Tophvan post yayy... I wanna explain why I ship it or whatever. Why its silly to me or like how I view their dynamic or whatever. This is gonna cringe so probably ignore this if you don't like tophvan I'm not trying to say its like the best ship in the world or they have a great dynamic or whatever I just wanna explain how I view them. This will probably sound delusional but yk whatever. Cringe and free I guess. Here's some old art

Basically me going on their interactions sorta kinda plus my own headcanons.

Okay so hc wise I've always kind of imagined they wouldn't get along in some way. For obvious reasons, Topher tries too hard and Ivan doesn't try at all. So obviously Topher would at least try to seem like he didn't know him s1 and I don't think he does really know him s1 I feel like they would've followed each other on Flipflop(gah I hate saying that) and Topher just didn't care to block him because he only has two followers and doesn't want to lose one. Anyway I think with s3 I imagine the bleacher creatures met during summer school mayhaps because they all failed gym or math or something? That's my hc on it. I think they do seem close? At least good friends I think that jackée Ivan and Topher are the three main(vlad and lizzie I still loveee but its harder to get a read on them they don't talk much) anyway I don't think that Ivan and Topher would immediately get along obviously Topher let loose more because he's happier with his friends but still I don't think its perfect obv. so going to actually get into the analysis now I yap so much

I think that based off lines of dialogue like "its a fuck no from me" "a simple no would've been fine Ivan" that Topher kinda keeps him grounded at least a little bit???? Ivan doesnt seem to retaliate I think he does sort of view Topher as the leader in a way. Because Topher talks the most and tbh he does seem a little bit bossy. There's also that one time that I immediately think of when I think tophvan the part where he looks over at Topher as if to see if its approved or not before he agrees with jackée.

Like hes like 'is this funny? ' though it could be because he doesn't listen to jackée because female and he's a dumb teenage boy(throws tomatoes at him) I still think that its funny cause he doesn't even look at all the guys in the group to approve it first he just looks at Topher. you can tell by the animation

Anyway before that I think these two do talk more off screen Ivan looks at him when the others don't (even in other scenes though I don't really think that's a big deal imo) okay full headcanon time I think Ivan knows about tophers supposed crush on joan. I don't think Ivan likes Joan but I think he was like "give it a shot because Topher or whatever 🙄😒' but I also feel like he had a bet that she wouldn't be any help. Don't get me wrong I do think ivans dumb obviously but I also do think he just doesn't like Joan. He doesn't full on hate her or anything just don't think he completely trusted her. He does trust her in the vip room thing he thought that was coll but he is also the first to say she ditched us straight up. Ivans very blunt

Past that I think they do get closer or whatever afterwards. Kind of. We see them in the shower but I kind of ignore that episode and scene altogether so. That's not rlly a big thing I think abt so anyway

Overall I think Topher is a complete idiot too like obviously that one scene where he gets bitten by the snake and jackée says to suck the poison out and Ivan sucks the snake because he's a stupid stupid idiot. Dumb. Tophers stupid too very stupid but that's why I think they're fun together.

Forgot abt that scene where they highfive Topher laughs at ivans dumb jokes. They highfive. (I think Topher laughs way too hard at it like we get it bro. You think its funny. I would say it kinda sounds like forced like haha you're so funnyyy but that's probably a bit of a stretch 😔😔😔💔💔)Edit: I think he genuinely finds that stuff funny cause he's so stupid like bone high is not that funny he just has dumb humor. Bia - my thoughts summarized

Now I have watched all of Bia, and this is my notes:

I began watching season 1 thinking it was really boring. Like honestly, I couldn't get into it in the slightest.

In general it took me a while to get through s1. It took a little faster watching s2.

I got such straight vibes from absolutely everyone except for Pixie in the beginning.

But I definitely got the lesbian!Celeste vibes once I reached season 2.

Though it’s sad the Trish thing just disappears after like a third of the season. Then Celeste just does… nothing on her own, I feel like

But in general, I feel like she’s the lesbian among straight friends at the moment lol. ”I will tell you if I am planning on getting a boyfriend 🙂”

So like. I like Bia and Manuel, they are cute. And in a way, it’s good that they are essentially only each other’s love interests. But when they only have each other as an option, it’s like you basically have to accept them regardless (I didn’t get any vibes at all with any other person they interacted with than with each other either). Luckily, I liked them together, but if I didn’t like them together then i’d probably not be very happy and want an alternative. For example, when I watched SL I really not at all ever liked Lutteo. That’s why it was good that I had some alternatives to choose from, even if the alternatives aren’t endgame.

