Talk of the Yang dance dance infiltration concept art (saying the episode name bc it’s one of the few I know by heart) is really fun to think about. Bc it’s Concept art but it’s not what they went with. And the big festival were cut for animation reasons but they could’ve still went with a golden sleek dress and fancy heels for Yang. But like you and others have said they didn’t and that feels more like a young woman who doesn’t know how she wants to present or be seen. Yang doesn’t dance with anyone aside from Blake and after that she’s just watching the party from above, not involved even tho she and Weiss were part of the set up crew so you’d think she would wanna enjoy it

BUT this also made me think about Ruby. And how in the show she said she wasn’t a “fancy dancy” kind of girl, mostly talking about how she isn’t used to wearing / isn’t fond of the heels she’s wearing. Shes a big boots kinda person, flat at the bottom, not heels like Blake or anyone else.

And it’s interesting to think about the sisters with this contrast. Yang who when fighting (where she feels most confident bc she doesn’t have to think about how she looks but what she’s doing) has the showers and the exposed vest but she also has the jacket and the boots. It’s a mix of more fem and masc leaning styles blending together. At the dance she wears a dress, traditional feminine style, but she’s not looking to be Seen in it. At this point it doesn’t seem to bother her but maybe subconsciously she’s like I don’t want ppl to have this image of me be the stand out image. I’ll be in a plain dress for one night and then it’s back to regular me.

Where Ruby expresses to both Jaune and Ozpin that parties and dances and these types of shoes aren’t her style at all. She has her Combat Skirt but she also has hwe cape and her utility belt. It’s a more cute punk style mixed with functionality vs the fashion only of her dance outfit.

Yang says with her actions that she doesn’t want to be seen and doesn’t know how she wants to be seen. Ruby says with her words what she doesn’t like. Even though Yang dances openly with Blake, and Ruby is complimented by her sister, they both aren’t 100% comfortable dressing in this type of girly way. And while Yang as she’s grown is leaning towards more masculine and butch, and Ruby is still I’d say more feminine by contrast, both sisters are less feminine presenting than Blake and Weiss. Which I think is fun for team and them being sisters as well.

This is so good and so accurate. Honestly I feel like CRWBY was ahead of the curve in how the girls would ultimately feel about themselves and how they wanted to present.

Japril The Sims Project - Harriet’s Nursery

[Included in Jackson’s House - s13 (level floor)]

Story

Even though baby Harriet’s birth was anything but expected, with April being her mother, her arrival had been -of course- thoroughly planned.

April herself had had a very hard time setting up the nursery in her -previously their- apartment. Turning the room that once belonged to Samuel into a happy, loving place for a brand new life was anything but easy, but the soldier she is, she made it through... only for all that to go to waste when eventually she was cut open on a kitchen table and thus moved into Jackson’s house until she healed. Or well, that was the original plan.

In any case, April hadn’t been the only one preparing for Harriet’s arrival. But Jackson had never been good at decorating, or shopping in general for that matter. Plasma TVs, tacos and yaughts? Hell yeah. Diaper bags and sterilizers... not so much. And even though he’d done the shopping trip for Samuel’s baby stuff with no other than the one and only Karen Kepner, exactly because April’s mother was the queen of baby raising she had done all the work and he had merely been following her around while carrying some -very heavy though- furniture.

So sometime during the pregnancy, Jackson had asked April for help. And despite being a bit reluctant at first, due to the almost-custody-fight still being so fresh and all, she eventually agreed. Three shopping springs of sweat, even heavier stuff to carry, and hilarious onesie writings later (nobody can forget the ‘To do list: crap my pants, take a nap, suck some tits’ one. Or even better April’s expression once he had held it up for her to read, declaring he would buy it. He had been laughing at her expression for a week straight.) eventually the nursery as we know it came into life, and Harriet quickly followed.

Series VS Sims Pictures

The idea was to create a copy of the original Grey’s Anatomy set in The Sims 3. However most of the time, and this is no exception, we are shown only bits and pieces of a room, and thus the result isn’t 100% accurate. In this case in particular, the only picture provided is this one, and the scenes from 13x02  that take place in the nursery are mostly focused on Jackson and Harriet’s faces, and the background is very hard to distinguish.

As a result, many parts of the nursery are completely imaginary, but always based on the things that Jackson -with major help from April- would likely buy for their baby’s nursery.

Little Details

Like parents, like daughter

Once upon a time, there was a little girl growing up in a farm, a girl whose vision was to raise her two boys and one girl around livestock. Perhaps parts of her vision didn’t exactly go as she planned, but once she was asked to help decorate her daughter’s nursery -without a budget (!)- she knew exactly what to do. Every corner of the nursery reminds you of a day in a barn, and even though it probably should have, it didn’t bother Jackson in the very least. Who’d have thought...

But even though April’s taste is a bit more evident in the room as a whole, a glimpse inside Harriet’s dresser will tell you a completely different story. Yes, there are some floral patterns in her little blouses, of course there would be. But those ridiculous onesies mentioned above, that pineapple outfit -for heaven’s shake- and the shoes, they all scream Jackson. Oh those shoes... Pairs that are worth more than most furniture in the nursery shouldn’t exist for feet this little, but apparently that’s just April’s thinking. Because half the dresser is dedicated to shoes, and Jackson spends a ridiculous amount of time picking them out for the baby every morning.

Fox girl

Jackson was the one that bought Harriet’s very first toy, long before she was born. It was a stuffed fox, who later became their baby’s best friend. Unbeknownst to him, that small toy would also become the inspiration for the decoration of the entire nursery. Small foxes can be spotted throughout the room... And you can probably guess which Harriet’s favorite animal is.

A bookworm in the making

Books are the key to knowledge, and especially in a time like this Japril aren’t planning on raising their child in ignorance. It was Jackson’s idea to create a ‘reading corner’ where they would make a habit out of reading a little bit of a book every day. Needless to say April got very excited about it.

The huge (for Harriet’s size anyway) teddy bear in the corner was a must in both their eyes. The ladder holds a deeper meaning, symbolizing the ladder of knowledge... but they only thought of that later on, originally they just found it really cute.

And as for the books, we have of course the two inspirations for her name; ‘Harriet the Spy’ and ‘Harriet Tubman’. There’s also ‘Oh the places you’ll go’  [Sarah Drew’s personal favorite], the ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and ‘Charlotte’s Web’ for classics, ‘Tangled’ for Disney [and creator’s personal favorite, bite me] and of course a book of the farm animals for obvious reasons. Oh and a fox one. Always.

Pocahontas much?

A tent in the nursery isn’t a new occurrence, but a teepee is the new trend. And with little Hattie growing by the day, her parents knew she would fall in love with it. Lights in the shape of clouds can be found hanging above it, and stuffed animals of all kinds are waiting to join the little nugget in all sorts of adventures... like possibly painting the place with all the colors of the wind *wink**wink*.

Those damned throw pillows

When Jackson asked April for help in decorating, he certainly saw this coming. He recognized the risks however and chose to move forward with the plan anyway, so you can say he brought it on himself. This little ‘window hide’ idea was obviously April’s, and she is extremely proud of it to this day. He can only roll his eyes.

A toddler’s corner

Harriet has begun to enjoy drawing... if anyone can call it that. New needs call for new adjustments and so this part of the room was added, with the table and the crayons and these more ‘grown up girl’ toys. The walls are decorated with forest-themed stickers including a tree with birds, a bunny, a deer, a hedgehog, a squirrel... and a fox. Duh.

Photo bomb

Throughout the room you can spot little frames of all shapes and sizes, picturing memories of all sorts. Harriet is a sucker for the camera, and Japril just love taking pictures of her, April especially as she loves photography in general.

A picture in particular that holds a special place in both April and Jackson’s hearts is the one of their fingers framing their names written on a birth certificate, which actually belonged to Samuel. It’s sweet and sentimental, and actually not depressing; a perfect little reminder that actually fits the nursery perfectly.

I was tagged by @dynastiasimss​ - Thank you so much for tagging me!! 😊💖💗 This will most definitely get a bit wordy because I’m terrible at explaining things concisely! 😂 Also, I’ll mostly be talking about my process for 2.B.A Grandmaster but I’ll touch on my process for Erin in San Myshuno too!

I’m also going to get tags out of the way up here so that no one has to scroll all the way through this ... absolute novel that is under the cut LMAO so I tag: @cyansimblr  @x-simss @matchacake and any other simblrs who wanna do this!! and feel free to skip if you want!

1. Your writing process My writing process is very, very chaotic, and changes with the wind... Erin in San Myshuno doesn’t really have a process, I just play the game and then put in some dialogue based on the events. None of it is guided by my hand at all though! 2.B.A Grandmaster on the other hand is written in part based on what happens in game and in part by my own creative vision. Most of the time, I let stuff happen, and then fill in the blanks in between events. I go in game, play Sims as I normally would (skill build, take care of needs, go out to venues, etc.) and then watch what weird and interesting things happen. For example, Augusta’s meeting with Xavier in the beginning was completely the game’s doing! He was the only one to show up for the Welcome Wagon event, so I rolled with that. Scenes like Kaitlin’s meeting with Maverick and those sort of things are planned by me, as they’re necessary to create a more full narrative! It’s like collaborative storytelling, but my “partner” is a game that is weird and random and crazy. 😂 After stuff happens in game and I get screenshots, I then actually write for it. I chose to write novel style for the series because - as some of my long-term followers may remember - I had another story that was just screenshots with dialogue on them? And it was very hard, LOL, it didn’t suit my workflow very well and I ended up dropping it after a month or so. I wanted 2.B.A Grandmaster to be something I could post consistently, and so I opted for a style that I was more familiar and experienced with!

2. Scene building For the most part, I just work with what sims gives me, but as I mentioned above, some scenes I actually go to the trouble of setting up. For those, I still use the sims animations mostly (I’ve used poses about 3 times in 2.B.A Grandmaster so far) but I do usher my sims around the "set” as I see fit. I build a lot of my own lots and locations for 2.B.A GM because I tend to get a vision in my mind of what I want and refuse to settle for less. 😂 One such case is the scene where Maverick meets up with Octavia--

I made the alleyway we see here - it’s two entirely empty buildings sandwiched side by side on an otherwise empty lot in Oasis Springs. The only part I bothered to decorate was the alley itself because I knew I wasn’t going to use the rest of the area, but maybe we’ll revisit it sometime and I’ll finish the two buildings! I actually loved making this set and like how it turned out, LOL~

Then I just have whatever sims are involved in a scene interact with each other for ages until I feel like I have enough screenshots to make a scene. I usually have a vague idea of what’s going to be said in any given scene - especially the ones I actually planned out beforehand - but I get some excess screenshots to be safe. I try lots of different interactions and pause like every few frames to get interesting expressions and stuff, LOL. Lots of “Complain about Cold Weather” and “Give fake bad news” ...

3. CC/Pose making I don’t actually make my own CC for 2.B.A GM specifically (I’ve made a couple eyeshadows but I don’t use them super frequently) but there is a scene coming up in the future that I plan to make poses for. I have a very clear image in my mind that includes a lot of subtle expressions and very specific things that I doubt I could find poses for, so I’m gonna have to brave the terrifying landscape of blender in order to make it a reality. 😧

4. Getting in the zone I don’t have any sort of “ok, show time” ritual like some people do but I wish I did, because my motivation waxes and wanes so unpredictably. Some days I just don’t feel like doing anything, and other days I edit and write for 5 posts in a row! I am always listening to something though, usually music, every once in a blue moon a video with lots of talking. 5. Screenshot folder

6. Captions I don’t do captions on 2.B.A GM posts, but for my city living gameplay I do! I keep them simple, because I don’t want to make it too much work for myself. Erin in San Myshuno’s style of editing is 100% based around ease, because I wanted something to post often that didn’t put too much of a strain on me. Verdana in white, typically 35-40 px, with a gradient border. Each sim we encounter has a different gradient color, usually based on their outfit or just the ~vibe~ I get from them. Erin’s gradient is Hot pink to ... gee, what would you call it. Sonic the Hedgehog Blue LMAO-- I chose that gradient because that’s the color of the overlay, which I’ll talk more about in the next section!

7. Editing My two ‘series’ - and I use that term loosely LMAO - have different editing processes, so I’ll try to summarize them both. Basically, for 2.B.A Grandmaster, I touch up the saturation and brightness depending on the scene. If it’s evening in the shots, I usually won’t touch brightness, and if it’s night, I might even lower it a bit for more accurate lighting! Once that’s done, I blur everything but relevant elements of a scene, usually the character we’re following or who is speaking. I have to select the character from the background manually which takes a bit, but other than that it’s very minimal.

My shots aren’t super glamorous, but I prefer simple screenshots and actually being able to keep up with a story schedule as opposed to what happened with my last story. 😬 As for Erin in San Myshuno, barring captions which I only do when I feel it’s necessary, it’s literally just an overlay on otherwise untouched screenshots. 😭 I would do more, but again, it’s supposed to be an easy downtime sort of series for me so~

This goes over top all screenshots on the “Add” setting at 20% opacity. It brightens things up and softens them, as well as making the colors slightly more harmonious! If anyone wants me to go more in depth on editing, or maybe captions, please let me know! I’m happy to talk about it if it’ll help anyone, and I know that a lot of tutorials cover how to do stuff in Photoshop, whereas I use FireAlpaca (which is 100% free btw! It’s more of an art program, but not bad for editing) 8. Throwback!

Oh boy, so this is one of my first posts on simblr. For starters, I didn’t know about camera mode at the time, so that’s the first thing I would change obviously LOL. 😬 The framing I did at the time was ... cute, but it makes the pictures feel kind of cramped and small in my opinion, so I did away with that for all of my later stories. Also, Amy and Gemma aren’t very well centered in this picture! Other than that, this isn’t actually terrible I don’t think, so aside from maybe blurring the background as I do on 2.B.A GM now, I wouldn’t change too much! Thankfully, I had observed other people’s stories before making my own on here for a little bit, so I wasn’t starting with absolutely no idea what to do, but I still think I’ve improved since I made these. 😊

tim for the yandere alphabet ?

For this I’m going for a CP vibe, so this is mainly Masky behavior, but I don’t think he really wears the mask around his darling. 

