[GBF] Unbound Asterism

I'm not sure where I'm going with this one. Like, some sort of a messy review, maybe?

First, how does GBF's creative team always manage to churn out topnotch, eye catching, and overall to-die-for character designs??? Saying GBF has a lot of characters is an understatement, because, well, if you're a player you'll just know what I'm talking about. The game has such massive casts. Despite that, there'll always be a new character that's unlike the previous ones.

How is it they have not run out of ideas yet, seriously.

Well, I suppose that's what makes GBF is a long-running game with loyal player base... One of the reason, at least. People enjoy playing it for different reasons. And while I do appreciate GBF's seemingly never-ending beauty of designs, nothing has made me stayed more than the story itself. Be it main story or event stories or personal stories (fate episodes), it always surprises me how engaging and believable they're written.

Case in point: Unbound Asterism

At the moment of writing this, the event has just started (August 29, 2023) but I've finished reading all available chapters. It's a sequel to Marionette Stars, a new series that tells about the Horoscopes.

My impression is... nothing. Nothing I can put into words I mean. So much things run through my head at once.

To begin with, Marionette Stars isn't a series I had included in my top 3 when I wrote a list of my favourite stories back then. This is not to say that they're not enjoyable, but GBF has so much to offer that I just picked whatever was more enjoyable than the Horoscopes series at that time. The same can be said about the characters of the series. I like Troue, Manamel, Cupitan, etc. but not on the same level as Sandalphon, Lucifer, or Belial from the Archangel series.

But with the addition of Unbound Asterism to the series... my god, I really don't know what to say. It's intense, fast-paced but perfectly-executed, intriguing, just simply what I'd describe as experiencing all emotions at once. The sheer complexity of events, characters, settings and how they interact to make an intricate plot, while at the same time being easy to follow/read, is nothing short of perfection to me. It's delivered in a way that keeps me on edge, always want for more.

By the end of Unbound Asterism, I've come to get attached to all of the casts, despite being indifferent prior. Ragazzo, Ferdinand, Lavirita... they all taught me so much on how to write a believable and villain. Tikoh, Fiorito, Feather, Randall, Kokulu, Manamel, and everyone really, I go from knowing them by name only to knowing all of their back stories now.

And Cupitan... oh god... For what purpose it is the writer team went so hard with her and Tristette's scene. This is not a complaint, just to be clear. But I... really can't believe something of such a scale occurring in a regular event rather than an anniversary. The overall delivery is as impactful, if not more, as 000 (third installment of Archangel series) or ... And You (9th anniversary event). And personally, I find Unbound Asterism way, way, way more impactful than Home Sweet Home (7th anniversary) or Created by the Stars, Loved by the Skies (8th anniversary).

Lastly, well, not so important points. I just took screenshots because it's funny (on Feather's part) and it reminds me how GBF seamlessly weave philosophical subtext every now and then into its plot without making the whole story suffocating.

I knew Sakurai voices Cloud, which is never not funny to me, man is everywhere (rip though, his own actions have greatly tainted my enjoyment of his work), but I wasnt aware Suzuken was in FF as well! Amazing. According to Google he was Zack (your cruuuuush ha ha, I am bullying you <3), so again two characters voiced by these two men who have a weird thing going on. That is objectively hilarious

Like i started playing gbf because a picture of Percival got my attention, but, i cannot stress enough, those two were almost the reason i got into granblue because a friend got into my DMs like "holy shit Icha you're never going to believe it."

See, the ending of Crisis Core has been something that like. actively changed the direction of my life? like i'm not even kidding it's that drastic. A friend dared me to play the ending of Crisis Core and that, if i cried, i would have to play the whole game, and at the time, i was very much thinking video games were a waste of time and everything bc of my mom's teachings (i was like 12 okay), so i scoffed and thought yeah alright. And i was such a mess because of the ending of CC my life changed drastically after that. (and considering how ff7 in particular changed my life and helped me through horrible times, this is pretty telling.)