Something with Binuel tho is that I sometimes can’t keep track of when they’re dating and when they are not. I know that whatever happens, they will end up together, but sometimes I legit went ”Wait, you aren’t dating right now?” Because they 90% of the time act lovey-dovey regardless, plus they at one point faked a breakup while they still were dating, etc.

But idk, I often keep track of the main character’s love life, and it’s often the side characters I can’t keep track if they’re dating someone or not.

At first, I really did feel like Bia was a Mary Sue without much troubles - her only fault is ”bEIng iN LoVe”. But I did realize it’s probably deeper than that. Like, the second the girl disappointed her parents she moved out because she couldn’t dare to face them. Like, she’s NOT used to getting in trouble and if it’s that hard for her, then i’m concerned.

I HATE the Gutierrez parents + Alex so much and I will blame them for absolutely everything

And the s2 ending... was SO weird

I guess they had that ending because they didn’t know if they were getting a s3 but… omg?

Something didn’t feel right. It felt solved too quickly. Where did Helena even come from she was in the park the other minute

I somehow forgot who Jhon was like a quarter of the time… also my phone wants to autocorrect to John all the time

I did like Helena and Thiago a lot. Very cute. I love how you can notice the second Helena really falls for him.

I didn't like Bia as much as the other DCLA shows, at all. Also, I think I gave it a hard time out of spite in the beginning, because people said it was "better" than the previous and "fixes the problems". It's NEVER a good idea to tell me that something is better than something I already love. Cause then I'll probably not enjoy the new thing out of spite. It actually took me like 5 years to watch SL simply because people said it was better than Violetta and therefore I didn't want to watch it out of spite.

And if it "fixes the problems" - maybe? But it made it a little more... boring.

There's something I loved in the previous shows and that is the chaos. There's either chaos because the characters have a chaotic nature or because they are placed in situations that builds for chaos. Here the chaos is planned. We have like "oh let's do a fun challenge where if you lose you have to get a cake in your face xD" or someone saying something like "Hey I dare you to dress up like an orange xD" (and then she never dresses up like an orange, the scene ends after that line). Which... sure, it's more "realistic" in a way but also... not as fun, for me?

Do I hate the show? No! It was an interesting story! Especially the family plotline was very interesting!

But then we have like... Laix and Fundom. I don't think the youtube storyline was as fun.

I did however like how Mara ended up being like... evil and it was actually Carmin who was nice.

I like Bia's parents. I love how her mom always pampers her, too. Like the time Bia felt dizzy and her mom legit put like 5 pillows under her and was like "now rest. Need something else??" I just know that when/if Bia has period cramps her mom just takes the best care of her.

Celeste should've gone to her psychologist in s2, I feel like there were some things in s2 she didn't tell us... like there was something that I felt she was... not telling :-) Something that she may have told her psychologist if she didn't tell her friends...

Anyway... I did really enjoy el mundo al revez. It was a fun concept. And I am gonna make posts how I think it would go if Violetta and SL did that.

Okay, so the songs... a part of why I am hooked on these shows is because I love musical shows in general. As a kid I really loved Lazytown and Phineas and Ferb, to name a few. And I am sad to say that I didn't enjoy a lot of the songs here.

None of them were bad! It's just... it's not songs I actively listen to outside of watching, like I do with the other two shows, where I daily listen to the songs.

There are exceptions and one is Tengo una cancion. I LOVE this song so much. I think I listen to it once or twice every day. It's so upbeat and happy. Perfect for car rides, I've noticed. And bike rides. And walks.

I also VERY MUCH enjoy Vale, Vale. That song is insane.

And I do sometimes listen to Thumbs up (even if the chorus is VERY cheesy), and the opening song to El mundo al revés. And sometimes Asi yo soy (but that one mostly because it comes up in my recommended all the time)

Anyway... I see why people enjoy this show, but I don't think I enjoyed it as much. Will still watch S3 if they ever would make one. Still think S2's ending was weird.

