henry viii. hands down. shut up about the man. stop making films and books about him. we have enough. we even have a musical about his wives. let's face it, the man's only famous because he was an asshole to his wives. (and also for the church of england stuff, but he remained a catholic all his life, and during his reign the church of england was pretty catholic too, he just wanted to nick stuff from the monks. so yeag, wasn't as big a deal as ppl think. britain's monarchy only became officially protestant in the reign of queen anne).

also, unpopular opinion, but elizabeth i. like, i know a lot of people love her, but please understand that she was an expert spin doctor. a lot of the cool stuff we think she did (the tilbury speech...) was propaganda. she relied heavily on her advisors too. i know most monarchs did that and it would be stupid to NOT listen to your advisors (come on, william cecil knows his shit) but it still annoys me to hear ppl giving her ALL the credit. i know she was an incredibly competent female ruler in a very sexist time, but i feel like ppl oversimplify her character to 'Badass Feminist Who Has Done Nothing Wrong Ever' which is just. wrong. also she could be a dick when she wanted to.

so basically: the tudors are fucking overrated and i will stand by this forever, most overrated historical figures have had their life stories simplified beyond all recognition, and chief joseph (who is not overrated) deserves more love and he is an amazing person that i recommend researching

The fact that Emilia Perez got 13 Oscar nominations while Beetlejuice 2 didn't get any is kinda insulting. Like I would have thought that at the very LEAST Danny Elfman's score would have gotten nominated. Or at least the costumes and visual effects! This is a movie using PRACTICAL effects in a very creative and visually gorgeous way in the age of CGI. The creativity alone that went into this film deserves all the recognition. Like, the score might not have won when they have a whole highly popular and wildly successful musical to compete with this year, but the visual effects! That deserved at least a nomination. Like, don't come at me.

 I dont really think mark would care either way, but i don't see him dating someone with too much of an age difference in either respect. Renjun doesn’t give two flying shits if his partner is older or younger than him lol. As long as they match his personality in the right ways then its meant to be; someone who is young in the ways he is, but also mature in the ways he is.

 I think both Jaemin and Jeno would be inclined to date someone younger, but Jeno would be more open minded to dating someone older. This may be an unpopular opinion, but... I think Levi is rather bad at cooking. Lmao.

Okay, okay. Before you burn me at the stake, let me explain myself.

Cooking is a skill, much like cleaning. Some people excel at it, some are decent, and some simply aren't great. For some, cooking is a passion and even a career. For me, cooking is embodied by my grandmother. She taught me everything I know. Although she may not have been the most emotionally available person (like many women who survived the war), her way of showing affection was through her cooking. To me, nobody cooks like my grandma. Nobody.

Now, my way of showing affection is also through cooking and acts of service because it's something I associate with love.

Levi grew up alone in the underground. I imagine he often ate food in questionable condition and probably never had anyone to teach him how to cook. Can you picture Kenny teaching him how to make pasta? Neither can I. And Kuchel, his mother, passed away when he was very young.

Moreover, back in the day, many homes didn't have stoves. Working people often ate their warm meals at pubs and survived on cheese and bread. This is something you can see in "Les Miserables," for example.

Given this background, I feel Levi never had the chance to learn what good food is, nor did he have anyone to teach him how to cook properly. Sure, he can probably prepare simple meals to survive, but they likely don't taste amazing.

If you're someone who enjoys cooking (like me) and you two are starting to live together, dividing tasks, and it’s his turn to make dinner for the first time, you'll eat it, of course. But it might taste so bland that it’s like the meme, "Mmm, I just love the taste of nothing."

Then, you can kindly suggest that since he enjoys doing the dishes, perhaps you could handle the cooking while he takes care of the cleanup. 🤣

Another unpopular opinion: Korn does not want to sleep with Fasai

Korn is a lot of things, but a cheater he is not.

In a fit of 'Jez analyses things because she sees things differently' here's my take on the KornFasai situation.

