GENUINELY. my parents told us they were planning on getting a divorce after christmas 2 years ago (they didnt and instead Bought a house together :|) and my dad made this whole big thing of telling us called us into the living room sat us down and was so somber and we were all just like ok 👍 awesome. according to my mom i smiled and laughed a little bit . n you cn tell he thought it was gonna be this whole big thing and wed be sobbing crying so upset but we were all just like woohoo. anywyas

What if jon and damian got lost in space just like jon did
But they weren't captured or anythign they're literally just lost at space with no way back. They were just thrown into some dimension
At first Jon was alright but then he started to panic after a few days. Damian too, is anxiety by the situation
No one knows they were missing
Well maybe they knew but they just couldn't find them. Even the space cops couldn't. They were just yeha gone for a period of time. Maybe somrthing like the age up jon idk but i prefer it was technically like 1 year to 4 years ratio rather than 1 month to 6 years ratio 💀
So fast foward into the future its just them in a ship in a guardian of the galaxy kinda adventure trying to find themselves back to their planet.
Damian is just peter-quilling, playing musics to calm himself down, got some weird ass pets and cool alien gadgets he tinkers around and use on his fights. He's on edge 100% of the time because of what could happen to them, follows a schedule so that he doesn't slacks of but he's getting tired.
Then Jon is just there, agitated and overstimulated by the entire thing but he tries to cheer himself up. Always smiles and everything but internally its not okay. His eyes are just as wide as a traumatized soldier. He's a lot more controlling in a way becuase he doesn't wanna lose anyone but he never lost his kindness and hope for others.
Damian probably uses a laser gun but he found a lightsaber on the way so now he's just using that one lol. He hoards a lot of weapon, big and small, that could probably blow up a planet. Jon just bashes things up, i mean he's a kryptonian he can fly unlike Dame who needs a lot of equipment sadly. Their suits are also cyberpunk-ish, different parts and upgrades here and there. Damian still wears a robin symbol on the front and there is this bat symbol on his back across his shoulders. Jon also wears the house of El symbol on the front like his dad did. The suits lean on the more pratical ssid so its a bit dull.
Him and Damian ironically ends up saving planets and stuff. Both are definitely homesick but they always find stuff to cheers each other up. Going into places malls and everything. Fight space crimes errg. Just chilling together in the spaceship, comforting themselves. Entertaining themselves by dancing to music, solving crimes, or figure out different games and study on cultures of a planet together.
And then they get back to their world as a grown ass man (no theyre probably like 18 21) and they definitely look like different person, even their combat styles are different but they still do have their main qualities.

This isn't going to be a popular opinion, but I think the way the latest ep handled Stolas and Blitzo reconcilation after Ozzie in the worst way possible; instead of the emotional moment face to face it's through a blink-and-youll miss it text messageand Stolas' messages themselves suck. He acts completely innocent, like he doesn't know why Blitzo was upset when Blitzo told him why to his face.
Stolas telling Blitzo "I'm so glad you weren't upset lol" feels like gaslighting or minimizing Blitzo's valid reasons for being pissed at him.
I felt critical of how Stolas was portrayed as the "innocent smol bean" in s2 so far, but I told myself that its OK as long as the show at least shows that Stolas has fucked up, apologizes and makes up for it. The messages aren't a real apology: though unintentional, they feel manipulative, like a way to dodge any responsibility.
Stolas at this point feels like a karma houdini who can never do any wrong, no character can be rightfully angry at him.
I feel especially angry and frustrated because the HB fandom can be very toxic and aggressive towards anyone who criticizes the way the show handled abuse, Stolitz and Stolas' actions and imply theyre "victim-blamers" yet will defend the toxic parts of Stolitz to high heaven and treat Vivziepop like a goddess of storytelling who can do no wrong.

hallo max… how is indigojo during each season? aka spring, summer, autumn and winter? like do they go to picnic dates during the spring or beach dates in the summer or cafe dates in the autumn and stay inside cuddled up during the winter…… just any specific activities they like to do during these times…

haaai nat! :3 i haven't given that much thought actually :O but i do feel like they'd enjoy doing different activities n_n
like for example on spring i can imagine them going on dates to taste special limited time sakura flavored sweets they'd sell on shops or something of the sorts, since their favorite places to go on dates are in fact sweets/candy shops lol their sweet tooth...
they'd definitely go to cafe shops on autumn yep even though indigo is not rlly a fan of coffee... he does like iced coffee thats like over the top sweet, like with a lot of caramel, sugar and whipped cream (something i think gojo would also be a fan of) sooo they'd both get that... & on winter i think one of their favorite activities would be to cuddle up together and stay inside yep... well the one or two days they get free or something theyre kinda busy all the time with work... but the little time they get to themselves is probably spent doing that n_n also indigo's family normally does a little get together on christmas so they'd totally invite gojo for that... he's part of the family after all (gojo cries about this the first time he gets invited 💔)
maybe in summer they'd love to eat fresh watermelon & shaved ice (Kakigori) together. I think indigo would really miss the fresh fruits that were everywhere back when he lived in latin america lol, he moved to japan at a very young age but he still misses his home a lot so i think it'd be sweet if gojo knew this and got indigo a lot of fresh fruit during summer, he can basically teleport anywhere sooo anything is possible lol i know hed go to hell and back just to make indigo happy eek 💔. Also summer is actually indigo's favorite season by da way and i also headcanon that is gojo's favorite season too...! they really love to do fun activities in summer together...
here's them eating shaved ice together cause i couldnt resist fun fact this is also a very popular thing here in colombia but we call it raspao/cholao i think indigo would rlly love eating this cause it reminds him of his home

