there's an episode where they claim russia wasn't involved in the 2015 us election and where they imply that believing that is stupid, as if there isn't evidence that proves it to be true

they seem intent on pretending every issue is only about class and sex and seem to believe that addressing other axes is anti-feminist and only serves to dilute the conversation

maybe they really have a shift in the later episodes, but the holier-than-thou, "we are the arbiters of feminism and only we are right on everything" vibe is really way too much to take and a horrible intro for anyone getting into radical feminism (or any leftist feminism)

There's a wip I keep going back to that I have a love/hate relationship with. The scenes and the lines and the descriptions are some of the best I think I've ever written. But the premise is iffy at best. We'll see. If I can get a solid enough plot and if Buck gives me an explanation for what the hell he does in that fic, I might finish it.

What are your writing strengths?

Hmmm... I've been told a lot of my fics feel like episodes and the characters' voices are pretty good. So I guess the pacing of my fics? (Which shocks me because I really suck at pacing my original works).

What are your writing weaknesses?

Description. I just don't do the long and beautiful descriptions or the super detailed whump scenes very well. It takes practice, but it seems to be a talent I just don't have.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I like it, but I don't do it very much. I don't want people to tell me I'm an idiot for getting something wrong.

Thinking more about the characters as remnants of despair, and how deadly each of them would be if you encountered them... More info about each under the cut.

Deuz is a member of a powerful gang, Fox is almost 2 meters tall and jacked, and Owynn is Owynn. Their danger levels are self explanatory.

Springtrap's main danger is not even himself, but his gadgets and robots. If you get in his radius, you'll get blasted into bits in seconds. Not very survivable.

Cami will most often not actually kill you, but she'll brainwash you into being a pawn for the Ultimate Despair, which is effectively like dying and will likely result in death soon after.

Usagi, despite her brainwashing, still maintains some of her sportsmanship. If you actually attempt to fight her, she'll beat the shit out of you, but she'll let you live on account of your bravery. Your chances of survival with a broken arm and a concussion are very low, but hey, it's something ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯.

Meg is dangerous because of her poison, which means she's only ever deathly if she catches her prey with their guard down. In hand to hand combat, you'd probably win, so she leaves at the first sign of a physical fight (and calls her brother, so you better start running.)

Towntrap still cares a lot about animals, and you can weaponize that into making him let you go by threatening one of them. If you actually do injure one of his animals severely, though, you're toast.

Both Chica and Bon are better than Meg at fighting, but less deathly overall due to not having a way to kill people indirectly like her poison. Whether you could defeat them or not will depend on the person, but it's definitely doable.

Loon tends to focus on big level stunts for the Ultimate Despair, and thus doesn't tend to waste time hunting random people on the streets. Just don't bring too much attention to yourself or make too much noise.

Eak's function is, primarily, to be Owynn's bodyguard- and so, he usually only kills people who might pose a danger to Owynn, which means that running away is an effective strategy with him and he'll just let you go. However, Owynn does occasionally order him to kill civilians for fun, so if that happens... Well, sucks to be you.

Golden isn't very dangerous by himself: the real danger with him is his brainwashed army. In instances where most of his army is busy and he only has one or two for protection, he's not going to waste time making them hunt down someone random. If his whole army is currently with him, though, he'll definitely send a few men to kill any people roaming around. Again, sucks to be you.

Joy spent most of the tragedy using her platform to spread propaganda, and didn't directly kill anyone (except for her family) until towards the end. So, in her case, the danger level depends on at what time you find yourself with her.

Fred was just enjoying his freedom. He occasionally made chaos when Owynn called, but 80% of the time he was off doing side quests.

Bonnie's main purpose during the tragedy was hacking. It inadvertently led to a lot of deaths and suicides, since he used his abilities to get government secrets and spread despair online, but if you found him on the street the best he could do was call some other remnant to deal with you while he runs away.

Toddy... Is a fashionista. She used her platform to spread despair, but I don't think you can kill people with clothes. She probably has a gun on her, for protection, but she's not one to spend her time running around and getting herself covered in blood.

