Wolfstar Microfic - Knight Bus
Words: 981
@wolfstarmicrofic
🌙✨🌙✨🌙
Sirius had sent his owl, Queenie, to James before he’d left, asking him to get in touch with Remus and telling him that he hoped that the Potters’ offer of a place to stay still stood.
As he slowly dragged his trunk onto the pavement, he looked up at the place he used to consider home. Regulus was watching, expressionless, from Sirius’ bedroom window. He hoped with every fibre of his being that Reg would realise how toxic their family was sooner rather than later. He told him that he could owl him, or if they were at school, talk to him, anytime.
He didn’t want to leave him. Even if he was a massive twat. Most fourteen-year-olds were twats, he reasoned, he definitely was, but he wished Regulus could just overcome the twattishness for an afternoon and come with him. Get away.
He’d be long gone by the time Walburga and Orion noticed he was missing, and although they would know where he’d gone, he knew that once he got to the Potters’, he’d be safe.
He stuck out his wand and a large purple bus popped out of nowhere, making Sirius jump.
“Alright?” The conductor said with a half smile, “Need a hand?”
“Please.” They managed to get his trunk onto the bus and under a bed frame. "Thank you." He said, realising that he'd barely contributed. He felt so shaky.
“No worries, kid. Where you off to?” He looked down at Sirius, now perched on the edge of the bed.
“Uh, Potter Manor, on The Lizard, please.” The man nodded and exchanged a ticket for Sirius’ money. “Been in a fight?”
Sirius had completely forgotten how awful he must look. To start with he hadn’t eaten in almost five days and had only slept in small intervals during that time. The final blow had been Bellatrix announcing that Sirius was gay over lunch (which he wasn’t allowed to eat, but forced to sit through anyway) and Sirius simply not having the energy to deny it anymore.
He’d healed two broken ribs himself but forgot about his face. He pressed a hand to his nose and was alarmed when the blood looked fresh. He hoped it wouldn’t worry James and his parents too much. Honestly, his face didn’t hurt anywhere near as much as his muscles did. It was always the same after she Crucio-ed him, the pain would linger for days. But she'd never get to do it again.
“Something like that,” Sirius said quietly. “You should see the other guy.”
The conductor huffed out a laugh and headed back to the front of the bus.
Sirius pulled a book out of his bag. Remus had lent him The Hobbit last term and he’d picked up a copy of The Lord of the Rings last week and he was hooked.
Before he knew it, the bus swerved into the lane outside Potter Manor. The front door flew open and to his surprise, Remus, not James, was the one rushing toward him. He helped him get his trunk off the bus, then threw his arms around Sirius making him wince slightly, his ribs were still bruised. He clung to Remus, burying his face in the curve of his neck, suddenly concerned that he might cry. A short while after the bus clattered away, Remus stepped back and got a good look at Sirius.
“Holy shit,” he said under his breath. His brows tilted inwards and his mouth dropped open. He looked devastated.
“I’m fine.” Sirius desperately wanted to believe it. “It’s just a few cuts and bruises. I'm mostly ok.”
Remus wiped at Sirius’ still sticky nose with his sleeve, frowning. “You look like shit. You’re not fine.” He placed a hand on either side of Sirius’ face and tilted it gently, assessing the damage. Sirius tried his hardest not to lean into the touch and was fairly unsuccessful. “What did they do to you?”
“Remus, please, don’t.” Sirius shook his head. “Look, I’m out now. For good. I’ll be seventeen in November, so I never have to go back.” He paused, “I’ll tell you and Prongs everything later, I promise. I’m just so fucking exhausted.”
“Sirius.” Remus’ eyes bored into him before softening, He ghosted his thumb across Sirius’ bruised, prominent cheekbone. “Let’s get you inside before he has a coronary. I left them making your bed up.”
He took one end of Sirius’ trunk and between them, mostly thanks to Remus, they carried it to the door. Before they entered, he set it down, looking at Remus.
“I really appreciate you being here.” He pressed his lips together as Remus waited for him to continue. “I know I fucked everything up so badly last term. I’m still more sorry than I can put into words. I just— I didn’t ask James to tell you to manipulate you or anything. I didn't expect you to come, I just thought that a part of you would maybe want to know I was safe.”
Remus' face was unreadable for a moment until he sighed, “What you did was so thoughtless and reckless.” Sirius nodded sadly, “But there was no way that I would ever not be by your side for this.”
“What does that mean?”
“I think it means that I’m ready to forgive you.” He said quietly. “You were so fucking vague in your letter, and I know that was probably self-preservation, but the thought of them hurting you made my blood boil and I had to physically stop myself from showing up there. I came straight here.” His cheeks were pink, “I’m saying… that I think I understand how you snapped and told Snape in a moment of rage, or whatever.”
“Oh.” Was all that Sirius could manage.
“I’m so glad to see you, Padfoot.” Remus’ eyes flicked up and met his. “I’m so glad you’re mostly ok."

Reposting this from my one shot book on wattpad 😛
James POV
Sirius and I were hanging in my room while my mum and dad were out somewhere when we heard the doorbell ring. It was late so we were both confused about who could be at the door. "I'll get it." I walked up to the door and as I opened it my face dropped in shock.
At the door I saw Regulus, my boyfriend. Normally I would've been overjoyed to see him but right now I couldn't believe what I was seeing. With a black eye, a bloody nose, and just bruises and blood on every part of his skin that I could see, this was giving me deja-vu from when his brother showed up on my porch in a very similar condition. There was a bag next to him and tears streaming down his face, "James, my mother- she- ", that's all he could get out before he broke down completely.
I rushed to pick him up and carry him and the bag to the couch. "Holy shit- Sirius!" I yelled. "What's wro- Oh my fucking god. I've never hated that bitch more than I do now. ", He said running down the stairs obviously talking about his mother.. "Quick grab me the...", I named 3 potions I knew that my mum used when Sirius and I got hurt (which was often because of the amount of dumb shit we did on the daily).
"Okay", he said and sprinted off to get them. "I'll be right back," Reggie gave some semblance of a nod and I ran to the kitchen to wet some towels with some warm water to clean Reggie's face and some cups for the potions. When I got back Sirius was already there putting the potions on the table, trying to calm Regulus down.
"Alright Reg deep breaths for me okay. In. Out. In. Out.", He demonstrated while I organized the potions on the table and poured them into the cups. Once Sirius had succeeded in calming Regulus down I gave him the potions,"Here Reggie, drink these," he drank them all quickly. As Sirius gave him some space, I could see his face sag with relief as the potions washed away the pain.
I grabbed one of the towels I wet and keeled in front of him and started cleaning off his face. I felt his body relax and saw him close his eyes as I gently grabbed his face. I cleaned up the tear tracks and blood, making sure to be careful around the bruised area of his face.
"Feeling better love?", I whispered once his face was as clean as I could get it with water. He opened his eyes and managed a small, soft smile and whispered back, "Yeah, a little." I smiled softly and leaned up a pressed soft kiss to his lips,"Good". His face went slightly pink.
"WAIT A DAMN MINUTE", Sirius said loudly (and dramatically) but not quite yelling.
We had both forgotten that he was there. "YOU GUYS ARE LUCKY I JUST HAD A DEMONSTRATION OF HOW GOOD YOU ARE FOR REGGIE BECAUSE IF I HADN'T- YOU WOULD BE DEAD", he said pointing at me, "AND YOU-", he said pointing at Reg, "YOU WOULD NEVER HEAR THE END OF HOW HORRIBLE I THINK YOUR TASTE IS"
"Oi!", I said bursting into laughter at Sirius' dramatics. He even coaxed a laugh out of Regulus. "YOU KNOW WHAT! I CANT TAKE IT! SUCH BETRAYAL! IM GOING TO BED!", He made a show out off walking to and up the stairs.
I stood up and sat next to Reggie pulling him into my lap so that he was facing me. I wrapped my hands around his waist. "You wanna talk about it?", Reg shook his head before burying his face into the crook of my neck and tightening his arms around it. "Wanna go to bed?" I felt him nod so I stood up still holding him and carried him up the stairs with me to my room.
I set him down on my bed and gave him a pair of  old sweats that would actually sorta fit him and one of my hoodies. (It was so big it went over his hands.) He climbed into my bed and I got in after him, he wrapped his arms around my torso curling into me. I wrapped my arms around him and put my head on top of his. "Goodnight Reggie" "Goodnight Jamie"
Before I went to sleep, I swore I would protect Regulus from anyone else for the rest of my life, even if it was his so-called "family".

Christmas (one shot)
Harry Potter Marauders AU
Request: (I am combining two requests on this one because they are similar)
1.  idk if it taking requests and i don’t want to be told forward but do you think that maybe you could write one with the reader as James little sister where she’s dating regulus and when Sirius runs away during the winter he manages to get reg to go with him and it’s rly sweet bc they spend Christmas together and it’s like the start of them all becoming really close and Reggie becomes like an honorary gryffindor...
2. So I had an request with Regulus where he is dating the sister of James, and in the Christmas break he tells it Walburga and Orion but they kick him out, and so he goes to her house, kinda like when Sirius did :)
Pairings: Regulus Black x Reader
Rating: M- violence
________
Regulus stood outside of his mother’s sitting room working on getting the nerve to go inside. Today was the day that he would tell both Orion and Walburga about his relationship with you. It had been over a year of secrets and he was finally tired of it. Your parents were totally fine with the relationship so Regulus could only hope that his parents would be happy with his “happiness.”
You’re barking mad if you think that mum and dad will be happy. The Potter’s are blood traitors. They will flip.
Regulus had to shake the negative thoughts from his mind as he finally stepped into the room. Walburga sat beside her husband who was reading a newspaper. This was all that his parents seemed to do. Sit together but never speak. Regulus never understood it. When he started dating you his confusion over his parent’s odd relationship deepened. Regulus couldn't imagine just sitting beside you in silence every night.
Walburga looked up from the magazine that she was reading to gaze at her youngest son. It wasn’t often that Regulus appeared during her quiet time with Orion.
“What is it, Regulus?”
Regulus took a breath.
“I wanted to talk to you and dad about something.”
Orion put down his newspaper with a curious frown.
“Well, here we are. What is it?”
Regulus internally told himself to keep his nerve. If his parents could see that he wasn’t scared of them (like they wanted) maybe they would be a bit more perceptive to their son’s wants.