Also I plan on making a youtube video about it, much like the time I made a youtube video comparing SL and Violetta (swedish with english subtitles + translations of the pop-ups in the description)

Yugioh S5 Ep 17:  Joey Falling Down for 20 Minutes

It is HOT in my house and so I’m going to do my best but no promises!

It’s a holiday weekend, which usually means I should catch up on work that’s falling behind, but today means that it is too hot to do anything but talk about this weird arc of Yugioh. One where, in case you forgot, we are in an isekai that takes place in an Egyptian pyramid that is in the Northern part of India. Oh, and this isekai was made by Alexander the Freakin Great. Don’t worry about it.

What’s weird about this, is that we are definitely in that anime video game isekai genre, but we are actually in less of an isekai realm than normal Yugioh. There’s no game stats. There’s no game rules. Just these pokemon tubes we shoot at other monsters and we just let them do whatever. Kinda like a reverse isekai if you will.

This arc definitely has more of a Rated G quality to it, it’s trying really hard to capture that Wile E. Coyote feel. And does it hit it? No, not really, which is a shame because we would all like to see an Emperor’s New Groove style of wackiness applied to any show, honestly. But, instead, we get so many dry one liners out of Joey Wheeler who is like side-eyeing the camera like “nyeh, remember when this show was grimdark?”

At some point last episode Joey Wheeler got abducted by this bird, who is a mother of this many children.

I don’t know why anyone in their right mind would be like “yes, Joey is delicious” but these birds will try to eat Joey for the rest of this episode. Some sort of crazy pheromone is going on with his shampoo, and they want all of it.

Faced with the end of this gimmick we are introduced to that convenient tree branch that is in basically every animated show with a freefall in it, but something about Yugioh feels just real enough to make this particular splat....REALLY painful looking.

And after this series of random events, we get yet another convenient plot device.

Usually you have to go out and find your MacGuffin, but in the case of Joey Wheeler the MacGuffin got tired of waiting and just went out to greet him.

Alexander the Great’s free time sure is something else if he just made a magical D&D campaign with monsters and stuff and then just...never used it. He just decided to leave this here for hundreds of years later. Just cuz he was too busy taking over the middle East and romancing just so many people, I guess?

Haunted D&D game for sale, never used.

We are finally introduced with a rule to this game, and the rule is: You will die. Does that mean now their Pokemon run is Nuzlocke?

Man...I think I have used a Nuzlocke joke on this blog here before but like it just really changes the dynamics of Pokemon if they can freakin die and then Ash Ketchum also freakin dies.

Like take this orange “baby” dragon with pecks that are the size of hubcaps. If it freakin dies, so does Joey Wheeler.

Joey of course, can’t truly walk anymore, so it’s a good thing he’s letting baby dragon do all the work.

Meanwhile, in the woods, Yugi is getting attacked by a bunch of trees and that just makes sense.

These Deku trees look so much like something out of a Adult Swim show but I cannot put my finger on what it is. I think it’s that hair. It has strong vibes to something I watched in my youth...but I don’t know what it was at all.

Anyway, trapped in a small corner, Yami gets his second monster to bond with his entire soul, and it’s exactly the sort of thing he’d get really excited about.

This animation of Yami smiling as he stares into the horrific fire he started in the woods to burn so many sentient trees is very on point for Yugioh.

Never let Yami back into California.

Straight up fire season is a few months going now, and I’m already so tired of the endless anxiety that is fire season.

Meanwhile, Joey has gone to a waterfall, most likely in order to ice his crotch from falling directly onto a tree branch.

Coincidentally, he finds yet another MacGuffin. And like, I guess this is because of Joey being lucky, but it’s extremely kid’s show because stuff just keeps happening.

Baby Dragon sets Joey Wheeler on fire again (FREAKIN FIRE) and honestly...how many times are we going to set Joey Wheeler on fire in this show? We’ve had a literal fireball, fire golem, that god card that was just a fire bird, and like...an actual volcano last season?

Is Joey made out of asbestos?

Good thing Kaiba isn’t here to completely disregard this map, but although they’re certainly better about finding out where to go than a Kaiba...they ain’t good at it.

Tea and Tristan spend this whole episode fighting a giant merman. It felt a lot like card stuff so I skipped most of it, just know the big thing was that Tea remembered that her pokemon can heal Tristan. And that was a little weird because Tristan was like “That’s the GOOD STUFF give me MORE OF THAT” and it’s like...would it actually feel a little bit like drugs?

