Why I hate Jordan Matter

An Essay.

(Disclaimer; I only really know him because my niece watches his family vlogs.)

With the rise of the internet came the rise of video blogs or vlogs. People would vlog their trip to Disney or their everyday life, then came the family vloggers who would record their life or viral trends with their kids who are usually too young to have a tiktok account. Jordan Matter says that he does these public challenge videos because he loves spending time with his kids even though he ends up spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars per video or getting absolutely humiliated. My niece will endlessly watch these challenge videos while I'm babysitting her, so I end up watching these because I become baffled by these kids and their father.

Recently, my niece put on this one video that was a compilation of many other videos, it was about 5 color challenge videos from Jordan Matter. For those who don't know, color challenges are series of challenges where there are usually two competitors or teams, and they have to create entirely new outfits at the mall, buy them and then usually buy things in their color or do something related to the color they picked, there is usually a way to fail so the competitors are fighting for a win. This compilation is what inspired me to write this. As I was watching I realized these videos took place over a span of about 2 years, with in this video Jordan Matter's daughter, who I will not name out of respect because this in no way is her fault, her friends and the Anazala family were all featured. In one challenge it was Asala Anazala and her daughter vs Jordan's daughter vs Jordan, the girls had to buy outfits in their color and then hide somewhere in the mall near something of their color. Jordan had to find them, Jordan was allowed to dispatch a challenge where they had to buy ice cream in their color without getting caught by him. In this challenge the prize was a 5 minute shopping spree in any store, he constantly made comments about how didn't want to drain his bank account by letting either of the other teams win, then why would you have offered this up as a prize? Throughout the video he gets kicked out of a target along with a dozen teens because he ends up recruiting around a dozen of them to find his daughter in the target and they become rowdy and end up running around, yelling and recording. After getting kicked out he then goes back in because he still trying to find Asala and her daughter. He then proceeded to run after Asala and her daughter yelling and screaming. I genuinely hope that he gets banned from that target because he is not only a disturbance to the peace but he just creates more trouble for the workers who are most likely barely scraping by and don't get payed enough to deal with some old man paying teens to help him win a vlog challenge.

In another challenge of the compilation Jordan asks an ice cream shop to allow his daughter and her friend to serve people ice cream. They stick a camera in customer's faces and allowed two twelve year olds to make and serve milk shakes and ice cream to people just trying to order a treat. In this piece of the challenge the girls end up trying to coerce the customers to buy something pink with their order, and many of the customers seem uncomfortable with the pressure coming from the girls. Jordan desperate to win also ends up sticking a camera in people's faces and trying to coerce customers still waiting into not buying anything pink. Jordan not only is a nuisance to the public but honestly a threat to public safety as this is not the only time he has challenged his kid to get behind a counter they don't work at and serve customers that didn't ask to be served by this child. Children are icky! They have so much bacteria and germs and they are not very good at washing their hands, he could have unknowingly caused people to get sick. There was another video (completely separate from this compilation) where he asked his son to ask a coffee shop if he could get behind the counter and fill an order, in short he sucked at it but the coffee shop had someone watching him the whole way through, unlike the girls video where they were pretty much unsupervised by angy but Jordan and the cameras for a good portion of the video.

In short, Jordan Matter is a public nuisance and should have his platform taken because he's exploiting his kids and borderline harassing workers. He has been recording his kids for at least 4 years to my knowledge, his daughter was 11 and his son was 14. He has been sending them on challenges in the mall and in stores for years. Fuck Jordan Matter.

Random HC's That I Probably Overexplain - Cater Edition 1!

TW: Angst heavy, using kids for profit via social media, emotional/physical abuse (nothing explicit/gory) His mom was a family life vlogger. I've dabbled on this topic a few times before, but never got really into it. His mom ran a channel called the "Beloved Diamond Family", in which his mother went by Dreamy Diamond, and his older sisters went by Dazzling and Ditzy Diamond. He was "Daring Diamond" or sometimes just called "Little Gem/Diamond". "Daddy Diamond" was never around, but his mom sometimes went on rants about him on camera. They rarely made it onto the channel though. Part of the reason the Diamonds moved so much is because of his dad's work, but the other part was because of how much information his mom would divulge and put her kids in danger. Cater's dad did his best to protect his kids from the consequences of her actions, but couldn't get ahead of them. Cater was the star of many of the videos, as he was the baby and everyone wanted to see more of him. He hated being made to do everything that his mom said, or repeating the actions a hundred times until he got it "perfect", but the comments of other parents telling him how much their kids loved him and whatnot was enough to keep him going. It's also why he's so attached to his phone now and a big part of why he just keeps up the facade. To be caught at a less than picture perfect moment or with a subpar reaction at this point scares him. Irrationally, he worries about his mothers reaction, and because he's never really been to school for long enough to make friends, he has to act the only way he knows how and hope that people keep liking the show he puts on. A lot of the videos were pretty fluffy, happy videos, but Ms. Diamond would do anything for views, and did put out videos of Cater sobbing over his dead pet, about him breaking his arm on his skateboard, and a lot of her "prank" videos that were mostly just endangering her kids or trying to prove her husband was cheating. (At one point she did a "slip and slide" in the kitchen and called Cater over to try some of her cookies. He couldn't have been more than five or six, so he came running in excited and ended up in urgent care. All the scars and marks he got from his moms wacked out ideas have been carefully hidden under makeup and magic for years now, but sometimes he doesnt have the energy to cover them up on his clones). Obviously, none of the Diamond kids were off very well, but when they were "too big to be cute anymore" his mom kind of let the channel die out and became a more severe alcoholic. However, when her channel started to pick up traction again years later, Ms. Diamond decided to keep her channel going with behind the scenes clips and telling stories about her kids while mildly tipsy. She didn't tell her kids she was going to do this, and now that they're all 18 and over they want to stop her, but don't want to cause more drama from her. Cater's bigger sister wants to take her to court for everything she's done, but Cater and his eldest sister just want to ignore it and sweep it under the rug like nothing is going on because it hurts too much to revisit the things they used to have to do. Cater's mom is...a BoyMom. Like she is Not Normal about her son to a creepy uncomfortable extent and Cater doesn't know how to deal with it, he mostly tries to break contact with her, but she is relentless and a master guilt tripper. He had been looking forward to his 18th birthday to officially disown her or put a restraining order on her, but never had the heart to actually do it, because...it is his mom, and family never abandons each other unless you want to be a piece of shit, right? (This is not serious, please, if you have family that doesn't treat you well don't be afraid to leave if you can)