“I have a girlfriend. I’ve been dating a girl for over a year now. It's time for the two of you to know.”
Walburga immediately frowned.
“I see. We have promised you to…”
Regulus shook his head.
“I am not dating one of my cousins. I love the girl that I am with and want to be with her.”
Orion immediately crossed his arms over his chest.
“Who is she?”
“Y/n Potter.”
Both Walburga and Orion were on their feet in an instant. Walburga started screeching about the Potters being blood traitors.
“I forbid it! This relationship is over. You have no business in mixing with Potter trash.”
Regulus suddenly felt braver than he had in a long time.
“You don’t know her. Y/n is a wonderful girl. She’s smart, kind, beautiful...and she loves me.”
Orion sighed, putting a hand over his face.
“Is that what she told you? Regulus, love isn’t a real emotion. We have told you how some frivolous girl would use mentions of love to ensnare you into some trap. In this world there are only business arrangements. That’s what marriages are supposed to be about. If you let yourself become filthy by some blood traitor, no proper girl will want you.”
“I love her. Love is also very much real. I don’t care if the two of you don’t like it. You can hate it for all that I care. I will not give her up.”
(meanwhile)
Sirius lay on his bed throwing a small ball up in the air waiting for it to come back down. He was bored shitless and wanted nothing more than to get into something. The moment that he heard Regulus scream, Sirius sat up.
“Reg?”
He swung his feet over the edge of the bed and went into his brother’s room.
“Did you see a spider again, Reggie? I don’t think that it is going to get you.”
Sirius frowned, seeing no sign of Regulus in the room. His bed was neatly made and everything looked in order. Regulus screaming again made Sirius quickly turn and run down the stairs. He has a sickening feeling that he knew what was going on. Normally it was him who his mother enjoyed using as a punching bag. It was very few and far between when Walburga turned her wrath on her “favorite.”
Skidding into the sitting room, Sirius wanted to scream at the sight of his mother using the cruciatus curse on his little brother. Regulus lay in a fetal position bleeding from the nose and mouth while screaming for his mother to stop.
“Mother, stop it!”
Sirius snapped. Walburga and Orion, whom Sirius just realized was in the room, looked up to their eldest son.
“Go away, Sirius. Your brother is being punished and it's none of your concern.”
Sirius shook his head.
“When he’s bleeding from the nose, ears, and mouth it is my concern. Stop before you kill him.”
Orion finally spoke up,
“This is what he deserves for dating a blood traitor. Were you aware that your brother was dating the Potter girl?”
Sirius frowned. This is what it was about. His parents discovered Regulus’ romance with you and was having a fit. Sirius was worried that this would happen the moment that the two of you started dating. This was why Sirius begged Regulus to not breathe a word of this to their parents. How they found out, Sirius wasn’t for sure.
“Nothing is wrong with Y/n. Now stop before you kill him!”
(meanwhile)
You sat beside James as your mother put a plate of freshly made cookies in front of you. Euphemia smiled proudly.
“Enjoy you two. I know that I said no Christmas cookies before Christmas but you know that I can’t help it. I love cookies.”
James grinned and eagerly grabbed a cookie.
“Yes! I was hoping for cookies.”
He said gleefully as the doorbell rang. You quickly stood up.
“Keep stuffing your face. I’ll go get the door.”
James gave you a wide grin as you walked down the hallway to the front door as the knocking continued.
“Keep your shirt on, we are coming.”
You yelled as you opened the door. The moment the door was opened you instantly found yourself wanting to scream. Both Sirius and Regulus stood on the other side looking as if the shit had been knocked out of them.
“JAMES! MUM!”
You screamed before reaching out and tugging them both inside. Assessing the situation, Regulus looked a lot worse off than Sirius. Seeing your boyfriend like this was enough to make you want to sob.
“What happened? What is going on?”
You heard James and your mother running in from the living room. James was the first in the room and was as stunned as you. He made a b-line for his best friend as you continued to check Regulus’ normally flawless face for injuries.
Euphemia stood with her hands over her mouth before quickly “getting her head in the game.”
“James, Y/n, bring Sirius and Regulus into the living room. I’m going to get some towels.”
You quickly did as you were told. Wrapping an arm around Regulus’ waist, you stepped as close to him as possible.
“Love, please...what happened. You’re not talking and it's scaring me.”
Regulus tried to think past the pain that was going through his aching body.
“I told my parents about us.”
You could clearly see your mother spin around at the comment Regulus made. Euphemia was as stunned as you were. Sirius tossed his hair over his shoulder.
“Mum and dad used cruciatus curse on us then threw us out.”
Euphemia came back with a bunch of clean towels.
“I wouldn’t let the two of you go back anyway. There is no way that I could let either of you return to that house.”
“Mrs. Potter, we couldn’t impose…”
Regulus started but Euphemia cut him off.
“Nonsense. The two of you are staying. James, go tidy your room. I don’t want Sirius to break an ankle trying to move around in there.”
Sirius laughed at the expression on James’ face.
“I told you that you were messy.”
James grabbed his friend by the hand and tugged him into the room and closed the door. Euphemia turned back to face where Regulus stood quietly at your side.
“You two come with me.”
If anyone could patch Regulus up it would be your mother. Euphemia was perfect at healing spells. After having James Potter for a son, she had to learn a thing or two quickly before her only son bled out.
“What happened to make your mother do something like this, dear?”
Euphemia asked as she gently took a towel and dabbed at Regulus’ bloody nose. Regulus winced at the bit of pain that went through his face. Euphemia stopped, having a feeling that the boy’s nose was broken.
“The truth?”
Regulus questioned. Euphemia smiled.
“That would be lovely. After you get done tell me what the truth is then maybe you can enlighten my son a bit. His stories are getting a little old. He needs new material.”
Euphemia was relieved when Regulus smiled at that.
“I can understand that. His excuse for making a bad grade on a test before Christmas was something about asbestos.”
Euphemia chuckled.
“You’ve heard that one too.”
Regulus was silent a moment longer before deciding that it was best to tell Euphemia what actually happened. She would find out soon enough and it wasn’t like she was going to hit him. Euphemia didn’t seem like a mother that would beat her children. She was nothing like his mother.
“I told my mother that I was dating Y/n. My parents said that your family is…”
Euphemia pursed her lips having a feeling where this was going.
“Let me guess, blood traitors.”
Regulus blushed before looking down. He didn’t even want to say yes to this. For once, everything that his family stood for was nothing that he wanted to be a part of any longer.
“Yes...I don’t feel that way though. I love Y/n and I want to be with her.”
Euphemia patted his shoulder.
“No need to fret, dear. I didn’t think of you in that way at all. You may be your mother’s son but you are not her. Now I’m going to fix your nose then you two need to get some rest.”
(5 minutes later)
You stepped into your bedroom followed by Regulus. He was still holding a blood-soaked towel under his nose.
“Are you alright?”
You asked. Regulus nodded then shook his head. He looked down at his still trembling hands. He sat down on the bed before he fell down.
“No, I’m not alright. No parent should treat their kid like this. I shouldn’t be beaten to hell for being in love with you.”
You quickly took your place on his lap. Placing a leg on either side of Regulus’ body, you sat up enough to gently cradle his head against your chest. Stroking your fingers through his hair, you gently whispered that everything would be fine. Whether Regulus believed it or not you weren't sure.
“None of my friends will probably talk to me again.”
Regulus finally said in a sad defeated tone. He knew that Evan would probably give him the tongue lashing of a lifetime for doing something to be kicked out of such a prestigious family. If Evan spoke to him after that would be a great question in itself. Barty would find this the perfect chance to take Regulus’ place. He had been desperate to do it for years so why would he wait?
“You can stay with my friends. They won’t mind. James already is cool with us being together. He just had to get over that initial older brother issue.”
Regulus wasn’t sure how hanging out with a herd of Gryffindor’s would go but at the moment it didn’t seem as if he had much of a choice. He would be with you...that would be the main perk. Now he didn’t have to say goodbye again and wonder if his parents were going to hang him for being your boyfriend.
“That’s good to know. I’m sorry that he had to find out by catching us snogging.”
You were relieved to see a smile spread across Regulus’ face.
“He just had to sit quietly for a moment.”
Regulus rolled his eyes. James had to sit quietly whenever you did something questionable. Regulus pulled his attention off of James. As much as he was relieved to apparently have James Potter in his corner now, Regulus didn’t want to think about him at the moment. He had a feeling that he was going to be watched by James anytime the two of you were within inches of each other. This was going to make snogging be a bit difficult. Hopefully, he wouldn’t just come bursting into the room at any given time.
Looking around your room, Regulus couldn’t help but smile. Everything was comfy and screamed your name. For the first time, in a long time, Regulus felt safe. Knowing that he didn’t have to go back home was a welcomed thought.
Your fingers unbuttoning his shirt quickly got Regulus’ attention. He watched with amused eyes as you pushed the garment off of his shoulders.
“What are you doing? I don’t think messing around tonight would be a good idea. I would hate for your father to walk in with me between your legs.”
You blushed before pulling Regulus into a kiss. Everything seemed to even out at this moment. Regulus’ trembling hands seemed to steady as he wrapped an arm around your waist to keep your body against his.
“Oh, we aren’t having sex tonight. You need some rest.”
You kissed Regulus once more before getting off of his lap to pull down the duvet. Regulus smirked when he noticed the bunny-themed sheets.
“Bunnies?”
You blushed.
“I’ve had these for years.”
“I like them.”
Regulus commented before taking his place on the side of the bed by the door. He knew that he had nothing to protect you from in your home but it felt right sleeping on this side.
“You do not.”
You replied with a snort before getting into bed beside him and snuggling down to his chest. Regulus’ long fingers toyed with your hair.
“I do because it's all you. Everything about you is good...except when you're hungry then you get a little mouthy.”
The two of you laughed quietly until Regulus turned on his side. He was more than ready to go to sleep and forget the bad part of the current day.
“Want to know the best part about this arrangement other than not having to be apart?”
“What’s that?”
Regulus asked with a yawn.
“We get to have our first Christmas together. Happy Christmas a day early.”
Regulus kissed your forehead before snuggling back into the pillow.
“Happy Christmas, darling.”

