Rules: List ten books that have stayed with you in some way, don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard - they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you.
Thank you @logarithmicpanda and @smalltownfae (it took a while, I blame the abyssmal desktop tumblr experience - I hate the post editor!! Not happy with the formatting now but I have given up)
Alanna the first Adventure by Tamora Pierce I remember when I got the book for my 11th birthday. And then it stayed on my shelf for quite a while (didn't like the cover). I nearly missed it! But luckily, some day I picked it up and then ran to the bookstore to get the other books in the series.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell THE booklr book
Howl's Moving Castle by Dianna Wynne Jones Reminded me what great books are like
Die große Drachensuche von Cornelia Funke The first version of the story that was later rewritten as Drachenreiter (Dragon Rider). From a time when I still adored her books
Der Wunschpunsch von Michael Ende All of his children's books have been part of my childhood, so it was hard to pick just one. This is about evil people wanting to destroy the environment and brave animals defeating them (on New Year's Eve).
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater I like all the books I read by her and all of them are still on my shelf - but Scorpio Races made a deep impression on me (I will probably never read it again, the violence against the horses was too much, that's why it stayed so prominent probably).
Die Känguru Chroniken von Marc-Uwe Kling (and all following books) So funny and made me aware of my political leanings in a way I wasn't previously.
Drei Männer im Schnee von Erich Kästner Obviously his children's books were part of my growing up (they are (were?) in Germany). A few years ago I started reading his adul novels. This one, while on the light side, still has some social commentary.
The Rest of us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness One of the few books from a subscription box I kept, read it multiple times. The talk between the protagonist and his psychatrist still makes me tear up.
Ferien auf Saltkrokan von Astrid Lindgren Another childhood classic that I reread a lot during my university years. A better, seemingly easier world. Soul food.
I tag @lizziethereader @linebetween @the-forest-library @thelivebookproject

youtube recced me some video about how Gen 5 was the best ever or something and I am HOWLING b/c ya'll would have fucking crucified it if it came out now.
Like, ya'll crucify them for something as minimal as *checks notes* how a tree looks or the multiplayer connectivity function.
Ya'll hated Sun and Moon's Festival Plaza with a *passion*, there's no way Join Avenue-which you are forced into doing the first time you pass through-would not have gotten away unscathed.
And, can you IMAGINE if Game Freak released a game now, and we discovered that an entire evolution line, of a new, regular pokemon in the regional dex, was effectively locked behind events from previous games that had ended BEFORE the new game dropped? Can you fucking imagine?? You'd be at GameFreak's door with pitchforks and torches calling for their heads if they did that now.
But oh it was totally fine for Gen 5 to do it. In an era where it was much harder to do WiFi events (cause you either had to go to a certain place or hope your wifi was compatible with the game/system).
And the fact that it was all new pokemon, no old pokemon (at least till post game or unless you transferred them in) would have pissed people off.
Not to mention how all the designs I hear people bitch about (Kling line, Trubbish line, Vanillite line, to name a few) are all from this gen as well. Like, are we *sure* you liked this gen? really?
Everyone got the worst double standards and it's laughable.

10, 12 & 19 for the book ask game, please :))
Thank you ❤️
10. the worst book u have ever read?
Effie Briest probably 💀 Had to read it in 12th grade and I hated it. Fortunately we didn't have enough time to finish reading.
12. a book/book series u wish u could read for the first time ever again?
Idk maybe something from German class, now that I'm older I think I would actually like what we read back then.
19. a book u came across randomly but ended up loving it?
Qualityland by Marc-Uwe Kling. My mom gifted it to me for my 21st (?) birthday. I somehow never got into the Känguru books and stuff until very recently, so I didn't know much about Marc-Uwe Kling. But I loved Qualityland from the very beginning as well as the sequel.

