BnHA Chapter 275: YAAAAY but Also AHHHHH

Previously on BnHA: Endeavor was all “I’M FIGHTING TOMURA AND YOU CAN’T STOP ME” and set everything on fire. Unlike SOME people, however, it turns out fire is NOT Tomura’s weakness, so he basically just shrugged it off. But before things could progress any further, AFO was all “psst, go get One for All” and Tomura was all “? One for All?” and Endeavor was all “?? One for All?” and Deku and Kacchan, who were listening in on their earpieces, were all “!!!” Having thus realized that Tomura was targeting him, Deku sped off to lead him somewhere away from the civilians... accompanied by his good friend Bakugou “274 chapters of character development have all been leading up to this” Katsuki. Because like hell are you going to have an EPIC BATTLE with the FINAL VILLAIN without him, you damn nerd. Who’s he going to heroically sacrifice himself for if you’re not there?? Hahh!?

Today on BnHA: Deku and Kacchan fly off to battle Tomura after confusing Endeavor into giving them his location (which wasn’t very hard lmao). En route, Deku finally thinks to ask Kacchan why he��s tagging along, and Kacchan is all “DON’T GET ME WRONG, IT’S JUST BECAUSE I WANT REVENGE ON TOMURA, AND DEFINITELY NOT BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT YOU AT ALL, HOW DARE YOU, WHY WOULD YOU EVEN SAY THAT”, which is super convincing and didn’t make me roll my eyes at all. Anyways so then Tomura shows up and is all “EYO TIME TO KILL YOU NOW” and Deku and Kacchan are all “OH SFFKDFK”, but fortunately Gran shows up to save them in the nick of time, because BnHA is literally the only shounen manga in which grown-ups will see kids trying to lead a battle and be like “lol wtf” and actually try to stop that shit instead of being all “what are your orders, children.” The chapter then ends with the heroes doing EXACTLY WHAT THEY SHOULD BE DOING??Namely, having the guy who can TURN OFF QUIRKS battle the guy with the ultimate death quirk! I’m so proud. But also I swear to god, if Tomura so much as breathes suspiciously in his direction...!! What the fuck. HORIKOSHI.

so do you guys think he’ll be able to keep pace all the way up to 100%? I can see this part being interpreted in two totally different ways if I’m being honest. on the one hand we have the more pessimistic (some would say realistic) view that Bakugou is desperately trying to convince himself that he’s still on the same level as the rival he so desperately wants to surpass, but with the sinking feeling that he’s actually not going to be able to keep up for much longer. and then on the other side of the coin we have the more glass-half-full perspective that he actually is capable of keeping up with him right to the bitter end. that even as Deku grows stronger, he’ll continue to push himself and use that as motivation to keep getting stronger too. that Deku isn’t out of reach; that his goal isn’t out of reach

and I’m not completely sure which way this is leaning myself! I personally would like to lean more towards the second interpretation, because y’all know I love me some rivals. and also because imo one of the most commendable things about Bakugou’s development has been how he hasn’t once been envious of Deku’s strength or of his position as All Might’s chosen heir since he learned about OFA. he hasn’t once shown any kind of resentment towards him for it, or doubted whether or not he deserves it. and as minor a detail as that may seem to some people, I cherish it. and I don’t want that to change! but I guess we shall see

so now we’re getting the clearest shot we’ve had yet of the new AFO holes in Tomura’s palms as he gets ready to combine some more quirks. also! more information about the quirks he has and is using! fucking thank you, where was this last week

Endeavor x Reader All Is Fair In Love And War

This fic includes a hell of a bad writing shit show so sorry for the bad writing that you have to go through, I can't stand my own writing lmao, Endeavor is kinda OOC I think.. Idk, I get stupidly poetic at some points and I have weird wordings for some things, Hella long and boring, This is a fucking K-Drama

Bruh like I had about a month to write this but I procrastinated till the last day having only a starter with 2.5K words and wrote the rest in one day, a total of 11K... Bruuuuh if anybody reads this I'm sorry for your time and the cancer.

TW: yandere themes, blood, gore, descriptive violence, toxic relationships, heartbreak, death, offensive language, cursing, just a lot of bad triggering stuff, mentions of suicide, name calling.

This is during the Endeavor redemption Arc about two weeks before Endeavor VS HighEnd/Hood after that Manga spoilers start.. If you get to that point tho, you're close to the end congrats you made it.

Reader is an independent person with a strong personality, she's strong willed and arrogant, you can say she's a more mature Bakugou with common sense lmao

This Will Contain Manga Spoilers

You yawned in boredom trying to stay awake, your eyes briefly glancing at the person who's currently speaking to all the pro heroes sitting in the room, hero commission meetings weren't only boring, they were also a waste of time you could've been patrolling and stopping villains saving civilians, but no you had to go to a different city for the meeting 'didn't these old hags and geezers hear of online meetings? We could've saved a lot of time if we didn't have to come here, what is this the 21st century?' you thought as your eyes drifted towards him, the guy who easily made your cold heart beat erratically.

Endeavor sat there not showing any emotion other than his normal intimidating expression his presence was impossible to ignore with his aura and signature flames, you could tell he didn't want to be here either but he did his hero work dutifully, your eyes trailed over his strong arms that were crossed over his chest, what made it even harder to look away was the fact that he was wearing a suit which is a rare occasion but the meeting was formal, the fabric strained to stay intact, you felt that of he flexed or took too deep of a breath the fabric would just tear apart and the buttons would go flying off, you kinda wished this would happen as you let your thoughts wonder.

How it'd feel to have those hands caress your body, to hold you tightly as he lifts you up supporting your weight, how his musculare arms would be wrapped around you as you ran your hands all over his musculare chest, you let your thoughts wonder as your eyes drank him in basically undressing him, you craved him, everything about him, not just his body, his mind, his soul, his heart, his love, you internally sighed, it's not like you both had any chance of that anyway, you snapped out of your trance feeling someone's eyes on you, looking up you realized it was Endeavor himself who was staring at you, you knew you were caught red handed and there was no getting out of it so you went with it and just smirked at him, sending a small wave.

You weren't a shy or meek person at all, you don't easily back down and your arrogance often put you in bad situations, like this one right now were your having a staring competition with Endeavor, a few silent words being sent between you both including him telling you to stop eyeing him up and focus on the meeting and you refusing and questioning why he's staring at you, your silent conversation would have went on if Aizawa didn't nudge you telling you to focus hey gave him a glare "don't tell me what to do" you growled and he just ignored you, looking back at Endeavor he was focused on the meeting again.

You sighed and put your attention back on the speaker but your attention wasn't at him, you started thinking about Endeavor and yourself, your memories together, even tho that was a distant memory.

Flashback

You panted running as fast as you could, the sun was blazing down on you with no mercy, you were sweaty and tired after an hour of this 'dammit dammit this is bad this is such a pain in the ass' "(y/n)! It's over you know!" you heard him call out behind you and started willing your body to run faster, you were almost there, just gotta- your eyes widened as he ran past you at an inhuman speed at this point "dammit! Oi get back here!" you yelled after him as he ran past the line and stopped, he stood there arms crossed staring at you triumphantly as you passed the line and put your hands on your knees panting, you looked up at him and stood up straight, he was panting and sweating as well, him having more stamina than you definitely proved to be useful in this situation "I win" he said smugly and you weakly glared at him half heartedly "damn you, how the hell do you have so much energy after all this training? It's so fucking hot!" he chuckled "I'm used to the heat little vixen" he smirked and you huffed "right right, so what should we do now?the rest of the class is still way in the back" you said straightening up as he smirked helping you and lead you to the benches "let's wait for them here it'll take them along time before they catch up to us" "true, we are the strongest in the class after all"

Todoroki Enji Quirk:Hell Flame, he can create fire out of nothing and manipulate it to his will, it's useful in long ranged to short ranged attacks, while it's a very versatile quirk it has some dangerous drawbacks such as hyperthermia and burning the user. (we know the details ya'll.. Hehe... We're all Endeavor bitches here.... At least I know I am)

(L/N) (Y/N) Quirk:Demon Queen, she can transform into demon like creatures fully or partially (think Mirajane from FT... Even she has nothing to do with me coming up with this quirk) the demon form boosts her durability, strength and speed, she can also create shadow like substance that comes from her skin (this one is heavily influenced by venom yet I had the idea for a longer time and it worked in a different way), while the demon form is close ranged and strong in combat the shadow is long ranged and more versatile and can be used for sneak attacks, it is however weak against fire types which makes for a very interesting combat against Todoroki Enji.... Oi Shut it!.... Oh yeah she is also very hostile!... OI!, she also has phschokinesis and Telepathy

(I tried leaving the quirk blank as I hate it when authors apecify the quirk but I had to when I needed certain abilities for some parts... Sorry guys)

Enji chuckled "indeed" he sighed and looked at you as you threw aside your gym jacket remaining in your sports bra and gulped down some cold refreshing water "damn, sensei is really making us go through hell and back recently" you said stretching "well we're in UA after all, they're teaching us everything important" Enji said as he followed your every move, glancing at him you smirked "like what you see Enji?" he blushed slightly and got closer to you "so? What if I do? Can't I admire my beautiful girlfriend?" he said pulling you into his chest, while you both were sweaty it didn't matter to you, you smiled at him and pecked his lips (you're kinda tall ok, I assume he was shorter than this in high school) "oh I don't mind at all, as long as I get to admire my handsome boyfriend in return" exchanging a few kisses both of you were even more breathless now, just as it was getting more heated the idiots (your classmates) started arriving at the finish line, annoyed, both of you parted and glared at your classmates, while they were non the wiser as to why they were being glared at by the two most terrifying and powerful students in all three years of UA classes, they were deeply terrified and avoided you both in favor of keeping their lives.

"aright class that's it for today, as always Todoroki and (L/N) are ahead while-" you didn't really listen to the teacher talk and looked at Enji "so where should we go tonight? I wanna have some us time before the exams, we'll both be busy, especially that our agency has weird ass timings for summoning us" you said sighing "well there's a festival and it'll start tonight, maybe we can go I know you like those things, even tho they're filled with people" he said, you hummed thoughtfully then smirked at him "you mean I'll get to see you in a Yukata? I'll kill you!" you yelled after him and he only chuckled in amusment at your outburst "I swear to God that jerk has a death wish" you grumbled heading into the girl's showers, meanwhile the entire class stood there watching the same thing that happens everyday that they should be used to it by now but every time they all gawk at your interactions like people would at a very unnatural show at the circus "guys... What kinda relationship do these two have? Are they supposed to be lovers?" one guy asked bewildered "I mean... I think? They're both demons all the time so I think this is demon love?" said one of the girls "this is so odd... They interact like they want to rip each other's throat out" said another girl "I'm too tired for this man, let's just go change and leave, I'd like to go to my very easily understandable life at home for toady" said one guy and everyone else agreed as the crowd left.

