God was playing a prank on me when he decided I couldn’t draw bc why am I plagued with visions of feminine Neil AND I CAN’T SHARE IT????? Pls I have SPECIFICS.
The internet is talking about Neil again. He’s prone to scandal, but this time it’s not his fault. Conservative exy fans are PISSED bc he decides to grow out his hair past shoulder length and his face is just too pretty (This is canon) so with the long hair combo they think he looks too girly (and ofc Neil claps back with a long response on twitter that basically just says Fuck You but with a Kendrick diss track level of animosity). ANYHOO
One of his favorite fits rn are these oversized overalls that Renee bought but couldn’t fit. He wears them year round with a lose t-shirt on warm days and thick sweatshirts/sweaters on cold days. You’ll often see him around campus in these overalls with his hair down or maybe pulled half up.
And the VISION I had of Neil in 2 French braids that just reach his shoulders. Dan thought it would be fun to braid his hair since it’s gotten so long and Neil genuinely loves the braids and refused to take them out. He looks adorable in his sweatshirt just chilling in the lounge after practice.
Allison teaches him how to do makeup and at first Neil finds it a pointless hassle and quickly decides he doesn’t want to waste time hiding his scars. But the eye makeup was kinda fun and he found he liked playing with the colors and glitter. And he always liked when Andrew wore eyeliner when they go to Edens so he wouldn’t mind putting on some quick makeup when he feels like it. Sometimes it completes the look :)
During after game interviews, Neil has his hair pulled up in a ponytail and he’s wearing his bandana but he still manages to get long strands of hair plastered to his face with sweat and its not not a good look…
Occasionally people spot him on the street during his runs in his usual atrocious running shorts and hair pulled back or walking casually, hair in a bun and his shorts and baggy tee combo (Neil is LUCKY those big ass jorts are trending). One day he sticks a pencil in his bun and forgets about it all day and it kinda slayed.
At banquets and formal interviews/events, Neil likes playing with makeup and wearing loose flowy pants that, when he stands with his legs together, look like a skirt.
Dan and Matt have gifted him a lot of jewelry over the years, so now Neil has a collection of rings and necklaces that he wears occasionally. He likes the look of them but they do tend to bother him if he wears them for too long. They tend to be reserved for Edens or banquets.
Andrew is getting gayer every day but he’s lowkey part of the problem. He studies Neil’s new style and buys him SO much clothes. That man spoils his not-boyfriend so much. He’ll be at Target buying like batteries or smth and then randomly come across pretty hair clips or some pants he knows Neil will love. Oh he’s definitely responsible for Neil’s entire shoe collection bc that man would wear the same ratty old sneakers every day if it weren’t for the red converse and doc martens that Andrew bought him.
Anyhoo, that’s pretty much it. It’s been almost 2 years since he’s been on the run and Neil’s realizing what his style really is. Clothes have no gender, he likes the look of his long hair (which is very different from his dad’s hair), and he’ll wear whatever the fuck he wants thank you very much.
#aftg#neil josten#long hair neil josten#feminine neil#he says fuck you to gender roles#the brainrot is real#i would die if someone drew this#i have two (2) pennies to offer#i know long haired neil isn’t exactly new#but i’ve been having visions

Yandere batfam one shot/imagine thing
I'll probably make a part 2
You met Bruce while you were working as a waitress for a gala. It was a second job to pay rent. Maybe he brought Selina or some other girl or maybe he came alone.
Either way you two end up in a room together and end up sleeping together. Just as you’re pulling on your clothes he asks to see you again. He even offers you a check (let’s say it’s for 500k). You take the money promising to see him again but you don’t for about a year.
After a year of him searching every corner of Gotham he finally finds you. And surprise surprise you have a three month old baby girl.
He goes up to you and begs you to let him be in the baby’s life. After a few weeks of bribes (and him secretly stalking you) you finally make a deal with him. If he works from home he can take care of the baby during the day.
So you brought your baby to the Wayne Manor. You expected maybe a servant or maybe Bruce to answer the door. You were not expecting a young man to open the door. He had short shaggy black hair with an undercut and a K-pop hair style. He stared at you with his piercing blue eyes-
“Tim drake! That’s who you are! I used to love watching your let’s plays! I love your sense of humor!” Tim was surprised. Being the middle child (especially the middle boy) he often feels left behind by his siblings, so having someone notice his accomplishments for once felt nice.
“Drake. What are you looking-” a short boy came up behind the gamer. He had a darker complexion and slicked back black hair with piercing green eyes. You smiled at him and he straight up slammed the door in your and your baby’s face. Your eyes grew wide and your face fell into a scowl.
You heard shuffling from behind the door and when if opened you saw Tim holding the kid by the scruff of his collar as one would do with a misbehaving animal. “Sorry about that Miss.” Tim smiled at you. “Is there anything I can do for you?”
“I’m going to be late for work. Here give her to Bruce. Her name is Echo.” You give the baby to Tim. “Oh there you go. Support her head now.” You threw the bag in the small rude kids face. “Everything she needs is in there. I’ve left instructions inside for how to take care of her. If she doesn’t eat that much try tickling her tummy. I’ve labeled the extra bottles of her food so if she’s really hungry give her some and if it’s not enough call me I’ll get here as soon as I can. I don’t want her drinking any of that store bought crap. Understand?”
“Yes ma’am.” Tim smiled.
“Good.” You ruffled his hair. Then you turned to the younger boy. “Be good to my baby ya hear? Or else I’ll milk papa Bruce for every penny I can.” You ruffled his hair too. You then kissed your baby and went back to your car.
Tim shut the door and immediately Echo started crying. Bruce and Alfred came running at the noise.
“No… I missed her.” Bruce said. He looked at his three youngest kids. “Hey sweetheart.” Bruce tried to grab Echo. But Tim held her close. Everyone looked at him surprised.
“Father why did that rude lady drop off a baby.” Damian scowled.
“She’s not rude. She’s your future Step Mother.” Bruce smiled at the thought of your and his wedding. “Now Tim, give my baby here. She’s crying.”
“No.”
“No? What do you mean no?” Bruce seemed flabbergasted.
“She trusted me to hold her child. This is my baby sister.”
“Drake! Give father the baby. She’s being loud.” Damian covered his ears. Echo looked over at him and made a grabby hand gesture at him.
“It looks like she wants Master Damian’s attention.” Alfred pointed out.
“but-” Tim was cut off as Damian took the baby.
Echo’s cries grew quiet as her youngest older sibling held her. While Tim’s obsession with You and Echo became apparent almost immediately, giving him the praise his own family and the Media refused to, Damian’s was slow. It started with someone (echo) actually liking him. After all he went from being showered in attention under Talia’s thumb to being practically ignored at Wayne Manor.
Dick was by far the kindest to Damian, being a mentor to the young boy. But he could still bite back at Damian’s snark. Barbara and Stephanie took none of his crap, to the point where they barely spoke to him. Cass and Duke held no qualms about fighting with a kid. Jason was like a cool big brother and while he wasn’t at the manor often he always made most of his time there focused on the kid. Tim and Damian had a very strained relationship. And while Bruce loves Damian there’s always a bit of strain, and guilt on Bruce’s part. If he’d stayed with Talia maybe Damian wouldn’t have to grow up in a cesspool of Violence and mental agony.
“Back to your old ways of not wearing protection father?” Damian smirked.
“Damian… give me my Daughter.” Bruce said gently but firmly.
“Its nice to know you fought for her more than you fought for me. Though to be fair to you Ummi did shove us together.” He snarked as he held the baby who’d fallen asleep. Bruce went to grab her but Damian stepped back. “Ah ta ta. You wouldn’t want to disturb her right?” Damian smirked.
Over the next few hours Damian was mainly the one taking care of Echo if only to stop her from crying.
And at the end of the day when you finally got off work to pick up your sweet baby you were surprised to see Bruce, Damian, and Tim all playing with her in the living room. (What was more surprising was that her attention was mainly focused on the brat from this morning Damian.) She cooed as she saw you and you rushed to pick her up and gather her things into her bag.
Damian glared at you as you took Echo from his borderline iron clad grip. Who were you to take his sister, his blood sister mind you, away form him? (Her mother but we're not going to get into that right now.)
"Sweetness how about you just slow down. I'll have Alfred prepare you a drink. Which kind of tea do you like more Earl Gray or Jasmine." Bruce smiled and twiddled a piece of your hair in his hand.
You smacked his hand away. "No thank you. My baby and I need to get home." You said and quickly hurried out of there.
"Father you can't let her leave!" Damian said.
"Yeah! Don't you want that nice lady to be your wife?" Tim agreed.
"I was talking about Echo." Damian deadpanned.
Bruce ruffled both their heads. "Patience boys. Have a little faith in your old man." He smiled as you walked away. Before the month was out he'd have you and echo safely tucked away in his arms in the deepest recesses of Wayne Manor.

An Uninformed Narrative
Synopsis: You had lived in Stardew Valley for a year before you met the hunter from the adventures guild, Sukuna Itadori. It did not take long for him to catch your attention but you couldn't help feeling as if his affection resided anywhere but you.
Pairing: Sukuna x Reader
This is a Sukuna stardew valley au, heavily inspired by @tearzintheclub's similar series with butcher!sukuna, I highly recommend reading their work, they are super kind and were a big motivation for me to make this!
〰・♡・〰〰・♡・〰〰・♡・〰〰・♡・〰〰・♡・〰
You had been dying for a decade before coming to the valley, still, unmercifully, alive. The bitter years you spent milling away on a computer, endless days blurring onto the next. A monotonous cycle of tireless work for a corporation that left you unfulfilled, complacent, and depressed. Holed up in a city you did not even like.
It was corrosive, only now, a year later, could you look back and realize that life didn't begin for you until you moved to your grandfather's farm.
It had been hard work. You knew it would be. Still, the labor it took to keep up with crops and farm animals had been more than you anticipated. But you had friends now, and goals. And that was more valuable than anything.
One year ago, when you came to the valley, romance was quite possibly the last thing occupying your mind. Only now, being able to comfortably settle into your home, could you allow yourself to think about things other than the prosperity of your land and the health of your animals.
That brings us to now.
You had read books about the Stardew Valley mines back in the mountains north of town. Harvey, the village doctor, had warned you of its treacherous depths. Having focused most of your efforts on farm/house maintenance, you had not traversed into dangerous territory beyond upgrading your tools and acquiring bug meat.
This is why, after a whole year of living in the valley, you were surprised to receive a notice in your mailbox from "The Adventurers Guild", an initiation of sorts, requesting you to slay 10 slimes to be granted entry.
You had thought about it all evening. By the next morning, you felt up for the challenge. After taking care of the chores you left you made your way up past the carpenter's shop, dropped off a fish you caught the night before to your friend Linus, and entered the mines.
It had been scary but you protected yourself well and acquired some gems and geodes to show for it. It was late when you made the trek home, but you were determined to enter the adventurers guild the next day.
It had been a delight to meet Gil and Marlon, the two men who ran the guild. They sold weapons and protective gear, offered rewards for monster slaying, and purchased monster loot. Still having some on you, you traded them in for the cash. With a smile on your face, you decided to go into town to buy some icecream for Yuuji, Jas, and Vincent.
Penny, the town's teacher, had the kids in the museum for lessons until 2 PM, so you traveled quickly to meet them in time.
Penny was always a delight. Kind to everyone, even if they did not deserve it. She was so good with the kids as well, and dedicated much of her time to their education.
You had met Penny just a few days after moving to the town at the local flower shop in the Cidersap Forest. You had learned she was quite fond of Poppy flowers and the owner of the little place, Jin Itadori, was unbelievably generous, always interested in hearing about your farm, and always willing to give out a flower or two.
Yuuji, being the florist's son and Penny's student, became a quick friend of yours and always wanted to talk whenever you came by the shop. Of course, you never minded and listened intently whenever the boy felt like sharing a fun fact about the flora in his home.
--
Time passed with the changing of the seasons and it wasn't long before fall was upon you.
Ever since entering the mines and joining the Adventures guild, you have been thinking about the quests Marlon and Gil have sent you on. Though it is dangerous, scouring the mines for the flesh of monsters, it brings you a thrill to know you are doing something good for the community.
A post had gone up on the community board in town about collecting bat wings and bringing the population down to a manageable level the other day, and in your spare time, you had been working on completing the quest.
It was late one night when you began to make your way back up to the mountains from the mine's elevator, you had quite the collection and enough time to sell it at the Guild before making your way home.
"You've been keepin' busy." Marlon greeted you as the wind pushed the door open along with your arm.
You smile at the man, unloading the backpack of your finds. "Well there's always something to do around here." you reply.
"True as the day is long...." Gil rocked back and forth in his chair, pretending to hear your conversation.
"I must say I'm glad to have you 'round. The quest board in town seems to be worked through much faster now." Marlon takes the post you handed him and the 200 bat wings, he was just about to hand you the payment when the door to the Guild swung open.
The hinges seemed to rattle with the shock of the large man's blow of it. He's huffing, yanking a balaclava up and over his face.
He has thick, pink hair and bright red eyes, he's enormous, having to duck just a bit so as not to hit his head on the door frame.
You looked at him, a bit shocked at his garish entrance. He looks so familiar, but his face is covered in tattoos. A unique style you've never seen before, certainly not in Stardew Valley
Despite being at the counter yourself, the lumbering man strides right up next to you, a crumpled piece of paper in his hand. And just then, you have a thought.
Was he doing town board requests too? He was clearly not from the village, you would have met him by now. But Marlon does not spare him much of a glace, even when a stack of bones and a collection of rings is placed on his counter.
"Those damn haunted skulls are somethin' else." The man looks at Marlon with a gaze of distaste but the Guild leader just laughs. The large man doesn't look at you once.
Despite the chill of fall present in the air, he has sweat glistening on his exposed neck, he runs a hand through his hair and you can't help but notice how handsome this man is. The only thing, who was he? And why was he monster hunting in the Valley's mines?
"You got a problem?" Shocked from your thoughts, you look up. You hadn't meant to stare but upon his antagonized question your eyes bulge a bit.
"No! No, no, sorry..." You turn away, collecting the gold Marlon left out for you, ready to turn and leave when the man behind the counter made a gesture with his hand.
He called your name, "This is Sukuna, likely haven't met em' have ya? He's real reserved and all."
So he lives here? How could that be? "Oh, it's nice to meet you!" You go to shake his hand but he just looks you up and down, effectively dissuading that desire.
"So you're the rookie taking all the board requests in town, hmm?" He looks so domineering, still, even having just met him, you can reasonably assume that's just what his face looks like.
You shuffle where you stand, "Er... maybe so, yes... I'm sorry, I didn't know that was your area..." You wave your hand to the array of loot he had seemingly just acquired. He scoffs.
Marlon looks to you, "Sukuna is our most tenured monster hunter-"
Gil interjects from his rocking chair, "If ever there's a board request this here man can't handle, I know hell's right about frozen over."
The man before them did not crack a smile. A shiver went down your spine.
"I see, well, I live on the farm behind the Cidersap Forest-"
He cuts you off, looking almost annoyed, "I know who you are."
Oh.
Okay...
"Gotcha, sorry, well... it was nice meeting you." Sukuna stares at you for a moment before turning back to the Adventurers Guild leaders.
The awkwardness of the moment was painful, you already know youll be obsessing over this first impression for the next month or so and your shaking leg is telling you it is time to escape the embaressment before this man shuts down any more small talk.
You wonder if perhaps Sukuna is upset with you for "taking his job". Or maybe he had a bad day. If he really had been hunting Haunted Skulls, he had probably been dangerously deep in the mines.
Even though his gaze had been piercing, his frown looked permanent, and his tattoos gave off a highly intimidating look. You could tell there had been no malice behind his demeanor. And that, would be a small comfort as you mulled your way through the darkness.
You spent the whole walk home thinking about the large man. You had been everywhere in Stardew Valley yet had never met him.
He must live out of town, you thought as you checked the weather for tomorrow.
Rain. That meant another day in the mines. You needed an upgrade on your equipment if you were going to continue supplying for your growing crops' demands. That meant plunging deeper into the depths of the mine.
Sleep pulled at you even still, just as your eyes fell shut the memory of the pink-haired man popped back up into your brain.
His shirt stuck nauseatingly to his toned chest, his neck glimmering in the firelight of the guild, and those eyes. The red, sharp eyes he had looked you up and down with.
"I know who you are."
It was a small town. Even if you were from the outskirts. It was a shame though... having not met the man before... he certainly seemed interesting.
You shook the man from your thoughts as your dog climbed into the bed and the two of you began to doze off.
Unknown to you, a long and unexpected day awaited you at dawn.

Okay okay last one, I swear!! I just have so many ideas! But three more for the yandere historical au and I'm finished, pinky promise!!
[Part 1] [Part 2]
Master Duelist! Xiao who has never lost a fight. Always challenged, but never the one to initiate, he was one of the reasons your family has such high honor. Even though many lords of higher status have offered to buy him for a pretty penny, he stays loyal to your family. Specifically to you. His opponents who see you in the crowd during their duel, know to just give up, he fights harder when you're watching. Every favor, embroidered handkerchiefs, that you'd given him, hang like trophies in his room. But upon learning that you're to be wed soon, he stands and challenges your fiance to a duel for your hand, one that he knows he'll win.
Butler! Thoma who has been in your family for years. Taken in by your parents and raised to be your right hand, the two of you grew up to be close friends, rather than typical master and servant. Despite this, he still finds ways to scold you, while also telling you how much of a gracious lady you've grown into. Maybe your closeness with him is why you decide to tell him of a rendezvous you're planning to have with a commoner boy that you've grown to like. Only, suddenly your home is more guarded than usual and your parents seem even more strict with you than before, almost like they know something you never told them.
Former King! Zhongli who steps down from his post shortly after his son becomes of age. While he no longer has his title, he's still heavily respected and praised by all. He saw you at a ball and formally invited you to the royal palace. Your family excitedly rushes you into a carriage, thinking the invite is for meeting with the newly crowned King instead. Only, when you get there, Zhongli is truly the only one waiting for you. He sits you down next to him and compliments you almost incessantly, ending the conversation by asking you if you think he's too old to be considering a second marriage.
Forgive me if these are bad!! This is my first time writing for any of these characters and I wanted to try!!