The reason i'm bringing it up is that the ending of CC is "Zack dies trying to protect Cloud, who at this point is in a coma, and Cloud manages to crawl to Zack's body to hear his last words, while still lethargic, and Zack just manages to tell Cloud by the end that Cloud has to keep living and be his living legacy (especially to counter the fact Cloud tends to have suicidal idealization esp in the result of his grief later on)". (all of that with the knowledge Cloud is going to forget all about it bc trauma).

And it ruined my life. it genuinely ruined my life. I ended up becoming obsessed with this concept of "becoming the legacy of the person you loved, who died to protect you". "living legacy" was part of my url in the way back.

And i mention it, but, i have a Zack/Cloud playlist and one of the song in it that kills me the most is called Saturn by Sleeping At Last. It's relevant.

AND SO.

MY FRIEND. MY BESTIE. SWEETHEART OF MY LIFE. (who also followed me because she loved the way i talked about Cloud at the time. despite the fact she didn't know anything about ff7 back then she just loved my enthusiasm. She's still my bestie to this day).

Just one day hit me up like "Icha..... do you know that in Granblue there's a ship that fits Saturn by Sleeping at Last too? Literally a Living Legacy ship???"

I legit had my friend SUMMARIZE ALL OF WMTSB TO ME. in early 2019 before i even considered getting into gbf (i made an account in August and started playing in November of that year.)

and a few weeks later suddenly she hits me with "WAIT I DIDNT TELL YOU THEY'RE VOICED BY SAKURAI AND SUZUKEN"

And i was there. my life ruined. never fucking recovering

I try my best to especially the early ones, I want to give everyone a nice and personalized response though I admit I feel awkward responding to stuff late so usually I don't 😭 but I treasure every single response nonetheless

belifaa gbf....... they're everything. I keep coming back to them, fugio as well they're so interesting so compelling. and since zosan is very much the yellow green coloured glasses I'm wearing rn I can't not mention them, but you have to know I'm mentioning them because I'm obsessed rn

8. What are your writing strengths?

I can come up with so many ideas!! I love to brainstorm, I love to analyse and consider various different outcomes. I love to play with titles and parallels, I think i can precisely tell what i don't like about my own writing so I have an easier time finding my own mistakes later

9. What are your writing weaknesses?

having many ideas is a double edged sword (I drown in wips at all times), since english isn't my first language i heavily rely on the help of online tools and my friends who beta read for me or need to explain grammar or phrases to me 😭 it also really limits my vocab sometimes. and then there's the problem of self discipline and how self critical I can be - it takes me forever to decide what I want in my fic or not, I go over it so many times I get sick of them

I wrote for myself when I was a kid. That was before blogspot where I started out and the fandoms I was in at 13 are way too embarrassing to share (not bad. just mortifyingly embarrassing)

🍄: I’ve been regressing since early High School, so probably from age 13-14; or at least that’s when I noticed it! I had a friend when I was 11 who I was very attached to because he was the only one my age who still wanted to play pretend, so it’s possible I was regressing before then, or maybe I just liked to play pretend! Who knows!

🍒: I first found out about age regression through Pinterest! It was very minimal information, and I didn’t find out there was a community surrounding it until about a year ago now.

🍓: my gbf has offered to be my caregiver, but honestly I don’t think she “gets” it. Also, I’m very sensitive to her emotional shifts, which usually has me in a mood of wanting to take care of her. I’d rather have a caregiver who I’m only platonically involved with in all honesty. And as it stands, I don’t think I could be somebody else’s CG; I’d love to have play dates with other littles though!

🔥: I have far too many stuffies to introduce here hehe. But my oldest and most cherished one is named Isabella! More on her later.

🎃: I think I may have answered this elsewhere, but I have a paci (with a clip), a little journal, a (Not very good) sippy cup, a Bluey tshirt, and a chew toy (for petre!)

