The writers did play softball with Piltover, huh?
Is it because they wanted to make the transition of Vi being an Enforcer (apparently) more smooth?
Because they wanted a villain to make the story flow better?
Because it's a lore dump for a game that probably fleshes it out better?
Or the game was already set up like this and they were constrained to that?
It's been bothering me since I first watched Arcane. The treatment of Silco, Piltover and Undercity/Zaun. It's a bit confusing to me with the way I understand it.
Piltover and characters from there barely acknowledge their horrible side even though I know it must be there because you don't get a schism between the Undercity and Piltover with jack shit happening inbetween. I'm pretty sure Piltover exploited the Undercity for resources without care of their wellbeing. The Councilors, well most of the Councilors are portrayed as being feeble minded, up their ass and stupid. They are treated as ineffective. Then there's Mel, the true brains! Except... We're not supposed to see her as actively malicious (and I don't wanna see her as that because Implications on several levels). She knows about the state of Undercity enough to know there can be a messy war but has seemingly done nothing to deescalate this type of situation in the first place?? Don't think about that because she has a character exploration about Choosing peace and it's really all she ever wanted.
Learning about Heimerdinger punched me in the face because this Fluff Ball let the state of the Undercity happen??? He founded Piltover and is all about safety and not letting things be misused but The Wretched Poverty of the Undercity happened under his supervision?? BUT we're not supposed to view him as hurting and making a population destitute. It was accidental?? I don't know. It's like the writers are having Piltover characters just dodge accountability.
The Piltover characters are framed as Misguided, sympathetic, not really all their fault.
Meanwhile.
Silco gets this red carpet treatment. He's in a chiffon dress with a dangerous deep V neck and a risky slit up to the hip. Villianous ass and tiddies on display. He even gets the classic evil capitalist tropes (Even though I'm pretty sure this should be applied to Piltover too with what Silco brings up). It's amazing. Even though the main drive he has is the oppression from Piltover. They don't ever validate Silco on this because he's such an eviiiill man, and wanting to fight is bad. Don't you see, Piltover didn't mean to do it. That's why Vander is capital G, Good. He wants peace no matter how precarious and still very much fucked over everyone still is. This isn't a dig at Vander, I like his character. Just how the story uses him. Even the Enforcers get a sympathetic lens through Marcus because of his relation to Silco.
I have more thoughts but they're scattered. I didn't even get to how Caitlyn seemingly functions to soften Piltover even more with her Not All Topsiders framing she got going on. The amount of frustration I have with her in The Council scene with Vi when she shows pity of all things. Comes off more to me like "Poor little baby Undercity people can't help themselves, they're sick so we need to take care of them" instead of actual solidarity. Is this intentional? Or is it just at face value?
I'm holding out if some of this would be pointed out in Season 2. Maybe Ekko will be my lifesaver in this situation.

💖 TOP 5 FAV TFP EPISODES:
Darkness Rising Part 1:
Tumblr media
*Probably the only episode where Starscream is treated with respect and dignity, which ironically goes away after Megatron regains leadership by the next episode! (After the ‘Darkness Rising’ arc, Starscream seems to be taken less and less seriously over the course of the show...)
Tumblr media
*I like Jack’s terrified reaction to the Transformers, it’s more realistic compared to Raf and Miko would usually roll with what’s happening like it’s no big deal. It’s always kinda frustrates me that Jack was the only kid that actually cared that they almost died later on. I actually like that trait Jack had, trying to the only sane man of the team but then they mostly got rid of that trait after ‘Darkness Rising’!
Tumblr media
*It’s super ironic that Miko aka the kid that wishes to go on the Autobot adventures the most, is the kid introduced last and missed out on the show’s first battle that Jack and Raf saw! (Well, second battle if you count Cliffjumper losing to the vehicons...)
Scrapheap:
Tumblr media
*The scraplets are one of the many things that basically become wasted potential in TFP Season 1, but they’re still horribly awesome.
Tumblr media
*I love that Raf wanted to keep the scraplet as a pet at first until it attacked Bubmlebee then Raf did not hesitate to destroy it and apologized to Bee for what happened, even though what happened wasn’t Raf’s fault.
Tumblr media
*Half of the fandom talk about how badass Miko can be sometimes that they’re usually forgetting that Raf and Jack are badasses as well in their own right; all three kids managed to take down half of the scraplet swarm all by themselves. Meanwhile, I like how Optimus and Arcee comforted each other and were about to accept death with dignity. We all know they were going to live, but it’s still both heartbreaking and heartwarming.
Predatory:
Tumblr media
*This is the episode where I like Jack the most, cause it feels like he actually has a personality other then liking motorcycles and girls. Also, his partnership with Arcee has greatly improved and feels more interesting compared to ‘Speed Metal’. I also like how Jack becomes rivals with Airachnid like Arcee did.
Tumblr media
*This is one of the two episodes (the other being ‘Crisscross’) where I actually like Airachnid’s character (before she became female Starscream) and I like the war flashbacks Arcee has throughout the episode, even though the writers could’ve given her a more creative past with Arcee instead of repeating the losing partner tragedy with Tailgate. Maybe replace it with Airachnid killing Arcee’s sister?
Tumblr media
*Like I said, some people are so focused on Miko that they forget Jack can be a total badass too sometimes. In fact in this episode, I think Jack was more badass then Miko cause unlike Miko who relies on cybertronian technology to take down her enemies, Jack uses what little supplies he already has on himself (multi-function pocket knife and magnesium fire-starter) to destroy Airachnid’s ship. Now that was pretty smart of him.
Shadowzone:
Tumblr media
*Even though Starscream never had a proper chance to use the power of dark energon, he still looked pretty awesome when he tried.
Tumblr media
*It’s pretty creepy how Terrorcon Skyquake’s severed hand is way faster then him.
Tumblr media
*Jack was almost as awesome as he was in ‘Predatory’. Jack actually felt like the leader of the kids that TFP was trying to make him into. Also, even though I felt pretty annoyed with how bratty Miko was in this episode and how she’s the reason they got trapped in the Shadowzone in the first place, she did risk her life to get Raf his glasses back and it was great that she did take responsibility for her actions after they were free from the Shadowzone. (If only she didn’t repeat her mistakes in the future episodes...)
Stronger, Faster:
Tumblr media
*Ratchet only wishes to help his team and this episode shows how much he cares behind the grumpiness.
Tumblr media
*Even though Ratchet becomes a jerk after taking the synthetic energon, he does raise some great points about how Optimus would rather risk the lives of his fellow Autobots, then end it by destroying his former brother Megatron once and for all.
Tumblr media
* Ratchet truly shined in this episode, even though he lost the battle against Megatron, cause I still believe Ratchet was right in wanting to destroy Megatron. (And it shouldn’t have taken Raf almost dying later for Optimus to realize this...)
💔 TOP 5 LEAST FAVORITE EPISODES:
Tumblr media
TFP Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising:
*They should’ve ended at ‘Deadlock’...
Partners:
Tumblr media
*If only Starscream kept his mouth shut and the Autobots weren’t such hypocritical jerks...
Rock Bottom/T.M.I.:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They’re tied because they’re basically both the same story; Miko’s recklessness almost getting Bulkhead killed and she’s sad about it and takes responsibility, but she never properly learns her lesson and it’s by pure luck that Bulkhead is still alive...
Metal Attraction:
Tumblr media
*I feel sorry for Jack in this story, he keeps getting pushed aside by June and Arcee. He helped save his Mom last episode and yet June treats him like he’s a little kid and is a bit condescending towards him near the end. (At least Jack stands up for himself near the end of season 1.) I know June means well and she’s only trying to protect her son, but I can understand Arcee’s frustration. Speaking of Arcee although I get her being salty about June, I dislike how she flip-flops; she lets June keep Jack in the base, but after she learns Miko sneaked out, Arcee allows Miko to stay with her and Bulkhead... (At least Arcee makes Miko return to the base when things got more serious...)
Speed Metal:
Tumblr media
*I’m sorry, but almost everything about this love triangle drama Jack is a part of is stupid. I also dislike how strict Arcee was in this episode, but at least she gets better by the end of it. The only thing I truly liked about this episode was the Decepticons...