A little after you put the last touches on your makeup he was done putting up your hair and put a golden hair pin in it, one that you haven't seen before, you looked at your hair and at the pin fascinated by it "wow, this is... Really beautiful" you stood from your chair and turned around looking at him with a smile as he blushed lightly "I saw it and thought of you so I got it" he avoided looking at you in the eye you went up to him and kissed him gently "thanks love, I love it" he smiled pulling you in a hug, as you helped him with his Obi (the belt) he looked at you with such admiring look "what?" you asked feeling nervous from the staring "nothing, nothing at all just watching my hell queen" he smirked at you and you hid your face embarrassed 'damn him, knowing how to fluster me' "sh.. A couple minutes later you parted, putting the last few touches you grabbed your stuff, phones, keys, wallets and went to the festival, throwing comments at each other like always, arriving at the festival you looked around watching all the stalls and couples and friends going around, it was too crowded which was a pain in the ass for the both of you, but you decided to ignore them and went around, gokmg around, trying foods, sweets and playing games, you getting extremely pissed at some people here and there, a lady in particular who was sticking her nose in your business "you know for a lady, you sure do have a filthy mouth" Enji said smirking "shut it ashes! She pissed me off" you said still angry "I don't mind, you're cute when you're angry my vixen" he said smirking making you blush and narrow your eyes at him "Todoroki Enji if you fear for your life you better stop fucking calling me cute" you said glaring at him, he put his hand on your head patting it slightly "there there, don't be like that I was just joking" you pushed his hand away and huffed, "you're on thin ice Endeavor" you said "is that so (H/N)? Well I better be careful then" he said pulling you to him, he was really warm "yeah you better" you said calming down and getting lost in his eyes as he leaned down kissing you.

Both of you slipped away to an abandoned side of the festival to.. Uhh... Stargaze yeah that... Nah ya'll did the horizontal tango.. Except it was vertical, as he held you up, your back on a tree for support. (I suck at writing smut.. The festival went well You both had fun and teased each other competing over who's best at winning games and ended up going home with a lot of prizes.

Good memories are the best you can always look back at them and smile, but if you've lost the person you made the memories with, then they just become a painful slow poison that flows through you, slowly killing you.

It was during your work studies as third years when it started, you both went to the same agency, while the pro you went to was the top, he wasn't exactly a good person, extremely misogynistic bastard, who's ego is too fragile to admit a woman can be strong, which is why he despised you, like a snake he kept poisoning your boyfriend, filling his head with what he knew would get to him, tricking him into thinking you're using him, that he's getting weak cause he depends on you to have his back while fighting, like a devil on his shoulder he keeps telling him more and more lies, he made sure his plans are effective by firing you from his agency so now, student you had to find herself another agency, every agency in the same area accepted you by looking at your records, yet once they saw the name you were denied, you didn't understand why and remained without an agency for weeks which was bad for a third year, you found out that it was because of him he either bribed or scared all the so called pros from taking you, till one who didn't give a shit about him accepted you, the problem was, that you were four cities apart from Enji, which put the long distance strain on your already strained relationship.

It was a sunny day, unlike the cliché it was dark and stormy and raining, you both met after a long time apart, and while your convo started calmly, it quickly escalated to a full blown fight.

"YOU LEFT ME! YOU DECIDED TO GET AS FAR AWAY FROM ME AS YOU CAN! FOUR CITIES? WHAT THE NEARBY CITIES RAN OUT OF HEROES?" an infuriated Enji yelled at you, with the distance and how grueling the work was, you two didn't have anytime to meet at all, "Enji calm down for fucks sake! Allow me to explain I didn't have the time-" he interrupted you furiously "didn't have the time? What you're done using me? After everything! After everything that happened, how I trusted you, how I confided in you, how I always fucking ran to you when I needed someone! You don't even call anymore either! Not even a phone call, What you're bored of me now? You found someone else? Of course you did! You can't keep your legs closed you slut" you slapped him hard your hand hurt but it didn't matter, your heart hurt worse.

If only he listened, he'd have known it wasn't your choice to go so far.

"how dare you! How dare you accuse me of cheating you asshole! I'm always loyal to you because for some fucking reason I'm in love with you! You think I didn't try to be around you more? You think I didn't deprive myself of sleep for days just to take extra shifts and have the time to come back here for you? How can you claim to love me if you won't trust me? Both of you not backing down both of you boiling with rage that's going to burn down your relationship like his beautiful quirk, that you loved so much and thought fit him so much, with his attitude and how he's always going forward like an out of control fire, he always seemed like a God of the sun to you, now his quirk was making him into Hades himself, king of hell and death, the one who shall drag you to hell to torment you for your sin of loving him.

"you're so fucking bold pretending to be a Saint! You're a manipulative bitch, You think you can just walk all over me woman? You're beneath me! There's no reason for me to stay with someone like you, who's going to set me back I don't love you this was all a mistake! An illusion I've lived in for so long" your anger disintegrated morphing into heartbreak and sadness, you two fought a lot, and while calling you a cheater and a slut hurt, you still had your love, you would forgive him like you always did, and likewise he'd forgive you like he always did nomatter how bad you both went against each other yes it was toxic, but both of you were broken, and this is how you functioned... But saying he doesn't love you is what actually broke you, what cemented this argument as the worst of your relationship, the end of it.

He seemed to realize what he said albeit too late, still arrogant you refused to cry in front of him "I hate you! We're over Todoroki! I wish I never knew you! I despise the day we met! I curse the day we became friends, you can go to hell!" and still arrogant Todoroki didn't try to take back what he said, and refused to show his hurt over you saying how you hated him and his existence, how this brought back some unwanted memories." great! Then We're over! Thank God" he yelled and marched past you.

Both of you broken, both of you saying things you shouldn't have said 'please comeback! I love you! I forgive you' you internally cried clutching your heart.

'just turn around, fucking turn around, go back to her she's your safety, go back to your angel.. You stubborn arrogant bastard!' Enji scolded himself, looking back he saw you walking away, head hung low, he knew he hurt you, as he willed his body to follow you, reaching out a hand he almost called out for you 'she makes you weak' he heard the pros voice in his head 'she's going to drag you down' 'she's using you' and although he knew non of this was true, he didn't call out for her, he turned around and continued walking, having the same internal fight with himself.

'comeback to me please! My sun!' turning around you looked at his retreating figure willing to calm out for him, yet to stubborn and too hurt to let word out, seeing him still walking away with such anger and intensity in his posture and such determination, determination to what? 'to get away from me? He's that eager?' your tears fell as the pain inside you grew, turning around you ran away, away from him, away from his pain, from his burning love that always felt welcoming now feeling scorching hot like it'll burn you to ashes.

Five seconds

Five seconds, was the difference between them, if he looked at her retreating form for five more seconds he'd have seen her turn around with a broken and longing, loving look.

After hours of walking around aimlessly they decided to go home, well Enji did (Y/N) went to her friend's apartment which she had the key to, Enji sighed seeing the empty apartment they both shared, their home together, after going about their day like zombies doing their homeworks, training, studying like they're on some sort of auto pilot, they went to bed, alone for the first time in years, it really downed on them then, it's over, their home was gone, they both broke down, home was with their significant other, home was were they felt the love between the two of them, as they both cried alone, showing their hurt and weakness.

After hours of crying and begging for the other to come back, they both stared at the ceiling sending a curse to the heavens that broke them, that decided they didn't suffer enough in the past but had to suffer more, as Todoroki Enji looked at the small velvet box he was clutching onto, he opened it looking at the beautiful (gem) ring that he planned to give to her.. Well if she said yes of course "which you would have, wouldn't you my vixen", meanwhile said woman was curled in her bed unable to shed anymore tears, clutching her stomach she let out a dry chuckle that turned into a sob "it's OK my little angel, I love you, I'll always be here for you, sorry daddy won't be around, he's not a bad father I swear, I'm the bad mother, he... I'm assuming Endeavor is pissed from becoming the top by default... Damn I hate becoming Two by default... Well damn... Would you look at that... You directed your eyes back at Endeavor, it hurt, really hurt, hearing on the news that he have been married, you really thought you could reconsile, yet he was avoiding you like the plague, like he hated your very existence, at first you decided to let him calm down and get his thoughts together, then you got busy with your child, after about a year his avoidance to you sky rocketed, he went from not looking your way for more than a couple seconds to totally ditch the room you are in the second you walked in, you pushed the thoughts to the back of your head and focused back on the speaker, and it was time for the heroes to speak, so Endeavor went first, speaking about efficiency and tactics and sidekicks, yadda yadda 'damn I forgot... He could be so boring sometimes... He's lucky I love listening to his voice anyway' you smiled slightly, not exactly listening to what he's saying more like listening to him, next was Hawks a new kid basically which wasn't here either 'heh kid can't even get to a meeting-oh dear I didn't just-... Fuck.... Damn kid is good tho he rose to the top real quick, good for him, if he keeps that up he'll pass All might himself... Now wouldn't that be cruel to Endeavor... And to me... That's gotta suck.. A kid surpassimg me? Heh yeah right' focusing now on other things to distract yourself from your memories you made a mental note to try harder somehow, maybe take on new districts, you were next, after making a comment about how you don't really like making speeches you went on and gave a small (kinda) speech, (can't think of anything) arrogantly expressing how good you are and how it'll just get better, you threw a few comments about being efficient and throwing shade on the other speakers while smirking at Endeavor who glared at you.

"damn I am glad this is all over, I was starting to get a headache" he sighed walking out "it wasn't like you were focused (H/N)" you heard from behind you, turning around you came eye to eye with Endeavor, well chest even tho you were wearing heels and already tall, he towered over you (bruh like I'm 6'1... He ain't that much taller than me lol.. He intimidating tho) "well hello to you too Endeavor, what makes you so sure I wasn't focused?" you said crossing your arms, his eyes did a quick scan of you, you wore (idk choose what you want just make it formal, I hate when authors tell me what to wear lmao...) while you did the same to him" well you were too busy checking me out " he said crossing his arms as well, both of you not backing down 'as always' both of you thought.

"I wasn't checking you out, I was just looking" "for what exactly?" he narrowed his eyes "I don't know, to see if you're still in one piece, especially after all the madness that is Hosu and Kamino, that was kinda a bad situation while I was there in Kamino I wasn't in Hosu, All For One is a nightmare but Stain.... Its said he froze everyone with his blood lust" you smirked "well I handled it" he said growling "yeah I fucking saw that" you said "so.... How's it going? Other than the Hosu thing what did you do recently? And Kamino of course" you asked, he looked at you for a second as if thinking you're not serious about asking him but he sighed seeing you're serious "well, Shoto came to my agency for the internship, the school allowed first years to do them because of recent events" "right the USJ attack" you said.

