omg ant i hope this one actually is okay

it took Beatrice two steps down the stairwell to realize that she wasn't alone.

she takes these stairs everyday, arriving and leaving work, going to lunch as she is now - it's the principle of the thing, she'd explained to Camila, citing that their office was only on the 5th floor, besides, Beatrice wasn't one to pass up extra cardio especially after sitting in front of the computer working through feature specs and telling Crimson no, we will not be adding more custom dev hours to your most important tier 1 client who just happens to be owned by your cousin -

she hears it again: a sob.

it echoes through the stairwell, sad and lonely and broken. Beatrice doesn't know who it might be but the sound pulls at her nonetheless, a weight in her chest that gets heavier as she quietly gets closer.

then she sees her. Ava Silva, sitting on one of the steps, curled into herself, leaning heavily into the wall as she cries. Beatrice hasn't worked with her much - Beatrice tries to keep her interactions with Sales down to a minimum - but she knows of her. her smile, her laugh, her sometimes inappropriate jokes, the ease with which she brings joy into a room, that Beatrice has always felt when passing by her in the office. so to see Ava here, like this, is something of a shock.

Beatrice feels that tug again - knows she can't turn away and leave her alone.

she lets her next step fall heavy and the sound is enough to make Ava lift her head, scrub her face, hastily pull at her clothes. "oh - hey, Beatrice, off to lunch?"

Beatrice nods, hesitant. gestures to the space next Ava. "may I?"

"sure," Ava says, clearing her throat of tears.

Beatrice lowers herself down to sit as well, though she chooses one step behind Ava - enough to see most of her face, enough -hopefully- to give her space. it feels heavier here, though, like a storm attempting to swallow her whole. Beatrice isn't sure what to do in the face of such a feeling, sees it clearly even though Ava seems to be trying hard not to show it. but she has to do something.

she lets the heaviness fill her lungs, then thinks of freedom, thinks of air. speaks into the silence: "did you know this stairwell has access to the roof?"

Ava blinks, the tension in her body releasing at the unexpected question. "no," she answers, and Beatrice gets the pleasure of watching in realtime as the words register. "wait are you telling we could've been having rooftop parties all this time?"

Beatrice allows a smile. "not exactly. the engineers found out a couple months ago. they've been cleaning it up little by little." she glances at Ava. "it's better privacy than a stairwell."

the look Ava gives her is something curious, feels her gaze like a physical thing. Beatrice barely keeps herself from shivering.

"sounds like you're speaking from experience."

Beatrice lets out a soft snort through her nose. "you don't work in tech without at least one breakdown every quarter." Ava's laugh is soft but Beatrice still feels a bit of pride at the tendril of amusement peeking through dark clouds.

in her pocket, Beatrice feels her phone vibrate, a reminder of the limited time she has for her break. normally she rushes through it, but she wants the opposite now, wants to take her time, wants to know Ava more.

"well you can't tell from here," Beatrice says, glancing at the drab gray walls of the stairwell, "but it's a beautiful day outside. join me for lunch?"

Ava's surprise is palpable, burning even and Beatrice backpedals immediately. "only if you want, of course, i simply thought -"

"i'd love to." there's a curious, almost mischievous curve to Ava's smile now, something knowing that flusters Beatrice even more.

"right then," Beatrice mutters, standing up in hopes of controlling the sudden blush on her cheeks. still, she can't help the way her gaze stays on Ava, watches her stand - sees the moment she loses her balance.

Beatrice moves without thinking.

the next thing she knows, Ava's in her arms, heart beating wildly in her chest, eyes wide and Beatrice feels herself riding a rollercoaster of emotions: fear and relief and horny -

she pauses. carefully traces the last feeling to a source outside of herself.

Ava's grin is wider than Beatrice has ever seen it, knowing and joyous. "felt that, huh." Ava doesn't bother posing it as a question, likely already feeling the rush going through Beatrice herself.

