You know what I think would make an interesting episode in season two?

A episode where they have to confront the temptation of their “perfect life”

(Similar to the Supernatural episode: What Is And What Should Never Be where Djinn make you believe your greatest dream comes true)

Or more specifically, their assumed “perfect life”

Like Angel Dust and Husker would obviously want their souls back but what else could someone assume that they’d want?

For Husker to want to go back to the life of Overlord? Instead of everyone being at the hotel, they’re all at his casino? Charlie is in management, Vaggie is security, Niffty is a maid, Sir Pentious fixes things when they break. (Alastor probably wouldn’t be a part of the equation lol it’d be like the deal never took place). Angel is the top performer, helps swindle the guests out of more money, willingly acts as arm candy for Husk when he needs?

For Angel would it be assumed that he wants revenge on Valentino? Would he over throw him, take over the studio? Or would he start his own gang, maybe with Valentino’s other freed workers - we saw a glimpse of his brother, if he had a successful gang in hell would he “gain” the respect of his brother and father like he never had in life? Maybe he works with Husk to have a safe spot for him and his crew carved out in his casino which maybe houses the others like above?

If, for some reason he was back in hell, visiting maybe, Sir Pentious would probably get the experience of being an overlord, the others work with his eggs as members in his crew, he gets his chance with Cherri Bomb.

Cherri Bomb might run the drug trade or a really competent gang of thrives, has the black market under her thumb. Angel’s her right hand man. We haven’t see much of her interactions with the others (except for Sir Pentious - “RIP”) so I don’t know how they’d fit in. Sir Pentious wouldn’t be “dead” they’d get a chance to explore whatever was going on with them.

We don’t know a ton about Niffty other than some strong characteristics so maybe hers is something more similar to reality than the others. They’re all together she cleans after everyone, has someone who indulges her desires. She gets to kill more than she usually does and then cleans up after?

Charlie and Vaggie’s would be very similar if not the same. The hotel worked! Everyone’s redeemed, they’re all together in Heaven, the exterminations have been ended, everyone’s at peace. Charlie has her family back together, Vaggie maybe never fell but still somehow is connected to Charlie?

Alastor obviously would no longer be on his leash. He’s the most powerful overlord, maybe some of the others are also overlords, in an alliance with him, maybe in his perfect reality he has no connection to them at all, he’s all powerful and has his connections with Rosie and Mimzy (+ whoever else we’ll meet in the future that’s connected to him) and that’s enough. He doesn’t need the other hotel members, he doesn’t want them, he doesn’t want to be altruistic, after all.

Some of them are at a point where I think they’d feel empty without the others, ruining the “perfect” life if they’re not there- though some might be able to settle in without the others

At some point all, most, or some of them start to realize that it’s all a fantasy and have to both rip themselves away and then confront themselves on why they were given that as their “perfect life”

Idk, just think it could be interesting

I know there probably won’t be a episode like that but I think it would be a fun dive into their characters, the assumptions people have of them, and the contrasts of what they truly desire

Even though it’s not likely to be an episode, it’d still make a great fanfic

Might write it 🤔 would have to iron out the maybes lol

Thinking about this well known Proverb and how it very easily could have applied to Branch had he Gone Down a Darker path and also It made me think up an idea where the future Villain is someone else who was outcasted by Pop Village.

I think it could be pretty neat if the villain of a future film was another Grey Troll who was basically outcasted from the Village due to how Peppy used to run things

maybe he even went off with his own small Group of Trolls who were all shunned by Pop Society after the Bergen escape because they weren't Happy and partying 24/7 and actually had issues.

or Hell maybe they were even straight up left behind in the tunnels during the Bergen escape because they were Grey and thus

whichever villagers were meant to be keeping an eye on them didn't care enough to go back for them after they fell behind.

I think it could maybe be cool if a future film had Poppy having to Deal with Villains that were a Direct Result of the flawed way her dad used to run the Village

plus having some Villains who Branch can see himself in and Relate to could be interesting

and maybe this leads to my Peppy Dies idea playing out where Poppy wants to make peace with the Group Despite them being a threat to the whole village

and other people warning her against trying to reason with them Poppy still goes ahead and arranges to meet with them to try and talk peace only for it to be a trap

and as a result Peppy has to sacrifice himself to save Poppy and everything I said in my other post comes to pass

Poppy feels guilty over his death and Branch consoles her since he understands what it feels like

viva maybe blames Poppy at first for not listenening to everyone else and she thinks they have to go full force on the Grey Troll group to stop them.

but in the end after a climax where they do try to stop whatever the Grey Troll Groups final plan is ( maybe they just wanna Destroy the Village or turn them all Grey somehow IDK lol )

but when confronted with the main leader of the Group again Poppy actually proves she truly sticks to her morals and beliefs even in the face of Hardship

and she Reaches across the aisle to the Villain convincing him to make peace for the good of both of their Tribes of people admitting her dad wasn't perfect and made some big mistakes in how he Ran things

but she knows that he wanted her to do better and she wants to do better by them all and that no one else has to get Hurt for it to Happen.

