That’s a lot to address! You just pointed out everything I hate about SF and this fandom. (I’m trying so hard not to rant but sorry😅)

It’s interesting how they instantly came up with this justification when these books are romances. The entire plot leading up to that one ‘I love you’ in the end is the point of a romance. When half of the plot is sex and their attraction to each other, how can one accept the MC not saying the three words to the FC (which most of them are imprinting on) even once? These reasons are similar to abuse victim talk, ‘X doesn’t say it but he takes care of me’, ‘X can be a bit rude but at least he doesn’t hit me’, ‘We don’t get along much but at least he doesn’t leave me cold at nights’. This is what Nesta is doing at the end of SF, and also the BC of HOSAF with Ember (I haven’t read it, so fact check that). If throughout the book, Cassian had supported her, took her side, cared for her, been gentle and kind with her, okay, no words are needed, but he openly flamed her insecurities with ‘I don’t know how anyone could love you’. It’s pivotal moment in Nesta’s journey and their relationship which is completely dismissed. Nesta is grovelling for his affection while Cassian is declaring his love for Rhysand instead. I’m sorry, that only happens if the guy comes out and says he’s gay for his bff. Also, let’s not forget this is a guy who is supposed to be emotionally adept and expressive. (I have so many thoughts on this and Cassian’s behaviour but I want to keep this answer about Nesta.)

I completely agree with you. ‘Action speaks louder than words’ apply to Nesta more than anyone else in the story. Even Feyre does most of the sacrificial acts because of her trauma response. Ignoring the new details added in SF because stans argue those were only included to uplift Nesta, there are many moments to prove this.

1. Nesta takes care of the household. It’s her duty but she has no resentment towards her sisters for not helping her. She even dotes on Elain and that takes a lot of strength for a child.

2. She starves herself to force her father into being a parent. It’s not a selfish act to get burdens off her shoulders, it’s her way of getting her father’s attention so her sisters don’t starve to death.

3. She has a terrible encounter with a mercenary in the past and still lurks close to Feyre afraid to leave her alone with one when she could have bolted.

4. She throws herself in front of Elain when the beast shows up in the hovel.

5. She goes to the Wall looking for Feyre alone with a mercenary (whom she doesn’t trust). At this point, Elain and her father are under the glamour. If she’d died, no one would know how or why.

6. She broke off her relationship because Tomas wouldn’t care for Elain or look for Feyre with her. She puts her family first.

7. The first thing she does when Feyre returns from SC is apologise to her. She’s the one to make the first move to fix their relationship. Knowing Feyre loves to paint, she asks her to teach her. She could have suggested reading or dancing which she enjoys but she puts her sister’s interests first.

8. She encourages Feyre to pursue a life and love with Tamlin knowing her sister isn’t happy in the mortal lands anymore.

9. Her only request in exchange for helping Feyre/IC is to protect Elain. After they are transformed, she sacrifices her own healing to care for her sister and ensuring no one traumatises her more.

10. High Lords meeting, scrying was all so Elain was left out of the war. She wants revenge on Hybern because he hurt Elain and destroyed her life. She isn’t even thinking of what was done to her.

11. She abandons the plan of getting to the Cauldron because she sensed Cassian is in danger, also exposing her location to Hybern who’s been looking for her.

12. She throws herself over Cassian knowing she’ll be killed but still does it anyway. ‘I’d rather die with you than see you die’ (Like come on! You have to be blind not to see this and still take the man child’s side.)

13. She leaves River House because she doesn’t want to burden her sisters. It’s what Feyre always wanted, her exact words in ACOTAR were ‘another mouth to feed’ which is what Nesta is trying to avoid.

14. She scries again when she’s afraid of her powers so that Elain can stay away from the Cauldron.

15. She stands up against anyone who disrespects Cassian, Elain or Feyre.

16. She saves Emerie and Gwyneth in the Blood Rite knowing she’ll probably die.

17. Her love for Cassian is so strong that when she believes he died, she unleashes her powers which she kept hidden until then. (Her powers are new too and this woman never lost control and hurt anyone unlike Rhysand, Tamlin, Feyre.)

18. She sacrifices her powers to save Feyre and her child—a power she stole as a vengeance, a power that’s part of her—because her sister is worth more than all that. For this, she makes a bargain with the Cauldron which she has spited more than once and is afraid of.

These are her specific acts of love and not ‘it’s the right thing to do’ or ‘my sister wants it’. If there’s anyone who’s proved their love in healthy way in this series, it’s Nesta. There’s no condition for her love or limits. She’s unapologetic and fiercely protective of the ones she truly cares about. Also, despite being reserved, she expresses her love and admits her mistakes in words—with Feyre, Cassian, her friends.

Oh, also what about Rhysand's actions in prostituting Nesta to Eris, or keeping the pregnancy from Feyre, or laughing at Nesta being punished for something Feyre forgave her for pretty much instantly?

These stans don’t even hide their hypocrisy. When Rhysand/Feyre/IC do something, their ‘reasons’ count and so their actions can be overlooked. When it’s anyone else, they should be judged on their acts alone. Pick a fucking side already. Nesta considers selling her body for money to care for her sisters—that’s gross. Rhysand sells Nesta to Eris without even hinting at it to anyone, not Feyre, not the WOMAN INVOLVED—feminist king giving power to women. Rhysand endangers Feyre with pregnancy—‘he cares about her!’ Is he the one going to labour? Is it his body growing a killer spawn inside? Is it his body going to tear itself apart to let that child out or bleed to death? ‘Oh, but he didn’t want to put pressure on her’ More than finding out the child is going to kill her when the hormones are riding high and she’s on the brink of labour?

And Nesta being punished is ridiculous. Who is Feyre to forgive Nesta in the first place when it was Nesta making meals for her and doing chores? All Feyre did was hunt and paint, she says so herself. Anyone who hunts knows you can’t and shouldn’t do it everyday as it’s not good for kill. So Feyre was doing nothing on some days and still didn’t know how to do chores? If Nesta deserves Feyre’s forgiveness, Feyre should apologise too and make up for treating her sisters like maids.

AND why does Nesta need Rhysand’s forgiveness? I have sisters too and we have broken up with guys for far less than this shit. It’s not romantic. It’s a red flag and a sign of immaturity, manipulation and abuse. It shows the guy is incapable of seeing perspectives and understanding others who aren’t directly related to him or beneficial to him. That he might very well isolate you from the ones who truly and deeply know you so that you’re left with no one else but him. No woman will sit around and watch her sister get punished by a man for something that happened between them unless she hates her sister and is indirectly feeding off of it.

This fandom is toxic af. If they sat down with their grandmothers, mothers, aunts, sisters, girl friends and had an honest talk, they will see how similar all these are to the ABUSE they live with. Nesta’s story is very close to my heart even if I hate to admit it. Not because I loved the book or even Nesta, but it’s the story of the women in my family and the one my cousins and my sisters are trying to avoid. Whenever anyone romanticises Nessian relationship, it’s hard to hate/be angry with these girls when I know some of them will live this and that’s when they will face the harsh reality. It doesn’t matter how hot Cassian is, how hot their sex is, none of it matters when he doesn’t care or even respect a woman for than her body.

TXT College AU Headcanons

Because TXT are officially in (Cyber) University, why not have some fun imagining the shenanigans they’d get into as average American college students? (All quotes are irl quotes by me and my friends btw XD) 

Yeonjun is the one who wakes up half of campus by screaming in the quad in the middle of the night. He is not drunk. 

