uhh hello!! sorry if this is a tall order LOL but I wanna ask, do you have any narilamb fanfic recs? :D I already read yours and I really like bamsara’s and I’m waiting for epicaandk’s to update (that one is my fav ever <3) but idk what to read now lol
Tall order?? Naaaaah, I'm always happy to give recs. Oh boy, I'm gonna go in reverse chronological order.
If you've read all of my narilamb fics (have you seriously? I'm impressed, that's probably well over half the 150k+ I've written for this damn fandom. Also, to anyone seeing this from a reblog, my stuff is over at onethirdofimpossible!) then here we go!
You already mentioned it, but The Rehabilitation of Death is excellent so far! This one is by @bamsara who is new to the CotL fandom but apparently not new to fanfic writing; they have a really popular FNAF fic and I assume the well-deserved attention this fic's been getting is a byproduct of the popularity they've already gotten in other fandoms. :D Welcome, bamsara! Many of the fic writers in this fandom are friends with each other already, but we don't bite if you wanna say hi.
Feel No Evil and Language Barrier, both by @payasita. I always love how payasita portrays this duo (in both digital art and writing), with so much sass and repressed loneliness, knowing they're stuck together for eternity and making the best of it. (And maybe falling in love, depending on how dense Narinder keeps being.) What makes these come alive for me is how well thought out the setting is outside the Lamb and Narinder. The descriptions and weight of emotions really pop here.
LITERALLY ANYTHING written by pavi / @i-eat-deodorant. Depending on how spicy you want your fics to be he has even more here. Character analysis, diction, pacing, etc. are consistently 10/10. Top-quality banter between a sassy Lamb and tired old man Narinder. We constantly bounce ideas off each other and inspire each other a lot but I promise I'm not hyping him up just because he's my friend oh my god please just go bless your eyes.
It Was For You, O Death by blueberry-muffin-massacre (if they have a tumblr, let me know so I can tag!). An intriguing alternative ending to the final battle wherein the Lamb chooses a secret third option by refusing to give up the Red Crown and still observing Narinder as the God of Death. So many details are so well thought out and duality their relationship is nicely characterized-- both genuine care for each other and also quite unhealthy. A fine line treaded well!
Confessional by jusmove (again, lmk if they have a tumblr). Been a while since I've read it, but I love how the Lamb chips at Narinder's very carefully built emotional walls. Their personalities are very well fleshed out here, especially Narinder's cognitive dissonance at being able to process love.
Confession by @thewitchoftheweed. I didn't expect a part two to this one, but my god I was so thrilled when it did update. Narinder and Lamb with their unique and parallel loneliness and their fucked-up sense of everything. Their relationship is very rocky here, and I love how they navigate it: with tension and eventual, pained acceptance. Mind the rating.
Of Character Development and Being Dense by @calliecature. A short and sweet narilamb classic. They're both mutually pining and one of them is too emotionally repressed to realize it. Guess who.
Not An Offering, But a Gift by @checkplzjuliet. Small confession fic. I especially love how Narinder's descriptions twist the knife of his situation here, and how Lambert is a total foil for him! There are a lot of good things happening in such a short span, which is impressive.
Also, if you think you've read all my narilamb fics... I do have a secret one out there too. Just so you know.
Happy reading!
I'm already friends with many of the people here, but if any of the writers I've tagged have been kinda wanting to reach out for a while but feel a little anxious... Don't be. I've made my best friends in this fandom by literally just waiting for some of my readers to get over whatever assumption they have that I'm cool and say hi. Or being the more confident one first.

Anime recs for The Radiant Emperor enjoyers
I was watching the new Ooku anime on Netflix some weeks ago and I thought it hit that ”court drama dealing with gender roles and making me cry” spot that He Who Drowned the World has been occupying in my heart lately (even if it engages with some of these themes very differently).
Somehow that got me thinking about other anime that might align with the vibes and themes in The Radiant Emperor book series and eventually came up with this list.
Some of those themes include gender roles, queerness, disability, politics, oppression, rebellion, revenge, impossible and messy relationships and tragedy. Darker themes like war, violence, sexual assault etc are also often present. Please lmk if you agree or disagree with these choices and feel free to add more!
Tumblr media
Dororo (2019)
Historical fantasy based on Osamu Tezuka’s manga classic from the 1960s.
An orphan who hides her gender in order to survive meets a young man who fights demons to claim back his body parts that his father traded away in a demonic pact. There’s tons of pain and tough moral questions and complicated family relationships, and the way Hyakkimaru deals with having lost and then slowly regaining parts of himself is super interesting.
24 episodes. Stream on Prime Video, Hidive
Tumblr media
The Heike Story (2022)
Retelling of the historical epic Heike monogatari through the eyes of an orphan girl who gains the ability to see supernatural things after her father’s passing. Inevitability of fate, the impermanence of all existence, praying for your loved ones’ happiness in the next life, all of these things are beautifully woven in this visually stunning story. The story also hits different when you know that Heike monogatari was traditionally performed by blind musicians and singers.
11 episodes. Stream on Cruncyroll, Apple TV
Tumblr media
Inu-oh (2022)
Historical fantasy. Two outcasts find each other and change the history with their music in this story that also pays respect to the Heike monogatari’s origin as a singing tradition. Focus on things like identity, disability, nonconformity, ghosts. Yes, the ghosts part is important. Also, the gender expressions and the bond between the two main characters is something I’ve seen a lot of queer/trans ppl relate to and Inu-oh is voiced by none other than the trans icon Avu-chan.
Movie. Stream on Hulu
Tumblr media
Ōoku: The Inner Chambers (2023)
Alternate history where most men in Japan have been wiped out by a mysterious disease. Very much a court drama centered in the Tokugawa shogun’s residence where men serve the woman shogun as concubines (and sometimes have relationships with each other). Also, one of the main characters is a monk who ends up giving up his vows! Based on Fumi Yoshinaga’s acclaimed manga that has also been adapted to various live action movies and drama series.
10 episodes. Stream on Netflix
Tumblr media
Toward the Terra (2007)
Scifi classic with two main characters who are at the opposing sides but feel inexplicably connected. There’s just so many insane relationships and emotions here, I still have not recovered from the ”I want to kill you but I will also protect you with my own life” thing…… Based on the 1970s manga by Keiko Takemiya. Not to be confused with the movie from 1980.
24 episodes. Available on DVD
Tumblr media
Devilman Crybaby (2018)
Apocalyptic fantasy with demons and stuff. Based on the classic 1970s manga by Go Nagai.
I don’t even know how to describe the story, it’s just the tragedy, the queer yearning, the ”I killed the one I loved and then it was too late”, the ”things will get bad and then they will get worse” vibe that I think is very fitting. This one has the most extreme violent and sexual content out of the series on this list.
10 episodes. Stream on Netflix
Tumblr media
Banana Fish (2018)
Gang wars, mystery drugs and complicated emotions set in New York. Based on the iconic 1980s manga by Akemi Yoshida. Deals heavily with trauma and CSA.
You guessed right, this one is also a tragedy. If you love Ouyang and/or Baoxiang, you’re probably going to love Lee Yut-Lung. That’s all I’m going to say.
