Some To Veer the Tides notes

Yes I know no one cares about this kinda shit but I worked hard on creating this fic and need to get this out of my system because it’s literally only in my brain and echoing in there and disrupting my life. This is just word vomit. If, for some reason, you actually got through all the currently 50k + words of my akafuri fic and want some more, here’s some notes-

Overarching themes:

1. Sun and Moon

When it comes to AkaFuri, I use a lot of comparisons to sun, the sunlight, and metaphors regarding the sun. It plays a huge role, at least in my fics, in defining their relationship. Akashi seems to be influenced by the sun a lot. In his manga introduction, he was standing right in front of it, the light hiding his face(as far as I remember), and it stayed in my mind. He’s unreachable, and even if you manage to get close you get burnt. It can be cruel and kind, and it colours the sky in so many different colours and the one I most often remember when thinking of Akashi is the setting sun when the sky is red but the sun is this blazing ball of orange. (something like this)

Furihata’s always been filtered sun rays, the ones that peek through clouds, coming down like rain through leaves of trees. He’s Komorebi. His aesthetic and presence are meant to be gentle in the manga and he looks it. He looks sorta wispy and soft, the most beautiful and gentle form of sunlight to me. But it’s not something too many people think about because you get caught up in the grand colours of the sun.

But they’re the one and the same. In the end they’re of the sun, from the sun.

In To Veer the Tides, a lot of the hard-hitting and emotional scenes happen based on the sun.

- Their first conversation was in the dead of the night which is neither of their domain. They haven’t met eye to eye it’s a dodgy interaction where both of them are hesitant. Their first kiss was in the night too. A kiss may seem like progress but it was the worst possible decision to have been made then.

- The time at the field was in full sunlight and it was the first time they met eye to eye.

- One thing I was giddy writing, was Furihata’s birthday. It starts at night, they aren’t meeting eye to eye, Furihata’s not having a good time and everything sucks. But as the night goes on and it gets close to sunlight, they slowly start to understand something with each other. Furihata was so averse to Akashi until the gift moment and suddenly he’s like. “Okay fuck what is happening I was planning on avoiding you forever.”

Was it annoying trying to line up events to time of days? Yes. Did I do it? Abso-fucking-lutely because I’m horny for symbolism in stories.

Now the MOON. In this fic, Nijimura is the moon. Sun and Moon parallels are the bread and butter of romantic analogies and the “we’re totally bros” (a no-homo cannot fix this) build-up in queerbaiting anime targeted at boys which are enjoyed better by people who aren’t cishet men.

Akashi and Nijimura are like that. One can’t live without the other, they depend on each other. They are seemingly different but of equal importance. I straight up said it in chapter one. In this fic, NijiAka are the soulmates. But the fic is called ‘To Veer the Tides” right? It’s about defying fate and what’s supposedly set in stone. It’s about Akashi learning that just because you are always winning doesn’t mean you can’t lose, and that just because you hit rock bottom doesn’t mean you can’t get back up.

Also, I do love the idea of two people being made for each other, fitting perfectly, but I love the idea of two people loving each other enough to say “fuck it!” to fate just to be together more.

Had the siege at Rakuzan not happened, NijiAka would’ve been satisfied and happy together, it would’ve been perfect. For Akashi and Furihata to be anything real, I feel like something radical would have to happen because, as we all know, it’s a crack pair.

(Even MayuAka falls into the Sun & Moon, Light & Shadow analogy. No hate to both ships, y’all actually have canon backing ;_; which is always fun.)

We as shippers and artists are what made it something legit. You could hypothetically ship Kawahara and Kagami but literally no one does and just the idea of it sounds a little ridiculous right? Well AkaFuri is like that for people who don’t get it. But then we made it into something plausible (and the cute art and fics dragged me in, man akafuri creators are convincing).

ANYWAYS- something stupid and impossible needs to happen for AkaFuri to have a chance- and where did our beloved ship originate? When the blessed Chihuahua-Lion thing happened and Akashi, THE AKASHI SEIJUUROU, miscalculated. Something that shouldn’t be happening, happened. And Akashi fell so hard. It was a ripple effect from Furihata standing up against Akashi, the making that basket, Seirin getting pumped up again, etc(I’m not saying “uwaaaah Furihata caused that” cuz he didn’t, Kuroko’s responsible for pushing Akashi to change but shipper brainrot dictates that I mention it).

So something like that needed to happen. Thus, Akashi fell.

2. Flowers

I started it for the aesthetics. Pretty boys in flowy clothes surrounded by flower symbolism. That’s how it began and then I accidentally put plot in it. It’s not as heavy as the Sun and Moon comparisons, but they do have a level of significance. Chrysanthemums are symbols of royalty and prestige in Japan, so obviously the Akashis get that. Camellias are for faithfulness. Zinnias, are for loyalty and perseverance. The flowers define the House, the state they’re in and the clans.

The biggest moment was with the Kiku and Niko story in chapter 12.

3. The concept of being truthful

The story, to one extent, is about how hypocritical and broken some of the land’s ideologies. If you look at it past the romance, it’s about how literally no one is sticking to the virtues of the land, or the basic decencies of being a human being. In canon, Akashi’s the ‘villain’.

I disagree.

The true villain of KNB are the adults. Teikou pushed middle school children into hierarchies in a basketball club just to keep up the prestige of their name. The coaches never approached the kids when they were emotionally broken and needed someone to ground them. Akashi’s dad pushed him so far that he developed a mental disorder.

We never see the actual villains and they’re never defeated. This is because in reality, the children are powerless. KNB lasts just one school year. What about when they get out? What happens when they face the real villains?

That’s what happens in this fic. They’re all more aged up, but Akashi suffered his worst defeat as a child in the conflict of adults. Now that he’s grown up, he stands a chance. The entire fic is, to an extent, the cruelty of the adults and the powerful.

People go on and on about honesty, truthfulness and being honourable but no one is, and no one should try to be so rigidly perfect. These phrases or virtues according to which people are supposed to live are taken to be used whenever it’s convenient for them.

Seirin is the biggest example of this because that’s where a lot of the story takes place. “Honesty Above”, but they’re always gossiping and rumours keep spreading like wildfire there. False and romanticized rumours. It’s what Akashi depends on to brush up on his reputation and it works.

Akashi didn’t really do much good in the grand scheme of things but his closeness to Furihata, Kawahara and Fukuda along with ratting out on Yuito and Toshi was enough to sort of sway their opinions on him. People used to be terrified of him in the main house but after a while he gets respect (though imposing and kinda scary).

Yes I’m trying to be a pretentious fuck but I’m no….idk insert awesome writer who actually can handle these kinda things. Writing like this is difficult ngl and I accidentally create analogies I don’t intend because of the already existing stuff.

Eg: To Veer the Tides- Nijimura’s the moon. What can ACTUALLY veer the tides and is associated with it? The moon. But Nijimura doesn’t have that big of a part in the story.

Anyways, here’s my word vomit. You can use these analogies for your fics to and jump off these ideas cause’ I need more fics dang it ;_;

Kurobas Valentine’s Day Event 2020 Day 4: NijiAka

Oh gosh, I’ve finally finished this after a looooong time. And because it’s Valentines, various pairings (MuraHimu, MidoTaka, AoKise, and KagaKuro) appear on this. And it’s time for this pair to make a debut at least for me because the guy who plays Nijimura on the stageplay is my Kubota Hidetoshi. :P Once again, special thanks to @vanilla-daydreams and @theuglycrybaby for this wonderful event.

Day 4 Prompt: Love Song/I wish you were here.

Title: Valentines’ Surprise

Summary: Akashi has finally realized that greater things come to those who wait.

Akashi Seijurou is currently overlooking his team’s practice. Because of their loss, he and the coach have decided to pump up their training regime to get back what’s rightfully theirs for the next Winter Cup.