Rewatched "Inquisition" and
The return of Miles' special "dislocated shoulder" outfit
Kukalaka!!!!!!!!!
Julian saying "please" to his replicator. Sir, I'm in love with you
I cannot express my rage about the way genetically engineered people are treated in the Federation. Yes it's a horrible practice and is essentially the same thing as eugenics, but what Julian and the Jack Pack's parents did to them is not their fault! They shouldn't be locked away in a mysterious "Institute" or be barred from professions or immediately considered suspicious just bc they had shitty, ableist parents! They had no control over the situation!
There is a fanvid on youtube of the ds9 crew set to Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" and the shot of Julian being lead down the promenade in handcuffs is used during one of the "I think we broke the law" lines and I'm so glad that video exists to give me something to laugh at in this incredibly depressing episode
Sisko really is just everybody's dad, huh?
It's so sad. He's just so done. He knows there's no way Sloan will be logical and he's going to end up imprisoned for something that wasn't his fault (but that he still feels immense guilt about!) and that people will believe it's bc he was "working with" the people who kept him in a prison camp and killed so many of his friends
I wish I was a better writer so I could write something about Julian actually addressing his trauma from being held in a prison camp, immediately having his biggest secret that he's terrified of and causes so much self loathing suddenly forced into the open, and then having both of those major traumas used against him to potentially imprison him
Personally, considering the way the Federation fucking treats genetically engineered people, I don't at all blame Julian for not telling Sisko! I mean, yes, I trust that Benjamin would have made the right decision and helped protect Julian bc he's a good person. But A, there's no way Julian could know that for sure and it's absurd to expect that he would risk confinement just to not be lying to Benjamin, and B, it would be asking Benjamin to commit crimes for him! He already hates himself enough, there's no way he'd force someone he cares about to be in a precarious situation just to help him out!
I know it's not real, but Jadzia and Miles (both of his besties) turning him away is so sad
Sidenote: Terry's voice when she says "How could you do it, Julian?" is hilarious. She sounds so dramatic
It's such fucking bullshit that Julian (and apparently Sarina?????) join Section 31 in the novels. He's clearly disgusted by their existence
As am I. I hate Section 31 so much
I know the whole theme of ds9 is to dismantle the idea of the Federation as a utopia, but to me at least, the way most of the show reads is that it's trying to say "We are better, but that doesn't mean we're perfect, and we can't just tell ourselves we're perfect and call it a day. We have to constantly examine ourselves and take count of the ways we can still be better, otherwise we'll never improve." But the existence of Section 31 says "We actually never got better in the first place, we just got more secretive; utopia actually isn't possible, there will always be a seedy underbelly," which is only reinforced by the fact that the only reason the Federation wins the Dominon War is bc of biological warfare spearheaded by Section 31 and it's so fucking sad. The thing that is good about Star Trek is that it's hopeful that a better future is possible, and Section 31 just shits all over that
I love ds9. It's my favorite Trek, but I will never forgive it for making Section 31 part of canon and I'm so fucking upset we're getting a whole ass show about this horrific concept. There's no way in hell I'll be watching it

Freedom: a 15x03 Coda
Ok so, disclaimer... I love Dean but im very angry with him right now. Cas deserves better. If Dean realizes this and treats Cas how he deserves I might forgive him (aka the writers) but until then I don’t write happy destiel.
So just an FYI this is not a happy ending. Also excuse the tense shifts I’m horrible at using past perfect where it’s not appropriate but I can’t edit anymore!
__________________________
The heavy bunker door closing behind Cas echoed through the empty space. It reverberated through Dean’s mind and disturbed all the dangerous thoughts waiting for the excuse to escape.
It wasn’t like he treated Cas like shit! He treated him how he always did, like family dammit. But that son of a bitch had still walked. He’d abandoned them.
Dean tore through the books and artifacts on the closest shelf, throwing them to the floor as hard as he could. He waited for the embarrassment to sweep in like it did when he took a breath and saw what he’d done, but it didn’t come. Seeing the destruction only made him angrier and he grabbed a poker from the fireplace and smashed through a lamp on the table. Then he destroyed the shelf that he’d knocked the stuff from but the anger only turned to rage. That’s when he saw the angel statue sitting on the partition wall between the library and the entry hall. It was a woman in long robes but her black wings reminded him of Cas’s stretched out and burnt into the sand. He hefted the poker and beat the statue until he was sweating and shivering over a pile of dust.
He grabbed the bottle of whiskey a pulled from it for too long. The burn of alcohol twisted his insides.
No. Cas had abandoned them, his own family. After he’d gotten Mary and Jack and then Rowena killed. It was his fault they were dead. Wasn’t it? The guilt forced his thoughts back faster than he could wash them down with the bitter spirits. He knew something was off with Jack; a nagging at the back of his mind. Dean even said something to Sam about it a few days before Jack disappeared with their mom. Cas shared his worries but hadn’t said anything, why hadn’t he said anything?
You didn’t say anything either, his traitorous mind whispered to him through the fast-approaching whiskey blur. Then he remembered the look on Cas’s face when he said Cas was the problem, the reason for all of it going wrong, and his words finally bloomed ugly in his gut. The whiskey threatened to come back up but he swallowed hard and steadied himself on the table. He managed to keep his stomach in check but the tears came fast and hot.
______
The air outside the bunker was cool and it cleared Cas’s mind for the first time in days. He breathed in deep and was astonished that the emotional rising to the surface was relief.
There was sorrow below that and desperation too, but they were staying under the veil of numbness; it allowed him to recognize that he felt lighter outside of the walls, formally detached from the Winchester’s. When he thought of Sam he hesitated, he would miss him and would worry about him too, but Dean would take care of him. Sam was the only one Dean took care of.
Cas thought Dean was finally letting himself love and be loved by Cas. They’d started spending nights together, and Dean would sometimes talk to him, and sometimes make love to him. The first time had been years ago and Cas never felt such an attachment to anything before, they grew close and kept getting closer.
Then something happened.
Even looking back he didn’t know just what it was. Had it been subtle? Or was it a moment that snapped what they’d built like a twig? Cas supposed it didn’t matter, the end result was the same. For the past year or more Dean had become so distant it drove Cas to compulsion, trying to hold on to what they had. He told Dean he loved him one night in desperation.
The next night Dean came to him drunk and hungry, they ripped each other’s clothes off and pushed each other against the walls, growling their desires without inhibitions. It satisfied Cas until he woke up the next morning and Dean was gone, the first time he’d ever snuck out of his room. After that Dean came to him almost every night whenever they were in the bunker and he was almost always drunk. After a while Cas started to feel sick when Dean touched him while drunk, it was such a contrast to when Dean touched him with purpose and reverence. The rush he got at first in response to Dean’s hunger, it had come with the hope that Dean was letting him in. But soon Dean would come too drunk to make love to him and he’d ask Cas to fuck him instead. When Cas refused, sick off the smell of whiskey, Dean would leave angry and wouldn’t speak to him the next day.
When he told Dean that he loved him It was the truth, but as soon as he said it he knew it was all wrong. The way he said it. When he said it. Wrong, just like Dean had said. No matter how hard he tried he couldn’t get it right. At least this way, on his own, he’d only disappoint himself and no one else.
Against his better judgment Cas closed his eyes and concentrated on Dean, reaching through the space between them and listened intently. He didn’t hear anything. He only felt white hot anger and then deep, seeping guilt.
Cas shook his head and cut the connection, he should get rid of his grace, what use was it if his powers were failing anyway? He started walking down the road, taking out his angel blade while he looked up at the stars. Before he could think twice he found the grace’s pulse at the base of his throat and cut it out. The bright blue miasma slid from him and floated in the air a moment, waiting to be contained by something or stored away in another living thing. When Cas kept moving and left it behind him he felt it start to dissipate, scattered to the countless atoms that made up every minuscule part of the universe. He knew when the last of it finally melted into the night because it felt like a black hole, impossibly large for his vessel, opened up in the center of him.
All he ever wanted was to just be an angel; but with heaven failing and God as their enemy, it didn’t seem possible any more.
Even after the drunken, disturbed nights Cas thought his place was by Dean’s side. He felt like Dean might return his love some day. One day. Tonight Dean made it clear that Cas didn’t belong with them. He felt a sharp sadness but then the feeling dulled, just like that, and his path away felt right.

Why do my first asks get swallowed:((( I was just ranting about how much a jackass Jake Drack is. I didn't think he regretted what he did, but I imagined his mindset more like 'Tim's going to be well cared for, and wayne loves him, he'll probably be better off with him than with me, i have my book tours and stufc anyway, this way everyone will be happy, but I hope I can keep contact with my son' and less like 'I'm glad the brat is gone'. So now I really hate him, and i hope he didn't just (1/?)
reverse all the progress Tim did with his trauma. And a question, just to make sure: the chapters happened chronologically, right? So this happened after Tim cried to Ives about still wanting his dad?? :( And about the yelling, I reread the chapter before commenting, and I realized that you didn’t say he raised the volume, but i guess i just assumed by Tim’s strong reaction. Poor baby… Now i want everyone to talk to him again… (2/2)
If Dana hadn’t left him, I think Jack’s feelings would have been much closer to what you thought they’d be. I don’t know if he would have been able to convince himself that Tim would be better off with Bruce than with him (Jack has always had a sort of petty rivalry with Bruce in canon, jealous that Bruce is so much closer to Tim than he is but not willing to put in the work to get better at parenting his son himself), but he would have accepted it and decided to concentrate on his work and intended to get in touch with Tim eventually. And then probably never do it, just like when he and Janet were traveling the world together.
But it’s always been clear in the comics that Dana is much, much more important to Jack than Tim is. He seemed to see her as his “reward” for surviving his bad marriage and near death: a kind, beautiful, sexy young woman who was much more focused on caring for him and much more willing to bow to his wishes than his dead wife (or his son) ever were. Once she dumped him, it was all over in Jack’s mind. And of course he blamed Tim, because he couldn’t possibly blame himself. No, no, nothing is ever Jack Drake’s fault, not in his mind. He did everything he was supposed to do and lost everything that mattered to him anyway through no fault of his own. The world is just out to get him. Poor, poor Jack. /sarc
It’s awful, but unfortunately it really is realistic for real life abusers. The self-centered mentality, the feeling of entitlement, the inability to see things from another person’s perspective. In a few months, when the loss isn’t quite so raw, Jack might regret the way he treated Tim in this last meeting and wish that he’d kept his temper and tried to have some sort of relationship with his son, even from a distance. But in the moment, with his lack of impulse control, there really was no way Jack wouldn’t lash out.
This was definitely a setback for Tim. He’s going to be very hurt and wounded by those words for a long, long time. But that doesn’t mean that everyone’s words to him in the last few chapters were worthless or forgotten. He will remember, eventually, that every single person who knows the full story has tried to reassure him that it wasn’t his fault, and all the blame rests on his father. Eventually, with time and therapy, he’ll be able to accept that Jack was a bad father, and his view was biased, and his words were hurtful but not necessarily true.
For now, though, yeah, Tim needs a lot of hugs and lot of love and comfort, and I’m going to give it to him.
Yes, the chapters are chronological. :( Tim spoke to Bruce about wanting to talk to Jack, as he’d promised Sebastian that he would. That’s why this chapter happened at all. Hopefully no one ever tells Sebastian the outcome of his advice, or he might blame himself, poor kiddo.
The very first comment on this chapter did point out, though, that it’s impossible to know what the right move is in these sorts of situations, because every decision has the possibility of having a bad outcome. I’ve been thinking about that a lot, and it’s really true. If Tim hadn’t tried to speak with his dad before he moved to Australia, he probably would have regretted that, too. This way, at least he knows for sure how Jack feels about him. It’s horrible and incredibly painful, but everything is out on the table. Sometimes you have to clean out a wound before it can start to heal, and hopefully this step will end up being like that.
Thank you for this very thoughtful and thought-provoking ask! And no worries about the yelling part, I should have been more clear. That’s on me as the writer. I appreciate opportunities to improve.

