let’s talk fat!momo because fuck her og design
-to prefece this analysis/rant i have only read the first 4 manga but i have read enough bnha fanfiction over the last three years to kill a man so take this with a grain of salt-
.♡♡.﹀﹀﹀﹀.♡♡.﹀﹀﹀﹀.♡♡.﹀﹀﹀﹀.♡♡.﹀﹀﹀﹀.♡♡.﹀﹀﹀﹀.♡♡.
she would at least have some chub are you kidding me her whole quirk relies on using her fat stores aka the thing cushioning her body so she doesn’t get horribly injured sooo:
get this girl a fucking meal plan! a dietitian she can afford it she’s rich rich like what she should keep fat rich snacks on her person especially in her hero costume in like a fanny pack something with a lot of fat that’s easy to eat quickly like full fat yogurt pouches, nut butter packets, baby bells, lots of full fat dairy and desserts
How fast is her metabolism? How easily can she keep fat on her body?
One of her side effects is anemia. I used to be anemic and that shit fucks u up makes u dizzy, light headed, blacks ur vision out, makes u pass out and super tired so its vvv important that shes eating!! also it could get worse on her period so get her on birth control if she's not already and iron supps! Make sure her foods are also iron rich in addition to the fats
SHE SHOULD INTERN WITH FATHUM AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL!! like are you kidding me uwabami is fine but she’s just fine momo is rich rich like rich rich so i’m assuming she already has media training and fatgums quirk revolves around his size and his diet both things that momo needs to learn to deal with!!
also her costume her fucking costume and don’t start with that “but she needs a lot of skin for her quirk” bs there are other options for her quirk that don’t rely on the fan service of a 15 year old TEENAGER are you kidding me - give her like a poncho or straps or buckles fucking something besides a boob window are u seriously implying that she gets fat from her boobs how does that even work? is that safe? how are her boobs still so big if she’s making bombs with them?!?!? all quality questions i don’t have answers to
costume made out of skin so she can have coverage but still quirk. lemillion’s costume for example is made out of his hair. That wouldn't work for momo but couldnt u make like a twisted ver of that with her fat or skins cells?
science to use her cells to make more fat —> lab grown fat cells?
mix of cells and fabric!!
tunic/poncho: cons = could get caught on something/pulled on by enemy - strangled, pros = could pull stuff out of tunic - more coverage
What parts of skin does she use the most? Everybody's bodies are different but most people gain fat on their thighs, butt and midsection so focusing her costume on the accessibility of those areas would be good.
That is an early ver of momos' costume! I like it way better because say it with me folks NO BOOB WINDOW! i love that her tummy is still exposed so she can create bigger objects and her shorts are longer still short so theres access to her lower thighs! and the pouches for her snacks! i wish we had kept this
#bnha#mha#boku no hero academia#my hero academia#momo yaoyorozu#yaomomo#fat!yaomomo#hero costume#rant#fandom rant#bnha costume#i have a lot of rage and most of it is because of momos costume#i know she chose it for herself but i also feel like as she and her quirk grows and changes she would want other options#its also just not safe more skin means less protection from the elements and villains!#not edited#seriously my grammer is shit

i present my stupidly long reactions/opinions post to all of natla. i wrote it all as i watched, and i got more and more words in my head as i went, so it gets long. no i will not be editing this. i am not a review blog, i just have opinions ajhgsfjkf
ep 1 good: -gyatso. i love him so much -overall this was a good enough intro, but not much really stood out to me as good?? it's. kind of a weak intro asjdhgsfh
bad: -fire nation helmets trying to look a little less dopey by adding angles to the eye sockets is stupid af. like i can understand why they might have thought the circle eyes looked dopey, but personally, it felt eery and othering to me, like there aren't people behind those masks. also it's closer to a skull motif than the weird angular half cirlce shape. -aang being able to basically superman fly?? and hover?? it looks really weird, and i also kinda breaks some potential future plots?? like, he can just. hover up into the air and fly away without his staff. and they seemed to have replaced aang's jumping with it. now he just starts hovering. -i dont like that katara doesn't bend aang out of the ice in rage. i dont really care about sokka dropping the blatant sexism, but i still think they should've been fighting about SOMETHING. even without the comparison of their jobs at home, they already had something to bicker about before losing the boat, they should've kept that up. katara's angry bending was such a good way to communicate her character as well as show viewers her raw power and that bending is effected by emotions, i really dont like that they dropped it. -there's a heavy lean into sokka's relationship with aang that's probaly a result of the writers knowing how much the fandom loves sokka lately, but also. it really feels like it's overshadowing katara's role in aang's new life. like, if i hadn't seen the original show, i would assume that the main relationship is aang and sokka from this episode.
overall a servicable intro i guess, but i was. boring. it was really boring asjhgsfh
ep 2 good: -zuko is an artist and they stole his fucking journal im screamin. this is so funny. he's so mad that he lost his fckin diary and aang is using it to figure out his next steps. im just. i love this -actually really liked that waterbending scroll as a gift from gran gran, it makes it a lot more personal and very smoothly sidesteps the original plot for the scroll, which you gotta admit is a lot of screentime that they dont have -sokka trying to impress and relate to suki and looking like a gotdamn fool while doing it. he's fucking smitten. i love this. AND SUKI STARING AT HIM WITH HIS SHIRT OFF LATER. yeah. yeah i like this better than the original episode actually -sokka's dialogue overall is amazing, mostly because he's funny. the funny dialogue is overall pretty good i my opinion. which leads into a bad point: most of the serious and heartfelt dialogue feels pretty unnatural. the actors are overall pretty inexperienced, but the script is doing them no favors
bad: -Lt. Jee has a topknot. how fukcing dare they -they just used "VIP" in a sentence. i dont like the acknowledgment of a latin alphabet. why do they have an acronym for an english phrase using the latin alphabet when we've seen no latin letters anywhere -aang meeting with kyoshi first was fun, but the weird filter they have over the spirit world (?)/the whole scene genuinely makes it hard to look at -NO UNAGI??????? NONE??? NOT A SINGLE GIANT EEL FISH???? -did momo just make a chimpanzee sound. im going. to lose it.
neutral: -zuko and iroh don't know zhao yet… that's fucking wack
a MUCH better episode than the first one, this actually got me excited for stuff
ep 3 good: -love this internal resistence. very cool aspect to explore that i think the main show was missing -CABBAGE MERCHANT -fire nation terrorists in omashu is kind of terrifying. i like it -ok the casting and costume design for the freedom fighters is actually spot on, i love it. also jet's weapon use is so faithful to the original, it's gorgeous -OOOOOOH, sokka's warrior vs engineer, hakoda vs machanist father figure is so good, i love this -THAT FUCKIN LADY WHO JUST STARTED SMACKING ZUKO. im fuckin choking -i did actually really like the fight scene between all the cloths and scaves and stuff, it was short but it was fun. honestly i love every zuko and aang in this episode, it's very good
bad: -did. did they say attitude control on the airship? …did they mean altitiude control…? is attitude a common problem with airships?? (maybe it is, idk shit about air travel terms. mybe attitiude means something else entirely. but i don't think so) -WHy. why are the fire nation spies wearing RED. wh
neutral: -putting teo and the mechanist ("sai" now) in omashu is a pretty decent way to combine plots, but im not sure if i like that it probably wont get aang's grief over his cultural home being changed and partially desstroyed. i always thought that was a super important to aang's character, but also the narrative does have other chances to lean into aang's cultural grief -putting JET in omashu. that's a choice. -Lt. Jee as an informant for zhao… that's wack
side note, this is the point where i really started to notice that the music is… boring. it's super boring. we go from what feels like basically background noise style western orchestral music which really isn't that notable to the credit role remaster, and it's jsut so jarring. have they not been using the og soundtrack?? i can remember hearing the fire nation motif, but like… not much else. might need to go back and listen. what's the point of remastering the soundtrack if you aren't gonna use it?
ep 4 good: -FLOPSY STATUES -im lovin zuko's infiltration thing, it's amusing to watch. but also, maybe a bad point, cuz he's not… very good at it. blue spirit who?? i suppose needinng to talk to people lowers his stealth exponentionally. there's a reason the blue spriit doesn't talk. im leaving this point here cuz im having fun, but it's still got problems -OOOOH they're using this as the iroh captured and zuko choosing to sasve him or find aang, that's clever. the whole "make a choice" thing from that guard was a bit on the nose though. -sokka and katara bonding and chatting about expectations is great. i really like them bonding a lot. HOWEVEER. there is a LOT of focus on sokka's burdens, we haven't once touched on what katara's been doing. this is. an unforseen consequence of removing sokka's (blatant) sexism, isn't it. they cant figure out how to give katara's role the same amount of value without someone to act like it isn't important.
bad: -the implication that sokka is scared of haunted tunnels. why would he be scared, this bitch does not believe in spirit nonsense. unless he does now. natla sokka is supersticious. -i really dont like the mad hatter's tea party vibe from bumi. like, bumi was always off his rocker, but this brand of kooky feels off. -while i like the conversation of soka not trusting katara, i really dont like the seeming personality reversal in the tunnel. it's minor, but it's just so weird to see sokka sasy stuff like "woo love leads the way" without mocking it, and katara beig the one who says that's stupid. -how did they manange to make zuko look older for his flashback. good lord. oh no. -bumi: "you vs me, to the death." im fucking. im so done. i hate this bumi i hate him. i understand him being upset that aang vanished, but he is so fucking mean in this. -ok i. do not like them giving the zhao v zuko agni kai ending to iroh. i really dont like that at all. we lose the point of zhao being a fuckin bastard, about zuko being the type to give mercy (which the show has already thrown out twice now from zuko almost blaasting fire in someone's face after they we on the ground and basically defeated. dont really like that change in character. they added all this awkwardness and these comments about what an honorable soldier shouldn't do, and yet they do this?? dumb), and having iroh defend him with ease. innstead it's replaced with "dont show mercy to earthbenders." ok. -the badgeermoles. sense feelings. and react to them. FEELINGS. im.
neutral: -THE SINGING NOMADS??? i thought this tunnel plto sounded like it could be similar to the cave of two lovers, but i really did not expect to see the singing nomads here. i do love them though -look, i dont care about shipping, but OOF. the poor kataang shippers. they're just throwing out all the kataang scenes but not building up an actual friendship in its place. i'm not a fan
bad episode. did not like this one. there were some goo parts, but overall it was just so disappointing compared to the original. on its own, i supposes it's a servicable episode, but so far, none of the others have really let me down this much in terms of expectations.
ep 5 good -ooooohh. i know this one is going to be controvertial, but i actually love the part where ozai corrects azula in the fact that zuko found the avatar, not zhao, and that he's displaying desireable traits in an heir that she seems to be lacking. like, i wish this came AFTER we had some blatant examples of ozai's favortism towards azula, but i do love the idea that ozai is driving their competition between each other. also that ozai is actually able to be proud of zuko IF he achieves those impossible goals he sets. but we still need more azula favoritism set up. -DID JUNE. FUCK ME, there was so much in two seconds hold on. the western whistle thing. june saying "your dad's kinda cute." she thinks iroh is cute, and she thinks iroh is zuko's dad. im. im fine. -WAN SHI TONG????? WHAT IS HE DOING HERE. my child. i did not expect to see my child in s1. overall, i'm relatively happy with him? wish his face was smaller or the resof him was bigger - he had a lot more poof to his head in the original, in imo a smaller face on the head would help make him look larger in solo shots. he looks pretty scrawny. also the voice is a bit too much old man for my tastes? but i'm picky about this bird. now im just super curious if there will be a library episode if s2 comes, and what that'll look like.
bad: -nothing has exemplified my problems with the changes in this show more than katara not throwing the acorn at aang's head. it's just. her attitude is gone, any whimsy that isn't sokka is gone, and they struggle to meld serious topics with humor. -actual gyatso in the spirit world?? maybe?? first of all, if it is actually gyatso, i dont think they did a good job of prooving that. second, why??? i'm really not a fan of aang actually getting that relief from grief and guilt. guilt is such a huge part of aang's character, i just.. idk, it feels less impactful when he gets actual gyatso telling him its ok instead of learning to manage his guilt on his own, nevere knowing really what gyatso would think og him now, like very other person who loses a loved one. it's just. it feels cheap
neutral -im not sure if i like koh as an actually malicious force in this story. like, it works fine for the narrative presented, but i really liked how koh was in the original, threatening and scary and trying to trick aang into making an expression for snack time, but not actually doing anything but helping aang when asked.
not the best episode, but not the worst. we just did that. it's kind of an in between, so idk if there's much to comment on. overall, im not a huge fan of the plot choices here, but i don't think they're actually bad choices, just not my style.
ep 6 good: -roku: im here to help you with anything you need aang: it has to do with koh roku: …anything but that roku has so much fuckin attitude, i kind of love it -zhao ignoring aang to correct the notetaker guys notes and make he gets his facts straight is both funny and an effective way to show off zhao's ego. also "what are you doing, dont write that down" is makin me think of that one kig who fell of his horse while hunting and said "dont let the historians write about this" and guess what fucking happened -the convo right after was really good imo. aang basically doing a lil test to prove that he and zuko could be friends with their boring old conversation was great. zuko getting mad about compassion is heartbreaking, woohoo. pretty much all around a fun scene, except that last line from aang was a little too on the nose. but at this point, im used to it in this show. -also the journal thing is still great. and i could be totally wrong, but i feel like zuko being super kowledgable about avatar stuff is a fanon thing?? well supported, but i'm pretty sure it doesn't actually come up often how much zuko knows about the past avatars, and fandom kind of took the idea that he MUST know a bunch given his search, and has freuently applied that to aus that turn zuko into this avatar specialist that actuallyhas a lot of info that aang needs. i swear that's a fanon concept, and i kind of love that it's happening here. -Ooohh. omg. the 41st as zuko's crew is DEFINITELY something i've only seen in fanon. the crew NOT KNOWING they were the 41st is completely new, and i honestly adore it.
bad: -not the fuckin mother of faces statue spinning around in his hand like a fuckin loading screen object -zhao yelling "cel - la - brate" like a fuckin party rock song, im. i cant. -blue spirit mask looks plastic. also why'd they make it angrier. i mean, i gujess it doesn't matter, but i dont think it adds anything either. that's a design you shouldn't touch in my opinion, it's too iconic. -the fucking music. the music is so fucking boring. you can't give me one fucking blue spirit motif?? wh. please. i need it -why. why did it take so long to do the whole "i need the avatar alive" and then swords to aang's throat. like. i could deal with that short moment of realization leadinng to a pause, but the actual action of zuko putting his swords to aang's throat feels like it takes forever. the whole shock from the animation was how fuckin immediate zuko's reaction was, how there seemed to be no hesitation from allies with the avatar to betting his life on escape. dont care if they have to speed up the footage, that whole sequence shouldn't have given us time to think. it was too slow from the second zhao told his soldiers to stop. -the agni kai. hm… ok. there's a lot here. at its most basic, i absolutely hate that zuko fought back here, because it feels so incredibly counter to the message of the animated show. like, there's a lot of fuckin weight to zuko's line of "i won't fight you." basically any fanfic can tell you a bunch of different ways this is important. it struck a chord for a reason. zuko fighting back just feels wrong. that said, i don't think it's a god awful scene. it's disappointing and abandons half of the origial meaning, but on its own in the context of the show as we've seen it, it works. we still get the trauma, zuko learns the idea that compassion is weakness, and it's still horrifying in the end. but compared to the original, it does feel like the writers here missed the point of zuko refusing to fight in the original, and that's the most frustrating part.
neutral: -torn on how i feel about zhao tagging along with zuko instead of them being phsycially separate. like, i guess it works, but zhao feels more slimey and less powerful this way. like, i'm not constantly reminded that zhao has more influence and more resources through this partnership. but then again, this episode also kind of solves that issue? i guess it doesn't matter, i just didn't like it. -zuko is a very vocal fighter, and he also makes a good amount of noise during his blue spirit fighting. i guess it doesn't really matter, especially cuz we dont have dante basco's crazy recognizable voice to deal with, but it still feels a bit disappointing for the blue spirit to make noise when we're used to dead silence
i might be going crazy, but i swear i heard some of the original guard grunts from the show when zuko's beating up the guards in front of his cell. i might be crazy, but fuck. ANYWAY. overall i did like this episode. going off the last episode, it still had a lot of plot bits i didn't care for, but overall it's good. yes there are issues, but im honestly more impressed by the things they introduced than i am annoyed with the things they changed. im still thinking about the 41st, like fuck
ep 7
good: -zuko's "ship" blew up!! that's an intersting change, but i think it's a clever one! though i do wonder what will become of zuko's actual ship considering it's fine. my favorite character, alive and well. have fun drowning, zuko. but also, this seems much more brutal to me?? cuz like. jee and iroh were trying to save zuko, and they ended up putting himself in danger in doing so. that's worse than just not being around when danger happened like in the animation, imo. -YUE HAS A FURSONA????????????? -i do love that whole scene of azula putting her foot down and refusing to do more of ozai's dumb little tests of strength. like, maybe not true to her animation arc, but i do like it -honestly the change where katara "wins" the fight with pakku not cuz pakku has a crush on her grandma but because everyone else who watched her figt thought she was badass was really nice. crowd vote says fuck pakku
bad: -OOF THAT FIRST SHOUT OF THE NORTHERN WATER TRIBE. oh that is not good. i haven't mentioned the cgi yet, but this is. oh dear. technically it's eas to miss, but still. -im so sorry, im sure she's lovely, but the first short of yue is so bad, she looks like she does not want to be here at all. i actually startedlaughing out loud wtf -oh i forgot momo existed. but now thtat he's here, he's ugly. i dont like him. -sokka and katara look so fucking pale next to hahn and arnook. i hate it
neutral: -im still neutral about azula and ozai's whole tough love thing. azula's lack of confdence and anger at not feeling good enough really feels like a zuko thing instead of an azula thing. she really doesn't come across in the original as worried at all about how she holds up next to zuko. in a vacuum, i don't think it's a bad choice, but compared to the original it is a jarring shift
overall pretty good. i dont like aang's protective behavior, but i do like that it's showing off some of aang's more negative qualities. we didn't get a bato episode or a intro to the storm episode here, so we haven't really encountered that yet. also im happy katara got to be sort of mad. a little.
ep 8 good: -i do like the early war balloons i think, it feels more reasonable that zhao snuck into the city vs got all the way back to the spirit oasis on komodo rhinnos withou being stopped or followed like they did in the original. -katara mastering waterbending literally without instruction is kind of badass. that whole exchange of "you've found a master haven't you" "yes, it's me" was pretty fun. idk how realistic it is, but like. in the original, she also masteredd waterbending in a matter of days, so. niether are that realistic -i kind of like how fuckin visceral the moon spirit getting stabbed is. like, minor change, doesn't matter, but still. that one shot of the bloody bag with a knife sticking out of it was lovely -ok that's spooky as fuck, the "there is no aang" thing with koizilla. like, the idea that this isn't just aang being possessed or lending his aide, this is him straight up giving up his life to la in that moment -that whole thing about zuko just beig a tool ozai uses to motivate azula was really well done actually. great acting, basically all that fanfic worthy revelation emotion, it was super good. like i was kinda thrown by ozai giving all control around hunter the avatar to zhao after seeming so impressed that zuko found the avatar in the first place, but really, i been played a fool. he doesn't care, he's manipulating azula. this is what the favoritism looks like. yikes. -also obsessed with the visual they talked about with aang/la wandering the world forever in search of a partner they wont find. this new context that koizilla really wasn't just a fuck you to the fire nation, it was meant to be permanent. like, fuck, i love that
bad: -OH THEY GOT RID OF ZHAO GOING TO THE SPIRIT LIBRARY i hate everything. what's the point. they're just gonna nix the library all together. wan shi tong is never coming back. sokka v wan shi tong will never happen. my entire career is over. -kuruk just appearing in a random doorway is wack -koizilla looks bad. baaaaaaaaaaad. where's the glowly lines -ok great yay we got zuko turning his back on zhao and getting attacked, but first of all that meant nothing cuz zuko DID ttry to kill him, zhao just dodge, and second, la should've taken zhao. i just. it's a more satisfying death for him, and also zuko's whole take my hand thing is super fuckin important too. but zuko in this show as a traumatic aversion to compassion, so whatever i guess.
pretty good finale, entertaining and got some good emotion stuff. better than most of the episode's emotions honestly
overall good: -before i speak i need you to look at my icon. scroll down the blog a bit. just take that in. ok? ok. i think zuko kind of carried the story here. overall i was very impressed by his acting, and yes, it was much more awkward and tear-ready than animated zuko, but also that's my fuckin jam. he's out of character in a lot of ways, but all the characters are, and like. lets be fucking real, this is fanon zuko. this is how the majority of fandom characterizes him. -set design was very nice in my opnion. casting choices (minus the water tribe sibs) were amaing visually, maybe no so much in terms of talent but we deal. while the costumes look too new and fee fake, it's not the worst. if you go into this expecting camp and trashy fun, you'll enjoy it. you can't set your standards high -once again, take a scroll through my blog. ok. i love how often aang is just like. clearly dissappointed with zuko's lack of desire to change, how much he wants to connect to zuko but zuko wont stop fuckin hissing and spitting. if aang got to have personality in this script, he'd basically be pointing at zuko like "that's my emotional support enemy," i swear to fuck. i might be pushing it on how much they were really like this in the narrative, but i dont care, im having fun asgjhdfh
bad: -momo and appa both look creepy. they give me realistic pokeon vibes, and not in the detective pikachu type of way. like, detective pikachu is what i was hoping for, something that preserved the cute and still felt semi real. this didn't do that. momo is weirdly top heavy and his eyes scare me, and appa has weird, ever present droopy lips, especially at the corners. it's just uncanny -i dont like how bending looks. it's okay i guess, but it's got so many extra busy particle effects that it feels uncontrolled. i always pictured masterful bending as being really smooth and pretty unnatural looking- smooth water bubbles, fire with weirdly contained flickers and not much smoke, earth without a bunch of crumbling pebblees, air without dust everywhere you dont want it. the wobbly water and earth bending with so many fuckin shards of debris and the firebening with so many sparks is disappointing cuz i would've worldbuilt that to be a lack of mastery thing. anyway. it's fine. -aang is not happy and excitable, and katara isn't angry or sassy. they have the personalities of cardboard boxes. rip.
i actually liked that a lot. lots of good and lots of bad, but overall i had fun and that's what matters. maybe not something i'd rewatch if i didn't have atla brainrot, but not fuckin god awful. the characters were pretty different from their animated counterparts, and that's very frustrating in its own way, and the script was full of poorly written dialogue, and the acting kinda of sucked in a lot of places, but. but. i had fun, and im probably gonna rewatch it, and im gonna enjoy applying these ideas to fanfic and fanart. overall, im glad it exists. it's not going to replace the original, it's not meant to, but it's just trashy fun. i love trashy fun.
#oofda#im tired#i had fun but good lord#i do want a s2 though#but mostly i want to see people apply show ideas to fanfic#i need more stuff about these ideas with zuko's crew#i cant stop thinking about that#natla#natla spoilers#atla la#but i gotta go change that tag cuz it's not the standard now

