THE SPECIFICS OF THIS SHOT. i was gonna make a post a while ago being like "idk i find it funny that the main focus of this shot isnt even one of the poets" and then i realised that WAITTTTTTT THATS THE POINT!!!! keating reached kids besides the poets!!! u didnt have to be in the dead poets society to be affected by the way he taught his classes!!! u just had to be his student!!!!! also i love the fact that the kids who stayed seated r ASHAMED. EMBARRASSED.

the ending shot. oihghgghgg. it was SUCH a choice to set it up this way and honestly i adore peter for making it. this shot is SOOOO UNCOMFORTABLE TO LOOK AT and i love it. when i first watched this i was like "uhm ok interesting choice putting todd between this kids legs but I GET IT. one of the biggest things i remember from the film classes i took is that the way u set up shots is sooo important narratively, and one way to rly push the narrative is the space around a character in a shot. for example! if u have a character on screen surrounded by a TON of negative space then it rly emphasises how alone/ isolated they are. on the other end of the spectrum (the todd spectrum), if you surround a character in a shot with other objects or obstructions, like todd and this kids legs, then it rly emphasises how trapped and confined they are. looking at this makes me feel like. claustrophobic almost, like it's genuinely a bit harder to breathe looking at it. TODD IS STILL TRAPPED IN THAT SCHOOL. YES HE STOOD ON THE DESK AND YES HE NOW HAS THE MOTIVATION TO BE MORE CONFIDENT BC OF NEIL BUT HE! IS STILL! TRAPPED THERE!

i was also gonna add that we dont rly talk about todd personality wise outside of poetry and anxiety but then i realised, what else is there? we dont really see much about him as a person outside of that, and i think thats the point! todd is constantly overshadowed by his brother, we know that, but i dont think we realise HOW MUCH that ties in with his entire character. quite honestly, outside of poetry and anxiety, ALL we have surrounding todd is his brother and his achievements. and of course! that makes sense! his parents want him to be just like his brother, they dont care about who he is as a person. No for-sures. I don't want to make any for-sures. I have ones I'm feeling but I don't want to call ANYTHING a for-sure yet. I need to find out what the ending is, WHERE this is all going, because I have a strong philosophy in my writing that a story is like a spear;

IT'S ALL ABOUT GETTING TO THE POINT.

But we are 4/6 of the way in, so I CAN start talking about thoughts!

I'm actually leaning pretty heavily towards axing Nightheart as a POV. There's still time for the books to turn around and justify it, BUT HEAR ME OUT

(Saying AS someone who is a Nightheart Enjoyer)

So far I'm really feeling that his character would benefit from us never being inside of his head, or seeing what he's been going through. As much as I WILL stand by that I enjoyed books 1 and 2 and liked his perspectives there, I'm starting to think that it would serve the story a lot better for Sunbeam and Frostpaw to be guessing just as much as we are.

We'd get introduced to Nightheart on the journey for catmint.

Sunbeam connects with him immediately, because she's tossed on this mission while she's in the middle of a swirling tide of drama. With nothing but Clerics and a hardened Rootspring to the left and her ex-bestie (exstie) to the right, he's really her only other choice for companionship. She's chronically unable to stop problems before they get out of hand, the sort of person who becomes frozen by indecision, and then here comes this Glorious Bastard

In her eyes, he's so caring, and bold, and fun! He's the first one to jump headlong into danger, to really be interested in her problems and just let her talk, and his story is so heartbreaking! A mother who's so hard on him... and his Clan is so mean all the time, but he wants to prove to all of them that he's more than just Firestar's descendant... but he was so brave to choose his own name.................

And then, when she follows him into ThunderClan, she learns he fucking lied. She changed Clans based on SOB STORIES

When she first comes, no one knows what he's been saying behind their back. Even if they did, they don't want to start trashing Nightheart right to his new mate's face. But then he LEAVES, and Sunbeam will bring up,

"Maybe it was because you were hard on him?"

And then Sparkpelt tries to agree, just to take blame onto herself and stop all this, but Finchlight's had eNOUGH and ends up setting the record straight;

"No this is DEFINITELY another tantrum. He already ran off once before."

"NO he didn't pick his own name, he stopped the whole ceremony to complain and Bramblestar gave him a compromise"

"MEAN to him?? I had to do HIS WORK because he couldn't STAY ON THE GROUND"

"Oh he's buckling under the weight of his legacy? that must be so hard. I was cat-fifteen when i punched my first fascist and he was wearing the face of my grandpa."

"His mom aba-WHAT?? ABANDONED???? OUR MOTHER WAS EXILED AND HE STAYED HOME!!!!! WE WERE CAT-FIFTEEN!!"

With this false hope shattered, Sunbeam is thrown into a devastating situation where... her mother was right. She was tricked. And now she's stuck in this new Clan without any of her old friends, without this mate who was too-good-to-be-true, the ONE impulsive choice she's made on her own in her WHOLE LIFE turns to ashes in her mouth. She can't go back, either, because Berryheart would NEVER let her live this down.

But... it's okay.