The Light Bulb Moment: Arrow 7x05 Review (The Demon)
Oliver Queen has a light bulb moment that’s been seven years in the making.
Tumblr media
Team Felicity (yes that’s the name) has one as well, which means we are that much closer to being done with the prison arc!
Tumblr media
Let’s dig in...
Oliver Queen
We finally find out who The Demon is and I gotta say I was legitimately surprised. However, as soon as I found out it was Talia Al Ghul I thought
Tumblr media
It had to be someone related to the League of Assassins and Talia would consider herself The Demon since Ra’s Al Ghul is dead. It’s not like Talia and Nyssa are besties. The amount of hoops Oliver had to jump through to get to The Demon also fits perfectly with Talia Al Ghul, as he notes.
Tumblr media
The real question is how Talia ended up in Slabside and it seems we have Batwoman to thank. Nice shout out to Gotham and a not so subtle reference to the rapidly approaching crossover.
Tumblr media
Talia survived Lian Yu, but it was Diaz’s super drug that healed her. Not unlike how it temporarily healed Diggle’s injury.  Excellent tie in writers.
Tumblr media
Talia is beholden to Diaz, but unfortunately she has no idea where he is. UGH.
Tumblr media
It’s a little surprising Talia believes Oliver will help her escape. Listen girlfriend, you sided with Adrian Chase and his baby Mama ended up dead.
Tumblr media
However, Talia (rightly) points out Oliver murdered her father. She’s not exactly an Oliver Queen fan. So, whatever Dr. Parker is doing to the prisoners is making Talia pretty desperate.
Oliver: You stood on the same side as Adrian Chase and my son lost his mother. So now I’m here trying to save what’s left of my family because I am stuck in a cycle of violence and I have been stuck there since the moment you told what to do with my father’s list.
(Not gonna lie, I was a little verklempt when Oliver referred to Samantha as his family. Olicity and Samantha would have killed it at co-parenting.)
It seems like Oliver has bought into Dr. Parker’s brain bullshit, but he’s just playing along. He doesn’t really believe he’s been stuck in a cycle of violence. I mean, he has but not in a bad way or at least not entirely. I also argue with his conclusion the cycle began when he met Talia. Oliver was thrown into violence the second he stepped onto the raft.
Tumblr media
Talia didn’t create “the monster.” She just gave Oliver direction on how to use it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are a couple reasons why Oliver is pretending to be brain washed. It is possible he believes he’s being watched and doesn’t want to tip off Dr. Parker. Also, he met “The Demon” and she can’t help him with jack, so I don’t think he’s highly motivated to blow his cover for Talia. Finally, Oliver isn’t convinced Dr. Parker is doing anything horrible yet. He’s not buying what Dr. Parker is selling, but Oliver still believes he is trying to reform prisoners. What’s wrong with that?
Tumblr media
A lot if you try to kill them. When Oliver sees the dead body of the inmate who attempted to murder him in the shower fight, things start to look more alarming on Level 2. Talia is surprised Oliver cares about a man who tried to kill him, but he argues whatever is happening behind the creepy and nondescript door isn’t right. Talia is the one who told Oliver to help others and fight for justice, which is all he’s trying to do now.
This is an extremely important development for Oliver. Helping criminals has never been the Green Arrow’s modus operandi. Since Green Arrow is the warmer and fuzzier version of The Hood and The Arrow, you can trust neither of those identities were invested in helping criminals either. In fact, the Green Arrow put most of the criminals in Slabside. Oliver never thought much about why someone became a criminal and he never thought of them again after they were locked up. Of course, the locked up criminals are the lucky ones. There are many who never made it to jail. They went straight to a graveyard.
Tumblr media
Oliver’s policy on killing is fluid, ever evolving and occasionally flip flopping, much to my frustration most of the time. Let’s review:
Season 1: Killing
Season 2: Not killing (except for The Count)
Season 3: Not killing (except for attempting to kill Ra’s Al Ghul on the mountain because Felicity said it was okay and ultimately killing Ra’s Al Ghul in the season finale)
Season 4: Not killing (except for Damien Darhk because he killed Laurel)
Season 5: Killing (except for Adrian Chase because that would’ve proved his point)
Season 6: Not killing (he never caught Diaz so the jury is still out on how Oliver plans to deal with him, but I am thinking jail)
Looking at this it’s fair to say Oliver doesn’t have a hard and fast rule when it comes to killing. He operated from a kill or be killed perspective in Season 1 and Season 5.
Tumblr media
His “no killing” rule was set aside anytime the Big Bad was perceived as a large enough threat or for retribution in Season 3 and Season 4.
Tumblr media
The whole point of having a moral code is to stick to it. If Oliver is prepared to deep six his code whenever it’s inconvenient or difficult to hold to then it’s not really a code. Hence, the reason I’ve been coming down on him so hard about this for the last seven years.
Tumblr media
I believe all human life has value and therefore we cannot kill another human being. Of course, war or acting in self defense is a different story, but my overall stance on killing is a big, fat NO. However, I’m not losing any sleep over any of the people Oliver Queen has killed. These villains are awful, they did horrific things, and deserved to get got. We can even make the argument the world is a better place without these people in it.
However, simply because someone deserves to die doesn’t mean he/she should. Oliver doesn’t get to be judge, jury, and executioner simply because he wears a mask. He may catch criminals outside of the law, but Oliver is not above the law. His killing is a strong argument against vigilantism and Oliver has been striving to be a better hero for several years now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This isn’t entirely Oliver’s fault. For some reason, the writers are determined to box him into an either or choice. Either the criminal goes free or you kill him. I’ve been screaming, “WHAT ABOUT JAIL?” for the last seven years because guess what? We have a way of keeping society safe without killing the criminal.
Tumblr media
Is it a perfect system? Of course not, but no system is. Not allowing Oliver to avail himself of this option while Barry Allen gets to have his very own meta prison seems a little unfair.
Tumblr media
Yes, men like Ra’s Al Ghul and even Damien Darhk may too much to handle even for Slabside, but Oliver had his very own A.R.G.U.S. prison on Lian Yu that he never used, except for Slade Wilson and the Boomerang guy.
Tumblr media
Why? Because that’s Arrow and sometimes Arrow is dumb. They want to Oliver constantly deciding whether the villain lives or dies because it’s one way they mark his superhero evolution.
Tumblr media
I was particularly hard on Oliver regarding Damien Darhk. Not because I believed Darhk deserves to live – he nuked an entire city. However, Oliver killed Darhk because he killed Laurel. Damien was unarmed and de-magicked. Oliver easily could have handed him over to the authorities. Instead, he drove an arrow through him on live television. Thus, creating many of the legal problems Oliver faced in Season 6 and Season 7.
And that’s the point. Killing doesn’t erase consequences. It creates them. Yes, maybe the villain escapes prison and more lives are lost. Maybe the justice system won’t work. Although are we really worried the legal system won’t punish perpetrators of mass genocide? No. Probably not.
Tumblr media
Killing Ra’s Al Ghul ignited a rage in Talia. She sided with Adrian and played a role in Samantha’s death. If you want to know how Damien Darhk’s daughter turns out flip on Legends. It ain’t pretty.
Tumblr media
Retribution begets retribution. This is the lesson Adrian Chase taught Oliver and so he began to view killing a different way in Season 6.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s why Oliver tried to catch Diaz and not kill him.
Oliver: These people are being treated like they are disposable. No one deserves that.
Oliver’s always evolving morality is taking a very important step. He is feeling empathy for the very murderers he helped locked away. Oliver believes these people deserve basic decency despite the horrible crimes they committed. He is beginning to see the criminals’ humanity.
Why is this important? Oliver’s “destiny” is to become the Green Arrow – a fully evolved superhero. Superheroes typically don’t kill. These characters, for the lack of a better word, are Christ like figures. Superheroes have integrity, determination, love, compassion, honesty and honor beyond the regular, everyday person. They are capable of things most people could never dream of doing. It’s why they inspire us. They challenge us to be better because they are better. It’s what makes them superheroes.
Tumblr media
This is where Oliver is headed. His morality has to be beyond reproach. Superheroes don’t lie, cheat or kill. Oliver has worked very hard at fixing these problem areas in his life for the last ten years. Is he perfect? No, not even a superhero is perfect. He/She is pretty close though, which is hopefully where Oliver’s origin story ends.
Tumblr media
Maybe you or I can’t feel empathy for a criminal, but Oliver Queen is called to be better than us. He will draw the line in the sand, so it’s important he doesn’t cross it. The Green Arrow will be the example Star City will look to, so his moral code better be unbreakable.
This means NO KILLING. Not even when the villain deserves it. Not even when Oliver has the moral high ground. Not even when Oliver deserves revenge. Not even when it may protect the city.
There will always be unforeseen consequences to killing, but the real reason Oliver shouldn’t kill is because every life has value. Oliver can understand and even empathize with some of these people now that he is considered a “criminal” too and has spent so much time with them. It will be very difficult for Oliver to kill a villain when he can see their humanity. It doesn’t mean they deserve freedom, but they don’t automatically deserve death either. There’s a middle ground here. If Arrow will finally allow the Green Arrow to avail himself of the prison system, then he can be a better example to the city.
Talia isn’t impressed with Oliver’s new found empathy for criminals, because he did not show it to her father when it mattered. Yeah, well your father tried to poison an entire city cutie, but that’s just details.
Oliver: No because I back then I still allowed the monster that you unleashed to take over.
This is how we know Oliver is faking with Dr. Parker.  You can call it whatever you want – Oliver’s monster, darkness, demons, etc. The name doesn’t matter. Oliver has evolved beyond it. The rage he feels no longer controls him. He faced his “monster” in Season 5 and learned to control it in Season 6. He’s already dealt with all of these issues.
Oliver: Ra’s death was my fault. I couldn’t see past what he intended to do to my city, so I didn’t stop and think about his family, and for that, I am truly sorry.
I could argue Oliver deserves prison. Technically, he is a murderer and not all of his “kills” were done in self defense.
Tumblr media
He acknowledges there was another way with Ra’s Al Ghul, but he didn’t take it. Talia is one of those unforeseen consequences to that decision and Oliver is truly sorry for the pain he caused her.
If you believe Oliver deserves redemption for some of those calls then apologizing to who he hurt is an important part of the process. It’s no different than Bl*ck S*ren. Is an apology enough? No, but Oliver has also spent six months locked away from his wife and child. He’s been beaten, tortured, psychologically lobotomized, and almost killed. (Also, I raise my “Ra’s Al Ghul committed mass genocide” flag again.)  We’re not dealing with apples to apples here, but in the cosmic scale I think Oliver Queen comes out just fine.
Oliver and Talia fight their way into “the room” to take on Dr. Parker.