Hello. I am currently nearing my mid 20's and still have a hard time making peace with how my body looks. I've been bullied because of it for all my life, both from schoolmates years back and even family. Over time, I realize it became a constant part of me, and even my inner voice now mimics the same sentiments when I look into reflective surfaces.

Sometimes, I thought I was getting better, that I am coming to terms with how I am, but it's always a fleeting thing, and one comment about my looks or a simple bad day takes me back to square one. Because of this, I've let a lot of opportunities pass me by, deem myself unworthy of things that I think I do not deserve just because I'm fat, and it's taking a huge chunk out of me.

My question is, is there a way how to cope with this? Does it really get better? Would I really get better? It's getting tiring most times, to live in a body that you hate and hates you.

I'm sorry for dumping all this in your ask, and I'd completely understand if you ignore it. You're just one of the people I look up to in this app, and your works have sparked the idea to me that I, a fat person, can be loveable too. And thank you so much for that.

Hi! Sorry for the long answer, I don’t know if this is helpful this is just my experience.

So, to start with, I totally get the external voices becoming internal. My mother cannot handle the fact that I’m fat and always have been (I was literally a 10lb baby). Growing up she was very cruel about it and essentially taught me anorexia starting around age 8. It can be really hard to push those voices away but you have to keep reminding yourself they are external. They are not you - they are other people with their own issues and hang ups. Easier said than done ik but it’s good to keep in mind.

I would say it’s super important to get rid of the idea that your body hates you. It doesn’t - it’s just doing it’s best to keep you alive. That’s it’s only goal. Something that has helped me is separating my body from myself and making it just something I take care of. Like a plant. I feed and water it and let it do it’s thing.

It’s always going to be a flip flopping battle. Some days will always be bad. I think the best goal is neutrality. When I stopped trying to force myself to love my body and sought neutrality I made so much more progress. Now I’ve come to mostly love my body as it is, but learning to be neutral to it first really was the thing that got the ball rolling in a positive direction.

Some steps that helped me a lot were only following plus size fashion vloggers/influencers. Especially if you can find people with the same body type as you. Another was simply not looking in mirrors too much. I’d get stuck staring at my reflection and just only looking in passing for a while helped a lot.

I hope this helps. It makes me really happy that you find solace in my works - that’s a big part of why I started writing them for myself! Us fat babes are hot and I stand by that whether or not everyone sees it🫶

Let's Talk about Chu - Review

All the most engaging BLs I’ve been watching are now finished or about to end, so I needed to fill the time with something else.

That’s how I decided to start Let’s Talk about Chu, a Taiwanese series which came out this year and is available on Netflix.

The pitch is simple enough :

“Chu Ai, a wax technician, runs a sex education vlog on the side. Living by her motto of "Only Sex, No Love," she has a long-term sexual relationship with Ping Ke. In the face of the challenges and conflicts that arise from the Chu family's, unfulfilled demands for sex and love, can Chu Ai find the answer to desire and self-discovery and start a relationship that goes beyond the physical?”

The synopsis made it seems like the main character was Chu Ai, but it’s not true. The main character is the Chu Family, as a whole.

Chu Yeh Mei Chih and Chu Cheng Nan are the parents. They don’t have a really good relationship. They let things between us goes without have a proper conversation and now they live with resentment.

Chu Yu Sen is the oldest son. He is lying about his job to his parents to hide the fact he is earning his money from being an expert card gambler. He is also openly gay and has an open relationship with his current boyfriend and things are not going well. He will eventually meet a gangster and things will change...

Chu Wei is the oldest daughter. She is married to Lin Shi Chieh who is older than her and he is a teacher in University. She desires a deeper connection with her husband because she feels they lost the passion in their relationship.

And finally, we have Chu Ai, the sex education vlogger who has a friends-with-benefits relationship with Ping Ke who also have to deals with his own vision of what is love or relationship based on what he witnesses in his family.

I have to admit, I didn’t like the first episode. However, I know myself and I also always hate the first episode. I don’t know why, but I start to know if I like a series after the second episode. That’s why I never trust my first impression. I’m glad I didn’t stop after the first episode because this series is awesome. It’s very engaging for several reasons.

First of all, because this series deals a lot with sexual relationships, it’s important when the actors can translate that well and here it works. They all have a really good chemistry. Nothing feels too awkward, but it is also not trying to portray “too perfect” moments. I would like to also add there isn’t that much nude-scenes despite the series focus on sex and love.

