Bujo for spoonies?
Punk bujo?
I'm an effort to put my life back together and recover from a major illness and massive emotional losses etc., I've started using some of the techniques I have seen in bullet journalling.
The problem with all the bujo ideas I see on Pinterest etc. is that they seem to put way too much emphasis on the aesthetic aspect of it. Like I get if people find the artistic side of bullet journalling rewarding, but I have limited manual dexterity and a tremor, so my pages are never going to be pretty. And I have limited energy and time, so I just can't put that much time and energy into creating something pretty. Also, all those flourishes and stuff take up a lot of space that I could be using for practical content! My tremor keeps me from being able to write small or neatly, so I need a lot of room. Like, I want my pages to be pleasing to the eye, but that's for usability reasons.
I also am really turned off my the obsession with productivity that I see in a lot of online bujo. It all seems to be about achieving more! Pushing yourself harder! Meeting goals! All these trackers and stuff seem to be designed to set up expectations for you to live up to. This is the exact opposite of what I'm striving for. I'm trying to learn to accept my limitations, stop pushing myself so hard, value myself even if I don't fill in all the little boxes
So I'm wondering, is there a spoonie bujo community? Like, bujo that recognizes that we don't all have the capacity to make our journals look like Live Laugh Love decals? That we don't all have the time/energy/motivation to fill in a load of trackers every day? Bujo that is badass instead of beautiful? Punk bujo?

KHOC Week Day 6 - Journal
This has been a prompt for @khoc-week that I've been so excited about. Hinata keeps journals of her adventures as a way to keep track of her memories. She's forgotten large chunks of her past before and wants to make sure that can never happen again.
Her journals, however, are a bit different from a normal diary. She writes them like a story and also draws pictures in them to show where she is. She's not an incredibly gifted artist, but learned a few things from her time with Namine.
This is an excerpt of her journal entry during a short stay on Montressor. In Chapter 41 of "The Forgotten Traveler", Hinata and her team find themselves back on Montressor in search of information on Sam's dad. It leads them back to the Benbow, where Sam's mom holds the missing piece.
The actual chapter was written from Sam's point of view, but this journal entry is Hinata's take on it all. I'll post the entire entry below:
----------------------------------
The Benbo Inn was filled with warmth and life. Sarah Hawkins always did have a way of making people feel welcome. She kept our booth open. I remember sitting there after my shift, or whenever Sam and James would come during my work day and convince me to take a break. Tonight though, it lacked the usual excitement it used to.
While the rest of the inn bustled and chatted, we were there for something different. Sam needed to talk with her mom. It wasn't going to be easy and it made me queasy to think about. Jenna was someone I couldn't figure out. Her eyes showed a vast emptiness, yet I could sense something deeper. It made me sad for her. Though I could understand the anger Sam held towards her. Two years of isolation… What could that do to someone? I went crazy during my month alone on Treasure Planet. Well, mostly alone.
As Ben and I took our seats, Sam went to her mom. Her words were short and terse, telling her they needed to talk after closing time, then she came back to the booth with us. I wish I could have said something to help. Part of me wished I could have taken care of the entire thing for her. But that wouldn't help anything. It was something she needed to face on her own.
Knowing that, I asked if she wanted us there during the discussion, which she said yes to. All that remained was for us to eat dinner and wait. But even with the great food from Sarah, I didn't have much of an appetite. Sam didn't seem to either. While Ben kept the conversation going, mostly with himself. I'm glad he was there.
It was agonizing to wait. I kept drumming my fingers against the table and I'm pretty sure my leg wouldn't stop shaking. Then closing time finally came. I helped Jenna and Sarah clean up. It was just like I was working there again. But then it was time to talk.
Jenna brought over a chair and carefully folded her apron over the back of it before she sat down. She sat on the edge, her back straight. It was like she was trying to seem stronger than she felt. Sam brought out a locket. It looked similar to mine but was made from a bluish metal. I didn't recognize the engraving on top, not that it entirely matters. Jenna seemed to though. I noticed her shifting in her seat at the sight of it. Did she know what was inside it?
Sam asked if she'd seen the vision and Jenna just nodded. Not a word came out of her. Sam continued to pry and Jenna's entire demeanor shifted. Her posture slumped and that distant glaze came back over her eyes. There was more to this. Even with the possibility of getting Jarith back, she didn't react. It only made her retreat further back into herself. What was really going on?
