oh great , here rose goes again talking about la belle et la bête .

i think about this quote a lot and it’s just been brought back up so i might finally talk about it more. obviously i cherry pick in diff renditions because many tellings have different accounts but we are cherry picking specifically from jean cocteau here:

the beast: beauty, you mustn't look into my eyes. you needn't fear. you will never see me, except each evening at 7:00, when you will dine, and i will come to the great hall. and never look into my eyes.

beast within jean cocteau’s world is someone who never forces himself upon beauty. he acknowledges how monstrous he looks. how he feels that no human woman could ever love him. with beauty living within his abode , he sees her and is captivated by her. he gives her gifts and wealth of time to herself. when she develops feelings for him , he thinks she is odd. different. strange. this is why i like to separate the original telling from disney when writing here. beast was quite tame in how he approached beauty in this as he did not want to scare her; yes she was his prisoner but he had fallen irrevocably in love with her from the start. he knows that if he was to be made prisoner in a household with a monstrous being , he would not go so easily. i think his gentle heart shows more thoroughly in this scene. and it is quite early on !!! yes he still has a temper .. yes he puts threats out there but it's different in how it's approached.

the beast: i have a good heart, but i am a monster. beauty: there are men far more monstrous than you, though they conceal it well.

beauty is still very headstrong in this. she is true to herself. honest when she feels trapped. honest when she loves someone. i think this is one of the best quotes featured because it IS what the story is about. beauty knows how she might sound but she doesn't care by the end of the story .. which ultimately carries over in most renditions. it's not her fault she has fallen in love with someone like the beast after all. he is more genuine because his heart has been shattered countless times. he has been dealt a heavy blow to his heart. there is a broken man deep within a beast.

going off of beauty's headstrong nature too , she is not afraid to admit that the individual who took her hostage is also the one who is the most gentle here:

beauty's father: beauty, i saw him. that face is hideous. beauty: at first i was indeed afraid, father. now, i sometimes feel like bursting out laughing. but, then i look into his eyes and they're so sad, that i have to turn away from crying.

beast and his sad eyes tend to carry over in many renditions. they say that the eyes are the window of our soul after all. i like to think that every beauty / belle in every story is found to feel something for a man with sad eyes like beast possesses.

beauty: what are you doing at my door at this hour? god, you're covered with blood! the beast: forgive me. beauty: what should i forgive you for? the beast: for being a beast. forgive me.

beast apologizes pretty profusely to her for being the way he is. he wishes he could change it for her and live happily as a human FOR HER .. because he assumes that is what she would want. because there is no one as beautiful and as genuine as she is and she deserves everything.

also , one of my favorite quotes below :

beauty: can such miracles really happen? the beast: you and i are living proof.

not me COMPLETELY wrecked by how genuine this quote is. how two star crossed lovers can find each other in the most unexpected of ways. how fate has led them to each other's side. how they deserve happily ever after :(((

I just found out when exactly Nandor gets Guillermo's sweater!!

So in season 3 ep 3 there's the scene when Nandor comes into Guillermo's room for the ring for Gail and he takes Guillermo's sweater, saying he's "borrowing this towel" and Guillermo says "that's my favourite sweater". Did he keep it. For so long.