TW: Not to bad, mentions of hitting and abuse. Murder and whatnot. Yanderes are very unhealthy in real life babes!!!!!! 

Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?

Before meeting you, Tim wasn’t a very touchy or affectionate person. Although that changes when he finally has you safe in his arms, he becomes almost suffocatingly affectionate at times. He’ll trap you in a bear hug, your face pressed into his chest and his limbs wrapped tight around you. Good luck getting out any time soon, because he’s going to get his daily snuggle time. 

Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?

Very. Bloody. His first plan wouldn’t be to kill all your friends and family, but he certainly would if he felt like he had to. He can’t have anyone prying into things they shouldn’t see, or trying to take you away from him, so if he thinks someone is close to getting in the way, they’re gone.

Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them?

He would only be mocking or cruel if his darling didn’t immediately accept him. He’s going to become frustrated and angry at every little snap or cry, god forbid you try pushing him away or fighting back, because that’s when he’s gonna get really pissed off. He’s a naturally very angry person, and not even his darling is totally protected from it. 

Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?

Snuggling for sure. Especially in the beginning when you’re still scared of him. Just like in Affection, he’ll trap you in his arms for hours until you calm down and accept his love. 

He also likes to control what you wear and do. You’ll be put into a lot of his clothes, or just things he think you’d look cute in. He likes having as much control as possible, so he enjoys picking things like that out for you. 

Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?

Tim remains completely closed off, emotionally, even to his darling. In his mind, it’s his job to remain strong and protect you, so he always has to be on guard. There are points sometimes though where those walls will come down, and you’ll see how he really feels. 

Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?

Like I mentioned in Cruelty, he’d be incredibly frustrated and confused. He’s given you everything you could need, what more do you want??? If his darling fights back, he’ll become a lot more likely to punish them or take away rights, so they’ll be forced to see just how much they need him. 

Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?

This. Is. Not. A. Game. He’d be BEYOND pissed off if his darling even tried to escape, not to even mention if they succeeded. If his darling managed to get out, well, first of all good luck, because now you’re just lost in the middle of a forest with other killers and an eldritch being in it. And second of all, he’s going to get blinding tunnel vision. He’s not going to rest until he’s caught you and dragged you home by your hair. He doesn’t care how much you scream or cry or beg- you betrayed him. 

Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?

(Maybe not the worst, but definitely still bad. The first time you realized just how willing he is to hurt you if you defy him.)

“I...I’m sorry, baby, but you know you shouldn’t make me mad like that.”

You flinch away from him when his gloved hand reaches up to stroke your swollen cheek, wiping away a tear. He pulls your cowering body in close, pressing your red face to his chest. 

“Don’t ever do that again. Okay? Next time, I might not be able to hold back.”

Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?

Tim hasn’t thought much about the future in specifics. Overall, he just wants to live out this ‘normal’ fantasy, in your own little world where everything is okay. This is his future. Coming home after work everyday to his darling, that’s all. 

Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope? 

He’s extremely jealous. Of everything. Before he whisked you away, his skin would start to itch at any little interaction you had. The waiter’s playful banter, the girl who complimented your outfit, the dog you stopped to pet- He mostly just bottled it up and seethed in private. 

Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?

He tries (keyword, tries) to make your relationship as normal as possible. Of course his concept of ‘normal’ is a little distorted at this point. Very suffocating and overprotective. You’ve very rarely find yourselves in separate areas of the house, because he’ll always want to be with you. 

Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?

He doesn’t. He silently pined after them then kidnapped them when it became too much for him to handle. They probably had no idea he was even romantically interested in them. 

Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?

He’s more laid back around his darling once he starts trusting them more, but he hides any semblance of you and being in love around others. Not because it’s weak or he’s ‘hiding his true, soft self’ or whatever, but because he’s literally that paranoid of someone taking you away. 

Naughty: How would they punish their darling?

His go-to is isolation. Locking you up in your room for a few days with only the bare minimum of what you need to survive. This way, maybe you’ll be a little more grateful for everything he does for you once you’re let out. And while violence isn’t his first choice and he doesn’t like purposefully hurting his darling like that, he can and has lost control before. 

Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling? 

Mentioned above in Naughty. He’d take away essentially everything if he felt like he had to. You’d might as well be in solitary confinement. He might even chain you up if you’ve done something he’s deemed unforgivable, like trying to escape. 

Patience: How patient are they with their darling?

His patience with his darling is higher than it is with anyone else, but that’s not really saying much. He can be forgiving if his darlings makes a genuine mistake, not so much if they defy him on purpose. 

Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?

If his darling escaped- absolutely not. He’d kick himself every minute of every day, thinking about what he could’ve done better to make you stay (more accurately, how he could’ve better trapped you). If you got out, you’d better hope they’ll accept you into Witness Protection, because he’s going to be hunting you down for the rest of your lives. He won’t accept anything else. 

He’s even more devastated if his darling dies. ESPECIALLY if you die while in his care. Any sanity he might’ve had left would fray and snap, leaving him an empty shell and completely unstable. 

Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?

He’d feel bad about it if his darling cried a lot or clearly said that they missed their home/family. And while he would feel bad that they were upset, he would never consider giving them up. Sure they’re sad but it’s for the best. He’s the only one that can keep you safe, after all. 

Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?

Pretty much every person that’s been important to Tim has either died or abandoned him. He stays so protective and possessive of his darling because he can’t handle losing another person- especially not his darling. 

Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?

He’d feel bad if he did something to make his darling cry, but he might start getting irritated if they were yelling or being loud. His solution is usually to let you just cry it out and get over it. All you need is a little time to adjust, you’ll learn to love him soon enough. 

Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?

The only thing that may be different than typical yandere behavior is that he at least tries to act sweet and caring and at least kind of normal.

Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?

He can be mean as sin sometimes but he still has a soft spot for his darling. He can definitely be manipulated by his darling if they play along with his little fantasy. I don’t think he could be sweet talked into giving you anything that might aid your escape, though, he’s ultra paranoid about that. But you can certainly trick him into giving you more rights or whatever else it is you might want. Snuggle up to him, initiate affection, tell him you love him even if you’re lying through your teeth- he’ll melt like putty. 

Wit’s end: Would they ever hurt their darling?

Not on purpose, but when he does he’s the king of gaslighting you into thinking it was your fault somehow. 

Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over?

How much he worships his darling would depend on them. If his darling accepts his love and returns it? 100%. He’ll do his absolute damndest to treat you like royalty. He’d also try pretty fucking hard to get you to that point of loving him back- he doesn’t want you to pretend to love him, he wants you to love him as much as he loves you. If his darling is good, he’ll reward them frequently to try and win them over. 

Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?

A pretty long time, actually. You probably just start off as a friend or acquaintance, and he keeps you at arm’s length for a long time. Tim has convinced himself that getting close to people only gets them hurt, but he catches himself thinking about you so often, and he starts to spiral. He needs you, but what if you get hurt because of him? What if you get taken away like everyone else? This thought eventually spirals into you need him. He needs to save you from this cruel world, and protect you. To answer the question, it’s probably at least a few months. 

Zenith: Would they ever break their darling?

Again, not on purpose, but it’s certainly possible depending on what kind of person his darling is. Accidently breaking his darling is probably one of his worst nightmares.

ngl i've Never, In My LIFE, done any singing or acting outside of puppet shows when i was in like the 3rd grade but every time i watch TGM i'm more and more like "GOD i wanna be cast as Barkilphedro" and i don't even know why? like why would i want to be the greasy clown nasty? He has No Rights? I Don't Like Him Or Sympathize With Him At All? And Yet???? It must be a calling.

ngl Barkilphedro has No Rights and he gets No Sympathy from me but i do feel sorry for him when he talks about his mother. also sucks for him that he wasted so much time hoping his loyalty to Clarence would pay off, only to get nothing but mockery in return. also also as 'comical' as the Erotic Breakfast Dance scene is played it's still...really gross and Not Okay. This dude's 100% culpable for his actions and he made his own choices and is absolutely slimy but it's like those bits in LotR when they talk about Bilbo pitying Gollum. idk i just kinda hate that ol' Barky let himself be twisted into such a wretched creature. He crossed the No Rights line the night he decided to carve up a kid's face tho and just kept right on going.

okay so i've seen some comments around about Clarence's "How do you keep your pecker up" remark and just thought i'd- dude's fingernails. wow they're so shiny. ahem -mention here that i've looked into this expression before and it's actually a term that i guess is mainly used in England or something and it's like nose = beak = 'pecker' as in birds which ‘peck’ things with their beaks. It's basically the same as "keep your chin up". Snufkin says it to Moomin. I mean with Clarence i wouldn't put it past him to mean it another way but also given where the show is set it makes sense he would use such a term.

Good Omens: Italian and French version.

I read for the first time Good Omens in English thinking that the religious topic would be a bother to me but was actually very enjoyable. 

Then I decided to read it in Italian and French, and I saw the series in these 3 languages to see the differences between the sub/dub and guys...what experience.  So here a list of strange differences that made me laugh/cry/get angry as fuck cause knowing different languages is always a funny road to Hell:

--In Italian, the tittle’s book isn’t Good Omens (that should translate in Buona profezia), but it would sound weird, so they changed it in “Buona Apocalisse a tutti!” (Happy Apocalypse, Everyone!) Honestly, a mood.

--Let’s take a moment to appreciate the two covers book of two different editions from the Italian version. I have the first one where we have this two cute thingy embraced and the second one is...ahahah just look how Crowley seems distraught by Aziraphale. I can hear him muttering “What the fuck, angel.”

--When in a book/series they change the name of some character it’s always a pain to me but at least in Good Omens made me laugh so hard that I felt sick so I think that at the end of the day is fine. In the Italian version, Aziraphale is “Azraphel”, and I can still hear the translators discussing: “Oh, Aziraphale is too difficult to pronounce, we should change it.” “Ok, how should we call him?” “Azraphel.” “But...” “It’s easier to pronounce.” *whispering* “Dude, it isn’t.” --But in the French version, they did even worse since that “Anthony J. Crowley” is “Terrence Rampa”. (Why. Just why. Have you all drunk too much champagne in the shadow of the Eiffel tower on a full moon? How could you ever think it was a good idea? It isn’t pronounced more easily, I don’t have a perfect French pronunciation, but Terrence Rampa doesn’t sound better in French. For the love of someone, stop it.) While in the series is Anthony J. Rampa. (You just decided to make angry, admit it.) --The “Angel” thingy. Ok, you see, Angelo in Italian is a common name (it’s one of my brother’s names lmao) and God forbid we get confused so in the book we have “Angioletto.” (little angel but 300% cuter) and we have “Angelo Mio” (My angel, but you should read it like a lover gently whispering this on your ear while you’re waking after a night you spent kissing in bed, cause I’m pretty sure 100% of the people thought about this while they were reading it.) --The “Angel” thingy in French is even more romantic. You can’t call me “Mon Ange” without make me going on a mental trip where we will get married in a summer day on the beach, and then spend the rest of my life cooking something nice for lunch while our children, Mohamed and Genevieve, play soccer together, and my lovely wife is tending the garden. (Cause we don’t stand for gender roles) --The voices. Ok, maybe is cause I saw Good Omens with the original audio too many times...but how is it possible that we fucked up with the actor dubber? Guys, we’re usually good at this. Crowley's voice is Christian Iansante that it wasn’t a big surprise and a little less disappointing since I spent all my childhood hearing his voice since he dubbed the tenth doctor. But Aziraphale’s voice is so wrong. Isn’t him at all. 0/100 guys, they didn’t even try.  --In the French version Aziraphale is perfect cause...he’s so anxious. It made me laugh so hard, there’s the car scene where is going to have a heart attack.  The Bastille scene made me crack cause I was curious to know how they would show that he didn’t know how to speak french (How’s that possible? I mean he talks Japanese but not french? but...during Madame Tracy’s possession he asks “Parlez-vous français?” Aziraphale, just admit you wanted to show your bomb-ass outfit to Crowley and get over it.) ahem, anyway, in that scene he just stutters and says “Sorry, I’m anxious.” My father reaction was: *whipping his own tears away* “Me too, Aziraphale.”

--Ligur French’s voice is sexy. Like...obscenely hot.  I watched the french version for the first time with my girlfriend (she’s French) and the conversation after his first line was like: *Ligur first line* My girlfriend: “Oh, oui, bend me over your desk Monsieur Ligur and punish me cause I’ve been a bad girl.” “Babe, I’m still here.” *Ligur’s second line* “Ok, I see your point, but still...” We also had a little fight over “Is the Crowley-radio-version voice or Ligur French voice sexier?” and seems like, after a night spent discussing, Ligur won, but I still stand for Crowley’s voice being sexier just for the principle of things.  --In the Italian version Crowley doesn't say “Ciao.” but “au revoir“ and when Ligur asked, “What does it mean?”  Hastur said “French, it means food.” but the word “French” is told with so much disgust that made me crack cause I see that we still put our long rivalry between French and Italians on display. Knowing this is so much funnier. 

--Again, the Italian's version book made a change that I didn’t understand for a long time (we discussed it with my father for so long and drag in this hellhole my whole family) cause in the book Crowley isn’t a demon but a devil. After so long, my grandmother just dropped the bomb informing us that “Demons are good or bad entities, but devils are the fallen angels who revolted against God and followed Satan.” so it’s more accurate say to say Crowley is a devil, not a demon.  Honestly, I think that in Good Omens universe works better the word demon since the whole point of the book was that angels and demons aren’t good or evil, they just playing their role but they can be as much good as evil. (Aziraphale is a bastard, Crowley is kind) --Remaining on this topic for a moment, I always had this feeling that the angels are more similar from the Muslim vision of angels. For them, Angels can have flaws and make mistakes and aren’t perfect since only God is perfect. Or at least, I’m atheist, and my cousin explained this to me, so I’m open to any discussion.

--Wow. In the french version Crowley (I refuse to call him Rampa) is rude. He calls Aziraphale “Ducon” that is a common swear in French but disagreeable, Crowley wouldn’t ever call Aziraphale that way. Crowley, I know that you just had a tough week but wow, not cool buddy.