There was something deeper. Something even Sam didn't seem to understand and realize. The raw pain between them was palpable. It didn't take long for Sam to lose her temper. She slammed her hands against the table, demanding answers. Jenna begged her not to look into this and got up from her seat to leave.
I couldn't sit by anymore and got out of my seat, while Lupe took care of calming Sam down. Jenna could hardly stand. She leaned against the tables for support as she walked away. I moved to stand in front of her and all I saw was a broken woman. Everything she did… she abandoned her children when they needed her most, ignored them when they pleaded for help and even for something as simple as love, and locked herself away for nearly two years. Why didn't I share Sam's resentment towards her? There had to be more to it. More that we didn't understand about Jenna.
All I had to say to Jenna was acknowledge she was trying to protect Sam. She broke down. Sam was all she had left.
Sam cried that if that was the case, why did she never care?
It was a valid question. One Jenna didn't have an answer to. Whatever is going on with her, maybe Jarith will have the answer. We have to find him.
Lupe and I calmed Jenna down enough to let Sam back in for another chance to talk. We promised her that we'd get him back… Maybe that was a foolish thing to promise, but it seemed like the only choice at the time. I know I'll do everything in my power to do it. We all will.
Sam tried again. She knelt in front of Jenna and offered the locket once more. She pleaded softly, begging for any information about her dad. And Jenna did… she told us the name Glee Anselm. That's where we'll find Sam's dad.
We have quite the journey ahead of us.

183. “You sure you want to stay? There’s a heroes welcome waiting for the man who discovered Atlantis.”
184. “I don’t think the world needs another hero.”
185. “Let’s go over it again, just so we got it straight. You didn’t find anything?”
186. “I hope this piece of proof is enough for you.”

For the 30 years old ask meme, could I ask: 8, 13, 15, 18, 36, 41, and 62 please? (I promise I restrained myself 🙈 I'm just very curious) -☆
thanks friend~
8. What cleaning product do you swear by? i am not a person who has strong feelings about cleaning products, except i prefer not to use antibacterial handsoap on a regular basis in the home environment…seems like tempting fate. if i had to pick something i guess i'd say detergent for washing dishes by hand, because i use it more than anything else probably.
13. Which filter are you most likely to go "eh, it's probably fine" when you find out you need to change it? the air conditioner. i clean it once a year…most years.
15. Do you go down each aisle when you grocery shop, or only the ones you know you need stuff from? only the ones i know i need stuff from! yesterday i went to a grocery store i don't usually go to because i'm not in my neighborhood at the moment, and it was such a frustrating experience because i had to go down every aisle multiple times, not knowing where anything was. hate that. i am in and out at my regular grocery store. i am here to get the stuff on my premade list and then get the fuck outta dodge.
18. Pro or anti tchotchkes? they don't really do anything for me from a visual perspective, because everything in my line of sight becomes invisible to me after a short period of time. (i have seen this called "visual exhaustion", but when i look up that term i just get results for eye strain, so maybe that's not an official term lol.) so having a bunch of small items in my vicinity ultimately just means there are more things to get dusty and for me to not even notice getting dusty until we are at critical levels.
36. Do you keep a daily journal or agenda? i keep a weekly agenda, which is structured as a table where the columns are the days of the week Mon-Sun and the rows are things like "french", "book", "puzzles", "social", "shower", "chores", etc. and then for every day i write down the initials of the french-language book i'm currently reading in the french row, the initials of whatever other book i'm currently reading in the book row, whatever task i need to do for my newspaper puzzles, and so forth. there isn't always something in every cell - for example if i have more than four days with something in the "social" row (which includes phone calls), i am in trouble because i don't have the bandwidth for that lol. then on the far side of the page i keep a running list of things i need to do at some point but don't plan to work on in the current week, so i don't lose track of them. i used to keep a daily journal but it petered off several months ago when i realized 1) i was running out of space for all my old journals, 2) there were so many it was prohibitively difficult to actually refer back to them for any reason, since just finding the relevant entry could take hours unless i already happened to know what date to look for, and 3) it was taking up time and also depressing me. lol. problems 1 and 2 would be solved by keeping a digital journal rather than a handwritten one, but that's never appealed to me. so now the only thing i write down is how much i slept, how heavy my menstruation was, and (only if they were notably unusual) how my mood and appetite were.