Yeonjun accidentally becomes the poster child for the school and is in every ad because he is just that pretty and talented. The others never let him live it down

Yeonjun, two weeks of class left: “Is it too late to admit I don’t know what’s going on in this class?” 

Soobin was unanimously elected president of his fraternity. His frat is  actually like nice and chill, but they JUST NEVER LISTEN TO HIM. He leaves with a headache after every chapter meeting 

Soobin doesn’t understand how football works but shows up in full gear and face paint to every game 

Soobin: “If the teacher doesn’t show up in 15 minutes, we can leave”

Beomgyu is the one who burns the popcorn in the dorm at 3AM and triggers the fire alarm. Multiple times. Taehyun threatens to strangle him 

Beomgyu is on some obscure sports team, like archery or water polo, and Yeonjun is 100% convinced Beomgyu is making it up just to fuck with him

Hueningkai and Yeonjun sustain themselves off of cup noodles and whatever they can steal from the cafeteria (27 containers one time, but who’s counting). It’s not unusual to walk into the dorm kitchen in the middle of the night and see one or both of them standing in the dark slurping noodles with a dead look in their eyes

Beomgyu and Taehyun are each other’s go-to dates for Soobin’s frat’s parties because 1) It saves them the headache of having to figure out dates every time 2) they love to tease people who are jealous 3) who else is gonna turn up with them to “I’m a Barbie Girl” 4) It gives Soobin a migraine every time they clear the living room just to do a dance battle ending in Beomgyu dipping Taehyun, and really isn’t giving Soobin a headache one of the great simple pleasures of life? 

Soobin and Hueningkai one night were like, let’s get an ouija board. Immediate regret. Taehyun didn’t even bother trying to stop them, he just he hid in his room because he is a scaredy cat and smart enough to know not to mess with spirits 

Yeonjun and Beomgyu are straight A students which drives their professors crazy because they’re always talking loudly and goofing off together in class and taking up office hours trying to flirt with the professors 

Taehyun at the library: notebooks open, study guides neatly typed out, 10 highlighters and red pens at the ready, reading three books at once. Soobin next to him: gave up studying twenty minutes ago, downing a family-sized cheeto puffs bag 

Beomgyu and Hueningkai have movie nights in the dorm’s common room (often leading to said popcorn burning). They eventually get banned though because Beomgyu keeps screaming at the jump scares. And because they had reconstructed the entire common room into an elaborate fort 

When Taehyun gets really homesick he sleeps in Yeonjun’s dorm room, curled up on the beat-up bean bag and making that ‘Taehyun scream’ at anyone who tries to make him move. Yeonjun just feeds him snacks by hand and tries to convince the RA, No no, he swears, he really isn’t hiding a pet cat in his room

I have been thinking about the potential of a buddie sex scene more than I ought to, I'm sure. You could say I've been a smidge preoccupied since realizing all the legit sex scenes in the show happened in season 1/early season 2. In seasons 3/4, the closest I think we've gotten to textual sex is Madney having sex to induce labour and that consisted of Maddie throwing her shirt at Chimney from off-screen.

Someone on that post (can't find it now of course) said that 911 Lone Star took over the original 911 later time slot and thus took over the ability to have sexier content.

As someone who hasn't watched a television show live in like 5 years, your ask has prompted me to do actual research to confirm this 🤓 According to pogdesign, 911 currently plays Mondays at 8pm and 911LS plays at 9pm which supports the theory.

That said, it kind of strikes me as weird that 8pm is considered too early for sexy content? But maybe I'm just out of touch with cable television??

So I did more research! So much research omfg this took 3 hours of my life. 😅

First we define the issue at hand

I'm defining a "sex scene" as a scene that involves two or more people mackin' on each other with any of the following:

the beginning of clothing removal onscreen

the movement towards a bedroom or bed

getting into someone's lap as a sign of escalation

post-coital pillow talk or cuddling

actual shots of naked skin and writhing (softcore porn essentially)

So 911 got moved to 8pm. Do any other 8pm shows have sex scenes?

CW - The 100 🔥 (I know there was a minimum of 2 wlw sex scenes, though they may have been post-coital)

CW - Riverdale 🔥🔥 is another teen show that I don't watch so I youtubed "Riverdale sex scenes" and I'm led to believe at least one couple is banging semi-onscreen well into season 4 (it has 4 seasons???)

NBC - Chicago Med 🔥, a procedural show not about teenagers and seems to have a least 1 couple with sexy scenes (the other Chicagos air at 9pm and 10pm) and I saw lap sitting for a hardcore makeout for the other couple!!!!! TIM TAKE NOTES!

NBC - Superstore 🔥, a half-hour comedy that played at 8pm on NBC, did have at least this one cut-away sex scene

So 2 teen shows, 1 procedural and 1 comedy all had something in the way of "sex scenes" while airing at 8pm.

But what if Fox the network is the sex-scene-killers??

Apparently Fox literally has only 5 scripted dramas of which the 911 is one and the others are:

The Resident 🔥🔥, a medical drama that plays at 8pm as of season 2 (9pm for season 1) and the main couple seem to have several sex scenes, but interestingly from what I can glean from YT, they may have stopped after s2 (though the couple stays together until at least s4 from what I can tell)

LA's Finest 🚫, a rebroadcast through Fox, it airs at 9pm and YT didn't show me any sexy scenes

Fantasy Island 🔥🔥 which plays at 9pm and looks to have sexier content based on the trailer

911: Lone Star 🔥🔥🔥 which plays at 9pm. Tarlos have had like 2 heavy makeouts/implied sex scenes plus a pretty hardcore-for-tv sex scene in the s2 finale

So it seems like even for Fox, the 8pm timeslot isn't necessarily what's vetoing the sex scenes in 911. But just to hammer that home, I did even more researching into the watershed hours, which is apparently the designated time broadcasters can show sexiness, but in the US that's 10pm to 6am so if the restrictions were such that they couldn't show any sex scenes before 10pm, Tarlos wouldn't have gotten that finale action (thank you, IRL bff who watched 911LS so I didn't have to!)

TL;DR - a summation of our findings

The 8pm timeslot is not the sex-scene-killer I once thought it was (see: all them filthy shows)

911 being a cop show is not a sex-scene-killer (see: dramas, procedurals and comedies all had sex scenes)

Fox is not anti-sex in their 8pm scripted dramas in general (see: The Resident)

Fox is not anti-sex homophobically (see: Tarlos, Hen/Eva)

However!! There seems to be a somewhat weird, somewhat isolated trend of Fox shows either cutting off or tapering off sex scenes (see: 911, The Resident) after 2 seasons or specifically after 2019.

So what are the theories (from least to most favourite)?

Theory #1 (Buddie loses 🚫): "Something" happened at Fox in 2019. The Resident is the only true analogue to 911 as it's also on Fox, also premiered in January 2018, also started at 9pm but was moved to 8pm (in season 2, not season 3 like 911). If my very brief googling can be trusted, The Resident saw a lot of sex scenes in season 2 (at 8pm) but after 2019 there isn't much to write home about. That lines up with what we've seen in 911. If something happened internally at Fox that changed broadcasting guidelines for 8pm, then canon Buddie will not get sex scenes unless the timeslot changes back.

Pros: It would be a hell of a coincidence wouldn't it?? Both shows airing around the same time, both stop showing sex scenes around the same time???

Cons: It's pretty weak, I can't find anything that supports "something" happening in 2019 that would affect an 8pm timeslot but not the 9pm one.

Theory #2 (Buddie loses 🚫): Sex as a short-term sales tactic. Fox uses sex in the first two seasons of shows to boost ratings and get people hooked because sex sells. But then, for whatever reason, they taper it off. If so, Buddie being canonized would not produce any sex scenes as we're far removed from season 2.

