Portrait of a Dangerous Man🎨4
Warnings: (series) non-consent sex and rape; slow creep; cucking; (this chapter) only plot hehe
This is dark!mob!Clark Kent x reader and explicit. 18+ only.  Your media consumption is your own responsibility. Warnings have been given. DO NOT PROCEED if these matters upset you.
Synopsis: Your dream of having your work hung in an art show comes true but your first buyer is not all he seems to be.
Note: I’m at my tipping point, I swear. I’m dealing with everything in our household, new bed (delayed delivery yay!), cleaning, cooking, dog walking, and working. My only escape are my fics and this weekend I’m telling everyone to fuck off so I can do the writeathon... but sorry for the rant, enjoy more Clark.
Thanks to everyone for reading and thanks in advance for all your feedback. :)
I really hope you enjoy. 💋
<3 As usual, I’d appreciate if you let me know what you think with a like or reblog or reply or an ask! Love ya!
Tumblr media
Wednesday trickled by like sand in a glass. You could hardly keep your eyes open as you typed away and a double espresso shot was the only thing that saw you through your hours at the gallery. Vanessa was excited for her next event and already asking after some new pieces from you. You promised her some from your storage unit to stave her off as you held in your yawns.
You collapsed into bed that night beside Marcus. He complained about his day until he drifted off and you followed suit shortly after. You awoke with a decision, the echoes of your boyfriend’s gripes in your head and heart. You hated how miserable his job made him, how dull your own was. It felt like there was nothing else but the almighty dollar.
You called Clark after an email to Jim, your nerves alight in anticipation of the disgruntled reply. It didn’t matter. You were done. You didn’t need to worry about the all caps messages and curt zoom calls.
“Hey,” Clark picked up, he sounded out of breath.
“Oh, hey, sorry, it’s me,” you swiveled in your chair, “I hope I’m not disturbing you.”
“Nope, just getting in a work out,” he grunted, “you’re not bugging me if you have good news for me.”
“I think… I do,” you forced out, “I just sent in my resignation.”
“Mmm, you don’t sound… happy,” he hummed.
“I am, I think I’m just processing it,” you replied, “I said I’d let you know today so I’m letting you know.”
“Well, how soon can you be here?” he asked.
“Today?”
“Sure, why not?”
“I guess, I could leave as soon as you want me,” you said.
“I’ll send a car,” he intoned, “I’ll give the driver your number, if you don’t mind.”
“Yeah,” your voice almost squeaked, “I can do that.”
“Alright, sweetheart, see ya soon.”
The line cut out and you lowered your phone slowly. You stared at Outlook and the new email icon along the taskbar. You closed the laptop and stood. You could worry about the fallout later, right now, you had to get ready for another day of painting.
🎨
It was starting to feel like deja vu every time you arrived at Clark’s house. You got out and thanked the drive, Jeremy, before he drove off. The doors opened before you got to the top of the steps and your host was already dressed in the same outfit he wore for each session. His hair was neat but his beard was even thicker than before.
“I think you can tell I’m a little antsy to start,” he chuckled, “how are you, sweetheart?”
That pet name caught in your mind again. It might just be a habit of his. Nothing more than an absent-minded word.
“Me too, honestly,” you smiled, “but I have a weird question for you.”
“Ask away,” he said as he walked with you through the foyer.
“The beard… you want that in the portrait or--”
“Oh, ha, yeah,” he ran his fingers along his jawline, “I guess I wasn’t thinking. You’re the artist, what do you think?”
“Well, erm, either way is fine,” you said, “I was just… wondering. I’m not even close to starting on, uh, you yet. I mean, right now I’m just working on the background and basic shapes.”
“I’ll let you make the call when you get there,” he said, “say the word and it’s gone.”
“Alright,” you came to the top of the stairs and he pointed you ahead of him.
He followed you as you entered and you went about filling the jar with water and resituating the set up. He sat as you mixed and chose your brush. You climbed the ladder and peered around the canvas at him. He took on the same pose as usual and you dipped the bristles into the pigment. You could make a happy life of this.
🎨
Clark shifted and cleared his throat. You rolled your wrist and glanced back over at him as you drew your hand back from the canvas. He braced the chair and pushed himself up.
“How about a break?” he asked as he shook out his arms, “back’s a bit stiff.”
“Sure,” you said, “I think I could sit down for a moment.”
You took a step down the rung of the ladder but your toe slipped and suddenly your palette was against your chest. You slid down backwards as Clark rushed over and barely kept you from toppling the entire thing over. You laughed at yourself as he righted you and looked down at your paint-streaked shirt.
“Jesus,” you muttered.
“You okay?” he asked as he kept his hand on your upper arm, “be careful.”
“Yeah, I’m-- clumsy, is all,” you carefully pulled away and set down your brush and palette.
“Come on, sit,” he pulled up the stool and planted it before you, “take a minute.”
As you sat, he stretched his arms over his head and then out to the sides. He paced around the other side of the table, long strides as he worked the cramps from his long legs. He stopped and came up to play with a brush as you leaned an elbow on the table.
“Well, I did have another offer for you,” he said, “I was thinking of waiting but might as well ask now.”
“Oh?” you raised your brows curiously.
He swished a slender brush in the air then lowered it and picked at the tip.
“I’m having a get together on Saturday, some business friends and the like,” he said as he set the brush back with the rest, “it won’t be work. You’ve earned some time off. You can even bring the boyfriend.”
“Saturday?” you pondered, “I’m usually at the gallery on Saturdays.”
“It would be great networking,” he said, “and I already told all my friends about you. They’re excited to see your work. It will almost be like a viewing and it’s only right the artist is there.”
“I could make it work,” you mulled, “Marcus would love to come back.” You snickered, “he loves this place.”
“It’s a nice house,” he said casually, “a bit big for one person… hence, the party.”
“I’ll put it in my calendar,” you stood and slid your palette closer and cleaned it off to remix the mess of paints.
“Great,” he said as he rounded the table and brushed close to you, “it’ll be nice to look at a mug besides mine, huh?”
You laughed as you squeezed out the dark paint and nodded, “ha, sure.”
🎨
The rest of your week was spent much the same. Jeremy drove you to Clark’s and you went up to the studio to continue your work between small talk and silences that grew so thick you had to break them with mindless comments. It wasn’t enough to focus on the path of your brush as the man tugged at your attention.
Marcus was excited when you told him about the party. He raved about how he needed to let loose, about how much expensive alcohol he was going to drink, and the awesome backflip he was gonna do into the pool. You reminded him, he hadn’t done anything like that since college but he swore he could still do it.
You didn’t share the sentiment. You were anxious. You were flattered to be invited but despite what Clark said, it still felt like work. His friends were going to be there and he apparently was trying to sell them on your art.
You didn’t realise until after you hit send on your email, but you put your livelihood in this man’s hands. A man, you reminded yourself, who was little more than a stranger.
On Friday, a day you were thankfully not called to the mansion to teeter on the ladder and paint, the buzzer rang and drew you off the couch from amid your YouTube binge. The man on the speaker called back that he had a delivery and you let him up. You took the box from him, the thick silver ribbon giving away the sender even before you could read the tag.
Inside you found a black dress with little gemstones set into the fabric like stars in the sky. It was nicer than anything you’d ever owned before and a pair of silver shoes were tucked in beneath the outfit. You took the shoes from the tissue paper and something else shifted in the bottom.
You reached in and revealed a velvet box from the depths of overzealous stuffing. You opened the lid and found a simple chain of diamonds. You gaped in disbelief. They were real. The fake ones didn’t look so nice.
You phone chimed before you could even think to call Clark. It was as if he could see you. You answered and your voice warbled pathetically.
“Hi, I was just gonna call,” you touched your throat as it constricted.
“Yeah? I got the notification that it was delivered,” he said, “you like it?”
“It’s too much,” you gulped out, “really, I can’t--”
“I want you to look nice. I want you to feel good and have a good time,” he said, “I feel like you’ve been working so hard. You need a chance to just let it all go.”
“Look, I…” you were uncertain how to handle it. It was more than generosity but you felt wrong denying it as much as you did accepting it, “I’ve never had a boss buy me diamonds. At least let me give those back.”
“Boss?” he mused on the word, “I suppose, but you gotta dress the part now, sweetheart. You’re gonna rub shoulders with a lot of rich dicks like me. Pardon my language.”
“I didn’t realise it was such an upscale thing,” you put the velvet box down and turned to sit on the couch beside the large box. You played with the silver ribbon and chewed your lip.
“Sweetheart, it’s nothing, you got this,” he said, “trust me, if you can win me over, my friends will be child’s play.”
“Mhmmm,” you stared at the tv mindlessly, “Clark?”
“Yeah?”
“Why are you doing all this?”
There was silence and you heard him sigh then a subtle metallic click.
“Because I can. And you’re a talented artist. Didn’t all the big painters used to have patrons back in the day? You know, Da Vinci and all that.”
“Sure, I guess--”
“Look, sweetheart, I’m glad you like the dress, I gotta go.”
He hung up abruptly and you turned your phone to stare at it in confusion. You were starting to get a bad feeling and that little voice in that back of your head, that little sabotaging bitch, whispered in your ear. No, you wouldn’t let your self-doubt get the best of you this time. You either grabbed this chance or you spent the rest of your life doing menial work and painting the world as it passed you by.
🎨
Friday night, Marcus couldn’t stop rambling about the party the next day. You just couldn’t get over the tickle in your chest, the same one you got before job interviews and doctor’s appointments. You were on edge, even as you spent your stress on him, your body writhing against his as you panted and pouted. It had been a while since you fucked. All the work and the stress had just let things slip past you. Maybe with your new gig, you could get back to those early days when it was all you wanted to do.
You slept soundly. You blamed the sex and the momentous week. You got up, had a lazy brunch time meal, and beat Marcus at MarioKart several times over before he convinced you it was time to get ready.
You pulled on the gifted outfit after fighting with your make-up and hair. You gave a little tada spin to Marcus and he lifted his brow as he tried to figure out his tie.
“Wow, where’d you get that?” he purred, “fuck, let’s be late.”
He ran his hands over your hips as you neared him and fixed his tie for him. You giggled and planted a kiss on his lips.
“Jeremy’s on his way,” you warned, “I don't wanna bite the hand that feeds.”
“Oh, and it feeds you well,” Marcus chirped, “you think he’ll let me have a spin in the McClaren?”
“Maybe, but I wouldn’t. I don’t need to scrape you off the side of the road,” you took your phone as the screen lit up, “come on, he’s here.”
“Fuck, babe, really, you’re gonna make me follow you out of here with your ass looking like that?”
“Stop,” you tittered, “you know, there might be more sellers tonight?”
“Oh yeah? I guess you’ll be paying a mortgage soon enough.”
“Me?” you scoffed.
“Sure, I’ll be your sugar baby,” he kidded.
“Well, baby is accurate,” you teased as you stepped onto the elevator, “please, just behave.”
🎨
You were surprised to see Vanessa at the party but reassured to see a familiar face. Clark had been distracted by his other guests and you did your best to mingle, letting Marcus take the lead until he was distracted by another guest’s Rolex and started asking too many questions. If you did start selling art to these kinds, you suspected you’d be paying for a lot of overpriced brands. That was a worry for another time.
You stood with Vanessa and a man she introduced you to. Bruce Wayne was tall and his dark-hair was combed back neatly as he spoke over the glass of wine in his hand. You were bored of the Monet-Manet argument, one you’d heard a million times from the stubborn gallery owner, and you were at your limit of socialisation.
You excused yourself and put down your unfinished drink on a table. You looked around but couldn’t see Marcus anywhere. The last you saw him, he was with Clark but you couldn’t find him either. You frowned and wandered between the pairs and trios gabbing around the room.
Just past the bar, you looked back and still no sign of either man. You huffed and your heels clicked into the foyer and to the stairs. You’d go to the studio and sit for a moment and collect yourself. You just needed to take a breath.
You climbed the stairs slowly, the din of the party floating up behind you. You came to the top but stopped as your eyes were drawn to a pair of open doors opposite the studio. You neared and stayed against the wall as you peeked inside. Marcus admired an old-six shooter and spun the barrel.
“You got everything, man, I swear,” you hid behind the door frame and listened.
“Eh, it’s all just things,” Clark replied, “I bought that from an auctioneer down in Texas. A verified antique but it just hangs here. Not good for much but looking at it.”
“Dude, what I wouldn’t do to live here? Have cool guns and even cooler cars? Shit, you know how fucked it is that my lady is making bank and I’m over here with my dick in my hands? I mean, I’m proud of her but… I mean, if I could get paid thousands for drawing, I would’ve tried to learn.”
“She’s good. Dedicated,” Clark remarked, “she’s special. Worth more than money.”
Marcus hummed and you heard the barrel click back into the place. Neither of the men spoke as you heard something shift and Clark cleared his throat. Subtle footsteps moved around the room and you pressed yourself to the wall. You should leave and let them talk but you couldn’t help but be curious.
“Isn’t she?” Clark prodded.
“Y-yeah, but… I don’t know. I just wish I had more,” Marcus said, “I probably sound like a chump, huh?”
“You can’t have it all,” Clark replied.
“Says the guy who can buy anything and everything,” Marcus moped.
“Oh?” Clark intoned, “so… how about it then? Fifty thousand.”
“For what?” Marcus chuckled nervously.
“Her,” Clark answered.
“Her-- I… my girlfriend?” he sputtered.
“If money can buy me anything, that’s what I want,” Clark said firmly, “it’s a one time offer… whether or not you agree to it, I’m gonna fuck her.”
You skin crawled at his words and you covered your mouth in disgust and shock. You inched closer to the door to hear better as you waited for the response.
“One hundred,” Marcus said.
“Seventy-five,” Clark countered.
“That’s my girlfriend, dude,” Marcus hissed.
“And yet you’re haggling with me over her. Eighty.”
You tore yourself from the wall before you could hear anymore. You felt hollow and heavy all at once. Your eyes were glossy as you scurried over to the studio doors and pushed the left one open. You unhooked the diamond necklace and tossed it onto the paint-stained palette and rolled up your brushes.
You stormed over blindly to the easel and pushed it over. It clattered to the floor loudly but you were already out the door and halfway down the stairs. You gripped your clutch and the bundle of paintbrushes tightly as you continued on outside and the blurred outlines of luxury cars passed you by.
You stomped up the long drive in your heels as you flicked away tears and pulled out your phone. You knew it was too good to be true. Any of it; your art, Clark, Marcus. You weren’t good for anyone unless they could get something out of you.

⧉ enhypen as your classmate that has a crush on you! ᝢ ∷
Tumblr media
pairings: ot7 enhypen members x gn!reader
warnings: swearing, mentions of violence in jay’s one
genre: pure fluff + high school!au
a/n this also. Was in my drafts 💭 i was contemplating if i should post this or not but here i am 😫 i Post too much sorry everyone iJust have no life outside of school 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️
Tumblr media
⌗ heeseung
heeseung is definitely the type of person that tries to talk to the person he sits beside all the time
he nudges you all the time and whispers your name whenever he wants your attention
and the fact he had a huge crush on you also added to it
enhypen always have to listen to him since he never ever stops talking about you. like ever.
“oh my god you will never know what y/n told me when i—” and suddenly he’s cut off by the rest of them yelling “we know!”
you never snap at him because you kinda... enjoy the attention
maybe thats how you knew you kinda liked him too, since you could never let sunoo get away with this if he ever called for your name in class
your relationship only stopped there for a while, since the two of you lowkey scared of each other
“no i feel like y/n’s gonna snap at you one day, like completely just punch you in the face” jay once told him and ever since, he’s never looked at you the same
you think heeseung’s just intimidating, the amount of times you’ve jumped in your seat whenever he’s called your name is numerous
although, one day you fell asleep in class due to the fact you left your english essay last minute the night before
heeseung, noticing you drooling on the table, wrote down the notes for you
he handed them to you after class and you were so touched that you couldn’t stop telling sunoo about it
“his hand writing’s so neat and—” “i get it, you can shut up now!”
you even told heeseung his hand writing was the prettiest thing you’ve ever seen for a week straight
he was happy of course, but honestly unsure how he was supposed to reply to the compliment
he figured out by himself that all he needed to do was ask you if you wanted him to write your name
“heeseung, i mean it! i can’t get over how you write ‘the’, it’s just so— so neat!” “oh really? let me write your name out”
being the smooth guy that he was, wrote down his number instead of your name
and you being the oblivious person you were, ended up being utterly confused
“heeseung i think—” “I WROTE MY NUMBER ON PURPOSE”
you never really got over the shock, nonetheless still took his number and texted him that night
you ended that night by kicking your feet in the air with your face feeling like it was on fire
oh, you also ended up planning a date with heeseung on saturday, not a big deal
it was actually the biggest deal ever
the rest of the head canons are under the cut!
⌗ jay
jay was 100% the type to tease someone when he had a crush to get their attention
he wanted all your attention and the way he got that was through telling you your portrait of a dog looked stupid
well yeah, it did but he didn’t need to point it out
everyone in your art class knew jay had a raging crush on you
he just didn’t know how to express it
his friend jake told him the way into your heart was talking about a mutual interest
jake was, sort of, right about his advice. well, until you and jay started bickering about a character you loved but he oh so hated
“mabel in gravity falls was annoying and weird” “jay if you say that one more time i will shove this paint brush down your throat”
jake, who was trying to play cupid, could not understand why he was so bad at this
i mean jay had no problem getting girls to like him but you? did you genuinely hate jay or something?
“no jake i don’t hate jay” well that answered his question
“he’s just weird” “weird? i’m weird?” “yeah do i need to repeat it again? park jay is weird” you two were a match made in heaven
jay didn’t know when but he had a revelation, maybe this wasn’t the approach he should take to get your attention
after that, he started to be extremely nice to you
it definitely scared you
“d-did i do anything?” “what no? i’m just saying your painting looks beautiful y/n” “oh no something’s definitely going to happen”
he was finally tired of trying so hard while ending up with nothing achieved
jake, being the one out of the two who had the most realistic ideas, decided to give him one more tip
“do you think it’ll work?” “it’s fool proof”
the tip was simply him asking you out to the movies, something that was a little too forward for jay
“no i don’t think it’ll work jake” “jay i swear to god you are going to end up single For the Rest of your Life”
it took... many attempts... and many insults towards you for him to even get the first line out
“Y/NPLEASEGOTOTHEMOVIESWITHME” “the movies? sure” “wait, really? i meant it in a romantic way by the way” “oh? sure i’m free on friday”
turns out you were into him too i mean it was kinda obvious from the way you dealt with those insults
even when you started dating after that date, the insults never stopped
it just now targeted jake, who really is just asking for it at this point from the amount of times he’s asked for credit for ‘getting both of you together’
he was never getting that credit
⌗ jake
jake would leave secret love letters in your locker every time he walked past it
i mean the action wasn’t as secret as he thought it was due to the fact you knew he was the one leaving those letters
for god’s sake the boy was literally in almost all your classes, you were walking the same way as him when he slipped those letters in???
you still were very grateful for them
without them, i think you would of not coped with school
they were all incredibly detailed and even had little doodles drawn around them
you once had remembered he mentioned that he wrote these in the morning before school started during first period
he also told you he was really really shy you found it incredibly cute
the only way he could speak to you without melting was through these letters
somehow you decided that the best thing to do was put replies in his lockers too
his first reaction was complete embarrassment, the fact you knew who he was had his face heating up like nothing else
but he soon realised you didn’t think it was weird or creepy, you actually looked forward to his letters every school day
he mustered up so much courage after that to talk to you in person, to personally thank you
“THANK YOU Y/N!” “NO IT’S FINE JAKE YOU DON’T HAVE TO BOW”
he sheepishly rubs the back of his neck before pulling something out from his back pocket
the final letter in his series of love letters showing up in his hands
“open it” his shy smile making your brain Melt in endearment
the letter contained the usual, the hello y/n! and the usual chatter about his day
what you didn’t expect was the fact he had asked you out at the bottom of the letter
“y/n i’ve liked you for a while now, will you go out with me?” you read out loud before realising what you had just read. “OH MY GOD YOU ASKED ME OUT?”
you pull him into a tight hug, something that jake heated up at
“is this a yes?” “are you seriously asking that right now? of course we are”
you two became the most sickly sweet couple ever
plus the fact you still placed letters in each other’s lockers made enhypen gag (in an affectionate way)
they were just jealous nobody was putting letters in their lockers
⌗ sunghoon
sunghoon always seemed to be there whenever you needed help
especially since you two helped out at the library together every wednesday
he looked forward to it every week, you could tell from the fact ever tuesday he’d remind his friends that the next day he was seeing you again
“tomorrow’s wednesday you know what that means” “yes sunghoon we know, you’re seeing y/n tomorrow”
whenever he’s finished his work (which he does at an incredibly fast pace) he always seems to end up trailing you
constantly asking if you need help, desperate to do something
you find it endearing, always ending up chuckling at his whiney words
“y/n! do you need any help i’m finished” “not at the moment but if you wanna chat i can!”
out of all the enhypen members i feel like sunghoon would have the softest feelings for his crush
like even outside of your assigned library work, he’d constantly check up on you during lunch
“here y/n! it’s a packet of those gummies you like” “how sweet that you remembered! thanks for them”
you, even with sunghoon’s constant affection, couldn’t realise he had a crush on you
you thought that he was like that with everyone, you didn’t think that you were particularly special to get any type of unique treatment from park sunghoon
it wasn’t until your classmate asked you if you and sunghoon were dating
“hey are you and sunghoon dating?” “ummmm no why” “oh my friend wanted to know, they like him that’s why”
that didn’t sit well with you.
you thought long and hard about it but there was literally no reason for you to be bothered about it
i mean? you didn’t like him like that right
wrong
you decided to ask his dearest friend heeseung for help
“heeseung what do i do why do i feel like this” “i don’t know ask sunghoon” “...you aren’t helping”
heeseung being the big blabber mouth he is, told sunghoon all of this
“y/n won’t shut up about you” “really? you’re telling me the truth right? please don’t lie to me”
from many many uplifting comments from his friends, sunghoon was able to talk to you without mentioning the library
“so... what did you do in art class today?” “oh? i don’t do art” i mean at least he tried
after a few attempts he finally hit the nail on the head, securing his place as one of your friend... not the position he was aiming for but at least it was something
that’s when he prepared himself for the final boss (that’s what heeseung called the plan)
interrupting the conversation you both had on what disney show was the best, he popped the big question
“no but mulan was pretty good too also do you wanna go on a date with me” “oh sure! that was really random though”
i mean his timing was incredibly terrible but you were over the moon
even with the calm messages the both of you had sent, the two of you were screaming at your screen, unable to contain any composure
i mean it’s sunghoon... even if he handed you a piece of trash to as his way of asking you out you’d still say yes
⌗ sunoo
no but sunoo definitely asks your friend what your favourite song is and puts it on his story so you can slide up and be like “omg!! i love this song”
OH he also texts you randomly at 11:11 and 22:22 so you think it’s a sign
he so so so desperately wants your attention all the time
he goes up to you at lunch even when you’re with all your friends and makes conversation with you making you forget all about your friends
he sits in front of you in maths! so he knows how bad you are at the subject, he can hear your muttering about how you got a question wrong every morning but don’t Worry! he finds it adorable for some reason
at first he started to pretend he wouldn’t understand a question so he could find a way to talk to you
“hey y/n! what’s six times five again” “are you serious?”
he’s actually kinda good at maths so you’re always confused on how he doesn’t understand basic multiplication but can get 90% on the algebra test
he loves, and i mean loves, talking to you during class
even if the teacher scolds him he doesn’t care, it’s simply the highlight of his day
he gets so pouty and jealous when you excuse him in the middle of a conversation to talk to someone else
he gets jealous especially whenever you talk to his friends instead of him
“hey ni-ki! what did you get for number five?” “oh i got—” “I GOT TWELVE FOR THAT ONE Y/N!”
you kinda adore it not gonna lie
at one point your teacher got incredibly fed up with you two talking class
so! sunoo resorted to passing notes to you
‘y/n did you hear? oh my god, jihan from the maths class beside us told me that yeojin from the year above us got suspended because she started fighting the teacher over her phone. can you believe that? i mean i would of done the same thing’
it was quite clear sunoo talked a lot even through notes too
i mean as if you didn’t reply with the same energy
‘I HEARD THAT TOO!! gowon from her class told me, plus! intak said he saw the whole thing too... omg honestly i think yeojin’s so cool for doing that. maybe i should fight our maths teacher if they try and yell at us for talking again?’
they were one of the many things sunoo loves you for <3
one day ni-ki, being the number one shipper of you two, decides to play Cupid on the two of you
he drew out a note that looked too similarly to a middle school confession text and placed it on sunoo’s desk
“do you like me y/n... tick one. yes. no.” “do you like it?” “what the fuck is this”
i mean sunoo Took it anyways, he knew you’d find it funny too
as usual, you prepared yourself for a long class of sliding notes to each other
you looked forward to it, you found it as a source of entertainment and you liked talking to sunoo anyways
“pssst, y/n!” “thanks— wait did you give me the right one?”
after many whisper shouts and glares from your teacher, he finally convinced you that they were the real deal
obviously. You chose yes
that’s how you landed a date with sunoo to a picnic at han river
sunoo and you were. Kinda.... thankful for ni-ki
you two just never wanted to admit his stupid cupid-ry worked
⌗ jungwon
definitely the type to ask you “what homework did we get?” so he can start a conversation with you
replies to your private story with like “omg that’s so funny” or like “PLSSSSS me too”
you do exactly the same with his ps honestly
he always talks to you before class and you have heated discussions about the homework the night before
YOU ALWAYS ALWAYS end up sitting beside him in every class you have together
like it’s not even on purpose anymore (it’s actually fate)
always lends you pens and pencils when you forget them
he also never Asks for them back so you Have like a stash of them at home beside your bed because you always forget to give them back to him
you and jungwon are the kids in pe class that walk around the track gossiping
“jake told me that half of the soccer team aren’t getting along these days because they all like the same person” “no way really? what about their team work, isn’t there some sort of huge match next week?”
the gossip only stays between you two but only ever during pe
you two talk about more, interesting things outside of pe
since you two are in basically every class together, you walk with him everywhere
once when you were about to trip over, jungwon caught you and when you realised you were in his arms, you just blankly stared at him for a good five seconds
once you got off of him your face started to heat up so fast jungwon’s too
every time you have homework due and you didn’t do it he lends you his word
“y/n take this! it’s the french homework from last class” “thanks so much jungwon!”
the real story starts with when you and him were practicing speaking french in the library
you, being terrible at french, needed some sort of help with this
jungwon decided that, even though he completely sucks at french, he should tutor you!
and there you were, ten reasons why i hate you style, in the library struggling on how to pronounce beaucoup
“bow-cewp” “good job y/n!” “jungwon i know for a fact that you don’t know if i’m saying this right”
you stuck up with it because, well because he’s jungwon
“je t'aime you”
i mean you were Terrible. at french but even the stupidest person in the world could figure that out
“i like you too jungwon, now help me with question six” “YOU COULD UNDERSTAND THAT?” “i had a paris phase when i was younger of course i did”
turns out the Parisian style bakery across the street is the perfect date on an afternoon after school
what was even more perfect was that you got 85% on your test with the help of your boyfriend
⌗ ni-ki
he was your partner in cookery class, the both of you had no cooking skills in your bones but you still made it work
you were in the class since your family constantly nagged at you for being terrible in the kitchen
while ni-ki enrolled because he needed the something to show his friends after school
ni-ki thinks he fell for you at first sight
you were baking cookies as your first task and you basically saved him by reminding him to put on oven gloves before getting the cookies out
“that’s the bare minimum” jay tells him. “i don’t care... you wouldn’t know what love feels like”
he looks forward to cooking class because if you every week
he even has it scheduled on his calendar
honestly it’s kind of a miracle the food you two make is some sort of eatable
he always asks you for help even if it’s the simplest thing ever
“y/n? which one is a cup?” “the one that literally says one cup?”
you don’t care though since you think it’s cute
you always end up doing most of the cooking and chopping whil ni-ki just washes the dishes and watches the pot boil which eagerly waits for the food to finish
you’ve met all of enhypen before since ni-ki likes them to gather around your creations and take pictures of them together
when enhypen first collected him from cookery class, they asked him which one of your classmates were you
he literally shyly pointed at you as he hid his face with his hair
“them” “huh? ni-ki who are you pointing at” “them, beside the fridge”
your final exam was to decorate and bake a cake
it’s safe to say from the many burnt cakes you and ni-ki have done, you two were in trouble
you both wanted that passing grade so you practiced almost everyday after classes the week before
he was in charge of the icing, apparently according to him it was his specialty
“look y/n!” “how cute! a little unreadable but very cute”
finally. the Day of the exam came
you both had to prepare and bake the cake together under two hours
you were lucky that you both weighed the ingredients before you arrived
it was definitely. The most stressful two hours you two had ever felt
it also didn’t help that ni-ki shooed you away when he was icing the cake
by the end of it, your face was Dusted with flour while ni-ki’s apron had butter and frosting stains all over it
you were instructed by ni-ki and even your teacher, to stand where the fridge was, out of your sight to see what he was doing to the cake
you were hazily scrolling through your phone when jungwon snapped you back into reality
turns out jungwon was outside the room the whole exam because ni-ki told him he needed support and having him there comforted him
almost instantly after your jungwon interaction, ni-ki called you from your table, excitedly waving his arms in the air
“y/n! y/n! i’m finished!” “perfect! let me—”
your eyes widened realising his cake didn’t say anything like ‘happy birthday’ like you two had planned
instead the icing spelt out a prettily written out ‘y/n, will you go on a date with me?’
your eyes seemed to water at the gesture, unsure why you got so emotional at icing
“n-ni-ki... that’s so c-cute” “why are you crying? oh my god you hate me don’t you?”
it took you ten minutes to stop sobbing (happy tears) and you gladly accepted his proposal
so now you got a Good grade and an amazing boyfriend that can... sort of! Cook
while eating the cake you were reminded with something, remembering some words from earlier
wait did mr lee know about this?

