I just realized, i dont think a collab between whay wilbur soot, tommyinnit, and i dunno who else that was.. like CG5 and i think 2 or 3 other youtubers- actually made a weird stickman universe (the type of shit alan becker makes but irl) here they called eachother green, red, blue, pink, ect, set in the apocoplytic/scientific world.

Somehow, i convinced myself- within MY DREAM that that was real, plausible, and that thinking about doing a series in which this dream could be a reality, is infact just me "copying off" an idea- a video- THAT DOESNT EVEN EXIST OUTSIDE OF MY MIND????????

Also, apperently i wanted to marry green. Just because like he was so cool ;-;. I cant eveb remember why. I just know that i really like blue because he was a cool mix of lenardo from rottmt and sonic, but also a very big whiny failboy so i started getting annoyed by his antics. And then purple was like, ever anime person with glasses ever. Intelligent stoic smart.. pink.. i cant remember how she started off as, but i know by the end she helped save me and was a pretty cool resiliance leader. Stuck with me all the untill the end where we got into the sacrafice cult room, and even discovering more "test chambers" similar to the one i was in (its like poppyplaytime boiled down to a single corridor, that looks like a childrens decorated classroom wall), and crossed to the true original one, where i learned about the truth of this all. She cared for me a lot and was super cool. At some point i called her "cherrybomb" because well... she was reddish, and yeah.

Black and white was there, thy were both eneimes (gaurds) i had to face off, but i dunno what happened to black. But i think white had a redemption arc, and started helping me escape/survive.

Those so far are the only colors i can remember who helped me escape the confindes of the hellscape i found myself in (untill i realized that i all just leads down to the cult sacarfice room, which sucks ass.)

If red was there he probably was angry or grumpy. But tbh i dunno how big the teams was cause i barely remeber other colors, or if they were at all signifigant.

Also: had to escape some weird playground area by not getting shot by water type pokemon who kept spitting water at me (i had to shoot my water gun at the first to progress) and when i was done with that- turrets came out of the ground and threatened to shoot me to death. In the jungle gym, i managed to find the stuff to turn them off.

Not sure if pink started off bad. My brain is telling me she was a officer/guard befoee having sympathy and helping me to escape. I remeberher using her status to talk to another guard during our escape to go ourside the facility. And plus she had extra knowledge on both all the previous test chambers/corridors and how it wasnt always perfect, with many of the "traditionally classroom freindly animals" not being on there- like cows being eels and what not. And then instead of going to the direct end of the corridor, she brought me to this secret door i never noticed, in which some guy was inside there, and.. i think it was some messy as computer room? That or a direct way to enter the cult sacrafice room (which literally looks like a colluseem, where apperently a giant monster god will come down and eat you, whilst cloacked hodded figures- still stickmen- qwill watch and say nothing about. Tberes one guy who give you robes, hes the only cloaked morherfucker that speaks and announces things, and stands of the little platform on the bottom of the colluesem).

- phil was very scared about you being so gravely hurt, it kept him up for some nights. thankfully, you pulled through.

- he visited whenever he could. if he couldn’t, he was busy making sure coming home felt as comfortable for you as possible while also educating himself on how to take care of you.

- phil would listen to how you felt, and be understanding of your feelings.

- “You don’t have to tell me why you did it, I’m just glad you’re here,” pulling you in for a warm hug.

- when you got back home, he made sure he and the boys had prepared your favorite dinner and desserts.

It was the day you had just got home from rehabilitation, and you two were sitting on the couch. You hadn’t said much, you felt like you had nothing to say. Phil had asked for you to sit down so you two could talk, one on one.

You two had gotten ready, eaten breakfast, and said goodbye to the rest of your family so you could head over to the park. It was close enough that it wasn’t unbearable to walk to. Even if you weren’t completely yourself yet, you were glad Tommy was.

After the short walk you two finally reached the park. Tommy immediately bolted toward the pond and you jogged behind. He had already started throwing the ducks some seeds, and even threw it on a duck. It didn’t seem too pleased.

You two sat at the edge of the pond as you watched the ducks eat. “Hey.” You hear Tommy call to you, and you turn your head to him.

“Can we talk about what happened? With you? Is it okay?” You could hear the uncertainty in his voice.

“Go ahead, what is it?”

“When Techno found out what happened to you, and told us the news, I was scared shitless.” He let out a sad huff. “I thought we were going to lose you.” Tommy kept his eyes fixed at the pond in front of him. “I’m sorry, I really shouldn’t have brought this up. I’m just glad you’re okay.” He sighed.

You put a hand on his shoulder. “Oh Tommy…” You started, “I’m sorry for making you worry. You shouldn’t have to feel like that because of my actions.”

You were sitting at the dinner table, being the last one there. You were poking at your food for the most part, and Wilbur got home late from… whatever Wilbur thing he was doing. - i think out of everyone in the family, he understands you the most in terms of how you feel.

- not suicidal, but just generally having depressive episodes due to his ADHD.

- techno’s generally closed off, but started to really open up to you because he wanted to show he cares, even if it meant going out of his comfort zone.