so the leader agrees and he and Poppy make peace for the sake of their people and Poppy for her own peace of mind as well I Guess.

and the movie ends with the other Group integrating back into Pop Village and as a Result we see some changes in Pop society

maybe the movie ends with a support Group Ran by the Grey Trolls being set up in the village to show they are no longer just going to push Trolls to the side or ignore them when they have negative thoughts and feelings

with Branch of course taking part as a show of solidarity

also maybe his loved ones kept on telling him he should try it out since he so obviously could do with people who he can talk to about his problems who could actually understand him a bit better 😭😭😭😭

so yeah anyway point is the Village takes active steps to make the Grey Troll Group feel more welcome and Heard in their society undoing some of the Damage that Peppy accidentally did during his Reign.

and Poppy and Viva Decide not to waste their lives Hating on the leader of the other Group Despite what he did

since they are True Trolls and believe in giving people a second chance to Redeem themselves even if it isn't easy for them.

which I feel would make Poppy's posotive enthusiastic attitude and moral values more Respectable tbh.

Well, let’s see…

I know this isn’t a popular AU of mine, but I really love the Imprisoning War AU (and, consequently, Golden Mercy as well) with my whole heart. Also it has invaded my brain so freaking much I might actually explode LOL. Idk, my mental health and life in general have been not as optimal as I would like, and this AU has been my outlet for that, which is why it’s far more hurt and less comfort than most people like. But I relate to the characters in different ways (people pleaser Link my beloved haha dude I get trying to make everything work for everyone and trying to say yes to everyone and burning yourself out; forever alone and somehow the most rational one Hemisi I feel you girl; everyone relying on you and you have to do it because when you don’t the world falls apart Zelda keep up the good fight girl), I like exploring what happens when you really push the “Zelink has to happen every time, even at the expense of other relationships” agenda that sometimes is tossed around (no hate to Zelink or its shippers, I enjoy some Zelink ships and I know many Zelink shippers who are wonderful. I just hate the idea of forcing them together all the time when there are other relationships that are clearly there lol, I’m salty about how Hyrule Warriors handled it but it was fan service so whatevs. ANYWAY. It creates great drama), and I like showing a realistic depiction of the absolute, if you’ll pardon the expression, shit show that would be left behind in the wake of such a disastrous war that Ganondorf created. It also sets up Ganondorf’s expectations, worries, and views really well for Golden Mercy, and I’m pretty excited to write a Hyrule Warriors long fic and try to redeem that giant jerk while still making it realistic and recognizing he’s a complicated guy. :) They’re all complicated, and I love characters so it’s just so much fun for me. Also, making anybody turn into a good Dad is obviously a passion of mine LOL. I’ll shut up now, but I really love this AU. ❤️ (technically I lumped two stories together for this but they’re all part of the same AU so… there lol)

Blood of the Hero is probably my current favorite long fic that I’m actively updating. The LoZ fandom is sorely lacking good parental figures (and I understand part of that is because Link just doesn’t have parents in his games and partly because people are projecting and that’s understandable), so I wanted to fix it dang it. LET LINK HAVE PARENTS WHO LOVE HIM. BOTW TALKED ABOUT HIS FAMILY. Anyway, I also love letting adults actually have a role in saving the world instead of always leaving it to the poor overwhelmed kids LOL, making them middle aged parents is an absolute bonus. And Abel being constantly tired and burnt out and done with the world speaks to my soul, and Tilieth being the one to hold on to hope despite everything and still have sensitivity and femininity to her while still being a strong character also speaks to my soul. I love them both, and I love showing how determined they are to protect their kids, as any good parent should be. They’re heavily inspired by my own parents, as well as myself, and what I would interpret Link’s parents to be like based on his upbringing and personality, so it was really fun creating their personalities. :)

I have so many Sky-centric stories that I love, but I think my favorite is probably Paradox, I had such a fun experience writing it and loved the idea of giving Fierce Deity an origin story while creating a sense of urgency and confusion and mystery and wrapping it all in a sickfic. :) I cranked that sucker out in thirty minutes and I still think it’s one of my best one shots.

I can only take partial credit for this since @nancyheart11 came up with the original premise, and because @smilesrobotlover has contributed so much as well, but I do love Dad Squad with all my heart. They’re such idiots, I adore them and their quest to save their sons who already technically saved themselves because they’re heroes. Also, the latest development in my brain of including TotK Ganondorf as the main villain from Hero of Shadow seems appropriate in making the big baddie a Bad Dad in a Dad Squad story LOL. Having Majora’s Mask in the hands of Kohga gives me life, though, and I will forever be grateful to Nancy for coming up with that premise HA. I haven’t written much for it lately, but I do love it so much. Also props to her for publishing it on AO3, I could never LOL, I’ll just throw random things on tumblr hahaha. Also, just all the fun we’re all having - the fact that multiple people have written/drawn for this AU makes it all the more precious to me, they’re our collective characters and we all get to play in the sandbox. ❤️

I don’t do much art, I’m not very good at it, but I do want to share one since I’ve shared a bit of it. I have a few pieces I’m actually really proud of, and it’s equal liking for all of them, but I’ll share just one so I don’t talk too much.