🥕: my bgf knows about my regression, as well as the people on one discord server I’m on that happens to have a lot of age regressors (one of my IRL friends is on that server!). Other than that, my ex gf and ex-metamor know, as well as a mutual friend I share with them who’s also an age regressor. It’s something I’d like to be more open about tbh, but my ex and especially ex-meta left me feeling very scared to do so. 😖

👑: I prefer to be outside, especially when it’s snowing out or dark enough I can go on a playground without being bothered! Sometimes I’ll go on them during school hours too if there’s no toddlers around, but usually I’m too nervous to use anything but the swings if nobody’s with me.

⭐️: I haven’t tested enough to know what I’d prefer! Optimally I’d like both sippies and bottles. But I get the feeling I’d chew the shit out of a baby bottle nip, so sippies are probably safer.

🍯: I haven’t tried a good teether either, but I’m getting a second paci (an adult one instead of a baby one) so I guess I’m obligated to say binkies are my fave! But that’s just cuz I wanna buy the teether in person, and haven’t found the one I want (I want a gel one!). I guess you could maybe count my chew toy as a teether? It’s very rough for a baby though!

🐍: my favourite show while regressed is Bluey! But I love lots of cartoons, and am hoping to start The Little Prince and Wild Kratts soon!

🌵: my favourite regression food is cookies!!! And anything sweet. And e especially chocolate milk/strawberry milk/hot cocoa!!!!!!

🍏: hmm, I haven’t thought much about a regression aesthetic. I guess it would be the aesthetic of a tree climber!! Lots of greens, overalls, scraped and bruised legs, and mud everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!

💎: it’s hard to pick favourite Disney characters because I always forget who’s Disney or not! But I guess I’d have to say Eclipsa (Star Vs The Forces of Evil), Vanellope (Wreck it Ralph), and Merida (Brave)!

🌀: woah, I’ve never had to think of the powers I’d want somebody else to have before! I think transmutation! (Is that the word? The ability to transform objects into new objects!)

If I have spare money, I might even go on a dollar store shopping spree! I used to also smoke weed to help me get into littlespace, but not so much lately.

🖤: I haven’t tried animal crossing yet! I really wanna get ACNH, but it’s really expensive (and out of principal I can’t justify that big of a purchase for something I can’t even share with the other profiles on the switch; maybe I’ll ask for it for a birthday). Stardew valley is definitely my fave, but it’s better for committed games, while Minecraft is better for casual gaming.

this was in response to this reblog i presume and i was too busy yesterday to get to it but i am touched!! TOUCHED!!!! THAT YOU WOULD ROLL UP AND REQUEST THAT I TELL YOU ABOUT MY OC

the oc i am currently fixating on who was also on artfight is MY GAL LAVANA, please behold her (art by motherlusa and then by rubindraws; the second (which features her friend valryn and also her many cats) is a better indicator of her body type but the first is just one of my faves)

i'm playing her in a d&d 5e campaign based in the world of granblue fantasy!!! basically all you need to understand if you don't know shit about gbf is that it takes place in a steampunk kind of world full of floating islands that people called skyfarers travel between using magical airships

so lavana is 23, a draph (a fantasy race where basically the women are shortstacks and the men are huge and beefy; such is the tragic nature of gacha games (there is a trans draph though in canon her name is ladiva and i love her so much)), 4'3", and a fortuneteller on the island of golonzo, a bustling port island with all the sky's best mechanics; if you have an airship, you're going to end up at golonzo for repairs at some point. raised by her older sister after her parents' deaths when she was young, she's got an anxiety disorder and a lot of weird little hangups regarding it. one of them is that every morning she does a tarot reading for her sister's safety—and, like, keep in mind, this is a world where Real magic exists, including Real fortunetelling magic. tarot cards are just cards. but lavana believes in them wholeheartedly!!! she took them up when she was young because she was so scared of her sister leaving and never coming back like her parents, and having a way to "predict the future" and assure herself that her sister would be okay brought her a lot of comfort