We get some extremely excellent fight scenes.I am so happy we are back to the days of Oliver taking down 50 bad guys by himself or with someone who actually knows how to fight.
Now it’s Oliver’s turn to drop some truths on Dr. Parker.
Oliver: My father pushed people away. He kept secrets, and I made those same mistakes. But if I choose to break the cycle, I’m gonna do it my way.

MY SON IS SO GROWN!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Oliver yelling his name in his growly voice will always be awesome. I am thrilled any time Oliver can achieve insights into himself and his father. It’s not the cycle of violence he needs to break. If he’s going to be the Green Arrow and Oliver Queen (and yes that’s where this is headed) then there’s going to be some violence. Oliver can tweak how much violence he’s going to engage in though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What’s really important is breaking the cycle of lies and walls. Oliver cuts himself off from those he loves just like Robert Queen did. He has grown so much over the past seven years, and his sacrifice was so selfless, but he still lied to Felicity about prison. He made the decision without her. Every time Oliver lies and pushes people away he hurts those he loves and himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The monster no longer has power in Oliver’s life because he’s embraced love. Every time he chooses an unrighteous path it’s an opportunity for the monster to regain control. Every step away from the light is a step towards darkness. Being a good man is not limited to wearing a mask. He must be a good man as Oliver Queen and as the Green Arrow.

SEVEN YEARS Y’ALL!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE WAITED FOR OLIVER QUEEN TO COME TO THIS CONCLUSION FOR SEVEN YEARS!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Season after season, review after review, waiting, watching and hoping for him to finally understand man and mask must be one. I am legit screaming. SCREAMING.
Tumblr media
This was the light bulb I’ve been waiting to go off in his head. THIS MOMENT WAS EARNED! And worth the wait.

Oliver gives Talia the USB with the evidence they gathered to give to Felicity. He refuses to leave the prison because then he’d be a fugitive for the rest of his life. #OliverQueenPuttingHisFamilyFirstAlways.

Trust me, Talia. She knows.

Oliver returns to Level One and is reunited with his prison wife Stan, who quickly informs him his real wife came for a visit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every time Oliver hears Felicity’s name I swear to God his heart stops.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My heart broke for Oliver when he realizes he missed a precious visit with Felicity. He must have noticed she hasn’t visited as often as she could. (More on that in a minute).
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Stan tells Oliver that Felicity has a beat on Diaz and he’s not exactly thrilled. Oliver absolutely did not want Felicity going after Diaz and it’s clear he’s scared to death she’ll be hurt. He has no way of protecting or stopping her, which is exactly the point. Oliver doesn’t get to decide this time. He has to simply wait and see. Whatever is going to happen will happen. It’ll be interesting when these two are reunited because there are issues.
Oliver has retained his light inside of Slabside, he’s developed more empathy towards the people he’s fighting against, and he understands he can no longer separate his two identities. If Oliver is in need of redemption (particularly with Felicity) then I say he’s learned the necessary lessons to achieve it.  It may be difficult for a time, but Oliver and Felicity will work through their problems once they are together again. In no small part because Oliver Queen is ready to be the man Felicity Smoak deserves and the hero Star City needs.