the lair of the white worm the sequel if i got to make it
three or four slightly odd uni students are hanging out in their flat when one of them mentions the story about the scottish researcher & last of the line of the (now abandoned) manor house who went missing some forty odd years ago
its now supposed to be an urban legend based off the existing folk tale and while they have a good laugh about it they decide to do a bit of research into it cause theyre nerds
at this point the d'ampton worm festival isnt really celebrated as much due to the unfortunate events surrounding one of the last ones, & the lack of any d'ampton heirs to play the role of honour. our protagonists hear a really slow & creepy version of the song somewhere else though cos im a sucker for creepy folk music
all they can find is older people in the town swear up & down that the scottish boy & the youngest lord d'ampton dissapeared at the same time as this rich mysterious woman who used to live just outside of town - it was at her house that the former chief of police (or whatever his job was) died quite gruesomely - and that there have been multiple cases of disappearances in the area
they only people who would possibly know anything are the two trent sisters - one of them died a few years back & the other mostly keeps to herself - running the hostel, being polite but detatched - she is the last known person to have seen any of the above missing people
being 20ish years old our protagonists decide the reasonable thing to do is book a few nights in the hostel & attempt a break in on the old d'ampton manor house, & the marsh manor house too if they can get in
upon mentioning the missing people, eve trent gets a bit upset - one of the more headstrong of the protagonists presses her further & all she can manage to get out before quite forcefully saying goodnight is that whatever happened fourty years ago, she is afraid of 'it' coming back & finding her again
our protagonists think this is ominous but potentially a good sign they are in fact onto something & ignore the warning signs by going poking around in the house - one finds a rather strange elongated skull in a box in an accidentally left unlocked cupboard, and one has very strange dreams that she & the other girl in the group and passionately making out while their legs fuse together in a white snakey manner. yes there is fire. yes the cgi is bad. yes theres some religious symbolism. its probably unnecessarily horny too. the snake priestess from the og movie is there & she's been recast as michelle gomez. you cant stop me
the girls after this point begin giving each other long glances & touching a lot & even though they were doing this before now it looks a wholeeeeee lot gayer. implying that they both had the dream & also that they both have really for real realised theyre into each other
overall thrown by the experience, after doing some poking around to little avail (they notice a picture of eve with her old boyfriend, the missing lord d'ampton, and that a big section of the front yard is sunken a bit) the next day the decide to, once darkness falls, break into the d'ampton house
while the grounds are overgrown & the exterior weathered & overall looking like a haunted house, the inside is in oddly good shape - slightly messy & many of the windows broken but in a generally Fine condition. they think this is odd seeing as a fancy house that has been known to be empty for this long should have had it's fair deal of urban explorers & bored teenagers trashing it such as. themselves lol
the creepiest part is the house in drenched in weird snake symbolism - ancient looking mosaics on the floors, old tapestries - they put this down to wealthy eccentricty & maybe they were just cool people like snakes are kind of awesome & when youre rich you can do whatever you want with your house
the tapestries showing the white worm being slain as was previously in lord d'amptons' bedroom is spookily slashed up. big close up shot on this as they all look at it
being the protagonists in a horror film the decide to explore deeper into the house, eventually coming across the entrance to a deep as hell tunnel. they decide to go through it, taking advantage of a conveniently placed candle stick & matches (they do have flashlights they just think this is cooler & spookier) (remember they are doing this for funsies mostly not as serious investigation)
the tunnel is weirdly. bloodstained. & also very old mosiacs of snakes & shit. some weird christian & pagan symbolism here too probably with a degree of wild innaccuracies because. of course lol. the Nerd One feels the need to point this out. they walk for what feels like a really long time.
at some points while theyre in the house & the tunnel we get a shot of a glint of eyes watching them from the darkness.......... eyes with particularly strong brows....................... <- at this point if youve been paying attention the incredibly obvious plot with be solved for you but we're not in this for the plot we're in this for a camp nightmare
our plucky young protagonists exit the tunnel & end up in another different manor house, exiting via a concealed wooden door under another snake tapestry. they correctly guess this to be the marsh manor
having apparently no sense of self preservation they poke around a bit - one of them reveals yet another secret passage way, this one seeming to go deeper underground.
at this point a protagonist (one of the boys) starts getting too freaked out & wants to go back. the others are vaugley exasperated & say that theyre in this wayyyy to far now to turn around & not find anything out. they all turn their backs on him to walk down the tunnel when theres a piercing scream & he gets snatched out of nowhere. out other male adjacent protagonist calls out his name & runs out of the tunnel to find him, telling the two girls to go on ahead. they do a bit of a 'haha he's probably just messing with us' thing but they all have a really bad feeling about this
the two girls are determined to find out what the hell is happening here. they keep going deeper into the tunnel. eventually an old wooden door leads them to what we recognise as....
THE SNAKE CULT MURDER ROOM !! YIPPEE !!
meanwhile the guy who got snatched (they do have names i just havent thought of any yet) is whimpering & moaning & covered in blood curled up in the corner of the room. he's obviously been attacked by A Something. the other guy bursts in the door way & runs over to him
the door slams ominously revealing... LORD JAMES D'AMPTON !! obviously now much older. honestly i dont care if he's still played by hugh grant or not but in any case, older guy, covered in blood, 80s style rich person clothes, weird cross between vaguely disheveled & having an air of Proper society
they have a 'ahaha you have walked right into my trap and now you will all die very bloodily! you cannot save your little friends now!! no one will even know where you've gone! i shall sacrifice you all to THE WHITE WORM !!' type thing. he then hypnotises not-bleeding boy & knocks him out. bleeding boy keeps bleeding & crying or something. lord d'ampton does some dramatic cape/coat swishing stuff
the two girls are like well. i think this goes a little bit beyond wealthy eccentricity i dont think people generally put a Scary Hole in their underground cave this is actually starting to get really really weird & creepy now
a low (& scottish) voice starts monolouging from out of the darkness telling the story of the white worm - recapping the myth & briefly the events of the first movie, ending with a creepy bit about 'the passing of the mantle' of worm high preistess and how the narrator & lord d'ampton are now bound in unholy matrimony by the power of the white worm or something
he emerges from the darkness & to the surprise of absolutely no one its PETER CAPALDI AS ANGUS FLINT !! CLAPPING & CHEERING !! obviously also older but still with longish curly hair. kilt optional but tartan pants at least. no bagpipes. sorry.
one of the girls shrieks a bit & they hold each other close for comfort
lord d'ampton also emerges from the darkness & both boys are revealed tied up & bleeding in a corner. there's some manical laughter from one or both evil old guys & a homoerotic glance between them
some sort of cut to the girls? about to be sacrificed? or something idk im not good with actually writing action or the plot coming together. call me steven moffat the way i can make the build up last forever.
angus flint does some more monolouging about how the worm was mortally injured in the explosion but they managed to save the skeleton & think that by sacrificing some more young people through death will come life or something. b/c they have possessed by the snake for so long they fully are on board with this like its not the snake bite talking they Are the snake cult leaders now. they will build the cult back up from the ground and our protagonists will be the first members-slash-victims. yippee. one of the girls asks if this is what happened to the other people who have gone missing in the area - most of the also tried to break into the house for a look around but their sacrifices didnt work for reasons
just as they think all hope is lost no one can hear you scream etc etc - EVE TRENT BURSTS IN BRANDISHING A FUCK ASS SWORD !!! she frees the girls about to be cut open over the worm skull in a very cool display of badassery - she kills lord d'ampton saying something along the lines of 'you were always a shitty rich prick i only dated you for your money' or whatever
they probably all chase each other around the cave for a bit. at some point angus does a thing and a whole bunch of snakes emerge from nowhere for dramatic effect. someone gets bitten idk
some dramatic montage. maybe one of the friends gets turned? for dramatic effect. they can save her through the power of lesbianism the other girl can suck the poison out. angus flint gets fangs. maybe the ghost of the snake cult lady marsh (as played in this by michelle gomez) comes back to get mad that they are desecrating her temple so badly or something idk
snake temporarily comes back & they have to kill it again