- techno suggested journaling. once a day or once per week, it didn’t really matter. just as long as you could write down your feelings somewhere.

- he didn’t explicitly say it, but he also bought a book for himself so he could do it along with you. although, he more often than not just forgets to write in it until you mention your own journal.

- if you want to be sad and quiet, you can be sad and quiet with him. his room is a safe space for you if you ever need it and you’re always welcome to come in, just as long as you knock first.

With one hand on your mouse scrolling through the internet, and another resting your head on it, you were safe to admit you were utterly and completely bored. Honestly, you thought about taking another nap after your last one, but a knock on your door stopped you right before you pulled the covers over yourself. “Can I come in?”

He gave a simple wave and his signature “Halloo.” He walked right over to you and handed a journal and a ballpoint pen. “I got this. For you.” His stare was sharp but you could sort of tell he was nervous.

“What for?”

“Oh Techno, thank you. That’s very sweet of you.” You gave a slight smile, but saw that he still had another journal in his hand. “You have two journals?”

Techno raised his eyebrow in confusion before looking down at his hand. “Oh this? It’s for me. So we could do it together, I guess.”

You let out a happy hum. “That’s nice. Say, why don’t we go to your room? I want to see your new lava lamp and stuff.”

every time a famous streamer walks by he will yell it out and record it then vlog your reaction, even if they’re surrounded with bodyguards & trying to get to another place quickly

he’d zoom in his camera to their face at a horrible angle and be like

“oh my god it is THE ninja. ninja famous fortnite player, HELLO.”

but he gets completely ignored

then the camera pans out to you, still really zoomed in that the capture is blurry

surprisingly techno is really calm despite this being like one of his first conventions

but when he finally settles in and gets comfortable, he’s showing the same energy

however there’s still those awkward moments that are unavoidable

idk why but something about him makes me think that if you feel tired and want to go back to your hotel room, he’d go with you just to make sure you get there safe

he probably also needs a break from being around everyone else for a moment too LMAO

i could also see him searching far and wide in the artist alley for fanart of himself AHAHAH

walking around with him in the convention consists of someone yelling “BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD” every 5 minutes but you don’t really mind

Playing With Fire

While playing a perfectly innocent video game you get thrown into a dangerous world on the brink of incineration! At least you’re surrounded by a bunch of hot people. If nothing else you can shower them with copious, well earned affection. 

You come awake with a start. 

Everything is just a little off kilter. Like your eyes aren’t focused or you're wearing someone else's glasses. It takes you a few long minutes to realize that you’re staring down at a piece of paper. 

It’s listed one through eight, with a check box next to each number. 

At the top you see ‘Company Preference List’, and beneath that is your name scrawled in your own handwriting. But, when did you write it? And what was the list? You look up to find yourself in a library, surrounded by a bunch of other people all dressed in orange uniforms. You look down and find yourself in the same one. You recognize it as the Fire Force boiler suits. 

You touch your cheek slowly. Then poke the corner of your eyes. You’re not wearing your VR visor. And you’re not holding handles either. Are you hallucinating? You were playing the game, in the middle of some side quest. Did the game reset? This looked like a scene from the start of the game. It followed the beginning of the series, but through the eyes of a random side character researching Haijima on their own. There was some kind of revenge plot and a lot of stuff about their big sister, but you hadn’t gotten to the full reveal of the tragic back story yet. They interacted with the main characters plenty, but mostly they spent their time in their own squad, the fourth. 

You were halfway through the game, and now you were back at the start?

You look around for something to tell you what’s going on. You try to poke the menu button, but you’re not holding controllers. So all you really end up doing is poking the air between your hands with your thumbs. You’re starting to panic, when something shiny catches your attention. 

When did you get that ring? 

Plain silver on your forefinger. You poke it and gasp when the world shifts minutely. 

A flicker of fire, a figure dark against the light. It warps in and out of your vision in a split second. 

Right. Tragic back story. 

The ring was from their (your?) older sister. Now disappeared a-la-infernal fire. You were like the reverse Shinra. 

Wait. 

Shinra. 

Your head snapped around quickly from one person to the other. Most of them were boring background characters. No, no, no. Boring. Lame. Basically grey blobs. 

Were you going crazy and you couldn’t even enjoy it?! 

“Uh, hey? Are you okay?” 

Your head snaps sideways to find bright red eyes peering at you in concern. 

Red eyes. Black hair. 

You stare hard at him until the corners of his mouth start to twitch and curl upwards. 

“H-hey. Why are you staring at me?” 

Abruptly you reach over and cup his cheeks. His face is hot beneath your hands. You can touch him. You can feel the heat of his skin. He’s blushing something fierce. 

“You are… adorable,” you declare. 

He turns bright red and squeaks at you until you finally let him go. 

“What?!” 

“Did I stutter?” you prop your chin in your hand and look him over. Yep. Definitely cute. You just wanna squeeze him. But, you should probably do other things first. Like figure out what exactly is going on. 

Not that you can come outta the gate with ‘hey I was playing a video game and now I’m stuck in it, also I thought you weren’t real? What gives yo?’ 

Even you aren’t that impulsive. 