"I heard through a trusted source that him and the green haired kid and the Iida kid are the ones who beat stain actually, right?" you said looking at him "how did you-" he was shocked then sighed "yeah, they did but because they didn't have their hero license they would have been expelled so it had to be covered up someone had to take the credit, and it happened to be me, I hate taking fake credit" he said annoyed "yeah, I know you always wanted to be the best by your own standards" you said and he looked at you with a soft expression, 'you always know me so well huh, can't believe some bastards actually think I took the credit because I wanted the fake glory' he thought while admiring you 'even after all these years' he sighed, you felt his gaze on you, as you fell into silence, trying to avoid the awkwardness you changed the subject "by the way Shoto doesn't seem like the type of kid to break the rules like that, and wasnt he supposed to be with you?" you asked and he hummed "the other two went there first then the Midoriya kid texted Shoto his location, he just left me on the street and ran there" he said shaking his head, you laughed slightly and nodded "yeah he seems close with that kid, especially with the sports festival fight" you said then suppressed a laugh "what?" he narrowed his eyes at you "nothing you're just kinda.... Funny.... SHOOTOOO" you said trying to copy him but breaking into laughter before that "OI... That's not suppossed to be funny" he grumbled "whatever you say" you said taking your breath.

You looked at him expecting him to be at least annoyed by your antics, yet he had a soft relaxed expression, you smiled at him "what?" you asked softly "nothing, it's just... It's been a while since I had a good conversation with someone" you smiled "really?, well good to know I'm up to your standards" you said, you two chatted for a while after that as you walked around the streets.

Endeavor couldn't help but crave you, your heart, your Love, your body, he wanted it all back, "and then that vigilante kid jumped into my fire to get the woman that was controlling the bees, I can't believe these vigilantes" he continued with the story you nodding "well it is reckless and out of the law to be a vigilante so I'll have to agree with you" you said as you both walked around, both of you having your hero suits with you, well... He just activated his quirk burning the suit to reveal his hero one underneath, now that shocked you for a second, while you (idk however you guys wanna do it, my OC has a pretty small suit... Kinda revealing lol.. So it doesn't take much space.. Can be carried anywhere... She also had it under her clothes.... Its kinda like League of Legends Jinx.. Kinda not totally).

You both attracted a lot of attention, and as always he just ignored them, you'd just wave at a random person, not out of accepting their over excited idiocy, but because you enjoyed watching them fall to the ground from how they're over reacting 'hehe.. Vixen' you thought, as he was telling you another story a bank alarm went off, both of you rushing there to stop the burglary but as you got there the thieves were all on the ground passed out, you both blinked in confusion, with your reaction time you should have gotten here fast "And next time think twice before breaking the law, because you'll find me in your way everytime, and it'll be over before you know it" yelled the hero that stopped them, flames engulfed her in a similar fashion to Enji's, her hair being on fire as well, her hero suit seeming to be the same as him except hers has the top half like a top showing her entire middle and arms, it worked in favor of showing her toned abs and biceps, while it'd have been inconvenient in the cold for anybody else, her flames eliminated that possibility " Fourth Rank Hell Queen Hero Inferno" Endeavor said looking at her "oh?.. ENDEAVOR SAN what brings you to my district? Oh and (H/N) too what a surprise.... wait what're you two doing together?" she asked jumping and landing infront of you two, standing at a height identical to Endeavor himself "pleasure to finally meet you, flame hero I gotta say you're my role model, we have the same quirks you see? You inspired me to become a hero" while you stared at both of them.

Endeavor heard what he always heard from his fans yet that girl wasn't being a fan girl, she spoke with bride and arrogance, she really meant her words yet she was professional and wasn't being an ass kiss like others, he took her outstretched hand shaking it "glad to hear it, more importantly glad to have a fan who can actually speak and use her brain" he said and she chuckled and smirked "damn must be my lucky day, getting such an acknowledgement, anyway what're you doing around here? You're kinda far from your agency, are you on a mission of some sort? Need a guide?" she asked "did neither of you really turn off your falmes on your hands?" you mumbled, both of them seeming to hear you they looked at you "flame heroes" said Inferno "(H/N) you're aware I'm fire proof right?" "right" you said wondering how she made him agree with her so fast.

"anyway... Why the hell didn't you attend the meeting?" you turned to her and asked her, she sighed "I was busy, every crook in the city lost their damn minds today" you said "it's mandatory to attend Inferno you could have left them to your sidekicks" she sighed "jeez Okaasan chill, I couldn't leave, my sidekicks are taking care of some things, there's just that much chaos around" she crossed her arms "right right still-" "besides if I went I would have just had to sit there while you ogled at Endeavor anyway" "OI! ZIP IT KID!" you yelled then glanced at Endeavor who gave you an amused look "wasn't staring huh?" he smirked "don't listen to her" "oh so you did~" she teased "NO!" "yes she did" "oooohhh damn" "shut up, and you need to catch up on what was said in the meeting" "you can brief me later woman" she sighed "ne Endeavor San you were there as well right?" Endeavor looked at her " I was" "great maybe you can brief me too, ne tell me, not that I'm complaining but you don't talk to people that much, yet you're holding such along conversation with me, why's that?" Endeavor seemed surprised himself "me and your mother knew each other a while back we were just talking and then ran into you" he answered and she nodded Satisfied "wait... Mother... You knew Endeavor and didn't tell me? You could have let me meet him years ago!" she said " well we didn't talk for a while.. A few years that is" and as the conversation went on you guys stepped away from the scene, a totally different thought going through Endeavor's head and a similar yet different thought going through yours 'Okaasan? She's her daughter huh...so... Back then... '

FLASHBACK

A couple weeks after the fight they graduated high school and both of them focused on thier careers, she never came back to their apartment, they both had worked part time jobs and full time in summer since middle school and saved up, getting a good head start to their rent and the bills they'd have to pay, they'd have to work during UA and it'll be hard but they'll manage, as long as they get away from those hell holes, the ones they were raised in, wouldn't even call it home... It was hell, and they both escaped it into this haven they shared, well.. Not anymore.

As time went on, and as he realized how stupid his mentor is, it is true he depends on her on the battle field alot, but she depends on him too, they're both the power couple of the hero world Endeavor and (H/N) with how similar/opposing/complimentary their quirks are, they can deal with any situation with speed and efficiency no one else is capable of, he realized how he was a Fool for listening to his mentor, with a determined mind he left the agency after the day was over, walking in the cold weather, wasn't any trouble to him with his quirk, yet it brought a smile to his face thinking about her and how she loved (or hated if that's your preference) the winter, and the snow flakes, how even if she isn't cold (or cold) she'd still hold on to him wrapping her arm around his waist as he wrapped his around her shoulders, he smiled at the memories of them together, 'damn... We have a memory associated with everything' he sighed.

Buying her favorite flowers, a gift that he knew she'd like, at least he hoped she would with how mad she'd be at him, and a speech of apology that he prepared and embarrassimgly practiced, and the ring 'just in case' he thought 'just in case it all goes well, and I spontaneously propose I have the ring' he smiled, he really didn't mind if he'd have to beg for forgiveness, he acknowledged that he instigated the fight and escalated it while she was on the defensive, while he didn't let her even talk, he loved his Persephone and he'd throw away his ego for her.

Arriving at her house he sighed, it's been over a year, it shouldn't have taken me so long he thought, as he sighed going up the small steps and raising his hand to knock, he saw something that made him freeze on the spot, like his blazing quirk was replaced with ice, through the window by the door, he saw his beloved, as beautiful as ever with a child in her arms, an infant, a very small one at that, she smiled at the baby in her arms as she cooed softly for it, he couldn't see them clearly but there was someone sitting on the other side of the couch, 'no... That's not it, she's just babysitting or holding the baby for one of her stupid friends' he thought trying to convince himself that it's not true, as his thoughts raced he was interrupted by the cries of the child, he watched them again as she pulled the child closer to her chest giving it her nipple as it started feeding and stopped crying, it hurt hurt like having every bone in his body broken, hurt like he overheated himself 10 times over, hurt like acid running through his veins, with all the pain and heartbreak all common sense escaped him, that the child may be his, it looks like it's a couple months old, he failed to notice that the shadow of the unknown third party is her annoying cheerful friend who for some reason have always been at their home, she didn't even chatter with them she would just stay there with them. (best friends be like... Your home is my home too ha).

Turning around he walked down the steps, his fury so intense that his quirk burned uncontrollably disintegrating the gifts he brought for her, except a single red rose that he had added to the flowers collection ironically due to a comment about his hair from her, the red rose had Slight burns on it and it laid on top of snow covered in ashes.

Five Seconds

Five seconds, If you looked at the window by the door five seconds earlier you'd have seen him.

Noticing a sudden brightness that disappeared outside your friend looked at you questioningly, the light seemed to grab your little girl's attention as she stopped crying becoming fuzzy as she twisted around in your arms reaching her hands up curling her hands in a graby motion, you shushed her as your friend went to check.

Walking outside (F/N) saw the rose and the ashes she realized what might happened, and as she contemplated it she realized that if (Y/N) finds this she'll be broken again, she'll go after him and he won't even let her explain, they'll fight again and he'll abandon her again, seeing her broken for the first time was painful enough, she sighed picking up the rose and tucking it away in her jacket creating a wind draft that blew the ash covered snow away "what is it?" came your voice from being her "is something out there?" you asked looking at her "no... Its nothing" she said closing the door.

Shrugging you went back to calming down your baby "you look so much like your daddy, my sweet little burning flame, my Kouen" you sang to her softly putting her to sleep, she had her dad's hair and eyes, she was stubborn even as a baby, she was born prematurely and heavily underweight, which is why she looks so small for a 6 months old, the doctors told you she might not make it but as you spoke to her daily in the incubator, telling her to fight and live, she kept fighting and you managed to return home with your baby, your reminder of your lover, such an amazing thing you two created, oh how you wished she met her dad, how you wished to see him carry her "you are looking for him aren't you? You're wondering where daddy is, God you'd have been such a daddy's girl" you cried as you talked to her.

If only... If only he rang the bell that day, if only your friend told you what she found then maybe, maybe it'd have gone differently.

By now you had walked to Inferno's agency and went to her office (look ya'll gonna be having some conversations that don't belong in the streets OK? OK)

"So Okaasan?" he asked "hm? Oh right, (H/N) is my mother, what didn't tell him you got a kid... Damn that's cold" "hush "Endeavor San did she tell you about me?" I'll try to be the father you imagined me to be a hero that you're proud of- huh" not letting him even finish she hugged him "I've always been proud of you, that's the first thing I told you when we met dammit" she said holding on to him tightly, "you didn't know, when I met you today I knew it's my chance to reveal who I am to you, that's why I told you all that ya know? I ain't that chatty with people" Endeavor stood there not knowing what to do for a second he was shocked, but slowly he wrapped his arms around her, pulling you close as well the three of you stood there just holding each other.