41. What's the oldest thing you own? the last time i thought this over i concluded it was a copy of a connecticut yankee in king arthur's court, and i haven't come up with anything else. i don't remember exactly how old it is. from the early 1900s maybe?
62. Where are you on the minimalism-maximalism kinsey scale? hm idk really. as stated before, i got the ol' "this sign can't stop me because i cease to even notice it if it's been on the wall for more than one hour" disease. so you could go all out and cover a room in all sorts of shit and i would enjoy the aesthetic and think it looks neat right up until i would never see it again, which would be very soon. so it kinda comes out to a wasted effort for me. however, on the other hand i can't say i'm a minimalist person either, because if you put me in a bare bones room with two sticks of furniture, within half an hour i'll have covered every space with bags and books and assorted papers and devices that i am planning to use throughout the course of the next few days and not even notice how cluttered i have made it due to the aforementioned visual exhaustion thing. so yeah. i have no idea. i do enjoy looking at pictures of maximalist decor though, and last year i visited a friend of a friend whose house was THE most intensely decorated place i had ever seen and i thought it was amazing. but if we're talking my own living space or anywhere i will be spending any amount of time, it does not and cannot matter.
#if i rb an ask meme it's because i want to procrastinate or am lonely so i appreciate you asking :D#asks#not anon#visual exhaustion#<-this is the tag i use for it but again apparently no one else calls it this lol#i don't know what it is called though so for now that's my term for it#i have to have a row for 'shower' otherwise i will just straight up forget to shower. because i don't have a practice of showering every da#things i do consistently every day aren't usually on here unless they're time-consuming and would give me satisfaction to cross off#i like this method because it gives me an easy way to 1) see how much i have going on in a single day (so i can then be like wow today#is really busy already i better put this other stuff down on another day) and 2) see how long it's been since i e.g. took a shower lol#at the end of the day everything in the column for that day is either crossed off or erased and moved to a future day#so stuff doesn't fall by the wayside#except the stuff i write on the side to do another week does kind of end up becoming subject to the same 'if i sees it no i didns't'#problem. if it's on there for long enough it becomes gibberish to me and i stop thinking of it as something i actually have to do

2. "I walked the land telling whores and liars of the End to come. There are 9,855 days remaining."
KIM KITSURAGI - "Cool. I'm glad you joined us. Not a lot of money in doomcrying... Let's move on, shall we?"
This next row -- the one that wraps all the way around -- is your number of closed cases. *Closed* is good. It means finished. You've got, let's see…"
"Wow, more than 200!"
"Is that a lot?"
"I would have thought there'd be more."
KIM KITSURAGI - "It's *quite* a lot, even for someone who's been on the force for nearly two decades. Usually clearing more than 10 cases a year puts you in the 90th percentile of *all* RCM officers..."
"See, Kim? I *told* you I was a superstar cop!"
"I used to be good. That's some solace I guess. What's the last number?"
"I don't think I can ever *re-become* this person... What's the last number?"
KIM KITSURAGI - "Call it what you want. You were a valuable member of your precinct. Now, let's look at the last row..."
"Right. Those are your confirmed kills. You've got precisely *three* perforations there."
"So I'm a killer..."
"I was expecting a higher number, honestly."
"That's not... too many."
KIM KITSURAGI - "For an RCM officer -- especially Precinct 41, which is in the Jamrock Quarter -- it's rather... tame. I mean that in a good way."
ESPRIT DE CORPS [Challenging: Success] - "What's it feel like to kill a man, Mr. McCoy?" a young woman asks the man across the desk from her...
Honestly, babe," says John McCoy, crossing his ankles over said desk, "I don't feel anything anymore. It's just like brushing my teeth -- I do it once or twice a week and don't really think about it." There's no trace of guilt in his voice.
KIM KITSURAGI - "There are certain officers who treat their kills like some kind of ghoulish game. If they do happen to *solve* a case it's usually by accident." It's obvious the lieutenant doesn't think very highly of these officers...
"But it seems as though you are, or at least *were*, one of the good ones. So we have that to be thankful for."