Actually, in real live you’re not very impulsive at all. That was what made games so fun, especially open world ones where you could do basically whatever you wanted. IRL you were more withdrawn than anything, even when you wanted to be social. 

Now… You could be whoever you wanted, right? 

Did you even have to follow the plot? Could you put a preference for another company and go there? Or would you still end up in the forth? And what about your abilities? In the game you’d had a choice at the beginning between a second gen ability and two third gen powers. You’d ended up picking at random, since they all seemed cool and you hadn’t been very far into the anime yet at the time. 

How would you even use those powers here, assuming that you could? 

“Sorry, I was spacing out,” you finally said, “What were you saying?” 

“Oh uh,” Shinra looked away, his grin still pulling at his face. “I was just asking if you were okay. You were looking at the form for so long, but whenever you talked about joining a company before you always said you would go to the fourth. Not that we talk a lot, so I wouldn’t know if you wanted to go to the fifth or the sixth or the seventh or-” 

“Babe, you’re rambling,” you cut in, starting to smile yourself. Even though you’re beyond confused something about Shinra puts you at ease. Everything about him seems so… warm. And yeah, the smile could be off putting. If it wasn’t so damn adorable. 

“O-oh!” aaaand he was blushing again. 

You look down at the paper, your brows furrowing. What are you even supposed to say to this? 

“I dunno,” you said at last, “I guess I was reconsidering. There’s a lot of companies, and a lot of options out there. I might end up going a totally different path if it’s not too late… What about you?” 

“Me? Well I didn’t really have a particular preference, but I heard that they’re trying to send more people to the eighth this year. Since its such a new company, and so small.” 

“Mmmm. That’s true. Maybe I’ll go there,” you muse. It would put you smack in the middle of all the action, and you could see the sweet Iris, and the too-hot-to-be-fair Maki. You could stay with adorable Shinra and the well meaning dumbass that was Arthur. Not to mention the two guys in charge. If you could get Obi to bench press you- 

Nope! Bad! Focus on the task at hand. No thirsting over captains right now! 

“I was thinking the same thing,” Shinra admitted, looking down at his own paper. 

“Yeah? I guess such a small company would make it easy for you to stand out and come a hero, right?” 

Shinra looked startled. You offered him a sweet smile and turned back to your paper and picked up your pen. 

You marked your preferences. 

Eighth, seventh, fourth, second, fifth, sixth, third, first. 

“The eighth and the seventh?” Shinra asked, peaking over at your sheet. 

You shot him a grin. “They both sound like fun to me. Hey, Shinra?” 

“Yeah?” 

Your grin grows wider. “Let’s both do our best, and save lots of people okay?” 

Shinra’s smile is small, but true. 

“Okay.” 

You bump your fist to his to seal the deal.

It had taken you a couple of tries to find your dorm room. 

Your body seemed like it knew what it was doing, even if your mind didn’t. You had to explain away your frazzled state to the woman in charge of your wing, a nun who’s name you couldn’t recall to save your life, as nerves. She had looked dubious, but hadn’t questioned you when she pointed you to your room. 

Probably thinks I’m hung over, you thought as you stepped inside. If I didn’t know better I’d think I was drunk enough to hallucinate. But it’s all way too real. Just what happened? One second I was playing the game, and then my phone went off, and then it was all dark. After that I was in the library. 

 It was making your head hurt thinking about it. 

You poked around the room. If you remembered right you’d had a roommate, but she’d already been assigned her company a week early. Her dad was some top brass in the military, so off to the second company she went, 

You made sure the door was locked before you started riffling through your things. 

Books, papers, clothes. Personal items. 

You had a collection of antique keys for some reason, and a blanket shaped like a tortilla that was warmer than most space heaters. There was an old lighter with a hawk engraved on it in one drawer. When you touched it you got the sudden smell of pipe tobacco and a man laughing far in the back of your mind before it was gone. Just like when you touched the ring earlier. 

Memories that weren’t yours. You had stepped into someone else's life. 

When you looked in the mirror you found the face that your had designed for your character staring back at you. There was a thin ring of white in your eyes, cutting through their color and marking you as a pyrokinetic. 

Shit. Each of those abilities had a different eye. Which one was the circle? There was a circle, a pointy cross, and teardrop because the designer was some edgelord. Which power does this mean I have? Wings? Magnet sand? Or the spear torch thingy? 

You wished this could have been more like Fate/Grand Order. Then you would just have to keep track of your teams abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Not your own. 

Fuck. 

You spend a long time in your room, packing up all of your belongings. None of them really belong to you. They belong to your character, and they’re only familiar in the sense that you’ve thrown them over your shoulder when you were looking for something specific before. Only now if you throw them they won’t puff back to where they were before eventually. You’ll actually have to put this stuff away. 

Damn it, you’ve never liked packing. 

Still, you carefully rolled your new found clothes into baggage burritos. They were pretty plain, all in all. Oh well. You could make adjustments later if you really wanted to. Was it a game mechanic you haven't unlocked? Full customization? You could pick gender and hair, and the eyes depended on your pyrokinesis. Maybe at some point you got to change clothes too. 