The heavens are done punishing him, the heavens are done punishing you, apparently now... Now you can be together, even if it's a bit complicated.

Kouen met Shoto and apparently they both bonded, in some weird way, Natsou and Fuyumi as well "well we lived in the same house as him yet we didn't see him so there isn't a difference between us at all" Natsou scoffed "Natsou that's not appropriate! Come on" Fuyumi said "it's OK, Fuyu don't worry about it" Kouen said "he's stating his opinion" they all talked for a while before Kouen had to excuse herself "sorry guys I have to go, I have a meeting with Hawks and Dad in Kyushu, you guys are going to your mom right? Want me to drop you off?" she asked "no it's OK we got it" Natsou said "You don't wanna be late for meeting up with Hawks right Ne-chan?" Fuyumi teased making the older girl go red "O...Oi shut it... I'm going to meet dad not that fried chicken" he flames turning on Fuyumi giggled as Natsou wiggled his eyebrows "ah huh right right, more like a hot fried chicken" Natsou said "JUST GO ALREADY YOU TWO" she yelled making them laugh at her while she marched away from them using her flames she propelled herself forward flying to Kyushu (ya know like FIRESTORM in Flash and Legends).

The attack goes the same with addition to Inferno helping in slowing down high-end when Endeavor was temporarily down, put getting tossed onto buildings as well, and her helping with the flying up cause she's fire proof unlike Hawk's feathers, she separates right before he turns hood into a mini sun, in her fall she notices Dabi in the distance, yet when She lands she ig ores it to make sure dad is fine first, cries tears of joy when he's standing, goes to him and is ready to smack a hoe whne Dabi shows, he isn't fazed until Miruko shows up like what happened in the Manga.

A couple weeks after, Endeavor leaves the hospital, While Kouen didn't have the same injuries as him she got a pretty bad hit which endangered her life, the heavens decided to be merciful again and let her live and walk out there with HIM "you know, mom is going to kill us right?" Kouen said, Endeavor shook his head "that's what I'm dreading" he sighed making her laugh at him as they both went home, Endeavor still lived at his house but he'd come to their house from time to time, now he went their cause (Y/N) said she'll take care of her two heroes "after she kicks their asses she means" Endeavor muttered as they reached the house, as they got in (Y/N) told them to rest, not five seconds later they both had to dodge the chancla (lmao) "dammit woman!" they both said simultaneously "nuh uh, you two don't get to sync on me! And you two don't get to get THAT injured on me" smacking both their heads hard she returned to making the food as they complained about her hitting injured people.

You sighed making them their dinner, normal homemade ramen for Enji, a death penalty of spicy ramen to Kouen, you smiled softly hearing them talking about how she's too rough on two injured heroes in the line of duty, sighing your thoughts drifted to his other kids and his wife, yes you knew their story, yes you knew what happened but you couldn't help but feel you're stealing him from his wife somehow, like you're the bad person, but yet again what happened to you two wasn't fair, the cruelty of the universe stole him from you so you shall steal him back, you're fighting a war, a war with destiny, and you shall win, it's fair right? Yeah it is, you grinned its all fair when it comes to love "it's all fair in love and war my love~".

After dinner was served you guys just rested all day, with them both asking you for stuff "I swear to God you two sound like whining 5 year Olds" you said getting them another thing, five minutes later they were about to ask you something "next one who asks for something ridiculous I'll break another bone of yours!" you threatened shutting them both.

The window opened as the mysterious figure climbed in through with ease, looking at the peacefully sleeping woman, with hatred, she looked so beautiful, so perfect, so disgusting!

The figure grabbed the woman with ease covering her mouth, as she struggled she couldn't break free, she couldn't move, they were so strong, everybody peacefully asleep, unaware of the horror that's happening, looking at her attacker her eyes widened, she was in shock, her attacker smirked, the white haired woman tried to scream but she couldn't, the gloved hand that covered her mouth wouldn't let up "hello Rei-San" said the (h/c) woman with a sickeningly sweet smile, "you might be wondering why am I here... Well... Let's just say this... After so many years... I've been reunited with the love of my life and I won't let anybody get in my way... You are an obstacle, unfortunately for you... I'll have to get rid of you" you sang as you knocked over the base that held the beautiful withering flower "what a shame.... You were also doing so great... But you had a sudden psyche break.... And you decided to... End it all... End the pain" you sang sweetly, using your quirk to control her, her struggling stopped as she got up quietly, tearing down object after object, throwing around such precious letters that she had, pulling her hair, scratching her self, she looked down grabbing the broken shards of glass, she looked at you with hopeful puppy eyes, too sweet innocent, with such fear behind them, begging you to let her go, you nodded go ahead and she smiled "yes Master" she said in a sweet obedient voice, looking back down her hands, she brought the glass to her wrists and started cutting, cut after cut after cut till her arm was covered in cuts, then her other arm as tears slipped passed her fearful yet giddy eyes, her white clothes were covered in beautiful crimson color, her legs were next, looking at you again "come on baby.. Don't be afraid, it'll feel good I promise~" she smiled again, grabbing the pen from the floor she held it tightly in her hand making a string fist, pushing it full force she stabbed her eye, pulling it out she looked at you "master" "it's OK baby go ahead~" you smiled in approval, with a grin she aimed the pen again "thank you Master" she said in her cute obedient voice sending the pen through her other eye, pulling it out she dropped it to the floor "Master?" "I'm here. My sweet pet.... Now sit there like a God dog" "Hai" "dogs don't talk.. Hmm... Oh I know... We can just.." Raising her hand with the glass she stuck her tongue out, pushing the piece of glass through she cut through it till it was off, vocal cords next, somehow knowing where to cut exactly, reaching the glass she started cutting through them, choking on her blood and beading out, she sat there obediently, as blood and tears fell from her eyes, "good girl... Now.. Die" she sat there for a couple more seconds then dropped dead, drowned in her blood and having bled out, as the crimson surrounded her, you almost felt jealous " don't worry my little puppy, you can keep (F/N) company in hell hehehe~"

Going out the window like you came in, leaving no trace at all of your existence you smiled as you looked at the moon "my beloved is mine now... And mine alone"

TIMESKIP

You were sitting in the living room watching the news, this being your day off, you looked up at Enji and smiled "hey my love, come join me" he smiled at you, drying his hair having just came out of the shower, he only had pants on, as you admired his strong muscles he sat next to you, giving you a sweet kiss unlike the passionate ones you usually shared "you looked at him and smiled "what? You seem to be in a very good mood today did something happen?" "it's nothing" Enji answered looking away "I just... I'm happy... You both just sat there, watching movies, and messing around... Doing some adult Tango, you were both just relaxing when Enji's phone rang, you both ignored it for a while but then he looked at it due to the persistence of the caller, looking at it he saw Shoto's number he answered "SHOOTOOOO" you put your hand on your mouth to cover your laugh "what is it?" "come to mom's hospital quick" came Shoto's panicked voice "what?.. Why what's going on?" "I don't know, I came to visit her but they won't let me in, there are police cars around, they're saying I shouldn't go in there" "OK... Calm down... I'm on my way" hanging up he got up to get dressed, you looked at Enji "what is it?" "I don't know, Shoto called from the hospital there's something wrong" he said sighing "SHOTO'S AT THE HOSPITAL? Is he hurt? Is one of kids? Was it another villain attack?" you panicked, he smiled, God he loved how you worried about these little kids it made his heart flutter, then shook his head "no they're OK, they're at Rei's hospital, he said they won't let him in and there's police cars around" you looked at him shocked "shit... Something happened yesterday, during the night, we're not sure what may have triggered her but-" the Doctor was evading, getting impatient Natsou stormed past the guards taking them by surprise unable to stop him, like a domino effect, he was immediately followed by his siblings, and Enji and you, reaching the room first taking a look inside " Okasa- huh?" he froze, a look of terror in his eyes, "Natsou what's wrong?" Shoto reaching him second he looked inside and like his brother he froze, Kouen was next seeing the scene before her she was shocked, snapping out of her trance just in time to pull Fuyumi's fave into her chest to stop her from seeing, but she got a glimpse, and it was enough to throw her into tears "w... Wait.. What.. What was that? O... Okasan?..what" as Kouen hid her sister's face both you and Enji stared in shock at the scene before you, the scene seemed to be out of a horror movie, a nightmare the the silence was deafening, till a scream of pain erupted from Natsou, followed by Shoto, and Fuyumi, your tears just falling silently "Rei... What the hell" you looked at the doctor grabbing him by the collar "what the hell happened here!" you glared at him, it wasn't a question, it was a a demand for and answer "she... She did that" he fearfully admitted "what?" "the hell are you talking about?" as he now got attacked by the questions of everybody each yelling and screaming and demanding answers "I don't know... We found her like that in the morning, she seemed to have some sort of psyche attack, it's undetectable, it happens to a lot of people from different ages, and lives and jobs, she destroyed everything around her then did this" he fearfully let out "destroyed everything? That must have made a lot of noise, why did nobody check on her?" Endeavor asked glaring at him "I don't know, I wasn't here at night" "then who was" Inferno asked glaring at him "I don't know.. I don't know" "there isn't a single drop of blood in some of the scattered things, the ones further away from her, the destruction was done before she bled, meaning if you Checked the commotion you'd have caught her before she did anything" Inferno stated, while that increased the chaos, it wouldn't change anything, she's gone.

At the funeral, a lot of tears were shed, a lot of pain and anguish, a lot of perfect acting, a lot of comfort for the hurting friend, that lost her new friend, a lot of comfort from her beloved.

If only, if only on that day (F/N) told you what she found, then Rei would have lived, then these kids would have been yours, if only she spoke, then she wouldn't have been in hell with Rei.

FLASHBACK

Dabi stared at the demon in fear as the demon reached its claws for him, just before he was grabbed, a portal opened suclimg him in, the demon screamed in anger, losing its Prey, its OK.. However... It'll get its chance again someday.

It wasn't fair, what happened to him, but she'll fix it. She'll kill Dabi for him.

For all those afraid of manga spoilers today, come one, come all! Because I‘m only up to the sports festival! 😂

Guys, I don’t know if it’s because I’m emotionally vulnerable rn (writing this on the morning of Nov. 4) but I had to include all three of these panels. The face that he makes in the last one just doesn’t hit the same without the full context. I just feel so much for this boy, guys, I can’t even tell you. I’m not an easy crier and I want to cry for him.

On the bright side, I think I’ve figured out what attracts me most to bnha characters--they’re the ones I feel bad for (Todoroki, Shinsou, Bakugou, Midoriya). Well, glad we’ve cleared that up. Dunno what to do with that shit, tho.

THAT’S THE LINE.