I've been having a mario party superstars brainrot (I've seen a lot of gameplays by now) and then something something here's my headcanons of some bnha characters playing the game.
Shinsou would be a Birdo main I don't know why but I just feel it
You can't play with both Katsuki and Izuku because they both main Rosalina and they're going to fight irl about who gets to play her.
Todoroki would probably play as Mario because he doesn't know any of the other characters
Aizawa would probably not care but always end up playing as Waluigi either way
Present Mic would be a Daisy main I do not take criticism for this
Shinsou's and Jirou's favorite map is Horror Land (Obviously)
Jirou is the "Later Skater" minigame queen and pretty good at "Dizzy Dancing"
Izuku's favorite map is Woody Woods
Todoroki's is Peach's Birthday Cake "it's just so pretty"
Yoshi Island is Tsu's favorite, and she's a Yoshi main as well.
Denki is an agent of chaos and his favorite map is Space Land
Denki is a Wario main
Kirishima is unfairly good at mashing games
Izuku tries so hard to mash but he ends up losing all his money to the boo anyways
Sero knows how to time Chance Time and is the best at Bowser's Mini games
Katsuki is the type to strategically go to the top only to lose it all on chance time (he rage quits)
Todoroki is the type to not know what's going on most of the time and get third in most mini games only to win by finding a hidden block with a star, someone giving him a star on chance time and/or winning both bonus stars.
He also barely buys items and for that he ends up with a lot of money
Shinsou is the king of "Manor of Escape" minigame
Izuku is very good at counting mini games, including "Honeycomb Havoc"
Mina is also an agent of chaos and the only items she buys are the warp block, the chump call and the plunder chest
Tsu is the type to go unnoticed most of the game and then when you realize she has 200 coins and is going to king boo to steal three stars.
Ochako is the most likely to use a costume dice to roll into someone in the last five turns and fight them for all their money
Ochako is an avid Peach main, and she'll take revenge on anyone who dares to take her from her.
Sero would main Luigi
Kirishima would main Donkey Kong
Denki always pays the cops to chase them in Space Land, even if it doesn't benefits him
Mina would chant "Bowser Revolution! Bowser Revolution!" every time anyone lands on Bowser
Ochako and Katsuki are the most competitive ones, when they're paired up in a 2vs2 mini game they just scream at each other "look out!" "left! right!" "JUST CATCH THE GODDAMNED CHERRY"
They win every time
Momo for some reason is the one who lands on the bank (and event spaces) the most
She's also the type to plant three large "strawberries" at birthday cake map and people land on them everytime and they can't even get mad at her for stealing their stars
Jirou is the most likely to get a boo bell in the last five turns
Sero is the type to farm for bonus stars the entire game, he uses costume dices to run into red spaces and everyone is like "wtf are you doing?" while he's like "my goals are beyond your understanding"
Kirishima has the most luck out of all, he's the type to get a super warp block and a golden pipe out of an item bag in turn 3
Mina is the one who uses stickers the most (she insists that there should be a bonus star for that)
Sero can't help but bursting out laughing every single time he sees Yoshi's "whaaat?" sticker
Kirishima invited the big three to play with them once, here's what happened:
Tamaki rolled three ones on a triple dice and actually cried
Mirio beat everyone at almost every minigame (except "Shy Guy Says" because "that game is rigged")
It turns out that Nejire also knows how to time Chance Time and did a full swap with Mirio (while laughing like a maniac) ending up winning the game
Almost nobody knows this, but Hagakure is the most skilled player of Class 1-A
Todoroki's favorite minigames are "Catch Me Letter" and "Coney Island"
Shinsou hates "River Raiders" and "Castaways" with all his heart
Katsuki for some reason gets really mad at Koopa Troopa sometimes, audibly cursing him when he passes by the bank
Katsuki is also very good at "Squared Away"

Rarepair headcanons because I am ignoring my problems
Serodeku:
Izuku reenacts the Spider-Man movies with Sero. Izuku is MJ. They also alternate being Spider-Man sometimes
They skate together
They get very protective when people call their boyfriend “plain”
They play dnd together
Sero tries to make sure that izuku gets some rest
They’re both kinda insecure, izuku more than sero, but still; and they make sure to reassure each other as often as possible
Sero likes listening to Izuku’s ramblings and finds them cute. He has told izuku this, only for the poor boy to imitate a tomato
After Izuku has been particularly reckless, Sero takes advantage of his quirk, wraps Izuku in bubble wrap, and tapes it there
Tokodeku:
Jocknerd bf and goth bf, we love to see it
Tokoyami teaches izuku how to sword fight
They start a dnd club at U.A.
Izuku talks to dark shadow a lot, Dark Shadow approves of him, and has claimed the spot of best man at their wedding
Izuku comes up with ideas to help Tokoyami gain control with Dark Shadow
Dark Shadow is very protective over Izuku, no matter how many times Tokoyami tells him that he can take care of himself, Dark Shadow will put himself between Izuku and any form of danger as often as possible
Dekoyama??? Aoyama/izuku:
Aoyama gives him makeovers, obviously
Aoyama drags izuku to the mall and tries to revamp some of his wardrobe, but he actually finds the “pants” and “flannel” type shirts cute
They help each other train their quirks
Aoyama is trilingual, and teaching izuku English and French.
Izuku always brings Aoyama home some new cheese
Y’all, I love them so much. There needs to be more aodeku content
Monoshinsou:
They have people watching dates. They come up with stories for the people they’re watching; their job, family, background, etc.
They judge people together
They call each other “love”
They’re both dramatic bastards, who will flop onto their lovers lap and proclaim their death due to a minor inconvenience
They jokingly sh*t-talk class A
Shinsou said “I love you” first, and it was because Monoma brought him coffee to class
Monoyama:
Like monoshinsou, they’re both dramatic bastards, who will flop onto their lovers lap and proclaim their death due to a minor inconvenience
They go shopping together and pick out the most dramatic pieces of clothing for each other
I love them so much, please 😭✋
They have tea parties every week, where they sh*t talk everyone else and gossip
They are both fancy bastards, and they wear the most exquisite outfits to go grocery shopping, and the outshine everyone
They both actually make clothing, they’ll go fabric shopping together. Gift exchanges are often articles of clothing that they’ve made for each other
Momomei:
They work on gear together!!!
Momo makes sure that mei gets some sleep
Mei helps redesign momo’s suit
They often work together with izuku to work in gear and such
They actually got together after izuku introduced them. He had been working on gear with mei, and studying with momo and he thought they’d hit it off. He was correct
Shintsuyu:
Dude they’d be so cute
Tsu is a vent gremlin, and you can’t change my mind. So she and shinsou will play a game where they try to find each other. Tsu is in the vent and shinsou is in the classrooms. Shinsou will try to find whichever vent she’s in, or she’ll find whichever classroom he’s in, in 20 minutes or less
I always headcanoned tsu as a dog person, so they’d have two cats and two dogs, and a bunny that they named Deku
They like comparing their friends to animals, hence the bunny, Deku
Kamideku:
Kaminari is a flirt, and izuku does n o t know how to handle it
Kaminari likes listening to izuku’s ramblings, and can keep up with them. He’ll ask questions on things too, and Izuku has never felt more appreciated
I don’t know why I feel like they’d have so many animals, but I do. They’d have so many, man. Three cats, two dogs, four sugar gliders, a hamster
Adhd power couple. They hyperfixated on complimentary things at the same time one time
Kaminari tutors izuku in English, and izuku turots kami in some other subjects. He’s also teaching kami JSL on the side. Kaminari has a live of languages
Momochako:
Study dates, Momo asks ochako to quiz her a lot
Ochako takes to floating momo’s things when she wants attention. Especially when Momo is studying. She makes a game out of how many things she can float until the other girl notices
Uraraka’s confidence does wonders for momo’s. Uraraka always makes sure to reassure momo that she is strong and that she can do this
Momo makes Uraraka whatever her heart desires. Uraraka blushes all the time, and momo takes great pride in getting her girlfriend to blush
Minatoru:
Mina clings to everyone, but especially to toru
They give each other stuffed animals so often. They’ll go to the store to get food, and come back with three stuffed animals that reminded them of each other
Please, they’re so cute 😭✋
They will play hide and seek, I stand by this.
Mina helps toru design a new costume. I hate hers, it’s horrible, and sexist, and not suitable for a fucking child
Toru says that pink is her favorite color
They flirt with each other all the time. Half the class thinks it’s cute, half of them used to think it was cute.
Iidamomo:
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, but study dates. they quiz each other, and it actually gets pretty competitive
They also have rage room dates. I will not budge on this. Iida tried to murder someone, and I am excited to see momo finally snap. She deserves it
They alternate paying for dates, don’t try me.
The go hiking a lot
They started liking each other after one late night, both having nightmares. Momo had tea, and offered some to Iida. They talked until the early hours of the morning
They can’t flirt. They try. But they’re horrible at it. They’ll compliment each other all day long, but they cannot flirt.
KIRIDEKU, MY BELOVED:
Y’all,,, y’all, I love them so much
They train together, obviously
They ran into each other one night in the common room after both having nightmares. They talked about middle school, how they were both bullied, izuku’s quirk coming in late, katsuki being abusive, kiri being bullied because his quirk wasn’t “cool.” After that, they were practically inseparable.
They started going on dates, not that either of them knew they were dates. The entire class knew, so did the teachers, so did the rest of U.A. Kirishima picked up on it first after a comment from Mina, he had is realization.
So, he started courting Izuku. Not thag izuku realized this. He brought him flowers on most ‘dates,’ he bought him hero action figures whenever he could, he complimented him until Izuku was red in the face (which was honestly very easy.) Still, izuku remained ignorant to the fact that he was indeed dating Kirishima.
The final tipping point, was due to Uraraka’s help. She was quite tired of watching the two of them pine for each other. It was amusing for the first couple months, watching Kirishima try so hard, and Deku being totally oblivious. However, she took pity on her friends after a while.
So, Uraraka devised a devilish plan to get the two together. She involved Mina, Sero, and kaminari in this plan. What was the plan, you ask? Oh, simply to trap the two in one room until they broke through izuku’s obliviousness.
Kirishima finally “straight” up admitted his feelings, to which Izuku had the sudden realization of “oh my gods, have we been dating this whole time??” Yes, Izuku. Yes you have.
They have two anniversaries after that.
Let’s be honest, they are really, annoyingly, horrifically lovey dovey. Kirishima brags about having “the manliest and bestest boyfriend in the world.” Izuku flaunts his many PowerPoint presentations on how talented and incredible Kirishima is
Uraraka doesn’t know if she did the right thing by helping them. She is so tired
Tsujirou:
Jirou makes playlists for tsu
The few sane ones in class A, I swear
They go on walks in the rain as often as they can
They go for dates in the bookstore too. They each pick out an album and a book for the other to listen to and read
Y’all, they make so much sense togetherrrrr, I’m love them 🥺
Jirou started liking tsu after the crew saved bakugou. Jirou sat with tsu after momo, Iida, kirishima, Todoroki, and izuku apologized and sat with her. They had movie night, and Jirou joined the Bakugou saving crew and tsu with taking well into the night. She just appreciated how much tsu cared
Tsu started liking Jirou after she helped Iida, momo, and izuku try to keep the class in order. She appreciated how diplomatic and calm she was
Jirou would talk to izuku all night long about how gay she was, and how adorable tsu was. So, izuku decided to try and suggest ways for Jirou to ask her out.
She did not end up getting to ask her out though, as Tsu walked up to her the next morning f and asked if she wanted to go on a date. Jirou said yes. Izuku cried
Izujirou:
They make playlists for each other
They go for runs on the beach a lot
They both have insomnia, and often spend time making blanket forts and talking, or FaceTiming and listening to music
Jirou walks into the common room once a week looking for new music. She started liking Izuku after he made a playlist for her for one of these occasions.
They’re both quite awkward when it comes to romance, but neither of them will shy away from facing the truth. So, Jirou made izuku a playlist filled with love songs that reminded her of him and sent it to him. Sadly, izuku is dense as hell.
So, then Jirou wrote a love song and told izuku that the song was for him. Sadly, izuku is dense as hell.
So, then Jirou write analysis about izuku’s quirk for him. Sadly, izuku is dense as hell
So, then, after thinking that Jirou had done so much for him, izuku made her a playlist filled with love songs. Jirou took this to mean that izuku had finally picked up on her feelings, and accepted them.
So, they started to go on dates. Not that izuku knew this, as he is dense as hell. All leading up to izuku finally confessing his feelings on one of their ‘dates,’ to which Jirou responded, “dude, we’re already dating? Aren’t we? I- I thought that was obvious??”
May this awkward couple be forever blessed
Tokoyama:
Goth/prep boyfriends, we love to see it
At least once a day, Aoyama will proclaim that Tokoyami “shines almost as bright as he does, in his fabulous emo way”
They sword fight, and come up with really dramatic scenarios and scenes that they’re in
They bond over being in the izucrew and their shared love of swords. Aoyama took fencing classes in middle school, and Tokoyami got into sword fighting after watching it in pirates of the Caribbean as a young child. He is self taught and watched countless videos on the art of sword fighting
Tokoyami asked Aoyama our by dramatically presenting him with a dagger and going “will you accompany me on a formal outing as my lover?”
Shinyama:
They flirt constantly
No really, it’s getting quite annoying. Someone please stop them.
They both plop down in random areas and proclaim their deaths, the difference between them, is that Aoyama will burst into shinsou’s room, and yell “love, I’ve been murdered. Mourn for me” while plopping down on shinsou’s lap. Shinsou can be found laying face down outside aoyama’s door, and when Aoyama goes to open the door, he just goes “I’ve been murdered.”
^^ one time, shinsou did a very fun Halloween prank for this, where he poured fake blood all over himself for Aoyama to find him an hour later, asleep.
Nap dates. Aoyama get glitter all over shinsou’s room
Iiyama:
Aoyama enjoys making Iida blush, obviously. But he takes joy in doing it specifically when class is about to start. Aizawa is tired of his shit
Here is how I think an iiyama conversation might go:
Aoyama: I ask for one thing in this relationship-
Iida: Aoyama, you know that’s a lie-
Aoyama: for my boyfriend to carry me around all day-
Iida: Aoyama, I cannot feasibly do this with class-
Aoyama: and I don’t think that’s too much to ask for 😤
Anyway, Aoyama got carried around all day that day, despite Iida’s blush and Aizawa’s eye twitch
Everyone in the izucrew is close, but Iida and Aoyama started to get close after Iida told the crew about Stain. Aoyama wanted Iida to know that he wasn’t alone, and that he wanted to help him. So he started packing extra cheese for lunch and giving it to Iida. Iida was very confused at first. But this was Aoyama trying to court him. This was only made apparent by momo and Jirou telling Iida that this was aoyama’s attempt at expressing romantic interest.
Aoyama flirts with everyone, that’s just who he is. But with Iida? Oh it was tenfold. The poor boy was red in the face constantly. Aoyama was a persistent little bugger too, following him around and calling him ‘mon amour’
Kirikamideku:
My dearest traffic light trio, I’m love them
They train together, and kiri and kami always appreciate izuku’s analysis snd ideas
Kiri falls even more in love with izuku and kaminari when they go off on rants. Izuku rants and kami can keep up with him so he asks questions about it. Kiri loves to watch his boyfriends go on rants, I don’t make the rules, but I do enforce them
They started to get closer after kami and kiri found bakugou causing a ptsd flashback (could be on purpose of an accident, up to the reader.) they stated with him and tried to talk him through it. After this, izuku started to tell them about having been a “late bloomer” and being bullied, etc. (I don’t know, man; I tend to over share after flashbacks and after panic attacks)
Izuku tutors them in several subjects, but kami tutors them in English. Kiri just falls in love with his smart boyfriends
Izuku is teaching kami JSL and kami is helping izuku with English and Italian (personal headcanon that Italian has been one of kami’s special interests) kiri loves to listen to them, and finds it relaxing and calming to hear them do this. When he has panic attacks, he’ll ask them to tutor each other in different languages