THIS CAN WORK
- as you’re trying to forget about him, the man who broke your heart shows up at your doorstep. or in which jake gets yelled at by the entire hard deck. (jake “hangman” seresin x fem!reader, angst -> fluff, reading part 1 is probably a good idea but idk if it’s 100% necessary)
PART 1
word count: 2,032
a/n - the official part 2 is here!! thank you for all the love part 1 got <3 i’m not personally the biggest jake fan but writing this was honestly so fun. i loved exploring the softer and more insecure parts of his personality, so i may have more planned for him in the future 👀
It’s been two days since Jake cut you out of his life, and to say you’ve been devastated is an understatement. You still have his shirts and his stupid nighttime noise maker, and with them, the lingering feeling of his touch on your skin. You’ve already texted to let him know that you’ll drop off his things later, but he has yet to respond. It’s like he’s dropped off the face of the Earth. Good, you think. Let him. But he better at least wipe any memory of himself from your thoughts first.
You’re trying your best to forget, you really are. You took down the pictures of him that hung on your wall, right by your bed, and you’ve shoved the pillow that holds the faint scent of his cologne into the depths of your closet, and the photos of him on your phone are sitting in the recently deleted album. It’s better this way, you tell yourself. You need to get him off your mind as soon as possible and move on to better things, better people. Like a stubborn stain, his presence remains.
But you still want him like you’ve never wanted a single thing before, and it makes you sick.
Jake had never felt worse in his life. As soon as he saw you walking away, he regretted it, but if there’s one thing Jake Seresin hates, it is being wrong. His friends called him every synonym for wrong in the dictionary that night.
“You’re an idiot, Bagman. She was the best thing you had going for you and you just pushed her away like that?” Phoenix scoffed. She had overheard snippets your break-up, and after prompting Penny, she knew the full story within seconds.
“I did what was best for her-“
“No, you did what was best for you.” Penny interjected. “If you can’t make the effort to keep someone so amazing in your life, you’re never going to get anywhere. Relationships require compromise and change on both sides. The whole time you were with her, she was bending over backwards to accommodate you, and you couldn’t even shift to the side a little and give her a pinch of what she needed.”
Jake could feel anger rising in his throat. He knew best, right? No one saw his perspective. No one could feel how unhappy he would’ve made you. He was setting you free. Right? Please, let him be right.
Rooster prodded him in the stomach with his pool stick. Apparently everyone was in on the conversation. “You’ve got that self-pitying look, man. You fucked up. You’ve been fucking up. If you really think you’re not good enough for her, isn’t that a reason to become good enough for her?”
“I just…” For the first time, Jake was at a loss for words. He was coming to recognize that he was wrong. He was so, so wrong, but that felt like a slap in the face. For the first time, Rooster’s words didn’t intend to antagonize him. They were honest, and he hated it.
Bob tried to put a comforting hand on his shoulder, but Jake pushed it off. “You should talk to her.” He offered. “Tell her your side, and if she’s open to it, work on yourself so you can be good for her.” His voice was soft and soothing, like he was whispering to a wounded animal. Jake felt himself burning up under the gazes of his friends.
“Yeah,” He swallowed hard, finally coming to terms with the fact that he can make mistakes. “Maybe I will.”
You’re humming to yourself, cleaning your apartment’s modest kitchen. The sun is out, shining golden beams upon the shiny counter you’re wiping down. It smells like the nicely-scented cleaner you just bought. The old one smelled too much like him. But, as you move on, so does life. Thinking about it gives you a headache, so you’ve chosen to do anything but think.
A knock at your door makes you put down your rag. You figure it’s just your landlord, considering that you were meant to pay your rent yesterday. You sigh, readying yourself to tell sweet Mr. Hammond that you’ll pay it ASAP.
Your fingers grip the door handle and pry it open. The thing has always been a little too hard to move; old hinges, you figure. Before you can get the door to open fully, you stop in your tracks. Jake.
He’s holding a bag of your favorite takeout with a sheepish look on his face. You consider slamming the door, but it would probably get stuck if you moved it too fast. “Have you come to collect your things?” You ask softly, looking him up and down. He looks like shit. He has seemingly forgotten how to shave, his stubble turning into the awkward length that you always chided him to take care of, and his deep green eyes are laden with sadness. It almost makes you feel bad for him— until, of course, you remember he broke your heart. Calm down, you think, make this quick and easy. Get him in and out.
“No.” He states simply. “I wanted to apologize.” This is a big thing for him, something so new that it sounds foreign to your ears. Jake apologizing? His shoulders are hunched slightly. You resist the urge to put a loving hand on his chest, as you usually did when he was feeling out of sorts.
“It’s fine.” Your voice is quiet, laced with as much kindness as you can muster. “I put all your stuff in a box, if you wanted to pick it up.” You’re still subtly prompting, trying to get him out again.
He places the takeout in your grasp, his pinky finger brushing lightly against your own. You hate how it still makes you tingle. Your other hand picks at the edges of your soft loungewear. Jake purses his lips slightly as you step backwards, your feet shuffling against the linoleum floor. “Can we talk?”
“I thought we just talked.” You respond curtly. He sighs, eyebrows drawn.
“I mean really talk. Just hear me out this one time, and if you want, you’ll never have to see me again.”
You nod slightly, resigning yourself to the fact that you have to get this over with. At least your apartment is clean and sparkling; in your own way, you’re telling him that you don’t need his permission to live a nice life. You can clean, and you can take care of yourself. The takeout finds its place on your small table. You pull out a stool from the side of your island and sit down as the stool’s legs creak underneath you. Jake sits, too, opposite you. His hands are shaking a little, but you turn your gaze up to his face.
You can hear his breaths deepening as he clasps his hands together. “I’m sorry. I’m really, really sorry.”
“I appreciate your apology, but that doesn’t really change what happened.” You state. He holds up a finger as if to tell you to wait just a bit. Your eyes pass over his dejected expression, his mouth tilting just the slightest bit downwards.
“I know. I was being stupid, and I see that now. You’re amazing, honey. You’re nice and generous and this genuine kind of comforting that makes me smile. When I’m with you, I feel like I want to be better. And trust me, I do. I want to be so much better for you. When I first met you, I thought that you’d be a fit for Bob or something, that’s how amazing you are. I thought deserved someone like him, someone just as caring, but I fell in love with you instead, and now look where we are.” He chuckles dryly. His smile doesn’t reach his eyes. “I guess I just felt inadequate and stupidly insecure. I know I’m not what a respectable girl like you would want, so I pushed you away and hurt you instead. I didn’t consider your feelings at all that night, and for that, I really am sorry. I don’t know if that explanation changes anything now, but I had to give it a shot; you were never too sweet, I was just too damn bitter.”
His words come out in a ramble. You’ve never seen him so much as stutter, but his confident, calm voice is bordering on anxious. You can’t even believe what you’re hearing.
It takes a lot of guts to say something like that. When you look back on your interactions, on everything he’s ever said or done around you, you finally see it clearly. All he does is build himself up to be this great figure, so much so that people can’t tell that his ego has been sorely bruised. That’s why he shrugs off comfort and security, fucking up every sure thing in his life during the process.
He’s boring a hole into your forehead with how hard he’s staring. His hands are still white-knuckled, holding each other like they’re seeking some sort of solace. The tension in the air is palpable as you take a breath. “Thank you. I… It’s nice to hear you acknowledge that.”
Jake can hear his breathing quicken shakily. That could’ve gone a lot worse. You’re not screaming at him, hitting him, kicking him out, anything that he thinks you should do. You’re just sitting there, nails digging into the flesh on your arm, looking shocked and heartbroken all at once. He takes one deep gulp of air. “You’re welcome. I’ll get out of your hair now.” He stands to leave, but your smaller hand catches his. His palm is damp.
“I’m sorry you ever had to feel that way about yourself.” You say. His small admission of insecurity weighs on you like nothing else. “You’re a good guy, Jake. I hope you’ll take this as an opportunity to work on yourself and find what makes you happy.”
Budding tears prick at his waterline. He hasn’t cried in a long time, but looking at you makes him want to. He wants to slide into your arms and sob, press his face into your neck and tell you over and over that he wants you back. He has to try. He thinks he’ll regret it for his whole life if he doesn’t. “You make me happy,” he hesitates, “and if you’ll have me, I’d like to have you around while I work on myself. I need you. You make me want to be good enough for you.”
You take one step, then another, and he doesn’t protest a single bit as you envelop him in a hug. His muscles relax as he wraps his arms around you, the tension breathing a sigh of relief. “I’d like that.” Your voice is slightly muffled from being pressed into his chest, but he hears you loud and clear. “I missed being with you.”
You missed the way he would cook you breakfast in the mornings with a dish towel thrown over his shoulder and classic rock playing from his phone. He always told you that you’d get the whole experience when you visited him, starting with his lips caressing your collarbones and continuing with breakfast in bed. It didn’t even matter if you didn’t want to leave; he would take you with him, wherever he went. He even got in trouble once for sneaking you on base.
You missed his scratchy morning voice and warm hands and how he always had an arm around you. You missed him caring about you, wiping your tears, and you missed how confidently he showed you off and stood up for you. You missed almost everything about him, if you’re being honest. You thinking you could live without him was but a brief lapse in your sanity.
“I missed you too.” He whispers. “I… I really do love you, darlin’. I’ll shape up, I promise.”
“I’ll hold you to that.” You smile.
For the first time in a while, Jake can feel hope pricking at his heart, and you can feel it beating through his shirt.
Maybe, just maybe, you think, this can work.

of course i do???? just because you see something on the news doesn't mean you have to believe it?????? they don't have any information on kira yet but i'm supposed to believe the fbi knows their gender already??????? also kira is literally a fucking girl's name my classmate in elementary school was called kira
🔆 sparkling-world
Kira comes from the Japanese romanization for "killer," it isn't gendered whatsoever.
Also, evidence shows the majority of serial killers are male, so I'd argue that the statistics favor the fujoshis here.

well evidence shows that female serial killers are just more fun to write about and I'd argue that you're ignoring my fucking POINT which is that we DON'T KNOW KIRA'S GENDER and if people don't want to read lesbian kiratective they can FUCK OFF MY BLOG

Steve fucks you in his scoops ahoy costume please and thanks <3
heheheh gigi u know me so well... please request a part 2
PART TWO
cw: 18+ minors dni, smut, dry humping
he just looks so good in the uniform. you've been working across from scoops ahoy! for an entire month. you’re not sure how much longer you can handle this. it’s actually annoying. as he sweeps up the lobby, your eyes are drawn to his ass. they look incredible in those dumb little shorts. his knee high socks sinking lower as the day wears on. potentially worse, he matches his shoes to the uniform. same shade of blue adidas and it’s cute. your coworkers all tease you for your crush on Harrington. they even tell you he’s desperate right now; hitting on every girl that walks into the ice cream store. perfect time to shoot your shot.
but you’re shy as can be. there’s no way in hell steve harrington will hit on you if you walk into scoops ahoy!, especially not in your silly pizzeria uniform. so you just keep on watching him from afar.
the worst thing ever happens, though. a night where you have to close alone and apparently, so does steve. as you’re both awkwardly walking to the doors, he talks to you and boy, what a task it is to hold in your excitement.
“this mall is slowly draining me of my will to live,” he comments, grimacing as you make eye contact.
“ha,” it’s a fake laugh, why you’re fake laughing at him you don’t know but it’s what comes out, “yeah, me too.”
“see ya,” he says and it’s even more awkward when you notice his Beamer is parked right next to your car.
“bye,” you lamely reply as you continue walking next to him. steve chuckles as he keeps walking.
—
your coworkers convinced you to walk across the food court to offer robin and steve a trade. a couple of ice creams for a small pizza and some fries. and you’re relieved when robin’s manning the counter. but she purses her lips and calls for steve, he opens the back window and looks at you.
“yeah?” he asks, hair flopping down on his forehead and he’s so fucking adorable, you have to hold back the giggle forming in your throat.
“they wanna trade ice cream for pizza,” robin tells him, looks like she’s not entirely convinced.
steve’s eyes light up and his lips curl into a smile, “oh, i’m starving, yes!”
robin rolls her eyes, “didn’t you just eat like five bananas?”
“six,” he furrows his brows, “and i’m a growing boy, leave me alone.”
steve looks to you then, “yes, deal.”
he closes the window and comes from the back door, “what do you guys want?”
you read off the note your coworkers wrote and wait for the pair of them to fill it.
—
as you’re leaving, you walk over to scoops so you can tell them thank you but steve is alone. he’s counting the drawer but he’s left the gate open. so you walk inside, feeling bold. you stand in front of the counter and smile at him, waiting for him to finish counting pennies. once he is, he looks up at you and smiles.
“hi,” he purrs and the tone of his voice makes you shiver and you have to squeeze your thighs together.
“i just wanted to say thanks for trading, earlier.”
“no problem,” he pushes his hair back, “that pizza was awesome, thank you.”
“of course,” you flush, knowing you made it with love just for steve. “robin leave already?”
“yeah, she bikes home so i usually let her leave early,” he shrugs, “you close alone?”
“no, but we were slow, so it was quick getting out of there,” you reply, feeling bold so you ask, “do you need any help?”
“for free? no, don’t worry about it,” he grins and you love his smile so much. you don’t wanna leave.
“no, really, i don’t mind,” you say, “i can do some grunt work to make your close easier.”
steve chuckles and nods, “if you insist,” he offers you a rag, “you can wipe down tables.”
you take it with a smile and nod, turning on your heels and making quick with wiping down the tables. you’re focused on a stubborn stain on a table when you feel steve behind you. before you can turn he places a hand on your hip and gets his lips close to your ear, “am i outta line or is there something here?”
you melt, gripping the table so you don’t turn into a puddle. a loss for words, you just gasp and tilt your head back.
“am i outta line?” steve repeats, determined on a reply.
“no,” you insist, shaking your head and steve snakes his arm around your waist, pulls your back flush against his front and smiles against your ear.
“oh, thank god,” he purrs, then kisses your neck, “hoped i wasn’t going crazy.”
“how did you know?” you ask, releasing your grip on the table as you turn towards him.
steve’s face is flushed, like he was nervous and it makes you feel special. he looks incredibly handsome and you grip onto his biceps as you gaze into his beautiful brown eyes.
“the way you look at me,” he mumbles back, eyes darting from your lips to your eyes.
“how do i look at you?” you ask in the short distance between your faces.
steve’s lips quirk up as he replies, “like you didn’t want ice cream, like you wanted me.”
you flush all shades of red, embarrassed you couldn’t hide your crush. it seems to be a good thing so you tell him, “i do— want you.”
steve closes the gap between you, pressing your ass against the table as he kisses you heatedly. his hands grip your hips as he sucks your top lip between his. you have to wrap your arms around his neck so you don’t fall down to the floor, feeling wonderfully lightheaded as steve kisses you stupid. he lifts you up and rests you on the table, moving his hand to grope your breast through the dress you have to wear for work. you hook your ankles around the back of his calves as you kiss him back with just as much fervor as he’s giving you.
it’s unbelievable, kissing steve like this in the lobby of scoops ahoy! there’s no way your coworkers are gonna believe you. steve doesn’t kiss with a lot of tongue, just little teases of it dragging against your lower lip before he kisses your top lip bruisingly. he grabs your face while he does it. you whine against him, knotting your fingers in his luscious locks. they’re so soft, you get lost in them. moaning softly into the kiss as you gently tug on the tendrils on the back of his neck and steve groans against you.
“you keep doing that, we’re gonna have to do more than kissing,” he mumbles against your lips.
god… you’d let steve take your virginity right here on this table but something tells you that you have to relay that information, “i-i’m a virgin.” you tell him in a whisper and he groans as he rolls his hips against you.
“i can’t take your virginity here,” he laughs softly, “but we can do something else…”
the promise of him taking your virginity is overwhelming and excited. you’d been fantasizing about it for months. you look at him expectantly as he pulls away, you glance down to see him straining in his scoops ahoy! uniform and you giggle.
“c’mere,” he helps you off the table and onto the booth. “lay down.”
you obey and bite your lip, anticipating Steve’s next move. he situates his body on top of yours in the booth, suddenly you can feel his erection against your thigh and he wiggles until you can feel it against your core. you gasp and he kisses you hard, grabbing the hem of your dress and hiking it up over your waist. steve then licks into your mouth and you moan, wrapping your legs around his waist as he grinds down against you. it’s so… wonderful, his clothed hard on rubbing against your core through your underwear. you feel it all over, soaking through your panties and probably his shorts. steve pants through the kissing, rutting his hips against yours in a way that makes your head swim. the drag of his erection against your clit is something fucking special and it makes you jerk up against him, wanting more.
steve keeps kissing you, grinding down against you even faster. tingles run up your thighs straight to your core and you can’t help but release these begging little whines against his lips. steve bites your lip then, tugging it between his teeth as his hands make quick work to pull the top of your dress down, exposing your breasts, his hand grabs hold of your tit and squeezes as he continues winding his crotch down against yours. once his fingertips you with your nipple, you let out a loud, guttural moan and steve is swallowing it down with a sloppy kiss. you find your hands in his hair again, pulling and tugging as he whimpers into the kiss and works his hips even harder.
the pair of you are writhing against each other desperately, panting and moaning against tongues and lips and that coil that’s been winding in your stomach snaps. blissful release soaring through you with a cry of Steve’s name as he pinches your nipple.
“that’s it,” he purrs against your slack jawed mouth, “cum for me, baby. that’s a good girl.”
you cling onto him desperately and steve’s hips stutter before stopping and he makes a pretty whimper and whine against your lips.
once he pulls away, his shorts are very clearly ruined and your embarrassed but also incredibly turned on by the evidence of a good time.
“when can we do more?” you ask, blinking hopefully at him.
steve laughs softly and scratches the back of his neck, “well… my house is empty… if you wanna come over?”
“yes, I would love to,” you giggle as you sit up.

Hiya! Was wondering about a bad blood that takes a woman from earth but she's fine with it? He expected more fighting from her but is pleased. Not sure how you feel about soulmates but maybe he's been drawn to her for awhile and finally just took her?
Are We Meant To Be? Part 2
Pairings: Cew’voc (Male Yautja) x AFAB!Reader
Word Count: 2995
Summary: So much time has passed since you last saw that mysterious figure. He saved you then abandoned you. You had discovered he was your soulmate too late. When all hope was lost, he comes back to you. Is it too late?
Author Note: Okay, I know this isn't entirely what you were asking for. But, I hope it's still okay. If not, let me know and I do another for you. I wanted to use this as an excuse to write a part two for this story.

