it'd piss off her fans

she's overused her potential and hogged a lot of unnecessary screentime. her schtick as a villain is extremely overpraised especially when the main twist in ep 6 that marked her first significant accomplishment didnt even make sense. you're telling me that somehow, from hearing someone say one single word, she went through all the possibilities (including overhearing a confessional from the outside) and concluded that someone was downloading the confessionals?? despite no one knowing about mk's geek persona in addition to it never having been accomplished in the history of the show before? really? they could've at least had more interesting buildup to that twist, and have julia's "clues" actually have substance because otherwise the writing was very flimsy

she's not that complex of a character canonically. it may be difficult to hear but it's objectively true

it'd piss off her fans

her villain persona is just straight up being a bully about things that arent related to the game at all. it's laughable that people call her heather 2.0 when heather certainly had a personality past being an asshole and nothing else. "but we need more mean women in media!" julia fans also hate MK and millie for that exact reason! be consistent about it.

the pre-merge boot order this season was nasty. every single pre-merge boot had potential, even more so than julia (whose personality could immediately be guessed the moment her design was released. whoop-de-doo!)... i'd like more time for dynamic characters next season and not static ones.

julia's twist was very predictable. her entire character is predictable. she's the character everyone thinks they relate to while in reality they're more of a millie. but who's surprised that people prefer the skinny white tiktok girl over the most realistically written character in the show

with all her canon screentime in the show, she's developed very little. i think it's unfair to have her be a screen hog a second season in a row when she already had her time to shine and hardly did anything unique with it. we finally get the most diverse cast this show has seen and yet everyone wants more of the most boring type of character we've already seen in 700 other shows

seriously i don't get why people think she's all that. just step outside for a moment and you'll find an entire sea of people who are exactly like her, in both appearance and personality. calling her the best villain in the history of td is ridiculous and laughable and even mal was more entertaining for me to watch. at least he was funny

So, second week of 15 Minutes with KPTS, which is about the time Ep 1 takes to pull back and begin showing us the families of our titular protagonists, notably their main drivers/motivators, aka Korn re: Kinn and Chay debt Chay re: Porsche.

I went a little past 15 minutes last week, and arguably, that extra minute and a half could also slot in here, as it mainly includes the Bodyguard Farm rolling up to rescue Kinn from a gas-station parking lot in the middle of Plebtown – which is our first look at Ken, Arm, Pol and Blurry Pete – and that’s kind of Kinn’s home environment, if you wanted to stretch it. (The bodyguards rolling up in fancy cars, not a gas-station parking lot in the middle of Plebtown. More’s the pity. It would probably be good for him, given the way he enjoys the wilderness in Ep 6.) We actually already saw a bit of this, as Kinn’s walking out of the family compound to the car when the ep opens, which is only just now hitting me – we get introduced to both Kinn and Porsche “on the job” before moving to home/family in the first half hour, and the fact that home is also technically “on the job” for Kinn tells us something about how he always has to have work face on – there’s no real private space for him to escape to, he lives in the family compound, where the family does business, which means that everything, at some level, is business, and he's never NOT the Heir To The Theerapanyakul (Mafia) Empire. That boundary blurring has not and will not serve him well.

So, we technically get Kinn’s home/family environment as the first one we have exposure to, and it’s pretty cold and emotionally off-putting, if glammed up (poor little rich boy?). But from here, we cut to Porsche on his motorcycle, rolling up to his slightly shabby home lit up in warm and inviting tones of yellow, with fairy lights in the trees and a swing in the yard and candles burning in the house, and where we’re introduced to more plot points than we realize at the time: Pictures of Namphueng and Red-Shirt McKittisawasd, along with Chay and Porsche; “Uncle” Arthee, after going a few rounds with someone who’s a better fighter than he is; debt debt debt; and discussion of “Chai,” who came around to collect the rent. Meanwhile, Chay’s trying to patch up Arthee, and apparently it’s a good thing Uncle was around, or they might have hurt Chay instead, and I’m left wondering once again about the actual extent of Bee Pongsate’s imprint on this script, two weeks after watching high-school student Sailom on Dangerous Romance get the shit kicked out of him over payment on a debt while his older working brother/caretaker wasn’t home.

Anyway, we’re immediately given a front-row seat to how overly parentalized Porsche is. The parental figures in the happy family photo are nowhere to be seen and in fact have their portraits set on a mantle between two lighted candles in a display reminiscent of a shrine. Porsche is in charge of family finances (prioritizing Chay’s tuition over the rent), and spends part of this time reassuring his baby brother when Chay apologizes for … existing and going to school. “Uncle” Arthee has (supposedly) lost all his money investing in crypto, looks to Porsche for answers and can’t even feed himself, apparently. Porsche tells Arthee and Chay to eat the dinner he brought home, saying he already ate, which is a blatant lie, and such a Mom poverty thing to do I could scream into a pillow. We’re also going to additionally learn later in this segment that the fighting skills we’ve seen Porsche display in his rescue of Kinn are mainly put to use underground street-fighting, when we smash-cut to a fighting pit that looks like an empty abandoned swimming pool, where guys are kicking the shit out of each other for the amusement of a lot of people in designer clothes who are busy dancing and literally waving around fistfuls of cash in between bouts of guys getting their teeth knocked out. We meet both Jom and the phoenix tattoo at the fighting pit. Apo literally struts around with Porsche’s chest literally pushed out like it’s a literal cockfight. We get our first badly integrated product placement. We get feral Porsche, tongue between his teeth, probably appreciating having somebody to take out his aggression and frustration on. We get Porsche getting kicked in the face, clotheslined and crawling to his feet before finally taking out his final opponent because the promoter told him to draw it out, and then getting shorted his fee because he didn’t draw it out long enough. ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?

I mean, yes – yes, I am, and I’m going to miss street-fighting Porsche when this plot thread just gets dropped later, but I’m also going to point out that there’s a significant single-mom-to-sex-work pipeline and say that the fighting pit is, maybe, another look at Porsche as hustler, particularly the way he’s supposed to fix his bout by extending it. We’ve seen him sell himself as sex appeal in his job at the bar, and he’s selling his body here just as much as if he was selling it for sex, and no less than he’ll be selling it to the Theerapanyakuls in order to help pay off debt and Chay’s tuition by working as a bodyguard + whatever kind of extra relationship Korn was envisioning with Kinn. Korn will buy Porsche as a companion for Kinn, just as surely as Kinn pays for the time and services of those very tasteful escorts we see him with, and I will remember all of this, every single bit of it, when we learn certain things later about Korn Theerapanyakul.