Pros: The Resident and 911 both stopped showing sex scenes after season 2 from what I can gather

Cons: If sex sells, why wouldn't it keep selling all the way to the bank?? There's no reason to stop something that's working.

Theory #3 (Buddie wins 🔥): Actors are the roadblock. Fox is fine with sex scenes at 8pm but the actors aren't comfortable! If so, Buddie sex scenes could be in the cards as both actors have had on-screen sex scenes previously.

Pros: Angela Bassett, Peter Krause and JLH are bigger names and they presumably get to not get naked on screen or simulate sex scenes if they don't want to. Aisha Hinds as a (criminally) smaller name wouldn't have had that kind of leverage in season 1, nor would Ryan Guzman in season 2? And Oliver Stark knew what he was signing up to to play a self-diagnosed "sex addict" so.

Cons: This is absolute, complete conjecture. I have zero idea what each of their comfort levels with sex scenes are or how that might relate to the writing/direction of their characters.

Theory #4 (Buddie wins 🔥): Stable canon relationships kill sex. Fox dramas use sex only pre-maritally to build relationships and the network or the showrunners/writers decide it's not as important once characters are in stable relationships/married. If so, we will get Buddie sex scenes as their canon relationship develops.

Pros: The Resident couple did get married post-season 2 I think? Athena stopped having onscreen sex after she married Bobby. Hen had sex but out of her marriage.

Cons: That's dumb, let married people bone. And we technically do have a Madney sex scene, tame as it was (but maybe they straddle of the line of stable but pre-marital???). Also if sex = building relationship, EddieAna have been excluded from that formula oops 😌

Theory #5 (Buddie wins 🔥): We're overthinking all of this. There hasn't been sex scenes past season 2 because the stories haven't called for it but when it does, such as the start of a new relationship, then we'll get some!

Pros: We haven't had any "new" relationships other than EddieAna since season 2 and their lack of intimacy is a glaring reminder they aren't well suited - they're not boning for plot reasons. While not strictly meeting the aforementioned definition of a "sex scene", we could use Albert coming out of Veronica's shower as a use of sex-as-relationship-building.

Cons: That's dumb, let married people bone, the sequel. Especially since HenRen is criminally neglected in terms of development and could use a fun playful sex scene.

So what have we learned?

Should Buddie go canon, 3 theories indicate we'd get some sex scenes for them, and only 2 say we wouldn't. The odds are in our favour. 🤡

I will do literally anything to procrastinate writing this damn fic that's been tormenting me for weeks. Please someone, anybody...send help...

Tonight is the biggest night of your life. You booked a gig that could give you your big break. You were opening up for one of your friend’s band, Twisted Island, who has a contract with one of the biggest record labels, Sub Pop Records. You were so nervous you practically didn’t sleep the night before. Luckily, one of your friends gave you some melatonin to make you practically pass out. 

You look to your computer to find a message on AOL  from your boyfriend, Tyler. 

Tyler: Morning 

You: Morning

Tyler: Meet @ Moonshine Cafe in1 hr. I want to spend time with you before work

You: Ok, love. See you soon

Tyler: See you soon <3

Your boyfriend wasn’t only one of your oldest friends from LA but also an emerging music artist. He was the one who helped you land the gig, on top of your friends who you were opening for. He knew some other big record labels and invited them to your show. In case you didn’t land a deal with Sub Pop Records you had the other labels you could possibly sign with.

You get up to shower and get ready to meet your boyfriend. You hop in your car and head to the cafe. Not long after your boyfriend arrived. You gave him a big kiss and head to get seated. Of course, Tyler pulled some strings so you two could be seated at their private table. 

“These are for you, for good luck,” Tyler says and hands you some flowers.

“Awe, thank you,” You smile.

“I’m sorry I can’t help you prep more for tonight. I just can’t miss out on this collaboration with Madonna,” Tyler says.

“It’s ok. It’s an amazing opportunity, I’m excited for you. But you can make it for soundcheck right? It’s at five and I got you a backstage pass,” You say pulling out a lanyard.

“Yes. We should be done between 3:30-4,” Tyler says taking the pass from your hands. 

“So how many songs are you gonna record with Madonna?” You ask.

“Not sure. Today we’re just writing some. I’m hoping for at least two or three,” Tyler says.

“Well, no matter how many you write together. I bet they’re going to be amazing. I can’t wait to hear them,” You say as your food arrives. The two of you spend the rest of the time talking about his collab and your gig before you receive a call.

Luke: Y/N I just woke up. The guys and I are gonna meet at the garage soon.

You: I’ll meet you guys there in 30.

“Who was that?” Tyler asks

“My friend in Sunset Curve, Luke. The guys told me they’d help me prep for tonight so I gotta go soon,” You tell Tyler.

“Those guys are great. I have to go soon too anyways. I need to be at the studio in like an hour. But I wanted to get there a bit early,” Tyler says.

“You always like to please people,” You laugh. 

“You know me too well,” Tyler laughs as a waiter brings boxes over. You pack your leftovers in the box as Tyler pays.

“Thanks again for breakfast,” You say.

“You’re welcome. The best way to start off the day. I’ll see you later tonight,” Tyler says.

“See you tonight. 5 O’clock at The Los Angeles Theatre, don’t forget,” You say.

“I promise, I won’t,” Tyler says and kisses you goodbye. 

You get into your car and head to the Sunset Curve garage. Once you made your way into the garage you find that only Alex and Reggie were there.

“Hey guys,” You say.

“Hey,” The boys say in almost unison. 

“Where’s Luke and Bobby?” You question.

“Bobby is supposed to pick Luke up. He probably slept in,” Alex says.

“I thought Bobby was the punctual and responsible one?” You ask.

“Who says we’re not responsible?” Reggie asks, clearly feeling hurt.

“Me, but you guys did have that gig last night right? How’d that go?” You ask.

“It was great. Reggie even--” Alex starts before he gets slapped in the chest by Reggie.

You raise your eyebrow, “Reggie even what?” You question.

“Dude, just tell her. She’s not gonna give up, you know that,” Alex says.

“I may have had a special night with this girl,” Reggie says quietly.

“Oh yeah? Is this someone you’re gonna see again? Or more like a one-time thing?” You ask.

“I-I don’t know,” Regie says.

“Either way I’m happy for you,” You say. You then hear the doors open and turn to find Luke and Bobby walk in.

“There’s our big shot!” Luke yells before tackling you with a hug.

“Not quite yet. I still gotta play tonight,” You say pulling away.

“Either way. My best friend is getting her big break AKA our big shot,” Luke says.

“What about us?” Reggie asks furrowing his eyebrows.

“We’ll get our shot, but today is about Y/N,” Luke says.

“Aw shucks,” You chuckle. “So I’m playing like five songs and if I’m being completely honest...I haven’t picked them out yet,” You say.

“Well I know ‘Rose’ and ‘Shadows’ are two of my favs,” Luke says.

“‘Constellations’ is also a great one,” Alex adds.

“Those three are at the top of my list,” You say and pull out your music journal.

“What about the song you and Luke wrote together?” Bobby asks.

“‘Red Hearts’? That’s a duet song. I can’t really play that one,” You say.

“Y/N’s right. It’s meant to be sung by two people,” Luke smiles at you.

“I think ‘Bracing for impact’ and ‘Devil’, will fit in with the others then,” Bobby suggests.

“Yeh, but I haven’t played ‘Devil’ more than twice and one of those times was in front of you guys,” You say.