I really like this one because for once I kind of drew a face well?? And it’s at an angle I don’t usually draw and it turned out ok?? Also I’ve never drawn rain or wet hair, and I think it turned out well. And I just like Power’s design, especially at this stage in his life where his war attire/design is mixing with his royal attire/design, even if I can’t give it justice. :) Also, I think his tired expression turned out pretty well? Like he has an actual expression?? Anyway. I think it’s decent, I like it. :)

one of my favourite canon things about him is his family life. i know we are not told that much about it, but when his mother tells him that he used to cry and mourn his father’s death along with her, it just hit hard 😭 I made a little post about it here heheh. but I pretty much like how his mother and sister long for him because that means he was loving and caring with them, and he was just having a very bad day (if it can be said like that). aaaand I think we also acknowledge that with the way he threatens Luzhin when he talks poorly about Dunya and Pulcheria, like even in his worst moments, he was unable to stop thinking about their well-being.

also the way he thinks high of almost everyone else, even if on the outside he is just like “meh” about them. like when he tells Razumikhin that he knows he is a good person and very hardworking, I mean, one would have thought that he is just annoyed by his presence, but no, he is so aware of his good ways, he even entrusts his family with him 😭

and of course the way he is so selfless and even if it is during his strange rushes, he doesn’t hesitate to help others.

I think I also like the way he is, somehow, look in for love and understanding? (or idk, that’s how i read it 😭) like his relationship with the landlady’s daughter, and when he got closer to that prostitute on the street and just told her shyly she was very pretty, like please 😭😭😭😭💔

Aight I never mentioned this- but I did finish Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and overall… 👍 it was pretty good?

More under the cut that are obviously spoilers.

Now it being a story made up by the turtles is a pretty good idea tbh?? It kind of took me by surprise, but I can appreciate it a lot. And also it was relatable to see Leo sitting in bed drawing the comic (was there so much as a kid).

And this reason is why I can excuse some clunkiness of some of the plot moments.

My one complaint about it is it feels like the boys kept their brothers too in character? If that makes sense LMAO. Idk anytime I wrote about my brother as a kid no doubt I bastardized his personality.

But to be fair… they did grow up only knowing eachother for their entire lives until this point. Which probably did help them keep them in character. The others (such as Ray, Wingwave, Leatherhead, Stunkbug) I can just wave off since we don’t really see them a lot in the movie already.

Now the one thing that did throw me off… Where is Bebop and Rocksteady?? And Mondo?? The duo seem to be implied to have left or gone rogue in someway since Donnie (?) asked if they were on a rampage. But idk! Just a weird thing I noticed and couldn’t get outta my head.

The animation is stellar, and the designs of the new guys were fun for me. A couple of times I rewinded it just to watch a scene again and the East River Three probably had my favorite designs that were introduced (Mustang Sally and Lee my beloveds) and the Anemenies were also super cool since I don’t think we’d seen coral mutants so far in any iteration?

Pigeon Pete is ok, I think he gets his point of being the new comic relief tbh. I had fun watching his scenes (until the detective scene). I think having him talk made him worse for me somehow lol. And Metalhead (rip little guy) was very cute which surprised me as I’m typically not the biggest fan of robots.

I have no idea if these characters are real btw. Pigeon Pete I’m leaning towards…. Maybe? Just because he is seen in both the Arcs.

But it presumably had to happen since Splinter learned how to talk after mutation. So eh. But also him speaking Vermin (or whatever it’s called) is funny to me.

Also the human designs look… a lot better in 2D LMAO. Which is understandable, but it was one of the FIRST things I noticed when the humans appeared.

Now stories, they’re ok. I thought it was clunky at some spots, but it’s teenagers making it up. So it gets a pass from me.

Now I think the first Arc (told by Leo) is better than the second Arc (told by Raph). HOWEVER… I enjoyed the characters introduced in Arc Two way more. They were just more enjoyable for me to watch, Sally and Lee especially and both their designs are sick af.

It could be that the first arc was advertised more maybe? Or it was simply I preferred the first arcs story more. I did however dig that each arc was a different turtle telling the story and if there is a season two I can only hope that Donnie and Mikey can tell a story.

The Purple Dragons, Rat King aaaand the random animal violence?????

So the Purple Dragons isn’t a big thing but I just didn’t care too much for how it was done. Teens telling stories aside, it just felt… not right for me. It felt weird making Angel the aggressive one and Hun the more docile one. Which I did grow to like these characters I just couldn’t put that out of my mind.

Now the Rat King reveal with it being Splinter (and sewer rats worshipping him). Nothing really, I just don’t like it LMAO. Idk as a kid I could get behind it, but now that I fully know the two as separate characters it doesn’t work.

Aaand finally the random animal violence-

This is a weird one for me and I started to notice it after Ralph’s episode in Arc 1. There is just?? Random bad things that happen to animals? Such as the zoo scene specifically (kind of), the chickens that get ran over in an attempt of a joke, cat hit by flood of water, another cat that Genghis kept almost eating, and probably more I can’t remember.