You’d figure it out. 

You hoped. 

Your head was still reeling the with the idea of what was going on, but for now, with nothing else you really could do, you decided to go with it. 

Once you had everything all packed up you left your room to do some exploring. You tried to keep track of where you were going in the big fire station/training academy, but before long you were hopelessly lost. 

You stumbled upon a training room, where a familiar boy with a dorky pony tail was slashing a glowing blue sword through a training dummy. The poor dummy fell to the floor in pieces. 

You watched him for a few minutes before he noticed you. 

“Oh,” he said, “It’s you.” 

Which was… pretty lame, if you’re being honest. 

What, did you one pop his delusional bubble? 

“Yep,” you popped your ‘p’, “It’s a-me.” Mario. “What did that guy ever do to you? Try to challenge the great Knight King Arthur on a troll bridge?” you meant it to be a joke, but Arthur actually lit up. 

“Hardly! This was merely training. A Knight King must always be ready to defend his people!” 

“Of course,” you nodded along, playing with him. “And soon you’ll be embarking on a great quest to your new company, right? Do you know which one?” 

“I didn’t bother with those silly preference sheets. Let whichever company requires a knight most vie for my presence.” 

You were honestly impressed Arthur even knew the word ‘vie’. Wasn’t he kind of a loon? 

“Mhmm, mhmm, I see,” you nodded seriously. “Then in case, I might see you in my own company.” 

You wanted to ask him to spar, if only to see Excalibur in action more, but you still weren’t sure what your power was or how to use it. So you ended up bowing out. 

It took you another hour to find your way  back to your room. 

Whoops. 

You don’t really sleep. You lay down and try to wake up, and hope that come morning you’ll be back in your living room with a vr stapped to your head and this whole thing will have been a (not so terrible) dream.

Fast Lane | Tomura Shigaraki x reader

Summary: You convince Tomura to go on a little outing outside of town, however Kurogiri is unavailable to warp you there, leaving the only option to drive. And ofc Tomura wants to be the one to drive...even though he’s never been behind a wheel before irl. You may have to give him some pointers.... (I had the idea while driving the other day that Tomura likely does not know how to actually drive a car, and then this lil ficlet popped out haha)

“Tomuraaaa,” you hugged Tomura Shigaraki from behind as he sat at the bar, “can we go here?” You thrusted your phone in front of his face. 

“Huh?” He took it carefully in his hand, liking the warmth that your arm brought draped around his shoulders. Displayed on the screen in front of him was an article about a festival outside of the city. “What’d you wanna go there for?”

“It looks like fun! C’mon, it’s summer, the weather’s great…let’s get outta here and go do something!” 

He blinked at you, turning his head to the side so he could get a good look as he put the phone down on the bar’s counter. Those puppy dog eyes in combination with the pouty lips gave him pause. It was a one-two hit combo that always k.o’d his resilience. “Look, I don’t mind going I guess. But Kurogiri’s out on an important mission.”

“We don’t need to bother Kurogiri! It’s not like we need a babysitter.”

“Uhhhh, then how’re we getting there, genius?”

You shrugged, slinking your arms from around his shoulders and going behind the bar, bending down and pulling out a chilled glass, filling it with some ice and soda. “We can just drive. I know that’s a more boring way than traveling via warp gate, but ya know it could be fun! A lil’ road trip and a summer festival. Can’t get much better.” 

“No. We can just stay here. Play some games, I dunno…fuck around.” 

“Oh, but we can do that any old time! C’mon, the festival’ll be fun, I swear!”

He deadpanned. “Gimmie an actual reason. Otherwise I got no reason to go. Fun isn’t tempting enough.”

You leaned across the counter to be nose-to-nose with Tomura. “If I promise to do whatever you want later, will that change your mind?”

Smirking, he said, “Now you’ve got my attention. Don’t regret it later.” 

Together you were walking down the street towards the car which was parked a few blocks down from the bar. Shigaraki was slinking next to you, hands deep in the pockets of his sweatshirt. You got out the keys from your pocket and were about to head for the driver’s seat when he said, “I wanna drive.”

“Okay, sure,” you tossed him the keys and he caught it, letting them dangle between his thumb and forefinger. 

You both got in and he started the ignition. And sat there. 

“Tomu…are you gonna go?”

“Yeah…gimmie a sec.” He was looking around, a hand tentatively on the steering wheel and the other on the shift. He looked out the passenger’s window and then fiddled with the rearview mirror unnecessarily, mind working, and then jerkily shifted the car into drive. Without looking, he pulled into the lane and immediately a car beeped at you as he cut them off. 

You began fiddling with the radio as you eyed Tomura. He cut off another car as he sped down the street, nearly blowing a light. His movements were jerky and the he hit the break hard. The hard stop made your hand fly out in front of you, gripping the dash. A sneaking suspicion began to bloom in your mind. Both of his hands were on the steering wheel, his knuckles white from the overbearing grip. He tapped the wheel with one finger as he stared down the light, willing it to change. And once it did, he floored the gas. Your hand was hanging onto the door handle as if that would keep you stationary as he took a harsh right turn, making the tires screech. 