“You are an amazing artist, Y/N,” Luke grasps your arms. “You barely need any practice. Remember when I threw you on stage with us to sing one of our songs?” Luke says. 

“That doesn’t count, Luke. I watch you guys practice all the time,” You point out.

“But you memorized the lyrics,” Alex says.

“Ok...I guess that was impressive. Fine, I’ll do these five. Thanks, guys,” You say. 

“Great! I can’t wait to hear them,” Luke says as the other nod in agreement.

“Oh! Also, I pulled some strings and got you all backstage and sound check passes,” You say pulling four lanyards out.

“Backstage passes to the Los Angeles Theatre?!?” Reggie exclaims taking all four passes from your hand.

“You know the three other passes are for your bandmates right?” You ask.

“Oh. Yeah. I just can’t believe we get to go backstage at the Los Angeles Theatre,” Reggie says handing his bandmates the remaining passes.

“Soundcheck is at five,” You say.

“You know we’ll be there,” Luke says and smiles at you. You and the boys hang out as they practice. 

“Y/N, who are you opening up for again?” Bobby asks.

“Really? My friend whose in Twisted Island. They’re signed with Sub Pop,” You respond.

“Seriously? How did you get this gig exactly,” Alex asks.

“Well, my friend. But Tyler also invited a couple of other labels to see my show,” You say.

“Don’t forget us when you get big,” Luke says.

“How could I? You guys are the ones who told me I should play gigs in the first place,” You say.

“You and Luke have known each other for however long. Why didn’t we invite her to sing with us again?” Reggie asks as everyone in the room gives him blank looks. “What?” He asks.

“Reggie...do you really think that an amazing singer like Y/N would ever want to join Sunset Curve?” Luke says putting his hand on Reggie’s shoulder. 

“In my defense, none of you asked me,” You respond. 

“So is that a yes?” Reggie asks.

“I didn’t know that was an invite,” You say.

“Ok. Hypothetically if we offered...would you like to join?” Reggie asks.

“Uhh...we didn’t have a band meeting about this,” Bobby adds.

“It’s a hypothetical question, but I know I wouldn’t mind,” Luke says.

“I mean she’d be a great addition,” Alex says.

“And she can play a mean guitar. But she might steal your lead singer role, Luke,” Bobby says.

“Why do I feel like I’m being interrogated?” You ask.

“Just answer the question,” Reggie says.

“Ok, ok. Let’s say you offered me today. My answer is, let’s see how tonight goes,” You respond as the boys seem pleased with your answer. “Speaking of tonight, it’s like 3. I need to get ready and then head to the theatre,” You say and get up.

“Alright we’ll see you there,” Luke says as you hug each of the boys.

“5 O’clock. Don’t be late,” You say walking out of the garage.

“We won’t!” Reggie yells.

You head back to your apartment and get ready to head to the Los Angeles theatre. You grabbed your guitar and your accessories and head to the theatre. Once you got there you already heard Twisted Island doing their soundcheck.

“There she is,” Adam, your friend, says as you walk in.

“Hey,” You say setting your stuff down.

“Ready for tonight?” He asks.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever be, but I don’t have any choice,” You respond hugging him.

“You’ll do great. You remember Jessie, Shawn, and my brother Mike,” Adam says pointing to the respective band members.

“Yeh, I’m Y/N Y/L/N,” You awkwardly say.

“We’re almost done with our soundcheck. Miles, there, will show you to your dressing room,” Adam says pointing to the man with a headset on.

“Thanks,” You smile as you’re lead to your room. You make your way in and set your stuff down. You first make a call to Tyler, but no answer. A few minutes later you hear a knock at your door.

“You’re up for soundcheck,” Miles says. You grab your guitar and other things and head to the stage. As you were setting up you see the Sunset Curve boys walk in. You stop and go to greet them.

“Hey, guys. I was just setting up,” You say as you hug them.

“This is amazing!” Reggie says excitedly as the others look around in awe.

“This is Adam the lead singer and guitarist in Twisted Island,” You say noticing him and his bandmates walk up. They introduce each other.

“Hey, where’s Tyler?” Luke asks.

“I don’t know. I told him to be here at 5 for soundcheck. I called him but he didn’t pick up. I’m sure his meeting with Madonna is going late,” You say before heading to finish setting up. You play the five songs out while the two band watch. Tyler still hadn’t shown up. 

As you finish your soundcheck, you set your stuff down and go to your dressing room to try and call Tyler again. He didn’t pick up so you decided to leave a voicemail, “ Hey, Ty. I just finished soundcheck. The show starts in 30, hope you’ll be here before I go on,” You say before hanging up.

You hear a knock at your door, “Yes?” You say. The door opens to the four Sunset Curve boys walking in.

“That was amazing,” Luke says.

“And Twisted Island is a cool band,” Reggie adds.

“Not as cool as you,” You say half excitedly.

“You good Y/N?” Luke asks as you look at your phone.

“Yeah. Just uh, waiting for Tyler to get here and a little pre-show jitters. You know, the usual,” You say. Luke notices the sadness in your voice and looks at you with sad eyes, but you don’t notice.

“If your soundcheck sounded that good. Then your show is gonna sound twice as good,” Alex says.

“Thanks,” You say when you get another knock on your door. You open it to find Adam there.

“Hey, sorry to interrupt. I just wanted to let you know the theatre is filling and you’re going on in 15,” Adam says.

“Thanks,” You say. “Hey, guys, I’ll be right back,” You tell the boys. You follow Adam to the stage, hoping to see Tyler in the audience.

“Hey, I know you’re gonna do great, and our agent is gonna be impressed. You’ll get some offers tonight,” Adam says.

“Thanks again for this gig. It really means a lot to me,” You say while hugging Adam. 

“You’re welcome. Anything for one of my oldest friends. See you in 15,” Adam says and walks away. You make your way to the edge of the wings and look out to see if you can see Tyler. Yet the reserved seat you had Adam set out was empty. 

You made your way back to the dressing room and check your phone. You find a missed call from Tyler along with a voicemail. You head out of the dressing room to listen since the boys were being quite loud. “Hey, Y/N. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for soundcheck. Madonna and I just went a bit over with the writing. And then she invited me to a party. I can’t miss out on this opportunity, but I know you’ll do great tonight. Love,” The message said. 

This wasn’t the first time Tyler had missed one of your gigs due to an opportunity he had himself, but this was the first time that it was just for a party. He had always supported you when you needed it, but on a big night like this, where lots of labels were looking at you, was not the night to ditch you. Especially since he personally invited a few himself, they were here but he wasn’t. 

You took a few moments to take a hold of yourself before walking back into the dressing room, but as soon as you walked in you felt the mood change as all of the boy’s eyes landed on you. “You alright?” Luke asks again.

“Yeh, yeh,” You say looking at your phone.

“Hey, guys. Can I talk with Y/N alone?” Luke asks the boys and they quickly made their way out of the room.

Luke walked up to you and took your hands in his, “It’s just us now. Tell me, are you ok?” Luke asks once more.

You take a moment before responding, wishing you could lie but you knew he’d catch it, “N--no. Tyler promised he’d be here. And I was calling him to make sure he’d be here on time. But I just listened to a voicemail saying that he’s going to a party with Madonna instead,” You explain.

“You know I always thought he was a jerk right?” Luke says.

“Luke…” You sigh.

“Seriously. I don’t care what connections he has or if he really got labels to see you play tonight. He never supported you like I have, like the guys have,” Luke says.

“He has though. He’s come to my gigs before,” You say.