It's starts with Korn arriving at this place, entering the room where the director (his uncle? I think?) is waiting for him with Fasai sitting there too, sipping from her wine, wiggling her toes, all in what i feel is like expectance.

First of all, what is she even doing there? Who is she? Why is she important?

Korn, as shown above, is hella nervous. His whole demeanour is off, tapping his fingers, waiting, waiting, waiting. And then his uncle tells him off immediately, saying 'first day on the job and you've already tanked the shares'

The shot changes to show Fasai, and lemme tell you smth, I can recognize a bitch when I see one. (sorry not sorry, she just screams main character syndrome to me) She doesn't do anything but swirl her wine a little, sizing Korn up. She's putting him on the spot, is what's she's doing. Keeping him there, locked in her gaze. Korn cannot hide.

The conversation goes on to discuss what Korn can do to fix shit, and Fasai only takes her eyes off of Korn for just a second when the uncle says 'i know what to do about the issue'

but then after, her gaze is right back on Korn, intimidating, nailing him to the chair he's sitting on. Now lemme tell you, it could ofc be something they're into. Fasai being in control and Korn being her puppet, but I don't think that's the case.

"You have a lot to learn, Korn."

The whole conversation is clearly a means to get under Korn's skin. Sure, they make it seem like they want to help him, but body language tells me they're attempting to knead him into submission.

"You've got a lot to learn, Korn."

And then Uncle looks straight over to Fasai with the dirtiest smirk known to mankind. That, to me, speaks VOLUMES.

And the way Fasai is still looking at Korn makes me think that she never took her eyes off of him. Swirling her wine, sizing him up. She's ready. She's waiting for the right moment to strike.

And Korn, poor baby Korn, is so uncomfortable. Eyes twitching, not knowing where to look, taking a sip from his wine because he just doesn't know what to do. With this new position, he's been thrown into a pit full of starving lions.

Drinking the wine as liquid courage. In later eps we see Korn absolutely abusing alcohol to forget what happened. Why would he do so if he enjoys sleeping with Fasai?

The scene then changes to Korn and Fasai alone, she has two wine glasses, one for her one for Korn. Saying that 'Korn doesn't need to worry anymore.' She's looking down at him. You can play this off of 'yes, but Korn is seated and she's still standing' and you'd be correct!

But this series is at this point, (we're already at ep4 im just slow in making posts lmao sorry) at this point we know how 4minutes uses camera angles to tell a story. Fasai is looking down at him.

"Fah, do you know how your father took care of that shareholder?"

She knows, even if she says she doesn't. That smile says it all.

"If there's any other problems, you can call me."

Aka I'll take care of it for you, because Fasai has power. Korn's face is so uncomfortable right now. This scene shows they've known each other for very long, but that doesn't mean he likes her.

More symbolism. She's towering over him. She's the boss.

Must I say it again? Power. Authority. Expectance.

Walking over and sitting down onto the bed wordlessly, demanding Korn to understand.

When she reveals her naked legs, Korn looks over and knows what time it is.

He then turns away with this look on his face that I can only describe as 'I don't want to.' but knowing he has no choice.

More liquid courage.

Korn strips bare naked all in front of the watchful gaze of Fasai.

Vulnerable. That's what he is right now. Completely at Fasai's mercy. (tho, goddamn Bas, your ass please.)

Korn's face when Fasai touches him. The camera position here is important too. It's just above him, pointed and tilted down, so that we too, are looking down at him.

And can we just quickly jump back to his face when he was with Ton Kla? Because the difference is HUGE.

That's a smile on his face right there after Ton Kla patted his crotch.

The differences, y'all. I'm telling you.

Woman, a beautiful man is about to go down on you, please pay him some respect and look at him.

But also! Camera angles! We're looking up to her. Again, she's the boss.

During the whole 10 seconds that we are to assume Korn is going down on her, she camera is only trained on her. From below. We're looking up at her.

This, to me, is more of a business transaction than a 'hey we like each other, we hook up' kind of thing.