Felicity Smoak
I am falling in love with Felicity Smoak and Bl*ck S*ren. Nobody is more shocked than me. I don’t know what to tell ya.
Tumblr media
They make the perfect odd couple. Felicity is sunshine and roses while Bl*ck S*ren is a snarky (reformed?) murderer.  There are some similarities to Oliver and Felicity or Laurel and Tommy, which is probably one of the reasons I am enjoying it so much. Light meets dark. Funny meets serious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source:  hollandrooden
The sass and banter is funny and honest.  Neither is worried about hurting the other’s feelings because they aren’t really friends. It allows the characters to say things to each other Felicity and our L*urel would never say. It also makes the development of whatever potential friendship they may have in the future feel natural.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source:  dinah-lance
Whereas with L*urel, I feel her friendship with Felicity was rushed and didn’t develop organically. We went from L*urel glowering and not speaking to Felicity to immediately “favor friends” inside of a single episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HUH?
Tumblr media
It was also a little weird how they never talked about the Oliver shaped elephant in the room too, but whatever that’s all past.  None of this is a problem with Bl*ck S*ren and F*licity. In fact, all the things I asked for with L*urel L*nce I am actually getting with Bl*ck S*ren.
The writers are giving Bl*ck S*ren screen time to develop at a semi reasonable pace, the lawyer thing notwithstanding.
The other characters aren’t pretending she’s a saint or glazing over her mistakes. Bl*ck S*ren is being held responsible for the things she’s done wrong.
Felicity (and Oliver) have no problem taking shots at Bl*ck S*ren occasionally, because they don’t trust her and she deserves them.
Bl*ck S*ren fires back (hilariously I might add) and is rapidly becoming the Spike to Team Arrow’s Scooby Gang - something I think the show needs.
Bl*ck S*ren is lawyering more than Laurel ever lawyered even though she’s not a laywer, which is hilariously amazing in an off kilter sort of way.
Most importantly, she’s helping Felicity in a way that’s actually helpful!
If Bl*ck S*ren helps get Oliver out of prison and then my faves have all the sex, Imma gonna bake her cake or something. Anyone assisting Felicity this season gets an A+ and a gold star from me and Bl*ck S*ren is at the top of that list.
Tumblr media
Listen, nobody is as shocked as me since I was loudly advocating for BS to remain evil. I still like her evil and will be fine if she regresses. However, if they are going to have a L*urel type character on this show then I want the writers to use her effectively. Thus far, they are with Bl*ck S*ren. It may all go to hell in a hand basket shortly, but for now leave me to my joy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source:  felicitysmoakgifs
The best scene was BS asking Felicity out on a friend date. It was almost as cute as Oliver asking Felicity out. It was really sweet to see the part of BS that craves human connection reaching out to Felicity in such an adorably awkward way.
Tumblr media
Alright, that’s enough about Bl*ck S*ren. Time to talk about our girl. Did anyone notice Felicity seems reluctant to visit Oliver?
Tumblr media
Source:  smoakmonster
Bl*ck S*ren tells Felicity to visit her husband and essentially kicks her out of the office. Welcome the Olicity ship BS! The bar is in the back.
Tumblr media
Her reluctance is very telling. Felicity is feeling bad about her last visit with Oliver. Girl, why? You’re fine. The man has lessons to learn.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, Felicity is denied access to Oliver when she arrives.  Felicity demands to see Oliver and think she uses “wife” and “husband” about twenty times in a sentence. Remember when we held our breath for one “wife” or “husband” last season? Now they use it with reckless abandon. It’s fabulous.
Tumblr media
I have been dying for Felicity to meet Stan and yet I had no idea how Arrow would logically put these two characters together. I know logic isn’t always Arrow’s thing, but it’s not like Felicity can run into Stan and Oliver having dinner together. Turns out, this is not that hard!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stan lets Felicity know Oliver has been moved to Level 2. I will always be eternally grateful to Stan for telling Felicity the photograph has become Oliver’s binky.
Tumblr media
I guess I was a little surprised at Felicity’s shock over Oliver stabbing a guard. She’s very “He would never!” about it whereas I am more “Sounds right. He broke a dude’s neck once.” Yes, that was during Oliver’s pre-Felicity days, but he’d burn down Slabside if it means protecting her and William. Her whole “Oliver is a choir boy” reaction rang false to me because Oliver is not a choir boy.
The first person Felicity runs to for help is BL*CK S*REN. We are living in the Upside Down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source:  dinah-lance
How much did you love Bl*ck S*ren yelling and threatening so Oliver and Felicity can visit each other? C’mere girl. Sit next to me. I made you a margarita.
Tumblr media
Felicity confirms she’s only been there ONCE, and granted she was in witness protection for most of Oliver’s incarceration, but yeesh. It has to sting a little for Oliver that she hasn’t been back since. Don’t lie and make unilateral decisions next time, big fella.
Tumblr media
Felicity would visit in sexy lingerie and bring store bought baked goods if you just LOOP HER IN.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Bl*ck S*ren and Felicity go to Dinah to get information on Slabside’s Level 2, since there are no digital records.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Dinah hems and haws about helping Felicity, and she pretty much has to beg, which ticks me off to no end. You are part of the reason Oliver is in prison, Dinah. MOVE YOUR ASS. If Felicity wants to access to the evidence room you should be making her a copy of the key so she can come and go as she pleases. #NewbiesStopPissingMeOff2018
Tumblr media
The records are a mess.
Tumblr media
Source:  dinah-lance
Dinah and BS spend a lot of time arguing about which legal method is best to help Felicity, but to be frank both their ideas suck and take too much time.  Felicity kind of loses it.
Tumblr media
Source:  oliverxfelicity
She’s feeling an immense amount of guilt for being angry with Oliver over his decision to go to prison and not visiting. In typical Felicity fashion, she blames herself for whatever Oliver is going through. She believes she could have prevented it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source:  oliverfelicitygifs
Felicity Smoak breaks my heart. Listen sweetie, Oliver is a big, dumb oak tree A LOT. It’s okay to get mad at him sometimes. This man is a full time project. He’s exhausting.
Tumblr media
If anyone is concerned about Felicity and Oliver’s marriage then this speech should tell you everything you need to know. Being mad at your partner does not automatically mean you don’t want to be with your partner. Marriage doesn’t work like that. For better or for worse is legit. You can be so angry with your spouse you want to throttle them and yet still love them more than anything else on this earth.
Felicity can be mad at Oliver and still be madly in love with him. What Oliver did is no little thing. He made a massive and unilateral decision for their entire family without consulting Felicity. She has to live with the consequences, but had no say in her own life.
We’ve seen time and again when Felicity is angry with Oliver she needs time and space to process those emotions. Felicity needs to work through her feelings before she can work through the problem with Oliver. It doesn’t mean she wants to end their relationship.
While she’s been looking for Diaz and processing her anger, Oliver has been going to extremes in his battle to track Diaz too. Unfortunately, now he’s missing.
Tumblr media
This all hits Felicity where it hurts because her worst fear is losing Oliver. She thought losing her husband was bad enough, but now Felicity is scared Dr. Power’s mind warp program will take Oliver from her forever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source:  oliverfelicitygifs
I just want to hug Felicity and tell her she doesn’t have to worry about Oliver’s mind being erased.
Tumblr media
He dealt with all his deep and dark issues in the sewer with her. Felicity loved him through it and that’s the reason Oliver has remained intact on this new island. UGH. MY BABES.
Oliver and Felicity have remained connected despite their physical separation, but the distance is having an impact on them. They are starting to feel the consequences of time, distance, hurt feelings, and lack of communication. ENOUGH ALREADY! LET THEM BE TOGETHER! I WANT IT TO STOOOOOP!
Tumblr media
Long story short, Felicity discovers Dr. Powers is going to erase Oliver’s mind and finds evidence connecting him to a cold case murder. That, along with Oliver’s evidence, is enough to get the Level 2 program shut down. It makes me a little sad Felicity doesn’t know the evidence is from Oliver. TALIA YOU HAD ONE JOB.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source:  felicitysmoakgifs
Team Felicity, yes that’s the name, has such a fantastic light bulb moment when they realize they can use this Slabside evidence to appeal Oliver’s conviction. I don’t know how. I’m not a lawyer. I don’t know how Oliver was convicted in the first place because he was acquitted. How is he legally in prison? Whatever. I don’t care. Just get him out and send him home to his woman. That’s all I want. I’ve enjoyed the prison arc more than I anticipated, but I’m ready to be done.
Tumblr media
Curtis and Diggle
Lord people. I cannot with Curtis. His undercover mission takes up a significant chunk of the episode and this is how much I care:
Tumblr media
Fourteen PhDs???? FOURTEEN!!!!!!!??????
Tumblr media
I am trying to hang with you show, and I realize you are a fantasy drama, but this is not humanely possible. Also, I am taking issue with Diggle reading out Curtis’ credentials when just last week Felicity tipped her hat to her credentials. She mentions going to MIT and then next week we are listing Curtis’ ridiculous number of PhDs and six languages?!
Tumblr media
It feels like a bizarre pissing contest and yet these writers want me to believe this character is not in competition with Felicity.
Tumblr media
Cammien Ray tweeted something brilliant yesterday and I thought it really summed up one of my primarily beefs with Curtis and Diggle having this storyline. This is everything we asked for Felicity, but they gave it to Curtis.
Tumblr media
Felicity is off doing her own hero-ing and therefore the writing team’s ass is saved, but this character is in constant competition with Felicity. More often than not, Curtis over shadows Felicity so he has a friggin purpose on this show. Arrow is an extremely male dominated series. We don’t need one of few strong female characters sidelined for another male character’s benefit.
Tumblr media
Curtis bemoans all of the misery being a vigilante has brought into his life. Yes, Curtis has suffered the most out of all the characters.
Tumblr media
Oliver lost his freedom, Felicity lost her husband and child and Dinah’s boyfriend is dead. Hell, even Rene has more to bitch about. Zoe’s life was in danger for most of Season 6. BL*CK S*REN has more to be upset about. Her boyfriend, father and pseudo father figure are all dead.
But Curtis? He got a divorce. Sure, that’s sad, but his ex husband isn’t dead. Curtis is probably paying him alimony.
Tumblr media
Curtis was stabbed, his boyfriend shot, THEY BOTH SURVIVED, but woe is me.
Tumblr media
Diggle has the audacity to compare Curtis to soldiers who have fought in war.
Tumblr media
We are not comparing Curtis and his T balls to men serving in the military. The reason why Curtis doesn’t look “done” when compared to those soldiers, John is because HE HAS NOT FOUGHT IN A FUCKING WAR OR SUFFERED ANYWHERE NEAR THE AMOUNT THOSE HEROES HAVE.
Tumblr media
Both of you please shut up.
Tumblr media
I couldn’t understand why Diggle was arguing for Curtis to remain Mr. Terrific when he’s given up on Spartan and Green Arrow.  This is the second character IN A ROW Diggle has argued to break the rules and continue life as a vigilante. Whereas when it comes to Felicity she can’t be Overwatch or break any laws to free her husband.
Tumblr media
I also don’t understand why Diggle is arguing Curtis is so vital to the team when the truth is there are other characters that can do what he does and BETTER. Rene and Dinah are better fighters than him. This is the first week he looked mildly proficient in the field. This is why I say he’s the new LL. One week he can’t take down one bad guy, but the next he’s fighting twenty different people. It’s inconsistent and illogical.
Tumblr media
Felicity is a genius and all the tech goddess we need.
Tumblr media
Anytime they use Curtis’ brilliant mind it’s to short change her. NO THANKS. The only thing Curtis brings to the table is his T spheres and pretty much everyone can operate them. I am quite annoyed with Diggle for trying to talk Curtis out of sidelining himself.
Tumblr media
Arrow continues to glaze over Curtis’ role in Oliver ending up in prison, there’s been no apology and he refuses to help Felicity. Instead, they write an episode where Curtis is given all the storylines we’ve asked for Felicity. Then Curtis whines about how tough life is when the other characters he refuses to help are suffering more. This is not the way to win me over. USE THIS CHARACTER LESS. He needs to disappear from my TV screen for a long time or, God willing, permanently. The more this show shoves this character down my throat the more I dislike him and I have a sensitive gag reflex.
Tumblr media
Stray Thoughts
“Empathy’s a word I’m learning. It’s a work in progress” HA! Loved this line.
I know neither Dinah nor BS are Felicity’s besties, but it was nice having all the women work together in an episode. It also gave Felicity a chance to unload some of her grief and fears. Can we make this a regular thing? Felicity needs girlfriends.
“I taught you to separate the man from the monster. Instead, you exposed your true identity for all the world to see and became the monster you always feared you were.” Bitch where?
Talia teaching Oliver to separate his two selves ultimately lead to her father’s death, so there are consequences for her choices too.
Felicity changes out of her high heels and skirt into jeans and tennis shoes for her visit with Oliver. The practicality in Felicity’s wardrobe this year is A+, so let’s keep the logic. Nobody drives to a prison in heels and she sure as hell shouldn’t wear them out in the field.
Tumblr media
Oliver’s face when he finds out there’s no visitation in Level 2 looks like he was just told his puppy has cancer. Source:  olivergifs
Tumblr media
You have not met Felicity “I Will Always Always Always Wait For You” Smoak. Suck a hot one, guard. Source: olivergifs
Why are the A.R.G.U.S. uniforms so dorky? Let’s cool them up costume department.
I need Stan to be good. Can we just let Stan be good?
Stephen Amell is 6 ft so the inmate who died is ENORMOUS.
Don’t you love how there’s been zero Diaz in any of these past few episodes? He’s just like the Boogey Man, but we never have to see him. It’s fantastic.
I don’t buy for a second Diaz took out a bunch of Bratva, but my larger concern is don’t hurt my Anatoly.
No flashbacks. Interesting.
That Elseworld promo was jarring. I’m scarred for life.