realizations pt. 2
part one
read it on ao3
Regulus Black knows he doesn’t like girls. He wishes he did. It would make everything so much easier. But at some point, you have to accept that maybe you aren’t just a late bloomer. Maybe it isn’t just that you “haven’t found the right girl yet”. Maybe it’s just who you are.
Aside from knowing he definitely doesn’t like girls, though, it’s all very confusing. It seemed like a logical conclusion that if he doesn’t like girls, he must like boys.
But then, James Potter kissed him, and he’s pretty sure that if he were gay, it would’ve felt… special. Or it would’ve felt like anything at all. But rather, it felt exactly the same as kissing girls: uncomfortably and wetly smashing your mouths together. He didn’t say any of this to James. He didn’t say anything, actually, just left with what he knows was a terribly transparent excuse. Now, he’s in his room, sitting on the floor and staring out of the window at the few stars visible through the clouds.
Is there something wrong with him? The question has been echoing in his mind since the kiss. Well, really, it’s been there long before, but he has managed to ignore it well enough before today. It was easy to push it to the back of his mind, and tell himself that he would figure it out eventually and it didn’t really matter.
But… He kissed James. James Potter, the guy who half the girls - and several guys - are utterly enamoured by. James Potter, who is objectively very handsome. And surely, if he were gay, kissing him would’ve felt… good? How is kissing supposed to feel? Regulus has tried it a few times by now, and it has never been the enjoyable experience that people make it out to be.
He is typing the words into google before he even registers having taken his phone out. Is kissing supposed to feel good?
Most of the search results are clinical, detached articles, explaining the biological and social reasons as to why humans like kissing. Until he stumbles upon a blog post on one of those ask-and-answer forums.
Anonymous: need advice!! my friends are constantly going on about their crushes and the people they’ve been with, how much they love kissing, all that stuff. and i just can’t relate at all. i’ve kissed a few boys, and once a girl too, and i don’t understand the hype at all? i’ve never really had a crush on anyone either, i think. all that kissing and dating and sex stuff just seem like a waste of time to me. is there something wrong with me? am i broken or something?
Regulus’s heart stutters as he reads the post through. He… relates to most of it. Is there something wrong with me? It’s the same question that’s been ringing loud and clear through his head since the kiss.
The comments are mostly stuff like “just wait til you’re older” and “you’ll get it when you meet the right person”, and Reg feels his stomach sink. Is that really it? He’s supposed to sit around and wait for “the right person” to come into his life and… fix him? He thinks about James again. James, who is kind and funny and one of his favourite people in the entire world. But kissing him didn’t feel right. It hasn’t felt right with anyone.
But then his eyes catch on another comment on the person’s post: you should look into the terms asexual and aromantic. i don’t think there’s anything wrong with you or that you are broken, but if you don’t have an interest in romance/sex it could be because you’re ace and/or aro.
Asexual and aromantic. Regulus googles both terms, spends hours reading through articles and blog posts and people sharing their experiences, and for the first time in his life he feels… seen. He hadn’t realized how lonely he felt, before discovering that he isn’t alone.
It’s a lot to take in. A lot of thoughts and questions and answers swirling in Regulus’s head. He really, really wants to talk to someone about all of this. But first of all, it’s 3 AM. Secondly, who?
James is… kinda the whole reason he’s having this sexuality crisis to begin with. He is certain he would’ve figured it out anyway at some point, but it’s thanks to James that he is up in the middle of the night, buried in research about his own identity. He doesn’t think he can talk to James about all this. At least not yet.
Then there’s Sirius. Regulus doesn’t know if he would understand. He feels some of that familiar loneliness creep up on him again. He and Sirius are finally close again. After years of division and hurt and pretending the other doesn’t exist, they have a relationship that’s actually good, and Regulus doesn’t want to ruin it. What if Sirius doesn’t understand or doesn’t accept him? He can’t lose his brother again. He doesn’t have anyone else.
Should he just… not tell anyone, then? Perhaps that is best, at least for now, he thinks. If no one knows, no one can judge him for it or tell him that it’s wrong or that his experiences aren’t real. He nods to himself, settling back into bed. It’s better if no one knows.
-
Regulus doesn’t get any sleep that night. Not that he really expected to. He spends the next day dozing off in class and avoiding James. Both are working out great for him until he starts awake, feeling a gentle hand on his shoulder.
He sits up straight on his chair and squints as he looks around. The classroom is empty, except for him and-
“Sorry, did I wake you?” James asks. He's standing beside Regulus’s desk, looking down at him with something like concern.
“S’fine,” Regulus mumbles, stifling a yawn.
James sits on top of the desk next to Regulus’s. “You look tired,” he says. “Are you okay?”
Regulus still doesn’t know how to react to people showing him genuine concern. It’s not something he’s really used to. “I’m fine,” he says, perhaps a bit too forcefully. He stands up, almost knocking over his chair in the process, and starts quickly packing up his things.
“Hey, uh,” James says, nervously messing up his hair in that way he does. “There’s something we should probably talk about.”
The kiss. Reg was desperately hoping James would pretend it never happened. He slings his bag over one shoulder and starts towards the door. “I’m sorta in a rush.”
James stands up. “Reg, please,” he says. “I… I really need to talk to you about it. Please.”
Regulus sighs, but stops in the doorway. “We don’t have to,” he says in an almost pleading tone, turning around to face James. “It doesn’t matter.”
“You don’t understand.” James looks at him with big doe eyes. “Reg, it matters to me.”
He regards James for a while, before nodding, signalling for him to say whatever it is he wants to say.
James takes a deep breath. “So, er… The thing about the kiss,” he begins, fidgeting nervously with the strap of his bag. “It sorta… made me realize something? About myself?”
Regulus has never seen him this nervous. He waits in silence for him to go on.
“Shit,” James mumbles, rubbing his face with his hands. “I feel like I’ve rehearsed this conversation all day, but now I just, like… Have no idea what to say.” He takes another deep breath. “Screw it, I’m just gonna say it, okay? I really fucking liked that kiss and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it and also I’m bisexual.” It comes out as a quick string of words with no pause for James to breathe - or for Reg to interrupt him.
James looks at him; nervous, expectant, awaiting. But Regulus really doesn’t know what to say. He feels a tight knot in his stomach. “Oh,” he finally manages.
“Ah, shit,” James says frantically. “That’s right, there was something else I was gonna say, something important. I, er… I completely get it if you don’t feel the same way. I don’t want this to ruin our friendship, because I really care about you and I don’t wanna lose you. I just… really needed to get this off my chest.”
He sounds so genuine. Of course he does, Reg thinks and feels stupid. When has James ever been anything but genuine, honest and loyal? When has he ever judged Reg or turned his back on him for anything? James knows him better than he allows most people to, and if there’s anyone Reg can talk to about this, it’s him.
“There’s something I need to get off my chest too,” Regulus says quietly.
James’s eyes widen. “Oh? What is it?”
Reg sets down his bag and goes to sit by the desk opposite James. He doesn’t look at him as he starts talking. “I’m aroace. I don’t experience… that kind of attraction. Romantic or sexual. It’s… not exactly that the kiss made me realize it. Or maybe it did. But I kinda already knew. I just… wasn’t ready to admit it to myself, I suppose? Also I didn’t really know the word for it. But… yeah, that’s who I am and I can’t do anything to change that, just as you can’t change the fact that you’re bi, so… I hope you won’t hate me now.”
When James stays quiet, Regulus forces himself to look up. James is looking at him with an unreadable expression, and Reg’s stomach drops. This was a terrible idea. He should’ve known he couldn’t tell anyone. He has ruined everything. James opens his mouth but before he can say anything, Reg has pushed out his chair and is walking toward the door with swift steps.
“Nevermind,” he says, ignoring the stinging of tears in his eyes.
“Reg, wait!”
“Forget everything I just said.”
-
James finds him rather quickly, at the area behind the school that’s nearly hidden with shrubs. It’s where he comes when he needs to be alone, and he knows it’s also where Sirius comes to smoke.
Regulus is sitting on the ground with his back against a tree trunk, not caring if his clothes get dirty. James sits down about a meter away from him, but doesn’t speak, so Regulus is the one to break the silence:
“Are you upset because of my sexuality or because I don’t have feelings for you?” he asks. His voice is harsher than he meant it to be, but at least it’s not shaking.
James draws in a sharp breath, turning to face him. “I’m not upset at all!” he exclaims. “What on earth gave you that idea?”
He’s… not upset? Regulus clears his throat. “Well,” he mumbles. “You didn’t say anything.”
“I’m sorry,” James says earnestly. “I didn’t really know what to say. And you didn’t exactly give me a lot of time to think before you stormed off.”
Now Reg feels like he’s the one who should apologize. He doesn’t, though. Just stares straight ahead at the shrubs surrounding them.
“I’m really sorry I made you feel this way, Reg,” James says softly. “I promise I’m not upset. I care about you. A lot. And I, er… I may not know that much about this stuff, but I’m gonna do research on it so I can support you the best I can, because I care about-” He cuts himself off. “No, wait, I already said that part,” he mumbles, laughing nervously.
Reg smiles at him. “You hate doing research,” he says. “You avoid it like the plague.”
James laughs again. “Shut up, you wanker,” he says, shoving him gently. “This is different!”
He scoots a bit closer, putting his hand on Regulus’s shoulder. “But really,” he says, his tone more serious now. “I support you one hundred percent. You’ll always be family to me. So if you want, we can just forget all about that kiss.”
“But…” Reg looks up at him. “The kiss did mean something to you, didn’t it?”
James considers this for a moment. “I mean… it was a good kiss. And it did sorta… force me to come to terms with my sexuality. But what really means something to me is you, Reg, and our friendship. I don’t wanna lose that, ever. So… do I maybe have a teeny tiny crush on you? Yeah, I think I might, but it’s honestly no big deal. It won’t change anything between us, I promise.”
He holds out his pinky finger, and it takes Regulus several moments to realize what he’s doing. He holds up his own pinky and laces it with James’s.
“I just realized, I’m kind of an asshole,” he says after a bit. “I practically dismissed your coming out because I was so worried about my own.”
“Oh.” James chuckles. “Mate, don’t worry about it. I completely understand.”
“If you want, you can tell me again and I will try to react better,” Reg offers.
James shakes his head, amused. “I… alright,” he says, grinning. “Regulus?”
“Yes?”
“I’m bisexual.”
