Dear Undertale,

I know it's silly to refer to a game with "dear" and as if it was a person.... But you're just so dear to me. You helped me so much. You were there in my most important moments. You were there when I was stuck in quarantine, when I lost my (toxic) best friend and now, when I end school. You helped and comfort me so much, you shaped me as a person. You taught me how to be determined and kind to other people. The community of fans taught me about the importance of sentence "love is love", and how important freedom is. Thanks to you and the fandom I was determined to learn how to draw and now...? Drawing is my biggest passion. Now, I can't imagine myself not loving art. You and community, all the aus inspired me so much...You taught me that crying is okay and that no matter what I should be myself. That being me is okay and I'm loved....Because.... Someone really cares about me. Even if sometimes I don't feel like it. It's still true.

Again, thank you Toby Fox, Temmie Chang and others for creating Undertale. The game that changed not only internet but also hearts. You were there for almost a DECADE. And it's shoking how fast time flies...

And message to you all, STAY DETERMINED! Because one day it's gonna be okay, because you're loved, because you are amazing, interesting, beautiful, no matter what you think.

Despite everything, it's still you. So stay determined for yourself.

Month of Saiyuki (day 12)

What is another series (TV, Manga, etc.) that the Saiyuki characters could fit in?

Ultimately I image them in a videogame series rather than TV series or manga. I picture them in Undertale scenario XD it is nice to see them trying to interact with monsters without killing them. I think they will immediately realize monsters are not dangerous. Plus I have this image for months of Sanzo trying not to shoot Temmie after she said to pet this cute human XD (in the game once you reach Temmie Village, one of them wants to pet you because he/she/they think Frisk is a cute human).

I'm entering dangerous territory right now, but I just feel like this has to be said.

"Frisk" from Undertale. Is whoever you want them to be. Because they're a self-insert protagonist.

There's no canon age, no canon name, no canon anything. "Frisk" is the default name but, you can go by any name you want.

The reason I'm going into this territory is because I've seen folks in the fandom yell at people with "Uh- Frisk is a non-gender child, please respect them". When there isn't a drop of evidence of this. Because that's not the point of "Frisk".

If you're a girl, than to you- "Frisk" is a girl. If you're a boy, than "Frisk" is a boy. You're non-binary, than "Frisk" is non-binary. And so on. Or maybe you go by visual appearance and go with what you feel "Frisk" to be. Because again:

"Frisk" is meant to be you. The player. Or an OC, however you want to play. That's the point.

If you see "Frisk" as Frisk, a non-gender child. Than that's fine! Don't bash anyone who does self-inserts and does their own OC of "Frisk".

If I want to play Undertale and name my "Frisk": Kitty. And play as a stupid 27-year-old woman with cat ears who fell down to monster town. Than that's what I'm going to do.

Now, to this part. The "but, in Undertale, they say-" stuff.

"Toriel calls you "Child""

She's an immortal being with children. Of course, she's calling you child because everyone is a child to her.

"Sans calls you "Kid""

There are adults my age who call another adult the same age "kid". It's a thing. Some people just do that. Does it make sense? No.

"The little monster boy in a striped shirt calls you a child because of your shirt"

Not to be mean but, I wouldn't take the word of that character. He doesn't know any better, he's just a kid. And, AGAIN, monsters age differently. Who knows how long he's been alive. He follows you, a complete stranger, through dangerous areas. Even when you're doing the genocide route. So, yeah.

"Toby Fox confirmed that Frisk's age is 16"

... This is a big one. Hold on.

Like the guy but, yeah, I wouldn't take everything he says too seriously. He does confirm that the dog is him. Temmie is his friend who helped him with the game. And all the characters are inspired by his friends. He's even said it's weird seeing characters based on him and his friends being shipped. That's it. Everything else is him being a troll. He's an ass and we love him for it.

Also, I want to be clear- I'm not doing this to defend ships. I use to be a shipper but now? Meh. Whatever. I'm doing this to defend players/artists who have their own versions of "Frisk", especially under different names.

So... Yeah. That's it.

At the end of the day. "Frisk" is an empty husk protagonist that comes alive thanks to you, the players. You create "Frisk" however you want. Whether you play as a non-gender child named Frisk. Or a 27-year-old woman named Kitty. What matters is how you enjoy the game and what story you want to tell.

Edit: I did, in fact, forget the part that at the end of the True Pacifist route, that Asriel says your name is instead Frisk. Which, I gotta say, it's no wonder I forgot about that part. It doesn't work well. No offense to Toby but, that takes away the roleplaying experience. I still stand with what I said though.

hi ! i was wondering what games/media inspire your projects, and are there any games that you would recommend playing if i am highly interested in your works and works like it ?

Hi anon. This is a thoughtful question. I forgot to answer it for a few days, sorry lol.