24 episodes. Stream on Amazon Prime

okay so i'm not british (i'm just a teenage girl hungry for knowledge 😔✊) but i watched one video and as a result i've been consuming an insane amount of new labour media for the past week even though i've never been interested in uk politics besides keeping up with global news LMAO i genuinely wanna know more so where do you think i should start with books films etc 😭
hiii!! excellent question id be more than happy to help! this will be sort of an overview with general recs for newlab beginners (why am I treating this like its a profession omg) so just lmk if you want more specific recs + I've highlighted my favs
books (from the outside)
(by from the outside I mean written by people not directly involved in newlab, so historians/journalists etc)
the two classic newlab texts are servants of the people and the end of the party, both by andrew rawnsley from the observer. provide nice, extensive but not overly fussy histories of newlab from opposition to 2010. good balance of gossip and actual information!
my personal favourite is rivals by james naughtie (bbc reporter), I find the prose in it far more compelling than any other book on this list.
brown's britain (robert peston) is also very good!
you've mentioned that you're not from the UK, so I really really really would recommend reading a book/a few articles on the broader history of the British Labour Party, just so you can understand why newlab was so revolutionary. I quite like keeping the red flag flying
autobiographies/diaries/books from ppl directly involved:
(these will inevitably be more biased)
the new machiavelli by jonathan powell is my absolute favourite self-written newlab book - and you might learn some stuff ant machiavelli whilst ur at it so this is an essential imo
my life our times by gordon brown is another one I really enjoyed, although it's less gossipy than some of the other books on this list. admittedly I do agree with basically everything gordon brown has ever said so this is a very biased review, but I would give it a go!
obviously alastair campbell wrote a load of diaries. I would be careful with which volumes you choose to get - go for the ones published 2010 and onwards bc he made the choice to omit stuff from the first few volumes he published so that it wouldn't' hurt gordon's premiership. also, they're really long and really extensive, so pick which volumes you want to read based on which specific period of newlab you find yourself drawn to!
as a comms/polling fan (boo) I really liked unfinished revolution by philip gould, but this might not be the best book to start with.
damian mcbride's power trip (more diaries) is also interesting
big fan of point of departure by robin cook asw!
I found tony's books excruciating to read but that's bc im crazy and think I know the inside of his mind like its my own so they might be good for you. his new book is FASCINATING but only in the sense of it exposing how big his messiah complex is. don't read any of his books if you're not down to hear about sex and/or technology.
oh a note: mandelson has written books but I don't like him so im not going to recommend them <3
tv/film
tony and gordon aren't really all that into big heartfelt chats about newlab, esp not together, but a few good docs have been made
blair and brown: the new labour revolution (bbc, 2021) - this is a classic, it's where I got my newlab start as a tender sixteen year old politics student u can't beat it! watch this one first
the blair years (bbc 2007)
out of the shadows and we are the treasury (here and here)
blair's thousand days (1 2)
if you're into tbgb, please please please watch the deal. I don't like much of the michael sheen as blair content, but the deal (2003) is so good.
if you want me to rec bits of tv from the newlab years that I think r cool and worth watching then send another ask and ill tell u! but obv theyre not much use if you're just getting into newlab :)
alastair did interviews with tony and ed miliband 6/7 years ago. not all about newlab, but very interesting to watch and observe the dynamics!
podcasts
matt forde of the political party has done interviews with a lot of newlab figures, from tony all the way to the more junior spads. I especially like the joint one he did with ed balls and alastair campbell, and the first tony one. these r less good for actually learning facts about newlab but really like listening to them as a way to sort of get into these ppls heads and observe them in a more casual setting. also a gordon interview asw !
if you can bear listening to george osborne talk (I can but others r more sensible) then political currency is also a good place to get lil tidbits of newlab gossip, bc ed balls is one of the hosts and he's super messy he loves chatting abt gordon.
ideology/boring stuff etc!
ok u can ignore this section if you want but these r some books about the ideology that underpinned newlab - I think it's fascinating!
the third way by giddens (literally the newlab bible and I think the only theory that blair took seriously)
crosland’s the future of socialism!! influenced gb and caused so much internal labour drama so evidently its excellent
if you want a really interesting essay on Iraq I recommend this
podcast on centrism that touches a lot on clinton/newlab/blair etc
oh and just for fun!!!!! here's a playlist of all the songs written canonically actually irl about tony blair.
lmk if you want any other recs!!!!!

HEY LINDS this is my Official Attempt to sway you towards perciver i hope you like it and that it doesnt turn you off them forever, now first off!
general relationship potential:
percy and oliver are in the same year and as far as we know they are the only boys in gryffindor in their year which makes them not only roommates but also the only boys in their room. for seven years.
percy is incredibly misunderstood by his whole family pretty much always, they all avoid him or are rude to him or just misunderstand him completely. with oliver's proximity its very likely hes the first person ever in percys life to properly observe him and understand him!!!
percy is the most career driven singleminded ambitious motherfucker in gryffindor.... second only to oliver!!! who is the most quidditch obsessed bitch on this planet and arguably has more solid career goals of anyone in that entire series. they are hyperfocused! they are girlbossing! they are not getting a wink of sleep bc they both get so lost in their work they forget what time is!
classic jock/nerd combo except oliver is a jock who is secretly a nerd (think of all the quidditch stats!!) and percy is a nerd who is secretly a jock (percy is a master spellcaster and nobody can convince me otherwise, that man fought multiple death eaters on his own at the battle of hogwarts and you do not get that kind of skill from just sitting behind a desk)
idk theres honestly a lot of directions one could take them but theyve just got so much chemistry and so much in common but also different and theyve got so much potential
(in my head they are the definition of autism/adhd solidarity but i know that not everyone hcs them that way which is cool too)
now for fic recs!!!
