The teacher thought she was doing them a favor, putting them together in this project. Why wouldn’t she? They were best friends, weren’t they?

Lately, though, it hadn’t exactly felt like it.

The school day had finished, and Reki wasted no time gathering his things and heading out. He didn’t even bother turning to see if Langa would follow him, but of course, he would. He had no idea what thoughts rampaged in the redhead's mind at the mere sight of Langa’s face.

“Uh- Reki?” the lanky teen called, fumbling with his supplies. Reki turned from the door, staring back at him, unimpressed.

“You know where I live,” he said flatly. A shrug and the redhead is once again on his way out the door.

“You expect me to remember that?” He heard distantly, and man, Reki missed making fun of his memory. Making fun of his sloppiness, yet turning right back around and ensuring he was perfect.

But that was the problem, wasn’t it?

No one should be perfect, and Langa wasn’t. Those weren’t the traits of a perfect person, Reki should know. He had all of them and more…

Yet, when Langa performed those actions and flaunted those quirks, it was seen as endearing. Cute.

‘What am I doing wrong?’

Just as he was about to exit the building, Langa came running up behind him, huffing and puffing. Already, he could hear a group of girls that stood nearby giggle and whisper about him. But not in the way they giggled and whispered about Reki.

“C’mon, Reki!” Langa said, holding his side as he made his way over. “I know you’re not talking to me or whatever, but this is for a grade, you know!”

“Yeah,” the redhead states, dropping his board and stepping on. “I know.”

And he proceeds to skate away. Being around Langa just isn’t healthy for him… and he needs to start prioritizing himself a little. He’s spent too much energy on everybody else.

There was a groan from the former, and he dropped onto his board as well to go after him, but of course, he gets stopped by those girls. Reki watched their frames get smaller and smaller as he continued home.

He used to be proud of Langa whenever he got another love confession, but now he was just jealous and frustrated and all the feelings he shouldn’t be feeling. He’s such a bad friend. Why can’t he just push his negative emotions away and be normal again?

He couldn’t even smile at him anymore.

He arrived home, dropping his things lazily by the door and shuffling to his room. He hears his mother say hi, but he can’t find the energy to return the sentiment. He locks his door and flops onto his bed.

Langa would be there any minute.

What should he do?

There had to be a way to at least prolong this inevitable interaction… but how?

Reki lifts his head, peering around his room. He could take a shower. A long, steaming hot shower that would hopefully burn all these disgusting thoughts from his mind.

‘Shut up,’ he told himself. ‘It’s not that serious.’

He grabs a simple pair of plaid pajama pants and a band tee before heading to the bathroom.

His speaker already sits on the counter, so he connects it to his phone and sits on the toilet while waiting for the water to heat. He scrolls through endless skateboard images online before he starts to miss Langa again and promptly shuts it off, feeling the stinging in his throat.

The water is blistering hot, to the point where he physically releases an “Ouch!”, jumping back.

…That was good though. Just that little shock of pain took his mind off Langa.

Maybe that’s what he needs. A distraction.

The boy takes his second attempt at stepping under the water, and although it burns his skin… it feels good.

He gets used to it in no time and proceeds to sing his heart out, not caring who might happen to walk past the bathroom and hear.

As he enters his room, still humming the words to one of the many Radiohead songs in his playlist, he’s stopped dead in his tracks by the frosty blue eyes that find his.

They both blinked seemingly in tandem before Langa gave a chuckle and said, “I didn’t know you could sing.”

The emotion is wiped from Reki’s face and he sighs, sliding into his desk chair. “Do you make it a hobby to spy on people in the shower or is that just a me thing?”

“Only when they think their Thom Yorke.”

Reki met him with a flat look, and the boy shrugged. An eye roll and the redhead turned back to his desk.

“Fifty-fifty it,” he said. “I’m not trying to talk to you.”

“C’mon Reki,” Langa pleaded, seemingly not interested in doing work. That’s good, he guessed. Reki wasn’t either. “Can’t we just talk about it?”

Reki gave a long, hard look into his eyes, searching far and wide for any hint of another betrayal, but they were so pretty that it was no good trying to find anything but perfection. He simply settled for turning back around. “Don’t look at me like that.”

Langa stands to his feet, taking a hesitant step forward. “Like what?”