“Can you count the number of your gigs he’s attended on both hands? I know you’ve been to way more of his. Look, Y/N. Forget him, he never really cared for your dreams and career. If he really loves you he’d be here tonight instead of going off with Madonna,” Luke says.

“Yo--you’re right. He’s only been to three of my gigs and I’ve been the millions of his. It just makes me nervous with all these big people looking at me,” You say.

“Here,” Luke says letting go of your hands. “I’m gonna give you my bracelet. It’s my lucky bracelet. All your nerves will go away and you’ll kill it tonight. I know it,” Luke says slipping his bead bracelet on your wrist.

“You’re on in 2,” You hear someone outside of the door say. Luke kisses your forehead. You take a big sigh and head to the stage. 

You wait for your cue as you see all of the people in the audience chatting away and the people from the labels scattered through the crowd. Not a moment later you’re told to make your way on stage. You walk on stage and pick up your guitar, you take a big sigh and rub your fingers across the beads on Luke’s bracelet. Once you felt calm enough and your heart started to beat a bit slower you start to strum the chords to your song “Shadows”.

Claps filled the air as you finished,” Thank you. My name is Y/N Y/L/N. That song was called Shadows, it was about me fighting my demons and getting over my stage freight. This next one is called Rose,” You say and start to play your guitar again. You play the last four songs in your set while cheers and claps filled the air. 

“Thank you! My name is Y/N Y/L/N. Here is Twisted Island!” You say after you finish your set. The band members made their way onto the stage.

“Give it up for my good friend Y/N,” Adam says before you head off stage. You watched their show from backstage cheering and clapping with the audience. 

As soon as the show ended you see Twisted Island’s agent walk up to you, “My name is Ashley. That was some great music. I’m glad Adam had you open for them tonight. We’ll be in touch,” She says before walking off. A few more agents had talked to you and offered you some deals or told you they’d also be in contact. 

“You killed it!” Luke yells as he and the boys run up to you.

“Thanks guys,” You say with a big smile.

“Honestly I think you played better than Twisted Island,” Reggie whispers to you.

“You’re only saying that because you’re my friend,” You say.

“It’s true!” Reggie says as you head to the dressing room. 

You and the boys make your way into the dressing room and you find some flowers on the table. You pick up the card and read “Heard you did a great job. Congrats -Tyler” You quickly pick the flowers out and throw them in the trash, right as the boy walked in, they all looked at you confused. 

“They’re from Tyler,” You say nonchalantly. Everyone but Luke looked at you confused. The rest of the boys left, but Luke stayed behind to help you pack up. 

“Thanks for the bracelet. It really helped,” You say starting to take it off.

“Keep it,” Luke says stopping you from pulling it off completely. He then goes to puck your guitar case up and the two of you head to your car. You pack your car up, drop Luke off, and head to your apartment. 

~The next morning~

You wake up to hear a knock at your door. You get up and look in the peephole to find Tyler standing there.

“Hey sweetheart,” Tyler says. “What?” He asks noticing the pissed look you had plastered on your face.

“You missed the biggest night of my life. You’re lucky that a lot of labels are interested in me,” You say monotone.

“Sorry, I just couldn’t--” He starts.

“No. I sick and tired you not supporting me,” You say.

“I’ve been to your gigs,” He says.

“You’ve been to three of the 10 of my gigs. I’ve been to all of yours,” You protest.

“Ok. I’m sorry, how can I make it up to you,” Tyler says trying to step into your apartment, but you stop him.

“I think you’re letting your fame get to your head. And if you can’t support me and be there for me while dealing with your growing fame at the same time. I don’t want to be with you,” You say sternly. 

“Babe,” Tyler says.

“Look. I just landed some of the best offers I could get in life and I can’t have your lack of presence distracting me. So, I’m not really sorry. But we’re done,” You say before shutting the door in Tyler’s face. You didn’t know what to do with yourself after that but you did feel like a big weight lifted from your chest.

A few minutes later someone knocked on your door, “Tyler I told---Oh. Luke,” You say realizing it was someone completely different.

“Hey,” Luke says.

“Hey,” You say quietly while letting him inside.

“You look like you had an eventful morning,” Luke points out.

“You could say that. I...uh, just broke up with Tyler,” You say.

“Really?” Luke questions as you notice his eyes light up and you nod. 

The next thing you know you feel Luke’s hands cup your face and his lips against your own. He quickly pulls away, “ Sorry….I shouldn’t have done that,” Luke says quietly.

“It’s ok. Can I be honest for a second?” You ask.

“Always,” He says.

“I’ve always known you liked me. Don’t rat him out but Alex told me like a year ago,” You say.

“And I’m guessin…” Luke says rubbing the back of his head.

“That you are my best friend and I couldn’t ask for a better guy in my life,” You say before kissing him again.

“So I take it the break up really wasn’t that bad,” Luke says after pulling away.

“Better now that you’re here,” You chuckle. Luke gives you a big smile as you return the same.

4. Are there any writers that inspire you?

So I haven't had much brain to sit and read in a very, very long time; any writers I list are from Back Before Internet 2.0 And Adulting Ate My Life. Tolkien and Vonnegut always go on this list. There is also Stephen R. Lawhead who wrote an amazing series about the King Arthur legends called The Pendragon Cycle and also a fantasy trilogy called The Dragon King Saga. I tend to follow books and fics rather than writers so that's about it. Sad answer, I know.

5. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?

Oh no I am the proud parent, I love all my children (except for everyone stuck in a locked collection because I am always torn between reasons for deleting and reasons for preserving). But when it comes down to it... I have to say it's The Suns because 1) I plotted a whole ass story and finished it, 2) I actually illustrated that sucker, and 3) I finished it. My biggest fear is writing a story that either collapses because the plot can't support it or never finishes because I burned out/was lured away by shiny. Is it the best fic? I'm not sure. But damn, I did that. I looked at my past self's failures and said, "Not today, Satan," and wrote a 1st draft, a 2nd draft, and illustrated every chapter of it.

And I want to do it again? JFC.

6. What element of writing do you find comes easily?

I love writing banter. I love writing characters bouncing off each other. Sometimes the sparks fly and they just speak to each other so easily and comfortably, and then I have to stop because it hurts just how easily they converse. Yeah, dinluke, I'm looking at you.

Also, I love plotting. I love wrangling all these threads and turning them into a cohesive whole. The hard part is actually writing the damn fucking thing.

12. Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about.

It's the little things, like a rando thought popping into my head after writing a whole scene about Luke telling Din about Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru and returning to the Lars homestead for the first time in years. What happens if Din does go back to Aq Vetina, and how do I make it worse?

And how do I make it about Din coming to terms with what it means to be a Mandalorian while Mandalore awaits, oh and also the New Republic is on the verge of war with a certain Chiss admiral...? The scale is stupid big which is why the only person we follow is Din Djarin, the extremely relatable Tired Adult with Main Character Syndrome. The plot comes in five parts and I wrote 2 parts for NaNo, and now I have to get off my ass, finish wrangling the rest of the plot, and get to writing how this Din's story ends.

35. Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!

I have two dinluke plots burning holes in my gdocs. One is a Mummy AU because every fandom deserves at least 1 Mummy AU. Hell, I wrote one for Dragon Age and it's one of the best things I ever wrote.