Twenty-nine - 85k - Endrina
percy weasley-centric fic that is honestly one of the most creative interpretations of him ive ever read, it goes deep into his past and his canonic decisions and stuff but theres a twist to it that is just gold, also its a whodunit where oliver's been framed for murder and only percy knows hes innocent its very very good and definitely played a huge part in me falling in love w percy's character
A New Life - 89k - AnotherAuthor, myroaringtwenties
percy and oliver meet post-war and help each other get their lives moving forward again, its very well written and very sweet but mind the tags its kinda heavy at points, it doesnt shy away from how hard the war was on everyone but the community that the weasleys and the quiddich players have is very warm and i love it
At least he has great abs - 12k - Irisen
this one is a cute shorter nonmagic soulmate au where oliver is a famous footballer and percy is a politician and they end up being soulmates, its very funny and light and i just enjoy it
(also i am technically writing a perciver fic rn its called Rely On Me and the first two chapters are up on ao3 but its my first fic attempt and i havent updated it all summer bc Life so pls dont feel obligated to read it i just felt like it would be weird if i didnt mention it)
anyway! i hope you enjoyed this if nothing else and if you read these or find other perciver fics or just wanna talk about em lmk bc i am always down to talk perciver i love them with my whole heart and soul <3
josephine hello. is this from literally ten months ago? perhaps it is. but i'm here now.... you mentioned perciver earlier and it reminded me that this has been sitting in my inbox for SO LONG
alright let's get into this
• iconic of them to be alone in a dorm for seven years together that already screams soulmates
• you're so right these two get their minds set on something and they're going to get it they're going to achieve whatever they want (tbh i already think they should put that energy toward like Getting Together but i distress)
• nerd jocks! a slay tbh
• i see the autism adhd thing i get it
• i also think like yeah i agree they have a lot in common when you dig into them but from one glance it's like ? these two? really? but then you see who they are at their core and it's like oh of course how could you think anything else (i have a lot of characters and dynamics that this sorta concept applies to i get it)
also love the inclusion of fic recs which i will check out when i am back to reading <3 consider myself convinced (it did not take much you already convinced me by just sending this ask)

my early winter shopping list
a list of things i'm purchasing the start of this winter. from clothing to skincare to makeup, these are all items i've saved up for & actually need rather than fads i'll wear/use once or twice. + links for you guys
1. staple basics for my wardrobe - black boat neck long sleeve: the intimissimi ones are a dream, but here are some others i found that are a little more affordable - tezenis, h&m, & brandy melville. - straight leg low rise denim jeans: i want to leave baggy jeans in 2024). i'm currently on the hunt for good denim that will fit someone 5'3! lmk if you have any recs for me please <3 - low rise fold-over gray yoga pants: such a classic, sadly i don't own a pair, and i need one so bad. you can lounge in them in your dorm, at the dining commons, doing your laundry, any lazy day, etc,. i would love the pair from skims, but they're wayyy too expensive for me, so here are some i found on: uo, hollister, & h&m.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. skincare i know this is a lot of stuff, but please keep in mind, i'm only buying so much skincare because i've already used up/am 1-2 weeks from finishing all the skincare i do have. when i have a moisturizer or a sunscreen, i always cut them with scissors to use up all the product. this is the way i believe it should be, and i always use what i buy until it's empty. of course, if something reacts badly to your skin, throw it away! but i promote consuming products until they're totally finished, rather than buying new things all the time. it's the best use of your money and better for the environment. i purchase my asian skincare on a website called yesstyle which heavily discounts their products, so that's how i can afford it. i also use coupons i find alone. use my rewards code (not sponsored, every user has one lol) DXBYRB for % off! numbuzin: No.5 Vitamin Concentrated Serum - i struggle with hyperpigmentation from the sun, so i'm purchasing this! i heard it works well. Anua: BHA 2% Gentle Exfoliating Toner - for my closed comedones! this is more cheap than the paula's choice one, but the main purpose/ingredient seems to be the same. if this doesn't work, i might have to buy paula's choice. i have used anua's oil cleanser before (until it was finished, of course), but i didn't like it. it honestly gave me more closed comedones and sebum than clearing it. i can make a post on fungal acne and all that from oil cleansing/double cleansing, if you guys are interested! Shiseido: Prepare Silk Made Cotton Pad - i've always been a double cleansing girl, but i'm going to swap to micellar water because i can't deal with closed comedones no more and fungal acne! honestly, i detest micellar water because i feel it's not as efficient as oil cleansers when it comes to completely wiping makeup, but it'll be a journey! i never really used any good cotton pads made for makeup wiping so.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Purito SEOUL: Oat-In Calming Gel Cream - i've only got a week left (if i can stretch it that long and cut my moisturizer open lol!) of my moisturizer, this one looked good, is 100ml, and didn't have any fungal acne triggering ingredients, so i'm going to try this one! SKIN 1004: Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum - i've had this before, and it's soso good. light-weight, spf 50+, moisturzing, and leaves you with a radiant glow. i'm ordering a 2 pack to save $$! i put sunscreen on every morning. miseenscéne: Perfect Serum Original Mini - i got layers, so i curl my hair everyday so it looks somewhat good. because of heat damage, my hair has gotten coarse, so i'm going to try out this hair serum! review pics looked good and i'm getting a mini since it's cheaper for a trial run.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. makeup from yesstyle as well. rewards code: DXBYRB ! espoir - Dewlike Jello Glowrizer - i formerly used the glow recipe niacinamide dew drops, but it's soo expensive. i found this on yesstyle, and it seems like a dupe for it; they both have niacinamide in their products, serve the same purpose, and the packaging is so similar that the brand almost wants you to know it's a dupe lol. ISEHAN - Kiss Me Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara Advanced Film - my fave mascara! i've been using the same one for more than a year now... there's still product, but at this point, it seems unhealthy. i need a new one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i hope the beginning of this semester is treating you all well. i know my quarter has been surprisingly favorable. a real post with an update on my uni life will come soon later this week hopefully. i love you all, stay warm <3

this is out of nowhere but do you have some movie recs? i feel like you would have amazing movie recs
HII!! im so sorry im just seeing this now!! oh god i loveeee giving movie recs but there's so many though,, if you can tell me any specifics of what kind of movies you like i can give you better recs but here's a general one. most of these are fairly or very mainstream so you might've seen them already, if you're looking for less famous movies PLEASEEE lmk bc i have many many recs on that too
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
animation: anything miyazaki if you haven't seen his movies, really: but princess mononoke, nausicäa of the valley of the wind and castle in the sky are my personal favorites. flow is pretty recent, no dialogue, beautifully animated.
horror: the thing and scream are two of my favorite horror movies. both classics, scream is mostly a parody of horror movies. annihilation is technically a horror movie too i guess- and well, i'd first recommend you read the book, which is much, much better, but the movie, although different, is also really good and is amazing aesthetically and sound-wise (none of these are scary scary though, if you want a real scary horror film i recommend the vvitch which is soo unsettling i loved it)
comedy: if you like superhero movies please watch the suicide squad (NOT suicide squad!) which is such a stupid movie i love it. hot fuzz is a parody of cop movies and its so funny (if you like it, i'd recommend the two other movies from this trilogy, shaun of the dead which is a parody of, you guessed it, dawn of the dead but more generally zombie movies, and the world's end which is an invasion of the body snatchers but more generally alien movies parody. and well of course since we're talking about edar wright movies i have to mention scott pilgrim vs the world). mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios is hilarious, so is bottoms which i feel has/will become a staple of comedy AND queer cinema already- with a good reason. its a parody of the classic usamerican high school movie, and its so fun.
drama, drama-comedy, action: speaking of queer media: not a comedy and also technically not a movie, but san junipero is self-contained and an hour long so i'm counting it as a short movie. it's episode 4 of season 3 of black mirror and although i don't always love black mirror i can't recommend this one enough. interstellar and memento are two of my favorite nolan movies (if you like them i'd also recommend tenet although its a Lot) and asteroid city is peak wes anderson, funny, very interesting aesthetically and surprisingly touching at times. volver is a drama about womanhood and motherhood and it so unexpectedly funny too. nueve reinas is a 'heist' type movie set in buenos aires and one of my all time favorite movies. mad max fury roads and monkey man are two of my all time favorite action movies and theyre SO gorgeous and got to me so unexpectedly. la sociedad de la nieve is beautifully made and based on real events (might be a bit of a tough watch so mind the warnings) and okja is a really good movie but one i don't think i could ever watch it again it lowkey traumatized me skjsk. diarios de motocicleta is beautiful and follows che guevara's youth and travels through south america.
again these are all pretty general and mostly mainstream so let me know if you want more specific recs!!

