it still haunts me that we never found out who man who made caleb on offer he couldn’t refuse was or what the offer even was or what the fuck caleb meant when he said ‘i gotta go pay the bills if you know what i mean’

one of my favorite scenes of jatp is in the last episode when caleb appears in the garage and luke is the first one to stand up to him, alex is hesitant but decides to stand up then immediately goes back when caleb gives him a look, and then reggie is the opposite of both of them, he doesn’t try to argue right away or stay quiet and then say something… he just doesn’t say anything and starts fidgeting. i also liked how luke looked back to check on reggie cause he knew how reggie gets during interactions like this. i love this detail cause it shows so much about their characters and i hate that we’ll never get to explore more of these sides of them.

i can't remember if you've already told us (i don't think so?) but... what role does caleb play in hitman ray au?

I mean, since the boys are ghosts, he'd probably be his fabulous evil self.

-Can you imagine, like... Caleb steals souls, right? It's super heavily implied all the lifers give up their souls to be there.

-It is also implied that Caleb is essentially, sparkly gay jazzhands as he may be, Middle Management. ("He said Covington, I've got an offer that you can't refuse...")

-Caleb failing to meet his quota and trying to hire Ray to kill off some of his Lifers so he can collect his souls. He hates it. Sure he can make himself be seen by Lifers but he has to act like a Normal Modern Person so Ray will take the job which means he can't even wear his cape and tophat.

-Ray and Rose doing their usual research, finding this Lifer did nothing wrong, and being like: fuck no. They try their usual 'threaten Caleb with the fear of God and Ray Molina's Many Guns' and find out that's a little hard to do on a ghost that doesn't exist. They can't find him.

-Rose's theory is that Ray was being tested by some kind of shady government agency and he failed for having morals. Ray thinks Caleb was the Mob. They shore up their security just in case.

-Caleb annoyingly now has to send his underlings to spy on lifers for Dirt On Them, and then send another one of his underlings to ask Ray and Rose to murder them.

-Can you imagine Willie's first time being sent to spy on a lifer and being like: yeah sure he embezzles money but also he was rude to the maid. That's true evil.

-Willie does not get sent out again until he sits through the Annual Powerpoint Presentation On Reasons To Hire The Hitman On Lifers.

-Yes there's a song and dance portion of this presentation.

Hello! @beencryingfor25years, thank youuuu for sending this! I'm so in love with this AU and it's a crime that I haven't finished it yetttt! Someone else also asked about this one so I already explained the general concept here! But double ask means I get to go into more details!

Alex is kinda freaked out when he starts getting paint smears all over as a kid, cause he definitely didn't do that. His mom is like, "Nah that's your soulmate, this great girl God has designed just for you." Which is highly problematic but gets the idea across to little kid Alex. He immediately latches onto the idea of having this built in best friend and learns to read and write a lot faster than most kids so he can talk to them.

His parents are... not impressed with how his soulmate 'obsession' lasts past first grade. But Alex and his soulmate are besties by that point and are not even remotely interested in stopping their daily pen pal-ing just because of the parentals. Though their conversations move to more concealable parts of their bodies once Alex hits middle school. He hated being yelled at and Pancake (his soulmate) didn't want to get him in trouble.

Julie and the Phantoms gets a gig playing some rich kid's birthday party up in the Hollywood Hills on the same day as Pancake's birthday. Caleb Covington's house is crazy fancy and Luke is freaking out about how this is gonna get them signed. Apparently Covington's son is a huge fan of their music. Alex is kinda wondering if his soulmate will be when he hears it too.

And then they meet at the party and it's very cute and I'm dead!

Here's a lil snippet!

Alex woke up slowly on February 19th, squeezing his eyes shut to keep out the day for a bit longer. It was a Saturday, he could afford to stay in bed a bit longer. But then he glanced over at his phone and noticed the date. Smiling softly, he reached for the black pen he kept on his bedside table, one of many spread around his room and in his backpack and fanny pack. Happy birthday, Pancake! He scrawled on the skin just above his hip. Congrats on surviving to 18 ;-D Love you, - Hotdog He grinned at the message, especially when a few red marker strokes made a little heart beside it. Alex used his pink marker to return the heart, then forced himself out of bed. He wished he could spend his day with his soulmate, celebrating their birthday properly, together, but he’d still never met them in person. The bond resisted any details on location or contact information, and none of the workarounds Pancake had tried had made it through. He hoped they would meet soon. He always fell asleep wondering what their voice sounded like, if he talked how he wrote, whether it would feel as natural as he dreamt to wrap him up in his arms. But his gig tonight with his band would have to suffice.