It's a slow shock, to make a choice SO impulsive and SO self-concerned, and find a safety net below her. It's going to be okay. The trials are fair. The cats of ThunderClan interrupt and speak over each other, but, that teaches her to be more assertive. Sparkpelt and Finchlight are not the mean assholes that Nightheart built them up to be, and they'll support her no matter what she chooses to do with her possible mate.

I want Nightheart TO get better, but, in order for that to happen, he has to face, and, more importantly, ACCEPT consequences. He needs to develop the maturity to say, "I acted like a brat and didn't appreciate what I had. and I'm sorry. you don't have to forgive me."

Bottom line being, Nightheart is striking me lately as a character that works best as unpredictable, because we have NO IDEA what's truly in his head. It would be interesting for him to have a novella later, but as it stands, his POV has consistently just been a duplicate since he joined ShadowClan. We gained NOTHING from splitting the Frostpaw Journey of the newest book in half POV, and VERY little from splitting the ShadowClan one into half POV.

I might reduce the POVs to 2, just Sunbeam and Frostpaw, or change Nightheart's to Lightleap. If I NEED 3 main characters, then they should all be a consistent camera on different parts of the conflict.

Again. I do not commit to changes until the arcs are done. Nothing in BB!ASC is set yet.

But here's some other little things I'm thinking,

Bramblestar is VOTED out.

He does not step down. The little "game" he played with Nightheart to create a situation to yell at Squilf, who hasn't been his mate in a long time in BB, was the LAST straw for ThunderClan.

They had sympathy for him before that point, because of what he went through with Ashfur, but his leadership was long and controversial even before the Impostor.

And there's a really strong sentiment that IF Bramblestar had been a good leader... they would have realized he was possessed sooner. So, there are those who partially blame him for the tyranny of the Impostor.

Basically; enough is enough.

Berryheart's hate group has ACTUAL consequences. Someone gets killed; probably Antfur, who survived the last arc to die here.

More fights. This arc has been too bloodless. Already planning SEVERAL sudden, random brawls in RiverClan as tensions boil.

Heartstar is going to be MORE controversial. Not controversial enough in canon imo. I don't like how Leaf and Squilf seem like they have "hypothetical" issues with the invasion instead of being able to point at REAL ones.

riverclan didn't forget how to do the chores they've done their WHOLE lives, no. I'm going to talk about POWER VACUUMS and create ACTUAL factions that begin to coagulate in RiverClan.

if we're going to have a brainless plot about how "Well Ackshually democracy has enough problems to make us reconsider not having unaccountable, tyrannical dictators, because a vote could maybe be called over One Single Issue" then I'll talk about shit like the spoiler effect, mob mentality, and factionalism. Get the hell out of my way ERIN I'll cook

As she TRUSTS Whistlepaw? Trusts her SO much, that Frostpaw will force her to be the only witness to her death?

...which in BB, is a team of researchers. She drags herself to them, and collapses. This is why they just HAPPENED to have the proper equipment on them; they're WILDLIFE VETS.

Not sure how I'm going to handle Frostpaw's Journey though. In BB, the Park Cats are already a foundational part of Clan Culture.

In all honesty, while I HAVE to praise the fact that the Erins have FINALLY created ONE outsider group that isn't malicious or defenseless... I don't much care for them.

So I think it would be really fitting for Frostpaw to learn from MANY perspectives, starting with this philosophy put forth by the River Ward.

And she realizes-- that's what Riverstar is, as well. As a being. He is mentoring her on this pilgrimage, while barely saying a word. She can feel him wherever she is, because he isn't JUST the God of the River.

Word count: 2.5k

Story context: your newly broken up with jean and he won't leave you alone. You start to "date" Armin to get jean off your back, but during this fake relationship you start to develop feeling for him—your relationship with Armin becomes a bit...confusing. No other then any other relationships yours and armin's has its ups and downs but maybe it will turn into the real thing...

You gain consciousness to strong arms around you slowly open your eyes to look up and see armin–right there in-front of you…fast asleep. You were taken aback at first but then you remembered what had happened last night–you crying in his arms and falling asleep. You try to wiggle your way out of his grasp without trying to wake him up.

Maneuvering in every possible way you could think of but your efforts were no use. You heard armin groan–you look u to see his eyes fluttering “um goodmorning” you whisper. It takes him a second to realize the situation you guys are in and you watch his cheeks turn pink.

“Im sorry if this is uncomfortable you just fell asleep and i didnt know what to do so i-” you get up from his chest “armin i know what happened its ok i dont mind it at all…seriously.” Armin sits up and avoids your eyes..you move closer to him but he still looks away. Why can he never look you in the eyes in a serious conversion.

“Um are we gonna get ready for classes today?” he gets up and puts his slippers on–you lay yourself back on his bed “nah i think im just gonna skip today” you let out a yawn. Armin turns around to give you a disappointed face “hey” you whine and armin laughs “stop whining” he walks out of the room to go get ready.

Kicking your feet on his bed just thinking of armin…it made your heart beat, the you woke up this morning and realized that you were sleeping with armin made you feel flustered. Could you really have feelings for him–no– he's doing you a favor by “dating” you to help out with jean. If you expressed your feelings would they even be reciprocated?