I also think this panel looks much more effective in the anime than in the manga, seeing him turn away. But I just love this line. (Here’s an amazing art piece for it.) I think this is one of the best lines in the whole series. Because It’s so true. There’s something particularly heartbreaking about putting your heart and soul into something that ends up being moot. It’s the most painful kind of failure, because you’re willing to throw yourself into it until it grates away the pieces of you, until you’re raw and exposed and empty. And you only admit that you’ve failed once it’s become vital that you do so, because you’re killing yourself trying to make your dream come true.

Which makes me so, so happy for Shinsou that he is actually going to get to chase his dream. That this is his lowest point and it’s only going to get better. Maybe that’s why I like him so much. Or maybe it’s just all the cat fanart. (And because I feel bad for him, rip.) Jury’s out.

Ugh, and the heartbreak continues. Dammit, Horikoshi, I’m sensitive right now! Just when you smack me in the face with Shinsou, you uppercut me in the gut with my biggest boy, Shouto.

Another weird translation choice! Obviously I know fuckall about Japanese, but in the anime, he says “I was angry.” Which is so much stronger than “annoyed!” “Annoyed” makes it seem like petty father-son stuff. But nothing about what Endeavor puts Shouto through, what he says before this battle, is normal or petty. The pain Shouto is in is so real and so huge. And, to me, “angry” already feels like a minimalization of what he’s really feeling, so “annoyed’ being a minimalization of that doesn’t sit right with me.

Because then here, somehow, Midoriya picks up on Shouto being sad. (Looks like he’s pretty high in the stands, and Todoroki’s face is hidden, so I have no idea how. But I’ll let it go). The fact that sadness is what’s visible to Midoriya tells me that Shouto chooses to accept the emotion “anger” (or annoyed, I guess.) while he won’t face the fact that he’s sad.

I also think that this is part of why I really started feeling for Shouto in these episodes. Obviously his backstory is harrowing, but it’s not relatable to me personally (blessedly). But this is. This is how I experience sadness, or my depression when it’s bad. I keep going, I keep doing things, but my face feels heavy, unable to hold expressions, and my motions are sluggish but intentional. I trudge along nearly numb, but so, so heavy inside. Maybe I’m projecting, but that’s how I’m seeing him here. And I appreciate seeing that representation of chronic sadness.

This is all you have to say about my boy, Horikoshi??? But yeah, once again, I’m learning where all the cat fanart is coming from. With Aizawa and Shinsou both, I thought it was fanon. But nope, totally canon! AND I’M HERE FOR IT. Please let Shinsou and I be sad on the couch together, cuddling, glad for the company, with all the cats on our laps. That’s the dream.

Overall: Finally the things I think I remember being different in the anime were right! What was with the translations in this section? I wonder what the actual Japanese said in those bits is

Also, my brain was real scrambled during this, because of the election I just watched the episode with Todoroki and Midoriya’s big fight so I’m reading Todoroki and Endeavor’s fight like hasn’t this happened? 🤣 I’m an idiot. But yeah, this chapter is a tough one when you’re feeling emotional. Both Shinsou and Todoroki are breaking my heart and I just want my boys to be happy. At least Midoriya is going to help Todoroki, even if he can’t help Shinsou. But your time is coming, my boy!

Waaa, thank you for this loaded ask! I appreciate! Loaded questions deserve loaded answers so I’ll put them under the cut:

What I love about Kacchan? Boy, where do I even begin. Fun fact, I only started liking him, with zero percentage of hate, during the Kamino arc but prior to that I loathed him to the bones (as in, same loathe I felt for Shiga and Mineta). The suicide joke in Episode 1 turned me off. As the series progressed however, I got to the root of his deep-seated insecurity against Deku and Todo. He’s like a big fish in a small pond that is suddenly brought to a pond fitting for his size so is bitch slapped with the truth that he isn’t so ‘big’ after all. That in mind, I began to pay significant attention to his character. Setting aside his annoyingly aggressive/’violent’ nature (which forms a huge chunk of his character’s weakness), he’s already perfect. He’s smart and strong. He is a fighter. He knows what he wants and he’s going to get it no matter what. Zero distractions. I thought, if only he gets his emotions and internal turmoil in check, then I’ll be able to love him like a favorite character. And news flash: he DOES. The Deku v. Kacchan Part II episode sealed the deal for me. The Class A vs. Class B exercise. The Endeavor arc too. Finally, the recent Rising chapter solidified my love for him. I will protecc this boy ‘til my dying day. If it isn’t clear yet, I am a big Bakugou apologist. Yes.

We talking about my husband Aizawa now? OOF. Love at first sight. When he showed up with the sleeping bag, I knew right then this character’s gonna be a fave. He’s a mood. He has a very cool quirk and he’s freaking STRONG, and he compensates for his quirk’s weakness using SHEER PHYSICAL EFFORT AND TRAINING that truly makes him deserving of a pro-hero title. He’s stoic and aloof, calm and collected but can turn ballistic when triggered, but nonetheless remains rational and critical of his and his opponent’s attacks. He will offer his limbs, his body and soul to protect the children because he loves them so MUCH. He’s his FAMILY. Also, he loves cats. Makes me so SOFT.

Ahh. Shinichi my man. I mean Ran’s man. He possesses everything I want in a character, or in a man. He’s one big ball of sweet, cheeky, mischievous, dumb, annoying, respectable, romantic, soft, and feral. His life principle is a balance of idealistic and realistic. Bonus are his handsome smile and smirk; they are to die for. Not to mention how cute and hot he is. SERIOUSLY. How can someone be cute and hot at the same time. Anyone’s boyfriend can never!!

Ran! My angel! Ran is everything I wish to be. She’s tough as brick, soft as cotton. She’s empathetic and sympathetic, but won’t take anyone’s bull lightly. She can read your mind and say the right words at the right time. She’ll save your ass 24/7. She’s literally and in all sense of the word an angel. That’s why even the enemy loves her.

Momo is my favorite female character! Tbh it makes me sad that she’s treated like an underdog when she deserves more limelight, her quirk is so freakin strong! Imagine being able to create something whenever, wherever you want! She’s so sweet and smart and compassionate, too! Ochako comes a close second. She’s not just some ball of cute and sunshine! She’s! Daring! Capable! Wouldn’t back down from a rival/enemy! Can hurl your ass to space when required!

AAH! My top 5 characters are: Bakugou, Aizawa, Hawks, Mirio, Midoriya! (Ranking 6-10 are Twice, Todoroki, Kirishima, Shinsou, Nighteye)

Deku? Oh, Deku is either a cute cinnamon roll or a fucking feral cat there is no in between. I don’t understand why he gets so much hate but I beg to differ. I like him. I mean sure he gets REALLY overboard at times, but he’s principled like that. He does what he does without any insidious, ulterior motive. He saves because it’s in his blood. Saving is his second nature, even if it comes with putting himself in the sight of death. Regardless of what other ppl say, he’s a deserving OFA user.

My initial thoughts on Ch 283 Kacchan’s reaction? Dude that’s the face of constipated worry and horror. He sees his childhood frenemy going overdrive and his mind be running “shit shit shit fucking deku what the fuck are you doing shiT” as he freaks out himself.

Enji froze, fingers curling into a fist at his side, and didn’t turn around.

Shouto froze too, feeling his own eyes widen in shock at the words that had come out of his mouth, at the fact that he had actually stood up, followed his father out of the room, and dashed after him all just to say… he’d do it? He would do it? Him. Shouto Todoroki. He would--

Enji finally turned around and fixed Shouto with an expression so scathing, Shouto had to fight to keep his chin raised. “You’ll marry the Barbarian King.”

Shouto blinked. “Yes.”

I came across this story earlier in the year and almost didn’t give it a chance because it centered around TodoBaku. I am so glad that I did though. It is so well written and captivating.

The setting is a marriage for diplomatic ties. Shouto is a 20-year-old prince of the Endeavor kingdom and Katsuki is the 28-year-old King of the Outlands’ unified tribes. Shouto volunteers to go in his sister Fuyumi’s place as Katsuki’s spouse. He’s worried about what the “barbarian” would do to her in general and afraid that she couldn’t carry out their father’s spy mission. Because ya know why would Enji ever NOT be a conniving asshole?!

Shouto A recurring theme is that Shouto doesn’t understand why the Outlanders’ customs are so different from his. He was raised to live his life in such a regimented way that it confuses and stresses him out to lose the predictability.

He doesn’t like people in his space and doesn’t like to be touched. A defense mechanism from his childhood that is constantly tested because the Outlanders are a VERY touchy feely people. It’s hard for Shouto and the Outlanders to understand this difference and Shouto snaps a lot early in the story.

Something I love about this story, though, is that it is a story of Shouto’s personal growth. He learns to open up to people, that he’s worth more than his father ever allowed, that he’s worthy of love and friendships and that it’s ok to be FREE.

Shouto & Katsuki When Shouto first meets Kastuki he THINKS that Katsuki is just like his father, evil and cruel. Immediately, the barbarians threw him for a loop when Katsuki flew in on an effing DRAGON and then they all get excited when Shouto loses his shit and lashes out with his magic. Over time he realizes that Katsuki just pretends to be cruel but is a caring man.

Shouto discovers that he is Katsuki’s FOURTH spouse and the others (Kirishima, Mina and Denki) he married for love and not political gain. Shouto struggles to figure out how to fit in when he feels no love for Katsuki and has to live in a shared room with everyone. Katsuki treats him with kind acts but Shouto is so convinced that he’s being conniving. He’s never known a kind act without a trick at the end and very few pure kind acts.

It’s interesting contrasting Shouto’s “civilized” world and the barbarians’. The way Katsuki twists Shouto’s thoughts on his head:

The Outlanders celebrate loudly because life is hard and the only thing they have is to be grateful for live;

Their clothing is actually more convenient than the Flatlanders’;

Shouto was taught to not acknowledge servants and not thank them. Katsuki calls him and his people out, “you’ve got pretty formal clothes and your pretty, stupid fucking ceremony and you all use it to cover up how fucking rude and cold and condesending you are.” DAMN! Shouto had never heard it expressed that way.

Shouto and Katsuki spend a lot of time together early in the story antagonizing each other. They both expect the worst and then live up to it. Little by little, though, they start revealing their true selves:

Shouto’s welcoming celebration. Shouto challenges Katsuki to fight him. Shouto gets so enraged because he thinks he hates Katsuki and gets a chance to go all out with his magic like he’s never been able to before. He knows that Katsuki can take it and doesn’t hold back. Katsuki learns that Shouto isn’t some pretty pretty little princess and Katsuki leaves a great quote that describes Shouto, “thought you were spoiled but you were really just caged, huh?” Shouto earns Katsuki’s respect in the end and maybe Katsuki gets a little of Shouto’s;

The fight against Dabi and Tomura. Shouto is badly injured while still recovering from injuries from the previous fight and new injuries. He instinctively protects Kiri with his life. After the fight Katsuki antagonizes Shouto to keep him moving during their hour long trek to Katsuki’s home village for help;

Katsuki repeatedly tells Shouto that he doesn’t have to do anything that he doesn’t want to and never forces himself on Shouto;

The Winter Solstice celebration. Katsuki surprised Shouto with an Outlander version of a stuffed sweet potato treat that Shouto had mentioned in passing. And they danced. Oh did they dance and maybe Shouto became a little aroused. Oh;

The nickname “Princess”. Katsuki starts off calling Shouto “Princess” as an insult but it soon becomes an affectionate nickname.