#I haven’t read a lot of romance novels and idk if there’s a lot of trope crossover between het romance and queer romance but?#I’m so fascinated by the genre conventions and if anyone has recs for m/m stuff in this vein lmk!
@avalonauggie I hope you don't mind me responding to your tags! (Obviously) I'm very passionate about romance novels, and historicals are my favorite, so.
There IS a solid amount of trope crossover, and I think it's becoming more of a Thing as queer romance becomes more of a thing in historicals--which is happening slowly but surely. I used entirely m/f recs for this quiz (and drew from m/f scenarios) because yes, virtually all of the older "classic" historical romances that set these tropes from the 80s and 90s are het. BUT, we are seeing more and more queer historicals, and I would say (as is unfortunately an issue across the genre, not just historicals) a lot more m/m. Not shade at your request, totally valid, that's just me shading the genre lol.
I will admit--I also think it's really a more recent-ish thing for queer historicals to really get the kind of depth (and tropeyness) as m/f histricals. Because a lot of earlier books are SUPER cheery and everyone is nice and nobody has flaws, which plays into the idea of a palatable queer lead for het readers.
Blanket author recs for m/m historicals would be KJ Charles and Cat Sebastian. They both write across a wide range of tropes and genres. Cat is a little lighter, but they're both very funny.
Would in particular rec for tortured vibes:
The Queer Principles of Kit Webb by Cat Sebastian. Very funny, but also highly emotional, and both Kit and Percy are PRETTY tortured and hiding it. Percy is a dandy with a horrible father who asks Kit, a former highwayman who now runs a cafe (???) to help him pull off a heist. Kit says no, but he does agree to TEACH Percy how to heist. Kit is also demisexual and disabled, other things you don't often see in HR or romance at large. Has a lot of class commentary. I think it really has that "let me teach you a thing and we fall in love" deal you see often in historicals, as well as the interclass issue. Rich man/poor girl is turned into rich man/poor man.
The Secret Lives of Country Gentleman by KJ Charles. Gareth inherits a title and a lot of responsibilities from his father, right after he broke up with his regular anonymous hookup whose name he doesn't even know, and he's Very Annoyed. Shortly after moving to the marsh to take care of said horrible father's responsibilities, he tries to testify against a powerful smuggling family, and who's a leader in the family??? His old hookup, whose name is JOSS DOOMSDAY, and Joss basically blackmails him into silence. Which is shitty. But he feels bad about it, and adventure and angst commences. This has the very "uptight meets wild" thing that's soooo popular in HR.
The Nobleman's Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel by KJ Charles. Best read after Secret Lives. Another "oh fuck I inherited this stupid title" setup, but this time our nobleman is dealing with relatives who want to cheat him out of his inheritance, and he enlists the help of his new secretary (also a Doomsday, we love Doomsdays) to outsmart them. Both have their Damage, and some sneaking around the estate commences, which turns into banging. Engages with the "nobleman begins banging his lower class employee" deal you see in HR a lot, BUT confronts the problems with that, and makes consent a big, discussed issue.
I would also recommend, on a very NOT tortured (overall; I mean, there's some brooding) level historical carriage roadtrip romcom Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall, in which a duke botches proposing to the woman he always assumed he'd marry since childhod, she goes on the run, and the duke is forced to pursue her with her excitable, flamboyant, bombastic twin brother. Notably, the duke is a virgin (heavily implied to be demi) and the bombastic flamboyant one is a fun slutty rakish carefree flirt.
new historical romance quiz because I was bored babes
find out which heroic archetype is for you, and why he can't love

hm. here's some kl
hey folks now that we’ve all said fuck canon and fuck s8 i decided to compile a couple of my fav klance fics for some better vibes! i’m including some classics so that i can Stress how Good they will make you feel, and some which are ones i don’t think i’ve seen recced too often but they’re def good quality! without further ado here we go :) putting most of them under the cut for the sake of length
✫ just come to me once by laallomri
Lance’s smile widens. He leans forward, and the prickling in Keith’s chest gives way to butterflies, fluttering wildly in his stomach, and oh wow has Lance always had this many freckles, has he always had eyelashes that long, has he—
Lance pokes his cheek, right over the Galra mark. Keith blinks.
“I can’t believe you and your mom have matching face tattoos now,” he says, and it’s so fucking dumb, but it’s exactly the kind of dumb thing Keith has longed to hear, and before he knows what he’s doing he’s surging forward, almost knocking Lance back against Red’s paw, and throwing his arms around him.
In which Keith lives on a space whale, goes on a road trip, and (eventually) gets a boyfriend.
[i have no doubt that this is already a classic or at least will be considered one soon enough, but it was finished recently and i can personally vouch for the softness, sweetness, and quality of this fic and the WRITER!! it’s just such a great feel-good piece and wonderfully written. 10/10 made me cry out of pure joy]
✫ speak for the stars by speaks
All Lance has ever wanted is to prove his worth. So, maybe it’s fitting that the Black Lion picked him right when Lotor betrayed them and Shiro’s clone went rogue. Right when the team was at its lowest and closest to failing.
The desire for glory that Lance grew up with—that drove him to join the Garrison and pursue fighter class, that drove him into his one-sided rivalry with Keith, that drove him after Keith in the Sonoran Desert and into Blue’s cockpit and into space and into the war in the first place—it’s a relic of the past for him now. All he wants these days is to keep his friends alive and the Coalition afloat, and he tries his best, despite the pervasive fear that he isn’t the right person for this monumental task. Despite the growing certainty that Black picked the wrong guy.
This fear will be put to the ultimate test when the mess that ensnares the team after the clone disaster turns out to be a labyrinth more winding than any of them were prepared for. Because Lance might just be the only person equipped to lead them through this maze and into the light.
[this fic. THIS FIC. if you were rightfully disappointed by the way characters were treated, especially in the later seasons, then PLEASE read this. everyone is done so much justice and the writing is top notch. had scenes and lines that just... took my breath away. also the writer has some excellent other fics too, which if you haven’t already read then you def should!]
✫ hey, mom, i met a boy by mothpoem
“Sweetheart,” says Lance, his hair longer, his shoulders broader, the slope of his nose uneven now where it didn’t used to be, “you don’t know the half of it.”
[i wish i was kidding but just reading the description alone invokes so much emotion in me?? my throat closed up just typing this ohhh my god every time i reread this— probably three times already bc i don’t want to wear it out— i absolutely lose my shit. teary smiles, the works. i will never shut up about this fic or this author. please read it]
✫ colours and planes, laser guns and champagne by skelebro
Shiro invites Hunk and Lance to his roleplaying campaign, and it's all fun and games except for how Lance is constantly on the verge of fighting the team warrior in real life.