Is it cheating? I mean, Korn does sleep with her (i assume) and I would consider going down on someone absolutely cheating, but I don't think he wants to.

He has to, whether he wants it or not. This is his life.

the one huge criticism of malevolent that i have is tied to the reason the show is so impressive and that's the fact that harlan does all the voices.. because he does all the voices, the female characters that aren't elderly or monstrous can only be alluded to

but there are still female characters that hold significant importance that can only be mentioned of in passing , and one of them is, of course, nurse Lilly who was the first person to show john human compassion while arthur was in a coma

john consistently references how Lilly's kindness was so transformative for him that it was the start of how he genuinely changes his perspective and identity once arthur awakens,, BUT WE DONT GET TO SEE HER OR HEAR HER and it's a little annoying for john to constantly mention this time period and this nurse as something So Important, but everything happened off screen in season one

and like ?! idk !! from an audience (read: my) perspective he has been through more important and difficult things with Arthur and other characters... to keep coming back to Lilly, whom we never saw as like THEEEEE moment he learned humanity is starting to really drive me a little crazy

i GET that narratively john needs something other than arthur as exposure to the kindness of humans. as a character he needs more motivation than just one very flawed person that he cannot be separated from. but to hear john say he loves lilly in today's episode was so jarring to me !!

and maybe i'm at a disadvantage here. maybe because i started like a few weeks ago and i haven't been here from the jump, im missing some greater context for her character and what she represents in the overall story that can only come from knowing a story front-to-back for a couple years but fuck

Unpopular opinion, but I don't want Mike to tell Will he loves him in the Upside-Down when they're being tortured by Vecna, or when they're being chased, or while they're in danger. It should be a moment of calm and understanding.

I'm being redundant again, but

Oblivious or not, Mike is... neurotic, insecure, and reluctantly very sensitive. He ignores it or pretends he isn't sensitive partially because of Will. Will has been ostracized most of his life likely starting after Lonnie left, but Will has a family that allows him to be open and sensitive and vulnerable. His brother understands him most of the time, and his mother will not hesitate to chase their enemies down with an ax. Mike doesn't have this at home. He may come from a wealthy, well-connected, possibly military, ideal, picturesque-dream of a family, but it's all pretentious, pompous, insincere bullsh😔. It's shiny, cold, and plastic. His parents are too preoccupied in loveless marriage with keeping up appearances to be emotionally available for their kids, Nancy started out as selfish and shallow, only becoming involved when the situation mattered to her, and his mother despite saying they can talk to her makes no real effort to understand her growing, changing children. They just want a lovely girl and a brave boy, and they have that, but when their kids step outside of these weighty expectations, they're seen as wrong. Mike can't be seen as queer or sensitive the same way Will can—it would jeopardize his image and his family's image, and it'll be all his fault. So, he's done fighting for their attention. Sometimes, it's easier to pretend to be in agreement than it is to be right.

Is this part of why he can't say "I love you" to Eleven? Yes, absolutely. Is it the only reason? Of course not.

Apart from being a disappointment to his parents, Mike's also the paladin. He's the one who ultimately deduced how to get to Will, who refused to believe he was dead (except once), who took in Eleven and was patient enough with her to understand how to get to Will, and who insisted first that they should be looking for him. He was "the only one who cared about Will" enough to be proactive in finding him and rally the party to do the same. He needs to keep a level head at all times and feels the most control when he's running campaigns or fighting monsters or comforting his friends. However... no one does this for him. If it were Mike who'd gone missing, they'd have a much harder time finding him just in coming up with a plan of where or how to look. No one else would be sleeping next to Mike's bed when he was having nightmares or offering to go "crazy together" with him. That's Mike, and no one else. And again, if anything were to happen to the party, especially Will, it's entirely his fault (in his mind).