Why being a Sam/Jared!stan or a Dean/Jensen!stan is the stupidest status to hold and why these fans generally annoy me.
Our boys are beautiful.  They have flaws sure.  But they are human and, in my humble opinion, they are some of the best people in Hollywood.  Morally, they are better than other human beings who work in that sleazy town.  I really respect that.
Jared should be a guide to other actors, on how to treat your fans.  Other actors should treat Jared's footage, with his fans, as a set work on how to behave when encountering people that love you.  I had a crush of Viggo Mortensen, but the one thing about him, that I didn't approve of, was that he didn't want to be approached in, say, a coffee shop because he was being disturbed.  Don't take a job that makes people care for you and then get irritated because people care for you.  I still admire Viggo but I will never approach him because he doesn't like that.  I dont think I will ever get to meet Jared because I am from South Africa.  But if I ever did, I will be brave enough to at least wave to him or blow him a kiss.  I know he wont ignore me because he doesn't do that with his fans.  Jared Padalecki makes you fall in love with him.  The best thing about Sam Winchester, is that Sam is played by this awesome creature.
I was abused thrice in my life.  Twice as a child and once as a grown up.  Nobody helped me.  That is why I have a soft spot for Jensen.  He protects vulnerable people.  Weak people and people with illnesses [like Jared] seek him out for companionship, support and protection.  Being sick and broke is horrible.  But Jared has been employed for 14 years because he had a friend who wouldn't let him quit and who never complained about his illness.  I wish I had a Jensen when I was working, who would be patient with me too.  He has kept women safe from predators in the past.  He talks about the production assistants and the reason why I admire that, is because production assistant are the lowest on a set hierarchy.  They do menial work.  And Jensen leaves the big wigs of CW and Supernatural and compliments these small fries.
Both boys are flawed.  Obviously.  I mean, their human beings, after all.  I bet the person reading this is full of flaws.  I am full of flaws.  Nobody is perfect.  Nobody has a good life either.  J2 deal with their own hurdles.  So do we.  But when there is an unnecessary, easy to avoid hurdle, that is when I get livid.  Years ago, when Supernatural was born, the only ''war'' that raged in SPN fandom was between Samgirls and Deangirls over which guy is better.  Why?  May I ask, what is wrong with you?  When I first came across these ignorant fools I thought:
Why does loving one guy mean you automatically have to hate the other one?
And why is it that if your fave is written in a way that you don't approve of, for the sake of furthering the story, it automatically means that the writers are favoring the other one.
Seasons where bad things have happened to Sam [and Dean equally or by extension] have generally done well.  Look at seasons 1 to 6.  When Sam is the inflicted one and Dean is reacting, we get a Hurt/Comfort scenario that we don't even have to write about, because it is all there on the screen, laid out for us.  Those were enjoyable seasons.  But the stans were never satisfied.
Samstans:  Why are they demonizing and torturing poor Sam??!?!?!
Deanstans:  Jensen should leave this show because they give all the story arcs to Jared.
Why is it that the general audience liked seasons with Sam in peril better?  First reason was because the focus was on the brothers.  Second reason, which nobody seems to understand, is that Dean is one of the unique jewels of Supernatural.  Supernatural's dust bowl Americana and texture is closely linked to Dean.  The dearly departed leather jacket, the rock music, the 67 Chevy Impala all are part of the Supernatural landscape and all belong to Dean.  His character, because Jensen has comedic prowess, adds snark and sass to Supernatural.  Sam's seriousness is offset by Dean's sassiness.  The added spice to Supernatural is Dean's character.  Having him reacting, adds texture and emotion to the overall Supernatural story.  Seeing Sam in danger freaks us out.  And seeing Dean go into rescue mode calms us down because ''don't worry, he'll save Sam''.  Meanwhile:
Samstans:  Why do they have to wussify Sam to make Dean look good?
Deanstans:  So is Dean totally pointless until Sam is in trouble? Give him his own story, for goodness sake.
Season 7 was the first season where the brothers were starting to take a minor back seat to other characters, but Sam was getting sick with hallucinations and Dean was going into protective big brother mode, and that was because Ross-Lemming and her agenda came on board and had not been promoted yet, to a position of power.  In Season 8, the promotion happened.  Suddenly Dean and Sam are separated.  They are at loggerheads.  Their reconciliation was meh! but suddenly we started to lose Dean to demonDean, MarkofCain Dean, BesottedwithAmara Dean, and now MichaelDean.  In other words, we are losing our unique jewel of Supernatural: The Dean Winchester who added texture to the landscape of Supernatural.  Plus, the focus is not just on Dean and then Sam dealing with it.  No, we have Cas, luci, Jack, the icky sheriff girls, Mary and Fake Bobby, the AU people and everyone else ''dealing with it'', unlike season three where Dean was going to hell but was still quintessentially Dean and a freaking out Sam who didn't want to lose his brother.  We didn't lose the hurt/comfort scenario and we didn't lose the jewel.  Because Dean was still Dean, just in peril.
Instead of sleepy towns, and sharing a room at a motel somewhere, we now have the insufferable bunker with separate lives.  The Old Supernatural is dead and gone and will probably never return.  And that is because you created the unnecessary division.  And when rogues entered fandom, carrying destiel banners, they realized nobody was really listening to them so they started carrying other banners like ''WaywardSisters'', ''GenIsMyQueen, ''DanIsMyQueen'' and ''Dean Winchester''.  They were pretending to be DeanStans.  They worked tirelessly and created the division while stupid stans were fighting over nothing in fandom.  Sure, the hellers ruined fandom.  But both stans helped.
I am a bibro, because I am not petty enough to fight over which guy is more awesome and who is getting more lines of dialogue.  I observe, without prejudice, what seasons work and why they did.  I like both Js equally.  I get irritated with Dean sometimes.  I get irritated with Sam sometimes.  Sometimes Jensen annoys me.  Sometimes Jared annoys me.  Does that mean I hate them?  NO.  It just means they did something I didn't like.  Am I going to flip out over it?  No, I will just hope it never happens again and more on.  Especially when stans act like the J's mothers.  Stop trying to rescue the boys, from an opinion.
I remember a fan saying once, in a YouTube comment section, that she hated how Jensen chews gum during his panels.  Not the best reason to hate someone.  Maybe the chewing was really annoying for some people to watch.  Maybe she was looking for a fault.  Maybe she was trolling.  Another time a fan said that she didn't like how Jared always says ''without further ado''.  All of the above I mentioned previously apply here too.  Both observations seem petty.  The respective stans flew into actions:
Excuse me, are you perfect?
Do you have a problem with his breathing too?
Why are you being so petty?
There, there.  I am sorry his existence irks you.
Here is what will happen because of this outburst, instead of scrolling by and ignoring the offender.  The offender might have been making an observation and not genuinely hating the guy.  She will now.  She will hate him and his fans.  You are hurting his reputation.  Others reading the exchange will become disillusioned, because ''that section of the fandom is so problematic''.  They will lose respect in the actor and his fans.  One stupid comment and instead of ignoring it, you have a meltdown.  Meanwhile, there is only gushing going on, on a Misha video.  Despite the fact that Misha has such a negative personality, his fans stand by him and gang up collectively on anyone who might ''hurt'' Misha.  So they are barricaded in their little fandom.  Yes, they are toxic.  But at least they have unity.  Shame on you lot.  The bibros are trying to keep this fandom together and keep Misha and his hellers at bay.  And here you are, making matters worse, because you dont know how to behave, treat each other with respect and treat the other J and his character with tolerance.  Shame on you.

