Pumat for the first song was an unexpected choice but damn it's so fun silly.

Laura's Silent Mind. That's it, just Silent Mind.

I found Naughty & Nice very cute, I have no notes. It took me a second to picture Scanlan and not just Sam, it's a flavor of bit he's done so many times I can't separate the two, but if anything that just makes the gnome make that much more sense.

I have a playlist specifically for songs like Nothin' Under The Tree and I need more. Taliesin please. Glad Ashton adopted the Hells as their best friends to spend the holidays with, that's a high bar to clear.

O Mighty Nein had me dead on the first couple of lines, by the end I was just crying like a little bitch. I'm not immune to cat purrs and sung verses about Caleb's found family. "Fort, doch nicht vergessen."

Twelve Days Of Grogmas would be my favorite if everything else wasn't just.. gold. Everything is gold. I laugh at every PINTS OF ALE line, this song is just Joy.

And probs my favorite, Cold Inside. I need more singing Pâté, more Pâté threatening chet. More scenic hells bells songs. More Marisha singing, period. FCG sounds amazing, too, Chetney is very well written and made me realize Travis has a penchant for characters that trail off. And- Imogen istg. Did we just blow Chetney up into the sky like Mushu on Mulan? I'll be periodically searching for animatics for this one because it paints a Very good picture for every verse (and I'm not nearly talented enough to do it myself)

Was reveling on the Feelings that Cold Inside left behind just to be hit with Winter Anymore. Nothing like a sad sapphic ballad right after what will be in my mind the Imodna anthem. So an average sapphic musical number.

And.. I know this is parasocial as fuck but Critmas made me giddy and actually Like the holidays for a minute or two. A bit of it is that Christmas for the northern hemisphere is Very different here (we haven't seen snow in my hometown since I think 2009, and that was a weather outlier) and we don't really hear about the holidays unless they're very fkn cold and snowy, so this was a nice change of pace to me, I guess Critical Role Land isn't that much different from this town. Brings them closer to me, personally, envisioning flipflops, Santa on the beach, no snow to be found and yet the stockings hang and the Christmas trees are forever present. When family is hard at best, this kinda thing is difficult.

Closing thoughts: it didn't even occur to me that this would be a season highlight, a critical role holiday record? I remember vividly that one ad read Sam did some time ago (was that in the pandemic? For DND beyond I think?) where everyone sang, I'm really happy somebody, anybody, in the team said "what if we Actually..." because they've given me (and I'm sure countless others) new music to love, by the people we love, and with the characters we are so very normal about.

Okay.

I loved "Not Sorry for Loving You", Calypso's voice is just GORGEOUS. And need I mention how beautiful @gigizetz 's animatic for it was!!! THE SPIN SHOTS!!! Ugh, I am forever in love with Gigi's style.

"Dangerous" is still stuck in my head, and I'm afraid it will be for the next few...days? Months? Year? (The lil princess Winion though. Awww. Huge shoutout to Jorge's sis, she was stunning!)

"Charybdis" was fun! Loved the sound and the animatic. Very catchy, very very cool. Little but killer.

"Get in the Water". GET IN THE WATER WAS SO GOOD. I for the life of me ADORE Poseidon's voice. The visuals were STUNNING too!! All of Ody's men keeping him from drowning?! Are you kidding?! It was sooo cool! And the God Move! Ohohoho!

And, of course, POLITES JUMPSCARE O U C H. That "You can relax my friend" 🥹 (Jorge when I catch you)

Lastly. "Six Hundred Strike". I. I am speechless. The way I GASPED when I saw the 3D animation. God damn.

But my favorite animation in this saga (although it's close competition with Gigi's) has to be Gwendy's. (Which they did in collaboration with other people, if I remember correctly, so credit to them too, obviously).

That whole last section of Six Hundred Strike was. Just. Pure badassery in the form of a song. THE SILHOUETTES OF THEM BOTH AS ODY STABS POSEIDON OVER AND OVER! FUCK, THAT ANIMATION WAS STUNNING!

Oh let's see!

1 ) Fic wise, i'm really proud of "Proud Family Tradition". I was actually able to finish it this year, which i'm super excited about and, in general, i just love how it turned out vibe wise.