so one day she does her morning reading and predicts disaster. lavana absolutely freaks out and runs off to the docks where her sister works as a mechanic. her sister, who doesn't believe in any of lavana's nonsense to the point of being kind of annoyed but being in a place of like "this has gone too far for me to do anything about it at this point," tries to chase her out of the shop. on the way out, lavana notices a cat taking a nap in the exposed gears of a ship that's being worked on, and yoinks him out just before those gears start turning, saving his life. satisfied that this was the potential disaster she was being warned about, lavana leaves and lets the stray cat go on his way

surprise! this cat is actually an important figure in magical cat society. his name is cronus (the black cat standing on her leg), and he's the Royal Cat Archbishop, and he returns the next day to offer his thanks in the form of magic powers. now lavana can talk to cats and do a variety of little party tricks—she's a warlock now with a homebrew patron: cats. she's a nekomancer! lavana also gets to meet and befriend cronus's attendants, the other seven cats shown in the art

so a little while goes by with lavana living her life telling fortunes for a living just featuring some cats now, until cronus requests a favor of lavana that requires her to travel. only, she doesn't have an airship. around the same time, she tells a fortune for valryn, who's stopping by with his crew (he's like...the fuckin janitor and no one likes or respects him that much; he's an overeager oblivious idiot). she predicts a grand adventure in his future, and he latches onto this with such excitement; convinced herself by the cards, lavana convinces him to let her join him. great! they're friends now! but now they need a ship. what ends up happening is, with the help of one of the cats—rhea (the white cat just behind her arm)—lavana wins a ship in a game of cards with a shitty rich kid. the thing about golonzo is that it's looked over by a primal beast/minor deity, mithra, who magically ensures that all promises made on the island are kept to the letter, so when this idiot bets the ship, he can't back out. that ship is lavana's now! and so the Terranavis, manned by lavana, valryn, and eight cats with cronus as the ship's captain, sets out. along the way they acquire phanuel and aya, a minor primal beast searching the skies for his lost boyfriend, and his best friend and number one hype woman

lavana is The Mom Friend but like—the thing you need to understand is that, except for the cat who is the captain (who only lavana can talk to and understand) (and also norle, the npc quartermaster we picked up along the way), everyone on this ship is an idiot. lavana included. lavana has 8 wisdom. she is the mom friend by sheer force of anxiety. she's the only person with any self-preservation instinct and also everyone-else-preservation-instinct. she is so afraid of anything happening to anyone all the time. she also does genuinely have a fair amount of emotional intelligence! she's just also incredibly oblivious. as a rule, lavana believes in the best of people, and assumes that people have good intentions and are honest until proven otherwise

lavana is also super emotional, just in general. it does not take a lot to get her panicky or crying, especially the latter, which she has been doing a lot these past few sessions!!! but despite the fact that her general disposition is very soft and quiet and friendly and nervous, she's actually got a really strong moral core and a ferocity deep within her. she's only really shown it twice: once when a group of skyfarers that indirectly tried to kill her friends tried to get in on the treasure that her friends found, and once when an angry mob formed during a zombie apocalypse tried to sacrifice a small child to the zombies thinking it'd stop them?? and lavana just went off. got so angry and fierce and just verbally eviscerated these guys until they felt so ashamed of themselves they dispersed. she's good with words! good with people! it just takes a lot for her to reach a breaking point that she can push through her own fears and anxiety

one of the things that hurts her most is people disbelieving in her fortunetelling, because it means so much to her—her sister's doubt especially has hurt her, because even though it isn't a conversation that happens often, like, she knows. getting comments offhandedly from tourists or whatever isn't a big deal on its own but it adds up! and when people she cares about talk shit, even idly, she's really hurt by it. fortunately (heh) no one on the ship has brought anything like that up, and valryn believes in her completely; he's her ultimate hype man, he thinks she's so smart and strong and incapable of being wrong, it's so cute?? so recently when an actual prophet character (lmao) said something real rude about her cards and told everyone some very frightening prophecies, valryn was immediately like "okay well lavana's fortunes are always correct so i'm not worried about that" and so lavana was like, comforted enough that she didn't take the rude shit so personally (also they had bigger things to deal with at the time). they're besties!! i love them!!!!