"i suppose we'll be feeling each other a lot now." later, Beatrice will swear that she meant it innocently, in terms of the soulmate bond in general, but then she feels Ava's instant mischief, sees her grin turn wicked and she groans. maybe she should have taken the elevator after all...

lots of speculation over how round 7 between luka and till will turn out! and its had me thinking about the presence of recurring motifs and how the main ensemble are foils of each other.

i know that many people like to joke about how sua and ivan are genderbends of each other/basically siblings... but in my honest opinion, i think the parallels between the two (similar hair styles and having the more subdued personality of the pairing) are to throw us off about what we know about hyuna and luka lol.

sua and ivan's similarities are to emphasize their situational differences, highlighted by the comic where ivan expressed envy over sua not being in an unrequited love situation (yeah i know that's literally what the definition of a literary foil is, but hear me out LOL). so in that sense i feel that they're not really as similar as it seems?

i personally think that sua has more similarities to luka than she is with ivan, excluding her relationship with mizi. both in terms of their upbringing as being treated like dolls and how their resting face is kind of empty when they're not with mizi/hyuna respectively lol. plus their listless acceptance of the lethal circumstances they exist in

tbh even the childhood dynamic between mizisua and hyuluka (before the hyunwoo thing...of course...) is pretty similar, with mizi/hyuna dragging sua/luka around

i think by emphasizing the similarity between luka and sua, it reframes the events that happened in round 5. while luka probably was purposefully exploiting mizi's grief, it does come to question how much of the cutting shots between the two was mizi seeing sua in luka.

so how does this relate to round 7 between till and luka? there's a lot of speculation that luka will demolish till by pulling the same schtick he did with mizi -- and conversely there's a lot of speculation that vivinos and qmeng will subvert expectations by having till somehow overcome his depression by becoming numb to luka's tricks.

here's a third idea i haven't seen being brought up: luka seeing hyuna in till. i propose this idea because i think we can make some comparisons between till and hyuna. both of them are the most rebellious of the ensemble, both had a tendency to roughhouse as children, and both's choice of music genre is very high-powered with a heavy emphasis on the guitar (i want to say they both have that rock and roll vibe but unfortunately music isn't my forte and i don't want the genreheads to get on my ass LOL).

and now suddenly it feels like the random tidbits we get about luka's interactions with till feels like they're hinting towards something:

It's always funny to me when in an lu fic the chain is offered bananas and don't accept them. Like, you're offering these high energy adventures free food?? Fruit they'll have never even heard of before??? A ridiculously expensive imported good at best?? AND it boosts your attack?

Kaito Yoshida skips breakfast almost every day, opting instead for a swim in the Wakaba River to wake him up. It’s cool and quiet as the sun rises; a peaceful alternative to a poorly made cup of coffee.

After an early lunch, Kaito takes some time to dabble in the stock market. A job though he has, it’s mundane and pays little, meant more to keep him occupied than anything else; no, this is how he earns his living. Money makes money after all.

The lunchtime rush at Ai Mizu is predictably hectic, particularly in summer. Famous for its fresh sushi, the tiny restaurant regularly attracts tourists and locals alike, having done so for over fifty years.

He and his co-workers are cordial with one another, but Kaito has no interest in making friends. A precise and introverted woman, the head chef of Ai Mizu apparently appreciates this demeanour; even going so far as to share her personal unagi sauce recipe with him on the sly.

Although it bores him, he often tries to meditate, a favourite spot of his being beside the old canal near Ai Mizu. The local felines, of which there are too many if you ask him, usually have other ideas though, proving themselves to be rather distracting.

He’s convinced some of them are actively trying to kill him, conveniently placing themselves between his legs as he walks, or surreptitiously hopping out of nowhere right before a set of stairs. None have been successful in his demise as of yet, and Kaito has learned he ought to watch his step whilst in town.