“Like-“ he looks back over his shoulder dejectedly. “Like fucking that, man!” He feels his voice about to crack, so he breaks eye contact and stares back down at his desk. “Like this is all my fault somehow.”

“I just want to talk to you, Reki,” Langa says, his hands out as if he were trying to reason with him. “Please?”

“Well, I don’t, alright?” the redhead stated, a note of finality in his tone as he pulled his backpack into his lap to retrieve his notebooks. “What do you-“

“Are you saying it’s my fault then?” Langa asked, clearly not picking up on Reki’s attempt to not talk about this.

The was a groan from the latter, and he glared back at the former, his shoulders tight as he snarled, “Of fucking course it’s your fault!” He stood to his feet, his backpack discarded and forgotten. With every word, he moved closer, a sneer on his lips. “I warned you about ADAM. Didn’t I? You saw what he did to me, right?”

“I was just-!”

“What?” Reki interrupts. “Having fun? Curious? He could’ve fucking killed me, Langa! Do you not understand that?!”

“He wouldn’t have killed you.”

“You don’t know that!” He yelled, arms flaring as he turned away to calm himself down. God, he didn’t want to yell at him. He really didn't want to yell at him.

But god-fucking-damnit! He made it so easy!

“Reki…” Langa said, and there he went, saying his name in that way that he knew made Reki fold. It’s unhealthy!

“Langa!” He says, turning, exasperated. “What isn’t clicking, man?”

The blue-haired teen gives a huff, pulling his lips into his mouth. His eyes wandered everywhere but to Reki as he said, “I don’t get why you can’t be proud of me.”

Reki’s brows scrunch. “What-?”

“I’m going to beat ADAM for both of us, Reki!” There’s a grin starting to peek through, almost triumphant. “Isn’t that a good thing?”

“… I never asked you to take down ADAM, Langa.”

Langa’s face fell, but his voice still held volume as he said, “I know. But I still want to.”

Reki peers back up through eyes just barely glossed over. “Why?”

He stammered a few times, searching for the words before: “Because I care about you, Reki!” He exclaimed, throwing up his hands. “Is that so hard to believe?”

“Yes! Langa!” Reki replied, his voice wobbling and cracking. “Yes, it is!”

Emotion from every corner of his mind seemed to seep into Langa’s eyes, and Reki thought that maybe he finally understood.

“Do you get it, now?” He asked, his voice sounding like something between a laugh and a cry. “Ever since you were met with the idea of beating ADAM, it’s like you’ve been obsessed!”

“That’s not-“

“You don’t care about me,” Reki went on, his vision so blurred he could hardly see his surroundings. “You don’t care about anything but beating ADAM. But guess what, Langa.”

Reki met the latter's eyes no matter how hard he resisted. “I cared about you. I cared so much that I made you promise that you wouldn’t go against ADAM because I know what he’s capable of. You saw what he did to me. Do you want to see the scars? Would that get it through your thick fuckin’ skull?”

Reki was panting. Air was hard to come by right now. He just wanted Langa to understand.

The boy in question opened and closed his mouth several times. There were so many words so clearly on his tongue, but it seemed only a fraction came out with, “… What scars?”

“What? Did you think I was getting out of there good as new?” Reki scoffed. He turned and lifted the back of his shirt, revealing that valley of stains and scrapes on his back, a constant reminder of what he let happen that day. The boy let out a chuckle, bitter and guttural as it may have been. “Not pretty?”

He looked over his shoulder to gauge a response, but all he saw was Langa’s mouth flapping open and closed once more.

“Reki, I’m-“

“Don’t you dare say you’re sorry,” Reki gritted through his teeth, letting his shirt fall back down to meet the others' eyes again. “Not again.”

More blinking. More mouthing.

“You know what?” Reki said, turning back to his desk chair. “This is going nowhere. Let’s just finish this project so you can get out of my room.”

Langa still hadn’t moved, but his eyes were starting to gloss over now.

Reki didn’t know how long he’d hold up if he started crying.

He watched, waited. He knew this boy well, even if their relationship had… shifted, in the past weeks. Langa had the tendency to lock himself in mind prisons when met with daunting obstacles. He just needed a minute to lay down the tracks for his train of thought.

Reki supposed he could give it to him.