I feel like everything I ever consumed probably amalgamates into one big glob of ideas in my brain so that question is hard to answer, but for the most part I play random indies I find on itch.io... I feel like I don't watch/read enough things, and when I do it tends to be me catching up on (usually cult classic, but i will watch anything that catches my eye) anime/manga I missed way too late (see: me watching lain for the first time recently). shimeji simulation, yokohama shopping log, and alien9 are some mangas that have wormed their ways into my heart this year too. Life experiences also tie into my works a lot obviously. It's all really dependent on the specific project.

as far as actual recommendations go... I have a few.

you can't go wrong with the rpgmaker tag on itch.io. A few personal favs that are freeware include Red Trees, Paletta, Starbot, Temmie Chang's games, Astrid & the Witch, re:curse, Grimm's Hollow, the list could go on forever really. Swollen To Bursting Until I Am Disappearing on Purpose is also a great one, but might not be very "like" the stuff I make. I dunno. Anodyne, and basically anything by Analgesic Productions inspires me a lot. But that was the first game of theirs I played and it greatly inspired the game im working on now. Moon Remix RPG is another inspiration for my current game, mostly with the item system. The world feels so surprisingly alive, I like it very much.

Super Lesbian Animal RPG is one of my favorite games ever for obvious reasons. It's a bit of a different vibe from the other stuff here since it's like, actually a 20-hours-or-so rpg, but I think anyone who likes my work will probably enjoy it too. It also just looks so damn good. I want to be that good at pixel art someday.

Basically all of these are topdown 2d games, oops... I promise I play other things. But this answer is already kinda long so I guess I'll leave it there :p

Connections between Omori and Undertale / Deltarune (#1)

This is my first post covering my discoveries. Since there are so many connections that I can draw, I want to leave out more vague ones. I'm saving ones that are more observational for a later post.

1. Numbers Station

The Omori song on the OST titled, "Numbers" is said to be sampling audio from a Numbers Station. Coincidentally or not while reading about such stations on wikipedia, (I know, not the most reliable source) it is said that The Conet Project: Recordings of Shortwave Numbers Stations is a four-CD set of recordings of numbers stations that was release in 1997.

Huh interesting that it was that year of all years.

2. Aaron

He is the annoying character (that's not a dog) that appears in Undertale and less so Deltarune and appears to be the base sprite for most characters. (Essentially any character that does not have their own spare image are given Aaron, and any character that you try to attack in the save sequence is blocked by Aaron. Personally I wouldn't take this lore too far, it's probably a joke among the developers based on the way that Temmie expresses her dislike of him.) I noticed the other day however that Aarons tail has an interesting design choice.

This again, was likely not done on purpose but I find it pretty cool.

Also important to note that Omocat did design Woshoua who does have an easter egg dialoge with Aaron, as well as them appearing together often.

I do have more things to share, so I will create another post continuing this discussion sometime soon. In the meantime let me know if there is anything you noticed that is worth noting!

Level: “scarlet field” by cerufiffy (Medium Demon 10 ★)

This is one of the best levels I’ve had the privilege of showcasing in recent days. Every part of this demon is amazing! It’s themed around the game “Deltarune”, but instead of being based on the whole game it seems to focus solely on Chapter 1. The level just got rated “epic” last Friday.

Many places and characters are referenced here! These include Castle Town, the Field, Seam’s Shop, Susie, the Great Board with K. Round, the Thrash Machine (aka Rubber Duck), the Scarlet Forest with Clover, the Bake Sale shops, and the Card Castle—in that order.

At 14% in the level, you might notice 3 card suits, with the text “don’t forget”. This is a nod to the same message from the original game, but also it serves as a tip: you need to memorize these suits, otherwise you’ll die at the 3 split paths at 66%. And yes, they are randomly generated.

So why is this level special? People already made levels about Deltarune Ch. 1 back in 2018. The answer to that is simple: they’re way worse than this level. This has amazing theming, designs, and creativity. In fact, cerufiffy built this level by taking inspiration from many of those 2018 levels!

Now that would be the end of this post. But in fact, this level is way deeper than it seems, and that’s where I talk about the easter eggs in the level editor! (under the cut)

This level took a lot to make. You can see a bunch of triggers under the level, and cerufiffy even lists the levels he took inspiration from.

Happy birthday undertale!

Man, the 5 anniversary for undertale is already here! I feels like it’s been forever since last year. I mean, can you believe I started this blog a year ago? I can’t at all.

So, last year I personally thanked all of my favorite undertale artists, blogs, and writers for being here and making my day every time they post. So, I’d like to do this again, but maybe less people, because I follow a lot more people now, I want to give a longer thank you to them, and if I’d list them all this will be too long.

Birthday fic from Yours the Author!

Ms. Emmibee: is me birthday day.

Me: *Tumbling down a flight of stairs, breaking a comical amount of theater vases that are made to be broken* HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

So yes! It’s Ms. Emmibee’s birthday, so we all know what that means! Presents and (cookie) cake! It’s not possible to send real cookie cake through the internet, though, but a present is a present!