It has been two weeks since he has woken up from his own body and since Seirin has beaten them. For the excruciating weeks following his comeback, the Akashi Seijurou has been longing. Since he emerges, his first thought after losing is to badly talk to Nijimura-san. He has been longing to see or even talk to his previous captain. He wants to apologize for everything as well as to tell him something important. Something that he couldn’t say or even show before because his other self has gotten so obsessed with winning and being absolute to the point that he has pushed everyone away.

He has been lucky that his previous team, his first real friends, are able to accept him again after all his wrongdoings in the past when they all meet up for Kuroko’s birthday. No words have been said, just a welcoming feeling that he still belongs with them. He feels that he doesn’t deserve it but nonetheless reaches out their hands again because he seriously doesn’t want to lose them again this time. And now, looking at his current teammates, he promises himself that he won’t do the same mistake again.

Practice ends in an uneventful way and Seijurou just wants to retire to his room for the night. Although he has been thinking a lot after he comes back but today, he is feeling so pensive and he doesn’t know why. He creases his forehead as he feels an incoming headache. Thinking that he has enough practice for today, he shouts some more last-minute orders for the other first years before he makes his way to the locker room. However, when he arrives there, he is greeted by the usual occurrence with the three second years starting with Nebuya flexing his muscles and he feels like Hayama is a walking bungee jumper with a megaphone attached. Although it is a bit different from Mibuchi. These past few days, Mibuchi finds a fascination for Western slow rock love songs ranging from the 70s-90s. Almost every day, he will give him his most recommended song, he’ll listen to it then he’ll give his input the next day. He actually indulges his teammates with their quirks and whims to get closer and to get to know them better like what he has done with the Kisekis before to deepen the bond and trust among themselves.

“Sei-chan~,” Mibuchi greets him as well as the other two. He nods at them as he goes in front of his locker to change.

“Hey, Akashi, Reo-nee says he wants to go to the convenience store and Ei-chan and I are gonna tag along. Come with us!” Hayama asks him excitedly. He thinks for a bit; he doesn’t have much homework today and he has been meaning to get the Basketball Monthly for this month.

“Okay, I’ll come.”

“Ara, Sei-chan you make me happy~” He sees Mibuchi and Hayama from the corner of his eye do a high five.

A small smile tug on his lips thinking that it’s okay to have fun with these guys.

Their trip to the convenience store somewhat reminds him of what they used to do back in middle school. It is a refreshing feeling. Hayama strongly reminds him of Kise as a ball of energy. Mibuchi is like Midorima who is engaging him in a sensible conversation. With Nebuya, he’s like Kuroko in a way that he will just input on the conversation from time to time less the gross burping. He must admit that he misses Murasakibara’s constant munching with crumbs leaving a trail from point a to point b as well as Aomine’s contagious smile and sometimes, stupidity. He is thinking that maybe, he should hang out with them more after school. They also end up eating dinner at a nearby restaurant near the convenience store because Nebuya wants to eat more meat.

And thus, when they reach their boarding, Mibuchi stops him and gives him his song for the day. He accepts it with a small smile and promises him that he’ll give him his review tomorrow. They bid their goodbyes as he retires to his room. He does his routine: bath, do his homework while listening to classical music, do some stretching before going to bed and the newly added one, check out Mibuchi’s recommended song for the day. He unfolds the paper and looks at the title with Mibuchi’s neat handwriting.

First Time by Robin Beck

Seijurou then opens his laptop and starts searching the song and the lyrics. As he is listening, he thinks that so far this is the best one yet. Mibuchi is giving him songs varying from I Love You Always Forever by Donna Lewis, Love Will Lead You Back by Taylor Dayne to Morning Train by Sheena Easton. He thinks that all of them are good songs but the first one is too cliché, the second one is too painful while the last one is for adulting...kind of.

But this song, First Time by Robin Beck triggers something in him. The fine use of metaphor when you experience your first love is so beautiful as well as the feelings and hesitations that comes with it when you finally have the love you desire. The melody is something upbeat as slow rock music is meant to be and the exquisite timing fits the lyrics properly.

Probably because he’s on a pensive move all day and him, Akashi Seijurou is never really a fan of love songs. Not at all, thank you very much. It’s just so out of his character but it’s quite alright for him because he is actually learning something from it as well as having some bonding moment with Mibuchi. He especially likes these lines:

So mysterious yet so incredibly real

It's an uncharted sea, it's an unopened door

But you gotta reach out and you gotta explore

Even though you're not sure till the moment arrives

There he is and you know you're in love

And it reminds him of Nijimura-san. The guy that he never has a chance to express how he really feels. He is a little bit too late. Nijimura-san has already left when he realized everything. Also, it is one of the reasons why his split personality has gotten worst to the point of emerging so soon. He lost his support system and he got pressured for leading the team to victory after victory. He has realized it too late that it was and it still is Nijimura-san who can keep him in line after all this time.

He repeats the song again as he digs deeper into the metaphors when his phone continuously vibrates, signaling that he has an incoming call. He pauses the music as he reaches for his phone and looks at the caller before answering. His eyes widen for a brief moment because the one calling him is Murasakibara and he is definitely not expecting a call from him by this time just because the big baby is usually asleep as early as 1930 and it’s already past 2300 now.

Curiously, he answers his phone.

“Hello?”

“Hey, Aka-chin. Can you come to Tokyo this weekend? I want to see you. Also, Mido-chin, Mine-chin, Kuro-chin, Kise-chin and Sa-chin are coming too.” Seijurou smiles as he heard the usual childish voice of Murasakibara. After all, even though he is the youngest of the team, he and Nijimura-san always baby him just so he would listen to them when they tell him to do something. He will always have a soft spot for their team’s big baby, after all.

“What is coming this weekend? It’s not like you to actually exert an effort to come to Tokyo from Akita.”

He hears some speaking noise from the other line and he can make up that Murasakibara is talking to Himuro based on a Muro-chin call and Atsushi coming from the pretty boy. “Eh? I don’t know what you’re talking about Aka-chin but come. Everyone is coming so you should too.”

It’s funny that almost everyone he knows is mostly inviting him to something today. He just doesn’t expect one from Murasakibara though.

“Okay, I will come. Where are we meeting up?”

“Do you still remember that court that we always play at near Teiko?”

“Yes.”

“Yeah, there. See you, Aka-chin. Bye.”

He sets down his phone on the desk as he wonders what has Murasakibara has eaten for him to organize this meet-up. It’s normal if it’s Momoi who calls him tonight because she usually arranges the meet up for everyone. He just continues the song and makes up his mind that dwelling with Murasakibara’s peculiar behavior is not worth it for he trusts the gentle baby giant.

Saturday comes and he is anticipating this day. When Mibuchi caught wind of his plan, he insists that he comes with him because he wants to see the Kisekis too especially Kise. He asks Murasakibara if he can tag Mibuchi along and replies okay since he’s bringing Himuro Tatsuya with him too. And now, they are currently taking a bus going to Teiko. It’s not that he feels nostalgic but because of the fact that being near Teiko gives him a bittersweet memory. He tries to whisk away all the pessimistic thoughts that he is having. After all, he is meeting his friends and it’s supposed to be a joyful event for him.

When they finally arrive at the street courts, he is greeted by his friends warmly. After he says his greetings to them as well as Mibuchi, he sits down by the bench as he endearingly watches his friends interact with each other.

Midorima is holding delicately an airplane model for his lucky item for the day as Kise wants to play with it because it is his dream to be a pilot much to the chagrin of the bespectacled boy. Aomine has challenged Mibuchi to a one on one which the latter gladly accepts and says “Ikemen Target No. 1: Lock on~”. He chuckles at his teammates but said nothing when he sees Aomine cringing. Momoi is affectionately talking to Kuroko. However, the guy who has organized this meeting is still missing.