Turning back to the desk and retrieving his backpack, he gets to work on the first half of the assignment. He’s about 20 seconds in when there’s shuffling behind him. Reki doesn’t turn, though, until Langa taps his shoulder, because the boy tends to be fragile in whatever his current emotion may be after figuring his way out of his mind prison. Sometimes he doesn’t want to talk or interact until the objective at hand is complete. Sometimes he is still a little tangled up in there and doesn’t like to be touched until he’s fully free.

Reki knows these things because he cares.

And because he cares, he recognizes that look in Langa’s eye and sighs, standing and letting him crash in to hug him.

‘It’s unhealthy’ says that voice in the back of his mind, but all he could hear, see, smell, feel was Langa, Langa, Langa, and man has he missed it.

“I’m sorry,” the taller of the two mumbled.

“For what?” Reki replies, the sound muffled by Langa’s shoulder.

“For… for breaking your promise,” he answers.

There’s silence for a long, long moment before, “I really miss you, Langa.”

Langa took a step back, and Reki immediately missed him. God, why can’t they just go back to normal? Why is he still so bitter about this?

“Can we please be friends again?” Langa asked, and Reki's heart tumbled to his toes.

He’s so pretty, even when he cries.

He’s so pretty, and talented, and funny, and everything Reki isn’t.

Is he a bad person for not liking him for that?

He was jealous. Reki Kyan was so jealous of Langa it wasn’t even funny because Langa is perfect in every way and Reki… isn’t. And he would keep blaming Langa for that until he blamed himself, and no one wanted to be friends with someone as lame as that.

And so, with a heavy heart, Reki shakes his head.

“We just aren’t right for each other anymore.”

And it’s a very silent night of completing their project before Reki finally has his room back to himself.

To start, Adam is kinda the villain of my s/i's backstory. Love his character, though we all know he's a questionable man, lmao

Having also been friends with Cherry, Joe, and Adam when they were younger, my s/i was another solidified member of their group. She developed a love for skating and would do it a lot with all of them. Cherry and Joe both developed crushes on her, but she actually became briefly involved with Adam for a while (he's not someone I have actual romantic feelings for, it's all behind them); but Adam hasn't exactly always been kind to people. Their relationship was a bit distant, she admired him but was naive and pretty inexperienced and he never seriously considered her someone he could be with permanently despite any fondness. But, they loved skating side by side together. Her Skater name used to be Eve. But, as she improved and gained recognition beside him, something in him felt unsettled. The first time she actually beat him switched something. He tampered with her board, and during a personal race between them, she fell off a ledge. Adam returned alone, seemingly unbothered, but Cherry and Joe knew something wasn't right and went to find her, discovering her unconscious with a serious injury on her leg.

Their separation was unspoken, but they were no longer involved after that. However, her leg was hurt a lot, and Adam did do a lot to get it treated, but that also put her somewhat under his thumb and she began working as an assistant to him since she became crippled and could no longer skate. Her contact with Cherry and Joe became more limited for a time and she was disconnected from the things she felt passionate for.

She does hold some resentment for Adam and what he had done to her. However, her leg steadily got better, and she made a dramatic redebute into the world of skating at the S tournament Adam put on to get close to Langa and now skates not as Eve, but as Sugar Rush. She resigned from working for him and now pursues art as her career.

Cherry and Joe are complete fools when it comes to Gill. Lots of the bickering they do revolves around her and which of them gets to date her. But when they finally actually go to her after her redebute and ask her which one she prefers, she says she likes both of them. They start a tentative relationship soon after. Cherry and Joe aren't accustomed to sharing, but they both adore Gill and are willing to if it means they can be with her and she's pleased. She helps to mellow out how high strung they are together. Though, not to say they never argue, but she's mastered ways to get them to come to an understanding. Their relationship requires lots of communication, but they have all known each other since they were teens, they've got a solid bond. They mostly all go out together, but she gives each of them ample solo dates too; she focuses often on making sure neither feels too jealous or that they're left out. And the boys work on always making sure their personal annoyances with each other never effect their relationship with Gill negatively. They all care about each other and work together to maintain their little throuple group.