And then, there's Eleven. He loves Eleven. He does, very much, but not in the way that she wants him to. He was extraordinarily kind to her in ST1 and very grateful for her presence. And he found her to be very cool and weird and worth saving and getting to know. This, of course, didn't happen, and their romantic relationship remained superficial all through ST3 because they made no effort to truly get to know each other, except for their utility. Mike found Eleven was of use to him to find Will, and El found Mike was of use to her to live a life outside of a lab. It's mutually beneficial, but they obviously care about each other and want each other to be happy. However, the relationship is unsatisfactory to all parties: they lie and gaslight and manipulate each other constantly and love the heroic image they have of each other. It's not exactly true love, like in El's soap operas (lmao), but it is an immature understanding of first love. Again, Mike can't tell El that he's not satisfied in their relationship because although he does love her, he isn’t in love with her. (Sorry, I wrote this at 3AM, because—) Despite ultimately playing the same role, he finds himself feeling increasingly like a "nobody" and finally admits im ST4 that he got lucky she's in his life. While he can't (or won't) put his finger on why he isn't happy, the relationship does provide something—"proof" Michael Wheeler can get it right... right? Because if he can't even get this right, what is it he is doing wrong, as usual? Why can't he just say "I love you"?

All this to say, Mike cannot stop. He knows he'll never be enough, and if he were to mess up or be wrong, he'll be a failure, a disappointment, a "queer." Everyone will know he's a mistake, or he's weak. If he lies to Eleven and she finds out he's unsatisfied, then their whole relationship is a lie.

And then there's Will! Now, remember what I said about how neurotic Mike is? Will can get Mike to stop rambling in five words or less. The second Mike is alone with Will, Mike knows he can take off the armor and just be his sensitive self, the same way Will knows Mike will keep his secrets when he opens up, too. He has a tone of voice just for Will. He has secrets that he tells only Will, and vice versa. He might not be able to be sensitive at home, doubtful in his strategy, or honest in his relationship, but he does all this just with Will. It's been this way since they were five years old, and it hasn't been perfect, but when Mike insisted they needed to grow up and past whatever was between them in ST3, Will was brave enough to just straight up say no, f😠k you—or rather "Yeah. I guess I did [think we'd sit around your basement and play games for the rest of our lives]." And what did Mike do again? Oh, yeah—"Will! Look, I'm sorry, man, alright? I was being a total asshole! Please! Just come outside and we'll talk! Will!"—he pedalled his ass right over to Will's house in the rain to apologize.

I'm getting angry, sorry. Anyway,

Will always reassures or grounds Mike whenever he's down or scared or stressed. And this mesmerizes Mike... Will is everything he wants to be and everything he wants. He wants to be seen and understood and cared for the way Will does for him. He wants the love Will already has for him. He wants to be needed and wanted the way Will needs and wants him. It takes his breath away each and every time Will touches his heart either by affirming his love in words or with gifts like his drawings or the painting. Will is good at this because he was always allowed to be, and this bravery is what's always drawn Mike in. He doesn't get this from anyone else, and it means more to him than he realizes. It's why he was going crazy in ST3-4: the kind of "love" he's used to—only being loved for being perfect and useful—leaves him empty and hollow.

Mike is scared of loving Will. It's something he fears and desires more than anything. When he finally acts on this, it shouldn't be a choked-out confession because he's (for the fourth time) scared of losing him. I think it should be something he's finally brave enough to admit because Will gives him the space to know he's always loved him and he'll still love him when he finally does. I'm not saying there should be fireworks and a proposal, but something Mike's known all along that gives him peace and safety, subconsciously or relentlessly, that he can finally verbalize. After living a life where everything has been a relentless battle, Mike telling Will "I love you" should be the easiest thing he's ever done.

I gravitate towards the more fun (thus CoAi; BO is a fun plot and it's the centre plot of theirs) or even toxic (like Kogoro and Eri, but omg Kogoro is a POS who doesn't deserve her).

I don't know if my opinion is unpopular but I prefer Conan to Shinichi, even if they are the same person, so I haven't the idea of ShinShi. In an AU, if ShinShi somehow met (without the APTX 4869), how and what would it be like in your opinion?