Part 1
All the years since that faithful day offered no relief. Since then, you’ve had your ups and downs. From ending up jobless and homeless, you were able to barely bounce back to a decent life. It wasn’t normal. It would never be normal again. Not without what you saw that night. Who or whatever that creature was… he was yours. As much as you were his. Two souls destined for one another.
The reminder made your heart ache. You gritted your teeth and rubbed the heel of your hand over your sternum. Some of your co-workers gave you a puzzled look before shaking their heads and going back to their business. You cleared your throat before squaring your shoulders to face the lobby and customers all over again.
A pain that’ll be with you till the end of time. You were used to it.
Twelve hours in the building was an average shift. It was the minimum you needed to work five days a week just to make do.
From living an average, normal life, meeting what had to be your soulmate had ruined everything. Despite the longing to see him, just a glimpse every so often, there was no chance. He abandoned you. It was unheard of. Usually soulmates for the first time they meet each other can’t leave each other. Some say its physical and others say its emotional. But to break apart within even the first day was beyond cruel. It’ll leave someone, yourself, broken and hollow.
That’s exactly what you are. A shell of the person you used to be. Now, here you were, a beggar for any change, even a penny. It could mean the difference between having a roof over your head or being homeless.
No one wanted you. Not even someone destined to be with you until you died.
The plates in your hand wobbled precariously. Your attention returned to your surroundings only to watch the four plates you had been carrying slip off of your arms. They came crashing down onto the ground. The porcelain shattering into tiny pieces at your aching feet. Food smears across the ground.
In the moments after that, you could only look down at the mess you’ve created. Your shoulders slumped. There was gasps that sounded through the lobby of the diner you worked out. But, you heard nothing. Stuck in your own world again while all you could do was look at the disaster at your feet.
This was it. Your last straw that broke the camel’s back. It seemed like you couldn’t hold down a job anymore. The pains in your chest only growing worse with the passing time. No one understood. This didn’t happen. Worst of all, it’s not like you had any insurance to work with. There was no help. All you did was suffer through the pain.
Over the white noise in your ears, you heard your name shouted at the top of someone’s lungs. Avery. Your boss. She came stopping around to stand in front of you with a heated glare in her eye. You simply lifted your head to look at her, dead and emotionless.
Her gaze flickered for a moment but returned to steel. One of her hands whipped out to point towards the door. “Get the fuck out of my establishment. You’re fucking useless,” she bit out with a ferocity you didn’t know she had. You blinked at her before finally picking up your feet and making your way to the door. Not even clocking out or taking off your apron.
There you had done it again. Lost another job. Useless. Just like she said. You couldn’t do anything right. Not even your own soulmate wanted to stay with you.
The concrete was harsh on your knees despite the jeans you were wearing. You had collapsed in the middle of the sidewalk. No one gave you a second glance; only giving you a look of disgust and going on their way. A broken sob left your chapped lips. The world around you closing in. You tilted your head backwards to gaze at the darkening sky.
It wasn’t long before day morphed into night. Sometime during the transition you had pulled yourself up and meandered along the path set in front of you. It was random and leading you further and further from the dingy apartment called home. The city you resided in offered nothing of relief. It allowed you to stay on a decently lit path through the side of town you resided in.
In your heart, something tugged you to stop. Your head finally picking up to find the street deserted. You had walked so far that not even those brave enough would venture out. A whine built in the back of your throat. This was pointless. Now, you were somehow lost. Your head tilted back to look at the dark sky. There was little to no stars that would dot the night sky. “What am I doing?” Your voice was hoarse. It lacked the warmth it had years ago.
All the hairs on the back of your neck stood up. The muscles that lined your back tightened. Your breath caught, body prepared for the worst while your mind hoped for the best. But, your luck has shown you how well that’ll go.
You neck creaked while it turned towards the dark alleyway. Nothing could be seen down the endless path. Either it turned off or ended towards the end.
A loud thump echoed off the walls. Your entire boy turned towards the entrance. The soft clicks of something entered the air. Your brows furrowed while you tried to deter was creating that noise. In your careless state and defense, you weren’t of sound mind. There was one thing in the world that would solve all of your issues.
It wasn’t here.
At the crest of the entrance, you eventually spotted the silhouette of a humanoid figure. Oh, not again. You took a couple of stumbling steps away and nearly fell over your own two feet. It seemed your lucky wasn’t the greatest.
Light shined off metal. Faster than a blink of an eye, your throat was snatched. Your back was pressed to a firm, hot surface. Humid heat washed over the top of your head and ran down the back of your neck. A shutter ran its course. The muscles in your body only tensing more.
Yet, in this moment, after everything that’s happened after four years… you didn’t care. Not any more.
Sharp clicks and growls vibrated into your ear. The firm grip around your throat tightened only fraction. “Mi-ne.” A voice growled that it could be felt in your bones. The declaration strong and firm.
A voice you recoginized. Your hands instantly go to the one holding you in place. Try as you may, you couldn’t tilt your head far enough back to look at the figure. But, the lack of an ache in your chest only solidified your thoughts.
This had to be him.
As your mouth opened to speak words he deserved, his free hand pressed something into your mouth. Two fingers coaxed you to swallow dryly whatever he had placed on your tongue. His palm still covered the lower portion of your face. You tried to speak and began to fight him. Anger filled your veins at not only past action, but his current ones now.
When the hands left you, you believed there was a chance for escape. Your entire body whipped around to face the towering creature. Only, for you to sway from the sudden, unwise move. Strong, capable hands grasped your shoulders before you could slam into the ground. A haze took over your mind and left you unstable.
The ground left the bottom of your feet. Then, you were hoisted onto a thick, muscular shoulder that dug into your waist and belly. The move caused you to wheeze and grab onto the a fish net like material that covered at least his toned back. “Let me go!” you screamed at the top of your lungs then began to beat on his back with clenched fists.
He takes it. Without complaint. The humanoid figure spins on his heel and lets the darkness engulf him again. Your cried for help and desperate attempt for freedom begins to fade. Whatever he forced you to ingest was starting to take effect already. Your movements turned sluggish. Every beat was weaker than the last.
“I… hate you,” was what you could say before the darkness consumed you. Your body falling limp on his shoulder.
Warmth. Comfort. Those were the first two things to greet you when your consciousness finally decided to wake up. A soft blanket swaddled your entire form and kept you safe from the lurking monsters. A groan left your lips. You squirmed in the swaddled you’ve been placed in until it loosened.
It took a monstrous amount of strength to open your eyes and blink away the fatigue sitting in your bones. What greeted you made you believe the night still claimed you.
Metal from ceiling to floor made up the room you were in. The blankets on your shoulders slipped off when you sat up to fully take in the space. Your jaw dropped. Five skulls were line on the wall behind you. All were creatures you didn’t recognize. You gulped and kept taking in the room. Weapons decorated some parts of the wall. A bean bag like chair was shoved into one corner. A fur like blanket draped over it.
That’s when you realize the blankets you had been covered with are fur from an unknown creature. You shuttered to think of all the death that was proudly displayed in here. Why… why would he take you in here? Surely, it wasn’t to kill you? No. Your head shook in the negative. He wasn’t. He would’ve already done that if so. Plus, something in your heart told you he wouldn’t harm you.
You were in the process of shuffling to your knees when the door slid open. The entire room filled with tension. It was him. Face still covered a metal mask.
He doesn’t move. The two of you engage into a staring contest.
Thoughts were running wild in your mind. From the last time you had saw him, there had been slight changes. Mainly scars. He was already adorned in them and proudly presenting them. But, more had been added to his collection. A nasty looking one started from an inch above his right collarbone and descended with small jags mostly downwards.
All of them… made him look good, despite not seeing his face yet.
Your first move was to tug the blanket tighter around you, like some sort of shield. He wasn’t terrifying. Not an ounce of fear in your heart at the sight of his towering form.
But, you were nervous, unsure of the whole situation. The most of all. You were angry. Four years. It’s taken him four years to come back into your life and decide you were worth something after all. Tears pooled in your eyes at the thought.
A glare set over your features. You sat back down on your butt and looked away from him. The creature doesn’t deserve your attention, let alone a second of your time. For all you could care, you were going to completely ignore him until he gives up. Let him feel the pain of being abandoned by the one you thought was supposed to your other half.
Out of the corner of your eye, you watched at the mustard yellow figure stalked forward. Your ears strained to listen to each step as he made his way towards you. You strengthened your walls. The beast stopped at the edge of the mattress and gazed down at your figure. Then, he gingerly sat down a couple of feet away from you.
His scaly hand reached out timidly. A move you observed closely. When he got in range, you swatted at the approaching limp. The creature snatched his hand back and made an offended noise. You didn’t need to see his eyes to know he was looking at you as if you had grown a second head. To go against someone three times your mass was obviously stupid. Yet, here you were, protecting yourself from his touch in what could be taken in an aggressive matter.
Except, he held back and took the sign completely. The figure bowed his head. “I-I kn-ow… you are u-pset.” It sounded like he was struggling to speak English. Not as it’s a language he does not know, but like his mouth and throat can’t make the sounds well. “I have reasons. I-it shouldn’t b-e possi-ble. Can’t be.”
If his words were meant to be soothing he was doing the opposite. You hugged your knees tighter with a scoff and a roll of your eyes. You wanted to ask him the reasoning but felt like that would give him too much attention. Despite what your soul wanted since it finally get’s to see your other half again after so long.
“It’s wr-ong. You’re ooman. I’m…” he trails off and glances over at your curled up form. A position meant to protect you from incoming harm. “I’m not.”
For him to confirm your suspicions, you weren’t surprised. Not after finally getting to see him in a better light. The dark, mustard yellow of his skin was dotted with scales. The color and texture wasn’t normal. The size of him wasn’t normal. The blonde rubbery-like dreads that poured from his head weren’t normal.
“I-it’s aga-against ev-everything I know. I came back. I sh-shouldn’t have.” The masked creature made a noise of agony. One of his hands came to rub at his sterum. “But the pa-in. A-after s-so long. I grew weak. Co-uldn’t handle it. I-I ne-needed to lay e-eyes on you.” Words kept tumbling from him. Words you barely understood while he struggled with your language.
They almost, almost softened you. The same pain you endured the last four years was what he experienced as well. But, there was a difference. He purposefully abandoned you. He deserved the pain. You, on the other hand, did not.
You were only human, after all. “Where am I?” Your voice was barely about a hoarse croak.
He perked, only slight, at the sound. “My s-hip. I’ve h-idden us-us from your go-vern-ment senses behind a plan-et you ca-ll Jupiter.” Him clarifying he was an alien though, wasn’t on your list of possibilities. At least, not very high. The most you thought of him was a mutated, escaped human experiment. Not… that.
“Y-you’re an alien?” you gaped before reeling in your shock. There was no reason him to give the benefit of the doubt. He doesn’t deserve it. He doesn’t deserve you.
“Yes,” he confirmed and dipped his head. The strange, rubbery dreads slipped over his shoulders to sway. “I a-m a Yautja. No-t t-that you know w-hat that is.” You bristle at his offensive words and sent a heated glare at the alien. He brushed it off with a shrug. “My name is Cew’voc. A-and yours?” You turned your head away again as your answer. He has not earned that right to know you.
Newly named Cew’voc purred with mirth. It took every ounce of will not to spin around and punch him. How dare he laugh!
“That is-is okay. I-I can just look-k it up.” Whatever he had for a face, there had to be a smirk on it. You could hear it. You bristled against and huffed. This surely couldn’t be your soulmate.
A new silence fell over the two of you. For a moment, tense peace. Until you heard a mechanical hiss. Your head whipped over to find Cew’voc’s hands gripping the metal mask that adorned his face. Carefully, the alien tugged the cover free and let his features be revealed.
Alien. He was completely alien. Three mandibles tipped with sharp fangs protruded from where what looked to be a mouth. The mouth area had an animal like jowl but the front area was open. Similar to a person, he had a jaw. Teeth protruded from both the jaw and upper side of the mouth. Terrifying teeth that looked deadly.
Then, his eyes. Those felt like a predator was staring directly into your soul. You couldn’t help the shutter than ran its course. They were a bright, scary yellow that almost seemed to glow in the calm lighting of the room.
After you exploration of his face, you find the alien with its only upper mandible quirked up. As if he was smirking at you. You glowered.
In broken, struggling English, the Yautja spoke your name. You swiftly got on your knees to be the same height as him and pointed a finger at him. “You don’t deserve the right to say my name! You abandoned me,” you grounded out. Cew’voc simply raised a brow in your direction then amusedly shook his head. “Oh, no you don’t! You don’t get to brush me off like that. Four years of misery because of your scared little ass running away.”
Now, that got a reaction out of him. The alien stood up to a lumbering height above you and glared down at you over his mandibles. “I am n-o co-coward. I’m Yautja. S-strong, mi-ghty.” He thumped a fist over his chest. “Do not a-cused me with fa-lsehood.”
You didn’t fear him. Not one bit. You stood up to be eye with him on the bed and got into his face. “Yes. The fuck. You are! You ran away with your tail between your legs like a little sissy crying to your mom!” Despite nearing twenty-three, you used some middle school insults that hopefully did the trick.
The anger that covered his features melted away when he slumped back with another smirk. “Oh, we may g-et alon-g yet.”
Oh, you doubted that.

Geto/gojo/reader “I can’t believe there’s only one bed” and HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY
THANK YOOUUU!! So, this one really sang to me, I went ahead and combined the two, mostly because they are very similar. Thank you both for the prompt!!
Now Presenting...
Starring: A flirty Satoru Gojo, and a tired Suguru Geto
Your body protested every step you took as you walked into the hotel, screaming at you to lay down and accept the sweet embrace of death. Okay, maybe death was a little extreme, but you could definitely have gone for a light coma in that moment. A yawn you had been suppressing came forward, and you tried to rub the sleep out of your eyes.
“Awe, well aren’t you cute when you’re sleepy.” Gojo teased with a smile, earning him a glare from you.
“Shut up Satoru.” This entire trip he kept making note of how cute you were, and how you needed to be protected, and at this point, he was on the brink of losing vocal cord privileges.
“Flirt later you two, let’s just get checked in.” Suguru muttered as he ushered the two of you to the front desk. He tried to summon a friendly smile for the clerk, but it didn’t touch his tired eyes. “Hi! Uh, we should have two reservations under Masamichi Yaga.” He said, really hoping they didn’t ask for an id. He told his teacher that he should probably put the rooms under one of the three people going on the mission, but the man was more muscle than brain.
The young worker started typing on the computer, before confusion fell over her features. “Um, I found the reservations, but it says it’s only for one room?” She asked. You were a bit taken back by that, and you could tell from the looks on their faces the boys were too. You thought for sure you’d at least get your own room. But, then again, if getting a room with 3 beds was cheaper than getting 2 separate rooms, it did make sense for Yaga to take that route, the penny pinching bastard.
“Uh, yea that should be fine, that’s us.” Suguru shrugged, too tired to really argue. Much to your relief (and concern) the woman nodded and happily gave over the room key, not bothering to ask for an ID. What a stand up place. The three of you dragged your tired worn bodies over to the elevator. Well, two of you did. Satoru felt fine, because of course he did. And because he had no problem filling the elevator with whatever came to his head. You shared a look with Suguru.
How do we shut him up? Your eyes asked.
Pillow over his face as he sleeps Sugurus eyes offered.
No, I want him to shut up now.
Oh, that’s not gonna happen. For now, we just have to endure him.
You sighed, knowing he was right and hating that fact at the same time. Thankfully, the elevator door opened, and the room wasn’t far from it. Geto unlocked the door, and you and Gojo practically fell over him to get into it. You quickly went to grab your toothbrush, and Gojo went to fiddle with the tv. It was Suguru who noticed it first.
“Uh, guys? I don’t see another bed.” He said. You and Gojo stopped cold in your tracks, heads whipping to the center of the room and- yep. That was one bed, and only one bed. Not even so much as a pull out couch in sight.
“OH ho ho!!” Satoru laughed, launching himself onto the bed and folding himself into what you think was meant to be a sexy pose. “I’ve read fan fiction before, I know what happens here!” He cackled, “Be gentle with me, I’m a virgin” He swooned, acting like a helpless flower.
“I call sleeping in the bathtub.” Suguru said, checking out of this battle before it became a war.
“No, Don’t!” Gojo whined, reaching out to him, “The bathtub is cold and hard, I'm warm and soft. Unless you want me to be hard.” He winked.
“I can’t believe there’s only one fucking bed, who sets this shit up?!” You snapped, aggressively waving your hands at the bed.
“God.” Gojo responded.
“Bad fan fiction writers.” Geto retorted, apparently salty about his characterization in my past fics.
“Satoru get out of the bed.” You demanded, shaking your head. You did not just get out of a fight with ten, count em, ten first grade curses to sleep on the floor.
“How about you get in the bed?” He purred.
“I will, as soon as you get out of it.” you scoffed, fighting back a laugh at the absurdity of the situation.
“Why not get in it with me?” He grinned at you, opening his arms wide as an invitation.
“I’d rather sleep in the bathtub.” You replied.
“Not an option, I already called it!” Suguru reminded you.
“Why don’t you sleep with him?” You accused more than asked, “He’s your man!”
“He is most definitely not my man!” Geto rebuffed the statement, shaking his head.
“He’s actually my man, we just haven’t taken our relationship to the next level yet.” Satoru purred with a cheeky wink to Geto to really seal the deal. Geto rolled his eyes.
“I’m going to bed, goodnight.” He said, going to grab a pillow from the bed, only for Satoru to grab his arm.
“Come on guys, don’t be silly! This bed is big enough for all of us!” He argued, “We all trust each other, right?!” Gojo paused long enough to look at both you and Geto, but not long enough for an answer. He already knew it. “We know no ones going to try any funny business, we trust each other with our lives there's no reason for any of us to be uncomfortable tonight!” you and Suguru shared more glances. Gojo may be annoying, but when he was right he was right. The only thing really keeping the three of you from sharing was standard social conventions.
“Fine, but if any of you touch me I’m throwing you off the balcony.” You warned. Geto sighed and ran a hand through his hair, sitting on the bed.
“I just don’t get why we weren’t warned about this.”
“I mean, it kind of explains the weird look she gave us.” You noted, sitting on the other side of Gojo.
“Yay, sleepover!” Gojo cheered, grabbing onto Suguru because he was the one that didn’t threaten him, “Fair warning, I’m a cuddler.” He grinned, wiggling his eyebrows for emphasis.
“I knew I should have just slept in the tub.” Geto sighed.
🛏️🛏️🛏️
In the morning, you were a tangled mess of limbs and drool with your two best friends. Any warning against cuddling being tossed to the wind in exchange for the comfort human warmth brings. You hated to admit it, but it was the best sleep you had gotten in weeks. Gojo woke up not long after you, smiling softly, slowly coming back to life.
“Good morning,” He said. You shook your head and covered his face with a pillow.
“It was before you started talking.” You muttered.“It’s 6 am, go back to bed.” Suguru begged, not happy to have been woken up.