in general lavana just like...she wants so badly to be helpful and she'll always work hard to do so. she's very brave but she'd never consider herself such because she's always scared, but when the chips are down she's one of the first to push through it and get shit done and take care of people

this campaign has been REALLY INTENSE lately so i've been very Head Empty Thoughts Lavana Only Hours... i love her so much; she was a character i was really uncertain of when i first created her, but i've learned a lot about her along the way and i'm really excited to see where she goes from here!!!

and like obviously we all know that rm is a shit person and he had his two favorites and basically everyone else could fuck off and his writing definitely reflected that. acting like some childish high school mean girl and punishing the actors that dared play a fan favorite character that people loved more than his favorites that he constantly pushed into the spotlight 

putting quinn through hell again and again and again, almost writing santana out of the show, putting rachel through virtually nothing and always having her come out on top, giving blaine 40 million songs to sell on itunes but next to no actual story, pretending to put kurt more in the spotlight but only as rachel’s gbf

Alchemy Stars (summer event):

120 pulls no Fleur. I has sad. Got trolled by two 6* in the same element even.  Outlook bleak. This is gacha life. Game took a look at my A3 water team and said I didn’t need him. Game doesn’t understand thirst. : ( I need him.

That said, I am here for the energy of Fleur and Brock as Those Two Guys, even more so as Those Two Guys Who Absolutely Should Not Be Left Alone Unsupervised.

Summer story’s pretty interesting, though I did get bored with a lot of the beach-life stuff as I do in every gacha that does summer events sans GBF.  I don’t particularly feel anything toward Beryl, unlike Eve; she’s very passive so we haven’t seen any of her personal thoughts or feelings about much.  Hell, half the reason I’m so salty about Fleur is cause he actually got more development than Beryl did so far, which made me like him more than just a pretty face!

Humor beats are still pretty spot on though. And at least this game really knows how to make events feel like events.

3 more days and I’ll be done with Stage 4 for Regal, THANK GOD. The dispatches are such an annoying time-gate. I have a ton of energy packs saved up so I should be able to clear out Stage 5 much more quickly. Looking forward to getting my first Eternal Silent Hunter!

I ran out of characters I feel like A3ing so now I’m just grinding to level up equipment.

I don’t know if I should get Barton (who I do not have) or Nemesis (who I need one more copy of to max breakthrough and thus have her skill set to pre-emptive) from the free ticket they give. This is one of the few times where both would technically be dick picks, but one would be useful for meta (Nemesis is one of my core Thunder units) while the other I don’t have but would like to. DECISIONS!  At least the ticket doesn’t expire. i’ll end up forgetting about it most likely

GBF (lotto drama):

Man that lotto drama whaoooo.  I’m mostly retired/seasonal in GBF these days (and my loss of reliable/fast internet in a week will just compound that due to ping/racing/refresh) so I don’t really care, but just whao.

That said, I think with this being people’s last straw shows that some people really don’t know how to give things up on their own and don’t realize it’s okay to fall out of love with something you once enjoyed or spent a lot of time/effort/money in.  I saw a lot of complaints about X or Y no longer having magic/fun etc for them any more, and they still stick around cause they keep hoping that it’ll come back, and I can tell you—it rarely ever does if you stick around.  It’s okay to move on. That sunk-cost fallacy just does harm until only bitter feelings are left.

As for me, I did come out with a T3. Picked Nehan cause I always go dick picks in gacha and I was clamoring for a Nehan unit back during SoR’s original run. Used the second one to go meta with G.Narm though since there was nothing left for me to really get, but I dislike Narmaya so she can just sit there in my inventory with all her other versions CAUSE SHE WON’T LEAVE ME ALONE I guess.