Reg smiles at him. “Oh, okay!” he says, acting as though it’s the first he’s hearing of this. “That’s lovely. I’m very happy for you. And… obviously, I support you, and I care about you a lot, too.”
James’s grin grows wider. “Thank you,” he says.
They sit quietly for a while, before James speaks again:
“Do you wanna come over today? Mum is making pancakes for dessert. And we can play Mario Kart.”
Regulus groans, but can’t quite suppress a smile. “Ugh, I don’t wanna play Mario Kart against you. You always win. I swear you’re cheating, somehow.”
“How would I cheat at Mario Kart?” James asks with a laugh.
Reg shrugs, crossing his arms. “I don’t know, but I don’t wanna play with you either way.”
“Okay, well… You can play against Sirius? Or you two can team up and try to beat me together,” James suggests, nudging his shoulder. “Come on, it’ll be fun. And pancakes.”
“Fine,” Reg says, as if he wasn’t going to say yes from the beginning. “But only because of the pancakes.”
James nods solemnly. “That’s fair,” he says, and Reg tries not to smile like an idiot, but it’s hard not to because at least for now, all of the worries and doubts swirling in his chest have been driven away by a warm, relieved feeling.
“James?” he says.
“Yeah?”
He doesn’t actually know what to say, so he just wraps his arms around James and pulls him into a hug. James hugs him back tightly, and Regulus feels incredibly lucky to have a friend like him.

All in the Family
Chapter 127: Out of the Fire
At first James thought the concussive, ear-splitting shrieking noise was coming from him. He knew he wanted to scream, but the air felt lodged in his throat now, because he couldn't see Sirius! Had he been vanished into an unknown abyss for dying in this future!?
They were in a very dark room and something massive was moving about, a sunset was forcing painful light into their eyes from cracks around the edges of heavy curtains only illuminating movement but no distinct shape. The rank smell of several unidentifiable things left him gasping and wheezing and he just kept flailing madly around, he wouldn't stop until he found him!
Something painfully tight latched onto his neck and forced him to bend over double, he shrieked in fury, trying to pull away and blindly going for his wand, but he couldn't find it! He must have dropped it when he landed-
"Prongs, stop, moving," Remus hissed in his ear with more stress than he ever would have believed him capable of, hand probably white-knuckled on his neck, he was holding so tight and suffocating him a bit, but it was obvious Moony didn't dare let up.
Heart still thudding, the maddening scene of Voldemort murdering his brother slowly ebbed from his eyes to really take in their surroundings.
Buckbeak finally began to calm now that all racket had deceased, but he was still clicking his beak in fury even as all of them edged as far away as they could bent double. He was standing much taller than usual, and James's eyes finally adjusted to see him perched on a bed. There was fresh hay and sawdust all around, plus a bag of dead rats sitting where the pillows should, leaning against a wooden frame like a mock bag of feed. There were deep scratches in the posts, ruining whatever design had once been inlaid, like Buckbeak often rubbed his sharp beak against it. The real problem of why he didn't go back to his meal came apparent when they saw all the blood around him wasn't from his food, but a deep cut in his front leg.
Sirius finally came into view, and James breathed in relief and tried to move towards him, but Remus kept him in the forced bow with bruising force as Padfoot began gently, "hey there buddy, wow that looks like a problem. I bet it hurts, how'd you manage that huh? Come here Buckbeak, come on, I promise I'll summon up whatever your favorite is if you let me have a look."
Maybe it was the gentle tone, maybe it was the familiarity of the person even if he was several years younger, in Remus's opinion it was just Sirius's innate ability to soothe anyone if he wanted to with that natural charisma when he unleashed it and nobody could resist. Regardless, Buckbeak finally folded his wings and made a pitiful cooing noise as he nudged his head against his shoulder and shuffled forward on three legs while Sirius kept up his inane chatter and carefully climbed up beside him, never moving to fast.
There were already some bandages and cotton balls waiting open and ready at the foot of the king sized bed, Sirius ruddy hoped someone was up here helping the poor thing out. He could now only wish it was himself though, it would be the most useful thing he'd ever done in his life at this point instead of- nope! He was doing it now, taking every care to keep chatting with the hippogriff as he cleaned the wound and wrapped it up tight. He didn't dare draw his wand to try anything else, these beasts were notoriously shy about magic in their presence.
The others began cautiously rising back to normal, and Buckbeak allowed it as Sirius began hand-feeding him from the bag of rats. His tail was still thrashing, binocular vision able to track everything on both sides of his head, but he remained at Sirius's side standing on the bed rather than trying to chase them off, which would do no good, he'd already seen Evans try the door out of the corner of his eye.
James tried edging forward, but Buckbeak spat a dead rat in his face, tearing up his bedding with his good claw as he heavily pawed the ground. Sirius reached up and pat his beak while catching James's eye with the most comforting smile he could offer. "Relax Prongs," his tone was still more honeyed than it had ever been speaking to his best mate, he usually reserved such a thing for teachers he was trying to flatter out of detention. It never worked on anyone but this hippogriff before. "I'm, I'm fine-"
He couldn't keep lying, his voice shook and his fingers began to tremble and the restless animal easily sensed his distress and began ruffling his feathers in unease. Sirius quieted himself and began running his hand along the gray feathers now, stopping to scratch in between the shoulder blades and the back of the neck, those hard-to-reach places that had him almost cooing with content and finally relaxing into him.
No, he was not fine. Of all the trouble he'd ever caused his friends, this was by far the most grievous one yet, now with Harry added to the mix! His godson, his poor godson forced to see this, live Voldemort's pleasure of murdering him! All because he couldn't do one stupid thing right and suck it up in this house. Perhaps he should take a page out of Wormtail's book and start distancing himself from them, give them all a break from his never ending catastrophes!
They watched in distress as Sirius worked himself up to a silent storm, he was clearly making the animal ill at ease as well no matter the affection given, so when Smith grabbed the book up off the ground and began reading, both startled badly yet again. Buckbeak threw his wings to their full extent and shrieked at her while Sirius flinched and had no time to duck, earning the retaliation of being thrown into the heavy curtains and sent them all on top of him, throwing the rest of the room into sharp relief.
Out of the Fire, into the frying pan, Remus finished in his head as he and James rushed forward to help untangle him while the powerful horse legs kicked wildly at the wall, sending a splintering noise in the very foundation while the bellowing shrieks began again.
Alice dropped the book and immediately bowed in apology, mildly appeasing the hippogriff enough he didn't lunge off the bed to attack her at least. He still didn't seem able to settle though, making a keening noise of longing and clicking his beak as he began pacing restlessly on the bed.
It was the most splendid thing in here. The midnight walls had silvery threads in the design up to the ceiling like veins that seemed to seep right down to the canopy that was torn to shreds, but the grandeur ended there. Regulus had only been in here once to even know such a thing was in his parents' room, otherwise it was unrecognizable as all of their things had vanished. They were forbidden from entering, but obviously that hadn't stopped Sirius's purge of the house, which of course made perfect sense why Sirius had put his ruddy pet up here.
His brother smiled, just a bit when his mates got him back on his feet and he realized the same of his own destruction. Regulus longed to throw at him it was doing shit like this why he brought so much of his own troubles on himself, he'd never really tried to make peace with mum and dad. Instead he seemed to go out of his way to do things they dislike just to complain that they hated him.
Regulus cringed at the idea of going back and attempting the same. He'd never be so blatant and in their face at it as his brother, but he didn't much like the idea of them shouting at him the way they did Sirius if he told them he had other plans for his life. He still longed for some kind of peaceful balance.
Potter and Lupin both seemed reluctant to let him back out of arm's length, but the creature refused to settle until Sirius got back on the bed with him and snapped dangerously at anyone who tried to join him. Sirius offered him another rodent carcass and waited until he'd gnashed away at it before nodding back at Smith with that calm aloof air once more he was so familiar with, it was impossible to tell what he was really thinking when he shut down like that, just how they were raised. Mother may actually be proud of him at that moment.
Now his idiot brother was going to die because he'd been in this house too long and refused to listen to anyone, but at least he'd have someone around to notice like Harry and Lupin. The shock of it all felt like an insulting blow to his world view. Sirius was going to be murdered for doing the opposite of what he'd done, was there really no right answer?
She began again in an attempt at a soothing tone like his, and though the bird head was tossed in agitation, he didn't throw his companion aside again but allowed the noise as it did him no harm and her voice was very soft, with fear. She read with dread of poor Harry's panic as he tore off for the Hospital Wing for McGonagall, who wasn't there. She'd been transferred to St. Mungo's.
Harry only had Snape to turn to for help, and that idea didn't seem to be occurring to him as his friends caught up and he had to explain the whole maddening concept to them.
Regulus listened with pity for Harry having to live through this, but something else was ebbing to the surface as he watched the Potter in here. Envy. Sirius kept looking to him, offering him that carefree smile as he kept patting at the beast and even winking at Lupin like this was some joke, making silly faces and even starting to hum a tune under his breath as he continued scratching at the animal, and when he wasn't doing that he was just the haughty Black heir. For all anyone could tell his godson was out having a picnic with him. It was a very good farce a lesser person would have fallen for.
Sirius didn't even look at him. Not to gloat this was the proper way to go against the Dark Lord, not to sneer and mock him for being up in this room he shouldn't be or even to have a laugh about it. He'd known for a very long time now James Potter was his brother's equal in a way he never could be, but this hadn't felt quite so insulting until this very moment where he clearly wasn't even going to be a passing blip as his brother was probably over there pondering what his last thoughts would be.
Frank had his hands on Alice's waist as she read, holding her close as her voice trembled for Harry's pain. They didn't even know Sirius, not really, they felt they had a better understanding of the man he'd become through Harry than the teenager who seemed so determined to ignore the proceedings.
Their aching sympathy though didn't dim their downright confusion at the circumstances. He caught Lily's eyes and saw the same confused expression as she watched him, Hermione's pertinent questions that had no effect on Harry had the three of them very worried something about this wasn't feeling right.
Sirius shouldn't have been leaving this home for this plan to be possible, but this was the same man who'd broken out of Azkaban, that part wasn't so unbelievable no matter who told him what. Why would You-Know-Who need him to get this weapon though? That was a very stumping question, and one they hoped they weren't privy to. If Harry dipped back into the other's mind and heard, the answer would give no relief to these transgressions.
