I didn't expect to start my day with these plot worms but, Binggeyuan who have temporarily moved to America after Bingge got into a fight with homophobes in public - eventually they get a nice house somewhere not too crowded near woods where Bingge can blow off steam like an overexcited puppy, and with enough proximity to civilisation that Shen Yuan is supplied with internet, food delivery and fandom nonsense.

And they meet the Winchesters.

I mean, put it into context - who knows, a freaky monster-demon around (probably attracted to Bingge's vibes?) which would make Bingge go out and investigate, normal cultivator job but now with military boots. And Shen Yuan, armed with a lantern, courage, and a nerdy desire to see monsters that exist in his own world, ends up investigating and running into the Winchesters. All I think about is that chaos. All I DIE for is that chaos.

- I mean, I could really elaborate on all of this, isn't it fun? God knows what season it happens in. Ironically. I think it would be before the S11 when everything was calm and less chaotic for the Winchester bros, but eh, I guess ??? I don't know where it would fit in, but I really think Sam and Dean would look Bingge up and down and say: "Fuck no, there's no way he is human."

Shen Yuan is just a neutral translator trying to figure out what the hell is going on around. YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE MORE BIZARRE? Shen Yuan having read the SPN novels Chuck wrote at some point in his life before going on his xianxia reading binge. Shen Yuan has some experience now with characters coming out of books, so he wouldn't see it as THAT ABNORMAL, but anyway, his levels of normality have been completely ruined by Bingge.

and btw since I'm posting a lot of wholesoul content (intended as platonic but still), i do want to make it clear: my analysis of whole as a character is purely within the narrative of the story! while i am aware that behind the metaphors is whole is cj himself, that's never what i'm writing whole as in my work. basically I'm using the internal logic of the fiction (whole as viewed by the characters in the album) rather than the reason for the fiction existing (as a fictionalized version of chonny's mental state), just like i do with all the other characters. it's important to make that distinction when you're dealing with a piece of fiction so heavily based on the creator i think. I'll never use cj as a basis for how I write whole because I find that a little off putting tbh ^^;

taylor is obviously entitled to feel however she wants. anon and i were saying it's childish for the fandom to make that assumption on their own, or for her, which is what many of my other anons are doing. like, that is an really unfortunate way to view relationships and it's especially weird to say it was a waste when it's not even your own relationship.

One day I hope people realize that Kitsunami already "broke through his programming" back by issue #56 of Idw Sonic

He had an entire mini arc where he dealt with being without Surge for the first time, and in the real world. He met Sonic and his friends directly, tried to work out what his purpose would be without Surge in his life (gave it a shot trying to devote himself to Sonic, seeing him as the next best thing after Surge). And when it was all said and done, he decided after experiencing more that at Surge's side is where he wanted to be.

As of the recent IDW issues, Kit isn't sticking with Surge "because of programming" and "because he just needs for other characters to friend him and turn him into a better person". He is at her side because he wants to be. He protects her and aids her because he cares about her, not just because he's serving the strongest guy in the room. And he's not interacting with others because he's decided not to give a shit about anyone else other than Surge (because from his pov, even the "good guys" are fake. From his pov, everyone is someone trying to lie and manipulate their way into pulling him and Surge to their side)

Kit already has decided what he wants to do with his life. And he decided it on his own. Not because of anyone else's wants or wishes. That's the whole point of his speech at the end of #56.

He's burying whatever his and Surge's past is and moving forward with his conviction to be with Surge because it's what he wants.

(They write a lot of basic white(gringo) dark fanfic, so maybe I'm just taking it the bad way. one of the worst phenomena in fandom is when theres a character that everyone loves so much and thinks is the greatest guy ever who only ever does nice good things and then some other people start to point out examples of that not being true and then their narrative starts being that that character sucks forever so much and is only ever awful and the worst and we cant have any nuance about literally anything ever yayyy yipee !!!

usually when a character does Bad Things in a narrative (espec if they're not the protagonist) it is Portrayed As Bad so people who enjoy the character Likely Know They Are Bad

& either way harassing people over enjoying a fictional character is just really childish

if you don't like the character, that is perfectly valid. but there's never any reason to characterise everyone who likes said character as Evil, and/or imply they condone the character's negative actions.

also sometimes i look at internet discourse and it's like people want morally grey characters but then turn around when "morally grey" is not always "i have my own rules but i still make all the right choices !!" some of y'all just need to admit you just like good characters that's fine not everyone is into the spice it's ok to like that good protagonist energy

I think some of the arguments about fan interpretations of characters and OOCness forget a fundamental part of human nature which is this: each of us perceives the world and the people in it in slightly different ways based on our own experiences.

Most people have certain characteristics they consider fundamental to their Blorbo and some characteristics that are less important and could be changed, ignored, or scrapped for AU purposes. Unfortunately, which specific characteristics fall into which category are not going to be the same from person to person. Sometimes the overlap between two people's interpretations will be huge, and those two people will probably enjoy the same fan content. Sometimes not so much.

Personally, I write for a ship that were childhood friends that became lovers. In many AUs, people have them meeting for the first time in adulthood, and for me, that changes the nature of the ship and their characters so much that I can't really get into it. I consider their childhood friendship fundamental to them as people, and those authors don't. Which is fine. Many other people like those AUs. Nobody here is really in the wrong, we just have different opinions on what makes these particular Blorbos them.

In almost all cases, someone out there will find your interpretation of a character OOC. And that's fine. Hopefully they are polite and simply choose not to read your fics/engage with your HCs/whatever. But I think all of us have had the experience of reading a wildly OOC take and seeing other people enthusiastically going along with this "wrong" interpretation of the characters and thinking, "What??!?!"

It's fine. It's normal. It's annoying as hell (people are wrong on the internet), but it's inevitable. And if you find that interpretation particularly heinous to your Blorbo sensibilities, the block button is your friend.