Anyway, back to the scenes with Chay and Arthee, and speaking of hindsight during a re-watch, I was very interested in watching Arthee’s face when he looks at the watch that Porsche brought home. When you know his background, you can realize he recognizes it, and it’s one reason he’s so apprehensive when he asks if Porsche stole it. He supposedly takes it and pawns it, but I have my doubts whether that actually happens or if he just shows up at the servants’ entrance of Chez Theerapanyakul with it in hand to return to Korn and gets given some money to make his story seem plausible. There’s also a point here when he apologizes to Porsche and says that he’s supposed to be helping them but he’s only making things worse. With re-watch hindsight, I have a moment to wonder how many levels he means this on, before I then suddenly wonder if this sadsack motherfucker is actually Vegas Theerapanyakul levels of manipulative and is using the truth to garner sympathy.

We spend less time with Kinn in this 15-minute segment, and the scene in Chez Theerapanyakul begins with Chan showing up typically stone-faced to report to Korn on the extent of Big’s gunshot wound and expected recuperation time, which is apparently months. Which is interesting, because as disposable as the bodyguards seem to be at other times, I’m a little surprised they’re willing to keep a winged one around for months of light duty – does he have to take a cut in pay? Or is Big special somehow? On hearing this, Korn looks around and asks “So, are you happy now?” in a “See how you fucked up?” tone of voice, and we pull back to see that Kinn is in attendance on his father, standing behind Korn and his potter’s wheel, where Korn is badly forming some kind of vessel and metaphor out of clay, attempting to mold it to his wishes (:coff coff:).

I suddenly realize that this is the first thing we ever hear Korn say to his son: “Are you happy now (that you have made a mess of things)?” Well, that’s going to set a trend. Also, if Porsche is overly parentalized in this segment, then by contrast, Kinn gets treated a lot like a recalcitrant child, an impression that isn't helped by his acting like one. He’s got his head down as Korn scolds him, telling him that, in this business, he needs to know his place (OH, REALLY, Puppetmaster?) and talking about how, when Korn was starting out, he had be be respectful and bring gifts. Kinn’s had his head down this whole time, but this is the point when we get a shit-eating grin as he reassures Korn that he sent Don an apology gift – a pile of goons literally tied up in red ribbon, we see. Kinn’s clearly amused with himself. Chan’s still stone-faced. Korn leaves, and Kinn looks at a computer tablet, which we eventually see has security camera footage from the alley of Porsche saving his ass from machete killers. (Oh, shit. Does that mean somebody’s got footage of every time Porsche fucked a customer, plus the VP meeting from Ep 13?)

Kinn wants to know if Chan's found Jom, yet.

Because that’s what Porsche said his name was.

after the first two episodes said "it better pick up" (like move along faster) but he did laugh a few times

asked who Stede was played by, thought it might be "one of those Monty Python guys"

asked who Jim was played by, thought it might have been a rock and roll singer

liked the actors he already knew, like Leslie Jones and Kristen Johnston

went "oh no" when Izzy, Fang, and Ivan showed up

was like "well, we might as well keep going" after every episode (we ended up watching the whole thing straight through)

thought Izzy should have been eaten by an actual kraken when he rowed off in ep 6

seemed interested in the toe scene

laughed real hard at the piano falling on "Stede"

at the end he said that it felt slow, but there was a lot going on and you'd have to watch the whole first season to understand a second season, and then said he thought it would have been more risque, like with more jokes, like Will & Grace

we also watched Free Guy later and I was like "look, that's the guy who played Blackbeard" and my dad was like "yeah, I could tell from the jawline" (unimpressed)

-LOVE THE WAY THE GHOST ZONE LOOKS. but theres fucking ghost cops??? ghost jail??? that SUCKS imagine dying and going to jail in your AFTERLIFE. danny going to JAIL WAS NOT something I expected. but seeing all the enemies together and work with danny to bust out. SO ICONIC I love that actually. and the thing about real world stuff acting as ghosts in the ghost zone is very cool.

-'there are some things more important that hunting ghosts!' mrs fenton says, about her husband forgetting their anaversary (FOR THE 18TH YEAR IN A ROW?? CHRIST) and not about, idk, their son clearly freaked out. she didnt even notice he was gone into the ghost zone!!! he might be a bad husband BUT shes not the best mom. they suck and I don't care about their relationship problems I care about these kids. danny doing his best to clean the house to keep his mom from getting mad at his dad?? hes such a good boy I want to cry, this is not his place, his dad should be cleaning his own shit up!!!

Thank you so much for commenting!! That post was me just rambling out my own thoughts about the two ships, and I originally didn’t plan on sharing it publicly, but since I love reading other people’s posts like that, I figured maybe someone might enjoy mine too 😊 And I’m SO HAPPY you did!! 💜

I said a lot in my previous response to you, so for your sake and for anybody reading I’ll refrain from repeating myself (when it comes to Free! and my thoughts/opinions, I could repeat myself 10000x and not even bat an eye ...but I won’t do that to y’all haha). But YES Makoto is a precious big squish, his friendship with Haru is important, and MakoHaru do care so so much about each other. No sense in trying to undermine that.

BUT THE RINHARU RELATIONSHIP 😩💥🔥🤯😭😭. I LOVE that you used the word visceral, because that’s it EXACTLY. Haru has a visceral reaction to Rin—and vice versa, but the fact that HARU reacts this way is powerfully telling of just how much he feels about Rin. From the very first episode, Haru barely reacted to anything—he was a rather apathetic teen who really only longed to be in the water. But then enter in Rin Matsuoka, and not only does Haru viscerally react whenever Rin is mentioned, but he also has multiple flashbacks of RIn before he even knew Rin was back in the country.

Because Haru doesn’t react this way—so raw and, and you said, viscerally—with anyone else, I just cannot see him not having special feelings for anyone else aside from Rin. It just makes sense, as he never showed these kinds of feelings towards anyone else in his life since the time Rin returned to Australia after their falling out-race. For me, If there really was potential for a reciprocated ship-relationship between Haru and any other character aside from Rin (within the context of Season 1), it would’ve either happened already considering Makoto had been there the entire time and no sparks or flames, or Haru would’ve been so focused on a new character that wasn’t Rin who had newly entered his life (which, as we know, he wasn’t). But no, Haru was so fixated on Rin, it completely baffled Rei, the newcomer to the group, as to why Haruka was so obsessed with Rin. I mean, if that alone doesn’t blatantly confirm that Haru has some pretty strong feelings towards Rin, then idk what to tell folks who are in denial. 🤷🏽‍♀️

KID!RIN IS THE REASON I FELL FOR ADULT RIN. Like, I knew that this bright and dazzling shooting star of a kid was still in Rin somewhere, and since that Rin stole my heart within the first 75 seconds of the anime, by default part of me was stolen by adult Rin, too haha (though ngl, it took like 4 episodes for me to start sympathizing with him, but when I did wooooosh!! XD). AND YES THE WAY I DIED DURING EPISODE 12!!! I literally covered my mouth and was silent-screeching into my hand, waving my other hand wildly in the air, had to pause the video to collect myself multiples times and basically fell apart and lost my mind over the entirety of episode 12 😂 I have my “recap” here if you’re interested in getting a closer look at my subsequent meltdown, haha.