“Tomu, you’re driving like this is GTA!” you laughed nervously, knowing how much he played the game in reference. 

He shrugged, his body visibly tense as he changed lanes, cutting off another car narrowly missing colliding with them and earning another beep. “Can’t you change the music? I hate that poppy radio shit, just connect my phone.”

As you unlocked Tomura’s phone and pressed shuffle on his playlist, you asked as nonchalantly as possible, “Did Kurogiri teach you to drive?”

“No.”

This brought pause, making you blink. “Then who the hell taught you?”

“Look, I know how to drive! Do you know how many hours I’ve put into GTA? And you can’t come close to me in Mario Kart.” 

“Please tell me that this is not the first time you’re behind an actual wheel?” You said slowly, your words very measured and even as your eyes went wide, staring at the congested lane ahead as he once again had to hit the breaks hard, bringing the car to a jerky stop. 

“So what if it is?” He said defensively. 

“Oh. My. God….and I’m the fool who gave you the fucking keys!”

“Why would I have ever driven before? That’s what I have Kurogiri for…and look, I wanted to try it!”

“That poor man has no life of his own.”

Tomura glared at you. “You’re the one that wants to go to this damn festival outta town! I could just dust this fucking car and we won’t go at all.” 

“Don’t take your eyes off the road! Look…it’s fine to try it out, but it’d be bad if we got pulled over or if you hit someone. Lemme just give you some pointers, okay?” When he glared at you again, his eyes narrowed to little lethal slits, you hastily added, “You’re doing really great! I just wanna help is all!”

“Fine whatever,” he spat out, eyes turning back to the road. 

“Okay, so put your hand a little lower,” you reached over and guided his hand carefully down the steering wheel, “it’ll be more comfortable that way. And when you change lanes, look out your side mirror, don’t just do it. You’ve almost hit two cars like that.”

“You’ve almost hit two cars,” he said in a higher-pitched, mocking voice. “They weren’t even close!” 

The GPS called out for him to turn. “Okay, you’re gonna wanna slow down and roll into the turn since you have the green light. You were taking the turns a little fast before,” you put gently. 

He rolled his eyes. “They were fine!” But he took his foot off the gas and the turn was smoother. 

“That was a lot better!” 

Smriking, his body seemed to relax as he leaned back in his seat. “I’ve been told I’m a fast learner.” 

“Mmmm, I’m sure by loads of people.” 

“Hey be grateful! I could just turn the wheel to dust and we’d be doing what I want.”

“You’re enjoying driving too much to do that.” 

“Semantics.” And he blew a red.

Your eyes popped. “I think you did that on purpose! You actually gotta stop at reds, Tomura!” 

He snorted, “Yeah, okayyy. You think I’m gonna follow traffic laws?” 

You shook your head, unable to contain a laugh. “It’s your way or the highway, I guess.”

“Now you’re getting it! Remember I can turn this party right back around.

“This is gonna end in a fucking car chase. Not sure why I’m surprised.”

“Where’s the fun if we don’t break a few rule?” As he said that, he cut off another car, but this time you did catch him checking his mirror. He just chose to be an asshole. 

Little victories had to be acknowledged. “I’ll admit you are getting better.” 

He turned onto the freeway, and swerved in and out of lanes until the road was clear and he could speed down, the speedometer pushing past 70, then 80, then began pushing close to 100. “Okay, this is kinda fun.” 

“I’m gonna have to close my eyes and brace myself when you try to park,” you sighed. “And forget reversing. We’re gonna get into a fender-bender by the end of the day.”

Tomura shrugged. “Semantics.”

Zenith: Chapter 56-59

Chapter 56

We’re in Andi’s POV. She’s angsting, as usual, about how she’s a bad person and all that stuff, but now that she and Valen have exchanged apologies and everyone else is partying down, she will allow herself to get wasted and dance for real, which is significant because she only pretends to dance. With ghosts. Yeah, remember that bit? I wish I didn’t.

Andi finds herself looking for Dex Dogtective and thinking about how they used to bone good, but she’s acting all tsundere about it:

The two of them together were like Griss and Rigna. They just didn’t mix well.

We still don’t know what Griss and Rigna is, and I bet we never will! I’m assuming it’s some sort of booze, in which case ... I mean I’m no expert but some specific types of Earth booze go together. We don’t exactly know the effects of neither Griss nor Rigna or how they interact in the same system to have this comparison make sense to us.

But sure, uuh, deep sci-fi worldbuilding, I guess.

Andi asks Valen if he’s ready and that this isn’t one of their military balls and they can just “live,” and Valen is like “how does one live” and Andi’s like��“lets find out together” and it’s very deep, trust me, I promise.

They see the Unified Systems flag and Valen makes a comment about “them” not deserving to be on the flag. Andi assumes he’s talking about the Olen System, where Xen Pterra is, and we get yet another exposition dump about how Xen Pterra was running out of resources and attacked the other systems for not helping. Which, and forgive me if I’ve said this before, doesn’t make any sense? Wars are expensive, resources spent in armed conflict could have been used to help out the planet instead. I dunno if Shinsay are trying to make a Statement about people in power caring more about warfare than their own populations, but I’d be very surprised if they went that route and didn’t play this as straight as they seem to be. 