Ron's answer was, plausible, but one look at Regulus didn't make it hold much weight. He'd been killed very soon after his entrance, it seemed laughable he'd even been in You-Know-Who's presence, let alone had some key of knowledge.
Ginny and Luna arriving stopped the impending argument, Harry was so desperate with anger by now that it was a miracle a plan was agreed by all to use Umbridge's fireplace to check this out.
The only one he spoke to for his troubles was Kreacher, laughing about the entire painful situation. Sirius really wasn't there, and now they may get a live version of hearing the great and mighty Black turn out like them if he was tortured while Harry was forced to watch. Neville now being in the very room with them nearly made reality splinter before their eyes.
Lily finally dragged her eyes off of James Potter's white face and buried her own away in her hands so she didn't have to see his reaction when Harry finally remembered Severus Snape was a member of the Order. She didn't even believe anymore he would have helped Harry, she didn't believe much of anything anymore. Here she was, nearly crying in sorrow for these two and only able to imagine her poor son losing someone again, and hating her best friend, what on Earth was this future? How could it be possible something like this could exist?
Something in her sparked traitorously as she looked back up when she heard him lying to Umbridge. Veritaserum was far from the only truth serum, and for him to pretend he wouldn't have any others was laughable. She turned mechanically back to Potter to see his silent screaming was still in full blast, but his wand was in Lupin's hand and he didn't even seem to care. Even the simple fact that he hadn't a reaction for Severus and only had eyes for his best friend felt right to her. If he'd gone about insulting him now, at a time like this, she'd know he was heartless. Instead she was now reasonably confident, almost hopeful again that Severus really was still in the Order for Dumbledore's secret reason rather than any plot of You-Know-Who's. Sev had no reason to lie to Umbridge and help Sirius anymore than he would Harry, but that's exactly what he was doing.
Harry seemed to miss this revelation, he watched his potions teacher go with the purest loathing once more, and she couldn't blame him, after everything Snape had done to her boy. She wrapped her arms around herself as if torn in two. Was this just another false wish then? She still wanted to see in him that childhood friend? It didn't excuse what he'd called her, but maybe if he really saved Sirius Black's life it would show he wanted to change...
Alice nearly shrieked and wanted to throw the book away from herself when Umbridge's next solution was to use the torture curse on Harry. Buckbeak was still no calmer in the heavy environment and glowered at her, but Sirius was quick to keep his attention, a murmuring promise of more spoils for him as soon as he could. He was starting to lose his composure though, they could all see the cracks now. He wasn't even looking at his best mate anymore, his fingers were trembling in the soft texture and his hair was covering most of his face.
The two had once been each other's salvation in escaping Hogwarts, Sirius fought the mad desire to try so now. Throw open that window and ride off into the sunset on the back of the hippogriff, maybe animals could come and go from this nightmare.
He knew he couldn't though, he felt like a coward for even thinking it. His friends might be better off without him, but damn it all, even Hermione was coming up with quite the story to Umbridge's face and got Harry out of that situation, the three of them heading off to the Forbidden Forest! If that girl, who hadn't even wanted to help him moments ago, thinking Harry was having some nightmare, could manage that, he'd suck it up and be there for them any way they wanted him.

Smoking was a habit you'd never entertained much before, mainly using it to remove awkwardness in social situations, but you found yourself relying more on the now, going as far as always carrying a pack on you. You knew it was bad, but quickly the steps outside of the block of apartments had quickly become littered with butts as a result of so many of you taking up the habit. The ground beneath you was cold, but not enough to stop you sitting down whilst you waited.
The click of the door was no surprise as Sirius made sure he was ready early for every meeting, however the sight of only you came as shock.
“Just us?”
“The others were called in to the Ministry early, don't know why. Figured i’d wait.” You flashed the packet of cigarettes towards him, and he slipped one between his lips gratefully. He puffed as if it was an inhaler, before passing a newspaper to you.
“Whats this?” He merely nodded at the paper in response, and you unfolded it to see what he was talking about.
Plastered across the front was a picture of Walhburga Black, looking as distraught as she possibly could without crying, with the headline “Tragedy for the Black Family.” You glanced at Sirius who had continued walking slowly even though you'd stopped. You continued to read: “Walhburga Black has had to deal with tragedy once again this year as the death of her son, Regulus, comes mere months after the death of her husband. The absence of her son, Sirius, means that-”. You stopped reading there, scrunching the pages and dropping it in your bag.
By now, Sirius had finished with his cigarette and he had squished it underneath his boot. The rest of the walk was silent; there was nothing either of you could say to make the other feel better. Only the shared deep breath before you entered the meeting showed each of you that the other was ready.
Lily was the first to greet you, standing from the long table. She tried to disguise her hug as just an overly friendly meeting, but the look she gave you when she pulled bag was obviously to elicit some kind of response.
“Hows my nephew?” You asked, ignoring her and prodding at her bump instead.
“Energetic to say the least!” You giggled, almost asking her what she’d expect from the son of James Potter, but when you looked for him you could see him comforting Sirius in a way you couldn't. He hugged him, hand pressed in the nest of hair and Sirius’ head rested in the crook of his shoulder. A hug of brothers, true brothers, James the only person who knew Sirius like they'd shared a womb.
Lily desperately wanted to ask how the walk had been, but the look of sadness on your face simply made her hug you once more. She whispered in your ear, “How did it happen?”
“They found him in the water,” you nodded your head for the next part, “ripped to shreds apparently, barely recognisable.
“Jesus,” Lily sighed. She shared one more look of sympathy before moving towards the table. You grabbed a glass of water, raising it gratefully to your chapped lips and drinking it one.
“Lets get started, shall we?” Sirius addressed the room, which was unusually sombre especially as his voice almost croaked. He cleared his throat before continuing, “The last attack in occurred just outside of London, but luckily we were ready. Only one injured, no deaths, and now we just need..” Sirius trailed off in a spiel usually performed by James, a recap of Order activity since the last meeting. He moved his hands everywhere to try and hide the slight shake, ruffling his hair or leaving them in his pockets. James and Remus sent him comforting glances, but when he’d finished he sat down as if he was about to faint.
“Y/N, I need you to keep an eye out near Grimmauld Place, okay?” James asked, sending another comforting glance, except it was to you this time. “There has been a lot of Deatheater activity around there recently, for, obvious reasons.” He trailed off, and continued to hand out assignments before anyone could dwell on what he'd said.
The meeting was over quickly, and you were about to leave when you heard a “Y/N, wait!” from Sirius. “Ill walk back with you.” You nodded in response, waving goodbye to everyone else.
The walk to Grimmauld Place (neither of you had to tell the other where you'd be going as you knew eachother far too well) was another silent one, except for the quick exchange when Sirius ran into an off license to top up his cigarettes and grab a bottle of cheap alchohol.
Thankfully, the area around the row of houses was sheltered with trees, and the somewhat busy streets largely drowned out your minimal conversations. You set up camp on a bench, sharing the vodka between you. You took a big gulp just after you watched your mother leave the Black residence, escorted by your brother.
“Fucks sake,” you huffed, earning a concerned look from Sirius, “they're cowards, sneaking around in the dark to hide how shitty they are.” “To fucked up families,” Sirius poured some liquid in the bottle cap, passing you the bottle and hitting them together in a cheers.
“To fucked up families,” you agreed, letting the alcohol burn your throat once more. You wanted to say something more, about how you've both chosen yours instead of relying on blood, and you were sure that Sirius had the same idea as he stared so intently at you that you could the reflection of the street lights flashing perfectly against his eyes.
He looked perfect. God did he look perfect.
“I’m sorry, you know,” you coughed, liquid courage twisting in your throat, “for how it all ended. I love you.”
He sighed, as if he was simultaneously waiting for those words to leave your lips and hating the fact that they did.
“Please, don't,” he muttered, both of you now more aware of his hand resting on yours. You tried to pull yours away, embarrassed at him shooting down your confession, but he entangled his fingers with your instead.
“We've got too much to lose. Ive already lost everything, I can't lose all of you too,” he sighed once more, and you were sure you could see a slight gloss more evident in his eyes, “I can't lose you. I couldn't stand it.”
You understood. Neither of you had anywhere else to go, anyone you were blood related to go running to when it all went to shit. No loving parent to hold you while you cry, no sibling to torment. The compromise of friend you could manage; pushing down the feelings was ok if it meant you'd have at least some family left. Someone to run to when you needed it.
But you were sat so close that vodka from both of your breath’s mixed between your lips, and you lent in further to close the gap. Sure, you'd just agreed to stop, but it was clear he was leaning on to.
Unfortunately, the bang of a door echoed around the road, and the pair of you snapped away to see his mother stood outside of the large house, dwarfed by the huge house, and crying. Crying? This was the only time you could ever feel any sympathy for such a spiteful, cruel woman, though Sirius certainly didn't feel any at all. He stood up so quickly that you were sure Walhburga could hear his boots as he quickly walked home.

i'm going darling, I'll step lightly Live on as if you still love me Just say it one more time Even if it's a lie, even if it's a lie

Jegulus prompt. Airline pilot James and his fav flight attendant Regulus.
James sat back in his seat and switched off the plane with a wide grin on his face. He loved flying planes and he felt it had been a job well done for the flight from Boston to London. He looked over at Sirius, his co-pilot, and they quickly went through the post-landing checklist.
The door to the flight deck opened and Reggie stepped in. “Plane is empty, Marlene is just hoovering real quick, and I’m heading out.”
James quickly got to his feet, grabbing his bag on the way, and hurried after Reg. “Hey, wait!” he said, catching up with Reg at the door. “Why are you rushing off?”
Regulus rolled his eyes. “How many times do I have to tell you to stay out of my personal life, Potter?”
“Oh come on,” James said, leaning in towards Reg. “What are you afraid of? That you’ll fall in love with me if you let me too close?”
Regulus shook his head and placed his hand in the middle of James’ chest, giving him a slight shove away. “If I was going to fall in love with someone it wouldn’t be you, Potter.”
Regulus walked off the plane, flipping James off as he rolled his suitcase behind him in his other hand. James grinned after him, leaning casually on the side of the door. “Challenge accepted!” he called after Reg.