I might see if I can't work on this one a bit on the plane... it's too cute to leave unfinished! Thanks for the ask!!!

chain reaction nick luke is something i've been trying to write for literally forever and it's honestly just a dumping ground for like a good 80% of my thoughts on their post-canon dynamic. it fits into my general post-possession nick series, a chain reaction in your heart, hence the working title

it's. luke feels crazy protective of nick after caleb, luke follows him around everywhere for a while, nick thinks that's because luke dislikes and distrusts him until they fight about it. they get really close really fast, probably too fast, they spend a ton of time together, luke still feels weird and upset when he sees nick around julie but he swears it's not jealousy and he can't figure out what his deal is until it clicks and he realizes he's still afraid of nick. and then he feels guilty bc that's not fair to nick, it's not his fault, so he tries to shove that feeling down and throw himself even harder at nick to compensate <3 they're a mess and i'm obsessed with them and someday i'll finish this fic for real <333

it's scattered enough that I'm not even sure this will make it into the final version, but it's the most Actually Written bit I can easily access:

Nick doesn’t know why he’s angry, only that he’s overcome with the urge to shove Luke as hard as he can, or scream at him until he stops haunting him as if he has some sort of claim to his life. 

“I don’t need a guardian angel.” Luke flinches back, and Nick hates himself. He never snaps at people, that’s just not a thing he does, he’s always been so careful to stay calm and step back and figure out why something bothered him and come back to address the problem with a clear head. But then Caleb Covington stole his body and he came back wrong and now he’s someone who flinches when his friends try to touch him and never sleeps because he’s scared of his dreams and makes ghosts cry because he’s mad they care about him.

“No,” Luke says, stepping in front of Nick and turning around to face him directly, “you need a friend.”

with the personal belief that Caleb Covington, who

literally owns Willie's soul

manipulates and intimidates the shit out of Willie every chance he gets

manipulated the boys with that whole "here we know how special you are, I know how special you are" speech to butter them up like a whole ass creep

paraded pretty ladies all around them who faked interest in them

(and in Alex's case, dangled Dante and Fuego, who look old enough that I'm Concerned about that, in front of him)

and tried to bribe them with cakes and pizza

and when that didn't work, he resorted to

physically grabbing each boy's physical wrist to forcibly stamp them

(which he did not tell Willie he would do, so let's add "keeps secrets from his employees" to the list of evil shit this man does)

electrocution until death

the promise of fame and recognition for their talent

touring around the world

and being together forever

and Willie

possessing a teenage boy who a close friend of the boys liked

in the hopes of getting close enough to her to take the boys back

thus, hurting her BADLY

after she already lost her mother

and one of her friends started to just hate her

has no conscience and at least some of the lifers in that club, who might I remind you are paying for an eternal membership to that club, might be a Very Dark Shade of morally gray and genuinely not care what happens to a bunch of kids they do not know personally and can turn a blind eye to.

He's an evil man, but evidently, he can get away with a lot by being handsome, charming, sparkly, musically talented and literally magic.

Don't forget he can literally just magic the lifers into being on his side and not doing anything about the clearly underage boys in the club. I mean, watch the TOSOH performance. None of those lifers made any indication of noticing that the boys Did Not Want To Be There. And how do we know he's not puppeteering the dancers in the club?

For all the wrong Caleb has done I feel like this one gets slept on bc realistically thinking about it,

Now, the Hollywood Ghost Club might not serve alcohol but I mean it is a nightclub 👀 also majority of the people there are like adults so there’s definitely probably alcohol being served. Meaning it is illegal that three 17 years were at that club sure it’s his club but in the eyes of the law 👀👀👀