I had actually planned this one out vaguely after the last update. It made sense that we wouldn’t get a lot of time in Temmie Village, since the plot must go on, but I figured most people would appreciate some cute Temmie and Emmibee action. I wrote this all out today. I don’t know if I quite captured the magic of Tem Village, but I like to think there’s a little bit of it here. I’ll let you decide for yourself. See you at the bottom!

What Could it Mean?

“Emmi, I kindly ask—and by ‘kindly’, I mean ‘in a way that won’t cause a scene’—that you stop vibrating so intensely.”

“But it’s Temmie Village, Dr. Gaster! I can’t not be excited!”

“The Temmies are excitable enough without you encouraging them. I’d rather not deal with any more hyperactivity than necessary.”

“Hyperactive or actively hyper?”

“…What?”

“What?”

“…Strange woman.”

“I know. But isn’t that why you like me?” “No more questions. Let’s just—”

“HOI!!!!” Dr. Gaster sighed for ten whole seconds as Emmibee gasped at her first in-person look at a Temmie. She bounced on the toes of her rubber rain boots as the little monster skipped over to them.

She was just as cute as she was in the game, but even smaller; probably no bigger than a munchkin cat. Her quadrupedal body was covered in short, soft white fur, two pairs of ears, a little mane of black hair, and a deep sky-blue shirt over the top half of her body.

Smiling giddily, Emmi pointed at her while grinning at the skeleton companion. “Undoubtedly, a Temmie.”

“Undoubtedly,” Dr. Gaster agreed. “Can we please—”

“HOI!!!” Another Temmie popped up.

“Behold, a Temmie,” Emmi bowed to the newcomer.

“I am aware. Can we—”

Another Temmie trotted over. “Could it be a Temmie?” Emmi wondered.

“Actually, I’m Bob. Nice to meet you,” Bob said. Emmi let out a high-pitched noise.

Dr. Gaster sighed again. “I’m going to the Tem Shop. Can I trust you won’t leave the village?” Emmi was currently chanting “hoi” with the growing group of Temmies. “…I suppose I can.” He made his way to the shop.

One of the Temmies suddenly wiggled her tail the way a cat does before it pounces and leapt up into Emmi’s arms. Emmi extended her arms to catch the Temmie, but a thought suddenly occurred to her: aren’t humans allergic to Temmies? The Temmie landed in her arms, and she instinctively adjusted herself for maximum comfort for the carrier and the carry-ee. Oh wait; I’m a monster now, she remembered. Does that still count? The Temmie she was holding vibrated gently in her arms, and the other Temmies and Bob crowded around her feet, looking a few seconds away from swarming her in a pile of cute. Guess it does.

As much as she would have loved to be swarmed in a pile of cute, Emmi didn’t know when she’d get a chance to explore Temmie Village like this again. Carefully wading through the tiny monsters, she began to look around the small cavern.

True to the game, the walls, ceiling, and floor were made of dark blue stone, but unlike the game, the air was cool and damp and seemed to somehow cast a shiny quality to the stone, if she looked at just the right angle and level of light. There wasn’t any quirky music playing in the background, but the air thrummed—no, vibrated—with an energy that could only be explained by the mysterious power of Temmie.

She took some time to say HOI to each Temmie she passed, admired the rich history of Tem and the statue of Tem, returned the compliments of an adamant Temmie (awawawa! bee lady… such a… cute!!!) and exchanged parenting tips with the parent of a special hardboiled egg (tem and bee… pROUD pARENTS!!!). Emmi considered saying hello to the owner of the Tem Shop, but one peek into the room revealed an irate Dr. Gaster trying to explain why he wouldn’t accept Tem flakes in exchange for all of the items he was selling. It would probably be best to leave him be.

That was when she spotted it: the dancing mushroom, swaying their arms to an invisible tune. Hugging the Temmie she was still holding tighter to her chest, she strode up to the mushroom, swaying her hips and bopping her head to the beat. She giggled and sang with them, “Mushroom dance, mushroom dance… what could it mean?”

The mushroom raised their cap to peer up at her, eyes narrow. “Failure is terrifying,” they said, “but not nearly as terrifying as success.”

The world suddenly stopped; not like a record scratch. It was more like if the planet had stopped spinning, but everyone wasn’t flung off into space. All of the cold and none of the water in the room seemed to cling to Emmi, getting under her raincoat, under her skin, coating her SOUL in an icy sheet. Her breath caught in her throat, her vision tunneled, and there was an intense feeling of being watched…

“Emmi?” The mushroom lowered their cap and went back to swaying. The Temmie in her arms hopped down, her face following a moment after. Emmi looked up to see Dr. Gaster putting something into the pocket of his lab coat and gesturing for her to follow him. “Time to go.”

Emmi’s legs felt a bit weird, like they had almost but not quite fallen asleep, and they were trying to remember how to work. The cold feeling lingered, though not as strongly as it had before Dr. Gaster brought her back to reality. She stumbled backwards, trying not to fall over as she stared at the mushroom again. They weren’t looking at her, preoccupied with their dance. The sudden shift in the mood had left her disoriented and a bit overwhelmed. What that mushroom said… it was way too on the nose for her liking. Had it not been for Dr. Gaster, she would have stood there for the rest of time as she tried to make sense of how that mushroom knew…

She would be grateful to the doctor for saving her from herself, even if he never found out.