[okay this one is 2016 era and it’s also a lot shorter but i read it and was like woah! you know. felt good. felt organic :) simple and fun and sweet]
✫ eternity (was in our lips and eyes) by thespacenico
Lance feels like he’s on the cusp of a life-changing revelation.
“I told him not to tell you.”
And this time, Keith doesn’t seem to have trouble asking the unavoidable question: “Why?”
Lance looks at Keith, and everything falls into place.
A life-changing, mind-blowing, head-splitting, earth-shattering revelation.
[okay this fic did me in it’s just really God Damn Good. also while i’m on the topic the author is writing an INSANELY cute klancemas series featuring the whole squad and if you want those soft holiday feels i’d highly recommend that too]
✫ you are the moon that breaks the night by talking_bird
"He looks up then and stares the beast right in the eyes—right in Lance’s eyes. Because in all the terror and fleeing, Keith forgot that part, that somewhere, underneath all that fur and teeth is Lance. Lance."
The simple truth is that Keith Kogane is in love with his childhood best friend, Lance McClain. It's a simple truth he plans to keep locked away until the day he dies, but that was before Lance survived a grisly animal attack. Now, a month later, Keith is resolved to confess.
But the full moon has other plans for them...
[admittedly i haven’t read this one yet but i’ve already heard good things and the tags themselves are just... Hell Yeah... i’ll probs update this w/ my personal thoughts but i’m super excited!! EDIT: IT WAS V GOOD!!!]
✫ it’s you that’s haunting me by perfchan
Keith is a loner; his interactions with others tend toward clumsy or strained, but he has a persistent enthusiasm for the paranormal. Lance is a recent college grad; caught up in his day-to-day, he wouldn’t call himself unhappy, but suddenly feels that his life lacks direction. When Lance is introduced to Keith’s ghost hunting videos, his interest is piqued and he can’t help but want to tag along. Initially opposed, Keith soon finds himself warming to the company of the living.
A little tongue-in-cheek, a little cliché, and a little bit of a slow burn. A not-too-serious ghost hunting AU.
[okay i’m so bad w/ anything paranormal but this was SO good and cute pls read]
✫ the expiation expedition by intelligentairhead, obstinaterixatrix
Lance is well aware that miscommunications can result in horrific, preferably avoidable mishaps, which is why he tries to circumvent them whenever possible.
It just figures that the state of an entire planet's fragile political climate rests on him running straight into one.
[okokokok i don’t see this one on many lists but it SHOULD be it’s got fake dating! lesbian aliens! politics! it’s really good i have to reread it soon ALSO check out both the writers!!]

Hola! Do you read Young Justice fanfiction? Do you have any recommendations? I saw your post at the end where you mentioned you were writing some, and I'm new to the fandom, so I thought I would ask. Thanks Xxx!
Hi hi! Welcome !! I love fic recs so I am happy to oblige ! I mostly read general batfamily/dick grayson-centric fic but that includes some Young Justice fanfiction ! I can give you my recs, which are mostly really popular fics I'm pretty sure LMAO and then I'll probably include some that I want to read but haven't gotten to yet (so if they aren't your cup of tea pls don't @ me hhahhah).
YJ Fics I have read and love:
Watercoluor Series is a classic I feel like. It is Birdflash, but even if you are not into that you should read it. Beautifully written, still updated, and it chronicles Dick and Wally's friendship to relationship from season 1 through season 2 and then diverges from cannon from there. Can't rec enough (plus there is a Wally returns from the Speedforce storyline so heheh).
Ride Your Light Series is a classic too ugh. so good. It is a Jason Todd resurrection storyline in the YJ universe, and features a lot of Batfamily of course. It diverges from an early season 3 episode, so if you are not there, I would recommend waiting!
The Next Great Adventure is a Artemis POV fic following her grief for Wally and a speedforce arc etc. Yeah, I've got Birdflash and Spitfire on here lmao. I'm multifaceted. But I love how she is written in this fic.
YJ Fics in my Marked for Later:
Not All Kidnappings are Bad How Jason joins the Bat family in YJ. I haven't read many of these yet, mainly because the fic I am writing kind of involves how Jason joins the Batfamily in YJ and I don't want anyone else's writing to subconsciously influence mine lmao, but it looks really good !
Stages of Deterioration Another Jason Todd resurrection fic in YJ universe... can you tell what my type is LOL
I hope this is what you wanted ! Sorry if its not, I know its a lot of Batfamily. I'm trying to read good ones for other YJ characters too, so when I get to it, if you want I can circle back with more, just lmk !
Also to the other anon who asked for general DC/Batfamily fic recs, I am not ignoring you !! That one is just taking longer hahhaha. Anyways, welcome to the fandom !!!!!

hi weather!! <3 :) this is a bit umm random but are there any sweet or fresh fragrances you like? if you prefer other types and can't really recommend anything that's okay, i just tend to like those and i'm exploring and trying to figure out what kind i should get (i don't know much about perfumes.. yet)
hi kata of course!! i don't gravitate much to those scents anymore but i did used to love them so i've definitely got recs!!
i think one of the most iconic fresh floral fragrances out there is the daisy line by marc jacobs. daisy eau so fresh is my fave from the line and u might love it.. it's a very nice floral fragrance that is a bit richer than the classic but also has more of an airiness to it. it's also got a touch of musk in the base making it really nicely rounded. there's a Lot of sets out there of the daisy fam so u could prob find a sampler w the whole line if u wanted to check them out!
another nice fresh scent is lazy sunday morning from the replica line by maison martin margiela! it's lightly floral and also smells a bit like linen, one of the top notes is lily of the valley so it's a really nice light floral. tbh the whole replica line is really nice and a good place to start w fragrance imo and they have so many sampler kits and such ranging from coffret sets to just samplers so!
dior's the new look 1947 perfume is also a nice lighter floral that's also a bit sweet!
and for sweet my fave classic sweet scent is vanille by outremer- but if u want a more complex sweet scent black opium by ysl is another classic sweet scent, i'd personally call it The most classic and iconic sweet scent..
i think that those r all good places to start and such so lmk if u want more recs or anything else <33 hope this helps :) i think that starting w the more classic brands is a good place to start and then if u get more into it branching into indie perfumes after you've trained your nose a bit more!