Though Kaito’s face was as recognisable as any other resident in Wakaba’s town centre by now, people were still intrigued by the local who spoke Komorebian with ease, despite being foreign-.. judging by his accent rather than his features at least. Never impolite enough to ask questions however, Kaito was left in peace, which suited him more than they’d ever know.

Loneliness was not a foreign concept to Kaito, who had lived with its familiar dull ache throughout most of his life. Try as he might, his attempts at filling that void had never been particularly fruitful; that was, until he found adrenaline. A band aid of sorts, but fulfilling nonetheless.

Kaito escaped to the slopes whenever he could, becoming rather fond of snowboarding especially; not that it was so easy in the beginning, mind you. But, practice makes perfect and over time, Kaito found himself quite at home with the cool wind in his face and the fresh, powdery snow gliding beneath his board.

Rock-climbing however, wasn’t quite so easy to master. Kaito still found himself struggling with various rockfaces now and then. And though he took his late father’s advice with a grain of salt these days, he held steadfast to one piece in particular. Persistence was paramount.

Never one to think of himself as tenacious or prosperous, he was almost proud of how far he’d come; prouder still of the fact that he no longer felt the need to wave his moderate success in the face of those who cared so little for him in the past. He was alone there as he is here. A solitary existence perhaps, but for the first time in his life, Wyatt felt as though he belonged somewhere. He was finally home.

So what is the Slime AU???

(*dramatic music*) IN THE BEGINNING, the original world that Welcome home started off as, was starting to alter into one sustaining a slime like world, due to

(Who came from a different planet) ((Too lazy to explain lol))

And so now everything is in this "slime form". But, YOU and a few other people/animals/plants were not affected by this slime goober, and THIS plays the role of how you met the welcome home cast. You, now knowing about them, teach them about specific things, lifestyles, foods, culture, whatever is not part of the slime life style, they do the vise versa to you also, which then creates a good friendship between you and them. (Which is now the present.)

What about the neighborhood?

The neighborhood in this slime AU is basically modeled the same way as the original, just somethings are slightly different, designs of the homes and environment. This also includes Home, (Which I will in the future make a template on). All you need to do in order to make a home, is to get the assistance from one of the crew members, which will be easy, so anyone can move right into their little neighborhood! They usually love visitors/new neighbors, are really welcoming and will try and help you fit in!

How do they heal?

When a crew member is injured, Doc, (Frank Frankly), is able to heal them using the same way we in real life make slime, using the same ingredients. For instance, if they were to get cut, or lose a limb, Doc would be able to re-create that limb, or patch up that cut by creating more slime to cover it/or to replace the missing limb. But this slime is very specific, for you could not just use any other slime. It needs to be the same color, same density, and have the same stretch as the original slime crew member. Here is a visual!

What happens when they eat food?

Eating food is one major way of getting energy. The second way is sun bathing (this only works for warm colored crew members, or partially warm colored crew members, which doesn't work as efficiently but still works) When someone ingests a type of food, it absorbs into energy, letting them be active. If someone ingests something that is not food, they usually, well, vomits it out I guess lol. Like if Melly were to eat a rock (which he would) his body would reject it and spit it right out. It does not cause harm to them though, so there is no way for them to get poisoned, but if they go for a very long period without energy, they will die.

Can they melt or freeze?

If they are sustained in a boiling hot environment, they will slowly start to melt into more of a watery texture, their stretchability (yes I made that up) will decrease, preventing them from morphing or traveling. (Just think of those water slimes and that's basically how it is.) This goes the same with freezing, but instead of melting, their slime texture starts to harden and become more chunkier, making it harder for them to move. (Now just think of those ugly chunky slimes and that's how that is.) This can, and is one way, that they can die, which is why they try to avoid situations that lead to those certain outcomes.

Okay, so then what the heck is morphing?

Morphing is a very common way to show affection. Its when two or more crew members/persons join together to become this blob. They will still have their conscious, but will just have the same body. And depending on what color they are, it creates a new color. For example, if a red person were to morph with a blue person, it would create a purple blob. If one of the persons is in a melting form or freezing form, they cannot morph with them, unless they go back to their normal state. This is a very complicated subject, but you get the gist of it, person + person = one big blob person.