I mean it would, right?

And then, as it looked like they were about to die, the episode ended with a mysterious man using his monster to save them, that’s right, it’s the only other person it could possibly be.

Not Kaiba, I know. We all wish it were, but it appears that Seto got grounded this arc, and when he was like “Roland! We are going to India!” Mokuba and everyone else in that office promptly hid the keys to the wifejet by flushing them directly down Seto’s dragon-shaped toilet.

Instead it’s just Grandpa.

Pretty sure Kaiba’s voice actor went on vacation during this arc, from what I’ve heard.

PS, as you can see--I numbered the episodes wrong. We are on 17 now. I have no idea how that happened. I don’t know where I went wrong. I will probably not fix it.

Like seriously how do I keep misnumbering these episodes, haha.

Acting like we will see what “minute by minute” really means and “see Eliott like we’ve never seen him before” which never happened

Questions and commments I have for Riverdale:

Are the characters ever going to seek counseling/therapy in their adulthood?

Will we ever get a specific mental diagnosis for Cheryl and Betty, or?? Because I feel like Betty might have DID or something else if not more, but I am no psychologist, so please - for the love of whomever you believe in - don’t take my word as gospel. With Cheryl, I’d best guess histrionic, but again, I am no expert...just speculations based off observations and the way they approach/respond/react to situations.

Are all of the students returning as teachers? I really thought they’d all have unique and different jobs (and I mean no offense by that, I just genuinely assumed) outside of teaching—way separate from teaching, actually, except maybe Jug when it comes to writing

Why did they make the Gargoyle King human? I know Roberto never got the green light to fully cross Riverdale over with Sabrina, but they still seemed to have more mentions and guest appearances from the former within CAOS than the other way around? I’m just sayin’... GK was kind of a weird villain, we all know that, but with all the genres that Riverdale plays around with, I think it would’ve been nice to have a supernatural/paranormal-themed season, no? Just me? Kk.. (s3 is my favorite so far, because it’s weird and wild - and I got high for most of its viewing lmao - so I’m biased)

⬆️ I forgot about the fact that Jonathan played as Kurtz in Riverdale and then later as Robin in Sabrina ... and Bret’s actor in CAOS’ last season (wasn’t Donna’s in there, too?) so I mildly stand corrected

I think it would’ve been cool to see Riverdale cover the Be More Chill musical. Idk, with all the peer pressure and casual bullying/taunting/judgement that goes on amongst them peers (examples: joining or leaving/getting kicked out of gangs, being blackmailed into lying in court with the threat of leaking a tape of your brother getting shot, being outed against your consent, getting guilted for still being in the closet, “manning” up after being abused or getting into a bear fight - typical high school stuff), I think it could’ve been an interesting spin. And the cyanide could’ve been replaced with the pill or sumn. But I am content with the musicals they’ve done so far, don’t get me wrong.

Are we ever going to meet Heather?

I just still find it kinda interesting and unique from season 1 that we never once heard Jason speak a line of dialogue, and that everything we ever got to know about him was told through the Blossoms or other students.

The Midnight Club is still one of the best episodes thus far, IMO, and one of my favorites. Maybe I’m just a sucker for nostalgia I wasn’t even alive at the time it came out, but it’s still fun to rewatch.

Why aren’t LGBTQ+ and POC characters utilized more - rather than tossed aside or left to disappear without a trace of goodbye - when there’s actually been a good handful of them per season? (ex.: Cheryl, Kevin, Joaquin, Josie, Chuck, Valerie, Melody, Sierra, Toni, Reggie, Peaches N Cream [I saw her in the recent episode, just for a second, with her cute done-up braids and all], Fangs, Moose, please forgive me if I forgot anyone; it’s been a while) And why do the POC especially end up being villanized up against the white, cishet characters? Like the entire Lodge family, for example..

Toni said her and Jughead were still good friends (when they all - but the core four - still thought he was dead), but I feel like I haven’t seen them interact ‘til Jug denied her title to being the Serpent Queen?

Is Toni going to be pregnant this season, or did they hide Vanessa’s baby bump 🤰🏽 with any random object or article of baggy clothing found onset?