“Has anyone heard from Murasakibara?” It is Midorima who asks, obviously irritated.

“Murasakibara-kun is going to come, he just needs to do something first.” Kuroko supplies.

“I wonder why Mukkun called us here. Do you happen to know the reason, Tetsu-kun?”

“Yes, I would like to know that too.” By this time, all heads turn to him when he has spoken. “Do you know anything Kuroko?”

Kuroko looks at him with his usually impassive face as he takes out his phone and calls someone.

“Hello, Kagami-kun?...yeah...they’re coming now? Okay...you’re still with Takao-kun? Right...you can come here with Takao-kun...All right...vanilla milkshake please..thanks!”

After the conversation, Kuroko faces them again and says, “They’re coming now. Probably they have just gotten lost knowing Murasakibara-kun as well as Himuro-san. Even I don’t know why Murasakibara-kun called us.”

This time, it is Midorima who comments, “You’re awfully close with Himuro-san, Kuroko.”

“Yeah. We always hang out at Kagami-kun’s house whenever he and Murasakibara-kun will come to Tokyo.”

“Eh? Really, Kurokochi? Why is Murasakibarachi not saying anything whenever he comes to Tokyo?”

Kuroko mysteriously smiles, “I think you’ll just have to ask him when he comes.”

Aomine then comes and he one arm hugs Kise, “Cmon, Kise. Isn’t it too obvious? They’re always together. Also, they’re in the same room.”

“Eh? EEEEHHHHH???!!!!”

“Too loud, Kise. Aomine, I’m surprised by your perspective thinking only for today, in fact.” Midorima says as he pushes his glasses up with his taped fingers.

“Shut up, megane. Can’t you even say something nice? And yeah, Kise, so stop whining.”

Seijurou, for the lack of a better word, is in fact, shocked. Just because this is Murasakibara that we are talking about. He more or less gets what they are implying. It is as clear as the sky for Aomine and Kise because they’ve been at it since middle school. For Midorima with Takao, they make it painfully obvious during the Rakuzan vs. Shutoku match last Winter Cup. He knows about Kuroko and Kagami because Kuroko has admitted it to him during his birthday. He knows that Himuro is treating Murasakibara like his baby chick and he has thought that it’s platonic. He has decided now that he should learn more about human interactions. He will have to buy a book before going back to Kyoto.

As he is contemplating different books about human interactions and where to get them, Kagami and Takao arrive, with the tiger carrying two big paper bags from Maji Burger with Takao trailing after him who is holding the drinks. He sees Mibuchi joyfully approaches Takao as Midorima shots the boy a glare.

“Yo, everyone!” Kagami and Takao greet them. He nods at the two as they settle the paper bags and drinks on the bench. Takao goes behind Midorima just because Mibuchi has locked on his second target in the form of one Takao Kazunari much to the entertainment of Momoi. Kagami, on the other hand, is greeted by Kuroko with a small smile of his as he hands him his vanilla milkshake. Kise and Aomine are cuddling together much to the sourness of Midorima because he says it’s too vulgar. He, on the other hand, just accepts the food as Kagami is handing out for everyone. But still, Murasakibara sure is taking his sweet time. He is itching to call the tall purple head because although he is with every one of his friends and their other half, it feels like they are still incomplete.

And as everyone starts digging in with their food, they heard footsteps coming in their way. When he looks up, he sees Murasakibara, Himuro and a third person that is awfully familiar. He just can’t tell because the third person is wearing dark sunglasses as well as a baseball cap.

“Hi, everyone~!” Murasakibara waves at then with his usual lazy tone and three sticks of pocky hanging on his mouth.

“The hell you called us early in here and you arrived late?! I should be sleeping.........” Aomine yells indignantly follows by Midorima’s, “You have some nerve to let us wait in here, in fact.” They can see that something like a green smoke oozing out of Midorima’s body as Takao tries to pacify his boyfriend.

“Murasakibarachi, what’s up with the sudden meetup? Why are you late? Did something happen? You know we are worried that you might be lost as always..........”

“Hello, Mukkun, Himuro-san.”

“Hello, Murasakibara-kun, Himuro-san.”

“Hey, Murasakibara, Himuro-san.”

Murasakibara snaps for the constant nagging coming from Kise and Aomine as well as the sharp glare coming from Midorima. The next thing they know, his right hand is already moving to clamp a head as he just tells them.

“Shut up, guys. I’ll crush each and every one of you.”

Seijurou just sighs as he looks at his friends. His crazy friends. By then, he noticed that the mysterious guy behind Himuro is laughing at their display. It seems like he isn’t the only one who has noticed it as the rest of them has stopped talking and look at the mysterious newcomer.

Himuro chuckles at their expressions before saying, “Hey, Shuu. I think they’ve had enough of your disguise.”

It is actually Kuroko who snaps out of their first, “Nijimura-senpai?”

As soon as Kuroko calls that name, he snaps his head to look at the mysterious guy as he removes his sunglasses and cap.

“What’s up brats?” He lightly greets them with a grin.

Seijurou holds a deep breath as he properly looks at him. Nijimura-san is here in flesh and blood. He is snapped out when everyone has started to call out and surround Nijimura-san excitedly.

“Nijimura-senpai. It has been a while, in fact.”

“Nijimuraccchiiiiii!!!”

“Yo, Nijimura-senpai.”

“Hey brats, calm down!” He says as he greets every person there. The guys outside Teiko seems to be confused by the newcomer.

And hesitantly, he slowly moves forward to him and bravely faces his old captain. He lets out the breath that he has been holding as he genuinely smiles.

“Nijimura-san, it’s been a while.” The older boy just grins at him as he pats his head affectionately. “Yo, Akashi. You’ve grown huh?”

“Of course. I am a boy who is hitting puberty. I am supposed to grow.”

Nijimura-san just smirks at him. “You still don’t have any funny bone in you.”

Akashi gives him a small smile as the group settles by the benches, gives him food and from there, a series of conversations have started mostly from Kise asking a ton of questions to Nijimura-san as well as they introduce him to the others.

“Takao, Mibuchi and Kagami, this is Nijimura Shuuzo. Our old captain from Teiko.”

“Ara, what an ikemen, Sei-chan.”

“Heh, he’s the one that Shin-chan is talking about.”

“Ne, ne, Nijimurachi, how come Murasakibarachi knows you’re arriving?”

They all look at him and waits for an answer because everyone is as curious as he is.

Nijimura-san sips his soda before he answers, “Well, I’m friends with Tatsuya. We met in LA. And because he is a sly fox, he finds it entertaining to call me at Skype when it’s really late in America. Turns out he’s roommates with Murasakibara so I’ve been keeping tabs on you guys. They also picked me up at the airport earlier but they were late. I also asked him to set this meet up.”

Himuro chuckles as he retorts, “You know, I’m not quite good with directions and Atsushi usually gets lost so put us two together, of course, we’re bound to get lost.”

Everyone laughs at that but they now know the reason why Murasakibara has set this meet up. It is coming from Nijimura-san after all.

“How come you just visit us just now, Nijimurachi? How is your dad?”

Nijimura-san actually spares a glance on him before looking back at the rest and answers, “My Dad is all better now, thanks. He is actually the one who says that I can have a vacation for a bit because between school, part-time job and taking care of my Dad, I barely have time to spare for myself. Also, I need to see how far my sons have come.” He smirks at them but Seijurou kind of feels offended that Nijimura-san also sees him as his son. Out of nowhere, he abruptly stands up and excuses himself from the rest as he goes on his way to the restroom. He can hear the others calling for him but he doesn’t really want them to see him being so out of character - being fragile and offended. He needs time to compose himself, for goodness’ sake, he is Akashi Seijuro and Akashis don’t show any weaknesses.