And the two of them letting down their walls a bit when Katsuki asks Shouto to use his ice magic for fun by making an ice slide. “You want me to. Use my magic. To make you an enormous. Toy.”

Katsuki and Shouto hide their feelings for each other and finally admit everything when faced with Enji coming to take Shouto back home. Enji’s ass with his deceptions and manipulating plans. Shouto doesn’t want to leave and knows that he loves Katsuki. He’s angry with himself for waiting so long, for waiting until they may be separated and never see each other again. But Katsuki finds a way. He keeps Shouto in the kingdom, even conceding some in the new treaty to keep Shouto by his side.

Family & Relationships Running parallel is the fuckshit mess that is the Todoroki family. Touya (in this fic Dabi is the eldest Todoroki son) was executed for trying to kill their mother. He was brought back by a necromancer. Natsuo and Fuyumi were just trying to fulfill their roles as royal children and keep their mother safe. Queen Rei is locked up in a tower due to her mental illness and there are suspicions that it was unnaturally caused. And then we have Enji’s ass throwing his weight around everywhere as is he was the rightful ruler. How could Shouto NOT be emotionally stunted when Enji kept him locked up as a tool?! All he was was something “pretty” for the nobility to look at and try to take advantage of. Sigh.

Touya, as Dabi now, remembers some of his past and keeps hinting at a family secret involving their mother but Shouto can’t figure it out. It torments him to see his brother like this. His brother that he WITNESSED being burned alive 10 years prior. Again, how did Shouto make it to 20 with his sanity intact??!!!

And here’s where we get to the complicated part. Are you with me? Good. Like I mentioned before, Katsuki has four spouses. He fiercely loves and protects them. The first three sleep with Katsuki and sometimes play with each other and the others. Shouto absolutely loses his mind the moment he finds out. Shouto knows nothing about intimacy so he really thinks they’re all faking it and it takes him a while to realize that there’s really love there. And then he starts hearing sounds at night. He’s disgusted and a little turned on and he doesn’t understand why. His puritanical upbringing clouds his mind and makes him feel so guilty for his thoughts. He’s barely touched himself, let alone had fantasies. He’s so uncomfortable even talking about sex. Each of the spouses tries to help Shouto break out of his shell. They gave him thoughtful wedding gifts and tried to engage him in one-on-one conversation.

Kiri is such a loving and generous soul. Oh, did I forget to mention that he’s actually a dragon who can take human form?! Yeah. So anyway, he took Shouto on an outing to an old dragon’s nest where they talked, ate and kissed a little. They had a discussion about love and intimacy and it opened Shouto’s mind to the fact that there are many types/levels of “love.” Mina for her part can’t understand why Shouto isn’t interested in sex and not with Katsuki of all people. And Denki is just a FLIRT! Taking advantage of how “pretty” Shouto looked at the Winter Solstice celebration and giving Shouto his first kiss.

But there is a hole in the family. Everyone dances around it at the beginning of the story. After visiting Katsuki’s home village, though, we learn that the hole was left by Izuku. Katsuki and Izuku used to be together in the early days but something tore them apart. Katsuki has so much animosity towards him it’s scary. There’s so much bad blood but also longing. And Shouto has an interesting reaction. With Katsuki, he was wary and slowly realized that Katsuki’s savageness just did something to him deep in his core that Shouto wanted to pretend wasn't true. But with Izuku, his inherent gentleness made Shouto want to be near him and let him in. It’s a heartbreaking situation because Izuku misses Katsuki and he sees that Katsuki is falling for Shouto. At the same time Izuku feels something for Shouto but doesn’t want to make things worse with Katsuki. It all comes to a head after Shouto and Katsuki’s joining ceremony when they ALL admit to having feelings for each other and it’s off to the races, kids! Cause Izuku’s gentle giant persona QUICKLY fades in bed and Katsuki easily falls back into his submissive role that only Izuku had seen before. Inexperienced Shouto is in for the ride of his life. That second to the last chapter in the story was HOT!! All aboard the TodoBakuDeku train. LOL Shouto “needed them both. Izuku to ground him. Katsuki to make him bold.”

The storyline with the necromancer (hello League of Villains) is interesting. But of course we don’t know WHY and WHAT is the group’s motive. We end the story with a cliffhanger of the fall of the Endeavor kingdom but what’s the end goal??!!! And why did Tomura keep mentioning to Katsuki that it wasn’t time for him, yet? So many questions and so little answers!!!! I’m so glad that the story is continued in “Fire in the Blood” that delves more into the aftermath of the displacement of the Todoroki family and Shouto’s continued personal growth.

so, i made a thing :)

set after chapter 190/191 on manga with minor spoilers (i think) so! beware anime-only watchers!

i wasn’t planning on doing this but then i watched this video (which is amazing and heartbreaking btw, go and watch it) and i started sobbing and writing this... why...

anyway, let me know what do you think c:

Words echo in his shattered mind, over and over and over and over again, like the click of a clock's hands, constant, endless, overwhelming.

"Ugh."

Frankly, it is torture. Shouto runs a hand through his hair, drops his arm over his eyes, sighs. His head throbs, punctures, buzzes; and he is so, so tired. So, so, so exhausted. It feels like he hasn't slept in weeks.

The memory is still fresh in his mind. His father's face telling him that, the way his own chest contracted with something he couldn't explain (if it was disgust, surprise, hope, confusion, or all in one, or something else, Todoroki had no idea); as well as his father's flames on television, burning, burning, burning, the way he had shouted, without recognizing his own voice, without recognizing where all those feelings were sprouting from, without knowing why the hell he was scared of all things (hell, he was talking about the man who appeared in his nightmares, the man whose simple gaze made him nauseous, the man who, for so long, only tormented him and who, honestly, still seemed to be chasing him some way or another), without understanding why he was so hopelessly relieved, his legs finally giving in after he knew he was alive— that Endeavor, that his father, that that man, was alive.

Everything was so alive in his mind, stirring again and again along with the words, bleeding in his chest, in his mind.

But there was all that too. The memories. The vivid image of his father looming over him, the feeling of his own knees on the floor, his own fingers scratching the wooden boards at his feet, the pain in his stomach, the itching of vomit burning his throat, his insides. The trembling of his body so, so small and so, so fragile, crumbling at the fatigue, the pain of his bones, the ache of his muscles. The sensation of boiling water on his face, not only burning his skin, but also his own soul, his will, his mental and emotional state, breaking the last of hope within him; filling him with hate, hate, hate.

"Ugh."

Todoroki drops against the counter, the cold marble feeling like ice on his back. His stomach is starting to twist.

He can see his mother's face, wild eyes looking at him with hate and revulsion. The world around him begins to spin as he collapses on the ground, the knot in his stomach clenching. His chest tightens, the sound of a boiling kettle echoes in his ears, and suddenly he has trouble breathing.

"Oh." Someone says, but Shouto can barely hear anything other than the sharp, shrill screech of the teapot, which is getting louder and louder. “It's you, half and half. Why the fuck are you sitting there in the dark, you almost—”

Everything spins, everything spins, everything spins, and it's dark, and he can't breathe. He can't breathe, he can't breathe, he can't breathe. He is vomiting on the floor, his father looking at him disapprovingly; he is standing in the frame of the kitchen door, his mother looking at him with unfocused eyes, full of hate, and the damn teapot doesn’t stop bursting in his ears.

"Ah." Todoroki complains again, his body curling up, shrinking.

"Oi, you...?"

Suddenly, there is an icy hand on his forehead, removing the hair that sticks on his skin thanks to the sweat that is beginning to accumulate, although Todoroki barely registers it in the middle of the chaos. The teapot...

"Holy shit, you're burning up."

Another hand on his shoulder. "Fuck. Todoroki, look at me.” The hand on his shoulder squeezes, the hand on his forehead lifts his face. "Todoroki." The voice breaks and cuts through the strident sound of the kettle, and then the fierce crimson eyes appear right in front of him. "Fuck." His chest hurts, hurts, hurts; he barely can breathe. "Todoroki, look at me, breathe."

Todoroki looks at the eyes in front of him.

“Focus on me, okay? Breathe with me.” The voice is firm enough for Todoroki to focus on it. "Alright? Breathe with me. Shit."

"Ugh."

"Shouto." The hand on his forehead moves to his cheek, his thumb brushing against his jaw. It's Bakugou, in front of him, frowning. “Breathe; you're okay. Everything is fine.” Shouto looks at Bakugou, concentrates on his hands, grabbing him carefully (steady, unwavering), even if he is being too firm. “For once in your life, pay attention to me and concentrate. Focus on me, okay? Focus on my voice.” Todoroki does what he is told, because all of a sudden the kettle has stopped whistling, and Bakugou is the only thing in front of him. "You're okay. You're on a dirty kitchen floor, and you look like shit, and it's three damn in the morning, but you're fine. Everything is fine, so breathe.”

Bakugou keeps talking, until Shouto calms down and feels like he can breathe again. Until all he can hear is Bakugou's voice, soft and low but so Bakugou. Until he can feel the ground again under his feet, and look at Bakugou's frown in front of him, wrinkling his face inches from his.

After Bakugou checks that Todoroki is breathing normally again, he presses his fingers against his forehead one more time. "You're still hot." He mutters, the frown on his forehead still not disappearing. He moves back from where he is kneeling in front of him, and stands up.

"Come on," he says, and offers a hand at Todoroki. When Todoroki stretches to take it, Bakugou takes him by the wrist and helps him to his feet. Todoroki stabilizes, resting his back on the counter behind him, while Bakugou moves to turn on the light.

Todoroki blinks one, two, three times to adjust his eyes, while Bakugou sighs. "Holy fuck." He murmurs, and moves silently through the kitchen, behind Shouto.

Todoroki closes his eyes and breathes. What the hell just happened? God, that was horrible.

“Here.” Bakugou's voice makes Todoroki to open his eyes, just in time to see how the blond takes his wrist and places a piece of damp cloth in his hand.

Todoroki blinks at his hand, then at Bakugou, and again. Bakugou rolls his eyes, as if Todoroki was stupid, but he doesn't seem angry, even if he doesn't stop frowning. He points his own forehead with his thumb, “Put it on your forehead for a while. It should help you get the fever down.”

Todoroki blinks.

"Oh." He says.

He has fever? Is that why it is so hot in there? Is that why his throat is so dry?