  --I mean, I knew that watching Good Omens in French and Italian would make me cry considering we don’t have the whole gender-neutral pronouns, but I don’t see why you should confusing me this way. At least French decided to stay with one pronoun and deal with it while Italian is just...ok, I understand we are chaotic by nature but can we stop just for a moment? God has a female voice (good, cause I would have riot) but they use male pronouns for them. Why? Too worried to get excommunicated by the pope? We still get anxious at the idea that God could be a woman? Guys, it’s 2020, get over it. Michael pronouns are male, and this is fair to me cause I have a whole headcanon about this and I will write it soon.  Pollution pronouns are female, male, female again. The translator must have thought “If we change enough times, they won’t notice.” Beelzebub is female (Uhm), but they still use “Lord” Beelzebub and it’s ok I presume (Hey, women can be Lords too!) No, it sounds horrible considering we had this bad habit to translate everything...Signor Beelzebub sounds like they’re in charge of a carnival parade, not Hell. We could stay with “Lord” and no one would get confused by this cause we know that “Lord” is a noble title in England and this is a British comedy. We don’t have to translate everything-everything.  I mean, for these characters...why didn’t use the plural? Would sound a bit weird at start maybe but at least no one would be offended. (Not that I’m offended, to be clear, but someone could be.)

--The Italian version made me burst in flame at some point when I noticed that they tried to cancel the whole thing “Aziraphale and Crowley are a couple” avoiding every time the “my angel” in the dubb. I didn’t notice the first time, but Hell. Fortunately, Micheal Sheen and David Tennant make us saw the love even without words. Also, a point for Christian Iansante, Crowley’s dubber, cause he can make a high pitch voice when his character is panicking. We cried for “Non Voglio Andarmene.” (I don’t want to go) from Doctor who with him, we cried for the bookshop fire cause Crowley is 1000% more upset than the original version. (We stand for the drama) At the end of the day, I still remain on the facts that books and series/films should be read/watch with the original audio. I also think that reading/watching them in other languages is very interesting and a lot of fun, so I don’t think I have a definite opinion. It’s just fun. For the voices, I was convinced by Crowley for the Italian version and for Aziraphale from the french, while Italian Aziraphale is a big no and “Rampa” is rude and seems...he isn’t Crowley. I don’t know how to explain.  From the back, someone is saying that the only voice that is winning is PornFrenchLigur and I have to agree with this.

I spend my life watching others

I woke up around 11, instead of getting up, I held my phone up against my face and started scrolling past random things. I bounced from one app to another Instagram, WeChat, TikTok, email, and ultimately ending up on youtube. The whole day went by, I did not leave my bed except for when I had to eat or go to the bathroom. I spend it watching strangers talking bout their skincare routine, strangers talking about their relationships, their first kisses, their work out routine, strangers cooking using very tiny dull house utensils..cutting mushrooms... I am explicitly aware this is an absolute waste of time. As the day starts to slip away like sand, I start to feel stiff, dizzy, and uncomfortably warm in my bed. Anxiety is building up in the background as the light in my room started to fade. Yet I could not tear my eyes away. It was around eight when I finally jumped up. As a way to prevent getting sucked in again, I got out this crochet lime green top I got from the thrift store last week. It fit like a glove. As I studied myself in the mirror and a voice started narrating in my brain automatically: “ Guys listen, I found this top last week at the thrift stores for five dollars! Can you believe it?? Only five dollars! The low V cut really shows off the collar bones. And the back!... I mean you are essentially wearing nothing but isn’t it cute how…” Much like when I binge-watched Slavoj Zizek lectures and ended up with his voice in my head narrating my life for a good few weeks( sniff” sniff” and so and so on). Now I have this disembodied influencer voice, approving my outfit, showing it off to my nonexisting audience in front of a nonexistent camera. Annoyed at that voice, I decided to go for a walk.

Walking outside, engulfed in the outdoors but I could not shake the stench of the internet, the narration in my head continues on as I fantasize about the aerial view of this sunset. Even though I am walking around in a real, unmediated world, I feel like my whole experience is mediated by the internet. All of this brought back to the mind of a particular documentary I saw in high school. I found it on the internet again and the description brought chills down my spine: "With Quiet, Harris proved how, in the not-so-distant future of life online, we will willingly trade our privacy for the connection and recognition we all deeply desire. Through his experiments, including another six-month stint living under 24-hour live surveillance online which led him to mental collapse, he demonstrated the price we will all pay for living in public…” The documentary is called We live in public. It followed an dot-com millionaire josh harris, who in the late nineties conducted different social experiments using the fortune he made in the silicon valley. One of the experiments was an art project title we live in public. The experient placed more than 100 artists in a human terrarium under New York City, with myriad webcams following and capturing every move the artists made. The facility was a Japanese-style capsule hotel outfitted with cameras in every pod, and screens that allowed each occupant to monitor the other pods. The documentary managed some explicit depiction of the desire for attention in the participants. This desire became extremely disturbing and contorted as the documentary went on. 

I remember that all of this was set in this some dingy, cyberpunk Esque, underground bunker, filled to the brim with sexually open, thrill-seeking, “artistic types”. All living with each other with no privacy, constantly performing, and watching for each other. The documentary claimed that this is going to be our collective future. It sounded crazy to me at the time, as I thought this is only attractive to artists seeking attention and expression, not a plan for all. However, just a short 11 years later, It just occurred to me that the prophecy came true. Everyone has interpreted a sense of performativity through social media. I think about how Instagram really motivated people to go to the museum. The system somehow requires them to clock in front of art objects. In the words of George Orwell: “ there was, of course, no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment ... you had to live ... in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized" This is statement is only halfway accurate for describing our present situation. Orwell was still critiquing the government that is oppressing and ordering its people through surveillance. Foucault also made a similar remark in Discipline and Punish. He argued that the disciplinary society had emerged in the 18th century and that discipline is techniques for assuring the ordering of human complexities, with the ultimate aim of docility and utility in the system. However, I want to argue, in 2020 the real oppression does not come from the fantastical FBI agent monitoring your screen. rather, it was other internet users, other performers. We are living in a far more interesting time than that of Foucault and Orwell. In the worlds of Deleuze: “ "enclosures are molds... but controls are a modulation". Deleuze observed that technology had allowed physical enclosures, such as schools, factories, prisons, and office buildings, to be replaced by a self-governing machine, which extends surveillance in a quest to manage production and consumption. The real police here are other internet users. They are not only performing but also at the same time setting up a standard of behavior. Rules and ideas of how to live, what to do, what to wear, and how to live your life. Are we ready for a good ol’ fashioned Grimm fight readers? I hope you are! So this is the final chapter to contain footage from the trailer, and all that’s left from that are the outfits and the fights in the mines. So… this should be an interesting one. The past two chapters have been pretty strong, so can this one continue the streak? Well, let’s take a look~!

Overview

We actually get multiple perspectives in the beginning, so let’s go in chronological order. First is Clover briefing Ruby, Jaune, and Qrow on the upcoming mission, which is to clear the launch site for Amity Colosseum. The plan is to use an abandoned Dust Mine… but it’s Grimm infested, so they gotta get rid of those nasty buggers first. I really like seeing Ruby and Jaune there and being respected as the respective leaders of their teams. They feel like actual Huntsmen now… which if one zooms in on the holo-screen, we see that they’re labeled as active Huntsmen now! Yay~! Anyways, after the briefing, Pietro gives everyone containers containing their upgraded weapons, modified by both requests and based on what he saw in Vytal Festival footage, and new outfits! Everyone preps, including Ruby… but then Oscar approaches her. We’ll go into that one in a bit. For now though, everyone is ready to go, but Oscar remains behind in Atlas. Still, we see everyone use landing strategies, including Jaune. The boy has grown~! Also, new song~! Love it~!!! 

So it’s Team RWBY with Marrow and Harriet, JNR with Elm and Vine, and finally Qrow and Clover. We get a cute Bumblebee moment as Ruby feels cold, likely from the very brief amount of Aura she depleted when landing. Which we saw on Blake’s Scroll, which all of those were also updated! But when Blake mentions leaving Oscar behind, Yang stops Ruby to question about her lying to Ironwood. Ruby is clearly uncomfortable with this, but justifies it by bringing up the current state of Atlas and Mantle. Blake and Weiss back her up and agree that for now, they should hold back on revealing everything about Jinn, Oz, and Salem. Ruby even says that she /will/ tell Ironwood eventually… but she goes quiet when Yang asks about how Oscar took it. We flashback to Ruby handing Oscar the Lamp since… well, she’s about to go on a mission and having a Relic/Grimm Magnet out in the open could be a bad thing. But Oscar then asks the million-dollar question; isn’t Ruby doing to Ironwood what Oz did to them? We see Ruby look conflicted… but we don’t see her response.

For now, the mission is underway with all the groups going through different sections of the Mines. We get a few bits like Clover asking Qrow about being on a team before, but Qrow responding that working alone tends to be easier. Ouch. We have Nora trying to compliment Ren’s new look… but he dodges the topic. Because we haven’t seen that kind of scene in everything in existence ever. Over with RWBY, they run into a cave-in… which causes Blake to recognize the Mine that they are in. One where an explosion happened, and while no one says it, likely killed several Faunus. Hmm… could this be the same accident that killed Ilia’s parents perhaps? Anyways, this makes Weiss feel guilty for her father’s horrible actions as well as how complacent about it she used to be. Marrow, who is also a Faunus, even pipes in about how due to Atlas’ system/society, humans always stand back and allow his kind to be mistreated despite benefiting from them while they have to do nothing. Plus there are those who still willingly abuse them, like the Schnee Dust Company. After all, again it isn’t said, but remember what we found out was under Adam’s mask…

Anyways, they’ve found a way through via a gap and send Blake in since she can fit through/see in the dark. At first, it all looks clear and with no Dust around they can just blast their way through. But things quickly change as Blake encounters the Geist Grimm. As such, Harriet breaks the wall with her weapon, which seems to give her cybernetic armor. Nice! Before they can give chase, however, they are confronted by some kind of... ugh… bug Grimm. Centipedes maybe? Evil caterpillars? IDK, but they’re creepy as Hell and with my fear of bugs, you can only imagine how much of a joy this was for me.

Cue the action sequence! We get to see some of the upgrades as Yang can now attach miniature bombs to the Grimm that she punches, while Ruby can turn her scythe blade around which increases her trajectory. JNR, Elm, and Vine also get into a fight and we see that the blades on Ren’s guns now have grappling abilities. But we also get to see what the Ace-Ops can do. Marrow has a boomerang/sword/gun hybrid and seems to be able to freeze things… not like with ice, just stop them from moving. Elm can root herself in place while Vine is more or less Mr. Fantastic from Fantastic Four, but it looks like only with his arms. Harriet has a Speed Semblance, something that Ruby excitedly points out since she too has a Speed Semblance. Make a note of that for the end kids!

Back with Qrow and Clover, they’re facing the Geist as Clover tells everyone to head for his location. Unfortunately, it’s able to possess a boulder-sized chunk of ice and begins to have more form the body. Qrow sees that a metal grate is going to collapse due to this and just barely warns Clover, but the Geist is able to go down further into the mines. Qrow reveals his Bad Luck Semblance as to why he was able to warn Clover as well as how he can’t 100% control it. But Clover reveals his own Semblance, which as we all guessed, is Good Fortune. To say that Qrow looks less than happy about it, well… no, that seems pretty accurate. Less than happy. 

Everyone reaches the location, but the Geist has already proceeded to add what I assume is Gravity Dust to its body. So they can’t just smash it the way that RNJR did in V4 since… well… I imagine that exploding Gravity Dust would NOT end well. Before RWBY or JNR can do anything, Ace-Ops is already on the move. It’s a really cool sequence! We get to see how well Ace-Ops works together, seeming to know each others strengths and able to coordinate ad improvise very well off of each other. It’s like with Team RWBY when they coordinate attacks, but there’s this more… professional, higher-skilled atmosphere when watching them in action. They also are able to coordinate knocking off the Dust Crystals and catching them before they hit the ground. It’s an awesome display that clearly has RWBY and JNR awed, and I imagine it’s going to inspire them for later on.

The battle ends with Clover using his fishing line to rip the Grimm straight out of its ice body and Harriet delivering the killing blow. Daaaamn. With the Geist gone though, Dust Crystals start to fall and Ace-Ops starts to round them up. Before Harriet can grab the last one, Ruby beats her to it with the usage of her Petal Burst. But this brings up something… interesting. Harriet helps Ruby up, but she also points out that compared to other Speed Semblances she’s seen, Ruby’s Semblance… doesn’t appear to be Speed Based. Or at least, it’s not the main thing. There may just be something more to it. We don’t get a lot of time to ponder it though as Clover reports the mission as accomplished. But we don’t end on a happy note. We see Forest dropped off back in Mantle… where he runs into Tyrian. Our episode ends with Tyrian striking with his tail, and I think you can figure out Forest’s fate without me needing to say it.

Review

So far… this is my least favorite chapter. But that’s not saying much when we’re only three chapters in. And even then, I really enjoyed this one!

Let’s go over the outfits and upgrades first. It… was a little underwhelming. I was hoping for some more character stuff like Blake debating on cutting her hair and thinking about where she is now compared to back then. Instead… we just have her looking into a mirror. Jaune we at least saw tracing his fingers over his Pyrrha sash. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the sequences fine and I LOVE the results! Everyone looks so good! Even Jaune, who’s new hair I hated the most looks great! I just wanted… well, a little bit more. Still, very least nothing drags like they’d run the risk of if they did extend it, so it is what it is. The upgrades are all fantastic as well! Not sure if we’ve seen all of them, but Ruby, Yang, Jaune, and Ren’s? Love ‘em~!

I also wish that we had more follow-up after the last episode regarding Ruby. I’m happy that Yang and Oscar did question it and I liked Blake and Weiss voicing their support for Ruby. But we don’t get to hear from Ruby about how she feels about her own choices. We can tell that she isn’t happy, but we don’t get to hear her talk about it. I know, that’s kind of her thing and it’s gonna be a matter of when the floodgates finally break open. Still, I just wish that we could hear her perspective about it, but I guess we have to wait. But I did like it being brought up and Oscar asking about it being like what Oz did to them. Take that people who called it bad writing!