ShinRan just seems so childish to me now compared to back when I was a kid🤣. Same, I don't really care for that trope, but especially in Detective Conan because it's so damn overused😭. I think the only couple that isn't childhood friends to lovers is Takagi and Sato. Oddly enough, the only canon couple that I actually like with that trope is HeijixKazuha (who are FINALLY canon after all these years.) Idk why but they've just always felt like the better version of ShinRan to me.

On the one hand I want Kogoro and Eri to get back together, but on the other hand I think that she deserves so much better than him, even though it's plainly obvious that they still love each other.

It.... Might be an unpopular opinion? But I definitely understand that feeling, lol. Conan and Shinichi honestly feel like they're two different people when they aren't, and it's because Shinichi has changed a lot during his time as Conan. Also because of the fact that whenever he's thinking to himself, he still sounds like Conan, whereas in the English dub (which is what introduced me to this series) he sounds like his teenage self. Which makes it easier to remember that Conan and Shinichi are the same person.

Without APTX 4869? They wouldn't get along AT ALL at first🤣. Shinichi would still be an arrogant dumbass who thinks he knows everything and is the greatest thing to ever happen, and Shiho would not want to entertain nor tolerate his bs. So she would find him extremely annoying. With Shinichi I feel like he would find her interesting since she's the only girl (other than Sonoko, but she hardly counts) who doesn't seem interested in him at all and doesn't act like one of his fangirls. So basically, he'd see her as a mystery he needs to solve.

I never thought that the Stark bloodline could continue through Arya, and that this is one of the reasons why she has the classic look of them. I feel so fucking silly cuz she looks like Lyanna who is associated with the winter rose/stark maiden (Jon is also represented by the winter/blue rose, since he is Lyanna's son so could also be the one who continues the lineage) and they all bloomed in the winter, just like Arya will do too in future About the next generation, well, it's not really a big deal, just some funny speculation. And yeah, the Baratheon genes really are dominant. I checked multiple cases and the male line is usually stronger. Rhaenys is one of the rare cases, actually the only case, but she comes from a Valyrian bloodline as well. Her grandmother was a Velaryon. And her father, a Targaryen. In other words, it takes generations to be ~diluted~. The seed is really strong with the baratheons lmao It seems there are some rules. When Targaryen men marry other women, their first child often looks like their mother. Lyanna had lived long enough to give birth to a second child, the boy or girl would look like Rhaegar. And considering that all the dark haired targs never get to the throne like Baelor and others. I think it's a pattern for each house to have a specific appearance, and that seems to be extra important in some way in terms of succession and who will continue the line. Since these appearances magically prevail for decades or hundreds of years

i've to admit that when i was reading the books the first time around, i didn't notice it either; my first exposure to that idea was due to a stansa's post, i don't remember how it went at all, so take this with a big grain of salt, but what i got after reading the whole thing was something like: "so you're making the case that people saying something about the conservation of the stark's looks and how is important in arya and jon's plots equates to them being racist to ginger people (?)"

the part you wrote about how winter roses bloom in the winter and arya will do the same in the future was so nicely put; those were some bars!!

the thing with arya is that she's the sociable one of the starks, (unpopular opinion coming up: but i honestly think that family had one extrovert, who is arya, one ambivert, who is bran and the rest of them are mostly introverts; well rickon is still a mystery to me so i'm going to ignore his existence just like the books do) arya is the one that seeks connection with other people to make her own pack, and don't get me started about how she is the motherly one of the two stark daughters; she cares greatly about other people and she has a lot of fertility symbolism all around, dany is the one with the most motherly imagery but arya comes in a close second place.

i do think that grrm's original plan was to have arya and jon together restore the stark line, with the added plus that these future starks will also have the recognizable stark look to them. which, if you think about it, really sounds like catelyn stark's worst nightmare coming to realization, with the child she hated, her husband's bastard, becoming the heir and married to her least favourite child...