“Coming…” she replied, taking one last look at the mushroom before steadily following Dr. Gaster out of Temmie Village.

It’s probably a good thing Emmibee didn’t go to the Temmie in the wall. She definitely didn’t need a double dose of the feeling of being watched. Poor Emmi. How did that mushroom know?

“Hyperactive or actively hyper” was a play on the joke “working hard or hardly working”. I was originally going to put a fourth wall breaking joke in that part of the story, but it occurred to me that Dr. Gaster wouldn’t let that go so easily.

Emmi identifying the Temmies (hey, that rhymed!) is a reference to the snow poffs of Snowdin. You all probably already know this, but interacting with every snow poff will tell you that, indeed, you are interacting with a snow poff.

Temmies have a rich history. What is that history? It’s rich. That’s all you need to know, and all you’ll ever find out, probably.

Emmi is going to be a parent sometime soon (skelebaby boys!), so it’d be a good idea to get parenting tips from an experienced parent, even if that parent’s child is a hardboiled egg. Every bit helps!

The scene with the mushroom is what really inspired me to write this. Visually, the shading in that penultimate panel was stunning. I wanted to translate what it looked like Emmibee was feeling into words. What did she see? What did she feel, physically and emotionally? These are questions I have to know the answers to as an author, and if they’re not written already, I’ll write down my own interpretations.

Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EMMIBEE! One year older, bolder, and wiser! Despite everything, I hope this is a good one for you. I mean it. I’ll be posting this to FFN and AO3, if you’re okay with that. general beach au hcs

bo and temmie are locals, best friends who have lived in town their whole lives

they own and operate a surf shop together, and both of them teach surfing lessons down at the beach

also both are professional and competitive surfers who travel for competitions and do VERY WELL

i work at the ice cream shop in town, around for the summer

next door to the ice cream shop is a flower shop, heavily inspired by my florist!ushijima hcs and florist!ushijima drabble (in my head anyways)

i spend a lot of time just hanging out w the quiet florist next door on lunch breaks, etc and we like to gossip

so i eventually surmise that he has a thing for temmie and!!! start to scheme about how to set them up

next time i see bo, i go up and ask him about maybe setting our two friends up and he gets HYPED

we get too excited in the planning and hanging out aspect to actually excite anything (“should we go to the beach to plan?” “yeah that’s sounds likr s great idea!” and then we spend the whole day at the beach and do absolutely ZERO planning)

ushijima sets up a plumeria display & temmie sees it and goes in and tbh the rest is history! (they’re married now ksjsj and i believe @kuronekomama has some posts abt her and ushijima falling in love? or first meeting?)

i spend a lot of the rest of my free time watching bo surf down at the beach and he always gets so excited knowing i’m there, maybe showing off a little more than he should

it always ends w him running up to me and scooping me up, getting me soaking wet

bo and i have each other listed as “sunshine” in our phones

his favorite thing to do is pick me up and spin me around

there’s a restaurant in town that always teases bo (and temmie) about their new partners when they go in with us

a fun couple rolls into town and befriends us all rly quickly ( @strawbirb & kuroo 👀) especially kuroo and bo

we all go to a festival one night before splitting off into pairs

that’s the night bo and i have our first kiss! it’s late at night and in the water and he yells in excitement loud enough afterwards for people on the beach to hear

Stretch squinted his eye sockets in an attempt to read the teeny handwriting on Honey’s plans. Honestly, who wrote that small? It was impossible to read! How was he expected to make any progress on this machine if he couldn’t read the fucking plans?

“You’ve got that capacitor in the wrong spot, stupid. If you turn the machine on you’re going to fry yourself.”

Stretch dropped the soldering gun, accidentally burnt his hand, swore, and spun around - all in about the space of a second. There, sitting behind him and yawning, was the creature that haunted his nightmares. Temmie looked a little different, but not by much. Instead of the yellow and green striped shirt he was used to this Temmie wore one that was blue and purple. Also, their tail was longer and thinner than the one he knew back home. But the jaw hinged in the same terrifying place: all the way back at the base of the neck. Hundreds of sharp teeth gleamed at him. He could even see some chunks of bloody meat from Temmie’s last meal.

“Wow, you’re twitchy. I haven’t even done anything yet,” the creature said.

Stretch shuddered. His memory replayed for him perfectly all the things that his Temmie had done to him. “you don’t need to. i’ve got a pretty good imagination.”

“You don’t need one, though, do you? I can see your LV. You’re crueler than I am to somebody, and it isn’t your human,” Temmie said accurately. Stretch stiffened. He hadn’t told anyone that here. Why did Temmie know? “If I had to guess I’d say it was your brother. The way you’re obsessed with getting back to him is a little more than just the emotions of a brother. Your rage problems definitely go hand in hand. Oh, don’t give me that look. I’ve been exploring this world and its inhabitants for centuries worth of RESETs. I know how to read a face better than any of these idiots.”