Those nitpicks aside, this episode was great! We get to truly see the Ace-Ops in action and they are fantastic! Especially at the end! All of them come off as very likable and have this sense of comradery between them. They work together incredibly well, feeling very coordinated and in tandem with each other. Might be because they’re a military unit, but still. My favorite one so far is probably Harriet since imo she has the most personality with her competitiveness, but has this older sister kind of vibe. Marrow is probably a close second though, especially with how he points out how Faunus are put down by Atlas’ system. It might have been his weird way of making Weiss feel better and not put all the blame about her complacency on her since it’s very much a society issue. It was nice to see someone who seems to be on top despite his status recognize the problem is still very much existent.

Speaking of, there’s a lot of good subtle things in this episode regarding the SDC. We see Weiss push snow off a crate, and her face when she sees the company initials just screams guilt. We see her express this regarding how she used to be and how her father treated the Faunus as she recalls his anger when the accident happens. Speaking of, the possibility of it being where Ilia’s parents died? Nice! Blake’s unnerved reaction as she recognizes where they are and how she clearly feels sad about the lives lost shows how dedicated to Faunus Rights she still is and how much better her and Weiss’ relationship is. We’re likely gonna see the true darkness of the SDC this volume especially after seeing Adam’s scar/brand, and it ain’t gonna be pretty for either girl, so it’s good to have that solidarity between them.

The Mines looked like… well, a mine. So not much to say on the design work, but it was good. The fights were great, especially with Ace-Ops. Music was good, both the score and the new vocal track that played, as brief as it was. I know it's WAAAAY too early, but… SOUNDTRACK NOW PLEASE! The pacing was good. Some nice bits like Bumblebee flirting, Jaune and Nora pouting at Elm’s comment about them not dying, Ruby fangirling over Harriet’s Semblance, Qrow’s still lingering self-loathing about Team STRQ and then meeting a guy who has Good Luck powers. There are just so many good things in this episode. I still have my nitpicks like what I mentioned above, and the ‘Nora compliments Ren and gets mad when he changes the subject’ scene because it’s just so… predictable and not funny, cute, or insightful. I’d have cut it personally. But nothing in this episode was badly done. It was standard RWBY quality, which is great~

Last thing that I can think to note is Ruby’s Semblance. As we learn from Harriet, there’s more to it going on than Ruby may have believed. And… I am all for this! It’s been said multiple times how Semblances constantly grow and evolve over time, and we’ve seen that with people like Weiss. It’s been debated a lot about how it doesn’t seem like Ruby’s Semblance is simple speed with rose petals trailing her since at least Volume 4. What is the true extent of her Semblance? I don’t have an exact idea, but I do believe that the rose petals play a part in it. Especially since my headcanon for a long time is that Summer’s Semblance is being able to turn/scatter into rose petals. Which… has me concerned considering the “Thus Kindly She Scatters” inscription on Summer’s grave. Does Ruby have a similar ability? IDK, but I’m excited to find out~!

Chapter Four Predictions

So as it turns out, the thumbnail/description for this episode came out the same day as the premiere. So I have a good idea of what’s likely going to happen. Going off the title, ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ I think that this is going to mark the return of Jaques Schnee. I know, I hate it too, but it was gonna happen sooner or later. Makes sense since he’s likely going to launch some kind of campaign in Mantle and stir up trouble there that’s likely gonna effect RWBY’s efforts to help the city. Especially for poor Weiss cause as Chapter 2 demonstrated, Mantle does not have a happy view of the Schnee Family. Not sure if we’ll see Mama Schnee or Whitley, though the latter has a good chance, but yeah, asshole dad may very well be making his return. I hope that Weiss kicks him.

But on the upside, due to that and them being in Mantle, I think that we might have a very good chance of Robyn finally appearing. Chapter 4 feels like a very good place to bring her in and let her counter Jaques efforts, as well as letting us see what she and her allies can really do. She is Robin Hood after all, so she’s probably up for some thievery and mischief! We also might hear about Tyrian’s murder spree cause that’s probably gonna cause some tension between Mantle and Atlas. It’s gonna be Beacon all over again kids!

Final Thoughts

Overall, competent episode. Not my favorite since I felt it was lacking a lot of the tension and drama of Chapter 2 and the draw-in power of Chapter 1. But by no means is it a bad chapter. It accomplishes all that it set out to do and did it well. It fleshed out the Ace-Ops and made them more interesting characters that you want to see more of. It’s a fun episode that may not progress much in the way of plot or drama outside some minor bits, but it was an enjoyable watch. Which at the end of the day, is all that I could ask for~

I'm starting to think that Venomous and Shadowy Figure aren't twin brothers but one of them is the turbonic form of Laserblast. It's hard to say for sure which one is the turbo form because while Venomous is similar in personality to Laserblast ( Calm and collected, likes cute animals, romantically attracted to those who show strength. ) it feels like Shadowy Figure is more actively fit, carefree, goofy, and seems to genuinely care for K.O which gives him heroic traits.

I think Venomous and Shadowy Figure are brothers (maybe nottwins), and Shadowy Figure is Laserblast. However, Shadowy isn’tturbo!Laserblast. Which sounds confusing, but I’ll try to explain.

Coincidences happen all the time in real life. But OK KO isa story, and coincidences don’t happen nearly as often in stories. This storyhas only two purple snake people. Not two prominentpurple snake people, two purple snake people period. And they’re both voiced by Steven Ogg! They’re connected somehow.To fit with the show’s themes of family and identity, they’re either related orthe same person. (If someone can think of a third option that would fit, I’dlove to hear it.)

Ven and Shadowy aren’t the same person. Shadowy is veryfixated on KO and his power. Wouldn’t figuring out how to obtain it be aninteresting and complex project for Ven? But Ven had been dealing withlong-term boredom as of “Boxman Crashes”. Wouldn’t he have at least mentionedbeing frustrated at “not making progress” or being “stuck on a problem”? Thosetwo puzzle pieces don’t fit together.

Also, Shadowy Figure made a huge tactical blunder that wouldn’t have happened if he wasVenomous. When Fink was upset she couldn’t go to the party in “Villain’s Night In”, Ven apologized for disappointing her (via text, but still an apology). Every good parent knows the powerof an apology. And from a strategic standpoint, Shadowy should have apologizedfor hurting KO. I doubt he feels guilty about it, but when has the idea oflying ever stopped people like him? The second time he interacted with KO wasin “Let’s Have a Stakeout”. He acted manipulative, insulted KO, and physicallyattacked him. What if he hadn’t done that? What if he had met KO in the sewersand said, “I’m sorry”?

“KO, I’m sorry for what happened to the Plaza. If I hadknown the true extent of your power I would never have pushed you so hard inthe first place. I wanted to help you, but I wasn’t careful enough and wound uphurting you and many others instead. This is all my fault, and I am so, sosorry.”

Suddenly KO doesn’t feel quite so guilty for wrecking thePlaza, because Shadowy has taken the blame instead. Suddenly this guy isn’t anenemy, but a potential ally who just made a mistake. People forgive KO when hemakes mistakes, shouldn’t he do the same? And so what if Shadowy’s POW cardsays he’s level negative eight? KO’s card obviously isn’t accurate, so maybeShadowy’s isn’t either!

Maybe KO starts to trust Shadowy again, putting him in theideal situation to be manipulated. Carol and Gar and everyone else would thinkhis new friend was evil, so KO can’t tell them he’s visiting Shadowy. Shadowywants to fix this, so maybe it’s okay for him to take a few hair and salivasamples. Both want KO to use this power responsibly, so maybe he’d considerpracticing with it… just a little…

But Shadowy isn’t Venomous, so he messed up and none of thathappened. It would have been so cool,though.

Since Ven and Shadowy are not the same person, they must berelated. I only call them brothers for convenience, they could be cousins orsomething.

Where does Laser fit into this? Well, he’s not dead. Acharacter isn’t confirmed dead if nobody finds the body. And it doesn’t makesense for him to have said “screw this” and gone off to chill on a tropicalisland for the past six to eleven years without letting anyone know he wasokay. He must still be relevant. “Where did Laser go?” and “Where did Shadowycome from?” are questions that easily answer one another.

Both the blue and green orbs activated in the “Let’s Take aMoment” flashback. It’s possible the red orb also activated, removing Laser’spowers. Laser is clearly KO’s father. Children tend to inherit their powersfrom their parents. Shadowy wants KO’s power, but we don’t know the reason. Laserhas a reason, though. Them being the same person would fill in that blank verynicely.

While Shadowy is morecarefree and goofy than Laser, Shadowy isn’t under the pressure of Being a GoodExample, Not Disappointing Foxtail, and Not Blowing His Cover. I’m much morepolite and formal at my job than I am at home. This difference in personalitycan likely be chalked up to a difference in environment. Goofy isn’t inherentlya heroic trait either, Boxman is very goofy but he is absolutely a villain.

I don’t see any evidence for the Laser=Ven idea. While theirpersonalities are similar, it’s possible that’s just due to being raised in thesame environment. Sure, Ven has something to do with turbo power, but hisinterest in KO specifically is minimal, even though KO is apparently a sourceof it. He doesn’t seem to prioritize antagonizing KO over Rad or Enid. He hasno reason to attack the Plaza or its members other than to have fun withBoxman. We haven’t seen him interact with or comment on Carol. His opinion onP.O.I.N.T. seems to be wholly negative instead of wistful or bittersweet. Therearen’t enough strings linking the two for me to think they’re the same person.

Laserblast is Shadowy Figure, and that person is Venomous’brother. “Shadowblast” wants KO’s power so he can restore his own. But thepower he wants isn’t just turbo power. In “Boxman Crashes”, Venbecame more snakelike when he lost his temper. Ven has shapeshifting abilities,but he doesn’t use them a lot because he fights with science instead of hisbody. His brother Shadowy may have also had shapeshifting abilities. But sinceShadowy is a physical fighter, hewould have had more incentive to train and improve his powers.

Perhaps he got so good at shapeshifting he could change intoa human form?

And that is where“Laserblast” comes from. No turbo power, no two identities housed in one body,just regular-ass shapeshifting and a whole lot of lies.

KO’s eyes are typically brown (like Carol’s?), but have beenred, purple, both, or a mix when influenced by turbo power.

Maybe Shadowy hadpurple eyes and tried to change them to red to match Laser’s visor beam, butcouldn’t do it fully? Laser always hid his eyes because one was stuck atpurple. We could see this heterochromia in modern day Shadowy and that will beThe Big Reveal.

But why wouldShadowy undergo such a dramatic change for such a long period of time?

My theory is that Ven and Shadowy are from a formerlypowerful villain family. Shadowy had a mission to infiltrate P.O.I.N.T., butcouldn’t complete it because he lost his powers and permanently reverted to hisoriginal form (except possibly for his red eye). His failure disgraced thefamily. Ven often wears a hat and glasses in public and Shadowy Figure wears ahood because they don’t want to be recognized as members of the disgracedfamily.

Shadowy wants his powers back so he doesn’t have to sneakaround everywhere. Perhaps he even wants to become Laser again, to make up astory about why he was gone so long and return to his former friends. Cob knowshis family won’t take him back.

Shadowy had major shapeshifting abilities, while Carol hasnone. This gives KO minor shapeshifting abilities. Because the abilities are sominor (and possibly because he doesn’t know he has them), they only manifestwhen boosted by turbo power. We can see this in “You’re Level 100”, when KO wasusing turbo power before TKO had fully formed. His eyes, teeth, and claws areclearly different.

KO’s minor shifting powers with enough turbonic energyshould get Shadowy back to his original ability level.

“But David!” you ask. “If Shadowy’s power is onlyshapeshifting, then where does KO’s turbo power come from?”

It comes from Carol. And I know that sounds like a reach,but hear me out. Carol can mimic any combat move she sees. We see this mostoften when she copies Gar’s signature move. But it’s not your standard elbowattack- it also emits a pink energy. This suggests Carol could mimic otherenergy emitting moves.

Remember that turbo collar Ven made for Fink? It worked very well! The only reason it stopped was because it ran out of power. There weren’t any glitches or malfunctions. That means it probably isn’t the first iteration of this project. Perhaps he’s had prototypes for years and years, but hardly made useof them because he a) didn’t have a stable glorb supply, b) doesn’t dohand-to-hand combat himself, and/or c) didn’t trust anyone he might have beenworking with to use it. But he let Fink have it because she’s loyal and theynow have access to Boxman’s glorbs.

The tree under the Plaza is a source of glorbs. Presumablythere’s another one somewhere else underground, as suggested by the glorbcluster Gar sealed up in “GarQuest”. There are likely more of them scatteredacross the world. If we’ve noticedthe similarity between glorbs and the colored orbs, P.O.I.N.T. may have too.Carol’s new outfit in the “GarQuest” flashback suggests she still did somenon-secret hero work after Laser’s death, presumably until she realized she waspregnant. I think she was sent on a mission to make sure a glorb tree didn’tfall under villain control, and got in a fight when she arrived; perhapsagainst Venomous himself, perhaps against someone he used to test the collar on.If Carol fought a collar-powered villain while in a glorb-rich environment, shecould have used her ability to temporarily go turbo herself.

Which could do odd things to a fetus.

While KO has a weaker version of his father’s power, he alsohas a weaker version of his mother’s. “Copycat” becomes “Imprint”. He can copyan energy-emitting ability… but only once, and then he’s stuck with it.Normally he wouldn’t have been able to do this until after he was born, butsince he was essentially soaked inturbo power, he imprinted early.

This would explain why his standard power fist is blue- it’sthe color of a normal glorb. Only under special circumstances can he use theturbo version. It might also be why PKO’s headband and wristbands are blue.

That’s why Carol has no fucking clue what’s going on withher kid. It wasn’t a particularly memorable mission, and she was focused on hergrief. She has no reason to connect it to KO’s situation six to eleven yearslater. Maybe now that Foxtail’s done a heel face turn we can get access to someold mission files.

I’d say, “this is a bit complex for a children’s cartoon”,but Gravity Falls and Steven Universe pulled off some wild shit. It couldhappen!