I also appreciate how it centered the story around different stages of relationship. We have the old couple who never talked, the queer relationship, the open relationship or friends-with-benefits relationship… You can see the point of view of a younger generation on what is love or sex, but also the view of the older generation.

Finally, the series also allows you to have an insight on different issues such as not wanting children despite being pressure to have them, sexual compatibility, STI, childhood trauma, homophobia, abandonment… just to name a few.

My favorite couple were the oldest sister and her husband. They have an age-gap and he also was her teacher, when she was in university. At first, I found her annoying because she never seems to understand how her husband may not want the same things at the same time she wanted it, but I started to understand her after a few episodes. They lacked proper conversation about what they wanted, because when the passion is not there anymore, you have to connect differently. Their couple is all about, how your relationship can turn if you don’t communicate enough. Despite their issues, you could feel their love for each others.

My second favorite couple was the oldest son and the gangster he met. I wasn’t expected them to end up together, but what a ride it was. They really are good for each other and they fulfill what the other needs. Of course, they don’t get to this point without facings some difficulties, but their unexpected relationship is really wholehearted. They get more grow than some BL couples and I also like how it gave us an insight of what is it to be gay in Taiwan nowadays.

I was less interested by Ai because I felt she was the least likable character. It is mostly due to how she treated Ping Ke. I felt she was usually not fair to him. I agree, he also needed to express his feelings more, but when you learn about his family story you kind of get why he is this way. I feel like Ai, as his friend, should have known more but I can see why it wasn’t that easy for her. They are cute, but I believe their relationship is not as interesting as the others. I liked them both more as individual character than as a couple.

Finally, I connected less with the parents because their relationship made me think of my own parents and I didn’t really like what it said about my reality. I feel the mother has a real personality while the father remains bland because we don’t see him that much as he is not present a lot in the series. The mother is struggling a lot and I really appreciate how she grew from it and learn more about her children but also about what she yearn for. Brownie points to the mother (she is one of us) who was watching a BL series on Gagaoolala.

Overall, this series is a true gem. Taiwan can really produce amazing series and they should not be overlooked because they really have something to offer.

Former mommy vlogger Ruby Franke once said, in one of her many, many mommy vlogs, that she would never accept being “canceled,” and anyone who didn’t like the way she treated her children just hated “responsibility.” 

Yesterday, a judge sentenced Franke, who pleaded guilty to four counts of child abuse this past December, to one to 15 years for each count, to be served consecutively. The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole will determine the exact amount of time she will serve, though it will not be more than 30 years as that is the maximum allowed for consecutive sentences in the state. 

Some might say that’s a little more than “canceled.”

Ruby Franke, like many Mormon ladies in Utah, had a family YouTube vlog documenting every day of her life with her husband and six children and dispensing parenting advice. It was called “8 Passengers” and it was hugely popular among the kinds of people who watch family vlogs. How huge? Two and a half million followers huge. 

Then, one day, she bragged in a video about how her daughter Eve’s kindergarten teacher texted her to tell her that she didn’t have any lunch, and could Ruby please come bring her one, whereupon Ruby informed the teacher that it was Eve’s responsibility to pack her own lunch, and if she didn’t have any she would just have to go hungry. Ruby added that she hoped no one gave her daughter anything to eat. 

This got a lot of traction outside her usual audience of family vlogger fans, from people who didn’t think it’s actually great parenting to starve children. 

Not long after that, she recorded a video with her son Chad who revealed that, a month after he came home from a “wilderness camp” for troubled teens (which sounds a lot like that horrifying one Paris Hilton was sent to), he played a silly prank on his little brother, waking him up and telling him to pack his things because they were all going to Disneyland. His punishment? He wasn’t allowed to have a bed for the next seven months and had to sleep on a bean bag. 

Ruby laughed and laughed the entire time like what she did was real cute. 

This didn’t go over well with viewers, and eventually someone started a Change.org petition to demand that the Utah Department of Child and Family Services do a welfare check. They started calling as well, and eventually they checked on the Frankes and, well, didn’t do jack shit. While they didn’t do anything, 90 percent of Franke’s sponsors on her YouTube channel did. They left.

It was at this point that Franke started portraying herself as a Good Conservative Mom who was being canceled by Bad Liberals Who Hate Responsibility.

“The reason we got canceled was because I was demonstrating, as I have done from day one, what a responsible mother looks like,” she said in a 2021 interview with The Wrap. “And it scared the living bejesus out of these kids who do not want to be held accountable. So that is the motive for the hate being thrown at me. I’m the antidote to their acting out, and they know it.”

Yeah, either that or they figured — correctly — that if this is what this woman thought was okay to put on camera, that whatever was happening off-camera was 10 times worse, or at least had the potential to get there. 

Eventually she abandoned family vlogging in favor of family counseling and joined forces with Jodi Hildebrandt, who was also charged in connection with this case. No one heard much about her until Franke’s 12-year-old son escaped Hildebrandt’s home (where he was staying) and ran to a neighbor for help, emaciated and covered in wounds and duct tape. 

Police arrested Franke, and not for the crime of being a responsible mother.