Traveling is when someone goes into their slime form and moves around in that form. They can travel through things that are ONLY their color of slime/slimes. Another example would be if Melly wanted to travel tree by tree, he would only be able to travel in the trees that are the same color as him. If someone were to have more than one color, they would be able to travel in those colors, but wouldn't be able to travel at a speedy rate due to the combination of colors that they have. When someone is in their slime form, their accessories or clothes dissolves into their slime form. Its still there, but just not entirely visible. I got these shoes from someone recently but thought they were way too plain looking, so I set out on a quest to customize them with some sharpies and charms and miscellaneous ribbon I had in my craft drawers. follow up thought to this ask. Fic idea around amangela + others filming another tapple video where the tapple thing isn't quite working properly and so there's already been lots of jokes about "not hitting the button correctly" or "here let me hit that for you ;)" or "sorry let me get my fingers in there" and Angela's voice is kind of shot/raspy.

Its all fun and games until its Amanda's turn for something she SHOULD know well and Angela makes direct eye contact with her and offhanded says something like a "here babe- right there-" joke about the tapple button and her voice is rough and Amanda. Reacts™, visibly. And completely whiffs her turn. Angela picking up on it. Angela increasingly directing the sex jokes at Amanda and not walking them back/apologizing as quickly as normal. etc. etc. and so on. hmm. HMMMMM

Anyway, looking at Nexus with big ol' eyes. I hate him (i love his character so much I want to look him under a microscope)

Thougghh some specific lines I do find interesting.

"I realized something. Problems don't need to exist if I get rid of them. If I have nobody to love, I don't need to care when they're gone. So, I ripped out my emotions, stomped on them, and burned them with this new power."

Sounds to me like he was getting exhausted with caring and stressing out about the people he loved so much. If he did love them. I'm assuming he did, despite what Nexus says. (Though it's a cool thought if he actually didn't. Mixing up love with the feelings of needing to protect and care for the people around him because he thought he needed to do that. "Loving" his family because he thought that's what he was supposed to do.)

Maybe when Solar died and he realized how much despair it brought him, he thought how he would survive if his other siblings died. If losing one hurt so bad, what would happen if he lost the others? He wouldn't be able to live with that. So distancing himself and cutting them off entirely fixes that problem. (But he still cares. He's trying to be apathetic but deep down he still cares. Maybe, I don't know his thought process anymore at this point.)

I'm assuming the dark/negative star power is not only killing him, is also accelerating his terrible mental state, sending him down a deeper rabbit hole. It's still him doing all of this villain stuff though so like... shrug.

Tired of being hurt? Tired of constantly trying to survive life because of the antagonists? Because if he stands at the top, then nobody can cause him any more pain.

I want to raise my eyebrow at Nexus but also,,, it is an interesting thought. Simmering hatred(?) of the others and wanting to be stronger (to not get hurt anymore.) that was blinded by loving the others. But I also think he's bullshitting through his teeth. But I actually really like how this is going for Nexus now, honestly. And while I'm still hoping for a redemption arc, as long as he doesn't get killed I don't mind this whole villain thing. The family having to deal with problems caused by someone they once loved? Is a really cool plotline. I feel like this entire post may be extremely obvious, but. I don't know, I'm just putting my thoughts together.

the pre-slash frostiron comic i mentioned a few weeks back! the idea is that loki and tony are now ~telepathically connected~ and learn to live together and eventually fall in love while orchestrating the final takedown of thanos and saving of the universe. the catch: loki is still Very Much a wanted criminal, so he has to moonlight as tony stark's emotional support.... dog. wolf. wolfdog. (neither of them is happy about this).

this idea is out to a good home--if any fic writers out there want to take it and run with it, all i ask is that you please link me the fic :'D