Part 1 | Part 2
(All’s well that ends well❣️ Enjoy!)
You’d been on edge all day.
Having slept terribly the night before, you’d woken up early and giving up on the idea of going back to sleep had ended up at a sunrise yoga class, hoping that some movement would help you clear your mind. By the end of the hour you were even more frustrated than you were before you arrived, the poses feeling unnaturally forced instead of flowing seamlessly as they usually did.
So much for some goddamn inner peace.
Work was even worse. You had arrived to find that the espresso machine was broken. And whoever made a pot on the ancient drip machine, that was undoubtedly pulled out of a dingy storage closet somewhere, clearly hated everyone else since it tasted like tar. You could barely focus enough to clear out your inbox, when your work nemesis started breathing down your neck about a proposal that wasn’t due for another two weeks.
Time was dragging on. And every time you looked at the clock thinking it had been at least an hour since you’d last checked, were continually shocked to see that barely fifteen minutes had passed by. Thankfully it was Friday, so your boss didn’t care when you called it a day and left at lunch. It was better for everyone this way.
You had tried painting your nails, but didn’t have the patience to let them dry and smudged them trying to open a package of crackers. Ignoring the crumbs that got everywhere as you ate them while working the cotton pad over the remnants of your pretty pink polish. Your new favorite show didn’t hold your attention like it usually did and you found yourself mindlessly scrolling on your phone, missing most of the plot you’d had to restart it. Twice.
Not even the scenic drive along the coast to the restaurant you were supposed to meet your date at had done anything to alleviate your nerves.
You had been surprised at the choice of location when you had received the text message with the information about this particular date. As much as you enjoyed going to the Hard Deck, you were very much looking forward to drinking something other than a beer. Sure, Penny could make a mean spicy margarita, but sometimes an overpriced aesthetically pleasing cocktail just hit the spot better than anything else.
But most of all, you were thankful for a change of pace and the privacy this offered you. You had never been one for the spotlight, and dating on display had left you feeling drained.
You’re sitting in a surprisingly comfortable wooden wicker dining chair on the outdoor patio of the new trendy fusion restaurant you’ve been dying to come to. From your spot tucked away in the corner you can see the ocean waves rolling in and back out again. The golden rays already promising a stunning sunset later in the evening.
The foliage of the giant potted monsteras and birds of paradise made the terrace feel like a lush oasis, and contrasted stylishly against the large painted terracotta tiles on the ground. The pergola that covered it was dotted wisteria amongst the other climbing greenery, and numerous oversized hanging rattan sconces. The dainty lights woven throughout reflecting off the wine glasses on the table.
This was exactly what you needed. Too bad you couldn’t let yourself enjoy it, the twisted knots in the pit of your stomach had served a constant reminder of your nerves all day.
You had used this date as an excuse to finally buy the deep green floral dress you’d had your eye on for ages. The gentle drape of the neck was subtly sophisticated, while the high slit on the side added some serious sex appeal.
There was nothing wrong with a little retail therapy you had told yourself as you’d swiped your credit card. If you looked good, maybe it would help you to feel good.
In all honesty, it probably had a little too much sex appeal since you couldn’t stop fidgeting in your chair trying to get the silky dress cover up more of your thigh that was currently displayed rather provocatively. It felt like the more you tried to get it to lay right the more of your leg was exposed.
It probably didn’t help that you couldn’t stop the restless bouncing of your leg. You weren’t usually an antsy person, leg bouncing had always been more of Rooster’s anxious habit than yours.
Maybe you’ll feel less exposed once you draped the linen napkin across your lap. You’re tempted to do it now, but you don’t want to disturb the artfully laid out tablescape before your date has arrived.
It had been three weeks of back to back truly terrible dates. You could see the finish line now, but you couldn’t say that it wasn’t wearing on you. It had sounded like fun in theory, but now you weren’t so sure you would said yes again if you were offered a do-over.
You were tired.
Tired of going through the motions with men who could hardly be bothered to do the bare minimum. Tired of trying to sell the best version of yourself. Tired of putting on a show when all you wanted to find was an easy kind of love.
And this particular date had you more on edge and anxious than any of the other ones you’d gone on.
Even if you were pressed, you could not remember a single thing about the guy Payback had set you up with on your most recent blind date.
That evening you hadn’t even bothered trying to put together a cute outfit for the meeting. Instead, the only real effort you’d opted to put in was painting your lips a bright red as an attempt to psych yourself up for it. You didn’t usually wear such a bold color, but when you did it never failed to make you feel more brilliant.
And while you couldn’t remember anything about your date, what you did vividly remember was the fight you got into with Rooster that night.
You had been coming back from the restroom and on your way back to your date when you had bumped into him rounding the corner.
“Sorry, that was my fault,” he’d said as he reached out to steady you with hand going to your waist, dropping it once he realized it was you. “Oh, hey.”
Glancing over to your date who seemed absorbed in some game he was playing on his phone, you figured he wouldn’t miss you if you spent a few extra minutes away to catch up with Rooster.
He had been acting really distant lately, taking a couple days to respond to texts rather than a couple of hours like it usually took him. Natasha had told you about the rigorous training they were being put though, and you had assumed it probably had something to do with that. However, you couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off between you two.
Rooster was already pulling away from you and taking a step towards the bar when you reached out grabbing his wrist to keep him with you. Looking around for a quiet place to talk, you’d heard him sigh behind you, but still held on to him as you made your way to one of the high-top tables in the corner by the empty stage.
You’d stopped and let go as you turned towards him, only to find him already looking at you with an expression that landed somewhere between expectant and exasperated. The cuffs of his shirt straining around his biceps as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“Well?” he grunted out.
Was he mad at you? You couldn’t think of any recent arguments you’d had recently that would explain the harsh tone he was using with you.
“Is everything ok? I feel like you’ve been really off lately. You know I’m always here for you, right?” Your hand was already reaching out to touch him, but you resisted the urge not wanting to further agitate him.
“Nothing’s wrong. I’m surprised you even have time to talk to me with all these washouts you’ve been wasting your time on. You’re the one with the busy social calendar, not me.” He was looking over the top of your head avoiding your gaze now, the bitterness in his voice had stunned you.
“Seriously? What is the matter with you?”
He’d never been so intentionally callous with you before and it hurt.
“Listen, if there is an issue me dating the people your friends have been setting me up with, you need to let me know,” you’d said pointing a firm finger at him, your anger rising. “This was supposed to be a fun no pressure situation, but I don’t want to be in the middle of this if things are getting heated between you guys. It’s not worth it to me. But you don’t get to ignore me for days and then claim that I’m the one avoiding you.”
He made a noise of frustration as he dragged both hands through his curls. You could see the flex of his jaw as he’d clenched his teeth together.
“Look, I’m sorry,” he ducked down to that his eyes were level with your, and you could see the remorse in them. “You’re right, that was shitty of me to take it out on you. I’m just… tired.”
You’d simply nodded at him, feeling like you weren’t on the same page as him didn’t sit well with you. “Phoenix told me about your new training program, it seems intense,” your voice sounded small even to your own ears.
“Yeah, the training,” he’d sighed out pausing for a moment as he weighed his words, rubbing at his chest, “It’s taking a toll on me, but that’s my problem. I mean it, I’m sorry.”
“Are we good?” you searched his eyes, your friendship with him was so important to you.
“You and me? We’re good, kid. Always.” He’d reached out and squeezed your shoulder before heading back to where the group was gathered together pretending like they weren’t just watching your argument play out.
Needless to say, your head was somewhere elsewhere entirely as you made your way back to your date. You’d felt bad being so distracted, but your mind just kept playing the argument on repeat. It was like your brain was trying to pull apart every little word to decode something that you didn’t think was there.
After Payback’s friend had left, you rejoined everyone else around the pool table. You couldn’t tell if the mood was off or if it was just you reading into things, since they hadn’t been prodding you with questions like they usually did.
Natasha was in the middle of giving you a glowing review of the man she had been bragging about since she first offered to set you up, when Rooster came to sit with you both.
“He’s just your type. He’s an engineer, so he’s smart. He’s got that whole glasses wearing and floppy hair thing going for him. And he’s funny. Rumor has it that he talked back to his Rear Admiral one time and got away with it because the guy had found him amusing. I fully expect you to name one of your future children with him after me.”
Rooster had surprised the pair of you when he stood up so violently that he almost knocked over the beers on the table.
“What the fuck, Bradshaw?” Nat had exclaimed as you both worked to rescue the teetering bottles from becoming casualties from his sudden movement.
You had no idea what he was going to say as an explanation for why he’d jumped out of his seat the way he did, but what he ended up unexpectedly announcing instead of answering Nat’s question had sent you into a tailspin.
So now here you are in a restaurant you’d be dying to go to, fidgety and anxious in a probably-too-expensive-and-probably-too-provocative dress for a first date with the guy who Rooster was willing to break his long-standing rules for to set you up with.
To say you were feeling the pressure was an understatement. No one knew you like Rooster did. He’d seen you at your best and at your worst. He wouldn’t just pick any random guy he knew, he would be picking the one who he thought would be the best for you.
The thought should be comforting, but you couldn’t shake the feeling of uneasiness.
You pick up your phone again and double check the time in the text that Rooster had sent you with all the details for your date with his friend.
It was either that do that again or moving the ever-so-slightly crooked gold salad fork back into place.
You’re about to open Instagram for the third time since you sat down, turning when you hear a throat clear purposely behind you.
“Hey, sweet girl.”
For Rooster, when you’d first agreed to participate in the bet with his friends those dates started off as annoying inconveniences. Just inconsequential disruptions that got in the way of his time with you.
You were his best friend and at his bar, yet he felt like he’d hardly seen you these past couple of weeks- or at least not as much as he would have liked.
Sure, he got some time with you here and there at the end of the night like when you had late night tacos on the beach. Or when he’d taught you his favorite pool trick, well more like attempted to teach you, he loved how stunningly bad you were at the game. But he felt like he was competing with these idiots his friends had picked out for your time and your attention.
He wasn’t used to sharing you. In the past, if you had a date that conflicted with something spontaneous he wanted to do or something that the group had planned together, more often than not he could get you to move it or cancel completely.
He’d never been above a little bribery to get his way, he knew what you liked.
You going on dates wasn’t a new concept to him, but seeing them paraded in front of him was a different story. And he was getting really tired of watching you from across the bar while feeling like you were out of reach.
The more of them you went on, and the more he heard Natasha crowing about having the perfect man for you the more agitated he felt. The worse that feeling in the pit of his stomach got.
The evening of date for Payback’s pick, they’d all seen you walk in through the doors of the Hard Deck wearing that shade of red lipstick. You’d wore it so well. His friends had immediately started speculating about what it meant. Phoenix had called them all idiots, and while he couldn’t claim to know anything about make-up and those things, he did know you didn’t just wear that color for no reason.
He had vague memories of his mom putting the color on when they’d go greet his dad, at least he like to think those were his memories. Or maybe they were just something he’d created in his head from all the time he had spent looking at old photos of his mom and dad together, her smile always outlined in the color. His favorite was the one where his dad’s cheeks were covered in bright red lipstick kisses as he smiled indulgently down at his mom while a young Bradley was propped on her hip clutching his prized F-14 Tomcat. He had that one framed on the end table next to his couch.
And seeing that color on you for a date with this random guy had rattled him.
He’d felt so terrible later that evening when he took those feelings out on you. Hating himself as he lashed out at you. Hating himself as he saw your face fall and the hurt in your eyes. Hating himself for being the person who made you feel bad.
And the crux of it all was that you weren’t wrong, he had been deliberately distant by being slow to reply and ignoring texts from you. He wasn’t proud of it, but he didn’t know what else to do. He’d hoped by creating some space that it would help him to try and get his head back on straight.
He’d let you assume that he was tired from the new training program they were being put through. What he didn’t tell you was that he was already outperforming everyone on the team, and that he hadn’t had to do any extra push-ups in a week and a half.
He was tired because he hadn’t been sleeping, and he couldn’t sleep because every time he tried to close his eyes all he could see was you on these dates. Replaying them in his mind’s eye wondering what the outcome would have been had they not gone so terribly wrong each time.
The what-ifs swarming around his brain day and night like agitated hornets.
While he had been quick to apologize for being a dick, the sharp pain that settled behind his sternum wouldn’t subside no matter how much he had tried to rub it away.
He didn’t know what was more unbearable, the idea of losing you to a chance encounter of circumstance. Some meet cute courtesy of the universe that he couldn’t see coming until it was too late, when it’s already too far out of his hands and out of his control. To see you grinning that smile so bright, the one so wide it made your dimples appear, as you introduced that guy to him.
Or sitting here night after night analyzing every little thing as you date the people some of his closest friends had picked out for you. Watching and hoping that these dates would just be funny stories you told on drunken nights out rather than the story told at your wedding about the night that everything changed when you met your person. Of having to be happy for you even as you pull away from him.
His ears were ringing and he’d felt his stomach drop.
He could see it now, a day when your life ran parallel to his rather than entwined as he was used to. Of you with a partner. With children. Of him as ‘Uncle’ Rooster, demoted to the rank of ‘longtime friend of the family’ rather than a core member of it.
The thought of it making him feel sick.
All evening he had been moving around like a ghost completely lost to the thoughts in his head, but now it felt like he’d been shocked by a live wire. He’d pretty much jumped out of the chair he had just settled in, almost knocking the beers in front of him off the table completely.
“I want in, I’ll do it,” he’d blurted out, interrupting the conversations that had continued on around him while he had been spiraling. “This whole thing has been a complete shit show. I can’t watch this anymore. I know a guy, I’ll set it up. I’m in.”
His hands were sweating as he hoped no one would call his bluff. He’d made it a point to actively avoid looking at you. You had such an uncanny way of reading him.
“I don’t know, Bradshaw. You’re a little late to the game, aren’t you? I’ve been saving the best for last, and I’m ready to collect my winnings.” He’d expected some shit from Hangman, but he never would have guessed it’d come from Phoenix.
Feeling his anger flare up, he reached into his back pocket and fished out a $100 bill from his worn leather wallet, double the original entry fee. He slapped it down on the table, leaving no room for any further discussion, “I’m the one setting her up for the next date.”
He’d caught a look between Hangman and Phoenix, but he couldn’t be bothered to read into it as he tried to keep his temper in check.
He wouldn’t lose you. Not to someone who didn’t deserve you, especially when he already knew the person who could make you happy.
“Alrighty,” Jake had drawled out, as he pocked the bill. “Looks like we have another player. I look forward to taking your money.”
He’d extended his hand out and they’d all shook on it, reaching Phoenix last her grip firm and her smile sharp. And that was that.
Now he was here at the new popular restaurant he’d heard you talking about a few weeks ago, his feet cemented to the tiles beneath him just gazing at you.
He could tell from where he was standing behind you that you were nervous by the way you were opening and closing apps without truly looking at anything. He knew it was a habit of yours when you were feeling anxious, something for your hands to do as you tried to distract yourself.
He had sweet talked the hostess over the phone into reserving the best spot on the outdoor terrace, and you looked so beautiful sitting there wearing his new favorite color. Your hair is held back by a delicate golden clip on one side leaving the line of your neck exposed, the sea breeze picking up a few wisps. It makes his teeth ache with want.
He knew you were gorgeous, he’d stared down enough men at the Hard Deck to know that others thought so too. However, he’d never let himself sit with those thoughts for too long, not trusting himself to keep his mind from wandering.
You were his best friend.
And best friends don’t think about how the other would look so perfect in their bed, that pretty green dress forgotten on the floor.
Best friends don’t think about how perfect you would look under his arm.
Best friends don’t think about how perfect you would look with his ring on your finger.
Best friends don’t think about how perfect you are for him.
Best friends don’t think about how perfect he is for you.
Him.
It was a good thing he didn’t want to just be your best friend anymore.
He’d already done too much thinking, done too much waiting. He wasn’t going to miss his moment.
Taking one more deep breath, he made his way to you.
“Rooster? What are you doing here?” He was the last person you’d expected to see when you turned your head to see who had been trying to get your attention, “Are you ok? What’s wrong?”
Did he get emergency orders? Did your date get in an accident?
Your anxiousness was quickly morphing into panic, you’re already half way out of your seat when he puts his hand on your shoulder, his thumb stroking the skin there reassuringly.
He is standing there looking completely at ease, as if he belonged there, “Nothing’s wrong, sweet girl.”
And there it was again, you hadn’t been sure if your ears were playing tricks on you the first time he’d said it. That simple term of endearment silencing the alarm bells that were going off in your head, the edges of the lush restaurant softening around everything except him.
“Your mom always called me that,” you say softly.
You cherished all the memories you had with Carole, the woman who had been such a significant figure in your life for so long. You knew your mom still sent Rooster a cake every year to celebrate her birthday from whatever bakery was closest to wherever he was stationed.
“I know, I remember,” his voice so warm and deep, “She loved you.”
He says it so simply, so sincerely. As if his presence here hasn’t just completely untethered you and sent you adrift in a sea of bewilderment.
The writhing snake that had made a home all day in the pit of your stomach finally disappeared, only to be replaced with the fluttering of wings that you were desperately trying to ignore.
You’d been so shocked when Rooster had exclaimed that he was going to set you up with someone, your mind had been whirling so much at the time you could barely focus on anything that had been said in the aftermath of his announcement. Maybe you had missed some caveat he’d come up with for his participation in the bet? That could make sense, considering how adamant he had always been in the past about never getting involved in your love life.
He was standing there looking so good in his best short-sleeved button up shirt, the one that was scattered with vibrant palm leaves that fit snugly against his body. And wearing the white slacks that usually had you looking anywhere else in the room to avoid acknowledging the way they clung to your best friend’s thighs and ass. If only he knew how weak they made you.
There just has to be a logical reason for why he’s here, but the soft smile on his face was rendering your brain uncooperative.
You were getting tired of feeling like you were missing something that should be so obvious, “My date is supposed to be here soon, are you going to hover in the back like you have been at the Hard Deck? Or are you just planning on pulling up a chair and third wheeling up close and personal?”
“Why would I need an extra chair,” he asks as he pulls it out and eases his large frame down onto the wicker seat, “When mine’s already free?”
You move to open your mouth when the waitress arrives, asking if you had your drink orders selected.
“I’ll do the Bourbon Sidecar. You feelin’ like a gin, sweet girl?” You just nodded at him mutely, still desperately trying to catch up. “And the Clover Club for her, please.”
It’s what you were planning on ordering to calm your first date jitters before had Rooster arrived and sent you into a complete tailspin. He hadn’t even looked at the thick textured cardstock of the drink menus that were strategically placed just to the right of the golden soup spoons on the artfully laid out table.
The butterflies were threatening to break free from the tightly locked cage you had attempted to shove them in.
The waitress took down the drinks, and you watched her as she crossed the patio pausing to tap away on the screen of their POS, trying to give yourself a few more moments to collect your thoughts.
“Bradley. I don’t understand, what’s going on?” He’s sitting there looking so secure, so steadfast, so sure.
His cheek ticks up, “I like it when you call me Bradley. Why did you stop calling me that when you moved out here?”
“You’re avoiding the question.”
“Why did you stop calling me Bradley when you moved out here?” he asks again, leaning in. How does he expect you to answer a question, when your mind is going 1,190 miles an hour?
“I don’t know,” you start with a halfhearted shrug. “You’ve made a name for yourself in the Navy, you are ‘Rooster’ to everyone here.” You open your mouth to say more, before closing it quickly.
“There’s more going on in that head,” you feel his foot reach out tapping against yours under the table, before leaving it there a steady presence. “Tell me.”
You know you can tell him anything, but this feels different.
The intensity of his stare has you fighting the flush you feel spreading across your cheeks.
It wasn’t something that you’d ever given much thought to before, but you know if you answer truthfully now that he’s asked you it’s going to leave you feeling more exposed than you’ve ever been with him.
You sit up more fully in your chair deciding to be brave, “I mean, we haven’t really truly been in the same place since we were teens, and things are so different now. It was easier to start calling you ‘Rooster’ or ‘Bradshaw’ like everyone else, because it didn’t make me feel like I was piece from a different puzzle trying to force myself into a new picture. I wanted to fit into the life that you’ve built here, to feel like I still have a place with you as you are now.”
You’re actively fighting to keep your eyes on his. It would be so easy to look away or to laugh off your confession, but for whatever reason, you don’t want to take the easy out.
“I never knew you felt like that, but I wish I had,” the look in his eyes is softer than anything you’ve ever seen from him before. “I like being Bradley to you, I want to be Bradley to you. You aren’t just a piece to me, you’re the whole picture. You’ve always had a place here, exactly as you are you are now.”
It’s never been like this between the two of you. It feels like you both are saying too much and not enough all at the same time. As much as you find yourself wanting to sink into these intoxicating yet unfamiliar feelings, you know you’re still holding yourself back.
God, he is so handsome. You had been right, the sunset that was just starting was stunning, but the way golden beams were hitting the lightened strands of his curls was spectacular.
You’re almost too afraid to ask, but it’s unbearable not knowing, “Why are you here right now, Bradley?”
Of course, the waitress chooses that moment to return with the drinks.
She sets them down in front of you, the skewered raspberries sitting daintily on the side of your glass are suddenly the most fascinating thing in the room. You vaguely hear him saying you both need more time and that he’ll flag her down when you’re ready to order.
He waits for her to leave to attend to her other tables before turning his heady gaze on you once again.
“I thought I’ve been making my intentions pretty clear here, sweet girl.”
He takes a sip of his Sidecar before continuing, the slight bounce of his leg the only thing giving him away that he might not be as self-assured as you’d originally thought, “I’m here for our date.”
There’s no hope of containing the butterflies now. You’re a lost cause.
“Bradley.” You can only imagine the emotions he is reading on your face. It would absolutely break your heart if this was some kind of bad joke.
“He’ll never love you like I can.”
“What?” you ask sounding every bit as dazed as you feel.
“Sorry, sorry,” he says shaking his head slightly, huffing out a little laugh at himself, “I got ahead of myself.”
You watch as he resituates himself in the chair, wiping his hands on the front of his slacks before restarting.
“Watching you on those dates has been hell, I don’t want to be jealous of some guy you gave a second glance. I don’t want hold back, not when we can be so much more,” he reaches across the table, taking your hand between his two large ones, “I thought having you as a friend was enough for me, but how am I supposed to sleep at night knowing that I could be the one who makes you happy and then do nothing about it? That I’m the only one who can love you the way you deserve to be loved?”
You’ve always known he’s cared for you, that was unquestionable, but to be loved by Bradley Bradshaw? It was something you’d never let yourself imagine, let alone dared to hope to for. It had been kinder to spare yourself from the heartache that came with hope. But now? With him sitting right here in front of you saying you could have him like this?
Was this how he felt flying in his F-18 every day?
He gets up and rounds the table coming to your side, hooking an ankle around the tapered leg of your chair pulling you out a bit. You’re suddenly very thankful for the probably-too-expensive-and-probably-too-provocative for a first date dress you purchased when you see the way his rich brown eyes turn molten as he gets a glimpse of your exposed thigh.
He settles into a crouch before you, his warm hands seeking out both of yours, “You don’t need Phoenix or anyone else to set you up, because he’ll never love you like I can. Let me show you how good it can be. Let me be it for you, sweet girl.”
The man in front of you is everything you could have ever possibly wanted for yourself. And to be the one who could get to keep him forever? There’s no doubt in your mind, it’s worth everything.
You’re sure you will have to have a more serious conversation about what this means for the two of you, but that can wait for another time when he’s not in front of you with his eyes so earnest. So hopeful. To another time when he’s not wearing his heart on his sleeve as he patiently waits for any kind of response from you.
It would be so easy to lean in and kiss him right now.
So easy to learn what that mustache would feel like against your skin.
To learn how his lips and tongue would feel against your own.
To learn how his mouth would move with yours.
But what’s a couple more hours when you’ve had years to build up to it.
“Well then, Lieutenant. I guess you better show me how it’s done,” you bring your hand up to cup his face, your thumb gently stroking along his cheekbone. “But I’m warning you now, I fully intended to give you as good as I get.”
Being on the receiving end of a Rooster smile was something special, but it had nothing on the beaming grin that Bradley Bradshaw is giving you now.
“I wouldn’t expect anything else from you,” he says as he lands a lingering kiss on your cheek before standing and pushing your chair back in for you. “You’ve always known how to keep me on my toes.”
He returns back to his surprisingly comfortable wooden wicker chair, stretching his leg to rest it against yours. When the waitress comes back you both end up picking your meals at random, having been too absorbed with each other to actually bother reading the menu.
You’d barely eaten all day because of the knots in your stomach, and now you were starving. Thankfully, Bradley at least had the commonsense to ask the waitress to pick her favorite dish as a third entrée “for the table”.
It feels the same in many ways, he knows what to say to make you laugh and what to bring up to get you fired up. And you know what questions to ask to keep him talking and how to push his buttons just right.
But it’s also different when he doesn’t bother to hide his knowing smirk every time he catches you looking at his lips. And it’s even better when you don’t bother trying to hide yours when you catch him doing the same.
Afterwards, he takes your hand in his as you slowly make your way to the parking lot, his fingers lacing between your own. He surprises you when he leans against the Bronco, murmuring something about not wanting to let your pretty dress get dirty. His long legs extended wide as an invitation for you to come stand between them, his strong hands stroking the silky material of your dress on your hips as you step closer.
You’ve been ignoring the pull low in your stomach all evening, the tension between you two the most luscious feeling you’ve ever experienced. The combination of his heat, his woodsy smell, the headiness of his gaze on you almost too overwhelming.
Almost.
Your hands settle on his broad chest, playing with the button of his shirt now a bit nervous. Your faces closer than you’ve ever allowed them to be before. If what you’re hearing is the sound of the waves or the roaring of the blood in your ears, you couldn’t say.
You know he is waiting for you to make the first move. You see the moment when he’s about to say something, knowing him the words would be wonderfully reassuring and perfectly Bradley.
Why would you want to talk when his mouth was already waiting like a question. Why would you want to talk when you could learn what it’s like kiss him instead?
So you do.
When your lips meet his for the first time it feels like the sweetest kind of devotion.
bradleybradleybradley
His mustache scratching satisfyingly at the skin of your upper lip. His mouth tasting like the Sidecars he sipped on throughout the night and something that was just fundamentally Bradley.
Your hand moves on its own to stroke the side of his neck, your fingers seeking out the line of the longest scar that adorns his skin there from that night all those years ago.
Your heart is beating wildly in your chest as he licks his lips before bringing his face down to yours again. Your other hand tightly clutching his shirt in anticipation.
He’s always been so in tune with you, so when he tilts your head just right before leaning into the kiss it feels like a homecoming.
thisthisthis
One of Bradley’s hands makes its way up your back, pressing you closer to him as the other bands more securely around your waist. And when his tongue skims your lower lip, you sigh into his waiting mouth thankful for his strong grasp on you.
Nothing your mind could have imagined would have ever come close to the perfection that is Bradley Bradshaw’s mouth moving against yours. Nothing has ever felt so good, so right.
When he pulls away, you’re both over fighting back the smiles that feel like have been permanently fixed on your faces all evening.
“I’m don’t want to call it a night yet,” he tells you, as he brushes the hair back from your face. His smile turning playful, “What do you say, kid? Wanna go get some milkshakes?”
“Depends,” you reply cheekily, “Can I drink it in the Bronco?”
Wrapping both arms around his neck you draw him back in towards you again.
“Anything you want, sweet girl,” he promises against your lips.
The next night at the Hard Deck, you entered the bar with Bradley’s arm draped your shoulders.
His team whooping loudly when you pull him in for a kiss as he handed you a Blue Moon. They’d declared the drinks were on Bradley that night as they’d swarmed you both in celebration. Maverick pulls you aside to give you a warm hug, whispering “I knew you’d get here” in your ear before releasing you.
Now that you had let yourselves cross that line from friends to more, the pair of you are entirely too aware of the other. Never content to be too far away from the other. Your eyes like magnets, each seeking out the other to find them already looking back.
There’s nothing friendly about the way he has his hands on your waist. Nothing neighborly in the way his hands rub your shoulders. Nothing platonic in the way he rests one hand on the back of your neck, his thumb making teasing circles.
And there’s nothing friendly about the way you run your hands through his curls when he’s at the piano. Nothing neighborly in the way you slide your hand into his back pocket. Nothing platonic in the way you rest your hand on his chest, your finger tracing the line of his collarbone.
It has always been so easy with him, even as you explore in this new area of your relationship.
You’d been orbiting around each other all night, when Jake yelled out to heckle you both about indecent exposure, threatening to call his cop friend if Bradley didn’t “get his ass over to the pool table in the next thirty seconds.”
He’d peppered your face with kisses before you’d shooed him away, laughing when you realized he had swiped your beer and had taken it with him.
“So you and Bradshaw,” Natasha states as she settles down next to you.
That makes you smile.
“Yeah, me and Bradley.”
How could you have possibly thought you’d want anyone else other than him? You were a goner from the moment you’d turned and saw him standing there at the restaurant. Your golden boy.
You turn towards her, putting a hand on her arm, “I’m sorry that you didn’t get a fair shot at the bet. I really do appreciate the effort you all went through. I mean, Bradley would have had it in the bag anyways. But still–”
“Oh, don’t worry about it,” she waves a hand, cutting you off, “We had a team meeting and changed the rules of the bet anyways. I still won, so it’s all good.” Her smile was nothing less than mischievous.
“Wait, what?”
“We could all see from Rooster’s reaction during that disaster of a first date with all the dogs that he was completely hung up on you. We didn’t want to wait for him to figure it out, so we decided to adjust the terms a bit to help him out,” she laughs at your clearly baffled expression. “We reached out to the cringiest people we knew and set you up with them instead. And then took bets on how long it would take Rooster to get his head out of his ass and go get his girl.”
“Oh my god, seriously?” The revelation has you bursting out in laughter.
“Yep, well except for Bob. His date was a genuine accident, bless him. I’ll be honest, I didn’t even bother reaching out to anyone. I was betting on Rooster getting it together before I needed to step in,” she explains while wearing the most self-satisfied smirk on her face.
Of course Natasha Trace had bet on him. On you.
You couldn’t wait to tell Bradley how you had both been so absolutely played by his team.
You loved these people. You loved your life here in San Diego.
“I’d apologize for putting you through all that, but it looks like it worked out well in the end,” she says knowingly nodding her head towards him.
You’re fully watching him now as he bends over the pool table looking amused at something that Hangman says.
Bradley looks up catching your eye and shoots a wink in your direction, a grin taking over his whole face. You already know you’re wearing a matching one.
“I wouldn’t change a single thing.”
Thank you so much for all the love on this one! I’ve loved sharing this journey with you all! Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone!