Stretch didn’t give them the satisfaction of doing what they wanted. Instead, he kept up his facade. He let a few tears fall down out of his sockets. Stupid Stretch would definitely be scared and saddened by what Temmie had said. “I- I don’t know w-w-what you mean!”

Temmie laughed. It was the kind of laughter that could haunt your nightmares. “Oh, yes, I can read you. You don’t like that, do you? You’re used to being the one in control, but here you’re not. I can see the frustration building in you. I wonder what will happen when that bubble of yours pops? Who are you going to take all that anger on, hmm? I can’t wait to find out. Just one piece of advice: Honey will remember RESETs, but Berry won’t.”

Stretch sniffled, still clinging to his disguise even as he grew that much more furious. “I’m… I’m not…”

Temmie shrugged. “You can pretend all you want, but you can’t fool me. Chara will be out of the Ruins tomorrow. They’ve mostly done neutral runs. They like to kill Taz for being so patronizing towards them and trying to keep them from leaving. I have no doubt that that’s what they’ll do this time. Honey usually is too busy grieving to notice much else. Just, please, do your worst in a room where I can see. I’m getting bored of living through the same things happening over and over and over again.”

Stretch’s anger grew. Oh, he knew who he was taking his anger out on, alright. Blue could wait. He had two interlopers on his territory who needed to pay. He could already picture what he was going to do to them. The thing that he couldn’t decide on was whether to let Berry find them and suffer, or make him watch, or hurt him, too.

Stretch said, “That sounds-”

“Oh, please, don’t bother. We both know it’s an act. Just let me leave so you can get back to work frying yourself with this machine.”

Stretch opened his mouth to protest, but Temmie was out of the room before he could gather the breath to speak. He stared after them, went up the stairs and closed the door to the basement behind them, and then went back to work on the machine. He would wait until he saw little Mx. Chara himself before he went through with his plan. After all, he didn’t want Honey to find out, now did he?

Blue woke up well before the first light came through the windows. It wasn’t all that odd for him to do so. It was the only time he could get his shopping done. Most stores opened early, and it was expected that rulebreakers would shop before everyone else had woken up. Blue had been thrown out of shops later in the day, just because of his past. He always felt sorry for the cashiers in those early hours. Most of them were rulebreakers like him, though, so he could at least be glad they had managed to find work.

This morning he wasn’t waking up to do the shopping. He hadn’t had to worry about that ever since he was brought to this world. He wasn’t trying to catch Edge before he snuck out of the house, either. No, Blue woke up early because he wanted to thank Edge and Red for letting him sleep in their house. He would gladly cook for them.

Blue started by surveying the pantry. There were more things in it than he kept in his own house! He was used to making do with the bare essentials in order to save money, but now he was faced with a huge variety. Most of this stuff he wouldn’t know how to cook with, but some of it appealed. The inspiration came when he saw the waffle iron in the bottom of the cupboard. He loved waffles, and it had been a long time since he had made them. He grabbed some flour, sugar, butter, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract. From the fridge he grabbed eggs, milk, and blueberries. He loved blueberries, and, at least back home, they weren’t too expensive. He didn’t want to break Red and Edge’s budget by using ingredients that would cost too much to replace.

Then Blue moved on to preparing the dry mix. In a large bowl, he mixed together the flour, salt, baking powder and sugar; then he set it aside. While he was doing this he preheated the waffle iron. In a separate bowl, he stirred in the milk, butter and vanilla. That was the wet mix. He poured the wet mix into the dry and stirred them together. Then he beat the eggs until they were fluffy and white and folded them into the rest of the batter. From there, he began to cook the waffles in the buttered waffle iron, sprinkling the blueberries into the mix to taste.

The smell must have drifted up the stairs to the brothers’ bedroom, because, just as he was finishing up the first waffle, Red and Edge came down the stairs. They were positively intertwined; Red’s arm was around Edge’s back and Edge’ hand was on Red’s shoulder, fingering the collar around his neck. Blue smiled up at them. They were absolutely adorable together.

They were also surprised. Edge was blinking fast and his jaw was lax. It wasn’t quite hanging open, but it was close. Red’s, however, was hanging open. He closed it and, eyes sparkling, growled, “making yourself really at home here, aren't cha?”

Blue shivered. He didn’t like it when people were mad at him, and Red sounded mad. His eye lights were confusing him, though. They looked so… happy? If Blue ignored the rest of his face, he almost would have guessed that Red was laughing. That didn’t mean much to him, though. Stretch sometimes looked like that when he was hurting Blue. “I JUST WANTED TO MAKE YOU SOMETHING TO EAT AS THANKS FOR BEING SO NICE TO ME. I CAN PAY YOU BACK FOR THE INGREDIENTS. I-”

“BLUE,” Edge said calmly, concern and amusement warring in his eyes, “RED WAS JOKING. YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY US BACK.”