Hello, loved your 1:44AM's Hanma Shuji, and was wondering if you could elaborate more on your favorite classic lit? I had no access to proper education on literature and always interested in seeking perspective from people who's well versed with it!
heyy <3 do you mean you'd like me to recommend you some of my favourites? i'm actually quite new to classic lit myself, and i'm just into reading and researching abt it all as a hobby, hehe — i've always enjoyed fiction where the writer projects a lot of their own emotion and experience into their writing, which is what you find in a lot of old novels.
if i find a writer's work interesting, i like to read more of their books instead of just going back to that one popular piece of theirs.
for example, almost everyone knows abt alexandre dumas's the three musketeers, and ofc there's many movies and stuff based on it. but i dont see often people talking abt one of his other books — the count of monte cristo. that's personally my fave work of his, and there's also a 2002 movie based on it. but i rarely see anyone that ISNT a huge fan talking abt it t_t
also fyodor's novel, the gambler. one of my favourite quotes of all time is from the gambler, "do you know that I shall kill you one day? i shall kill you, not because i shall cease to love you or to be jealous, i shall simply kill you because I have an impulse to devour you." you've probably seen the quote, i see it on those dark aesthetic pinterest boards a lot 😭😭 but idk if many people know where it's from.
some of my fave POPULAR books are frankenstein by mary shelley, the picture of dorian gray by oscar wilde, and OMG pride and prejudice by jane austen <3 everyone ik is all over mr. darcy but i actually fell for elizabeth LMAO.
i also really like virginia woolf's writing. i started with orlando, and then to the light house, then the waves. her writing is sapphic, at least heavily implied to be (some people dont believe so but i do KSHJKDN) so i fall back to her works a lot.
one thing that i think everyone should really know and fully understand before they start getting into classic lit though, is that there is a lot of explicit, offensive and violent content. most of these novels were written in the early 1900s and before that. there's a lot of knowledge you can gain about major historical events and life back then in general. but very often, there's a lot of disturbing themes (even if it's not directly part of the plot), not limited to homophobia, religious discrimination, misogyny and racism.
so definitely be aware of each book's contents before you start reading.
OH OH!! idk if modern day works actually count as classic lit, but i think any novel/piece that has that level of depth and timelessness to it deserves to hold the title!! so i'll recommend ocean vuong's poetry with all my heart <;3 night sky with exit wounds, and on earth we're briefly gorgeous are both popular works AND FOR GOOD REASON!! they're so so so good ocean vuong is my favourite poet ever.
AJGMFH i'm rambling now and i'm not sure if this is what you wanted me to answer with when you asked this 😭😭 but yes!! if you want more recs, or if you have a different question, then lmk <33 as i said b4 i'm also new to classic lit, but i'd love to talk to you abt it if you like ( ^u^)

anjum’s bkdk recs #5
Now circling back to (complete) nsfw (minors dni) fic recs. Remember to lmk if you read and enjoy any of these!
Tumblr media
Legend
hyperlinked title by author | word count
genre (bakudeku for top!Bakugou, bottom!Deku; dekubaku for top!Deku, bottom!Bakugou; vers for when both are present; dom! and sub! for when bdsm dynamics are present) warning(s): where relevant Summary/review
💚🧡 = fave
Recs are under the cut, organized by word count, low to high.
Tumblr media
11. Submissive and Breedable by MakeshiftDust | 0.8k
smut (dekubaku) Dkbk engage in some roleplay and it’s such a short fic, but a great look at sex being imperfect with one person doing something for their partner and it going well, even if they don’t share the kink.
12. Let Me Touch you, Make Me Feel You by osakakitty | 2.3k
fluff, smut (dekubaku) warning: unprepped anal 😂 It’s casual in the fic but GOD does it burn to read Hot, hot, hot. Bkdk have been together for years, but Deku has suddenly become a big, beefy smokeshow and Bakugou can’t STAND it. Really gorgeous prose.
13. All in a Day’s Work by Hazel_Witch | 2.5k
smut, action A classic back alley bj fic, but you know Hazel, she adds a little extra something to the fic. And to my delight, this time it was a good smidge of action, a little villain takedown that leaves the boys super googly-eyed at each other and Baku decides to take that into his own hands.
14. hope it makes you feel at home by maquina | 3.1k
(dekubaku) smut, fluff Deku takes care of Bakugou and it’s sooooo sweet.
15. Just a Little More by osakakitty | 3.1k
fluff, smut These boys are so whipped for each other, every part of each other. And so here’s some dirty face-fucking.
16. Truth Serum by osakakitty | 4.3k
smut, fluff (dekubaku) warning: takes place at U.A. Bakugou is hit by a truth quirk, which would be fine, except that he and Deku are in a secret relationship. When they’re alone, Deku decides to take advantage of the quirk ;)
17. And it’s more than enough by SpicyJam | 7.9k 💚🧡
smut, fluff, pining (dekubaku) First date, first time; it’s so, so sweet and so, so loving. Deku’s characterization is *chef’s kiss*
18. any way you want me by terimune | 13.5k
action, smut (dekubaku) warning: canon-typical injuries, minor character death Y’all know I like a romance with some action and angst to make it feel real and alive. Bkdk are on a dangerous rescue mission in the snowy mountains and it’s not going well. It gets worse but that brings the boys closer and somehow the ending is properly mushy but it feels 100% right.
19. Shades of Blue by young_crone | 22.5k 💚🧡
smut, pining (dekubaku, kinda dom!baku, sub!deku) warning: exhibitionism, foot fucking, degradation (really it’s just…baku being baku) Five words: swimmer!Baku, baseball player!Deku. He is so perfectly in character and, y'all, the prose is gorgeous. Truly special. A college AU, and one of the best.
20. Number One Nemesis by heartsinhay | 32k
smut, crack, humor, fluff (vers) warnings: power imbalance, exhibitionism There’s a soft spot in my heart for crack fanfic, and it’s the only time that I’m here for vil!Deku. Here we have giant silliness in the form of vil!Deku obsessed with pro hero Ground Zero and the amusing (consensual) sextortion that happens between them. It’s funny, okay?

is there anything u wish u had known pre-top surgery? I’m trying to schedule mine next yr and I’m worried I rushed into picking my surgeon even tho I looked at a Lot. I’ve got a list of questions to ask but curious if there’s anything you can think of! Thanks, if u get a chance to reply 🥺
firstly congrats and good luck with your top surgery, i hope the wait goes quickly!!
There were a lot of things i wasn’t expecting about top surgery - not necessarily that i wish i’d known in advance, just that i didn’t anticipate. I wrote a document of them not long after surgery which ill post soon and link back to here :) right now ill go through the main stuff i wish i had known, and any questions i had (under a cut because it got long)
Stuff I Wish I’d Known
Some of this depends on how your surgeon does things. I had 6 days before my post-op appointment w chest reveal.
That first week is tough. Ymmv, but for me it was really hard. I knew that post-op depression was a thing, i didn’t realise what it would feel like. For me it was a lot of being tired and not being able to sleep because of not being able to get comfortable (having to sleep elevated for a few days & pain), so getting more tired and bored but too fatigued to do anything in that classic frustrating cycle. Once i slept decently for the first time i felt human again (nytol is a lifesaver). It’s also tough bc ur sweaty n uncomfortable and u haven’t showered or taken off the post-op binder for a week, and with the dressings and swelling it doesn’t feel like its really happened yet? After chest reveal thats a lot easier
Sometimes moving around you’ll feel something like pull or pop and you get so so paranoid about pulling a stitch i seriously thought id pulled a stitch but its usually like the dressings adhesion or something, you don’t need to freak out. My best friend here was this uk trans fb group because i could search and find years of posts with ppl having the same problems, or ask and ppl would give advice and calm me down, so it’s good to join a community like that ready for if you inevitably get stressed about something (also good for post-op boredom)
You cant use your arms to move. Sounds obvious but like i never realised how much i reflexively rely on using arms to move sitting positions on a bed, and how you need to pay attention to override that impulse.