This was probably way more of a reply than either of us were expecting, haha. But that’s my take on things! Y’all are welcome to bring up new evidence, alternate theories, corrections, etc.

okay this is just cute. they look like 2 dads who aren’t entirely sure how to take a selfie but are willing to try. the outfits lend this a slightly chaotic energy - i can’t commend zee’s colour combo if i’m honest, and when juxtaposed with the plaid shirt it kind of hurts my head. but it adds to the dad energy so i still love it. also this is from chara’s ig and the caption is super sweet.

DADS WITH THEIR KIDS ALWAYS GETS ME. i don’t even want kids, nor do i particularly like them, but seeing a man with his child is the cutest thing in the world and this, predictably, is no exception. patrice’s son 100% has his eyes which is really cute. speaking of patrice’s eyes, he may be smiling here but if you look into his eyes all you will see is fear - that child does not appear too bothered about remaining upright on the ice, and i suspect thay bergy is concerned about this. it would be criminal for me to not comment on the jeans. bergy has some exceptional thighs as these jeans do an excellent job of highlighting that.

this is Hot, and i’m not accepting criticism on that opinion. the crisp white shirt w no jacket or tie, and the top buttons undone???? i need a lie down. the hands are also making a nice appearance which i can always appreciate. basically what i’m saying is that i’m jealous of that snake this is an excellent photo and i owe the bruins instagram person a drink for posting it.

Sanditon, episode 4 part i

I was thinking a bit earlier this morning about Sanditon continuations ... the only other one I’ve consumed is the 1975 one by “another lady”, and while I don’t remember many details, it struck me as very much in the Georgette Heyer vein. At the time, Heyer’s characterization/plot tendencies were the predominant way of interpreting the Regency, so it was normal to have, for instance, the climax of the story be an attempted, kind of silly abduction of the heroine which she foils through being sensible and the abductor coincidentally taking her by her home. Now the predominant way of interpreting the early nineteenth century stress depictions of “realistic” dirt, the rules of society being highly flexible, and (admirably) recognizing that the world didn’t consist solely of white upper-middle-class English people - so a mainstream continuation of our time looks very different from both how Austen would have written the story and how an author of the 1970s would do it.

Also, I may have been comparing some of the earlier parts of the show with the 1975 continuation? D: I thought the original fragment ended a few chapters later than it actually does. Very bad me. I will have to go back and edit out some of the mean things I said about changes that were actually just original work. (Original work that didn’t convince me! But not weird changes. Actually, it appears that the scene where Sidney tells Charlotte off for criticizing his family is more likely a deliberate response to the continuation, quite interesting.) Sorry about that.

Anyway, on with the plot.

Arthur and Diana are headed off to Dr. Fuchs for their daily (!) appointment, looking very Regency. Charlotte, on the other hand, is wearing a more 1820s pelisse - the full sleeves, the broad collar, the lowered waistline - in a very Georgiana-ish bright pink. She picks up her post, just ahead of Georgiana’s maid in line. Georgiana has received a response from her secret lover! 

The letter Charlotte received from home looks like it’s written with the paper having been filled up, turned 90 degrees, and written on some more - an actual period practice, if you were wondering.

Ah, the jumper dress style. It goes through periods of popularity in Regency films and costuming. This is, IMO, an example that does it right - the habit shirt underneath doesn’t look like a modern top, and the gown itself just looks right. Mr. and Mrs. Parker rib her a bit about only just coming to like Sidney, and when Tom says that he’s “altogether habit-forming” on greater acquaintance, Charlotte has a consternated look on her face that spells foreshadowing.

Clara’s pelisse-ish dress looks a bit 1820s to me, but Lady Denham’s gown is sheer 1750s-1760s, with the robings and bows down the front, taking the “older lady wears older styles” meme way too far. Lady Denham is working at her job of trying to marry off the Denhams well, which bothers Clara. Lady Denham then goes on to say that Clara’s prospects are pretty bad, which is true, but ... you have it entirely in your power to do something about that? So they’re not “beyond repair”. She also has no more sympathy left for Clara’s horrible burn. :(

Clara visits the Stringer home, which she says reminds her of her own, reminding me of the ambiguity/confusion in the beginning of the series - is this politeness or really a signal that she’s not really part of the gentry? Her blue spencer is lovely, but the gown underneath has an extremely full skirt - more like something from the 1790s, at least 20 years out of date.

While much of the dwelling seems accurate to me, this huge leather armchair is very much a modernism. Upholstered armchairs, and upholstery in general, were signs of wealth. It looks like a worn-out Laz-E Boy recliner, especially with the china mug resting on the arm.

He’s so sweet! Look at his face! Charlotte takes a look at his architectural plans, which his father disapproves of since he’s just a working-class foreman. She likes them and supports his desire to improve his situation. It’s awkward, though, and she leaves. Beautiful Stringer looks longingly after her from the door.

Charlotte is taken to Georgiana, also in a lovely jumper-style dress (technically, this may have been called a “Russian gown”, but I think we don’t have enough evidence about that) in a very G bright sky blue, who has a plan for them to hang out together - a picnic! Mrs. Griffiths doesn’t approve because for some reason she considers them declassé (they weren’t), but Georgiana pretends that the Parkers will be there as well, which soothes her and worries Charlotte.

A very excellent, if dowdy, gown on Mrs. Griffiths. I feel like I’ve seen it in another production, but not sure which. Any thoughts?

Over at Denham House, Esther is also in a jumper dress! Hers is also in a signature color, dark red/purple, and it’s worn only over her corset (which honestly looks chilly).

Sir Edward’s deshabille takes the form of a silk banyan/dressing gown in a similar shade. He’s settling in to read Babington’s letter to Esther, so it makes sense to visually link them. She distracts him by asking him to lace her corset tighter, and he kisses her neck after doing so, which Clara sees when she comes by with a letter from Lady Denham. Esther realizes that Clara was there, while Sir Edward dismisses the noise as one of their own servants. (So their servants are aware of their incestry? And they haven’t spread it all over town? Okay.)

Please note the accurate spiral lacing for the corset! Esther also interests me further by seeming to have partly turned the conversation from Babington and her face away from her brother because she’s not completely, entirely, 100% certain that she’s so uninterested in the former.

Georgiana takes Charlotte to a little architectural folly deep in the woods, where she runs into the arms of a handsome man. Charlotte gets this really disgusted/upset look on her face that Charlotte you look like a racist stop stop is way out of proportion to what’s happening, given the overall tone of this show toward proper early-19th-century behavior. Even after Georgiana introduces Mr. Otis Molyneux, Charlotte is extremely concerned about him in such a way that it definitely seems like she finds black men especially threatening, even when you take into account Sidney’s asking her to watch over his ward.

They’re so cute!

Georgiana explains that Sidney is keeping them apart, which makes Charlotte pensive. Otis suggests she leave the two of them but Charlotte refuses to let them be unchaperoned, and G is pissed when she finds out that she’s been set to spy on her.

Dr. Fuchs finally gives the Parkers the bad news that they aren’t sick, telling Diana that she has hysteria and Arthur that he needs to lose some weight. Um, writers? You know that “hysteria” as a proposed condition was a meaningless and often dismissive label for various physical and mental symptoms? It’s the kind of thing one can take in a production where characters are actually of-their-time, but when you show an individual as previously being modern-minded it’s a deeply strange inclusion (as with Charlotte above). Fuchs also suggests that they ride on the beach to help, which seems like would have very little effect on Arthur’s not-actually-corpulent physique or Diana’s “hysteria”.

Charlotte gooseberries it up in a field of bluebells. She’s trying to be a hard-nosed chaperone, but it’s clear that the two love each other, and when they tell the story of how they met - Otis mistook Georgiana for a servant at a ball, which doesn’t make a lot of sense given the difference between ball dress and a maid’s outfit, but whatever - they’re so sweet that she visibly thaws. Their story is also an obvious parallel for Charlotte and Sidney: “I found him to be rude and sanctimonious.” “I found her to be spoilt and petulant”. I know C/S is going to be endgame but I don’t have to like it. Charlotte tries to defend Sidney, but they say that he doesn’t have her best interests at heart. She’s not sure who to believe.

Stringer goes to show Tom the plans he stayed up late to draw, only to be told that they won’t be needed after all. He’s devastated - proving his ability to be an architect was going to be the means of making his career. And Tom doesn’t even appear to understand that he might have put Stringer to a lot of trouble even apart from his ambitions. He also fails to follow through on the promised additional workers needed to keep the pace he demands. Tom!!

The Denhams turn up, each making a strong contrast with the Parker they’re next to in terms of color. When you think about it, these are the only two pairs of siblings on the show that are always shown as pairs. Esther’s spencer is a bit 1820s, but her hat is ... 1940s? Sir Edward is confident that Clara will be sent off very soon to leave them as their aunt’s sole heirs.

Just after we see Tom Parker going into a shop to buy an expensive necklace for his wife, Stringer goes home and burns his architectural plans. :( 

Charlotte is still trying to be an annoying chaperone, but she’s on much friendlier terms. As Otis suggests they borrow a boat and go for a little sail, he and Georgiana’s relative undress compared to Charlotte (Georgiana taking her spencer off outside isn’t too big of a deal, but Otis losing his coat and waistcoat and opening up his shirt is ... a lot of stripping for the 1810s) parallels their willingness to shed the rules. It’s not like Sidney’s going to find them as he’s in London, Georgiana points out ... but then we cut to Sidney riding into Sanditon, and talking to Mrs. Parker about how he’s going to go visit Georgiana. So it’s clear what’s going to happen.

Otis sings a lovely rendition of “The Water is Wide” and then proposes to Georgiana. Wait, what?! They’re not already engaged? Dear writers’ room, have you ever read or at least watched Sense and Sensibility? And when she refuses him, it’s because she can’t get married yet without her guardian’s consent, but she could surely accept him and just wait on getting married ... ? Anyway, he throws himself into the water as he said he would and they all laugh again.

BnHA Chapter 173: Campus Tour

Previously on BnHA: Class A hashed out everyone’s roles for the upcoming band performance/dance party. Momo wound up on keyboard, Jirou is doing vocals in addition to bass, and Kaminari and Tokoyami will be playing guitar. A staging team was also assembled, consisting of Aoyama, Sero, Kirishima, Kouda, and Shouto. And the rest of class A (as well as Aoyama again, for some reason) will be on the dance team. The next day Deku went to meet with All Might. He explained that he could only maintain 20% OFA for a short while and that it wasn’t enough to beat Overhaul and he needed some sort of long distance attack. All Might was all “then LET’S TAKE THIS OUTSIDE, SON”, and they went out to the forest and he had Deku activate 20% OFA and do a cool wind attack and fuck up some trees! And long story short, basically Deku has to learn how to utilize 20% OFA in just his hands rather than in full cowl, so that way he can whip out the wind attack whenever he wants without putting too much strain on himself. Having settled that, we then fast-forwarded one month later to the day of the cultural fest, (ETA: nope) with Mirio bringing Eri to U.A.

Today on BnHA: Mirio and Deku take Eri on a fun tour of U.A. to help her get a little more familiar with the place before the chaos and commotion of the festival. During the course of their wanderings they first come across the members of class B who are constructing the set and props for the fantasy play they’ll be doing in the festival. They then stop by to greet Hadou (who’s running for Miss Con which is basically a beauty pageant thing) and Tamaki before heading down to the support department, where they ooh and ahh at Mei’s cool giant robot. Finally they take a breather in the cafeteria and ask Eri what she thinks. She says she’s not sure, but since everyone is trying their hardest, she wants to see how it will turn out. The kids take that as a win, and Rat Principal -- who is sitting at a table nearby -- says that he’s excited too. We have a brief flashback to a meeting he had with the Commissioner General, who wanted U.A. to cancel the event. Rat Principal begged him to reconsider, saying that he felt it was necessary for the students. In the end they got the okay, on the stipulation that if the security is breached or the alarm goes off for any reason, the event will immediately be called off and evacuated. Back in the present, Deku bids Eri farewell, and one week later Mina abruptly boots him off of the dance team.

(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’ve read up through chapter 199 now, so any ETAs will reflect that.)

Ensemble Stars! Event Story - Challenge! Tanabata Festival Wishes /  Tanabata Festival

Even though this was an old event story, I wanted to read and translate this after reading the Hikoboshi and Orihime event story, since both are related to the Tanabata Festival anyway~ And this event story focused on one of my favourite units - Ra*bits~! (Even though I like Akatsuki too ^^;)

This is probably still one of event outfits of Ra*bits that I really really like >/////<

Anyway as always, the summary of the story can be found below. Translation may not be 100% accurate due to my poor Japanese skills~

Prologue

One day, “I” was called to the staff room by Sagami Sensei, and he asked “me” to relax since he’s not here to lecture “me” actually. Sagami Sensei shook his head, remarking that he doesn’t understand what current youths were thinking about nowadays, and decided to go straight to the point on why he had called “me” here, asking “me” whether “I” would like to try planning for a dreamfes from scratch. He knew that “I’m” still a newbie since “I’ve” just transferred to this school from April, but from then, “I’ve” accumulating experiences and was now considered quite a reliable producer currently. This was why Sagami Sensei felt that it would be a good chance to let “me” be in charge of a huge task. Smiling to “me”, he informed “me” that being a producer isn’t just taking care of specific units, but consists of the job of planning and operating events as well. He remarked that perhaps planning an event would have a different interesting side as compared to taking care of idols, even though it would also mean that there would be trouble different than usual ^^; But since overall it would be a great experience for “me”, he felt that “I” should give it a try.

Sagami Sensei continued onto explaining about dreamfes. In the past, all the official events from SS to A1 were not left to the teachers to plan about it, and the operation of the events would be under the student council. But Sagami Sensei felt that it was boring to have this pattern of everytime, remarking that the students and public would get sick of it. Thinking that “I” would be able to accumulate experience from this, Sagami Sensei felt that getting “me” to plan would also help the teachers and student council to lessen the load, since they were still really busy during the summer vacation. 