From May to August 2023, Ms. Franke, a mother of six, created a “concentration camp-like setting” for two of her children, who were 9 and 11 at the time, Eric Clarke, the Washington County attorney, said during the sentencing hearing. She regularly denied them adequate food, water, entertainment and beds, and isolated them from others, he said. Ms. Franke, 42, also forced her children to do physical tasks in extreme heat, without shoes, socks or water, Mr. Clarke said. They were forced to stand on hot concrete in the summer heat for hours and sometimes days at a time, he added, and were beaten and regularly bound by their hands and feet. The injuries were so severe that the children required hospitalization.

If you’re wondering where the duct tape came in, it is because Hildebrandt and Franke “treated” the areas from where they were handcuffed and legcuffed with “homeopathic remedies” and then wrapped them in duct tape. 

Franke later revealed in court that she also believed that her children were “possessed” and that extreme discipline was the only thing that could save them. this was a belief, she said, she got from Hildebrandt. Indeed, much of her court statement involved blaming Hildebrandt for more or less brainwashing her into believing that child abuse was what her kids needed. 

Hildebrandt is her own kind of monster, so this would be believable if not for everything else Franke thought was a great idea before May of 2023. So much for all that accountability she once loved so much.

It is possible that if, instead of assuming Franke was being “cancel cultured” for “demonstrating … what a responsible mother looks like,” the police and DCFS actually took the complaints seriously in the first place, those kids never would have been hospitalized or otherwise further traumatized. Wouldn’t that have been nice?

y'know, van lifer family vloggers are a scourge on society already. but i've got a new one lately: boat life family vloggers. so over the last week on facebook watch/video, i've started to get a young aussie couple, say in their early 30s, trying to convince people that living on a catamaran, sailing around the world is the peak of living sustainably and "beating the housing crisis" and "living the life they want" etc etc etc, all the usual mantras of van lifer family vloggers.

i don't really know how old most of the videos in my feed are, but in a couple of the latest ones that i've watched, they have a toddler (say about 2 years old) and a 6 month old or something. I've been thinking, along side of a parody series of van lifer family videos that I watch on YT shorts, about how incredibly cramped this life is. just how much control these parents want over their kids. how lonely and isolating it will be for those kids once they're older, and need actual kids their age- not just their sibling (or siblings if these people want more kids that the two they've got)- to interact with outside of and away from their parents (and their brother rn- or sister/s if they have more kids). at one stage, right after they have their second kid, they're straight back on the boat like a week after the kid is born.

in one of the videos, they show you around a new boat that's about $1.5 million to buy. they show you all the rooms in it: the galley, the two bedrooms, the kitchen etc and the navigation deck. but in what i suppose is meant to be the master bedroom (it's a queen bed stuffed between 2 walls and a door, with two small overhead fans when it's hot)..... and there's a funny thing down the end of the bed for storage. the woman of the couple, who shows the viewers the room, goes "oh i could probs fit in here!!! *feet stick out as she tries to squeeze herself into a STORAGE UNIT* oh wait. no i can't fit in it. it really is storage. or y'know. you could fit a child in there, i suppose." like. kelsey or whatever your name is. why the fuck would you put a kid in there??? other than maybe you're nursing them and want them close. but still. it's A FUCKING STORAGE UNIT?????

but i digress. you're being "environmentally conscious". you're living off of solar power and "teaching our kids about the r E a L w O r L d!!!!! giving them a real education!!! letting them live a life that they'd NEVER have on the mainland of australia!!! look! we've sailed to the bahamas to meet another youtube travel couple!! look! our boat broke down in bali so now kelsey has a much needed break from the kids on the mainland of indonesia bc we've invited our family over to the conutry bc it's closer (and cheaper) than Hawaii, where we were a month ago!!!"

like. have you considered that maybe this isn't really healthy for your kids??? like you have the tiniest fucking shower "or if the weather's good, our shower is mother nature :).... using the crystal clear waters of barbados to wash ourselves!!!! isn't that just awesome and cool and unique!!!???" and "oh our boat batteries have died so now we HAVE to shack up at a marina to charge :(! this sucks, bc it's so much better to be right next to dolphins in the atlantic oceans for our little boys!!!! we hate being on any mainland really bc we're not being self-sufficient!!! but half the time we have to moor and go to the mainland of anywhere, to make sure we stock up on locally sourced, grass fed farmer's market stock and also long life food!!!"

anyway. you get my point. i don't think this channel is good for starters, considering that what if you have a massive fight, in which you need time to cool off AWAY from your partner??? even more esp when you have the two kids now??? you really have NO private space on this catamaran, even though they sell it as if they do. again, obvs they're not filming EVERYTHING so you don't know what goes on when the camera isn't on. but still. i think this lifestyle is all fun and games..... until you get kids in the picture.

i dont think it matters if your son atlas (the 2 year old) and your son ashwaganda (the baby) really see dolphins up close in the atlantic ocean vs an aqaurium or on a doplhin cruise back in australia. they do NOT need "real world living" at goddamned 2 YEARS OLD AND 6 MONTHS OLD!!!! they are CHILDREN. they need other kids to be around.... and in their immediate family back in australia...... not just with their parents..... and random kids that they might meet in whatever country you've sailed to.... for like a week. before you claim "it's been too long since we've had our sea legs and we're so restless to get back on the water to BE FREE and away from the hustle and bustle of *insert city here*.... even if it WAS a welcoming break for mummy and daddy. since daddy had the boys over in bali and mummy shoved you off on grandma while we had a retreat in bali."

it's just beyond me that they're selling themselves as an aspirational couple and how "to break free of the mainland of your country and trust your gut for family!!! be self-sufficient today and live the free-roaming, real world, carefree catamaran adventurer/vagabond life today with your kids in tow!!!!" NO!!! i can just imagine how much your kids will hate you if you continue to live this life when they're older than 2 years old and 6 months old.