its been a minute since ive played either game, do you know if theres detention??? was daydreaming about good doer delinquent mc (as in, beats up the bullies but ends up in detention/teachers think theyre the bad one) and then realized i either dont remember or havent seen any detention

As it turns out, there is in fact detention!
It happens in season four of the OG when MC and Simeon start talking at lunch. They get distracted and totally miss one of their classes. Skipping class means you get detention!
When they showed up to the classroom in which detention was being held, it was being run by Barbatos. I found this very interesting because they said that detention is normally run by a student council member, thus implying that Barbatos is not actually on the student council himself. I kind of see this as he just acts as Diavolo's personal assistant so he's like council adjacent. But also good because give the man a break from something for once.
Anyway, they proceed to explain that it has to be Barbatos now because members of the student council kept finding themselves in detention. In this case, they're talking about Mammon specifically. I can't remember what he did, though.
Also present is Thirteen who I think caused some kind of trouble with a trap or something. I don't remember that exactly, either tbh.
The punishment is writing lines on a chalkboard.
Barbatos tells Simeon to write something like "I smile a lot but I'm scary when I'm angry ♡" with the heart and everything.
I don't remember what MC's line was or if they even gave us one.
But this stuck out to me because I remember being like I am a grown ass adult there is no way I would agree to do detention at all, let alone writing lines. Then again, these are also ancient beings and they're doing it, so they'd probably be like being over thirty is not a good enough reason to get out of writing lines lol.
Anyway, I think it was mostly a lighthearted sort of thing.
Personally I really like the idea of do gooder delinquent MC getting in detention all the time to the point where Barb is just like, don't even bother. He'd be like okay obviously you're not supposed to beat up students, but if you sneak out of detention, I shall turn a blind eye... and he'd get away with it easily too.
Anyway, I hope that helps you out! I don't remember exactly what lesson that detention part is in, so if someone knows, please feel free to drop the number in the comments or something!

can i hear about unmasker please? 👀🙏🏼
Unmasker is one that ive been kicking around for a while trying to decide what direction I want to take it. The idea is that marinette was akumatized in elation (with the idea in the back of her mind that she could use the powers to bait monarch out and unmask HIM) after that the plan was to have a partial identity reveal! Adrichat knows shes ladybug but she wont let him tell her his identity out of fear that shes compromised. So hes stuck between wanting to ask her out as adrien so they can date normally and her being all in on chat noir!
What i want to do is explore how everyone has different sides of themselves or identities depending on who theyre with i just have to work out how i want to do that LOL
I have a little bit written from her as an akuma so have a snippet under the cut!
“Don’t you see, chaton?” She said. “He gave me the power to see behind any mask.”
She took a step closer and stared at him so intently he couldn’t help but feel like he was missing something.
“No one can know who I am, Marinette.” He said quietly, silently praying to whoever would listen that some part of Marinette was listening to him and fighting. “It would put everyone I know in danger.”
Before he could respond, she quickly turned on her heel and stepped away from him. “I know what I’m doing.” She stopped and turned back to look at him. He shivered when the way she stood up straighter and her face turned to one of determination reminded him of Ladybug. “I just need you to trust me.”
Her face softened and she reached out to touch his cheek. He resisted the urge to pull away, not certain how she would react.
“Oh, sweet Chat Noir…” She cooed. “I would never hurt you.”
For a moment, she sounded so sincere he almost found himself believing her.