So Reggie and Jughead just never interact after season 3? Kinda sucks ‘cause that’s a duo I’ve been hoping to see more of, but I won’t hold my breath just yet since it sounded like the show’s ongoing til 2022, last time I saw. It would just be cool to see more guy friendships; heck, even Fangs and Reggie would be a sick duo. I just think Reggie getting along with the Serpents - after half a season or more of just not liking or trusting them at all - could be pretty dang cool.

Where did Mad Dog go? I’m sorry, they might’ve said in the last season, but I don’t remember. I miss him either way :(

I just find it funny how Jughead and Veronica never talk about the one kiss they had lmfao. I would’ve loved to see how that convo would’ve gone down, since it’s safe to assume that at least Jug remembered afterward —who never gave Betty a straight answer on whether or not he enjoyed it (/laughs in jeronica crumbs that I’m sure I’ll never get again/)

Who taught Cheryl to talk the way she does? I love her, but— ���

S1 Alice was so wildly conservative, like...miss ma’am, you’re talking about witchcraft and demons over there like you’ve had your experiences (outside of G&G).. 👀 No but didn’t the Blossoms have a demon in their family bloodline, according to CAOS? ‘Cause that’d make this make much more sense to me..

How many *more* of the Riverdale girls’ fathers could possibly be serial killers or criminals to varying degrees?

This is how it's done

Episode 5.15 at last.

While the emphasis has been on Nia's story in this episode, the synopsis made it clear Alex, Kelly and J'onn had a secondary storyline running as well. So again we were eager to watch knowing they were finally getting more than a token few minutes together.

Did it deliver?

Oh hell yes.

You just have to look on Twitter to see the praise being heaped on it by fans.

But first let's get the elephant in the room out of the way. William.

The opening sequence as Kara is fighting with Nia, and Nia has to be the one reminding Kara she has a date? Already covered by me and others, but to reiterate: that does not give a vibe of someone excited to be going on a first date. You can't even use the excuse of her mind was on the fight, because so was Nia's.

As to Kara at her apartment with Alex prior to the date?

Those words, "Cancel it for me."

Lets say (for arguments sake) it is nerves again speaking. Maybe it is, but that she is even having those thoughts? That she completely forgot about the 1st date, and needed reminding? If Kara can't get invested in the date, how are the audience expected to become invested?

As for the date itself. Kara arrives.... having been told by Alex to wear the blue top because .... well reasons .... and she is wearing the purple? So, not wanting to go with the best look then?

I didn't mind the date per se, although I did wonder if Kara was simply trying to not show pool skills, because I can't believe for a second, with Alex as a sister, and the control Kara now has on her powers (worry over lack of control would be the only other reason for her hesitation that I can think of), Kara hasn't been pulled into playing many times.

Did I get a date vibe? No. I felt more bonding yes (like why has it taken until now to even vaguely have that much), but date? Nope. Still not feeling it. If any of the above was a one off instance, you could shrug it off. But all of them? Sorry but as I say, if Kara isn't that invested in a first date, then we can't be expected to be as invested. However, that isn't to say that William annoyed me. In truth having him more on the sidelines was a relief as it finally allowed others to get some much needed screen time.

The Nia storyline.

This is obviously one extremely close to me, as my husband is transgender, and we have other family who are also transgender.

Nicole's input was definitely felt. Some of the lines she spoke were ones we have said ourselves almost word for word.

This is a topic that is one I've been extremely vocal about, and one in particular I have spoken about (in the William and Kara at CatCo scene) is the figures for transgender people killed in the last year alone in the USA, but more importantly that this number is likely not a true representation as many who die are misgendered after death.

It was so important to show just how bad for the transgender community it is. And no, it wouldn't necessarily be a fact Kara would know. Even those in the LGBTQ community aren't always aware of these figures. As for William being the one stating the figures back to Kara, again in the context I had no qualms about it. In fact having a CIS straight man write the piece and be a supportive ally is an important message in it's own right. I was worried that wouldn't come across, but I felt it did.

If ever there was a line that spoke volumes in this weeks Supergirl episode it was this:

"They want us to be invisible because of their own fears, they want to erase us so...... we need to shine even brighter." - Nia Nal

And shine Nicole Maines (and Roxy Wood, because the additional line about being a Black transgender woman - take my heart, stomp over it, then expect me to function), did. Both deserve so much praise on the way they delivered their performances.