Peeing after anesthetic is weirdly hard. It really helps if you practise consciously releasing the specific muscles to pee beforehand
I was so hungry. I got fed sure (great food too) but i wish i had taken snacks.
Questions to ask
Im gonna list some stuff that you may already know/have on your list but it might help fill any gaps :)
When are your post-ops? Are they included in the surgery price? Mine were at 6 days (chest reveal) and 8 weeks (normally 6 weeks but my surgeon was on holiday lol) and both included in the price of surgery (which is standard for here i think). Its good to have rough timeframes in advance so you can plan around it.
Ask about revisions - are they included in the price, what is the timeframe you can get revisions for, how you would start the revision process if you need it? Hopefully you won’t need it but its important to know just in case & so you don’t need to worry about it. I think my surgeon got a bit touchy when I brought up revisions but i was just clear that if I’m getting this surgery and paying a lot of money for it i need to know this stuff in advance which as a professional he should be fine with.
Can you have a say in scar shape and/or nipple size? Usually you can, and this is often at the pre-op when they draw all over your chest before surgery. Don’t feel like you can't weigh in - this is your chest. Also even at consultation they might be able to give you an idea of what your scar/s will look like.
If you’re getting nipple grafts, ask about their graft success rate!! I was super stressed about my nipples falling off, but my surgeon said that even though stats say about 10% of nipple grafts r unsuccessful, in practise he sees a much smaller percentage than that, and even ones that do reject often grow back (lmk if u wanna know more what i mean) or can just be easily touched up with tattooing. Also if theres anything they recommend for graft success.
Does your surgeon recommend using arnica? Arnica is a homeopathic remedy for bruising, swelling, and wound healing. There’s differing views on whether it actually works, but in my case i took arnica tablets 1 week before and 2 weeks post-op and i think it really helped. They also tasted nice. Some people use arnica gel to aid healing once you can start massaging.
Where will you be for overnight recovery? Will you be on a ward or in a room? Do you have access to a TV? Do you have access to a plug socket or charging point? Do you get wifi? Chances are you’ll be bored at some point over the time you’re in there, especially if you struggle sleeping. It’s good to know whats available in advance so you can come with things to keep you entertained.
Does your surgeon use drains? You probably already know/have an idea of this bc its something a lot of ppl consider when choosing surgeons, buts its good to know if you don’t. Also, it can change - I chose my surgeon partially because he only uses overnight drains so you don’t have to deal with them in recovery. When i was there i found out he has stopped using drains altogether for smaller guys so i never actually had them (pleasant surprise).
Does your surgeon want you to wear a post-op binder? Do they supply the binder? Post-op binders r a good idea they stop swelling soo much, so even if your surgeon doesn’t recommend it i’d definitely ask if it’d be safe for you to wear one. You can't wear regular binders. If you’re sourcing your own, again trans groups r great bc they can give local recs and lots of people sell/pass on their old ones. I am happy to give anyone recs, but they’re all uk based.
How will you communicate with nurses post-op? Most people don’t live too near their top surgeon, so you’ll probably check-up remotely. I just sent nurses emails of my nips and incisions and anything i was worried about the healing of and they’d let me know if it looked okay.
If you have any conditions/disabilities/illnesses, ask if they’ve ever operated on someone with them/similar before. I have fibro + hypermobility and tbh it was reassuring to hear him talk about experiences other patients with chronic pain had had before and how they coped.
Okay sorry that was really long, but its pretty much everything i could think of question wise! I hope it helps! Let me know if there’s any other questions you have at all :)

Do you have any recommendations for small town romance books? Or found family books? Thank you!
YES. do i ever omg. a good chunk of these will be children's books if that is alright bc that's where my love for this mode of storytelling really birthed itself. well, that and the arthur tv show bc childhood me was positively enthralled by the idea of a group of friends all living within relative walking distance of each other and being able to eat ice cream at the same shop every afternoon. there was an intimacy to it that fascinated me, as silly as it sounds
the penderwicks by jeanne birdsall - this series is a loose, modern retelling of little women that mires itself in the atmosphere of comforting, lively niches and the mountainous landscapes of the american northeast. jeanne birdsall used to do around three to four years of research between writing each book and i think it lent itself so well to what she wrote bc i was pulled effortlessly into the plot each time. the sense of camaraderie between this small collective of people as you follow them across the course of many years is so endearing and it's probably the defining small town book series for me
main street by anne m. martin - most people know anne m. martin bc of the babysitters club. i know her bc of this series! it's about two girls whose parents die in an accident, so they're taken in by their grandmother. she lives in this quiet town where the sense of community is so intimate, esp bc she lives in a row house! there's about eight houses on one street all connected to each other through secret doors in their attics and the neighbors as such are very close. i love the depth of humanity martin develops in the characters, esp bc it really touches upon how each person you know is dealing with their own struggles that you may not be entirely privy to, and then there is a series long plot around the town's history that really helps to illustrate how community prospers and evolves over time
anne of green gables by l. m. montgomery - ok this is a bit of a self evident answer but nonetheless, i feel compelled to include it. this is probably the defining small town story classic, i think? the series builds itself upon anne's imagination and how that not only fleshes out green gables (and her other hometowns) in its simple beauty but also approaches the very real personas of the people she grows up with, as compared to her more romantic and idealized aspirations for herself. it's simultaneously an exploration in romance and realism through the lens of a small but growing community around anne, and montgomery's prose really makes it a magical experience. the romance is also to die for oh my god one of the best slow burns in history, nothing will ever compare to the pure drama that is anne shirley and gilbert blythe's years long love story
beartown by fredrik backman - the tone of this book is pretty drastically different from the other recommendations here but it's nonetheless one i would put forth bc it very closely analyzes the flaws in mindset that can arise from small town living as well. there's a lot of sadness and grief, but it manages to balance this fine line of critiquing narrow mindsets and resistance to change while believing in the ability of a community to come together and mature. it's just. . . very real, and i stayed up listening to it until 4am one night and couldn't stop crying bc the raw emotion of it all really touched me. the random closeness between certain members of the town really got to me, esp in the sequel novel, us against you. just be sure to check out the trigger warnings before reading
aurora county trilogy by deborah wiles - oh my god. ohhhhh my god. you would not believe the memories i have around these books. i remember listening to love, ruby lavender in the car when i was maybe ten or so and positively falling in love with this grieving ten year old girl, and her mom who writes about recipes using zucchini, and her grandmother whom she rescues chickens with. each book in this trilogy centers itself around a child dealing with the death of a loved one, and i think that is a very unique experience to read about, bc children are already dealing with enough at that age. they have to figure out how they're going to fit in, how they're going to navigate the rest of their lives without someone they love so much, and in this small town setting, how to share this grief with a bunch of people they don't want to share that grief with. the books are deeply sad and simply honest, but in a way that's very cathartic to read about at any age