Friends (with Benefits) Don't: Part 2
SUMMARY: Tensions rise at The Hard Deck when a drunk aviator gets too close for comfort, ignoring your warnings and Penny’s attempts to diffuse the situation. Just as things escalate, Jake and Coyote step in to throw him out, responding to Penny’s ringing of the bell without hesitation. Afterward, Jake checks on you, and despite the platonic front, there’s a subtle tension between you two. He offers to buy you a drink and later takes you home, helping you unwind and stay within the no-strings boundaries of your agreement.
OTHER PART(S): PART 1 I PART 3
WORD COUNT: 2.1k
WARNINGS: 18+ MINORS DNI. ALCOHOL USE. IMPLIED SMUT.
TAG LIST: SEE COMMENTS BELOW
The Hard Deck hummed with the usual weekend buzz, the mix of pool balls clinking, conversations swirling, and the jukebox filling the air with old rock tunes. You sat at the bar, taking a slow sip of your drink while making idle small talk with Penny.
It wasn’t a busy night, at least not compared to most, but after the week you’d had, it was exactly what you needed—an easy night, a little distraction, and, admittedly, a few stolen glances across the room.
Jake stood at the pool tables with Coyote, a grin flashing across his face as he made another shot. Your eyes met his a few times, a silent exchange you hadn’t really planned but couldn’t help. The two of you had been keeping your distance, careful to make sure no one noticed any connection beyond what could pass for casual friendship. It was safer that way. Easier.
But tonight, there was something else in the air, a weight behind the glances you exchanged. You couldn’t shake it, even as you turned back to Penny, determined to focus on your conversation.
"So," Penny asked with a knowing smile, "what’s got you staring into your drink like it holds all the answers?"
You laughed softly, shaking your head. "Just a long week, you know?"
Before Penny could respond, a sailor wandered up beside you, his confidence way too high after a few drinks.
"Hey," he said, leaning in, his breath heavy with alcohol. "What’s a girl like you doing here alone?"
You shot him a tight-lipped smile, hoping he’d catch the hint. "Not alone, actually."
Penny’s eyes flicked over to him, her expression unamused. “She’s not looking for company.”
The sailor chuckled, clearly oblivious to the discomfort in the air. He slid a little closer, his hand resting on the bar just an inch too close to yours like he wasn’t planning on moving anytime soon.
“Still not interested,” you said again, sharper this time, your voice cutting through the noise.
Penny raised an eyebrow before quickly ringing the bell behind the bar. The place erupted into cheers. But the sailor still lingered, smirking as he fumbled for his wallet to buy a round.
“Well since I have to buy a round anyway, what can I get for you, beautiful?”
Penny shot you an apologetic look, shaking her head. It was clear he wasn’t going to take the hint. When Penny rang the bell a second time, the atmosphere in the bar shifted. This time, it wasn’t a friendly warning—it was a call for action.
You caught movement from the corner of your eye and turned just in time to see Jake and Coyote heading your way. Jake reached the sailor first, his hand clamping down on the guy’s shoulder, his voice low and even. "She said no, buddy."
Coyote stepped up next to him, arms crossed. “Time to leave, man.”
The sailor, finally realizing he wasn’t going to win this one, grumbled under his breath and slunk toward the exit, with Jake and Coyote guiding him out. The tension in the bar broke, people returning to their conversations and games, and Penny gave you a sympathetic smile.
You expected Jake to go back to his game at the pool tables after the guy was gone. It was the type of thing you’d expect—handle the situation and move on like nothing happened.
Instead, he walked back over to you, his eyes scanning your face with an intensity that felt different, more personal than anyone else in the bar would’ve noticed.
"You okay?" he asked, his voice casual but the concern unmistakable.
You nodded, trying to shake off the weird energy lingering from the interaction. "Yeah, thanks. He was just a little too persistent."
Jake didn’t move, his gaze lingering a moment longer. "You sure you're okay, Halo?" His voice was quieter now, the question loaded with more than just concern about a drunk sailor.
You hesitated, looking away for a beat before sighing. "It’s been a long day. That didn’t help."
His eyes softened as he leaned against the bar beside you, his shoulder brushing yours. "I can help with that." His voice dipped into that teasing tone that always had a way of pulling a smile from you, but tonight it felt more comforting than anything.
You raised an eyebrow. "How so?"
"How about you let me buy you another drink," he offered, his smile widening just enough to ease the tension between you.
“Careful, Hangman. Last man that tried to buy me a drink just got escorted out.”
“Well tell me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think I’m disrespecting the lady.” His lips curved into a smirk as he looked over at you.
You hesitated, glancing down at your half-empty glass. "I probably shouldn’t. I’ve got to drive home."
Jake’s smile didn’t waver. "I’ll make sure you get home safe."
That familiar pull—the one you tried so hard to ignore—tugged at you again, and before you could stop yourself, you nodded. "Okay, fine. One more."
One drink turned into two, the tension from your bad day slowly unwinding as the conversation flowed, casual and light but with the underlying current of something more. It wasn’t long before you were ready to leave, and true to his word, Jake offered to drive you home.
As you made your way toward the door, Jake’s hand rested gently on your lower back, guiding you outside. To anyone watching, it looked like nothing more than a friendly gesture. But you could feel the weight behind it—the unspoken connection, the careful balance between what you both knew this was and what you weren’t ready to admit it could be.
By the time you reached your place, the easy conversation from the bar had given way to a comfortable silence. Jake parked outside your building, cutting the engine and turning to look at you. "You feeling better?" he asked, the corner of his mouth quirking up in a small smile.
"Yeah," you said softly, your fingers fidgeting with the edge of your jacket. "Thanks for the drinks. And the ride."
He shrugged like it was nothing, but the warmth in his eyes told you it wasn’t just a casual favor. "Anytime."
You both stepped out of the truck, and the cool night air wrapped around you as you walked toward your front door. Jake fell in step beside you, his hands casually tucked into his pockets, but there was a tension in the air between you, something simmering just beneath the surface. You fumbled with your keys for a second longer than necessary, your fingers brushing against the metal until you finally managed to unlock the door. Pushing it open, you stepped inside, glancing back at Jake as he lingered just outside.
"You coming in?" you asked again, though this time the words felt heavier, more loaded with expectation.
He didn’t hesitate. With one step, he crossed the threshold, and the door clicked shut behind him, sealing you both inside the quiet of your apartment. The soft hum of the city buzzed outside, but here, it was just the two of you. The space felt smaller somehow, more intimate than it usually did. Maybe it was because Jake was standing there, eyes flicking around before they landed back on you.
He stepped closer, his boots thudding softly against the hardwood floor as he made his way into the room, the space between you shrinking.
"So," he drawled, his voice low and smooth, "I know we agreed to no staying the night, but I can still help you unwind, right?"
Your heart raced, your mind already anticipating where this was headed. But you weren’t nervous—just… ready. Ready to let go of whatever stress the day had left behind, ready to let Jake take over the way only he could.
You didn’t say a word, just reached out and grabbed the front of his jacket, pulling him closer until his body was flush against yours. He let out a soft chuckle, his breath warm against your cheek, and his hands found your waist as he looked down at you, eyes searching yours for any hesitation. When he found none, he smirked, fingers tightening ever so slightly as he leaned down, his mouth brushing lightly against the edge of your jaw.
Just like every other time so far, he didn’t kiss you on the lips. Instead, his mouth moved to your neck, and you shivered as his warm breath fanned over your skin. His lips trailed slow, deliberate kisses along your jawline, down to the curve of your shoulder. His hands were already at work, slipping under the hem of your shirt and gliding over the bare skin of your stomach.
You let out a soft exhale, your fingers tugging at his jacket as you felt the tension in your body begin to melt away under his touch. Jake wasted no time. He pushed your shirt up and over your head with one smooth motion before pulling you tighter against him, his mouth moving lower, tracing the line of your collarbone.
Your back hit the wall as he pressed into you, his hands sliding down to your hips, then lower still, his fingers working the button of your jeans. You gasped when his teeth scraped lightly against your skin, a sharp contrast to the soft, warm kisses that had come before. It wasn’t gentle. It wasn’t romantic. And you were more than fine with that.
His hands moved quickly, efficiently, removing your clothes until they were discarded somewhere on the floor, leaving you bare against him. Jake stepped back for just a moment, enough time to shed his own clothes before he closed the distance again, his eyes dark, filled with that familiar hunger.
You didn’t need words. The agreement, the boundaries, everything that defined whatever this was between you—none of it mattered in that moment. What mattered was the heat that sparked between you, the way your bodies moved together, and how easily you both fell into that same rhythm you had the last time.
It wasn’t long before you found yourselves in your bedroom, the soft glow of the moon filtering through the window as Jake laid you back against the mattress, his hands already exploring every inch of your skin, pulling every ounce of tension from your muscles with the expertise that only came with someone like him.
And just like before, it wasn’t romantic. It was raw, physical, and exactly what you needed.
When it was over, you both lay there for a moment, your breaths heavy and mingling in the quiet air of the room. Jake was the first to move, pulling away from you and swinging his legs off the side of the bed. He reached down for his clothes, and you followed suit, slipping out of the bed and grabbing your shirt from where it had landed on the floor.
You disappeared into the bathroom, splashing some water on your face and catching a glimpse of yourself in the mirror. You felt lighter, the stress of the day finally gone, replaced by the easy calm that always followed these nights with Jake.
When you stepped back into the bedroom, Jake was sitting on the edge of the bed, pulling his shirt over his head. He glanced over at you with a grin. "You kicking me out again?"
You laughed softly, shaking your head as you pulled on your own clothes. "No," you said, "but you still can’t stay, and I’m still not offering you breakfast in the morning either."
Jake chuckled at that, his eyes glinting with amusement. He stood up, grabbing his jacket from the chair near the door before turning back to you. "Guess I’ll be heading out then."
You walked him to the door, the silence between you comfortable now, an understanding lingering in the air. As he stepped outside, he paused, looking back at you one more time.
"Let me know when you need to unwind again," he said with a wink, his voice teasing, but you both knew there was an underlying sincerity there.
You smiled, leaning against the doorframe as you watched him walk back to his truck. "I will," you called after him.
And with that, Jake was gone, just like your agreement said. No strings. No staying the night. Just exactly what you both needed.

MDNI / smut
Taglist: open.
A/n: this story may be familiar to some. It’s a rework of one of my older stories where I’ve now changed my fem lead to be reader.
You sat at your desk trying to concentrate on the audio list for this week’s podcasts that you were meant to be giving the go-ahead.
“Brazilian” exclaimed a voice over on the left. Was Hyunjin bringing up waxing again?
“He is definitely from South America.” he continued telling Binnie over on the right.
“You’re wrong, Hyunjin. He is Korean. He has a Korean name.” Binnie replied. Binnie was alway the voice of reason. Always observant and straight to the point.
“I wonder if he speaks Spanish?” Hyunjin raised his eyebrows hopefully. The two young men giggled like school girls. Hyunjin currently had a thing for men from South America.
Thats it, you thought. Who were they talking about? What had you missed?
“Who’s Brazilian?” You looked up from the screen.
Hyunjin looked at you in a way that indicated that you must be working too hard if you didn’t know.
“The new guy for Accounts? They’ve got a new manager.” Hyunjin cooed.
“Oh, you mean Minho? Lee Minho. He’s Korean.” You offered.
You knew who Hyunjin was talking about. You hadn’t seen him yet but rumour had it that he was very business-like and mysterious, apparently. You saw his name in the group email of new starters, and Meg in HR told you about “the handsome new Korean guy”.
Hyunjin huffed dramatically “No, Sarah said he is absolutely from Brazil! He just happens to have a Korean name.” he looked indignant “Or maybe he’s from Mexico, I don’t know.” He added losing his confidence.
You shook your head at Hyunjin.
A sharp knock on their open door interrupted you before you had a chance to respond to Hyunjin’s absurdity.
All three of you looked up and you could swear you heard Hyunjin take in a quick breath from the surprise.
A man you had never seen before, in his twenties, very handsome, clearly Asian, and extremely serious looking, entered the room with a booklet of papers in his hand.
Oh my God was this the man they were talking about?
“Oh hello” you smiled and greeted him. Act professional, you told yourself. You waited for him to speak, and Hyunjin and Binnie sat smirking silently with keen expressions.
“Is this the podcast producing department?” he asked coldly.
“Ah yes.” You continued to smile through gritted teeth. He strode across the office floor and stuck a hand full of papers at you.
“I believe these papers are yours. Your assistant must have put these in the accounts documentation.” He held out a what looked to be one of your client’s podcast season playlists.
How the hell did they get there? And what assistant? The didn’t have any assistants in your department. The penny dropped and you took a sideways glance at Hyunjin, who was awkwardly pretending to be busying himself in his folder.
You looked back up at the man, thanked him kindly, and took the papers from his hand. Wordlessly, he headed back to the door, pausing in the doorway. He turned his head back and said coldly “My family is from Korea, by the way.” Then simply left. How much had he actually heard? But you did notice a hint of humour behind his expression even if he spoke with disdain.
“Whooahh” Hyunjin let out that breath. Had he been holding it this whole time?
You turned her gaze Hyunjin. He looked up. “What?” he shrugged and tried to sound innocent.
“Oh my God, Hyunjin, I cant believe you took confidential client documentation that obviously would lead to this office, and planted it in his work! Do you know how unprofessional we look?” You tried so hard to sound stern, but your friend’s antics, and the length he sometimes went with his elaborate plans always amused you. To be honest, it’s one of the things you loved most about him.
He’s got guts, that boy. Guts and a naivety, or was it immaturity? He was the newest of the trio, you, Binnie and Hyunjin. He fit your little team of three just perfectly. You chuckled to yourself and turned your focus back to work.
“Well we got the info we needed.” Hyunjin chimed back, satisfied.
“But now he must think we are gossips.” Binnie added.
You and Hyunjin shook your heads smiling.
———————————
Much to Hyunjin’s dismay, they didn’t see Minho for another two days, when it was time for a staff meeting.
“Okay, everyone. Listen up,” Christopher Bahng didn’t look, nor sound like a CEO, but he was the boss here at SKZ. He was young. The women loved him, so did the men, but he was always professional with his interactions. His suit made him look more “Mafia Gangster” than and “Office Boss”, but he was kind, fair and had one of the best sense of humours in the building. Everyone called him Chris.
“I want to introduce you to Minho Lee, our new Manager Accountant.” A buzz of hellos filled the room. Minho responded with curt nods, but held an expression that was hard to read.
“Shit, he’s cold looking isn’t he? Look how dark his eyes are.” whispered Felix, from IT. Hyunjin nodded in agreement. But you thought he looked more nervous than anything else. What could be interpreted as cold or having a “resting bitch face” as Hyunjin described it later, really didn’t seem that way to you at all. “Maybe he’s shy?” You offered your colleagues, but they seemed to think he looked indignant and snobby.
You watched Minho curiously. He was rather attractive. His sandy brown hair was perfectly styled. His suit looked quite expensive for a accounting manager. Your eyes drifted over his body. He seemed to be strong, but not buff like Binnie was. Hmmm. Yes, you liked what you saw.
“Put your tongue away, y/n.” Binnie smacked you in the arm. You quickly looked up from Minho’s chest to his face, locking eyes with him. Oh fuck. He’d caught you checking him out and he was staring at you. You felt your cheeks flush, and you cleared your throat returning your attention to your CEO pretending you knew what he was talking about.
———————————
It was 8.00pm. Everyone was gone for the night but you remained at your desk. You had to sort these last scheduling debarcles out. What a fucking nightmare. But you were almost done.
“Okay” last one, you said to yourself, and clicked the little x on your screen.
You leaned back in your chair, reached your hands over your head, letting out a squeal as you stretched your muscles.
Sitting back up, you grabbed your phone and popped on Spotify. As the music started up you opened up your podcast uploading software and began to queue the episodes that needed to go out.
Feeling as though you were finally finished for the day, and since no one else was around, you thought you’d let her hair down so to speak, and have a bit of a sing along - hairbrush-in-the-bedroom style. Well, your office space was like a second home and you felt just as comfortable here as you do in your home.
Exo’s “Love Shot” played loudly through your office. As the chorus began, you slid back your chair dramatically, stood up theatrically, and began to sing and dance the choreography, as sexy as you could.
————————————
But not everybody had gone home. Minho was working back too. His office lights low and in deep concentration. He was tired. He leaned back in his chair and let out a big sigh, closing his eyes. He turned back to his screen to continue with his work, when his concentration was disturbed.
Where the hell was that music coming from? Why the hell was anyone still here?
He got up from his chair and headed out of the office into the hallway. He wasn’t upset or angry, but he was intrigued. He passed the conference rooms stopping outside the source of where the music was coming from. The podcaster’s office.
He stood at the glass window, quietly, and saw you body rolling like rent was due. Minho smirked and laughed quietly. You looked so happy. And fun. His eyes skimmed over your body, drinking in your curves. He found himself standing there longer than he intended. He knew you would be so embarrassed if you saw him, so he stayed quiet to watch. You came across as upfront, but kind, a little sarcastic maybe. But not - this. This was amusing. This was sexy.
Should he walk in, interrupt? He wondered. He’d already walked in on you and the those men gossiping about his origins. You’d tried to play that so cool. He nearly didn’t say anything at all at the time. It really was none of your business where he was from. But he didn’t want to come across as difficult or cold either. He wasn’t that way at all, even though that seemed to be people’s impression of him in the past.
He wondered if you knew that he had been well aware of the little plan of Hyunjin’s when he put their work in his pile of papers?
——————————
You were so absorbed in singing and dancing that you didn't notice the person looking through the glass window. The song was almost done when you turned and caught the slightest glimpse of a figure move past.
You stopped dead in your tracks, completely freaking out on the inside. Someone else was in the building, and that that someone could have seen you. Who were you kidding, there’s no way they didn’t seen you.
You quietly moved to the office entrance and poked your head around the door. There, walking up the corridor in the shadows was Minho. Oh my fucking God. You could have died. Of all people why him? How much did he see? Oh fuck!
Embarrassed as all hell, you quickly turned off the music, packed up your things in record timing and stealthily crept out of the building. You wanted to shrivel up and die.