Lovecraft country really made Tic a whole ass war criminal. Executed a woman in cold blood. Had a gun to Ji-ah’s face and didn’t even remember it when he saw her days later. Tortured and killed her best friend. I hate this. The first three eps were So good then it all went to hell. They’re doing the same harmful tropes to indigenous and Asian characters that white narratives do. Think I’m done watching tbh.

I was saving this to try to arrange my thoughts but I should probably answer it before I forget them entirely. 

I can’t disagree, all that was there and disappointing, in addition to the handling of queerness and WOC three eps in a row, but to me that all’s a symptom of why I don’t want to watch: it’s far more about themes and messages and the plot for that particular ep than it is about the characters organically playing out a story. And that’s just not for me. In the first three eps I thought I could tolerate the distance but apparently it also means this real disregard for the characters. 

It wasn’t even this ep after which I thought that, it might have been 4 or 5, I remember being kind of puzzled and telling my friend, we know less and less about these characters, this far more a characters serving the plot than the plot serving the characters kind of show. But I still watched. And the gore and body horror was a LOT but I still watched after 5. But then 6 gave me the same unpleasant feeling I got watching The Terror s2, where it’s like, we’re already in a damn war, and only now focus on these people already suffering so much, this is the only context you wanna tell this story in? I ended up pausing the ep and looking up comments to see what happened and was like, I don’t even know why I’m watching this. I don’t know or really like these characters, however much I like the actors. I hear the next ep is big for Aunjanue Ellis so I might come back for it, and to see the aftermath of the William/Christina reveal, if we get one.

For some reason, the first season officially ending its television run over here in The States has bummed me out even more, despite my having properly finished the season weeks ago and having already completed at least 5 full re-watches at this point.

I guess it just feels extra scary now about the fate of our dear Sanditonians? Sanditonites? Regency Cinnamon Rolls? Whatever you want to call them - I have this odd feeling of missing them even though I can watch them pretty much anytime I want. Is that weird? Am I weird? Don’t answer that!

Even though things are up in the air and I often say to myself "I kind of wish I never watched Sanditon..." (because FEELS, y'all) I'm so so so glad I did. I haven't been touched by a show or story or characters like this in a very long time. They will always be with me, I will always have random Sanditon quotes and scenes and images in my brain, and I will adore and cherish this series for the rest of my life.

FINGERS STILL MASSIVELY CROSSED THAT THE GODS BE KIND AND GIVE US A PROPER ENDING IN A SECOND SEASON.

I started watching deca-dence

1: oh what was that called. there’s a name for this tech aesthetic.... also the city is floating on monster goo which is also their energy resource... is that really a good design?????? why is there open access to the monster goo i mean those kids are totally going to fall in. Oh boss dude’s a super secret agent thing. lots of reveals this ep. That action sequence at the end was really cool but wow i do not like those squishing sound effects. also, of all the livestock to raise, why cows??? per pound of protein, cows are horribly inefficient especially when land and resources like water are scare.

2. We have a post apocalyptic society and they kept bagpipes of all things??? I’ve noticed this in fiction and perhaps this is true of real life but sustained conflict coincides with the glorification of the warrior/soldier social class. oh god and now the creators are doing a post moderist take, yay capitalism. this is a good take on the isekai “transported to a game world”/mmo lightnovel genre (see past post). what makes something “real” I was playing of a ttrpg around that concept... mikey’s got all the flags to die horrifically and be part of kaburagi’s tragic backstory. lol kaburagi got turned into a mod. There’s also something dehumanizing and horrifying in managing a society like this all to maintain the status quo. so let’s see if I have this straight, the remnants of capitalism made deca-dence and then a bunch of little robot people who are incentivized via a game system to destroy the squishy monsters. the city design makes sense now it wasn’t made with things like safety or efficiency or any regard for the residents in mind, it was made to look cool. Living in a fuel tank is exactly the type of bullshit to expect from a videogame.

3: kurenai has the vibes of that one cool npc that the the main character out grows to show how strong you’ve become. (the trope is rife with misogyny. who was the one that talked about it? ... femfreq?), wonder what the show will do with it. good job deconstructing the instant expert trope. lit. unregulated capitalism. what is corporations replaced government but for little cyborg people. curious about this minato guy. the 175 years until decommission or whatever makes me wonder how long all of this has been going on. on the screen with the eurasia bubble, were other structures, so i wonder whats happening elsewhere in the world.

4. the game trailer style shots.... the juxtaposition of the tankers discussing battle strategy for a life or death situation, with the cyborgs excited for the next raid event and talking about the game’s story is real good. its a revolving door of mood whiplash. oof dramatic irony since the entertainment corp also seems to control gadoll numbers. Why do none of the Power wear armor? oh right aesthetics and game logic, i answered my own question. I was thinking about this for a little while but kaburagi really does have the set up to be an isekai/mmo light novel protag so I’m really glade we have natsume as well. If done improperly her character type can get kind of annoying, the show did a good job of humanizing her which is important since so much of the disconnect between a game world and a lived reality hinges on her. why isn’t altitude sickness a problem for anyone?

5. yikes. saved twice within the first 10 minutes. maybe dont charge in there natsume. and it was the cool lady too! oh shit limit release. now the stakes are up. isnt kaburagi totally going to get his little head chopped off and the his little green battery extracted.

6. I’ve always had a soft spot for the struggle against the inevitable and unmovable. i was wondering how they were managing the squishies population. just where is this lake? what weird ass hazing system has kaburagi ended up in... is this the slow part of the anime? where they save up frames for the finale?

7. i just realized that kaburagi purposefully chose dog faced characters twice in a row. like he can choose to look like whatever he wants and he good, i feel comfortable looking like this. good for him. How did they punch a hole in the wal anyways, mechanically? with gadoll? We’ve see that they can either change the projection surrounding deca-dence, or actually have full control of all material int he bubble. oh kabu-san you are finally starting to think. but its not the gadoll that are the root of the problem, its the deca-dence system. btw since cyborgs run on the green juice which i think is made from gadolls??? how does kabu plan on fueling everyone. he hasn’t thought about it has he. of course the gadoll have a kill switch. do the tankers have one...?

8. a setup episode. my heart was racing during the avatar retrieval part, so much tension. jill is great. not sure why kaburagi doesnt just tell natsume whats going on. i do think it’d be a shock and a lot to take in just like when the gadoll reset on the mountain, but it’d make coordinating much easier. as is taking her along while not telling her whats going on doesnt feel right. also the green slanty eyed cyborgs given me bad vibes from the start, after all he’s the one that told mikey about removing the limiter. I’m kinda sad we only have 12 episodes so we have to enter the finale already. i would have loved to see the tanker teams, natsume and fei, and minato and kaburagi relationships fleshed out.

9. YEAH YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD HER EARLIER. so she would have time to process all that world shaking information not in the middle of the operation when it could cost her her life! also doesn’t this mean all the cyborgs still alive are now trapped in the waste disposal place.