Tokoyami takes full advantage of the darker parts of his quirk when he threatens you. You feel trapped in an eternal darkness, like the air was being stolen out of your lungs. He speaks simply, but full of venom. He's shrouded by this aura of calm vexation. He feels toxic to even be around and his apparent apathy makes it more scary. He feels no guilt when he's reached that point. He's one of the slowest to get angry, and when he does, there's no stopping him. You'd never been scared of the dark until that day.
Momo says how she can buy everything you own. How she could take everything that gives you happiness until you're a shell of what you once were. How she has connections, and could ruin your life with a simple phone call. She radiates pure, controlled rage and you want to get away as fast as possible. You feel as if you're going to die at any moment and from that day forward you'll always look over your shoulder, too scared to sleep.
Uraraka is right next to Shoto in scary, and beside Izuku in surprising. She threatens in smiles. Her usual cheery attitude and excitement don't fade as she happily tells you how she'll make your life a living hell. She laughs as she says how she'll make you watch everyone you care about die before you, knowing you could have avoided it. She doesn't raise her hand, but she leaves you trembling and wetting your pants. You'll have nightmares. Sounds like Toga? It's because they're girlfriends.
Shoto is incredibly blunt with his threats. He somehow corners you alone, and calmly tells you how he could kill you, make it look like an accident, get rid of the body, and get away with it. In excruciating detail. He'll leave you sacred for your life, and regretting the day you got on his bad side.
Tsu will stare into the depths or your soul, daring you to piss her off. Being incredibly blunt, she will, just to make sure you get the message, just walk up to you and threaten to slit your throat or something.
Izuku has, after the first year, gotten into the habit of outright threatening pro heroes. It's blackmail more times than not, he has the info to ruin them. It started with Endeavor, then slowly All Might, after he got sick of beings pushed too hard, and extended until all pro heroes that weren't Aizawa, Present Mic, or Fatgum were doing his bidding.
Tenya regularly subtly threatens to call Japanese CPS on Endeavor to knock him down some rankings on the hero list. Nothing he can be charged with, and nothing that anyone out of 1A can trace back to him, but threats to keep him in-line. Have to make him know his place every now and then.
Izuku and Shoto would be the heroes parents want their kids to look up to. Momo and Mina would be the heroes parents want their female kids to look up to, specifically.
You know how 1A all want to be like All Might (mostly)? When they find out what being a 'Symbol Of Peace' really entails, I don't think they'd want to be on anymore. So they'd become beacons of hope, with Izuku shining the brightest out of all of them.
I know they don't technically have to live together if they're all part of one big hero agency. But like. It would be so fun if they did. And with the local rich kids (Momo, Tenya and Shoto), God knows it's gonna be some big-ass mansion. And it'd be sort of a throwback of sorts to the dorms. And I feel as if they'd the be glad for that familiarity, with how much change is occurring. And also, Bakugo and Monoma under the same roof would be fucking hilarious.
I want to see Shoto deck a fellow UA student for saying the wrong thing. Like maybe they'd say "Bakugo acts like a such a villain, no wonder everyone is scared of him." And Shoto would just look around to see Ochaco holding Izuku back with identical looks of rage on their faces. He'd see Bakugo looking down at his feet, trying his best to look unbothered, but his frown is more sad than his usual one. He'd see the Bakusquad trying to convince him it's not true. He'd see Tsu with her fist clenched, and Tenya glaring daggers at the person, and just deck the guy. Incases his fist in ice, to make the blow harder. Kick him a few times too. And would look up at their shocked faces and shrug, "No one fucks with my family. And Bakugo? He's family. All of you are." Deku just starts bawling there and then.
There's no UA traitor, and they just forgot to remove Touya from the family group chat.
After Monoma realizes that no one stops Bakugo from coming after him when he says dumb shit, learns to control his mouth by their first year of working/living together. Interviewers would ask him, "How do you manage with number 2 (tied with Shoto) pro hero DynaMite trying to 'kill you the time?" And Monoma would just answer, with deep tiredness in his voice "Speed, self control, and not sleeping."
HC that Uraraka's quirk isn't zero gravity. It's gravity manipulation, so zero gravity is just a subsection of that. Her quirk exceeds the rules of zero gravity, and it's plausible that because she didn't have much money growing up, she wasn't able to get it properly tested, which should have been free, but we've established hero society is fucked up. This means, essentially, that she should be able to create a black hole. It'd take a lot of training, and a crap ton of effort, and she'd never do it, but she could.
The heroes should be glad 1A (Shinsou and Izuku especially) are good people. Because they could ruin them. They could take down hero society by themselves, and they all have been given reason too! They're just good people, and the heroes should appreciate that. Because the moment they stop being good people? It's all over.
HC that Aoyama is one of those kids that has known he was gay since birth, and never had to come out because people just knew.
Just realized something, feeling sad so you must too. Shigaraki could have been Touya's Izuku in another world. In a less fucked up universe, they could've been friends. Shigaraki- Tenko could have saved him.
Monoma is trying to start an enemies to lovers with all of 1A, Shinsou included. He obviously knows nothing about social interactions, maybe the poor boy is just trying to flirt the only way he knows how: being a prick.
In the Combined Hero Agency, fans and other heroes wonder how Mei keeps up. She's the only support hero, makes (though her interns help) and designs hero costumes AND support items for everyone in the agency, while also making them for her interns when asked, AND has time to participate in family game night every other week.
She really has no secret, just a love for what she does, hard work, dedication plus a lot of time and patience. That doesn't mean she doesn't endorse the rumors she has some secondary quirk or something, she actually enjoys fuelling the fire and watching it unfold. Fucking with the media is her favorite pastime.
At some point, Class 1A convinced Shinsou to make Endeavor to say "I'm a giant piece of shit" live on TV. And that was only after they swore up and down that he wouldn't be kicked out of the hero course, and promised to take the fall if anything goes wrong. The worst thing that happened was All Might trying to say what he did was wrong but he was told to fuck off.
The boys in class 1A like lending their jackets/sweaters/hoodies/jumpers to the girls. And the girls don't return them a lot, and only Mei, who feels bad if she keeps them, returns them, surprising the boys. You leave yours in the common room, don't expect it to be there in 30 minutes. And it didn't stop there. The boys also take each others' cover-ups (Shoto started this by asking to borrow Tokoyami's), and take the girls'. They find them comfortable and soft, and they nice-smelling. Basically everyone's wardrobes (private stuff is kept separately) is up for grabs by second year.
1A and (most of) 1B (+ Mei) are just like so, physical affectionate with each other. So much that even when they're pro heroes, the media isn't sure which relationships are which. Even when they clarify, they don't do anything to stop the rumors and even revel in it, fuelling them from time to time. Like, Ochaco would show up to an interview wearing Izuku's gloves, and the next she'll be in Tokoyami's sweater. Not to mention that her and Tsu are dating a (former) VILLAIN.
What if Momo like, buys a house. But not just a house. Like when they're still UA students, she buy a house for all her friends that don't want to go home over the holidays/weekends. It's (surprisingly) a lot of them.
Katsuki because he doesn't want to get yelled at after almost dying a crap ton. Denki because his parents will be mad about his grades, and he's trying, but it's so hard, and he can't focus. Ashido because she gets made fun of back home for her looks. Shoto because Enji. Tenya because he wants some time away from the pressure of his family to "live up to the Ingenium name", and don't get him wrong, he wants to be the new Ingenium, but he also when he just wants to be Tenya for a bit. Ochaco because she's tired, and wants a break. She loves her parents, but it's so much stress. Tsu because she'd rather be with her friends. Shinsou because he doesn't have a home. And much, much, more.
I think Dabi would've turned out more like Shoto if he had an Izuku. They were incredibly similar, in mentality and around the same backgrounds. The main difference is that Shoto has people to support him now, Dabi didn't. If Dabi had someone like Izuku to help him, help break down his walls, to make him feel validated, and seen (which, as I stan Shiggy and Izuku being siblings because AFO, could have been Tenko in a different world) he wouldn't be a villain.
Kids that are worried that they'd lose their friends when they become heroes would be So happy too. Like "I want to become a hero, but what if my friends and I lose touch? I don't wanna leave them behind, even if we're pros!" While they'd just be there like "we've been with each other since high school bro. they don't have to go nowhere lol"
HC that their fans would start to believe God is a woman, because Momo.
And like, they would be regular visitors at schools and orphanages. None of them ever got to be kids, and very few of them had good experiences with school, so they would want to inspire more kids. That they can become heroes, too. They'd definitely keep all the gifts they got, plus Momo and Izuku seem like the type to pin up every drawing they get from their kid fans in their offices, no matter how good/bad. It'd be good morale, and the kids of the next generation of heroes would have perfect role models to look up to.
It'd be cute if 1A didn't go on to start their own hero agencies. I mean, they'd have to figure something out with Tenya and Shoto, but I feel as if they would go on to make one, big hero agency instead. They have the perfect selection of quirks and personalities, from rescue heroes to support ones! With a bit of help from their friends, of course. (Yes, Mei is included. I love her too much not too)
Sero and Denki seem like the type to get (platonically) married, though Sero is aroace (personal HC) and Denki is dating Shinsou. No one even blinks an eye anymore, too used to their BS.
I HC that Shoto was previously very closed off with his siblings, even after he was allowed to spend time with them. I want to see, after spending time with 1A, him open up. Slight things at first, like offering to go for a run with Natsuo, or giving Fuyumi a kiss on the cheek, to going to amusement parks with Natsuo, and talking about his day and friends with Fuyumi. They not sure what caused this change at first. But then they meet Izuku, and the rest of the IzuCrew, and 1A, and suddenly it all makes sense, and God do they love these kids.
I want to see 1A actively antagonize Endeavor, but only when there's no one that would tell around. Like, anything they can get away with legally, and somethings they can't, but they make sure to not get caught. Natsuo loves it.
I have this HC that around the middle of the year, 1A just gave up on sleeping separately, or the "everyone sleep in your room" rule. After the horrific bullshit they'd been through together, they figured out that sleeping in the same room as each other helped the (inevitable) night terrors that came. And setting a time that everyone should be in their rooms was disastrous. So now it's common to see Shoto or Izuku in Tenya's room, or Mina and Kirishima in Bakugo's, or some nights they all just sleep in whoever has the most space at the time.
I want to see 1A when they're in 2A move into the dorms again. Like, Enji would go "Shoto I don't want you in the dorms this year." And Shoto, who's been waiting to go back since the dorms closed and has already packed all his shit goes ". . . You've gotta be shitting me, old man. I'm gonna go see my friends, who I value more than you. Fuck you." Then freeze him, grab his bags and run to the spot where the rest of the class agreed to meet, to get food then got to the dorms.
Shoto is constantly being used as the class portable heater, and has learnt to accept it, not without making the occasional "I went through years of abuse and trauma for this" comment though
Hatsume and Izuku should be friends. I feel like they'd understand each other. The others try, but they're the only ones who can keep up with how fast each other's brains go.
I want to see 1A visit Rei in the hospital. It started as Shoto introducing his friends to his mom, but they grew fond of her, and now visit her regularly to talk, and update her on what's going on with like Shoto, or school
Imagine if there was no UA traitor, and they just forgot to remove Touya from the family group chat.
Rei should be introduced to Izuku as "my best friend", Tenya as "the friend who stops me from doing bad things", and Kastuki as "my other best friend, though he denies it". Shoto with his lack of social skills would just go "Oh Bakugo? We're friends. He's like that with everyone."
Rei doesn't need to know about the murder, what she doesn't know can't hurt her. And whenever Shoto tries to mention it to her, Tenya just slaps his hand on his mouth to shut him up, or nudges him aggressively until he (after a long time) gets the message .
After a while, when Izuku is asked what hero he wants to be like, he responds All Might. Why wouldn't he? All Might is bold, courageous, strong, and always saves people with a smile. The perfect hero.
But in his mind, he only has one true answer. Eraserhead. Mr. Aizawa is the perfect hero, maybe not to the public, but to his problem children. He's always there for them, and hasn't failed them like a lot of heroes and the society at large has.
Aizawa-sensei is the epitome of everything they strive to be, and though they'll always give different answers: All Might, Hawks, Powerloader, Cementoss, Lunch Rush, there'll always be one true answer. Something only they know. Mr. Aizawa is the ideal hero.
Dark Shadow uses they/them or it/its pronouns. Just makes sense, considering Dark Shadow isn't human, and likely doesn't conform to the same rules of gender we do
Considering Shoto (canonically) trauma dumps to make best friends (Izuku and Katsuki), it's only a matter of time until he does the same for Tenya. Especially after the Stain arc. And I feel like it'd just SHATTER his world view of heroes and hero society. He sees it through even more rose-tinted glasses than Izuku, so the realization that someone wildly viewed as a hero could so such things and get away with it would be totally new to him. Especially because the only experience he had was with Tensei, who is the ideal hero.
Back on my 1A and 1B hero agency bullshit, all their interns love them. They're always so kind to their interns and treat them really well, despite how they normally are or treat their fellow heroes. They remember what it felt like during their own internships, being scared and on their toes. They don't want their interns to feel like that around them.
In their shared agency, Kota and Eri intern there of course, but so do a bunch of other hero students. Some from Gen Ed too, anyone they feel like have potential, application or not.
The Combined Hero Agency (I don't have a name yet) most definitely teach their interns quirkless self defense, for all the times their quirks have failed them or made things more difficult. Hand to hand and using a variety of weapons.
1A is used to Mei and Izuku (Sometimes Tenya tags along. Very rarely, Denki) meeting up to talk costumes and mad genius shit, with Izuku's quirk analysis and Mei's skill in building, 1A would have the best costumes.
these are all so extensive and thought out .......... i love this anon uve put work into these they're so excellent .......... i love 1a family dynamics :( godddd i love them theyre lovely i love this AHHHHH MAN