Once he is done composing himself, he goes out of the restroom but is surprised to see Nijimura-san standing outside as if he is waiting for him. Seijuro snorts inwardly at the thought. By now, he has learned the hard way not to expect anything from other people or else he might push them more away from him.

“Yo, Akashi, why did you suddenly bailout?”

“And you, Nijimura-san, why are you here?”

“It’s suffocating there, everyone is doing a public display of attention even Midorima and his little bird and otou-san can’t handle it.” He says with a straight face which is amusing if he must say. He can’t help but let out a small laugh.

“Ah yes, I am surprised as well with everyone dating someone especially Murasakibara. I mean he’s our big baby.”

Nijimura-san just chuckles. “Yeah, I’ll kill Tatsuya if he makes our big baby cry, ne, okaa-san?”

Seijurou does something out of his character for he actually widens his eyes and gapes at him for a few seconds. Thinking that he must have heard his statement wrong, he inquires again.

“Sorry I missed what you said. Can you repeat it again?”

He can see that his face has a tint of red showing as he faces him and moves closer to him until they are only a foot away. He actually has to look up at him because he has gotten taller as he remembers him to be. But he couldn’t deny the fact that Nijimura-san has gotten more....dashing.

“W-Well, Akashi, other than seeing our sons, my priority is to talk to you about two things.”

“About what?”

“Well, first, you know Murasakibara told me everything and I want to see if you’re okay now.”

“Yes, better than I’ll ever be.”

“Good, then for the second one.”

“Yes?”

“I’ve been meaning to tell you this before but I’ve seen you getting harder to approach and getting more aloof by that time so I thought that it’s not yet time. For the first time in his life, Akashi Seijurou is getting a really lame confession and he can’t help but chuckle. Nijimura-san has said it with such a straight face that he really doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry out of happiness.

“That’s a lame confession, Nijimura-san.”

“Shut up. It took me three whole years to say that.” As soon as the older boy says that, he can’t help but blush just because for three years, he has this lingering feeling of love for one Nijimura Shuuzo. The moment is already here and he remembers the lyrics of the song.

It has been a precious week of happiness that will forever be engraved in Seijurou’s heart once he and Shuuzo are together. The others have teased them to no end once they have learned that finally, their parents are together after three long years. Everyone gives their congratulations and some threats to their otou-san that they will fly to America if he makes their okaa-san cry. Seijurou finds it funny how Shuuzo gets rooted in his place as he listens to every threat that their sons throw on him.

However, Shuuzo is only staying for a week so when he flies back, it is a bittersweet moment for both of them. They hug each other tightly with a promise that they will be in touch at all times with each other.

And now, Valentine’s day has come and he is actually feeling a little bit lonely because his other half is on the other side of the world. He is currently on the rooftop where he has met Mayuzumi-san before, feeling the wind touching on his skin. His phone suddenly vibrates signaling a message and smiles as he sees Shuuzo’s name.

To: Mama Sei

Subject: Good morning

Message: Happy Valentines’ Day, okaa-san. I miss you. Don’t let our sons run wild today! I’ll call you later during my lunch break at school.

He smiles as he is typing a reply because he never knew that the Nijimura Shuuzo who always beat up Haizaki into the brink of death could be this sweet.

lovely nijiaka once again; ~u~// ahh... summer breezy............

Here’s a lil something spicey spicyy on the bottom, but anyways some random talk, but oooooooof, it’s not like I “leave” fandoms. My love for it is still there, but let’s say my creative output becomes dormant as I travel on from one vacation spot to the next. I don’t know how long I’d stay there in a spot, but I know once my interest wanes, I’ll be nyooming off again.

I draw a lot, it........ so it kinda feels like it’s more than just a vacation spot //laughs//

Of course, when it’s time for me to pack up and move on to another spot, or back home for the matter, it always feels quite daunting and a little like... I’ve betrayed? people? I guess.

I try not to feel that way now a days; but I can’t help but secretly hear the chorus of “Why the hell are you back, you two timing bastard.” from those I’ve left at home, and the chorus of “How dare you leave us so soon.”

Though, I suppose in the end, I’m really drawing for myself, especially in these busy times. ~u~;;;; I don’t really have much time to be drawing for the sake of others really. Even though I appreciate feedback!! and kind words!! I’m kind of busy with the adulting life to be investing too much on being worried over things like this.

Hi dear! Sorry if it took me a while! I’m afraid tosay that in the end I’ve slightly modified your prompt. Mainly because I can’teven imagine Teikou!Aomine flirting with someone for revenge: he’s a dork, abasketball dork who thinks only in basketball terms. That’s why his aid to thecouple is unconscious, he’s only trying to be petty and vengeful. I know it’sshort, but I hope you’re going to enjoy it either way dear! “Damn Akashi…” Aomine muttered under his breath,seated at the border of the gym with a menacing expression.

Akashi had threw away his last Mai-chan’s magazines asa revenge for Aomine clumsy joke about his “non-existent love life”. He still couldn’tbelieve he had done it and was boiling with anger. No one could touch hisMai-chan. No one.

“I have to avenge myself…” whispered crazily, eyeingthe red-haired boy at the other side of the gym.

“I don’t know if it’s a good idea…” Kise tried topersuade him, seated next to me and still panting after their one on one, buthe was ignored.

“I have to take him away for a bit something he likes,so that he can feel my pain.” Aomine reasoned and his eyes casually laid on hiscaptain. Shuuzou Nijimura. He didn’t know why, but the captain and Akashiseemed on great terms and played together after practice. In those moments, Aomineusually could recognize on Akashi’s face the excited look of a satisfied andchallenged basketball player instead of his polite and composed façade.

Aomine smirked.

Ah, found it.

Nijimura was drinking peacefully some water on his own,when Aomine suddenly reached him with a wide smile.

“Senpai!” called with a basketball in his hands, “Let’splay together!”

Nijimura arched an eyebrow and put the bottle down.

After practice, usually they were given fifteen minutesor sometimes even half an hour to play freely with each other. Aomine usuallyplayed with Kise or Kuroko, so it was definitely strange to see him there askingfor a one on one with him. However, the captain’s usual partner had to go awayearlier that day and he was left alone.

“Really?” inquired, sensing there was something offwith that basketball head but the other boy shrugged.

“Yeah, yeah.” Assured, without meeting his eyes, “Justplay.” Grunted impatiently.

Nijimura sighed and decided it was probably wasnothing to worry about, both eager to play against someone as strong as him andcurious to understand what was going on.

“Then it’s fine.” He agreed with a small ferine smile.

And, that was the beginning of the end. For the entireweek, in the exact moment practice finished Aomine would appear next to Nijimurataunting him to play one on one and the senpai couldn’t refuse his enthusiasticand energetic junior even if…Even if usually those moments were strictlyreserved to another special person and he was missing them.

However, that special person hadn’t said anything evenonce and just looked from afar or escaped quickly. Somewhat this made Nijimuraeven more curious and observing until the only possible answer came to his mind.So, after another week spent dealing with the basketball monster, finally Nijimuradecided he was going to take a step further.

That afternoon, Akashi was angrily putting away someballs in the storage room. He was trying hard to swallow the hungry and bitterfeeling in his mouth, but it was harder than it thought. It was just that…itwas so unfair. He had already given up on confessing to Nijimura and werecontent with being his trusted and appreciated junior, but their after-practicematches were his untouchable treasure. It was their moment alone. It wassomething only them shared and made Akashi feel special.

He knew it sounded very cheesy, but it was importantto him. Yet, Aomine had started to interfere. He knew perfectly that basketballidiot was probably doing it just to annoy him by stealing his “practice’spartner” as a revenge and that he was too simpleminded to discover Akashi’sfeelings, but it hurt. He was jealous that he had lost his important momentwith Nijimura like that, but he hadn’t had the courage to voice his complaint;even because, he was offended his senpai hadn’t done nothing and went alongwith it. Did Akashi mean nothing to him? He could at least have said something.