(okay, time to cover up my bases... catelyn loves arya, i do believe that, she loved all of her children, and i believe she's a great character, but as a mother, catelyn really did the poorest job in showing arya that she loved her unconditionally... and maybe i'm not as forgiving as other people with her because catelyn stark reminds me so much of my parental figures and i did have a lot of the same problems that arya had with her mother with them... also i've a bone to pick with catelyn because she seemed to be "weird" i really don't know how else to put it, about the fact that jon looked like ned but her children did not, and that makes me go... excuse me, arya is right there!!)

coming back into future gendrya speculation, i want to say that the shipper in me obviously wants to point out that we've never seen a stark and someone with baratheon genes union before, so even with the beforehand knowledge that "the seed is indeed strong" maybe the stark genes are stronger... but yeah, i admit that sounds as if i've gone overboard with the copium and really dumb as fuck, because it seems like a plothole waiting to happen.

also it's really interesting the part that you wrote about how dark-haired targaryens never get the throne and how that's going to play out in the future, but... i've to admit as well that with jon dying and then coming back to life, because let's be honest, that boy was never going to stay dead for long, i can't see jon being the one who continues the stark line; i can't see death bringing life again, no matter how poetic it sounds, but maybe that's just a skill issue on my part.

so if the stark look has to be preserved and continue down onto future generations, i think that arya is the obvious option, for me at least.

what is funny is that before i got the last ask about this, i was thinking really hard about what's going to be the thing that breaks up gendrya if they happen in the books, because i see them as a first love kind of deal that's not meant to last, and of course the most popular conclusion is that gendry probably will die, because he's a minor character against arya, who is one of the key five, but i don't want that, because i love my boy as well, and i want to see him live better times.

• Nimona doesn't have a specific label because she thinks they are sorta restrictive. Also she just doesn't need one lol, if somebody asked her about her gender she'd say "Nimona"

Nie Huaisang :))

First impression: "Oh my god somebody with short hair, that's wild. Is he like the baby of the group or something?"

Impression now: Grrrr. It's. It's complicated, okay? Because on one hand I admire the commitment to the bit, right, and I do love me a good mastermind, and what he pulled off was admirable. But also he's a fucking snake and I can't stand how he faced ZERO CONSEQUENCE for his shit I'm sorry I can't help it. And yet I still love him anywhere other than canon because he's fun and funny and he's really pretty and Sangyao is easily like top 5 MDZS ships for me right now so WHO knows. But his position in fandom frustrates me and I think part of why is because I haven't really seen a whole lot of people acknowledge him as sinister and sneaky, but keep in mind I don't actively engage in fandom either or seek out character takes so it might be out there more than I think

Favorite moment: When he runs towards Jin Guangyao in the manhua while making kissy lips lmao despite all I've said above I really do just want them to run off into the woods together (conversely, when he keeps the hat. That makes me go insane. FERAL)

Idea for a story: I'm so boring at this point but him visiting a brothel For Inspiration for his art and ending up seeing someone with a somewhat androgynous, very fine, beautiful face, and asking him if he'd perhaps consider modeling for him for a hefty sum and the person being rather shy and averting his gaze and it's Meng Yao. Of course it's Meng Yao I tricked you into walking into my Sangyao Palace

Unpopular opinion: I think his whole grand plan was, though unquestionably, only really partially about Nie Mingjue being killed. I think it was also for himself. For his personal betrayal. I need to see him sitting at the antagonist table more often or I am going to lose it. (Don't come for me, he might not be a villain because he's on the 'good guy's' side and he brought down the 'bad guys', but his methods are antagonistic! He keeps putting people in danger and even gets some of them killed LOL)

Favorite relationship: With Jin Guangyao! Surprise! Their dynamic makes me crazy. When I think about how much Nie Huaisang must have loved Jin Guangyao and looked so forward to his visits, even going so far as to see him as the only one truly in his corner, it makes that betrayal and all that comes after feel so much more poignant. This is why I feel Nie Huaisang is a lot darker than he's really given credit for; he had to ruin Jin Guangyao so thoroughly that only ashes remained to his name. The other characters seeking revenge in this story, even against loved ones, never thought to take it that far. Don't fuck with this dude, not ever. But back to the actual relationship, I feel Jin Guangyao truly cared for him, too, which is why he never suspected of him and stayed beside him to help all those years (he also probably felt guilty). That must have brought out a lot of incredibly complicated feelings in Nie Huaisang, making his hatred grow tenfold while still somehow feeding whatever love he once had for him. Ough. For daring to make him feel that way, he really had to be blown to smithereens