Despite any reservations Gill may have around Adam, she's not opposed to seeing change with him. She might not get at first why someone could actually be into him, but she likes people and would love to be friends with someone new. If they can temper Adam that's a bonus, lol

you ask this as if you dont know about my mad descent back into greek mythology brainrot. But ANYWAY

Reki is a basic choice - building, crafting, creative. Baby boy builds shit from his own two hands, mostly based on experimenting. We see it, he makes his own calculations and tried new and unconventional things, which is giving Hephaestus. Also, there's that imposter syndrome of his or inferiority complex which, while not being a tradition Hephaestus Trait(tm), just gives me Hepheastus vibes. Like this god is essentially the outcast of the Olympians, he got yeeted by his mother off a mountain, is rejected constantly and is just. yeah. Except for Reki it's all in his head because he isn't actually rejected.

Langa is uuuhhhh...... Self indulgent. I wanted Renga to be what Aphrodite and Hephaestus could never be. But also. Dite is beauty and love (and sexuality but whatever). Langa is admired by all (canonically) and is FUCKING PRETTY GODDAMNIT. And I think Langa is a good characterization of Love. And not just person love. Like yes, he loves his friends, he's in love with Reki, but he represents love of an activity, especially once with Reki. Which goes back to what Dite and Hephaestus could never be. Langa, alone, feels nothing. Love, alone, is nothing. Love has to have an object, and Langa's love of skating (and Reki) kinda represents that. Langa's love of sports has a person object. Snowboarding = Oliver. Skating = Reki. And what is Dite? She is love. Langa loves.

Also. Langa is idolized by everyone, something that's heavily associated with Dite. Because of her beauty (because of Langa's beauty on a board), she is idolized and a lot are jealous of her (*cough* Trojan War *cough*). What is Reki? Jealous of Langa because he surpassed him. So Langa being a Dite kid just makes sense. Also he could probably get away with anything he wants if he put in the effort.

And before someone goes BUT APHRODITE IS SEX I think it would be funny for a Dite kid to be asexual. It's just a bit ol' fuck you to the stereotype of Dite kid = sex.

God I hope either the OVA or Season 2 gives us more Cherry and Joe backstory cause fuck do they deserve it.

Cherry, honestly, you have extended your hand to Adam far too many times. Honestly, what has he done for you other than take? You try and give your friendship, you try and give a helping hand, you try and give love, and you try and offer a chance to be better, but he won’t take it. It’s not your job to fix him, and at this point it’s hurting you more than you realize.

I wish Sk8 was longer cause we deserved more serious beefs for Joe, Cherry, Miya, and Shadow. Really amp them up to show why their the top skaters of the place.

So, fun fact, steel beams can weigh over 1,000lbs even if it’s a small beam. Since it was being held up by a crane we can assume that the beam that Joe kicked was at least 4,000lbs. Muscle-bound God of Skateboarding indeed.

Not gonna lie, when I first watched Sk8, I actually put a little hope into Adam, watching him lose his voice after he pulled Cherry’s card. His little “Oh” had me thinking he actually had a soul for a hot second.

The one outcome Joe didn’t want coming true. God can you imagine, even if he won against Langa, he’d still have had to watch Adam and Cherry’s beef?!

Cherry: I’ve been waiting for this day. Adam: I didn’t want to compete against you. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you. I hate you.

I do actually like that Joe can flirt with people he only probably expects a passionate one-night stand, or something of a short relationship from. But, when it’s someone he truly loves, he loses his voice and becomes flustered.

I like the way that Sk8 shows that Cherry’s current feelings for Adam aren’t romantic. When he gets hit, the image that shatters isn’t the one of the two of them looking into each other’s eyes or when Adam calls them special. It’s the one of him with Adam and Joe. The one of them laughing and being happy, something that he wishes that they all could have again.

I’m so gonna make a post on Adam’s boring comment. Like, how can I not? He’s so full of shit it’s actually insane. Like, I’m sorry you’re not letting yourself have fun.

On another note, I’m also gonna make a post on why I think Kaoru can’t go into the zone. And it’s not because of the way he skates either.

               Adam's Smile

You saw them together. They didn't know you were there. Neither of them heard the wheels of your skateboard or the sound of your foot steps until abruptly you stopped. You stopped. Because you just couldn't believe your eyes.