“What are you thinking about” your suddenly snapped back to reality with armin standing next to you.

“Armin, can you stay with me today?”

He was taken aback by your words and he blinked profusely “woah um why?” he took a seat next to you– your asking the guy who was one of the top students to stay home and miss his studies just to please you “because i don't wanna be alone today…” you look up at him with pleading eyes. Armin look you in the eyes and fell back on his bed “but-” your suddenly hovering over him “ please armin we can even watch that one marine life show you like” trying to convince armin to stay was going to be hard but one you said marine you swore you could have seen his eyes light up.

“Well i guess i could stay today” you were so happy to hear this news that you went and hugged armin and he hugged back wrapping his muscular arms around you making your heart beat.

He let go— you pushed yourself up and gave him a little smirk, he turned around to grab his laptop to email his professor’s about his absence while you had made your way to the kitchen to grab something to eat 

Admittedly you wanted armin to stay for your own selfish reasons—to find out he thought of you and felt for you. Out of the corner of your eyes you see armin typing on this laptop with his glasses on. You’ve only seen them on him a handful of time before and he looked very attractive with them on.

Making your way back to armins room you lay down next to him “so…what do you want to do today.” 

“Oh theres this really cool cafe we can go to—i've been wanting to go for a while” he pulls up the cafe on his laptop, it fits his aesthetic perfectly—its very chill and there was even a small aquarium in the corner.

“Woah thats so cool armin.” armin had always had a way for finding the most fascinating places.This one time he had taken your whole friend group to a beach at a remote location,that was a really good day.

“Ok i have to go back to my dorm and get ready—ill come back after ok.” you get up and start to gather your stuff “ alright, ill see you later”

You walk out the door and walk to your dorm…on the way back to your dorm your mind was filled with only one thing

Your moring spent with him, being able to have the whole day with him, he occupied your thoughts.I mean when did all this start—to admit you have always seen armin as an attractive guy—but your just know seeing him in a new light. Is your guys ‘ fake dating’ what triggered these feelings? If you and him actually start dating it would be much easier than faking it every time you saw jean.

Your thoughts were interrupted by texts from Sasha berating you for missing classes and not coming back last night. You get ready in your dorm and put on the cutest and most comfortable outfit you have—you text armin that your finally ready and you hear knocking on your door and you go to open it. “Armin what are you doing here?” 

“Oh—um i was already ready so i just decided to come get you.” you blushed at the comment, how long has he been waiting for you here? He extends his hand out to you…you take his hand interlocking fingers with him. “So have far away is the place from here?” he grabs his phone and pulls up the directions “well it's a little far so we’ll have to drive there.” you had forgotten that armin drives, he mostly takes the bus or walks to places— erens was the one who was driving you around.

“Arent you kinda cold?” you were wearing a thin black long sleeve shirt, he must have seen you rubbing your arms a bit. “Um yea a little-” armin takes off his hoodie that he was wearing and hands it to you —here— he give you his soft smile and a nod assuring you to take it. You put it on and you can smell his vanilla and something wood musk and it…how much you loved his smell.

You get to his car and he opens the door for you—he can be such a gentleman, he gets in the drivers seat and you guys drive off. You watch the way that armin drives, how he pays such close attention to the road, the way he turns the wheel with one hand when making a sharp turn. “Um are you ok?'' Armin asks while he's parking. You had just been staring at him for a good while…just embarrassingly nodding your head and get out of the car and he led you into the cafe.

Staring in awe at the interior design of the cafe “woah armin look at the fish” dragging him towards the fish and you being captivated by them.

You look over to armin only to catch him staring at you and snapping his eyes away 

“Oh um i'm gonna go get a menu ok”

Nodding your head in agreement you take a seat the is close to the aquarium when you get a text on your phone from mikasa saying that she overheard jean talking about you to floch and renier. Why couldn't he just leave you alone? It had been over a month since you guys have broken up—well you haven't really gotten over it yet but you were trying and he should to and he should to

Armin comes back and plops himself down on the chair, he can tell that your a bit perturbed from your face “what happened?” he hands you the menu “ jean can't keep my name out of his mouth.” your rant on and on to him about jean and he just listens…no judging or anything he's interested in what you have to say. 

“Im sorry..im just babbling on”

“No no its ok i get it….he's just being a dick”

You too sit in silence while just staring at the menu “so um have you decided what you want.” he sets his menu down and you point on the menu to what you want and give him a cheeky smile.

“Alright i'm gonna go order” he returns the smile then goes to order—for the rest of the time that you two could have talked for an eternity. Just being in each other's presence you loved being there with him talking about life and what you want for your futures. “Oh we have to get back '' Armin checks his phone and turns out you guys have been out 5 hours together and you both have barley even noticed it.

“Why do we have to get back?”

“To study.”

You guys had missed so much work today armin had insisted that you guys study when you get back. Armin always helped you study and was you tutor for a whole semester before you had eventually given up — the two of you had finally gotten back to armins room when you get a text from jean on your phone saying he wants to talk as if he wasn't already talking about you today. You respond with ‘fuck you’ and put your phone in your lap,all of a sudden it’s buzzing like crazy with degrading messages.