The last one especially was when it got to bothering me. Cause it was trying to make all of that kind of humorous and it just… wasn’t sitting with me. I’ve never been a fan of that humor, I never will be and it’s just weird how much of it was in twelve episodes. Which again I can maybe say “teen boy humor” but even then?? I don’t think I can here tbh gang. It’s just…. Yeah that doesn’t land well for me.

There’s probably more I can add later, but these are my thoughts at the current moment about it. It’s a good show, animation is great and the story can be clunky at times, but it’s got a reason for it. Designs are fun as well.

its definitely deeply flawed. but i cant lie i enjoyed all of it (yes including the second half) im not gonna really speak much about the negatives that i feel like everyone always mentions with this show..(asumus and akiras plotlines) id just be repeating the same things other people say. THO i need to say ill just ignore most of kiriyas existence..like this is probably the most insufferable character i have ever come across and this is coming from a guy who LOVES annoying guys. he doesnt have like any redeeming things about him so why are we rewarding him at the end there with how things turn out.. it literally makes no sense. personally i think he could have been introduced just to add some drama to asumus school life but thats it speaking of drama.. the first half definitely lacks it and thats one of my personal issues with it. everyones super nice and gets along perfectly well and if theres a few small issues they all get over it within the same episode because they all have amazing communication skills. MAYBE YOU COULD WRITE A SHOW WHERE EVERYONES NICE.. but i just found it incredibly suprising in a rider show and like..idk ig it just didnt really work for me personally? because everyone was so nice i felt like none of the characters really stood out ? sorry for loving drama and miscommunication plotlines tbh.. and honestly it was only really in the second half i really started to like ibuki a lot more. and todoroki definitely grew on me more as well and it was all because of the comedy. i do wish ibuki got more focus in general. i loooved zanki and todorokis relationship and just wish inoue didnt always have to push the female characters away in favor of his yaoi. but he got me invested in them..im sorry women.. clearly asumu and hibikis relationship was meant to be the highlight and unfortunetly things dont reallyyy go that way (but they were super cute in the first half and i loved them a lot) general storyline wise did i know what the fuck was going on? absolutely not. none of the writers made it clear what the hell was up with the douji and hime so that ending was just..whatever. erm but yeah even through all my complaining and all my confusion ..somehow i still really enjoyed the show like i would still put this in the middle-ish -higher end(?) of my kr ranking lol..like idk i ended up really enjoying the cast and just spending time with them, i really liked the three main riders and i defintely didnt find all the plots plain bad. the suits are sexy and i love the general concept and theme so.. and hibiki himself is kinda my goat being an older rider and all that ..we need more riders aged 30+

YES I felt so bad for kid aemond you can tell he wanted to be friends with nyras kids, like when he smiled at them at the funeral, but they were such dicks to him. One of the things that made me love him was how he did a 1080 on his personality and went fuck it idc if nobody likes me, im doing me. And the fact that vhagar transformed him and made him confident 🥲 also idk about you but I literally combusted when they showed he put a LITERAL sapphire in his eye, I mean I knew it was coming because of the books but still actually seeing it oh my god it’s so beautiful. You described it perfectly he altered my brain chemistry lol.

I literally love you so much literally my top favorites of season one are aemond and alicent. AND I LOVE YOU for hating rhaenyra, her kids, and especially daemon I HATE THEM (I really fucking hate daemon with a passion) BUT NOBODY EVER AGREES WITH ME. They’re the fan favorites and people are so insufferable about them. So for some quick book lore neither side is supposed to be the clear “good guys”, yes of course nyra is the heir and should inherit but there’s so many things in the book that makes her not a good guy just like people on the greens side. But instead the show runners decided to make team black the “good guys” that do no wrong and team green the “bad guys” that have no redeeming qualities. They took away most of nyras bad qualities and made people on team green way worse than they were in the books. I could go on and on about this because it pisses me off 🙄 and honestly I hate them all even more in season 2. I feel like I have to give you a disclaimer I really really didn’t like season 2 as much as season 1, they changed a lot of things from the book and even changed a lot from season 1. But I’ll get into that once you finish season 2 lol. Unfortunately my favs for season 2 are aemond and aegon and I hate alicent, which I never thought I would say 😔

The dragons are my favorite too, I’ve always been obsessed with dragons since I was a kid! I love vhagar so so much I have like 3 different tshirts of her, stickers, paintings, and a model statue of her 🥲 people on social media were so mad at her when she ate luke saying she needed to die like how the fuck are you gonna blame a dragon for eating the dragon that attacked her lmao. Quick lore too I can’t remember if this is mentioned? But because vhagar is the oldest dragon and the only one that was alive during the conqueror’s reign she’s the only “war dragon” basically, she’s the only one that’s been in wars and is experienced. All the other dragons are relatively new and lived during times of peace. So vhagar is really that girl, she’s a badass, she takes no shit lol.