                                                           ***
James had inherited the jet from his parents after their passing and had decided to use it as a private charter airline with his best friend, Sirius. Together they had studied and passed their pilots’ exam so that they would be able to fly the jet. Then it had just been a matter of getting cabin crew. Sirius, who had been trying to get Reg away from their shitty parents, had talked bother Reg into working for Marauders’ Air. Marlene they had known from school and had been all too happy to come aboard their little endeavor.
James enjoyed the freedom of being his own boss. While there were still clients that he had to make happy and deal with, there was the enormous freedom of owning his own company. If he’d had his own way he would never take jobs he didn’t want, but the fact was that he had three employees that needed to get paid, and without clients there was no business. James had already sunk quite a bit of money into the company as it was and he didn’t want the whole thing to go belly up. Besides, he was hoping not to spend his entire inheritance before he was thirty.
The attraction to Regulus had come a bit later. Reg had been with the company for three months and in that time James had always been very respectful. Sirius was like a brother to him and he wanted Reg to feel included. Then there had been a long cargo flight to Istanbul where Sirius had convinced Remus to come along for company. The two of them had spent the entire flight back in the cabin drinking champagne and basically having a grand old time. If they ended up shagging in the plane James absolutely didn’t want to know about it. So Reggie had sat up with James in the flight deck and the two of them had spent the long journey talking and playing games.
Since then James had been trying and failing to get Reggie to agree to a date.
                                                           ***
“All set for Toronto?” James asked cheerfully as he boarded the plane and found Reg standing in the galley.
Reg groaned in response as he took a sip of his coffee. James understood that a 5 a.m. pickup time wasn’t for everybody and they had only gotten back from Reykjavik twelve hours earlier. “How are you always so cheerful?”
James chuckled and shook his head. “It’s difficult to be in a bad mood when you’re doing what you love with people you care about.”
Regulus sighed and took another long pull from his coffee. “I just don’t understand you, Potter.”
“How many times do I have to ask you to call me James?” James asked, huffing in annoyance.
“Sorry boss man,” Regulus said with a smirk. “If you want I can call you Captain but that’s where I draw the line.”
James grinned and took off his captain’s hat, placing it on Reg’s head. “Don’t flirt with me unless you intend to follow through on that.”
Reg poked the brim of the hat, making it tilt at a jaunty angle. “Still trying to get me to fall in love with you, Captain?”
James felt a little shiver run through him at the way Reg said that. “Only always,” he shot back, placing his hands on the counter on either side of Reg, blocking him in, and leaning in slightly.
Regulus bit his bottom lip and looked up at James through lowered lashes. “I might be persuaded to – “
The door to the galley opened and James and Regulus sprung apart. Sirius was standing there, looking between the two of them with a knowing and amused look on his face. “Is that coffee?”
Regulus cleared his throat. “Yeah,” he said, glancing over at James and then quickly looking away. He slipped past Sirius and hurried towards the cabin. James had just opened his mouth to say something when the door opened again. Reg chucked James’ hat back at him – which James somehow managed to catch - and then disappeared again.
Sirius raised an eyebrow at James. “Should I be worried that you’re trying to shag my little brother?”
James huffed and doffed his cap. “Well you had to go and fall in love with someone else and I swore to myself that I would marry a Black one day. So really it’s all your fault.” James reached out and touched Sirius’ cheek, sighing longingly. “Oh what could have been.”
Sirius snorted and poured himself a cup of coffee. “You’re not my type.”
James frowned at him in confusion. “I’m everybody’s type.”
Sirius shook his head. “I prefer sensible types, you know the kind to come and bail me out of jail, not be in there along with me.”
“Sounds boring.”
Sirius chuckled. “It’s actually not. You know it’s always the quiet ones you have to watch out for.”
“You know Reg is kind of quiet.”
Sirius made a gagging noise. “Never say anything like that to me again. If you want to chat up my brother that’s your business but I want exactly zero details about it.”
“Nice to know I have your blessing.” James threw his arm around Sirius’ shoulders and gave his best friend a squeeze. “Come on, let’s go fly the bloody plane.”
                                                           ***
They had quite a long layover in Paris, having had to get accommodations for the night, and James Potter was determined to make his move. He went to the room Sirius and Regulus were sharing and knocked on the door. Sirius answered the door and grinned with understanding. “Reg, someone’s here to see you!”
“Who is it?” Reg asked, walking over to the door. He stopped when he saw James standing in the hallway. “Oh.”
“I’ll give you two a moment,” Sirius said, slipping past James and going to Marlene’s room.
“What do you want, oh captain, my captain?” Reg asked, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning nonchalantly against the doorframe.
“I was hoping you’d have dinner with me,” James said, smiling hopefully.
The grin from Reg’s face slipped away and he looked around nervously. “Look, James…”
“It’s fine,” James said, waving it off quickly. He knew something bad was happening just from the mere fact that Reg had used his name. “You don’t have to say anything. I understand.”
“You’re my boss,” Reg said, sighing heavily. “And I love working for Marauders’ air. We spend a lot of time together. What happens if this all goes to shit? You stay hidden away on the flight deck and I stay in the cabin? That would make me miserable. That or you would fire me to get away from me, which would also make me miserable. So I think it’s better if we just… don’t…you know?”
“Reg, I can’t tell the future, I can’t say for sure this is going to work out,” James said, reaching out and giving Reg’s arm a little squeeze. “But my feelings for you aren’t going away and I can’t just ignore them. And you’re a part of Marauders’ air just as much as anyone. I would never jeopardize that unless I thought this could be something good.”
Regulus exhaled loudly and scrubbed his hand down his face. “I must be crazy. I must be absolutely crazy.”
           “Reg?”
“Alright then, Captain,” Regulus said, standing up straight. “Kiss me.”
James was sure he had the dopiest grin on his face as he pulled Reg to him and captured his lips with need and hunger and want. It felt so good to feel Reg’s lips moving against his own, kissing him back with just as much passion. James backed Regulus into the hotel room so they could get out of the hallway and he kicked the door closed.
They never did make it to dinner but they did have some room service delivered about an hour later.
                                                                       ***
James sighed happily as he flew towards the sunset, the clouds looking almost unreal and taking on a purple hue against the reds and pinks in the sky. He really did love his job.
The door to the flight deck opened and Reg slipped inside with a mischievous grin. James switched the plane to autopilot just as his boyfriend dropped into his lap. James grinned as Reg stole his Captain’s hat and placed it on his own head.  “That’s a beautiful sunset.”
“Mm,” James hummed in agreement. “Romantic, huh?”
           “I’d say so.”
“You know, I’m going to kiss you in every country on God’s green Earth,” James told him, demonstrating by kissing Reg sweetly. “Starting the moment we land in Brazil.”
Regulus laughed and put his arms around James’ shoulders, his hand coming up and resting on James’ cheek. Reg guided their lips back together into another soft kiss. “Challenge accepted.”

Clumsy
Summary: (Y/N) is a Slytherin with a tough exterior. She acts like nothing can get to her and that she cares for nothing except the pride of her house, when in actual fact she is a huge softy. When she first meets Remus Lupin, she knows there’s something special about him. Her gentle nature begins to show, as they start dating in secret. Of course, Remus can’t hide anything from the Marauders.
(Remus Lupin x Reader)
Warnings: Mild Swearing, lots of fluff!

A/N: I love writing for the Marauders, so please send me loads of requests for them! Thank you so much to the anon who sent me this one!
It was the start of her fifth year at Hogwarts and (Y/N) was feeling confident. Last year had had mixed results and she was looking forward to what this one had to hold.
Dumbledore stood at the front of the Great Hall, making his usual start of term speech, but (Y/N)’s mind was elsewhere. She was debating the next time she could sneak down and visit the House Elves in the kitchens. Last year she had managed to go pretty regularly. It had taken a while for them to trust her, however after a few months they rejoiced at her secret drop ins. (Y/N) wasn’t the average, stereotypical Slytherin. Many of the students in other houses saw Slytherins as mean and vindictive. They only viewed them because of the minority that were bullies. (Y/N) was different. She was determined, clever and ambitious, like a Slytherin should be, but was also extremely kind-hearted. The Sorting Hat had had a job deciding which house to put her in, as it appeared that she had traits of a few. However, it had settled on Slytherin.
(Y/N)’s House Elf visits began when she read a book about the treatment which they receive in large organisations that they are hired to work for. She wanted to investigate these claims herself and ended up becoming rather good friends with them.
A loud cough next to her ear drew (Y/N) away from her thoughts.
“Oi, (Y/L/N). You awake over there?” Regulus Black waved a hand in front of her face. Dumbledore had finished speaking now and the hall had descended into chatter.
Although Regulus was a couple of years younger than her, he had grown quite cocky after coming back from the summer holidays. Maybe it had something to do with being the new family favourite. That’s what the gossip around the common room was saying anyway. His older brother, Sirius, was in Gryffindor. There had been a flurry of Howlers at breakfast after he’d been sorted. (Y/N) couldn’t help but feel a tinge of guilt for Sirius. He didn’t deserve any of that. If she was being completely honest with herself, she found Regulus rather annoying and would have much rather hung out with Sirius and his friends. Unfortunately for (Y/N), prejudgment was commonplace at Hogwarts. She didn’t think a Gryffindor would touch her with a barge-pole, let alone be friends with her.
“Sorry, just thinking about classes,” (Y/N) replied hurriedly, “In fact, I think I’ll get a head start on my assignments.” Not giving Regulus a chance to question her, she gathered up her things and grabbed a bread roll, before leaving the Slytherin table and heading for her dormitory.
(Y/N) wasn’t looking where she was going, marching down a corridor and straight into another student. Her bag went flying, along with the food and her wand, which rolled away from her at an impressive speed. She squatted down, grabbing her belongings. “I’m so sorry. I wasn’t…” she glanced up at the victim of her clumsiness, only to meet the bright green stare of Remus Lupin, who was knelt in front of her. (Y/N) wasn’t sure why, but she felt her cheeks grow hot. She looked down at the floor, mumbling another apology.
“It’s okay, don’t worry about it,” Remus smiled, the edges of his eyes crinkling as he did so. He held out a hand to help her up. (Y/N) took it gingerly and they got to her feet. He didn’t let go when he said, “I’m Remus. And you are?”
“(Y/N),” she replied.