Overprotective Bat (Part 2)
Part 1
Summary: Azriel has to apologise for being mean. He hates it.
•○●⛦●○•
A/n: i got nothin to say except 🥹🥹🥹
Enjoy!
•○🌑○•
Azriel clutched the tiny hand of his daughter in his, wishing more than ever that he could melt into the ground.
He was more than ready to just vanish into thin air, but the glaring eyes that burned the back of his neck made it impossible to even move his little finger.
The front door of the small, cozy home opened, a head peeking out. The female's eyes widened, taking in the menacing form of the shadowsinger.
"Y-yes? How can I help you?"
"I..." Azriel glanced back at his wife for help, pleading silently. She simply shrugged. With a sigh, Azriel turned back to the female in the doorway, wondering what to say when Hazel spoke up.
"Hello! I am Kaden's friend, Hazel! I made him some cookies!"
The female smiled at Hazel, opening the door wide. "So you are Hazel huh. Kaden's told me all about you sweetheart. I'm Penelope, you can call me Penny. Kaden is playing in his room, why don't you come in?"
Hazel nodded happily, bouncing on the balls of her feet before she followed the female in. Y/n entered after, throwing a warning glance at Azriel.
"Oh for fuck's sake.." Azriel mumbled under his breath, wondering if he could run away now that Y/n was not watching.
One glance at Y/n's retreating form told Azriel he was not going to be saved today.
With a sigh, he tucked in his wings and squeezed himself through the small door, walking in and settling in next to Y/n on the couch Penelope had gestured to before vanishing up the stairs to inform her son of their arrival.
Hazel grinned up at her father, excited to reunite with her friend, unknowing that he was the reason Kaden had stopped talking to her.
Soft steps ran down the stairs, and a moment later, the blonde head of the little boy appeared in the doorway, a huge smile on his face.
"Hazel!" He squealed, taking a step towards her before he paused, his eyes going wide when he realised that the broody spymaster was again staring at him.
His lower lip quivered, and he took a step back and hid his face in his mother's skirt. She looked up at Azriel and Y/n in confusion, her brows knitted.
"I'm sorry, he isn't this shy usually." The female tried to tug on the boy's shoulder, trying to make him look at her to no avail. "Kaden, what is it my boy?"
He sniffled, shaking his head, and Y/n nudged Azriel's side.
Azriel glanced at his daughter, who was twisting her hands nervously in her lap before blowing out a tight breath through his nose and opening his mouth.
"Kaden? Hazel made you some cookies. Here, try them." Azriel grabbed the box of sweets from his shadows, opening the lid and showing it to the boy who was peeking at him.
Kaden stared at the cookies, his sniffles quieting. He glanced up at Azriel, the Y/n and his mother, both who gave him encouraging nods. He slowly made his way over to Azriel, timidly reaching out for the box.
He pulled a cookie out, glancing at Azriel. The spymaster, feeling guilty, offered small smile to the boy, who immediately relaxed.
"Thank you." He turned to hazel, his previous tears forgotten as he mumbled something about toys and games.
Hazel went to grab Kaden's hand, and then the both of them ran away and up to his room.
Azriel glanced at Y/n from the corner of his eyes, who was all smiles as she followed Penelope into the kitchen.
Azriel leaned back into the couch, wondering how he, a spymaster, had to apologise to a little boy.
And he felt absolutely pathetic for being upset over something so trivial.
•○🌑○•
Y/n's pov.
She had been talking to Penelope for over two hours before Azriel declared he was tired, having become fast friends and bonding over their love for baking and cooking. Y/n was pleasantly surprised to find out that Penelope was a chef at one of the restaurants next to the Sidra.
When Y/n had told Penelope the real reason for their visit, Penelope had nearly died laughing.
"So let me get this straight," Penny huffed between bouts of laughter, "You somehow got your husband, the spymaster of the court, to come apologise to a little boy?"
Y/n grinned. "Yes."
Penny giggled again. "Oh I can't wait for Berald to find out that his son created such chaos."
Hazel was currently snoozing on her father's shoulder as he and Y/n walked home, promising a sleepy Kaden that Hazel would come to play again soon enough, much to Azriel's displeasure.
"Azzie?" Y/n mumbled as the two of them entered their home, his silence becoming unbearable.
"Hmm?"
Azriel glanced at Y/n for a moment, then turned back to his daughter as he gently set her sleeping form on the couch.
"Kaden is a child, you know that right?"
He sighed, his hand brushing over Hazel's forehead. "I do."
"You also know that he can't hurt Hazel?"
He sighed again, frustrated. "You can't blame me for trying to keep her safe." He mumbled, his voice small.
Y/n's shoulders slumped in understanding, and after a moment of staring at her husband and daughter, she walked over to the two people that were her world and settled down next to Azriel where he kneeled on the ground, his eyes soft and worried as he stared at his princess. "Azriel, no one can hurt Hazel as long as you live. I'm sure of it."
Az's eyes did not budge from where they rested on Hazel's sweet little face, but Y/n watched as they hardened.
"You're right. No one will ever hurt my princess while I'm alive. So no more boys-"
"Oh for fucks sake Azriel-"
"You said I would keep her safe!-"
"You can't stop her from interacting with every human being-"
"But-"
"Shut up!" Azriel pouted, wrapping his arms across his chest, the action reminding Y/n of Hazel. "Shut up. You can't isolate her Azriel, it will not be good for her mind and growth. You understand me?"
Azriel grumbled but stayed quiet as Y/n climbed to her feet, glaring at him until he nodded. Then, after a moment of staring him down until he started squirming, Y/n pulled him in for a hug, hoping that his worries wouldn't hurt Hazel.
Because if they did, she knew Azriel would not be able to live with himself.
He had too many insecurities as it was, he didn't need more.
•○🌑○•
Sometime in the future.
Y/n knew Azriel would get emotional, and she had bet with Nesta that he would cry.
And she was so very happy for that as she had just won. The look on Nesta's face was as priceless as the trip to the bookstore Nesta had promised her.
But right now, Y/n had no time to jump around happily, so she hastily turned back to the altar, where stood Hazel in a white wedding dress and Kaden in a dark blue suit, staring at each other with tears streaming down their faces as the priestess read the vows to bind them together.
"I knew he was trouble the moment I saw him." Azriel mumbled quietly, though the quiet joy shining in his eyes and emanating from his side was at odds with the statement.
"You know he would never hurt Hazel, right?"
He laughed quietly. "You can' blame me for trying to keep her safe."
Y/n smiled knowing he too was thinking of their conversation fifty years ago. "Yeah well, now you can stop. She now has Kaden, who will die to keep her safe and happy. Nothing you need to worry about now, old male."
The small smile on Azriel's face didn't waver as he whispered. "I'm not old, you hag."
Y/n rolled her eyes, turning back to the altar, where Kaden now leaned in to kiss Hazel. "Sure. It's not like I hear your joints cracking whenever you move."
Y/n had never seen him this happy ever before, knowing his little girl was happy.
Azriel reached out to hold her hand as the two of them watched their daughter, as they realised she was now all grown up.