Mgs1 is def Liquid he. He's so overdramatic it's really funny. He did so many backflips while explaining his tragic backstory 🥰 and then he just fucking died and turned into an arm which is the real tragedy (I have so many random HCs for him it's insane... I also rewrote his backstory a little...the recessive thing is so dumb)

Mgs2 I think it's a split between Raiden and Fortune. Raiden I really enjoyed playing as a character who is just... idk how to put it I just like that he's flawed and not some morally perfect charismatic guy. It feels like he's set up to be that way and then he whines about everything and is very dismissive at some points. It feels like he's a real person and not perfectly crafted to be the ultimate stereotypical good guy protagonist who can stay cool and collected in every situation. He has his moments where he lets emotion get the better of him and I like it a lot.

Fortune I have less to say about her but it doesn't mean I like her less. I think she's a really tragic character backstory wise but I also like how she sort of "plays into it" I guess? Ocelot points it out himself near the end of the game ("you couldn't get enough of the drama"). I thought the ending where she found out she could've died any time and she didn't have some magic ability was sad too and I lowkey wish she didn't die and was like redeemed somehow (imagine she comes back in mgs4 and has to go against Vamp or something that would've been so cool)..anyway I guess I didn't actually have less to say I like Fortune a lot blehhh😋

mgs3 AGH.. EVA ILY she is such a well written character and I love her so much I could write an essay on her if I wanted but I'll keep it more brief here. She's like a perfect subversion of the typical sexualized woman in video game thing...it's what she's doing as a spy for the mission and the best part is it doesn't even really work lol nice job snake. The game itself even adheres to whether Eva is in her Eva persona or her Tatyana one. It's....aghhhhghhh so great. (I have so many thoughts about her and Liquid btw)

Mgs4...difficult but probably Screaming Mantis. For real this time not a lot to say about her but I do like her a lot more since playing the game she went from my least fav B&B unit member to my fav one. She was really fun to watch in all her cutscenes and her boss fight was one of the best MGS boss fights I've ever done tbh. The callbacks and references to the first game were so good I won't lie I was giggling kicking my feet a lil bit. Screaming Mantis ily I have so many thoughts <333

Peace Walker ermmm Kaz and Paz equal I can't decide..also maybe Amanda. Yeah I like everyone a lot 😭 and Cécile....not Snake tho sorry lol. I haven't finished the game so I haven't gotten the full character arcs of everyone so it's hard to pinpoint exact explanations but you know I love Kaz forever and ever mwah mwah (I'm also a transfem Kaz truther and I'm RIGHT!!!). Amanda has a lot of really cool tapes explaining a lot of...not really exposition but it gives a lot of great context to her character. And her voice acting especially in cutscenes is some of the best voice acting I've seen in an mgs game so it adds a lot. Paz I need to learn more about her. I know basic plot points but not the inbetween stuff that really lets you get to know her. I do feel really sad for her though, Kojima decided he wanted shock value instead of a female character having a nice ending 🤷‍♀️ Sucks.

Mgsv QUIET!!!! QUIET ILY!!! she's soooooo OUGH. I'm glad a lot of the fandom has fixed her from her extremely flawed portrayal in the game because it shows what really could've been and I think I latch more onto that than the version of her in the game just a little. The foundation they were working with was still really good. The way they show her and venom building such a strong bond despite never having a single conversation is really well done and I like it a lot. Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01 - Disc 9

Finally reached the final volume! Really the only things I got out of this was the art and maybe the omake bits. Didn't care about the characters/plot at all lol. I guess this is a parallel universe so it doesn't contribute much to canon...It was cute though, so no regrets.

Ch. 52

-These "final battle" chapters have been a breeze to get through since it's mostly just action. I'm glad they threw a little bit of strategy in there with Taichi's explanation of the dot matrix though. Makes it feel more well thought out.

-In the previous volume I had complained about the lack of a team, but they did explain how Hideto's previous battle was crucial to winning this one, so I guess that's something. (But Zero and Taichi still have to be number one...)

-The mangaka confirmed my suspicions about Neo being an anagram for One. I guess that was pretty obvious...

Ch. 53

-So we finally see the "super ultimate" form of Arkadimon which I guess is stronger than the mega form? IDK...shit's confusing. The design kind of reminds me of the witches from Madoka. Sort of eldritch looking. I don't understand if his appendages are supposed to be like hair or tentacles...

-Sort of want to see an alternate ending where Neo achieves his goal, just so he can then fall into loneliness and despair when he's all alone in his new world (or would he be OP enough to create fake people? IDK...)

-"God Matrix" was pretty epic, but I feel like it didn't seem all that destructive despite looking like a nuke went off. We lost, what, one digimon? (One named digimon anyway)

Ch. 54

-More deus ex machina stuff. Apparently most overwrites shorten digimon's lifespan, but OH! There's a super-special-secret overwrite, the Alforce, that makes digimon power up through sunshine and rainbows! Riiiight.

-I don't like Zero's Alforce form because he looks kinda soulless now, almost like a bad guy. His "outfit" gives super sentai vibes. It's just kinda all over the place. Also, Mari said "he doesn't look like a dog anymore!" This manga keeps tryna gaslight me into thinking Zero looks like a dog when he never did lol.

-I thought the whole "Neo is doing this because of his sister's accident" thing was already established? I know Rei didn't know, but Sigma?