Favorite headcanon: I like thinking that he no longer really knows how to feel things due to spending so much time faking. I imagine he's a very numb person inside, or at least one who struggles with genuine emotion

Last night I woke up at like 3 am and checked my notifs because I couldn't fall back asleep and the smerdyyyyy was the very first thing I read and it cracked me up.

First impression:

I didn't think much of him at first because he doesn't really get the chance to shine in the first half of the book, I didn't dislike him though.

Impression now:

I'm not a Pavel Smerdyakov apologist because the word apologist implies he did something wrong he needs to apologize for. The old man needed to go and I never said I had good morals.

Favorite moment:

When he gave Dmitri the wrong time for the family reunion in Book One, making him arrive like one hour later lmao. He's so petty I love him.

Idea for a story:

I've always wondered how he learned to play the guitar, so a story about that.

Unpopular opinion:

I refuse to believe he was considered unattractive, I just can't trust the narrator on this (which is himself a character in the story and has shown bias towards other characters before). Okay, maybe he didn't win the genetic lottery or whatever, but he took care of himself, was well dressed and intelligent and also had musical talent; it's not all about looks and those don't seem like unattractive qualities to me. I don't think him being antisocial really matters in this context either. Is this even an unpopular opinion? I don't know.

Favorite relationship:

His fucked up dynamic with Ivan hands down, I love mind games and insane people driving other insane people ever more insane. Also I love that they mirror each other and that Ivan is basically what Pavel could have been under different, better, circumstances. There's a lot left unsaid between them, feelings of anger and betrayal and even grief that could have been explored leading to a better outcome if only Ivan had been a different person with a different background. Their relationship was a time bomb and it could have never been anything other than a time bomb and that's exactly what I love about it.

I'm almost done with my acotar reread. I'm on acofas and I have thoughts. Yes, these are most likely unpopular and, most importantly, my opinions.

1. I don't like Rhys or Feyre. I know I've been back and forth on Rhys on liking him and not. I understand why now. I appreciate him from a morally grey standpoint and the healing journey Feyre goes through. Their love story is good not great just good. Beyond on that I couldn't careless.

2. Acotar is her weakest series. I know it's romance based. far more than tog or cc. Perhaps that's the issue. I'm not sure. But her writing, in general, is stronger in tog and cc

3. I've been rereading all sjm books in anticipation of hofas with my friend Rachel(@nighteyed) Throughout our long discussions, I'm taking Azriel out of the doghouse I put him in. No, that doesn't mean I agree with his bonus scene it still rubs me the wrong way and will call out his faults like I do every character. But he's alright.

4. Tamlin is 100% a red flag. But the male is depressed af and the ic should just leave him alone. What happened UTM broke him too. And changed him. Locking up Feyre, going to Hybern, and acting like a dickhead at the highlords meeting were fucked up. Him reacting over Feyre's letter in acomaf was not. When she left she couldn't read or write.

5. Eris made mistakes in the past but deep down I think he's a better male than alot of the fae. And also. Make Azris canon Sarah. Do that and I'll forgive so lorcan did.

7. Cassian is the superior bat boy. I said what I said.

8. It's so sad seeing how Nesta was improving in acowar. How she began changing, helping. That bite and coldness she started off with was going away and then she watched her father die. Her mate almost die, and killed Hybern. It broke her and you can see the shift in her immediately after the battle.

9. What did Elain and Lucien talk about before he left Velaris?? Speaking of them. What happened between acowar and acofas. I need answers Sarah.