Bad Reputation Part 2 | Jake "Hangman" Seresin x Taylor Swift inspired!OC
Request: Requested by @akornsworld
Word Count: 9678 words
Summary: There's that saying for some people, “You can't go home again.” When you grow up and leave, that's it, you don't go back home. Presley Joann Benjamin (stage name Presley Jo) believed that was the case for her. Never did she think she would be right back where she started. But her Aunt insisted it was the best for her. She thought for sure her life and career were over until she meets a certain cocky aviator.
Warnings: Alcohol use, angst, maybe some cursing, fluff, crying, Jake being an absolute gentleman
A/N: SURPRISE, I'm not dead, life just sucks ass. Here's an extra-long chapter to make up for my sucking. Hope you like it, I promise the next chapter will have the sexuals. The tag list will be at the end of each chapter.
Chapter 1 Chapter 3
You’d think that after Hangman’s smug answer of still getting my number and buying me a drink, he would have immediately jumped at the opportunity to do so. But that wasn’t the case, much to my confusion. I continued showing up to The Hard Deck to help Penny with various tasks before opening, seeing the aviators there every time, minus Bradley who was apparently out of town packing his items in Virginia to send here. (The Dagger Squad has recently become a permanent fixation in Fightertown). However, despite the number of times I have seen the blonde aviator in the past week, he has yet to make another attempt at getting my phone number. Sure there was still the near-constant flirting, but otherwise nothing.
I was, once again, playing the piano in The Hard Deck, losing myself in the music, when the front door burst open and caught Penny and I’s attention.
“Now I know that beautiful piano playing can only come from my very own star student,” a voice yelled out as they walked into the bar.
I let out a squeal of glee at the sight of a Hawaiian shirt, mustache, and aviators walking further into the bar.
“Bradley,” I called out, running over to him and jumping into his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist.
“How you doin’ Queenie? I leave for a month to pack up my old place and you move back into town,” Bradley greeted me with an equal amount of excitement, holding me up by my thighs and spinning me around before releasing me.
“I’m great, Killer. Glad you’re back. It’s been boring here with Penny and Mav. The only amusement I have is Amelia,” I told the older male.
“Now I know that’s a lie,” Maverick said as he walked in the door behind us.
“You know I’m joking, Mav,” I called out to him as he walked past us towards Penny.
“That's not what he's talking about,” Penny smirked at me with a knowing look.
I widened my eyes and slightly shook my head.
“What are they talking about,” Bradley asked me, going into protective older brother mode.
“Nothing, ignore them,” I reassured him, shrugging the two older adults off.
Bradley nodded in acknowledgment before a look of concern took over his face. “Hey, do you want to talk about it?”
I didn’t have to have so many hints to know what he was referring to. “Not right now. You’re back and I’m happy. Let’s not bring down the mood.”
Bradley nodded at me in understanding before gripping my hand in his own.
“But you know what would make my mood even better,” I offered up.
“What,” Bradley asked me curiously.
“If you play our song,” I requested, leading him towards the piano.
“Oh, god. Please don’t make me,” Bradley groaned sarcastically, willingly following me towards the piano.
“Pleeeeease,” I begged him with a grin.
“Fine,” he agreed, sitting on the bench with me.
“Yay,” I cheered, wrapping my arms around him in a quick hug.
Bradley settled in and ran his fingers over the keys, lightly playing a few before settling his fingers on the correct keys.
“Do I really have to play it right now,” Bradley slightly whined.
“Yes, it's been so long since you played me the only song you helped me write,” I nudged him.
“You wrote it, I merely assisted with occasional input. You should be the one to play it,” he argued with me.
“Bradley Nicholas Bradshaw, just play the damn piano,” I said sternly, focusing a glare on him.
“Alright, alright,” he huffed out.
Bradley began playing the opening notes to my song “Ours.” He nudged me to try and get me to sing, but all I did was shake my head with a hesitant smile. He furrowed his brows, concern in his eyes for a brief moment before he looked back at the piano. I quietly watched him play and propped my head on his shoulder as he did. I could see Penny and Mav working and watching the two of us out of the corner of my eye, whispering to each other now and then. I rolled my eyes at the two of them and continued watching Bradley until the front door opened again. I tensed up and Bradley stopped playing, moving to wrap his arm around my shoulders and place a kiss on the top of my head.
“Hangman, you’re early,” Mav said to the blonde aviator in surprise.
“Yeah, well, nothing wrong with being ahead of schedule,” He explained to Mav with his classic Hollywood smile.
I rolled my eyes at his words and sighed, leaning further into Bradley.
“Well congratulations on being early, Hangman, why don’t you go ahead out to the beach and claim your spot for the day,” Bradley offered up, trying to get rid of him for me.
“I will, once I get a beer,” Jake told him, moving to stand in front of Penny.
The woman nodded and started grabbing it for him, causing him to turn and lean against the bar, his stare burning into the side of my head, unrelenting. I removed myself from Bradley’s side and placed my hands on the keys, filling the silence of the space once again. Bradley placed his hand on my knee while I played and nudged me now and then in an attempt to mess me up. I would just laugh and nudge him back and continue playing until Jake spoke up.
“What, no good morning for me, Darling?”
I stopped playing and briefly glanced up at him with a blank face. “Good morning, Hangman.”
Jake’s face became a look of confusion at me calling him “Hangman” instead of “Jake” or “Mr. Eastwood.”
“So you two have met already,” Bradley realized, his hand on my knee tightening slightly.
“Yep,” I said simply, continuing my playing.
“Why didn’t you tell me,” He asked me curiously.
“Because it was nothing worth discussing,” I informed him, ignoring the hurt look that briefly flashed on Jake’s face.
“I’m sure that’s not true sweetheart,” Jake tried arguing.
“It is. Considering you haven’t said much to me since then,” I argued with him, looking up at him with a blank face.
Jake remained silent, staring at me in deep thought. All I did was shrug at him and gesture my head towards the back door.
“Looks like your beer is ready for you Hangman. Better go claim your spot on the beach before everybody else shows up.”
The five of us went silent after my words, Jake staring at me in shock. The silence remained for a few seconds before Mav cleared his throat.
“Presley, we left a few things in Bradley’s truck, you wanna help him grab them real quick and take them down to the beach?”
I silently nodded at him before standing from the piano bench. I gripped Bradley’s hand in my own and pulled him out the front door with me to the Bronco. What I missed when I was exiting was Jake glaring at our hands with disdain.
A few hours later, Dogfight football was over and the aviators were clearing out to go home and clean up before returning to the Hard Deck for Friday night drinks. Mav and Bradley returned inside to tell Penny and me they were leaving and would be back later. I smiled at the two men in acknowledgment and wrapped myself around Bradley like a koala bear once again, causing him to laugh and place his hands under my thighs. Our laughs were cut off by the back door of the bar opening and Hangman walking in, a small garbage bag in his hands. He looked between the two of us and glared, rolling his eyes before looking at Penny.
“Penny my dear,” He called out, causing Penny to turn to him. “Where do you want me to put this?”
“Oh, you can go ahead and take it out to the dumpster. Presley, can you show him where it is,” Penny called back to me.
I sighed and nodded, Bradey releasing me back to the ground. I began walking towards the kitchen doors, through the kitchen, and to the side door that leads to the dumpster.
“You know, I didn’t realize you had a boyfriend. If I knew that I wouldn’t have tried to get your number,” Jake said to me as he walked past me and threw the trashbag in the dumpster.
“I don’t have a boyfriend,” I told him, furrowing my brows in confusion. “And don’t use that as an excuse for how you have been the past week.”
“I’m not using it as an excuse, even though I have no idea what you mean. And I’m talking about how you have been acting today with Rooster,” Jake told me, placing his hands on his hips.
“Rooster,” I said in confusion.
“Yes, Rooster,” Jake nodded.
I stared at him for a second with confusion still on my face. “Who the fuck is Rooster?”
“Bradshaw,” He supplied for me.
Realization ran over me like a truck. “Bradley?” Jake nodded at me. “Bradley Bradshaw?”
“Yes,” Jake told me impatiently.
“Bradley’s not my boyfriend,” I told him with a shake of my head.
“He’s not,” He asked me in confusion.
“No. He’s not. He’s like my brother,” I explained to him.
“Oh…,” Jake said meekly.
“Jesus Christ,” I sighed out to myself, shaking my head and moving to go back inside.
“Well, can I get your number then,” Jake called after me.
I stopped in my tracks and looked back at him. “No,” I shouted at him in disbelief.
“Why not,” He asked me in an offensive tone.
“Why not? Did you seriously just ask me that,” I questioned him back in disbelief. “I can list off all of the reasons if you would like me to. Let’s start with the fact that you basically ignored me all week and just made a little flirtatious comment here and there.”
“I wouldn’t say I ignored you,” He argued with me.
“Really? Then what would you call it, Hangman,” I questioned him.
Jake went quiet as he looked up at the sky in thought, trying to decide what he was going to say.
“Exactly,” I scoffed.
“Okay, fine, I’ll admit that my actions the past week haven’t been the best. But please don’t let that affect the image you have of me. I’m just Jake, stop calling me Hangman,” Jake shrugged at me.
“Should I also add on the fact that you thought the guy who I grew up with was my boyfriend,” I offered up, causing him to wince.
I once again rolled my eyes and turned around, opening the door to go back inside. I made it halfway through the kitchen before Jake grabbed my arm and stopped me from walking any further.
“Okay, Presley, I’ll admit it, I was a jackass. A complete Jerk. I’m sorry. Just, please give me a chance to show you the real me. Okay? Not Hangman, Jake. Let me get your number, let me take you on a date. Whether that is to just get drinks or an actual dinner,” Jake begged me.
“Why are you so desperate to go on a date with me, Hangman, huh,” I questioned him curiously, turning to look at him with a glare.
“First of all, I believe I told you to call me Jake,” he told me, raising a single finger in my face. “Second-”
He didn't get to continue when I cut him off by grabbing his finger and pulling his hand out of my face. “Don't put your finger in my face.”
Jake let a small smirk come over his lips before throwing his hands up in surrender and stepping back from me. “Sorry, Darlin’.”
“Don't call me Darlin’ either,” I demanded, imitating his accent and crossing my arms over my chest.
“How about sweetheart instead,” Jake offered up, his smirk widening as he shoved his hands in his shorts pockets. My glare hardened at his words, causing him to shrug in acknowledgment. “Alright, I get it, nicknames are off the table.”
I scoffed and rolled my eyes, shaking my head at him.
“What do you want from me? An autograph? Private show for you and your closest friends and family? The chance to say you went on a date with and stole “The Princess's” innocence? Because I can promise you, that ship sailed long ago,” I rattled off.
“Honestly,” Jake asked me, not taking his eyes full of clear amusement off of me.
“No, lie to me,” I sarcastically replied with an eye roll.
Jake let a chuckle of amusement escape before stepping close to me once again. “I want a chance.”
“A chance for what,” I huffed.
“A chance to be able to show you how you deserve to be treated. To stand on your doorstep holding flowers on our first date, tell you that you look absolutely beautiful before walking you to the car, where I will open the door for you and help you into your seat, which, FYI, won’t be the only time I open the door and help you into your seat that night. I want a chance to walk you back up to your door at the end of the night and tell you, for probably the thousandth time that night, how beautiful you look and tell you “No thank you, I don’t want to join you inside.” Because let’s be honest, you are going to be so impressed and obsessed with me by the end of the night you’ll want nothing more than to get me into bed with you, but you deserve more respect than that so I’ll just place a kiss on your cheek, tell you I’ll call you, watch you walk inside, and wait till I hear the lock click before leaving just to be sure that you got in safely.” He said softly with an equally soft smile, looking down at me with adoration in his eyes.
I shook my head at him with a small laugh of disbelief. “Is that all?”
“No. Finally, I want a chance to go home at the end of the night, and text you “Goodnight beautiful, sweet dreams”, you be the last thing on my mind before I go to sleep and the first when I wake up, and text you “good morning sweetheart” with a little winky face emoji despite how much I despise the use of them,” He finished, winking at me.
I stared at him in silence for a moment, taking him and his words in. Weighing the pros and cons in my head, the pros very obviously outweigh the cons in numbers but not in severity. I looked down at the floor, taking in my Converse and his sandals shoes before sighing and looking up at the aviator.
“My favorite flowers are white roses and blue baby’s breath, and I love Italian food,” I told him simply.
He held my stare, nodding in acknowledgment as he tried to hold back a smile. “Noted.”
I shook my head at him again and tried to force down my smile as well. “You can pick me up at 6. If you’re even a minute late, I’m changing into my PJs and watching rom-coms with Amelia.”
“Don’t plan on it, sweetheart,” He reassured me.
I shook my head at him in disbelief once again before turning to walk away from him. “See you tomorrow night.”
“I’m counting on it,” He called out to me as I walked away.
“Okay, what do you think,” I asked Amelia, turning around from my mirror for her and Theo to see the simple high-waisted skirt and tucked-in white button-up I was wearing.
I watched the teen and dog sitting on my bed tilt their heads as I spun around for them to see the whole outfit. I stopped when I was facing them again, watching them scrutinize me. They were silent for a moment before Theo released a small noise, causing Amelia to nod in agreement with him.
“Theo’s right, it’s not nice enough,” She hummed out.
I sighed in frustration and slapped my thighs. “Amelia, this is the third outfit I’ve tried on.”
“Well, keep trying stuff on because we haven’t found the right thing yet,” She told me, causing Theo to bark in what seemed like agreement.
I glared at the two of them before turning back towards my closet and going through my clothes again. I reached the section filled with dresses and began looking through them carefully when Amelia gasped.
“That’s the one! The little black dress, it’s a classic,” She squealed, hopping off my bed and grabbing it out of the closet.
I gasped at her before grabbing it. “Oh, no.”
“Why not,” She asked me in frustration, trying to grab it back.
“Because this dress is special. It’s a third date dress, at least,” I stressed to her, moving it out of her grip and hanging it back up.
“How is it a third date dress,” She argued with me.
I looked over the dress, taking in the straps that were just tied, meaning easy access. I cleared my throat before looking over at her and shrugging. “Reasons.” Amelia rolled her eyes and didn’t look like she was going to let her question go unanswered. “Look, you’re in high school, so you may or may not understand the concept, but when you start to get older you have certain clothing items that you deem third-date material.”
“Like…,” She trailed off.
I rolled my eyes before pointing at the dress. “Like a dress that you feel really… hot… in. Or a bra that shows off the goods.”
“A bra, really,” She asked in disbelief.
“Yes, I have a third date bra. Two actually,” I informed her, crossing my arms over my chest.
“Hm. Can I have a third date bra,” She asked me curiously, placing her hands on her hips.
I sat for a moment in silence, contemplating my answer. “I’ll get you one when you’re older,” I told her turning back to my closet.
I moved my black dress out of the way to look at the next dress, a hum escaping me at the light blue dress hanging in front of me. A simple mini dress with a tiered flowy bottom that ended about mid-thigh and instead of a zipper bringing together the back of the dress there were two bows to tie together.
“That’s it,” Amelia said from over my shoulder, Theo barking once again to seemingly voice his agreement.
I paired the dress with a pair of white stilettos and a white blazer. I lightly curled my light brown hair so it fell in waves and did a simple makeup look with my signature red lips. I decided to do a set of pearl earrings with a matching necklace and bracelet with my mom's rings resting on my right ring finger. I stepped back from my mirror and smoothed my dress down, turning around so I could see the back as well. I released a hum of appreciation for myself when I heard the doorbell ring at 6 o'clock on the dot. I listened to Theo barking and Amelia yelled out that she would get it. I widened my eyes and spun around to grab my clutch before booking it out of my room.
“No, Mia, I got it,” I yelled out to her, rushing through the hallway and down the stairs.
When I reached the bottom, I looked over to see a teenage girl with a dog sitting by her heels interrogating a grown adult man.
“What exactly are your intentions with my cousin,” Amelia asked Jake.
Jake released a chuckle, clutching the flowers in his hands closer to his chest. “I intend to take her to a nice dinner and treat her with the utmost respect.”
“Are you going to hold the door open for her and help her into her seat,” she questioned him, crossing her arms over her chest.
“That was the plan. You can ask her yourself,” he said with a light smirk.
“And if you touch her…,” Amelia trailed off.
“Nothing more than respectful hand-holding and a kiss on the cheek… with her permission of course,” Jake reassured.
“Good, because I may be tiny, but I know people and I have a dog that's ready to defend when necessary,” Amelia threatened Jake, causing his face to contort in amusement.
I chose this time to walk over to the door and wrap my arm around the teenager.
“Okay, Amelia, thank you,” I said to her as I steered her away from the door.
Once she was no longer facing Jake she dropped her stern expression and looked at me with a big grin. “I like him, keep him,” she whispered to me.
“Well, it's hard for me to decide if I want to keep him if I don't go on a date with him,” I whispered back to her, sending her and Theo on their way.
I turned back to the door to see Jake staring at me in amazement. I blushed as he raked his gaze up and down my form before he met my eyes. I let a small smile grow on my face and clasped my clutch in front of me.
“Hi,” I said softly.
“Wow,” Jake released a breath and nodded at me. “You didn't hold back did you?”
I raised my eyebrows in question, causing his smile to widen at my oblivious expression.
“You don't just look beautiful, Darlin’. You look angelic,” he told me.
“Angelic, huh,” I murmured, looking down at my feet before looking at him shyly from under my lashes.
The two of us stood in silence staring at each other for a few seconds before Amelia stepped forward once again.
“Are those for Presley,” she asked, gesturing to the flowers in Jake's hand.
The two of us broke our gaze, I whipped my head around to look at her briefly before looking quickly back at Jake. Jake briefly widened his eyes and looked down at the flowers before looking back up at the two of us.
“Uh, yes, they are,” he said, holding them out to me.
I accepted them and a smirk formed on my lips. “White roses and baby's breath.”
“Yeah, I heard someone say they were your favorite,” he smirked back at me.
I shook my head in amusement at him as Amelia spoke up again.
“I can put them in a vase for you if you'd like?”
I looked back at Amelia and nodded. “Yes, please, Amelia. I would appreciate that. Thank you.”
Amelia nodded back at me and took the flowers from my hands. “I'll put them in your room for you. You have fun.”
“Thank you, Amelia, we will,” Jake told the teenager, reaching forward to grab my hand and therefore sending my attention back towards him.
I raised my eyebrow at him and allowed him to pull me closer to him. Jake smiled at me and pulled me out the door, closing it behind us, and led me to his car.
“Why am I not surprised that you own a pickup truck,” I questioned rhetorically.
Jake's smile widened as he led me to the passenger side. He opened the door and looked at me before shrugging.
“It's part of the cowboy starter pack, along with a hat, boots, a flannel, blue jeans, and a really big belt buckle,” Jake replied sarcastically.
I smirked and shook my head at him. “Is that all?”
“Nope, it also comes with a certain charm that makes it very hard for a woman to say no to me,” He added, a smirk growing on his face too.
“Oh, really,” I asked in a sarcastic tone.
“Mhm,” He hummed.
I rolled my eyes and moved closer so I was standing right in front of him. “I don’t think that’s true.”
“Well, we’re here aren’t we,” Jake said, referring to our date.
I scoffed and went to reply to him, but I cut myself off with a squeal as Jake bent down to pick me up, delicately placing me in his passenger seat. I looked at him with wide eyes as he pulled the seatbelt from where it was resting and reached over me to buckle me in.
“I can do it myself,” I reminded him.
“I know. This way, if you try and run off from me before our date even starts, I know it will take you longer to get out of my truck,” He told me with a wink before closing the door.
I watched him walk around the front of the truck before climbing in on his side and starting the car. He reached over and placed one hand on my seat and looked behind him as he backed out with one hand. I watched with rapt attention and felt myself blush at his actions. Jake glanced over at me when he finished and smirked at my reaction, causing me to roll my eyes and my blush to darken as he drove off toward our destination.
I felt my eyes widen in shock at the restaurant he pulled up to, one of the most expensive Italian restaurants in San Diego.
“Jake, we don’t have to eat here,” I reassured him, glancing over at him quickly.
“You said you wanted Italian. I'm taking you to get Italian,” he told me, getting out of the truck and handing his keys to the valet, jogging around the vehicle to get to my side and open the door for me.
“I would have been perfectly fine with a hole-in-the-wall diner,” I explained, accepting his hand to help me out of the truck.
“Absolutely not. I'm getting the best food for the best girl. You deserve nothing less,” Jake told me, gripping my hand tightly in his and leading me into the restaurant.
“I just want to be sure that you brought me here because you wanted to, not because you felt like you had to because of who I am,” I argued with him, watching him pull the door to the restaurant open and hold it for me.
“Presley, I can promise you that I am bringing you here of my own volition,” Jake reassured me as I walked past him.
Jake held his arm out for me to wrap around before leading me up to the host stand.
“Reservation for Seresin,” Jake told the young woman.
The woman looked up with a bright smile which turned into shock when she saw me.
“Oh, my god. You're Presley Jo,” she gasped out.
“Yep,” I nodded at her looking around and hoping no one else said anything.
“I love your music. You are literally so amazing. I totally don't believe anything that's being said about you by the way. Especially not by that disgusting perv that is now your ex-manager,” she said quickly, causing me to become uncomfortable with the topic at hand.
“Okay,” I said awkwardly, tightening my grip on Jake's arm.
The young girl went to speak again but was cut off by who I'm assuming is the manager.
“Miss Benjamin, if we would have known you were going to be coming to our fine establishment we would have planned for your arrival a little better.”
“Oh, that's not necessary,” I reassured, leaning into Jake.
“Nonsense. I'll get the best table for you,” he told me, beginning to snap his fingers to get a worker's attention.
“That's not- whatever was originally set up for the Seresin reservation is just fine,” I reassured the man, but I was ignored as he walked away to get a table for us.
“So… is this what it's like every time you go out,” Jake asked me curiously after remaining silent the entire interaction.
I sighed and nodded, avoiding eye contact with him. “Sadly.”
We remained quiet for a second before I broke it.
“If you don't want to continue, I understand. You can take me home now and I won't say anything negative to Penny, Amelia, Maverick, or Rooster,” I reassured him, giving him an out if he wanted it.
“I'm not taking you home,” he argued with me.
“Jake, it's fine if you do,” I argued back.
“Presley Joanna Benjamin,” he said above me, causing me to go quiet and stare at him in shock, a slight heat pooling in my stomach at his tone of voice. “I am not taking you home. I said I was going to take you on a date and treat you how you deserve to be treated. Let me do that.”
“Fine,” I said reluctantly, blushing and looking at my feet.
“Thank you. Now enjoy yourself,” he told me, reaching down, grabbing my clutch out of my hand to hold in his own, and intertwining his empty hand with my own.
The manager returned and led Jake and me to our table, which was placed in the middle of the room for everybody to see. Everyone stared at the two of us as Jake pulled my chair out for me before going around the table to sit on his own. The waiter came and took our drink orders, wine for me, and whiskey for Jake. We were just beginning to look at the menus when a flash went off from next to me. I looked over to see a young girl with her family holding her phone up towards me.
“Oh, no. Please don't post that,” I begged the girl, beginning to push my seat back from the table.
Jake lifted his head and looked at me in confusion before following my gaze. He noticed the girl tapping on her screen and sighed.
“Presley,” Jake whispered to me, trying to get my attention.
“Seriously, please don't,” I begged her, ignoring him.
The girl looked up from her phone and smirked. “What, scared for everyone to find out you tricked another guy into dating you?”
I gulped at her words and fought back the tears.
“I never tricked anybody into dating me,” I told her quietly.
“Tell that to the paparazzi when they get here,” she said smugly before posting the photo.
I could feel the color drain from my face at her actions and continued staring at her phone in horror. I immediately grabbed my clutch off the table and stood from my seat.
“We have to go,” I announced to Jake.
“Presley, we just got here,” Jake argued with me.
“Yes, and believe it or not even though we live in San Diego, the paparazzi will be here in about 5 minutes, 10 if we're lucky. And considering I've been sneaking around and staying out of trouble, they're going to be even more desperate to get my picture,” I argued back with him, turning away from the table and beginning to walk to the exit.
“Presley, hold on, just wait,” Jake called after me, jumping from his seat and rushing after me.
I made it to the lobby of the restaurant before Jake grabbed my arm and stopped me in my tracks, pulling me towards him.
“Presley, let's just wait a second, okay,” he said calmly, soothingly rubbing my arms.
“I don't have time to just wait a second, Jake. What do you not understand about that," I told him, my frustration building.
“Pres, come on, just talk to me,” he begged me, leaning down to look into my eyes.
“I will be more than happy to talk to you in the car. Come on,” I told him, tilting my head towards the door.
“I'm not going to get the car, alright? Let's just sit down, have a drink, and-”
“I DON’T HAVE THE LUXURY TO JUST SIT DOWN IN PUBLIC AND HAVE A DRINK AND A NICE CONVERSATION, JAKE, OKAY,” I yelled, cutting him off.
Jake went quiet and stared at me in shock, dropping his hands from my arms and down to his sides. He opened his mouth to speak again, but I continued before he could.
“You’re asking me to do something I haven't had the luxury of doing in a very long time because people are always on my ass just waiting for the second I screw up all so they can capture it on film and sell it to the highest bidder. And if you want a good example of that, well just look at what they're saying about me right now all because I refused to let some perv use me to his advantage,” I blurted out.
“Presley-,” he started again.
“No you just don't get it, Jake, okay,” I cut him off, tears building up in my eyes from my frustration.
“Then help me to understand,” he begged me.
I looked into his bright green eyes and took a deep breath.
“This isn't something that I can explain and you just magically understand, Jake. This has been my entire life for the past 10 years,” I snapped out.
Right as I finished my statement, a crowd began forming out in front of the restaurant, flashes going off as the cameras pointed at us. I looked over and stared at them for a moment, sighing in frustration before looking at Jake.
“And now it's going to be yours for the next 10 minutes. Enjoy,” I shrugged at him, gesturing towards the large crowd before walking towards the exit.
“Presley,” Jake called out, trying to get me to stop. “At least let me drive you home,” he called out to me.
“No, thank you,” I called back to him, pushing the front door open and beginning my trek through the paparazzi.
All of them began shouting questions at me as the valet began trying to help me shove through the group. Asking me questions like where I've been hiding, what are my plans for my career, and the dreaded when will I speak out on what has happened? I kept my head down and pushed my way through the crows of yelling and flashing lights. When I reached the curb, the valet assisted me in calling a cab, waving his arm around to grab the attention of the car. I sighed out a quick thank you and handed him some spare cash I had in my clutch before climbing in and shouting my address to the driver and telling him to step on it. The last thing I saw as I drove away was Jake standing in the doorway of the restaurant with a heartbroken look.
When I got home I immediately walked up to the front door, dug my house keys out of my clutch, and unlocked the door. I walked in threw my keys down in the bowl and slipped my heels off as Theo came running around the corner to greet me. I turned and locked the door before throwing my clutch on the cabinet in the entryway.
“Hey, buddy,” I sighed, rubbing his head before walking into the living room.
“Hey, that was quick,” Amelia said to me in shock, looking over the back of the couch at me.
“We didn’t even make it to the appetizers,” I said blandly after releasing a groan.
“That bad,” Amelia asked curiously.
I walked into the living room and collapsed on the couch with a sigh. Amelia adjusted her blanket so it was covering the two of us and Theo hopped on the couch between the two of us after her actions. He spun around a few times before settling, his head resting in my lap.
“Some girl there posted a picture of me, the place was swarming with the paparazzi within 5 minutes,” I explained to her.
“Oh, Lee, I’m so sorry,” Amelia told me, adjusting herself so her head was resting on my shoulder in comfort.
“It’s okay, kiddo. It's not like it was your fault. It’s my fault for thinking I could live a somewhat normal life,” I reassured her, running my hands through her hair.
“So, did Jake drop you off,” She asked me curiously.
“No, I got into an argument with him and got a cab home,” I answered.
“Oh,” she groaned in sympathy for me. “Do you think you’ll give him another chance?”
“It’s not me giving him another chance you should worry about. It’s whether or not he’ll give me another one,” I explained. Amelia lifted her head and went to respond but I cut her off. “Let’s stop talking about my total disaster of a first date and just enjoy the rest of the night together.”
“Okay, fine,” Amelia agreed reluctantly with a sigh.
“Great! Now what are we watching?”
“The Proposal.”
“I love it. I’ll get changed and get snacks,” I told her, moving to get up from the couch.
Amelia laughed as I walked out of the living room and towards the stairs, but I stopped when the doorbell rang.
“Amelia, are you expecting somebody,” I called out to the teenager.
“No,” She called back.
I walked up to the front door and flicked the lock, opening it to find Jake standing on the other side.
“Jake,” I said in shock, looking out behind him and up and down the street.
“None of them followed me if that’s what you’re checking for,” He reassured me.
I looked back at him and sighed. “What are you doing here?”
“I wanted to make sure you got home safely,” He explained, nervously looking down at his feet before looking me in the eye.
“Well, thank you,” I told him hesitantly.
Jake nodded at me in acknowledgment as the silence between us began to hang. The first awkward silence to ever occur between the two of us.
“You can-” “I just want to-”
The two of us spoke at the same time, causing both of us to immediately pause and stare at each other.
“What were you about to say,” Jake asked me, gesturing for me to go on.
“Oh, no. You can go first,” I reassured him.
“What I have to say can wait,” Jake told me.
“Jake, what I was going to say isn’t important. What were you going to say,” I asked him.
Jake stared at me silently, the furrow of his brow letting me know he was deep in thought, deciding what he was going to say.
“I just want to say, I'm sorry and you were right,” he released.
I stared at him in shock as he continued.
“I don't understand what you go through daily, or what you went through for the past 10 years. I don't understand how hard it must be for you to try and do anything normal because I've never experienced your life myself. Seeing what you were going through tonight, the good and the bad, made me realize how different we and the lives we live are,” he told me, causing dread to build in my stomach, knowing the next words to come out of his mouth are going to break me.
“But that doesn’t change the fact that I would love nothing more than to get to know you and for you to talk to me. Help me understand what it is that you deal with in your life. Tell me what I can do to earn your trust and support you. Because, darlin’, I plan on being here for the long run.”
I widened my eyes in shock at his words and felt tears well up in my eyes as well. I have never had a guy step up and tell me such things. They’ve always been takers. People are more interested in my fame than in working to understand me for who I am. Who I can be when you take away that part of me. I took a deep breath and then released it, looking at my feet briefly before looking back at the blonde aviator.
“If you’ll have me, that is,” Jake added nervously, clearly concerned about my silence.
I gave him a soft smile. “I think that can be arranged.”
I could see Jake visibly relax at my words. It was almost as if he had 100 pounds of weight lifted off of his shoulders. His nervous look changed to one of glee, and he turned his charm back up.
“Thank goodness, because I didn’t know what I was going to do with this if you said no,” Jake said, reaching over to the side of the porch.
I watched him lift a plastic bag with a couple of styrofoam containers, a bottle of wine wrapped in a brown paper bag, and a large pizza box. I chuckled in amusement while shaking my head before looking at the man with a questioning look.
“I promised you Italian,” He said simply with a shrug.
“You are…,” I trailed off, not knowing the exact words I wanted to use for the man.
“Hopefully the words you are looking to end that with are all positive,” He said with a grin. “Can I come inside? We can talk everything over.”
I grinned and went to answer, but I was cut off by a voice whispering “Say yes” behind me. Jake and I shared a look of amusement and I released a small chuckle.
“You know, I was unsure about my answer at first, but I just have this small, nagging, annoying voice telling me I should let you in,” I told him with a smirk.
“Hey,” Amelia whined out at my insults.
Jake released a chuckle at the teenager as well and peeked slightly in the door to see the teenager hiding around the corner.
“Well, I think you should listen to the all-knowing and wise voice,” Jake directed at me while looking at Amelia and giving her a wink. “Especially because the pizza is getting colder as we speak.”
I shook my head at him in amusement before opening the door wider. “Would you like to join me upstairs?”
Jake’s smile widened before nodding. “I would love nothing more.”
Jake walked in the door and removed his shoes, placing them next to my own. I turned around to make my way to the kitchen to grab a wine opener and glasses, but I was shocked to find my teenage cousin standing in the doorway already holding the items out to me. I shook my head at her in amusement before stepping forward and accepting the items from her.
“Raincheck on The Proposal,” I asked her with a pout.
“Ryan Reynolds will just have to wait,” Amelia agreed with an exaggerated sigh.
The two of us laughed together before I turned and led Jake upstairs to my room. Jake followed me silently through the hallway until we reached my bedroom, taking in everything while I closed the door, leaving it open a few inches. Jake set everything on my desk while I grabbed my blanket off of the bed and laid it down on the floor, grabbing a few pillows and laying them down as well. Jake removed his leather bomber jacket with all of his navy patches and rested it over the back of my desk chair. I took a seat on the floor and he followed me soon after, placing the food on the floor before taking a seat.
“I have to say, I didn’t think this would be the first time I would be in your room,” Jake told me with a smirk as he grabbed the wine opener.
“Yeah, what was that you told me about saying no to coming upstairs on the first date,” I questioned him smugly, leaning back against my bed.
“Hey, now. This is different,” Jake defended with a smile of amusement, a brief chuckle escaping him as he pulled the cork out of the wine bottle.
“Mhm, sure,” I agreed sarcastically, holding my wine glass out towards him to fill.
“It is,” He argued with me as he filled my glass.
“How so,” I asked him curiously.
“Well, for starters, I said I would tell you no to coming inside at the end of our date, and it does not appear to be the end of our date yet,” Jake pointed out, gesturing to the spread of pizza and garlic bread laid out in front of us.
“Okay, you got me there,” I nodded at him as he filled his glass.
“And, I told you that you were going to be so impressed and obsessed with me that you will never want me to leave,” Jake finished off, setting the wine down and placing the cork back inside of it.
“Well what makes you think I’m not already impressed and obsessed with you,” I argued with him.
“I never said you weren’t,” Jake pointed out.
I rolled my eyes at him and chuckled. “Alright, fine. So I might be impressed already, but I don’t think I’ve quite reached the point of obsession yet.”
“Well, our night has only just begun,” Jake said smugly, winking at me with his Hollywood movie star smile.
“Well, then, here’s to my eventual obsession,” I said back just as smugly, holding my wine glass out towards him.
“To your eventual obsession,” Jake cheered with me, clinking his glass against my own.
The two of us drank our wine before digging into our food. Jake handed me a paper plate and napkin from the bag before opening the pizza box, the two of us letting out a groan at the sight of the pizza in front of us.
“Okay, just pick one,” He told me, moving the box closer to me.
“Oh, I get to pick first,” I asked him sarcastically.
“Yep, ladies first,” He told me with a bright grin.
“Are you sure? That’s quite the thing to bestow upon somebody,” I said sarcastically, leaning my head back against the bed.
“I’m positive. Go ahead darlin’,” He told me, nudging the box closer to me.
“Okay,” I told him, grabbing the slice I wanted and folding it so it was easier to eat. “Don’t judge how I eat my pizza. I roll it crust side out because I’m a lady.”
“Hey, no judgment here, honey,” Jake reassured me, grabbing a slice for himself and folding it as well.
I giggled at his actions and held it out to cheer him again before the two of us took a bite of our pizza, releasing groans of pleasure at the deliciousness.
“So, now that we have our date back on track, good food, good wine, and hopefully good company,” Jake listed off, looking over at me at his last words with a hopeful expression.
“Very good company,” I reassured him, taking a bite of my pizza.
“How about we get started on you helping understand everything about you,” Jake offered up.
I went quiet at his words and looked down at my lap. “Are you sure you want that?”
“Like I said Darlin’, I want to be in it for the long run,” He reassured me.
I sighed. “Like I said, this has been my life for 10 years…”
I told him everything. From being discovered to now. All the happy times, all the sad times. The joy of being recognized and winning awards. The sadness of rumors being spread and having my heart broken time and time again. The times when I was made the bad guy even though I did nothing wrong. Then I told him about what caused me to be sent back to San Diego in the first place.
“So what happened with your manager exactly,” Jake asked me curiously.
“Since the beginning, he always seemed a little off. It was almost like he was waiting for something to happen so he could slither his way in and take advantage of me. After my most recent breakup, I was receiving more hate than usual. He started putting in my head that I was losing everything and I was about to be a nobody. A washed-up pop singer who had it all one day then nothing the next. I started to believe him and I was thinking “What am I going to do?” Then I realized that he was lying to me. He was just trying to brainwash me and weaken me.”
“Why,” Jake asked me.
“Because he was a disgusting pig who wanted me for himself. I confronted him about everything, he forced himself on me and said that I would have nothing if it weren’t for him. He told me if I fired him he would tell everybody about what I did to him. Which was nothing. I was nothing but good to him. He told me if I didn’t sleep with him and do whatever he wanted me to do that I was finished. So I told him I would rather be finished than used and abused like a slave. So I fired him and here I am now. Lies being spread about me left and right.”
I went quiet at the end of my explanation, looking down at my lap as I had tears build up in my eyes. Jake remained quiet for a moment as my tears began to stream down my face. I listened to Jake release a sigh before he placed a hand on my knee. He began soothingly rubbing my knee before speaking.
“I am so sorry you had to go through that Presley. You didn’t deserve it. Believe me when I say that and believe me when I say not everybody believes what is being said about you,” Jake reassured me.
“Thank you,” I whispered to him.
He nodded and removed his hand from my knee, bringing it up to wipe my tears from my face. I brought my hand up and grabbed his own, pressing it closer to my face and turning my cheek into his palm. Jake rubbed his thumb against my cheekbone and I turned my head more to press a kiss against the inside of his palm. I gripped his hand in both of mine and brought it down to my lap, intertwining my fingers with his own before looking up at him and looking into his eyes. Jake’s eyes softened when we made eye contact and I could see him release a deep breath that he was holding in. He squeezed my hand before breaking eye contact, looking down at the floor and releasing my hand.
“It’s late, I think I better-”
I cut him off by placing my lips against his own, causing him to gasp in surprise. It was a chaste kiss, an innocent press of the lips against each other for a few moments before I pulled away from him. I opened my eyes and watched Jake do the same, the two of us staring into each other’s eyes once again. Jake’s surprise turned into a smirk not long after I pulled away, and he placed his hand back on my cheek.
“Where do you think you’re going Darlin’,” He said smugly before placing his lips back on my own.
I couldn’t help but smile into the kiss as he continued placing his lips against my own in a dance only we knew with each other. I brought my hands up to wrap around his neck, pulling myself closer to him until I was pressed against him, moving to straddle his hips to become closer to him. Jake’s hands remained respectfully on my hips as we kissed, rubbing his thumb across my hip bone occasionally. I released my hold on his neck to thread one of my hands into the hair at the back of his head and trailed my other hand down to one of his own on my hip, guiding it farther south to rest on my cheek. I allowed myself to grind down on him briefly, causing him to groan into the kiss and break away.
“Darlin’, remember what I said about wanting to treat you how you deserve to be treated and being respectful,” Jake rasped out to me, pressing his forehead against mine. I hummed in acknowledgment of his question. “Well, right now, you’re making it very hard on me to do so, and I think we should stop now and I should leave before we do something we shouldn’t and I’m not able to stop.”
“Who said I want you to stop,” I whispered to him before placing my lips back on his, and he returned the kiss eagerly.
However, our continuation was short-lived by a bark and slobbery kiss being placed on the side of my face.
“Theo,” I groaned out, moving off of Jake so the dog could climb on top of me.
“Well, look at that. Saved by the dog,” Jake said smugly, causing me to glare at him in annoyance. Jake smirked back at me before standing from the floor. “Why don’t you walk me out, Darlin’?”
I sighed before nodding and standing from the floor, lightly pushing Theo off of me in the process. I gripped his hand in my own and walked through the hallway and down the stairs. I looked over into the living room to see Amelia asleep on the couch, Jake following my gaze with a small smile. I shrugged at him before leading him over to the front door.
“Thank you for tonight. I had a really great time,” I told him shyly, gripping his hand in my own.
“Well, I’m glad you did,” He nodded at me, stopping with me in front of the door.
“Maybe we can do this again,” I offered up, playing with his fingers.
“We definitely will, Darlin’. But next time, you're coming to my place,” he smirked at me.
I smirked back. “Is that wise? After what Theo just interrupted.”
“Oh, I can control myself, sweetheart. The question is whether or not you can,” he said smugly, leaning down closer to me.
“I guess we'll just have to wait and see,” I whispered, leaning in closer to him.
“I guess so,” Jake whispered back, leaning in to kiss me once again.
However we were interrupted by the door opening, Penny and Maverick stepping in through the front door. Jake and I froze while the two older adults stared at the two of us in shock.
“Fun night,” Penny asked smugly.
“Nothing happened,” I reassured her before grabbing Jake's hand in my own and leading him out the door.
Penny laughed while Maverick muttered curses under his breath. I shut the door behind me and looked up at Jake.
“Sorry, about that,” I apologized with a blush.
“You have nothing to apologize for,” he reassured me.
I grinned up at him before shaking my head. “I'll see you later then?”
“Definitely,” he nodded at me before leaning down and capturing my lips in another kiss. He pulled away after and smirked. “I had to get at least one more in before we were interrupted again.”
I sighed in frustration. “You sure you don't want to change your opinion on coming back upstairs,” I whined out.
“Trust me, sweetheart, I would love nothing more, but like I said, you deserve better than that,” he told me with a smirk.
I rolled my eyes and pouted at him, causing him to chuckle. Jake leaned forward placed a kiss on my forehead and whispered a “goodnight, sweetheart” before turning around and walking towards his truck.
“You remember this as the day you turned down a popstar,” I called after him.
“I definitely will,” he called back, not turning around.
“You're going to regret this,” I called out again.
“Already am beautiful,” he called back again.
“goodnight,” I called out to him, turning to open the door.
“Hey, Presley,” Jake called out, causing me to turn back around. “I told you you would be obsessed with me,” he smirked at me as he opened the door to his truck.
“Get out of here, Hangman,” I said while laughing, rolling my eyes at him.
I turned around and opened the front door, moving inside and turning around to see Jake standing and waiting for me to close the door. I waved one last time at him, him doing the same before I closed and locked the door. I released a dreamy sigh and turned to lean back against the door. I bit my lip to contain my smile and ran my fingers over my lips as I remembered what it felt like to kiss Jake.
“So, how was it,” Penny asked me curiously, peeking her head out of the kitchen.
“It started horrible but turned into one of the best nights of my life. He was a complete gentleman-”
“Good, I didn't want to have to threaten him,” Mav spoke up as he moved into view from the kitchen.
I rolled my eyes at the man before looking back at Penny.
“Tonight was… amazing,” I told her firmly.
“Good. So, will there be a second date,” she asked me curiously.
“I think there will be many dates,” I reassured her, moving to go upstairs.
“aw, my little girl is in love,” Penny cooed, placing her head on Maverick's shoulder.
“I wouldn't say that… but I think I'm going to stick around for a little while. I might even get my own place,” I shrugged at her before running upstairs as she gasped at my words.
“Presley Joanna, do not play with me like that,” she called after me.
I giggled as I walked into my room and shut the door behind me. I leaned against it and dropped to the floor as I reminisced about my night. I took in the blanket and pillows still sitting on the floor with our trash and glasses from the night. I just shrugged it off and decided to take care of the mess in the morning. I moved to go into my ensuite bathroom but paused in my steps when I noticed something different.
A dark brown leather bomber jacket with a patch reading Hangman still resting on my desk chair.