I genuinely cried at some of this weeks episode, because the experiences have been ones we have faced as a transgender household. Being white does afford us a privilege that Black transgender people (especially the women) don't have. But as I say, it has been something I've been vocal about for a long time.

Lastly Kara and Nia on the balcony. Holy mother of god (or goddess), tears. Again. Nicole and Melissa once again were so good it felt like a punch to the gut. Kara wiping that tear off Nia's cheek. Big ugly sobbing from me. Gah! Just ....

Now Alex and Kelly. While I'm still craving a nice intimate atmosphere at home with them, having had so little of Dansen (and Kelly) it was a relief that for once Kelly wasn't given diminished screentime. Not only that, she was instrumental in helping Alex navigate through the VR world.

Alex having that PTSD flashback to being in the tank. Whoa, finally acknowledging it affected her and obviously still does. I loved how Kelly is so good at helping Alex maintain her equilibrium. You could tell it wasn't just because of her training or profession, but as a girlfriend who knows and understands how to communicate to Alex in that moment of stress, much like Alex was able to realise Malefic was manifesting as Kelly in the earlier part of the season, simply because she knew her girlfriend well enough.

Watching Alex train to get used to the Martian weapon, felt very reminiscent of S1 where Alex was training Kara early on. It was good to see her off balance for once in her training, as she has always shown a confidence in her ability until now. For those who complain she brought up wanting to be back at the DEO, as someone who has heavy military presence in our family (for at least 4 generations on my maternal side), I can safely say, going from military (and remember the DEO is recognised and spoken about in canon as being a military operation), and suddenly and unexpectedly thrown back into civilian life is one heck of an adjustment. It's an adjustment for most even when they know it's coming. To be so abrupt, so unexpected? Alex is going to want that structure back, and have that support around her. It is absolutely not unrealistic for her to feel this way or to talk about it. I would've been more surprised if she hadn't.

"And this is my gun."

Alex giving no crap. The whole rescue sequence was a joy to watch.

If I had a complaint, as I mentioned, I would've loved just a moment of real quiet intimacy between Kelly and Alex. We've barely seen anything of that sort. I hope we get something next episode (which also looks amazing from the trailer).

I could go through the episode and pick up so many times on how good it was. It was so much, I know I will have forgotten something I wanted to say. But I'm exhausted (almost no sleep will do that to you, damn being in the UK and these stupid o'clock viewing times), and it was so much to unpack.

Brainy, was barely in the episode but damn, so lovely (& heartbreaking) to see him give the information to the NCPD to help against transphobic attacks.

Onto a side plot, but finally we have more about Leviathan.

Leviathan have those bodies suspended.

What if William dies in 5.19 and becomes one of those suspended bodies for 5.20 or was supposed to, as Nicole mentioned on her Instagram story they still had scenes to film, and a couple were pretty amazing? With Staz back, would it have involved him, possibly as a sleeper agent? I've touted this idea before. While I would prefer that a MOC isn't cast into being a bad guy again, or killed off, I would more than happily see him simply go back to London and The Times. But I guess we wait to see what happens there.

But if, like Russell in 5a, he becomes an unwitting agent of Leviathan & a bad guy, cue fight scene, possibly in a VR setting? Maybe? Who knows.

Last but by no means least - they killed off Jeremiah. Since we're not entirely sure if Cadmus operated in the same way on Earth Prime as they did on Earth 38, we don't yet know the circumstances behind his death.

Will we get more explanation about it? Honestly I'm not overly bothered unless it helps serve a current storyline. Merely because episode numbers are running out, and it does at least bring us closure on his character one way or another. Something a lot of us have questioned for so long now.

As for complaints, the only ones expressing any real disappointment have been fans who have either regularly attacked other fans (especially those of in the SC or Dansen fandoms), or the outright transphobic users (I won't call them fans), who as the episode makes clear, are everywhere. The transphobes come out in force everytime with Nicole, so it isn't a surprise to see them again. As Nia says, it what transgender people face on a daily basis.