Did literally nothing else though; just no real time to play grindblue lately.

Exos Heroes (director’s notes):

Hahaha, the devs noted they were nervous about how people would react to the first Memorial Saga and I BET IT WAS DUE TO THE TWIST LOL but anyone who has used Rachel or came from Exos Saga weren’t gonna be shocked. Regardless, the translation referred to the story as from “Ramge and Rachel’s youth” and I laughed cause IT TOOK PLACE A WEEK BEFORE THE MAIN GAME’S STORY????

Hope the 2nd MS ends up actually giving rewards for side quests.

Thank god though that they are going to implement a give up section for tag battles. I no longer have to set up [my absolute most hated character in this game] as a sacrificial character any more and can set up some more proper teams.

Infinity Core is still shit but at least now they will be showing what you’ll be facing the entire week instead of day-by-day reveals. Half of the issue is playing a guessing game on what FCs you need to hoard in case their theme comes up and thus purposely limit yourself from actually achieving higher stages.  Still wish they’d just allow you to keep the stage you’re on if you already cleared it in a previous week. Why the hell do I have to redo the stage(s) every week if I already passed it? At least quick battle will be implemented to a limited degree.

Glad they acknowledged the biggest problem in the game: inability for new players to catch up.  The gap between vets and newer players never ever narrows due to all the time-gating elements this game has.  I’ve been around the block in a lot of games and the ones who have this gap never has good player retention and ends up shrinking just to a core base of cliques until the game dies. Too bad no solutions offered.

I was disappointed Blue Kaya doesn’t buff HP for support units, then remembered HP is the biggest problem in PVP so yeah, no, nevermind, good on them for realizing that. Didn’t roll for her since I went ham on the summer banners and defense scales poorly in this game due to the HP inflation.

... oh man, I got momentarily excited when I saw Saint West was getting SF3. Then remembered Rachel, while from Saint West, is the heir to Saint West’s throne, and is basically labeled as Saint West in everything else in the game, is actually the general for Lenombe. Fuck me. When will they buff him. I’m tired of facing SF3 nations and seeing my nation’s gimmick being told to pound sand cause they refuse to buff his nation even though he’s fallen way off the meta a long time ago. i think i will literally blow a fuse if greenland gets sf3 before lenombe

In non director’s notes news, I linked up Shadowbane to Lenombe. Luna and Garlond are pretty fun to use and I hope to eventually slap them onto my WR team for tag week to see how that works out, but they worked really well in Infinity Core. Glad I finally have a viable Frost unit I can use since who is Bathory? She doesn’t know me.

Dunno who I’d put in Rudley’s spot since I use him so that my Lenombe team has at least more than one chance to kill these tanky SF3 nations. Zeon is just useless now due to the prevalence of Misty and I tried out Misty and she’s okay, but she’s not the best synergy with Lenombe. I wish A.Zeon would get his FC already so I can pair him with Schmid to get the Vagabond SF bonuses... (but I’m thinking the outcry against the genderbends pushed that back RIP...)

Talking about GW/U&F Under the Cut because it’s gunna be a long ramble

S here’s my rankings (I want to save these and post them in this entry for myself, I want to better keep track of how much I do so I can keep a log of how much stupid effort I end up putting into this godda.mn event each time to see how my progress goes) Individual:

i’m like both proud and dead (ignore dark team, this was fire favored but final rally zeus is light, so kill him with dark team). i could solo nm 100 just fine, like much better than pervious events, including the last wind gw in June 2020 (which does tell me hey, you’ve improved a lot on your fire team in the past year), it’s just soloing nm 100 took like ~10 minutes and required me paying attention. by day 3 burn out was real (despite there being no 24 hours interlude this year because of server issues delaying prelims, lol let me tell you when i went to check the prelims on my break to find out oops sorry we’re delaying prelims a day bc ppl had issues last night when we started at 3 am your time, rip). nm 95, you see, that i could make a full auto team for and just summon the devil and skill cast a couple of the skills click attack and then full auto, and ignore the game for like 4 to 4:40 minutes. so while i did do some nm 100 runs, i mostly defaulted to nm 95 (on another note i could 1 turn nm 90 with my break/od team bandit tycoon/5* tien/summer bea/5* zeta and so during prelims and round 1 that felt really good). on the one hand it hurts that i ignore my main fire set ups for favor a full auto team (rb/sieg/heles/izmir) but like how else do i survive doing that many godda.mn raids without total burn out (and i mean the only difference is playing relic buster instead of lumberjack so no using my prized ullikummi and swapping tien out for heles bc tien is less full auto friendly bc you don’t want her buff skill activating before her damage. also i mean it was nice to let heles get exp so i got her to lv 100 during the event bc i’d leveled her to 95 prior. she has some good damage nukes, and her additional atk/def down stackable meant coverage when sieg or izmir’s didn’t land properly). besides i still got to use my main fire set up and ullikummi when i did the nm 100 runs (look i love my fire ullikummi + lumberjack i will never shut up about how good it is and how happy i was i went through with it originally for a harp memeing only to discover WOW ITS JUST REALLY GOOD FOR MAINHAND PERIOD EVEN WITHOUT HARP MEMEING GRID). sure running nm 95 was. technically not optimal in terms of time/meat/tokens/honors but it was fckin optimal for my SANITY.

crew (day 4 at top - day 1 at bottom):

first of all slkdfsjk can’t believe i actually stayed above top 30,000. WOW THAT IS DEFINITELY A FIRST. third slkdjgsldf 3 of 4 won, one day i’ll get 4 of 4. tbh surprised i managed to win the last one (THE ONE AT THE TOP) (i was... i was raiding from 3 pm - 4:40 am it was bad... i wanted to hit the 400mil individual mark for the reward bc i was close and like it would suck if i was only a little bit away)... it did feel good to actually win some though, i haven’t had victories in a while because despite the fact every gw i was definitely getting more honors than i had the previous one it was getting harder to solo shit when i’m against crews with multiple ppl participating. (HELL LAST GW, THE WATER BOSSES, WAS THE FIRST TIME I ACTUALLY MANAGED TO GET BACK INTO FCKING MAKING THE SOLO C TIER AFTER SEVERAL GW WHERE IT DIDN’T HAPPEN BECAUSE THERE WAS A BIG LEAP IN HOW MANY HONORS THAT 36,000 CREW HAD AT THE BOTTOM. also like lol at work so i can’t really start doing prelims until i get home bc i decided i wanted sleep in the morning)

:) oh boy a single sunlightstone shard that’s going to sit there forever and never do anything bc how the fck am i ever going to do this 10 times. draw box fcking 50 is what i’m on. it takes 10k to empty. i would need 8k more tokens. i would get 100 tokens per extra zeus run.... im not doing 80 more zeus runs... i’ll .... just have to hit “toke draw 100 times” 21 times to use the rest of the tokens which is annoying. i guess. AND NOW WE COME TO THE REASON WHY I PUT SO MUCH GODDAMN EFFORT INTO THIS GW. gbf is a bastard man that wants me to 5* the rest of the eternals (5 of them) before i can transcend shisu to 140 ( ´•̥̥̥ω•̥̥̥` ) i hate it. so in order to get enough rev weapons to work on my next 5* i needed to 36 box for fif (i have 1 fully uncapped copy of her rev from when i was initially going to have to recruit her normally but then seeds of redemption happened in 2020 and i got her free + 50 five-star fragments, since i already had a fully uncapped copy i thought fine she’ll go next bc less weapons needed and also i have one of every other element 5* so i wanted to do her or song either way. plus maybe if i can 5* her i can actually go do that gilbert quest lol). i WOULD HAVE LOVED TO BOXED NW QUARTZ. I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE BOXED NW QUARTZ AFTER I 36 BOXED HER. BUT I KNEW IF I DID THAT, I WAS PROBABLY GOING TO INEVITABLE HIT BOX 46 BC OF THE RATE I WAS GOING AND IT WOULD FORCE ME BACK TO REV STAFFS AND I’D END UP WITH EXTRA COPIES WHEN I COULD HAVE BEEN STARTING THE NEXT SET I NEED. so instead of boxing the quartz i wanted after i switch to harps and IT sUCK. also depending on if i get the harp draw from the 2000 token i have left... i might continue zeus farm until i get it bc then at least i’ll have an even uncap on my harps (4 fully uncapped, bc i actually had a 1* harp in stash already.... bc those were FROM RANDOM DROPS I’D GOTTEN FROM GW IN THE PAST)