-Lol at Rei INSTANTLY jumping off a cliff. She didn't even hesitate for a second.

Ch. 55

-Okay, I'm going to say something hypocritical. First I was annoyed that Neo was a flat, evil-for-the-sake-of-it, villain, but now I'm annoyed that he gets to be insta-redeemed for "secretly having his heart in the right place." How are they going to pretend he still cares about his sister at this point? I feel like I could go back and find a bunch of evidence of Neo not giving a shit about Rei anymore (in fact 2 seconds ago he was carelessly tossing nukes in her direction), but oh well. I get the vibe that this franchise really likes redemption arcs.

-Lol guess Demon is the final boss after all! What a twist! I like his super ultimate look, very Go Nagai looking. Too bad his name is kinda stupid. Will Neo help fight him? (Somehow...without a partner...)

Ch. 56

-Ugh, they're doing that really tedious shounen power escalation thing. Every other chapter it's like "yes, we've powered up, no one could possibly beat us!" and then "What's this? An even STRONGER digimon!? And they know that legendary, ultra powerful technique!? This is our toughest battle yet!" and then a stronger mon/ability shows up and so on and so forth. I think the digi-formula is to drag the battle on a liiiiiittle past the point of annoying the audience to make things feel more climactic.

-They tried to give Demon some nuance by pulling the whole "liberation from tamers" schtick. I feel like there's not a ton of merit to it since it's the digimon that called the humans into their world in the first place.

-Demon says "humans created us!" I guess in this version of digimon the v-pets exist, so true (but then some just came outta nowhere like Zero?)

Ch. 57

-Okay, I'm glad they used the already established digimental's power instead of introducing more new, innate ancient digimon powers. Super ultimate Zero doesn't look super different from his prior form. It's maybe a slight improvement, but not very noticeable...

-We get a redeemed!Neo moment. I still kinda wish he'd answer for his crimes more, but maybe that comes later. They're kinda busy right now lol

-The digimental looks pretty different from the ones in the anime. Reminds me of an exsphere (from Tales of Symphonia)

Ch. 58

-This was a pretty paint-by-numbers ending. The day is saved, everyone celebrates and then the kids have to go back to their world. One element that set this apart from the anime is that there's still the v-pet element so Taichi is technically still acting as Zero's tamer. How things look from Zero's POV we'll never know.

-The ending reveal of everyone's human world counterparts threw me back to Dot Hack, especially with Rei in her wheelchair. Sigma without a mask was cute, I like how there's some subtle shipping with him and Mari in the background.

Omake - A New Courage

-Lol Taichi and Taichi, now we're getting REALLY meta! They did a good job of visually distinguishing the two Taichi's while still making them nearly identical. The art was definitely the most fun part about this omake.

-Agumon looked soooo cute in this ;w; so tiny next to Zero! And he gets to ride on his shoulders <3

-Why did Zero devolve (de-digivolve?) in this? I thought in the manga universe that wasn't a thing...

-The excuse for the plot this time was pretty lame "oh, the humans are making viruses and stuff so that manifested in our world," yeah whatever. Again, it kind of annoys me how anime!Taichi just instantly agrees to help with a battle that could take ages when he should be more concerned if he'll ever see his friends again.

Overall this was like a C+ experience. Perfectly serviceable, but not super memorable. In MAL terms I give it like a 5 outta 10. What do you call shounen for younger kids anyways? Super shounen? Baby shounen? There's gotta be a term out there...

OP I hope you don’t mind me adding my thoughts to this but… I have so many thoughts that also include characters w my OCs!

-for some reason I feel like as much as Charles doesn’t often give them, he gives really good hugs. Like he gives the warmest big brother hugs ever and my OC Della is like a little sister to him and she loves his hugs. He’s a big guy and I feel like she’d just love being wrapped up in a warm comfy hug lol

-Father Mulcahy gives the best hugs but he never really receives hugs because of his position (and probably also never did in his childhood but I digress). So when it comes to receiving hugs he kinda just freezes up at first OR depending on the person/situation just completely melts (if he’s close to the person and/or is tired, drunk, or upset). I like to think that he loves physical affection like hugging but he doesn’t get it much but wants it that much more when he’s upset.

-Della hugs Mulcahy all the time. At first he just let her because he saw that she was just affectionate with everyone but she’s more affectionate with him than with the others. She always feels safe in his arms but also likes providing that safety back to him

-I will agree with your views on Frank! I feel like if he was so inclined to hug someone he would give good hugs! I also just think he would cling to the person because he probably never got any love as a kid, judging by what we know about his childhood and even his marriage. I bet his daughters think he gives good hugs… or at least I hope they do. We don’t hear him talk about his kids much but I think he has 3. Maybe he’s not around that much, and he cheats on Louise, but I’d like to think he loves his girls. Maybe that can be a redeeming quality. Also maybe it just because I feel bad for him but I’d give him a hug if he needed one.

ohhh that was WAY better than 1x13!!!!!