Fools in Love
Tumblr media
Summary: He can explain how String Theory works. He can figure out Riemann Hypothesis. He can recite all the numbers of pi until he’s blue in the face. Yet somehow, Spencer Reid can’t figure out what to do for his first first anniversary.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Female Reader
Warnings: Spencer Reid is a self-deprecating mf, Jane Austen quotes? But there’s a happy ending
Word Count: 3128
Fools in Love
He scratches the back of neck, a nervous habit that he’s sure makes him look weak. He wants to find the perfect recipe to make a wonderful meal for Y/N. It’s his first first anniversary so Spencer’s completely lost as to what to do. Y/N deserves the most romantic dinner, especially considering how much chaos he causes. It must be a lot to put up with him, Spencer thinks. He’s even more useless when it comes to love than when it comes to cooking. While he might not be a fan of technology, given he has the Thai place down the street from his apartment on speed dial. She doesn’t deserve some take out Thai with paper plates. But he’s a scientist, a well-known and well-educated scientist who is completely failing at planning his first anniversary.
It was useless. Completely and utterly useless, Spencer thought to himself as he ran his fingers across the various titles of cookbooks. Some featured complex dishes from Korea and others were 30 minute meals of the vaguely Midwest variety. Spencer never in his entire 33 years of living felt so out of place in a library. He’s so at home in between the stacks of books, he finds the comforting words of long dead authors and intricate mathematical theories a second home. However, it seems that Spencer Reid has found the most intimidating section of the library: cooking.
And what do academics do when they are at a crossroad? Well, they call in the experts. The love expert came in the shape of Agent Derek Morgan himself. This idea just might be the most brilliant thought Spencer’s had or the dumbest, but Y/N is worth it.
Okay, maybe it was a mistake to come to Derek, Spencer thinks as he sits in front of his friend, a coffee in his hand and an expression of pure fear on his face.
“You want me to, what?” Spencer asks, shocked at Derek’s suggestive advice.
“Lie in bed naked, call Y/N on the phone and make something up. You’ll be waiting in bed and then BAM! Anniversary sex,” Derek says, his eyebrows wagging as he sips his coffee.
“Are you messing with me, Morgan?” Spencer says, his face pale from the very thought of lounging in bed naked, waiting for Y/N to come over to his apartment.
“Why not, I’m sure it would get you laid,” Derek reasons. Get me laid? Spencer and Y/N don’t get laid, he thinks. They do have sex, but it’s not getting laid. It’s more romantic and loving than just whatever Derek suggests.
God, he can’t tell Derek that, he’d never live it down.
“You have slept with Y/N, right?” Derek asks, suddenly nervous that he touched a nerve with his friend. As much as he likes to tease, Spencer knows that Derek doesn’t mean any harm, hence why he’s the first person he thought to come to.
“We prefer to call it making love,” Spencer says, pretending to be very interested in his chocolate donut and trying to fight off the blush that rises to his cheeks. Even a year into their relationship, Spencer still gets butterflies at thinking about Y/N like that.
“So you want this to be more romantic than just fucking, because you’ve done it for a year?” Derek proposes as simply as if he’s talking about a case. Not that talking about serial victims is anymore normal or weirder than the current conversation.
“Morgan and you please stop talking about Y/N and sex in the same sentence?” Spencer says through gritted teeth.
“Reid, kid. I’m just busting your chops, I know who you feel about Y/N. When you two are in the same room, it’s like there’s no one else in the world. And it’s kinda hard to get your mind to focus on one thing, but Y/N does that,”
“I know,” Spencer says. “I can’t mess this up Derek. I can’t give another person a reason to leave me,”
“Y/N won’t leave because you can’t plan a terrible anniversary dinner,” Derek says comfortingly.
“I checked out 7 cookbooks, Morgan. 7, and I read them on the metro home. It’s useless, I’m useless,” Spencer laments.
He looks up to try to read Derek’s expression. The last thing he’d want to see on his face is pity or worse laughter. No, Spencer. Derek is your best friend. He’s the closest thing you have to a brother. Spencer feels almost guilty for thinking that Derek would laugh at him, while he might like to tease him, especially about his lovelife, they trust each other inexplicably. What’s written on Derek’s face is not pity or ridicule, it’s a smile. A smile not for Spencer, but for the colorful woman walking towards their table.
“You told Garcia?” Spencer groans, but scooting over so Penelope would have a spot to sit with them.
“Of course I told Garcia, kid. You know better than anyone that we can’t keep anything secret,” Derek explains, leaning in to kiss Garcia’s hand.
“Spencer Reid! I can’t believe you,” Garcia says, smacking Spencer’s arm lightly.
“Garcia!” Spencer shouts, clutching his coffee and hunching down in his seat to avoid being hit by the tech goddess with her hard rings on her surprisingly strong hands.
“Don’t Garcia me, Reid. You need me, whether or not you realize it or not. I’m irreplaceable,” she tells him, grabbing a pink notebook and a fluffy green pen from her bag.
Spencer nods in understanding, as much as he hates it, he knows that he needs help. It’s just a hard pill to swallow when help comes in the form of Derek Morgan and Penelope Garcia, perhaps the two people on Earth who are the most in love.
“I know I need you guys,” Spencer says, looking from Garcia to Derek, half expecting them to tell him to order some terrifying sex toy from a scretchy store on the edge of town or something equally horrifying.
“What’s something that she likes? You know like a special thing that Y/N would never think about getting herself” Garcia asks, making notes with the fluffy when that bounces as she writes.
“She likes to read,” Spencer suggests, thinking about the first date that they had. They talked for hours about their favorite books and ended up getting booted from the library for overstaying their welcome. Y/N found it quite endearing that The Little Prince is Spencer’s while her is anything and everything by Jane Austen. He thinks back to her eyes gleamed when talking about the book, or how passionate she got when she argued that Mr Knightley and Emma were soulmates.
“Okay, that’s a start Spencer. Really good,” Garcia says, trying to boost her friend’s confidence.
“What else?” Derek asks, thinking about the times when he and Y/N hang out with Spencer and Penelope.
“Fret not, Boy Wonder,” Garcia says, softly patting Spencer’s shoulder, “I’ll take care of this,” she finishes as she reaches into her bag, that seems to have a never ending bottom, and pulls out a laptop.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“So Garcia and Morgan took over your anniversary plans and basically just made it how they’d want to spend their anniversary?” JJ offers, as she hands Spencer a beer from her refrigerator and sits back down at her kitchen table.
Spencer takes a swig of his beer and shrugs his shoulders, thinking about how wrong this whole anniversary dinner has gone.
“I just wanted this to be special, JJ. I know it’s only been a year, but Y/N is it for me. God, she was it for me on the third date,” Spencer confesses.
“I know, Spence. I’ve never seen you this happy. Happiness looks good on you,” JJ tells him.
“Y/N makes me happy, she puts up with me, so the least I can do is make this perfect for her,”
“Spence, don’t sell yourself short,” JJ says, “You’re a kind man and a wonderful boyfriend, you’re both lucky to have each other,”
“Thank you, JJ, but Y/N is the better person in this relationship. That’s why this needs to be perfect,” Spencer explains, his self doubt still littering his mind.
“What about a baseball game? You can pay for a message to pop up on the Jumbotron. Like Happy Anniversary, Y/N,” JJ suggests, and Spencer really can’t tell if JJ is joking. She can’t possibly think that Y/N and he would have a romantic anniversary with the threat of getting pelted in the face with a baseball.
“Sports games are not our forte, JJ. I honestly can’t tell who’d hate sitting in the sun for hours with angry sports fans,” Spencer adds.
“Okay so no sports, I should have figured, Spence,” JJ winks knowingly. “How about this, think about somewhere that’s special to you two. Somewhere that makes you think of her,”
“The thing is JJ, everyplace we’ve been together makes me think of her. The elevator when she first kissed me, the movie theater we always go to on Saturday nights, even the sidewalk outside my apartment building. Everything makes me think of her because she’s my everything,” Spencer says, hiding his discomfort at the conversation.
“Spence, I think that anything you plan, will be wonderful. Have a little trust in yourself for once, Y/N is already head over heels in love with you, so I doubt that she’d really care where you go or what you do,” JJ advises, clearing up the dirty dishes from their Friday night pizza dinner with the boys.
“I’m going to go JJ, thanks for talking me out of my head. If I took Morgan’s advice, I’d probably end up with a restraining order,” Spencer jokes, putting his jacket on and saying goodbye to his friend.
“You think you need an Uber?” JJ asks, but immediately finds amusement from Spencer’s disgust at the idea of getting into an Uber.
“Germs and technology sound like a nightmare, JJ. And I’m not going to remind you of the statistics regarding missing persons and those rideshare apps-” Spencer offers, but is cut off by JJ’s pretend annoyance.
“Remind me to send Y/N combat pay, you know maybe she is a saint for putting up with you,” JJ teases.
He walks out into the chill of the night, recounting the advice his friends gave him. Derek and Penelope’s plan was a little outlandish, a little too much for Spencer and Y/N. JJ, who Spencer knows means well, only served to remind him of how hard it must be with him. His steps are slow and languid, but his mind anything but.
One step, you’re probably just a charity case that Y/N decided to save.
Two steps, why on Earth would a woman like her even look at a man like you.
Three steps, you’re so pathetic that you can’t even plan a dinner for her. She’s too good for Spencer, you’ll ruin her.
Everyone who you love leaves you or dies, anyway.
It’s that thought, not the thought of being alone, but the thought that he deserves to be alone that sends the tears down his cheeks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Somehow, someway, Spencer made it back to his apartment. It never felt so dark, so unlike home. Maybe he just didn’t never realized that these walls aren’t home without Y/N. He really should try to get to sleep, but he’d rather fend off sleep with the endless supply of coffee than have to face a night alone in the cold bed.
Just as Spencer makes his way to prepare a cup of coffee, he hears a distant jiggle of keys and the door knob rattle. And in comes Y/N, as fresh as the cup of coffee brewing and as beautiful as ever.
“Happy Anniversary, my love,” Y/N tells him, dropping the bags on the floor. She moves over to him like a light breeze. All he wants is to welcome her embrace. He wants to scoop her up and carry her far away from the monsters that lie in wake. He feels an urge to be her protector, but how can be her protector when what he really wants is to be protected.
“Y/N, what are you doing here, it’s so late,” Spencer says, praying that his voice doesn’t let go. He knows it’s futile, one look from Y/N, her palm to his cheek or even worse a chaste kiss on his forehead, Spencer would not be able to think. What is a genius without his mind?
“I couldn’t wait for tomorrow, Spence, I just missed you too much,” Y/N says, her voice a prayer that spins around in Spencer’s brain, searching for refuge in his heart.
“You really missed me?” Spencer asks, desperately wanting to believe her beyond belief. Y/N’s frown searches for an answer in Spencer’s distant expression. Even though they stand there with the kitchen light casting shadows touching as much skin as they can reach, Spencer is a million miles away.
“Of course I missed you, baby. And I just had to give you one of your gifts tonight. I just couldn’t wait to see your face,” Y/N says, practically bouncing as she bounds off to get the package for Spencer.
“So this is only the first part, and stay with me, I know how much you hate technology, but I think you’ll make an excuse for this,” She tells him, handing him a heavy cube shaped package. It’s decorated in Y/N’s handwritten flowers and hearts, and a cute doodle of who Spencer can only assume is them. His girlfriend may not be artistic. But she’s the artist who paints the stars in Spencer’s night sky. She’s the tailor who sewed him back up when he was broken. She’s the architect who has the key and blueprint to his heart.
Spencer opens the gift, his hands shaky and unsure. He’s terrified that Y/N can see right though him. He reveals the present. It’s a small wooden box with a red wooden heart that looks like it’s supposed to be pixelated. There’s a blank space on the top, that Spencer supposes is a screen.
“You gotta plug it in, Spence. So the messages can pop up. When you're far away from me saving the world, I can type a message from my phone and it’ll appear on your box,” she explains. Spencer looks up at her trying to search for what he did to get this lucky.
“Thank you, this is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me,” Spencer tells her, placing a kiss against her forehead. It’s the kind of kisses that tell you so much more. It’s the kind of kiss you give when you know there’s more where that one came from. It’s safe and warm and everything good about this world.
“I gotta make sure you won’t forget me when you go traipsing all over the country. A hot genius like you only comes around so often. I’m sure you got loads of attractive people throwing themselves at you, Spence,” she says with a wink.
“Hot genius?” Spencer repeats half dumbfounded and half joking.
“Yup, I gotta make sure they know that you’re spoken for,”
“I couldn’t forget you even if I tried, Y/N. You’re the best thing that’s happened to me. I still don’t know what I did to ever deserve you,” Spencer says, as the tears and the fears of not being good enough bubble to the surface.
“Spencer, baby. You’re shaking. What’s the matter? Huh,” she says softly, brushing her hand over Spencer’s head in a comforting and loving gesture.
Spencer leans into her, his head pressed into her neck. He can hear her heartbeat and he can smell her perfume. He wants to get lost in her. Get lost in the feeling of total and complete love.
“I just wanted this to be perfect, Y/N. For you- you deserve so much more than I can give. It must be so hard dating me. I know that I’m difficult to love sometimes,” Spencer murmurs, his tears pouring down his cheeks and spilling like his darkest thoughts onto Y/N’s shirt.
“Spencer, you make my life so much brighter. So much fuller. I know that you got a lot going on up in that mind of yours and it must be kinda scary. It must be hard always being the guy people expect answers from. But I got you, sweetheart. And I’m not letting go,” Y/N tells him the words falling from lips like a psalm and taking on a new life in Spencer’s heart.
“Thank you, Y/N. I really wanted this to be the best anniversary. I’m sorry I’m such a mess,” Spencer apologizes as he peppers light, feathery kisses along her collarbone and up to her eyes.
“Well you’re my mess, Spencer. Let’s be honest, I’d be completely happy to spend our anniversary anywhere with you. Except maybe sports games, that sounds like torture for both of us,” Y/N laughs and Spencer can’t get over how she practically glows in the kitchen light. It could be that his mind is foggy with love, but Spencer hopes that he never grows out of this blissful feeling.
“Well it’s a good thing we’ll have many more to make up for this one,” Spencer says, letting himself get dragged to the large fluffy sofa.
“Oh no, Mister. The next 50 anniversaries have to try to top this one,” Y/N tells him and Spencer’s heart skips and flutters at the thought of having another 49 anniversaries with Y/N by his side.
“I doubt that 50 will be enough, Y/N”
“As long as you’ll allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you,” Y/N says, cuddling so close to Spencer that she can’t see where her limbs start and Spencer’s end.
“If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more,” Spencer says running his spidery fingers down Y/N’s side much to her delight.
“Ooh are you trying out some Jane Austen foreplay? Because that’s the way to make my panties drop,” Y/N says suggestively as she rubs her hand over Spencer’s chest and rests it on his neck.
“Maybe tomorrow, I just really want to hold you close right now, Y/N.” Spencer says, sweetly kissing along her temple exciting a bout of giggles from the two of them.
Spencer very well might be useless when it comes to love, but he was eager to learn that he’s worthy of love from his love expert.

ok ig cashier damian is my latest hyper fixiation, so let’s add
• Ight so, on fridays, jon cannot come in all the time, very rarely can he. and when he does. he sees a very cute sleepy damian who also wants to punch him:)
• damian is just a mess. he didn’t have time to fix his appearance because as soon as he got out of school, he had to change in a shitty unsanitary grocery store bathroom.
• it was not fucking fun. it never is. damian is so over it. jon normally sees Damian working on homework quickly before putting it away when Jon or other customers show
• damian cannot be asked to look like a normal human being when he just finished 7 sad hours of school in ANOTHER shitty uniform. he hates uniforms
Jon: you look like you’re gonna fall asleep
Damian: ugh, look who it is, the good boy from metropolis who doesn’t look like a creep at all when he comes here just to talk to me. woo hoo!
Jon: nice to see you too
• jon normally sucked on lollipops when he didn’t want to chew on gum, plus sometimes he chews on gum really aggressively and it hurts his jaw
• but let’s talk abt jonny: star athlete ( I’m a simp for athletes jon, please kill me. he’s a basketball player in this though. he got the height for it anyway ), himbo-vibes, and overall sweetheart.
• at least that’s what everyone else thinks. his life is a cycle. A very miserable cycle. It’s honestly tiring and hurts his head and generally takes his mood down
• but then he drove to bludhaven in his new car and brand new license. and he saw him.
• sure he’s seen moody teenagers working at stores before, but this boy; Damian, by his name tag, was different. He SENSED IT
• jon found that he liked different
• damian.. just didn’t easily talk with Jon like so many did at home. he liked a challenge
• and Damian was his challenge
• so he wasted so much gas and time and money to visit him.
• he was so whipped
• he was attracted to him. just the way he did things. like goddamn. ok.
• then his friends and him took a trip there. it was Saturday, they were gonna leave on Sunday. it was for Kathy’s birthday. He had no idea why she wanted to go here.
• oh. yeah. The idiots taken in for underaged drinking. Jon didn’t drink. ( he was a good boy and designated driver ) so he was just there trying to get the officers to let his friends off the hook
Damian: oh look, guess the good boy isn’t really a good boy.
Jon: Damian—? No! I’m here to get my friends out!
Damian: figures, you’re too innocent to do bad things.
Jon: what did you do then?
Damian: well wouldnt my you like to know
Dick: Damian! There you are! Sorry, I was calling up some parents- who is this?
Damian: Good boy.
Dick: ah.
Jon: Jon Kent.. nice to meet you
Dick: wait. As in Clark Kent?
Jon: yeah? that’s my dad
Dick: aw your dad used to babysit me
Damian: can we go now
Dick: hush Damian, I’m feeling nostalgic
• so Damian learned jons name. And jon got to see Damian in regular clothes, so that was cool
• he also got in trouble and couldn’t see Damian for a month because his parents were upset about what happened.. understandable, but jon was still upset
Tai: soo, that was him?:)
Jon: shut up
• tai accidentally found out about cashier boy, it was very funny for tai. not Jon. he teased jon for being whipped.
• sure jon liked damian for his looks at first. then he liked him for him.
Jon: dad, some guy named dick said hi
Clark: jon it isn’t— wait-
Jon: he said you babysat him
Clark: really? You saw him, how did he look? I haven’t seen him since he was a kid!
Jon: um. good?
Clark: where did you see him?
Jon: ..the police place
• his parents put a tracker on jons phone. now they were so confused why their son kept going to Giant Beagle in bludhaven. it was. weird.
• they just- was he meeting someone?? why was he doing this? WAS HE GETTING DRUGS? wait. no. it’s jon. jon couldn’t even stand the smell of cigarettes
Lois: jon.. honey.
Jon: yeah?
Lois: why do you keep driving to bludhaven? I’m worried about you and want to make sure you aren’t doing anything.. bad. Or dangerous.
• granted, it was very dangerous going out there, but he liked it. he liked the thrill of when he got to walk damian back sometimes! HE WAS GETTING CLOSER TO DAMIAN!
• oh also. it turns out damian gave him a fake number
• rude.
• damian always warned him though. and tried to make jon not walk far. jon was.. jon was a good boy. he would never survive in bludhaven frequently, jt worried humored damian.
• sometimes jon came by during the day. Damian’s Sunday shift was in the evening while his Saturday one was in the morning. jon got to go get lunch with him sometimes if Damian felt like there were enough people around that would know if he got kidnapped or not
Damian: why do you bother talking to me? most get bored of me and my attitude.
Jon: I find it charming. you’re fun to talk to. you feel so real. almost everyone in my life feels artificial and like I’m living in a disney Chanel movie.
Damian: *he laughed* oh?
Jon, loving Damians laugh rn: yeah! it’s like they’re.. androids or somethin’.
Damian: why don’t you just find someone snarky from metropolis?
Jon: it wouldn’t be as fun then.
Jon: i like a challenge.
• getting to know damian was like trying to beat the hardest level in his game. it was mind blowing how many times he basically had to restart. Damian was also like a Rubix cube, but jon will get there. He already has 1 side done on it.
Jon: so you live with your brother?
Damian: yes.
Jon: nice
• jon didn’t pry. Damian and dick had became forgotten after bruces death, a lot of the kids did. they just all disappeared from the media like ghosts.
• so jon didn’t know that dick wasn’t his blood relative, or that Damian was Bruce’s child. no one really did
• it wasn’t like it mattered though anyways
Damian: basketball is lame.
Jon: have you ever played?
Damian: yes. it sucked ass
• jon has helped Damian restocked late at night sometimes. Damian doesn’t like him touching things, but the faster he does it, faster he can go home to get his pets, alfred, and his idiot brother
Damian: you waste a lot of gas coming to see me.
Jon: it’s worth it.
• jon had to get a job. boo. he worked on days he didn’t have practice and sadly, on sundays.
• he was a worker at a small cafe, he was just a waiter there
• and then one day, on a Sunday, Damian came in with a few people. WAIT DAMIAN CAME IN
Jon: DAMIAN
Damian, clearly startled: what the fuck, jon!
Jon: why’re you here! how long are you staying! ARE TOU REALLY HERE!
Maya: is this who you were talking about?
Damian: shut up.. but calm down, idiot.
Damian: .. you got a haircut.
Jon: you- you noticed? sorry I couldn’t come this week. was busy this week and needed to catch up on sleep.
Damian:’it’s fine. I guess I really should give you my number now.
Colin: that was smooth
Jon: really?
Damian: mhm. after you seat us, dumbass.
Jon: oh right
• and Damian did give jon his number
• a real one dw
Maps: he was cute.. he single?
Maya: he wouldn’t be single if Damian just manned up
Colin: they practically just stared at each other the whole time when they thought the other wasn’t looking
Damian: wait he was looking at me?
Maya: oh damians so whipped.
• oh how the cashier is falling for the waiter
• sounds like a hallmark film.
• next week jon did end up visiting him in ‘haven, and drove him home.
• damians feet were hurting and he was tired so he didn’t even bother to argue.
• jon couldn’t come to visit his favorite cashier during winters a lot, he may of liked his new “dangerous” life, but he heard how bad the roses could get from Damian
• damian was a bit sad and moody because of that. but shut up. you don’t know anything dick
Dick: you know.. you should invite him inside
Damian: so you can embarrass me? no thank you.
Dick: me? embarrass you? never. but come on, you have never shown interested in anyone before! I wanna meet him!
Damian: you already did. At the police station. you forget or something?
Dick: .. that wasn’t really the best first meeting. come on. please?
Damian: no.