You start to tear up reading 

“Is it jean again? Here lemme see.” you hand armin the phone and sends a message and powers you phone off 

“Armin i can't do this anymore i need a break” you whine after only studying for 30 minutes, armin closes his book and scoots towards you. Reaching under the table he pulls out some of your favorite snacks, he probably knew beforehand that you would get tired quickly. Your eyes go wide at the site and your mouth starts to water.

“I knew that it would come to this so i'm gonna bribe you.” he slides the treats to the middle of the table and taps his pencil on your book “ alright so if you use this formula then what does it equal?” staring at the book trying to process the problem “13” you answer and armins drops his head down and shakes it. Falling back onto the couch and you whine “ This is too hard” 

Armin who had gotten tired of your whining, pulled you close to him — thighs touching — with a stern and determined look on his face. You feel yourself become tense, You’ve only ever seen him be serious a handful of times “pay attention” he says in a low voice. Maybe he had gotten tired of your stupidity— he slowly explains the problem making sure you're paying attention with each word he says. “So…what do you think the answer is now.” he stares at you with a hopeful look on his face. Turing to look at his face “um…29?”

“You got it right!”

“Really i did!?” you jump to hug him making him fall back onto the floor — grabbing your hips putting a firm grip on them. Armin couldn't help the fact that he wanted to touch you, hes been touched and starved for so long that anytime he got an opportunity, he would sure as hell take advantage of it. “Thank you armin.” you sit up and straddle him while he is on the floor. He gives you a soft smile till he starts turning red.

“Ew get a fucking room” you snap your head to see eren and mikasa standing in the doorway, quickly getting up off his lap an sitting on the couch and armin hiding his flustered face in his knees.” are you guys going to the party tomorrow?” Mikasa sits on the couch and Eren starts to take the bottles of alcohol  out of his bag. You give a confused look to Mikasa and Eren apparently sees and rolls his eyes “Our frat is throwing a party tomorrow.” he says as he’s putting the bottles in the fridge. “Someone has his panties in a bunch today huh?”

“Well because someone didn't come to classes today and I had no one to copy off of.” armin grabbing one of the snacks on the table, just shrugged it off “ It's time you learn on your own and i had a good day today so I don't regret it.” stuffed it in his mouth. You had spent another hour or so there until sasha wouldn't stop texting and calling you “alright, looks like i have to get back now or Sasha is gonna come down here herself.” you get up from the couch and immediately does armin too.

“Oh um i can walk you out.”

“Yea that’d be nice…”

A whistle could be heard from eren across the room as you two get up. You two walk out of the door and armin closes it behind him “ Thanks for hanging out with me today armin...seriously it means a lot.” you look up at him—fidgeting with your fingers. “No no i should be thanking you…its really fun being around you—you make me feel so…safe and comforted.” 

At these words you fall into to hug with armin— snaking his arms around your body, you pull away to look up at him. His eyes were so beautiful…unlike anything you’ve ever seen, they were blue like the ocean and every time you look into them it's like he was drowning you in them every time you looked at him. You just stare…your so infatuated with him, then pulling back.

“So whats this I hear about a party huh? Am i not invited?” teasing him there was almost a party there every-few weeks at the frat. You’d go almost every time just to let loose all of the stress of exams “ are you gonna go..” armin almost never goes to any of the parties— he opps to watch documentaries in his room. People say that armin is antisocial but he's just introverted.

“No i dont think im gonna go” an answer you had heard far to many times.This could be a opportunity for armin to finally reach out and let loose 

You pout and he cracks a smile 

“Yk jeans gonna be there might be a good time to get back at him.”

He stands the there and gives you a disappointed look, he knew full and well how much jean had affect you yesterday,  now you wanted to get your revenge and he knew that he was going to be an intricate part in that revenge.There was no way to get out of it, sure the thought of how you were going to use he made him nervous but there's not a thing that he wouldn't do.

“Do i have a say in this?”

“No you dont.”

With a heavy sigh he let out from his chest he had agreed to go with you. A devious smirk has spread across your face, that you tried to hide from him.

“Bye armin” words that hummed out of your mouth as you walked out of the building and you knew the exact way to use armin to make jean jealous...

M a n,, i used to love bnha so much - it's kinda sad to see how like. It's gotten This bad(?) Rushed(?) Over-the-top(?)

Like, the main thing thats SO disappointing is the quirks,,, each one had established traits or properties, and Yeah - they can grow or evolve a bit, bnha was SUPPOSED to be about being in a hero school and about learning and improving. If one of 1-a had trained and improved their quirk , or discovered a new way to wield it - great! 10/10 tha's growth baby

Anyways, apart from the previous mentioned example of a quirk 'changing' -The idea of each quirk having their set in stone limits and function is a real good way to show off characters!!!! In a battle, or even in rescue situations, we could see each member of 1-a use their quirks differently, how some are more suited for different tasks, how some limits have to be worked around etc

In battles especially -it would be satisfying to see a character use their skills and quirk Cleverly. Using the surroundings around them to their advantage, trying to use their quirk in new ways whilst still battling their limits,,

BUT. Instead i feel like all battle wins or 'improvements' arent. Earned??? The quirk will just 'power up' or 'evolve', (cough cough bakugou), or theres just the kinda. 'Im gonna yell harder and be more determined, so im STRONGER than u now >:] ' kinda vibe,,?