“OH,” Blue said, looking up at Red. The other was smiling and nodding.

“boss is right, blue. i’m sorry for scaring you. i was just teasing you. this is a good surprise. are those blueberries in the batter?”

Thankful for the distraction, Blue nodded. “I SAW THEM IN THE FRIDGE AND THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE TASTY. I CAN ALSO MAKE PLAIN ONES IF THAT’S WHAT YOU WOULD PREFER.”

Red salivated. “blueberries sound great! chocolate would be better, but we’re out right now. i should know. i ate the last of it!”

Edge chuckled. He had gone over to another cupboard and was pulling out plates and cups. “I KNEW THAT WAS YOU, RED. FELLDYNE HATES CHOCOLATE. HONESTLY, IF YOU WANTED A SCAPEGOAT THEN ANYONE WOULD BE BETTER THAN HER. EVEN ME! NOW, BLUE, WHY DON’T YOU MAKE A FEW MORE? AT LEAST THREE; RED IS A GLUTTON FOR BLUEBERRIES. A FEW MORE WOULD BE BEST. WE CAN FREEZE THE ONES WE DON’T EAT. WE CAN HELP YOU IF YOU WANT.”

It was Blue’s turn to blink. He wasn’t used to having help. Maybe… “COULD YOU HANDLE THE DRINKS? YOUR CABINETS ARE A BIT TALL FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO POUR ON.”

Red laughed. It wasn’t a mean spirited laugh. It was the kind of laugh that invites others to join in. “heh. you could say you need a little bit of a leg up. legs get you a stool, before you’re on your last legs.”

“RED-” Edge began to say, but Blue’s laughter interrupted him.

“MWEH HEH HEH!” Blue giggled. He instantly slapped his hands over his mouth. Stretch hated when he laughed like that.

Apparently Edge and Red didn’t share that opinion. Red was grinning like he’d won the lottery, and Edge… Edge was blushing like mad, his face lit up a deep maroon.

“heh, see, boss? someone appreciates my jokes. now, egg-scuse me while I start on some fried eggs. protein would be good, seeing as we’re taking you to see felldyne today,” Red said casually. Blue smiled. He was looking forward to seeing Felldyne again. Maybe she would remember him? The thought fueled his big smile as he finished cooking the waffles, the happy sounds of puns and groans wrapping him in safety.

Random Ask Dump - Anniversary Edition (50+ REALLY OLD ASKS!)

Going through OLD AND CRUSTY ASKS to try and chip away at the inbox. HERE WE GOOOO...

That’s an interesting idea, and I could run it by Cake, but I think it would honestly be a LOT to track from a programming perspective. Especially ‘cause killing Sans is gonna result in a “bad ending,” so to speak.

An attempt was made by Undyne to have all three hang out at the same time. Papyrus was SUPER EAGER. ...but one thing led to another and there were many messy explosions of chemicals and lots of smoke. Alphys had to step in before things got out of hand. It was all very daunting for her. Pap and Undyne are VERY LOUD, VERY AMBITIOUS PEOPLE.

I actually have some ideas of some side comics I may do at some point! :o It’s just that right now there’s a lot going on.

I need to poke Carni about that at some point. He’s just been very busy with other projects!

Clearly he’s standing on the “out to lunch” sign.

I wanna say that it’s very possible in theory. :o It probably affects them differently since monsters’ emotional state affects their magic and their physical state.

I do like little easter eggs like that, though I’m not sure where I’d fit it in atm just ‘cause I already showed Pap’s room, haha.

I made the chase theme for Mad Dummy as well as Mad Mew Mew’s battle theme. @pinewsun​ made the battle theme for Mad Dummy, and @thomasthepencil​ made the Season Dude battle theme and MD’s overworld theme. :o

That’s a really fascinating conundrum! You’re absolutely right- if IF was a standalone game, then from a writing standpoint, having more subtle implications would make sense! The reason I chose a different approach for IF is because it’s set after Flowey’s already known to be evil and I like to give different POVs rather than stick to just Frisk’s.

That’s an interesting thing, actually- both fights lean heavily on the fourth wall. Both are treated as climaxes for their given routes. It’s funny because Asriel’s fight is a lot more straightforward and less meta by comparison.

I agree! The thing with Papyrus is that he’s extremely powerful- he just doesn’t want to kill. But it’s a deliberate choice not to kill- he’s able to force his attacks to do next to no damage. He’s also pretty darn crafty, as he made the Gauntlet himself. It really is just a case of Undyne’s personal biases and concern for him.

That was a deliberate choice. :O Papyrus is very influential toward Frisk. He is best skeleboi.