I do agree and I don't really want to derail the point that OP was making but I do feel like sometimes people underplay just how weird the wife thing came across too. and y'know, I don't think it's worse than the transphobia platforming, but it's...

I mean, the core of it to me will always have been the joke about his wife being a bitch, partially because he starts that joke off saying 'i'm going to be (playfully) racist' and then of course in that joke he says basically 'the one thing my wife asked me not to do was call her a bitch' and then he calls her a bitch? And specifically brings up that she's Jewish?

It's the problem of like, it's not good in hindsight, and there's something so irritating to me about the guy who wants so badly to be branded as the Wife Guy and yet feels like a marvel movie the way he keeps winking and nodding to the audience like it's a sin to be sincere.

And part of it's like... when I was younger, I listened to a lot of Christian music (which was generally bad for my health) but one of the artists I really loved was very much the Wife Guy, he wrote a bunch of songs about how much he loved his wife, about how he dropped everything and moved states just to get closer to her before they even started dating, etc etc, and the culmination was an album titled 'I was wrong, I'm sorry, and I love you' that kind of continued the trend. He also wrote a lot of songs about how the church (and believers) are Christ's bride and shit like that, lyrics like "I am a whore I do confess, I'll put you on just like a wedding dress and I'll run down the aisle"

Where it's just... when you find out he was cheating on his wife, especially during writing the album I was wrong I'm sorry and I love you, it's hard not to start making connections, y'know?

And I think we should allow people to be messy and make mistakes etc etc but I really don't like that the guy had a famous joke calling his wife a jewish bitch, and I really don't like it that then him and his wife got a divorce. It makes me start asking questions like 'was this actually a workshopped joke that his wife agreed to?' and 'even if it WAS, did she agree to it because she genuinely thought it was funny and a good joke or because she felt like she had to?'

And I don't like asking those questions because that's a personal and private thing, and I don't like that 'John Mulaney Loves His Wife So Much (And She's A Bitch)' became marketing. It's a problem with stand-up comedians to a certain extent where it's like 'haha funny joak' and then the truth comes out, y'know? Like haha louis ck sure had a bunch of jokes about masturbating in front of people... haha bo burnham sure had a lot of jokes about how he hates the audience and performing...

And again like, is it worse than the transphobia? Absolutely not. Am I avoiding putting all this on OP's post because I don't want them to feel like I'm saying 'but actually I still hate him for getting a divorce'? Absolutely.

Marriages don't always last, and I'm genuinely grateful that both divorce is an option that people are allowed, and one that has become more normalized (and should be even more normalized), but there is a certain point where, when Talking About How Much You Love Your Wife becomes content, when it becomes something you sell, it makes me really uncomfortable. I can't help but draw lines between like, family vloggers who exploit their children for content, or tradwife shit where inherently they have to be happy and perfect wives as part of the Brand.

And y'know, partially I wish we as audiences were less parasocial, that we didn't put people on a pedestal like 'damn I wish I could find a love like that', I think we should stop giving a shit who Taylor Swift is dating (and instead care more about her taking a private jet for every errand), but also we need to stop making this shit Content. People need to stop selling themselves, stop marketing themselves, as 'guy who really loves his wife.'

At the end of the day, I don't hate john mulaney for getting a divorce, or for cheating on his wife or not, I hate that he got paid a lot of money to stand up on stage and say to a huge audience 'aren't I so cool and good for being able to love my bitch jew wife.'

I hate that every time I think about it I think about what it must have felt like to be his wife watching it.

I have a bit of a problem with Louis from IWTV show. The actor is great, I understand why they didn't want him to own a plantation, since this fact never challenge Louis in the book. But why making him a pompe? Maybe it's because I'm not American, it's still exploitation of people and in Louis's case exploitation of black women's body. It's never challenge in the show. We lost a major black female character and honestly there isn't any other main female character, I feel likethis show hate WoC.

So... I'm not black but I do go into the iwtv tag often to reblog Louis often. Because I'm not black I invite anyone to send us link to Black bloggers/vloggers that are talking about Claudia's treatment and her racebending in the show.

However! I kinda feel like Louis was always supposed to be complex and even contradictory. Like in the books Louis is a white plantation owner but he's often described as "the most human of us all" all being vamps.

Its hard to convey how insidious it was to read about a plantation owner being so humane as a young teen (I first picked up the books as a 14yo). I don't think I truly understood how vile Anne Rice was for romanticising a white plantation owner until I was at least out of high school. They do try to make show!Louis more sympathetic in the sense that he was trying to sustain his family. Book!Louis didn't really even have that to humanize him tbh. he was born into a plantation family and never questioned it.

As for show!Louis being a pimp its been a while but I don't really think he was the type to abuse his sex workers. you have to understand that even in the movie adaptation Louis was abusive of his slaves. I'd say they've made show!Louis a much milder contradiction.

Part 21

....Ok, so much for beautiful new beginning.

...Once upon a time I'd have believed Tiana's childhood friend Charlie really was happy, but knowing that these two are struggling and Charlie has a grudge against Tiana, this seems a little sus.

Well I hate to break it to you both, but Tiana is much to autistic and in love with Hanabi for either of these things to be real.

Though since Tiana was still working the barista job, she didn't get to see Hanabi as much as she wanted to.