10. i totally forgot about that tunnel. that said it looks kinda fragile, how’d it survive the explosion? And how did the robo crew get a hideout?? jill is amazing. she’s like a wizard. Natsume just doesn’t get a break, no ones explained to her the cyborg-avatar thing. I’m too invested in this show to analyze anything.

11. holy shit i wonder what the last few episodes were going to be about. they’re going to black hole the whole place. also we can finally hear pipopi! I thought it a bit funny pruple nose seemed to be taking advice for them but really eh was taking orders? so minato did the tremendously stupid thing of logging out and then hopping on a shuttle to get from orbit to deca-dence so he could talk to kaburagi face to face. even if they take out the gadoll, that doesn’t stop the deca0dence system from having a kill switch on the bubble.

12. POMDOROSA DID THE END SCENE ART. it really is 7 degrees of separation, they have a tumblr here. right as the natsume flashbacks started, I knew what was going to happen. Was it really safe inside the drill thing?? ah whatever. Kaburagi really went all out and busted himself huh. He probably didn’t actually need to use so much force that it’d break decadence. ah I’m rambling. I binged watched this show in 1 day. i started tearing up at the natsume flahsbacks... I dont remember what i just watched it was pure experience. I do wonder whats happening on other continents.. Jill! I can’t believe it took you 3 years to organize your files and find kaburagi’s backup! well i mean its realistic but still.

Deca-Dence is very good, like not even talking about the thematic stuff the execution in both animation and writing are both really good.

Dramas I’ve Been Watching in January

Thoughts under the cut because I wrote a lot (pretty much spoiler-free). The first row is all dramas I started in nov/dec.

My Mister (finished)

lonely young woman in lots of debt will stop at nothing if it helps her and her grandma survive, until someone treats her with kindness.

very emotional. so much pathos that, if you’re anything like me, it will become hard to watch at times.

there’s a bit of comedy here and there, especially with the brothers, to counterbalance the darkness. plus i ended up loving the actress character.

excellent cast all around. every single character has layers (ok maybe not everyone at the office, i can think of one evil man in particular). IU shines in this. she doesn’t say a lot but she doesn’t need to.

i think it shows what being poor and isolated is really like. it’s not only that you don’t have money or connections, it’s also that you’re missing opportunities that you didn’t even know existed. simply because there was never anyone to tell you about them.

love the community aspect.

Psychopath Diary (finished)

amnesiac man becomes convinced that he is a serial killer.

possibly the weirdest kdrama I’ve ever watched.

has great comedy, somehow the silly stuff manages to coexist/blend in with much darker topics (loss of identity, mental illness, suicide, murder, etc). Yoon Shi Yoon is probably one of the reasons that it works so well. Very convincing psychopath smile.

also great ensemble cast.

my only quibble (and that could have to do with me binge-watching the first 6 ep or so) is that the “omg i’m a murderer” part of the story dragged on a bit longer than I would’ve liked.

also there is almost no romance so if that’s a prerequisite for you then you might miss it.

i love a drama title that makes sense on all levels. like, this one already worked because the diary is the most important object in the story and we learn that at the very beginning. but then the last ep added another layer and i really appreciated that.

Crash Landing on You (ongoing, 10 of 16 ep watched)

i’m not sure this drama needs any introduction at this point but

influential south korean businesswoman accidentally ends up stranded in north korea, gets rescued by handsome righteous captain Ri.

i love this drama so much. i’m not sure what they’d have to do to make me hate it. it would have to be very bad.

makes me laugh, cry, stare blankly ahead while thinking about it.

Joy of Life (29 of 46 ep watched)

21st century character is sort of reborn in what looks like ancient china, with memories from his past life intact.

could very well become my fav cdrama.

great plot, very funny, but with some emotional scenes as well.

main character has so much charisma! never ever gets boring.

cute romance, even if it’s not the main storyline.

complex and smart women. i can think of four already just off the top of my head. that’s not necessarily a feature of cdramas in my experience.

i need to catch up!

Flower Boy Next Door (finished)

ok this one is on every kdrama list ever

lonely writer meets exuberant video-game maker who helps her overcome her social anxiety, I guess.

i see why it’s a classic. i particularly liked all of the neighbours a lot.

it’s much shorter than dramas nowadays, feels like. episodes are only about 40 min long, in the 16 ep format.

i liked it fine, and i did tear up at one point (when the leads were having the big fight), but i was in no hurry to watch the last 4 ep for some reason. i didn’t find the “to go to spain or not to go to spain” bit that compelling and i’m not sure why.

Chocolate (6 of 16 ep watched)

this one is surprisingly hard to summarise.

neurosurgeon and cook who met each other as children are reunited by fate again and again, until they become a couple, i assume.

it took me 3 whole episodes to get into it. i think it’s due to the structure. there’s a number of flashbacks and then leaps in time from one point of view, then another. that just made it really hard for me to focus and care about the characters.

also when i sense a love triangle where the 2 people are decent options i tense up lol.

i really liked ep 4 to 6 though! i finally care about what’s happening.

hopefully less brain surgery from now on because i hate these close ups. i love the food though.

Eun Joo’s Room (finished)

Eun Joo quit the job she hated and she’s struggling to give her life meaning. with help from her best friend, she discovers a new talent.

this one was short and sweet (it’s only 12 ep).

very cute romance. (i don’t think it’s really a spoiler to say it’s a friends-to-lovers.)

this is a very good “i’ve had a long day and i don’t want to think too hard” drama. also a “i don’t know what i’m doing with my life pls tell me it’s gonna be ok” drama.

you might feel like picking up a brush and repainting your walls at some point. they will even explain how after the credits.

this might seem like a silly question but do you think tae has been okay this past year? i used to be super into bts 2013-17 and im getting back into them again so ive been watching run bts but he seems so much more quiet than i remember, ive only watched the last maybe 6 eps but i was just wondering do u think hes just tired or is this something thats been consistent? idk how to phrase my question properly i hope you understand

i dont want to psychoanalyze him too much (and have already been accused of doing so nd been attacked bc i once said i relate to him a lot in terms of my autism nd that seeing him makes me happy but. whatever lol) so i’ll just go by what he shared w us nd what is known. i’ve been a fan since 2014 and knew the group since 2013 so i will share what i know and read throughout the years. i hope my answer is a bit more helpful than the quora pages where people ask something similar to your ask (but with infantilizing nd ableist language instead) but in the end, i don’t know him nd just go by interviews and past observations.