Art wise, that's a hard one. Um...I'm going to go with the "Non-cannon Leo meets Clara comic" b/c i love how it turned out. The looser render style mixed with the limited dialogue and not-overly-distinct panels look so cool together. and it helped me start experimenting with other brushes by doing so.

2 ) Probably anything with Jenny (from Family Web). For whatever reason she doesn't tend to get very many notes at all, especially compared to anything else really.

For specific things, ummm...probably My Good Omens doodle from september. I redid a panel from an old animatic of mine and I love how the whole thing turned out, but it didn't do well at all. And Maybe my Forever Alone animatic. Again, love how it turned out, but it's for an au that i haven't really done much with beyond this and a donnieverse stop so it didn't get seen as much as i would have liked. It's based on the first thing i wrote for rise (though i haven't quite posted it yet. I've got to get on that) and i learned a lot making that video. Heck, i even got a decent looking fightscene in there lol.

3 ) Only 3?? ok, i'm gonna try lol.

ok, so no particular order (b/c i'm literally just going through my bookmarks on ao3 lol)

"things that ought to Crawl" by mudlarkspur (WisteriaParfait) (AO3). A very good "Draxum finds a little feral donnie and accidentally becomes a parent along the way". Very cute. Love it. Been meaning to do some fanart but haven't gotten the chance (or courage) to do so yet.

"Minor Interference" by bambiraptorx (AO3). Basically The turtles accept Draxum's offer to train them so they can prank him while doing so and everyone starts catching familiar feelings along the way. Super cute. definitely recommend if you want some chaotic shenanigans and occasional fluff : )

oh last one...um....ummm....ummmmmmmmm........Oh!

"Rotten Reflections" by Nicoforlife (AO3). Rise Leo and Donnie end up in 12tmnt, but it's dark/suspenseful, and they're both feral and injured. Idk, i just love this fic in general. I've read it 3+ times over the last year (i don't really reread that much that quickly, so that's significant) and will be rereading again so to catch up. (i'm behind on all my reading atm. it's sad) I just vibe with it. Again, another fic i need to do fanart for but haven't yet.

The visual novel I made- it's not finished and I'm actively rewriting the code and lines bit by bit. Also figuring out how to make custom music for it when I got the time but its so difficult 😭😭 literally got it finished for the school thing thanks to Fanta and Ramu (@chivalry-ramu / friend of mine who has been forced to listen to the Ark lore for years now)

But nope, it's just been kind of a hyperfixation i guess? I got really attached to the SMP and haven't been able to let it go. So I just kept producing content with it.

And I wanted it to have an ending so I gave it an ending. That also resulted in a lot of content.

I later used Ark for another SMP cause I was still really attached to him and couldn't let her go. So the Star SMP is implied to be in a way canon there trough the multiverse 😭😭😭

So you probably haven't listened to Khyber Shards, but my brain is there and has been there for a while and since you're an anon I'm not gonna try to tailor this to any shared fandoms.

Also, tbh, my ideas are most heavily concentrated toward the front and back ends of the song.

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded - The players & DM all sitting around a gaming table. On the table, you can see the minis for the PC's, as seen in the prologue.

Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed - One of the players or DM picks up a d4 and rolls it. As they do so, it morphs into the pyramid-shaped floating citadel of the Twelve.

Everybody knows the war is over - We see Soryn walking with the Stryke Force, a group of Deneith guards hovering in the background.

Everybody knows the good guys lost - Daine and Thora look at each other, and briefly we see three other figures around them, with scribbles over where their faces are supposed to be. These three are supposed to represent their team, now dead.

The rest of the stanza as well as the next few stanzas would be dedicated to episodes 2-147 or so, and while I have some vague ideas for what scene goes where, I don't know quite where to place them (aside from under a cut)

Everybody got this broken feeling / Like their father or their dog just died - Something to do with Tommel. Maybe it's the map job, or maybe it's earlier.

Everybody talking to their pockets / Everybody wants a box of chocolates / And a long-stem rose - The Storm Lords discussing the fate of the Stryke Force. If this scene occurs on talking to their pockets, then box of chocolates is Thora rescuing the Stryke Force. If the scene is on box of chocolates, then the prior scene would tie more directly to the Twelve, while the scene after is Thora rescuing the Stryke Force. If the scene is long-stem rose, then there may not be a Thora rescue scene.