Im not a big bakugou fan lol, but even i would think it would be better to see him fight, if his battles revolved around thr quirk we know he has and how he wields it and how his strategy goes. Instead of. OH, suddenly he can do this now without any prior hinting to it or without it even MAKING SENSE for his quirk to be capable of,,,,,

I dont know if im phrasing this right tbh,,, its just something thats such a let down for the series :[

I think if the academia part of my hero ACADEMIA was longer, it'd pay off better with seeing these new 'abilities' being learnt or discovered naturally in the story,, even the more. Out there quirk evolutions would be a bit easier to accept then lol

Now the series kinda has no stakes?? Because you cant get a feel for a battle, if randomly a new power is unlocked that completely changes the tides of it with no warning, or if randomly one character is just Stronger than the other and nothing else,, theres no suspense, if a character is at a disadvantage - we dont read that and get excited for how the character will creatively get around this set-back. They'll just 'get strong' i guess,,

All of this. MHA as a series had immense potential. There were moments in it where I enjoyed what I was seeing. Sadly MHA crashed and burned so quickly.

theres multiple things about the new server that i do enjoy i love the new mods and i mean lootr is so awesome for dungeons and theres a lot more cool blocks and decorations to build with and i think bounties are actually fun to give people stuff to do and i love the new world and everyone starting from zero and new builds.

but theres also the cons! i truly would not have minded the economy system if it wasnt so invasive to the gameplay. i dont mind “money” being established when it comes to buying silly things like cosmetics or the plushies or generally things that dont impede you being unable to craft. i understand why everything is behind a paywall, i get it, they want to really promote this system and get the players involved but its such a drastic shift from being able to simply craft a waystone.. to having to pay for every single one you want. it’s rough. it dont see the point really in having a mod in the game but locking it behind money and removing essentially its utility to the players. with every con though theres pros like its interesting to see how players develop transportation for themselves to get around easier i mean points towards foolish have you ever seen a man so dedicated to breeding fast horses. but again that doesnt lessen the unfortunate aspect of waystones, warpstones, and such being less available.

i dont see the point in putting the nether behind a paywall i dont get why they have to grind for it as if they havent waited long enough and tried millions of things go get the nether already. its odd. though again i think these choices make sense in the story like the island is being run by a new character mr bunny and he’s obsessed with money so it makes sense for the players to live in this capitalistic hellscape where they need to even pay to teleport. i think it reinforces the power and imbalance between the federation and the islanders. they thought they had it bad but they continue to make their lives worse. i think all of this works actually really well in the story my issue is that when you look at it from any other lens its not fun. it feels unnecessary and forced onto the players, which again makes sense in the story, to partake in. idk i think if the admins wanted to delay the nether being opened then they couldve just done that without the collective spending. it feels really weird. i always wanted the nether opening to be this cool grand lore moment but it feels like its just going to be “woo u wasted money congrats here u go” not nearly as thrilling as if the players idk uncovered information from the federation and the bunnies and found a way to make a permanent functioning portal that would lead to this opening moment.

the whole thing with the coins is such a shame because i wanted it to be good but as of right now it doesnt bode well with me. also makes me question what about all the players duck coins they had earned prior to the reset? where did those go? once they go back to their old builds can they deposit that money?

i wouldnt even say earning coins is hard like the admins have offered a variety of ways to get coins my main issue is all the things behind these payments with the coins. i dont get the nerf with waystones i dont get why. i dont know. i’d like to have a genuine chat with the admins over what the future of the smp looks like to them and what their aim is with all these features. i want to understand better so im able to watch and know what the point is before simply criticizing ignorantly. but im sure they’ve received a lot of negativity already and i dont want them to be discouraged. im just honestly curious like the beginning of purgatory was confusing and jarring but once we got the premise of what it is and what its purpose is meant to be in relation to the server i personally ended up enjoying it throughly.

If the game can get away with "You can become a millionaire overnight by selling turnips", I don't think "the town somehow exists with a totally different political organisation than the country it's in" is that egregious, because it's in keeping with the way the game's setting is kinda in a bubble.

honestly i agree about going for money in life cause rich ppl get to do so much but us average folk are like too average to have a lavish lifestyle as theirs. heck id even do music if i had any talent not just for money but the things these groups get to do nowadays versus what life was like before social media came about is a huge difference. sometimes its just a matter of being either too old or not young enough to do something like that nowadays as most music groups seem to sadly be getting younger and younger, i also feel like for those who have actual talent honestly id just go for it but theres always smth like age or different circumatances or perhaps not getting the right opportunities either or being somewhat limited in options. i do think life gets to a point where theres fewer options the older you are as its best to learn from a young age in order to succeed and gain that money. idk these are just my opinions you can disagree if you want.