the only things i didn’t like was the fucking flashback things; once was fine, but THREE times? no thank you. and the other small thing i didn’t like is that somewhere in the final fight scene, the pacing was off/could’ve trimmed it a bit, i think it was in leo and piero’s fight, but like, only just a few seconds off somewhere and it would’ve been fine. (or maybe it was the music? idk, but it felt like the flow went off somewhere, but yeah, it’s only very minor)

jb’s line delivery!!!!!!!!!! so many good moments in this ep, but my favourite is probably the one at the end of his swordfight with piero, the ‘you are the killer, not me’ like grrrrrrrrr yeah that was nice

it’s actually a really good ending, and i can see they were leaving it open for a third series which obviously never happened... but yeah, the way it ends is excellent

i was terribly worried that lorenzo didn’t grow some fucking balls AND more importantly, a brain, but yeah. looks like he got redeemed lmao

when leo got handed the sword i was like, does he even know how to use that skjfngkjfng (somehow i think mac would’ve gotten better use of it, but maybe that’s why he got the mug SKDJGN)

yeah. nah that was pretty cool. jb acted his socks off in this one, and so did colin ryan, and so did the actor for piero. and when you have a smaller budget it’s nice to bring the drama back towards the characters rather than grandeur/spectacle.

okay soooo as an overall note... i still think that s1 is better overall/a more fun watch... 1x01 was okay, 1x02 was better, then the next few eps were okay/cute/nothing special, then 1x06 was good all the way to 1x12 (with the exception of how imo leo wouldn’t have gotten so easily tricked by piero in 1x12); then 1x13 was... well, now after finishing s2, i’d say it wasn’t that great at all lol.

as for s2... 2x01 and 2x02 were pretty good, then there was nothing much/eps that actually bordered on boring, until 2x06, which was an okay-decent ep (i think it just seemed better because it was preceded by really boring eps), and then 2x07 was AMAZING (as good as 1x10, if not better), and then, actually, everything from there till the end was very good. it’s just eps 3-5 of s2 which were duds/inconsistent writing, and also... i think part of the frustration of s2 which made me like it a little bit less than s1, is that lorenzo became so unlikeable for most of s2

i really do appreciate that they changed the actor for piero in s2. idk if it was intentional (probably not lol) but the second guy brings a whole new level of menacing to the role. the s1 guy was great too but very camp; i’m not sure he could’ve pulled off what s2!piero did (in fact i’m pretty sure he couldn’t have). and to think i wasn’t such a big fan of s2!piero at first... /is resistant to change haha

anyway OMG i finished the show, what am i gonna watch now?? The dream was me photographing some guy - he wasn't Hwa at first but turned into him eventually, atp Seonghwa is the default man in my subconsciousness - we were at a sandpit and it wa so fucking dark lol. The funny part about Mary Sue is that it comes from a satirical S/tar T/rek fanfic, I think to my memory she's a fifteen year old girl who moves rapidly up the ranks and is given control of the bridge, and everybody is in love with her, and then eventually she comes down with a swift illness and dies and they name a day after her. It's actually very funny, I read it a while back, and it's not a commentary on female protagonists, it's a commentary on self-inserts... and frankly I think self-inserts can be kind of cute and silly when self-aware.

Obviously, when terms take on new meanings, you can't really control that, but I don't really like the way the term is used in the context of female protagonists... but then again I think the problem with Rey is that her wounds are emotional, her journey is emotional, it's the Heroine's Journey and that doesn't twig for audience members who are paying attention to power levels and not character development or idk, her relationship to the bad man (who is so obviously and laughably going to be redeemed, his grandaddy's redemption was the point of the OT, good fucking grief). Of course what I really don't get is how Rey being of an accepted and appropriate parentage would or could 'explain' her powers properly, because that is literally just self-inserting (I want to be the abandoned Skywalker baby who is loved by everyone!!!) and Rey not being immediately accepted by Luke or the caretakers of Ahch-To was somehow figured into the model that Rey is a Mary Sue lol. I don't know what narrative analysis is can someone help me please, btw what is a metaphor

I think what grinds my gears is that Rey is very straightforward. Rey wants her parents to be important and come back for her so she can stay a child forever -> Rey is no one and must become an adult. Rey wants an easy cause to rally behind so she doesn't confront her wounds -> Kylo Ren is whom they're fighting and he's not easy, he's half of her and he needs to come home and heal the Skywalker wound. Rey is told whomever she was waiting for on Jakku is never coming back for her, but there's someone who still can -> she immediately meets that someone in the next sequence, who even says: "Forget the droid. We have what we need." And he does

I’ve seen a few people on Twitter say that what Shigaraki touches is supposedly Dabi’s blood. And because of that he sounds concerned when he says “Dabi”. (Also, cuz it’s the only reaction we get from Shigaraki this chapter). But idk, I don’t think it’s Dabi’s blood? Wouldn’t it be the remnants of the goo teleportation? Like, it’d make more sense for it to be the goo, right? They came straight out of it not even a minute ago. I think Shigaraki was sensing something within the ground and was just calling out Dabi’s name to warn him or something. But idk tbh, it’s hard to tell if it’s blood or goo. And the amount of people saying that they don’t see Dabi surviving doesn’t help either (it’s annoying cuz I don’t think Shoto will let Dabi just die like that. Besides, I get the feeling that Shoto “waiting” to forgive Endeavor kinda rides on how things play out with Dabi). And don’t even get me started on those dumb “Hawks will kill Dabi to save the Todoroki Family” takes. I’ve seen quite a few of those too. 🙄 Anyway, if what Shigaraki is touching does turn out to be Dabi’s blood… then damn. Won’t be enough to persuade me into believing Dabi is gonna die anytime soon tho lmao.