What's wrong with the ballet footage? Gen question, I don't know much about ballet
ok i will separate this into 2 parts, glaring fundamental flaws and pedantic nitpicky shit (which, to be fair, should only be corrected once the former are dealt with. but it looks like neither are happening any time soon so...)
Part 1: The Egregious
Zero turnout happening. Usually i'd point to the hips and talk about if the rotation is coming from the hips (good) or the knees and/or feet (bad very bad and kinda dangerous esp in gymnastics). but they arent even doing that.
The arms. The elbows should be slightly bent to create a "curved" look. The arms should be held up and in front of you with your hands around the height of your belly button, supported from your upper back muscles. The girl in the back (nola???) actually has hers pretty good (ignoring the hands, see below) but i would say she should have them a little lower and it looks like her delts are doing the work to keep her arm lifted instead of her back muscles.
Alignment. its difficult to tell from this one screenshot (i refuse to put in the effort to watch these frames 100x to get a great one im sorry) both because the legs are straightening (after what is ostensibly a plié lol) and bc of the camera angle, but you should be able to draw a straight vertical line from the ball of the foot to the hips to the shoulders. again the girl in the back looks a lot better than jade or kayla here.
More issues with turnout here that are more evident (bc theyre making an actual attempt to turn out here) they're starting to turn in passé here, i wont bother trying to articulate what the legs are supposed to look like bc miss betty okino here is doing it correctly xoxo.
i'll start with leanne. her supporting leg is actually quite nice and she's very high up on relevé, her ankle is straight/extended and right on top of the ball of her foot with her knee straight and quads engaged. however the leg she's bringing up to passé (pretty late, since shes turning, i should add) is basically totally turned in. the muscles in the hip that rotate the leg outward are doing nothing. the leg should be turned out from the hip the whole time you're bringing the foot up to the front of the knee.
now onto kayla. i circled the reflection because you can see the leg positions better, the video crops it out. she has the same issue with the hip turnout of the free leg, but her supporting leg is also turned in. look at the knee in the reflection. it's basically not turning out at all, but her supporting foot is like 45º turned out. considering that they're turning in this screenshot, thats bad news. turning out from the foot (ie rotating outward at the ankle) instead of the hip puts a lot of torque on your knee. its obviously not nearly as severe as the stress that twisting into the ground on a tumbling pass would put on it, just bc of the force being applied there, but its still not harmless.
Part 2: The Nitpicky
The hands...... how are the fingers (jade's and kayla's) the body part doing the most work here 💀 broken wrists (but like. tense and intentional, inexplicably???), palms facing the floor. hyperextended fingers. thumbs rotated away/out from the palms. the wrist should be straight but not rigid, it should complete the "curve" mentioned above when i talked about the elbows. the thumbs should be in, but again not taut, just relaxed by the rest of your fingers. its hard to explain verbally how the fingers should be, but they shouldnt be taut and/or stuck together either (aka pancake hands or karate chop hands lol). the girl in the back, her hand would be decent if she put her thumb in and rotated her wrist 90º counter-clockwise
Forward head carriage. That's my only gripe about Girl In The Back's posture, and even that isnt really Bad, otherwise it's great. Kayla's would be fine too but her shoulders themselves are a little too forward. Jade's is.... not great, it looks like she carries a lot of tension in her neck. i typed this whole post hunched over in my bed tho so.... do as i say not as i do ;)
i didnt bother editing the picture to circle it lol but kayla's foot is sickled in the pic with okino
also the first pic is hard to look at alignment/posture bc none of them are on the same count kfjdkjfkdjfk so musicality is a big fat L there

I’m doing a deep-read of the Japanese original print (reread) and Overhaul 1.0 (first read) side-by-side, and writing down everything I notice from small details, version differences, translation differences, etc.

I really love the "train conductor/bus driver/etc puts themself in danger to protect the passengers" trope- NOOOOOOOOOO COOL CONDUCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Small correction: These first onomatopoea are actually...flesh sounds...... And I wasn't really thinking about corrections for this one, more just for nuance, but Neon says something like "it's unfortunate, but..." in this line.
A small difference here: in my version it's actually CO2, not oxygen that's being supplied to the Heat Plant. However, considering that O2 is a fuel for combustion and CO2 is a byproduct, it may be an error on Nightow's part.
This is one of the first indications of who Kaito actually is. He knows all of this off the top of his head, which catches the Captain by surprise.
It also provides information about Plants. This could either mean that all Plants require some kind of fuel, or that the Plants can utilize those resources in some other way to help the Sandsteamer.
Get graphited idiot.
We also get to see more of Kaito's attachment to this Sandsteamer.
Here, the original line is more like "Why would Brilliant Dynamites Neon have to listen to you when this treasure—the prey I've been hunting—is right in front of me!?"

Even the gang member is getting worried about what Neon might do to Kaito... And here's where we find out why Kaito knows so much and wants to protect the Sandsteamer!
Notes on the original phrasing of this line, since I saw a few posts comparing the Dark Horse and Overhaul versions.
The Japanese line is「パッと散りな 小僧」 パッ(pa') is an onomatopoea for "pop," "poof," or a release (e.g. letting go of an object). 散る(chiru, used here in command form) means "scatter," most commonly associated with falling cherry blossom petals. From that, it's also a euphemism for dying. i can go on for another paragraph on the association of cherry blossoms with Japanese views on life/death but you can figure that out. or google it idk
I think this line is another excellent representation of Neon's values on beauty and death.
I love this page so much!! The flow comes to a complete stop, and the tension that has been building throughout the last few pages is at its peak here. The composition is also excellent. The art is symmetrical, and Neon's giant outfit follows the lines leading from the bottom corners of the page up to Vash's gun, where they intersect right in the middle. I JUST LOVE THESE KINDS OF COMPOSITIONS SO MUCH.....

It took a while to figure out what happened here, but I think Vash either sensed danger or actually dodged a bullet, and chose to jump back out. Love the way he's firmly holding Kaito's overalls while Kaito doesn't understand anything that's going on lol
The silly goofies... theyre screaming crying shitting themselves out there....
It's a bit hard to see, but Kaito is screaming "AAAHHH PULL ME UPPP" in the middle panel.
This exchange after the two get to safety is also so silly... There's a missing "whrrrr drill drill" SFX for Vash's drill hand (?). I saw a photo of the Dark Horse version which was missing it in the same way, with the leftover ン on Vash's cheek.
I forgot to highlight it, but this note pertains to Vash's second speech bubble about death and destruction. The Japanese version of the line is something like "I swear!! I have at least 2 digits' worth of death-gods(死神) or poverty-gods(貧乏神) haunting me!!" Death-gods/shinigami are already well-known in the West so I won't explain that here. The second one, poverty-god/binbōgami, is a similar kind of thing, except it brings poverty to whoever it clings onto (instead of death). Fun fact: Binbōgami are said to like yakimiso (grilled miso paste).
VASH'S SOUPY BRAIN!!! The mystery has been solved!!!
But first, in order... Vash's first line is more like "We can't be worrying about all this right now." It could keep the original phrasing, but the main idea is to change "me" to "us."
The next (most important) line is actually "We gotta save brainpower [for the matter at hand]." The confusion lies in the word 脳みそ, which literally translates to "brain miso," but is actually the word for brain tissue, and thus brainpower. It has nothing to do with miso soup! The origin I wrote in the middle-left of the image is...dubious.... I told my mom about this just now, and she mentioned that it might be called that because みそ(miso) also means the center or key aspect of something. Weblio also says it signifies innards (like from crab or shrimp), similar to what I wrote in the annotation at first. I'll fix it in the document later
Also, I would phrase the last line as "I mean, we're gonna stop this ship, right!?"
Kaito's skills are actually insane. What do you mean you just copied the entire blueprint... Mistranslation: The respect is directed towards his dad, so it should be "You must really look up to your dad."
I didn't know his name was spelled Kaite in this version. My Japanese version copy has that bottom part in a regular speech bubble, and with the font for the boxes. It's most likely just a version-exclusive error. He also says that his dad "found" the ship, but I'm not sure if that's another error or not since this translation makes more sense.
This line is phrased more like "Just for a little bit of cash, I'm now taking advantage of you for a deal with a crook."
I really loved the execution of this scene in the '98 anime. get hammered into the ground boy The final line is from Kaito, not Vash, and should be "...Yeah!!"