He likes to be close to Stiles. It makes the wolf and coyote inside of him content. They practically purr. So yeah, maybe he stays with the fox because he wants to. So what? No one needs to know any other underlying reason that would make Theo and his supernatural creatures happy. Like the major heart eyes and the constant throbbing in his chest.
Usually he comes prepared, bringing a change of clothes with him for the following morning. But one Friday night, Stiles texted him that his dad got called out and it made him have a panic attack. Too afraid to drive to be with the whole pack, the Beta asked him to come over. Theo grabbed nothing but his wallet, phone, and keys in his haste.
In the morning they made no comment on the fact that Theo snuggled him even after Stiles was able to fall asleep. No mentions of how tightly Theo was holding or the way his nose was tucked against the crook of Stiles' neck. It wasn’t the first time and it more than likely wouldn’t be the last. It’s what not only good Alphas, but good friends do. It wasn’t until after his own shower that Theo realized his mistake. Stiles- already dressed- must have come to the same conclusion because there’s clothes laid out of the bed for him.
“Your jeans didn’t seem all that dirty and I doubt mine would fit your thighs,” the fox tells him as he walks to the door, eyes trained on the floor. “But I grabbed a tee and flannel for you. I found an old pair of boxers too, they should be loose enough at least for the ride home.”
“Thanks,” Theo says, realizing the navy blue hoodie Stiles is wearing is actually his. And no, the Alpha isn’t going to say a damn thing about it. He’d rather take what he can get however he can get it. Even if there’s more than likely a rational explanation behind it.
With a shrug, “of course,” the fox says, “I’ll wait downstairs.” The door closes and Theo quickly changes. The 'weres rumbling softly in his chest from smelling like Stiles.
Since it’s almost noon on a Saturday, they picked up some pizza on the way home for the pack. After having to listen to Mason try and explain why sharing food is a relationship worthy thing, the Alpha had picked foods that can’t raise suspicion. How exactly eating the same pizza is different than a plate of food is a mystery to the chimera, but whatever.
The pack is scattered around the kitchen, eating and talking. Stiles is sitting at the island beside him and Theo is not thinking about their thighs touching. Because so is Josh’s to his right, it’s just a space thing, not a conscious decision. Liam and Hayden finally decide to grace them with their presence, reeking of sex.
“So you guys are that kind of couple?” Liam asks, shoving a slice in his face.
“First of all,” Stiles holds up one finger and gestures between the Alpha and himself, “not a couple. Second of all,” the fox lifts another finger, “what?” Theo’s thoughts exactly.
“You’re wearing each other’s clothes,” Hayden explains, pulling at the collar of her denim jacket. Which in hindsight does look a bit big on her, her fingers barely peeking out of the sleeves. Oh, no. “Couples do that.”
Tracy laughs, “holy shit, you’re right! I knew that flannel wasn’t yours.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t bring a change of clothes last night?” The Alpha shrugs, trying to fall back into old, emotionless Theo. It doesn’t work. He also took far too long to realize how what he just said would sound in the first place. Shit. Stiles knows why he was there and that’s what matters.
“Oh,” Corey quips, trying for innocence, landing way off mark, “so you two spent the night together?”
“I had a panic attack, okay!” Stiles blurts out, “so yes, having my Alpha come over put the fox at ease. And he must’ve left his jacket at one point and it got washed with my laundry." See? There’s the rational explanation Theo knew existed. But wait, something’s off, while everyone is paying attention to Stiles, the Alpha focuses on his heart. "It was hanging in my closet, I didn’t realize it wasn’t mine.” That- that was a lie! What the fuck does that mean? Why would Stiles knowingly wear his jacket? And not have washed it like he said?
Putting his fox at ease, right. He literally just said that. Makes sense though. After last night any Beta would need the scent and security of their Alpha. Again, still a reasonable explanation.
“So you stay the night enough to have left clothes?” Josh laughs, “a very couple-y thing to do, Theo.”
“We’re not together!” Stiles and Theo insist.

“Are you sure that you have everything?” Joel asked for the twentieth time in the past hour, “we can run back to yours if you need anything else”
“I feel like you’re just trying to get me to stay with you longer,” you said, skeptically.
“Is it working?”
“No, Bee, I have to leave at some point,”  you said, putting another bag of yours in his car,”I won’t be gone long.”
“Yeah, but you’ll be closer to the Stars and that has me worried,” he said, causing you to chuckle.
“You worried about Seggy? Or Roope? Or Big Rig? Or Mi-”
“Okay, I get it.”
“Don’t worry your pretty little head about it, I love you and only you, shawty. Besides, I can only tolerate Texas weather for so long,” you said, leaning up to kiss him on the cheek.
“I love you, too, shawty,” he paused,”Wait,- that was rude.”
After packing the last of your bags into the car, you made your way to the airport to meet Marcus and Michelle. Once you arrived at the airport, Joel parked the car before the two of you headed into the airport. The four of you caught up for a while before Marcus suggested giving you and Joel time to say goodbye.
“Is this how it feels when me and the guys leave for the road?” Joel asked, softly.
“Yeah,” you said, smiling sadly.
“Well, good thing I’m the one on the road all the time, I mean, I don’t like leaving you, but when I’m leaving it’s a different feeling, you know.”
“Well glad it makes you happy, buddy.”
“Did you just buddy me?” Joel asked, incredulously.
“Did I?” you asked, laughing as Joel gasped in shock.
“Wow, I see how it is. I’ll remember that.”
“Go ahead, babe. Remember it however you want,” you paused when you saw the sad look on his face, reaching to hold his face in your hands, “hey, I’m only a text away, I might not be right here, but I will answer as soon as I can and we’ll facetime as much as you want these next few days.”
Joel nodded before looking up and seeing Marcus and Michelle headed your way, “we hate to cut this short, but we have to get going pretty soon.”
“I know I asked, but do you really have to go?”
“Yeah, Bee, I really have to go.”
“You better kick ass out there or else you’re just leaving for nothing,” he said, jokingly, “but honestly, I wish you the best of luck - I know you don’t need it, but I’ll say it anyway. Make sure to tell Nicole I said good luck and please make sure to wipe that smug look off Kathryn's face. Okay?”
“Yeah, of course,” you said, wrapping your arms around him as he pressed kiss to the top of your head. “I’ll miss you.”
“I’ll miss you, too, but if you don’t go, the only thing you’ll be missing is your flight.”
“Wow, Bee, you are so funny.”
“Well, one of us has to be the funny one in the relationship. Your mom jokes only get you so far far in life, babe,” he said, causing you to elbow him in the stomach.
“I’m leaving now. I love you and I will text you when I land,” you leaned up for a quick goodbye kiss before grabbing your carry-on bag and heading to your gate. You avoided looking back, knowing that if you did, both of you wouldn’t let the other leave.
“I think you chose a good one,” Marcus said once the three of you had sat down.
“What?” you asked, shocked.
“Joel. He seems like a good guy. He clearly cares about you and I can see that you care a lot about him, too. He clearly makes you happy,” Marcus added.
Heat rushed up your face, to which you simply looked out the window, “yeah, he’s a good guy.”
“A cute one, too,” Michelle interrupted.
“Yes, that too. But Michelle, you better lay off,” the three of you laughed as the flight attendants started to announce the safety procedures for your flight. The three of you did your own thing the rest of the flight: Marcus planning out how podium training would go, Michelle analyzing your routines, and you sleeping.
“Alright, so as soon as we land, we get luggage and go to our hotel. There is a small media event tomorrow morning before podium training, then podium training, then probably some more media. You will have the rest of the night to do whatever, I know you’ll probably go see your Dallas friends and that’s fine, just make it back in time. Then, Friday is the first day of competition, Saturday is the second day, then we have some free time Sunday,” Marcus read off to you, even with you half asleep.
“Sounds lovely,” you grumbled.
…..
“So, y/n, with your injury being a top priority, how different have practices been since you are still somewhat in recovery?” one of the journalists asked. You had stayed prepared for a multitude of questions having to do with your injury, so this question had an easy response.
“I would say, it’s definitely a totally new experience. I’ve had to tailor my focus to other aspects of this sport since the start of my recovery, whether that be drills, more conditioning, or changing up my routines. My team and I definitely have figured out what things work and what doesn’t and we continue to learn as I continue training,” you answered, swiftly.
“Now obviously, you were the highest scorer in most of your competitions, even before your injury, how has competition changed for you? And what has inspired you to train harder?” another journalist asked.
“I have to say, competition is slightly more nerve-wracking than before. I mean getting injured at a major competition definitely changes perspective for all aspects of it. I feel that I have to be more cautious when performing, whereas before I would just go with the motions. Something that’s inspired me has been that my competitors have continued training, I have a fair amount of competition - all of which are excellent athletes - which has helped motivate me a lot, but I also have an amazing support system back home who have made sure to give me that extra motivation when I need it,” you smiled.
“Now, having to deal with that support system at home, who and how have they influenced your decisions of your journey through recovery?” which was the first question that made you smile.
“Well first, a huge shoutout to my family, especially my cousin, Kevin. Without his support, I wouldn’t have ever tried to get back in the gym, he’s been there this whole time and I couldn’t be more grateful. Um, my coaches were so supportive of my comeback; my physical trainor, Adrian, who told me all the doctors were wrong and gave me the reality checks I needed; the whole Philadelphia Flyers roster and their families cheered me on the whole time, especially my boyfriend, Joel Farabee. My friends, my teammates, all of them pushed me where I needed to be,” you said, gratefully.
“Thank you for your time, y/n. We wish you the best of luck this weekend,” the main announcer said to you before you went off to podium training.
Marcus and Michelle had both told you only to warm up simplified versions of your routine, so that you could bring shock factor when you were actually performing. You had upgraded almost all of your tumbling back to where it was before injury, but no one needed to know that besides you and those in your gym. Podium training had gone very well, better than you had anticipated, so you were looking forward to how championships would go.
As you packed up your gym bag and grabbed your phone, you saw all the messages you had from the Flyers group chat you had somehow found your way to.
Bee: did you guys see that too?
Tiki Bar: if we are talking about the same thing, i think we did.
Patti Lapone: did she actually say nice things about us?
Kev: i really think the texas heat is getting to her already
G: she’s probably just feeling under the weather about competition, otherwise we might want to check if she is okay
Scotty: i think i misheard or i got hit in the head and didn’t realize it
Frosty: hell has frozen over
Bee: haha. frost. frozen. get it
Tiki Bar: beezer.
G: i’ll make you do laps if you make another frost joke
Laughing at the texts in the group chat in reaction to your interview, you simply typed up a simple response: this is what i get when i’m nice, now you know why i’m not like this all the time.
Luckily for you, you didn’t have to do any media after podium training, so you were able to leave whenever you wanted to. After checking with Marcus and Michelle, you made sure it was alright that you went off to go see Tyler and the rest of the guys. Assuming that they would be at practice, after changing out of your leo, you took the drive to the Stars practice facility.
Having come to Fort Worth so much for gymnastics and Dallas for a few hockey games, you had run into some of the Stars roster on multiple occasions. By the third time you had ran into them, and this time ran into was a very literal statement, you had exchanged social medias and most of the roster kept an eye out for any updates in your gymnastics career. During your recovery, the whole team constantly asked for updates about how you were and how gymnastics was going.
Once you parked, you quietly made your way inside - not wanting to interrupt the practice. There were a few officials walking around, but most either paid you no mind or recognized you from times before you had been here. Walking towards the rink, your eyes settled on the boys doing laps for the last part of practice. It wasn’t until most of the guys were only talking and about to get off the ice that they noticed you.
Tyler was the first to notice you, smiling and waving towards you, which caused most of the team to follow where he was looking and notice you. As the team headed to the locker room to change, you simply waited on one of the benches for them.
“I feel like you only came all this way to see my dogs,” Tyler said, making his way towards you.
“No, I would never do such a thing, I obviously came here to say hi to you,” you stood up to give him a hug.
“Mhm, whatever you say. Didn’t you have podium training today? How’d it go?”
“Well, it went pretty well actually. I did a few of my dismounts, but kept most of my landings safe just to be careful. But other than that everything went well.”
“As long as you kick ass tomorrow, I’m fine,” he said, honestly, “do you have anything else to do for the rest of the day or did you just come to say hi?”
“Well, I have no plans for the rest of the day, but I don’t want to intrude on any team plans.”
“You know you would never be intruding on anything with us, even if you are dating a Flyer,” Jamie O said from behind you.
“God, Jamie, what the fuck? Where’d you come from?”
“Your mom’s house,” he said, earning a fist bump from Tyler.
“I can’t even be upset, that was a good one,” you smiled as Jamie hugged you,”and don’t bring Joel into this.”
“My condolences.”
“Condolences? No one died?” you questioned.
“You are dating someone that plays for the Flyers,” Tyler said.
“Damn, that’s harsh,” you replied.
“Anyways, moving on. Me and a few other guys were coming over to mine for lunch and to hangout, if you want to come you are welcome to,” Tyler said to which you simply nodded.
“Is that who I think it is?” another familiar voice rang out, causing you to whip your head around to see Roope and Jake heading your way.
“Well, if you thought it was me, then you would be correct, my friend,” you retaliated.
“I’m surprised they let you in here, considering you are dating a Flyer,” Otter said, jokingly.
“Quit bringing the fact that I’m dating Bee into the conversation.”
“At least Nicole is in the safe zone,” Roope said, causing your eyes to widen, “y/n. What was that?”
“What was what?” you questioned as Roope simply narrowed his eyes.
“You did the thing.”
“What are you talking about, bestie?”
“Oh, you have a habit of your face changing when you know something that will ruin the whole perspective or something or if you know a secret that will change the entire story. Very entertaining and concerning that you didn’t know,” Tyler added.
“Um, well, didn’t expect to be psychoanalyzed by a bunch of hockey players today, but here we are.”
“Ok, I think we should head to mine and then, we can continue psychoanalyzing you,” Tyler suggested to which you all agreed. Roope, who had gotten a ride from Tyler in the morning, immediately hopped into your car as soon as you unlocked it.
“What’s up with Nicole?” he asked as soon as you started driving.
“What happened to hello? How are you?” you joked.
“Listen, I’m asking now because I don’t want to talk about this with the guys there. But what did you mean?” he said, causing you to take a deep breath. It wasn’t like Roope and Nicole were ever together, but it was always an unspoken fling of sorts, that they never made official.
“Look,-”
“Please, just tell me what’s happening,” he pleaded.
“Nicole and Nolan are sort of together,” you rushed out, causing a moment of silence to break out. You didn’t know what to expect as a reaction, considering they weren’t official and hadn’t really talked since the last time you and her were in Texas.
“Is she happy?”
“Yeah, she’s happy.”
“Okay, that’s all I care about,” he said simply, which made your heart almost break for one of your closest friends.
…..
Being able to spend time with some of your close friends that you hadn’t seen in a while was just what you needed to destress about championships. Maybe an intense game of uno with five of the most competitive people was exactly what some might call a destressor, but here you were.
Tyler threw down his cards as he stood up dramatically, “no, because there is no way that a.) she already has an uno and that b.) all of you used your draw two cards against me.”
“Don’t be upset, Ty, that’s just how the game of uno is sometimes,” you replied, hiding a laugh.
“Oh, shut up. I think you guys cheated,” Tyler accused.
“I think you just don’t know how to play uno,” Jamie mumbled.
“Oh, yeah, real funny. I think you all teamed up against me and Jake dealt that way on purpose.”
“And we all think, you just can’t accept a loss in uno,” Roope added.
“Fine, let’s settle this like men,” Tyler grabbed all the cards, attempting to shuffle them before accepting he couldn’t shuffle and handing them over to you to shuffle, “I’m watching you.”
“Oh, wow, so scared,” quickly shuffling them, doing a little bit more than usual to get Tyler off your case, you handed them back to him, “there you go.”
Another final round of uno, which ended up with you and Roope head to head as far as who would win, while Tyler had ended up with at least 15 cards to which Jamie was the first to speak up, “I think we should end here before someone gets hurt.”
“No, no, we’re fine. It’s fine. y/n, take your turn,” he said, eyes narrowing as he watched from beside you. Even if it was your last card, you dropped the draw 4, which made Tyler draw more cards.
“Damn, that sucks,” you said, hiding a laugh.
“What was that, y/n?” Tyler said.
“I said, damn, that sucks,” you repeated, watching Tyler closely as he stood up quickly once again, before practically chasing you. “Tyler, it’s just uno. Stop chasing me.”
“Oh, wow, ‘damn, that sucks’” Tyler mocked.
As the other three watched, Jamie just grabbed the bowl of popcorn as they watched their friends running around chasing each other. “I see why we don’t play uno much,” Jake said.
“Yep. Exactly. But no one listened when I advised against it,” Jamie said, taking a drink of his beer.
“Tyler, watch yourself,” you said, as he stood on the opposite side of the couch. He started running one way, as you ran the other to avoid him, but he quickly sidestepped and caught up to you. Practically throwing you over his shoulder, he made his way out to the pool, “Tyler, let’s not do anything crazy here.”
“Oh, you mean like hold a draw four card until the end of the game,” Tyler said, as he tossed you into the deep end of his pool.
“Children. Literal children,” Roope said, shaking his head, going to grab you a towel.
Rising up from the water and quickly moving the hair out of your face, you swam over to where Tyler was, “hey, can you help me out?”
“Nah, I’m not falling for that one,” he stated.
“Seriously, I won’t do anything right now, I promise,” you said, as you saw him reach his arm out to which you quickly grabbed and stood out of the pool. Walking towards Roope, who had grabbed you a towel, you turned back around to see Tyler still walking near the pool. Using this to your advantage, you ran and pushed Tyler into the pool. “Sorry, bestie,” you said, running to get the towel from Roope and running back in the house.
After getting changed into one of Tyler’s extra shirts he had lying around, you were just hanging out with the guys when a familiar contact flashed on the screen to FaceTime, Jake who was right next to you immediately noticed, “ooh, better go talk to your man, y/n.”
“Shut the literal fuck up,” you called back, standing up to go the kitchen for privacy. Answering, you noticed that Joel was at Nolan and Kevin’s apartment, “were you that lonely without me, babe?”
“No, well maybe, but I’m helping them set up for the watch party tomorrow,” Joel said, taking a seat at their kitchen island, “how’d podium training go?”
“It went really well actually, I didn’t work the 3.5 just so that way I have something over their heads, you know. But other than that, it was all good. How are things at home?”
“Well, I mean no one is dead, which is always good. Um, debated getting a dog, my mom called, I told her about you. Uh, already told you about the watch party. I don’t think anything else interesting happened,” he said, shrugging as if he hadn’t just mentioned bringing you up to his mom.
“Wait, you told your mom about me?”
“Well, she does follow me on Instagram, so after seeing the post she texted me asking and then she asked while we were on the phone. She wished you good luck, by the way. She’s  also visiting here with my dad in a few weeks and I’d really love it if you would meet them,” he said, shyly.
“Uh, yeah, yeah, of course,” you rushed out, hoping you didn’t sound as nervous as you were.
“That sounded very unsure.”
“No, it’s fine. I just have never been at the spot in a relationship where I meet the parents, I’m just nervous. I don’t want to mess it up.”
“Babe, my mom already loves you, she was getting on my case about not telling her, but she already thinks very highly of you and I definitely hyped you up a little bit. You have nothing to worry about,” he reassured you, which made you smile.
“Hey, y/n/n,” Kevin yelled.
“Hey, Kev.”
“You were very nice in your interview today, it had all of us worried,” Kevin said, which caused you to roll your eyes in response.
“Hey, I can be nice sometimes.”
“On very rare occasions, yes,” Joel added.
“Whatever.” As you talked a little while longer with the guys, eventually Roope and Tyler had come in to say hi to everyone as well, which had you dying laughing as both of them gave the ‘you hurt her, we fly to Philly and hurt you’ talk that almost everyone had given him.
Telling Joel you would call him back whenever you made it back to your hotel, you stayed with the guys for another couple of hours before heading back to your hotel. Nicole had spent most of the day after podium training resting and had met you in the hotel lobby when you got back.
“So,- “ she didn’t even have to finish her sentence before you knew what she was saying.
“Roope is doing good, he said he hopes things are going well,” you said, watching as a small smile crept up her face.
“Well, good to know. Did you know KD is also staying at this hotel?”
“Well, considering this is the host hotel and most competitors are here, I am not all that shocked.”
“Yeah, but you probably didn’t know she’s legit a few rooms away from us, did ya?”
“No, guess not,” you said, “how’d you find that one out?”
“Well, let me set the scene for you. I go to get ice and then I hear her talking with, uh, whatever her name is, Callie or Carly, it starts with a C. Anyways, they were talking about you and me and how our skills have been less than recently and all this stuff about you not catching up to where you were - which I found so fucking funny because who has won gold at the past few meets? Not her. Anyways, all is fair in the sport of gymnastics, but I’m just excited to see her reaction to you doing the 3.5.”
“Damn, no pressure there, Nic.”
“Okay, but the thing is, you have the skill,” Nicole said, as you got into the elevator. “You have it down. It’s all up here, in your cranium,” she said, pointing to your head.
“Alright, let’s just go to bed now,” you said, slowly removing her hand and opening the door to your hotel room.
…..
“Hello everyone and welcome to Day One of the 2021 US Gymnastics Championships. We are very excited to see how today’s competition goes as this competition will decide who makes it onto the National Team and who will qualify for Olympic Trials,” Joel heard the announcer say as he made his way to sit with everyone in the living room.
“Did you talk to her this morning?” Claude asked from beside him.
“Yeah, usual pre-comp anxieties. Nolan talked to her and Nicole to give the usual pep talk and then we talked for a while on their way to the arena,” Joel answered, looking back to the TV to see you prepping for bars, “she said podium training went well, but Kathryn was talking shit, so all I know is she better kick her ass.”
“You know she will, it happens everytime. She gets in her head and still does amazing, just a casual Tuesday,” Scott added.
“It’s not Tuesday?” Travis questioned.
“Yes, I know,” Scott said, confusing everyone.
“Alright, moving on,” Joel reiterated.
“And starting on bars, we have y/n y/l/n. Now if you remember, less than a year ago, y/n was injured at another competition doing a beam dismount that she might be competing in today’s competition. She is definitely one to watch as she has a reputation of scoring high in these meets, before and after her return. Her teammate, Nicole Carter, will be following up.”
Joel watched as you stepped away from the chalk box to start your routine, he watched intently as you jumped from the springboard to reach the high bar. He watched intently as you went through your routine. Release skills. Giants. Pirouettes. More release skills. More giants. Dismount. Stuck landing.
“A great start to Day 1 for y/n, who seems pretty proud of how that routine went,” the announcer said, “rotation two will be beam, where we might see that 3.5 twist, which is currently in the process of being named by Kathryn Davis, who was the first to compete it at a major competition. Now the question everyone is wondering is will we see this skill from y/n today?”
“She’s doing it. Fucking dumbass,” Joel grumbled at the announcer.
“Damn, Beezer, tell them how you really feel,” Travis replied, as everyone else laughed at Joel’s behavior before watching Nicole compete. Nicole’s routine ended with a stuck landing, the camera following her as she made her way off the platform and hugged you before the two of you did your secret handshake.
Knowing the next event was beam, Joel waited as other competitors did their routines as you were warming up. He knew this moment would make or break how the rest of the meet went and with this only being your second event, it needed to go well.
Everyone watched anxiously as you saluted the judges, shaking your hands out before you reached to mount the beam. You took a deep breath before actually starting your routine. Starting the beginning choreography, you kept your movements sharp and clean. All the skills in your routine were sharp - doing this so if the dismount didn’t go well, it hopefully wouldn’t affect your score too much.
Joel had memorized your routines, knowing you were approaching your dismount, he saw your movements become slightly hesitant. Watching as you did a quick pivot on the beam to prep for the dismount, he watched you take a deep breath.
“C’mon, babe. You got it,” he said, and by whatever power was listening he watched your lips twitch up to a smile as you started your dismount. Going for the round-off and starting the twists, you did the three and a half twists, opening up to find your landing, and stuck your dismount. Joel’s smile grew even more when he saw how happy you were with your routine.
The rest of Day 1 of Championships went well for both you and Nicole; the two of you ending in the first and place spot in all around, with Kathryn following close behind. After the competition, both of you had your media conferences before you made your way back to the hotel. As both of you checked your phone, you saw the multiple notifications from various social medias.
“Dude, did you see what Ryanne posted?” Nicole asked, a look on her face that you couldn’t easily recognize.
“No, hold on,” you opened Instagram to see she had tagged you in multiple posts on her instagram story: starting off with a picture of all the guys wearing a jersey with your and Nicole’s name on it, a picture of all the guys watching warms ups intently, a video of Joel and Travis debating the name of a skill from Nicole’s routine (Travis was right), a video of Joel watching you do your beam routine and cheering you on right as you go for your dismount, and then a video of everyone cheering as you and Nicole as they announced the end of day 1.
…..
After falling asleep with Joel on FaceTime, you woke up to your 6am alarm to get ready for Day 2 of championship, Joel - who had told you he would wake up with you - was still sound asleep. Getting you and Nicole an apple from the lobby, you talked to a few of your competitors and a few fans before heading back to yours and Nicole’s room.
“Wake up, bitch, it’s Day 2 of Championships,” you said, jumping to lay next to Nicole on her bed.
“Leave me to die here, I don’t want to go. USAG can suck a homeless man’s dick,” she mumbled into the pillow.
“That’s truly something, wait til the media teams hear about that one,” you joked, only to get a glare sent your way.
“You know what? You can suck on one, too,” she responded, pulling the blanket over her head.
“Well at least, there's less competition,” to which she quickly peaked out of the blanket.
“Oh, you wish. We’re neck and neck this time, so we’ll see who gets bragging rights.”
“Well if you don’t get out of bed, then we’ll never know,” you said, to which she only sent a glare your way.
“Do we really have to get up and compete today? Do you think we could petition to reschedule?”
“I mean, I’m sure if we talked to people, we’d get a lot of signatures, but I don’t think it would go over well,” you said, grabbing your garment bag that held your leo for today, “I’m going to go get ready because I know if we end up talking to Joel and Nolan first, we won’t be ready in time.”
After you got ready, both you and Nicole got your pep talk from Nolan and Bee. On the way to the arena, both of you got a bunch of good luck messages - not just from your friends and family, but also from teammates and even some from most of the Stars roster. You had a feeling in your gut that today would be a good day.
…..
“Alright folks, Day 2 of Championships have been off to a great start and are about to come to a close. With Nicole Carter in first with a 57.605 All-Around score and Kathryn Davis in second with a 57.1, Cassie Riley in third with a 56.2, it comes down to the final rotations. y/n y/l/n is one of the last to go on floor today, who will need a score of at least a 13.5 to get first,” the announcer said.
“And compared to her average score, this will be easily attainable. If she scores at least a 14.5, she’ll be first overall for both days of competition. She already has a for sure spot at Trials, even when you don’t consider scores. As long as she is able to hit all elements of this routine, she’ll be fine,” another announcer said.
“Ok, you’re good, you just have to hit this routine and there’s no doubt you’ll make it to where you want to be. Deep breaths, Twinkle Toes,” Marcus said.
Walking up the platform to get up to the floor, you took your spot at the edge of the floor, ready to salute the judge, and get the last meet of championships out of the way. After anxiously waiting, the judge finally saluted. Entering the floor with a determined walk, you took your spot waiting for the familiar sound of your floor music to ring out.
That familiar feeling of doing the sport you loved, once again, rushed through your veins. Block everything out and complete the routine, that’s all you had to do. Going to your starting pose, the music started. Going through the familiar motions of your routine, you stuck your first tumbling pass. Then came the leaps and jump sequence and all that was in between, with the additional three tumbling passes.
You didn’t give yourself a chance to overthink about your routine, you knew that it wouldn’t benefit you in any way, but as you stepped off the floor you knew that you did what you could. As soon as you made it back to where Marcus and Nicole were sitting, you waited to see what your score was.
Joel and everyone watching at home watched as you sat down to see what your score was. He had this dopey grin gracing his features from the amount of pride he felt in that moment. He didn’t care what your score was, he knew you had put whatever you could out on the mat. He listened to Travis for a moment until the announcer started up again for scores and awards, “and y/n y/l/n pulled through with the score that she needed, a 14.9 on floor. She placed first in All-Around, Carter following right behind, and Davis in third. If all goes this well at trials, I’d say we have a lot of good representation for the Olympic Games.”
…..
After the meet and countless amount of interviews both you and Nicole were extremely worn out and had both passed out on the flight back. As you and Nicole stepped out of the terminal, you were met with the familiar faces of your friends and family. You smiled as you saw Bee for the first time in a few days and despite how tired you were, you couldn’t stop yourself from running to him.
He immediately caught you and did the cliche spin (the one you swore you would never do) before pulling you into a regular hug, “I’m so proud of you, babe. You have no idea.”
“Thank you. I surprisingly missed you,” you joked, laughing harder when Joel pulled you away slightly to catch a glimpse of your face.
“Wow, aren’t I glad I was blessed with such a nice girlfriend? It’s crazy.”
“Absolutely insane.”
“Preposterous.”
“Can the two of you shut the fuck up?” Kevin asked, coming over to give you a hug, “you did good out there, y/n/n. You also kept all your bones intact, I’m proud.”
“Shut the fuck up, Kev.”
“Okay, aside from you getting onto Kev and Bee, I missed you, too,” Karly said from beside Travis.
“I kinda did, too. You did amazing though, y/n/n. I’m proud,” Travis said.
“Thank you, thank you. All in a hard day's work,” you said, shrugging.
“Dude, you might want to go back to Beezer, he looks like a lost puppy watching you talk to us,” Travis pointed out, nodding in Joel’s direction who smiled when you caught his eye.
“Yeah, not a shocking development,” you said, before walking back in Joel’s direction, “hey, Bee.”
“Hey, honey,” he said, wrapping his arms around you again, “you ready to go home?”
“Yeah, of course,” you leaned up to kiss his cheek.
“Ew, guys. Get a room,” Kevin called out, fake gagging.