Plus with no Lena in the episode, it helps show that fans didn't need a Lena/Kara centric episode for this to garner such positive reactions, particularly from the LGBTQ fans. In some ways, as many have been saying (yes even SC fans), this Lena drama has long since gone by its sell by date and not having Lena once more stuck in her laboratory wasn't missed. And god, I say this as a huge Lena fan. I still want her on screen of course, but we need progression on what is happening with her. Both Lex and Lena have felt stale of late, and while I know it changes as we get into the last few episodes, I can truly say neither was missed this time. And before anyone jumps in, no this isn't bashing SC (I still ship both Dansen and SC, as well as Brainia), or saying SC shouldn't happen, or Lena is evil, or not needed. I don't think that at all. I merely am getting tired of a merry-go-round on Lena in her laboratory that we've had of late, & the only interaction has been with Lex. Time to break her out of that cell!

I don’t know what they were putting in the water in Vancouver when they did the Batwoman and Supergirl episodes this week, but they both had me simultaneously laughing & crying! It looked ugly for a minute there.

Both were outstanding episodes.

As much as I've had my criticism over some of this season, when Supergirl get it right like they did here, they soar! This was one of my top episodes for the entire series.

And despite all the news in the world right now, Supergirl trended on Twitter again.

QuaranTeen Wolf Viewing: S1 EP8 Part 1

Stiles gets Scott drunk to help soothe his pain over the break up with Allison. Stiles’s voice cracks adorably while he is wasted, it is precious. 

This is all very cute, but it seems like another drawback of being a werewolf is that either you can’t get drunk or it’s a lot harder to get drunk. Scott soberly broods. 

Stiles talks about Lydia and also about being alone, BUT THEN BULLIES ARRIVE ON THE SCENE!

Harsh. But I like that this continues the theme of dangerous human villains being marked by their hats. Recall that the rando who beat Scott up (when he believed Scott had keyed his car) was wearing a flat cap. 

The bullies steal the booze! But then Scott flashes his were eyes, gets the bottle back...and then throws it against a tree. We scene jump to Scott and Stiles heading to their car, so I guess the confrontation ended peacefully after the alcohol was destroyed.

But wait a minute. We return to the bullies who are still roaming the woods, looking for other victims to bully! When the Alpha shows up and straight up throws one of them into a fire!! And murders the other one offscreen I think??

If anyone dares to try to pin this on Derek too so help me god...

Scott wakes up later in the week. His radio tells us that school has been closed for two days and that the police are looking for Derek. 

Scott’s mom comes in and continues to be very likable and offer support to her sad son. Scott rebuffs her.

Chris & Kate Argent drive Allison to school. Chris is being overprotective and basically not letting Allison out of the car until Kate intervenes. 

I have to say I’m impressed by the way Kate and Chris are being portrayed as characters. I’m so so wary of both of them but then also the fam interactions can be really fun. The writing here feels a bit more organic than with some of the other threads going on. Like hey these people are horrifying menaces to our main characters but also they are a family with real desires and cares in this world. Yay for some nuance!

Kate tries to say something to Chris and he babbles defensively about how Kate was right, they should have acted sooner, he put Allison in danger. Kate’s like, “I was just gonna say u need gas.” 

Argent comedy hour over here. 

Allison and Lydia chat and let the audience know that no one knows they were the ones at the school the other night. Allison is concerned she made the wrong choice breaking up with Scott, but Lydia points out that he locked them in a classroom and left them for dead. “He’s lucky we’re not pressing charges or making him pay for our therapy bill.” LOL. 

Sheriff is also at the school, and Stiles asks him if they’ve found Derek yet. He warns his father to be extra careful (bc of the full moon), and his father assures him that he’s brought in the big guns in the form of a state detective. 

Well, I for one feel safer already.  

Scott/Stiles/Allison all take a test. Scott can’t concentrate bc of his Allison angst + werewolf senses going into overdrive (presumably intensified as the full moon approaches. Good detail!)

Scott flees the classroom. Stiles goes after him immediately, test be damned! That is friendship, y’all. 

He finds Scott in the boy’s locker room (the favorite set location by far) having a sexy breakdown. I’m not complaining that we have had a lot of shirtless Scott this ep, but it feels bittersweet given the circumstances.