Shinsay introduce yet another type of booze. Andi and Valen drink it. It’s good shit. They go dancing.

... but with metal shields that pop out when it needs extra protection. See, this metaphor could’ve been good if any thought went into it beyond “does this make me sound deep?”

Chapter 57

Dex is already tipsy and he’s thinking about how hot Andi is in ... interesting terms.

Pro tip: When having a character describe someone they find desirable and you want to convey that to the reader, avoid using the word “balls” anywhere in that description.

Chapter 58

The Xen Pterrans are attacking. Lon gets instantly wounded because drama. Dex pulls Andi to the ground and covers her with his body. It would’ve been exciting and/or touching if I cared. Alas.

Chapter 59

We’re in Valen’s POV. He’s having flashbacks to his torture. He’s about to get shot by a Xen Pterran when:

“No!” Valen shouted. “No! Not me!” He closed his eyes and waited for the shot. But instead, a body brushed past his. Valen opened his eyes, and the soldier was gone.

Valen tries to hide and sees Andi and the rest of the crew being all badass. He’s starting to have a severe flashback and is about to lose his grip on reality when Andi snaps him out of it with a smack to the head (don’t do this IRL) and says they have to run. Valen sees the Xen Pterran ships overhead (???) and the crest on them (?????), which is the Solis family crest. It reminds him of Nor and we get this:

A queen of death and darkness, seated upon a throne of the galaxy’s bones.

I didn’t italicize this because this entire sentence was italicized in the book. No idea why. To make it more epic, I guess?

This post is a bit on the short side because the chapters are on the short side and nothing really happens in them despite there being plenty of potential for interesting character development, so I figured I’d take this opportunity to make some observations.

The multiple POV shit is so, so bad, if you guys hadn’t noticed. I’m sparing you a lot of trouble by recapping with minimal quotes. So why don’t I think it works here?

To pull off good multiple POVs, you need strong character voices. Dex is the only character who has anything close to a character voice at all, which isn’t saying much. Lira would be next, then Andi/Nor, whose narrations sound almost identical and I’m pretty sure that’s not intentional, and then we have Valen, who has literally nothing going for him. When all of the characters sound the same and make similar observations using similar thought processes about the same events, there’s no reason for them to have their own POV.

The POV flipping takes you out of the action. I understand that Shinsay are trying to show us how the same event affects different characters, but they forget that they’re showing the same event over and over, though we don’t stay long enough with any of the characters for us to actually see how they’re affected. It ends up becoming a disjointed mess of different people describing the same event. This is not necessary and doesn’t add anything to the story, rather it removes any well-needed tension and excitement by breaking up the action.

Building off the last point, we don’t stay long enough with anyone to really get a good feel for who they are as people. We just jump around fanfic-like from different heads just so Shinsay can have their OCs jerk each other off about how cool their moves are. It’s extremely pointless. Multiple POVs isn’t just about getting a new angle on the same cool action shot the hero does, it’s about getting us closer to the character whose head we’re in.

Back on the topic of the “plot”: Did nobody, like, look up, at this festival? How would the Xen Pterran fleet already be not only in position, but close enough to the surface where Valen can see their crests? Did nobody notice the strange ships hovering above their heads? On a planet that supposedly doesn’t have a significant starfleet? Surely that’d be something people would find at least alarming?

Also, why did Xen Pterra attack the one planet that posed no threat to them in a military sense? It sounds like my question answers itself but think about it. Now Arcardia, which is famously military, will have time to prepare and launch a counter-attack. Surely you’d want to focus your surprise attack on the strongest opponent to hopefully take them out of the fight quickly and then pick off the rest? Or, in this case, hope to brainwash them into submission and then use their resources on the other allies? If I remember correctly, this was supposed to be a “test run” to see if Zenith works, but is that really a risk they can take by alerting the enemy to their new cool superweapon?

Well, except I’m pretty sure Arcardia doesn’t launch any counter-attack and barely even prepares for war at all, so I guess I’m expecting too much of ... well, all of it. 

Really need to stop doing that.

When Hinata wakes this morning...she wakes with a craving. It’s not often something hits her right off the bat upon waking up, but this time around, the idea seems to rise with her.

Today...she’s going to make cinnamon buns.

Admittedly...that’s not a very strange occurrence in her household. They are her favorite treat, and she is very fond of baking. More often than not, on her days off from work, Hinata can be found either tending to her garden, or bustling about in her kitchen. Plants and food are what make her happiest.

Well...besides her husband, of course.

He happens to have the same day off, still asleep when Hinata finds herself awake a bit before their typical day-off alarm. While the pair let themselves sleep in somewhat, neither are too keen on wasting the day away in bed on their mornings free from the police force.

...most mornings, anyway. Sometimes, they linger in bed a while after waking, but...not just to lounge about...

But this time, Sasuke is still asleep, mouth slightly ajar and breath light. In truth, Hinata always loves waking up before him. Seeing him sleep is one of the most peaceful things in her life now...and she treasures every glance she gets.