Everybody knows that you love me baby - either Pog and Solarka or Shade and Ari.

And everybody knows that it's now or never / Everybody knows that it's me or you - Either the Stryke Force heading over to Blackbriar or the Tommel vs Ari duel.

And everybody knows that you live forever / When you've done a line or two - Either both of Esri's deaths, Esri's first death contrasted with Ari's death (since Erandis brought both of them back), or Ari's deal with the Forgotten Prince contrasted by his deal with the Forgotten Queen. No matter what, Erandis has to be here.

And now we're back to me having a very good idea of pacing.

And everybody knows that the plague is coming - The Stryke Force faces the murderbot, Thora grabs its head, and forces gather near the manor.

Everybody knows that it's moving fast - smashcut of Daine, the Stryke Force, and Demise all making their way through the ziggurat

Everybody knows that the naked man and woman - Ari explains that they were all born with their marks (possibly with some more of the smashcut towards the front end of the lyric)

Are just a shining artifact of the past - Cardaen, with his eye sparkling for effect.

Everybody knows the scene is dead - Cardaen and Ari talk, and Cardaen clutches his head.

But there's gonna be a meter on your bed - As tribute to all the times I have misheard the lyric as "on your head", Demise touches Cardaen's head and casts Greater Restoration on him.

That will disclose - Cul'Sir kills Vadallia. This scene will bleed into the end of the previous lyric, as well, for timing purposes.

What everybody knows - Daine flying everyone back to Stormreach. The scene zooms in on a particular area of Stormreach, where...

And everybody knows that you're in trouble - Thora can be seen limping her way through the streets of Stormreach.

And everybody knows what you've been through - The scene glitches to Thora in a similar pose, back in Blackwheel. For stylization purposes, her face is currently on fire instead of the horrific burns being visible.

From the bloody cross on top of Calvary - Thora is captured by Blackwheel, but there is defiance on her face.

To the beach of Malibu - Glitch cut to Thora in the same pose, but in Stormreach, and there is a look of despair on her face instead.

Everybody knows it's coming apart - While held captive, a look of utter terror crosses Thora's face as Soryn walks into the room.

Take one last look at this sacred heart - Thora's communicator, surrounded by all the messages she has sent after she left the manor with the murderbot head. It's left unclear if she herself was the one to send them.

Before it blows - A panel split four ways between the Stryke Force and Daine. All of them are horrified, and as the lyric continues, each of their sections disappears, revealing the next scene beneath.

Everybody knows - One of two scenes. Either Thora is held at wandpoint, even more heavily injured than she was prior to Everybody knows it's coming apart, or she is fully healed, but her eyes are glowing a solid color as she points a sword at them.

I would like to have finished writing the well thought out post I was gonna do initially but I've been extremely busy today, so I'm just gonna say.

I am so distraught by what this situation has done to my community.

Right now I'm in constant anxiety and terror because I don't know which of the blogs I followed and loved, and even possible friends, are just gonna leave forever.

It hurts seeing something that was mostly build by the fandom - let's be real, the last year of Dream SMP popularity has mainly remained because we are so many and we created fics and art, and videos and everything. It wasn't the the Minecraft server. Definitely not just that.

And more than that the Minecraft server isn't just Dream. There are so many CCs who poured all their art in it, and to see the story gone? The community gone? Just like that? That would destroy me.

I spent the last 2 years dedicating so much of my time, love and happiness to it. I made so many friends in this community.

I really don't want to say I left a fandom not because I lost interest but because the fandom sinked all around me.

The last Reblogs aren't done with lightness in my heart they're made of desperation, of simultaneously trying to maybe make my followers happier with fun posts and trying to convince them to maybe not leave, or even the worst of them all, scattering trying to reblog a posts of a blog that has said they won't be here anymore.

To me the Dream SMP was ours. We all got together when there was a new Sad-ist or Late August animatic, a lot of my music library is Dream SMP fan songs, Passerine was a fanfic with fics, music and animations made out of it. A lot of us talk about the Super Hero au like it's canon sometimes, we fought to get that Ao3 tag!!! We made content in the Dream SMP canon (the white streak, YCGMA limbo).

I am inclined to say that the fandom as a whole is as much of a Content Creator as the the Dream SMP's content creators, if not more (we are a lot of people).