yapping about Kill the Past under the cut cuz im now free from the 25th ward finally
THE SILVER CASE
-it feels cliche to say the first game was my favorite but uhhh haha. knowing suda, The Silver Case probably didn't fully accomplish what it set out to do but to me, it's so self-contained and demonstrates such ownership of a style that mostly came out of necessity that i can't not admire it, and i'm also so fond of my playthrough of it which was so fresh and curious, compared to the other two games which were fun but I was thinking too much abt how it connects to TSC
--also just the way i played this game is so special, i was very committed to the darker aesthetic to the point where I only played past like 10pm for a while, which is funny cuz the opening of the game is straight up paranormal but by the 2nd chapter transmitter loses that edge until debatably lifecut. tokio is also haunted and paranormally but by that point i just started playing normally. it sorta reminds me of paranormasight which starts out so spooky and the curses are very present but a few hours in it sorta reverts to being a pretty normal feeling but still very good detective mystery. at one point a character does an escape room ala zero escape and its funny. but TSC doesn't stray from its initial vibe as much as paranormasight at all.
-i also played the parallel stories of TSC separate from each other rather than alternating, which made placebo such a slog but i almost feel like I appreciated both stories more that way, even though i would have loved to experience how placebo compliments transmitter
--despite not clicking with placebo at first, tokio is like one of my favorite characters this year hes such a fucking Guy. and you experience him so intimately in placebo in a way i can't even describe but is effective by the end.
---theres a bizarre and esoteric mental link in my brain between tokio, ange from umineko and fucking flynn moore from the furry visual novel Echo because of them being like surprise deurotagonists (sp?) that get fucked up from having to search for the truth about the past and how theyre all chained by it. do you think they would put happy colors in my padded cell or would it just be all white.
-I also feel like I came out of TSC a lot clearer than I did FSR or 25W, I'm sure I missed several details at first but the shelter kids stuff and kamui as more of a role and a criminal influence than as a person wasn't that hard to wrap my head around even though I thought the silver eye stuff was so whatever. i kind of wonder if part of the reason i clicked with it faster was because I'm such an mgs2head, and the whole kamui thing is sorta like what the solid snake simulation appears to be at first
-also the mackerel phones video about Kusabi is so good and feels like a must watch for how well researched it is and how accurately it nails the feeling and message of transmitter.
-TSC also uses film window a lot better than 25W and it might be worth researching how the latter being a phone game affects things but i just got off that game
-also would kinda love a translated version of the PSX version someday just to feel how different it is. idk if certain ppl hate the official translation so much maybe they should do it themselves ooooh
-i havent read 4.5 and i meant to do so before 25W to have that context about sumio and sakura and i kindaaa didnt so lol i have to do that eventually.
FLOWER, SUN AND RAIN
-"flower, sun and rain" is like a speech tick to me in the way of like, rupaul on the weakest link immediately defaulting to chaka khan when he doesnt know the answer to a question
-i wish i felt flower, sun and rain the way I felt TSC. i had a decent time with it and even had a good sense of humor about the more obviously tedious parts and the OST, and I get how mundane it's supposed to be, what it's saying about living in peace and the lie of paradise, but it didn't click with me as much. maybe a pitfall was being so attached to TSC when i played, i was probably looking for something i shouldn't have instead of just enjoying the game for what it was altho i didn't hate it or anything.
--ideally this also gets a translation on its original console cuz I like some parts of the PS2 soundtrack and id love to experience all the art assets and music in PS2 quality.
---sorta tangent. i love the opening tracks for all of these games but Anata no Tameni might be my favorite, beyond just being amazing its so dramatic and unlike the rest of the series and it really stands out. the ds opening in comparison might actually be my least favorite because of that lol
-i think that the mondo/kodai revelation is so funny just because it's an idea you'd either keep in the back of your mind or just wave off because of how dumb it seemed but regardless it's constantly staring you in the face. assuming you even played TSC before this
--sumio was never super proper or anything, i don't think, but his personality here compared to TSC is so funny, he can spend 20 years with bottled up rage and fake his way into an incompetent police force without slipping thaaat much but here he has enough small inconveniences to hit a kid over it. kind of an interesting play on like the salient thing about personality and the self being buried and it feels like an early version of like a shiroyabu situation. not the last time i will compare sumio and shiro.
--i also think its funny that the model of sumio mondo looks pretty similar to kodai compared to the key art of mondo and we should explore that one day
-i wanted more out of toriko kusabi, she was a fun diversion and i didn't expect her to be a tokioesque second protag or anything but idk. she was fun when she went against sundance and at the end and her being like a subliminal kinda suggestion to sumio's buried memories of her father i think is cool. in a less meta sense it's also cute that shes working for her dad i wonder if tetsu has to like try not to step on christine everytime he comes home from the bathhouse at like 2am. actually i dont remember what their family situation even is
-speaking of kusabi i think him like being the guardian/ferryman for sumio's journey is so so beautiful and true and i like that he gets to pull him back from the depths the way sumio sorta inadvertently did in parade/kamuidrome.
--its also really funny to me kusabi just disguises as a chubby white guy. it was probably a fatsuit but i feel like kusabi could be like 50lb away from being a bear anyways. its like the grocery store deli scene in bobs burgers.
---i also appreciated parade from transmitter way more playing this and thinking about sumio. when i played parade the first time i loved connecting the dots on everything but then it kinda got buried by kamuidrome and lifecut. and now im such a shooter for sumio kodai. look at me talking about the previous game wooo.
-i think the character designs in this are funny for how little of them you can actually see. everyone loves yayoi and yayoi is such a serve but my other fav is ken. all the punk details are completely lost in the actual game. the models also super undersell stephen carbione's look, cuz in-game he sorta looks like tokio but then you see his key art and its like yea he would look like that.
-tokio was in this game
-i think edo macallister should be a bellhop in every video game with a hotel ever. im going to the other side of the country soon and if the guy behind the desk at the hotel isn't edo i will be severely disappointed.
-i love that its hyenas. i think there should be like tokio morishima as an anthro hyena and he still has his domesticated turtle or at least like hyena sundance or yotaro or something. i think ppl would be quick to anthropomorphize tokio as a literal turtle guy.
-the eleven children stuff is whatever, i do like that theres a bunch of sumios running around but idc for all the other implications and like step and remy and koshimizu and whoever else. is sumio mondo still deaf and mostly relying on lip reading? cuz i dont think that gets brought up again. i mean he wakes up to a phone ringing every morning but i guess those are the clones. if the hearing is referenced early in fsr and i just missed it then that would be very cool. maybe thats why the voices for the characters are abstract and illegible. maybe flower sun and rain is the best game ever.
THE 25TH WARD
-what if we were all protagonists.
-i dont think this game uses film window as well as TSC but i do like the art and how much of it there is in correctness and matchmaker, also the different styles.
-i love yotaro osato sadly hes so funny and fluffy. hes osato in my notes and in normal convo but i want to call him yotaro affectionately. i do love tsuki too hes such a sufferer.
--i think theyre a teeeeny bit like like p4 adachi and dojima if they were both murderous.
-i feel bad for the lady that gets murked immediately in correctness i had a funny voice for her in my head
-shiro and kuro god bless them are funny and parallel sumio and tetsu to me. both sumio and shiro grapple with their criminal power, although sumio goes against the hc unit while shiro attempts to but finds himself back with them at the end, and while kusabi over time softens quite a bit and learns from sumio in a more overt way than kuro being literally the "japanese dirty harry" and not having as much of an arc, they both are compelled enough by their partner to rein them back in. just the surface level so i dont have to write a whole essay in a stream of consciousness type of post
--what even happens to them bc as far as i can tell, shiro just continues to be a tool of the state and kuro maybe? shoots her superior and then the 25th ward blows up.. with them on it? like okay at least tsuki got outta there.
--on the shiroverse timeline. theres conflicting sources on if his immortality is a kamui thing or a sumio mondo thing or something else and thats funny. the sources all being fan wikis and tvtropes because fuck this game that zero people played and negative people have documented.
-i need to like hold myself back from analysing meru as trans because its so clearly done for shock value but it somehow aged really hilariously now with how prevalent trans egirls are. liek theres a strange almost unearned truth to how meru exists online versus irl.
--kind of all of the gay/trans mentions in these games are like this although kusabi you can at least take in sorta good faith?
-i need to think abt what i thought abt tokio here. its increasingly funny how online he is for being a normal dude in the late 90's early 2000s.
--his portrait in yumi is kind of a hear me out but all the cgs of older tokio look crazy. tokio in general looks a mess in this game and its funny. look at him try to be masc
-i mentioned mgs2 above and the 05 chapters of these games are so reminiscent of the s3 plan and the patriots with the frontier etc using the city to collect data and the protags having to figure out where they fit into it. during TSC, i was paying a lot of attention to the story as it related to the advent of technology. it felt really relevant to kamuidrome and all of placebo but mostly ended up as background/context to the story. it was used a lot more here and i really liked it. chat logs are a great framing device in all the routes since they add so much flavor and emphasize the loneliness of life in the 25th ward (semi-related: in both TSC and 25W, the environments are devoid of people in film window, and i think this works way better for 25W than it did for TSC). placebo is yet again a good example of this with tokio only really interfacing with the world through his computer most of the time
--in terms of twists, i might actually like "the city is just a means of data collection ready to be wiped at any moment/it resembles a computer more than an actual city and life there is so impermanent that its hard to tell how real it all is" better than the end point of tsc which was "they were trying to mass process children to find a means of immortality" which i was so whatever on even though the game is trying to be crazy and also say something about like life and aging in society, but in tsc i like "they were mass grooming perfect civilians and inadvertently making them susceptible to crime" as a conclusion a bit more. but i mean 25W also poses so many more questions than it does give answers so.
---despite everything i think it was an interesting idea for suda and masahiro yuki and masahi ooka to create the 25th ward almost as a sandbox to explore more of the ideas of the first game like how the internet affects human connection, communication, sharing of information, and how people are affected by criminal power/kamui. it was a cool idea in the original but i love actually getting to see shiroyabu steadily become more unhinged (death filing), kurumizawas pervasiveness, tsuki and osato coming to grips with their own (esp osato's immense) criminal power, etc. in spite of all of the loose ends and craziness, sometimes you really need a space to work out your ideas and express yourself and i commend grasshopper for doing that so i could have played this on a nokia in 2005. in japan
overall these were video games. very excited to forget everything about them when i fixate on something else. tsc might actually be one of my fav things i played this year. would love more analysis of the 25th ward, theres some essays/interpretations floating around and ghenryperez will get to his video on it eventually. maybe i need to be the change i wish to see but also boo putting effort into writing and analysis sux.
i started sudas works with nmh, then 2 before stopping until i played killer7 a year ago and really liked its style and sense of humor. i think this happens to a lot of people, and then a year after that i started tsc. i wasnt originally that interested in nmh tsa but now that i know theres hello 25th ward characters in it i might have to try. and then nmh3 after that. and then i also wanna play twilight syndrome/moonlight syndrome when that gets a translation because of lunatics. and i also got killer is dead when it was on sale for like 2 bucks. we can enter the greater sudaverse.. together