Suddenly, we overheard a commotion happening between Akiyomi Sensei and Mitsuru. Akiyomi had yelled at Mitsuru to stop, but Mitsuru quickly escaped from the staff room by jumping out from the window, apologising and explaining that he had just remembered he had something he had to attend to. Sagami Sensei called out to Akiyomi Sensei, which pissed him even more since he doesn’t like the nickname “Akiyan”, and ordered Sagami Sensei to chase after Mitsuru and capture him. Sagami Sensei shook his head and said that it’s impossible for him to catch up to Mitsuru at his age (Poor Sagami Sensei is already getting old =w=“) 

Akiyomi sighed since he had no choice but to give up on chasing after Mitsuru for now, and advised Sagami Sensei to clean up his desk since his paperwork was even falling off from the desk. Sagami Sensei apologised and explained that since he’s used to staying at the sickbay instead, he’s not used to tidying his desk over here, but that gets rebutted by Akiyomi Sensei, telling him that his desk at the sickbay was messy too, as his own personal items were all over the desk. He requested Sagami Sensei to be tidier and be a good role model for the student. 

Akiyomi remarked that Mitsuru was really fast when it comes to escaping from him, and knowing that he’s really athletic, Akiyomi felt that he should be making use of his talent even more since he can’t help but to be strict about students when he sees them not releasing their full potential. Sagami Sensei suggested Akiyomi Sensei to drink some tea and calm down, telling him that since they’re both not young anymore, they shouldn’t be forcing themselves too much. Akiyomi rebutted that he’s not that old enough to be worried (so poor Sagami Sensei is the only one that’s old? XD), and asked him instead about the matter that he was discussing with “me” awhile ago. 

Seeing that “I” know nothing about organising an event, Akiyomi told “me” that it’s alright to rely on the teachers and even the student council to help “me”, since it would take awhile for “me” to get used to doing this. Firstly, what “I” should do was to start planning for the dreamfes, making sure of the details and that none of the traditions of Yumenosaki Gakuen was tainted in the process. Sagami Sensei didn’t agree with this process though, saying that he didn’t want “me” to be restricted since that might make the events seems like the past events again. 

Other than requesting “me” to accept the task of planning the next event, Akiyomi would also want “me” to pass a message from him to Mitsuru if “I” met him later on, since Mitsuru would always flee from Akiyomi everytime he met him. Turned out that Akiyomi Sensei wanted to discuss with Mitsuru about his future, and thus he wished that “I” could help to bring him to him.

Sunny But Rainy / 晴れのち雨: Chapter 1

Over at the balcony, Hajime and Tomoya were putting out the laundry. As it was a rainy season, they’ve accumulated quite a large amount of sheets and clothes to be washed. He remarked that Mitsuru still ran around even when it was rainy, and ended up with dirt on his clothes, but~ using his special cleaning lotion, Hajime managed to make them all white and sparkling clean again~ 

(Random scene of Tomoya mistaking of Hajime calling him by his surname “Mashiro” when Hajime meant “sparkling clean” when using the word “Mashiro”~ He was surprised that Hajime called him this way when usually he would refer to him as “Tomoya-kun”~ Hajime understood that feeling of misunderstanding since he always thought someone was talking about them when they say the word “to start” - “Hajime-masu”~)

Tomoya told Hajime that he’s too polite, yet Mitsuru was too impolite, so he wished that Hajime could pass some manners to Mitsuru so that they would balance out. But if that happens, Tomoya wondered whether there won’t be any use for him, since he was “normal” and always someone who seems to be in the middle of a range. Tomoya remarked that he would feel hurt being said that he’s normal, and continued to help Hajime to hang up the rest of the laundry. 

Hajime really enjoyed doing laundry and washing them, remarking that the weather was fine and sunny, and he could smell the scent of dirt that was drenched by the rain together with the fragrance of the detergent~ Tomoya remarked that he looks weird smelling and enjoying himself like this, and advised him not to do that in front of others. 

As they’ve been working part-time jobs all this while that requires their body strength, Tomoya felt tired from doing those and wished that they could do some idol related work as Ra*bits soon. Hajime apologised, feeling that it was bad of him to involve Tomoya to help him out in doing the part-time job at the school. Tomoya assured Hajime not to worry since they’re all comrades and asked him where are Mitsuru and Nazuna since they’ve all agreed that all the members would help to assist Hajime on his part-time job. Hajime smiled and answered Tomoya that Mitsuru was being called by Akiyomi Sensei to the staff room, and as for Nazuna.... he was actually struggling with the sheets a distance away from them XD

The scene cuts towards Nazuna who was struggling to get the sheets off him and as he could not see anything in front of him, he cried for someone to give him a hand. Hajime laughed upon seeing how Nazuna’s head was covered by the sheets and asked Tomoya to go over and help him together. Tomoya sighed and wondered why Nazuna had wanted to hang up the sheets when he’s tiny. 

At that moment, Kaoru was on the balcony too and complained that they’re too noisy that they had disturbed him from taking an afternoon nap. Nazuna could hear and identify Kaoru’s voice, and cried out to him to help him out since he could not move at all being covered by the sheets. Kaoru went over and took off the sheets from him easily, laughing at him and asking what on earth was he doing. 

(Finally Nazuna gets to breath fresh air again~! Though he hated to be called “tiny” by Kaoru ^^;)

Tomoya was shocked when he realised that Nazuna was acquainted with Kaoru, to which Nazuna explained that they’re in the same year together, and assured him that Kaoru isn’t a bad person even if he looks abit scary XD He asked Kaoru to give them a hand to hang up the laundry since he was taller than them and could help them to hang up the sheets which was a difficult task for the Ra*bits members given their height ^^; Kaoru showed a glum expression, complaining that he was now being forced to do labour work after they had disturbed him from his nap, wondering what crime had he committed to get such a “punishment" ^^: Nazuna told Kaoru that if they’ve finished their task quickly, they would leave the balcony and that would mean the balcony would be quiet again soon, so in a way, Kaoru would be helping himself to get some sleep faster. Kaoru replied that he could actually just move somewhere else to take a nap actually, and he felt that there’s no merit in helping Nazuna since even though the members of Ra*bits look cute to him, they were all guys. That made Nazuna mad as he lectured Kaoru that he should do some actions at times that were not related to girls at all, and threatened him that he’s going to tell everyone at school that Kaoru had actually tried to flirt with him when he just enrolled at school in the past, as Kaoru had mistakened Nazuna as a girl XD

In the end, Kaoru sighed and remarked that that one time was his mistake in his entire life, adding on that Nazuna’s looks had made him confused about his gender. Suddenly, he realised that someone was at the balcony too, and suggested that Nazuna could ask that person for help instead. He was glad when he realised that it was actually “me”, and asked “me” whether “I” was here to meet him. 

“I” explained that “I” was actually here to look for Mitsuru, and had thought that he might be here seeing that Ra*bits were doing their laundry here. But Nazuna replied that he isn’t here and asked Tomoya and Hajime whether they had known Mitsuru’s whereabouts. After knowing that “I” had last met Mitsuru at the staff room, Hajime and Tomoya wondered where he could have went. Tomoya guessed that Mitsuru might have forgotten that the Ra*bits members were doing their laundry on the balcony, so there’s a high possibility that he was running around the school looking for them. Nazuna decided that he shall use the broadcasting system to call for Mitsuru, but in exchange, he wished that “I” could help Hajime and Tomoya with the rest of the laundry. 

(And since “I’ve” decided to stay, of course Kaoru decided to be helpful and give them a hand as well~ ^^; He even boasted that he’s actually good at chores and even suggested that we look like a pair of husband and wife doing laundry together... Kaoru... you really thought too much XD)

Hajime was glad that “I’m” giving them a hand, and said that they would give “me” a hand too if “I” ever need their help in the future, even though Hajime felt that he may not be that reliable~

Sunny But Rainy / 晴れのち雨: Chapter 2 - 3

Later on, Souma and Adonis were jogging and racing each other on the school grounds. When they stopped to take a break, Souma remarked that he’s of no match to Adonis’ speed, and when he was already feeling tired, Adonis was still calm and doesn’t seem tired at all. Adonis encouraged Souma that he doesn’t have to feel ashamed about losing to him since the muscles that were being trained were different for sword skills and running, and that running was Adonis’ forte. Souma apologised for bothering Adonis for accompanying him in his training, as Souma had decided to do some training himself as it had been awhile for him to train his body since there hasn’t been much lessons for Akatsuki recently due to Keito being busy at the student council. He had felt bored just jogging by himself, and decided to ask Adonis to accompany him.

Seeing that Souma seems to be quite energetic, Adonis suggested that they did some stretching exercises to prevent themselves from getting muscle aches rather than sitting down. He was amazed by Souma’s special way of running, which Souma explained that this was a way of running in the ancient past, and knowing from Shinobu, it seems to be the way how ninja had run. He said that by moving the hands and legs in the same direction, one can hold down their fatigue and move fast, even suggesting Adonis to give it a try. Adonis decided to reject him, since he felt that if he was to change his way of running suddenly, he would get muscle aches easily.

Suddenly, Kaoru appeared, which pissed Souma off as he demanded that Kaoru should not even set a foot into such a place being a weakling. (Kaoru even joked that he’s wearing shoes, and added that if he doesn’t wear shoes his feet would get dirty =w=“) Anyway, he’s here to look for Adonis instead of Souma, referring to Adonis as “Otsugare-chan” instead of “Otogari”, which is Adonis’ surname. (Kaoru really has no interest in remembering guys’ names, even if they were in the same unit as him =w=“) Kaoru had actually accompanied “me” here, explaining that he’s here as “my” bodyguard since he could not let a girl come here by herself. (I wonder why though =w=“)

(Haha, I guess Kaoru means that it would be dangerous for “me” to come here by “myself”, but Souma dissed that Kaoru was the most dangerous and demanded that he gets away from “me” XD)

Knowing that “I” was here to look for him, Adonis guessed whether that had to do with Mitsuru, since he had just heard the broadcast looking for him a moment ago. Even though Mitsuru was in the same club as him, Adonis apologised and said that he had not seen Mitsuru today as there’s no club activities for today. This was also why he was able to take out time to accompany Souma in running just now.

Even though Souma knew that "I" was looking for Mitsuru because "I" was worried about him, he felt that this shouldn't be the time for "me" to leisurely walking around looking for people, since he had heard from Keito that "I've" been entrusted the task of planning and operating the next live event. Hearing that "I'll" be planning the next live event, Adonis remarked that it was a "producer-like" job and hope that "I'll" rely on him for anything that requires strength. Kaoru also asked "me" to approach him (this big brother~?) if "I" need any assistance, telling "me" that he would teach "me" anything. (I'll be wary of what Kaoru teaches though... =w=") 

Souma commented that it would need a few days to prepare for the live event, and that it would also be troublesome to handle the paperwork, but since he had been helping Keito at the student council frequently, he understood quite well how to proceed with the paperwork and thus told "me" that he would help "me" if "I" have anything "I" do not understand about the procedure. Adonis also offered to look for Mitsuru since he had some idea about some of Mitsuru's favourite places, and assured "me" that we would definitely be able to find him.

However, it started to rain suddenly even though it was very sunny awhile ago. Saying that their body would get a cold if they continued to stay outdoors, Souma suggested everyone get indoors. Kaoru remarked that the weather was unpredictable these days and felt pity for the Ra*bits members on the balcony since they have to take them now even though they've just hung them up awhile ago. He hoped that the weather would clear up during the Tanabata Festival, but he felt that the possibility of that happening was very slim, adding on that he had hoped to have a date and look at the milky way together. Adonis doesn't know what Tanabata is and approached to ask Souma about it, to which Souma explained that it was one of the festivals to be celebrated in the year, where people would decorate the bamboo shoots by writing down their wishes on the tanzaku and hang them up on the bamboo, even though there may be even more ancient ceremonies being held elsewhere. Kaoru helped to add on that on this day, Orihime and Hikoboshi would have a date on the milky way since it was only this day every year they could meet each other. (Souma doesn't like Kaoru explained it though, saying that it sounds wrong, while Kaoru felt that Souma was a person who doesn't live in the modern times. I do agree that saying that Orihime and Hikoboshi having a date on the milky way is abit... =w=")

Sunny But Rainy / 晴れのち雨: Chapter 3 - 4

Over at the student council room, Keito was confronting Eichi, demanding what he is up to, but Eichi just smiled and said that he would be glad to listen to his lecture after he was done with this paperwork. Keito snatched the papers over from Eichi, telling him that he would do it instead, and asked him not to force himself too much as he's still sick. Eichi was glad to be scolded by Keito, since that would mean that Keito was worried about him, and assured that he's not that weak to be tired just by doing paperwork. He knew that what Keito had wanted to confront him about was about letting "me" to take over in the planning and operating of the next event, to which Keito said that the student council could still handle it even if they're busy, since this was just "as per normal" for them.

Even though "I'm" a producer, Keito felt that "I" was still a newbie, and rather than helping and supporting "me" if anything were to happen, Keito felt that it would be better if the student council took over the planning and operation of the event instead. And since "I" was Trickstar's comrades, who had defeated the student council, Keito felt that "I" was their enemy. Eichi assured him that "I" do not belong to any units and had also helped to take care of Fine and Akatsuki before, and thus considered everyone's "producer". Since "I'm" currently the only producer in the school, Eichi felt that letting "me" to grow and unleash "my" potential would be useful for all of them as idols. He was very interested to see what "I" can come up with in the future, and said that this would be his investment in "me". (How come "I" have a bad feeling when Eichi said this... O.o)

Keito was actually relieved that "I'll" be able taking over the planning and operating of dreamfes, since it would help to lessen the load of the student council. But he was also worried that this might be the start of the student council's power to be falling apart, since all the past events were all planned and operated by the student council and was also a signal of their power. Eichi told Keito that the crack of their power had already started, since it started when they've been defeated at DDD. He thought that this might probably be the time to change the role of power since now there's members of the public (probably referring to Trickstar and the others) fighting against them as the student council. Eichi concluded that he had wanted to enjoy this chaotic period of time, but not as the "emperor", but as a fellow student in Yumenosaki Gakuen.  