Hanabi meanwhile, with her father's support, had gotten a new job as a simfluencer! Specifically a beauty vlogger.

But uhh... it was a tough gig, when her video background was her pajamad girlfriend complaining about her potions not working out.

Bit hey, she got some amazing meals out of it!

And Tiana was more than happy to indulge Hanabi's frog-catching hobby. She had like 18 frogs.

So once Hanabi got her own office and Tiana moved her activities fully to the kitchen, everything was going swimmingly for the happy couple!

With a home-life disaster averted, it was time to tackle the work-life disaster...

Tiana kept having to remind herself that this wasn't a magical movie where she opened the restaurant and everything was perfect and everyone loved it. There would be a lot of trash-clean up before she got more stars.

She just hoped the one-star reviews would magically disappear...

This has been delayed but I finally have more profiles of characters for 'Hunted Butterfly. This time it will be grouped on characters from Salem's planet although I'm splitting it into two as there are more antagonists/neutrals on Salem's planet than anywhere else.

This post is focusing on the protagonists.

First profile of this post is Alexandra Genov or more commonly known as Alex. He is one of Salem's closest allies as well as a well-known vlogger and free-lance photographer of his home planet, in fact he's got fans from outside his planet as Chiro is a fan of their work, I suppose in a way they're a form of 'idol'.

Alex is seen often around their home planet, but his usual places are Salem's cave, his dad's work, and some cafes. Since meeting the Hyperforce, Alex sometimes accompanies Salem on visits to Shuggazoom for his vlogs or just to see his newfound friends.  A note to add is that Alex is trans, born female and transitioning to male. Their 'new' name is their nickname which Alex is referred to as well as written with both he/him and they/them, it a personal preference for Alex that everyone uses. 

Alex is a very work driven but energetic person, finding information that is true while having fun. Alex is pretty much his father's copy as they act alike and have similar interests, Alex loathes his mother due to a lot of bad actions from her that she is still doing today. Alex is not easily scared or fazed due to the 'scary' things he saw as a kid, they're friends with Salem after all so he would naturally get used to it.  Alex didn't have a clue about the original Hyperforce team until he met them in the series; Alex only knew about Salem and the monkeys on Ezaria, they didn't really question it to be fair and only questioned when he felt was a relevant time.

Alex was created to show more characters Chiro's age and for me to explore more aspects of the LGBTQ+ community as I have never had a trans character before.

Next is Salem's creator and one of the head scientists of his home planet; Dr Murad Iwasaki. He focuses on a range of areas in science as he couldn't pick which one he preferred.

Dr Iwasaki is a very introverted being, preferring to be left to his projects than interact with others but no one really stops him since it is what he prefers. He is usually seen in the lab part of Salem's cave as his home and occasionally in the royal labs for meetings with his fellow scientists.  He is one of the other individuals who worked with the Alchemist and Professor Dominic. Unlike Professor Dominic, he had an inkling of an idea about the project's true intentions since his home planet are very aware about Dark Ones and detected their energies from the Alchemist, despite this he became very invested in Salem's development. The full truth was shown to him by Professor Dominic after the said man 'snooped' into the notes, Salem at this point was infused with the DNA that he has now, and Dr Iwasaki had to do a lot of work to stabilise him. Dr Iwasaki never exactly claimed Salem as his son but still loved him as family so rightfully took him to protect him and hopefully stabilise his condition further.

Dr Iwasaki is a hardworking and dedicated man who, while having his blunt and sarcastic moments, is a very chill-going man with good humour and welcoming personality. He's well likeable by those around him despite his bad habit of overworking and neglecting himself clearly annoying others but that's because they care. He's seen a lot of things, so he's not so easily scared or fazed by the 'scary' things on his home plane, Dr Iwasaki has seen all of Salem's 'dark' moments and stayed with him throughout his episodes, so he is unfazed by things. Speaking of Salem, Dr Iwasaki was honest about his origins and potential abilities from the start, he hated the idea of lying about something so serious since he thought that the sooner Salem knew, the more time he has with learning how to control his abilities.  He's probably the oldest human character in the cast so he's not always going to be at the frontlines or be doing dangerous jobs without someone with him. Dr Iwasaki is honest with the fact that he has never been physically active, he was always healthy but was never into sports.

He may not be seen a lot in the story due to his general personality and personal focus on work. Dr Iwasaki was basically created as the other person who worked with Professor Dominic and the Alchemist.

Next is someone who grew to become a personal favourite, Reynold Salem Nystrom Jr. or more commonly known by his nickname Rain; He is Salem's godson who has his middle name in honour of him. Rain is currently under a year old but has shown great promise in his future, this is due to him developing faster than the average baby since he is very smart and interestingly has some form of sensory tracking that Salem hopes that he develops more as he gets older.

Since he is a baby and has close connections to Salem, he usually at home with his mother within Salem's cave. His father isn't around sadly due to a tragic event that took his father's life while saving others, Rain was named after his father to honour him as well as give Rain another form of connection to the father since Rain looks like him. He is never referred to by his full name and is always called by his nickname to avoid confusion. 

Rain is an infant, so he is naturally naive and oblivious to his surroundings. However, that does not make him unintelligent, in fact he is highly intelligent for his age since he is learning how to talk (Although it isn't perfect as anyone just older than him) and has recently in the story started to crawl. He is still under a year old too.  