People love weekends. They’re like a mini holiday. A break from the tedious and repetitive cycle that is Monday to Friday. Weekends are time spent away from the office, your profession and whatever that entails. They are time spent away from completing menial tasks. A break.
Saturdays and Sundays help regain all of the lost energy. When people get caught up in everyday life, weekends remind them to enjoy the simple things. They gives the opportunity to try new things, visit family and friends, or allow to simply spend some time alone. People love weekends.
Your weekend however, was an utter blur.
Aiding a killer hangover on Saturday, you opted to spend the day in bed. A plastic bucket within your reach and a bottle of water on the side table. You slept a lot. Partially to ease the headache, but mainly to ease the pain you were experiencing in your chest. The heartache.
The only thing you could remember from the night before was Spencer completely shattering your hopes and dreams, and the first six shots of tequila you took after at a nearby bar. You weren't entirely sure how you got home; the next morning Ethan clarified he picked you up after the bartender rang him using your phone. Not one of your proudest moments.
Your lack of motivation carried onto Sunday. The grief you were experiencing was not unfamiliar, after all Spencer’s broken up with you before. Although this time the agony that accompanied it felt a lot more intense. You couldn't move, or eat, or even shower. You were frozen. Stuck to the bed as if it was your only lifeline.
Thankfully Ethan was working both days. In your eyes, he was too preoccupied to notice something was wrong. Unbeknown to you however, he knew exactly the reason behind your melancholy.
The weekend soon ended, almost as soon as it began. Monday morning rolled around and with it the encouragement to get out of bed. Not like you wanted to. If you had it your way, you would never leave the comfort and safety of your duvet again. You knew however, you couldn't stay home without at least some of your colleagues questioning your absence, asking what was wrong. No. It was time to face reality.
Time to face Spencer.
The brunette doctor was sat at his desk. He arrived to work today earlier than usual, about four hours early to be exact. He made his usual cup of coffee and since then he hasn't moved an inch, just staring silently at his phone.
It wasn't something he done often, honestly he only carried the thing around for work purposes. But something happened that he couldn't quite get over.
On Saturday morning, Spencer woke up to a message left on his voicemail. A message from you.
At first it was hard to decipher what you were saying, or rather what you were mumbling. Between the drunken hiccups, slurred speech, and obnoxious background noise, Spencer initially thought it was a butt dial. It must have been, right? He was after breaking your heart for a second time, why would you leave him a voicemail?
However, hearing your melodic tone just saying his name, prompted Spencer to listen to the message again. It was then he really heard the distorted words coming out of your mouth.
“Spencerrrrrr, I uh I don't believe yo-ou. I know-w in uh my hearrrt-t you d-didn't mean it.” Hiccup. “P...p-please let’ssss forgetuh abo-ut it.” Hiccup. “I-I love youh-uh anddd I kno-ow you love meeee. I jussst kno-w.” Hiccup. “I-I me-an you uh couldn't-t even look me-e in the eye when you sss-said it.... please-e S-Spencer-”
The message cuts off and he’s left dumbfounded.
Blood drained from his face. The voicemail registered in his brain and he suddenly felt dizzy. Nauseous even. His hands began to tremble in his lap, and he swore if he wasn't sitting down he would have fainted.
By Monday, Spencer had listened to the voicemail a painstakingly two-hundred and eleven times. He had it memorised, and yet he kept playing it over and over again just to hear your voice.
As he sat at his desk, waiting for his colleagues to arrive, he wondered whether you remembered sending it. Truthfully, he hoped you didn't. It would be easier to move on that way - as if moving on from you was an option.
The glass door opened and he heard a faint sound of footsteps walk across the bullpen. Footsteps Spencer would honestly recognise anywhere. Taking in a deep breath, he glanced up from his phone and slightly turned his head, his gaze landing on you.
The air caught in Spencer’s throat, the voicemail instantly replaying in his head.
He wondered what you were thinking. Simply by looking at you he could tell you were in pain. Pain he caused, and he hated himself for it. Having spent countless hours over Saturday and Sunday rethinking the situation, he knew he made a mistake. He should have never given into Ethan’s smug demands. And even if, he should have told you what happened. Leave the choice up to you, as it was in the first place.
It was too late now to fix this, Spencer knew even if you remembered sending the voicemail you wouldn't listen to what he had to say anyway. Selfishly, he wanted you to look at him. He wanted to gaze into your eyes as the drunken message replayed in his mind yet again.
And although you could feel his eyes on you, you couldn't bring yourself to meet his stare. No. The heartache would only intensify. This was a mistake. You should have stayed home. With a blank expression, you placed your bag on your desk and hurried in the direction of the office kitchenette.
Spencer on the other hand followed you with his gaze. Every fibre of his being screamed to follow you, to talk to you. But he was completely frozen and remained glued to his own chair. Once again, a true display of cowardliness.
By lunch time, the whole team picked up on the odd dynamic between you and the handsome doctor. Two people that spent every waking moment together were no longer speaking to one another.  It didn't take a profiler to see something was wrong.
You hid in Penelope’s lair with the bubbly blonde and Tara. Enjoying a couple minutes of peace away from the prying eyes of everyone you worked with, most importantly however, away from Spencer.
“So chicken, are you going to tell us what’s wrong?” Garcia enquired, taking a mouthful of her lunch. “Because a blindman could see something is off, and don't you dare telling me I’m delusional or something.”
“Penelope is right, Y/N. Last time you were this silent and upset was when Spencer was in prison.”
You let out a deep sigh at the sound of his name. It was no use hiding your feelings from them, they would figure it out eventually. Plus these were the people you trusted more than anything in the world. If you couldn't tell them, then who could you tell what was going on?
“It’s something similar.” You mumbled, avoiding their gaze. “Just much much worse this time...”
“Well whatever it is, you can tell us. We’re here for you.” Penelope chimed, and reached out her hand to grab yours. She gave it a gentle squeeze and shot you a reassuring smile.
“Yes, exactly. We will support you through anything, you know that.” Tara added nodding along.
You sniffled. What were becoming all too familiar tears formed in the corners of your eyes, and you knew you would break down at any given second. Taking in a long breath, you began to tell the two girls everything that’s happened since your engagement. They listened attentively, never turning their attention away from you. As they listened, they both held your hands and took turns whispering ‘it’s okay’ or ‘take your time’.
“I’m going to kill our resident genius. He won't know what’s coming.” Penelope murmured after you finished in an attempt to lighten the mood. The corners of your lips twitched ever so slightly upwards as you wiped the tears away from your face.
“What are you going to do?” Tara asked after a congenial moment of silence.
“Ehm...” You cleared your throat. “S-Spencer wants nothing to do with me, but uhm... I after everything I c-can’t, I just can't be with Ethan. I can’t-t.”
The girls both nodded their heads, and even though they understood exactly what you meant by what you were saying, you still felt like you had to say the words aloud. For your own sake.
“So, uhm, I-I’m going to break up with Ethan. I-I’m going to end the engagement.” You stated, and even though your heart still ached, you felt as if a weight was lifted off of your shoulders. You felt free.
And I know it's over - still I cling I don't know where else I can go

Ravenclaw!Renjun x Slytherin!Reader
word count; 2.7k words (longest one yet, my bias really do be showing)
warnings; *very* suggestive kissing, female reader, bullet point au, unlike the other fics in this series, this one is pretty much entirely based on the build up to the relationship and has little about the characters together, enemies to lovers au. also i researched year 7 DADA content for this to make it realistic so never say i dont put effort into my writing ahahaha
Huang Renjun had been your enemy the second you had stepped foot into your first class at Hogwarts
It was only natural; you both came to school, bright eyed and ready, with the expectation and aspiration to be top of the class
you had read through and memorized all the books on the provided reading list before you had even boarded the train - everyone thought you were made to be a ravenclaw which is why it was a bit of a shock when you were sorted into Slytherin, but you supposed it was your ambition
you had planned to become the youngest minister of magic there had ever been since you were 4
which meant going to Hogwarts, achieving the highest grades and being top of your year, becoming prefect, head girl and going on to work in the ministry and work your way up
little did you know, Renjun also had big plans
to ruin your perfect record
the very first lesson you had with him; you hadn’t even noticed the quiet ravenclaw who sat behind you
that was until the Professor asked a question and he had stated the answer so confidently, you almost flinched
you had answered the first few, which was why his voice interrupting was so shocking
you hadn’t even gotten the opportunity to open your mouth
you knew the answer of course, you just weren’t as quick as he was
which is why the next time your Professor asked a question, you made sure to get there first
it continued like that the whole lesson, a vicious back and forth game of who could answer first
you enjoyed some healthy competition and all, but it was like he was purposely trying to annoy you
the final straw was when you turned around in your seat at the end of the class to glare at him and he had that stupid smug smile on his face that you learnt to despise over the next few years
ever since then, everything was a competition to you two
and everyone at Hogwarts knew it
quidditch
house cup points
you name it, you’ve had an argument over it
neither of you even played quidditch but you would still argue with him about how Slytherin was better
you even once partook in a particularly heated game of wizard chess that ended with a flipped chess board and a few choice words being shouted at each other
there were many people that Renjun didn’t like but you were the only one that could make him flip a wizard chess board in rage (Although, if you asked him he would say you were the one who threw it)
wizard chess was banned after that
everyone hated you for it
this competition was helpful to an extent; you were top of the class in most classes, except the very, very few in which Renjun had beaten you
your days were spent in the library, cramming as much as you could, the desire to beat Renjun outweighing your need for sleep or basic human needs
needless to say he was the exact same but you both made sure to sit as far away from each other as humanely possible in the library
you could honestly say the best day of your life was when you realized that you had made prefect and he didn’t
that got held over him for a good two years
then again, Renjun could also say that he beat you in your O.W.Ls, so it evened out
when you started dating Han Jisung in 6th year, who was another Ravenclaw, you had him reporting back Renjun’s grades in the classes you weren’t in with him
you both competed for who had the least amount of detentions given - you had 2, which were both caused by the few times your competition had turned physical and you had shot a few jinxes at him, and Renjun had 5, two from his incident with you and the other 3, a result of his unfortunate friends
which meant both of you had pretty much squeaky-clean records
you attributed your near perfect grades and having the best record in your year as the main reason why, the summer before seventh year, a neat little green pin with, ‘head girl,’ had arrived in the mail
of course, you were happy that your parents were proud of you, but you felt a vindictive joy knowing that you had something new to hold over Huang Renjun
That was until, you showed up on the first day to the first prefect meeting on the Hogwarts express and were met with the one and only Huang Renjun, the pin on his chest sat bright blue with ‘Head Boy,’ proudly etched into the metal
according to the pale look on his face, he hadn’t expected you to be Head Girl either
Professor Lee, the Headmaster, seemed to recognize his mistake almost immediately, considering he had two teenagers debating each other in his office before the school year had even started
“You can hardly expect me to work with him-”
“Of course, you can’t expect us to work together, I actually know what I’m doing-”
“Know what you’re doing? You weren’t even a prefect you poser-”
“You’re right I wasn’t, but I’m still smarter than you!”
the Headmaster had silenced you both with a wave of his hand, before you could retaliate with the fact that you’re beating him at potions, what does he mean, smarter than you?
“Okay. If you can’t work together, that’s fine. However, I expect one of you to make the mature, adult decision to step down from your position, not push the other one to resign.”
You looked at each other
there was no way either of you were going to do that
He stared at you both for a moment, before sitting down calmly at his desk
“I chose you both because of your maturity, exam results and impressive behavior these past 6 years. I would appreciate if you both put aside this feud and worked together for your student body.”
You stared at your hands, refusing to look at Renjun as shame gnawed at your chest
“Now, back to your dormitories.”
And so you were stuck with him
you thought that perhaps, Professor Lee’s words of wisdom would create a newfound maturity
but no, he was the exact same annoying little shit he was before
just this time, he had authority
As Head Boy and Head Girl, you were required to do prefect duty late at night together
which essentially meant you both had to walk around Hogwarts late at night on a Friday and Saturday and make sure no one was out of bed and wandering the castle when they shouldn’t be
you spent those nights in an awkward silence
you wished you could split up but you had to walk around together for, ‘safety reasons’
realistically you thought that schools were meant to be safe to walk around late at night by yourself but Hogwarts is just built different
as head boy and head girl you were given the most hectic two days of the week as well, which meant you had broken up more parties than you were comfortable to admit
you had even caught your boyfriend at a few parties, but you discreetly avoided giving him detentions
he couldn’t say anything though, he had let off Donghyuck and his girlfriend when you had found them making out
speaking of which
the amount of times you had caught a half-dressed couple attached to each other was just kind of gross
the amount of time you spent with Renjun was starting to defrost you both a little
not a lot though; just simple things like how you would ask him how he found the potions homework
sometimes it would spark an argument, but you could now have a conversation without some sort of spiteful remark
you kind of had to; otherwise you were just left in silence
your time spent together was usually uneventful
until the weekend of valentine’s day
that Saturday was valentine’s day and the day of a hogsmeade trip
Jisung had asked you to go, but you had an important Herbology exam on Monday, not to mention you had to be alert for prefect duty so you couldn’t be running around Hogsmeade
he had seemed annoyed, but he had always known how much your future meant to you
it seemed Renjun had thought the same because the only people in the library, or it seemed the entire castle was the two of you
prefect duty that night was the least awkward it had ever been
he had even said something that had made you laugh
however the lack of awkward tension between the two of you counterbalanced with the awkwardness of having to check every single broom cupboard you happened across as, as you had expected, many people had been affected by valentine’s day
what you hadn’t expected though, was to spot your boyfriend leaving the Gryffindor common room, hair disheveled and his t-shirt on inside out
“Jisung? What are you doing out of bed at this time?”
He looked like a deer caught in the headlights
“Sorry, the Gryffindors were throwing another party again. You know what they’re like,” he laughed awkwardly
your eyes flickered down to the red and purple bruises which littered his neck
“I didn’t put those there. You were cheating on me, weren’t you?” You asked so matter-of-factly, that Renjun was somewhat taken aback
you were using the voice you used to answer the teacher or argue with him
you didn’t seem emotional at all
Jisung looked like he wanted to pretend, but his face fell into a tired, yet annoyed look
“Can you blame me?”
You blinked at him
“Yeah.”
“Your whole life is dedicated to another person, (Y/N).” Jisung gestured to where Renjun stood
“No it’s not! Don’t be so ridiculous.” You had scoffed
“You didn’t go out with me today because you wanted to beat him in a test and be awake to spend time with him.”
“That’s not true!”
“You didn’t spend time with me on my birthday because you couldn’t miss a prefect meeting or Huang would hold it over you. You made me spy on him, and he tried to get me to spy on you too. Ever since dating you my life has just been this whirlwind of Huang. You do realize everyone in school thinks you’re in love with each other!”
He was shouting at this point
You looked at him, unable to argue with him this time, but the coldness in your eyes refused to budge.
“That doesn’t give you the excuse to cheat. I’m breaking up with you.”
He rolled his eyes
“Fine. At least now you can fuck Huang to your hearts content, considering the whole school is already betting on it.”
Before you even had time to react, Renjun had shot across the hallway, raising his fist and, with a sickening crunch, broke his nose
“Renjun!”
You grabbed his arm, pulling him back before he could do anymore damage
“Go to the hospital wing, Jisung.” You instructed
He glared at the two of you before swinging on his heel and leaving
you and Renjun didn’t look at each other for the rest of the night
or the next few weeks after that
Jisung had told everyone what had happened
he kind of had to, the bruising around his eyes gave away the events of the previous night
the whole school were watching you and Renjun intently, now that they knew how he had punched Jisung for you, thinking that this was finally it
you were finally going to get together
but you didn’t interact at all
not even to correct each other in class
the truth was, both of you were deliberating your feelings for each other
Jisung was right
you had told yourself that everything you did was for your career path, but why then did you have such a hyper fixation on Renjun?
you did well in life without your on-going rivalry with the Ravenclaw
was it just petty stubbornness? or was Jisung right in thinking that it was because of some other reason?
You found yourself staring at him in some of your classes
he was good looking, there was no denying that
but did you like him like that?
Renjun had been having the same internal battle
why did he suddenly find it in himself to punch Jisung in the face?
that was incredibly unlike him
just the way he had spoken about you and to you had made him so angry
the year flew in, and soon it was June and you still hadn’t spoken to each other
It wasn’t until your very last day doing prefect duty that the silence was broken by you
“How’d you think you do on your exams?”
he looked at you, shocked. You hadn’t spoken to him in 5 months.
“Uh- good. I go stuck on familial curses on the Defense paper, but I think I did okay in the end.”
“Oh, I wrote that the spell needs to be tied to the bloodline as opposed to the surname.”
“I thought it was that you had to tie it to the surname, because it doesn’t count as a blood curse?”
“No, because if the caster doesn’t understand familial relationships it doesn’t work, any first year could understand that.”
He went quiet for a moment before mumbling,
“I’m going to cast a goddamn familial curse on you in a moment.”
“Why are we like this?” you asked, stopping your walk to pause for a moment in the middle of the hallway
He stopped too, but he refused to look at you
“You started it...” He grumbled, staring down at his feet.
You rolled your eyes
“Why did you punch Jisung?” You asked blatantly
His head shot up in surprise
“Why did you have Jisung spying on me?” He challenged back, taking a step forward
“Why did you have Jisung spying on me?” you repeated
you both fell silent, and only then you realized how close you had gotten
you didn’t miss the way his eyes flickered down to your lips for a moment
“If you’re going to kiss me, kiss me. Don’t pussy out now.” you uttered, your words sharp and cutting
“Oh, shut up.” He replied, rolling his eyes
“Make me.” You challenged
Grabbing your waist, he pulled you to his body, colliding your lips with his violently
you let out a muffled sound of surprise, not expecting him to follow through, but upon feeling the smile which had grown on his face at your shock, you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him closer to you
you couldn’t let him win, not after the past how many years of sexual tension
your lips competed in mess of sloppy kisses, his hands moving down from your waist to your hips, pushing you against the wall in the hallway as yours moved to the back of his head, grabbing a fistful of his hair, using the way he gasped at the feeling to deepen the kiss, sliding your tongue into his mouth
you let out a shameful groan at the feeling of his body pressing against yours and almost whined when he pulled away
your lack of contact didn’t last long, as he attached his mouth to your neck, biting down sinfully
you threw your head back against the cool stone wall which felt deliciously cold against the the heat of Renjun to allow easier access to him as he continued to suck marks into your skin until-
“Renjun?”
You practically threw Renjun off of you, ignoring how erotic the sight of his mussed hair and swollen lips were
in front of you stood the two hufflepuff prefects, Zhong Chenle and a girl who’s name you could never remember, staring at you
the girl seemed shocked, but Chenle simply had raised an eyebrow, a mischievous smirk on his face
you had forgotten him and Renjun were friends
“You do know I’m going to have to give you both detention for making out in the hallway. By your rules.”
Renjun rolled his eyes
“New rule. We’re the exception.”