Persevere though Forsaken
Warnings: Mentions of past abuse, nonphysical
A/N: This was for my server collab!
Masterlist! Check everyone else out!
“Kya, let's talk about our soulmates!”
Soulmates.
The mere notion of having someone else considered to be your perfect half was daunting, to say the least. Having a mark on your skin, just to remind you that your sole purpose in this life was just to find that other person.
It was all a little too much for you honestly.
On your fourth birthday is when your life had changed forever, not only did you receive your quirk but you had also received your soulmark. The intricate patterns of flowers and clouds on your shoulder had you swooning, but the intimidating snake in the midst of it all caused you unease. Of course, every soulmark had a reason for being the way it was, only matching that of your soulmates, but at a mere four you could only fear the harsh animal that would be forever there. Your mother had tried to sooth you, stating that snakes could have multiple meanings and that there was no need to fear them or your mark, but you had never liked snakes very much either way.
Even so, at your young age you had been joyful overall, knowing that this was an important mark and it would one day lead to your happily-ever-after. Fantasies of meeting the one plagued your thoughts, longing to know the feeling that would come once your marks would combine. It was a beautiful sight supposedly, the way each tattoo would take a copy of itself and intertwine together, just like your souls were supposed to be.
Yet as you grew, those feelings of excitement grew into dread. You began to wonder, to worry, if your soulmate was really your perfect match. Wasn’t there no such thing as perfect, so how could there be someone that completed you to such a degree?
There were countless horror stories of how soulmates found one another and it was nothing they dreamed of, nothing they expected. Many said it was due to the wrong lifetimes, not meeting where they should have, or meeting in a time of this current life where they weren’t as stable as previous lives. Whatever the reason, you didn’t want any of it anymore. Not after seeing it all break down right in front of your eyes, you wanted nothing to do with them if you turned out exactly like them. What if your soulmate and you were exactly this? What if you two just weren’t compatible; what if they stood for everything you were against?
You wanted to be a hero, no matter what that was the path you wanted to go down and no one could stop you; you could only imagine the pain you’d feel if your supposed other was the very thing you swore to stop, a villain.
Applying to U.A. was your first step, and now with one year left you swore to yourself you wouldn’t let anything get in your way. You weren’t looking to be pulled in by hopes of a perfect ending, you were willing to carve your own.
“Ne, your guys’ are so pretty!” You snapped out of your thoughts at Hagakure’s voice.
You glanced in the direction everyone was looking at to see Jiro and Momo showing their matching forearms. You had to admit, their soulmarks were lovely; a beautiful backdrop of a lake with two sakura petals caught mid dance, frozen forever on skin barley grazing a lake below.
“You should have seen the way the petals fluttered down together when we connected our arms,” Momo said, a shy smile on her lips, “I’ve never seen a more beautiful connection.”
“That’s the only soulmark connection you’ve seen, Momo.” Jiro laughed, rolling her sleeve back down as she nudged her girlfriend.
“Your point?”
You all laughed, taking turns looking at everyone's marks and theorizing about their significant others until all eyes fell onto you.
“You know (y/n), we’ve all kinda seen everyone else’s before, but never yours.” Mina stated, looking at you with playfully narrowed eyes.
“You’re always wearing a cover or shirt long enough to hide it!” Tsu pointed out.
“Well,” you started, rubbing the back of your head nervously, “I’m not really into the whole soulmate thing, you guys know, so I hide it I guess.”
“Really? I didn’t know that!” Uraraka gasped, scooting closer to you as she did.
“You didn’t know? It’s like the thought of soulmates makes (l/n) sick!” Jiro snickered, sticking her tongue out at you as you flipped her off.
“I don’t get sick, I just don’t see the point-no offense.”
“I agree when I say it isn’t for everyone.” Jiro shrugged.
“Can we see it anyways? Pleaseeee!” Hagakure bounced excitedly, hoping you would agree.
“I’m really curious as to what it looks like, kero.” Tsu agreed.
You only sighed as you stripped off your long-sleeve shirt, leaving you in your sweats and now tank top. The sounds of amazement made you blush as you presented your right shoulder, letting everyone see the detailed snake, it was wrapped around two different types of flowers in front of a giant moon and clouds. It was a lot larger than it used to be when you were younger, now covering almost your entire upper arm. As you grew, your mark did as well, keeping proportional to your body.
“Wow that’s beautiful!”
“It really is, look at how cool it looks.”
“Dude the snake is hardcore.”
“What kind of flowers are those, what do they represent?”
You glance down at your mark before looking back up with a shrug, “not sure.”
“You never wanted to know the symbolism of it?” Uraraka asked, eyes still scanning over the lines of permanent ink.
“When I was younger, sure, but I never bothered to look them up.”
“Well the larger flowers are magnolias,” Momo spoke out as she pointed to the ones that framed the bottom of the mark, “They tend to represent a multitude of things; beauty, purity, and gentleness, but the thing that stands out above all else is perseverance.”
“Perseverance huh, maybe your soulmate is going to have to persevere for a looong time to win you over with that attitude, (y/n).” Mina jokes, causing the rest of the girls to laugh and you to roll your eyes with a grin
“I’d like to see them try.”
“What about the top flowers, Momo?” Hagakure asked.
“Well, they look like anemone’s, and the most significant meanings are anticipation, protection, longing, and forsaken or forgotten love. These flowers rely on the winds to open them up, who knows, maybe all you need is the right wind to open you up.”
“I doubt that.” You deadpan.
“I’m surprised you know so much about flowers!”
Momo held her hands out, creating a couple of flowers with a grin, “Well, I like to know everything I can for my quirk!”
You watched as she put one of the flowers behind Jiro’s ear, and you felt a twinge at jealousy that you immediately shoved down. You couldn’t long for something as sincere as that, you didn’t have the time.
You should take the anemone’s advice and forsake the love altogether.
“Here, one for everyone!” Momo passed the flowers around, and you giggled as she forced you and everyone else to wear it behind the ear as well.
“Gosh, I don’t remember the last time we did this. It feels nice!”
“I agree, we all need to have girl time more often!”
“We don’t talk about things like this as often as we should, it really is a nice bonding moment isn’t it?”
“Ne, (y/n), speaking of bonding... What will you do if you do ever meet your soulmate?”
You glance at Uraraka, you knew she was always a little more interested in soulmate’s due to her crush on someone that wasn’t hers; so you figured you’d continue indulging her and your friends.
“If I’m going to be painfully honest, I hope I never do.”
Silence was met with your answer, and you knew everyone was keeping quiet out of respect for your feelings even if they didn’t particularly agree.
“I only say that because, I just don’t think there is that someone for me you know? I can’t imagine someone being perfect for me, this path we’re choosing is already hard enough, why...” you glance down at your hands, watching them clench up in determination, “Why should I hope for happiness when it isn’t guaranteed?” “Well, I hope you find that happiness. No matter what it looks like, we all deserve it.” Tsu spoke softly.
Everyone agreed, and you could only smile half-heartedly. It wasn’t that you wanted to be a downer, you just couldn’t get over the notion of not being happy. Maybe you were being too cynical, but seeing it first hands at home was really an eyeopener.
Soulmates couldn’t be trusted.
“I don’t know what I would do if I found mine, how awkward huh!” Mina chuckled, scratching her cheek nervously.
“It’s not easy,” Jiro blushed, glancing at her lover, “It is a pretty awkward conversation, isn’t it?”
“Oh most definitely, but it was all worth it in the end.”
“After the initial stutters and such.”
“I bet it was romantic though!” Hagakure swooned.
“All it took was Momo once in her costume, it wasn’t hard to find out after that!”
Everyone laughed once more, agreeing it was hard for the creation hero to hide anything because of the way her hero suit needed to be.
“Awh, we’re out of popcorn!” Uraraka groaned, pushing the empty bowl away.
“I’d go get some but, I’m too comfy here!” Mina snickered, cuddling into her cocoon of blankets she created.
“You’re such a baby Mina, I’ll go.” You flicked her forehead, grabbing the empty bowl and standing.
“Thanks hun, oh can you also bring me back a water?”
“Yea sure, any other orders?” You joked.
After receiving a small list you retreated out of the room and down the hall, towards the kitchens. You hear a couple of the boys who were still up in the common room and rolled your eyes at the way they were screaming at the T.V., raging at the video game battle currently going on. You passed by without a care, closing the door behind you to muffle the energetic shouts the best you could.
“Oh, hey (l/n)!”
You snap your head to the side and smile, noticing the redhead's hair is down and not in it’s usual spikes.
“Hey Kirishima, what are you doing in here, aren’t you missing the party out there.”
You walk forward, reaching into one of the cabinets and pulling out a packet of popcorn. You shuffle around Kirishima, as he was leaning against the counter closest to the microwave, something you needed for your snack run.
“Well if I were to try to eat this in there, it’d get spilled in the chaos.” He laughed, lifting up a bowl of cereal.
“Touché.” You smirked, punching the popcorn button and leaving the machine be as it whirred to life.
You set down the bowl you brought before going to the fridge, you were pulling out a few waters when you felt a stare on your body. You glance curiously at Kirishima to see the intense look on his face and raise a brow, confused as to what he was looking at. Following his line of sight, you stopped to your shoulder- your soulmark.
In your rush out of the room you forgot to put your overshirt back on, and you felt a bit of anxiety bubble in your chest. You tsk quietly, slamming the fridge door. The sound snapped him out of his daze, his eyes rushing up to meet your gaze.
“Oh sorry, I didn’t mean to stare-”
“s’okay. I know I don’t normally show this off. I forgot I didn’t have it covered for a sec.” You shrug, walking back over next to him as your food beeped.
You opened the microwave, setting the waters down while collecting the hot bag of popcorn and opening it to pour it’s contents into the bowl. While doing so, you felt his stare on your mark once more. You didn’t really mind showing it off, letting the girls see it earlier was proof of that, but the way Kirishima’s face contorted; it was as if he knew something.
“What is it?”
“N-nothing!”
“What’s with the stuttering then?”
You narrowed your eyes as he looked panicked, but he tried playing it off by waving his arms frantically in the air as he gave a thumbs up.
“Haha, I better get back in there, and you should probably get back to the girls- see you tomorrow, (l/n)!”
“Yea… See you tomorrow.”
You both stood in awkward silence as you took your time gathering your items and he washed his dish. Turning on your heel, arms full, you made your way across the kitchen when you felt him rush up behind here.
“Here, lemme get that, your hands are full so be careful!” He grinned, hand coming over your frame to push the door open for you.
You gave him a smile, this gentleman-like personality was more suited than the one he tried taking on earlier.
The loud sounds once again invaded your ears, but there was less screaming than there was before. You look over towards the couches and catch a red gaze on your form. You smile shyly under his gaze, having to turn away in hopes he didn’t see the blush you knew had to be on your face. You were used to Bakugou’s piercing looks, but when caught off guard you had to calm your racing heart. You glance up at Kirishima who let the door fall, a grateful look on your face.
“Thanks Kirishima, awkward really doesn’t suit you yanno.” Laughing, you nudge his side.
“The fuck is that in your hair.”
A harsh voice stopped you in your tracks, and you looked at the ridgid blonde glaring at you.
Geez, what had him in a mood now? Must’ve lost a game or something.
You try the best you can to look at the side of your face, remembering the magnolia you had behind your left ear.
“A flower, stupid. Are you blind?”
He clicked his tongue at you, his glare leaving your form as he stared at Kirishima. There was a conversation they held with their eyes, and you felt awkward just standing there.
“Well, uh, goodnight then?”
You don’t wait for a response as you went back to the room, thinking about how strange those two were acting.
____
“Go change into your gym clothes, quickly now, I don’t want to wait around all day.” Aizawa sighed, giving the signal to leave the room.
You stand slowly, as you were tired from the night prior, only to be yanked on by Mina who was pumped for the mock battles to come.
“Jeez, Mina, I’m too tired for this much of your excitement.” You tsk’d, being dragged out of the classroom as she rushed towards the locker room.
“Look it’s not my fault that you stayed up all night last night doing whatever it is you do.”
“It’s called being a good student, I stayed up studying all weekend; you were the one who kept me and everyone else up friday night, talking our ears off about your dumb boy-bands.”
“DUMB- girl, they’re literally my entire life- my loves!”
You snort, rolling your eyes as she throws an arm frantically into the air.
“So dramatic.”
“If I ain’t dramatic, am I even me?”
You laugh, opening the door while holding it open for her. She enters first and you follow, letting the door fall shut behind you as you head towards your locker. You open it up to see your gym clothes, changing sluggishly. The rest of the girls soon entered and began to change, while you told Mina you’d wait outside for her.
“For being so hype to fight, you’re sure taking your sweet time getting dressed.”
“I’M SORRY I GOT SIDETRACKED!” She shouted, shaking Hagakure’s shoulders.
You waved her off, walking out of the changing room while stretching. Raising your arms up with a groan, you enjoy the few seconds of extension before allowing them to drop in a relaxed manner. You heard a grunt, and out of the corner of your eye you saw a body leaning against the wall by the boys locker room.
“Yo.” You called, a hand coming up to cover your mouth as a yawn slipped past.
“Tch,” Bakugou rolled his eyes, “Pulling an all-nighter was stupid.”
You pouted, now regretting texting the group chat at the late hour you did.
“It wasn’t an all-nighter, I was just studying for a few hours.”
“Until 4am?” His scoff caused you to frown, smacking his arm as you did.
“Don’t judge me! We all stay up late to study at one point.”
“Not me, stupid. Sleep is more important than trying to cram all that shit in at one time.” He grabbed your check and pinched, payback to you smacking him.
“Ow- let go idiot!” You grab his cheek back, much to his annoyance.
“Hah!? You’re the idiot, you let go!”
“What are you two doing?”
The sound of Todoroki’s voice caused you to jump away from Bakugou, face warm as you glanced in his direction.
“N-nothing!” You giggled nervously, embarrassed to have been caught so close to the hothead.
The boy in question went ridged, his glare deepening as he glanced at the intruder then back at you. You watched warily as Bakugou clenched his fist as he huffed, turning around and walking off to the gym alone.
“That was strange.” Todoroki said, confusion in his voice.
“Yea.” You agreed, staring at Bakugou’s retreating form till more students began to come out of the locker rooms.
You walk along with Mina, Sero, and Denki, and originally Kirisishima-until he ran off after Bakugou.
The wide eyed look on his face after you told him what happened had made you even more suspicious, these last few days have been weird to say the least. Kirishima had been dancing around you ever since that night in the kitchens, and Bakugou-while he was somewhat normal-had a shorter fuse than late. Anytime it was just you two he seemed fine, but add anyone else to the mix and he would be storming off the next second.
You were just glad he wasn’t ignoring you anymore, on saturday anytime you tried talking to him he would rush off, as if running away from you. You were getting fed up at the weird treatment, and were thankful it stopped only after the one day. You decided not to bring it up, knowing you didn’t need a moody Bakugou Katsuki ignoring you again.
Once inside the gym, Aizawa was waiting to give the proper instructions.
“It’s a mock battle, you know the drill; quirks allowed, keep the damage to a minimum, you win if they give up, or if you get this taped wrapped around them. Let’s choose your opponents.”
You all pulled letters, and quickly knew your opponent from the same corresponding letter. You heard an awkward chuckle and saw Deku quickly make his way over to you, holding up his matching paper.
“I think it’s going to be us fighting, (l/n)!”
“Looks that way, Midoriya! Sounds fun, I can't wait, you’ve gotten really good recently.” You praised him earnestly.
“R-really!?” His excitement came out in his shining eyes and wild arm gestures, the scene forcing you to stifle a laugh.
Izuku really had been improving rapidly this last year, and you were kinda proud of him, even if you rarely talked to him. It was times like this where you understood Uraraka’s feelings about him, even though she was embarrassed about it because he wasn’t her soulmate.
You thought back to the sleepover, how you grabbed her shoulders and said that it was her choice to love whoever she wanted; soulmates or not she shouldn’t let that dictate who she wants in her life. The rest of the girls also told her it would be worth trying, since soulmates aren't always guaranteed to be found.
You guess you were also telling Uraraka words you had also wanted to hear, since you couldn’t help but feel a little something more for a certain hothead. At first you hated the idea of feelings altogether, and desperately tried to get rid of anything more you felt, but later came to term that you couldn’t help that much. It wasn’t that you were scared of being in love, or having strong feelings, you were scared to be forced with someone who could be no good.
Not having a soulmate would make things much easier.
Midoriya had continued talking animatedly, waving his arms around and vividly talking about a topic you couldn’t keep up with. You were going to tell him to slow down when a rough shoulder knocked into him, causing Midoriya to stagger back.
“Get out of the fucking way, Deku.” Bakugou spat at the boy before walking off to the viewing area.
You glance at Deku who looks as bewildered as you felt, staring at his childhood friend’s back.
“Is Kaachan okay?” Midoriya turned back to face you, and all you could do was shrug.
“Honestly I don’t know.”
“Well, if anyone could get him in a better mood it’s you!” He beamed, and you raised a brow questioningly.
“What do you mean by that?”
You saw his jaw drop slightly as he blushed a bright red, waving his arms frantically with a nervous laughter.
“I, uh, I mean you guys are just really good friends! Th-that’s all!”
You narrow your eyes, unconvinced, yet you drop it anyway; simply agreeing with a small blush on your face before heading up to the viewing spot. Once inside the area, you chose to stand in between Uraraka and Mina.
For some reason as the matches went on, the antsier you felt. There was this bubbling feeling of nerves creeping up slowly and you tried pushing the feeling away. Sure, you may not win this fight against Midoriya, but you were as sure you wouldn’t go down without a fight. You thought yourself lucky to have a physical, strength base quirk. You were no prodigy, but you were by no means weak. You never backed down from a challenge, so you weren’t sure what was bringing this on.
“Bakugou, Todoroki, your turn.”
This was a battle you were determined to watch, you had no doubts in Bakugou’s ability, but Todoroki was his own force to be reckoned with. You held your breath as the signal was released, and they were off.
Both of them immediately went on the offense, Bakugou sending a large explosion and Todoroki countering with a large wall of ice. Bakugou jumped up, smashing through the ice with another explosion, and from there it was really hard to keep up with what was going on. Chunks of ice and large bouts of smoke filled the area, and you couldn’t even see their bodies at one point anymore, until Todoroki let out a large blast of fire. It was intense and blew all the surrounding smoke to reveal a cleared battleground. Bakugou’s high-collared zip up was lit up in flames, and you watched as he threw it off with a wicked grin.
“THAT’S MORE LIKE IT ICY-HOT, LET’S GO!”
He fought now without his top, having nothing underneath. You feel your face grow hot as you stare linger a little longer than you should have. You couldn’t help it, his build was very broad and thick, the dips of his muscles were really eye catching.
The black ink on his right shoulder also caught your attention, and you realized that must’ve been his soulmark. You wanted to look away, you really did, but the curiosity was ushering you to see what the ever great Bakugou Katsuki could have.
You narrow your eyes, mentally yelling at the blond to stay still you could see what the patterns of ink could be. He finally stopped just long enough for you to quickly scan the details, and doing so had your heart stopping.
There was the shape of flowers surrounding the mark, clouds wisping in the background. A large moon accentuating the large and finely detailed snake in the middle.
The world had come to a halt in your mind, the only noticeable thing being the large mark on his shoulder. There was no way it was the same, there had to be some difference, right?
Bakugou Katsuki couldn’t be your soulmate.
You’ve been his classmate for the last three years, and you only now found out? There was no way, it was a coincidence, there were little differences-there had to be.
“Hey,” Mina whispered, “Isn’t that… your mark?”
Mina’s words shattered the already thin remains of conviction you had tried to force upon yourself. With wide eyes, you looked helplessly at Mina. She looked surprised when she caught sight of you, instantly feeling guilty at mentioning it.
“(y/n)-”
“Alright, enough. At this rate no one else will get to go. I end this as a tie.”
Aizawa’s voice boomed over the intercom, ceasing the battle below. Bakugou’s cursing invaded your ears and made you even more aware of what he was to you. You gasped quietly, drawing the attention of Uraraka who regarded you with concern.
“Are you okay-”
“Midoriya, (l/n). You’re up.”
A white noise filled your ears, both girls trying to talk to you but you couldn’t speak. You removed yourself from Mina’s hold, her eyes showcasing pity and you couldn’t take it. You shut your eyes tight and turned around, rushing out.
You were so out of it you didn’t even realize that you were standing on the platform already, face-to-face with Midoriya. He seemed none the wiser to your current state and you couldn’t decide if that was better or not.
“Begin.”
You were normally a first attacker, springing into action as soon as you could to try to get your opponent off their guard, but you couldn’t move. Your world was spinning and the air just wasn’t coming. You could faintly see Midoriya charging up, but it was an out of body experience. The will to move was strong but you were unable, watching through wide eyes as he sprung forward and punched you straight across the face.
The force of his punch sent you flying back, rolling across the ground till you stopped on your stomach. You kept silent, the pain strong but you were numb to it. A shocked gasp mixed with the ringing in your ears, Midoriya’s concerned voice followed.
“-god, you always go for the kill I-I, I’m sorry!”
You push yourself up on uneasy arms, gaze stuck on the drops of blood that steadily fell onto the concrete. You bring your hand up to wipe your face, staring at the crimson smear staining your fingers.
The same crimson that matched a certain pair of eyes you knew all too well.
Standing up silenced Midoriya’s worried words, examining you in shock.
“(l/n)-”
“Come at me…” You glare harshly into his green eyes, the anger flooded your system all at once.
You were glad for the green, wanting to erase the thoughts of the other.
“B-but, you’re shaking. Are you alright?”
You look down at your hands to see that he was indeed right, you were violently shaking.
You clench the hand that still held blood, squeezing it tight and sticking out your arm while aiming your fist right at him.
“COME AT ME! I’M NOT LETTING ANYTHING STAND IN MY WAY, I JUST CAN’T!” Your anguish echoed around the room.
Sucking in harsh breaths, you watch as Izuku still falters on attacking you, unsure of what to make on your outburst. Letting out a guttural scream in frustration, you bring your fist down and slam it onto the concrete. Breaking upon impact cracks form, rapidly snaking their way towards where he was standing, forcing Midoriya to jump up to avoid falling because of it.
You spring forward and jump up to meet him in the air, slamming a fist into his stomach and sending him spiraling into the ground. You saw red hot anger, and all you could remember was going all out against Deku. He was on the defense, since every time he managed to get a strike in you would scream bloody murder and punch back ten times harder.
Every time you thought you could calm down, an image of spiky blond and cocky grins popped into your mind, and the anger rose all over again. The anger continued to rise as your mind raced with thoughts of confident laughter and opinionated yelling, then of twisting snakes and broken glass. Shouts of the past deafened your ears, and memories played back on a loop; a tearful face and angered, screaming mouth behind your eyelids.
“AGH.”
You snap back to reality, Midoriya’s pained face in your vision as you landed a solid hit on his forearm. He had his arms crossed in an ‘X’ in front of him and the power behind your punch had managed to damage both of them.
It was broken from your brute force and the other bruised, the guilt washed up to replace the anger. You hadn’t meant to take it out on Deku, you really didn’t. You were just so lost in yourself that you didn’t realize what you were doing, you didn’t want this side of you to be brought out.
Your worst fears of having the ugliest sides of yourself arising were coming true, you felt sick.
Midoriya staggered back, his broken arm hanging limply by his side as he charged, bruised arm aimed in attack.
“I give up.” You whisper.
Deku’s punch stopped an inch from your face, his eyes blown open and chest heaving.
“What-”
“Midoriya wins, (l/n) forfeits.”
As his arm drops to his side, he stares at you with the most caring look.
“You’re.. Crying.”
You can feel the stares, feel the questions, the whispers. As Deku held out a good hand you back away, the room was closing in on you and you needed to get out. You walked off the now broken arena, unable to wipe the tears that fell from your eyes.
Because all you felt was his red hot stare and it was the most brutal thing.
_____
A few days had passed from the mock battles, most wanting to put your feelings first so they hadn’t asked what had gone wrong. You weren’t so lucky when the person you most dreaded to see was not one of those people, constantly trying to get you to talk to him. It had been easy to avoid him for the first few days, but after the third you could tell he was getting fed up.
Especially since here he was, holding your dorm door open with a snarl on his lips.
“I said I don’t want to talk-”
“And I’m saying that’s fucking bullshit, you’ve had enough time to do whatever, now you talk.”
You couldn’t even bring yourself to look at him, your hurt gaze focused on the floor. It was silent for a moment before Katsuki pushed himself into your room, despite your protests.
“You’ve been ignoring everyone, what the hell is up with that.”
You stay planted in your spot, hands coming together to pick at your fingers. His annoyed huff made you flinch, you finally turned to where he was standing by your bed. He had been in your room plenty of times before, but never had you felt like this.
Never had wanted him out more than you did at this very moment.
“(y/n).”
Wide eyes look up as he called out your first name, something he’s never done before.
“Don’t-”
“Don’t what? I’m sick of you acting like you don’t have anyone to fucking talk to. You have a shit load of people who will listen to you.”
You cross your arms to hug yourself, looking away with indifferent eyes.
“I’m fine. I don’t want to talk because I don’t need to.”
“Cut the crap,” Bakugou sighs, “I can’t stand liars.”
“I’m not…” You trailed off as you caught his nasty glare, the past once more flashing through your mind.
A chilling silence filled the room, and you bite your lip in an attempt to help remove the pressure building behind your eyes.
“We’re soulmates, Bakugou.”
“I know.”
Your chest tightened with irritation as you stared him down.
“You know?”
“Yea.”
“And you weren’t going to fucking tell me?”
“Were you? If I didn’t know, would you have told me?” He seethed, annoyed.
“I-”
“You can’t be fucking upset over something you did too, (y/n).”
You stayed silent, knowing he was right, but the hurt of such a large secret being kept still clawing at you.
“How’d you find out?” You question softly.
“Kirishima told me, he said he saw your mark.”
You think back to the night in the kitchens, his behavior now making sense.
“You know how I feel about soulmates, I can’t-”
“What can’t you do, because if you tell yourself you can’t do something then get over yourself.”
“Excuse me-”
“If you fucking say you can’t, then you’re right. But I'll tell you right now that’s a shitty reason to not do something.”
“Can you quit cutting me off!” You hiss, hands coming up to rub your temples, “I can get a damn sentence out without you interrupting me! I’m just saying I can’t. Bakugou I just can’t-”
“You’re a fucking coward.”
You let out an exasperated cry, hands covering your eyes as scenes of fights similar came to your conscious thought.
“THIS IS WHAT I’M TRYING TO AVOID!”
“What, me?” Bakugou said calmly, the white hot angry threatening to bubble over.
“Yes! No, ugh-I don’t want the universe to dictate my life okay? There’s no such thing as a perfect match, and I for one don’t want one!”
“Who said I had to be your perfect match!?”
“The universe, the fucking gods, the stupid string of fate, I don’t fucking know who! But I won’t accept this, I can’t trust this to work out.”
“You can’t trust me.” He scoffed, looking away.
“That’s not what I meant, I just want to choose for myself! I want a choice in my own life!”
“Then what the hell do you want!? Because you know what, I couldn’t give a damn about this soulmate bullshit! I want you, you get that!”
Your mouth went dry, watching Bakugou run his hands through his already messy locks.
“I just want you, you piss me off but I can’t stand not having you around! I get fucking pissed when I see you blushing around anyone else, laughing and shit. I fucking want you to myself, same mark or not, open your fucking eyes already!”
Here he was, laying his heart on the table and all you could do was stare. Your heart was squeezing painfully in longing, but the fear that gripped your throat kept you from speaking the words you wanted to.
“I’m sorry…”
You watched as Katsuki’s face contorted into one of anger, disappointment, and suffering. You wanted to reach out, but you looked away instead. His once booming voice now pitifully strained.
“I hope you find whatever you’re looking for, glad to know it isn’t me.”
He brushed past you, slamming your door as he left your room.
The silence haunting as you now felt cold without him, but you couldn’t force yourself to run after him. You just couldn’t, the sooner you both accepted that, the better.
So why did you feel like you were making the biggest mistake of your life.
____
When you woke up that next morning, you couldn’t get out of bed. Your body was aching, your head was pounding, and your chest hurt. You look at the time, seeing you still had a few hours before you had to get up for school. You roll over in hopes of trying to get some more sleep, but as an hour trickles by you realize how pointless it is.
Sitting up, you throw the covers off of your body and sit at the edge of the bed. You sigh, slipping your feet into your slippers and slowly standing. You threw on a sweatshirt and walked down the hall and to the kitchens, wanting some water for your parched throat. The stars were still shining bright in the sky, the sun's light barely visible as the midnight blue was turning into a dark sapphire.
You open the door to the kitchens, surprised to see your teacher at one of the tables, papers everywhere and a cup of coffee next to him. He looks up, eyes droopy from lack of sleep and hair tied up messily.
“(l/n), morning.”
“Morning, Aizawa sir.” You respond, cautious.
You have never woken up early enough to catch your teacher at this time, you didn’t even think it was possible for him to be up at this hour, but here he was. You shuffle to the fridge and grab a bottle of water, quickly chugging the cool contents.
Letting out a satisfying sigh, you close the cap and turn back to head out of the room when you pause. You glance again at your teacher, and see him raise a brow without even looking in your direction.
“What is it?”
You pick at the bottom of your sweatshirt with one hand, the other holding the bottle loosely at your side.
“I can’t sleep, is it alright if.. Um, never mind-”
“Sit.”
You don’t have to be told twice, sitting in front of him, careful not to mess up the school work. You both sit in silence for a while, you staring down at the table, picking at a spot that has chipped paint. The sounds of a scratching pen filled the air and it was somehow calming, knowing that there was someone who cared about you directly in front of you was a nice thought.
Your heart thumped painfully, thinking back to last night. Katsuki was someone that cared about you, and he was right in front of you too. Why was it so hard for you?
“I’m surprised you gave up the match the other day. You could have beat Midoriya.”
You look up at your teacher through your lashes, mildly surprised at him conversing.
“I,” you paused, a sigh leaving your lips, “I don’t know, I wasn’t thinking straight. I didn’t mean to hurt him.”
“Yea, you could tell, and he’s fine; he’s done worse to himself his entire first year than what you did to him. You know that.”
You don’t know what to say, sitting there, a feeling of shame running through your veins.
“Still... I didn’t mean to take anything out on Midoriya, I just couldn’t control myself.”
The shuffling of paper caught your attention, he pulled one out of the stack as he spoke.
“Does it have anything to do with this?” He hands you a piece of paper, and you grab it, confused.
Scanning over it quickly, you realized what today was. A dull pain making you gently set the paper down, looking back up at your teacher who was staring at you with what looked like concern.
You only hummed in agreement, it wasn’t the real reason but it was easier than explaining the truth.
“Maybe you should finally take this. For the last two years this request form comes in on this day every year and you never use it.”
You swallow, mouth suddenly feeling dry once more as you grab the paper again. You stand up, form clenched tightly to your chest as you nod in appreciation.
“Maybe I should. Thank you.”
You turn to leave, seeing the sun now peaking out, a bright orange painting the lands in signal of a new day.
The day you were finally going to do what you should’ve done long ago.
____
You stood shakily in front of the house you grew up in, the door seemingly intimidating as you held your hand up to knock. Thankfully you were saved from the trouble, the door opening up before you even got the chance. You and the woman shared a look of shock, before her eyes began to water.
“Oh, (y/n)... You’re here?”
You bring your left hand up, rubbing your right shoulder nervously.
“Yeah, I’m here mom.”
She pulled you into a hug, and you let yourself fall into her embrace. She pulls away, closing the door and locking it before beaming up at you.
“I’m glad you’re here, sweetie. Let’s get going, okay?”
You can only nod, walking side by side with your mother down the road. It was still early morning, the sun higher in the sky than before, but not high enough to cast a vast amount of heat or bright light. Your mother was silent for the most part, asking you a few questions here and there about school and graduation. You answered earnestly, telling her about how the midterm exams were approaching and you were busy trying to prepare yourself.
The conversation edges away to nothing once sight of the hefty, daunting grey gates comes into view. Your mother holds onto your hand with her free one, and you give it a quick squeeze to let her know you were okay. Passing the gates you both walked along a cleared path, coming onto the plot you both were looking for.
Your mother lets go of your hand, walking forward to one of the tombstones. It was neatly kept, flowers along the top and the stone wiped down. Your mother sets the basket she had brought on the ground, opening it up as she kneeled down. She replaced the drying flowers with fresh ones, and also replenished the incense resting there. She bowed her head, letting her forehead rest against the stone and she mumbled words meant for their ears early.
You take a deep breath, swallowing all the dread that had built up as your mother turned around and smiled at you.
“Your father must be overjoyed to see you, he has missed you these last couple of years.”
“Mom,” You ignored her, jumping straight to the point, “Why do you do this. You hated dad.”
“No, I didn’t.” She shook her head, a hand running along the cool stone with a wistful smile.
“I love your father, I still do.”
“But you two were terrible together.” You cried, keeping your voice down out of respect but still in need of knowing.
“It’s true, we weren’t the best together at the current time. It’s one of my biggest regrets.”
“Being with dad?”
“No, sweetheart, I never regretted being with your father. He was my soulmate. My other half.”
You clenched your hands at your side, flashbacks of your father and mother having screaming matches.
You could hardly remember a time they were happy together, there was always some reason why one or the other would be upset. You hated the fighting that would happen constantly; you would hide under your bed, in your closet, anywhere to get away from the noise. From the screams and the tears, from the cursing and the heartbreak.
Soulmates, what a joke.
“Mom, I don’t think you two were meant for each other. I don’t think you were truly soulmates.”
Your mother gave you a soft look, patting the space next to her. You reluctantly sat down, refusing to look at the grave this close.
“(y/n), I’m sorry. For all those years of hardships you had to deal with, you didn’t deserve that. Now look what it has done, given you a warped view of love. It’s with a heavy heart your father had passed before we could truly better ourselves. In our next life we shall be reunited in better circumstances.”
“I-”
“Please dear, let me finish.”
You close your mouth, allowing her to continue as you stare at the loose ends of your sweater.
“Your father was a wonderful man, one that I did not give enough credit to. I was hard on your father, and in turn he was hard on me. It had led to our poor communication, and eventually our rough patch. You remembered for the worst of it, and for that I cannot be sorry enough. I regret to this day the way I handled the relationship; instead of cherishing my love I had forsaken him.”
You still your movements, those choice of words causing your stomach to flutter in an unpleasant way.
“We were opposites, but we fit each other so well. It was our own foolish actions that caused us to drift away.”
Tears started to pool in your eyes, squeezing them shut in hopes to stop the floodgates, but they fell anyways.
“Mom, I’m scared.”
“Sweetheart,” she pulls you in close, holding you tightly while shushing you, “tell me, what has you scared?”
“I-I found him, my soulmate.”
“Dear, that’s wonderful.”
“Is it though? I don’t want things to end up bad, I don’t know what to do. I actually like him, but I don’t want to be told to like him. I don’t.. And I don’t want to be heartbroken like you were.”
“Sometimes heartbreak is inevitable, and that’s okay. In this life we are graced to find the person who would suit us best, not necessarily who is the most perfect for you.”
“I don’t understand…”
She lifted you face, wiping under your eyes with her thumbs, giving you a smile.
“Your soulmate isn’t the person who you’ll never fight with, nor the person who is your equal in every way. Your soulmate is the one who holds your heart, flaws and all. It is the person willing to go through the hardships with you, the heartbreak, the sadness, the tensions, the anger, and be willing to fix it and continue on with you. The one willing to grow with you. They’re there with you anyways, loving you through all that pain; just to one day be granted with sunny skies and a heart full of love.”
You think back to all the interactions you’ve had with Bakugou, how tensions were always high with the explosive teen. He was a hothead, arrogant, rude, cruel, and had plenty of negatives. But he had good qualities, that you knew for sure; he was caring in his own way, he was strong, determined, wise, faithful, and so much more.
Yet he wouldn’t be him if he had one set of traits and not the other, a Bakugou with no heart, or a Bakugou with no soul wouldn’t be him at all. He needed them all, the good and the bad.
You liked him despite it all, even though you wanted to push it away, you knew you couldn’t have had a better partner in life.
“Do you understand now, sweetie?”
You look into her eyes, glancing at the tombstone, your heavy heart feeling lighter.
“Yea, yea I do. Thanks mom… Dad.”
____
It was dark by the time you had returned to the dorms, opening up the door you were surprised to see people in the common room. Heads turn and you feel embarrassed at the attention, removing your shoes you adorn your slippers and walk further inside.
“(y/n)! Where have you been!” Mina rushed over, throwing her arms around you.
You felt terrible, knowing you hadn’t made the last few days easy on her. She didn’t ask questions, she didn't push or pry, but you knew she wanted to. Of course she did, you had gone crazy momentarily after finding out your soulmate was your crush, and had then shut her out for days after before randomly disappearing.
“Hey, sorry. I needed to do something.”
“That lasted all day?” Kaminari questioned, standing behind Mina as she held onto you tightly, not letting go.
“Yea. I didn’t have time to tell anyone, you were all still asleep.”
“So you ran away like a thief in the night, huh? Pretty bold of you to do, (l/n).” Sero snickered, his large hand patting the top of your head.
You swipe his hand away, grinning nonetheless.
“More like an early bird, since it was in the morning dorks.”
You pull Mina away from you, giving her a tired smile.
“I promise we’ll talk later, for now, I want to go to bed.”
She reluctantly let you go, knowing she could trust you but wanting to be there as a comfort.
You bid a goodnight to your friends and sluggishly make your way to your floor. You turn down your hall, yawning and stretching as you do, distracted enough to not notice the body in front of your door till you rammed into them.
You back up, rubbing your nose while looking up to see-
“Bakugou?”
“Tch, where’ve you been.”
You were surprised to see him outside your door, with the fight not even a day old yet. Your mother's words were echoing in your mind, making you bite back a smile;
“Your soulmate is the one who holds your heart, flaws and all.
And here he was, trying.
“I was visiting my father.”
He kept quiet after that, knowing the circumstances.
“It’s the anniversary of his death, every year my mother tries to make me go with her, and I never do. She puts in a request to get me out of school anyways, and I don’t remember the last time I went.”
You walk around him, opening your door and walking inside. You don’t have to tell Bakugou anything, he’s already walking in and sitting down next to you on the bed.
“Why did you go today then.”
“I needed to know.”
“Know what?” He raised his brow questioningly.
“Know if this could work.” You motioned between the two of you.
“(y/n)-”
“Let me finish,” you interrupt him, taking a deep breath before looking at him in the eyes, “My parents never got along, even though they were soulmates. It was hard for me to experience that first hand. I haven’t gotten over it, and it still haunts me to this day. It scares me, I thought if I ever met my soulmate, it would be the universe punishing me and I’d end up just like my parents. Or what would happen if I was cursed even more and ended up with someone the complete opposite of me. How would I love them? This perfect other business scared me, and I didn’t want anyone to decide my future.”
“But my mom told me that it doesn’t have to be someone perfect, just someone willing to be there with you, no matter what. And I think I can do that… I can do that with you, Katsuki.”
“Idiot.”
“Hah? What am I an idiot for-”
You were cut off as Bakugou pulled you in for a hug. Your face buzzed with embarrassment as his arms circled your waist, your own pinned between the both of you.
“Again, I don’t care about all that soulmate crap. But I guess the way your mom explained it was pretty damn good. I like you for who you are, and nothing else. No mark, no stupid fucking deity shitface can make me think otherwise. Even if you weren’t my soulmate, I’d still fucking fall for you because you’re (/n), and that’s all that matters dammit.”
You tear up, clinging onto the collar of his hoodie while he continues to hold you. It may be a bumpy ride, but you’re willing to ride it out with him.
“Ne, Katsuki, let’s do it.”
“Wh-what the hell are you saying!?” He pushed you away from his body, face flushed a bright red.
You tilt your head on confusion, taking off your sweatshirt.
“OI FUCKING IDIOT WAIT-”
“What?”
You reveal your tank top underneath, soul mark showing proudly on your right shoulder.
“Take yours off, let’s do it. Let’s combine them.”
The shuddering sigh of relief that escaped his lips baffled you, before a sly grin crossed your face.
“Katsuki, you pervert, what were you thinking?”
“N-nothing stupid,” huffing, he say back and unzipped his hoodie, taking it off to reveal a tank top of his own. You stare at his mark, being this close you could see every single matching detail. It was almost like looking into a mirror.
“We don’t have to do this if you don't want to.” He said seriously, staring at you to see if your body language would give out an answer.
“I want to, Katsuki.”
He smiled, and you did a double-take. It was small, nothing fancy or over-the-top like normal, but it was a real and genuine smile.
“What are you smiling for?”
“I like it when you call me Katsuki.”
“Good, cause you better get used to it.”
You chuckled before turning around, sitting on your bed facing the wall while Katsuki stayed still, letting his legs hang off the side of the bed. Your right shoulders were almost touching, and you both gave each other one look before lightly bumping them together.
It really was as magical as they said, the comforting warmth that spread throughout your body was soothing for the soul-giving you a sense of peace. Then the tickling feeling came, it was a feather light touch on your shoulder as the snake on your shoulder split into two. They were the same in every way, mirror images of one another. They also copied each other's movements, dancing and intertwining together until there were two whole pieces to the puzzle.
You both lean your foreheads together once it’s over, basking in the afterglow of such an intimate act. You both whisper promises of honesty and togetherness, agreeing to not let the fear of soulmates interfere with their relationship;
“Because you’re you no matter what, got that? I only want you.”
“I don’t think you’ll ever let me forget it. Thank you, Katsuki.”