“Well (Y/N),” he handed her wand back, “Better be careful where you’re running next time. I’d rather the next time we see each other not be because you’ve knocked me to the ground.” He chuckled, shot her a wink and turned on his heel, continuing his path to wherever he’d been going before she’d interrupted him.
~
It had been a month since (Y/N) had met Remus and she still hadn’t plucked up the courage to talk to him again. He was a Gryffindor. He probably thought she was Slytherin scum. Maybe he thought she’d run into him on purpose, to make a fool out of him. The way he’d looked at her though. When (Y/N) thought about his smile and the wink he’d left her with, it made her heart flutter. She wasn’t of the same mindset as some of her fellow house members. (Y/N) didn’t see a problem with dating in other houses, or even being friends with them. She was certain there were plenty of people throughout Hogwarts history who had had relationships across houses. There had to be.
It was not long after this revelation that (Y/N) was put in the situation where she had no choice but to face her fears: partner work in Charms class. Professor Flitwick called out names from a list, with the pairs the students would be working in for the next few weeks. (Y/N) waited nervously for her name to be called.
“(Y/N) (Y/L/N),” Flitwick’s voice rang out across the classroom, “And Remus Lupin.”
(Y/N)’s face flushed and her breath hitched in her throat. Damn she thought. However, there was a small part of her that was actually excited.
Remus appeared in the seat next to her, a wide grin on his face. “And so we meet again, Clumsy,” he said.
(Y/N) scoffed, “So that’s my new nickname?”
“You betcha,” he replied.
(Y/N) began leafing through the book in front of her to find the pages they would be working from. Remus sat back and watched, enjoying the concentration on her face and the way her tongue peaked out a little bit from her lips whilst she examined the book. He couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle. (Y/N) looked up, eyebrows raised. “What?”
“A Gryffindor and a Slytherin. What a scandal.”
“What are you on about? There are plenty of Gryffindors and Slytherins partnered in here,” (Y/N) gestured around her.
“I’ll bet you ten galleons that none of them are dating though.”
“You don’t have ten galleons… wait, what?”
There was a pause. Remus was still grinning like the Cheshire Cat. (Y/N) mulled over what had just been said. “Are you… are you asking me out?” She tried to keep her voice as steady as possible, but failed miserably.
“I am indeed. What do you say?” he asked. He was still smiling like he was joking, but his eyes were hopeful.
“Is that really a good idea? Like you said, a bit of a scandal. And your crowd aren’t my biggest fans,” (Y/N) bit her lip. She wanted to say yes so badly.
“My ‘crowd’ don’t know you. They know Slytherin, or at least think they do. Plus, I don’t give a shit what they think. I want to take a pretty girl on a date, is that so bad?” His tone was sincere now, no smiles or joking around. Everything inside of (Y/N) told her to say yes.
“Okay,” she murmured. Her heart did a backflip and her stomach somersaulted just saying that one word. Remus smiled. It was soft and gentle, but very clearly relieved. “No one can know,” she added.
“Why?”
“I don’t want to get you into trouble with your friends.”
“But…”
“Remus.” It was the first time she’d said his name. It felt good coming from her mouth and he liked hearing it. (Y/N) sighed. “People will judge you, you know that, right?”
“I don’t c…” He was interrupted by Flitwick’s scolding voice, calling across the room.
“Lupin! (Y/L/N)! Stop gossiping and get back to work!”
(Y/N) quickly picked up the book and began reading the page in front of her, regardless of whether it was the right one or not.
“I’ll meet you by the kitchens at 8,” Remus whispered, “I’m friends with the House Elves.”
~
(Y/N) hoped from one foot to another, waiting outside the kitchens for Remus to arrive. She was terrified of being spotted and even more nervous about the date she was about to have. She hadn’t been sure what to wear, so had put on the nicest clothes she owned: a tan-coloured pinafore dress and with a dark blue turtleneck underneath.
“Hey,” a voice appeared out of nowhere, making her jump. It sounded like Remus, but looking around she couldn’t see anyone. The corridor was empty.
Remus’ face appeared a few centimetres from (Y/N)’s and a hand with it, covering her mouth to stop her from screaming. Once she had calmed herself, Remus removed his hand. “Did I scare you?” he laughed.
“What the hell is that?” (Y/N) gestured the Remus’ body, which had now appeared, and the shimmering fabric in his hand.
“James let me borrow his invisibility cloak, so long as I bring him back snacks.”
(Y/N)’s heart picked up speed again, “You told him about me?”
“No, no, I told him I had a date, but I didn’t say with who. Calm down.” He paused for a moment, taking in the panicked expression of the girl in front of him. He took her hand in his and squeezed it gently. “It doesn’t matter if they did find out. They’d be happy that I was happy.”
(Y/N) forced a smile and nodded. “Shall we go get some food?”
The pair spent all night at a table in the corner of the kitchen, chatting and laughing. It felt so natural, so right. (Y/N) discovered that Remus had been paying the House Elves regular visits, in the same way she had. It was a miracle they’d never bumped into each other, but Remus had an advantage with being able to use the Invisibility Cloak. (Y/N) found herself telling him things very few people knew. She didn’t have a particularly close group of friends at Hogwarts, so it was nice to talk to someone she felt she could trust. She didn’t know why she felt so trusting towards him. They barely knew each other, but it felt like they’d been friends for years.
When they decided it was late enough, Remus walked (Y/N) as far back to the Slytherin common room as he could get, without arousing suspicion. He turned to her, taking both hands in his, “I’ve had a wonderful night, (Y/N), and I hope we can do this again.”
(Y/N) nodded, “Definitely.”
Without thinking, she leaned forward on her toes and pressed her lips to his. There was a moment when she thought he wouldn’t reciprocate, but when his hands left hers and were placed on her hips, she relaxed into him. Her arms wound around his neck and pulled herself closer.
~
Remus slipped into the Gryffindor common room and snuck up the stairs to his dormitory, hoping to go unnoticed. Of course, that was impossible when it came to the Marauders.
“Have a nice date?” James’ voice came out of the darkness. A lamp was switched on and Remus was greeted by the faces of his three friends, sitting up in their beds and all bearing wide grins.
“Didn’t peg you for a rule-breaker, Rem. I thought that was my job,” Sirius teased.
“What?” Remus said, playing dumb.
“We know who you were with,” Peter explained and was immediately hit by a flying pillow from Sirius’ direction. “Dammit, Wormtail. Why did you have to spoil the fun?” Sirius said, folding his arms and pouting like a toddler.
Remus folded up the cloak and tossed it to James. He began rearranging his bedsheets, praying his friends would drop to topic. Unfortunately, they weren’t going to stop until they’d got what they wanted.
“So, a Slytherin?” James asked. Remus’ heart sunk. They knew. He was less worried about the teasing he’d get from the boys and more about how (Y/N) would be treated if her house found out about their date.  Slytherin’s were a lot more judgemental about across house dating. Something about the pure-bloods not wanting others to tinge their perfect appearance.
“A very pretty Slytherin, to be exact,” Sirius added, “Rem, I highly approve. (Y/N) (Y/L/N) is lovely.”
Remus shot him a look, “Thanks Padfoot, not that I need your approval.”
Sirius held his hands up in surrender, “Just saying.”
“You can’t tell anyone,” Remus pleaded, “God knows what they’d do to her in the snakes’ den if they found out.”
“Screw them,” James said, jumping to his feet on top his bed and nearly colliding with the ceiling. He ducked just in time and hopped down. “Who put that ceiling there?” He stared up at it, as if it would fight back.
“What my stupid friend over here is trying to say is,” Sirius said, “Fuck whatever Slytherin think. If she makes you happy and you make her happy, that’s all that matters. And if they try and start anything with you or her, we’ll be there to back you up. My dim-witted younger brother may not be the smartest cookie in the jar, but he knows not to mess with my friends.”
~
Remus and (Y/N) had been dating for a few months now. It hadn’t taken long for everyone to find out, as it was extremely difficult to keep anything a secret at Hogwarts. At first, there had been side glances and judgmental looks, when the pair walked through the Great Hall holding hands. However, people stopped caring after a while. There was still the odd Slytherin or even Gryffindor who would sneer or nudge their friend when (Y/N) walked past, but this was usually shot down with a look by whichever Marauder was nearby. Lately, it had been (Y/N) herself who had plucked up the courage to defend herself in situations like that.
It was Christmas time and Remus and (Y/N) were snuggled up under a blanket in front of the fireplace in the Gryffindor common room. (Y/N) was reading a book, while Remus played with her hair, plaiting it into tiny braids.
“I have a present for you,” he said, disturbing the silence. (Y/N) looked up from her book.
“You do? But it’s not Christmas yet.”
“I know,” Remus said, sitting up and reaching down to the floor next to him, “I just couldn’t wait until then to give this to you.” He produced a small box, wrapped in silver paper and tied with a green bow. (Y/N) took it and carefully unwrapped it. She took the lid off the box to reveal a beautiful silver bracelet. It had two charms on it: a black wolf, howling up at the moon, and a green snake. The snake was decorated with silver swirls.
(Y/N) gasped, taking it out and examining it with great care, “It’s beautiful, Rem. Thank you.” She looked up at him and placed a gentle kiss on his lips.
He took her wrist in his hand and helped her fasten the bracelet. “Anything for you, Clumsy,” he laughed.

Sirius Black x Reader: because if I’m going to write about anyone it’s definitely Sirius :’)
warning: swearing and injury
prologue - part 1 - part 2 - part3- part 4
                             Second year
Time went by fast, and soon it was time to go to Hogwarts again for my second year, it’s really nice to think that last year around this time I was anxious to start going to Hogwarts, but today I was excited to go back there, not to study though , I just miss my friends. After the usual trip to Hogwarts express, I was back in the castle ready to start my second year, the minute Sirius spotted me, I was immediately greeted loudly by him.
“ heyyyyy miss salvation, “said Sirius while he gave me one of his tight hugs.  Yes, that was what he called me ever since that potion class first year, even the letters that he sent me in the summer started by it  (x, x), and to be honest, I actually like it. We were catching up, but he had a look on his face, I recognized it though, it was the face he had when he was overthinking or nervous, but I didn’t want to make the situation awkward or make him uncomfortable by asking, so I try to cheer him up.
“ hey you’ve grown your hair, it’s a good look on you, “ I told him on our way to the great hall.