kraftwerk 2 is such a cool album like aside from just being dope i think its so cool u have the songs with bass and guitar not just cause its bass and guitar but like u can hear that ralf and florian still gravitate toward similar playing styles on instruments that they dont seem to be as familiar with compared to their normal instruments. like ralf still pursues rhythmic stuff like he did on the electric organ/electric piano and florian still does like echo-y things and just more expansive spacial sounds like he would on flute but they dont seem as like able to conjure relaxing moods liek they were able to with the keyboard flute combo and instead all the guitar bass stuff sounds more moody. like its intereesting cause  i think theyre really great at the keyboards and flute respectively like florian was able to rly do great terry riley type stuff and ralf was able to improvise in a way that still contributed to the rhythm and deep end of the music while also sprinkling in the lil melodies that kraftwerk would eventually become defined by. but like with them on bass and guitar ralf would still do rhythm stuff but instead on bass and idk if florian was using like an echo still or was just letting the guitar naturally reverb or smthn but like its rly cool that theres still that formula but simply changing the instruments changed the music entirely. idk tho kraftwerk 2 may also be seen as an underwhelming album to some ppl so like its an album that invites being read and analyzed compared to like the psychedelic instrumentals of their first album or the more consistently mood pieces of ralf und florian. tho i do think kraftwerk 2 is a rly great album like i dont actually think its underwhelming at all its just one of those great albums that gets better with each listen and like def feels like compared to their firsst album they were actually trying to set out to make something rly just disciplined unlike the more dicking around type stuff of their first album. i like a lot of their first album too tho i think all their albums are great lol tho their first is probably the most like idk stuff that kinda feels aimless. ppl always say experimental stockhausen stuff in rock/krautrock stuff is aimless and i hate that cause i once saw some1 say taht augmn from tago mago was filler and on the same level as sondarangebot from neu’s debut and that made me want to ring their neck lol like smthn like augmn is def one of cans greatest achievements ANYWAYS ya like in the case of kraftwerks first album a good amount of the spacey stuff kinda feels more like idk just aimless and more just them playing with gadgets in the typical rock fashion than anything with a real weight but also at the same time i like the mix of stockhausen sounds with liek free improvisation sounds like its a cool mix. I REALLY FUCKING LOVE machine gun by peter brotzmann and brotzmann’s work in general cause i lovethat mix of john cage or stockhausen grupen type stuff with free jazz like its rly great conceptually and musically mixing the two with such straightforward success. i mean european free improvisation as a whole is like that and that makes it rly great imo. ANYWAYS i do feel like kraftwerk 1 as a whole is definitely uneven even tho its a great fun listen. like theres things ‘wrong’ with it that isnt in their other work stuff that dates it more but also its still a great fun album for sure. ruckzuck will always be a essential kraftwerk track for sure kinda sucks they disowned their earlier albums cause a song like that rly is an essential part of their history. like its ruckzuck -> kling klang -> tanzmusik -> autobahn -> radio activity -> trans europe express -> the model -> the entirety of computer world -> tour de france etc if you wanna chart their growth and changes as a band solely on a song to song basis. like those ARE the defining songs of their career. I FORGOT WHAT THIS POST WAS ABOUT AND LET MY MIND WANDER AIMLESSLY

a firebird(pop version)
youtube
I got lost in those burning eyes, the love and hate I see inside Every glance sets my heart on fire, it’s too much, I can’t deny I was chasing dreams, I made my vow, promised a life with someone else But now I’m falling, can’t look away, it’s you I want, no one else (Yo) In the shadows, I dreamed of the night Where flames of vengeance burn so bright Anger for you, ice-cold despair The pain inside I just can’t bear The mirror shows a hollow man Weak and broken, that’s all I am But no more! Watch me rise, step by step Steel my will, ignite my soul, I’ll earn my respect Every time I see you there, my heart feels like it’s gonna break A piercing gaze, a fiery soul, a frozen smile I can’t escape This forbidden love consumes me whole, I know it shouldn’t be this way But here I stand, and here I fall, your love is pulling me to stay Reborn again, a brand-new man I’ll claim your heart, it’s all my plan With every move, seduction’s game My vengeance burns, I’ll stake my claim Through blood and sweat, I’ve trained all night To build this strength, to win this fight Your heart’s my prize, I’ll break it too This dream of vengeance will come true But then your eyes, that tender gaze, they melt the ice I’d held for days Could it be real? This love I feel, it breaks the walls, it makes me stay I close my eyes, and when I wake, I know you’re gone, you slipped away Was that one look, the love you gave, your silent answer to my pain? Even if love comes knocking again, my heart won’t open easily The scars I bear, they’ve shaped me now, waiting for fate to set me free These memories I can’t erase, they draw me closer to your face The same pain, the same regret, I understand the love we met I miss you and hate you, but I can’t deny I loved you so much, though I don’t know why The more I long, the more I regret The deeper I loved, the harder it gets If destiny brings us back again The tears we cried will still remain You were made for me, I was made for you But like a phoenix, I must rise anew With wings of fire, I’ll touch the sky Burn my love, let it die For love demands this sacrifice These weary days, they’re wearing thin Living with memories I’m trapped within I miss you, I hate you, I love you still But love has crushed me, it’s broken my will Like a phoenix burning bright and true I’ll rise from ashes, away from you I miss you and hate you, but I can’t deny I loved you so much, though I don’t know why The more I long, the more I regret The deeper I loved, the harder it gets I miss you and hate you, but I can’t deny I loved you so much, though I don’t know why The more I long, the more I regret The deeper I loved, the harder it gets