☁️ Synopsis: Being Bakugou’s ex was full of surprises, one of them being the 3 AM drunk dials on a Friday night.
☁️ Pairing: Pro!Bakugou Katsuki x Reader
☁️ Genre: angst (?)
☁️ Warnings: Cursing
☁️ Note: i love breakup scenarios, especially when they hint for something else 👀
Tumblr media
A grunt left your throat as your phone started buzzing once again, forcing you to pause the romantic movie you were watching just seconds ago.
It was a Friday night. Usually, you'd be out with friends, getting a little intoxicated after a long week fulfilling your hero duties, but today was different. Today you were in one of your moods.
You were currently inside your apartment, wrapped in a fuzzy blanket with a hot cup of cocoa by your side, even it wasn't that cold. You just wanted to feel some kind of warmth since you were obviously craving human affection. You just wanted to stay in tonight, even if your friends were blowing up your phone for you to join their "no-guys-allowed girl's night." It was probably Mina, the one calling for the tenth time, trying to convince you to put on your most sexy outfit and join them in the nearest club. You already told her before you were staying in, but your best friend knew exactly why you were like this, and she hated the reason behind it.
A sigh of irritation escaped your lips as you reached for the phone, ready to tell Mina you were not in the mood, but the air was sucked right out of your lungs when you read the caller I.D. It wasn't Mina, but the reason why you were in such a mood in the first place.
Bakugou fucking Katsuki.
You and Bakugou used to be a thing back in U.A. and lasted a long while until your eventual breakup two months ago after nearly three years of dating.
It was his idea, of course. You loved him too much to end things off because you had to focus on your job. You'd prefer to work through things together and help each other out once the challenge because too hard for only one person to bear. You'd be there to help him get out of bed every morning, to help him with his workout schedule... with everything. But Bakugou thought differently. He wanted to do it alone. He didn't need anyone's help to achieve his goals, even if that someone was you.
But that didn't stop him from calling you whenever he had too much to drink.
Your finger hovered over the green button as you wondered if you should just accept the call, and you decided on that just seconds before it would go off.
"Hello?" Your tone was stern. You wanted to make it known you weren't in the mood for his antics. "Do you know that time it is?"
The thing is, you accepted the breakup. If Bakugou didn't want you around getting in his way "ruining" his dreams, as he said himself, then it was fine. As soon as he confirmed he didn't want to be with you anymore, you removed yourself from his life. Yes, you loved him, but you loved yourself as well, and you wouldn't bed for his attention. That's something you promised yourself.
But Bakugou? Not so much.
"At least you answered this time." His voice was slurred, as it always was whenever he attempted to communicate with you, and you could almost smell the breath of whiskey mixed with his caramel scent. "I guess it's my lucky night."
Even if he ended things, it hurt his ego when you just accepted it so quickly. You didn't cry more than a few tears when he left your shared apartment, you didn't try to call him when you got drunk, and when he asked your friends in common how you were doing, he hated that they responded you were doing so well and didn't even mention him.
You didn't know but, deep inside, Bakugou wanted you to run after him. He knew the impact he had on your life and thought you'd try a little harder than that. So, needless to say, this breakup was hard on him just as much it was hard on you.
"Very funny Bakugou, you're drunk." You deadpanned, taking a sip of your hot cocoa. You heard a grunt on the other side of the line and a bitter smile made it's way up to your features. "Give your phone to Kirishima. That'd save you some embarrassment and save me some patience."
"Why'd you act like you don't love me anymore?"
You almost choked on your drink when you heard those words through your speaker.
Typical Katsuki, making your blood boil with his words.
He wasn't lying, though. It was true you still loved Bakugou, you went through a lot together, and he was your first love and actually boyfriend. You were both a big part of each other's lives.
That's precisely why you were so angry he broke up with you over something you could have worked through together.
"Why'd you only call me when you're drunk?" You retorted back, not caring about being the bigger person, not this time.
Silence filled the other side of the line, and both of you stood like that for a long time before you decided to break the silence.
"Look, we're going nowhere with this con-" "Why did you let me go so easily like that? Didn't I matter to you?"
Oh yeah, you thought your blood was boiling before, now? You were sure you'd be getting a fever after this conversation.
"You mattered, you really fucking mattered. But you were the one leaving me because you wanted to focus on your hero job alone. I tried, okay? I really tried to help you out, but after you told me I was in your way, what did you want me to do? Run after you? Wait for you? Beg for you to not leave me?" The words spilled from your mouth before you could even grab them. It's been a while since you ranted like this to someone, and you'd never think you'd be saying this to Bakugou's face, but fate is a funny thing. "And you still matter... But I don't matter to you."
"Don't say that."
"I just did."
"That's not true, and you know it."
"Then tell me, why'd you only call me when you're like this? Drunk and out of your mind." Tears wanted to fall from your eyes, but you didn't let them, not after crying for days when he first left.
"Because this is the only way I can be honest with myself." He said, his tone getting louder, matching your own. You didn't even realize you were screaming until he did the same, and honestly, you were impressed Bakugou wasn't the first one to start the screaming competition these conversations ofter lead to.
"Bullshit..." The words came out slurred, the lump in your throat getting painful and making it harder to speak. You hated it since you knew Bakuogu knew you well enough to pick up on it.
"What if I come over so we can talk?"
"I have to be up early tomorrow-"
"Bullshit." He said, mimicking the way you cursed at him just moments ago. "Tomorrow's Saturday. You don't go out on Saturdays." He stated matter-of-factly. Damn him and his excellent memory.
"Still Bakugou-"
"It's weird when you call me that."
"Well, it's still your name." You replied. "As I was saying... I'm not sure if I want to see you."
"Well, you didn't say you didn't want to see me. That's a start." You just knew he was smirking on the other side of the line and mentally slapped yourself for the poor choice of words.
"Ugh, whatever. You can come, but you're not coming in. We'll talk outside." You finished, not giving him more space to argue.
"I used to live there, you know?" He asked, and you could pick up the sound of his keys on the other side. He was already walking out of wherever he was.
"Used." You stated. "Just... come fast, I want to go to bed."
"I'll be there in ten."
You were already regretting such a decision, but hey, maybe you'll get some closure. Perhaps it wasn't such a bad idea.
Oh, who were you kidding? This was a bad idea. Meeting up with an ex at three in the morning wasn't the brightest decision, but maybe you were in the mood for a bad idea.
"Text me when you're outside."

Son of Lachesis | Demigod!Jung Jaehyun
Tumblr media
Parent Deity: Lachesis (Goddes of the String of Life; the Second Fate)
Allegiance: Hades
Dark Humor was a thing
He probably picked it up from his dad
His dad was this super successful thriller author
So they had this huge penthouse in New York but Jaehyun was your normal edgy emo teenager
He claimed to hate his life, hate his family, hate his friends
But like, his dad wasn’t bothered by it???
At first Jaehyun thought it was because his dad just didn’t care about him
But then he started to realize that his dad was the same way
He would rather disparage himself in the name of humor than anything else
It was more of a coping technique but oh well
And for some reason, Jaehyun’s senior year of highschool, he moved to Korea
Still doesn’t know why tbh
Something about his dad telling him that it was safer for their family to be closer together
But like his family only comprised of himself and his dad
And his beagle Chu-Chu but that’s it
As far as he knew, he didn’t have any family in Korea
But surprisingly, he fit in well
His last year of high school went by quickly
And soon he was accepted into the medical examiner’s program @ KAIST
What?
He felt more comfortable around cadavers than live humans
It wasn’t weird he just had hella social anxiety
He had a real gift for it too
He could just look at a body and be able to tell how they died
He was oddly able to tell how long ago they died too
He was actually starting to get creeped out by it
So he started talking to the only person he could ever confide in
His dad
It was a long weekend off of uni
And the Friday before he got into a huge argument with his toxicology professor about the substance that one man ingested that led to his death
His professor swore it was Croton tiglium
And he doesn’t know why but something in his gut was screaming that the diagnosis was wrong
So what did he do?
He stole the toxicology report to review it
And he barged into his professor’s office claiming it was actually Daphne mezereum
What scared him the most was that he could swear the man who was lying helplessly on the table was the one who told him what the poison was
So back to his dad’s apartment
Jaehyun was in tears explaining what had been going on to his dad
And sure his dad was the one to lighten up any room he could
But his dad just laughed
And for the first time he actually felt like he was going crazy
He thought that if anyone would be able to help him understand it would be his dad
I mean what was that Ph.D in psychology hanging on the wall for then
But his dad placed a hand on his shoulder and talked to him very calmly.
I think it’s time that you met your mother.
Sniffing, he looked up
I thought she had been dead since I was a baby.
Sorta…
How can someone be ‘sorta’ dead?
She’s more like… undead?
Suddenly a gray smoke started swarming around his feet.
And a young woman, dressed in black with a rose in her hair appeared behind his dad
Jaehyun almost screamed
Dear, Many people are in need to relief so why are you calling me up?
She spoke and her voice was as light of as the mist swirling around her feet
She looked up and made eye contact with Jaehyun
Dear, you know how dangerous it is for them to meet their other parents… why is he here?
She didn’t break eye contact with Jaehyun as she spoke to his father
It’s time he knew. Maybe Taeyong or Yuta could help him? They’ve been through this before.
The anxiety and stress was piling up on Jaehyun until he couldn’t stand it anymore
Knew what? Who is this? Why is our apartment filling with smoke? What have Taeyong and Yuta been through before?
You are a demigod Jaehyun. The woman spoke up, inching closer to his side.
My son, the son of Lacheses.
Lacheses…. The goddess of the string of fate.
I’m the son of a death goddess.
He burst out laughing
He couldn’t tell if it was from shock or denial
Everything made sense
His ominous ability to tell how people died
How long they would live for
So you are telling me Taeyong and Yuta are demigods too?
He looked between his mother and father
Yes, sons of Themis and Bia, respectively of course.
So that summer Jaehyun ended up going to camp with Taeyong
He didn’t feel that comfortable in the Hades cabin, and ended up rooming with Sicheng in the Achelios cabin instead
He also tended to help out with medical care when super dangerous competitions were taking place
If he remembered correctly, Sicheng asked him to because your weird ass ability to tell how long people have to live comes in handy so I can override it.
He said it with all smile on his face too, like people thought Jae was creepy
He is still actively attending uni, still the top student is his toxicology class, despite his prof throwing the hardest cases his way
HE EVEN GOT AN INTERNSHIP AT THE POLICE STATION YAY JAEHYUN
But camp is his life now
He never knew what he would have done if he didn’t have the support system that he did because of it
Yuta is his best friend
Partly because they are apparently first cousins
But also because they just mesh really well together
Whenever Yuta is fighting or practicing
He is there to makes sure to call game before anyone gets fatally injured
It actually got close one time
But other than that
His life is really normal
He eats out a lot
He studies a lot less than he should
He has made lasting friendships
And he has the hugest crush in the world that he refuses to reveal
hey , you
Just tell me! You know I can keep a secret from the hyungs!
Cue Jisung pestering him as they run the track at camp
How do I know that?
Taeyong still hasn’t found out that Chenle and I sneak out every Saturday to go to the arcade and that we were the ones who broke his cat mug.
Good Point.
Sooooo?
Still not telling.
Honestly though, not like it wasn’t obvious enough
Sometimes he wonders if everyone is oblivious to him staring at the back of your head while you run rounds for Sicheng
Or how his eyes follow your figure when he spots you in a crowd
Dude has it bad
And might be a little possessive too
He saw Taeil hug you once and he refused to talk to Taeil for a week
Until Kun saw what was going on and forced them to make up
But you
Girl you might have an even bigger crush
Who knew volunteering was so fun when you got to see Jaehyun every day
Highkey only Renjun knows that you both like each other
What? Renjun knows E V E R Y T H I N G
At least he is like ‘passively’ helping Jaehyun score a date with you
And by ‘passively’ I mean he straight up walked over to you and asked you if you would want to grab dinner with Jaehyun on Thursday, something about studying for toxicology finals
And by ‘passively’ I also mean him straight up telling Jaehyun that you were going to be a the hole in the wall diner on 53rd street a 7 o’clock and if he didn’t show up he was going to kick his ass
So you both showed up
You with study materials
And him with flowers
Johnny told him that flowers were always the way to go
And Jaehyun was beyond embarrassed and confused when you looked up and saw him standing there in a button down shirt that definitely wasn’t his holding a bouquet of flowers
And you were sitting there in sweatpants and your glasses falling down the bridge of your nose
So he did what he does best
Laugh it off
Oh, these are to thank you for helping me study.
Of course, you didn’t have to get me anything though.
In his head he is sitting there cussing Renjun out while also trying to create that empathy link with Yuta so he could tell Yuta to go beat his ass
But he brushed it off and starts studying with you
Only after ordering pecan pie and hot chocolate
Because everyone needs snacks for studying
Right
But you suddenly looked up and stared him straight in the eyes
Why do you even need my help? Aren’t you like top of this class, and IDK you can talk to dead people? Just ask them what happened.
Jaehyun is back to being embarrassed and this time he can’t laugh it off
Well– ummm— you see– Renjun— I—-
Oh for Zeus’ sake can’t you just say that little twerp set us up on a date?
Well… yeah, yeah he did.
YoU — umm— you can leave if you want, I understand if you don’t like me
Why would I leave. And you shouldn’t understand because you are a great guy, of course I like you.
You gave off a cheeky smile before stealing a bite of his pie
Y’all started off really casually
Like a group date here and there, nothing alone
Something in Jaehyun told him it wasn’t going to get serious unless he made the first move
Your father was probably to blame
Zeus was known for being a little aloof when it came to love
But Jaehyun
God Jaehyun had no guts whatsoever
Not until his best friend from New York came to town
Jameson had come to visit over his own spring break, claiming he wanted to see why Korea was so special and “Jeff” as he knew him, never returned to the US
And Jaehyun had taken you with him to the airport, better than dragging along Jeno or Jungwoo, who for some reason was terrified of planes themselves, and Yuta was out of town for a competition and Johnny was still passed out from last night’s party
And when Jameson stepped off the plane, he came barrelling towards Jaehyun, screaming JEFFFFFFERRRRRYYYYY as loud as he could and tackled him into a hug.
After that he began speaking in English a mile a minute
To say you were a deer caught in the headlights was an understatement
Jaehyun obviously wasn’t fazed, he was able to talk back to Jameson at the same speed, not even stuttering
So you felt kinda lost, shrinking away from the boistering boys, opting instead to starting rolling his friend’s luggage to the car
Jaehyun caught wind of your suddenly shy personality and cut off his friend to instead walk over to you
In a much calmer voice, and this time in a language you were actually able to understand, Jaehyun asked if you wanted to be introduced to his friend
You nodded and Jaehyun grabbed your wrist before shutting the trunk of the car.
Pulling you back over, Jaehyun spoke in English again
You could barely make out something along the lines of This is my friend, Y/N, daughter of Zeus.
You gave a small wave and bowed, hoping he wouldn’t speak to you directly, prompting you to speak in your broken tongue.
Just a friend, or something more? Jameson smirked at Jaehyun before looking back over at you
A friend that you can’t have. You couldn’t really understand what Jaehyun said but you could tell that whatever was said, he wasn’t happy about his friend’s comment.
After that you all got into the car where Jaehyun made you sit in the front seat, holding your wrist the entire time, in obvious view of Jameson
Things died down for a while and it went back to the usual
You were still on the track team (more like Pegasus Racing team but whatever)
And Jae came to cheer you on at every game
And Jae was still top of his classes @ KAIST
And you came to cheer him up when the workload got to much for him
But it STILL wasn’t serious
So one night
Specifically, Jameson’s last night in Korea
Everyone decided to head out to Hongdae to go club hopping (pls tell me you people know what club hopping is)
And you were all having fun, dancing, most were also drinking, especially Jameson
Jaehyun somehow ended up being DD after a brutal battle of scissors, paper, rock
So he was sitting there on the side lines, nursing straight tonic water watching everyone else get shit-faced drunk
You weren’t any better to be honest
Jameson started having a habit of trying to get you alone or get you to dance with him
So you thought that if you had to deal with that all night you had to have a couple shots in your system.
PSA TIME PEOPLE!!!!!! PSA!!!!! If someone in your group keeps trying to get you alone or get you to dance with them, both men and women, DO NOT I repeat DO NOT resort to drinking to deal with it. If they don’t get the hint by you avoiding them, tell them straight to their face that you don’t want to be with them. If they still don’t get the hint, seriously consider just leaving wherever you are. Under no circumstances is it okay for them do that. PSA OVER!!!!
Jaehyun had been watching you try to avoid Jameson from the bar all night and after Jameson came up behind you and grabbed your waist he was done
The vision of fully sober, properly pissed off, ready to throw punches Jaehyun was not a pretty sight
Thankfully, at the moment he had enough self-control in his system to not deck his friend straight in the throat
He instead opted to grab your wrist, much more forcefully than last time, and drag you out the back door of the club into the alley way
Then, much more gently, backed you into the wall of the club
He was so close that you could feel his breath on your forehead
Muttering to himself in English, you couldn’t understand what he was saying
Suddenly he looked down and his eyes kept snapping from yours to your lips
I’m probably going to do something I regret right now
Poor you couldn’t even understand him because of him still speaking in English
Next thing you know he was kissing you, pushing you up further against the wall, wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer
After he let go, worry flashed across his face, like he finally realized something
Oh my god, did that bastard hurt you?
He started checking your arms and wrists, even running his hands along your waist to make sure there wasn’t bruising there
For once, Jaehyun actually had the guts
He ended up calling everyone rides, and left early with you so he could take you out on an ‘official first date’
To an ice cream shoppe
Mind you average temps in Korea during, let’s say March is still around 28 degrees Fahrenheit @ night
He realized his mistake after seeing you sit there in the booth, shivering as you picked up your ice cream
So he quickly shrugged off his jacket, wrapping it around your shoulders and grabbing your hands in his to warm them up
First date was still a success in his mind
And all the dates there after
Renjun takes full credit for your relationship, but so does Sicheng, they actually fight about this
Jameson actually isn’t in Jaehyun’s life anymore
And Jaehyun is madly in love with you
Proposes after he graduates, in front of all of his friends, @ the stupid little hole-in-the-wall diner that he claims was his first real date with you
While they all scream JEFFFERRRRYYYY in the background.
really tho, Yuta has it on tape, along with Doyoung forced feeding Jaehyun wine, and him sleep talking about your first official date, all of which he plays at your guy’s wedding
Good luck having all of these idiots as brother in laws :::)))))

Hotel Hobbies - Prelude
Jack “Whiskey” Daniels x Reader Author’s Note: I have nothing to say for myself other than the most shameful of yee-honks.  This was largely just an attempt to break through some writer’s block, but also a little bit of a fuck you to Whiskey’s godawful characterization (get thee hence, canon, thou art dead to me).  In either case I 110% blame @ithinkhesgaybutwesavedmufasa for dragging me into the Pedro pit and for making the “yeehonk loser” tag funny enough for me to go see what the fuss was about.  Either way, this is unbeta’d and barely edited and is probably just a big goddamn mess.  Which fits, quite frankly. Apologies in advance if it sucks. Summary:  He’s an insufferable, obnoxious blowhard.  Which would be fine if he wasn’t also - some-fucking-how - hotter than a fucking wildfire. Warnings: Drinking, flirting, swearing, Whiskey being the obnoxious prick that we know and mostly tolerate. Rating: Mature (for the moment) Word Count: 1510
You’d met him, of all places, in the hotel bar, shored up over a drawn-out business conference.  He’d turned up three nights running, a brash braggart in a stetson and too-tight jeans that seemed to stroll dick-first around the room, tossing pickup lines at anything that moved.  By sheer luck he’d missed you, leaving the first night with a leggy blonde and the second night with a considerably curvier brunette.
Both times you counted your blessings as you watched him walk out with his arm around the unlucky lady.  You didn’t know the man but you knew the type: the costume cowboys that laid on the charm as thick as their cologne to mask the smell of their shitty personalities.
But now on Sunday, night number three, your luck seems to have finally run out.  Just as you finish your drink the bartender sets down another – whiskey, neat – and gestures at the end of the bar.  “From the gentleman.”
You hardly need to look up to know what you’ll see.  Smug, half-cocked grin.  A gentle tip of the hat.
Fuck.  Jesus, why.
You grimace out a polite smile out of sheer habit, and before you can even begin to slide the drink back towards the bartender the man has appeared at your elbow like a country-fried jack-in-the-box.
His cologne, at the very least, is not as heavy as you’d expected.  Small mercies.
“Thanks, but-” you begin, already bracing yourself against the bar to stand.
“Oh no need for thanks.”  He rolls right over you with all the practiced ease of a well-oiled steamroller.  His voice is low, with a thick, heavy drawl that feels just a bit too put-upon to be completely real.  “You’ll have to forgive me for being so forward, but I simply couldn’t stand to see a lady as lovely as yourself drinking alone three nights in a row.  Thought I might offer the benefit of some company.”
He extends a broad brown hand.  A tiny blurred bullseye marks the skin between the thumb and forefinger.  “Name’s Jack.  Most folks just call me Whiskey.”
“Whiskey,” you repeat, trying not to roll your eyes at the rather awful joke.
“Yes ma’am.”
You purse your lips, considering, as his hand hangs between you.  You know more than a few ways to cut this little introduction short, though several of them – while wholly effective – might just see you banned from the hotel bar.  And with easily another three days of bureaucratic bullshit on the horizon, you’re really not keen on that happening. Present company aside, the bar’s pretty nice.
Maybe if you're lucky you can bore him to death.
Begrudgingly you take his hand.  The skin of his palms is thick with calluses.  A surprising thing.  His clothing is more designer than LL Bean, which made you think he was a business man or entertainer – the sort of rich asshole that owned a prized stallion at a private stable somewhere that he rode once or twice a month when he wanted to feel a little authentic.
But those callouses are hard and smooth.  Not quite a workman's hands, but certainly the result of something a good deal more tactile and involved than pencil pushing.  And that’s enough to make you wonder a little.  Now that he's up close and personal, his face makes you wonder a lot. This is no Kentucky white boy.  Not with eyes that dark, or that curving nose.  And honestly, if it wasn’t for that insufferably cocky look on his face, he’d be a hell of a looker.
“I didn’t catch your name,” he says, thumb grazing your knuckles before releasing your hand.
"No, you didn't," you say lightly.  "And I'm afraid I don't have much of a taste for whiskey."
He grins, leaning heavily against the bar and motioning for the bartender. "Well now, if my namesake isn't up to your liking, what would be to your taste?"  He hooks the tumbler of whiskey towards himself with a finger – a rather thick finger, and that's one detail you're a little dismayed to find yourself lingering on – and takes a slow sip.
You tap your glass with three fingers as the bartender approaches.  "Tequila."
The man who calls himself Whiskey gives an appreciative whistle as three shots line up in front of you. "Well now ain't that a plot twist.  You must have a hell of a constitution.  Tequila always leaves me flat on my back."  He eyes you up and down, grinning, and the hot flush that brings on isn't half as uncomfortable as you'd like it to be.  "Reckon I can see a similarity or two."
"I just get the feeling I'm going to need something a little stronger than a Cosmo to get me through this conversation," you reply coolly, ignoring the innuendo.  "You have until I finish these shots, by the way."
Whiskey purses his lips, pouting.  "I see you've already jumped to a few conclusions about me.  Hardly seems fair."
You shrug, downing the first shot with little fanfare.  "You've hardly been subtle.  What happened to Friday and Saturday's girls?"
He takes a sip of his own drink, thumb rubbing thoughtfully against the side of his jaw.  You try not to watch the way his throat works when he swallows.  "Now if I didn't know any better, I'd almost think you were a little sore it took me so long to come and see you."
He positively croons that last, and you tell yourself the warmth you feel kicking up in your belly is just the tequila.  Thank God for plausible deniability.
"Don't flatter yourself, cowboy," you say with a glare.
He chuckles. "Darlin', had I known you'd had eyes on me this whole time I would've come over a hell of a lot sooner," he teases.
You can only shake your head, half in wonder and half in contempt.  "How did you even fit that much ego through the door?"
Whiskey tips his glass to you with a smirk, unfazed.  "Patience, dedication, and a whole lotta practice."
You reach for the second shot, and Whiskey lets out a little sigh.  He puts his hand over your wrist, fingers flat.
"Hey c'mon now.  Slow down, sugar.  As much as I like to tease, I ain't about to put sensibilities or your liver out of sorts for the sake of poking fun."
When he pulls his hand back, reaching for his own glass, it's everything you can do to mask the little shiver that ripples up your back.  He is quite warm.
"I figured you for the sort that'd prefer a girl to be out of her sensibilities," you say quietly, fingers tapping against the rim of your glass.  The skin on the back of your wrist hums where he touched you, and you do your damnedest to ignore it.
The corner of his mouth hitches up in a half-grin.  "Oh, afterward, surely.  But never before."
You roll your eyes.  "An asshole with a sense of propriety.  Now that's novel."
"Part of my charm," he says.  “Bastard by profession and gentleman by nature.  But I mean it.  You are well within every right to walk away.  Ain't gonna harm nothin' but my ego, and Lord knows there’s enough of that to go around.“
You roll the shot glass between your palms.  "And if I walk away?"
Whiskey shrugs.  “Well, then I get to cherish the view as you leave."
"God, shut up."
His grin widens and he leans in, teasing.  "A bittersweet thought to keep me warm, alone in that big empty hotel bed tonight."
The glass almost rolls straight out of your hands.  "I am not fucking you," you sputter, and your cheeks burn as you realize you practically pole vaulted directly to that conclusion with barely any preamble.
The silence hangs after that, heavy and charged.  Somehow you think Whiskey's eyes have gone even darker.
“I said nothin’ of the sort,” Whiskey says delicately, hands raised in supplication.
There's a cold-burning fire in the pit of your stomach. Some of it's the alcohol.  But most of it is a shameful delight at the way he's looking at you, and the mounting surety that you are probably certainly definitely going to fuck him if you don't walk away and call it a night now. You're not sure whether you hate him more for the assumption, or for almost certainly being right.
He says nothing, just looks you over expectantly.  Waiting to see what you’ll do.
Slowly, you down your second shot.  Fuck it.  If this asshole is going to be your next mistake, you might as well make it on your own goddamned terms.
"So," you say, resting your elbows on the bar.  “Whiskey.  What is it that you do?"
He laughs, full-throated, and the corners of his eyes crinkle up in what you suspect might be a genuine smile.  It's lovely, and that might just be the most infuriating thing of all.
"Oh darlin'.  You wouldn't believe me if I told you."