It's simple. The Clone Wars happened but Not Like That, and Ani disappeared during a secret mission to discover a secret weapon to give the Republic the edge, except the Republic won anyway so whoopsie. Luke and Leia grow up knowing nothing about their father's fate so they decide to find out and their research and prying into records and pestering people who worked with their father eventually leads them (and their pilot/Leia's beau Han Solo and his bff Chewie) to Nevarro because it's the rumored resting place of the thing their father was looking for, a supposed living superweapon that fuels itself by eating the Force. Problem is, a Mandalorian sect called the Death Watch is guarding that resting place. It's his final test to prove... something or another, and boy does he fail hard. This idea also proposes Ben Kenobi survives and starts teaching Leia the ways of the Force, so we're running the fuck off with all these "What if?" premises. This one's the least likely to actually get written but hey it's fun to daydream about.

At the beginning of S19 you could tell they were using the same formula as Greys for example but not only; the voice over style changing according to which character was the protagonist of the episode or at least who had the most challenging “storyline” and psychological impact in the story, the main lead was clearly Andy with her supporting BFF, with their own struggles and friendships, backstory, and they way the story developed, inserting personal “quest” into the daily firefighter “case”, it was simple writing but it was fluid, it worked.

Now if you ask anybody to point to which is the main lead of the show I think many ppl wouldn’t be able to, and if you think in terms of storyline who has the most predominant one, it’s Sullivan, so we could almost say he’s the main lead of a show and that’s crazy!

It’s like if after 4 season of Greys the main lead would have become Alex Karev, lol no thank you!

The other characters have sideline stories that maybe take center in 1 episode and then it’s like everything is forgotten and the writers are like: “wait we forgot about them” and they go an add a random scene that make zero sense especially for Carina & Tremmet, their stories are so disconnected and we kinda have to guess wtf is going on, the on screen scenes they give us do not helps to fill the gaps on what happens not on screen.

We only see glimpses of the old characters and friendships, whatever the problem is the budget or bts drama, writers of this level should be able to create a more compelling and organic story, alas they can’t.

Of course we all would want to see different things, and to just say “the writing sucks,this would be better” it’s a be simplistic and not fair, I get it, but when everyone can see the problems, it’s beyond repair imo.

In this case I would say 50% of the problems are writings choices, 15% acting choices especially Grey and every scene he’s in, I notice in the scene with Jaina he’s not so flamboyant, I think it may be a involuntary change of acting when he’s around actresses of the level of Stefania, Barrett and Danielle, that are very physical in terms of acting emotions. I’m using the wrong wording here but it’s like he’s trying to compensate his lack of acting talent by emulating their emotional and physical acting style, without success, so by all means, let him act around Janina cause somehow it works better for him and I always though they kinda match each other and they had good chemistry!!The rest I would say is 20% budget cut and 15% bts drama.

Certain things you cannot fix in writing, I get it, but this is ridiculous, I’m at a point I almost have to force myself to watch S19 especially when it’s about certain characters.

Anyway I’m not saying that I could write or do any better, especially not knowing all the facts, but JFC they really lowering the bar with each episodes here…

I get what you're saying and it's definitely true! Though I just have to say I love and miss Alex Karev lol I think I'd rather him be the main than Meredith at this point :P

But yeah, I think everyone has noticed that once Season 3 started and Krista took over and things shifted more towards an ensemble instead of Andy being a lead, the whole way of story telling and everything changed. But I think some of it was for the better and had potential to be better but like you said they don't really execute it properly and they seem to focus on one person at a time and then a lot of times people are just in the background and forgotten about.

It does feel like Sullivan is the main of the show right now which is...ew. But that's probably also because Andy is at another station at the moment. But it also felt like in Season 3, Maya took priority with her being captain and then her whole dad abusive storyline and then in Season 4...I don't really know if there was a specific main? I felt like it was balanced for the most part, which was weird because considering it was a covid season, it just seemed way more thought out and done better than this season is. So I guess they seem to be taking turns in a way on who they give the focus too...which I guess is how it would be in an ensemble but they can't just be forgetting about characters & storylines along the way.

They aren't good at the whole balance thing, they've been able to do it like in a few episodes every now and then, but that's it. So then it makes it hard for all the episodes to connect together and it's almost like they're all stand alone episode especially when they each end up focusing on different things instead of continuing along with a storyline so it's just a mess. And yes, some actors do work better with others and it's pretty obvious this season more than in previous seasons. I agree about Jaina & Grey for sure while others can pretty much make it work with anyone (Danielle, Stefania, Boris, Barrett, even Jay)

1. Thermodynamic Equilibrium: Ah this is my longest single chapter fic. I remember writing it in a mad dash of like 4 days because I was so enamored with the idea of Jaskier leading Geralt to the spring of nice things and tricking him to drink. Geralt cuddling Jaskier to his chest night after night because the mutations mean his body struggles to maintain temperature and jaskier keeps him warm. Jaskier feeding him up and taking care of him. Geralt taking care of Jaskier in his own quiet way in return.

Out of all of my fics I think its the one i’ve reread the most. Drunk Jaskier insisting Geralt help him eat his birthday cake and climbing into his lap so he can better brush his hair. The gentleness of this fic sticks with me and I’m always so glad that it touched so many other people as well.

2. Shapes of Us: This fic is my longest fic I completed this year and it’s all thanks to Spielzeugkaiser (And the Legion of folks who commented- I love you) who drew the art that started it all. And then kept drawing art making me write more and more. Gods I still want to write more but I know it’ll be another 30k if I let myself start.

Normally I prefer Jaskier to be human but it felt like this fic managed to capture and reflect that yearning that Geralt and Jaskier have to be human. Ask what makes us human? Being loved and seen and cherished. Also looking up animal facts for this fic was fun.

Favorite part, chapter 5: Two otters holding hands while they sleep so they don’t drift apart. (But the otters are Geralt and Jaskier)

3. Only Yours: I’m really proud of this series. Gotta love Monogamy kink Jaskier. He wants so badly to be someone’s most important person. I’m only yours. You are only mine. I have a soft spot for poly fics too but Monogamy with these boys? Ah the tenderness. The dedication. The love. Also I got to write quietly insecure Jaskier and that’s my favorite. Plus I think it was hot.

4. The Ballad of John Watson: Put this up there with Fics I never thought I’d write. (which was - to be fair- all of them. Never thought I’d be a fic writer. Thanks 2020?) But Enola Holmes was really good and there’s just so many parallels between Geralt and Jaskier and Sherlock and John. The story teller and their writer best friend that makes them famous. Love and Dedication across decades. Both Sherlock and Geralt dying only to be brought back for meta reasons years later. And obviously Henry Cavil. 

Jaskier as John Watson. Fell into a new world and made a life there with Sherlock Holmes. I just think there’s something beautiful about loving after loss. About finding happiness once again. Also Ciri and Enola should be bff’s. I’m right and I know it.

5. Love is the Thing with Feathers: Honestly there’s a bunch of fics I wrote for rare pairs (Like this Lambert/Aiden fic or this Dandelion/Whoreson Sr. fic) or smaller/older fandoms and I Love all of them a lot. (Seriously this post took me almost two weeks cause I couldn’t decide what to put in 5th.) Mission Complete was the first fic I wrote for Spy x Family and I’m really proud of how I caught Loid’s voice and also that it connected me to the discord full of lovely people! But I’ll stop plugging other fics-

Love is the Thing With Feathers never really took off (heh) but the idea of Alec Lightwood’s biggest strength being his heart and how much he feels- How fiercely and completely he loves being his most powerful weapon is just. I hate how she manipulates Elliott into claiming Kurt kicked her out when it was her own damn choice, and disowns Kurt when he didn't automatically take her side by playing referee for her outlandish claims against Santana. I hate "my best gay", it isn't cute, it isn't quirky, it's stupid and Kurt Hummel does deserve a better best friend who doesn't just use him to hoist themselves up. I'm glad Colfer called it the fuck out in his episode, even if it was magically fine at the end again just because she showed up to his Peter Pan show - shocker. I hate how she destroyed him being the actual student president by cheating, but that's fine because she owns up to it I guess? Like they still had to claim the cheerleader the winner who did nothing all year, when they could've had Kurt who would actually have done something good, but aT LeAsT sHe WaS HoNeSt right?????? I mean she is the one who also decided to run against him for a hot minute too, but SHE DROPPED OUT GUISE. BFF'S. It would've been so much better if they both went to New York, and then agreed to be roommates because it would be cheaper and we see them expand into actual friendship from there. Kurt doesn't need to stay relevant as a character just by being Rachel's best friend on the fact they both are into Broadway. THAT is the stereotype. Because remember, he's gay and she has two gay dads, so meant to be in each other's lives. Also ew having Rachel as a surrogate, what the fuck. No. Keep that controlling person away from any child of Kurt and Blaine's, that'll just cause more problems.

