I think it’s so ironic that the Pony Express escapes a lot if not all blame in discussion. I can’t even say I am excused from it but it’s just how hard people circle back to the characters alone without considering the environment they were made to be in.

Why would they design a ship where only two of the rooms lock? Not the bathroom? Not the sleeping quarters? We assume that all the companies in the universe are this shallow and careless to their workers but we explicitly know the Pony Express in extra vile. They are fed processed slop pack they can’t even really cook and the ration of those pack is meager at best. They hired and made people with a plethora of conflicting demeanors and beliefs work together on a mission where cohesion is important if not an outright necessity and punish them for not being happy about it. There’s no social protocols, not chain of command other than Captain’s word/choice and the only way to enforce that is with a literal firearm. They don’t allow them to celebrate freely and even took away leisure activities that would make them less stir crazy. They are only allowed a few hours of sleep despite their being no other real responsibilities or work on the ship, no matter the position or its importance. With any crew, with any level of synergy, this was a powder keg waiting for a spark.

I’m not saying characters that made mistakes didn’t make huge ones, but I think part of the horror is that at least for some (this is targeting Jimathan) those mistakes are partly made by a force of the hand. There’s a running theme of lack of choice and being forced into something and the very nature of how The Pony Express expected them to function plays a big part.

Also likes to pet your hair. If you have long hair he’ll just twirl it around his fingers idly in conversation while looking straight at you.

He’s a light sleeper and lowkey can’t sleep unless you’re with him. If you’re out at night he’s constantly worrying and smokes more to calm his nerves.

Spooning, or more accurately curled up around you like a blanket.

He doesn’t like to be in positions where he’s can’t see (because he needs to stand guard over you even in the house). He does, however, enjoy being squished. He’s fond of tight, dark spaces like closets or under beds, so he likes to be wrapped in blankets and hugged.

But he would never squish you back out of fear of suffocating you or something. He thinks you’ll die from like, the slightest things.

Also has a fondness for hand holding. He considers that to be cuddling.

It’s kind of hard to tell when he’s happy, but generally when he feels safe with you he closes his eyes and his head leans back.

Osaa

Ohhhh he totally puts your head in his lap while he’s meditating and lets you sleep there. Maybe even give you a headpat or two if you do something cute, like talk in your sleep.

If you snore he will tell you though.

Generally, he likes cuddling positions where he can see your face, so spooning doesn’t really do it for him. He will humor you though if you INSIST (pretending he doesn’t like it a little too).

He also considers handholding a form of cuddling. If you say you want to cuddle while you’re holding hands he goes “but we already are. 🤔”

He sometimes boops you on the nose.

Marcoh

Likes you to lay on top of him and use his chest as a pillow. Ideally he also would like to see your face, but just seeing the top of your head is fine, too. That means he can give you forehead kisses.

He will never lay on top of you, ever, don’t even ask. He’s too scared to squish you. You are like a little bug to him.

He’s even a little concerned about sleeping in the same bed as you, because what if he rolls over in his sleep and suffocates you?

But the concept of sleeping together is nice enough to win him over without much convincing. It’s very sweet, it feels like such a little romantic gesture but so meaningful.

Will not tell you if you snore because he’s POLITE.

I don’t think he has any favorite way to cuddle in specific!

Probably the roughest cuddler, as in, he likes to play fight and play wrestle with you. Or tickle you into submission. He is careful not to be TOO rough, but lets be honest, it’s a completely unfair fight. He always wins.

He is big and he WILL lay on top of you. It also gives him easy access to your neck.

He will carry you around, for absolutely no reason except that he likes it. Even if it’s completely unnecessary, or even inconvenient.

Also considers handholding cuddling due to his background, and is enthralled by it. Gives you hand kisses (and also bites your hand if you look away from him).

Nuzzles your nose with his (I don’t know what to call it). Actually just nuzzles a lot in general as a way to get your attention.

Tanaka

Really big handholding fan. He’s such a reserved guy that simply holding hands with his partner in public feels daring and makes him giddy.

Likes cuddling where he can see your face and give kisses. Spooning is nice, but he’d rather you face him so he can see you!

He likes to cup his partners face in his hands, just give you a little squish sometimes.

Also likes to carry you bridal style, maybe give you a little spin. He can’t keep at it forever, but he’s a pretty strong guy.

He very rarely gets rough, but he sometimes gets cuteness aggression. Like if you do something cute like try on his hat or glasses he’ll pick you up and squeeze the breath out of you and you’d never expect it because he’s normally so gentle.

Likes spooning! Feels very ‘classic’, very simple but good. It’s just cozy and warm. Plus you can never tell if he’s blushing!

He holds you surprisingly tight, he can be protective. He’s not as paranoid as say, Levi and Daan are, but he’s still pretty insistent on looking out for his partner. Keeping an eye out, and such.

Not huge on PDA, unless he’s drunk, then he gets embarassingly sloppy. Don’t let him get drunk around anyone you want to make a good impression on, because he’s going to yap all about your private life and kiss you over and over.

A fan of having you sit on his lap while he does something else, like having a cup of coffee or just hanging out.

Another guy who won’t lay on you. “Don’t be upset I can’t lay on you! Aren’t you worried I’m gonna squish you…?”

Though, just resting his head on your chest is fine.

Gets offended and sulks quietly when you don’t want to cuddle. (Grown ass man)

Favorite cuddling position is you sitting on his lap! He likes to set out some warm tea, maybe get a fire going and just hold you to his chest.

You will also trigger an extremely long yap session, telling you stories from his homeland, his travels, how he was as a child. You can also sit in silence, but it’s much more likely he’s going to yap. He’s a chatty guy.