Taehyung has shared w fans that he has been feeling depressed the past year and dealt w sleeping problems, which i think he has mentioned in a few times but the first one i can think of is in his interview in Weverse magazine, where he discusses how tired and down he’s felt in 2020. He also explains his thoughts behind the song Blue & Grey, which is meant to comfort people in that sort of headspace. while i think he has become more quiet over the years in general, you can def see his mood change the past year. as a side note, i notice the same about the other members when watching old concerts and such. they put a lot of effort and energy into activities they could do lately but i was still really caught off guard seeing how much more happy and excitable they all looked when in front of a real audience. which is all understandable of c bc as they noted before, an audience recharges their energy of course.

i thought he had become generally more reserved over the years, even before 2020. fans have speculated it is because his grandmother (who raised him for 10+ years nd whom he had a great bond w) had passed away and he has even received a lot of hate for expressing at a show that she died as he was portrayed as ‘attention seeking‘. a good friend of him also died by suicide in 2017 and in 2018 his grandfather died. these deaths are some of the possible reasons he might be looking less excitable.

in bts festa 2019 the members talk about how much more taehyung has matured over the years, e.g. being more mindful of others. Tae adds that he changed his mind on what happiness means for him, as he used to think it meant when everything was great for him, but later on he realized that it made him most happy when all members are happy together and when he sees the positive in things. so there’s a part of maturity there in terms of being less careless / stubborn / free-spirited, even if (as the members state) that is also what used to draw in fans back in the day because he drew attention in shows.

so it’s not per se bad he became more quiet / reserved and less stubborn as it helps be mor considerate of other ppl and he reflected on how he could make the most out of difficult situations.

i’m not sure if it was him too but members have mentioned in songs and interviews (I thought also Jimin did so in the same festa but i couldn’t find the moment quickly) that many people have tried to get close to them, just because they found them interesting for their fame but not care for them. the group has become more critical to such interests and cut off people who mistreated their openness. this might not per se be the whole reason for him smiling less or a reason at all, but his character did change over the years.

it might be important to add that his character / vibe (which i will rather refer to as autistic traits than any of the ableist language people online use :S ) is what drew a lot of negative attention by netizens, such as when he mentioned his grandma on tv, or when he cried on mama 2018 stage, or when he mouthed along to a song when they won an award in 2015. him just being goofy and happy were falsely flagged as misbehaviour in controversies caused by (then) larger fandoms that tried to undermine bts.

i am in no way saying Taehyung is the only one targeted or anything. i actually really hate that framework considering all of bangtan have been targeted by hate nd went through hard times mentally as a whole. and there is a HUGE issue recently within the fandom, where solo stans of tae have been popping up, who pretend bangtan mistreats tae and that he needs to go solo. which is just insulting considering he keeps emphasising they are a group /family and that he wants people to care for all of them and not just one. what i meant to say instead is that his behaviour has changed a lot bc it has been criticized a lot.

and as a final note i want to say that it is not particularly unnatural for Tae to be more quiet / depressed / reserved. i remember that early on in my army days, either in early 2014 or early 2015, Tae was not active on social media and generally more reclusive to the public for several months in a row. then too, people speculated he was tired or overwhelmed or depressed and idk if that is true, he was just less present to the public, but i meant to address that in the past too he could be more quiet or reserved at times so it’s not completely new or different for him to be more in the background. which is totally ok and in this case, we know he is more down and why. i dont think the members are obligated to talk to us about their mental or physical health, but i do appreciate them speaking up anyway bc it is very reassuring nd opens up healthy conversations.

TLDR; tae’s personality and public persona did change over the years, for both bad and good reasons, but morever it is true that he struggled w being depressed and w sleeping problems (as he himself discussed). the pandemic doesn’t help those issues.

10 Things that would’ve Improved the Game of Thrones Final Season (For Me)

So it came to my attention that recently it was the First Anniversary of the Final Episode of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’. I was taken back to my memory of the BinGOT thing we had at work where we all made predictions of who lived, died and ‘won’ from the last ep (I was in 2nd or 3rd place). And since my mother has started binging it during quarantine I thought in the spirit of that environment I’d discuss a little what I would’ve changed in the final season.

Spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8 Below, if you haven’t watched it then you’re better off not reading this frankly, if you haven’t been spoiled already at least.

So for starters, the final episode is not the worst tv I’ve ever seen, it just was a sloppy final season in general that really didn’t satisfy the 2 years of hype waiting for it, it’s like with the How I Met Your Mother finale, but that annoyance being more than one episode. But without further ado here are 10 things I would’ve changed about the final season Note: Most will involve the finale. The first 2 episodes were great.

10 - Ten Episodes The Long Night was 1 episode, the LONG NIGHT. A Culmination of the army of living and dead confined into one episode. One of the main problems with the final season was that the pacing was a bit rushed, it made character progression seem unnatural and dropped long-built plot points like water through a sieve. With 10 episodes, which was not a big ask given that this was the usual number and the gravitas of it being the final season would easily allow it to be green lit. D&D immediately backed themselves into a corner by giving a limit they weren’t used to and too much content to put in.

9 - Bite of the Spider Varys’ death was an upsetting start of the penultimate episode, while I would’ve loved him to have survived start to end and potentially ended on top (because he’s never shown to be as cunning or dangerous as he is in the books) there was some sense in him dying. However, Varys was shown sending a letter before his arrest and that never came back up, the finale could’ve used this by revealing to the public Jon’s true heritage, which would’ve immediately undermined Dany’s claim and set up a better conflict. Also we never knew what the voice in the flames said to him...

8 - A More Fitting Long Night While everyone probably popped hard for Arya killing the Night King, myself included, the nature of it was rather abrupt. I don’t think anyone can buy that she sneaked past that entire army. I do feel like the Night King was just a MacGuffin for the Long Night, given that he did so little in the actual fight. This is where a multi-part Long Night would’ve been key as well, going from the Night King being immune to Dragonfire to dying a bit later was not a good pace, and we lacked any conflict with Jon like we teased twice, Arya probably wasn’t the most poetic person to kill him either but GoT seldom did poetic deaths (Joffrey, Cersei, Euron). While the Long Night had exemplary deaths like Theon, Lyanna, Jorah and Beric, the Night King fell among the ranks of Melisandre and Edd in terms of meh deaths. The Long Night should’ve been a bigger bloodbath than it was, half the Dothraki somehow survived remember, we didn’t get to see Ghost fight at all either, no giant spiders, a lot of the tension was lost with the way some fight scenes were filmed; it was too easy to read between the lines and not enough characters had any true ‘oh god this person could die’ scenes.

7 - Resolution for the Characters we didn’t See and Plots unresolved With so much funding and finality in the show, there felt like there could’ve been more stuff that could’ve been resolved; what was the Quaith’s prophecy about? What really happened with the Doom of Valyria? Why does Dragonglass and Valyrian steel kill White Walkers? What is Daario doing after Dany died? Were the Faceless Men really that okay with letting Arya wander around knowing their skillset? Nobody hired them to help in the war either. What happened to the remnants of that warlock dude who stole the baby dragons, they sent one scorpion and that’s it, what happens with the Little Birds now that they’re leaderless? Who was Azor Ahai? What were the spirals about? There are a lot of questions the show kinda just, ignored. 