“Oedipus, Oedipus, Oedipus..”
Was the library a mess or they just didn’t have the book at all?
It was the third year of college, the end of the semester, probably everyone grabbed their book to prepare for it sooner and write the review brilliantly so that their last mark can be as high as possible. Studying literature was intriguing, absolutely engrossing. This particular class was very important for you, you made sure to never fail a test or hand your work too late. It was an enthralling class, enhancing your analytical thinking skills and sharing your point of view freely wasn’t the only thing that made it so interesting, it was the professor that made you extremely attentive. Professor Stan. A man in his late thirties, that was like a good glass of wine on a Saturday evening. A charming and prepossessing man that made your breath hitch a little every time he would enter the classroom.
“Stupid book.” You groaned, clearly frustrated by the situation. This never happened before, and you didn’t want it to be the first time now, especially because it was his assignment.
The typical quiet library atmosphere was interrupted by low giggles coming from the desk where the librarian, Mrs. Smith was working. You were lost honestly, help would be nice in this situation.
“You should be a little less strict, they came here last week like a hurricane to grab the books.” Her voice was all sweet and fake? Yes, it was definitely fake since she always talked like she was forced to with the students around. And of course she was talking like that while twirling her wavy hair, everyone here does it when Mr.Stan is chatting with them.
“Come on Lilly, I’m definitely not that hard on them.” He leaned on the desk, giving her a broad pearly white smile, making her giggle even more.
God he made your heart beat wildly, his figure and charming blue eyes were getting more and more hypnotising.
He was definitely not a strict Professor even if he looked sometimes like that. The first day in his class was definitely the most hard one. Having a guy that was so easy on the eye and humorous as well was a big yes for you in life. Even if it was inappropriate, you couldn’t stop thinking about him. The small things made you go insane about him, like his bewitching smile that would brighten up the whole room, his eyes that wouldn’t let you concentrate on what he was explaining whenever his gaze would shift on you, and definitely how your name would roll off his tongue every single time during the lesson.
Mr.Stan was everyone’s silly little crush, every student and professor was almost drooling over him and you were one of them.
“Good Morning Professor.” You greeted the man that had his eyes fixed on you and the dress that was breathtaking for him.
“Morning Miss Y/L/N.” Sebastian’s voice was soft, his eyes not leaving your body. He knew how shy you got around him and how you tried to avoid the direct eye contact with him. Your shyness drove him wild, the innocent behaviour was making him crave you more.
“Sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering if you could check if there’s a book that I need? I can’t find it myself unfortunately.” You asked nicely, Mrs.Smith clearly annoyed how her conversation got interrupted by an annoying student.
“Yeah. Which one?” She exhaled, her horrible honeyed voice making you regret coming here.
“Oedipus Rex.”
“No need to check it, the students came here last week and grabbed them all.”
Great, he is thinking already that you’re irresponsible and that your assignment will be a work of improvisation and memory of what he was talking about it.
“Thank you anyways.” You excused yourself, rushing towards the exit.
You could still feel his eyes on you, how he followed your steps and every movement. As much as you tried to shake that feeling off it was impossible.
Sebastian could say the same. He never felt like that, it was highly inappropriate to think about a student of his in that way. But you were the most beautiful woman he ever saw. Your elegance and purity was intoxicating, God knows how many times he needed to suppress those feelings in order to continue his lecture. Every time your sweet scent filled his nostrils he couldn’t help but imagine how happy would he be if he woke up every morning with you by his side. Sebastian could feel that spark, even when you tried to avoid his eyes and finish a conversation with him as soon as possible, the rosy cheeks gave it all away to him. You could definitely feel something, just like he did.
“Miss Y/L/N.” Sebastian immediately said his goodbyes to Lilly after you left, he couldn’t let his chance get away now.
“Professor Stan?” You were surprised, cheeks burning from the feeling of his body so close to yours. Is he going to let you know how you won’t be able to pass his class without this assignment?
“Last minute assignment?” He laughed, making you even more nervous. You eschewed alone conversations with him, clearly because he made you stutter almost every time and looking him in the eyes made your legs wobbly from the thoughts that would mess with your head.
“N-No, I always do my work on time but it looks like everyone is panicking because it’s the end of the semester and they want to get a better grade.” You half-smiled, giving him a short glance. He grinned, trying to get you relaxed in his company.
“All good Miss, just joking a little. I actually have a solution for your problem.” Sebastian was nervous now, blood pumping in his system eagerly waiting for you to look at him.
“You do?” His eyes were glued to yours, he smiled at your enthusiastic response. Your eyes were calming, he could stare at them for days enjoying the warm feeling.
“I actually have one book at home, a copy I would gladly borrow to you. You definitely need it more now.”
“Oh I, thank you? If it’s not a problem for you I would borrow it. I can come to your office tomorrow to pick it up.”
“I don’t have any lesson tomorrow, you can come to my place today to get it.” Sebastian was trying not sound creepy, he wanted you to say yes, he wanted to get to know you better.
You weren’t sure if you heard that right or not, but the thoughts of you and him in his apartment made you feel dizzy instantly.
“I-I sure? Only if I won’t be a bother. It’s Friday I don’t want to disturb you.”
“Nonsense, here’s my address. Come whenever you want after college finishes.” He nodded, feeling like a teenager again. The tingle in his gut was strong, he was smitten and when you flashed him a bright and wide smile it was enough for him to burst. You were so powerful, your presence and bashfulness could make him feel so much things at the same time. Sebastian fell hard for it, he loved how you were a tender-hearted person always helping students around in his lecture, he admired how quiet you were around him but you never had a problem to speak in his class. Your arguments were phenomenal, exceptional and every time you negated his opinion, Sebastian would fell for you even more.
“Thank you Professor Stan.” Your voice was shaky, it was hard to maintain the eye contact even if his eyes were beginning for yours to acknowledge them at least once.
-
Sebastian’s nerves were running wild. You should be here any time, and he was losing his mind. He was imagining how will you look outside class, how your hair will be done and how will your time go together. The only thing he wanted was you to stay. With him.
It wasn’t just the innocent thoughts, the ones of you with your legs wide open for him were definitely stronger. You were a work of art, he lost count of how many nights he lost sleep because of his imagination. Sebastian couldn’t help but think about your soft whimpers and moans begging for him, begging him to make you feel good. The blood in his system rushed down, the space in his boxers became so small just from the thought of you.
It was the bell that woke him up from his trance. You were here.
“Just a second!” He groaned, the now rock hard shaft in his pants made it difficult to think clearly, it ached for some attention.
“Good evening, Professor.”
That sweet, innocent voice. You’re making it so hard sweetheart.
“Evening, come inside please.” His eyes caught yours for a second before you shifted them to the enormous house he was living in.
Sebastian’s eyes popped wide, the long dress from today was replaced with a much shorter one. Your legs were looking great, and the bare back stopped his breathing instantly. You looked divine, but Sebastian couldn’t stop himself from thinking what’s underneath. He was sure you tasted so sweet, much sweeter than your scent.
“Oedipus by Sophocles right? Do you know that I absolutely hated this book in college and now I’m torturing you with it.” He started a small conversation with a joke, his hot breath tickling your neck.
Your were so tense, you couldn’t do anything back in your apartment with him on your mind. He was a constant distraction, even at night. Many nights were spent thinking about him while you pleasured yourself, his voice echoing in your ears.
“The plot is a bit twisted sure, but what I heard from you Professor I kind of got interested in the story behind everything.” You tried to chat as well, stop the shy you that came out every time you were around him. However he made it so difficult.
He was dressed in black pants, his usual baby blue shirt replaced with a white one.
“Found it.” He spoke, showing you the book that was resting in his palms.
You weren’t focusing on it, the only thing on your mind was his messy hair and large hands that would cup your ass perfectly. He was grinning from ear to ear as he handed you the book you needed. The once avoid the eyes immediately situation was now long gone, your eyes were resting on his face. Sebastian noticed you staring, he loved to feel them exploring his body.
“Here you go.” You could swear that he was near that large shelf a second ago, not near your left side. He focused on your red lips that were slightly parted, imagining how lovely they would look around his throbbing shaft. Sebastian’s mind was going to explode like a ticking bomb if he doesn’t kiss you soon. You were irresistible in every way possible.
“Thank you Professor, you’re a life saviour for me.” Your chin trembled as his arm was placed on your shoulder, shivers of pleasure going up and down your spine.
“Please Y/N, it’s Sebastian. We’re not in class now.” He wasn’t a fan of formalities, especially with you in this moment. Professor or sir could go only in bed.
“Thank you Sebastian really, I-I should probably go now I don’t want to ruin your evening. Thank you once again.” You honestly didn’t want to leave, this was everything you ever wanted. Him and you, all alone and close to each other.
“Don’t be silly please. I don’t have plans, except marking your last week tests, but yeah nothing special.”
You tried to speak once again but he was definitely faster, he couldn’t let you go.
“Please stay, take a seat. I invited you to my house, not offering you a drink would be rude from me.” Sebastian’s sentences were a mess, you laughed how a different person he was outside work.
“I guess it would.” If he could push the professional relationship aside so could you right?
“What would you like?” Sebastian was over the moon, you relaxing on his couch was a sight he always wanted to see. You both shared a few looks, grinning widely.
“Surprise me.”
He wasn’t used to these kind of answers, you were much more open after he implied that there was no need for Mr. and Miss when you were alone.
“My favourite.” His figure plopped down next to you, both of you sipping on the bitter and strong beverage.
“You have a great taste.” You were never like this, this wasn’t you. The shy, quiet Y/N left, all because the desire was too strong.
Did he want the same as you? What if you got the wrong message?
“No need for the shyness, look at me.” He wanted to look at your eyes, his index finger hooked underneath your chin guiding your face up.
The fear of being rejected or doing something you didn’t want to was stopping him from so many things, he wanted to test the waters first but you were making him go nuts. You didn’t flinch at his touch, it was a soft gentle touch that you wanted to feel on your whole body.
“There they are.” If he would describe the feelings you gave him every time you were close, professional or not he could go on and on.
“You know, you’re really smart.”
“Thank you.” You breathed out a chuckle, finishing your drink.
“You were the first one that caught my attention, you were always so quiet around me but you never had a problem to say what you had on your mind in my lectures even if it was different from what I thought it was right.” Your heart leaped like a wild stag in your throat. Was he really into you?
“Your pure heart and wild nature that was hidden made me go absolutely crazy.” Your lips looked so kissable, he wanted to smash his against yours so badly.
“Thank you, you’re a great Professor.” It sounded so stupid, but it was the best that could come out of your mouth.
“And you look great Y/N.” That was it, Sebastian couldn’t hold it anymore. The space between you was so small, his hand rested on the nape of your neck while you both began breathing rapidly.
“W-We shouldn’t do this.” You wanted it. You needed it. However you were still worried what will happen after it.
“Are going to tell me that you don’t feel this like I do? Tell me to stop Miss Y/L/N if you don’t want this.” Sebastian was teasing, his lips on yours but there wasn’t any movement at all.
Wasn’t this what you wanted the last couple of years? Why were you hesitating now? This will be just between you.
“Fuck it.” You couldn’t hold back, your hand flew over his shoulders lips moving against his hotly.
Sebastian was smiling into the kisses, the fact that you couldn’t resist him was a dream come true. He was right, your wild nature was just hidden behind that angel face. Your lips burned on his skin, his imaginations came true and now he will never get enough of you. His hands were placed on your sides, giving them a slight squeeze encouraging you to do more.
“Miss Y/L/N you are a fucking dream come true.” He broke the kiss focusing on your neck. You granted him more space as you leaned your head on the side. You sucked in a breath as his swollen lips marked you, leaving a trail of goosebumps on your skin.
Sebastian was lost, your heat on his crotch and your low grunts are going to be the death of him.
“Eager? Are you going to be polite and ask what you crave doll?” His fingers pushed the silky material of your dress down, your breasts and perky nipples on display just for him.
“Gorgeous.” The pulsing in his pants began to hurt, he wanted to push his girth inside your little pussy now. You were still not answering, moaning from the pleasure he was giving you. Sebastian wanted to tease the shit out of you, but he also wanted to see you fall apart with him inside of you.
“I’m waiting Miss, are you going to answer me?” Without a warning he wrapped his mouth around one nipple, making you tremble as the other was between his fingers.
“Oh fuck, please make me feel good Professor.” Your panties were damp, probably leaving a wet spot on his pants.
“Good doll.”
“Are you going to let me see how much you want me?” You nodded, heart thudding in your chest as he pushed the thin material to the side sliding his fingers up and down your folds.
“My God, you are dripping.” The husky voice mixed with his leisure movements made you groan loudly. He brought his fingers into his mouth, tasting your arousal. It was a sight to remember, his eyes staring deeply at yours while sucking the fingers clean.
“Just like I thought. So sweet doll.” The talking made you clench around nothing, making you grind against him, too shy to ask him to start.
“Don’t be shy, tell your Professor what you desire.”
You were lost for words, rubbing your clit against the rough material and his shaft was the only thing you could focus on. Even if it was a sight Sebastian wanted to see some other time, he needed to show you who was in charge tonight.
“So naughty, do I need to teach you how to behave? Always so nice and shy in my class and now you’re misbehaving, I don’t like that.” His palm landed across your ass, gripping it after smacking the soft flesh. The sudden sting stopped your actions, your hands resting on his chest while your ass was in the air.
“Do you need more or are you going to answer me doll?”
You couldn’t speak, you shook your head so he could know that you’re going to answer him soon. But he wanted to do it more even if he understood your message.
“Words.” The flat was filled with smacking sounds and your yelps from the pleasure he was giving you.
“P-Please, want to feel you inside me, want to feel you here. All of you.” Your hand pushed his palm flat against your stomach and it was enough for Sebastian to unleash the beast inside of him.
“I will make you feel so good sweetheart, so good that you will come back for more.”
He stood up, you in his arms while he rushed to the bedroom. Everything was better than the images he had in his head for so long. You were on his bed, knees bent and your breasts in your hands. If you continued like that he won’t even start.
“Want to undress you.”
Fuck.
The white shirt was already off, your fingers going slowly down his torso making him flinch. While you worked on the belt, your lips ghosted over his stomach, peppering soft kisses. His muscles contracted after every contact, he wanted to fuck your pretty little pussy for the whole night.
“I want to feel your mouth around me doll, I really do but I need to be inside you more. Next time I promise.” Sebastian spoke, moving his thumb across your lips.
You were all but shy now, your batted your eyelashes looking at him, begging him to take you how he wanted to.
“Fuck, so fucking wet.” He cooed, sliding his tip slowly from your clit to your entrance enjoying the slick sounds that you both made together.
“Please Sebastian, need you.” You squeezed his hands that was pinning you down to the bed. Your sweet pleads were burning in his ears, he wanted to hear you plead every day from now on. You were his now. Only his.
“Shit doll. Shit.” He pushed inside you so easily, staying like that for a second to feel your warm walls around his shaft.
“Shit, move. Need you to move.”
A deep growl rumbles in his chest as he began thrusting into you, he spread your legs as much as possible, pushing them down to your chest so he could go deeper. Sebastian wanted to feel every inch of you tonight.
“You look so hot like this, you take me so well.” The dirty talk continued, making you clench around him and Sebastian definitely noticed it.
“You love it don’t you? Love it when I say how good you are for me? How could I not you’re my favourite doll. No one could take me like you, no one could make me this hard.” He let go of your legs, moving his hands to your hips gripping them before he slammed into you mercilessly. His thick fingers drew circles around your swollen clit in a fast pace. Your back was arched, tears from pleasure were forming in your eyes. You were so close. The thrusts were harsh but still gentle, he wanted you to enjoy this moment you shared.
“My lovely girl, shall I let you cum? You’re squeezing me like crazy here. Were you a good little doll to me, hm?” Your walls were tightening around his dick, a breath stuck in your throat.
“Please Professor, I w-was so good. Please let me cum, I-I can’t. I’m good.” You stuttered, biting your lip from the sensation.
“Go on beautiful, let me see you cum. Show me that you’re only mine.” You moaned loudly, shrieking as the orgasm washed over you, your tight walls clamping around his cock as he pushed faster into you.
Sebastian could only curse, looking at your mouth that was wide open as the euphoria washed over you. He was close as well, his movements became sloppier, and the squeeze around his arm that encouraged him to cum was bringing him to the edge.
“Come on Seb, let go. Want you to fill me up like you promised.” Your voice was making it difficult to continue, he pressed his lips to yours kissing you gently as he coated your walls with his hot cum.
“Fuck.” He kissed you once again, staying inside of you for a moment ,his member still pulsating against your walls.
You purred against his lips, wrapping your arms and legs around him showing him how much you enjoyed this with him.
“Fuck doll, I’ve been waiting for this since day one.” You were both panting, laughing as he pressed short kisses on your neck and collarbone.
“Me too.” You were back to the shy Y/N once again, hiding your face in his neck.
“Back to the old Y/N. Fucking adore you.” Sebastian rolled you both over, bringing you into his arms. You were sweaty, out of breath and your mixed fluids were dripping out of you, but you still couldn’t get enough of each other.
“I can always borrow you books if you will repay me like this doll.” He joked, earning a playful slap from you.
“Maybe we can arrange something.” You whispered, his grin growing wider as his fingers caressed you naked body. Sebastian was glowing, wanting to spend the rest of the night with you in his arms.

my contribution to the bapo timeline discourse bc i’m just gonna propose a timeline and will not be taking criticism <3 (under the cut bc this is gonna be a long post probably)
ok disclaimer I am quite stupid, however I’m gonna use my knowledge from my own 12 years in american public high school and what little info I have about american boarding schools/catholic schools that I have from my friends lol. so. idk.
i’m also gonna date songs/major events and i’m gonna be taking some “just trust me bro” liberties bc y’all are right it does NOT make that much sense.
January 6: Epiphany; this is like an actual holiday lol. like its always on the sixth. idk its good that this is the starting point bc its an actual date yknow? For the purposes of this timeline were going with that its early in the week, so lets go with Monday idk
January 6-13: You and I, Role of a Lifetime; so we’re all kinda in agreement that this timeline (at least the beginning) only really makes sense if you and i/role of a lifetime aren’t like. a singular moment and are instead multiple days. so yeah, of this first week, this is like. monday-next sunday ish yknow.
January 14: Auditions, Plain Jane Fatass; ok so having auditions for a spring musical right after kids get back from break actually makes perfect sense to me, like i can see it being like “ok take break to prepare so as soon as you come back we can have auditions so we can jump right into rehersals” yknow? and since the rave is clearly on a friday (”we’ll meet in tanya’s room on friday night”) so i’m going with the monday before.
as for pjf, i know it doesn’t make a ton of sense for them to get a two week late birthday package their first few weeks back from school, but hear me out it makes sense. the implication throughout this entire show is that the twins have decently shitty parents. from bits of dialogue (in this song in particular lol) i’m kinda inferring their the “only concerned with how their kids make them look to others” kind of neglectful. so I don’t think it’s too outside the realm of possibility that they went away for the holidays, didn’t bring the twins, and instead mailed them a birthday package and having it show up two weeks late. realistically the timing of this isnt that important and the explicit “two week” time frame could’ve been an exaggeration on nadia’s part to mock her shit parents (idk its in her character) basically ppl are a little two fixated on this imo but anyway. moving on.
January 18: Wonderland, A Quiet Night At Home, Rolling, Best Kept Secret; a very agreed upon point in the timeline. its the friday following the auditions. moving on.
January 21: Confession; also very agreed upon. the monday following the rave. moving on again
January 23: Portrait of a Girl; the date here is kinda arbitrary, but bc sister chantelle says “ok lets try to put yesterday’s rehearsal behind us” and i for the life of me cannot think of a scene she could be referring to (there’s none in the script either) that implies it wasn’t the same monday as confession (bc even in a boarding school i think holding extracurriculars that aren’t sports over the weekend (especially when they are no where near crunch time lol) is weird and not common) so i just picked a random day during the week
January 25: Birthday Bitch!, One Kiss, Are You There?; from matt’s line in wonderland, ivy’s birthday is a week after the rave. in my timeline that’s january 25th (an aquarius queen).
btw given all grown up’s “17, how will i manage?” ivy is 16 during 17 at her party, which is strange given shes a high school senior and seniors are typically 17 during 18. so either a) she skipped a grade, not an unheard of thing. or b) shes not a senior, shes just a junior who hangs out with a bunch of seniors, which is also pretty common. and looking through the script i can’t find any mention that she is also a senior, other than yknow she graduates with them, but she isn’t mentioned during the class ranking scene? so idk not that it really matters just a fun detail
February 3 (at night): 911 Emergency!; ok controversial. i know i like the joke about how its funny that peter having a weird dream when he was high prompted him to want to come out and really ruined his relationship with jason. BUT. i think the dream (despite it’s weirdness) would have a lot more meaning if it wasn’t the result of being really high, but if it was a dream he had like a week later as a result of a building sense of guilt/anxiety bc he told matt. also it fits better given later timeline things. (this timeline literally only exists if there are weird jumps in time that don’t make a ton of sense) (EDIT: I forgot one line about Jason crashing at ivys but fuck it forget that bitchass line this makes for more drama its staying this way)
February 4: Reputation Stain’d, Ever After; the next day following peter’s dream, idk what else to say, moving on.
February 25-28: Spring; another jump! i’m sorry but the only way for this to make sense logistically is for there to be quite a few time jumps! however, i also think this one works bc i think it gives time for everything from around ivy’s party and peter and jason’s break up to stew emotionally. like obviously a musical only has so much time to tell a story so the audience cannot see every realistic beat, but honestly i think it makes the whole thing a little more dramatic™ if there’s space for everything to settle, and for ivy to come and apologize and such. also, the reason it’s multiple days is bc in the script, ivy is trying to study (presumably for some sort of midterm) while nadia is playing, so that probably takes place a few days before they move out, so before finals. but in the script, jason and peter are packing and peter is leaving, so that part of the song/staging takes place on the 28th. yes, that’s weird, but we are clearly thinking more about the logistics of this school than the writers were so.
March 1: One; assuming st. cecilia’s works kinda like boarding schools here, they probably do staggered move out/move in, just bc that would be a lot to have people coming and going at once so it makes sense that peter left the day before, while jason and ivy are leaving the next day. also, given that peter is trying to call jason while he and ivy are banging, it’s probably been a hot minute since the actual break up, since peter was clearly very hurt by the whole thing, it would make sense (at least to me) that peter would reach out a month ish later, rather than like a few days later (you have to make so many assumptions to make this timeline work granted they aren’t super out there assumptions but still this is annoying)
March 1-25: Spring Break. the coworkers I have who are in boarding school work over their school breaks, which are longer than the public school breaks (which are only a week) so i put their spring break at 3 weeks. it makes sense, and it makes the later part of the timeline make sense.
I know i’m already halfway through this, but to me it makes sense for their to be quite a few time jumps in the story bc its a musical. they cannot show every day. there are a lot of other shows (particularly shows set in high schools) that are set over a whole school year, but if you just look at the events of the story that doesn’t make sense, so you have to imply that obviously they are not showing every little detail. moving on.
March 25: Wedding Bells, In The Hallway, Touch My Soul; peter wakes up from his nightmare in the church, so im assuming he fell asleep in church (like he almost did during epiphany). also it makes sense that class ranks are announced in late march-early april, I know my school announced ours in like, the first week or so of april? so yeah. moving on.
(from this point on i was giving myself a headache trying to make it make sense so its all weird from here!!)
April 4: See Me, Warning; the date doesn’t really matter here, I picked a random day in early april. the script said peter is calling from him and jason’s old dorm room, as he was picking up the last of his things, so he clearly made the roommate switch after school started (makes sense to me).
April 15-20 (approximately): Ivy finds out she’s pregnant. look google tells me on average people find out they are pregnant around 5-7 weeks after conception. i went with around 7 just so this timeline makes a tiny bit more sense given the later stuff, so yeah here we go.
May 4: Pilgrim’s Hands, God Don’t Make No Trash, All Grown Up, Promise, Once Upon A Time, Cross; a rough night for our heroes. so given sister chantelle saying “again? wonderful.” and nadia saying “i can’t believe you missed rehearsal again”, clearly ivy has been missing quite a few rehearsals, so for dramas sake maybe from when she found out she was pregnant? also i know i’ve been saying they wouldn’t have rehearsals on weekends, and given my weird timeline this would be a saturday, but its tech week so i’ll allow it.
May 5: Two Households, Bare, Queen Mab, A Glooming Peace; pretty self explanatory, and it makes sense to have the spring play in early may. rip jason.
May 11: Absolution; the day before graduation peter goes to confront the priest. gives him a small amount of time to start processing, and it makes sense it would be the night before, at least to me.
May 12: No Voice; i fucking hate this. “peter, we graduate next sunday” i hate that stupid fucking line. do you know that this timeline literally would be fine if it weren’t for that stupid fucking line? bc then, the school play would be in early may and graduation could be in late may-early june (when most high schools hold graduation) but no. keeping with continuity, they have to graduate the sunday following the school play. “peter we graduate in a month, are you really never gonna talk to me again?” would have been fine. but no, now we have beef. literally everything else about the end of this timeline being kinda weird would work itself out, except for the fucking graduation. god damn. anyway, may 12th, the graduate on may 12th which is really fucking weird bc of that one fucking line. whatever. i didn’t write the damn thing bc if i did i wouldn’t have written that fucking line. (i’ve been at this for over an hour and a half, so i’m a tad annoyed, can you tell?)
anyway, that’s it. that’s my long as hell proposed bare timeline. if there’s anything glaringly wrong with it i don’t care bc this timeline literally cannot make sense. but honestly, now that i think about the Popular Tween High Schooler Musicals (heathers, bmc, deh) the timelines of those (especially heathers and bmc) don’t make tons of sense either. that’s just the way it is, that’s the way its gonna be. and we have to live with it.
this post is so long it is actually slowing down my laptop as i type it