I think it's more the way the outfit fit. They just often don't fit, especially in the bist area. I also think that especially back then people wore a lot of outfits in that style because of Kanye, Celine, Alexander Wang etc. but do you
Oh you did mean to be rude and very. First off, that is not completely true and you can see it through most my outfits in the past two years. Maybe there are a couple pieces that don't fit so well anymore and I should replace, since my body has changed now that I'm older and I rarely buy anything anymore for a couple of years, but that has nothing to do with my overall style. However, I will take your criticism in a constructive manner, even if it's evidently not how you meant it.
Secondly, I am NOT a fashion influencer anymore and I very ocassionally post outfits here, not in any serious way whatsoever, only having fun with 95% of things I've had in my closet for many years. I am honestly surprised that someone even cares about the looks I'm posting here since I stopped using Instagram.
And lastly, big NO: most people who wore minimal outfits then were wearing normcore and that is a fact. I do not remember Kanye being an influence on anybody (not a hip hop fan , but punk, on the other hand, has been an inspiration), but mostly, I do not remember anyone with an overall elegant, experimental minimal style other than Centenera who was my biggest inspiration (she was Kanye's influence rather than the other way around and I hate streetwear BTW). There were people like Elin Kling, Columbine Smile, Camille Charriere, Ivania Carpio, Charlie May and a few others with their own brand of minimalism, but none looked like each other differently to today's influencers. There might have been people who wore here and there elegant minimal outfits, but it was overall not a thing. Everyone wanted to wear casual, relaxed, and effortless was a key word back then. I know it because I was there. There wasn't even one single Tumblr blog solely dedicated to elegant minimal style and collecting those brands and designers back then. Besides, if you are telling me that there was anyone in the blogosphere then with an overall style wearing all the exact elements I've continously worn since then (asymmetry, dresses over pants, skants, subversive clothing, puff sleeves, barely there sandals or mules, etc) then I can just laugh.
You very clearly do not understand what style is (general problem with the Instagram generation) and that it is a very personal thing about the very specific things one likes and one's experiences and personal background (I studied architecture and I put together outfits in a similar manner I would design). My style was formed in the Y2K era (Helmut Lang style) and the influence was always there. I even met my husband back in 2003 in an outfit similar to what I wear today: white capris, pointy kitten mules, and a black plunge halterneck.
Please find a better hobby than to troll people on the internet. If you are so bothered by the looks I post, ignore them, it's very simple. I don't even earn a cent by doing this.

15/06 Sidney Charles fa ballare Bolgia - Bergamo
Tumblr media
Dntxst e poi Art Of Fighters, Paola Nyx, Not So Tall, e DØNZO.
Illinois Supreme Court agrees to hear appeal from former 'Empire' actor Jussie Smollett
The Illinois Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal from actor Jussie Smollett after an appellate court upheld his conviction for lying to police about being the victim of a hate crime in a staged attack.
The high court announced Wednesday it would hear Smollett’s case, but a date for arguments has not been set.
In December, a state appeals court upheld the actor’s conviction and sentence in a split decision.
Justices David Navarro and Mary Ellen Coghlan affirmed the conviction and said they did not find his sentence unreasonable.
But Justice Freddrenna Lyle dissented, saying she would have overturned the conviction.
The charges stemmed from Smollett’s claim that he was attacked by two men who made remarks indicating they were supporters of President Donald Trump while beating him, dousing him with a bleach-like substance and hanging a thin rope noose around his neck as he walked to his Streeterville apartment in January 2019.
At the time, Smollett was a rising star on the cast of the hit television show “Empire” and was attempting to launch a music career.
Word of the attack spread quickly, but his story quickly fell apart as police investigated, and he was charged with lying.
Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx later said she was recusing herself from the case after it was revealed she had helped facilitate conversations between Smollett’s family and the Chicago Police Department.
Months later, her office decided to drop the charges, saying it reached an agreement with the actor to forfeit his bond and perform community service.
However, he was indicted on new charges after a judge appointed special prosecutor Dan Webb to review the decision.
Webb’s report stated the state’s attorney office had committed substantial abuses of discretion and operational failures.”
A Cook County jury found Smollett guilty of five counts of disorderly conduct in 2021, and he was sentenced to 30 months of probation, with the first 150 days to be served at Cook County Jail.
Smollett appealed the conviction and was released after spending six days of the sentence behind bars.
Smollett’s attorneys argued that the second round of charges against the actor violated an agreement reached with Cook County prosecutors to drop the case if he performed community service and forfeited his bond.
Writing for the majority, Justice Navarro stated that “The record does not establish that Smollett entered into a nonprosecution agreement … in exchange for his performance of community service and the forfeiture of his bond.”
Lyle disagreed, saying that although Smollett had not entered into a plea agreement, “a bilateral agreement took place, which bound the state, nonetheless.
“The majority contends that there is no evidence in the state’s agreement that the parties intended for the agreement to be tantamount to a dismissal with prejudice,” Lyle said. “I disagree.”
Richard Kling, a professor at Chicago–Kent College of Law, told the Sun-Times after the ruling that he believed the high court would pick up the case.
He pointed to the overturning of actor Bill Cosby’s sexual assault conviction by Pennsylvania’s highest court on similar arguments.
“I think that’s [Smollett’s] strongest argument and best chance,” Kling said.