6 - The Mad Queen So, Dany going from ‘I’ll stop if they surrender’ to ‘Burn them fucking all’ was abrupt for many, the majority of fans were not ready or willing to accept turning on their Kaleesi in just one episode. While I could see the conclusion coming from being jumped, losing another ‘child’ and her closest friend as well as her new boyfriend being her nephew and a legitimate threat to her legitimacy despite already pledging fealty, Dany’s descent could’ve used more time, and less naivety.  While the death of the dragon was a huge shock, the idiocy fell on Dany in thinking that Cersei would play fair and wouldn’t try to occupy Dragonstone while she abandoned it. There also fell inconsistency when the same fleet and rows of Scorpion crossbows suddenly got Stormtrooper aim during ‘The Bells’. Euron is a renowned sailor, he ruined a Dornish fleet in a previous season, he may be an annoying bastard but you have to treat his naval tactics with a bit more respect - and make Dany less stupid with Cersei doing Cersei things. A lot of people definitely needed more time in buying the idea that Dany had lost her cool and that she blamed all of Westeros to justify burning everyone unashamedly.

5 - Proper Redemption We all know who we’re talking about. Jaime, Jaime, Jaime. In the end he just proved Olenna’s point didn’t he? And his turn away from redemption was only to serve as an example point for Tyrion to use to convince Jon to kill Dany. Jaime didn’t have to live, but he didn’t have to die rushing to Cersei’s rescue, or even due to Euron stabbing him. If anything Jaime should’ve died with some Honour, to be the inverse of Ned as he was presented in Season 1.

4 - My Lady does not have to mean M’Lady This is probably the most selfish ones of my 10 but as a shipper at my very heart and soul I wanted one, at least one, ship to survive this entire turmoil and Gendry and Arya were that couple. We almost had it as well, but then for some mad reason D&D decided that Gendry, despite literally saying that “none of it will be worthwhile if you’re not with me”, stayed in Storm’s End. Arya’s character endgame was right in her venturing off not being bound by the fact that she’s a noble, but Gendry spent a lot of time not caring that he was of Kingsblood to basically being his Father’s son. He’ll rule Storm’s End, marry some woman to have kids, but he’ll still have fallen into the same pit as King Robert did. It would’ve been much more satisfying and hopeful if Gendry abandoned the titles and land he never wanted or needed to accompany someone he loves and who loves him back on an adventure into the unknown. She’s not a ‘lady’ if she’s only marrying a blacksmith and love is the death of duty.

3 - Sansa is NOT Smart (and gets what she actually deserves) Right. So I really, really didn’t like Sansa. Like, I get it, she got held hostage by the Lannisters, watched her father get beheaded, got accused of murder, learned that her brother and mother died, watched the guy who fancied her mother and kissed her kill her aunt and then got effectively sold to an abuser in an arranged marriage. But Sansa is not the smartest player in the game, it was annoying that they tried to portray her as one, she had one idea that anyone could’ve told you ‘don’t be stupid against Ramsay Bolton’. She spent all of Season 8 mainly giving side eye like a petty bitch, completely trying to undermine Dany despite the two being very very similar (remember Dany was raped, sold off in an arranged marriage and watched family members get killed too) to the point where she was conspiring for Jon to usurp her. And in reality she took her ball and left, she was so pissy that the leaders didn’t pick her to be Queen of Westeros that she literally pointed out her own brother’s infertility, claimed that the North wouldn’t bow to a monarch, then declared herself Queen.  Hide the ‘Yas Queen’ goggles for a sec, this wasn’t empowering she was throwing her own brother under the bus because she wanted to be queen, and she learned far too much from Littlefinger and Cersei’s playbook to actually be a just one. The North is allowed to be an independent nation, but Sansa’s ‘victory’ was more earned by virtue of a lot of shit happened to her than her actually demonstrating qualities to be queen.

2 - Bran Stark can’t come to the Phone right now... While we’re on the subject of Stark children not being fit rulers, Bran. What a cockamamie decision that was. I was 100% behind the destruction of the Iron Throne, but the chorus of laughter with a democratic rule was a bit of a slap in the face. Of all the choices though, Bran had to be near the bottom, it felt completely unearned that he spent literal seasons disconnecting from the world even to the point where he told Meera and Sam that Bran Stark is no longer here anymore only for Bran Stark to magically resurface when a crown is in waiting. I think it defeats the whole Three Eyed Raven thing too, the guy isn’t really one for the people, which is the problem every other ruler before him failed at. If you can’t pick a just person to lead, then why not a council instead? Just using Bran was a poor and messy decision.

1 - THE MOTHERFUCKING VALONQUAR One of the few expectations across all of Game of Thrones was the wondering over whether Cersei was gonna get what’s coming to her, the Maggy the Frog prophecy was going along quite well up until the Valonquar bit, where the younger sibling that was going to choke the life out of her was: bricks. BRICKS! Of all the long-winded prophecy foreshadowings to drop this one was the worst, Cersei (and Jaime) died in underwhelming, thoughtless fashion, the lack of fanfare on killing off one of the best and most ‘love to hate’ villains in the show only cemented the fact that the finale was not able to live up to the hype. True, most of these are small changes, but it’s worth remembering that there was some good coming out of the final season and it was the lack of those little things and attention to detail that led to the season ending on an underwhelming note.

We did however get a good ton of memes out of it, and at work a long-winded discussion on who should get the ‘winner’ 5-points (compared to the 1 correct points) since we had technically agreed that the 5 points goes to “whoever correctly guesses who sits on the Iron Throne” XD I still can’t believe I was right in Drogon melting the throne though that was one in a million

1. Racing the Night 2. War Zone 3. Visitors From Down The Street 4. The Memory of War 5. Ruling From The Tomb 6. Appearances and Other Deceits 7. The Long Road 8. Each Night I Dream of Home 9. despite the impression you might get here, I actually have a terrible memory for details so I’m open to suggestions about things I might have forgotten. @lochley​ already helpfully shared some of their notes with me and I swapped some eps because of it (included in the reasoning below)!

so: as soon as you decide to ignore the uniforms, it’s possible to build something with a better progression, imo. I know some previous orders ignored the uniforms (e.g. JMS Sci-Fi Channel), but they also threw some plot continuity straight out the window. I wanted to a Crusade viewing order with the best possible sequence of development, as long as you were willing to overlook the alternating uniforms and politely ignore the couple of conversations about changing them!

first I thought about what absolutely had to go in a certain order, then what I would prefer to go in a certain order while keeping in mind how the eps were spaced out in terms of themes/characters/etc. here it is.

Racing the Night and War Zone I think Racing the Night should be the first episode because I like that it starts in media res and it just works better directly after A Call To Arms. watching it anywhere other than first also makes the exposition dialogue very awkward and transparent, especially at the start where they kind of... show who everyone is one by one. I also prefer the Apocalypse Box to be introduced here rather than in the other eps it appears in. War Zone could go somewhere other than second, but I think it’s cool to have an introduction to what they’re doing followed by an explanation of how they got there. imo War Zone should be shown early regardless. no existing order has these two in a row, so this is a pretty big deviation!