He was laughing his slow secret chuckle that you thought was just for you. He's laughing with Adam and looking at him with his sparkling eyes that you thought were also just for you. You watch as Adam slowly wraps a lock of his hair around one long digit and kisses it. You expect him to react strongly, to break whatever spell they fell in. Whatever hell you've been thrust into. 

He doesn't. 

He doesn't react strongly or turn shy like he usually does. No, he accepts Adam's touch casually. Like it's an everyday occurrence. Like he has grown to expect it. When did this happen, you wonder. Was it when you watched both of them jump in tandem like a dance only they knew. You had been impressed when you saw Adam spinning him as he laughed and then like Adam couldn't help himself, you watched as Adam broke into happy unrestrained laughter as well. And that made you partake in their infectious joy and laughed. They both turn and look at you, for a moment you doubt yourself but then they join you in laughter. Free unrestrained laughter. 

You never felt more foolish. Here you thought all of you were getting closer, together. Happier. But no it was just both of them leaving you behind. And so you watch in frozen horror as he tips his face back and smiles. A smile you have never seen. You feel when your heart stops because he has a smile just for Adam. Adam has a special smile. How didn't you notice?

You need to stop this. Whatever this is. It can't go on any longer. You won't let it. You take in a deep breath because this is you  about to shatter whatever tentative relationship is forming. You refuse to let Adam come between you two a second time. You won't let him. 

"REKI!"

And your heart comes alive because you watch as Reki turns and he smiles. He smiles his Langa smile. The smile that lights him up from the inside. And it's just for you. You watch as Reki jogs over to hug you like he always does and you know that it's not too late. You haven't lost Reki, not yet. Not ever. And you'll do anything to make sure it's you by his side as you both skate towards infinity. 

As you hold Reki I'm your arms, you lift your face and you smile at Adam. You make sure you stare into his eyes as you smile just like Adam did after hurting Reki. It's cruel and empty rage just waiting to be unleashed. You make sure Adam understands that you're completely capable of doing whatever needs to be done to keep Reki by your side. It's a promise, one you intend to keep. It's a smile just for Adam.

There isn't that much canon content fueling this ship but I always have the fanarts which make me ship everything even more... i didn't finish the manga but I do know that it's implied that they end up together and have grandchildren, but that last episode from season one Kanao was totally feeling something prove me wrong. Kanao reminds me of myself.. docile :(

The girl who approaches Reki at 'S' is really cute, however, that's not the reason he smiles at her when he sees her; the grin on his face is because of the skateboard in her hands and the fact that she starts asking him questions about how to improve it.

He can't stop himself, as usual, he begins to babble about the different types of wheels he's created, barely noticing that the girl is grinning as well and getting closer to him.

"I'd love to talk about it more over coffee," she says, pushing her hair behind her ear shyly.

"Why don't you come to the shop tomorrow? And bring your–"

"I think I'll be busy tomorrow," she cuts him off suddenly, she pales, her eyes are looking over his shoulder as she takes a step back. "Sorry!"

Reki doesn't have time to say anything else because she's already running to the opposite direction.

He feels strong arms around his waist, he doesn't get startled though, because he knows who it is without even looking back.

"I'm hungry, Reki," Langa pouts, resting his chin on the redhead's shoulder.

"Time to go then," he says, forgetting about the incident almost immediately.

Something similar happens again at school. For the first time in a while, they arrive early, so when a boy stops him in the hallway to ask about skateboards, Reki decides to give him a whole lecture about all the types of boards he knows.

"That's amazing!" The boy says. "You truly are–"

It happens again, he looks over Reki's shoulder and freezes before saying he has to go back to class and disappearing before giving Reki the opportunity to tell him that they still have time.

"Come, Reki. I need your help with a writing assignment," Langa grabs him by the arm, pulling him closer to him.

"Okay," he mumbles, still thinking about the boy's odd behavior.

As Langa prepares for his race against Cherry, Reki gets closer to Miya.

"Do you think I'm boring?"

The reason why he doesn't ask Langa is because he's his best friend and Reki knows he'd listen to him talk about rocks and still think it's interesting.

"You're always boring, slime," Miya chuckles, but suddenly stops when he notices Reki's expression. "Hey... You know I'm joking, right?"

"It's alright," Reki assures him, looking away so the boy doesn't notice the way he grimaces almost in pain. "Don't need to lie to me. I think you're right."