theres this idea going around in my head that im not sure how to execute well yet but its like... a shiguang dailiren milgram au type of thing? mostly w focus on the 11 milgram characters
if ur not familiar w sgdlr its basically abt 2 guys that have time travelling powers they use to help their clients achieve something (get clues on a case, get info they missed in a specific moment, say something to certain people etc). they do this by entering photos, one can see all events post the picture being taken, and the other can control the person that took the picture from that point on. context is necessary for what i want to get to
The show is like, for a good part of it, the audience getting to know different characters and their stories through the main duo. All we have at the beginning is their request, and along the protagonist we speculate why or how things came to be, questions slowly being answered and making us sympathize with the client and/or the people around them.
And i, unable to not make everything about futa if i can help it, and as someone fascinated by this concept and its execution in the show, naturally, wondered how an episode about him would be. And then it kinda spiraled?
Imagine if instead of going through the torture chamber that is milgram, the prisoners went to this humble photo studio through the hearsay that there's this witch that can dive into a photo and into the past to solve your problems (either post or prior their "sin", maybe it isnt them that contacts the service but someone close to them does), in an attempt of fixing things or picking themselves up from the low point theyre at.
For the sake of not mixing the franchises, maybe es is the one with the diving power (no idea whod be the one that can see the events post picture though. maybe novel es? rei? idk. didnt think that through). Also, it doesnt necessarily have to be directlt related to what got them in milgram in canon, it could be any other problem that character is implied to be going through (like mahiru's relationship with her parents, for example)
And like, again, its just an idea, and I kind of have some thoughts on how to go about certain characters (namely futa. lol), but i dont have anything concrete... i feel like this would be much better written than drawn (thats so much work god bless) but thats pretty much about it help
I hope i can figure it out and do something about it, its like, a fun way to do character studies. I dont think i could handle all 10 characters (i dont think id ever have the motivation to write kazui), but who knows, maybe i get on a roll someday... i just needed to type the overall idea to Get It Out There instead of keeping it floating in my head lol