War Zone before Ruling From The Tomb 100% just so you know who this Trace guy is. then he can disappear back into nothingness.

Visitors From Down the Street I can pretty much put this anywhere. I’m not sure how well it works as the first non-establishing episode, but I needed something here as a cushion between episodes where they actually do mission-relevant stuff... this one was also one of the original First Five shot so I think it works decently as an early ep!

The Memory of War before Each Night I Dream of Home and Patterns of the Soul this order is set in stone because they pick up the info for the nanotech virus shield in The Memory of War. it’s then mentioned in Each Night I Dream of Home and actively used in Patterns of the Soul. I don’t think the info in Each Night vs the info in Patterns implies a particular order unless I’m forgetting something.

The Memory of War before The Well of Forever some dialogue in The Well of Forever references the conversation in The Memory of War when Galen confesses and then immediately verbal backspaces likens the Excalibur to his family. there’s also a continuation of this sentiment expressed in The Long Road which is why I think both should be watched first for maximum impact.

The Memory of War before Ruling From the Tomb this Mars conference is weird when it happens too early because you get the feeling that they haven’t really done enough to justify it yet (e.g. in the Continuity Order). it works well after The Memory of War because it gives Dr Chambers some developments to actually present!

Ruling From the Tomb before Each Night I Dream of Home before The Rules of the Game Lochley episodes! her introduction episode should obviously go first. I say ‘obviously’ but it’s still not the case in some viewing orders... anyway, I think this sequence of three episodes makes the character interactions, particularly between Gideon and Lochley, make the most sense. I also wanted to make sure they were spaced out for good measure.

Appearances and Other Deceits this is one that could go in a lot of different places too. due to the PR team’s arrival, it works better towards the middle or the end. I also have a weak preference for it going before The Rules of the Game on the basis of vague Eilerson character development.

The Long Road as I mentioned earlier, I think this should go before The Well of Forever because of the Excalibur = home sentiment expressed by Galen. it wasn’t a concrete requirement, but it worked with what I already had. I also didn’t like this is as the second ep in the Continuity Order for a handful of thematic reasons so I pushed it later.

The Needs of Earth this one doesn’t really need to rely on anything else, but it’s a good worldbuilding and Dureena-background one so I placed it with that in mind. I also have a weak preference for it going before The Well of Forever because Mr Jones makes reference to Matheson sensing people’s surface emotions, which he apparently does here.I think Matheson’s angst at the end of this episode would also make the scan more upsetting. (sorry Matheson.)

The Well of Forever before The Path of Sorrows no other viewing order has it this way around, but hear me out! (edit: actually one does, nvm.) I don’t know if this is something Matheson could cover it up but it seems like his memory about the telepath resistance from The Path of Sorrows is something he keeps very closely guarded. Mr Jones is meant to specifically be checking up on Matheson’s behaviour while he’s out in the world/on duty and I think he’d probably have a bigger reaction if he saw what was dredged up by the forgiveness alien. I also have a minor preference for info about Isabelle being presented in this order. in terms of just The Well of Forever’s placement, I think it should go relatively late so that Galen hijacking has more impact.

The Path of Sorrows okay, I think Path of Sorrows works well here because it shows us explanations in the form of character backgrounds for some traits we’ve been shown. because I am obviously very biased, I have one issue with it being here: this is Galen’s last ep and it’s not very flattering. it’s also kind of why I do like it here... it saves some significant information for last and properly introduces him properly before showing him at his (TV) worst.

The Rules of The Game since none of the filmed episodes are a good last episode, it’s nice just to finish on B5! even if we have to listen to sleazy sax and then immediately see a metaphorical ship docking.

annnd I didn’t include the unfilmed scripts so that’s it! I’m honestly impressed if you actually read this.

I’ve been recently thinking about getting into Star Wars... but uh..... there’s a Lot of content in this fandom I have absolutely no idea where to start.... talking to my friends who like it has caused them to give me Wildly different orders to watch the movies in and even those change every time I ask (there?? Are different orders? And it still makes sense?).. I’ve noticed you posting some Star Wars content?? I’m so so confused😂 if it’s no trouble, would you mind telling me where to start?

Hello anon!!! You’re right, there is a lot of content in SW, but it’s not as complicated as some might make you believe. Don’t worry, I’m gonna explain it to you!

What makes SW a little confusing is that the movies were not released in the chronological order of what actually happens in the SW universe. You have 3 trilogies, that form the main story for Star Wars. If they are linked, and talk about the same characters (or families), they are also kind of independent from one another. So it doesn’t exactly matter in which order you watch them, you will still understand who is the bad guy, who is the good guy, and what is going on.

The first 3 movies were released in the 70s/80s (the original trilogy). Then the Prequels were released in the late 90s/ early 2000s (they are about the generation that came before the lead characters in the original trilogy). And finally we’ve just finished the Sequels last year (this trilogy is about the generation following the one in the original films). This is why, if you google SW, you find a very confusing order of movies, with Episodes 4, 5 and 6 (Originalsà released before 1,  2 and 3 (the Prequels)!

These three trilogies are the main story for Star Wars. There are other movies and TV shows that were made to explain certain points of the story or give background to characters. In total, it makes a lot of content, and you’re not gonna get into that before you’ve already become a SW fan (except for one movie, because it is actually the best SW movie ever made, but I will come back to that in a moment).

Basically, you have two choices. You can either Watch the three trilogies in the order they came out or by chronological order in terms of timeline in the SW universe. 

If you want to watch the movies in the order they came out, you’ll then Watch the movies in a similar way as you would have if you were waiting for their release in theater. I would advise you to focus on the 3 trilogies and then make your way through the other films if you do that. If you want to do that, you have to Watch the movies in that order :

- Original trilogy, which means SW Episodes 4, 5, and 6

-Prequels which means SW Episodes 1, 2 and then 3

-Sequels which corresponds to episodes 7,8 and 9.

The advantage of this method is that the original movies are brilliant. I for one watched the movies in that order, because my parents showed me the original movies when I was little, the Prequels finished to be released when I was a kid and I went to see Episode 3 in theatre, and I obviously watched the Sequels as they came out. I think the original movies are great to kind of fall in love with the whole thing. The Prequels don't have such a strong reputation in terms of quality, although, I like them (I think Episode 2 is not very good, but the first one was alright, and the third is great!!). They’re not terrible, but I will completely admit that, even if I love them, in terms of pure cinema quality, eps 4, 5 and 6 are better. They’re also super famous, so you should Watch at least these three for your general knowledge of cinema, cause they were groundbreaking at the time.