because of winn dixie by kate dicamillo - it's been years and years since i read this book or rewatched the movie but here's another rec that centers itself in a child dealing with grief, albeit not grief over death, but abandonment and isolation. opal's bond with winn-dixie leads her to meet and bond with several people of the new town she moves to with her father, and those building friendships become a way for her to process her grief and move forward from it. i have very vague memories of it now but i remember enjoying how eccentric each of the characters was
beach read by emily henry - this is a much newer rec than everything else on this list but so well deserved! this made me cry my eyes out at 4am it was so crazy. january and gus are two people who knew each other in college and coincidentally meet again as neighbors in a small town, where both have travelled to try to beat their writing slumps and chug out a new book. as a way to challenge themselves, they decide to write a book within the genre that the other person excels at, and doing research along that vein allows them to learn a lot more about each other than they initially thought they did. there's a lot of grief underpinning the story, and the people in the town aren't necessarily a huge focus, but i think the quiet of the setting really allows the emotion to permeate the whole thing and drawn you in, bc sometimes you just have more room to think and dwell and reflect when you're in a quiet corner of the country
i hope these are sufficient for now, but lmk if you'd like recs within other media too! i feel like i have a good chunk of dramas and tv shows that speak to this narrative setting

do u have any anime recs?? ive only watched the popular ones like haikyuu, bnha and aot but its kinda overwhelming to look for new ones so im asking u since i know & trust that u have good taste
ooohhhhhh boyyyy im vibrating bc 1) you’re asking me for anime recs 2) yOU SAID I HAVE GOOD TASTE HDJK THANK 🥺💞
okay but being serious here ,,, i’m not sure exactly what genres you’re looking for so i’ll put a list of my favorites + other ones similar to those 3 you might enjoy :))) if you have anything specific in mind lmk !!! i recently compiled a list of everything i’ve watched / tried to watch (it’s quite embarrassing actually) so hopefully there’s something you’ll like on there 😊
fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood
genre: shounen, action, fantasy, women characters being badass
very brief summary: two boys learn alchemy and try to get their bodies back, ends up unravelling government conspiracy in the process
this is my all time favorite uhdfdjks
top tier, a masterpiece truly
i'd rate it 100/10 but it surpasses that honestly
it's just really REALLY good
might be a little bit slow in the beginning but trust me it picks up quickly
if you’re interested it’s originally a manga and has some more details the anime left out !!!
assassination classroom / ansatsu kyoushitsu
genre: shounen, school, action, kids being kids but with knives and guns
brief summary: a class of kids are assigned to kill a super monster before he blows up the earth in exactly one year - the catch is that he’s their homeroom teacher :D
basically kids learning how to be assassins but also trying to pass school and it's all very heartfelt and you WILL adopt them all
10/10 i cry every time
honestly watch this first it’s very easy to follow
also a manga with a few storylines the anime left out, not crucial but i recommend anyways since i read it first before the anime even came out and it just has a special place in my heart
noragami
genre: shounen, urban fantasy, gods being literal disasters someone pls help them
brief summary: a girl accidentally meets an unknown god and asks him for his help, slowly learns more about his world (i’m so sorry this is really vague but it’ll all be covered in the first episode trust me)
the gods can find spirits (dead people) and turn them into weapons if that’s cool
sexy animation !!!!!
only big flaw with the anime is that they mess up the main character’s characterization a little bit so you might want to read the manga? also only has two seasons and the manga is further along ,,, but everyone is currently stressed tf out over the plot ohmygod ,,,
gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun
genre: romantic comedy but heavy emphasis on comedy, slice of life, literal chaos
brief summary: a girl has a crush on a guy who turns out to be a manga artist, she winds up being his assistant (this barely covers it though)
a bunch of high school kids being chaotic and oblivious
just watch it i can’t really explain it in words you’ll be laughing a lot
only one season so if you enjoy there’s also more chaos in the manga
your lie in april / shigatsu wa kimi no uso
genre: shoujo, classical music !!!!
brief summary: a former piano prodigy who no longer plays because he can’t hear music meets a violinist that brings color into his life once again
look
this is top tier
so beautiful hhdjfdks
i watched this on my new tv and shed real tears
as a pianist/musician i adore it a lot hhhhh the pieces they chose to play are all the favs (i performed a medley with my violinist friend for a show once hahahah)
a little sad tho beware of feels
the opening song is like . so freaking well known omg
akame ga kill!
genre: shounen, action, lots of fighting and blood, war
brief summary: a boy joins a group of assassins who are working to overthrow the shithole government (yea sounds kind of basic but there’s more to it)
mainly just girls with weapons
i mean there’s guys too but the girls are the best characters
the weapons are lowkey magical too
yea this is where my nickname came from lol
the anime gets a 7/10 but the manga probably 8/10
manga is darker, more graphic but better plotwise
no game no life
genre: shounen, a bit of ecchi ugh, lots of mind games
brief summary: two genius gamer siblings get transported to a world where everything is decided by games, they decide they want to beat god
very colorful and pretty animation!!!!
there’s some questionable “fanservice” moments but ignoring that the plot is legit
only one season tho :(( pls it was so popular when it came out where is s2
there is a movie prequel, a lot more angsty but still vv good
ao haru ride
genre: shoujo, the usual high school romance, slice of life
brief summary: a girl meets the guy she used to have a crush on, only to find that his personality has completely changed (she has too though)
insert falling back in love
one of the shoujo classics haha
i binged this in one night a few weeks ago
not sure if it was worth it but i had fun lmao
just a low stakes cute anime
also very pretty
only 12 eps, the manga finishes later
given
genre: just music boys being gay lol (jk it’s kind of sad)
brief summary: a boy learns to move on from his ex by joining a band (this is possibly the shittiest summary ever but i dont wanna give anything away hdjhkjs)
just watch it lmao it’ll make sense
idiot boys
band boys !!!
feels but not overwhelming
the comedy is top notch though
i adore given so much hhjkdf waiting for the movie to come out
THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD
all the songs are on spotify i listen to them way too much
yuri on ice
genre: figure skaters being gay that’s all you need to know
brief summary: a figure skater falls into a slump, somehow winds up with the top skater as his coach (yet another shitty summary sorry)
hmm this isn’t actually one of my favorites but it’s popular enough so why not
i just really love figure skating hfjdks
it’s pretty accurate i’d say! there are even easter eggs of top men skaters irl hahah
definitely dramatized lol
but still pretty fun
bungou stray dogs
genre: shounen, urban fantasy, very dapper mafia / detectives
brief summary: a kid on the run after getting kicked out of his orphanage accidentally saves a detective, shit goes down from there
pretty fun as you learn about their powers, watch them solve mysteries
the fighting is cool too
until the machine guns appear ugh i just tune that part out
oh yea all the characters are named for actual literary figures and i didnt realize until s2 💀
fairy tail
genre: shounen, magic/fantasy, action, friends !!!!!
brief summary: just mages in guilds going on quests lolol what more do you want
fr it’s honestly quite chill
like there’s definitely an ongoing plot and lots of subplots / arcs
but it’s very character driven
so many cool character designs
was OBSESSED w this in middle school ,,, highkey embarrassing omg
one of the big anime/manga, if you like bnha i’m sure you’ll have fun with fairy tail