Bakugou crosses his arms and treads impatiently with one foot. That's when Todoroki realizes he is barefoot. "Well, dumbass?" Bakugou's frown deepens. It's so strange how he doesn't look angry even like that. “Are you going to do it or do I have to do everything for you? Are you a baby?” Well, that sounds more like Bakugou, Todoroki thinks, as he presses the cloth against his warm skin. For some reason, it makes Todoroki feel calm. Although, even so, Bakugou's voice has no hostility in it. Not like Bakugou's voice is hostile all the time, but it is much more intense when he is trying to pick up fights with him.

He closes his eyes again, pressing the cloth over his forehead, and breathes. He drinks in the nightly sounds around him, in Bakugou's bare feet steps, and the other sounds he is making while moving around the kitchen.

Shouto isn't quite sure how long he stays like that, but after a while, Bakugou nudges his leg with his foot.

"Oi."

Todoroki opens his eyes. "Hm?"

Bakugou gestures at the door, "Come on," he says, and moves.

For some reason (probably because Bakugou gives him peace of mind, or because he partly has an ugly sensation in the pit of his stomach, frankly terrified that whatever happened before can happen again, and it would be so much better not to be alone—), Todoroki follows him, without protesting a bit, into the living room, partially illuminated by the huge windows that let the moonlight through.

Bakugou sits cross-legged on the floor at one end of the small table there. That's when Todoroki realizes that Bakugou has a bowl in one hand and a cup in the other; he leaves them on the wooden surface and raises an eyebrow at him.

"Sit down, idiot," he sighs, as if Todoroki was really stupid. Although, again, without any heat. In fact, Bakugou is being incredibly gentle. Or, maybe not gentle, but... nice. In his own way.

Todoroki obeys then, and once he does, Bakugou pushes the bowl and steaming cup towards him. Todoroki blinks. The cup smells good. Like honey and peppermint. It must be tea. Todoroki blinks again. He doesn't remember hearing the sound of a kettle, which means that Bakugou left the lid open on purpose so he wouldn't hear the hiss of the steam. Todoroki blinks one more time. Somehow, Bakugou knew...

Also, the bowl has soba. Judging by the fact that it isn’t steaming, it must be cold soba.

Cold soba.

Todoroki lifts his head to look at Bakugou, who has his arms crossed against his chest and is looking away with a frown and tight lips.

"Um." Shouto says, blinking, a little (very) dazed and bewildered.

Bakugou looks at him through the corner of his eye before looking back at whatever is so interesting on the wall.

He must know instantly what Todoroki is thinking, because he says, "You told Baldy a long time ago, dumbass."

Oh.

That’s true. Although, to be honest, Todoroki didn’t remember that.

How does Bakugou remember that? Well, it is a fact that he has a good memory, but…

"Aren't you going to eat?" Bakugou snaps suddenly, seeing that Todoroki is still sitting there without doing anything other than staring at him.

"Oh. Right.” Todoroki says, takes the chopsticks, gives thanks for the food, and starts eating.

Bakugou looks at him, seeming satisfied that he is finally eating, and then he moves to lie on the floor, arms behind his head, staring at the ceiling, saying nothing more.

It is strange that Bakugou isn’t talking (not that he is talkative or a social person. His social skills are even or worse than Todoroki’s, which is… saying something —he likes to think he’s better than Bakugou at it, though—. But, even so, even so, he usually talks around Todoroki, even if only to bicker with him); but, honestly, it is strange that Bakugou is even there with him, it is strange that Bakugou has cooked for him, and it is strange that he is there at 3 in the morning. Bakugou is usually one of the people who goes to bed early and sleeps his eight hours of sleep, as it should be.

Todoroki frowns. Why was Bakugou there in the kitchen?

Why is him here now?

Now, well, that sounded too rude. It is not as if Bakugou showing any kind gesture was something completely unprecedented, Todoroki has seen him show concern and be nice to others countless times after all, even if Bakugou himself would never admit it aloud. He has seen him give tutoring sessions to several of his classmates, answer questions about class, help in the kitchen (he even cooked for Kaminari, Sero, Ashido and Kirishima once; and when Shouto found out and gave him a quizzical look later, Bakugou only said “they wouldn’t shut up about it”, mostly irritated. Shouto replied something along the lines “oh” and they left it there), give some advice in training for some classmates (in a very professional way —Todoroki would be lying to say he wasn’t impressed, but he wasn’t quite surprised either— even with the ‘idiot’ at the end of the sentence because Kaminari or Kirishima wouldn’t get what he said at the first time). And even if all of that was done so that it seemed like he was reluctantly doing it, letting go of insults and looking irritated, Todoroki knew better.

After all, Bakugou had been incredibly... good company in the extra courses of the provisional license. Sure, he still told Todoroki not to walk in front of him, and sure, he still said insults and got annoyed once in a while. And he was as wild and intense as ever (not like it bothered him. It had grown up in him somehow. He had gotten used to it). But he also waited for Todoroki in the mornings when he was late, with nothing but a “you have no sense of time at all? We’re late already, idiot” and a frown, he came back with him at the dorms (he even shared his umbrella twice with him when it started raining because Todoroki had forgotten his, which, in his opinion, was huge progress between them. Not counting the growl of "God, Todoroki, if you didn't have your head glued to your body...", but it wasn’t that bad of a experience), he would take Inasa off him when he turned out to be too much, he would help him with some extra work (giving him notes, or writing them in the margins of his notebook and post-its because "Todoroki was useless and couldn't take proper notes", so he could remember important points of the lesson or see his mistakes in the exercises), and helped him to bandage himself up because "what the hell, Icyhot, what the fuck is that?", "you don't bandage up something like that; you definitely don’t do it like that", “you're going to get that infected, you stupid moron," and "you're seriously hopeless/useless."

So, yes, Bakugou was actually very nice (in the absence of... a better word) in his own way if he thought about it, so that wasn't exactly what surprised Todoroki.

Nor that he was a good cook, he already knew that before too.

But there was something. Not that Bakugou is being especially gentle with him, no. He's being kind, yeah, but in a Bakugou kind of way. But there is something different in the way he is treating him. In his eyes. There is something in the way he helped him stand up, his fingers taking his wrist carefully; something in the way he checked so Todoroki wouldn’t hear the kettle whistle; something in the way he was looking at him; something in the way his fingers pressed and brushed against his forehead, touch almost soft, almost gentle; something in the way his frown wrinkled at telling him to breathe with him; something in the air that hangs between them right now.

And his expression. His expression looking at Todoroki in the kitchen, giving him the damp cloth. His expression as he saw the window and told him to sit in front of him. His expression when Todoroki started eating.

There was something.

Something there, in full exposure, open in the air so Todoroki could see it even if Bakugou didn't want to, but Todoroki couldn't decipher it. He only remembers seeing it before when he mentioned to Bakugou that there was another way to educate children than using brute force, when he had exhaled heavily, shook his head back and then looked at Todoroki with something besides irritation.

"Well, teach me then." He had said, without protesting more.

It was the same something in his expression.

The same something when Bakugou had taken a look at him knowing that Endeavor was in the audience, the same something when Bakugou had taken a look at him after his dad said the phrase that still echoes in his head.

"How is your head?"

Todoroki blinks at where Bakugou breaks the thread of his thoughts, lying on the floor, an arm over his closed eyes.

“Uh?” Todoroki looks at his hand, that still holds the chopsticks with soba halfway to his mouth. "It’s good." He answers, touching his forehead with his other hand. "Good." He repeats. "I don't have fever anymore, I think."

"Hmph."

Todoroki takes a look at Bakugou. His chest goes up and down along with his breath. He is wearing baggy pants around his hips and a plain black t-shirt with a skull in the center. Todoroki almost smiles. That is, until he sees the small strip of skin exposed between the hem of his pants and his shirt.

Hm.

"Bakugou?"

Bakugou growls, without removing his arm from his eyes to look at him; Todoroki takes it as a "what do you want, idiot?" and goes on:

“Why were you in the kitchen?”

Bakugou keeps silent.

One second, two seconds, three.

Twenty.

"Ba—"

Bakugou sighs, and then answers something that sounds like ghskejdrlfm.

Todoroki blinks.

"… What?"

Bakugou exhales heavily, as if being there hurt him physically. He peeks out behind his arm and growls, louder than usual, "I said I forgot, asshole."

Todoroki blinks again.

Huh?

"You forgot?"

Bakugou huffs, exasperated, and sits down so he can look at him properly. "Well, you scared me to hell, asshole, how the fuck was I supposed to remember after that?"

"Oh." Todoroki puts his chopsticks on the bowl. That’s true. He suddenly feels really bad. "Sorry." Bakugou looks at him with incredulous eyes. He is sorry, though. He lost control there. He doesn't even know what happened. Everything escalated so fast...

"What the fuck?" Bakugou says, then. "No."

Todoroki blinks. "Huh?"

Bakugou makes a frustrated sound in the back of his throat. “Don’t be fucking sorry, idiot.” Then, in a quieter tone, he adds, “It’s not something you can control, anyway.”

"Oh."

"Yeah."

Bakugou gives him a look while Todoroki stares right back. Then, as if he could read Todoroki's mind, he quirks an eyebrow.

"What?"

How does he know that Todoroki wants to ask something, it's just scary, and Shouto doesn't want to ask. Is he so easy to read?

"What was...?" Todoroki starts saying and looks at the kitchen. When he looks back, Bakugou is looking right at him, seeming slightly surprised. Or confused.

“You had a panic attack.” He answers Todoroki's unspoken question and leans back a little. Shouto observes the way he is sitting, with his legs forming an L, feet touching, one knee against his chest while the other falls on the ground forming a square with it, one arm hanging over the raised knee, his other arm stretched out behind him, the palm of his hand on the floor. Bakugou looks at him, looks at the table, leans forward and back again. He looks to the side, looks at him again, shrug a single shoulder. It's kind of weird how Todoroki just paid attention to every one of his movements. “Sometimes they just happen.” He continues, after shrugging, “It's normal.” He shakes his head, as if saying ‘eh’, and adds, “Really shitty, but normal.”

Todoroki looks at him, without answering, and Bakugou seems to read him easily again (did— did Todoroki grow up a new quirk that makes his thoughts visible on his forehead or something?); he makes a vague gesture, moving the hand hanging over his knee in the air. “You know, they’re episodes that give you extreme anxiety or fear, usually triggered by something. They don't last long, but you feel like it's been forever. You have dizziness or cannot breathe or your chest contracts. Basically you think you’re gonna die but you're fine. It must have happened because of the stress you went through.”

Todoroki blinks, listening carefully while Bakugou recites everything calmly, as if he were reading it from an encyclopedia or something.

"Oh."

"Yeah." Bakugou looks at him intentionally. “So don’t be sorry, you moron. It's not something you control, and it's horrible too.”

"Oh," Todoroki repeats, and Bakugou snorts, looking mildly amused.

"Dipshit." He mutters, and turns his head to look out the window.