Mercedes: Maybe it's Colfer and Riley's friendship chemistry showing on screen, but I love and will forever love this friendship. I love that Kurt can admit he's wrong with her! ON HIS OWN! No sob story, no passive aggressiveness, no call out. Him realizing encouraging her to lose the weight was wrong? Growth. No, it isn't a perfect friendship, but it didn't start out of no where either. Kurt being dumb with trying to set her up with dates so he didn't feel bad in befriending Blaine. Mercedes letting her religious blinders encourage Kurt to go to church with her - but at least she approaches this conversation honestly, she doesn't sugar coat it from her point of view, which is good. They're both honest with one another. They're in each other's corners. Kurt Hummel heart eyeing every time she performs is the best. And it's dumb that it got pushed to the back for season 3 and onward. It should've grown from high schooler kids to young adults like a fine wine, instead of getting overlooked. There was potential of Mercedes being the surrogate, or even just another egg donor! But you know, some people needed to be zeroed in on and characters had to be tied to that characters hip, and Mercedes wasn't it.

Santana: Can you imagine how great (or terrible) this could've been if Kurt remained on the Cheerios? We can dream! But what we got in S4&S5 was great. Nice bantering, a mutual respect and understanding becoming a thing over time. They made pacts! They swore to each other about things off screen! She and him would've made a dangerous duo in New York if Rachel never moved back into the loft. She could've encouraged him to loosen up more, he would've helped her unlock a more vulnerable side of emotions when it came to catching feelings! Would've loved to see them bonding more like they did with the boyfriend arms watching TV! We were robbed, and s6 destroyed it all together, so. I wish we could've seen them on double dates, with Dani and Blaine. I wish we could've seen her trying to hook him up with guys in season 4! But no, two Slytherin's teaming up is too dangerous I guess. Fuck you glee.

Brittany: In the first season, it's nice to see that Brittany was the popular girl but still showing up to Kurt's house and dancing with him. It's because of her he joins the football team, briefly, and we get to see him kick ass at it and make a win for the Titans for the first time in however long! That's a big deal. I'm glad that she also approaches him in his "straight" phase and offers to help. And I'm glad she encourages Santana to go support Kurt during Prom Queen. BUT ANYTHING AFTER THAT, is null and void. Because she suddenly becomes this overly stupid child who only wants things done her way. When she offers to help him with his running for class president, she only focuses on him being gay and that's it - because it makes him a unicorn? It's a homophobic school, you really think shoving it in the bullies faces won't get him laughed out of a win? And he ditches the idea last minute anyway, so why bother going with that twist anyway? And when he gives her the rundown on what he wants to do, she ignores him and does it her way. When he gets mad, all of a sudden it's poor Brittany, she was just trying to help, Kurt's a meanie face. And when he (stupidly) accepts her idea for the campaign posters, she's like "oh by the way, I'm running against you now sorry I didn't tell you lol". And the bullshit of season 6 of her telling him that he needs to get over Blaine, then magically wants them to be in her and Santana's wedding? No. Keep her as far away from Kurt as possible after season 2.

Tina: Remember when Kurt fake dates her first? Wouldn't that have been an interesting play throughout that episode? Seeing Burt ask about Tina, Kurt bringing Tina over for dinner, Kurt and Tina discussing this new beard-ship for his dad, and then when he comes out, she would've been so happy for him? WE WERE ROBBED, YET AGAIN. We see them being friends throughout the seasons, but there isn't any growth with it. We don't really see her and Kurt doing things outside of school again. We see her help him for his NYADA audition as Christine (which he replaces her for Rachel, big shock, fuck you). We see him defending her against the jock bullies in the hallway. We see them walking to glee club together. But there's still nothing expanded on so it just falls flat. Clearly she and Kurt talk still after he graduates, as they both enjoy gossip. But what else?! We don't know! It had potential for friendship outside of school and outside of just gossiping! But alas.

1. Okay SO an AU where somehow, some way Suigetsu and Sasuke grow up together and Sui is like Sasuke’s Naruto, ONLY BETTER (because I sometimes think Suigetsu actually matches up with Sasuke a little better thatn Naruto). They’re BFFs, and Sasuke is actually happy growing up (I hope anyway). BUT ALSO maybe Sasuke is still broody and wants revenge, and Suigetsu just goes with him. He’s lowkey itching for the fight anyway, but also he doesn’t want his best friend to be alone, and most importantly he doesn’t want Sasuke to bear that burden alone. So basically childhood friendship that Sasuke doesn’t reject or struggle to inveset back into.

2. After Team Taka splits up, Suigetsu and Sasuke decide to stay together. They accompany each other in their respective travels. Sui follows Sasuke to whatever corners of the world Sasuke wants/needs to go to, and then Sasuke in turn helps Sui find all of the swords he wants. When Sui finally has his swords and becomes leader of the Seven Swordsman group, Sasuke is his first initiate. Together, they rebuild the group with worthy members, and they live out the rest of their days keeping the peace. Sasuke lets Sui scratch his (let’s call it what it is) murder itch by letting him kill whoever he wants when they’re fighting people who’ve committed heinous crimes. But when it comes to petty squabbles, Sui isn’t allowed to kill people, so he just doesn’t even get involved. So Sasuke ends up being the guy who shows up to lead things when the group is called for stuff Sui doesn’t wanna handle, but when Sui is super into it then Sasuke takes a back seat and let’s Sui have the spotlight. It works. They’re happy that way forever.

3. Sasuke starts his own nation of outsiders, for people who don’t fit the shinobi system. Suigetsu is his first citizen. Together, they build the nation up, and people from all over the world end up flocking to them when they just don’t belong anywhere else. They form a huge band of misfits, and they’re largely nonviolent and just keep to themselves. The whole point is for Sasuke to build a new family for people who don’t belong, including himself, so they don’t get involved in squabbles of other nations. BUT TENSION: maybe they’re forced to get involved in someting??? CONFLICT. DRAMA. FIGHTING. Idk lmao I’m just here for the idea of Sasuke starting his own nation and Sui being his #1 supporter XD

Seon-ho/Hwi

Do I ship it? Yes!

What made you ship it? I maybe started with that first fight scene with the ppl signing ppl up for the military exam. Fight duo ships are good! It's not always their dynamic but it was a good place to start.