"Have you ever killed anyone, Kim?"
"How do you handle the strain?"
"Thanks for this." (Conclude.)
KIM KITSURAGI - "Yes," he says, declining to elaborate.
EMPATHY [Medium: Success] - It's not a problem for him to state it, however.
2. "How do you handle the strain?"
KIM KITSURAGI - "Everyone has their own method of coping, some more effective, or self-destructive, than others..." He gives you a meaningful look.
"Personally, I find it helps to keep up a few hobbies."
"Like what?"
"Maybe I should find a hobby?"
"Hobbies are lame."
KIM KITSURAGI - "Oh, this and that. Let's not get into it now."
"Maybe I should find a hobby?"
KIM KITSURAGI - Why not gardening? You've already got the gloves..." He points to your yellow gardening gloves.
Oh yeah, we're still wearing those.
ESPRIT DE CORPS [Medium: Success] - It's meant in earnest. Please don't mistake it for a jab.
3. "Thanks for this." (Conclude.)
KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant nods.
3. "Okay, let's go." [Put the ledger away.]
KIM KITSURAGI - "Right. I'll go turn off the lights..." He presses a remote control on the key.

Excerpts from the journal of John MacTavish. If found, return to 22nd SAS regiment, Credenhill, UK. (Part 1. Part 2. Part 3)
Page 1.
I should be dead.
There’s no cutting around the edge on this one. I should be fucking dead and I’m fucking well aware of it.
The doctors aren’t being kind about it either. “Medical miracle”, they keep saying. “Impressed that I didn’t code for longer”, they keep saying. As if constantly hearing about how I was clinically dead for a period of time is motivating…
I try to hide it whenever Ghost or Gaz drop by, but it’s not easy. The only thing motivating me right now is anger.
Page 2 – 12.
[ A varying collection of a number of sketches ranging from stupid sexy nurses, idle sketches of hospital food, Tic-Tac-Toe games, and a hang-man game. ]
Page 20.
[ A clipping from a news article about the “thwarted terrorist attempt in London” with a shaky scrawl next to it that says “I don’t feel much like a hero.” ]
Page 35.
Constant rehab and surgery doesn’t leave for much time to update this stupid thing. Dunno if that’s good or bad, but guess I’ll find out soon enough.
They finally assigned me a therapist, so guess I’ll be made to talk about this soon enough. I can’t say I’m excited about it… I was fine trying to pretend it all away…
Guess not.
Page 38-40.
[ Three of the same sketches, but different at the same time. The first one is largely from memory, of what he could remember of when Makarov held the gun at his face. The second appears to be the same, except this time one holding the gun is wearing a baseball cap. The third, a mask with a skull. The lines on it are hard, a sign of the frustration and anger held behind its meaning. ]
Page 41.
Finding out real quick that the downside to keeping a journal is that it makes for an easy target for therapy. Dr. Jane wanted to press today on how the drawings mean I blame Kyle and Simon, wanted to talk about how the dreams shifting mean I’m not letting it go.
Can’t really let it go, even when I think I can. But it wasn’t fair of me to yell at her… guess I was just embarrassed to find out I’m still a bit angry with them.
I should apologize next session.
Page 42 – 46.
[ A number of various other doodles, though they appear to be increasingly stranger and darker. Some idle scrawling here and there, detailing increasingly unhinged plans with the words “STAY SAFE” written in large letters on the last page. ]
Page 50.
I apologized to Dr. Jane this time. For a shrink, she’s surprisingly understanding, but I guess she’s dealt with worse patients than me. Can see why Laswell married her.
Today was a thought exercise on what could’ve been different. It felt a bit like Simon lecturing me back in Al Mazrah on choices, but I get what she was getting at… or at least I think I do, anyways. If I did kill him, would we have even had enough time to disarm the bombs?
Would the police force we went with lived?
Would things have been different if I shot him four years ago?
She’s definitely given me a lot to think about…

LOCH NESS, Scotland — The legend of the Loch Ness Monster has fascinated generations of curious minds. This weekend, 90 years after its first modern supposed sighting, enthusiasts descended again on this picturesque lake in a quiet corner of the Scottish Highlands in the hopes of turning myth into reality.
Organizers billed the past weekend as the largest organized “Nessie” hunt for 50 years.