His senses are keen, however, and it’s never long before he wakes under her scrutiny. Dark eye opening, he gives her a quiet glance. “...morning.”

“Morning,” she greets, smiling.

“What’s got you awake so early?”

“I have a craving.”

...he perks a brow. “...for...what, exactly?”

“Cinnamon buns!”

He gives a soft snort, an arm lifting to rest over his brow. “I should have known.”

“Want to make some with me?”

Sasuke blinks. In truth, he’d hoped to do some sparring with Naruto this morning, but...well, that’s not his top priority. “...I suppose I could. Do we have everything we need?”

“I’ll have to check...I guess if not, we can just make a quick grocery trip. We can probably use a few other things regardless, ne?”

Nodding, Sasuke then rises with a grunt, the pair of them abandoning the bed and making to dress, both a bit groggy in the morning hours. As Hinata pokes about in their pantry, Sasuke makes a quick breakfast in the interim to save a bit of time.

“We’re low on eggs, and I’m out of cinnamon,” she later reports as she takes her seat across from him. “So I guess we’ll be going to the market after all.”

“That’s fine. If we need to, we need to.” Besides, part of him always enjoys doing little domestic things with her. He’s still...adjusting a bit, so having some kind of normalcy is comforting. And honestly enjoyable. Even just sitting in silence with his wife is more than he could ever ask for.

Once breakfast is done and cleaned up, they finalize a list, and head out. As usual, Konoha’s shops and stalls are bustling this time of day, and the pair have to navigate decent crowds to get what they need. But otherwise it’s just a typical jaunt through the market, and once the whole of their list is crossed off, they return back to the Uchiha district, bags in tow.

“There!” Hinata chirps, beaming. “That should tide us over for a while!”

“And get your buns made,” Sasuke agrees, managing a soft smile.

“Mhm!”

Sorting their spoils is easy enough, and then Hinata gets to gathering up what she needs for her recipe...which she’s made so many times, she has it completely memorized.

“So, what should I do?”

“Whatever you feel like doing! How about I list off the steps, and you do every other one…?”

“Sure.”

Together, they follow Hinata’s mental list, swapping steps and working together to get the dough going. Taking a little lunch break as the rolls rise, Hinata offers, “Almost done!”

“I think this baking thing is more fun than I gave it credit for.”

“Oh?”

Sasuke nods. “Cooking was always just...a necessity for me. Getting to do it for fun and something more...frivolous is actually pretty relaxing.”

That gets Hinata to smile softly. “That’s a good point...cooking is a skill that everyone should have, of course...but reaching a point where you can do it more for fun than simple necessity is nice. I started baking as a hobby when I was a genin. I’d bring things for my team, and it made me happy to give them something I’d m-made from scratch. It’s why I started making poultices, too. Having the extra time and skill to do something for others - or just for yourself - is so...refreshing.”

“Mm,” he hums in agreement, chin braced in a hand. “...there’s a lot of things I can appreciate better now. Sometimes my mind still slips back into a survival mode, but...things like this remind me I don’t have to do that anymore. I can just...be normal.”

“I’m glad.”

Once the dough rises, they pop the buns into the oven, the pair watching for a bit through the glass. “Well...time for more waiting!” Hinata laughs.

“I’ll clean up in the meantime.”

“I can do it! It was my idea.”

“So can I.”

Her cheeks puff in a pout as he starts gathering up the tools they used, stubbornly swiping the cloth to wipe up all the spare flour and bits of dough. Sasuke just snorts, knowing there’s little stopping his wife once she’s set her mind on something.

Once the timer goes off half an hour later, Hinata bustles back into the kitchen, donning oven mitts and carefully pulling the pan from the oven.

They’re a perfect golden brown, steaming and soft.

“Okay, time for icing!”

Sasuke mixes the sugar, milk, cream cheese, and butter, Hinata sprinkling in a bit of vanilla as his nose wrinkles. “Won’t this make them too sweet…?”

“They’re supposed to be sweet!”

“...can I leave one without?”

Giggling - Sasuke’s anti-sweet tooth is infamous - she nods. “Of course. You can do more than one if you want.”

“One will be enough. The leftovers we can share with the rest of the clan. You know Itachi won’t pass them up, or Shisui.”

“True - they’ll be all swiped before I can blink!”

Sasuke carefully spreads the frosting across the buns, leaving one in the corner without. Still warm, they make the icing ooze.

“Want them now, or...should we be patient?”

“Up to you - they were your idea,” he insists.

“Hm...well, if you want to fetch everyone else, we can do it now!”

Nodding, Sasuke relies instead on a hawk, remaining to guard his singular frostingless bun.

Shisui, of course, shows up first, giving rather enthusiastic thanks for the treat. Next is Itachi and family, his twins eagerly reaching for the treats from their short stature below the countertop.

Hinata gives them all their dishes, the impromptu get-together a pleasant one, as always. Everyone is all smiles, and she beams. Seems it was a good thing she woke up with this craving!