It is possible to whistle through teeth. ...alternatively, magic. As for the music, Undertale implies that the music is heard! Maybe it’s just... a thing that exists in this world. Or it’s just meant to be a silly meta joke. I try to keep it somewhat ambiguous other than occasional nods to it. Chara’s pants are lighter because I just... felt like it, I guess? Haha. I wanted their feet and pants to stand out more from each other, so they have khaki pants. As for the Undyne fight being animated, well, this ask is old by now, but Sparks was the one who was down for it.

Well, the teaser’s been out for a long time now, but that’s the idea! It’s also why this has been in production for so long. The Determinator has some really over the top attacks (that weren’t even shown in the teaser), and Sparks animated in Photoshop. That’s how hardcore he is.

Shhhhh. Don’t give me ideas. I’m already slacking on Tem Village. :P

Sometimes I do have slumps and burnouts (see Antipode’s lengthy hiatus), but breaks lead to me being refreshed and coming back with even more enthusiasm than before!

Flowey appears in a few background shots in the Ruins!

When Sans says “or maybe...” he looks at the empty flower pot. This was one of the earliest bits of foreshadowing about who created Flowey, and nobody noticed it at the time!

And then they look like this, with an angry face and pose- Mad Dummy has possessed them!

As of Part 38, it’s been revealed that he did first meet Asgore as “Santa.” As for whether or not he knows the truth, time will tell. :o

Oh, these are excellent suggestions for calls! I’ll try to keep these in mind.

So, I believe Glyde uses the Mysterious Door motif. Jerry uses the motif in its battle theme- I believe it’s a mix of original motif and Wrong Number song?

Sans is a master of power napping. He probably gets a decent amount of sleep, though.

There are a lot of ways to interpret Pap’s lack of sleep! In IF, he can get by without it, but he also has a lot of reasons to avoid sleeping. Some reasons include productivity but also due to a looooot of heavy baggage. More on that later.

I think sleep can definitely make monsters healthier. Rest = better mental health as well as physical health, and with how important mental and emotional help is for monsters, that’s very important!

They just really like socks. Socks are warm. Socks are slinky. And googly eyes are the best. So they took on the form of a really eccentric sock puppet and sock collector. Scandalous.

It also has Alphys’ motif, as the two are the leaders of the royal guard!

I would say the lack of Asgore as an influence has left Undyne slightly less grounded? Like, she had Toriel and Gerson in her life, but her relationship with Toriel is... definitely not quite as close? Like, Toriel by that point kept people at an arm’s length due to losing multiple children (including one from old age). So, while they were on friendly terms until the aftermath of the DT experiments and the tapes’ release, it was more like mutual respect and a sorta professional relationship with Undyne admiring Toriel and wanting to spare her from more heartache.

That is a really interesting idea. While that didn’t happen, I do need to maybe revisit the grumpy dog at some point or another. He’s still a lil’ salty.

I think in terms of layout it won’t change much, but there will be new/different content for sure. :O

Mad Dummy’s base design is mostly original, but she has a wig + headband from DIO from Jojo Part 3! Fun fact: While MTT has Kamina shades, Papyrus��� goggles are loosely based on Simon from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann in terms of color. :O

So basically, when Asriel defeated Frisk, he had the power over the timeline to reset it as he pleased- in theory. However, that power was overwhelming for him, and due his lack of understanding OF said power and one last ditch attempt at resisting from Chara, things went wrong.

There is a track that takes some inspiration from Rage Awakened. It’s not released, and it’s not exact, but it won’t be released for a WHILE. Like until the part comes out.

I think it’s just the fact that tacos are so random. Like, my biggest beef in that regard was that OG Underswap had a lot of arbitrary replacements for things in UT and not all of them made sense. Like, if Sans was to make a foreign food, ramen would’ve made more sense due to Alphys being weeb trash, haha.

None taken! We know that with headcanons, everyone is gonna have their own interpretations. These are just the voices we liked for Fireglobe Production, but everyone has their right to their favored interpretations!

Yeah, Knight Knight is one of the coolest CORE mercs in the original game. It was fun to repurpose them for Inverted Fate as royal guards. :o It made room for unique encounters in the CORE in the form of them robots- as Undyne would rather use machines than other monsters to do her work.

Personally, I see it as an Asriel motif, but I also acknowledge that at one point it WAS gonna be an Asgore motif. Toby has a habit of just using whatever music works for a scene (see sans. at the snail farm.)

I do have a few ideas, though I won’t say for what yet. :o

He’s likely made blueprints for that train. :P

So basically, I treat the starting motif for BAaTH/Power of NEO is just a “true hero” motif.

MTT is definitely major in IF! As for whether or not he’ll have a hangout, time will tell. There’s definitely more to resolve with him, though.

I’m gonna remake at least a few of the older tracks, including Regret. My goal is just to bring the OST to a similar standard of quality.

So, animated parts coming up: Part 47, Part 49, Part 50. There may be some other parts, but we’re gonna wanna scale things back for a little bit for the sake of all our sanities.

Honestly, probably fairly similar to the bully fight in the Ruins- which is why I ultimately decided not to do one. Both fill similar archetypes, though I think if I did do a battle, I woulda still had Flowey interrupt at the end and scare them off.