An Open Letter to All of Us
Hello everyone.
While this letter was inspired by @no-strings-puppet's Open Letter to Mark’, mine is going to be a little different. I touched on some of these topics in the ‘My Hiatus Experience’ post, (linked here if anyone cares to read it: https://plutoandpolaris.tumblr.com/post/170124481611/plutoandpolaris-my-hiatus-experience-take-this) but not as thoroughly as I had meant to. Thus, here we are. This letter is mostly for my own benefit, to put all of these thoughts somewhere so they’re not cluttering up my brain.
To begin, lets touch on the cult. Again. Yeah I know that I talk about it constantly at this point but it’s important to the whole. Here’s the facts first: Mark created a cult for his own entertainment. The cult was mostly spreading “positivity” in a creepy and off putting tone. There were a lot of unintended consequences to this cult. Several people took it too far and roped Jack and Ethan into it. Mark has made no comment.
Now for the opinions, (mine, to be more specific.) Was this entirely Mark’s fault? No, of course it wasn’t, that’s absolutely ridiculous. No man can effectively monitor 19 million strangers, especially considering he was on the road at the time. However, he could have handled it much better. Mark’s community is notoriously excitable, if I had to choose a word for it. While that’s certainly not a bad thing, Mark fails to set enough clear boundaries. If you don’t put your sheep in a pen, they’re going to get out, wander around, cause trouble and probably get eaten by coyotes. This was a lesson of self control on our end and responsibility for your flock on Mark’s end.
Not only that, but it caused a clear rift between Jack’s community and Mark’s community after Jack liked a post stating that the cult was a purposeful jab at his “PMA” movement. Do I think this is true? No, no I don’t. I don’t know Mark, but from what I do know of him, (or the side of him he makes public), he’s not that mean spirited and downright nasty. He can come off that way, but I doubt that it was on purpose. This, like another event that I will bring up later, was most likely the product of boredom that got blown way out of proportion and caused a lot of unnecessary backlash. In the following days from the incident there was a lot of bad energy in the communities. No outright hate, but it felt like two hissing cats on opposite ends of the room staring each other down. However, much to my relief, the cats never actually pounced, and things settled down.
For awhile.
Now, to take a small detour into the cesspool that is my brain. Thus far I’ve been attempting to be rational and focus on what we know for sure, but now were going into a place where rationality doesn’t exist and there's nothing but constant anxiety covered up by a thin veil of nihilism. Ever since the Melanie Martinez incident, I’ve been paranoid that the people I love aren’t who they say they are. I’ve seen people get “cancelled” before. The hashtags and the instagram spam and the milelong tumblr text posts telling you in 70 languages why the person is trash. It casts a cloud of hatred over the entire internet for about a week, and after that you seldom hear of the ‘cancelled’ person ever again. It’s actually quite horrifying, but most of the time the people deserve it and most of the time it’s never someone I personally knew. Until the #melaniemartinezisoverparty happened. I loved her music, I bought the entire crybaby album, I had a pin, she was one of the first artists that I ever truly loved. Then it was ripped out from under me in the span of 12 hours. I spent that time deleting all of her music from my playlists, basically sponge washing her from my life, but I didn’t feel better afterwards. I didn’t feel like I was doing a good thing, “ giving a horrible rapist what she deserves” so to speak. I just felt awful, and, ever since then, I’ve been followed by an intense fear that it could happen again with someone like Mark or Jack.
Especially Mark. Every time there’s a new drama around him the paranoia comes back, the fear that everything he’s built is a well crafted lie. That he paid teamiplier to be his friends, that all of this was just a ploy to gain fame when he’s actually a horrible, irredeemable person. That someday 25 years from now, his “friends” will come forward and tell us that the real Mark was awful and that they only worked with him for money. Is this completely ridiculous? Yeah, it sure is, but I told you that we’ve left the realm of the rational.
The worst part is that the rational part if my brain isn’t coming up with any better options. Realistically, he’ll just start making mistake after mistake, slowly pissing off his fandom so much that they all leave and the Markiplier legacy fades into youtube obscurity like Fred or TobyGames. Then, when we’re all in our fifties we’ll look back on all of this and say
“Remember that Markiplier guy we used to watch as teenagers?”
“Yeah, what an asshole. Wonder what he’s doing now?’
“Eh, he’s probably dead.”
To some of you that may not be all that bad, but to me, having all of this slowly fade away and there’s nothing I can do about it? That’s horrifying. I can’t do anything. I’m a goddamn 15 year old from the middle of nowhere. I can’t hold a shotgun to Mark’s head and force him to address this, I can’t put back all of the pieces myself. Hell, this letter is most likely useless considering no one reads posts this long. I’m throwing this out there just to get rid of all of these thoughts, because these are the kinds of things that keep me awake at night, (among other things. My own inescapable death, the threat of nuclear war, the economy, my own deteriorating mental health, the fact that getting a job with a speech disorder is extremely difficult and that I’ll probably die under a bridge with no money, normal stuff.)
We have arrived back in the rational part of this letter. For those who weren’t scared off by our little trip through paranoia lane, congratulations. You have a stronger will than I do. Now, I’m going to discuss the newest drama nugget in the 5 piece meal that was the month of January. (That was officially the strangest analogy I have ever used.) The fact that the entire hullabaloo around Dark and Wilford’s ‘death’ was nothing but Mark setting us on fire for the fun of it. Many people see this as him mocking the community’s dedication. Do I see it this way? It’s complicated. To start off with, I’m used to feeling unappreciated and laughed at by youtubers, I’m a fanfiction writer. We are completely ignored by our inspirations and when aren’t it’s because they’re making fun of us. ‘Let’s pick a really weird and creepy fanfic and laugh at it while indirectly mocking the rest of the fanfiction writing community.’ I know they do it for laughs but I’m just imagining what the writer feels in that moment. Completely different topic, I digress.
I do agree that it was not cool. We put work into these theories, we pour so much love into these characters, and when it feels like a youtuber doesn’t appreciate it, that hurts. Plus, while it was fun for him, it hurt a lot of people. The aftermath isn’t worth whatever entertainment he got out of it. Sure, watching a house burn down may be fun, (in a morbid sort of way) but that doesn’t mean that the people trapped inside don’t get burned. When you’re the figurehead of 19 million people, you need to step up and be a leader. When you hurt someone, even on accident, you apologize at the very least. At the end of it all, I can’t force Mark to address this. I can’t do much at all, really. What I can do, however, is talk to all of you. Don’t make it worse. Treat each other and Mark with respect. Take responsibility when it is your fault, because maybe then Mark will do the same.

Once again, you got people calling JKR and Dumbledore shitty people and ableist for not letting Squibs into Hogwarts because “they’re ableist and don’t think Squibs are good enough, Dumbledore didn’t like them so he didn’t use his influence to help them. He’s a disgusting ableist. And JK is horrible for not doing something about their treatment.”
Alright, listen. This whole keeping Squibs out of Hogwarts thing...Dumbledore didn’t start that shit. But yet once again, he’s the one who’s expected to fix it. I will never get how people can direct all of their anger at ONE man for not somehow magically fixing the discrimination that has been going on in his world for tens of thousands of years before he was even born, and suddenly decide that it was his fault that it happened in the first place (the House system, anyone?) Dumbledore is the only one who gets treated that way. He did SOMETHING though, many people have said this. He did try to improve his society at least somewhat in a way that’s canon confirmed which is more that can be said for most. There have been hundreds if not thousands of headmasters and headmistresses of Hogwarts BEFORE Dumbledore, and there will be tens of thousands after him. But they don’t get the shit he does for not fixing everything. Why’s that?!
Anyway, if somehow Dumbledore DID let the Squibs into Hogwarts...they still wouldn’t be able to do much. Because almost everything requires magic, except maybe Muggle Studies, History and Runes. But that’s about it. This is a school for wizards, that isn’t Dumbledore’s fault. And the way they would be treated by the students, even if Dumbledore was harsher on bullying people still do it when the teachers aren’t looking. They would hardly be able to do anything there...and if any of these Squib children have a complex or mental breakdowns or even go into depression and suicide because of being placed into a setting which they’re entirely unsuited to be in, guess whose lap they’d drop the blame in? That’s right, Dumbledore. For letting them in to begin with. Same thing if Petunia had been let in.
And JK Rowling. Why are you calling HER a terrible person?! Seriously, that’s stupid. Unlike Dumbledore, JK is a living and breathing human. Someone who is immensely talented and a great writer; but still human. Anyway, that doesn’t make any sense! Calling her “ableist and terrible and discriminatory”, attacking her real-life moral character over what she chooses to write in her own fictional setting. Who does that?! Oh I know...fucking Tumblr.
Anyway, JK isn’t stupid. She wrote the wizarding world the way it is ON PURPOSE, it’s not supposed to be this magical happy utopia Funtime world. It’s supposed to suck, it’s supposed to be just like our own world with how dark and nasty and violent it can sometimes be. And she left it that way, she didn’t fix it overnight because change doesn’t fucking happen overnight! Rome wasn’t built in a day. And if everything was magically fixed, they’d be attacking her for lack of realism. Real life JK has done a ton of good in the world. Can I say she’s perfect? No, because nobody is plus I don’t know the woman personally! But neither do any of you...yet you attack her morality over what she chooses to WRITE? Really?! This isn’t some thing about how the Queen is so perfect and angelic and nobody should be mean because she’s perfect, this is about how STUPID it is to attack somebody’s real life character over what words they put on a page in a fictional setting. This goes for anyone.
People. Write. Dark. Things. Way darker than JK has ever written. You have people who will reach into the deepest darkest corners of the human imagination and write something so soul-shatteringly dark and terrifying you’re wondering how anything like this can even exist on paper let alone in real life. And they don’t deserve to have their PERSONAL character assaulted because they write those things! What subject matter you choose to write has jack shit to do with your personality. It means you’re a damn good writer. Fiction does not equal reality. Never has, never will. And I don’t get why some people don’t get that.