Hello! So, I don't remember when I said "going for rich people is a good plan" or whatever but I mean there's points to both sides. To accumulate that wealth you need to be willing to put the hard work in, even if you marry into it. If you're a child of a wealthy family, you need to put in the work to maintain that wealth and legacy. It's a chain of hard work - I personally think you can do anything whether you're old, young, etc. It's just a matter of your mindset and how much work you're willing to put in! These days, it's mainly more about the connections you have and the hard work you put in. Social media can make you famous/popular, but it cannot single-handedly generate millions unless your life goal is to be an influencer doing TikTok dances 5 times a day for a living. I think learning certain skills (e.g. budgeting) are important and can help you establish that wealth earlier on, but you can always teach yourself. I have no prior experience owning a business, but the skills I learned throughout daily tasks over the course of my life have helped me to reach a point where an idea is starting to blossom into an actual product. And I agree, being single gives you more time to work on yourself to allow people to enter your life without the situation feeling forced. You get to become more comfortable with yourself, you make life-long connections/friendships, you develop hobbies, stories to tell your future friends, etc. It's a time to establish yourself and experience personal growth when you're single, not stress over finding a new relationship!! I think each relationship, friendship, etc brings a life lesson alongside it - so it doesn't matter whether that person is the person you intend to marry or not. Just enjoy the present without panicking about the future, that's the best advice I can think to tell everyone as well as my past self <33 It is quite sad, a lot of idols seem lonely. Jackson Wang is a prime example of this, he's expressed this loneliness a lot. Idols have the right to be happy without their "fans" criticising them for wanting a future where they have a family or just aren't dancing on stage anymore. That is quite narrow-minded, I think it'd be better if netizens and delusional international fans took a break from Kpop content for a month and got some hobbies, worked on themselves and enjoyed life for a bit. To an extent, I do pity some idols FS that I read for. They seem very closed off/introverted and would not do well if the relationship were to get leaked to the media, especially if their information is also leaked and they are a non-idol. I just hope they will be alright and fans will be more accepting sooner or later ! Idols ideal types may not always be the kind of people they'll marry - but they do definitely know what they like in a person. Fans do need to accept that the most likely case is that it is not them! However, the industry thrives off of parasocial relationships. It's fine, no worries! well okami is my all time favorite the art & the music & the message/story are all just incredible theres not a single time ive finished it i havent cried. i absolutely adore ryoshima coast ive spent so many hours just running around there to listen to music. which fun fact for u i only know about this game bc in about 6th grade i picked up okamiden bc i thought the little doggy was cute & was like fine i'll play as this boy if i get a cool dog and u cannot imagine how excited i was to find out u DID play as the little dog. i was SOOOOO obsessed literally my exact thoughts were 'if issun is ammy's celestial envoy then i am going to be chibis' i have a metric fuck ton of fan art i did at the time bc i thought it was quote "the epic-est game for ds ever" also cried every time i finished it. i was 13 so i didnt know what "being down bad" was but do know i was as obsessed with kurow as i was with d-ne later and now tenshi not a single irl friend was unaware i was in love with him. also fun fact for u bc at the same time i was also getting super into vocaloid i was so convinced my vocap name would end up as chibiP to the point i named myself that in pkmn x chibiP after chibiterasu of course. please enjoy my banger old art which is not even a fraction of my output

yume nikki is my next favorite game specifically the og that changed my brain chemistry as a kid. i adore that game so much its hard to put it into words. its just so unlike anything else. there is absolutely nothing in the game that can directly harm u theres no real health meter theres no way to die during the main play the absolute worst that will ever happen is u get stuck or woken up. in a horror game. which is already just amazing. and the whole horror aspect just plays on something i dont think is often done as well in many other things. ur alone. u wander and wander thru worlds that loop and connect and seemingly have nothing to do with each other. theres no dialogue; talking to npcs just gets u a noise or animation at best. ur entirely alone with just urself. its all dreams so u know everything is of madotsuki's own creation, another layer to the all u have is urself feeling. the art is just unusual i cant even say any of it on its own is in anyway scary. the whole thing shouldnt be scary and yet every time i start wandering in a world i cant help but feel unease. amazing 10/10 no other game will ever have what this gave me.

everyone knows i play pkmn the best is still pmd sky that also rewired my brain i still cant play it without crying.

its been a long time since i was really just playing it as the chapters released & got translated but 1bitheart is so so so important to me too. i dont kin for multiple reasons but if i did nanashi would be my first choice. like- without saying that to her i got my one irl friend to play once & when she saw how nanashi was she turned to me and went "this is just you" hes very important to me even now. absolutely loved the whole friendship sim & the story & its twists & the endings & their implications left me in shambles at 1 am on a school night. my fave charas are nanashi enri & saaya btw. i should replay this.

i also love the etrian odyssey series i love the character portraits (esp with the more recent games' color customization) i LOVE the dungeon art & i think all the monster designs are so cool. adore the whole make ur own map aspect keeps me so entertained to take a step & look around & chart all the walls & path ways. unfortunately i fucking suck at every single one i am not very good at strategy games so i end up stuck at or before the 3rd stratum. but thats okay its still fun to me.