He’s a very warm person, he can always keep you warm even when it’s freezing cold outside. And he mysteriously never gets cold himself.

Forehead kisses and headpats. He likes to pet your hair in general. Hes a little rough, he naturally has a strong hand and very rough fingers, but its accidental. He never tries to pull your hair or anything. Just a little ruffle.

If you’re lucky and you’re alone together, he might even hum you a little folk tune while you snuggle.

“requiem for methuselah” crazy ass episode for many reasons. Kirk is being fully insane, like I don’t actually think, even controlling for how quickly and easily and readily he seems to fall in love with anybody at the slightest encouragement, that he’d go that bonkers for that android woman he just met while everyone on the ship was this close to dying, but that’s neither here nor there, because in the background you’ve got an equally but much more subtly insane episode for Spock, who extremely uncharacteristically admits to experiencing an emotion (or nearly experiencing, whatever) and that emotion is ENVY of all things. And then spends the rest of the episode warning Kirk away from this new love interest (something that doesn’t usually happen, even when Kirk has very inadvisable love interests) and is, in the end, the person who accurately identifies that Rayna’s competing love for Kirk and Flint is ultimately what overwhelms and destroys her with the most killer line in maybe history???

And then to wrap it up we get an equally uncharacteristic sort of denouement scene (TOS loooves to cut an episode off right after the actual climax, leaving little time for falling action or character reflection, or to stick a sitcom-y button on the end where the gang all smiles and laughs at their misadventures and everything resets to zero, which is not a criticism, it’s just the style of that era of tv, honestly) where Kirk is literally miserable over Rayna’s death (again, kind of unusual for a lot of his love interests, he tends to be able to move on pretty quickly) and Spock goes to see him and he falls asleep right in front of Spock (also odd) and then when Bones comes in to give the final word on Flint, Spock waves him off from waking the Captain (tender) and Bones gives him that awful speech about how it’s sadder that Spock can’t even imagine the love Kirk felt for this random android woman than it is that Kirk lost her in the first place (debatable but also rude) and how his great tragedy is that he can’t love at all like they can and how all he wishes is that Kirk could forget about all of this and move on. AND THEN, to have Bones leave and Spock go over to Kirk and very gently, tenderly, reluctantly touch him and put his hand to his forehead and tell him to forget and HAVE THAT BE THE END OF THE EPISODE??? What am I supposed to do with that??

Writing has been… nonexistent this week. But I felt a lil spicy and decided to add something from honey when you call my name (prev snippet here) I’m not 100% happy with all of it but here we are.

Never in Eddie’s wildest dreams did he anticipate how desperate — how responsive — Buck would be just from kissing and barely anything else. He had hoped and imagined, but the sight before him is truly a gift.

How many times has he himself longed to take their casual touches and turn them into something else? Something more. Something he’s certain would be all consuming, that he would let devour him.

All Eddie knows right now is the citrus vanilla sunshine scent of Buck surrounding him. The way Buck tries to roll his hips even though he can’t because Eddie’s still got him pinned to the counter. Every twitch, gasp and whine is angelic and holy to Eddie’s ears. A chorus he aches to hear composed into a divine litany of pleasure, written in the key of Buck’s rasps and moans.

“Baby.” The pet name falls effortlessly from Buck’s mouth. Eddie’s not even sure he realizes he said it. “Need- need you.”

I'm so looking forward to iroh and zuko properly talking and seeing irohs reaction to zuko being gay.

Like we all know he doesn't agree with the fire nation rn but how will he react?

Will he not support him cause sokkas a guy? Will he not support him because it's SOKKA? Will he accept him? Will he reveal he's known for years zuko was gay?

Especially with everything that happened with zhao, regarding to what jee said to bato on their date. (Which is a very understandable perspective, zuko just got out of this very sexually traumatising situation and almost immediately starts a relationship (his first relationship) with sokka, but then again it is a very unique situation)

One thing I love about some atla fics is how they portray the FNs thoughts on queerness, cause on one hand they were one of the only country's (I think) that treated men and women the same but then again it's also the fucking fire nation.

And I also think zukos whole canon arc can be very comparative to queerness,

His dads an asshole and after speaking out against him he throws him out, and zuko try's for 3 years to regain his father's love and acceptance, and then faced with the opportunity of regaining it takes it immediately regardless of who or what he may hurt (iroh, his own morals etc) but once he makes it back home realises how fucked up everything is and eventually confronts his dad and openly tells him he doesn't agree with him then runs aways.

I also wonder if iroh secretly knows jee is queer it doesn't seem that likely to me but it also is iroh so who knows.

I do think Iroh’s reaction will be a big moment for not only the story but for Zuko’s character development. Right now, Zuko’s technically still a prisoner, holding himself there by assuming Iroh will not understand or judge him when in reality he’ll never know what his uncle is thinking until they TALK ABOUT IT. (Which the FN royal family is just sooo good at healthy communication I don’t understand why this is so hard for them lol?!)

I do agree that the suddenness of the relationship combined with the intensity from both zuko and Sokka is very alarming for people looking at it from the outside (I mean we all totally get it cause we were there but others are like uhhhh hmmmm ok this might be concerning) so I get them gossiping and wondering if this is truly real or what the fucks going on with those boys.

I love Zukos canon arc because there’s just so much about zukos story that can be relatable no matter who you are and I think that’s why he is a fan favorite (it doesn’t explain why we torture him the way we do but ehhhh it’s fine haha)

Hmmmmmm does iroh know Jees gay? Depends on how saucy those music nights got ;)