In recent days he has shown to be able to sense others through ‘Aura Tracking’ which is very impressive as neither of his parents have this ability, they had more spatial awareness than most people there is no denying that, but Rain has a more acute ability to sense others as he can easily find Salem. Although he has shown to be better at sensing more ‘darker’ auras since Salem is easy for him to find and occasionally, he can sense the rest of Hyperforce team when they are going through a negative emotion. There has already been plans made for Rain to learn how to control this ability better when he gets older, he would have Salem and/or Antauri teaching him. 

He is a lot more significant that originally intended, especially in terms of Salem's character and Chiro's family relations.

Next is some we owe for Rain's existence; Mari (She was formally Winship before her marriage so her last name is Nystrom). She is an old friend of Salem so is one of his most trusted allies as well as the one who named Salem as Rain's godfather.

Mari is seen around Salem’s home planet with Rain by her side, she lives in Salem’s cave due to Salem’s personal fears of people going after her because of her connections to him. She has been working some small part-time jobs that consist of organising files for Alex’s dad (Who you will see soon), she doesn’t really work since she’s occupied with raising Rain. 

It's hard to not say that she wasn’t born to be a mother as she’s always had a mother vibe to her, even before Rain was born. Mari is a truly kind, patient and understanding woman who's compassionate and understanding nature make her easily approachable and in a way easy to befriend. It’s hard to anger her but Mari can hold her ground if needed and has had her rare moments of explosions which are scary calm furies, these moments can come about when someone is threatening or insulting any of her loved ones (Mari unleashed one of these on her own mother when the woman insulted Salem and her choice of Rain’s name). 

Mari’s strength mainly comes from her emotional capabilities that are just natural to her, she’s not really a fighter but does what she can to help by learning first aid and being the voice of reason when needed.

I really liked Mari and see her as a definition of what a strong motherly character is.

Lastly for this post we have Cathan Genov, Alex's biological father and someone who is very experiences in his line of work. He is a photographer, journalist, photojournalist, and interviewer while also helping Alex with his vlog; His mission is to ensure that the public has the correct/true information about anything.

He is close ally and supporter of Salem where he has even gone so far that he works hard to keep a positive image on Salem, something the said monkey is a bit against as he personally doesn't care about his reputation.

While Alex is practically a copy of Cathan, the said man is a lot calmer and chill going while having his cynical moments and having moments where his instincts take over his logic. Despite him usually being a calm individual, Cathan can fall to violence when seriously angry especially when it comes to Alex as he is very protective over his child. 

Compared to most humans, he is armed with a firearm and may be the only one to always have it on him. Cathan’s job can get dangerous at times, so he has a weapon for self-defence purposes, he has never used it as offence/to intentionally harm anyone. If it does come to having be on the offence, Cathan knows self-defence, so he will be ok.

I felt that the show lacked in more human father figures so Cathan was my personal take on a human father figure while keeping a young concept as he is still young in a way. He was inspired by Frank West from the ‘Dead Rising’ franchise, his outfit is a form of homage to the character but with some personal changes to create individuality. 

In the series, there will be flashbacks to better explain all their stories and the events of the story that will better tell their characters.

I will reveal more about them at a later date.

I need to design and make the profiles for the more antagonistic/neutral characters.

I'm a good samaritan... I was able to lend money without expecting a payment coz I know the situation but that was an extra money...

Rain

TW: talk of infertility (small, but mentioned), swearing, talk about sex

It’s not the first time they’ve had this conversation, but with the rain pelting down outside, combatting the sweltering air, it feels a bit like a revelation. 

It had come as a surprise; both the rain and the talk of Elliot wanting kids, but neither were unwelcome. Maja just sips his tea as he sits cross-legged on the bay window, the wet glass panes cool against his shoulder. 

She’s drinking green tea, which shouldn’t make her smile, but Elliot’s talking with his hands about how excited he is, and, god, she wants to give him everything. 

“I don’t think I ever realized how much I wanted this,” he says, wistfully gazing out the window like the rain is trying to get in on their conversation. “Just think of it: a little me–or, or a little you!-- walking around out here. Blabbing about Mama and Papa. wouldn’t it be so cute?”

Maja smiles. “Yeah, it really would.”

She’s never thought about kids. Not for a very long time at least– ever since she found out about her family history with babies—it’s a miracle even she is alive. So, she never entertained the idea, pretended like she already knew her fate, and accepted that it wasn’t like she could birth a child, bring life that was really hers into this world, so why would she ever want kids? But now, with Elliot looking so in love with the idea, so happy and wanting it’s changing something for her. Her heart beats a little stronger, a yearning feeling pushing strong in her chest. 

It started small, just wishful looks at babies in strollers as they passed them in the grocery store. And then it escalated to reading reddit threads and spending way too much time on parenting tiktok: it was a disaster. The final straw was the night prior, where Maja stayed in her office for hours watching some family vlogger talk about the struggles of pregnancy and how she and her partner got through previous miscarriages. Elliot was pissed when she finally came to bed, a grumble in place of goodnight and he didn’t speak to her until she apologized in the morning. 

In her defence, Elliot planted that seed in her mind. And fuck, she wanted to nurture it and bring it to life and do it right. If she was going to do this for Elliot, she was going to do it right. She didn’t want to fuck this up, fuck up their kid. Laying open on her computer screen, a website about surrogates and adoption agencies, and another one about how to increase the chances of getting pregnant with her history.

“Okay,” She says and waits for it to click in Elliot’s mind. She sips at her tea again and tries not to let it dribble through her smile.