Eichi knew that it was an important task to plan and operate a dreamfes, and probably wasn't something "I" could do all by myself at this point in time. Therefore, the student council, teachers, and everyone who likes "me" very much would be giving in their all to help "me". Keito had felt that rather than starting with an S1 event straight away, an A1 event might be more suitable for "me" from the start, or even a B1 would be better since it would not affect "me" even if it ends up being a failure. Eichi smiled and told Keito that a B1 level would not be approved by the student council and since an A1 event would be one that would normally have newbies in it, Eichi felt that "my" value would not be known by most of the students if "I" participated in there. Therefore, the best option would be an S1 event. He smiled and remarked that it would be a huge responsibility to make this event a success, since if it fails, "my" ratings and value would fall, and Keito realised that Eichi's real motive was actually that, saying that this was actually a trap he had laid out for "me". Eichi assured him that this was not the case since he had not thought of "me" as an enemy, and in fact really "loves" "me". (Yeah... right... =w=")  He would feel troubled if "I" had fallen, but he would still push "me" to "my" limits, and thus why he had given "me" such a difficult task of organising an S1 event, telling Keito that they would watch over "me" together and see "me" absorb as much experience as possible.

(Haha at Eichi remarking he seems like an evil queen bullying the princess, but corrected that he was not a "Queen" but an "Emperor" instead.)

Eichi said that he would be looking forward to the future, since "I've" assisted Trickstar to achieve victory at DDD, Eichi knew that "I" worthy enough to be of match against them, and wanted "me" to accompany him to "play along" before he gets bored. Keito could only sighed and remarked that Eichi was indeed a dangerous person who can be destructive, and said that even though Eichi could find joy in doing that, Keito himself felt troubled having to accompany him along. Eichi continued on that since "I'm" in the second year and they're in the third year, they would be the ones who would leave the school first and get onto their dream stage faster than the rest, and thus hoped to have a chance to be surprised before that happens. Keito sensed that Eichi's words seems to reveal that he doesn't have enough fun yet and warned him not to stay back for a year at school, since it might be dangerous for him not to have enough attendance rate since he had been going in and out of the hospital. Eichi smiled and assured Keito not to worry, telling him that unlike his "friend", he won't be staying back for a year since it would be embarrassing if that happens. Keito knew that Eichi was referring to Rei and said that they're just childhood "friends" who knew each other from a long time ago, and remarked that it seems like Rei would be graduating this upcoming year just like them.  

Suddenly, Souma barged into the room, yelling that he had brought “me” here, and had also begged Keito together with “me”, hoping that Keito would teach “me” on how to plan and organise a dreamfes. Seeing that “I” now was determined to take up this role, Keito warned “me” that there would no return afterwards, and asked “me” to take a seat instead since he and Eichi had already expected that “I” would be here. (Eichi is just smiling here and remarked that Keito has always been good at taking care of people since a long time ago~ ^^)

(Additional note that Souma and “me” actually got caught in a drizzle when we were on the way here, and “I’ve” helped to dry his hair with “my” handkerchief. It’s rare to see such a heartwarming moment between “me” and Souma +W+)

After sitting down to discuss, Eichi and Keito get to know that “I’ve” wanted to use the theme “Tanabata” for the next dreamfes. Eichi smiled and remarked that it’s very suitable since Tanabata would be coming soon, while Keito said that there might be some reference on the dreamfes in the past which are “Tanabata” theme that he could search for, since rather than thinking up of everything from scratch, he felt that it’s easier and faster to reference from past materials and make amendments from there. Eichi hoped that the dreamfes would be one that’s extravagant and beautiful like the milky way, with the clouds being blown away by then and the idols shining like little stars~

Wish Upon The Star / 星に願いを: Chapter 1

A few days later, “I” was called to the dojo by Kuro, and he volunteered to help with creating the outfits for the Tanabata Festival that was organised by “me”. He had already made the outfits based on the design drafts, but felt that it would be better if “I” look at the outfits personally, even if “I’ve” gave “my” okay on his design. Kuro had made the outfits really bright since the weather might be bad on that day, and the event would be held at night, so the audience would be able to see the idols better this way. (He had also made the clothes waterproof, so there won’t be any problems even if they get wet ^^;)

As there would be multiple units performing on that event, Kuro had felt that the audience would find it hard to differentiate the units if they were all the same type of outfits, and had wanted to create two different style of outfits - based on “Hikoboshi” and “Orihime”. He smiled and remarked that the “Orihime” type of outfits would be suitable for Ra*bits, who were going for the cute style. As Kuro isn’t good at designing clothes in cute style, he was thankful that “I’ve” came to help him to design the clothes, and told “me” that everyone was looking forward to this event, including him.

Kuro told “me” that “I” could always rely on him to make more outfits, and said that rather than “me” thanking him for making them, he felt thankful for being relied on to make them instead. (Aww~ This CG of Kuro blushing while saying that is adorable ^////^) He felt inspired while making clothes, saying that ideas just keeping coming up in his brain and he can’t stop them. 

Suddenly, Kuro noticed that “I” had a dark expression and asked “me” whether “I’m” worried whether the event would be a success, or perhaps “I” was tired from running around all day preparing for the event. He patted “my” head”, comforting “me” that it would be alright and said that he knew that it would be hard but things would be easier in the future when “I” organised similar events again, and that if “I” really felt terrible emotionally, he would always be there for “me”. (Wow... such manly words from Kuro O////O)

In the meantime, “I’ve” already finished with “my” outfit design, and Kuro asked to take a look, promising “me” that he won’t laugh when he noticed that “I” felt shy about showing him “my” design. He remarked that the design was adorable and that he would definitely not be able to think up of such a design. In fact, Kuro felt that the design was too girly that he wondered whether the guys would want to wear this outfit (but he knew that his sister would definitely be glad to wear this ^^;), but decided that he shall try making an outfit based on this design first. Kuro told “me” that he would call for “me” again when he had finished making this outfit, and asked “me” to bring someone from Ra*bits to come along to try it on, since Kuro felt that they would be very suitable. 

(I like this part of the conversation where “I” could actually helped to try on the outfit, but Kuro felt that the body size and body frame of a male and female would be different. Also he felt that he was too large to fit into the outfit and knew that he’s not suitable in adorable outfits. ^^; Now I suddenly want to see Kuro in a cute outfit OWO”)

Suddenly, Kuro noticed that it was noisy outside the dojo, and wondered whether it was Tetora who had came back from his jogging. (I felt sad for Tetora when Kuro said that he knew that Tetora was clumsy, and thus asked him to stay away when Kuro is making clothes Orz) It was actually Tomoya and Mitsuru, and they’ve even ran into the dojo without greetings nor taking off their shoes, which pissed Kuro off as he thought of them being very impolite. 

(No Mitsuru, you’re not a superstar yet and Tomoya is not chasing after you because of your overflowing charisma ^^;)

Tomoya immediately apologised and blamed Mitsuru for causing both of them being reprimanded by Kuro, but Mitsuru rebutted that he had run away because Tomoya had chased after him. Tomoya noticed that “I” was here and informed “me” that Nazuna was looking for “me”, as he had wanted to discuss the sound system and what songs to be used for the Tanabata Festival. Kuro urged “me” to go ahead as he would focus on making the outfits instead. While Mitsuru was planning to run away from Tomoya, he got caught by Kuro instead, who reprimanded him once again not to run in the dojo, and also told him that if he’s a man, he shouldn’t be running away. (It’s cute that Mitsuru just lost all his strength to escape when Kuro held him down by his neck and made him unable to move ^^;) 

Tomoya sighed and told Mitsuru that everyone was actually worried for him since they’ve all noticed that Mitsuru was behaving weirdly recently. But Mitsuru just shook his head and said that this matter had nothing to do with Tomoya and asked them to let him go instead. Tomoya knew that he can’t just let the matter rest even though Mitsuru affirmed that this was his own problem since he had seen them as friends and comrades in Ra*bits together. He wished that Mitsuru would rely on them when he’s troubled, even though Tomoya knew that they might not be able to help him much other than lending him a listening ear. He suddenly felt impressed that “I” was so relied on by the others and was also tasked with such important jobs, wondering that rather than people relying on “me” because “I’m” a producer, it’s more like “I’m” being well-liked by everybody. Even though Tomoya had thought that “I” was normal just like him when he first met “me” in April, he realised that “I’ve” become an impressive person in just a few months, and wondered how am “I” different from him. He was envious of “me” and even respects “me” more than before.

But... what’s important for Tomoya now was to solve the problem that’s in front of him, which is the matter of Mitsuru’s trouble. 

Wish Upon The Star / 星に願いを: Chapter 2

In the evening, Kuro helped to carry Mitsuru on the piggyback while walking back with us, which Mitsuru was glad about, saying that he could see far away being so high up. Tomoya apologised and thanked Kuro for helping to grab hold of Mitsuru and even carrying him to their destination, to which Kuro replied that it was nothing, and he was coming along since he was being called by Keito to help out with some tasks that require his strength. As Kuro had been sitting and sewing the entire day, he felt that this was a good chance for him to exercise and to change his mood a little.

(Yes Mitsuru, even though Kuro looks scary, he’s actually a very kind-hearted person~ Mitsuru noticed that Kuro was careful not to walk in a wobbly pace so that Mitsuru would not shake and fall.)

Kuro sighed and told Mitsuru that he’s really behaving just like a child even though he’s already a high school student, even though he felt that it was a good thing to be cuddled to by him. Tomoya smiled and remarked that it seems like they’re a family, with Kuro being the father and “me” being the mother. Kuro felt that he was old being called as a father, and also thought that this would be troubling for “me”, since he felt that “I” would hate to be called as husband and wife with him. Kuro felt weird that the Ra*bits were not afraid of him since Kuro was part of Akatsuki, which had defeated them terribly in the dreamfes in the past, and had even thought that it was normal if they’re mad at him because of that.

Tomoya remembered such an incident had did happened before even though he had forgotten about it till now. At that time, the audience had all returned after watching Akatsuki’s performance (please refer to the main story), and no one had even cared about Ra*bits even though they’ve given their all in dancing and singing. Hajime had cried terribly at that time, and Tomoya had felt regret, but because of that incident, Ra*bits had vowed to work even harder to fulfill their dreams, and thus even Tomoya felt that they should thank Kuro, he doesn’t want to (since it’s true that Akatsuki was mean to them back then), and asked Kuro not to mind anymore. Mitsuru joined in too and said that rather than they should not be stalling in their position and should move forward instead, and warned Kuro that Ra*bits had been growing well ever since then. Kuro smiled and said that it would be good if they could have a challenge against each other in the future.

Keito was confused when he saw Kuro carrying Mitsuru on his back when we’ve arrived at the event venue that was still in the middle of constructing. Kuro bided goodbye to us, informing us that he had been called over to help Keito in the stage construction. Tomoya asked Mitsuru to get off from Kuro and to stop escaping from us since even Tomoya found it troublesome to have to capture Mitsuru again. Mitsuru felt disappointed not getting anymore piggyback and requested “me” to carry him instead, jumping off from Kuro’s back which ended up giving Tomoya a shock. Tomoya said that “I” won’t be able to give Mitsuru a piggyback since “I’m” a girl after all, and lectured Mitsuru not to fly onto “me” as that might hurt “my” neck. Even though “I” assured Tomoya that “I’ll” be alright, Tomoya worried that “I’m” pushing “myself” trying to carry Mitsuru, and offered to carry Mitsuru on his back instead, saying that he’s a guy after all and is stronger than “me”. (Tomoya may be trying to show off his manliness here yet Mitsuru is just cheering him on while telling him not to shake too much XD)

As we were about to “me”, Keito called “me” and requested “me” to check up on the stage since “I’m” here and they’ve completed the stage earlier than expected. (Though from the background it doesn’t look completed though =w=“) Mitsuru complimented that it looks cool since it has a sci-fi look to it, while Keito was worried about the weather, even though “I’ve” already designed half of the stage to have a shelter in case it did rain on the event day itself. He also planned for the audience seats to have tents over them, but their first priority now was to finish the stage and make sure it’s alright, since it would be dangerous if the idols slipped and fall because of the rain making the floor slippery. 

Kuro noticed that Keito was helping to paint the stage, and knowing that he’s quite artistic as he could draw very well as well, Kuro suggested him to take up sewing, so that he can make clothes together with him. But Keito simply shook his head and replied that he has no interest to join Kuro together in his hobby. Initially Keito had planned to get a 3rd party organizer to set up the stage, but “I” wanted the students to set up the stage by themselves, so Keito really welcome the additional help from Kuro, and was glad that they get to lower their expenses in preparing for the event. Kuro smiled when he realised that “I” had felt that one should build up their own stage, and said that this really allows one to feel immerse in participating in a dreamfes, adding on that this would a great experience for him to build everything up from scratch. (Kind of cute that Keito added on that it’s not like it’s not fun to draw penguins XD He sounds like a tsundere here XD) 

Even Kuro noticed that Keito seems livelier than ever preparing for the event, though he worried whether it’s alright that Akatsuki did not practise in dancing and singing. Keito replied that there’s no need or in his case, they did not have the additional time and effort to be practising, as there’s alot of matters he had to attend to in preparing for the event even though he had thought that his job would get easier when he left the task of planning and organising the event to “me”. (So... did I just make Keito’s work even harder =w=“)

Suddenly, Souma who had been helping from earlier on appeared and asked Keito what he should do now that he had finished cutting the wood. Keito answered that Kuro and Souma could both try to build the stage up with the wood, while Kuro suggested them to decide what they should perform at the event now that all the members of Akatsuki were here. Keito remembered that actually, they had no decide whether they would be performing at the Tanabata Festival, to which Kuro said firmly that of course, they would perform since they’ve busy preparing the stage and outfits for this event. Souma agreed with Kuro, saying that because this event was organised by “me”, alot of units have gathered and would be performing at the event, including Trickstar, UNDEAD and even Knights who usually don’t meddle in such additional matters. Since so many powerful units had become active at this time, Souma felt that it would be too late if they do not perform and make their stand on stage. 

Knowing that the rest of the members’ desire to perform, Keito felt that it would be good if they joined in at the event too, just to prove to the others that the school council’s unit was still very powerful. Souma started to get excited, saying that Tanabata really suits Akatsuki since it’s related to ancient arts and legends. He suggested to research about the customs and performance about Tanabata, since his home has a library dedicated to such materials. Kuro smiled and said that he would be looking forward to it, and hoped that the weather would be fine on that day, even wanting to write a tanzaku wishing for that.