This time, Miya looks pissed.

"No, you don't get to feel down because of something I said! You know it isn't true! Because I actually think you're... kinda cool you know?"

"Glad you decided to be nice to your brother for once, Miya," Joe says, walking towards them.

"He's not my–Forget it... Why do you think you're boring? Did someone say anything to you?"

"Who was it?" Joe asks as well, looking angry out of the sudden. "Don't believe any of them, kid."

"They didn't say anything... It's just..." Reki sighs and explains what happened. Including that time when a girl stopped to ask him about his headband and she bolted out of the sudden. Reki was confused and Langa assured him it was nothing to worry about before taking his hand and pulling him away.

When he finishes, Joe stares at him for a couple of seconds before bursting into laughter while Miya facepalms himself and sighs with irritation.

"Why is that so funny?"

"They were not bored, you oblivious slime!" Miya narrows his eyes. "They were terrified!"

"Of me?"

At that, Joe laughs even harder.

"No offense, kid. But you're as terrifying as a cupcake."

"They were scared of Langa," Miya says, before Reki can say something to Joe.

"Langa? Why would they–"

"Because he was probably glaring at them the whole time!" Miya is getting impatient.

"But why–"

"You should ask him, kid," Joe says, putting a hand over Miya's mouth to stop him from saying whatever was probably going to hiss at Reki.

Reki doesn't ask Langa, not that night and certainly not the next day at school. But when they get to the park they usually practice and a girl tries to ask Reki something, but runs away from him as soon as Langa approaches them, he tells himself that it's time to talk.

When he turns around, Langa is still glaring at her, even though she has already turned her back on them.

"What are you doing? Why are you staring at her like that?"

"She was flirting with you," Langa almost growls; as soon as he looks at Reki his expression softens considerably, however he doesn't look like he regrets any of it. He has a stubborn, determined expression on his face.

"She was not... Do you–Have you been doing that with all the people that talks to me?" Reki asks, confused.

"Only when they start flirting with you," Langa admits, prompting Reki to stare at him in disbelief.

"Are you... jealous?"

"Yes. Constantly."

That's somehow even more confusing.

"But people ask you out all the time and you always say 'No'! Or maybe you liked one of the people that talked to me? Is that–"

Suddenly, Langa is just a few inches away from him and Reki realizes that the boy has grown considerably in the last few weeks.

"I'm not jealous of you, I'm jealous of them," he tells Reki, gently taking his face in his hands. "They were trying to steal you from me."

Blushing, Reki's lips part to ask something, but Langa leans and presses their lips together. It doesn't take long for Reki to surrender to the kiss, especially after feeling Langa's tongue caressing his bottom lip before pushing inside his mouth.

Why does he have to be good at that too?

"You're mine," Langa whispers over his lips, when Reki pulls away to breathe.

It's not a romantic way to start a relationship, but Reki doesn't care at the moment.

"So you're possessive, I get it," he chuckles, trying to calm his heart a little.

Instead of denying it, Langa presses his lips against Reki's neck and bites him lightly, prompting the redhead to moan.

"Say it," Langa demands, grabbing Reki's waist to pull him even closer.

-Met you at school with Reki and would try to be as close to you as possible, letting you borrow his board so he could enjoy your smile as you skated.

-Due to personal reasons you were extremely touch starved and Langa was more then willing to hug you all day long but he’d find himself staring at your lips in want.

-Once Valentines came around he felt like finally confessing to you despite the holiday being a total cliche.

-Decided to make you chocolates, unfortunately he kept burning the batches so he had to ask his mom for help which resulted in her finding out about you.

-Wrote a message on the chocolates himself despite his terrible penmanship and hoped you would appreciate it and accept him.

-Almost forgets the chocolates the next day since he overslept and was late for school, wishes you a good morning over texts and asks you to meet him at the front gates to talk to you.

I have this headcanon that one day Reki and Langa visit Joe's restaurant after closing hours to catch up and hang out. At some point Langa leaves (like to the bathroom or smth) and Reki starts bragging about getting older and almost being an official adult and Joe's like "...I'm 28 why are you trying to make me jealous of you growing up?" And Reki's like "You're 28? Haha at least I'm not that old yet!" And Joe responds "28 is not old kid." And Reki once again brags like "I'm not a kid anymore that's the whole point!"