Like, has no self preservation and generally sucks at taking care of themselves kinda idiot. I have no interest in high school AUs anymore partially because I'm not in high school I know now it sucked but mostly because SwS Link is a college student. He just graduated. He has debt. Every time he thinks he paid it off there's some other bullshit he's got to do. A lot of people is upset because of the finale and I get it, I kinda am too. But they just didn't have enough time to explore some major and minor parts of the story, like Hooty's origin so it just became like a hint at the finale, and the first part of Thanks to Them. We saw snippets, a few seconds clips of what could have been episodes. There are many ideas for building the story but they can't put all those up in their given time for season 3. The cancellation cancelled (obviously) some plans and ideas, creating plotholes (the bat queen, jean luc, titan's language, caleb and evelyn, caleb and phillip, hooty's origin but the finale kinda explained that?, the portal door, the titans, the archivists/collector, the owl beast, and probably few more).

It is kinda upsetting what Belos' fate is, but he deserved it lol. Like Dana said, sometimes you just cannot redeem a person idk the exact word but something like that. Maybe there could have been an alternate idea for Belos' fate but like I said, no time. It is rushed or maybe not but there's a change of plans. Maybe it is not how it was supposed to end or something like that.

17. Talk about your writing and editing process

Writing ... that's not a process that's chaos. No really, if I feel inspired I just write and then see if it's fine or I just wasted all that time on something that goes to bin. Luckily I'm usually able to salvage most of it so there's not like 50 attempts before the final chapter is ready. If I don't feel inspired I just stare at the screen ... It's probably not helping that I'm writing late at night cuz that's the best way to ensure my brother is not peeking over my shoulder. He keeps asking what the story is about and given the nature of my writing I think it's clear why I don't want to have that conversation with a 11 yo lol. I can't even lie anymore since he already knows some basic English from school!

Editing huh ... One word - @bleue-flora. Since Flora agreed to be my beta (and editor and unpaid therapist) she is doing most editing. I really feel ashamed of myself when I see some of the errors I make 😓 the thing is I know what's written there so sometimes my brain just fills in the gaps and I fail to see some basic misspellings ... I mean early chapters of monsters speak for themselves and masks though better thanks to Flora aren't perfect either.

Before Flora I pretty much just read over the chapter a few times and prayed. In the past I tried to use Google translate but it sucked so I'm not doing it anymore. I tried chat GPT too but it changed the majority of the chapter for some reason so that too was abandoned. In general I guess I just write it, read it over 1-2 times, send it to Flora, regret not reading it over for the 3rd time and then I do one last read over before posting.

19. the most interesting topic you've researched for a fic

Sooo I have to confess, I'm not doing as much research as I probably should cuz when I get into something I can get carried away and google useless facts instead of being productive. That said I did some research here and there. The first thing that comes to mind is certainly torture methods lol but that is something I engaged in long before I wrote my first fic so it's hardly a research for fic right? And so, I gotta go with the research I did on abusive relationships and how they work and whether aggression towards other people can be a coping mechanism to past abuse. It's not hard to guess which fic that one was for lol. I'm not sure if I'm doing a good job with it but I wanted to see if Q's motivation in Smiling masks is at least a little bit realistic ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

one time, before i had a phone (this will be relevant later) i played basketball on this one team that wasn't quite a team but it helped get more practice in after the season was over. we played a few games against a local catholic school. at the time, i had a fairly short haircut (was just beginning my lgbt journey) and i was one of the older ""girls"" on my team. playing one of the games, i saw this one girl on the other team who i could instantly clock as. y'know. 🏳️‍🌈. since she also seemed to be one of the older on her team, i decided to guard her. (also cuz i thought she seemed cool.) she definitely was one of the best players on her team, but i was able to defend her pretty well most of the time. anyways my team won, and after the game the ref came up to us specifically (me and girl i guarded) and told us that we did an exceptional job both at the game and w sportsmanship. after that and ref walks away, she turns to me and says smth like. "hey btw i think you're really attractive and good at basketball, do you think i could have your number." i did not have a phone at the time, but i somehow. interpreted that as. a completely platonic gesture. like "oh wow this cool girl wants to be friends with me!! sucks i dont have a phone :((" so i tell her such and. never see her again but later find out from a friend who had a friend who knew her that. alex no you dumbass she was flirting with you

Antis are their own worst enemies because they could be Normal and mind their own business and not even think about it and just block and move on with their lives. But I have heard that in a server that has a lot of antis in it, they were obsessively hate reading fics and lamenting how good they were and stuff LOL like, please. Just admit to yourself that two fictional train men from a fictional New York City can kiss and its okay! You don't have to like it, please make hating it less of your personality.