And the hunters came armed with high-tech help: sonars for mapping the lake bed, thermal-imaging drones for scanning the surface and hydrophones to hear strange sounds from the depths.
The events were even opened to the global public — hundreds were invited to a live stream of the water’s surface to add more eyes to the search.
But even with all the machines and added manpower, the gathering at Loch Ness was as much about reviving old lore as settling hard science. Organizers said they planned the weekend to excite interest in the legend among a new generation of Nessie hunters.
“It’s about inspiration,” said Alan McKenna, the head of Loch Ness Exploration, an independent research group based on the lake’s shores that planned the event as a kind of call for volunteers. “For very selfish reasons I don’t want the Loch Ness mystery or interest in Loch Ness itself to diminish in any way whatsoever at all.”
Those “selfish” reasons don’t include a commercial motive, said McKenna, who added that he is also an unpaid volunteer. Though the legend could bring in as much 41 million pounds (about $52 million) each year to Scotland’s economy, according to one 2018 study reported by Scotland's Press and Journal newspaper, enthusiasts like McKenna say the search is really just about having fun, keeping faith and exploring the natural world.
Like the surface of a lake, the Loch Ness legend seems to reflect the hopes of those who gaze into it.
“I think she has babies and she’s looking after them right now,” said Alba Sydow, 8, as she surveyed the loch with her parents from the Deepscan, one of the organizers’ search boats. “So that’s why she’s hiding from us.”
Alba’s father Malcolm Begg, 47, a pharmaceutical company employee, had his own remarkably specific ideas about the monster.
“I think it’s like a diplodocus with fins,” he said, referring to a Jurassic-era dinosaur while lamenting that most images of the monster have been too grainy to discern a definitive shape.
The focus of the two-day event was at the Loch Ness Centre, which organized the proceedings in partnership with Loch Ness Exploration, a voluntary research team. The recently renovated center is housed in a former hotel where Aldie Mackay, a hotel employee, sighted a “beast” or “whale-like fish” in 1933, the first modern “sighting” of the monster that set off the global phenomenon.
But the legend dates back to writings from the seventh century in which an Irish monk reported having encountered a “water beast” that had mauled a swimmer.
Nessie has been so popular for so long, her myth can sometimes feed herself (if, like Alba, you imagine the monster as female).
Alistair Matheson, the skipper of the Loch Ness Centre’s Deepscan search boat that trolled the lake with volunteer searchers like Alba, showed how the boat’s sonar technology had recently spotted a perfect outline of a huge Nessie-shaped monster.
But the shape on Matheson’s radar screen turned out to be a sunken Nessie model that had been made for a movie about the monster and then abandoned at the bottom of the lake.
Even the Loch Ness Centre’s logo — the instantly recognizable picture of a sort of humped eel cruising through waves on the lake’s surface — comes from a fuzzy 1934 black-and-white photo that was later proven to be fake.
Still, Matheson describes himself as a “believer,” though he imagines the monster as “something from this earth or something a bit more realistic” than some kind of ancient, alien or supernatural being. Scientists have speculated that the sightings could be huge catfish or giant eels.
But short of emptying the entire lake, Matheson said nothing will ever truly disprove a legend that has become a matter of faith for so many.
“People come here, they’re desperate, they’re looking, they’re searching,” he said. “And they really, really want to be able to hope that there is something that us humans, you know, we think we can know everything, to an extent.”
The weekend in the Scottish Highlands attracted some for whom Nessie is more of a vocation than a hobby.
Ken Gerhard, an American cryptozoologist who researches and writes about “animals” like bigfoot, Chupacabra and Mothman that live on the fringes of our known reality, traveled to Scotland from the states just for the event.
“I’m 90% convinced she exists,” said Gerhard, who also seemed to believe in the monster’s femininity. “I’ve never had a sighting or an observation, but if you immerse yourself in the evidence, you have over a thousand good sightings that are very consistent.”
Beyond the shaky photographic “proof,” believers’ primary argument in favor of Nessie’s existence is that the lake’s immense size and dark, peaty waters make it impossible to rule out the existence of even a large creature.
Several volunteers mentioned that Loch Ness contains more water than all of the lakes of England and Wales combined.
Indeed, McKenna said they had heard some “fantastic bizarre” sounds on Friday, but unfortunately the recording equipment hadn’t been plugged in.