But the thing is, for you, who are about to start your Journey in the SW universe, all the main movies have been released! So you can Watch them in the chronological order of what actually happens in the SW universe! Which seems to me quite great too, cause then you have the logical development of the story, instead of following one generation, then jumping back to the generation before, and finally going to the next generation of characters. Let’s be honest, the 9 main movies are not complicated enough for you to get lost if you Watch them in the first way I’ve described before, but it’s still nice to follow a story from its origin to its end. Personally, now, when I do a SW marathon, I Watch the movies in chronological order. And I think it’s a great way to discover SW too.

And if you do choose to do that, I would advise you to add one movie into the mix. It’s called Rogue One, and it is my favourite SW movie of all time. And it binds together the Prequels and the Original trilogy. You don't have to watch it, if you want you can just do Prequels, Original, Sequels, but I really love that movie, and the end of the movie is basically the beginning of the Original trilogy, so it’s so nice when you watch both Rogue One and Episode 4 in a row. It really explains what happens in Ep. 4, so if you go for the chronological order, I reckon it’s worth it. And it’s such a good movie. So, it’s a bit of a bonus, but if you watch the Prequels and kind of like SW, then my advice would be to add Rogue One.

So, if you want to watch the movies in a chronological order, you have to watch:

- The Prequels which means Episodes 1, 2 and 3

-Rogue One

-The Originals so Episodes 4, 5 and 6

-The Sequels which correspond to episodes 7, 8 and 9.

These are the two choices you have to start SW. I cannot tell you which one to choose, I reckon it depends on how you want to experience the whole thing. Would you prefer to watch the movies as if you were watching them in theatre as they were released? Or would you prefer to watch the story unfolds in a chronological order? That is your decision, and I don’ t think there is a way that is better than the other.

Season 1: Charlie Has Cancer. I love this so from the depths of my heart. The concept of it was like that first idea rcg had for the show. Nothing will ever be as relatable to me as Dennis trying to get out of that conversation as soon as possible. "You can talk to me any time" ... "Oh you meant now?" Fucking incredible.

Season 2: The Gang Exploits a Miracle. I'm gonna be honest s2 is my least fave season. The episodes are all pretty good. They just don't grip me as much. They are bastards to the best degree in this episode though. I've never been Catholic but I'm obsessed with the rituals and imagery. "Am I gay for God?" (Real talk I made a dream daddy meme to that) I love Charlie in all white and Mac in all black.

Season 3: The Gang Gets Whacked. Everything about this 2 parter is funny to me. (Except when I get sad abt Dennis) But! Pussy Hands. Peter Nincompoop. Jackie said she counted that Mac and Frank slap Dennis 13 times in a row and I love that. I think cocaine is funny. I think ruining Crucket's life further is funny. I think watching this ep after binging 5 episodes of the Sopranos is extra funny.

Season 4: It was very nearly Mac's Banging the Waitress but I am a sucker for a musical and a basic bitch so you know it's The Nightman Cometh. It was one of the first eps I ever saw. My best friend showed it to me then immediately showed me a live recording. I get Dayman stuck in my head often. I love Charlie. Also "I'm eating because I'm uncomfortable" Cat eyes Mac makes heart eyes Jack.

Season 5: Mac and Dennis Break Up. This was the first episode I ever saw. My bff was like "watch this they're gay" and by God were they. I think about the line "Far be it from me to keep the flower of you from flourishing" every goddamn day.

Season 6: Who Got Dee Pregnant? Admittedly I'm very soft for Dee Gives Birth, but I'm hella gay for Jimmi Simpson and Halloween. Also I love the reactions to if Mac had been the one. I am a sucker for characters telling conflicting accounts of the same event. I think Dennis looked hot as Luigi and think he could have worked that without a Mario just fine, he just wanted a couples costume with Mac. I will not encourage incest shippers, but Dennis thinking he might have gotten Dee pregnant is the funniest gd thing.

Season 7: The High School Reunion. I love far Mac with all my heart and if I saw that man at a high school reunion I do not care what rep he had in high school I would be on that. Also irl I had a crush on the high school drug dealer so what are standards? I love Dee immediately jumping on being the nastiest meanest bitch ever. I love the dance at the end. I think Tim and Dennis made out in high school. I'm gay for Jason Sudeikis so seeing Schmitty show up was beautiful. Cricket..... Was there. My only regret is that I already knew Mac's legal name is Ronald McDonald so I did not get to experience that reveal as a fresh concept.

Season 8: The Gang Dines Out. Did you ever know that you're my hero? I love endings where the gang appreciates Dee. Episodes that take place in one set are always great. The Waiter is great. Frank and Charlie havin' an anniversary 💙 Dennis did not have to give that speech in front of a crowd. He was going to tell Mac all those things just to his face. But he needed that whole restaurant to know who the real hero is. Dennis Reynolds said fuck the troops. I still don't know what a Groupon is. Also that table being so close to the kitchen door probably violates OSHA guidelines but thay's not a part of why I like the episode, just an observation.

Season 9: The Gang Saves the Day. I love seeing characters just imagine fantasy scenarios. Dee's is inspirational but should have been gayer. Mac is... Stupid but I love him with my whole heart and I support him imagining Dennis crying over his corpse. All hail our mighty and buff Lord. Love Dennis saying he'd rather die than have a broken dick. Season 10: The Gang Goes on Family Fight. I'm a slut for Argyle sweater vests and Dennis having a mental breakdown. Also Charlie being one of the survey takers was priceless.

Season 11: It should come as no surprise that my favorite of this season (and the series as a whole) is Mac and Dennis Move to the Suburbs. I love every single moment of this episode. I love the breakdown of their sanity. Rage fuels me. People think Dennis is a psychopath but who in this episode is feeding their roommate a dead dog? Not Dennis. What would be different if Dennis was the house husband? You know Wally just wanted to be nice to the gay couple that moved next door but they acted Like That. I'd love to make a longer post just about this episode. Some guy in fb was like "the seasons sucked after sesson 8" and everyone was like "okay but suburbs in season 11 tho" and they guy was like "okay u right" Suburbs is the episode that brings the gays and straights together and will bring us world peace

Season 12: This wss hard cuz I think this is my favorite season overall. And I'm gonna be real controversial here and let you know my fave ep is Dennis' Double Life. I love the concept. I love the convoluted scheme. I would die for Mandy. I know there's a lot with real life stuff happening and how it affected things after but I wanna appreciate it as is. Sometimes you juat have so many big feelings that you run away to North Dakota to be a dad I guess. "I'm the lover obviously" "I have a good plan but you wouldn't listen to it anyway" Did I mention I love Mandy? Maybe it's that I grew up in the Midwest but I understand her on such a deep level. I love this episode so much.

Season 13: The Gang Solves the Bathroom Problem. Every time I go into a bathroom I just think "animal shithouse" nonbinary/genderfluid Charlie rights. Hawaiin shirts. I also love Jimmy Buffett. I love they all sing the wrong song. "As a straight man" in the least convincing way. This episode speaks to me on all levels.