Actually, if anything — wouldn’t it be Endeavor’s time to finally “save” a son from danger? He failed once with Natsuo when he was attacked by Ending, then he failed a second time with Dabi burning Shoto in the first war. He keeps talking about he “couldn’t move/stood frozen” when they were in danger right in front of him. It’s about time he finally moves his ass to save his son: Dabi. Third times a charm. Besides, in these recent two chapters, Endeavor seems pretty determined. 🤔

Unless Shigaraki somehow pissed out a bunch of Dabi’s blood, I’m really not sure how this could be Dabi’s blood. He’s literally standing in it, and Dabi was a bit away from Shigaraki. He wasn’t standing on top of him.

Also if it WAS Dabi’s blood, Hori would need to do a much better job of showing us that to show us the state Dabi is in. But he’s literally not indicating that Dabi is in any kind of fragile state other than what we already know—his burns are spreading, and quick. Like this is just, there’s no indication for this.

It would be the warp goo. Hori drew it looking all thick and congealed, like goo. Also again, physically how would Dabi’s blood have ended up directly under Shigaraki’s feet.

People who keep saying Dabi is going to die are the same people who said the kids would never wanna save the LOV, the people who said the LOV would never get redemption arcs, the people who said Shouto would never forgive Touya or whatever. Literally it’s just a bunch of sore losers grasping at straws to be right about something. Since they were SO wrong about everything else lol. I have some incriminating screenshots of some Twitter people who said people would “come for me” for saying the LOV would get redeemed (in late 2020 I said this) and I still to this day wonder how they’re doing now 🤔

Can I ask how you write Angor Rot so well? As in, how do you manage to still make him feel so true to his canon character even though he's gone through so much personality and character growth in your fic? I just can't wrap my head around how so well in character he feels even though he's gone through far more different avenues of character development in HTFaS than he ever did in the actual canon. And the way he interacts with characters he's barely even spoken to in canon just feels so natural somehow. (Sorry for being so long winded. >.<) Any tips on how you do it?

hhhhhhhhh, this is another tough question to answer tbh, as someone with basically no writing experience fdgdfhgdfjhgj--

i've just kinda been winging it?? like, planning how i wanted everything to go at the start kind of helped, since i have a full outline of how i want things to progress and it kinda helps me pace out angor's development through each part of the fic. as for like, the characterization part of it, i don't really know... i've watched trollhunters so many times (specifically the angor episodes *sobs*) that i feel like i have a pretty good 'memory' of his canon personality, if that makes sense? like, i like to consider every little detail about what kind of a person he's been, both on and off-screen. i think the fact that he used to be a really good person helps in making it feel 'natural' that he's been getting to that point again. like, if you think about it, he's always had a LOT of goodness at his core, what with his backstory and all, so i don't really have to put a lot of work into making THAT part of him believable, it's more like... applying the current part of his personality (the bitterness and anger and trust issues that developed post-morgana incident) TO his old personality (the caring and just all-around GoodBoiVibes he had going on) that's the difficult part? like, i went pretty in-depth about how i see angor rot from a moral perspective in this post here, so that might help put things into perspective better, idk, i'm just rambling at this point-

but yeah, it's kinda hard to answer as a whole... if there was something specific about writing him that you're struggling with, i might be able to help with suggestions better?? like, with him interacting with other characters for example, you gotta take into account his histories with each of them (like how i write his strickler interactions more on the awkward/tense side, or how with barbara, he kinda gives her more 'space' when they're talking, both literally and metaphorically, since he knows he right freaked her out in the past lol, and with the kids he can be a little more casual since they're more accepting of him and they're all kinda in the same boat of "welp, we all tried to kill each other (and succeeded in some cases) but it's chill, happened with EVERYBODY at some point-" lmfao, idk how to explain *sobs*)

hhhh i'm really sorry for my difficulty in answering this, i'm a kinda bad person to ask for writing advice because i don't really know what i'm doing half the time, i'm just going off of my personal theories on how i see a redeemed!angor au playing out?? it's hard to put into words, i'm sorry if this wasn't very helpful, i'm not great at this sort of thing fghdfgjfhkgj-- i guess my main point of advice would be to rewatch the angor rot scenes in trollhunters a lot? (and that one clip of him in wizards is really important too if we want to consider HOW ABSOLUTELY GOSHFREAKIN' NICE AND PURE OF A PERSON HE WAS, oh my gosh protect this idiot) but yeah, i'd say just roll with whatever ideas you got and try to consider ALL parts of his personality, not just the nice bits, not just the mean bits, but all of it, he's a really complex character after all!