A prompt, if it sparks anything: “This is not a love story, but love is in it. That is, love is just outside it, looking for a way to break in.”
“So, do you want to talk about what’s wrong, or should I just show up with a six-pack after our shift is over?”  Buck asks quietly, knocking his shoulder into Eddie’s.
“You’ve been on since last night,” Eddie deflects.  “The only thing you’re doing when our shift is over is going home and going to bed.”
It’s not that he doesn’t want to talk, really—he’s gotten a lot better at it in the years since Shannon and the tsunami, since he started to feel more settled in LA, with the 118, since he started going to therapy and learned how to trust the people around him with the personal things—it’s just that his head is a bit of a mess and he’s not sure he’s sorted through enough of it to get anywhere.
“I’ll bring one over Friday then, when we’re both off,” Buck replies.  “I’m sure Chris has a movie picked out already—what?”
Eddie shakes his head.  “He’s going to Kevin’s house for a sleepover.  For Kevin’s birthday and to celebrate the end of the first week of eighth grade.  I guess they’re busy with family things on Saturday and what was I going to say?  No, it’s movie night?”
“We can have movie night on Saturday,” Chris had said when he first asked, as if movie night hasn’t become a tradition that happens every Friday that Eddie and Buck both have off.  But Eddie recognizes it’s hardly fair to expect their traditions to stay the same—Chris is almost a teenager, almost in high school, it makes sense that he wants to make plans with his friends instead of spending that time with his dad and his dad’s best friend—it’s just that—well.
Everything’s changing.  And Eddie knows, god does he know, that he can’t force his kid to stay a kid forever, that Christopher has to grow up and make mistakes and have all kinds of life experiences, both good and bad, and Eddie needs to let him have those things.  But there’s an ache in his chest when he thinks about it, when he wonders what tomorrow will be if today is changing movie night, and he honestly doesn’t know what to do with the idea that after so many years of putting everything into being a dad, one day he’s going to wake up and Christopher isn’t going to need him anymore.
Eddie sighs and rubs the back of his neck.  “At least he let me take a first day of school picture this morning,” he says.  “Don’t know how much longer he’ll put up with those.”
“Well, hey—”  Buck catches Eddie’s wrist and squeezes gently before releasing it.  “—I can come over on Friday anyway.  We could stay in, order pizza, watch something without a Disney label that Chris would hate?  Or we could go out somewhere—you know there’s that new Thai place downtown that I’ve been wanting to try.”
“The fancy one?”  Eddie thinks back, trying to recall when Buck first mentioned it.  “That’s the kind of place for a date—you shouldn’t waste it on me.  Pizza’s fine.  You want to pick the movie?”
An odd look passes over Buck’s face, but it’s gone so quickly that Eddie thinks he might imagine it.
“Sure,” Buck replies.  “Sounds good.”
Later that night, after Eddie has been thoroughly filled in about the details of  Christopher’s last first day of middle school, he stares up at the ceiling while lying in bed.  And he thinks about Christopher getting older and the five more years they have left before his son will go to college and leave him in an empty house.  And he thinks about Buck and the look on his face when Eddie said you shouldn’t waste it on me—
Before he can spiral down a rabbit hole about either of those things, Eddie rolls over and turns out the light.
***
The thing is, Buck knows he’s in love with Eddie.  He’s known for years, is pretty sure it started sometime around their first shift and quietly grew the whole time—through Shannon and Ali and the tsunami and the lawsuit and Eddie almost dying in a well—until one day after he finally got closure with Abby, he looked up and realized it was just…there.  And now it’s been years and he…lives with it.
He’s Eddie’s best friend.  He’s one of several emergency contacts for Christopher.  He shows up to every science fair and school play and he and Eddie both help Christopher with homework because Buck’s over at their place more than he is at his own and it’s—it is what it is.
He dates sometimes.  Infrequently.
It’s not that he doesn’t want everything that comes with a romantic relationship, it’s just that most of those things, he gets from Eddie, and for those he can’t—
It doesn’t seem fair, is the problem, the reason why he always ends up ending things before they can get serious.  As far as he’s concerned, Eddie and Christopher are his family.  Even setting aside his feelings for Eddie, he loves Chris like his own son and that’s—that’s not something that’s easy to explain to a new partner, nor is it an easy dynamic for someone else to fit into.  And Buck knows Eddie has had similar problems—he’s dated as well, a few scattered weeks here and there, and then one woman who lasted all of three months before Eddie ended things for reasons he wouldn’t explain.  Eddie never introduced her to Chris.  Buck has always tried not to think about that too hard.
Buck thinks sometimes that he should just bite the bullet and ask Eddie out properly, thinks sometimes that Eddie might feel the same.  There have been nights over the years, random scattered moments in the late hours where a glance or stray touch could have turned into more if one or the other of them had merely been brave enough to close the distance.  But the rest of the time—the rest of the time, the risk, no matter how small, of losing what they have now is enough to make Buck bite his tongue.
What they have—it works for them.  It works for Buck.  What is he missing really—sex?  That doesn’t matter so much.  He has friendship, trust, love.  Family.  The rest—he can live without the rest most of the time.
But life has always had a way of catching up to him.
It’s just before Halloween and Buck is over at Eddie’s.  Eddie’s phone rings just as he’s about to tuck Christopher into bed, and with a glance Buck takes over. He ruffles Christopher’s hair, kisses his forehead, reaches over to turn out the light—
“Buck?”
Buck pulls his hand back and looks back to where Chris has the covers pulled up to his chin.
“Yeah, buddy?”
“Are you ever going to ask out my dad?”
Buck nearly swallows his tongue.
“I—what?”
Chris shrugs.  “You love him, right?”
Part of Buck wants to deny it, or ask how Christopher would know—but then, he supposes he hasn’t been exactly subtle.  And he doesn’t lie to Christopher.
“Yeah.  Yeah, buddy, I do.”
“So then…are you?  Going to ask him out?”
Buck swipes a hand over his face.  “I—I don’t know.  You think I should?”
Christopher bites his lip.  “I think—I think he’s lonely,” he admits.  “He tries to hide it, but I think he has been for awhile.  But he’s happy when he’s with you.  He looks at you when he thinks you can’t see.  And—”
He looks away.
“And what?”  Buck asks.
“And then you could always be here.”
“Oh, bud.”  Buck sighs and hugs Christopher tight.  “I’ll be here anyway.”
“Yeah, but—then you could be happier too.”
Buck glances at the open door, his heart twisting in his chest.  “I—I’ll think about it.  I promise.”
“Think about what?”  Eddie asks, walking back in as he slides his phone back into his pocket.
Buck coughs.  “I—”  Words fail him.
“God, dad, it’s a secret,” Chris says, rolling his eyes with an affected air.  Eddie laughs and ruffles his hair as well.
“Okay,” he replies.  “Keep your secrets.  Just go to sleep, yeah?  It’s late.”
Christopher nods.  “Night, Buck,” he adds with a yawn.  “Night, dad.  Love you.”
“Love you, too.”
“So…secret, huh?”  Eddie asks quietly after they leave the room and close the door.
Buck’s cheeks flush despite himself.  “For now.  I—I’ll tell you, just—”
“It’s fine,” Eddie assures.  “I’m just teasing—I don’t need to know, really.”
Buck clears his throat.  “Who was on the phone?”
“Oh, Sophia.  She was asking about Thanksgiving—”
Buck listens absently, nodding when appropriate, but distracted by the curve of Eddie’s mouth, the hint of scruff along his jaw, and Christopher’s voice in his head saying he looks at you when he thinks you can’t see.
“—Buck?  You okay?”
He snaps out of it when he realizes Eddie’s no longer talking and is instead looking at him in concern.
“Sorry,” Buck says.  “Just tired.  I should probably…head home.”  Before I do something like kiss you because it’s apparently so obvious that I want to that even your kid can tell.
The concern clears from Eddie’s face.  “Okay. Well…see you at work then?”
“Yeah.  Yeah, of course.”
Coward, he thinks to himself as he retreats to his car to drive home.
But…maybe one day he won’t be.
***
Not that there’s much of a noticeable difference given that it’s Los Angeles, but summer turns to fall turns to winter, and with it the holiday season and the halfway point of Christopher’s last year in middle school.  There’s the faintest chill in the air when Eddie pulls into the parking lot in late November to pick Christopher up after school, only to see his son not waiting as usual, but lingering by the gates talking to a girl with dark hair pulled back into the sort of complicated French braids that make Eddie glad he didn’t have a daughter.  Eddie pulls out his phone to text Chris that he’s arrived—rolling down the window and calling his name to announce himself seems like the kind of thing likely to get him a huff and an eye roll, even if they are running late for a physical therapy appointment—but just as he does, the girl takes a step closer and says something that makes Christopher blush furiously and glance at the ground before looking back at her with a small smile and responding.  Whatever he says makes her grin widely—Eddie’s eyebrows shoot up nearly to his hairline when she leans in quickly and kisses Christopher’s cheek before rocking back on her heels and then running off.
Instead of texting Chris, Eddie opens a new message to Buck as he tries to shove down the impending urge to panic at the thought of his kid being old enough for this.
I think Chris has a girlfriend, he texts Buck, ducking his head when his son glances toward the parking lot so it doesn’t look like he’s staring. Is he even old enough for that? Do eighth graders have girlfriends? This feels soon, thought I’d have until high school at least.
Calm down, Buck replies, and it makes Eddie almost laugh because given how Buck reacted to Christopher going to summer camp the first time, he doesn’t have a leg to stand on, but before Eddie can point that out, another message comes in. You raised an amazing kid, I bet at least five different people in his class have a crush on him. It’s probably harmless at this age anyway—holding hands on the playground at recess, that kind of thing. And Chris is smart and responsible, I’m sure he’s fine.
I might not be fine though, Eddie thinks.
He thought he had more time, is all.  More time to prepare for Chris to start growing like a weed and eating everything in sight, more time to prepare for girls and dating and The Talk and the inevitable heartbreak of being a teenager.  He wishes he could protect his son from all the bad parts—kids being mean and the crushes that go unreturned, the relationships that just don’t work out no matter how much it seems for a dizzying week or two that you’ll never want anyone else, the school assignments that don’t come as easy as others, and everything else—to wrap him in bubble wrap and hug him tight and never let go.
But.  It’s like the skateboard.
Kids grow up.  They do things they want to do, take risks with their hearts, with themselves. And unlike the skateboard, not everything that Christopher is going to want to do falls into the category of let’s try it together first.
Eddie’s so lost in thought that he doesn’t notice that Chris has made his way over to the truck until he hears the sound of the door handle clicking and is abruptly forced back to reality, moving to unlock the door.
“Hey—good day?”  He asks, trying not to immediately blurt out the question on the tip of his tongue which is, so who is the girl.
Christopher glances over while reaching for his seatbelt and makes a face.  “Why do you look so weird?”
And somehow, that more than anything loosens the knot of tension in Eddie’s chest and makes him laugh.  Because that’s his kid—perceptive, a little sassy, and eternally calling him on it when he’s being ridiculous.
“That’s just my face,” Eddie replies.  He makes it as far as the street before he says, “So…should I ask who the girl you were talking to back there was, or be a cool dad and pretend I saw nothing?”
“You’ve never been cool though,” Chris says before blushing again and going very quiet, biting his lip as he picks at a stray thread on the hem of his sweater.  He’s quiet for so long, in fact, that Eddie’s about to reassure him that he really doesn’t have to talk about it when Chris fidgets in his seat and exhales.
“Her name’s Marisol,” he admits, cheeks still red.  “She’s in my reading group and my science class.  And she’s really smart and pretty and popular and um—she asked me to the dance that’s happening right before winter break?  And I think I said yes?”
“You think you said yes?” Eddie can’t resist teasing just a little.  “Wouldn’t you know if you did?”
“Dad.”  Christopher puts his head in his hands and Eddie takes one hand off the steering wheel in order to squeeze his shoulder.
“Okay, okay, I’m done, I promise,” Eddie says.  “But that’s exciting, bud.  I didn’t realize you had a dance coming up.”
“I didn’t know if I wanted to go,” Chris admits.  “So I didn’t say.  But I do now.”
There’s a lot that could be unpacked there, but Eddie knows he’s coming up to the limit of what he can push about, so he lets it go.
“Sounds fun,” he replies.  “So, other than getting asked on a date—what else did you do at school today?”
He listens to Chris chatter on about learning how to use chemicals to make fire change colors in science class—“Like fireworks, dad!”—and how he got to read a part out loud in class for the play they’re studying in English and Eddie relaxes even more.
“Hey, dad?”  Christopher asks that night, pausing in the doorway to his room as he makes his way to bed.
“Yeah?”
“Do you think we could go to the planetarium this weekend?  Just the two of us?”
Eddie blinks in surprise, thrown a little the way he always is lately whenever Christopher specifically brings up some kind of father-son time, and yet fiercely grateful as well to know he hasn’t lost that either.
“Sure,” he replies.  “That sounds great.”
Chris smiles.  “K.  Night, dad.  Love you.”
“Love you, kid.”
His phone rings around 11 after Christopher is asleep.  Buck.
“So.  Girlfriend, huh?”  Buck says.
Eddie huffs a laugh and stretches out on his bed.  “Not quite, apparently.  Crush.  First date.  There’s a school dance, she asked him out.  He’s been blushing and smiling all afternoon.”
“Cute.”  There’s a brief pause on the other side of the line and then—  “Guess he really is growing up, huh?”
“Guess he is.”  Eddie stares up at the ceiling, his thoughts scattered and swirling.  But what he lands on is—  “You know, I feel like I was barely more than a kid myself when he was born.  And then there was the army and then I came back and just—I put everything into being his dad, that was all that mattered.  But now he’s growing up and he needs different things and I worry that I’m not…qualified?  To help him figure out what he wants in life because I never really figured that out myself.”
“You’re in your thirties, Eddie, not on your deathbed,” Buck teases quietly.  “You’ve still got time.”
Eddie swallows.  “I know, but—”
“But?”
“He was so happy today.  Because his crush asked him out and kissed him on the cheek.  He wasn’t overthinking it or telling himself it wasn’t what he thought or that he wasn’t good enough.  He was just…happy.”
Buck’s quiet for a long time.  “Well…it’s easier for him,” he says finally.  “He’s still a kid.  There isn’t any baggage attached to those things.  Feelings.  Relationships.  He hasn’t learned to be scared yet.”
“I’m not scared,” Eddie insists on instinct, but even as he says it he knows it isn’t true.
If he wasn’t scared, he would have asked Buck out years ago.  Would have kissed him on any of the many occasions where the lingering tension between them pulled taught or burned under his skin.  Would have asked Buck if he means the casual flirting and lingering touches and the dates that only aren’t dates because they don’t call them that.  Would have asked if he wants—
“I am,” Buck replies.
“What?”
“Scared.  Of putting myself out there again.  Of getting hurt.  Of…hell, of being happy maybe.  Or…happier.  Of asking for more if it might risk losing what I have now.”
Eddie’s breath catches.  Because that’s—that sounds an awful lot like—
He’s tried so hard not to want, not to hope, not to even think about it, about the possibility of them, even though that’s a wholly impossible endeavor.  But, he can’t think of anything else in Buck’s life that he might—that he would say—
“You wouldn’t,” he says before he can stop himself.  “Lose it.”  Lose me.  Lose us.
Buck hums.  “No?”
“No.”  Eddie’s chest hurts.  He feels like he’s barely breathing.
“You know, it’s a little funny—you’re not the only one to say that to me recently.”
“Oh?  Who else did?”
“Christopher,” Buck admits.  “Not quite in those words, but that was the gist.”
“Buck…”  Eddie trails off, too many words, and yet not enough, stuck in his throat.
“So, when’s this dance?”
Thrown again, Eddie tries to remember.  “Uh…the 12th, I think.”
“And they’ll probably need chaperones, right?”
“Probably.”
“Well…”  Buck laughs.  “Hey, Eddie, do you want to go to the dance with me?”
Eddie bites his lip against a grin.  He feels a little like a teenager again himself, heat rising in his cheeks, his pulse racing—
“No,” he says, because he can’t let Buck have all the fun.
“No?”
“Christopher would kill me if I crashed his first date to chaperone,” Eddie explains.  “Dinner though…dinner would be nice.”
“Dinner…I think I can manage that.”  Silence falls.  But it’s not unpleasant.  Not due to a lack of things to say, but rather too many.  A silence of possibility rather than doubt.
“You should get some sleep,” Buck says finally.
“Maybe,” Eddie acknowledges.  But he doesn’t want to hang up without—  “Buck, I—”  The words don’t quite come.
Buck seems to hear them anyway though.  “Yeah.  Me too.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Goodnight, Buck.”
“Goodnight.”
***
Two weeks later, Buck knocks on the door of Eddie’s house only to be beckoned in with a call of, “It’s open!”
He finds his two favorite boys in Christopher’s room, having a spirited discussion over Christopher’s fashion choices.
“I’m not wearing a tie.  God, dad, ties are for losers,” Chris complains.
“It’s a date, Chris, don’t you want to look your best?”
“I look fine without it.”
Both of them look over when Buck raps his knuckles on the door frame.
“See?  Buck’s not wearing a tie,” Chris points out.
Buck bites back a grin.  “Well, I heard ties are for losers, so—”
Eddie mutters something Buck doesn’t catch under his breath, but he’s fighting a grin so Buck takes it as a win anyway.
“Have it your way, then,” Eddie concedes.  “Do I at least get a picture?”
“You can have three,” Christopher allows.
“Oh, well, in that case—”
After another fifteen minutes, Marisol’s mother picks Christopher up, the door closes behind them, and Eddie looks over at Buck again, the two of them finally alone.
“Hi.”
Buck snags Eddie’s wrist and tugs him in close just because he can.  “Hi.  I suppose we should probably head out ourselves if we want to make our reservation.”
“In a minute,” Eddie says.  “There’s something I’ve been waiting to do for awhile.”
“Oh?  What’s that?”
“This.”
Eddie’s lips are softer than Buck expects them to be.
They miss their reservation.
And Buck stays.

Season 1, Episode 10: Co-Captain
Hey there beautiful reader! If you’re new here, this is a series I’m writing where each chapter is an episode from the first season of Teen Wolf. If you’ve been here before, hey! I missed you! Previous and future chapters are linked at the end of each part if you want to catch up.
Pairing: Stiles x Psychic! Reader (eventually)
Notes: I somehow forgot that Deaton existed until I wrote this. My bad guys, but he’s not really that relevant in the first season anyway so...
P.S. Kate needs a therapist, Sheriff Stilinski is kinda bad at his job, and so many people almost die. Seriously, it’s getting ridiculous at this point.