And hey, good for you! They don't deserve your content if they're gonna be insane about this. Telling real living human people that they should die for liking a fictional ship is a Terrible look and there are consequences!

I'm such an adaptation apologist normally. Movies aren't books and that means taking everything with a large grain of salt because medium changes are everything. Needless to say I'm lenient in a way a lot arent. Hell, some of my favorite movies are based on my favorite books and those movies tend to be pretty universally hated (or met with just resounding apathy) I don't think I've ever really had a book to movie or show adaptation I've disliked strongly - until now. And it sucks cause it's pretty beloved by everyone else save a few ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯ so it's everywhere now.

I'm so sick of feeling like this.

Just need to rant for a moment because I am so frustrated with myself.

A couple years back, I started having a constant pain in my knee. I went to the doc and he recommended physical therapy. My PT discovered my hips were really misaligned. Like how the fuck are you walking misaligned. She set them back into place (which hurt like a bitch) but then a back pain set in and whenever I walked more than like, a hundred yards, I'd get this sharp pain down the outside of my shin and into my foot (and now the pain in the foot is a constant. It's never not there anymore). But the pain in my leg would never happen during a PT session, so she couldn't figure out what to do for it. When did it actually do it during one? Ten minutes before my final appointment ended. I couldn't keep going bc my insurance wouldn't pay it. But while I was there, she had me see their spinal specialist. She had to reset my hips again, and gave me different exercises to do. Whenever I did them, a new pain would show up. It was frustrating as hell and we all kinda gave up after that. I didn't bother going back to the doc to try and get the insurance to give me more appointments because it wouldn't have done anything.

For the past two-ish years since then, I've been putting up with chronic pain in my back/hips and that stabbing pain in my lower leg. But it's fine, I can usually manage most days.

My family, more often than not, just tell me to push through when it gets really bad. I know they hurt too, they have their own issues, but it really sucks because it makes me feel like they don't believe I hurt as bad as I do.

Anyway. There's only been a few times the pain brought me to tears. It's usually that sharp pain in my leg that does it (pretty sure it's a pinched nerve pero... ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯. I stand still (or on a few memorable occasions fall over) and wait it out and then get about my business, cause what other option is there? Today though? Today was the worst I have felt in a long time.

I was cooking with my mom- something I love to do- but I've noticed lately I find it less and less enjoyable. For some stupid reason it took until today to figure out the pain is why. But anyway. My back really started to ache, but I pushed through. Mom was really hurting too (we think she and I have the same issue- whatever it is), so I just worked through it. I didn't want to leave her to finish all the work by herself. Things were fine, it was honestly a pretty average pain day. But I got up to do the dishes after we ate and a pain in the left side of my back had me sobbing. I couldn't- and still can't- stand upright. I had to have help to get to a chair. The back massager I use when it gets really bad only made it feel like pins and needles. I'm lying in bed afraid to move because the slightest wrong move will have me in tears again.

But the pain isn't what bothers me the most.

I feel useless. I'm so frustrated at the fact I don't know what's going on, let alone how to stop it. I don't know what makes it worse, what makes it better, nada. I have so little energy, some days I don't even want to leave my chair/ bed. I can't go back to the doc for it right now (which is a whole other issue in itself), so I'm left trying to figure out what the fuck is wrong with me. And coming up empty. I hate feeling like this. I hate bending over and constantly worrying if I'll be able to stand back up. I hate walking and having to stop just to let the pain subside. I hate this. I hate this, I hate this, I hate this.
