Growing up on the streets they did not celebrate holidays for many reasons. He hated them for a long time. but seeing the twins opening gifts on the in universe equivalent of christmas, lin, kya, and asami over for dinner while korra and bolin were away during the timeskip and seeing the twins so happy and opening gifts and stuff. He found he could enjoy the holiday again and even was looking forward to the next years dinner when the twins were older and bolin and korra were back.

RETROACTIVE PREFACE TO THIS BULLET POINT: I wrote this whole spiel about Appreciating The Ambiguity Of Nikolai and Alina’s Relationship, only for that to immediately dissolve a scene later, BUT WHATEVER, HERE WERE MY FEELINGS: I’m really pleased by how they’re doing Nikolai and Alina’s relationship this season. I love that the exact nature of their dynamic is sort of open to interpretation with what/if there are Feelings Feelings, but the trust and warmth and genuine friendship between them is still palpable. like, I have A LOT of feelings about these two and I’m in the “queerplatonic soulmate” camp with them, the “love has many forms and sometimes love is stronger if it’s not romantic” camp, but in a very adamant THAT ISN’T LESSER THAN IF I SHIPPED IT ROMANTICALLY way, like I am DEEPLY FEELINGS about them, because I think they see through each other and understand each other intrinsically. they’re both characters who have been given A Role To Play as a figurehead and I think that when they’re together that’s the one space where they can set those roles aside and find comfort with the only one who really understands the weight of Being A Figurehead (and I think too much emphasis on romantic pining would get in the way of allowing them that vulnerability with each other, and I like The Vulnerability Space more than I like Romance). I’ve never Queerplatonically Shipped something this passionately, but god I have feelings in my hEART about them!! and I like that canon sort of…. lets you go shippy if you want to go shippy, and it lets me go Queerplatonic Soulmate because I want to go Queerplatonic Soulmate

It’s important that Dominik represents the “every man” killed in the mud and bleeding in the snow, as so many have. That he was just one more death of many—on a regular day, in a regular war, not even particularly noteworthy except to the one person who cared about him—in an endless and ongoing war that treated the entire country as cannon fodder. if you’d allow me to take off my literary analysis hat for a moment, I will say I CANNOT BELIEVE I GOT A MINI-DOMINIKOLAI ARC ON MY ACTUAL TV SCREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Rory and Logan (27), Logan takes a sip of his coffee only a few seconds before pulling Rory into a corner to make out with her. A lot of people don't like coffee breath but he must have noticed how much she liked coffee and deliberately had some to pull her in more. there's a through line in the show about Laura rediscovering life after her husband leaves her, reconnecting with her kids, slowly realizing how much she doesn't miss about being married actually, and you can read it in a lot of ways but oh.

she literally ran off with a strange woman after knowing her a couple of days and seeing Rosemary roar and PUNCH a dude so hard he fell over. Laura was so giddy after watching that oh my godddddd

and by the way, rosemary isn't the step mom to Laura's kids she's the other mom who stepped up. The daughter realizes her dad was lying to her about why the marriage failed, reconnects with Laura, and then has Laura and Rosemary stay over at her place in one episode- with the three of them chilling out so cozily. In another episode one guy was about to shoot Laura's adult son, and Rosemary ran the guy down on a motor scooter....

So I've been watching this show called Rosemary & Thyme about two middle aged women who work as professional gardeners/solve crime and I swear. It's so early 2000s down to the ...whatever the f/f version of bromance is.

I mean they u-haul it from the jump! They know each other all of 48 hours (ish? Not sure) and decide to go into business together despite having just met.

There's a lot of exposition done in bedrooms that conveniently always have double beds like it's 1940 & we can't possibly show a couple in the same bed, it would /imply/ things.

There's an episode with a shitty homophobic cop who implies they're an item and both women get angry with him in turn but never actually deny anything.

Both women get hit on/asked out by different men (& it's kind of gratifying to see two women in their mid 50s still getting attention like that) but in the end, they always turn down the would-be suitor for a life of traveling around in an ancient Range Rover, digging up weeds with one another instead.

(also love that Pam Ferris who played the butchest butch to ever butch aka Miss Trunchbull is the femme in the relationship)

It's extremely silly and the plots aren't all that great but it's fun to watch a detective show that features two women who are obviously a couple.