Todoroki starts thinking about how problematic it should be to help someone in that state, and also about how Bakugou was leaning over him, being so careful, with such a kind voice, spilling concern in the middle of a firm and determined tone. He starts thinking about the wrinkles between Bakugou's eyebrows, the way his hands felt grazing over his forehead and digging on his shoulder, bringing him back to earth, there, to the ground. The way he acted so fast and practical.

And then he's opening his mouth and babbling before even thinking about what he’s saying.

“I didn’t know. I'm so sorry you had to—”

"You wanna die?" Bakugou growls, looking back at him with an annoyed expression, "If you say sorry one more time, I'll kick your ass."

"But—"

"I'll. Kick Your. Ass.”

"Sorry."

"Todoroki."

"Ahh." Todoroki goes, not knowing what to say, because that one was really accidental.

“You fucking moron. You’re hopeless.”

Todoroki doesn’t argue with that, but he feels like he should be offended, so he leans over the table to pick at his arm with one of his chopsticks.

"Ah, gross."

Todoroki smiles softly, amused at Bakugou's extreme reaction, who scowls at the stick like it is the very cause of everything bad in the world. Shouto takes the other chopstick and uses them both to take a bit of what is left of soba in the bowl.

Bakugou makes a face, grimaces as if he had eaten something sour. "Ugh, you're so gross. You just put that on my arm. And then on your mouth."

"Are you saying you're grubby or something?" Todoroki says, eating another bite, pretending innocence.

Bakugou looks sincerely offended at the comment and Todoroki tries to hide his smile behind the chopsticks.

It doesn’t work.

"You fuck." Bakugou says, sounding outraged, "you fuck."

Todoroki shrugs. Bakugou shakes his head like Todoroki was a lost cause.

An hour later (according to the clock hanging behind the television), Todoroki had finished eating, and was lying on the table, his face into the crook of his crossed arms, dozing off while Bakugou stared silently at the window.

Everything was so quiet and silent, and Shouto could fall asleep at any second.

That is, until Bakugou speaks again.

"That sure was something, huh?"

"... Uh?" Todoroki pops open one eye, half sleepy, and moves his head so he can look at the Bakugou’s seated frame.

He is not looking back, however, with his eyes fixed on one spot in the clean glass.

“The show your old man put up in the morning. Going as far as using All Might pose at the end…” Bakugou trails off and clicks his tongue.

Todoroki blinks. He has to know. Bakugou has to know. If he didn’t, he wouldn't…

"How...?" How do you know? How do you know that my panic attack has to do with that? Todoroki doesn’t say it, unable to formulate exactly the question he wants to ask is, but something on his face must indicate something, because when Bakugou turns to look at him— and continues looking at him for a long fifteen seconds later—he reacts. He exhales through his mouth, leans back, and looks at the glass wall next to them. He stares at it for a while, and Todoroki tries to decipher what is going on in his head when Bakugou finally speaks again.

"It wasn't that hard, idiot." He says, without muttering, but in a voice so low that Todoroki can only hear it because they are less than a meter away. "You should’ve seen you in the morning."

Shouto lifts his head off the table to look at him. Bakugou's profile is much softer than it appears to be with his usual expressions (a scowl and a mocking grin or a half-diabolical or murderous smirk). While he has a strong jawline, his other features are much softer: he has a delicate-shaped nose, small lips, thin eyebrows (even if he’s always using them to scowl), soft cheeks and—despite the fierce and wild color—his eyes have a small, thin, pretty shape, framed by long and thick blonde eyelashes (Todoroki can even see them clearly from his place, shining there along with his skin in the pale moonlight). Bakugou Katsuki has an elegant and soft face, polished and dainty features. Todoroki wonders what people would think if they could see him as calm as now all the time.

Bakugou's voice cuts right through the air, startling Todoroki out of his stupor, reminding him why he was looking at him in the first place.

"You looked..."

His crimson eyes look away from the glass, the moonlight projecting on his face, on his neck, on the skin that peeks out of his collarbones, his voice spinning in the space between them.

The words hang in the meaair, meaning nothing at all and, in fact, meaning everything. They are dense, somehow, and Todoroki feels something swirling in his chest, heavy and loaded. He has no idea what it is, and it is not exactly a pleasant feeling, but it is... something. Something.

Always something.

Todoroki's eyes flick from where he was looking at Bakugou's half-bare shoulder to his face.

Bakugou's expression when he looked at the glass was... different. More... softer—or not soft but serene, relaxed. Maybe it's the light, or the angle, but everything in him seems more… open, exposed. Todoroki assumes that the reason is probably because he himself is exposed. Much more than him, probably. He feels open to the outside, like someone just turned around his skin to leave it hanging there, as if everyone could read what he thinks, feel what he feels.

And maybe it is like that.

At least, that's how it feels when Bakugou looks right at him. His eyes penetrate into his, his hair becoming a little softer in the light, and his expression changes again. He doesn’t seem annoyed, or angry, but more like he wanted to read something on his face. The way he looks at him makes Shouto wobble a little mentally. Bakugou has always been insightful, and very observant, and Shouto knows that; but the way he is looking at him now is as if he knew exactly every horrible, terrible thing that Todoroki has suffered in his entire life, that Todoroki has thought in his whole life, that Todoroki has felt all his life.

It is an overwhelming, suffocating sensation that burns and opens and tears him from the inside, and Shouto has to stop looking at him before opening his mouth and saying something stupid.

He feels so exposed. He can still feel Bakugou's eyes on him, following his movements, the way his hands grip at the cup that has long stopped smoking, his fingers curling around the handle.

Of course, the cup is empty, and Bakugou knows it. So it's ridiculous.

Bakugou's eyes doesn’t let go and, involuntarily, his fingers twist. Contract.

The silence grows, expands, swirls, and Todoroki's head starts to spin.

"You looked..."

What? Terrified? Lonely? Sad? Overwhelmed? Tired?

All of the above?

The truth is that it doesn't matter, whatever it is.

Somehow, that sums up everything without saying anything. What happened in the morning, their encounter in the kitchen. This moment. Probably his entire life.

"Do you want more tea?"

Todoroki looks up so fast that he can almost hear something creak in his neck. "Uh?" He says, somewhat higher than normal. A little because he doesn't understand, a little because Bakugou's voice surprises him (again) and a little because he really, seriously doesn't understand.

Bakugou raises an eyebrow at him, the corner of his mouth pulling to the side. "Do you want more tea, you deaf dumbass?"

"Uh."

Bakugou raises the other eyebrow when Todoroki only stares blankly at him. He uncrosses his arms, stops leaning back and stands up, shaking his head with his eyes closed. When he opens them again, there is something similar to amusement glinting there, as if Todoroki’s social ineptitude to talk was somewhat funny.

“You’re seriously a dipshit, Todoroki.” He says, despite not a sign of real bite in his voice. Then he leans down, takes the cup from Todoroki's stunned hands, and presses the fingers of his other hand against his forehead, under his bangs. "Well, at least you don't have fever anymore."

Shouto blinks, with an expression that must be comical. Ridiculously wide eyes, heat creeping slowly at the tips of his ears, lips parted like a fish.

It's ridiculous. Frankly. There is no other way to describe what he is feeling. Bakugou did the same thing with his face just inches from his no more than an hour ago. Why does Todoroki feel like his heart is going to rip, tear and burst out of his chest?

Probably the lack of sleep.

Bakugou pats Todoroki's head—like he is a dog or something, as he walks behind him and goes to the kitchen to refill his cup of tea.

Shouto doesn’t know how to explain it, but the sensation in the pit of his stomach is agitated, churning over and over and over and over again, spilling like ink, falling in chains, cascading, pouring into every part of him.

He doesn't know when he stands up, or when he takes Bakugou's wrist in his hand. He just does it.

He is acting on instinct.

He remembers the way Bakugou looked at him before in the kitchen, with—subtle but there—care and concern, the way he knelt in front of him and helped him breathe. The sound of his voice, his fingers digging into his shoulder, barely touching his forehead.

Todoroki's fingers twitch on Bakugou's wrist.

"Bakugou?"

Everything moves in quick motion before him. The feeling of Bakugou's hands, Bakugou's look, his words. The food. Soba so, so good. Hot, sweet tea; the comfortable feeling in his stomach and throat after drinking it.

Bakugou's profile in the moonlight.

It's like riding a roller coaster, although Todoroki has never been on one. The emotions at the tip of his mouth plummeting at full speed, bursting into the pit of his stomach, spinning, spinning, spinning. His heart hammering in his throat, in his ears, in his head.

"Hm?" Bakugou is standing in the corridor, even if he can move with the loose grip Todoroki has on his arm. He doesn’t, though. He stays there. Todoroki's nails dig in his skin, but Bakugou says nothing more.

Todoroki's chest tightens.

The way Bakugou looks at him is with understanding. He looks at him that way because he understands. Understands what Todoroki feels, what Todoroki thinks. Somehow, Bakugou knows. Somehow, Bakugou recognizes, even if he doesn't know the details, that Shouto's carrying things, carrying so many things reaching, spiraling out of his control.

Bakugou understands. Bakugou understands.

Todoroki's fingers contract, squeezing Bakugou’s wrist. "Bakugou?" He tries again, and Bakugou looks over his shoulder at him.

Crimson, fire, ethereal eyes fixed on him. With that.

That something.

Todoroki’s lips give in, and he smiles softly, so small and subtle that it is barely noticeable, that it is barely there. But Bakugou looks right back at him, and Todoroki knows. Somehow, he knows that Bakugou knows. He knows of the warmth that sprouts in his chest, expanding, bleeding out to every corners in his body.

"Thank you."

BnHA Chapter 275: YAAAAY but Also AHHHHH

Today on BnHA: Deku and Kacchan fly off to battle Tomura after confusing Endeavor into giving them his location (which wasn’t very hard lmao). En route, Deku finally thinks to ask Kacchan why he’s tagging along, and Kacchan is all “DON’T GET ME WRONG, IT’S JUST BECAUSE I WANT REVENGE ON TOMURA, AND DEFINITELY NOT BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT YOU AT ALL, HOW DARE YOU, WHY WOULD YOU EVEN SAY THAT”, which is super convincing and didn’t make me roll my eyes at all. Anyways so then Tomura shows up and is all “EYO TIME TO KILL YOU NOW” and Deku and Kacchan are all “OH SFFKDFK”, but fortunately Gran shows up to save them in the nick of time, because BnHA is literally the only shounen manga in which grown-ups will see kids trying to lead a battle and be like “lol wtf” and actually try to stop that shit instead of being all “what are your orders, children.” The chapter then ends with the heroes doing EXACTLY WHAT THEY SHOULD BE DOING??Namely, having the guy who can TURN OFF QUIRKS battle the guy with the ultimate death quirk! I’m so proud. But also I swear to god, if Tomura so much as breathes suspiciously in his direction...!! What the fuck. HORIKOSHI.