Cas knew nothing for sure. He knew no more then Sam or dean. Cas has a habit of taking the blame for things that are not his fault. Just because he is willing to take the blame doesn’t mean he is to blame.
The fact is they still didn’t tell Mary anything. Which is what dean is angry at cas for, not telling him everything. He is being a hypocrite. How many times have they not told cas what they were doing, things he should know. The mark, going to the cage, to name a few.
He took it on cas from the start because he wanted someone to be mad at. He is very cruel in how he deals with jack. He forced Sam to manipulate him into the box. He shows no care about who cas feels. His son is murdered by his father. He is forced to be around his corpse. Forced into hell with no care about how he is going to get out. Dean has treated cas horribly and there is no excuse for it. He has no right to say what he did after everything cas has sacrificed for him and Sam. Especially when dean has screwed up more than cas. He is just given a pass by the writer and never has to really learn from his mistakes. Unlike cas who admits to his mistakes and learns from them.
I can sympathise with dean but he has no excuse to treat cas the way he has. Cas has done nothing wrong, nothing that dean himself has done. The fact is he has never really cared how cas feels. I also think it is disgusting that people are glossing over, ignoring his abusive behaviour.
What's your take on the whole Dean vs Cass debate? I like your metas and I'd love to know what you think
Oh boy, we are opening that can of worms it seems…
Short version, just so you know what you are walking into: there are legitimate feelings from both sides, it’s overall a terrible situation, but I strongly disagree with the ‘Dean is being a mean bully’ narrative that I’ve seen floating around. But I also disagree with the ‘Cas had no right to be unhappy with this situation’ take on the opposite end of the spectrum.
Long version.
As I’ve said, it’s a bad situation.
Dean has every right to be angry at Cas. He withheld information that could have helped preventing Mary’s death, Dean has every reason to be angry for the rest of his days, if he feels like it.
Though I understand why Castiel messed up the way he did, the result is still that Mary died. Dean is grieving, and he’s angry, it’s more than legitimate for him to express that anger. If he were picking fights left and right, I’d be the first one to say that he is using his legitimate feelings as an excuse to blow off some steam and that he should tone it down, but he didn’t do anything like that. He was giving Cas a bit of a cold shoulder, and he didn’t prioritize not hurting Cas’ feelings when Castiel himself kept trying to talk to him. I mean, if you keep starting conversations with someone that is clearly mad at you and is trying to avoid you, what do you expect? I understand Castiel’s need to be forgiven, but Dean is under no obligation to value Cas’ feelings over his own.
Dean wasn’t going out of his way to be mean, he was trying to get things done (because there was an apocalypse going on in the mean time) and he was avoiding Castiel because he’s pissed and he doesn’t want him around, and then he didn’t hold back when Castiel approached him regardless.
Dean has every right to do this, just like Castiel has every right to decide that he can’t stay with them if he doesn’t feel welcome and go (I’d argue that it would have been nice if he had given an heads up to Sam, but that’s about it).
I mean, Dean can be short-tempered, but I don’t think he is doing anything wrong in this instance: he is mad at Castiel, and he is acting mad at Castiel without being overly aggressive. That’s it, it’s not even bleeding into being cranky towards Sam, he’s doing good.
Another thing is the argument that Dean is being an hypocrite because Castiel isn’t making a fuss about him wanting to kill Jack.
Let’s start by saying that even if Dean had done to Cas exactly what Cas has done to him and Cas had forgiven him, that wouldn’t negate Dean his right to his hurt feelings, because forgiving him would have been completely Castiel’s choice. Forgiveness shouldn’t be weaponized, and you are not obligated to forgive anyone, ever.
That said, I think this is comparing apples to oranges. They are completely different situations.
One one hand, Jack killed Mary, someone that he cared about and that he had bonded with, and he proved himself to be a threat to humanity. He was showing no understanding of the consequences of his actions nor real remorse for what he did to Mary as a human being, until the last second, which is what prompted Dean to spare him, because Jack finally seemed like himself again—and yes, it could be argued that the situation isn’t completely Jack’s fault as he lacked a soul at the time, but other than the fact that it’s a little besides the point, because he was still a grave threat on the loose that they had to stop somehow, may I remind you that when it was Donatello in that situation, Castiel did exactly what Dean wanted to do with Jack? Zero hesitation. Donatello wasn’t even walking around freely, nor was he that big a threat, if I remember correctly. I imagine Cas understands Dean’s position here, because had it been anyone but Jack he would have done the same.
On the other hand, the only reason Castiel had to keep his mouth shut about what was going on was that he wanted to bury his head under the sand about the threat that Jack could pose. Which is completely understandable, but it still doesn’t take the blame off him. It’s still irresponsible.
I feel it’s like—if Jack were getting drunk, and Castiel saw that he had one too many, and then he let him get into the car and drive, because stopping him would mean facing the reality that Jack has a problem with alcoholism, which Cas is terrified of admitting. He resolves it by saying “Are you sure you can drive, Jack? Okay, just remember not to speed and text me when you are home…” Sure, Castiel couldn’t exactly imagine that Jack would end up running over his best friend’s mom, but he wasn’t oblivious to the risks of letting him drive in that state, so I feel it’s completely normal if his orphaned best friend is pissed at him about not saying “Hey, kid, I’m not letting you drive like that.”
Imo, the only common thing between the two situations is the theme of ‘loved ones getting hurt’, but even then, Dean didn’t kill Jack in the end, so his intention to do so probably doesn’t weight on Cas as much as Castiel’s actions contributing to the circumstances of Mary’s actual death weight on Dean.
So. uhm.
In conclusion I understand both of their positions, but I tend to lean more towards Dean’s side of the argument, due in a very small part to Castiel pushing boundaries instead of leaving him alone (again, I understand his urgency to be forgiven, but in Dean’s position I would have been extremely annoyed, it kind of pushes my buttons) and due in very large part to the backlash I’ve seen against Dean in fandom, which makes me feel some irrational annoyance at Castiel himself.

so we gonna discuss “the spoilers” right now. y’all have been sending me a ton of messages asking me about how i feel about “the package” but i was too mad to address it. well, a couple of weeks later, and i’m even madder. it’s not gonna change.
i would really love for this franchise to get a reasonable female writer who would help them figure out what is or is not complete assassination of female characters. and i don’t mean literally because i’m still waiting for someone to explain how/why did gisele had to die but owen didn’t....... i digress!
this franchise is supposed to be different, it’s supposed to be about family (and racing!), we are supposed to feel emotionally invested in these characters and relationships. and we did. we are. because if i wanted to watch a simple cool action movie, i’d be watching marvel, i heard they are really good at it. SO pardon me for being invested in these relationships and the emotional parts of the movies and my fav female characters.
since the list of what i find horrible about this movie is gonna be way tooo long, catch me after the jump... HEAVY SPOILERSSSSS AHEAD. You have been warned.
- so we finally get our dotty honeymoon. letty having nice things is so rare, it would be such a shame if someone completely ruined it with secret baby mamas and babies for the sake of good old manpain.........
- i know they don’t give a damn about consistent timelines. so which was the biggest screw up? having such an old toddler playing jack in FF7, or such a small baby as dom and elena’s super secret unknown child? because at first glance, it sure looks like Dom has been cheating on his wife... you know after we went through all that trouble to bring her back in FF6. anyway this is allegedly mentioned in the movie - elena apparently says she got pregnant before they learned Letty was alive. so we can suspend disbelief on that... i guess...
- what type of woman decides to keep her whole pregnancy and a baby a secret because the other woman is back in the picture and prevents her own child from having a loving caring father. when was elena gonna tell dom? if ever? was she waiting for the kid’s 16th birthday? and here’s the start of complete female character assassination, first, metaphorically, then later in the movie, literally, because god forbid we let the baby mama live to take care of her child.
- so basically it’s letty’s fault and dom’s happiness the thing that keeps that baby without a father and without a first name. because, eyeroll, the father has to name his baby boy. what kind of mother does not name her child... again, was she waiting for his 16th birthday? oh but she gives the baby a second name, the name of her husband.... you know the memory of the guy she was supposed to be honoring when she decided to leave the police in brazil and follow dom, a criminal, around the world. gotta love that type of integrity. /sarcasm
- once again, dom is gonna make a decision for letty (probably to protect her, *eyeroll*) and is gonna leave her to suffer with no idea of what the heck is going on when he decides to go rogue. remember, when dom left her all alone in the DR because he thought he was protecting her and letty ended up “dead”? that type of ish, except worse because he is gonna be legit risking letty’s life while running errands for cipher. so much fun when your husband is pretending so well to be trying to kill you.
- dom doesn’t tell letty he’s gotta do some bad stuff to save his kid, any kid and elena, but the shaw brothers sure seem to know all about the plan
- dom cries for the first time and it’s definitely not over his wife dying, lying to his wife, almost killing his wife and friends, or betraying his whole family... oh, it’s gonna be rich!
- the shaw brothers... one killed gisele and the other killed han... and they honestly wants us to forgive and forget? what about family? i thought this franchise was about family? or do they just need the biggest number of badass dudes in one movie at once? why? i have no problem with them being part of the movie, i love jason and luke. just not as part of team family....
- in the end, letty is gonna be totally cool with the idea of a baby... without it ever being discussed on screen? why would it? it’s supposed to be sold as this beautiful sacrifice... we don’t even know how letty feels about babies... but let’s give her an instant baby. i dunno. i think couples are supposed to discuss these things together... look honey, i brought a baby, let’s raise it together, and make me a sandwich, woman!
- letty deserves better. i, we, as fans (women and shippers), deserve better. tbh i never thought they would ever bring a baby into the mix before the very end of the franchise, so i’m still shocked about that... i know a lot of people who loved the idea of a dotty baby and wanted it really bad. well, congratulations, you have ruined it for them too.
- i swear to god, if they are planning on having letty stay at home with the kid while the dudes get all the action in the upcoming movies, or if they are planning on letting michelle go from this franchise, i will burn down all my dvds. i am not even kidding.
- ok. one last thing... i am just hoping and praying it’s not true... apparently in the end, dom decides to name the baby brian. i feel so offended. brian is alive and happy living his life to the fullest with mia and his children. i think what they did with brian’s story in FF7 was genius - it felt real and emotional and beautiful. why let this baby story fail even taint what they did. talk about brian. talk about how you miss him, how he is living happily ever after. that’s how you honor paul and brian.
i just really don’t feel like watching this movie at all. i still remember how excited i was letty doing badass things when i went to the theater to watch FF4. and i left devastated they “killed” her and i vowed not to watch these movies ever again. but then in FF5, a friend told me about that after the credits tease and i ran to watch it that same day.
so if they’re not doing these movies for everybody including female fans, and for the connection people feel with these characters, then just say you wanna do action movies with butt shots that make a lot of money in the box office and go!
letty deserves better. she deserves to be more than a plot device for the dom manpain. and michelle deserves to have her name up there with vin not bellow dwayne and whoever else, but we all know why it’s not happening... and everything goes back to the way female characters are treated in hollywood, consequently in this franchise too.