“ I guess it is worth all the hiding from my mother when she wanted to cut it, “ he said to me, “Can’t say she wasn’t furious about it reaching this length, but trust me when I tell you, after this achievement, no scissor is coming near my hair,“
We were joined by our friends later, of cores we all talk together about what we did in the summer. Then it was then time for the courting ceremony. Everyone was busy guessing the house of the student that was getting sorted, Sirius however, was oddly quiet, he was even more nervous now than before, that made me curious, but worried too.
It wasn’t until a boy called regulus black was called to get sorted that everything started to make sense. He got sorted in Slytherin and anyone who saw Sirius’s face when the hat announced that, could tell that Sirius was hoping that his brother will not end up there.
“ I don’t mind him being sorted into Slytherin, but he’ll have to deal with being made fun of because his brother is a Gryffindor “ Sirius blurt out before I could say anything to him . his confession then made me upset, for some reason I never thought about how hard being a black and a Gryffindor must be for him .
“ Not when I’m around, you can count on that, “ I told him with a smile, hoping it would help him cheer up. I guess it worked because for the rest of the day his mood was a little better.
Lily, the Marauders, and I had transfiguration lessons first thing the next morning. I was glad to know that we have most of our classes together this year because last year it was like the universe was trying to keep us apart, but we still always spent most of our free times together. Professor McGonigal was going to announce the new students that will join the Gryffindor Quidditch team today after class, and James did not bother to hide his excitement about it.
“ you don’t understand, I was so angry that they don’t let first year students join the Quidditch team, I could’ve helped the team win last year instead of losing to Ravenclaw, “ James said on our way to the class, we didn’t want to be late for class, everyone knows how professor McGonigal hates late students.
“ she’s definitely letting you join the team James, you were the best at flying class last year, “ Remus told him. He was right, everyone kept talking about how he was the best at flying, and that regardless of the fact that it was his first year, he should’ve joined the Quidditch team. He also had great enthusiasm in every game, even when Gryffindor wasn’t playing. whoever he was cheering for always ended up winning which shows how much he knows about the game, and the clothes he wore as well as the sings he held at games were always hilarious and noticed by everyone
“Are you sure you’ll be able to handle us cheering for you? “ Lilly asked James and then laughed . She was sure that everyone will cheer extra hard for him, especially us when he plays, and her smile made it obvious that she was looking forward to it, mainly to embarrass him.
“ I’m actually counting on it  “ James replied to her with a wink.
We arrive at the class shortly after, and the class starts, all of us were waiting for the announcement instead of paying attention to the class, but we still had to learn the proper way to turn a beetle into a button. You would expect it to be easy, but trust me when I tell you it's way harder than what anyone would expect. After seeing me struggle, Sirius had to comment on it. He asked me how I saved their asses first year in potion class but still struggle with a beetle.
“ You tell me to make a potion to kill Dumbledore himself, and I’m the girl to ask, but just don’t make me deal with insects that just won’t stay still, “ I told him still struggling. After two more attempts. I finally do it, followed by a loud YES from me then Sirius’s loud laughing at me. Once we were all done, Professor McGonigal announced the new students to join the quidditch teach. none of us was surprised when she said James’s name, and then we all started happily cheering for him.
While the others had classes to go to next, Sirius and I had nothing to do, so we decided to spend our time at the room of requirements, no one really knew about the room except me, Lilly, and the Marauders. We decided to watch a movie, and so I was I was trying to start it while waiting for Sirius to get snacks. The fact we already had snacks yet he still wanted to get more, and that It took him a very long time to get the snacks he talked about confused me,  then I hear my name being called, so I open the door for him I knew why
“I brought more snacks, “he said standing in front of the room’s door “you won’t believe what I got “
“shut up, no you didn’t, “I said him with a huge smile on my face as I help him with the bags. After seeing that he got the extremely hard to get burgers that I love with chips too, so I asked him jokingly. “marry me? “
“Oh yes I did, and definitely not without a ring and a speech “he replied to me with a smirk. We both sit up next to each other with all kind of snacks in front of us, and I play the movie then we start watching. It became a weekly retiral for us, but we also did it sometimes with the rest of the group whenever we weren’t busy.
--
After about three weeks. I was on my way to the great haul when I was stopped by Remus, who was on his way to the great hall from his dark against the dark arts class, I assumed that everyone else was already there, but Remus was actually waiting for me because he had something important to tell me.
“ why didn’t you tell us that you’re dulling with Charles today? , I mean he’s a piece of shit and deserves to be taught a lesson, but I still think it’s a bad idea, “ Remus said. I could tell that he was worried, and he had a good reason to be because duels always ended up with people dying.
“ He challenged me, I assume he’s angry about what I did to him when it was our first year, but don’t worry we agreed to not kill or permanently harm each other, “ I told him as we finally reach the great hall.
I tell the marauders and lily that the duel is a secret, even though Charles clearly can’t keep a secret since Remus found out about it because that idiot was telling everyone that he’ll finally get his revenge. I try to assure them that it’s fine because they all were telling me not to do it, but they knew I was going to do it anyway, so they settled with giving me tips to stay safe. After we all eat, and I finish all my classes, it was finally the time for the duel.
We first made sure that everyone was asleep, and then after the bow and the wand raising, on the count of three we started. Charles pointed his wand at me and shouted “Confringo! “.
immediacy my eyes widened, and I felt furious. that idiot is trying to kill me already. I could already hear Remus saying I told you, but I wasn’t going to let him get away with it. Before the spell even reaches me, I yelled, “ Aqua Eructo ! “, and the water from my wand put the fire from his wand down.
“ can’t you for once play by the rules! “ I screamed .“ are you really that afraid that I’ll defeat you? “,
Soon I realized that I should’ve chosen my words wisely because before I knew it, he yelled, “ Mens Erupit !” , and his spell hit me before I could protect myself.
And suddenly I felt like I was going insane, and I fell on my knees holding my head screaming. James, Sirius, and Remus appeared out of nowhere with wide eyes. Sirius disarmed Charles, and I could barely do anything due to the pain in my head but through screams and tears I still manage to tell them to get someone to help me immediately, and I see Remus running to do so, and then shortly after I passed out.
I woke up in the hospital wing, I was glad that the Marauders and Lily were the first people that I saw when I opened my eyes, but I knew that I had a lot of explaining to do, and I was not looking forward to it.
“ he used the mind eruption spell on you! , he used the mind eruption spell on you! , how are you even sane ! “ asked Sirius, professor Dumbledore would probably be against what I’m about to do, but I decided to tell them my secret, I wasn’t an easy thing to do, yet I had a feeling that it’s the best thing to do at that moment.
“ You have to promise me to keep this a secret, “ I told them “ Ok so when my mum was pregnant with me she almost had a miscarriage, but my aunt gave me a potion to slow down what I was going through, so her or a healer would have enough time to heal me, “ I paused. It was only the beginning, and I could already see their facial expression change, for a second I wanted to take everything I said back, but then I realized that I know them well enough to be sure that my secret will be safe with them.
“ Basically whenever I’m injured the prosses just slow down, slow enough for somebody to heal me, and why I kept it a secret is because anyone who drinks my blood gets the same power, “ I resumed.
James then told me how they all knew something bad was going to happen, so they all hid under his invisibility cloak. Then I had to explain to them how I actually can die if I’m not healed on time after Remus and James asked if that means I’m immortal. moments later Madam Pomfrey said that I should get some rest, and I’ll be back to my normal self in two days, which meant two days of me staying in the hospital wing with my friends, who will definitely sneak out of their classes to stay with me.
----
After the two days were over I was asked to go to Dumbledore’s office, when I was standing there I could expect what I was about to hear
“ I assume you know the right people to trust after what happened two days ago y\n, “ said Dumbledore. he definitely knew that I told my friends, but I did trust them, I was sure no one will ever know about my secret
“ Don't worry professor. I’m sure my secret is safe with my friends, “ I told him as I try to stay as confident as I could, but It was obvious that he was sure that my secret was safe too, which I was very thankful for
“ Very well, you can go to your room now, “  Dumbledore told me, and I do as he says.
I decided to stay at the Slytherin common room. I was sure no one would be there at this time, but seconds later Sirius was standing at the door to keep me company, honestly I wasn’t even surprised that he knew the password. We were talking when Regulus appeared and said hi to us.
“ You know each other already? “ Sirius asked, he never really thought we would become friends that fast.
“ Yeah, she stood up for me when there was this idiot that said I wasn’t a true Slytherin since you are in Gryffindor, “ Regulus answered him. “ Anyway, I have a class now, see you both later, “
Before Sirius could say anything, Lily and the rest of marauders stormed in the Slytherin’s common room. Remus then told me that Charles got expelled and that professor McGonigal was angry that a student only in his second year would cast that spell, that moment with all my friends around me all I could think off is how I’m thankful that I chose the right people to call friends , but  while he thought I didn’t notice I could see that Sirius was staring at me, just like last year.

Note
Marauders Headcanons (that i feel like are oddly specific):
Remus wears his earphones hanging out the opening of his shirt as a statement piece rather than for music.
James is always charing something in class (also he’s the kid in primary who cried if tasmania wasn’t included on a map)
Sirius has managed to get three teachers numbers in his six years of high school
Peter knows so so many people to the point that he somehow always ends up at the front of the canteen line every break (the marauders don’t trust him to go alone because he always gets stuck in conversations)
Regulus was one of those kids who wore the school jacket/jumper everyday, even in summer
Barty did not own a school bag. He’s have a pen, phone and charger in his pocket and that’s it
Evan always took photos of the board so he could “copy the notes later” but he never did. When he graduated he deleted over 3000 pictures of schoolwork
Lily was the blessing that every class loved. She knew how to talk to any teacher and convince them to spend majority of the class talking about themselves rather than teach anything
Dorcas has a spare key to the sports shed (with all the sports equipment) (and maybe her and marlene use it to make out sometimes)
Marlene would absolutely be the kid who rode a bike to school everyday and absolutely loved it
Pandora knew how to sneak out of school, get to the shops and back during one lunchtime and not get caught
Mary spent every break in the guidance counsellors office (not for any reason, she was just a nice person and liked to talk to them)
Tag urself Im pandora and Evan except I never deleted the fucking notes they’re on there still and I graduated in 2017
Also Lily would convince their science teacher to take them to Movie World or some shit for “physics” even tho they’d be doing a unit on biology