10. Because I feel like I need to round this out lmao. I think the whole line Elain says to Cassian about it wouldn't take much to kill him isn't foreshadowing. He almost died three times in the series. Once in acomaf, twice in acowar. She was merely stating that he throws himself into battles to protect others without a thought to himself, and if he's not careful, it could end him. It's also possible she just saw a vision at the battle of hybern.

Phew, okay, here we go! Three characters to answer for, I love you for asking this, haha.

Johnnie

How I feel about this character: My precious baby boy, I adore him. Reckless perfect terrible child. Pat him on the head, he brings so much joy.

Ship romantically: None in canon. Johnnie/his ego, Johnnie/hedonism, Johnnie/so many girls he doesn't remember the names of and maybe a few he does but not in a serious way. He's a ladies boy, or certainly thinks of himself that way, and none of it is romance but it is very definitely lust and pleasure.

Also thanks to some very long-running eternally-ongoing shenanigans I ship him with Chrissy Cunningham from Stranger Things. @spectromagic knows.

Non-romantic OTP: Man it's not an OTP it's just these three brothers and their dynamic. I love them all even if it's mostly headcanon (BEN!!! PLEASE GIVE US MORE). I think they've all leaned on each other a lot over the years and Johnnie looks up to Dale and Alex so much. I can only imagine how absolutely devastated they are by his death (BEN!! GIVE) and that tragedy feeds me.

Unpopular opinion: I don't care at all for the Buck/Johnnie ship. Doesn't work for me. Buck is very clearly obsessed with Lee to the point of absolute ruin. I think the cigarette scene was mostly meant as a way to show that Buck can interact with the ghosts and also that he's super freaked out by this (at first) but then later just like, accepting of it. Does not read as shippy to me.

One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: Oh I desperately hope we run into him again, causing trouble out there in ghost form, because clearly we know he's still around. Also I absolutely MUST know more about his whole backstory and also whatever he saw in his visions and also whatever he experienced while black-brained because I live and die for cosmic horror and you know that's some really horrific shit.

Dale

How I feel about him: Without dumping paragraphs of headcanon here, good lord I adore Dale. We know he's brilliantly creative when it comes to music, and must have quite the force of personality also to be a co-leader of the gang. There's so much there to draw from, and then we also know (or it's implied, I guess) that a lot of the music that survives to the modern era via Lord Huron covers was massively inspired by Johnnie's death, maybe as a way to cope. I feel for him so much. Poor Dale.

Ship romantically: Look we have nothing to go off of, but if I had to name names I'd just go with the lovely Ms. Penny Clicks there at his side in the Fool for Love MV. In my head they had a thing once and are now buddies that absolutely lean on each other a lot, where he trusts her to get shit done that needs to get done. Big fan of the lady gang members as a whole.

Part of me also wants to ship him with Rigo but that isn't fair because it's purely invented and Rigo is like, dead or vanished anyway and so the only purpose that serves is to dump more trauma on his head.

How I feel about this character: The absolute pillar of these three, my third best boy, Alex I adore you so much. When there is no dad you must become the dad. Strength both physically and mentally. His crew has so much respect for him, Johnnie adores him, you know that he's always doing his absolute best to make sure everyone has what they need and are causing the most havoc in the right ways at all times. Champion. In my head he's almost religiously dedicated to the World Ender and has taken this leadership role very seriously. He's like a paladin but of a violent street gang that's part cult to some unearthly being. So good. So good.

Ship romantically: I accidentally started shipping him with Moonbeam in like a nonromantic but FWB way and I'm obsessed with this dynamic now. He doesn't trust many people but he does trust her, and she's more than earned it.

Unpopular opinion: Buddy who else even has opinions about Alex, we barely have anything on him, I'm glad that my head is a lively place full of extrapolation and daydreams.

Peter Mendoza is such a sweetheart and a talented actor and he didn't even get a line??? Wasted opportunity. Bring him back. Let's see the violence he will unleash on Z'Oiseau following Johnnie's death. The man is an absolute force of nature leading LA's most feared gang. I need to see this desperately.