the other one i'll talk about at length is spirit of the north another game i loved the art of. u play as a fox & get a partner spirit fox & i just love it SOOOO much. its also a game with 0 dialogue but theres A Lot going on it if u care to follow along & explore & dig into details & the game play is also pretty fun to me. this is the one game i started learning the speedrun btw thats also a very fun way to play it but ABSOLUTELY play it as intended first it has so much to offer

ohhh hold on this is a rly good question i think abt a Lot actually.

ok getting the first bit out of the way, love a good monstrous transformation. fast, slow, its all good. i personally like gradual slow shifts the most but its a situational thing. transformation is one of those things that like just always has to be symbolic. even more than the degree to which Everything is symbolic ya know. so like context rly matters when it comes to how to invoke it most effectively.

MOVING ON

i think from the phrasing of the ask ur looking for something more along the lines of like. for example shapeshifters as representation of nonbinary people or aliens as representation of different cultures rather than like monsters vs humans as allegory for racism. but im also not sure you can meaningfully separate the two! the latter i think is more overused so it like registers more as an immediate red flag, but its like. if the aliens from avatar werent being violently invaded by humans it wouldnt make like their reskinned stereotypical indigeneity anymore tolerable i dont think.

which isnt to say i think every story that draws connections between fantastical fictional species and real world people are inherently bad. i dont really think theres any trope that i believe cant be handled well by anyone under any circumstance. the super easy fix to bad rep via monster or fantasy creature characters is basically just have actual humans who also represent those same identities and communities and experiences so that the audience isnt drawn to connect the traits of any one group with your fictional species.

the harder fix is to like seriously analyze why you want this character to be a monster and what that says about them and what that says about you and your own experiences and biases and what you actually want to communicate with the inclusion of this character. and when applicable hire a sensitivity reader. its kinda crazy how many pieces of media seem to prefer half-assing the hard way over just doing the easy thing and not assigning the status of token minority to a literal monster.

of course once again all of this is ya know circumstantial. im speaking to like my own experiences and the things ive observed. and its weird too! bc im also speaking as someone who like is trans and nonbinary and thinks of myself and my gender expression as inherently intertwined with monstrosity. and as someone who is autistic and thinks of myself as a changeling. and as someone who is a fat person who represents themself with a pig themed sona. if i talk abt cringeass hollywood blockbusters engaging in High Fantasy Racism i feel like to be fair i kinda have to talk about independent own-voices creators who write stories and make art about their own identities in the lovely language of monstrosity. theres not rly a way to draw a hard line around the former without the risk of catching some of the latter.

so umm as usual i dont rly have a snappy all encompassing answer for how i feel abt this kind of characterization. im simply too much of a Nuance Enjoyer. i do i guess think this is something that generally turns out better when it is someone making art about their own experiences, but also unless i believe minority artists are a monolith, which i dont, i need to accept that artists will inevitably make stuff that is beautiful and resonant to some people and totally repugnant and offensive to others, and that both of those responses can be like totally justified and correct. thats art babey!

anyway slight digression but i think any case where a character feels more like an allegory than a fully fleshed u know Character is gonna flop for me no matter how relatable it is. tbqh, id rather more ppl try and fail to make beautiful grotesque frightening sensually moving monsters out of their lived experiences and their empathetic connections with others than succeed at creating bland toothless universally approachable Good Rep tm. if u know u know. if u feel me u feel me. that is all.

I honestly have no idea idea what im doing really but i guess you'll just have to listen to me ramble about something i enjoy. Seems to fit the theme we've accidentally settled on and well! if theres one thing im good at rambling about its bl fanfiction. i read ALOT of fanfiction. like 13million words worth of it in 2023 alone (an estimate but i did the ugly math for jan and feb last year and id already read 2.7 million words so i dont think its too high an estimate).

ive read fics from too many fandoms to count and also have way more hyperfixations then any one person has a right too but the one that has owned my ass consistently for the last 4 years is The Untamed otherwise know as Mo Dao Zu Shi (MDZS).

The lovely Eucalyptus from week 2 was watching the untamed during covid (and holy shit what a wild ride that was) and the next thing I know im neck deep drowning in fan art and tiktok edits of beautiful chinese men that have no business being as talented as they are (Im looking at u Wang Yibo) This. shit. fucked. up. my. life.

then i turned to my good friend AO3 (love of my life i could not exist without you) and 4 years later ive read my tags dry. if its complete, ive read it. im getting desperate and ive started reading works in progress, yikes. its so risky i honestly cannot tell you how much anxiety it gives me. ive been burnt too many times.

Is there any non-spoilery way you could talk about how isat isn't just about timeloops? because like I do want to check the game out eventually for sure if only because indie fun times but I'm busy for a while before I get the time and tbh I'm just not as curious because I don't know how it's gonna break that formula (also ngl no colors makes me lose 50% interest because I like. looking at colors. lots.)