Wish Upon The Star / 星に願いを: Chapter 3 - 4

In the meantime, Nazuna and Hajime were practising in the practice room, with Nazuna teaching Hajime how to dance but the dance steps were too difficult for Hajime as he tripped and fell onto the floor. He apologised for being clumsy, but Nazuna encouraged him, telling Hajime that he was dancing way better as compared to the past, and said that Hajime was really bad at the dancing when they’ve met each other initially. Hajime apologised for causing such trouble as he’s bad at dancing even though he’s good at singing, but he hoped that with practices, he could become someone who could do anything he wants to easily. Nazuna smiled and told Hajime that he would support him since he knew that Hajime was someone who would work hard. (Aww~ Look at the Ra*bits love here ^////^)

Hajime told Nazuna that he really respects him very much since Nazuna was good at both singing and dancing, and was really like a rabbit. He mimicked the actions of a rabbit, which Nazuna remarked that it was cute and even wanted to use the action in their interactions with the audience. Even though Ra*bits had already finished their new song to be used in the Tanabata Festival, they also prepared other performances and songs to be performed at the event.

Hajime remarked that he had focused on doing part-time jobs at the school too much to the point that he had almost forgot the fact that he was an idol too, and since it’s been a long time they're performing live, Hajime was really excited and wanted to do a good job at it. However, he doesn’t understand why they had to prepare different type of performances, as he felt that it would be bad if they had to remember alot of things and they might end up forgetting some of them when performing. Hajime had thought that the Tanabata Festival this time was like a tournament just like the DDD, and wondered whether they would end up retiring early from the stage just like that time. Nazuna remarked that actually they were lucky to remain until the latter stage during DDD, and told Hajime that they should have more confidence in themselves and should aim for a victory instead rather than thinking about whether they would lose. Hajime apologised and confessed that he too wished that they could perform a bit longer on stage. 

Nazuna assured Hajime that this Tanabata Festival was organised by “me” and would be different than the usual dreamfes. Even though there would only be one stage, there can be two units performing on stage at the same time, and they would have a live battle with each other. The winner gets to stay on stage and continues to perform, while the losing unit will have to get off the stage. So as long as they win, they would be able to continue to perform. However, the losing unit still gets to get onto the stage again after a period of time. “I” had felt that it would be too cruel if the losing unit doesn’t get to perform anymore after they had lost, so this was a dreamfes that was really “kind and gentle” to the idols thought by “me”. 

Nazuna had felt that actually this type of dreamfes was also considered cruel to the winners, since they had to keep performing as long as they keep winning. They would lose their strength the longer they performed, and the audience would get sick of their performance if they keep singing and dancing the same song, therefore this was why Nazuna had wanted Ra*bits to practise and perform a variety of performance for the event.

As Ra*bits was just created recently, they didn’t have many songs to perform, and thus, in order to grab the attention of the audience, they would need to try to perform different types of performances. Nazuna smiled and told Hajime that since “I’ve” been working very hard to organise the Tanabata Festival to make it a success, they as idols should give in their all for the event too as repayment for “me”. He wondered where Mitsuru had been since Tomoya had gone to look for him and they were late for the practice, sighing and thinking whether Mitsuru had forgotten that they had practice lessons over at the dance room. 

Even Hajime started to worry for Mitsuru, since Mitsuru had been running away recently and hasn’t been participating in practices much... (That indeed sounds bad and worrying D:) He felt that Mitsuru was someone who was very talented and not weak like them, and wondered whether Mitsuru had disliked being their comrades in this small and weak unit. Nazuna frowned and told Hajime that he should not say that since they’re not weak and they would be improving and going higher. As much as Mitsuru seems like someone who doesn’t think much, Nazuna knew that he had been thinking about something recently, and thus wanted Tomoya to catch him and bring him here, so that everyone could come clean with each other, adding on that they’re comrades who’s connected by heart.

  While they were waiting for the remaining two members, Nazuna asked Hajime to take a break and practice fanservice like signing and shaking hands instead, since it would be better to continue their practice in singing and dancing when everyone is here. Hajime was surprised that they had to practise fanservice, even though he had noticed that they had been gaining fans gradually recently. Nazuna informed Hajime that there seems to be a special rule for this Tanabata Festival, where the audience could write down their wishes on the Tanzaku, and unlike usual dreamfes which the number of glowsticks would determined the points of each unit, the number of Tanzaku would be calculated instead. The audience will still continue to wave their glowsticks during the performance of the unit they like together with the Tanzaku, and the idols would help to fulfill the wishes written on the Tanzaku. Even though the idols won’t be able to fulfill all of the wishes on the Tanzaku, especially those that had wishes that are not doable by them, the winning unit of the live battle will get a chance to select one of the lucky audience to fulfill their wish on the Tanzaku, which can be simple fanservice acts like shaking hands, calling their names, or giving them a signature. This was why Nazuna had wanted them to practice fanservice. 

Hajime thought that this was a great idea and remarked that “I” really understand the audience’s point of view very well since just a few months ago, “I” was a normal person just like them too. He smiled as he thought that the audience would be glad to have their wishes granted by the idols, and he wanted to grant lots of wishes of on that day. But in order to do that, they would have to win the live battle, and to win, they would have to perform a great performance. 

Finally, Tomoya was back, and he had brought Mitsuru together with him. Mitsuru was sad about being unable to escape anymore, with both Tomoya and “me” grabbing him by his arm on his left and right. Nazuna told Mitsuru that they had noticed that he seems to be feeling ennui recently, and wanted him to talk to them about his feelings since everyone was worried about him. He felt that Mitsuru doesn’t suits being all moody and sad, and wanted him to smile brightly again. Mitsuru finally decided to reveal his troubles, and explained that he didn’t want to trouble anyone in Ra*bits about it initially since he had felt that his troubles had nothing to do with them, and he didn’t want to pull them back when the unit was just starting to do so well to becoming a great unit.

Tomoya told Mitsuru that he shouldn’t be so polite and reserved when he’s just a mere “Mitsuru” (hahaha XD) when usually he was always going about on his own pace and doesn’t reflect about causing troubles to others (Tomoya... you’re just taking this chance to diss Mitsuru right? =w=“) Mitsuru rebutted that this was the first time he had felt this way and admitted that he felt lost and didn’t know what he should do. Nazuna patted Mitsuru on the head and told Tomoya not to blame Mitsuru too much and towards Mitsuru, Nazuna felt that he’s being too reserved from them, since they’re all together in this and were still the “egg” of the idols now, so all the more they should stick together and support one another to breed themselves into great idols. Even though Nazuna doesn’t have any idea about what Mitsuru was troubling about, he assured him that everything would be alright, and that “Big Brother” (Ni-chan~) would protect him from anything. (I’m so touched, Ni-chan~ T////T)

Mitsuru was touched and started crying out loud, apologising to everyone. He confessed that he had thought wrong, and wanted to be with Ra*bits since everyone was warm and kind to him, and he really likes everyone~ (Aww~ T////T) Everyone was shocked and wondered what’s going on, with Hajime guessing that Mitsuru might be transferring elsewhere from his words and getting worried on what they should do. Realising that “I” seems to know what was going on with Mitsuru, Nazuna requested “me” to explain since Mitsuru was someone who was bad at explaining. 

This was then the guys get to know that because Mitsuru had gotten a great time record at the recent track and field tournament and he was being advised by a professional that he should focus on being a professional at running rather than being an idol instead since he hasn’t been performing well as one. But being an Olympic runner isn’t Mitsuru’s dream, even though he was glad to be praised and getting a record for his running. He confessed that he still wants to be an idol and wanted to perform and do idol activities together with everyone in Ra*bits. He knew that no matter how fast he could run, he’s unable to catch up to a car, but if he became an idol and sing, his singing could be spread around the world in just an instant in the speed of light. This was why he had wanted to become an idol and enrolled into Yumenosaki Gakuen, even though he personally enjoys running too.

Mitsuru was confused on what he should do since he’s bad at thinking. He was feeling depressed because of this matter and had wanted to shake away this feeling by running around. (After knowing about Mitsuru’s feelings, I just want to hug and pat him, aww~ It’s been hard on you Mitsuru~)

Tomoya realised that this was quite a troubling matter faced by someone who was not “normal” since Mitsuru was someone who was very talented. He knew that this matter concerns Mitsuru’s life and he shouldn’t be saying anything about it, but Tomoya can’t help but express envy to Mitsuru’s trouble, since he’s given different paths he could choose in life, and Tomoya knew that Mitsuru would definitely do well in whichever path he chose in the end. 

However, Mitsuru was still glum and told Tomoya that he would be glad if Tomoya could replace him in this position. Even though he felt Tomoya was being kind of mean in his words, Mitsuru knew that he was right since this was Mitsuru’s life and only he could the only one to choose which path he would want to walk on in his life. He had thought that he could only run in his life, but now that he sees that he still have the Ra*bits members by his side so he could still choose to stay with them. Nazuna sighed and told Mitsuru that this matter isn’t something that he would get a decision easily even if he was anxious about it, so it’s best if he thought through it slowly, since they’re all still in their first year now after all, and they could afford the moratorium in their decisions. If Mitsuru was still unclear in which path he should choose later on in his life, Nazuna wished that he would rely on them, and told “me” too that “I” could rely on them too and “I’m” not alone.

Nazuna wished that Mitsuru would not run away from them again like he’s abandoning them and everything, and Hajime added on that even if they might walk on different paths in the future, they’re still together now. He remarked that Hikoboshi and Orihime were still in love even if they could see each other once a year and said that Ra*bits have the same bond as them too.

Epilogue

Finally, it was the day of the Tanabata Festival, and Wataru was welcoming the audience on his balloon flying above the event venue. Keito noticed that and wondered what Wataru was doing, since he was talking a loud voice and thought that Wataru’s presence had made the scenery weird when the sky was a beautiful with fine weather and a milky way. He felt that Wataru was a disgrace to the school and even wanted someone to bring him his bow and arrow so that he could shoot Wataru down XD

(Yes, I guess that balloon is definitely Wataru’s personal belonging~)

Souma informed Keito that Wataru was scattering a large amount of Tanzaku from his balloon, and thought that rather than flying over the venue for no purposes, Wataru was helping to give out the Tanzaku required for the event. However, Keito felt that there was still no need for the balloon to be flying in the sky since they could easily give out the Tanzaku by hand instead, and wondered why Eichi had wanted Wataru by his side since just looking at Wataru was enough to give Keito a headache. (Keito is really bad at dealing with Wataru, these two just don’t get along that well together huh ^^;)

Kuro was worried about Keito if he’s already getting a headache now, as they have a long night ahead of them as if they kept winning at the Tanabata Festival, they would have to keep performing. Keito was confident as he said that they won’t be giving up their spot on stage to others and would defeat any challengers that comes their way with their performance, showing them how is it like being a “real” idol and how a “real” live should look like. 

Nazuna overheard him and remarked that he’s being too overconfident and reminded him that Akatsuki aren’t the only ones who were idols in this school and thought it would be interesting to see alot of units participating in this event. “I” had planned this event in a way that everyone would get excited about it and hoped that the performance stages would make the audience smile. Keito was surprised that Ra*bits would be the one who would challenge against them, while Nazuna told Keito that they won’t be letting them win that easily since they’re different from how they were before and were improving everyday, adding on that they would be returning the shame that they had felt in their last live battle back to Akatsuki. However, Keito smirked instead and rebutted that he doesn’t even remember that Akatsuki had battled against Ra*bits in the past, though he would be looking forward to Nazuna’s performance. (I can feel the heat between these two OWO”)

Tomoya and Hajime were watching their interaction from afar and realised that Keito actually has viewed Nazuna quite highly, to which Hajime added that Nazuna was someone who made it to his third year when most of the students had lost their dreams in this school at that period of time. He guessed that compared to them, Nazuna had probably used all of time to accumulate lots of experience in order to achieve the praises and skills he had now, and felt that it was an honour to be found by Nazuna and raised well by him, as he’s dedicating his time to take care of them. Therefore, Hajime felt that they need to work hard in order not to pull Nazuna behind with them, so as to pay their gratitude to him.

As they were the first to go on stage, Hajime started to get nervous since the audience would be putting all of their attention on them. He wondered if everything would be alright even though they’ve practiced alot, and added that his body was trembling with nervousness. Tomoya told Hajime to get a hold of him since they’re already on stage and the audience could see them clearly. What they could only do now was to do their best.

Wataru had heard Tomoya on stage and agreed with what he had said, praising that he had grown well and that he would continue to look over him lovingly. However, Tomoya told Wataru that he’s noisy and a hentai mask, and even requested him not to talk to him since he didn’t want anyone to know that Wataru was his acquaintances. (Ouch D:)

Mitsuru urged them to stop talking and start with the performance since the audience might get bored with waiting, and Mitsuru himself can’t wait to get started. Even though he knew that Akatsuki was a unit more powerful than them and was higher than them in terms of position, Mitsuru would continue to challenge against them even after a hundred rounds, even if they may not be able to win against them initially. 

Kuro remarked that the Ra*bits members were really energetic and that was a good thing for them. He had not expected that he would be challenging them again so soon, though he definitely won’t go easy on them this time either. 

Keito had felt that “I” had did a good job in organising the event this time, and would rely on “me” again for future events. But first, he would repay his gratitude to “me” by performing well at the Tanabata Festival. The story ended with Souma telling his comrades in Akatsuki to dance together with his rivals - Ra*bits~

And that’s it for this story~! As a Ra*bits fans I really enjoyed it since everyone had a bit of their limelight in the story, though I wished Tomoya had a bit more parts in it since he’s a 5* card after all in this event. (But I know the main character was Mitsuru after all~)

Akatsuki’s role in this story was lesser than Ra*bits, but it’s quite interesting to see their interactions with Ra*bits since I hardly read stories that had two units interact with each other~

Now for the event results~ Hitting 2M points is really my limit in revival events now ><”

I managed to get everyone’s card except Souma. Getting cards from ranking rewards is really difficult ><” But overall, I’m glad to get every one of Ra*bits’ cards~! +W+ How I wish Ensemble Stars have events like this where we can get more than 4 4*/5* cards again~ XDD

Nazuna’s and Hajime’s bloomed cards are so adorable~! Too bad those didn’t have full CGs in the event stories T////T