OKAY im finally getting around to doing this . so, this is how i think the marriageables would feel to hug.
unfortunately, im breaking this into two parts, so this is part 1/2. if i can remember my alphabet, i'll write these in alphabetical order!!
BACHELORS: HERE !
first up: bachelorettes
abigail: i think she would be rather nice to hug. she's probably somewhat strong - given the fact that she practices swinging around her sword & she ventures into the mines - so you could easily feel protected when in her arms. i imagine she either buries her face in your neck (if she's shorter than you) or she rests her head on top of yours (if she's taller than you). a nice, gentle hug from abigail is a great way to help her unwind after a particularly treacherous journey to the minds. when you hug her, you will instantly be met with the smell of warm apple pie and maybe some sweetness - like a flower. it's not too overpowering, but it's enough to make you feel at ease. abigail's hugs feel like home, like safety.
emily: as the discord appointed "best hugger" of the marriageables, it's no surprise that emily would give particularly good hugs. i think she's very affectionate - even with people she just met, for example, a new farmer who moved into town. being a barmaid, she often listens to people's troubles and tries to offer them support or comfort. i imagine being hugged by emily is like being hugged by a gentle cloud. when she hugs you, know realize that everything is going to be okay. and - because she has a way with people - she often realizes you need a hug before you do, which leads to her running up to you, arms wide open. hugging emily would fill your nose with floral scents - possibly jasmine or hydrangea. i also imagine there would be a waft of alcohol, given that she works at the saloon and handles drinks all night. emily's hugs feel similar to that of a parental figure - full of comfort and warmth.
haley: i don't think haley is a big hugger, to be honest. however, she would gladly hug you if you asked. i feel like her hugs would be neutral, probably very quick. on the other hand, if she really liked you, she might hug you for a longer period of time and do that thing where you both rock side-to-side. these hugs feel like laying on the beach, feeling the warm sand surrounding your body. haley would smell like coconuts (likely a lotion or conditioner) and hibiscus, maybe a small hint of pineapple. she gives me tropical/fruity vibes.
leah: another strong woman! i think leah gives nice hugs, but she sometimes doesn't realize her own strength and accidentally crushes you. obviously, she immediately apologizes and loosens her grip (unless you like tight hugs, that is). her hugs are pretty tight, but sweet nonetheless. it feels like you're being wrapped into the world's best weighted blanket and you don't know if you ever want to leave. leah gives off the scent of fresh pine, maybe some sort flower or forage, and a light dusting of dirt. none of it's overpowering, but she has a distinct smell of earth, of nature. it's calming. leah's hugs feel like sprawling out in a grassy meadow and watching the clouds as you lay on your back and feel the sun gently caress your face.
maru: oh, maru gives amazing hugs. the kind of hugs you find yourself melting into, like a nice pudding. her hugs are ones where you get them once, the feeling lingers on your body forever and you have a longing to receive another one. hugging maru would smell like vanilla, a nice tea, maybe the smallest hint of metal. her hugs are everlasting and follow you around like a shadow. she would absolutely love it if you buried your face in her neck or chest and she would gently run her hands through your hair or massage your shoulders/back. (someone please get me a maru hug asap)
penny: oh my sweet penny. i feel like penny gives pretty good hugs. they're firm, motherly, but also soft. hugging penny would be like laying against a memory foam mattress and feeling it conform to your body. i personally feel like her hugs share the same warmth as a fireplace or hearth - something that signals the heart of a home. that's what penny is, truly, the heart of every home she enters. i believe hugging penny would give off the aromas of old books, of warm vanilla or butterscotch, and mint. hugging penny fills you with an otherworldly comfort and you want to wrap her in your arms and never let go.

Part 2
It's been too long since you've seen Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw and the thought of his reaction terrified you. Not knowing how he would feel about you returning to Fightertown. Once you got the letter asking you to return you knew without a doubt Bradley would be there. The two of you didn't end things well the last time you saw each other.
Telling him how you felt and his response was not at all what you thought. He suddenly became angry and upset with you. Slamming the door on the way out as you fell on the couch crying your eyes out. Everyone was worried about you after that, but nobody dared to bring his name up to you.
You've known Bradley since you guys were children. After all you were the daughter of Tom Kazansky aka 'Iceman'. Taking after him and becoming top of your class in Top Gun. Earning the call sign of 'Frostbite'. Also, becoming the only female pilot to have three confirmed air to air strike kills. Your father was a legend amongst pilots and you were becoming one now too.
After you and Bradley graduated it seemed like you two became a lot closer. Everyone could see it except for the two of you, until one day Bradley got upset you went on a date with some other guy. Seeing that side of him had you wanting him closer, and into your arms.
It confused you beyond all doubt since you two were just friends, but then it made you realize your true feelings for him. That's when you decided to confess how you felt about him, after a bottle of wine of course.
Now here you were sitting at the bar of the Hard Deck constantly looking back to seeing when he would come in. Sipping on your beer as you nervously looked around at all different kinds of colors laughing and playing pool or shooting darts.
Wondering if these were the pilots you would be training for this mission. Turning down their offer of leading this mission ever since the accident, and settling for being an instructor instead. Your father was not happy about your choice but understood why you did it. Not wanting to lead another mission where someone else dies.
"You okay hon?" Pennys sweet voice asked when she noticed you staring off into space.
"Oh yeah I'm just thinking." Snapping out of it to look at her. "Obviously too hard huh?"
"He's going to be glad to see you." She knew exactly what and who you were thinking about.
"Yeah right he'll walk through that door and see me and walk right out." Groaning at the image and feeling yourself become saddened at the thought.
"No he won't I bet you he'll see you and have that big smile on his face and give you a big Rooster hug." She smiled at you with reassurance making your lips quirk up. "He cares about you."
"Not enough to reach out to me." Shaking your head as you finished the rest of your drink.
"You could have done the same for him." Raising her eyebrows at you with that look of 'it works both ways'. "You two just need to talk."
Not saying anything you just looked at her watching as she went to go help other patrons. Trying to repeat her words in your head that he missed you just as much as you missed him. Although it would be hard for him to forget you confessing your feelings to him. You just don't let something like that be forgotten.
In the deep part of your mind you couldn't help but think he still was upset and would want nothing to do with you. Then the two of you would have to work on this mission ignoring each other, and acting like enemies.
"Y/N?" Instantly recognizing that voice making you turn around and break from your thoughts.
"Uncle Maverick." Exclaiming as you hopped off the stool to give him a hug. "It's so good to see you."
You've known Pete Mitchell ever since you were little, and he was also your Godfather. He was like family to you and whenever you couldn't go to your father you would go to him. He was proud of you when you graduated from Top Gun, reminded him of being with your father.
Of course you knew of the feud between him and Bradley, but you didn't actually know what it was about. All you know is Maverick did something so badly that he wanted nothing to do with him. Then one day Bradley called you screaming if you knew something about his papers being pulled which of course you didn't, but he didn't believe you and continued to yell at you.
It seems like Bradley will have not only one person he can't stand here.
"It's good to see you too." Pulling back so he could sit next to you waving at Penny a blush on her cheek. "How are you?"
"I'm good I'm good." Nodding your head as you looked at your hands on the bar top. It was a lie. "How about you?"
"Well I can't complain." He gave you a nudge making you playfully roll your eyes with a smile. "I'm assuming you got a letter as well."
"Yeah I did and I was asked to be the lead in it." Once he heard that his eyes went wide a huge smile on his face like a proud father.
"Well shit congratulations I'm happy of you." Clapping a hand on your back your face remained stoic.
"I turned it down." Stating to him before he could get anything else out. "I told them I wouldn't lead this mission."
"Why would you do that?" He asked too quickly and saw the look on your face before nodding. "I get it."
Only a few people knew about the accident including Pete, since your father didn't want it to be a public thing which you were kind of thankful for. Seeing as it traumatized you, and never wanting to ever relive that moment again. Not that you were trying to sweep it under the rug you just didn't want someone reminding you of that day.
All of a sudden you heard a bell ringing and both you and Maverick looked up in confusion. Penny standing there with a huge grin on her face as everyone whooped and hollered in joy. She pointed to a sign that said 'disrespect a woman or a pilot or place your phone on the bar top and you pay for a round'.
Looking down you saw Pete's phone on the bar top making your bend your head back in laughter. He just chuckled with a shake of his head as Penny was then bombarded with men and women at the bar.
"Way to go Uncle Mav." Patting him on the back as you continued to laugh. "I'll have another one Penny."
Handing you a bottle you saw a blonde haired man with thick arms in a khaki uniform that you very much recognized walk you up to the bar. His eyes looking at Pete and then shifted over to you a small smirk on his face.
"Four beers Penny please." Looking over to Pete briefly before grabbing his drinks handing them over.
"There ya go." Giving her wonderful smile the mans gaze still lingering on you.
"Thanks hon." He then looked back to Pete. "Thanks for the drinks pops." Giving a wink before he turned around walking back to the other pilots.
"I'll be right back." Hopping off the stool as you headed to the restroom glancing over at the blonde man to see his eyes on you.
The other three guys he was with all looked over to what he was looking at. You hated when people stared at you like that even if they didn't know who you were. Just wanting to keep your last name from being revealed to anybody for as long as possible.
Looking away you went into the bathroom stepping in front of the mirror placing your hands on either side of the sink. Staring at yourself asking yourself if you could really do this.
Could you handle the pressure of this mission? Could you handle being around someone that you love who doesn't feel the same? Starting to doubt yourself even more now, but reminding yourself of Penny's words.
Splashing cold water on your neck you gathered yourself quickly before heading out the door. Glancing around you noticed that name blonde haired man now standing in front of you. His eyes glanced you up and down taking in your torn jeans and white tank top.
"Hi there darlin." He said twirling a toothpick between his white teeth. "What's your name?"
Ah he clearly didn't recognize you and had no idea who you are then. Maybe you could have some fun with this.
"My names Y/N." His hand lifted up to grab yours in a shake you didn't bother to give him your last name since it would give away too much.
"The names Jake Seresin." Stating with such pride it almost made you roll your eyes. "Call sign Hangman."
"Hangman?" Repeating with a confused look on your face but he just smiled.
"You ever meet a pilot in person?" Shaking your head playing the stupid girl he probably thought you were.
"Well todays your lucky day sweetheart." He stepped closer to you this time. "I happen to be the best pilot there is."
This guy needed an ego check or something surprised his head hasn't exploded yet from thinking too highly of himself. Never the less you decided to go along with whatever game he was playing.
"Is that so?" Asking him crossing your arms over your chest his eyes glancing down briefly before smiling at you.
"Come join me and my fellow pilots." Placing his hand on your back leading you over to a group of khaki uniformed pilots playing pool.
"Guys this here is Y/N." He introduced you making everyone's eyes gaze over to you.
"Hi." Squeaking out like you were some shy little girl feeling utterly stupid.
"This is Coyote, Payback, Fanboy, Phoenix and Bob." Pointing to everyone each of them giving you a wave or smile.
These were probably all the pilots that you were going to help train on this mission. It absolutely terrified you how many lives you were potentially holding in your hands. A part of you feeling bad for not voicing who you actually were, but you didn't want the looks and questions who knew they would ask.
"Still bothering innocent women I see?" The girl Phoenix spoke up making everyone laugh.
"Couldn't help myself Phoenix." Pulling you closer to him making you a little bit uncomfortable. "She's a beautiful woman."
"Which doesn't make sense as to how you got her?" Fanboy joined in everyone nodding their heads in agreement.
"Yeah she doesn't know who you really are." Phoenix responded as she looked at you.
"Judging by the call sign I think I know everything I need to." Your voice ringing out making the others look at you with wide grins and laughter.
"Ouch darlin you hurt me." Placing a hand over his heart acting fake wounded.
"Besides I only go for real talented pilots." Your words had everyone's mouth wide open hollering.
Typically you were as tough as nails and always spoke your mind. In order to keep up this charade of being a normal person you kept your real personality down a few notches. Just wait until the next morning when they would see you, and you just couldn't wait for their reactions.
"I like her." Phoenix said and everyone nodded in agreement making you smile.
"Are you a pilot or?" Coyote asked once everyone quieted down.
Before you could respond your gaze wondered over to the front door watching as a couple people walked in. The person in front who you immediately recognized as Bradley. Wearing an old Hawaiian shirt with a white tank and faded blue jeans. A pair of aviators shielding you from his eyes.
He was a lot bigger the last time you saw him, and certainly looked better looking than the last time. Feeling yourself starting to drool as you looked him feeling like a creep for just staring at him. Thankfully he didn't even see you otherwise you would have been incredible embarrassed.
Something that was definitely different about him was the mustache he was rockin. He definitely didn't have that the last time you saw him, and you gotta admit he looked really good wearing it. He looked just like his dad which made you smile at the thought.
The butterflies in your stomach had you feel lightheaded and flustered. Your full attention was on him watching as he greeted a couple people before his gaze turned over to your group. Feeling your nerves get the better of you you tried shielding yourself from his view.
Not wanting to be seen as you saw him walking towards your group. He still hadn't seen you yet which you were thankful for. Maybe you could sneak away without being seen, and you could avoid the awkward conversation.
Shielding your face by Jake's side when he was literally just a few feet from you talking to the other pilots. Hearing his voice had your heart fluttering and you wanted nothing more than to say something and run into his arms.
"Bradshaw." Hangman greeted with a smirk making Bradley look over in your direction. "As I live in breathe."
"Hangman." He responded back with slight tone animosity making it known the two didn't exactly like each other. "You look... good."
"Oh I'm good I'm very good." His cocky tone was really starting to get to you feeling an arm wrap around your waist.
Quickly glancing your eyes over without moving your head watching him as he leaned against a pole placing his hands in front of him.
"Thought they wanted the best of the best." Bradley shot back at him making you smile into Jake's arm.
The pair just stared at each other like there was a silent war going on between them. The group looked between the two waiting for someone to speak first. Things were becoming too much for you and you just wanted to get out of there. Until you felt someone staring at you.
"Whose your victim tonight?" His words had your stomach drop feeling dread take over your body.
"This gorgeous girl is Y/N." Holding you to his side like you were some sort of prize. "She's never met a pilot in real life."
Keeping your face hidden hoping he wouldn't recognize you or act like he didn't know who you were. Glancing over you made immediate eye contact with him and you watched his lip twitch instantly recognizing you. His eyes looking to Hangman's arm around your waist making his hand ball into a fist.
You were still just as beautiful since he saw you last. Beating himself up for how he left things with you, and not telling you how he felt. Once he was told his papers were pulled he accused you of knowing and not saying anything to stop it to which he felt betrayed.
"Really?" He asked not taking his eyes off you his jaw clenching for multiple reasons.
"Figured if she were to meet a pilot it should be the best there is." He said cockily making your roll your eyes this time.
"But you aren't the best pilot." Bradley responded back making you and others chuckle. "She is."
Your eyes went wide not knowing who he was talking about maybe hoping he was talking about the other woman Phoenix instead. That wasn't the case though when you were completely unaware that he was pointing to you. Slowly moving your head to look at him his eyes solely on you.
He had this look on his face that would couldn't make out. Until you saw that look in his eye that told you he was about to blow your cover. Please Bradley don't you mouthed to him, and he just smirked.
"Yeah right and I'm Superman." Hangman joked not noticing how you were now frozen in place.
"God your such an idiot Hangman." At first you didn't know who he was talking to. "You clearly don't know who this is do you?"
Feeling everyone look over at you as you continued to stare at him shaking your head at him begging him not to tell. Judging by the look on his face you knew what he was about to do to you.
Your breathing was becoming very heavy and shallow. The air in your lungs was becoming restricted and you could feel your palms sweating waiting for him to spill the beans. The glancing from you to Bradley waiting in anticipation.
"What are you talking about?" Phoenix spoke up as Jake continued to stare at him a confused look on his face.
"Who is she?" Someone else said but you didn't know who.
"Your little date over there is a pilot herself." Jake snapped his head down to look at you an angry look on your face.
"Her names Y/N Kazansky daughter of Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky." Soon as they heard your last name some of them gasped or their eyes went wide in shock. "Call sign 'Frostbite."
"Holy shit." Hearing someone say as you now felt all eyes on you, but your focus was on the man with the mustache glaring at him feeling like steam was coming off your body.
"You two know each other then?" Bob asked really speaking for the first time that night.
"Unfortunately." His words had you wincing and your heart slowly breaking at how horribly he was treating you.
Once Bradley saw your reaction he felt bad but he couldn't take them back. A part of him wanted to walk up to you and hold you and tell you he was sorry he knew it wouldn't fix everything. Even though the group was going to find out eventually you wanted it to be on your terms, and not through Bradley who did it out of spite and possibly hatred.
Before anyone else could say anything you tore yourself away from the group, and practically zoomed out of there. Feeling a tear running down your cheek Penny watching with concern making Maverick turn around to look as well.
One things for sure that you know now. Bradley Bradshaw hates you.