oh i am so about to become an unskippable cutscene. ok so
my zeldaverse concept is that they all get stuck in the time AFTER the golden goddesses made hyrule but BEFORE hylias creation. each zelda has a varying amount of time since their adventure ended (i.e. totk zelda has been back home for a little less than a month. st zelda is in the MIDDLE of her adventure. sheik only sent link back to her time a week ago. its been 9 months since midna left tp zelda. zelda i zel's adventure ended 5 years ago and her great aunt from zelda ii ended one year ago. etc etc). the idea is that they all wanna get home, so they decide to try and use the triforce, but none of them know which one would be Worthy of it (as in having power wisdom courage). they go to termina [sksw zeldas idea. shes reaaaally trying not to let on shes hylia but still wants to be helpful] bc the fierce deity is their best shot at knowing which one can do it. FD (who appears as their links to each one of them respectively as to "present as something theyre more familiar with." ie botw zelda sees botw link, tp zel sees tp link, etc etc. they end up changing into malon for sheik bc hes still got baggage over link and impa and anyone else so FD chooses someone he barely knows instead.)
anyways FD tells them that all of them are capable of it if they focus in but their best bets are sheik, botw zelda, tetra, and hilda + albw zelda if they do it together (one from each branch of the timeline. kind of). so the gang splits off to find the triforce and erm yeah 🕺💃
also theres two oot zeldas. one for the adult timeline (sheik) and one for the child timeline, who never knew the horrors of war and got to know oot link unlike sheik. oops.
anyways herez my names wooooo (also they all chose them themselves hehe)
BOTW/TOTK - Coreulea (part of the scientific name of wild blueheart tulips which are the closest visually to silent princesses irl, so. shes named after her fav flower...)
OOT (ADULT) - Sheik (later Sage. this zelda awoke as the leader of the sages while the other oot zelda did not have to.)
OOT (CHILD) - Coda (the part of a song where you go back and repeat a portion you've already played before. get it. Coda says she wants something music related and Sheik is the one to suggest the name to her.)
MINISH CAP - Stonie/Quartzie (what her link calls her! used to think it was mean but shes rlly missing him so ..)
TP - Archer (bow of light. prefers to be called 'the archer' specifically if possible, lol)
ALBW - Hilda and Hue (like color. like painting. Hue liked the alliteration of their names hehe)
ALTTP - Maiden (describes herself as a maiden in game. theres more to it but ohhgh thatd require a lot of analysis and this is already so looong)
ZELDA I - Ura (in the og game u had another mode called ura zeruda after u beat the game which literally translated to "other zelda." its a little joke abt how many zeldas there are! she chose it bc its her real first name; zeldas only her middle name!)
ZELDA II - Somnia (from "insomnia." also the name her family uses to differentiate her from her great great niece. she thinks its pretty, if a little on the nose, but she cant blame her relatives for being that uncreative when shes been dead for 100 years, took the money they gave her to not claim the throne, and ran off with her boytoy lmaooo)
WW/PH - Tetra. she wanted a silly nickname too though so they will also respond to Captain
SPIRIT TRACKS - Spectra (like spectral! shes still a ghost here and has a good sense of humor abt it!)
SKSW - Lyre (another name for harp and sounds like "liar" because shes got a bit of a track record for not being entirely truthful about who she is ,,,,)

Does fierce deity recognize her? If he does, does he willingly keep her secret from the rest of the Zelda's as he's correctly guessed that she's hiding it? How does the fierce deity correcting know of just who would be the most familiar to present as and does he know of all the Link's?
There's just so many questions and it's so funnnnnn to think about!! Also I like how he says that all of them are capable but Sheik, botw Zelda, Tetra, and Hilda are the most capable of wielding the full triforce... while sksw Zelda is right there... HMMMMMMMM........ sksw Zelda I have questions for you but I fear if I speak any of them out loud you'll combust <3333 love her though <333
The choices for all the Zelda's is so fun and cool to! I've never really thought about including both oot child and adult! I can most definitely see that being a major source of pain and angst for Sheik and I'm just super curious about Coda would react to that :o also I'm just a fan of such Zelda incarnations such as MARIO KART and SUPER SMASH BROS being involved in the middle of this.