I have been interested in the Lantern Corps lately. Red Rage, Orange Avarice, Yellow Fear, Green Willpower, Blue Hope, Violet Compassion, Pink Love, Black Death, White Life, Ultraviolet Shame, Phantom Apathy/Emotionlessness, and I think Gold is Justice. What would 1-A members be part of?
Oh, I’ve always wanted to answer a question like this. For the sake of this, I will interpret it as a person who harbors an emotion or one who inspires an emotion. I will also ignore some of the limitations of the Cores, like how there can only be one Orange Lantern or how the Love Core only allows women. And I won’t include the Lanterns outside of the spectrum either cause they aren’t as well defined, like Gold and Ultraviolet, or just don’t apply, like Black and White.
Sato: Sato was one of the most difficult. He isn't really defined by any of the emotions present. I suppose Love could fit given that people love his baking.
Sero: Again, like Sato, Sero doesn't really fit any of the Cores. I guess Will could work? He does seem have a desire to grow and improve in spite of his setbacks.
Denki: Will I suppose? Which I'm only saying because Guy Gardner is a clear example of the kind of Lantern Denki would be and the kind of people they take.
Tsuyu: Obviously Compassion. Just an all nice person who bares a lot of empathy towards people.
Koda: Koda would be in the Indigo Tribe. Again, like Tsuyu, just a very kind person who loves animals and doesn’t like violence.
Mineta: Fear, not question. You could argue the Rage he incites, but I think he fits as someone who harbors great fear. He also incites fear, just not in the traditional way.
Tokoyami: I was going to say the Yellow Lanterns given that the fear Dark Shadow can inspire and his own fear towards it, but Will just suits Tokoyami better. His bravery and ability to act makes him a good fit to the core.
Mina: I’m going with Love. While it is a more general love, I think that her care and consideration makes her a good pick for the Core. Plus she already have the pink skin going for her, so I think she will fit right in.
Aoyama: I see him being in the Fear Core. Not only is he generally cowardly nature, but he also is afraid of showing his true self. You could argue Shame for that, but I think that fear is more his overarching emotion.
Jiro: I did consider putting her in Love, but I think that the Blue Lanterns fit her better. While she does love music, her ability to inspire hope in others through music is what nets her this spot.
Ojiro: Clearly a Green Lantern. In spite of having a far less impressive Quirk then his classmates, Ojiro works in a lot of work just to keep up, striving for the best in spite of his lackluster abilities.
Kirishima: Obviously, he would go into the Green Lanterns. His whole arc is overcoming fear and doubt to be a better person and a better hero. He's probably one of the better candidates on this list.
Bakugou: Surprising no one, Bakugou will go in the Rage Core. While Fear or Will could suit him as well, he's is someone who is just so dominated by his rage that I struggle to picture him in any other core.
Uraraka: As much as the fandoms plays up her "greedy nature", I believe that the Star Sapphires suit her the best. Her entire motivation is based around the love for her family and she also harbors a love for Izuku, repressed as it may be.
Izuku: I'm confident in putting him among the Green Lanterns. While you could Hope for sticking to his dream or Compassion for his general heroism, I believe it is his effort and action that make him a better fit for Will.
Hagakure: As tempted as I am to put her in the Ultraviolet Core for a joke, I think that Love fits her better. I guess it's for her generally peppy attitude that doesn't fit with any of the other cores. At least now she'll be wearing even more of a costume.
Iida: As someone with a lot of drive, I could easily see Iida in the Will Core. I mean that guy basically mutilated himself to get stronger. If that's not willpower, I don't know what is. Plus the Green Lantern's role as space cops would suit him well.
Shoji: While I think that the Yellow Ring could suit him fine as one who induces fear, I believe that the Indigo Ring fits him better. He's just a generally nice, reliably helpful guy. Though that does raise the question of how he'll wear the ring.
Momo: I was going to put her in the Pink Lanterns as a joke, but I actually think that the Blue Lanterns fit her better. Through her leadership, she is able to inspire hope in others, working better as a guide and supporter rather then an active combatant just like the Hope Core.
Shoto: If we're going by the start of the series, Rage or Fear would work as he hates his dad and people are intimidated by him. However, I think that Compassion fits him the best. Not only for his heroic nature, but his desire for redemption, something that the Indigo Tribe is all about.

Are there any character designs in bnha that make you slightly angry? You’re an artist so you know about this stuff. Is there any character that you see and you’re just like. What.
now this is a whole can of worms (heh) you don’t wanna open but here we are. i think hori’s designs are for the most part really inventive and unique but there are some that just..... what. why. no. but i’m not a professional like he is so i probably don’t have a leg to stand on... i’m gonna complain anyway
obvious answer: momo’s stupid titty window. not only is it sexualisation of a minor but it just wouldn’t work like, physically. and it’s impractical! i’m sure we’ve all heard this before though lol
no idea if i’m about to make enemies by saying this but bakugo’s grenade gauntlets incite rage in me. they’re a cool concept but holy fuck they’re so BIG, do they need to be that big? he’s like half grenade. they’re so cumbersome
on that note, uraraka’s boots are too big for my liking. her silhouette looks cool af but it’s not practical imo, plus the heels are just stupid
mineta’s ugly diaper
i’m definitely gonna make enemies for this but shouto’s design was so ridiculous to me at first. it’s like being slapped repeatedly in the face with “look! his power is half n half because HE’S half n half! heterochromia! split hair! scar! HALF N HALF” christ i get it ok he’s half n half
present mic’s voice box thing around his neck frustrates me bc it looks so clunky and restricting
invisible girl should not be naked. and if you’re just gonna give her gloves and boots at least make them a cool design not? normal boots with gloves that don’t even match them?? she regularly has to take her shoes off in battle and they’re LACE UPS????
spinner’s hair colour clashes so atrociously with the rest of his palette. he looks like one of those troll dolls
hawks should have tail feathers for flight :| also the way his wings are positioned on his back looks unnatural a lot of the time
nighteye’s overall design is missing something for me. i know he’s meant to seem like a stiff businessman you warm up to when you get to know him, but there’s nothing about his design that’s visually appealing to me, and visuals do play a part in warming a character to the audience... probably just me though
midnight’s costume isn’t even sexy it’s just weird..... i know she’d have better taste than that
all might’s true form. i get the point of the stylisation is to show how gaunt he is but i find parts of it jarring like his mouth and eyes with no whites. i remember i used to think he didn’t feel like he was drawn in the same style as deku
tokoyami’s human teeth make me want to bite someone
#ask#long post#ask to tag#for the momo bit but im not sure what to tag it.....#don’t take this too seriously lmao this is just like.. a small percentage of designs. most of them i rlly like

Alright, chapter 8! And man is there a lot to talk about here. I don’t really have any pre-content things to say, so we’ll just hop right into it today!
[No. 8 - Rage, You Damned Nerd]
I swear, this first page has a LOT to talk about on it, so I’ll go from panel to panel and do some rambling thoughts on each segment.
First off, UA doesn’t actually handle the costumes the kids get! It’s support companies affiliated with the school that does - which makes sense, since the school has to focus on teaching their support students before letting them get their hands on actual costumes that these kids might be fighting in.
I mean, they seem to be allowed to practice on like, minor support stuff (read: Mei making Izuku his new gloves post-Nighteye or somewhere around there) but not full costuming, which is… actually a bit reassuring? But also explains some of the lag time in getting costume repairs / upgrades since they’re probably busy companies. It also explains why there probably aren’t major alterations to any costumes besides between the summer and winter variants, since it would be time-consuming to remake these costumes so regularly.
(It still doesn’t excuse some of the costumes the kids got, but that’s more on the whole ‘eye candy’ thing for readers than actual practicality, so whatever.)
(Also, I can’t get over the fact that Snipe has a support company. Fucking Snipe. Guess we know another canon or likely-canon Support teacher.)
Next we get a preview of what the kids sent in for specifications for their costumes:
We get a bit of insight into a few of the characters - as background stuff, we get Shouji, Mineta, Aoyama, and Sato. Mineta got pretty dunked on for char design and costuming, and Aoyama’s costume almost looks like a magical girl outfit like this, which honest to god would have been fantastic to see him in. More interesting (at least to me) are the other three: Ochako, Tenya, and Katsuki.
Ochako first, because that pressure point thing is interesting, and I dunno how often those actually come up in fics besides a passing mention, like. What if her support bracelets / neck piece broke during training / a mission / whatever? Would she suddenly have to fight through the nausea? By the point of current canon (War Arc) she’s probably trained enough that she doesn’t need them as much, but man, it could be an interesting little thing to explore, like, post-Kamino.
Tenya is a bit surprising, since we know he comes from a well-off hero family. Logically, this was before the whole Hosu / Ingenium plotline was really developed, so Tenya didn’t have that to fall back on, or it could be argued that the support company that Ingenium is associated with also works with UA. Alternatively, it could be that either Tenya didn’t want to rely on his family (which seems silly when they’d know how to work with his quirk best) or UA is very firm on ALL costume stuff going through them…
But then again, Katsuki. Oh god, Katsuki. What fucking support company looked at this kid and went ‘yeah we should give him a way to store more explosives AND give him bombs’ and just. Did so. Why did UA not vet that. Maybe the support company didn’t realize how strong his explosions were without the gear, but UA, man, I just. I suppose they had no way of knowing how reckless he’d be with them, but honestly, after the battle trials, they should have been fucking yoinked from him so damned fast.
Anyways, onto other parts of Katsuki’s costume, we see he’s a fucking dork. Possibly what lowered their guard. ‘Something scary’ and ‘Dynamighte all over’. What the hell, kid. At least your designer stuck close to your design… including the huge-ass clunky gauntlets. Man, the Musketeer Trio movie poster ones are so much better looking and so, so streamlined. Works of art, they are.
Moving on, we get a bit of a flashback to ~three weeks ago, which by the calendar would be around March 20th? So a few weeks after the Entrance Exam. And Izuku is only NOW getting around to updating the quirk registry? Izuku baby seriously, how the FUCK did none of the UA staff notice the ‘quirkless’ on your application form at any point before this?
But yeah, he’s worried about his registry, so he calls Toshinori, who explains the update process. It gives the example of someone who might alter their stuff with updated information, with one or two allowed - though major ones aren’t accepted. Toshinori then says it’ll probably be okay since he started with nothing, then tries to correct himself to ‘definitely’, only to get cut off because Izuku accidentally hangs up in a panic when Inko calls out that she’s home. Haha poor Toshinori, and poor Izuku, the two anxious dumbasses.
Anyways, moving on from that is Inko showing off the jumpsuit she made, with Izuku surprised. She admits it’s not the coolest, but she based it off of the design in his notebook (the one we saw back in chapter 1). She tells him she regrets giving up on him back then, and how he never quit regardless of her faith. She apologizes and says from there on she’ll be cheering him on with all she’s got.
Izuku’s narration notes that it’s a symbol of his mom’s love, and that he couldn’t wear anything else, even if it’s not ‘efficient’ or ‘cutting edge’. (Or even at all decent looking.) And it’s also hinted through the present thoughts on it that it’s meant to be an homage to All Might (the smile and the hair pieces) which is just such a dorky thing.
We get to the wide-spread of hero costumes, which- wait a second.
That’s Momo’s initial hero costume design???? Why did Hori not stay with that??? It’s a LOT better than the stuff we’ve seen her in later! Like, sure, it’d still be improved with the main opening being her stomach and not her chest, but this still looks like actual human clothing and not a sexy Halloween costume variant of her hero uniform. Fucking hell, now I’m even more mad.
Tsuyu’s costume meets the approval of the discord server as basically ‘no changes needed’ asides from maybe the goggles being a bit bulky.
Tenya’s costume, I’m sorry, I know it’s an homage to your brother / family, but were the additional pipes really needed? Also, the helmet isn’t a bad idea since he goes fast, and bugs in the mouth/teeth have to suck, but it just looks so damned Gundam-y I can’t help but laugh a little.
Shouto… nah, too easy a target.
Aoyama is Aoyama. I’m actually a bit disappointed now that it’s not a magical girl costume, but alas, I suppose even Hori couldn’t be that brave.
Kaminari… I forgot he had that headset thingy.
Don’t really have much else to say about anyone else, so let’s move on.
Izuku bugs out a bit about Ochako’s costume/appearance, while she compliments his more practical looks and laments not being specific, saying it’s a bit too puffy and curvy for her. Which means it’s more the accessories which seem to be her issue with it over the main costume itself? Huh.
Anyways, after All Might confirms they’re all there, he notices Izuku’s headpieces, which are a match to his costume, and has to turn to muffle a laugh for how obvious a reference it is. Tenya steps up, asking whether they’ll be doing cityscape maneuvers again since it’s the same field used in the entrance exam. Izuku thinks to himself how cool Tenya’s costume is, while All Might explains that they’re moving onto step two - indoor anti-personnel battle training!
He explains what while villain battles are most commonly seen outdoors, statistically the worst crimes and villains are more likely to be found indoors. Confinement, house arrest, black market deals… the clever villains luck indoors to avoid heroes. Which is why the class will be split into teams of two and pit against each other, heroes versus villains style!
Ah, Tsuyu. Calling him right the heck out, as expected. All Might then notes that in this scenario, the fight won’t be against disposable robots.
This entire page is just fucking hilarious. The class and all their questions while All Might is shaking with nerves. The fucking cheat sheet he uses to try to get back on track. Him being questioned on the lot drawing, and shaking while Izuku accidentally ends up covering for him. I just. All Might was not prepared for this mess and it shows. He was doing so much better when it was the one on one stuff with Izuku.
But yeah, Izuku notes the scenario is like from a western comic plot, and he’s also the one who ‘realizes’ the lots are like when heroes from different agencies have to team up for emergencies without prior warning.
Lots are drawn, and we have our teams:
Izuku’s so stressed out because he still can’t really talk to her, while she’s excited to be teamed up and calls it ‘fate’ that it happened. All Might draws the first two teams to participate, and… team Izuku and Ochako (as the heroes) versus team Katsuki and Tenya (as the villains). Both Izuku and Katsuki are alert from this development…
Which makes this a good point to cut off, since it’s halfway through and we got a lot of information to chew on already. Second part should be out this weekend (hopefully).