And, usually, Joe would settle down for a second and give Reki some brotherly advice. But..... Joe's tired you know? He just had a full day of hard work behind his back and Reki is being just a little too cocky and his patience is running out rather quickly, so instead of saying something like "It's okay to be young, enjoy your younger days while you can" like he normally would, he just sighs and pins Reki's arms to the table and tickles the crap out of him, saying stuff like "You sure you're not a kid, hah? Would an adult wiggle around so much like you?"

CUE Langa returning and being completely speechless at what he's seeing so he just awkwardly sits down and watches the scene in front of him unfold. Reki gets super embarrassed like "Joe stoP! Langa is here-" and he pulls wildly at his arms to try and get them free but Joe (knowing exactly what's going on here) has a death grip on his wrists and doesn't give a damn LMAO, he only stops after Reki admits he's still a kid.

That's how I headcanon Langa finding out about Reki being hyperticklish and over the next couple of days he can't stop thinking of Reki getting absolutely wrecked™ and he's so out of it that even Reki himself starts wondering what's up.

But Langa can't give a real answer because in what universe would Langa honestly admit "I can't stop thinking of your laugh" to his crush?! And he's way too shy to just say "scew it" and go for it himself. So instead he says he had an unusual dream, which isn't exactly a lie either because he was dreaming of Reki's pretty giggles the whole night and Reki isn't really buying it while Langa is just kinda wishing for an opportunity to see it again like-

Please, yes, Joe getting tired of his shit and wrecking him, and poor, pining Langa is just standing there trying not to freak out as he has a crisis over how cute Reki's laugh is.

Reki coming to him later, staring at him with that innocent, confused expression of his, asking what's wrong, and Langa's blushing and not meeting his gaze and stammering out excuses because he doesn't know what to say.

One day Langa gets up the nerve to poke him in the side after he makes some brag about skating, and Reki does this yelp recoil thing, a couple giggles slipping out. Langa immediately excuses himself to the bathroom, and just sits there for a while, trying to get ahold of himself because holy shit he's adorable.

Okay but can we talk about how Reki’s internal conflict is absolutely perfect?

So, since Fullmetal Alchemist was filling the Sk8 void in my soul while I waited for new episodes, and now I’ve finished watching Fullmetal, it’s time to go on a rant about why I love Reki’s character.

I’ve always really related to Reki’s struggles. As an artist, you want to improve and progress. But I compare myself to others a lot, and even friends. I think it comes down to wanting my individuality, I want to succeed at something I’m passionate about because it makes me who I am, and I fear I’ll be passed up.

When Reki started seeing Langa’s growing talent, I think he felt the same. He cares so much for Langa, but he’s jealous, and it’s awful. You don’t want to be jealous of your friends, you know you should be supporting them and proud of them, but that only makes you feel guilty. It’s easy for jealousy to turn into resentment, and that can cause distance between friends if it gets serious enough.

But here’s the thing: Reki never resented Langa.

Even when he was hurt, he was just scared of being left behind. He wanted things to stay the same, he wanted the feelings to go away so that he could skate with Langa again. He was scared that his friend would get hurt, that he would be alone. And he was upset that his promise was broken again, and he was insecure about himself. He abandoned Langa not because he resented him, but because he felt like it would happen in the end anyway due to him being lesser than, at least in his mind. Reki left himself behind more than anything else.

His arc really hit hard for me because I could see myself in him (wuh oh sound the kinnie alarm). Reki’s character is so beautifully crafted, and even if some people see it as over dramatic and pointless, and I mean it is kinda over dramatic cause anime so I’ll give ya that lmao, I don’t think it’s unrealistic. It’s part of why I think the reconciliation scene will go well, because the real stem of jealousy is insecurity. What Reki needs is support and reassurance and I think he’ll get it :) Personally I would like Langa and Reki to keep their pins, but for Langa to refuse the beef with Adam outright. Cause after all, they just want to skate with each other!!

Langas mom absolutely loves Reki and when Langa first introduces him she can immediately tell that Reki is “her”

If you thought Reki and Langa where touchy with each other before well...it only gets worse there isn’t second where there’s more than a Cm between them there either holding hands hugging siting in each other laps there just constantly need to be touching/near each other