It’s a very emotional scene. Far more tragic than her geno death, IMO.

what  inspired  you  to  take  on  this  muse :  me and my friend finished watching the new venom movie and I just finished rewatching a let's play of Prey. So we started to brainstorm about Symbiotes and Typhons being in one body and we just said ‘fuck it why not add the WAU into this guy?’  and we did! The outcome was J.W.~  I’m pretty sure they’re recycled bits of an old muse? I’m not entirely sure but this alien combo certainly started to come alive once I drew them.~

As for what inspired me to make him how he is now: I’m not sure, so far I’m just winging it till I figure out what this lad is gonna do with themselves. Though so far I do have an idea of them collecting Audio logs and Video logs where ever they go? And probably cause a some crimes against scientists while doing so, at least in a high society like places? what  are  your  favorite  aspects  of  your  current  muse :   ngl I always had thought the concept of philosophy and the ‘superego, ego, and Id’ type stuff was really cool after watching a run of I have no mouth and I must scream. I put the WAU, Symbiote, and Typhon in these respective categories because it felt sorta fitting?  I’ve given the blog’s name n title ‘theyre-human’ and ‘what is human’, not only as a reference to Nameless, but like how it kinda goes full-circle of them going from human to alien to uncanny human-like.  Its like if you’re going on a deep-diving or space expedition to somewhere and you find a survivor, you take them in thinking it’s all good and stuff. and oop- turns out they’re the monster all along!

Purpose of this blog + some critisim on my art "My Home Burns Inside Me"

Ok so. I'm not new to tumblr, I've had different accounts for different purposes but I've never ever had an art blog! As for my old accounts, I've deleted them (RIP). Now I'm back to make some art.

How I had the idea was a little complicated since I never had the motivation or confidence to pursue any art form. I am just a girl working on coding, networking, electronics, robot and math. Yes, I am a techie. :)

So everything was going normal in my average day until I finally decided I really really wanted to make a 2D top down pixel game. Much like the style of Undertale and Stardew Valley in terms of graphics and playstyle. I was so inspired by the art and story of Undertale (Thanks to Toby Fox and Temmie Chang!) and ofcourse Eric Barone(the indie developer of Stardew Valley) was and still is my hero in terms of gamedev and creation. Stardew Valley.. I fell in love with the story, gameplay mechanics, soundtrack and most importantly in the current subject: Pixel Art. When I heard Eric made all of the art in the game by himself,I was stunned and so inspired,but I never had the idea of doing some myself,because I never saw myself as an artist. So that was an era closed,back in the winter of 2018.

Now we're close to the fall of 2019, and I really want to make a game of my own, designing everything, from mechanics to soundtrack and art! I know I can code the mechanics, learn unity and etc. But a day ago I discovered one problem. How in the world was I gonna do the artwork?! Art was my weak point 2 days ago.

Thinking of a solution I tried out some isometric pixel art tutorials on youtube,learning aseprite and photoshop. And for now it's going pretty good. After doing my first artwork of an isometric pixel art (Just a tree with shade practice). I realised could really do it if I improved and tried. So I decided I was brave enough to be criticized for my work and wanted to share my work with others. Best place to do it?Of course, it is Tumblr.

I was angry at Tumblr after that ban of sexual stuff,no lie. I loved the nude art, the porn, and some of the passionate speaking posts. That was really disappointing. Anyway, back on the subject, now I'm back on the platform and will release some artwork practice (random stuff unrelated to the game I'm making, since I am not qualified yet + they would be spoilers, who knows) and I WANT TO BE CRITICIZED. So, if you have the time and kindness,please be a critique of my artwork,and tell me what I'm doing wrong and right. That is how I'll improve. I really need this. If I can really become an artist, I'd love to create stuff for you, free of charge. I love stuff that speaka freedom ans equality. I promise to not take money for my work,if it comes to that.

TL,DR:I need to learn pixel art for a game I'm making so I need your help to critique my work for pros and cons.

As for my first post,

"My Home Burns Inside Me"

I really had fun making it! I just love pixel art. I used the 127.0.0.1 to add something from tech and networking, some of my areas of interest. I realized I like to express myself in the form of art. So now for the critique:

Good stuff:

- I think I made those cloud shades and depth adding pretty good for a beginner.

- The grass texture looks ok.

-The sign is also well shaded I guess.

Dunno:

Those fires look pretty weird? My not?Idk. Something didn't feel right but this was the best burning effect I could do.

Cons:

-Even though the lighting if the sky looks ok, I think I overdid it. Less layers and blending maybe looked neater. Will try out with other artwork.

The horizon looks bad. It made the sky look like a wallpaper. Maybe the position of the sign and the grass shading made it look like so. Along with the sky problems I mentioned above. Gotta work on that.

Maybe if I added a few hills behind my main terrain,it would definitely look better and add depth.

If you've read this far,I'd appreciate if you told me my mistakes that I have not mentioned. I'd love to listen for advice.