UHM OK WELL UM. hm. how DO i do this without spoiling anything. im very not good at describing things especially things i Really enjoy so how do i put this . hold on i might need to look at some reviews so i know how to words. ok

as a disclaimer i havent fully interacted with a lot of (if any??) media that has timeloops so i cant say for certain what it does differently from similar media that makes it stand out from others. at the same time ive never seen something that is so directly About Timeloops in this way even if i consider stuff ive heard about in passing but i could be wrong (madoka n utena come to mind ?). ill try to think abt the things that arent Just timeloop related plus the stuff u mentioned and hope that helps it feel more interesting and less generic?

i think one of the main things i can say is that it Really makes you feel what the protagonist is feeling. more than anything ive ever watched or played or whatever . and thats saying a LOT given how much i empathize with protags in games. and its not even just an empathy thing here. both the story progression and the gameplay work in such a way that you experience pretty much everything the same way they do, while still having their own personal stuff u can learn about of course

on that note tho. that is actually something to be careful of for a few reasons. i know ur generally pretty good with darker content so i doubt thatll be a problem for u here (its not that bad tbh but there is IS a warning when u open the game/look at the steam page and it aint lying) but. due to the nature of timeloops. it CAN get tiring and this is very much intended. and this helps a lot w the story and themes in a way that its. like. think how kh days does repetition on purpose. its a lot like that (although i had way easier of a time getting thru isat than days? i cant remember how u feel abt days' gameplay but i think it was positive ? either way getting thru isat was way more bearable than days imo). it does do a good job at balancing this with a couple mechanics that mean u dont have to repeat everything all the time (i had like. Very few actual full loops by the time i finished) and theres ALWAYS new things happening, even if ur super thorough with everything. its pretty easy to do things at whatever pace u feel like and if u wanna focus on the main story only to make it easier it wouldnt take too much away from the experience (tho i do encourage talking to the npcs at least a few times), and theres always a goal to work towards. also dialogue skipping and the banana peel are ur best friends

sort of adding onto that. it really, really helps that u are sharing the experience with the protagonist. not only does that help u relate to them (even if u dont share as many traits w them as i do akvdjsn) but theyre probably the most beloved character in the game and for good reason!! its really fun to see their interactions with the rest of the main cast and the npcs, and watch them all develop in different ways throughout the game. and my goodness all of the characters are beautifully written - at first ur kinda thinking ok its a ragtag group of sillies in an rpg whats new. but their personalities and relationships and hobbies and problems and everything about them is just so well done.. they feel so natural. human even. every conversation feels real to me. one of the main themes of the game is the concept of change, and each of them represent and approach it differently, both positively and negatively. its hard not to fall in love with them as individuals and as a group because they just have so much going on, even the ones i didnt expect to like at all!!

the worldbuilding is also a fun spin on fantasy rpg worlds. it mostly revolves around the area u play in bc well. of course it does. but its vv interesting to learn about all the different cultures within the world and how they interact with and build on the themes of the game. theres all sorts of queer stuff going on and its all handled like a love letter to people who relate, and i can feel it even with what i dont relate to at all!! the way "magic" works and the ways people use it in battle and everyday life is super cool too, makes the whole thing feel a lot more believable and realistic :3 i dont wanna talk abt any specifics bc its more fun to learn abt this stuff ingame

OH AND THE TEXT.. EFFECTS?.. idk what to call that but the way dialogue (both internal and external) is written and programmed is funky as hell (affectionate). it was weird at first bc oftentimes (mostly for humor) its like. almost the way i type actually?? which feels strange in a legit game but it Works. it works so well and adds tone and vibes and a Voice in a way u usually cant get in a game without any voice acting. deltarune is also good at that but this one does it differently enough for me to consider it unique

HAVE I MENTIONED THE ART STYLE i love the art style . its so charming and expressive especially all the talking sprites n battle portraits. simultaneously silly n adorable while fully capable of being serious. and creepy. anyway look at the sillies i love them n their designs dearly (especially Siffrin (1st on the left) and Mirabelle (2nd on the left))

also on that note, the lack of colors....... i both totally understand being put off by that (i also love looking at colors n this part made me feel weird abt it when i was thinking abt getting it at first) and personally enjoy it? without saying anything spoilery (bc its really not), its just another part of the worldbuilding and themes that i now find really fun :3 should be noted that i usually have an anti blue light filter so it mightve been easier to look at w the yellowish tint going on. maybe it even looks better that way ? kinda reminded me of old films now that i think abt it.. neat!!

as a last thing i couldnt quite insert somewhere else. it is equal parts a comedy and a tragedy, and it is so, so effective at accomplishing this. the humor is fantastic and adds to the games' and characters' personality, every tragic moment is . for lack of a better word or phrase. absolutely fucking delicious. and i adore how well it can shift from one to the other gradually or in an instant, or just be both at once!!!! yippee!!!!!!!

aaand thats all i can say. i have no idea if that cleared anything up BUT i encourage u to give it a try bc i do think youd like it in the end. u probably wouldnt finish it as fast as i did but that might be a good thing jfbskndj but yeah!!!! in stars and time!!!!!! its good and i love it!!!!!!!!