“It may well be gas escaping from the bottom of the loch,” he said. “It could be an animal.”
“Of course it could be the elusive Loch Ness Monster,” he added.
So if any of the attendees were expecting this weekend to yield a revelation, they went home disappointed.
Nobody found the monster — but maybe that was never the point.
For many, this was a pilgrimage of faith — a kind of rejoinder to the high-tech dictates of hard facts that have left us so little room for magic and mystery.
“I think there’s always going to be a small part of me that wants to believe,” said Craig Whitefield, 29, a medical administrator from Scotland who spent the weekend scanning the lake’s surface with binoculars.
Like other volunteers, Whitefield said that only emptying one of the largest lakes in the world and checking every nook and cranny of the lake bed would satisfy his curiosity.
“It’s the same with every legend out there,” he said. “It just takes one person to believe and it just continues.”

50 things I probably won't get done before 50
Let's face it, I've been working on varying versions of this list for 12 years. I've never come close to hitting my goal. BUT I have done a whole bunch of things I've always wanted to do, that I probably never would have done other wise, so whether or not I reach the goal, I think this is a good thing to keep going.
I went right back to the original list, and am combining it with all the iterations from over the years. I'm also adding in my travel goals. I always kept them separate because I didn't have the money to travel, and wanted to keep my list achievable, but I'm not as concerned about hitting every goal any more, and also, if I don't travel by 50, then when?
I've made a separate list for the things I've done too, to remind myself of what I have accomplished. The items I removed from the list because I really don't think it's possible, or care if I achieve it, I'm putting back in as bonus goals... they don't need to count, but maybe the opportunity will come up, who knows? 4, 5, 7, 11, 17, 36, 41, 49, and 69 for the 30s asks, please?
4. Favorite chore?
Hmm...maybe laundry? It's fast, it's easy, and it makes the clothes smell really nice. And then I can listen to something while folding and putting away. Hanging up and taking down laundry was always one of my primary chores growing up (we didn't have a dryer), and I always liked it then as well.
5. Least favorite chore?
Dish-washing, easily. No matter how high or low the sink is, my back just screams at me in five minutes flat when I wash the dishes. I always end up splashing around quite a bit because I try to rush through them as fast as possible so I can stop bending over and go recover for an hour x.x
7. Any groceries you've been getting into lately?
Related to my answer for number 4, I recently tried out a new kind of Gain pods for my laundry. The pretty lavender lid on the container caught my eye, so since they didn't have the Midnight Breeze scent I'd been using, I decided I'd try Dewdrop Dream. And I don't think I'm ever going to buy anything else, because this smells fantastic!
11. What's something you saved up for and then regretted buying?
Back when I was having really really bad stiff necks and headaches, I bought I shiatsu neck massager, which you could drape behind your neck and turn on, and it would heat up and move these ball-like things in circular motions like a massage. It cost a pretty penny, but it didn't help anything, and it was really painful besides. It was sitting on my shelf for years, gathering dust, until we were getting rid of stuff in preparation for our recent move. So off to the thrift store it went. Hopefully someone else out there will get some use out of it.
17. What's a movie you saw recently that you liked?
Inside Out 2! I finally managed to see it last week, and it was everything I could have hoped it to be! :') I love the first Inside Out inordinately, and always cry like a baby at the end. There's no way the sequel could live up to that, but it came really really close! I still cried, I still laughed at all the clever puns and was engaged the whole time. And I loved Embarrassment so much <3 Pixar really knows how to make good sequels!
36. Do you keep a daily journal or agenda?
No, that makes everyday life feel too much like school. I get enough nightmares about that kind of thing as it is! Since I'm such an excessive homebody who rarely has anywhere to go, I can usually keep it all in my head, or just rely on sticky notes at my desk. Though recently we've taken to putting a whiteboard on the fridge with all of our schedules for the week so we can keep track of it all.
41. What's the oldest thing you own?
Hmm...maybe my dresser? I think my mom said it was the one she had growing up, but I might be thinking of my sister's dresser and mine is my aunt's.