                                                    ————————
Lydia huffed in annoyance, struggling to keep up behind me in her high heeled boots. The ground crunched with each quick step I took, the dirt barely visible through a thick layer of dried leaves. I pulled the sides of my jacket tighter around my sides, feeling a chill run up my spine as a gust of cold air blew against me.
“Allison. When you said you needed to run an errand before we went shopping, a five mile hike in the woods was not what I was expecting.” Lydia had been complaining nonstop since we got here, and didn’t seem likely to give up anytime soon.
We’d been walking through Beacon Hills Preserve for at least ten minutes by now, Allison leading us with a big bag slung over her shoulder. She seemed aggravated, practically running with a tense look on her face. I had no idea what the hell we were doing. She’d been acting weird all week, more angry and on edge than usual.
We were supposed to be shopping for winter formal dresses at the mall. Lydia had been begging us to go all week, since the dance is next Friday. I kept dodging her invitation because there were just so many other things going on right now.
Me and the guys had spent the week trying to figure out where Peter’s been hiding, while keeping Jackson from spilling the werewolf beans to the whole school every time he got pissy.
I wasn’t sure who either of them were taking to the dance, and I honestly didn’t care much. I wasn’t planning on going. No one had asked me, and stuff like that wasn’t really my thing anyway. I definitely wasn’t annoyed that a certain spastic boy hadn’t even mentioned it yet. Not at all.
“Before I forget, I wanted to ask if you’re okay with something.” Allison quipped, not even bothering to turn around and look at us. “Jackson asked me to winter formal.”
My eyes widened and swept toward Lydia quickly to see her reaction. I wasn’t expecting that, even though the two of them had been incredibly flirty lately. It was obvious that Allison still had feelings for Scott, and Lydia for Jackson, so the whole thing was just a big mess.
“Did he?” She tried to sound unaffected as she nearly stumbled over a rock. My arm instinctively stuck out to steady her, and she sent me a small, grateful smile.
“Just as friends, but I wanted to make sure you were okay with it first.”
Lydia pursed her glossed lips tightly and flicked a lock of hair away from her eyes. Her gloved hands tightened into fists at her sides. “Sure. As long as it’s just friends.”
Allison scoffed quietly, seemingly annoyed. I quirked a brow at her back in curiosity. Yeah, she and Lydia had a bit of a love hate relationship, but stealing her boyfriend was a little over the top. Something was clearly bothering her. I’d been trying to figure it out for days, but she never wanted to talk about it when I asked.
She stopped suddenly, and I nearly toppled over as I narrowly avoided running into her. Her bag dropped onto the leaf covered ground with a thud before she knelt down to unzip it. Lydia and I both watched in curious silence as she pulled out a huge bow and inspected it carefully.
It looked like something a professional would own. I’d nearly forgotten that she was into archery as a kid, but that thing was intense. Plus, why she felt the need to do this right now, on a Saturday afternoon while we were supposed to be shopping, I had no idea. She popped back to her feet quickly and screwed a big cylindrical arrowhead onto her arrow.
“What does that do?” Lydia shivered beside me and crossed her arms tightly as another gust of wind blew past us.
“We’re about to find out.” Allison muttered, more to herself than us, as she strung the bow.
She turned her back to us and raised her arms up beside her head. I watched closely as she narrowed her eyes and scanned the area for a good target. After a moment of wobbling, she let out a breath and squared her shoulders. Then, she let go.
The arrow whizzed through the air with a zip before landing in a tree a few yards away, immediately exploding with a bright waterfall of sparks.
I jumped back, not expecting that at all. “What the hell was that?”
That was not an ordinary arrow. I wondered for a moment how she even got it. It was most likely her dad’s, so she either stole it or knew way more about her family than she was letting on.
She dropped her arms with a jerk and whipped around to face us, her eyes glassy. Their hard edge had disappeared entirely, replaced now with something close to fear. “I need to tell you guys something. It’s going to sound really ridiculous and I-I don’t want you to laugh at me.”
Her sudden change in demeanor was a little jarring. It seemed like this was coming out of nowhere. I glanced at Lydia, who was doing a terrible job of hiding the fact that she thought she was completely crazy.
“We would never laugh at you.” I narrowed my eyes at Lydia, silently pleading with her to be nice. She just pouted and looked at Allison expectantly.
“It’s about my family.” Allison let out a heavy breath and wiped at her eyes. “Awhile ago, I caught them in a lie. A little one. But now, I’ve been overhearing some really strange conversations. I think...I think some of it has to do with Derek.”
“Derek?” I sputtered, my breath catching in my throat at his name. I’d learned earlier this week that he was, in fact, alive after our encounter with Peter. They’d both shown up at school a few days ago to intimidate Scott into joining their pack, which was honestly so much worse.
I let out a sigh and cleared my throat. “I mean, are you sure?”
She nodded, glancing around the trees as if he could be spying on us right now. “Yeah. I don’t think he is who he—”
She suddenly stopped, her whole body stiffening as something rustled in the leaves nearby. I watched her closely as she looked from side to side, wondering if something happened that she wasn’t telling me about. She was acting so jumpy and weird.
“Hold this.” She absentmindedly handed her bow to Lydia, who balanced it on her upturned palms as if one wrong move would set it off.
“What? Why?” Her emerald eyes widened in horror.
“Because I thought I heard something.” Allison whispered harshly, as if that would help the situation at all.
She turned her back to us and took a few timid steps forward.
“Allison,” I sighed, moving toward her. It was probably nothing. And if it wasn’t, she shouldn’t be the one going to investigate. “I’m sure it—”
She turned around just long enough to shush me before continuing on her way. I paused, my lips parting in surprise. Did she really just do that?
I stood in place, my eyes firmly planted on her back until she turned a corner, disappearing among the trees. I was ridiculously confused by her sudden personality change. Up until this week, she’d been terrified of anything even remotely out of the ordinary. Especially after we spent that night in the school.
“She’s being weird. Right?” Lydia breathed from beside me, still standing completely still and holding the bow gingerly.
I nodded, eyes narrowing in the direction she’d gone. I guess there was a chance the noise was something supernatural, but we were in the woods. It could’ve been anything and was most likely harmless. Still, part of me wanted to go after her and make sure she was okay.
“Very.” I moved to walk away, but stopped when Lydia’s panicked voice sounded from behind me.
“Um, absolutely not. You are not leaving me alone with this thing.” Her wide eyes glanced down at the bow apprehensively.
“Oh, for God’s sake...” I stepped toward her, quickly plucking it from her hands, and she visibly relaxed with a heavy sigh.
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes as I dropped it on top of Allison’s bag. She was always so dramatic. I motioned for her to follow me and continued forward. Allison couldn’t have gotten far yet, so I figured we’d find her pretty quickly.
I rounded a corner and immediately staggered to a stop as my eyes landed on Allison only a few feet away. She was crouched on the ground hugging Scott, who looked like he’d just fallen or something. His eyes found mine and immediately widened as he shook his head frantically with a wave of his hand.
I whirled around and nearly ran right into Lydia. Her eyes narrowed into a glare as I grabbed her biceps and jerked her the other way. I had no idea what he was even doing here, but I didn’t want to ruin their moment. He’d been trying to get back on her good side, and apparently it was working if what I just saw was any indication.
“Y/N, what the hell is wrong with you?” Lydia snapped, turning her head to try and see what I was taking us away from.
“Uh. It was a...wolf.” I cringed at my pathetic attempt at lying. I’d always been complete shit at it.
She gave up on tying to see what it was and let me continue pushing her forward, but still glanced at me as if I’d lost my mind. “There haven’t been wolves in Beacon Hills in—”
“Sixty years. I know.” I let out a huff as we made it back to Allison’s bag, and finally released her.
If only she knew how wrong she was.
                                                  —————————
I crossed my arms over my chest impatiently, watching as Stiles fumbled with his house key for several seconds before finally managing to push it into the doorknob. He was always such a spaz, no matter what he was doing.
We didn’t have much time, but in my experience, Stiles and rushing don’t mix well. We were only stopping here so that he could grab his laptop before we met up with Scott at his house. The three of us were trying our hardest to find a pattern in the people Peter was trying to turn, so that we could hopefully stop him before he kills anyone else.
“Why would Jackson want to be a werewolf?” I asked slowly, not fully believing what he'd just told me.
He turned around long enough to twitch his eyes at me incredulously before facing the door again. “Because it’s Jackson.”
I mean, fair enough.
I’d been delivering dinner for mom at the hospital when Scott texted us that he wanted to meet up. Stiles came to get me, since she would need the car to get home in the morning. On the way here, he’d filled me in on his and Scott’s afternoon.
The three of us had a new policy: no more secrets, and no more lies.
They decided to follow Jackson after school because they still don’t trust him and also, they’re nosy as hell. Apparently, he didn’t make it far before being cornered by Mr. Argent, so it was a good thing they have no concept of healthy boundaries. The fact that they saved his ass didn’t stop him from threatening to out Scott—again—if he doesn’t give him what he wants.
Stiles also casually mentioned that the Argents are actively trying to kill the alpha and his beta, who they think could be Scott, Jackson, or Derek.
Things were a shitshow, basically.
Stiles popped his front door open and I trailed in behind him. My eyes immediately landed on his dad, who was sitting at their dining room table surrounded by various documents. Stiles perked up at the sight and practically ran to his side.
“Whatcha doin’?” He sang, peering down at the mountain of papers.
“Work.” Mr. Stilinski muttered curtly, his brows furrowing as he scribbled something down onto a notepad.
“Anything I can help with?” Stiles’ voice rose eagerly as his eyes continued flickering around the table.
His dad let out a long sigh and rubbed a hand across his forehead. It looked like he hadn’t gotten a good nights sleep in days. “You know, if you poured me an ounce of whiskey, that’d be awful nice.”
Stiles jerked upright and nearly bolted to the kitchen. I just stood in place by the door, watching him curiously. It was like he’d completely forgotten that we were supposed to be doing something. He had a tendency to be forgetful, especially when stressed. I’d say he was pretty wired lately, since he could barely go a minute without worrying about Scott and all his werewolf issues.
He reappeared in the doorway a few seconds later, the bottle of alcohol and a shot glass in hand, and quickly pulled out a chair next to his dad. I decided to join them because I was honestly really curious about what he was working on. Plus, getting Stiles back on track usually took a lot more effort than I was willing to give right now.
“Any leads?” He put the stuff onto the table and picked up the closest paper to him.
“Hey.” Mr. Stilinski swatted his hand away before wagging a pencil disapprovingly. Stiles cried out dramatically and rubbed at his fingers. “You know I can’t discuss that with you.”
“What about with me?” I slid into a free chair on the other side of the table, my lips pulling up into a teasing smile. It instantly dropped at the unamused stare he gave me.
Okay. Do not joke with a tired Sheriff. Got it.
I cleared my throat and glanced at Stiles for help, only to find that he was already looking at me, an amused smile twitching at the edges of his lips. He was trying to be discreet about it, so his dad wouldn’t see, and it was ridiculously adorable.
He sagged back into his chair with a sigh. “Son, the last thing I need right now is you and your girlfriend shoving your noses into my classified investigation, so if you could just—”
My heart nearly stopped beating in my chest at his words. I looked at Stiles with wide eyes, but he was too busy sputtering silently toward his dad to notice. “Uh, we aren’t—”
We still hadn’t talked about that. Sure, we’ve kissed a few times, but we haven’t gone on a proper date or anything yet, and he didn’t even ask me to the dance. As far as I was concerned, we were...friends? That sometimes kiss?
“Yeah. No. We-we haven’t...” He rushed the words out as he finally remembered how to talk, his cheeks turning bright pink.
“Look. I don’t care.” His dad sighed before sliding his glasses off and massaging his temples. “Just please go do...anything else.”
“Alright. Fine.” Stiles started pouring a shot of the whiskey, his eyes widening after a moment as if an idea dawned on him. He kept going until the glass was almost full before sliding it across the table. “Bottoms up.”
He got up just as quickly as he’d sat down, striding around the table to take my hand in his. I nearly tripped over my own feet as he pulled me out of my chair and up the stairs quickly. He shoved his bedroom door open before practically throwing me inside and slamming it behind us.
I just stared at him with wide eyes as he leaned back against it with a sigh.
“I didn’t want him to notice what I did.” He glanced at me fleetingly before pushing himself off the door and walking briskly toward his desk.
I swear, he never slows down.
“Which is...?” I drawled, turning around to watch him dig through each of the wooden drawers.
He tongue swept across his bottom lip in concentration. My eyes followed the movement, my own lip rolling between my teeth. I was always surprised that he could manage to make even the smallest things attractive. “I’m gonna get him drunk. He talks a lot when he’s drunk.”
“So that’s how you know so much about police stuff.” I wandered over to his bed and plopped down, figuring I might as well get comfortable if we were going to be in here for awhile.
He stopped rummaging through his stuff to frown at me. “You say that like it’s a bad thing.”
“Manipulating a Sheriff into giving you classified information? That one’s not exactly north on the moral compass.” I dragged my toes along the hardwood floors and leaned back on my palms.
He rolled his eyes and turned back to the desk, searching for another few seconds before letting out a frustrated huff. He practically slammed the last drawer closed. One of his hands came up to scratch at the side of his head as he turned and let his eyes flicker around the room.
“Where the hell did I leave that thing?” He muttered, more to himself than me.
He suddenly perked up, as if remembering something, and took a few big steps toward the bed. He bent down in front of me and started moving his blankets around. I leaned to the side in an effort to give him more room, since it seemed like he somehow forgot I was sitting right here. My eyes flickered over his face, which was only a few inches away from mine.
The window beside his bed let in just enough light to perfectly illuminate his freckled skin. It reflected off of his eyes, making them look like molten amber. His nose was scrunched adorably in concentration as he weaved around me to look for the laptop. He suddenly stopped fidgeting and moved back slightly.
“Ah ha! Got ya, you little...” He trailed off as his eyes met mine. He froze, as if only just then realizing how close we were.
I stole a glance at his lips before deciding to close the distance between us. It was hard to think about anything else but kissing him when he was this close. My hands moved up to the sides of his face and I tugged him those last few inches closer. When my lips slanted over his, he stiffened against me, as if caught off guard. The contact only lasted a few seconds before he pulled back with with shaky breath.
I took one look at his stunned expression and erupted into a fit of giggles.
“What?” He frowned and moved away, his eyes searching mine.
“Why do you always kiss me like you think I’m going to punch you in the face right after?” I chuckled and let my hands drop back down to my lap.
It looked like he was about to argue as his mouth opened and closed a few times. He eventually just dragged his tongue against the inside of his cheek and sighed in defeat. “I just—uh. I want you to be comfortable, and I don’t want you to think that I want you to do something that you don’t want to do.”
My brows furrowed as I tried to figure out what the hell he just said.
“I’m gonna go check on my dad.” He jerked up to his full height and rubbed at the back of his neck before practically running out the door.
I watched it bounce off the wall from the force he’d used to open it, and shook my head in amusement. I wasn’t sure how he still managed to be such a spaz around me after all this time, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t endearing as hell. After a few seconds, I wandered out of his room and down the stairs to join him.
“You know, Derek Hale would be a hale—” My eyes landed on Mr. Stilinski, still sitting in the same position we’d left him in, as he stopped slurring for a moment to chuckle at his own slip up. “A hell of a lot easier to catch if we could get an actual picture of him.”
Stiles was sitting in the spot beside him again, already nose deep in some document. I padded over to the table and slid into the empty chair on the other side of the table. I finally processed his words and looked at him in question. They didn’t have a single picture of Derek? He’d been arrested at least two separate times now. How was that possible?
“How do you not have a picture of him?” Stiles’ eyebrows pinched as he voiced my thoughts perfectly.
His dad peeled a small piece of paper off the table and studied it as if it held a code he had yet to decipher. “It’s the weirdest thing. It’s like, every time I try to get a mugshot, there’s like two laser beams pointing at the camera...”
Stiles ripped the picture out of his hands and inspected it closely. I leaned over the table to get a look, my eyes widening at what I saw. It was definitely Derek, but only a fraction of his face was visible through the two bright circles that took up most of the shot.
“Nice.” I breathed before sitting back down, honestly impressed. That was a pretty cool trick and could probably come in handy later on.
“Oh my God.” Mr. Stilinski groaned and slid his glasses off before leaning back in his chair and rubbing his hands down his face. “That ounce hit me like a brick. I’ve said way too much, and if you repeat any of this...”
“Dad. It’s me. I’m not gonna say anything. Come on.” Stiles scoffed and put the picture down, as if his dad questioning him at all was offensive.
The Sheriff’s eyes swept toward me and I swallowed, feeling nervous under his intense gaze. It was like he couldn’t turn off the whole cop thing. Or maybe he just really didn’t like me. I looked away from him and picked up a nearby file to distract myself.
“And Y/N, she’s ya know, trustworthy...too.” A frown pulled at my lips. That stuttering mess made me sound anything but. How did he still manage to be awkward even in front of his own dad?
“See, the thing is, they’re all connected.” Mr. Stilinski started, that jumble of words apparently enough to convince him to continue. “The bus driver that was killed was the insurance investigator assigned to the Hale house fire.”
My eyes widened as I realized I was looking at that very man’s file. I flitted through the pages quickly, looking for anything relevant.
“Terminated under suspicion of fraud.” I read the words slowly, wondering if it had anything to do with the fire.
I glanced up toward Stiles, who fidgeted in his seat uncomfortably before moving his attention to his dad. “Alright. Who else?”
“The video store clerk who got his throat slashed? A convicted felon with a history of arson.”
“What about the other two guys? The ones in the woods?” My eyes swept back to Stiles quickly. I’d nearly forgotten about them. They were “mysteriously” killed the night Stiles took Scott into the preserve to get drunk after Allison broke up with him.
“Priors all over their records. Including—”
“Arson?” I quipped, putting the pieces together easily.
Every single murder was connected to the Hale house fire. But why?
He breathed out a heavy sigh and let the papers he was holding flutter back down to the table. “There’s just so many questions. I mean, if Derek wanted to kill everyone involved with the fire, why start with his sister? She didn’t have anything to do with it. You know, why make it look like some kind of animal did it?”
Stiles looked away from him, his jaw clenching. His eyes flickered to mine fleetingly before moving down to his fingers as he tapped them on the edge of the table, his brows furrowing.
“And, when that cougar showed up in the parking lot, I checked with animal control. Did you know that the incidents of wild animal reports are up seventy percent over the last few months? It’s like they’re just going crazy and running out of the woods.”
It was in that moment, as I saw him so confused and dejected, that a heavy wave of realization crashed down onto my shoulders. Allison wasn’t the only one being hurt by the secrets in Beacon Hills. Not even close. There were so many layers to the problems that all of this shit had created. I hadn’t even considered how it would effect people like Stiles’ dad.
But it made total sense. Of course, how would they solve any of these cases without the most important piece? He’d run himself into the ground trying to figure out the impossible. Until he knew about the supernatural aspect, he wasn’t going to make any progress. The thought made my heart twist uncomfortably in my chest.
I finally realized how much it was weighing on Stiles, too. It was clear that it pained him not to tell his dad everything. His jaw was tight as Mr. Stilinski rambled on about the unknown, his lips rolled into a thin line. He couldn’t sit still for more than a few seconds, and he kept fidgeting with his fingers.
It dawned on me then, too, that he wasn’t just complacent in all the lying like I thought this whole time. He was a caretaker. He quite literally couldn’t help but try to protect everyone around him all at once. I had a feeling that even if Scott said it was okay to tell his dad everything, he still wouldn’t.
“Or something’s scaring them out.” Stiles finally sighed, looking defeated.
Just then, both of our phones dinged with a notification. I pulled mine out of my pocket, brows furrowing at the somewhat incoherent text we’d gotten from Scott.
Mom. Date. PETER!
A second later, another message came through.
MY MOM IS ON A DATE WITH PETER. FREAKING OUT. HELP.
Holy shit. What? That is beyond bad. That’s so fucking terrible I can’t even put it into words.
My eyes jerked up when Stiles’ chair scraped against the hardwood floors loudly. He bolted to his feet and practically ran around the table, grabbing my arm in the process. He muttered something about us having to be somewhere over his shoulder, but his dad was too far gone to think twice about our quick departure anyway.
We scrambled out the door and into his Jeep, peeling out of the driveway as I recited the address and license plate Scott had sent over. Neither of us said a word as he sped to the other side of town.
After several tense minutes, I spotted the car up ahead. My eyes widened as I realized that it was parked on the side of the road. That couldn’t be good. I saw the silhouette of a man in the driver’s seat, but couldn’t find anyone else inside.
Oh, God. I hope we aren’t too late.
“There.” I said, pointing at the car. Stiles immediately veered off the road, but he wasn’t slowing down. I put my hands on the dash for support and looked over at him frantically. “Uh...Stiles?”
I lurched forward, my seatbelt digging into my shoulder as he slammed into the rear bumper of the car. My jaw dropped in shock as smoke started pouring out from under the Jeep’s hood, which was now bent.
The passenger door in front of us popped open, a very angry looking Ms. McCall tumbling out. “Oh, God! Stiles!”
Well, at least she was still alive.
“Ms. McCall?” He scrambled out of the Jeep, looking flustered despite doing that very much intentionally.
“Yes!” She threw her hands up in exasperation as she walked around to survey the damage.
“Wow. Well, this is just crazy. What a coincidence!” Stiles chuckled nervously as he met her between the cars.
I threw my door open and slid out, immediately shivering as the freezing night air wafted over my skin. My head tilted up to the sky as it started sprinkling. Great. That’s just what we need right now. I came to a stop beside Stiles, crossing my arms tightly over my chest to hold in of my warmth.
“I-I really don’t know what happened. You guys came out of nowhere.” He let out a huff and put his hands on his hips, eyes twitching as he raised his eyebrows, hoping she would buy the excuse.
“Came out of nowhere? We were parked on the side of the road, Stiles!” Yeah, she so wasn’t believing any of this for a second.
“How crazy is that?” His voice rose with panic as Peter came striding toward us, looking equally as unamused. “Man, we should probably call the cops. Do like an accident report or something?”
“I don’t think that’s necessary.” Peter drawled, shoving his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket. What was with the Hale’s and leather? Was it a fashion statement? A werewolf thing? Or did they just not own anything else?
Either way, being this close to him was making my skin crawl.
“Are you sure?” One of Stiles’ eyes squinted shut as he lifted a hand to rub at the back of his neck with a forced grimace. “I think I’m feeling a little bit of whiplash.”
“Whiplash?” It looked like Ms. McCall was going to injure him herself as her voice became sharp with frustration. “You hit us!”
Peter suddenly turned his back to us and began muttering something under his breath. I peered around Ms. McCall’s shoulder and watched as he seemingly talked to himself. My brows furrowed in confusion and I pulled my phone out of my pocket. As I suspected, there was a new text from Scott saying that he was here a few minutes ago.
I looked around, but couldn’t find him anywhere. My eyes landed on Peter again as he continued taking slow steps away from us. He was clearly talking to Scott, who would be able to hear him from a good distance away. But where was he?
“You know what, I seriously can’t do this right now.” Ms. McCall threw her hands up and walked back to the car with a huff.
Without thinking too hard about it, I started walking toward Peter. I wanted to know what he was saying, and what the hell he thought he was doing by going after Scott’s mom. If I stopped for even a second I would’ve realized how epically stupid that was, but at the current moment I was too angry to care. For some reason, putting a human face to the alpha had made him just a little less scary.
I only made it a few steps before a firm hand on my wrist stopped me. I turned to see Stiles staring at me with wide eyes. “Are you out of your freakin’ mind?”
At the touch of his skin on mine, I suddenly felt like the earth shifted beneath my feet. I staggered back a step, a gasp escaping me as a vivid image of Scott flashed in my mind. The only thing I could see was his face, scrunched into a pained grimace.
Stiles ripped his hand away and I was dropped harshly back into the present. “Whoa. What? What?”
I stumbled to the side, feeling lightheaded, and met his wide eyes. He stared at me with parted lips, his eyebrows raised in shock. The vision had come and gone too fast for me to see what was going on, but I knew it couldn’t be good as my stomach tightened uncomfortably.
“Do that again.” I rushed the words out in one breath. “Touch me again.”
He stammered silently for a few seconds, his confused eyes searching mine. I jutted my arm out toward him expectantly and he rolled his lips into a thin line, looking uneasy. After a few moments of hesitation, he slowly wrapped his hand around my wrist again.
My eyes fluttered closed as the image of Scot instantly returned. I could no longer feel the rain on my face or the chill of the night air. I was just looking down at Scott, watching as he writhed around on the leaf covered ground, a wet stain on his shirt just below his heart slowly expanding.
A thick liquid stained his lips and chin. It looked like blood, but was almost black. He took in a hoarse breath, his chest heaving from the effort.
Suddenly, my eyes snapped open with a jolt. I nearly toppled over as my legs gave out under me. Stiles wrapped his hands around my biceps and studied with me a hard look. I blinked at him a few times, trying to get my eyes to refocus.
“I’m sorry, but I had to stop. It looked like you were in pain. What the hell was that?” His voice was tight with concern as his eyes flickered around my face.
I rubbed a hand against my chest in an effort to steady my breathing. My head pounded harshly as I looked around, trying to convince myself that I was actually back in the present.
“We need to go. Right now.” I made a move toward the Jeep, but Stiles stood firmly in place, stopping me easily.
He gave me a hard look and shook me slightly as he spoke. “Okay. You’re really starting to freak me out. What’s going on right now?”
“I’ll explain on the way. Just...please. Trust me.” His eyes twitched as he swallowed slowly. I tried my hardest to silently convey how serious this was. If we were going to make it to Scott before whatever the hell that was happened, we needed to go. Now.
He hesitated a moment, looking at me as if he wasn’t convinced of my sanity, but eventually nodded in agreement. I let out a breath of relief, casting a final quick glance at Ms. McCall and Peter as I climbed into the Jeep. I was nervous about leaving her with him, but right now Scott was the priority.
I just hoped we would get there in time.
                                                —————————
I squinted through the darkness, using my phone’s flashlight to help illuminate our path as we walked through the woods. It was nearly midnight now, the sun long gone. I was starting to lose hope that we would find Scott. It looked like he was somewhere in the preserve during my vision, but we had yet to run into a single other living thing yet. With each passing minute, it seemed more and more likely that I was actually just crazy.
“So I’m your anchor? Me. Stiles.” He asked from beside me, for the third time in ten minutes.
I sighed, pulling his jacket tighter against me as a gust of wind brushed along the back of my neck. He’d given it to me without hesitation when we got out of the car, already assuming I’d be cold. Since we had nothing else to do while looking for Scott, I told him about what I saw by the cars and explained how Derek helped me with my visions last week.
He wasn’t happy, to put it mildly. He probably hated the guy more than any of us, and had since let me know how much he despised the idea of me being alone with him. Repeatedly.
“Don’t go getting a big head about it.” I quipped, mostly joking. “I’m sure I could pick a new one if I wanted to.”
He stopped walking and looked over at me, utterly offended. When he leaned forward to narrow his eyes, I noticed something over his shoulder. I took a big step toward him and shoved his head out of the way quickly.
“Hey! What the hell was—”
“Oh my God.” My heart instantly started hammering in my chest as I saw a crumpled figure a few feet ahead. “Scott!”
As I sprinted toward him, I heard a low, pained groan. Within seconds, I fell onto my knees beside him. His eyes were fluttering as he stared vacantly up into the sky and clutched his injured side. My hands twitched in the air above him, wanting to help but having no idea what to do. Thick smoke started pouring out between his fingers, and I reeled back in disgust.
Stiles scrambled to his other side a moment later, wide eyes flickering back and forth between Scott and I as if he couldn’t believe that I was right. Honestly, I couldn’t either.
“Allison...” Scott choked the word out, barely able to get a breath in.
“Seriously?” I shouted urgently as panic surged through me. “You’re literally dying and that’s all you can say? What the hell happened?”
“Derek...Jackson was...” He sputtered and coughed, thick blood oozing from his mouth.
I groaned in frustration. This whole gasping out one word at a time thing was not working for me. I looked up at Stiles desperately. “We have to do something.”
“Uh. Right. Okay...” I could practically see the gears turning in his head as his eyes flickered around spastically before finally coming back to mine. “The clinic. We have to take him to the clinic.”
“What?” I breathed, surprised by the suggestion.
“Just, come on. We don’t have much time.”
We both draped each of Scott’s arms over our shoulders and started dragging him back the way we came. I was obviously Incredibly freaked out because he was dying right in front of us, but I was angry, too. I was so mad at myself for not being able to see this sooner. If I had control over my visions, we could’ve been here before he even got hurt. I couldn’t help but feel partially to blame for the whole thing.
Within minutes we were barreling through the vet clinic’s doors. We came in using the garage, the same way Scott had told us to when Derek was in this same position. It was obvious that he’d been shot with a bullet covered in wolf’s bane, since he wasn’t healing at all. Stiles and I dropped him onto one of the metal operating tables the second we got in the room.
He was passed out cold at this point. I bent over to rest my hands on my knees, my chest heaving with labored breaths. He was heavy as shit, and Stiles and I aren’t exactly the peak of fitness. After I caught my breath, I stood up straight and immediately froze at the sight of Deaton in the doorway.
He was just standing there, observing us curiously. We were so screwed. He could charge us with breaking and entering, at the very least. Plus, Scott was laying on his table with a bullet hole in his chest. There was absolutely no way to explain this, and we didn’t have time anyway.
“Uh...” I stammered, not sure what to say.
“Remove his shirt.” Deaton said slowly, his eyes firmly planted on Scott as he walked across the room.
Stiles and I exchanged a quick glance, but did as he said. I grimaced and reared back as I saw the bullet wound properly for the first time. It was still discharging that weird smoke and was oozing a thick, nasty looking black liquid. Deaton returned to the table with a pair of long tweezers, gauze, and a small jar. He looked strangely calm as he peered down at Scott’s unconscious frame.
“I thought you were a vet.” My eyes trailed over him as he snapped on a pair of medical gloves. I appreciated the help from an adult right now, but he wasn’t exactly a doctor.
He glanced at me fleetingly before picking up the tweezers. “That’s correct. And ninety percent of the time I’m mostly treating cats and dogs.”
“Mostly?” Stiles muttered from beside me, his eyes glistening down at Scott with worry.
Deaton paused just before digging the tweezers into Scott’s side. He looked at the two of us, a small smile pulling at his lips as if he knew something we didn’t. “Mostly.”
Just then, my phone started ringing loudly. I winced at the high pitched tone and reached into my back pocket to fish it out, but stilled when I came up empty. My brows furrowed as I patted my hands against my jeans. I could’ve sworn I put it back in there once we found Scott.
“What are you doing?” Stiles eyed me curiously from the other end of the table.
“Have you seen my phone?” I muttered, walking around the room to look around the floor. The ringing kept getting progressively louder, to the point that it was almost painful. I rubbed at my ears as I continued searching.
“Y/N...” Something about his tone made my attention snap back to him. I glanced down at his hand as he held it out toward me. “You dropped it in the woods so I picked it up...”
My breath caught in my throat as I looked down at the screen. It was black. There was no one calling me, but I could still hear the ringing even now. It didn’t make any sense. I took it from him with a shaky hand, avoiding his concerned gaze. I nearly jumped out of my skin as it started actually going off the second my fingers touched it.
My eyes flickered up toward Stiles and Deaton, who were both watching me closely. I cleared my throat and turned my back to them before answering.
“Y/N!” Allison yelled harshly, panic clear in her voice. I immediately stiffened. What more could go wrong tonight? “You’re never going to fucking believe this.”
“What?” I breathed, my heart already beating erratically in my chest with anticipation.
“My aunt just showed me this creepy room we have in our basement—which I didn’t even know was a thing by the way—and you’ll never believe who she has chained up in there.”
I blinked a few times, taking a moment to process what she said. “Allison, just spit it out already.”
“Derek fucking Hale! And—and that’s not all. He was...he’s. Oh my God, I can’t even say it. He’s a...a...”
I pinched my eyes shut, waiting for the inevitable bomb to drop. How did he always manage to get himself in these ridiculous situations? Like, are you kidding me right now? As if dealing with Peter wasn’t enough, he goes and gets himself kidnapped by the Argents too.  I turned back around to face Stiles and Deaton, my gaze shifting to the fresh bandage on Scott’s side. I took the relieved look in their eyes as a good sign that he was going to be okay. I held onto the small hope that Allison’s innocence had been preserved and she wasn’t about to say what I thought.
“You’re going to think I’m crazy, but he’s—she said that he’s a...werewolf.”
Yeah, I knew we weren’t that lucky.