Damn! He felt so mad.

Akashi slammed closed a locker with some tape andother things with a scary expression, but suddenly heard some footsteps behindhim. He hated himself for recognizing them immediately and refused to turn. Hehad still a dignity somewhere.

“Let’s play.” Nijimura hummed at the boy, a ball underhis arm.

“If I’m not mistaken, you have already someone to playwith.” He politely answered, faking to tidy something in the room.

“If you mean Aomine, he is trying to make amend to poutingKise and Kuroko, who he had ignored all this time to try to make you mad.” He bluntlyexplained to Akashi, who nearly stumbled at his words. But he tried to keep hiscomposure.

“Then he has lost his time. I bet it’s for hismagazine’s thing, what a child.” Quietly replied, nervous hands clutched arounda ball. “I’m perfectly fine.”

“Really? I thought it has worked though.” Nijimura commentedwith a shrug and this finally forced Akashi to turn and glare, a fake smallsmile on the lips.

“It didn’t.” he coldly denied, but his cheeks weregetting red. Feeling hotter and bother under his senpai’s clear eyes, he walkedpast him quickly to escape, before he could say something he was surely goingto regret. Before Nijimura could understand everything.

“Seijuurou.” Nijimura called, grabbing his wrist andpulling him in a hug from behind, back in the room where no one could see them.Akashi froze and his mind went completely blank.

Okay, that wasn’t right. That was a first, a good butunexpected first. What did it mean? He didn’t want to hope for impossiblethings…

“You have to say it aloud when you are jealous.” The olderone mocked him with an exasperated sigh.

“I’m not jealous.” Akashi muttered, breath caught inhis lungs.

“You are.”

“I don’t havethe right to be jealous.” Akashi rephrased both bitter and sad, loweringhis red eyes. He didn’t even know what’s going on, but it felt useless to lieat that point.

Nijimura bit his lip, pondering if he could say it now.He was scared and unsure about the future but…damn, he wasn’t born a coward andhe knew perfectly what he wanted.

“What if I said you have?” whispered calmly and fondly.

Akashi blinked while the meaning of those words sankin, happiness and fear swirling in his stomach.

“Then I would ask you to stop playing with Aomine-kunand prove what you’ve said to me.” Replied in a slightly trembling voice, but raisinghis chin and showing a playful pout.

At his prideful and mighty answer, Nijimura grinnedrolling his eyes and finally loosened his grip so that the boy could turn to facehim. Without adding anything else, he bended and kissed Akashi quickly on thelips.

“You are really spoiled.” Muttered trying to soundexasperated, but Akashi’s flushed face was too cute to stop smiling.

He was definitely going to thank Aomine for that.

Summary: “I hate vodka and never had a cocktail. But I’d order you, because you’re my cocktail.” Nijimura whispered as the stranger smirked.

“Someone fucking remind me why I came to this damn event?” Taking a sip of his drink, Nijimura looked around the crowded room.

He sat at the bar, staying away from all the “fancy” people, as he called them, as they talked about god knows what. Probably what recent yacht they bought or what expensive trip they had taken recently. He noticed a group of women talking, probably gossiping or who they had paid thousands of dollars to make their dress. He rolled his eyes and took another sip of his drink.

“Rich people.” He mumbled. “Wasting so much goddamn money like it’s nothing.”

Well that might be true, but Nijimura was just very frugal when it came to his money.

“Oi, bartender. Another old fashion.” The bartender nodded as he filled another order. “You’re the only good thing about this damn event.”

“Then why did you come?” The bartender asked with a raised eyebrow.

“My boss said I had to because otherwise I would be sitting at home and ordering take out. Said I needed to be social because for the past “five months I’ve done nothing but work and haven’t taken any of my vacation days”. Something like that, hell what do I know. Thanks by the way.”

“What do you do and how did you get in here? All of these people are big business and politic people. Who are you?” The bartender, Himuro Tatsuya was his name, asked. Nijimura looked up from taking another sip.

“Me? I’m a doctor, an oncologist to be specific.” The doctor replied as Himuro whistled.

“Then you have to be making a six digit number salary.” The bartender smirked as the doctor shook his head.

“Everything goes into savings. I barely touch it. Only to pay my bills and feed myself.”

“So no one special to spoil it on?”

“I’m a doctor who works twenty-four, seven. I have no life, let alone a social life. My job is too important to date.”

“Now I see why your boss sent you here. At least try and enjoy the night, some of these people aren’t so bad.”

“Right, sure. I’ll get asked what I do, how much I make, how fancy my house is, then get asked what the hell I spend it on and blah, blah, blah. Plus everyone here is old, far older than me.”

“Well...I did see someone young. Probably about twenty-four, twenty-five.”

“Oh great, a spoiled brat.” How he hated those types. He didn’t have to deal with them in his apartment, but his fellow doctors had a lot of stories to share about those kind of people.

“Actually he was quite polite, patient too. Not bad looking either, he had red hair and eyes. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” Himuro chuckled as Nijimura rolled his eyes taking another sip.

“Sure. I’ll keep that in mind.”

“Bartender, a martini and fast! I’m in a heated discussion about a new possible deal!” Looking up from his phone, Nijimura saw a man in a gray suit standing next to him. The doctor rolled his eyes, he could tell this guy was a CEO just by the way he spoke and his suit.

“Here you go.” The man took the glass, nodded and walked away. Nijimura watched and scowled.

“Could have at least tipped him, you ass-”

“I apologize for my father. When he gets into a discussion about a new deal, he forgets his manners. A cosmopolitan cocktail please.” A new voice came.

‘Oh so it’s the son of the CEO asshole. Well at least he has some manners-’ Nijimura turned back around to get a look at the son and what he saw, he wasn’t expecting. Instead of someone looking just like their Father, he looked different. Instead of a suit, he wore a white button up shirt with a vest instead of a jacket. His red hair was nothing compared to the dark hair of his Father; the older man’s hair was slicked back and this guy’s looked like it hadn’t been touched. He also had red eyes that matched his hair. Was that guy Himuro had been talking about?

“I’m used to it. No need to apologize.” Himuro spoke as he placed the drink down in front of the redhead.

“Still it was rude of him to run off without tipping.” The redhead spoke as he pulled out his wallet to tip the bartender. The bartender accepted the tip and glanced at Nijimura, who was still staring at the redhead. He smirked and looked back to the man that stood in front of him, taking a sip of his cocktail.

“By the way, this is the guy I was telling you about.” Nijimura snapped out of his gaze and turned to the bartender, who had a smirk on his face. The redhead looked toward Nijimura.

“U-uh, is it? Well, okay.” He was caught off guard by that, was he expected to talk to the redhead.

“I’m sure you don’t want to go back to where your Father is and you need to listen to your boss and socialize. Chat, complain, anything at this point.” The bartender insisted as the two strangers looked at one another.

“Well, he is right. I’d rather not listen to my father screaming about this deal, that could potentially help the business.”

“Yeah, I can understand. I wouldn’t be surprised if I got yelled at because I didn’t socialize and he sent someone here to make sure I do. Ah hell why not.” Nijimura shrugged as he picked up his glass. The two walked over to a table by the windows, away from the crowd of people.

“So, what are you doing here?” The doctor asked as the redhead rolled his eyes.

“I was dragged here by my Father to meet “his people” as he says. Saying that one day I will have to talk with these men about the future of the business. All he’s done is get into discussions about future plans and now a new deal. This always happens and I never meet them unless it’s through a meeting.” The redhead sighed as he sipped his drink. “And you? What do you do? I know you’re here because you don’t socialize enough.”