49. Do you bring a bag with you everywhere you go?
Other than my purse, no. I am not the mom friend, sorry ^^'
69. What are you looking forward to next week?
MY NEW MATTRESS!!!!! 8D It's supposed to get delivered on Tuesday, I think, and I'm so excited I could cry. My lower back has been killing me every night for the past six months, rarely letting me get more than five hours of uninterrupted sleep at a time, and I just hope it's the fault of my thirteen-year-old mattress and not something more serious T_T
30-somethings asks
#ask and you shall receive#valiantarcher#you always give me so many questions to answer archer! bless you <3#i always say my bad back is twice as old as the rest of me#which would make it 66 so no wonder everything i do makes it scream to be released from this mortal coil x.x

Learning Activity 3.5, Task 4: What do I believe in?
Schools are designated to educate students on necessary knowledge and skills that will later benefit them in life, but besides those purposes, they are also obligated to create a safe learning environment. Since students are within campus, their safety and health should be a top priority, it is an obligation to protect them from any acts of discrimination. I believe that it is mandatory for schools to have discrimination policy, or set of regulations that protects students from being bullied or harassed. No one should ever feel uncomfortable in an inclusive learning environment, where it is meant to provide what students had paid for: Good education. Moreover, it is a human right to be treated with equal respect and have access to basic necessities such as learning in school.
Students of ethnic minorities background, disabilities, LGBTQ+ are most likely to be targeted in school violence, these policies are built to penalise perpetrators. Discrimination policies should serve not only as protection for students, but also a system of counselling and guidance. In the 2020 - 2021 education year, there has been a report of 1,198 cases of racially motivated bullying in Scottish schools (Sapouna, n.d), 44% of LGBTQ+ fifteen to seventeen age group in the European Union felt like their rights were rarely or never supported in school (UNESCO, 2023). And additionally, 41% of students who had been bullied indicated that they think bullying would happen again (National Center of Educational Studies, 2019). In my opinion, any forms of discrimination stemmed from personal prejudice and ignorance. I believe that schools should take responsibility for more coverage on racial history, sexualities, and build inclusive education for students with disabilities. Moreover, staff members should be aware and keep an eye for bullying or harassment throughout campus. Discrimination policies include not hindering any students the chance to access education, providing counselling for those who need it, and maintaining strict punishments for those who violate the policies. Punishment can range from detention to suspension depending on severity of the issues, staff members are also obligated to report any cases of discrimination if they witness it on campus. Moreover, in my opinion it includes penalising bystanders who knew of the bullying and did not report it to an adult.
In conclusion, I think one of the most important regulations that all schools should make mandatory is the discrimination policies. To be harassed or prevented from accessing benefits like school, workforces, restaurants, is a violation to human rights. I believe that education institutions should aim to tackle social issues and by influencing students towards the right part, we can build a more progressive society in the future. I, myself, have witnessed bullying in my school and most of the times, victims are too scared to report the situation so it remains unsolved. Incidents like this can cause stress and traumatic effect on student’s psyche, discrimination policies should assure students that any forms of harassment will not go unpunished. Victims of past bullying should feel safe knowing that it won't happen again, therefore why I think it is so important to implement these policies.

And the world continues to spin. That is very hyperbolic for a person that has no real problems. As of right now. My current life consist of going to work 5 days a week and taking care of patients. They are not sick they are just injured. So that much is nice. I am attempting to learn to breath before I panic. This morning when I woke up I looked and was paid for my job and the first 1/2 of the paycheck had been deposited but the bulk had not. So this had happened before and my actual payday isn't until the 20th anyway. I decided not to panic and start reacting but instead see where everything settled. I did and the rest of the funds materialized like normal.
I am attempting to be less reactionary. I am trying to be more centered in who I am and what I do. There is a time and a place for action but that is once you actually know what is going on in a situation and not assuming what is going on. I feel like I do need to keep an ear out for new work. I may reach out to old co-workers and just see how things are going. I'm not sure just yet but it is good to have options open.
I have ideas swirling in my head for things to do in my zombie story but I have not had the time or inclination to implement them. I have an exam due today and I still need to study some more on that. I think I will do fine. I am understanding the material I believe but it is not sticking as well as I would like. Then there is still part of me that would like to learn how to code. I think I will try that during the summer break. Although I should just take some classes at Brookhaven to get them though with as well. I could do the history and language classes there. I think it would be cheaper and easier. I want to get into my creative writing classes but as a sophomore I have a few more credits to get out of the way.