What are your favorite things about the ship? Sometimes two guys are enemies and have opposing goals but also would be willing to risk their lives for each other and ruin their own plans and I think that’s beautiful. Just, the tension of all the times Seon-ho and Hwi go against each other while you know, you know that it’s tearing them up. They have their own convictions and important goals and deliberately don’t put each other as the most important thing in their lives--except that at the end of the day, they still care about each other so much that they end up dying in each other’s arms and are honestly okay with that. Also they just have good chemistry, what can I say.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? Idk I think fandom consensus for MCTNA is pretty similar to my thoughts. Uhh it would be less spicy if Seon-ho and Hwi didn’t betray each other all the time so I think their lack of communication and general assholery is a Good Thing Actually, in that it caters to my tastes. I would be more frustrated if the show portrayed their relationship as a rivalry (whether in terms of martial skill or in romance or whatever) bc then the conflict would feel kind of petty. As-is, they both have good reasons for the way they act. Well. “Good” reasons...

Seon-ho/Bang-won

Do I ship it? But of course!

What made you ship it? I really liked both actors and thought they acted well together. Their first meeting is fun, too, the snarking back and forth and then the dead horse. (...usually a dead horse would turn me off a ship. idk why that isn't the case here.)

What are your favorite things about the ship? They have similar tragic backstories (well, more like tragic presents as their parental issues and murdering and Hwi issues are ongoing). They’re nemeses but it’s very unequal--you get the sense that Seon-ho sees Bang-won as his biggest threat, while Bang-won definitely has more to fear from Nam Jeon. (To be fair, Seon-ho’s biggest enemy is also Nam Jeon, but that’s different. What I mean is, he certainly opposes Bang-won, not Seung-gye.) Bang-won even sort of pities Seon-ho. That scene where he almost kills Seon-ho while saying Seon-ho can rest now is very good bc it shows both sides of the attitude--it’s merciless mercy. Also, the two opposing sides of a love triangle are always a good dynamic, and what are Seon-ho and Bang-won if not that?

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? Is this ship common enough that I can have an unpopular opinion? Do ppl have opinions on it? Umm how about: Bang-won respects Seon-ho more than Seon-ho respects Bang-won, despite what I said above about him pitying him. Seon-ho barely sees Bang-won as human and despises his politics; Bang-won sees Seon-ho as a threat but does in fact also see him as human. (There are a lot of ppl who Seon-ho doesn’t really see as ppl, more as the show goes on, and that’s largely bc of his need to constantly be on the offensive and his weird class position. People who are higher class than him or theoretically his equals are a threat; people of a lower class he has to act better than if he wants to maintain his dignity as a noble. His father has specifically trained him to be ruthless not to connect with anyone, and the lack of connection leads him to a position where he has a decent sense of theoretical morality--equality, loyalty, etc--but little compassion, and even that theoretical morality he often fails to put into practice. Seon-ho/Sung-rok

Do I ship it? Yeah!

What made you ship it? Burning buildings... Also Sung-rok attacking Hwi out of what seemed to be mostly jealousy after the second timeskip lols. I was like "Sung-rok, are you having feelings??"

What are your favorite things about the ship? Two people who originally were so snappish towards each other and almost killed each other because partners, friends.... one might even say ~coworkers~.... lols but Seon-ho actually trusts Sung-rok and the two are a rare duo in MCTNA that, once they agree to work together, never fight against each other again. And you get the sense that for a long time, Sung-rok is Seon-ho’s only real support in a world where there’s no one he can trust. You may say, “okay but that’s all on Seon-ho’s side. what is Sung-rok getting out of this?”, and honestly all I can tell you is that if I could hang out being BFFs with a murderous Woo Do-hwan, trying to help him advance a doomed political agenda, I would do so as well. Anyways Sung-rok’s death fucked me up. I’m never okay.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? Not really tbh. I’d have to think about it.

you toyed with the loose string on hwa’s sweater as you laid on the couch in the ateez dorm room. yunho was resting silently on your legs as you stared at the TV screen. your best friend and unrequited love seonghwa was out late again... you knew exactly where he was or rather who he was with: rina. she was the pretty new stylist and seonghwa had quickly taken a liking to her. but who could blame him? she was the classic korean beauty, she looked like she could jump onstage right alongside Twice. maybe thats why you weren't worried at first. seonghwa sees beautiful girls like this everyday, he wouldn’t be phased by another one, right? obviously, you were mistaken. the two apparently hit it off and began spending a lot of time together. and that meant a lot less time for you.

you were tore away from the movie yunho put on by the sound of the door opening. In walked a buzzed seonghwa. He stumbled slightly before crashing next to you on the couch. he smelled of alcohol, cigarettes, and... perfume. rina’s perfume.

“y/n-ah, why are you here this late?” he giggled out. you open your mouth to speak but yunho beats you to it,

“its thursday, hyung. you and y/n always hang out on thursday. i am guessing you forgot... again.” yunho scoffed as he sat up. seonghwa shoot you a remorseful look. you knew what came next. the same thing that always came after hwa realized that he fucked up: the excuses. 

“omg y/n, i’m so sorry. i went out to pick up stuff for our movie night and i ran into rina and i lost track of time. i promise i-” 

“dont say it, hyung. stop making promises you cant keep. come on y/n. i’ll take you home. its pretty late.”  yunho grabbed your wrist and pulled you towards the door. will seonghwa would call out your name and be the k-drama lead he so closely resembled? 

“y/n!” he yells. is this it? your moment with your main lead. “can you leave that sweater?” guess not. you calmly peeled off the sweater and threw it at him. you shivered at the lack warmth, the thin tank top you wore not helping. yunho rolled his eyes as he took you to the car. the ride home was silent until you pulled up to your building.

“he is a dick. dont let him mess with you like that.”

“he wasnt like this before. you know that.” you sighed reminscing about before rina entered the picture. back when hwa would spent every thursday with you or when he would smell of you and not her or when he wouldnt ask for his clothes back at the end of the night.

“well no matter what he is. i hope you are still coming to mnet tomorrow. if not for him, then for the rest of us?” yunho looked at you with the biggest puppy dog eyes you have seen.

“okay, i’ll be there. i promise.” 

the next day went quicker than you wanted it to. mnet meant that you would have to watch those two gush over each other. still, you made a promise and unlike hwa, you were gonna keep it. so, you got dressed and headed on the train.

you were greeted by a chorus of screams when you entered the dressing room. one by one, the boys squeezed you tightly while trying to keep their makeup intact. well the boys minus seonghwa who was nowhere to be seen. you looked around but were meet with darting glances because all the boys knew who you were looking for.

“he is with her, isnt he?” you spit out. the boys just mumbled and nodded while avoiding your eyes. “well, i came to support ateez, not just hwa.” you force yourself to chuckle as you wrapped your arm around san’s shoulder. a chorus of ‘ohs’ and ‘thats our y/n’ fill the room at your statement. the next few minutes are filled with the usual backstage antics, including you dodging the camera while the boys recorded stuff. all of the antics drew to a halt at the sounds of the door closing. you watch as all the boys turn their heads and you hesitate to follow them. what you saw shattered your heart into 3 million pieces.

there stood seonghwa with red lip tint ghosting his lips and neck and next to him was rina wearing the same stupid sweater that hwa made you take off. 

“hey hwa! hey rina!”  you plaster on a smile before quickly turning to the boys. “im gonna head to restroom now so i dont miss the performance” and with that you rush out the door. you hear steps following close behind you. maybe its hwa, maybe he is here to tell you that it was a bad scheme to make you jealous. the idea gives you the hope to stop and turn around. 

“yunho, why’d you follow me?” 

“i wanted to make sure you were okay.” you stare at his shoes as a few tears begin to pool in your eyes. “you know it’s just a sweater, right? its just a cheap piece of polyester.” he speaks while wiping the tears that are now falling rapidly. you bring your eyes to meet his. 

“i know that. i just wish i was the one in it.”