And now some are leaving for very valid reasons, and us that are staying know that we'll have to find way to make this work in a sensible way - that we'll also suffer consequences of having extra hate thrown at us, even if we really haven't supported Dream directly in a long time (I for example never really liked manhunts that much so outside that really small lore video of Dream I haven't touched a Dream video or stream for more than a year).

And to think of the community that bonded around an Ode to L'Manburg and still knows how to sing it today. To think of a community that is such a safe space for LGBTQI+ people. To think of the inside jokes about salmon. To think about the zines. To think about the fact that I could live of fan content!!! Because we had almost all art forms! From embroidery to book binding, to composing to drawing, animatics/animation, sculpting, cosplaying, writing, programming, etc... I have seen it all.

And to think it can all be threatened by a single person? When we are literally millions? It's a feeling I can't really describe.

I can only wish that on the best case scenario something happens like what happened to Hermitcraft - the server goes to another person. But part of me thinks we might end up like Yandere Highschool, although worse because everyone knows about the Dream SMP. I'm starting to wonder if that even is wishful thinking. Because at least people leave Yandere Highschool fans alone because almost nobody knows about it.

All of this to say - more than the lore I am worried about the people and friends I might lose because of this situation, and what I wish is for we all to come out of this the least scratched as possible, so that maybe we can still play a little melody.

Jewel Racasa - Week 8

Hello and welcome to: Jewel tries to remember what she did this week. Listen, it's been a long week and I'm tired but I'm trying my best lol.

Crew Assignments

This past Monday, I worked with Sarina to start assigning our crew their assignments so that we could officially start production. Sarina assigned people to shots, and I worked on the assignment instructions and uploaded each shot from the animatic separately into their corresponding folders. We haven't started backgrounds yet but I started planning their assignments for next week.

I did the math (I'm bad at math by the way) and with a total of 66 shots and 8 animators, each animator would have to do about 8 shots (8.25 to be exact) in total in terms of rough animation. Our goal is to have rough animation done within 4 weeks or by the end of March. This would mean that each animator would have to complete at least 2 shots per week in order to stay on schedule. Luckily, this lines up with the workload that the animators said they could realistically do. So, for this week, everyone was assigned 2 shots (except Sarina who has 3).

We decided that Mondays would be when assignments would be due as well as when we give out new assignments for the week.

Rough Animation

I was assigned Sq2s1 and Sq3s1. I started working on Sq2s1 since it's going to take me a couple days because of its complexity and runtime. This is where they're in front of the apparel store and right before Palabok sees the cloak. It's been turning out really fun looking! I need to work on animating Palabok next. I'm really glad to see how much my animation skills have improved.

This is a work in progress of Sq3s2, done by Rachel. This is at the Chocolate Hills as the ground starts to rumble before we see the Puto Monster. Here Palabok is reacting to the rumbling. I really love how Rachel animated her reaction. The pose is strong and clear even though she's so small in this shot.

Environments

Rachel had finished her rough passes of the Pagkain Village. She had designed and colored both sides of the street this story takes place in. We had to design the other side of the street since there are shots where we can see it either behind Palabok or we're in the apparel store looking out the window.

I also had Hinata working on designing the Chocolate Hills. I had sent them references of the real Chocolate Hills in the Philippines and had instructed them to basically replace the hills with literal chocolate chips and they did a great job! I didn't instruct them about the time of day that it takes place so I'm glad they knew the story and made it in the afternoon!

Closing Thoughts

Despite the unfortunate events of last week, I feel a lot more confident this week in terms of schedule. If I did the math right then I believe we can finish on time. We understand that there will be times when people can't finish their assignments but Sarina and I are ready to take over when that happens. It just feels good to finally be moving onto production and actually animating. It feels like it's been forever since I last animated something (in reality it's only been a little over a month).

Guys I came up with an idea for a Sanders Sides story idea and did a couple drawings and then thought this won't do it justice, so I thought about making an animatic, but that takes forever and I don't have a decent drawing program, so I started writing it. Guys I haven't written anything that wasn't for school or short poems in two years. I am beyond excited. It is half done and I need to go to bed, but I'll try to finish it tomorrow morning, edit it tomorrow evening, and post it. Yeep!