“And I know you think we’re too young but– wait, okay?” Elliot looks at her with wide eyes, finally sitting on the edge of the window seat. Maja nods in response, her smile growing a little wider–now tea free. “You want to do this?”

“More than anything, El,” she says and reaches a hand out to grab his. “Ever since you started talking about it a couple months ago it’s all I've been able to think about. And I fucking hate you for it.”

“Oh my god, is that why you cried at the bookstore the other day? It was the kids in the picture book section?”

“Shut up, I told you not to talk about that.” She blushes. “You know… you know it won’t be easy though, right? Like– I have… not promising history.”

“I know,” Elliot squeezes her hand. “And we can get through that. We have each other.”

Maja nods. They do– they always have before, why should this be any different? She puts the mug of tea off to the side and shifts her hips so she can pull her phone out of her back pocket, eager to show Elliot a fraction of the research she’s been doing. Her phone background is a picture of the two of them cuddled up outside the front door of their house. She’d never noticed it before, but Elliot’s hands are suspiciously low on her waist, basically on her stomach. She rolls her eyes playfully– that foreshadowing bastard. 

The phone opens to the reddit homepage, and she opens her mouth to start talking, but Elliot beats her to it.

“So like…” he places a hand on her ankle and runs it up her calf slowly. Seductively. “When should we like… you know,”

“Oh, you cannot be getting shy now, huh?” Maja laughs, grabbing onto Elliot’s hand and pulling it further up, bringing him with it. He lands with his chest at her knees and his face dangerously close to where their kid will eventually come out of. “When should we fuck? Is that what you want to ask? When do we get to fuck again and again until I’m nothing but your sponge leaking cum into the bedsheets?”

“Fuck me, Maja,” Elliot mumbles, face flaming, but Maja just smirks. 

“That’s the plan, isn’t it?” the high of making Elliot embarrassed is better than any drug could give her. “I should be fertile in the next week if I’m remembering right. But…” she trails off, hoping the pause is enough effect for him to perk up.

It takes a trailing finger across his cheekbones for him to power back up. “But…?” “We could start trying now? The rain makes for such a lovely soundtrack, doesn't it?” Maja basically purrs, doing everything to make her boyfriend even more flustered. Planning sex always felt weird– they’re versed in scheduling a quickie in between college classes and important work meetings– but this was something they needed to plan, wasn’t it? They couldn’t just fuck and hope for the best, no, there was planning, there was– there were tonnes of research on the best positions to conceive, even when they weren’t ovulating. There was even research about what food to eat to sway the baby's sex during development, but Maja was sure that was an article she had read about a video game by accident when she was deliriously tired. 

He buries his face between her thighs– but not in the way she wants. “You’re insatiable, Maja,” he groans into soft flesh. His head pops back up, a smirk and a tint in his eyes that’s dangerous. “You don’t even want a baby– you just want to be fucked into oblivion and feel my cum inside you, don’t you?”

“See, this is why I love you, El,” she grabs his face and squeezes his cheeks like her aunty does. “You can dish it out but you can’t take it for the life of you.”

Maja groans. “Ugh– I walked into that one.”

Maja can barely hold her excitement, racing up the stairs with a squeal partially lodged in her throat. 

There is so much they have to talk about still– but surely they can squeeze some fun in between lengthy discussions of logical and very important things. The rain patters against the roof at the same rate as her heartbeat, and with Elliot on top of her, she wouldn’t want today to end any other way.

my sim hates her daughter :/

I don’t really know what happened, she was throwing a tantrum and the sentiment popped up. It’s not like she hates children or is mean and I was not expecting that from her own toddler.

The whole story is kinda random because I had an issue with my save file (for not having backups) and while transferring my households to a new one I messed up their relationships, so I started a different storyline. In that alternate universe (where mcc existed) she fell in love with a vampire but he forgot to mention that and while traveling to Tartosa to finish the last details of their wedding he died thanks to too much sun exposure.

She was left pregnant and gave birth to Leah, which she adored. And then I found an old save file.

It was a bit dated but I slowly updated my sims to similar timeline and storylines that I felt satisfied with. Lina didn’t have one apart from trying to become famous by uploading videos, which wasn’t helping her much. Her twin sister married her high school sweetheart and the guy she liked had a child with someone else while they were dating. Her parents were about to die at any minute and she was already an adult and the only one of her siblings to still not give them grandchildren. 

Then one night, some old family friends invited her parents to their house and after a few drinks to stomach the news that her twin had a girl, she ended up spending the night with the youngest son of her father’s best friend. That resulted in a pregnancy (thankfully), Leah was born before her grandfather passed few days later. Lina, heartbroken after finding him, could only think that she couldn��t take care of a kid on her own. Nathan was a great catch, the youngest son of a businessman and assistant to the manager, she knew what she needed to do and proposed to him the day after her father’s funeral. 

She later found out his aspiration was serial romantic but that was the least of her problems.

pd: I was thinking of turning her into a family vlogger with future plans of beauty pageants or something similar and that’s how it started but the day before the wedding she got the sentiment and then at the ceremony both of her parents also got “interrupted wedding” and now her mother hates being around her which makes me so sad, they are the richest household so far so I really wanted her to be a pampered spoiled princess but her mother needs to see her as an angel, maybe she hates her because she was technically an accident that caused her to marry but in the original storyline she wanted a cute family and I was even thinking maybe she planned the pregnancy to trap him