[ "Von, you were so butch, and in the middle of an era when few women were wearing pants, let alone tuxedos and sideburns. You wore heavy silver jewelry, men's sweaters and Levis, boots, cuff links, and never any makeup. You had a direct gaze and a guileless manner. I believe you got away with it because of your ability to use genuine charm. Because of the-how shall I say it? -purity of your soul, my mother was able to come to terms, if not with my Lesbianism (the word had too many negative mean- ings for her), at least with my love for individual women.
After nearly losing your teaching credentials when the Air Force told your college that you were connected to me, an open Lesbian, you stayed away from me for two years. How I begged you, to get you to come back to me. I even sent you money to ensure that you would make the thousand-mile trip, so you would know how seriously in love with you I was and how much I needed you. I simply couldn't launch my life without you. And you came back to live with me even though it meant risking your credentials all over again, for I was angry and restless for a better life for Gay people. I persuaded you to march in a Mattachine picket line for Gay rights, two of fifteen marchers in front of the White House and with the real threat of permanent unemploy- ment if we were seen by the wrong people. The risk for me was not so great, since "writer" was what I intended to become. You were a teacher; you could have lost everything.
When I brought you home to meet my parents during the second period when we lived together, after 1963, my mother took me aside in the kitchen for a whisper session. The horror of the letter my parents had gotten from the Air Force years before con- cerning my disgrace and "undesirable" status as a perverted person still shadowed her face. She feared social disapproval above all terrors. Her hands and eyes, however, were fluttering and spar-kling with a newfound understanding.
"I can't help liking her," she said of you, using her lowest voice. "She's such a good person, so warm, and smart, and unas-suming." My mother's eyes met mine. "Why, she's just like you," she said. "I can't hate her. It would be like hating you." I knew she was surprised at this. "Lesbian" in those days was something filthy and different that came along to wreck your innocent daughter's life. I grinned at her, knowing we were going to become friends again. I knew that once more, Von my hero, you had braved the vast army of social hatred and had won the field."]

4, 10, 14, 39 & 48 for the bookish questions💙
Thanks! It's probably a good idea to answer these instead of packing for my trip tomorrow right???
4. What is a book series that everyone else loves but you do not?
I can't immediately think of an answer so I'll look through some of my stats.
Ohhhh now I know. Die Känguruh-Chroniken by Marc-Uwe Kling. I had almost forgotten I listened to the first book at some point. But yeah. Everyone hails the series as this perfect piece of art and I'm like "why is this so repetitive???"
10. What is a book that you own more than one copy of?
Too many? But to choose one, The Kingdom of Gods by N. K. Jemisin. I first bought a new copy but when it arrived it had a different cover than was shown online and didn't fit with the rest of the series covers so I bought a copy of the right version used :D
14. What book gives you happy memories?
The Foxhole Court because I reread most of the series with @theridiculouslyme in 2020 and we had a lot of fun overanalyzing the fuck out of it :D
39. What book offended you?
Can't believe I forgot the title, hating this book felt like part of my personality for a while, lemme look for it.
It's Whipped by Jenika Snow. It's offensively bad. Oh my god.
48. What book made you angry?
Winger by Andrew Smith is the only book I ever threw against the wall and then into the trash right after finishing so. That. But Vampires of Portlandia by Jason Tanamor might be a close second with that stupid ending.
Ask me more bookish questions (while I finally pack my stuff) :D