tng night SIGH number four. tonight's eps were uhhh [checks] "lonely among us" and "justice." verdict: idk, i kept getting bored and looking at my phone
"lonely among us" was about a little electric thing that kept hopping bodies. this was initially kind of fun, if stupid, because it seemed SO OBVIOUS that crusher should report missing time right away and she just didn't lol
i do like that deanna finally got something to do (hypnotizing them) but it just made me remember that in tos they werent allowed to do that and this hypnotism could have been an email (vulcan mind meld). i'll get there. i just miss him.
the aliens who wanted to eat live animals were like. unfunny. especially when menacing tasha yar. idk, she always looks incredibly tense and it's starting to make me feel bad for her. she seems to hate everything. poor ms whoever is playing her
data's bit with the sherlock pipe was kinda cringe but i love him anyway. i was VERY mad when picard told him to knock it off. you're stopping him from stimming!!! leave him alone!!! also, in the next episode, he got onto him about babbling and watching data shut down in response was SOOO sad jail for picard for ONE THOUSAND YEARS im glad his ass apologized
unfortunately during the middle of the pipe thing is when i found out about the loz movie via destiel meme (ep was boring i was looking at my phone sorry) so i ruined the best part of the episode for myself
i am coming to understand that generally speaking data is the best part of any given tng episode <3
there was a moment in this episode where wesley was once again right and told to buzz off. in the next episode he does something stupid and they spend the entire time defending him. i DONT understand why it always has to be like this. i don't even dislike wesley, i just dislike the way the other characters are written is reponse to him. he's like the theo teenwolf of tng (dont get me started)
big moment in this ep was the potential mutiny. once again it's too early for this shit. i wanted some episodes where they explore planets and fight some guys (like the ferengi ep!) before we did anything deep. i bet if this happened in like seasons 3-5 i'd be beside myself about it the way i was when it almost happened in tos. but i don't like some of these guys yet, let alone care deeply about them (except data, who is my best friend).
next ep: The Sex Planet. once again, it is inappropriate to be having children on a starship, but it is especially inappropriate to send your fifteen year old """honorary""" """""ensign"""""" down to a planet that you don't know anything about except how they LOVE to fuck. the greeting party literally didn't even know what to do with him if they couldn't feel him up. he had to explain in 1987 hays code that he was a fucking virgin. maybe some research besides "they love to fuck here" would have helped with this situation but also "let's not send the 15yo to the brothel planet" would be a good line of thought too???
anyway he breaks the law has to die and theyre twisting themselves into knots over the prime directive and the setup was ACTUALLY almost interesting except they just beamed away with him in the end without finding a third option, which they could have done like 20 minutes in. also, if theyre trying not to break the prime directive, why are they allowed to tell the aliens they're from space and beam one aboard their ship? like, i actually love ethical questions posed by the prime directive, so this episode is cool on paper, but the execution flopped
oh i nearly forgot worf was bragging about his prowess in bed and how he was too much for weak human partners and riker looked SO intrigued which was like the funniest fucking thing. good for both of them. also it was androidphobia that they didn't let data go to that planet to get laid
anyway, as of now, i have been OFFICIALLY DITCHED. catherine maulthots has decided to let me do s1 and s2 of tng on my OWN and then show her the relevant ones so it's time to watch this shit on 2x speed until i hit the good parts

hey, can i ask how you were able to get such a good grasp on the hyyh storyline?? i'm asking because i've been a fan of their work for over a year but i was never able to fully comprehend the actual events of hyyh.
i have watched videos and learned some other stuff from comments here and there but the problem is that, although there seems to be a general consensus on some of the themes of hyyh, some people have different interpretations of what actually happened. not as in they have different interpretations of the meaning of the events, but rather the actual events themselves. i know this is inevitable considering the way the storyline was presented (through music videos that weren't in chronological order, mobile games (?), the notes, social media easter eggs, performances, etc.) but it's kind of discouraging to think that there will almost always be stuff you miss, you know? all the appreciation i have for hyyh comes from the few things i've been able to understand but i sometimes wonder if my analysis is completely off simply because i don't understand the storyline itself.
it seems like there's a lot of resources out there helping people understand references and metaphors but the problem is that i never actually know where their source is from (as in, for example they make a connection to another even that i didn't even know had happened).
what i'm trying to say is that i would love for you to maybe talk about your experience understand and analyzing hyyh and how you consumed it in the first place. did you just watch the music videos and hope for the best? do you think reading the works that were referenced in the story (demian, the ones who walk away from omelas, etc.) would help ones understanding of the events or is it of more help in terms of themes? did you use secondary sources? if so, do you have any recommendations for people that want to understand the storyline but are starting essentially from zero?
im so sorry this ask is so long lol. of course you don't have to answer it, i'm just really really interested in this and what you have to say, and i trust your judgement so.
hiiii omg of course! i think video essays and stuff are really great for understanding how the mvs depict the storyline and to get a good idea of the main themes and symbols, but when it comes to understanding the timeline your best bet is the notes! i got into the hyyh game veryyyyy late but i had read the webtoon when it was coming out, i watched the video analyses etc etc but it really wasnt until i read the notes that i felt like i really understood the key dates and the characters too. i think reading the books that inspired hyyh are totally secondary and not really necessary, especially that the direct references as so sparse in the grand scheme of whats concrete canon vs what is symbolism. watching the mvs first and watching a few analysis videos/posts first really helped me get interested but if you're looking to get invested in the characters, understand their motivations, and be able to link dates to the mvs i rly recommend the notes!
however, like you said, hyyh is incredible and annoyingly confusing and convoluted :') even the notes can be difficult to read bcs 1) they're translations so some details are lost or skewed and 2) there are a lot of double notes + notes that are from different timelines without any distinction of what happens when and where and 3) theyre just for the most part poorly written. like its just straight up poor sloppy writing lmao. and there's just soooo much BU content but the problem is none of it is really that consistent and its hard to gauge whats canon vs whats another attempt vs whats a hyyh/ARG nostalgia cash grab. and so its very difficult to remember absolutely everything. so honestly my advice is to keep it simple! no need to remember dates or anything, just key events is fine. the notes for the most part cover everything and there have been lots of fan translations in addition to the official book so theres always backup for more nuance!
tldr: i would highly highly highly recommend reading the notes for anyone interested in getting into hyyh, i think theyre rly the best bet for balance between canon and clarity. definitely feeds the other sources rly well and fills in a lot of the blanks!

I LOVE IT SO MUCH 😭😭 my fav part has to be just the interaction between everyone..even if the interactions are small themselves its so nice to see like, them joke around again and be yhemselves and have their current situation reflect on the way they act, like weiss being stressed and more quiet and quick with things irl, ruby completely shutting stuff out and actually processing the hopelessness of the situation theyre in, or blake and yang where theyve BEEN thru their traumatic things and theyre more optimistic about the future and whats going on around them. i missed them so much, it feels like im watching v2 all over as a kid again