NOT My Hero Academia: Part 1 – Ch.4
“Midoriya!” Iida called out to me on my way out of the school later that same day. He caught up to me, resting a hand on my shoulder. “That was very impressive, keeping up with all of us the way you did.” “Ah! Um… thanks…”
“Expelling someone…” Iida put a hand to his chin, motioning with the finger of his other hand animatedly, “At first, I couldn’t believe our own instructor would do such a thing, but I suppose that’s how it is at the top!”
I didn’t get it. Why…? Why come up to talk to me? It’s not like I knew this “Iida” guy. ‘Maybe… It’s just cause we left at about the same time, so he spotted me in the crowd…?’
“You two!” Uraraka came running up next. “Headed to the station? Wait up!” “Ah, Infinity Girl!” said Iida. She looked surprised by the nickname, “I’m Ochako Uraraka! Um, you’re Tenya Iida and Midoriya… um… Deku! Right!!” “Deku?!” I exclaimed. “Hmm?” She looked confused, “During the test, that Bakugo guy said ‘Damn you, Deku!!’ right?”
Sweating nervously, gesturing wildly, and avoiding eye contact with the too cute girl, I managed to stumble out an explanation, “Um… my real name is Izuku… ‘Deku’ is just Kacchan being a bully…” “A derogatory pet name then?” muttered Iida, clearly bothered by that. “Oh gotcha!! Sorry!!” Uraraka apologized, rubbing the back of her neck nervously. But then, clenching her fist in front of her and smiling brightly, she continued, “But ‘Deku’ well… It just screams, ‘Do your best!!’ I kinda like it. The way it sounds.”
‘Oh, man… Too cute…!’ Judging by how hot my cheeks felt, I was blushing even more deeply now. ‘This changes everything!’
“Deku’s fine!!” Iida tried to talk me out of it, but I ignored him. Because… if even the name “Deku” could become something I could wear proudly… And regardless of the way the other students looked at me, or the way our teachers treated me… If Uraraka could still smile at me cheerfully…
‘I just might like it at this school after all.’
…
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
“I HAVE…!” the students heard a voice call from down the hallway. We all knew that voice. And I knew it better than most… I grimaced slightly, but I couldn’t deny I was still a little excited. ‘He’s here…’ With a gust of wind, All Might was suddenly leaning into the room from the door frame. “... COME THROUGH THE DOOR, LIKE NORMAL!!”
My classmates muttered to themselves and each other, excited and freaking out over the Number One Hero. All Might whistled a tune, marched to the front of the room, turned his back to us and posed exclaiming, “Hero basic training! The class that’ll put you through all sorts of special training to mold you into heroes!!” He faced us again. “No time to dally. Today’s activity is BATTLE TRAINING!!”
From the seat in front of me, I heard Kacchan mutter “battle…” with a grin in his voice.
All Might continued, “And for that… you need these!!” Parts of the wall to our left slid out with a rumble. There were containers inside with numbers on them.
It was our costumes. Specially made for us thanks to U.A.’s uniform subsidy.
Mine was a simple, thin, reinforced body-armor. I hadn’t been able to decide on a design, though, so the company had just given (left?) it a plain black. It had holsters and compartments for all the weapons Master had given me.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
“As promised…”
I stared, wide-eyed, at the assortment of weapons, armor, and other additions to my costume -- many which I didn’t even recognize. Let alone know how to use! “K-Kurogiri-sensei… This is…” ‘This is too much!!!’
“You’ll start training to use them immediately. But as for what you’ll take to school with you…” Kurogiri-sensei pointed to a selection of four items, “These should be sufficient for most situations.”
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
There was an extendable/retractable bo staff, smoke pellets, net-grenades, and a trick-gun. Although, I had a simple grapple-gun, instead of the trick-gun at the moment, since it still needed to be approved. Once it was, though, I could discard the grapple-gun in favor of the trick-gun’s grapple setting. One less thing to carry. The suit covered my entire body, including my head. I could see and breath through the part covering my face, although I wasn’t sure what the material was. All-in-all, it was… not really a look that suited me, in my opinion. But it would do for now.
Until I… actually figured out what look would suit me…
.
When we made it to the training grounds (a faux-city), I was surprised to see an older student next to All Might. Apparently, he was “Mirio Togata,” All Might’s teaching assistant. “Don’t mind me!” he said, waving and smiling at the class, “I’m just here to observe for now.” All Might explained the rules of our “indoor anti-personnel battle training,” and we drew lots to determine the teams.
I ended up teamed with Uraraka (‘Seriously? I can barely say two words to her…! Jeez, where’s that plant when I need it?!’) and, just my luck, facing off against Kacchan (and Iida) in the very first matchup. As All Might was encouraging the two boys to “adopt a villain mindset” and “not hold back,” Kacchan bragged about how “certain his victory” against us was.
Uraraka and I waited outside while the villains prepared for the battle. Strangely, strategizing for a battle, preparing to face unfair odds in order to train… to get stronger… It almost felt like I was back with Kurogiri-sensei and Master.
“So that’s you Deku? Cool costume!! Real practical-looking!” I didn’t answer her, instead staring at the blueprints of the building we were to infiltrate. “...” Uraraka stared at me, at my face that was only just barely visible through my mask. “... Are you worried?” “-hm?” I looked up at her. “No. Why?” If anything, she was the one who looked worried. “It’s just… Bakugo, he’s… the one who bullies you, right?” I lowered the blueprints. “Yeah. We’d better be on guard.”
‘Actually… yeah. Why aren’t I worried? Since…’
“Kacchan may be a jerk, but he’s amazing… He’s stronger than me in almost every way. Iida too. Their quirks…” ‘Are only tools.’
“... We should come up with a strategy!” Uraraka smiled at me, pumped.
‘Kacchan is sure to come straight at me. So…’ I smiled back. “I… have a few ideas, actually.”
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Back in the monitor room, All Might was distracted. He’d been distracted from the moment he recognized the two boys in his class. Well, he’d known they’d both gotten in, but… with Aizawa’s reputation, he’d expected that green-haired kid to have been expelled already! He was worried. He’d found out when he’d saved Bakugo that the boy had a nasty temper. And his quirk was incredibly strong! And, he might’ve been imagining it, but… there seemed to be a dangerous tension between the two boys.
But… as the teacher, he couldn’t… ‘No. Midoriya is just another student. A quirkless student… but a student. Someone I’m meant to teach and prepare to become a hero. If the kid has made it this far on his own, then he can handle himself.’
… But there was no need to let things get out-of-hand, right?
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
When we got the signal to start, Uraraka used her zero-gravity on me, and, grabbing her, I I grappled us to the top of the building.
While we couldn’t be certain of where the “villains” were holed up, it was likely to be higher, rather than lower. --“Higher ground is easier to defend,” said Kurogiri-sensei, “This is a natural human instinct, as well as a fact of battle.”--
‘And also,' I thought to myself 'by coming from the top… we just might catch them off-guard.’
A sneak attack wasn’t just our best chance, but, really, our only chance. --“Even when you’re outclassed and outmatched, the element of surprise can even any odds.”-- So it was unfortunate that we were up against someone with enough speed to, potentially, counter that key advantage.
...
I had been right: Kacchan had already headed downstairs to try and attack me directly. But there was only one entrance into the room containing Iida and the weapon.
Uraraka and I tried to circle around and inside through the windows, but Iida spotted us just in time. “Bakugo! They’re up here!” he yelled into his micro transceiver. He rushed at me, since I was closer to the weapon, but Uraraka managed to slap his shoulder as he passed her.
He floated into the air. He’d lost his speed advantage! But before we knew it, we could already hear the sounds of explosions closing in on us. There was no time!
I barely managed to hide myself against the wall containing the door before Kacchan came barreling through it. --I rushed through a portal, only to be grabbed from behind and pinned to the ground. "When entering a new space,” Kurogiri-sensei said, “people will rarely look to the side in those first few seconds.”-- Without even pausing, Kacchan charged at Uraraka, who was about to touch the weapon. But before he could land a blow, I threw one of the net-grenades, and- *ki-ching!* -he found himself trapped in a net!
He tried to blast out of it, but I knew the net was too strong for that. Unfortunately for us, Iida managed to use his recipro burst to reach a wall and-
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
All four of us stood in a line in front of the rest of the class, our masks removed. Kacchan was literally smoking with rage, muttering about a “fluke.”
“Well, I’d say… The V.I.P. of this battle was Iida!!” exclaimed All Might, “I wonder why? Anyone know?!” “I do, All Might-sensei,” said Momo Yaoyorozu, her hand shooting up. “Not only did he capture both heroes, but he stayed focused on his goal and found a counter-strategy when facing an attack from an unforeseen direction.” “Very good, Miss Yaoyorozu!” All Might congratulated her.
But, from next to the teacher, Mirio cut in. “I dunno…” he said, thoughtful. “I think the V.I.P. was Midoriya.”
My gaze (everyone’s, really) shot up from the floor to look at him. My jaw was on the ground in shock. “I mean, the Hero Team shouldn’t have stood a chance of winning, yet Midoriya showed ingenuity in that sneak attack of theirs. It should have guaranteed them victory! They only failed because the Villain Team had a card hidden up their sleeve.”
“... Yes … You’re correct…!” All Might was sweating nervously, “But I’d, um… also add that the Hero Team should have kept their eyes on both opponents, even if they believed them to be immobilized!” Mirio nodded. Still smiling, he turned to us, “Yeah, true. It’s hard to do in the middle of battle. But, as you found out, it’s best to stay aware of all your surroundings!”
All Might quickly got the next match moving after that and, freed from the awkward tension, the other students started crowding around me. “Cool moves, man!” “I wouldn’t have thought to go from outside!” “Where’d you learn to fight like that?!” Even Todoroki stopped to give me a “Well done” before leaving for his own match.
I did my best to laugh off their questions (I couldn’t tell them about Master, after all), and, thankfully, they were distracted when the next match started.
Kacchan was still smoking. But when he saw how quickly Todoroki’s power ended the match- -he stopped.
I noticed the look in his eyes. But when I saw Kacchan leave early… I didn’t feel any desire to go after him.
Really, I didn’t.
I…
Didn’t…
.
… Right?

MHA 30 Day Challenge
Day 1: This is really hard for me to choose because I love most of them equally, so its probably a tie between Shoji, Ojiro, Koda, Tokoyami, and Shinso.
Day 2: ...again, hard. I really love Jirou and Momo the most. They’re both such amazing people, but Tsu is also so sweet.
Day 3: Quirk wise, I like Yaoyorozu the most. She’s such a great character and is really destined for greatness. Personality wise, probably Kirishima. He’s just a really positive influence
Day 4: Kendo. No question. I love her personality and her quiet strength, but I like Juzo too.
Day 5: Mirio. His energy is really fun and he’s kind of a trouble maker in his own subtle way. He’s so sunny that anyone’s negativity just kind of bounces off him.
Day 6: Mora Nagamasa. I just think he’s really cool.
Day 7: This is harder, but probably Fat Gum. He’s just a fun person.
Day 8: Twice. Immediately Twice. His story is so sad and he’s realistic. He knows he doesn’t fit in with society so he chose to go to a place where he would be accepted, with the villains. I don’t believe he’s a truly bad guy, he just wants a bit of peace and some love and acceptance.
Day 9: My favorite quirk is probably Koda’s. Being able to control and coexist with all kinds of animals seems really cool to me. Shiozaki and Yanagi’s quirks are a close second.
Day 10: My favorite hero costumes belong to Komori Kinoko, Ojiro, and Thirteen.
Day 11: My favorite minor character will always be Ojiro. He doesn’t get enough love.
Day 12: Really any interaction with Twice, Toga, and Dabi.
Day 13: My favorite scene is probably the one with Gran Torino after tripping into a pile of ketchup soaked sausages looks up and goes “I’m alive!” and Midoriya screeches “AH HE’S ALIVE!” Or any scene with Shinso really.
Day 14: My favorite battle is the training battle between Class B and Class A with Tetsutetsu, Juzo, Pony, Sen, Iida, Shoji, Ojiro, and Todoroki.
Day 15: My favorite opening is the first one ever called The Day.
Day 16: My favorite story arc was probably the practical licensing exam / special moves arc because everyone from lots of schools and in Class A got to strut their stuff.
Day 17: “No Good Hero is a One Trick Pony” -Aizawa. It works better with the context seeing as he said it right before jumping into battle to protect his students, but it reminds me that each of my strengths is unique and valuable. I also like his blatant disrespect for social norms
Day 18: The one on the bus were Asui calmly destroys Bakugo.
Day 19: Can’t really remember. I’m pretty sure I cried during the Overhaul arc though. The fact that Eri went through such pain really hurts my heart.
Day 20: Bakugo, Kaminari, and Kirishima’s friendship. It’s great. They have good chemistry. I also like Aoyama’s friendship with Midoriya.
Day 21: O h. God probably Aizawa or Tsu. Tokoyami and Jirou ring pretty true for me too.
Day 22: Shoji. I love him, I love his quirk. I’m short so he could give me piggy backs and stuff. I feel like he’d enjoy reading somewhere quiet like I do, so we might do that.
Day 23: Yaoyorozu, Mina, Tsuyu, or Kendo. They’re all powerful, confident, capable ladies and I wish I had their level of fearlessness.
Day 24: Bakugo and Shigaraki. Bakugo has matured from a loud selfish proud rage head to a loud proud rage head. He dropped the majority of the selfish part. And Shigaraki has gone from kind of a whiny man-child to a full-blown criminal organizer.
Day 25: I’m hella gay for Jirou and Momo so them. If I had to pick a dude... uhhhh...... Shinso? Kirishima’s pretty cute I guess?
Day 26: Kurogiri. He puts up with the League’s bull and has yet to murder them. His patience seems to be unending. Either that or Mirio. He could probably get away with everything.
Day 27: A pure child.
Day 28: I remember looking at Thirteen and asking myself if he was a that one tire mascot before realizing he was supposed to be an astronaut. I also flipped Endeavor off a lot during seasons 2 and 3
Day 29: I liked the Wild Wild Pussycats forest. It was pretty
Day 30: My favorite AU is probably the fantasy one. Which is kinda basic, but I also like ijessbest’s AU where Tomura is a Pro Hero

How much do we actually know about Shigaraki Tomura, and how much is just implication? And can we truly trust what we have been shown?
As odd as it is, I feel like the more we learn about him, the more questions are brought up. And while a lot of this may be old news on unsurprising to must of us, all well as basic ‘well of course that applies to him’ info, it’s still worth sitting down and evaluating how much is actually true. I probably missed some things, and will update when new info comes up!
WHAT WE KNOW IS TRUE:
Shigaraki Tomura is the name given to Shimura Tenko, grandson of All Might’s teacher Shimura Nana. He was taken in by AfO, who killed his grandmother, and was raised to become his successor so as to cause All Might to most possible pain. (source: ch 88, 92, 222)
He’s 20 years old, was taken in as a child, and at 14 experienced the aftermath of his Sensei being beaten at the hands of All Might, and in turn saw his Sensei receiving irreplaceable damage. (source: ch 1, 220)
He has countless scars across his face; a group surrounding his eyes, one down his left eye, and one down the right side of his mouth. He’s had them since before AfO took him in, so they’re most likely from either earlier in his childhood, or from whatever event traumatized him and killed his family. (source: ch. 222)
He wears what he believes/are actually the disembodied hands of his family, which he murdered as a child. Flashbacks of his family include his parents, a little girl, and a corgi, although it’s never stated these flashbacks truly correspond with his family. There are additional, unaccounted for, hands, which he wears alongside his family as part of his villain costume. He treats his ‘family’ with genuine care, apologizing to them and making sure they’re safe; at the same time, for all the peace they bring him, there’s a sense of horror and pain. (source: USJ, ch 85, 220, 222)
He’s incredibly intelligent, and usually when his plans fail it’s because of unpredictable factors (Deku distracting them at USJ, Katsuki’s stubbornness and unique ideals + Momo’s tracker, etc). He successfully managed to use Stain’s ideals for his own benefit despite hating him, and duped the 8POD into trusting the League before stabbing them in the back and taking what he needed from them. (source: a lot)
Moral ideals and grand plans personally mean nothing to him, and he’s shown disinterest for such ideas from the beginning by making his speech at USJ and then nonchalantly agreeing it was bullshit, and his hatred and lack of understanding of Stain’s ideals and popularity. He’s even outright said he doesn’t want power or authority, but instead wants to simply destroy. (source: his USJ speech, ch 69, 222)
He wants to kill everything he doesn’t like, including All Might. Shigaraki is cruel, violent, and driven by a mix of anger, emptiness, and hatred. This has always been the case, and chapter 222 has gone ever further in explaining how he deals with his feelings. AfO fostered his trauma and its effects, and taught him how to use them so he directs his pain out against the world. The exact reasons behind and mechanics of how this happens is still uncertain, but nonetheless interesting to look into. (source: ch 69, 88, literally every appearance he’s in)
Shigaraki is dealing with trauma and mental illness, and received little to no help for coping with it. The exact nature of his mental illness is unclear - there have been lots of interesting options people have talked about that are worth bringing up, such as depression, OCD (plus excoriation disorder for scratching at his neck), BPD, PTSD, and autism, but in the end it’s hard to say anything more definitive than ‘some mental illness’ - and the range and scope of his trauma is hard to know, but it’s still safe to say he’s dealing with both. From the way AFO and the doctor treat his breakdown after seeing his ‘families’ remains’, it’s clear they care little to none about his actual wellbeing, and instead want to use his trauma to their advantage. (source: ch 222, general traits in all his appearances)
We know Shigaraki’s own understanding of his childhood, and that his trauma shaped the person he is now in current chapters. He has fragmented memories, rage associated with them, and a nauseous calm he has from wearing his family on him. Even while going about for non-villainous activities, such as when he ran into Midoriya at the mall, he’s still shown to have Father with him. Upon losing Father, he shows excessive stress. That said, he’s started to wear Father less while around the League, although we don’t know what caused him to do so. It could be a tactical bid to make them trust him, or that he depends on them less when with his colleagues, or that he himself trusts his colleagues, etc. Either way, he still takes great care to protect his ‘family’ and make sure they’re on hand at all time in case something happens unexpectedly. (source: chs 18, 88 220 - 222)
The League is important to him, enough so that he’s willing to show trust in them and make exceptions in his goals to let them keep what they love. While there are different ways of explaining why he treats them with such care and freedom, it’s undeniable that he’s invested in all of them. (source: overhaul arc, ch 220 - 222)
Shigaraki is growing, learning, and coming into his own person the further along in Canon we go. While he started at USJ with using his allies as tools and canon fodder, now he takes time to individually connect with his teammates and look out for their wellbeing, even if we don’t know his emotional state behind doing this. He’s utilized his enemies ideologies for his own sake, and learned to manipulate the game to take advantage of his enemies, like how he tricked the 8POD before destroying them and stealing their quirk-erasing bullets. (source: overhaul arc, ch 85, 160)
He’s becoming the type of leader to go out in the field with his teammates, not just command from the shadows. While at USJ he was happy to abandon his minions, and at the training camp he stayed at the bar while the Vanguard Action Squad did the dirty work, by the time they faced off against Overhaul he’d be in the thick of it alongside his party, jumping off of moving trucks and including his team in his declarations, providing and proving a unified front. (ch 160, 220)
He’s also the type of guy to regularly speak in video game terms. I just think that’s neat.
WHAT IS FALSE:
‘Shigaraki is an immature whiny manchild.’ I’ll admit, he does act manic and childish about certain things in the beginning; at the same time, he’s shown a lot of maturity, intelligence, and self-awareness throughout the series. In fact I’d say he’s shown considerably more of those traits that a lot of the more central characters, considering how frequently cases of him growing and showing level-headed, calculated choices despite are shown how little screen time Shigaraki has.
‘He has no social skills and doesn’t know how to interact in society.’ While Shigaraki clearly doesn’t care about fitting in or social norms, he’s shown time and again that he *knows how* to. He uses his words to win over Toga and Twice when they didn’t want to work temp for the 8POD. Even earlier, at Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall, he blends into the crowd and manages to not catch any suspicion despite actively threatening the life of a teenager. He’s the type to go out into society when he needs to calm down, despite hating everything about it; he don’t act antisocially, he just doesn’t show any respect or care for the norms he uses to blend in when needed.
‘He’s inherently broken.’ It’s been heavily implied that he was manipulated into his state since Kamino, but chapter 222 made is blatantly obvious: Shigaraki’s rage, his ideals, his cruelty, is all a product of his not getting enough help as a child and instead only having AfO and his followers to help him grow up around his trauma.
‘Shigaraki is shallow, confusing, and doesn’t know what he’s doing’ His goals may seem empty and shallow, but given his backstory and trauma it makes a lot of sense and is quite reasonable. Not everyone can relate to the self-destructive feelings of emptiness he describes, but it truly shows that he is aware of what he’s doing, knows what his motivations are, and simply chooses not to care about the morality of consequences of his desires. Despite being clearly manipulated by AfO, he’s not a mindless shell without agency. He’s grown, and even though what he’s becoming is what AfO likely hoped for him to be, he’s still able to make his own decisions. The emptiness he feels is not his fault, but he is still able to look at his feeling and, using what he knows, choose where to go from there. He may be a victim, but he’s still a villain, and a rather self-aware and content one. He wants to destroy everything, he knows why he wants to destroy it, and that is more than enough for him.
‘Shigaraki actively wants to heal and do better.’ Perhaps deep down what he wants is something softer, to find people to care about, to feel peace and happiness. Perhaps he wants to get rid of the emptiness, to ‘feel good’ again. But perhaps not. If he does care, it’s not like he’s putting any stock in that desire. As the adult he is now, he’s content with being cruel. He’s shown no remorse, and no desire for healing or redemption. Every living thing bothers him, so why not destroy it? It’s not like he cares about the consequences.
WHAT IS UNCERTAIN:
How much of his childhood memory is accurate? From right when I first read the chapter something seemed really off, and the many many meta (too many for me to link all of them) about this seem to agree; the facts don’t all add up, and there’s more going on in his past than even Shigaraki himself may be aware.
On that note: we don’t know if he cares about whether his memory is tampered with, or whether he is even actually ignorant about the fact. Shigaraki is content in his hatred, and truly believes he is right to do so; why should he care if it was intentionally created by his Sensei? Perhaps learning the truth would ruin Shigaraki, putting him at odds with AfO and maybe even redirecting his anger towards the one who raised him. Or maybe learning the truth would be a non-issue, because he believes the conclusions he’d drawn are still true even if they were caused by manipulation. It could even be that Shigaraki already suspects it was altered in some and simply doesn’t care. At this point it’s too early to tell.
What was his family like before AfO found him? Some people believe he was abused by his birth family, others that he had very loving and kind family (and perhaps was forced to torture or kill them). Shigaraki himself said that he has only fragments of memory from when he was young, that he so there’s no way of knowing. We also can’t truly know if he would feel any differently now if he found out one or the other to be true.
When did Kurogiri come into his life, and how complicit was he in Shigaraki’s abuse and manipulation? While clearly not a ‘father/mother figure’ like fanon likes to portray him, we still don’t know when he joined, what type of relationship they had, and how much interaction they had before planning the attack on USJ. To be honest, we don’t know much of *anything* about Shigaraki’s life with AfO.
How did AfO treat Shigaraki long term after taking him in? Was it with a false nurturing persona, to make Shigaraki dependent on him? Did he constantly put Tomura into dangerous situations to make him prove himself and grow, much like what he’s putting Shigaraki through even now that he’s in jail? Did Shigaraki have any outside contact with the world beside AfO, the Doctor, and potential Kurogiri/other minions as well?
Where exactly does Shigaraki’s rage come from? While he clearly believes it’s towards the world, and hates pretty much everything, it’s hard to say where exactly it originate from aside from general trauma. Is it truly towards society and the people in it, like he says? And if it is, *why* does he hate them so much? Perhaps it’s hatred towards a world he doesn’t deserve and can never be a part of. Or hatred towards himself, spreading out past his own self and infecting the rest of the world so that he hates all living things. Maybe it’s even hatred towards AfO, who never let him heal all so that he could become a weapon. Still, it could be from a genuine hatred for society that failed to save, manipulated by AfO until he couldn’t feel anything beyond it. Personally, I think it’s a mix of many of those things, all combining into a mess he’s not sure how to explain but has nonetheless come to terms with and accepted. Either way, as with many of the other things here, it’s too soon to tell.
How does he truly feels about his companions? Does he genuinely care about them? Tolerate and respect them, but only on a professional level? Or does his hollow hatred extend to them as well, and he treats them with respect in order to maintain their respect? Clearly he values them in some way, but how can we know if its more than instrumental value? I’d personally say one of the first two is most likely, but there’s still no actual way of knowing.
How does he truly feel about himself? If he content with who he is, or just grudgingly accept it because he knows no alternative? Is his hatred of the world simply hatred of himself directed outwards? Or does he truly care for himself, and want to destroy for more direct reasons?
How exactly does his quirk work? Whenever he decays someone it still leaves blood behind, so does it not work on liquids? Or, since him decaying a piece of clothing does not automatically spread to the person under it, does it only work on one type of substance at a time and blood is considered different enough from the rest of the body to not be affected? In USJ he managed to decay Aizawa’s elbow before his quirk stopped. With Overhaul he cut off his arm to prevent his quirk from spreading across his whole body. So did perhaps Erasure save Aizawa’s life because Decay’s progression was reliant of Shigaraki’s continued quirk factor even after the fact of it being activated? Or was Shigaraki bluffing with Overhaul, to be more cruel? Has he learned to control his quirk with more finesse over time? Or was it something planned by AfO, just another thing to change him from Tenko to Tomura? Is his quirk even his own?
So in the end, who is Shigaraki Tomura? I don’t know, but I hope we’re going to learn more.
#shigaraki tomura#tomura shigaraki#bnha meta#((is this meta???? idk man. its something???))#not to b controversial but yeah#because things like 'knowing' can b hot topic debate around here in fandom#so hopefully what i consider 'clearly obvious/canon' is stuff others agree count as that#long post#mine