“Tsk. That’s what my boss thinks, I talk to the doctors I’ve befriended. I’m an oncologist.” Nijimura responded.

“An oncologist, huh? Interesting I have to say, I don’t think I’ve ever meet one before.” The redhead responded as he leaned back against his chair. To be honest, he was very interested in the doctor’s occupation.

“You could say, I really got into it because of my father. He had been sick since I’d been in middle school and my family and I traveled to get him help. I didn’t originally want to be an oncologist, had no idea until he passed away when I was in college. After that, I wanted to help people and their loved ones while they go through this struggle because well...I’ve been through it.” Nijimura explained, his eyes staring at the floor before he closed them and took a sip.

“Sometimes we learn what we want to do for the rest of our life through something tragic.”

“Yeah, you could say that. So you got into business because of your Father?” The doctor asked as he looked up from his glass.

“It’s a family business. Well, at this point it’s a corporation, but it’s been in my family for generations. I’m next to take over when my father steps down.”

“Damn, long time huh?”

“Yes. You could say my life has been set since my birth, but the pressure to be this “perfect” son makes me wish I could have come from a normal family. A family that doesn’t make millions and millions of dollars each year or have the pressure to understand the inside and outside of the business so it doesn’t fail when you take over.” The redhead groaned, taking another sip of his drink.

“Well...why don’t you? Study something you wanted to study, let someone else take over the business.” Nijimura suggested as the redhead moved his eyes toward the doctor’s gray eyes.

“I would but I am the only heir to my father. But even if I had a sibling, I wouldn’t want to put the pressure on them.”

“Only child?”

“Yes. My mother passed away when I was young. You?” He sighed, his red eyes growing sad for just a moment before closing them.

“Younger brother and sister.”

“Must be nice.”

“They’re a pain in my ass...but I love them. They recently moved back to Japan with my mom after my dad passed away. Now they’re closer to family and also me,” Nijimura started before he chuckled. “Mom was worried about me being overseas for medical school. Hoping I was alright and that I was eating. Now she’s back, I’m always getting text messages from her asking if I’ve eaten and how much sleep have I gotten.”

“She must really care about you.” The redhead smiled softly.

“She has always made sure we had everything we need. Putting a brave face on during the tough days while Dad was in the hospital. She worked two jobs to make sure there was food on the table. She never complained, unlike me.” Nijimura chuckled before looking at the redhead. “What about yours? Do you remember anything about her?”

“...She was my moral support. She’s what made my harsh childhood somewhat bearable. She always had this gentle smile on her face, that would make my day so much better. The way she held me, it made me feel safe and made me forget what kind of day I had. But she passed away when I was in elementary school and...things didn’t get any better. My father became stricter than he already was and there was no freedom. I felt some relief when I was away from home but the stress never left. I didn’t have a lot of freedom to do much. I’m sure if she was still alive I would have had more freedom than I did.”

“Holy shit, that sucks man. Sorry about your mom, by the way. I can tell she meant a lot to you.” Nijimura’s eyes had widened. This guy’s childhood had to suck if he had no freedom at all and his Mom had been his moral support. Now he really didn’t like his Father.

“It’s alright, it’s all in the past now.” The redhead sipped his drink and then placed it on the table. “So, do you have a significant other or are you too deep into your doctor work?”

“Nope. I’d be lucky to find anyone, who would be able to deal with my crazy schedule.” Nijimura groaned as he leaned back while rolling his eyes. The redhead chuckled and leaned forward, a smirk crossing his face.

“I’m sure your boss wouldn’t mind finally giving you those vacation days if you had someone to spoil.”

“Probably, hell he’d be more than happy. Have a celebration that I finally took my damn vacation days.” Nijimura laughed. The redhead chuckled as he looked out the window toward the nightlife of Tokyo.

“So are you dating anyone?”

“No. Father has kept me so busy that I haven’t even thought of a significant other. I didn’t even date anyone while I was in university because I was so busy.” He chuckled as the doctor looked at him surprised.

“Holy shit, you haven’t even dated anyone? Not even kissed?”

“Sadly no. I know I sound pitiful.” The redhead chuckled while shaking his head. “A friend of mine is always saying I need to get laid at least once.”

“Are they offering?”

“No and even if he was, I would refuse. He isn’t my type. And I’m sure his significant other wouldn’t be so pleased that he went and had sex with one of his friends.” He chuckled as he took another sip. The doctor noticed there wasn’t much left in the redhead’s glass, maybe a sip. As for his glass, he had the same amount surprisingly.

“So you’ve never been kissed, went on a date with someone or had sex. I think out of the two of us, you’re the one one who needs the social life.” Nijimura chuckled. “Guess we need to change that.”

“Oh? Are you offering now?” The redhead straightened up just slightly and smirked at the doctor. Nijimura chuckled as he leaned forward.

“I might be.” He smirked.

“Well,” The other man looked right into the doctor’s gray eyes and put his hands onto Nijimura’s cheeks; tilting his head up just a bit. “Then I accept.”

The music somehow got louder or had it always been this loud? Nijimura couldn’t remember as he felt the stranger’s lips on his. The doctor opened his mouth and licked the redhead’s lips, asking to enter. It was granted and his tongue slipped in. He could taste the alcohol in his mouth, the vodka from the martini. He wasn’t a fan of the drink, but it tasted better in the stranger’s mouth. He stood up and put his hands on the redhead’s cheeks as what was supposed to be a simple kiss turned into a make out session. He lean forward, pressing the stranger into the wall. A moan emitted from the smaller man, he hadn’t noticed how short he was compared to the doctor.

The kiss lasted until they needed to breath, a vital part of living and they parted. They panted while staring at each other and staring, did that actually happen? Did they just make out in public? Yeah...yeah they did.

“Well...that escalated quickly.” Nijimura finally said after he caught his breath.

“Yes...yes it did.” The stranger agreed.

“Sorry about that, but how was that?” Nijimura asked as the redhead wrapped his arms around the doctor’s neck and tugged him down, his lips close to his again.

“I couldn’t ask for a better first kiss. I could taste the whisky.”

“I hate vodka and never had a cocktail. But I’d order you, because you’re my cocktail.” He whispered as the stranger smirked.

“Oh really now? Well then,” He pulled away and picked up his glass, taking the final sip before looking at Nijimura. “I’m expecting that date now.”

“Name time and place, I’ll be there.” Nijimura smirked as the stranger nodded. “Nijimura Shuzo by the way. Nice to meet you.”

“Akashi Seijuro, the pleasure is all mine.”

“Akashi, huh? Nice name for a cocktail. I like it.”

Yay! Nijiaka daily minievents!

(or some of them, at least)

Day 2: Interpret official merch! Make up a backstory for the (few) official nijiaka pictures we’ve got!

First pic: Okay, the first (or second) thing that stands out to me about this picture is how Kubota (aka fringe senpai) seems to be talking to Midorima. This makes me wonder if they have some sort of mentor-mentee relationship. Anyhow, this is about nijiaka. There’s really nothing I want to point out about it, except for how calm both of they are. This makes me think scenes like this happened often in Teikou, so this is a nice look into their daily lives.

Pictures 2 & 3: Awww! I love how fandom and official merch portray Nijimura as a guy who loves physical contact. This way he looks way friendlier and more approachable (well, he looks a bit creepy in the third picture but that’s probably me)

Picture 4: I always laugh at Nijimura’s face Two captains, two methods, one motto (which is shown in the background as a subtle reminder). Their striking (and adorable) height difference aside, I think it’s important to point out their facial expressions: Nijimura looks calm, as if he accepted the fact that he’s no longer needed as a captain and trusts Akashi with the team. He looks a bit melancholic, too? Idk Akashi, on the other hand, is 100% stiff. There’s too much pressure on him :(

Picture 5: Nijimura glancing at Akashi. This is the guy who suggested Akashi as a vice-captain first and then as a captain, so yeah, he’s observed Akashi carefully for some time. Also, wasn’t stated in kurofes that the player Nijimura had his eyes on was Akashi?