I have not been great on my diet. I have been snacking and I didn't bring anything to eat with me today. So there is some pizza in the fridge so I might just go for that later today. We have a toaster oven here anyway so maybe it won't be so bad. Is 5 day old pizza still good? I am sure it's fine.
As with all of my journaling I will inevitably fall to the video games I happen to be playing at the time. I will be honest as a 41 year old nerd I don't have a lot going on in my life. So I am now working through yakuza 3. I have gotten to the point where I think I am almost to the final confrontation. I am going back and getting all of the revelations that I had missed before I realize now I think I could have gotten them the whole time but this is where we are. Yakuza 0,1,2, and 6 are all on special with xbox right now. I think I am going to go spend 20 bucks on them and play though all of them. I kinda wish there was a little more RPG going on but it's still fun stuff. I have not gotten into the mini games that much but Haruka did just beat my ass in bowling. I will report back later.

Michaela lost 50 pounds
Transformation of the Day: Michaela lost 50 pounds. She was on a mission to regain her confidence after two pregnancies back-to-back. Prayer, food journaling, and intermittent fasting are all part of her success plan.
Social Media: Instagram: @michaela0811 Tiktok: Michaela081181
Age: 41 years old Location: Chicago, IL Weight then: 182 pounds Weight now: 132 pounds Height: 5’1″
What was your motivation? My motivation to lose weight was to rebuild my confidence after having two kids back-to-back.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up? During the times when I thought about giving up, I thought about other women in the world who were out there working towards the same goal but who was much larger than I was.
How did you change your eating habits? When I began my journey on Jan. 1, 2022, I started by praying and asking God to help me eat foods that nourished my body. I stopped drinking and started journaling what I ate every day. After a few months, I incorporated intermittent fasting (16:8), which I still stick to today to maintain the weight loss.
Tell us about your workout routine. I committed to 2 hours of cardio per week and praised myself for how much I accomplished daily.
How long did your transformation take? It took nine months to lose 50 lbs after trying this journey for the 3rd time.
Is weight loss surgery part of your story? Weight-loss surgery was not a part of my journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far? The biggest lesson I have learned so far is consistency drives results.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight? My advice is never to look back. Keep moving forward and forgive yourself through the process. Every day you try is a successful day!!

Finding your feet in the internship: induction, and completing initial tasks
As soon as I arrived to Fox Footy, I immediately felt welcomed and Lynne ensured that I was introduced to all sections of the office and staff. I was introduced to the systems that Fox Footy use to source their vision for promotions, regular shows (AFL360) and overlay. IPD contains more recent games and cut up vision and Flex contains vision from up to 10 years ago. I can already see that the internship is going to be very diverse and that I will be able to get a taste of the different facets and roles that bring a broadcast to life.
Very early on in the piece, I was able to be on the floor for the taping of AFL360. Rob the floor manager was able to walk me through how the show appears flawless on TV, but how there are so many different moving parts to ensure that the overlay comes on at the right time or the camera is prepared for a certain angle for the shot. I am really excited to keep peeling the onion to see how how the producers select certain topics for the show and how the agenda is set. Scully Russ & Torraco (2019), have both found that diversity in the workplace is becoming a key factor in staff happiness and permanency in work.
I have already been able to see how a broadcast of a live game is shot from the ground. The critical role of the producer and director has been showcased and I have seen how important timing is to the overall broadcast.
The one part of the experience so far that was daunting, was the amount of hours and nights that I was working. Acclimatising to this new way of working is something that will take time to get used to. The pace that work needs to be completed & how quickly things move is also a challenge for me so far. Learning the common phrases and language will also take some time. At this point in the internship, I am predominately shadowing and listening to those that have plenty of experience in their roles. I have been given the chance to sit in on an AFLW talent meeting, giving me a taste of what is expected of those in front of the camera and how those behind it can have the production running as smooth as possible.
In the discussion I have had with Lynne have indicated that I will be exposed to more live matches and I will get to experience how games are broadcast on Fox when they are channel 7 exclusive matches. There are also some events coming up which I will be able to shadow crew for, which will take me out of my comfort zone.

Above: The Studio Floor for AFL360. Rob the floor manager is the unsung hero of the show!