Quiet as always, Sasuke mostly watches and listens, silently eating his bun (and scowling as Shisui tries to snag some). “There’s more in the pan - leave me alone.”

“Such a sourpuss, little cuz. How come yours is naked?”

“I don’t like sweets.”

“I dunno about that…”

A brow perks.

“I mean, you married one of the sweetest people around. Surely there's a part of you that likes it,” the eldest Uchiha teases, skirting Sasuke’s jabbing elbow at the joke.

Hinata, having missed the exchange, gives her husband a confused glance as she catches the tail end.

“Just...Shisui being Shisui,” he sighs, seeing her lighten in understanding. She knows well how the brothers’ cousin behaves by now.

Still...Sasuke supposes he has at least some kind of point.

Once everyone has their fill (Shisui indulging in a second bun), the rest give their thanks before heading back home. A few buns remain, tucked away as Hinata takes a turn to tidy up. “Well that was fun!” she chirps, washing the dishes as Sasuke moves to dry.

“Always good to get the family together,” he agrees. “Even if it’s just for a bit.”

“True...we’re all pretty busy. Lining things up isn’t easy...I’m surprised such an impromptu get-together worked!”

“Guess that craving of yours knew what it was doing.”

That earns a laugh. “I think you’re right!”

By then, it’s mid afternoon, and the pair pause to consider what to do with the remainder of their day off. “I guess I should mend that shirt of yours,” Hinata muses.

“Still can’t believe that guy got close enough to cut it.”

“At least it was just the shirt, and not you.”

“True.”

As Hinata sits with needle and thread, Sasuke takes to reviewing case reports, sending a few inquiries out by hawk to check on their status while he’s been off today. All in all...the rest of the day passes in quiet productivity before they break for supper.

“Well, not the most exciting day, but a good one nonetheless,” Hinata muses, nibbling at her dinner.

“Quiet days are good days.”

“Mm.”

Hinata indulges in one last bun before bed, crawling in beside her husband later that night with a yawn. She’ll have to see what she wakes up wanting to do tomorrow…!

     Yay for some fam jam fluff! Hinata can never resist a rising urge to make some sweets. And Sasuke lends a hand when he can, even if he's not the biggest fan of her sugary concoctions. It's still nice to do something...normal with his little wife. And it's even better when it brings the whole family around!      Anyway, I'm GOING TO CATCH UP TODAY. Last Night's Dream

(Morning of 2/23/18)

That hubby and I had a date night - or it might have been vacation sans kids - and we were at this bar & grill place that served lots of craft beers. I'm not a huge beer drinker IRL, but dream me couldn't decide between two beers so hubby was like "Just order both and try them!" Splendid idea! So I did just that.

While waiting, these two girls come in and they're really lively, talking to whoever they feel like and just being super outgoing and bubbly - dunno if it's genuine, they're fake af, or high at this point. The beer arrives and hubby and I test them out, sampling each other's as well and we're generally just having a good time (cause I learn we've renewed our vows to celebrate our anniversary and my mom has the kids for us). And then the girls make it to our table.

They start chatting and asking about the beer, so I let them try cause why not. So one girl is all "omg that's so delicious I want one!" And calls the server over to order what I have. We make light talk while she waits and they seem pretty cool. She gets her beer, manages to take a few sips, then hubby excuses himself to go to the bathroom.

When he leaves, the girls change and start picking at me, wondering why a man like that is with a woman like me - making fun of my glasses, my skin, my teeth. Then the girl dumps her beer on my head, calling me a fat pig and that I should leave cause it's disgusting having to look at me. She slams her cup down and they walk off laughing as hubby comes back. I am just stunned, like wtf, and on the verge of tears...

The staff member that saw it helps me clean up and hubby tries consoling me, but I'm just ready to go. He convinces me to stay anyway, and a bit later the girls come back through, only I disnt notice them until there's a collective gasp as they humiliate another woman. As they start walking away, I gw t to to intercept them and confront them, but a man stands up and calls them out, how he's seen them treat me that way and now his friend's girlfriend & who knows how many others. Mind you, I'm already almost there with hubby hot on my heels, as they've been stopped in their tracks.

Pulling the whiney "I don't have to listen to you" tantrum, complete with stomping feet, she turns to leave, grabbing her friend's arm. But there I am ready to confront. Instead she slinks over to hubby and tries hitting on him right in front of me. Then makes a move to grab his crotch, telling him he can do so much better when I snap. I grab her by the hair and drag her away before punching the shit out of her. I knock her over a table, literally kick her ass through the front door. I end up having to be forced away from her, and *we* get kicked out.

But the guy and his friends - including the other woman they targeted- stay with us. And we hit up other spots together with new friends. I don't remember what we did after that, but I do remember us going through a car wash in our SUV and one guy was freaking out cause he's never been through one???

So there's that at least.

I invited my current bf over for some video games (we had been dating for like a month maybe) and i thought "boy imma get stupid and put the moved on him" drank 2 things of box wine to myself (1 box is equal to 4 glasses of wine lol) ended up getting sick really fast and left my bf to watch my younger 2 siblings while i threw up. Thats all i remember. (I think i also tried to shave my legs?)