Picture 6: AAAAAAWWWWW. Akashi looks so eager… I bet he’s doubling everyone’s training menu… my child…If only there were more scenes like that in canon... too cute...

Day 4: How do you think other characters would perceive nijiaka? How would they react to their relationship?

Day 5: Nijiaka after Teikou! What happened after Nijimura moved to LA? Share your headcanons!

Well, we know for a fact that they kept in touch in Extra Game! They probably started to message each other right away – Akashi knew Nijimura would move away, so he texted him to ask him how the flight went (Niji’s scared of flights!) and such. After Bokushi’s, err, ‘awakening’ they probably didn’t text each other all that much, or at all. Niji was a bit sad and worried about Akashi, but he didn’t want to be pushy either (he even believes Akashi might have forgotten about him altogether lmao).

Right after Kuroko’s birthday (when the miracles took a photo together), Momoi kindly suggests Akashi should show that photo to Niji, and… let’s say Akashi felt a bit awkward and bashful at first, but Nijimura made him feel comfortable in no time at all. They quickly became friends after that (not captain-vicecaptain, senpai-kouhai or anything like that - just friends)

nijiaka mini-event!

//zoooms; please forgive me in advance for pushing my hc _(:3!!!!!!

Who’s a better cook? Nijimura would be the better cook, mostly since (I hc him to be the oldest not the middle child haha;; ) he would have done most of the cooking for his siblings because his mom would’ve been busy working/taking care of his dad. I’d like to think he’s as ~amazing~ as Kagami is; not a 5-star restaurant quality, but enough to be fed and feel warm.

Do they quarrel a lot? They’d fight over dumb things I think! Mostly because they have their own pride and are not in the habit of relying on people in general. I think the more fights they have, the more they realize they have to get used to the idea of being vulnerable to each other (which is not an easy thing to do for both of them.)

What’s their favorite aspect of each other? Akashi likes how stubborn but headstrong Nijimura is; it amazes him how much effort he puts into making sure Haizaki comes to practice because if it was up to him (and it was) he would have been gone. I don’t think Akashi understands Nijimura’s approach/temper and that’s probably what fascinates him. Nijimura likes Akashi’s way of thinking, very pragmatic. He’s smart too and is able to make decisions that’d benefit the whole team. (funnily enough, I think these aspects are what makes them a good captain)

How did they meet for the first time? Before Teikou, I think! When Nijimura was a pudding head delinquent and Akashi was just this little rich kid wandering around. I semi-adopted the hc idea from one of hatoniku’s doujinshis; where Akashi was chasing a cat that stole his ribbon tie and he bumps into Nijimura. Nijimura then takes him to the police station. It’s a sweet story and I think that they met that way, though Nijimura wouldn’t have remembered it as clearly as Akashi did.

How was their first kiss like? Very tender~! (hufhuh) Akashi would have been the one to initiate it, but he doesn’t know how to kiss exactly so he just presses his lips against Nijimura’s and goes: //huff, how’s that. (Nijimura isn’t that experience either, so they keep at it a while bit before Nijimura experiments a bit more with lip biting and such. BUT FOR NOW, it’s tender and innocent lip smacks. <3; )

Are they a romantic couple? THIS IS HARD; on one hand, I want them to be casually married ™ and act like an old married couple that just mesh very well together. On the other hand, I want them to obliviously PDA so casually in public, everyone is like, please just get a room. In terms of love languages though: Akashi would be the more showy romantic one, bringing flowers and gifts to Nijimura as well as being very vocal with his affection. Nijimura shows his love by doing things for Akashi and physical touch; (and they both love spending time together, just being around each other.)

What would be their ideal date? Exploring the streets of Tokyo or the countryside; I think Akashi would enjoy the hole-in-the-wall areas and the peace and the sense of adventure. (He also probably likes that Nijimura is trying to surprise him; and he likes letting himself go along with his pace.) Also inviting Akashi to his house to stay the night would be A+; not only is Akashi smothered by Nijimura’s warm family, but Nijimura and Akashi probably spend the entire night playing games or reading manga. Just leisure activities that Akashi never really have the time or opportunity to do if he was at his own house. With life already so hectic, a nice date would just be sprawling on Nijimura’s bed without reservations and reading Slam Dunk or watching Japanese variety shows.

Who contacted with who first after Nijimura’s graduation? I think it was Nijimura! I think he would have been really worried about the state of things back in Teikou since he’s heard a lot about it second-hand. But, I don’t think Akashi (or Bokushi) replied to him at all during that year, so Nijimura was left with a lot of read messages on his end. Probably sometime after Nijimura’s fifth LINE message, Bokushi tells him to stop bothering him. (Of course, he’d have used boku or something along that effect.) After the winter cup, that’s probably when Akashi picks up the phone to poke at Nijimura again, apologizing for his past behavior. It starts off awkward at first, but they get back into the habit of exchanging messages (since they’ve done so frequently back in Teikou years.)

Do they take a lot of pictures together? All right. Nijimura likes to take selfies with Akashi; Akashi likes to take pictures of Nijimura. Nijimura is usually the first person to whip out his phone at random times during their dates, to take a top-down selfie or selfie with Akashi as they eat their food. Akashi is a bit more discreet, snapping pictures whenever he observes Nijimura being interesting (which is always probably.)

Who makes up first after a fight?: It depends on who’s fault it is!! It’s not easy for them to apologize hufhu. (That reminds me to draw that comic about this orz;;; ) Nijimura is really bad with his words so his apologies are less words and more action. This means showing up at Akashi’s door like a kicked dog with a small bouquet of roses and a demand that there’s a reservation to one of Akashi’s favorite restaurants, and they’re going right now. (They talk through their problems through dinner, and after that, things would be okay, I think.) On Akashi’s end, how I think it goes: he would show up at Nijimura’s place, looking put together (but barely) because he’s too bothered by their fight to function well. (He could try to compartmentalize, but I think a fight with Nijimura would have shaken him up too much.) He’d never outright apologize, but instead talk around the apology until he’s sure Nijimura’s not angry at him anymore. Nijimura usually gives in and just gives him a hug and things work from there.

How did they feel about each other before? And now? Respect! It’s all about the mutual respect between them that I really adore. They both are so capable on their own and they admire each other for it. They complement and supplement each other; so the support is there and it continues on through their relationship! If anything, they’ve learned to open up to each other, (though they still would be stubborn about some things oops.)

Do they cuddle often? Always but rarely in public (unless we have the oblivious, married couple that PDA in public with no self-awareness.) I think they both would seek physical touch from each other; whether headptting, caressing their hands or face, or leaning against each other. ^q^ y..yea.

How did they get together? So many ways...so many../holds head; I think it’s through a very gradual but slow process of pining on both ends, until the Kisekis are like: all right you two, just get together already. And even then there really isn’t an official start to their relationship. A lot of it would just sort of mesh together, and yeah. ^q^;; ANYWAYS, I RAMBLED SO MUCH//yells aaa; I love nijiaka so much T__T;;; thank you for listening/reading huuu; hope you guys have a great nijiaka day!!

OK, time for the junk to yell some things into the semi-void. 1) WILL THERE BE A TIME WHEN I CAN CASUALLY BE INTERESTED IN SOMETHING INSTEAD OF BEING IRRATIONALLY OBSESSED WiTH IT? ... That was a rhetorical question, of course not... of course...

2) The other day I was thinking about The Beauty And The Beast (again) and... I came up with this reimagined version of the story... in which the curse of the beast is broken by platonic love. Kids, just imagine. IMAGINE.