uhg anyways... this was like one of the first times in like a very long time that i didn’t fully burn out by day 3/4. i pushed through to the end like a godda.mn maniac. even in my early days i often just went lol im done on day 4... last gw i thought i was insane bc i got like ~158mil total honors (and EARTH IS LIKE ARGUABLY MY LEAST DEVELOPED). and this time i got over 400mil :) next one is going to be hell because my wind has be improved to 100% double tia crit and i have a my developed full auto team. oh fcking boy.

I saw twitter share opinions about the anniversary events. To tell you the truth, every anniversary event means a lot to me in different ways. I don't think I can rank them with letters and feel like I've properly conveyed the impact each one has had on me. As easy as it is to rank things by how much we like them, I find it more enjoyable to appreciate each anniversary event for different reasons. Of course, there's no harm in having fun ranking things for the hell of it. Maybe I tend to take things *too* seriously. I kept seeing Seeds of Redemption placed at the lowest tier but for me it's one of the very first anniversary events I got to experience on its first run so it's special to me and means a lot to me emotionally and sentimentally than the other anniversary events. Sincerely, I don't think I would have continued gbf without that event. What letter do I assign that kind of emotion or memory to? What rank does that fit under? It seems arbitrary to me. Anyway, the conclusion to this is that I love every gbf anniversary event for different reasons. Maybe I'm still in the honeymoon phase with the game despite how many years have passed. This is such a long ask, and thank you for reading this.

the "i opened twitter to see people bash seeds of redemption this morning again" thing was literally bc this trend of ranking the anni events was shoved on my TL, and seeing how many people bashes on seeds of redemption breaks my heart.

I understand everyone's tastes are different but it's *sighs* to have to see people talk in simple tweets about how it was the worst event like this when i personally had so many thoughts and feelings i could never fit into a tweet yaknow?

And just like you, Seeds of Redemption was the first anni event i played live when it came out, and i had been playing gbf for only a few months when it happened. tbh it was also my first run in with the eternals, so it really left an impact on me when it happened.

and i feel you so much on how this memory cannot be just summarized with a letter.

as an analyst, i do see that there's some flaws to that event. but the emotional core was genuine and it made me fall in love with the game all over again. Like, i wouldn't have worked so hard to recruit the Eternals if this event hadn't made me so in love with them to start with.

(which was another moment of despair seeing people say the events mischaracterized them, like, i saw people complain about how it made Siete too manipulative and too much of a dick. And then i played his recruitement quest and he was exactly like that so i was just wtf you guys are talking about.)

I agree also that ranking is so arbitrary. There's so many factors to take into account and our own emotions will also be influenced by where we were in our personal journeys, as people and as players of granblue. And just like you, i've loved all the anni event so far, so it's such a shame to see this type of things so often.

and i'm just so sad because it's been what, 4 years now? that it keeps coming back to dunking on this anni event and it is so. so exhausting to me.

I don't like seeking out the fandom's opinions on things most of the time, and i do like to think about the positive i'm getting out of those experiences, so to see those reactions always bums me out a little;

But i'm glad we felt the same way on that regard.