BNHA Rewatch: Season 1 Episode 6 “Rage, You Damn Nerd”
mysterylover123
Episode 6, with the best most hilarious title ever! Tells you exactly what you’re in for.
Finally, Bakugos reaction! I seriously was waiting through all three episodes for this. Like a Hitchcockian bomb under the table. Almost literally!
Bakugou .exe has stopped working.
Aizawa starts his pattern of lying to Class A to get them to do their best. He kinda stops doing this after a while, I’m guessing because it doesn’t take lying anymore, just let Wonder Duo go running off at the mouth and they’ll do the job just as well.
Momo’s first line! I think we’re introduced to her in a method meant to make her seem a bit smug and condescending, which is interesting - Momo has a similar trajectory to Bakugou in some ways, introduced as Hot Shit and embarrassment used to break that ego, so this is important to keep in mind.
Aizawa and All Might seemed like they were gonna have a rivalry in early drafts and that got dropped. Anyway, I’m noting the timeline here, as All Might drops the info that this is April 8 (April Fool’s day was Last Week).
The friendship trio forms! Yay! (BTW I ship Uraraka and Iida, if you didn’t know.) We get a quick sum up of life at UA (sob why can’t my school be more like this) and then transfer on to the start of the Battle Trial Arc. Here it goes!
Everyone’s in costume! I figured I’d use my fave Costumes for my ranker today, so I’ll comment on them below. (BTW I loved this arc a lot the first time around. I adored how perfect it feels as a simulated Heroes v Villains exercise.)
All the detailed info on designing costumes and enrolling quirks is another thing I enjoy about BNHA; it feels like such a well-realized world, probably the most fully realized one I’ve encountered in some ways. Horikoshi is so obsessive over details, I love it.
And it actually serves as a means to illustrate character. Since they designed the costumes themselves, everyone’s choices tell you a little something about who they are. I think that both Deku and Kacchan’s costumes are designed to look like All Might’s - both have pointy hoods like his spiky hair, both have metal gear around the neck, etc. They look alike, yet opposite.
Deku’s first costume is so doofy looking, though. And it’s kind of symbolic of his whole issue at this point: he wants too badly to be like All Might, so he covers up his own face with a mask that has this weird, distorted fascimile of All Might’s hair and smile. He really needs to up that confidence!
This is followed by an adorable sequence of All Might trying to be a teacher and explaining the rules of the BTA. I totally empathize with All Might here; starting at a new job like this can’t be easy. (now I’m thinking about the “Even Idiots Can be Teachers” joke in Episode 52 and laughing)
I wish there was more to comment on with the BTA teams. A few of them feel important. Kaminari and Jirou, of course; one of my ships, they hang out a lot. Also , Ojiro/Tooru, and Tsuyu/Tokoyami get teamed up here (but not Momo and Shoto or Kiri/Mina, so I refuse to call it a shipping pattern). Ashido and Aoyama have a bit of a rivalry going on that starts here. Everyone else’s is pretty random.
And now the fated showdown of destiny! Well, the first time, anyway. I could watch these two fight all day. The whole series could just be them fighting each other back and forth and yelling while YSR plays and I’d be fine.
Bakugou is so salty about Deku! The first time around, of course, he just comes across as an asshole. Rewatching it though, it does seem fairly reasonable to be pissed off that Deku’s apparently been lying to him this whole time (because he doesn’t know about OFA, and Deku didn’t even both to lie to him like he did to his mom), and they are fighting in an organized combat mission, so his behavior here makes total sense in hindsight. Amazing how that character development works.
Uraraka is initially really blase about doing well. in hindsight, I think one of her flaws (at this stage, anyway) was that she basically didn’t know what she wanted and pretty much coasted on Deku (she says as much during the sports festival). She gets over that quickly, but flaws make good characters, so I wanted to point it out.
Incoming Deku “Kacchan Sugoi” moment #1. I love this little twist, too, on the way we perceive Deku. He doesn’t want revenge on Katsuki or something like that. He wants to beat him (”the incarnation of victory”). Deku is not some frail flower needing protection from the world. Don’t let his cuteness fool you.
Deku is so effing cool here, TBH - brilliant, tactical, strong, and brings his rival down to earth by judo-tossing him. Damn, the animation on Baku hitting the floor though, you can feel that impact. No wonder he was so pissed! (Deku’s strategic mind is one of my favorite things about him. Also the symbolism in Baku blasting away part of his All Might mask! 1/2 of the whole!)
“From now on, Deku is the name of my hero!” Once again that trio of foil-y ness between Deku, Kacchan and Uraraka. I wonder if it’s a relic of when the series was originally gonna be them as a trio, a la Naruto/Harry Potter/etc, so they were designed to all foil each other in some way? It’s not as much in the series proper, but it’s interesting nonetheless. Also, You Say Run! Down the bottle! (3rd episode in a row).
In sum, I love this episode. Costumes! All Might teaching! The Battle Trial Arc! Bakugou being crazy (I mostly gush over Deku a lot, but I love Kacchan too. Crater-sized faults and all). And of course, all of the...
BKDK Corner:
Cute flashbacks! Adorable flashbacks are adorable. Little Bakugou is so arrogant; if he was an adult he would be insufferable, but because he’s just a kid it’s cute.
Now to get into a little analysis! This ep marks the first time we actually delve into the depths of Bakugou’s psyche, and basically to sum it up: He’s scared of Deku because he deep down knows that Deku is better than him, fearing that Deku will surpass him, and doesn’t understand why. It’s amazing how the characters introduced at this part of the series as simple archetypes (relatable hero, bully, nice girl, uptight boy) become so complex as the series goes on. Not to be taken at face value.
Uraraka changing the meaning of Deku is another moment that parallels the Deku/Kacchan and Deku/Ochaco dynamics. Again, I’m not sure what that means in the long run, only that paralleling Izuku’s romance subplot with his main rivalry has interesting implications.
“So, you know Bakugou? He’s kind of mean to you, right?” ‘“Yes but he’s also super amazing special awesome and cool and did I mention amazing? Let me present my eighty page thesis to you on why Kacchan is cool.” OK, exaggerating. But it is interesting how much Deku admires and looks up to Kacchan despite him being such a jerk, so seemingly the opposite of what Deku wants to be as a hero. Basic 2 sides/same coin stuff, of course. Kacchan has all the self-assurance, power and pride that Deku lacks (at least at this point).
Deku speaks fluent Kacchan and predicted exactly what he would do. He knows his S/O so well.
“I took notes on all amazing heroes, including you” Subtle, Deku. Wanna make your crush a little more obvious? (also check out the BNHA smash comic of this, where he takes it up a notch and reveals what a full-blown stalker he actually is).
This is definitely their lowpoint of antagonism, though. This early part of the series, where they’re both mad at each other. I do think that Deku never really hated Bakugou, though; he hates things about him, but not him as a person. (Deku is way too forgiving.) Bakugou hated him, but I think that’s fading away in the current timeline (so weird, the last time we saw these two in the manga they were chilling on a couch together and drinking tea. Such a crazy contrast with rewatching this!)

Ranker: Favorite Hero Costumes
5. Nejire Hado’s!
I’m not sure why, but she has one of my favorite costumes of the whole series. it looks so good on her, it’s simple and tells you who she is.
4. Izuku Midoriya’s (3.0)!
Deku’s third costume is amazing and looks cool. It’s sleek and powerful and badass, somehow taking that dopey baseline design and turning it awesome.
3. Camie Utsushimi’s!
It’s so simple yet so great. Bodysuit, white boots and that awesome Shiketsu hat. Yet it works. It looks cool, even with the boob window.
2. Katsuki Bakugo’s!
It’s so ridiculous and yet so perfect. Exactly what you’d expect Bakugo to design for his outfit. Keeping in character and suitably dark.
1. Ochaco Uraraka’s!
My favorite in the whole bunch. It looks so much like a space heroine super suit - I especially like it with the helmet. It’s all there for her quirk, too - there’s an explanation behind each piece of gear. (BTW, Bakugou and Uraraka had the same designer. They really lucked out!)

bnha rewatch: episodes 6-8
In which I dive deep into Bakugou’s head, how society has helped warp him into the asshole that he is at the start of the show, and how he is schooled by Aizawa, All Might, Momo, Todoroki, and especially Midoriya to start his path to becoming a hero. Prepare yourself. I love Angry Explosion Boy and his fraught bond with Midoriya, so there are a lot of words here. If you’d like to read my thoughts about prior episodes, click on the ‘bnha rewatch’ tag. I’m also posting them on AO3; you can find the link to my account at the top of my Tumblr.
“Rage You Damn Nerd,” “Deku vs. Kacchan,” and “Bakugou’s Start Line”
Episode eight’s title (“Bakugo’s Start Line”) defines this set of episodes as it is this set that dive headfirst into Bakugou’s primary arc for the first three seasons. Part of Midoriya’s arc so far is to have the curtain pulled back on the hero world so he can learn the harsh truth of it (exemplified primarily by Toshinori in his true form and by Aizawa as well). This knowledge will likely help him to become an even greater hero than All Might, who saved people and provided them a sense of safety, but who also bears responsibility for skewing heroics into a singular, spectacular show. I doubt Midoriya will ever be a performative hero like Toshinori is with All Might. Though Midoriya has a mask with his costume (the bunny ears and mouth guard, i.e. the All Might components to the costume), it’s been consistently forgotten or destroyed. Midoriya as a hero is Midoriya himself. It’s why his hero name is Deku, after all, and not some pseudonym that highlights his powers or some other flashy attribute.
Bakugou’s arc reflects Midoriya’s. If Fanboy Midoriya at the start of the story reflects society’s warped view of heroism (utterly dazzled by the RAZZLE DAZZLE show aspect of heroing that I’ve discussed previously with All Might and Mic), then Bakugou reflects the product of such a society and its warped view. Bakugou’s sense of himself and his place in the world is largely shaped by society and its twisted views on quirks and heroism. This is not to say that Bakugou does not bear responsibility for his beliefs and his actions. He does. It’s just that those beliefs, which prompted many of those actions, were not the product of himself alone.
It’s notable that, before Bakugou got his quirk, Midoriya describes him as confident: “It seemed like [Bakugou] could do anything. No matter what he decided to do, he was always so confident.” This confidence changes after Bakugou receives his quirk. Bakugou changes after he receives his quirk, and it’s due in part to society’s twisted view of quirks (and thus to his twisted view of quirks as he has grown up in and been influenced by this society).
A side note → This is another place we can hold Toshinori partially at fault for how society and its view on quirks and heroism has developed. He’s kept the nature of his power secret from everyone. In episode eight, Recovery Girl confronts him about this: “Does it really matter if you were born with your quirk? Do you have to be the symbol of peace? Is it that important?” He says yes, proclaiming that, if people knew this power could be passed from one person to another, the temptation of it would become too great. This is likely true. This is a society that reveres power, after all. We see this in the first episode when one of the bystanders in the opening fight wishes he had a powerful quirk like Death Arms does. However, Toshinori keeping the true nature of his power a secret also upholds this reverence for “natural power,” meaning it upholds the idea of judging someone’s worth based on the quirk they inherit, rather than on their other qualities. Toshinori’s secret has contributed to the society in which Midoriya is deemed useless and worthless due to his quirklessness. This is why I think that the truth of Midoriya’s quirk will be revealed to society as a whole, and this revelation will rock society and change it for the better. It’s not “luck” or “destiny” that matters, meaning it’s not the quirk you inherit that is important. It’s the effort you put forth, how you use that power, the kind of person you are that counts the most.
As Toshinori tells Midoriya, there’s a difference between being lucky and deserving: the first is an accident and the latter is one you earn through effort.
Back to Bakugou → The fabulous montage in episode seven (“Deku vs. Kacchan”) shows how society’s reverence for quirks and power inflate his ego. Kids and adults, including his teachers, constantly praise him (“a flashy quirk for a future hero”), and young Bakugou comes to believe this wholly: “I am amazing. I bet there’s no one as great as I am!” To Bakugou (and to society) he has an awesome quirk, which means that he himself is awesome (although he did absolutely nothing to receive this quirk, it being determined by luck and genetics). Bakugou’s life up until his abduction by the sludge villain reinforces this. The first scene we see of him in his middle school classroom shows this most clearly. He blows up Midoriya’s desk and threatens him with an explosion (he looms over Midoriya, who cowers on the floor, with smoking hands), AND HIS TEACHER DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO STOP HIM. His bad behavior is condoned by society because he has a good quirk.
Contrast this to the first class Bakugou has at UA (seen at the start of “Rage You Damn Nerd”). He does as he has in the past- he threatens Midoriya with his quirk when he gets angry- and yet here Aizawa shuts him down immediately. This begins the crucial second step of “Bakugou Gets His Twisted Illusions about Himself, Quirks, and Heroics Stripped Away until He’s Confronted with the Truth of All Things (and of All Might).” The first step, of course, was the sludge villain and Midoriya (“useless Deku”) helping to save him, which rocked his views of himself and of Midoriya too, which he uses to reinforce his view of himself. In this second step, not only is Bakugou forced to deal with adults who chastise him for doing as he’s always done (Aizawa and then All Might, who calls him out on his inflated pride), he’s forced to deal with the even more shocking fact that the feature upon which he’s built his entire sense of self-worth (his quirk) may not be all that it’s cracked up to be.
See Momo, Todoroki, and Midoriya (here representing the head, hand, and heart- or intelligence, power, and character).
I think it’s important that the characters who cause Bakugou to reasses are two of the four who got into the hero program on recommendations (and thus are “better” than Bakugou) and the one who (in his view) should not even be there. The ‘best’ beat him (Momo intellectually and Todoroki with his power), and the ‘worst’ beats him (Midoriya in the heroes vs. villains match up) as well. I don’t think one by themselves would have such the profound impact that both have on Bakugou.
Momo criticizes Bakugou for his grenade blast, the massive display of power that he wielded in the match. The grenade blast displays the utter power of his quirk. It’s supposed to be both effective and impressive, yet to Momo, it’s neither. All that move showed was Bakugou’s lack of good judgment, a point reinforced by All Might when he chastises Bakugou for using it and says he’ll be penalized if he does it again. How much must that burn for Bakugou: his first interaction with his idol, and his idol criticizes, rather than praises, him.
And then Todoroki. He beat his opposing team BY HIMSELF in less than a minute. Bakugou spent the entire 15 minutes of his allotted time fighting “quirkless, useless Deku,” AND HE LOST. Momo and Todoroki (and Aizawa and All Might) show how the way that Bakugou has operated before as well as the tools of his operation (his quirk) are insufficient.
Side note → I find it interesting that what finally pulls Todoroki into the narrative is Bakugou, not Midoriya. The first time Todoroki speaks in the show is when Bakugou finally demonstrates how skilled he is with his quirk, when he pivots midair over Midoriya in their one-on-one fight to blast Midoriya in the back. Todoroki says of Bakugou, “He doesn’t come off as a guy with a strategy, but he’s actually quite intelligent… very clever.”
Back to Bakugou. If he’s been schooled so far at UA by Aizawa, All Might, Momo, and Todoroki, his most significant schooling comes from the source of his first schooling: Midoriya. He’s right at the end of episode eight when he says that Midoriya humiliated him. Midoriya, obviously, does not do this intentionally. He wanted to beat Bakugou, not beat him down. But beating him IS beating him down in Bakugou’s mind. For the majority of their time, Midoriya (without his quirk, thus as ‘quirkless, useless Deku’) outsmarts Bakugou. He predicts Bakugou’s opening right hook and flips him flat on his back, he nearly captures Bakugou with the capture tape, he successfully evades Bakugou for a significant chunk of time. In fact, Bakugou only gets the upper hand after he goes FULL QUIRK with his grenade blast. But even after this Midoriya humiliates him because, for Bakugou, this has been ALL ABOUT DEKU, but for Midoriya, this has ultimately been about winning the match (Bakugou to Midoriya as he’s talking to Uraraka on the comm: “Are you ignoring me again? I’ll get your attention”). How much must that vex Bakugou? The first reminiscence of his that we get is of Midoriya trailing after him with a look of utter adoration in his eyes, and now he’s not even top priority for Midoriya any more.
The reason he gives for hating Midoriya is tied to this as well. Bakugou flashes back to the first time Midoriya stands up to him (what we see in the first few minutes of the first episode). Here, not only is Midoriya NOT fawning all over Bakugou and his explosive perfection, he’s daring to criticize Bakugou for his bad behavior. Midoriya is one of the few people in these opening episodes (either in the present or in the flashbacks) that criticizes Bakugou for his behavior (Bakugou’s lackeys do it seconds before the sludge villain is set free, calling him out for his harsh bullying of Midoriya, but they didn’t try to stop him as he was doing it, not like Midoriya does in the flashback). To Bakugou, the least important and significant of society, quirkless and thus useless Deku, dares to criticize him, the most gifted and awesome of anyone he knows. It’s easy to see how he twists this into Midoriya thinking that he’s better than Bakugou. If Midoriya didn’t think he was better than Bakugou, he wouldn’t be criticizing him. He’d be fawning all over him as everyone else does.
The irony is that Midoriya DOES revere Bakugou, but he does so in spite of Bakugou’s flaws, not because Bakugou lacks any flaws altogether.
To Bakugou, this incorrect belief that he has of Midoriya thinking he’s better than him is reinforced by the revelation of Midoriya’s quirk. Midoriya mentions in the third episode how no one thinks quirks can be passed on the way that One for All is passed along. Knowing this, he proclaims, would force society to completely rethink everything it knows and thinks about quirks. So of course Bakugou thinks that Midoriya just kept his quirk a secret from him. This becomes then either Midoriya not thinking that Bakugou was worth telling, or that Midoriya was just laughing at him and his cluelessness the entire time they knew each other. In no way does Bakugou think that Midoriya wouldn’t tell him of his “secret quirk” because he’s treated Midoriya like dirt nearly his entire life. To Bakugou, the fault lies with Midoriya, not with himself. To admit that would be to admit that his entire sense of self is wrong, that HE is wrong. Which he is and thankfully, eventually, begins to learn, starting here.
Just a few words on Midoriya in these episodes. If it’s vitally important for Bakugou in the long run that Midoriya beats him, it’s equally as important for Midoriya. All Might recognizes this and (foolishly as a teacher, but feelingly as a mentor) lets the wild fight progress. Bakugou at this point represents both the worst and the best for Midoriya. Bakugou is the worst in his constant dismissal of Midoriya as useless and worthless because he doesn’t have a quirk. For Midoriya to go toe-to-toe with Bakugou for so long in this match without using his quirk is an important step in him building his self-confidence. He CAN do it. He’s not useless Deku anymore. Deku is the name of a hero. Additionally, Bakugou represents the best for Midoriya. He came in first in the entrance exam (and likely the quirk assessment test too). As Midoriya tells Uraraka, Bakugou’s “strength and confidence and ambition, not to mention his quirk, they’re so much greater than mine… but that just means I have to do better.” Qurikless Midoriya needed to prove that he could against Bakugou. Quirked Midoriya needs to do the same. Deku is the name of a hero.
The only way he can do that at this point though is reckless self-sacrifice, which many people call out, including Momo and Recovery Girl. That is not sustainable, as Aizawa said in episode five. What use is such power if Midoriya is rendered useless after one punch? Just as Bakugou’s big blast was reckless and stupid, so too was Midoriya’s. They may have allowed both of them to accomplish their short term goals, but in the long term such actions will only result in their self-destruction. Thankfully, both will learn.