3) HAVE I MENTIONED THAT I’M VERY EXCITED ABOUT NIJIAKA WEEK- *IS HIT*

4) So, I’ve watched Gravity Falls and Over the garden wall (HENCE WHY THEY ARE IN MY QUEUE) and THEY ARE AMAZING AND I LOVE THEM so much- *SobS*

5) Relating to the previous one... I don’t have many crossover ideas in general BUT OVER thE GARDEN WALL x GRAVItY FALLS CROSSOVER IS ONE OF MY DREAM CROSSOVERS AND I’M SOBBING because actually it is quite a popular crossover SO MANY PEOPLE WritE/DRAW It AND THAt MAKES ME SO HAPPY-

6) I’m finally watching Steven Universe. Slowly, but surely. It seems like a nice little show so far, with some disturbing things here and there. (That cat episode was terrifying... brrr... *shivers at the memory*)

7) I’m truly astonished by the fact that there are only 9 fics on AO3 for Toshokan Sensou. A true tragedy.. More people should REALLY like, REALLY know about this show, seriously. I don’t get it why it is like this...

remember when i made this post about otp in disneyland then said i’d do a california adventures on a bad day? well.... here’s the california adventures part!!

OTP California Adventures HC fluff!!

alright, so they get there in the morning right? well Nijimura just springing to Paradise Pier before the lines get too long and of course he’s holding onto Akashi the whole time. good thing he’s an athlete hehe

they go to Toy Story Mania first bc yeah there’s no fastpasses for that ride. it’s basically astroblaster take two! I feel Akashi would enjoy Mania a bit more because there’s so much to it. high score anyone!

(they come back later in the evening bc Nijimura gotta see and yep the high score still there. heck Akashi beat it the second time through)

afterwards is Screamin’! Akashi’s hair is even worse than when he was in Tomorrowland’s rides. and Nijimura of course been on the ride a thousand times, so he knows when the camera is cue silly faces! Akashi’s just like ‘why’ bc maybe he’d want the photo! doesn’t matter bc yeah Akashi would definitely want the photo Nijimura was cute.

oh no on the ride, they do that count down thing at the pier before they shoot you through the ride right? well just Nijimura watching Akashi, Akashi’s like ‘what are you looking at?’ and Nijimura fucking loses it laughing because he’s never see Akashi so startled and discomposed.

continuing down the pier, Nijimura has to stop Akashi from playing the boardwalk games. he does not succeed. Akashi winning toys for little kiddies all around!

they go on Mickey’s Fun Wheel! Nijimura wants to go in the moving cart. Akashi unknowingly gives the okay. Akashi feels lied to when it comes to the name. it’s not fun. he’s feeling so nauseous and as green as Midorima. Nijimura feels bad, but he can’t help but smile as he comforts Akashi.

“Shuuzou, get me off this ride.” “aw come on, Sei. just two more circles. you can do it!”

they give you barf bags in the cart for the moving ones, the mom from the family sitting with them sympathetically passes it to Akashi. Akashi’s never going on another ferris wheel.

afterwards, Nijimura asks if Akashi wants to try the Golden Zephyer. Akashi’s prepare to shove his boyfriend into the water.

they decide to take it slow with Jumpin’ Jellyfish so Akashi’s nausea can calm down. not that they mind the slow ride. it was cute and yeah a nice change of pace! Nijimura points out the ride they’re going on next. and just when Akashi got his stomach back.

Goofy’s Sky School! Akashi sits on the left while Nijimura on the right. this is important bc there are more sharp left turns, so Nijimura cushioning his dear boyfriend during a sharp turn.

OH MY GOSH every time Akashi slides into him, Nijimura gives him a sweet kiss on the cheek!! Akashi’s new favorite ride!

okay now Akashi’s okay to go on circle-y rides. Silly Symphony and Golden Zephyer! which were both actually very relaxing. same with Ariel’s Undersea Adventure!

psst. They overheard a little girl pointing at them like ‘they look like Ariel and Eric’ bc hair color and ADORABLENESS! (idea from something Toki said a while back hehehe~)

okay by now it’s definitely like very hot. hotter than morning sun, afternoon sun. anyway, Nijimura decides it’s definitely time to head to Grizzly Peak for the Grizzly River Run! the two of them take sooo many pictures while waiting in line bc of the pretty waterfall and everything.

Akashi seated spot in the circle makes it so he’s backwards at first. getting unexpected wet when those ‘leaky pipes’ drips over him. also, curled up a bit when preparing the the first ‘drop’ (that tiny one) and Nijimura can die happy his boyfriend is so cute. Akashi is prepared to kill Nijimura himself with how he’s being teased.

jokes on Nijimura. he sat on the side seats and got most wet. well at least that was what they were going for with the heat and all.

walking to their next destination, at a crossroad at Cars Land and “A Bug’s Land.” they got Cars Land. Nijimura know what he doing!

Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree! Akashi returning the kisses Nijimura gave him earlier ( /)//////(\)

they probably go on Luigi’s Flying Tires but i’ve never been on it myself since every time i go it’s always down so i can’t give my thoughts im sorry

finally another fast pace ride! Radiator Springs Racers! Nijimura doesn’t know what to think when their car wins the little race the ride does. i mean, it’s 50/50 chance and all, but seriously Akashi! doesn’t need to do anything and still a win!

now this is what i mean when Nijimura knows what he’s doing. they cut into “A Bug’s Land.” now, they’re pretty much all smaller rides, but that doesn’t mean Akashi doesn’t love the place.

Nijimura couldn’t help but laugh when Akashi compliments the park designers’ work, making it so they ‘shrink’ down to bug sizes and all!

okay. not time for one of Nijimura’s favorite rides. Hollywood Tower of Terror! Akashi hesitant bc freaking free falls, but Nijimura still taking in right in~

Nijimura not saying anything when they’re going up and Akashi’s holding into his hand super tightly despite his face not super freaked out. Though, Nijimura knows bc Akashi’s eye’s are narrowed.

Akashi wonders why they didn’t go after River Run since they’re next to each other, but then feels the nice AC inside and yeah soaking wet to AC’ed room probably not the best

now this i can see being one of Akashi’s fav rides too! bc it really does feel like they’re soaring and the artificial wind blowing feels so nice and the scenery is so great and well done Disney hehe~

btw, it’s probably still daylight, yet to went to pretty much all the rides in California Adventures, so they park hop and chill at Disneyland again for a bit. go on a few rides a second time.

oh! maybe catch the Aladdin show! hehe, Akashi poking fun and like ‘well, we can definitely relate to the Aladdin story’. Nijimura like ‘what’ but then caught the jeer about him being a delinquent ‘street rat’ and yeah Akashi freaking rich kid. Nijimura gets back at him by calling him princess

they come back for World of Color at night though and WORLD OF COLOR! they got a good spot bc Nijimura was sprinting to the ticket line that morning before Toy Story Mania and yeah come first for color seating (this and here if anyone wanna check it out bc it pretty! from youtube)

Akashi finds the music and visuals shown on the water so charming and cute. Also! mini animation history lesson!

Nijimura just watched Akashi’s eyes light up before with the fireworks, now he gets to relive it with the World of Color!!

MORE FLUFF AND CUDDLES AS THEY STAND AND WATCH!!

when it ends, Akashi asks if they’re all done with California Adventures. Nijimura takes him to one last ride: King Triton’s Carousel! Akashi laughing at some of the sea creature designs, setting for a cute otter bc OTTERS (yall know how much i love otters~)

when they finally do leave, they exit the park and notice the fireworks going off at Disneyland. so they stay to watch that once more hehe~

this one is 42 points! and yeah definitely brought back my mood again hehe~ never know, i might do a mini Downtown Disney one just in case i get dressed again later. this really does work, but there’s only 2 Disney parks i’m SUPER familiar with