Class 1-A vs. Tickle Might: Part 1
<< Prologue (in case you’re wondering what’s going on) :: Part 2 >>
(A/N: Thank you so much to everyone who offered their kind feedback, especially @gigglingknight ! 2.7k words and 4 kids - Mineta’s not getting back up again - down, 16 to go! Hope you enjoy, and please let me know what you think - favorite scene, constructive criticism - your feedback will keep me awake at night to write part 2!)
The forty combined eyes of class 1-A were locked on All Might as he leapt gracefully from the wall of the training grounds, passing overhead and descending in a lazy arc into the mock city before them.
“He moves like a missile,” Momo said thoughtfully. “You would think such a big person would be less aerodynamic.”
Other students were less calm. “He’s gonna kill us all!” Mineta yelled. “I won’t get to enjoy my summer break at all!”
Hagakure clung to Ojiro’s arm. “Guys, I bet Aizawa-sensei sent him to beat us up before training camp. He probably thinks we won’t cause as much trouble if we’re all in full-body casts!”
Ojiro laughed, but he too was looking at the cluster of buildings in obvious dismay. “All Might’s the number one hero, he wouldn’t just indiscriminately fight us. I think.”
Even Aoyama’s sparkle was a little dimmed, his eyes wide in alarm behind his visor. “Mon dieu, didn’t you see what he did to Bakugou and Midoriya? His smile was as twinkling as ever, but… it was scary!”
“And he’s at full strength this time,” Satou added, his big lips pursed.
Those of them who were afraid edged closer to one other, clutching at armor and fabric and hands as if hoping they would fuse together into a single pro capable of taking on the Number One Hero. A select few, though, prepared to rally.
“It’ll be all right, guys!” Deku was smiling. Of course he was. “There’s a lot of us, and we have more experience using team attacks now! I’m sure we can impress All Might and Aizawa-sensei!”
Iida frowned. “Won’t it be easier for him to find us if we all stay in a group?”
“Maybe, but I feel safer with you guys!” Sero said.
“Yeah!”
“Let’s come up with a plan!”
A familiar snarl filled the air. “You extras can plan all you want!” Bakugou announced. “I’m going to face him head on! The only thing that would make me surrender is having to listen to you idiots for another minute!” He spun on his heel and stalked off, quickly disappearing behind the piles of concrete.
Kirishima grinned. “Guess I know what I’m doing, then.”
Mineta howled. “Just let him die! He’s really annoying! And if you get caught in the crossfire between him and All Might there’s no way you’ll survive.”
He shrugged. “Maybe, but I can’t just let him go in alone! And besides, what could be a manlier last sight on Earth than those two going at it?”
“I’ll come too,” Mina said, bouncing up and down on her toes. “I want to watch! And maybe I can get some surprise attacks in with my acid!”
The two of them headed off together after Bakugou, cheerily waving a goodbye to the rest of the group. Kaminari waved back at them like it was the last he would ever see of his two friends. Jirou scoffed and turned to look at the two planners left in their group. “Let’s call them the distraction, then… Momo, Midoriya, do you guys have any ideas?”
Bakugou’s arms throbbed inside his gauntlets.
The wounds from his finals match had been healed by Recovery Girl - the old hag had been surprised that he’d been hurt so bad, even though Deku was in the next bed over with a shitty bruised spine, as if he wasn’t just as dedicated to winning even if it means shattering every bone in his damn arm – but the memory of just how much it hurt was still in there.
He almost wished Kirishima was here to guard his back. Shitty Hair could take a punch, at least. Maybe even one of All Might’s. But he didn’t need him to win. All he needed was the chance to get in one good blow of his own this time –
A sound behind him. He whirled around, one sweat-filled hand slinging behind him with even more force. As soon as he could see his target, he would –
Something closed around his wrist. A sudden jerking sensation as his arm was pulled upwards, and the explosion seared harmlessly into the air.
All Might was holding him suspended by one hand. Like a freaking ragdoll. “Ah, young hero! I might have expected you to come face me head-on.”
Instead of replying, he tried to blast the man with his other hand. It joined the other above his head just as quickly, held in that same massive grip. “What are you doing? DON’T RESTRAIN ME, YOU SHITTY – let me fight, old man!”
All Might propped his free hand on his hip. “A brave face, huh? You must really want a rematch. I think your sleeveless uniform’s really going to put you at a disadvantage in this round…”
He cocked his hand, fingers spread stiffly for a grab or chop, and Bakugou wasn’t afraid, he wasn’t, but that didn’t keep his body from flinching, a fruitless attempt to protect himself from the painful blow.
His captor paused. “Young Bakugou, are you – are you frightened of me?”
“No.”
He lowered his arm enough for Bakugou to get his feet on the ground – still up on his toes, but at least he wasn’t hanging there like a sack of meat. “My boy, I must say that I’m very sorry about the end of our last battle. I wouldn’t have stopped you so forcefully if I didn’t think you were about to seriously injure yourself.”
“I’m not fucking afraid, okay? Just hit me already so I can hit back.”
All Might looked unconvinced. “Ah, that’s… good, young hero! Such an indomitable spirit!” His smile grew impossibly wider. “Besides, you won’t come to any harm today!”
“Oh yeah? Then what the fuck are we here to do, talk each other into submission? And what do you mean, I’m at a disadvantage because my uniform doesn’t have sleeves?”
“Ah, yes.” All Might cocked his hand again. His fingers were wiggling this time, and somehow this spiked Bakugou’s apprehension in an entirely different way. “Allow me to demonstrate.”
He’d never put much thought into a costume redesign, but as All Might’s evil hands came in contact with his bare armpits he decided that he needed more armor. Immediately. “W-whahaHAT! THE HEHEHELL?!” His palms were sparking uselessly into the sky, face bent into a helpless grin, and shit he was glad that none of the others in his class were here right now.
It was a relief, almost, not to be thrust into another bloody fight with his hero, but that didn’t stop him from kicking and screaming bloody murder, still on his tiptoes as he strained for some leverage to protect himself. All Might was chuckling. “I think this is the first time I’ve seen you smile, young Bakugou! A very good imitation of my trademark, but perhaps we can do better!”
“NOHO – nowecan’t – AHAHA!” His entire torso was helpless under the attack, and his face hurt from smiling so hard. It wasn’t long before he couldn’t take it anymore. “OKAY nonONO not thaHAT just fucking STOP I GIVE I GIVE!”
All Might let him down gently, giving one last triumphant laugh as he patted Bakugou on the back. “An admirable effort, my boy.”
“I didn’t even do anything,” he mumbled into the ground. Was he still grinning? He was, like an idiot. He was an idiot. This was terrible.
Footsteps skidded into the street. “Bakubro, we heard you screaming – laughing? – oh shit, he’s here-”
Bakugou forced his head up. Kirishima and Mina. They’d probably followed him in.
He snorted. “You’re next, morons. Better run if you’re ticklish.”
They’d worked three-quarters of the way through a plan involving Sero’s tape (just. So much tape), Tsuyu’s mucus secretion, and a titanium bondage set from Momo when an explosion roared through the air.
“Kacchan,” Deku gasped. His theory was confirmed when the explosion died down only to be replaced with cursing at only a slightly reduced volume. And then there was the screaming.
“Such darkness,” Tokoyami intoned. “It will swallow us all.”
The screams continued, Bakugou sounding truly desperate. “OKAY nonONO not thaHAT just fucking STOP I GIVE I GIVE!”
Mineta fainted.
The racket tapered off at last, All Might’s laugh echoing tinnily in their ears as they all shivered. “Do you think he’s still alive?” Uraraka whispered. “Man, this is scary.”
Deku’s mind raced. The other students were thinking frantically too, but he had two pieces of information that no one else knew.
The first: In all the videos he’d seen of All Might, he’d never heard of him making a villain beg for mercy. All Might preferred to harm the villains he captured as little as possible, making it easier to the police to detain them without having to provide medical treatment and having the added effect of minimizing property damage.
The second: He’d grown up with Kacchan, who had never been in the habit of screaming in anything other than rage. The only thing that had ever made him howl like that had happened when they were little, and it was – it was –
Oh.
“Midoriya’s about to faint,” Todoroki said.
“Deku?” Uraraka shook him. “What’s going on?”
He swallowed. “We need to split up and hide. Now.”
The class looked at each other in alarm. If even he couldn’t maintain his determination…
They were all going to die.
“We’re not going to die!” Mina gushed. “This is so fun! This is fantastic!”
She and Kirishima were sprinting away from All Might as fast as they could, taking corners at random in hopes that they would lose him. “Yeah, if we can make it back to the others, they’ll definitely be less scared!”
“Are you certain of that, young hero?”
They both skidded to a stop, but Kirishima still crashed into All Might’s massive chest and rebounded onto the ground. Mina shot past them both with a shriek. “All Might!”
The man crouched over him. “I was surprised not to find you with your friends, young Kirishima.”
“We were trying to find Bakugou,” he admitted, rubbing the back of his head. “Mina and I are really bad with directions though, so we got lost until we heard him screaming.”
“It seems you arrived at the perfect time to become my next victim,” the hero intoned, and wow that smile was the most ominous thing he’d ever seen now.
“I – haha –“ Kirishima spluttered, before remembering that he had a quirk. “Ha!” he exclaimed, activating his quirk and feeling immensely relieved as his skin hardened to a rock-like texture. “There’s no way you can tickle me now!”
“It will be more difficult,” All Might mused. Suddenly, he yanked one of Kirishima’s boots off. “I wonder, do your palms and soles harden as well?”
Kirishima, who’d had his quirk for all of twelve years, suddenly couldn’t remember. He glanced frantically at one of his hands and mentally cheered. “Ah, they do.”
All Might frowned, as much as he could frown. “If all your skin hardens, it’s pretty surprising that you can move at all…” Taking Kirishima’s foot gently in his hand, he rotated it right and left. “If this works, then…”
Kirishima felt something brush against his ankle, and without thinking, snickered at the ticklish sensation.
All Might’s grin came back in full force. Hesitantly, Kirishima offered him a weak smile. “Uh… maybe I just have a really cool quirk… and tickling definitely won’t work on me?”
Turned out, his ankles were traitors. A few scratches from All Might and he was already giggling frantically, his other foot drumming against the ground as he tried to roll over and crawl away. Even worse, as he lost focus his quirk began to waver, and despite his effort of squeezing his eyes shut and trying to will the laughter away he could feel his protective shell softening around him.
“Not so tough now, young hero,” All Might teased, and Kirishima groaned internally at the joke as his torture became a thousand times worse. The soles of his feet, the soft skin behind his knees – even squeezing his calf produced a new wave of laughter from him.
He couldn’t take it. No wonder Bakugou had been collapsed on the ground. “Mihihina…. MINA, HELP!”
A pair of pink arms wound themselves around All Might’s neck – Mina, jumping on his back. “Hi! All Might-sensei, can I go next?”
The tickling eased up a little as All Might turned his head to smile at her. “You know, my girl, this is technically a test.”
She pouted. “I know, but… tickling! I already failed my practical anyway, so I’m sure I’ll have to take the remedial classes. I might as well relax and have some fun while I can instead of running! Right, Kirishima?”
Panting, he considered this situation. This was definitely more fun than a fight, and it was really nice after the nightmare of preparing for finals. “Heh… yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“I can hardly refuse such a polite request,” All Might proclaimed grandly, “but first, I need to hear a surrender from young Kirishima here!” He reached a hand up to scratch at Kirishima’s ribcage, the boy squeaking as he tried to bat it away.
“I could help,” Mina offered slyly.
“No, yOU CAHAN’T!” Two pairs of hands hovered over him, Mina reaching over All Might’s shoulder with her evilest grin. “Wait, wait, I give!”
All Might roared with laughter, offering Kirishima a hearty embrace as he wobbled to his feet. “A smart decision! She’s very determined!”
He glared half-heartedly at Mina, shaking his head with a rueful grin. “I’m going to get you for this.” He turned to All Might. “Do we get to watch the others?”
“You do have to leave the training ground. However, your Aizawa-sensei’s in the evaluation room. If he permits you to enter, then you can watch with him!”
“Cool! I’ll see you there, Ashido.” He looked around. “Which way is the exit again?”
As he left, Mina prepared to jump off All Might and take off – she felt like running at least a little bit, after seeing how wrecked Kirishima looked. But before she could so much as loosen her grip, All Might spoke in a decidedly villainous voice. “Well, young Ashido, this means it’s your turn now.”
He grabbed her uniform and yanked, and the next thing she knew she had tumbled over his shoulder and straight into his arms with a surprised shout. He dropped to the ground, cross legged, and released her unceremoniously into his lap. “Wow, you move… really fast, sensei!”
All Might chuckled. Evilly. “You said you wanted to relax, young hero? Perhaps you’d like a massage?” His fingers dug into the muscle at the back of her shoulders, and she found herself squealing with laughter as they hunched up instinctively. “Hm… you don’t look very relaxed. Maybe a different technique?” Said technique was a light massaging of her ribcage that had her curled into a shaking ball, giggling her head off. “This seems a bit harsh… are you really having fun, young Ashido?”
“Yehehes!” she giggled, burying her head in his shoulder. “Lohots of fun!”
His breath stirred her hair as he huffed with laughter. “All right, then.” He continued happily, paying special attention to her neck when he discovered that tickling her there produced actual cackles. She lasted for nearly three minutes before slapping at his hands and gasping breathlessly for mercy.
All Might waited until she caught her breath to move, standing them up together. She jumped onto him once more, offering him a hug from the front this time. He returned it slowly, a little surprised but pleased nonetheless. “You’ve had your fun, young Ashido! I hope you’ll apply as much dedication to attaining mastery of your studies!”
“I will”, she promised, climbing to his shoulder and somersaulting off to the ground. “Thanks a lot, All Might-sensei! It’s really nice of you and Aizawa-sensei to do this for us!”
He had to point her in the direction of the exit as well. She left with a cheerful smile, and he smiled in return as he cracked his knuckles.
Time to find his next target.

Lost in Thought (AO3|ff.net)
A lot of times when Mashirao fought villains, he thought about his life choices and watched his life flash before his eyes.
So @themusicalbookworm was wondering if Tooru’s blood was invisible and I couldn’t resist the temptation, especially since I love Ojiro and Tooru together.
A lot of times when Mashirao fought villains, he thought about his life choices and watched his life flash before his eyes even though his old homeroom teacher told him a million times over that thinking that way was like asking the enemy to defeat you. Denki, his usual partner, told him that that was always the death flag in manga. But for Mashirao, it made him want to go back home as fast as possible. But this time, Denki wasn't his partner to back him up when he was in a really tight spot. Denki had gone to help out Tenya with some stakeout mission of some sort and Eijirou and Mina had laughed for hours over their drinks the day before about how Denki and Tenya were the worst candidates for discreet missions. Even Katsuki had gotten better at undercover missions.
But Mashirao was letting his thoughts wander in a fight again and he quickly pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind just in time to dodge the axe that was swung at him. There were no objects for him to wrap his tail around and swing out of the dead end he had accidentally cornered himself into. Mashirao clucked his tongue in annoyance. The axe had already nicked his thigh pretty badly so he didn't have the luxury of moving around like he usually did.
Tooru would probably get mad at him for getting into a situation like this yet again. His thoughts often refused to shut up when he was fighting villains. It was the most lasting effect the League of Villains had left on him. Their high school class had been pitted against the group far too many times to count. And Mashirao had met so many villains who thought in different ways, some of them had sometimes sounded right, some of them had been through far too much injustice in their lives that Mashirao had nearly sympathized with a third of them.
Weakness. That's what Katsuki would say. That kind of thinking was weakness. No matter the circumstances, no matter what kind of life someone had led, it still was no excuse for hurting others, for exploiting other, for damaging others.
Tooru would tell him that it made him human though. She said people like Katsuki, Shouto and Tenya were something close to superhuman. They were gifted with steel minds and hearts and the ability to make the right decisions when absolutely needed. She would hold his face with her hands and rubs his cheeks gently with her thumbs and tell him in that sweet, serious and rarely used knowing voice:
"You're so human, Mashirao. More human than so many people I know and I love that about you."
Of course both Tooru and he knew that it didn't mean that the others weren't human, that they never wavered, it just meant that Mashirao was more human - as Tooru would put it. Katsuki still called it weakness though.
Mashirao dodged the axe again and cursed himself under his breath. Instead of dwelling on pointless thoughts, he should be thinking about how to get out of the situation he was in!
If it was Izuku then he would have completely analysed the situation entirely and would have gotten out of the fix he was in in a matter of seconds. Even so, Mashirao was far more distracted than he usually was. Maybe it was because Denki wasn't screaming insults at him every ten seconds to stop him from thinking about useless things in the middle of the battlefield.
"For the love of all things holy, you're like a monkey jumping here and there and not letting me do you in!" The villain roared.
Mashirao smiled wryly. What a very Denki-like insult. He spotted a small opening on the right side and feigned going left and then used his tail to propel him towards the right. He was almost sure he was going to make it when he saw the villain's knife in his left hand come straight at him.
A dozen thoughts hit him at the same time. He would miss asking Hanta to help him paint the room he shared with Tooru five different new colors every month. He would miss Kyoka dropping in to see Tooru and blaring music in their living room at the highest volume. He would miss laughing over Yuga's overly sparkly clothes with Tooru. He would miss all of them. He would especially miss hearing Tooru singing in the shower, her humming when she was baking in the kitchen, her screeches of displeasure when she lost in Othello, her giggles when he would do something far too cheesy and sweet, her full bodied laughter when he would find her sides and tickle her, how she fit so well in his arms, how he would often miss her mouth and just litter her with kisses all over her face instead and he would miss curling up with her lazily on free days. He would miss Tooru.
"Mashirao, snap out of it!" He heard Tooru's voice shout. Mashirao broke out of his thoughts and dropped his body and felt the knife whizz past his hair. He let out a sigh of relief and then turned to the direction from which he heard Tooru's voice. He saw her trademark like gloves and shoes on top of the villain and then he saw her get flung off and out of his sight, covered by the villains large body. He heard a smack against the wall and her grunt in pain and he snarled in rage.
He was completely focused now and he wasn't going to let the villain hurt her anymore. It was over in a matter of seconds and the police arrived to take the villain away and an ambulance arrived as well to make sure no one was hurt as Mashirao helped Tooru hunt for her left glove.
"You sure you OK?" Mashirao asked her. “Maybe you should have gone with the ambulance.”
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just smacked into that wall pretty hard. Nothing, my back can't handle!" Tooru's voice was cheerful but strained and he could hear her short breaths.
"And I keep telling you that your costume is no good for villain fights like this! You get hurt very easily. Come on, we'll get you to the nearest hospital." Mashirao scolded her sternly. "You shouldn't have jumped in."
"And you worry far too much, as always. I was nearby and you were in trouble, of course I had to help." She giggled and then wheezed. "OK, actually, my back feels awful."
"Told you so, come on, give me your hand, I'll have you there in a jiffy." Mashirao held out his hand.
"Wait, wait. I want to walk on my own, maybe a good walk will straighten out my back." She protested, pushing his hand away with her invisible left one. "But we'll go to the nearest hospital, yes." She chuckled quietly and then hissed in what seemed to be pain. "OK, so laughing isn't such a great idea. Let's go, Mashirao." She was smiling at him, he could tell. That tone of voice always meant that she was looking up at him with what he always believed was a beaming eye smile.
"You're so difficult." Mashirao sighed in defeat. He started walking with her by his side. He walked slowly so she wouldn't strain her back. She always told him that he worried too much. But how could he not worry? He couldn't even see if she was badly hurt or in pain and so his mind always took him to worst case scenarios.
She knew he was a worry wart so she always made things seem less serious than they actually were. He didn't really worry a lot, just only when he fought villains and when it came to Tooru. Asking her out back in high school, moving in with her three years after they graduated, falling in love with her everyday and asking her to marry him five weeks ago made her more important to him everyday and he never wanted anything to happen to her. She was clumsy, cheerful and always sticking her nose into troublesome things. How could he not worry?
They were going to get married in three months and all their friends had promised to clear out their schedules for their wedding. Even Momo had promised to fly in from her hero trip to france just for their wedding. All the girls were currently trying to fight for the position of bridesmaid and were doing Tooru all kinds of favours.
"Hey Tooru, did you pick someone to be your bridesmaid?" Mashirao asked, turning.
Silence.
He didn't see her gloves or shoes.
"Tooru?" he called her name, looking around, a bad feeling pooling in the pit of his stomach. He started to walk back in the direction they were coming from. "Tooru? Hey, Tooru, answer me. This isn't funny. Tooru?"
Tooru was a noisemaker. She was constantly making noises to let people know she was there. But now, Mashirao couldn't hear a thing.
"Tooru, are you listening? Where are you?" Mashirao shouted. He started to pick up a run but the cut on his thigh made his leg give away and he fell face forward. Sometimes she did this. She played pranks on him at home and would sneak up from behind, trying to scare the daylights out of him or to get away with something she had done. "This isn't a funny joke, Tooru. Cut it out. Where are you?" Mashirao yelled, pushing himself up with his hands. He spotted her shoes, lying discarded. He knew that Tooru wasn't there but still his heart prayed. He rushed towards the spot and wrapped his arms around air instead of her.
He panicked.
"Tooru! Tooru, where are you?" He screamed. "I can't hear you! Where are you?" He looked around frantically. Out of the corner of his eye he saw her left glove, raised just a little because her hand was in it. He dashed forward and pulled the girl into his arms. It was then he realized she was covered in something very wet. His body chilled. It was her blood.
"...Ah...you found me...I didn't...want you to see-" she coughed, "-me...like this." She was rasping, her breaths short, strained and quiet. "Sorry..."
Mashirao didn't say a word. He shot up and ran, forcing his leg to work with him. His heart pounded in his chest, fear coursed through his veins.
No, no, no, no. I can't lose her like this. I can't. I just have to get her to a hospital.
"I..." She was was crying, her chest heaving, blood bubbling out of her mouth and onto his arm. "I'm so sorry, Mashirao..." She was sobbing, her small and frail body shaking in his arms. She was coughing out more blood, choking on it. Mashirao refused to listen, refused to believe. Not Tooru. He wouldn't let anyone take her away from him. Her cries suddenly died out, her body going still.
Tears filled his eyes but he kept running. He didn't believe it. She had just passed out, gone to sleep. He'd take her to the hospital and she would wake up two days later and he would cry all over her and she would laugh and apologize.
But her always warm hands were already cold.
Mashirao didn't stop running, but he couldn't stop crying either.