Scott tells Stiles he can’t breathe, so Stiles roots around in Scott’s backpack for his inhaler. I find it charming / a really good detail that Scott is still carrying his inhaler. He’s not fully confident about his new powers and not fully accepting of the changes IN HIS LIFE AND BODY. And I love that Stiles knows exactly where the inhaler is. And that Stiles is like ‘hey actually you’re having a panic attack, but I distracted you by making you think it was an asthma attack!’ and he talks about how he had panic attacks after his mom died. My heart.

Stiles suggests that the heightened senses / reactions / panic attack are because of the full moon. Scott says that they need to do more during the full moon than just lock him in his room because if they don’t he might kill someone!

In the next scene, there is some sort of big hunter meeting going on AND STATE DETECTIVE IS THERE!!! 

They talk about whether or not Allison will be a target and how they have to protect lives during the full moon. 

Chris explains, “An Alpha is like any other werewolf on a full moon. It struggles under its sway, which means tonight is our best chance to catch it—when it’s unfocused.” 

They discuss that it’s unlikely Derek will show up tonight. Allison’s mom enters the room with cookies and says they should cut Derek in half if they see him. She then offers cookies. EEEK!

Jackson finds Allison eating lunch and...wipes food off her lips and then eats the food...I know he’s trying to be sexy, but yuck! Instead of fleeing in horror, Allison thanks him. 

Jackson’s neck continues to bother him. In my haste to worry about Scott, I forgot to worry about how Jackson would be handling the full moon.  

Scott is eavesdropping outside the cafeteria as Jackson tells Allison she did the right thing dumping Scott/that he got what he deserved. Scott cracks a wall with his head!?!?!

We then switch to a comedic scene in the locker room (again, the fav set piece) where, thanks to a pink eye outbreak, there are some new folks on first line. Stiles is overjoyed to find he is one of the lucky guys!

Scott is made co captain with Jackson, much to Jackson’s chagrin. 

Danny, the voice of reason, tells Jackson that it doesn’t matter who the captain of the team is. He tells Jackson to get a grip. Danny is great, can we get more of him?? 

Stiles and Scott discuss this dramatic turn of events, and Scott reveals he can smell jealousy. Stiles is like CAN YOU ALSO SMELL DESIRE? The answers to these questions are crucial because they could potentially form the basis to an enormous number of fics. 

Stiles asks Scott to go talk to Lydia about him and see if he can smell desire from her. 

In a strange turn of events, Scott takes Lydia into a private classroom and asks if Allison is still into him. Lydia says that Allison will always like him as a friend, but that Lydia knows Allison made a huge mistake. Scott was protecting them, and Lydia is into that...so she starts making out with Scott?? This has to be connected to the way Jackson has been acting with Allison, right?? Or can Lydia smell that new Lacrosse Captain smell on Scott?? Is she somehow also being affected by the full moon?

I’ve been getting a few asks about the storylines in season 2 and I haven’t had the time to respond to them all yet, so I’m making this post and answering all of them at the same time. Thanks to @elliephunk80​ for giving me this idea! 💛🌞

Contains spoilers up till episode 7 of season 2.

I’ll be dividing this couples-wise, since most of my questions seem to be based around the relationships in the new season! They are:

Felicia & Jack Elias & Klara Ludde & Amie Elias & Amie (saving the best for last ofc)

Felicia & Jack

Starting off with Felicia and Jack, which I’m honestly not too crazy about. I definitely like the addition of Jack as a character, but I’m not entirely sure this relationship is a good fit.

In my honest opinion I feel like these two are sort of an odd couple and it hasn’t been addressed by anybody except Elias, who brought up the topic of Jack being Felicia’s old babysitter and how it reminded him of a “sleazy porno”. I wouldn’t go that far, but from what we know there’s a pretty big age gap considering Felicia still isn’t 18 yet and Jack seems to be in his mid-20s. 

And I also just don’t see them having that much in common besides them having known each other in the past and both being good-looking people. It just seems sort of strange, and I don’t get what they see in each other for them to be a real couple. It started out as just a hook-up when Felicia was both drunk and high, and it seems to still be more focused on appearances rather than them actually being in love.

I’m also sort of fearful for Felicia. We know she’s in a really vulnerable state right now - still not being over Ludde, having lost her best friend, her parents divorcing, and being back on drugs.

I still don’t know if Jack really is cheating on Felicia with Olivia (the girl that texted him) but I would say he is. Jack is incredibly confident and charming, which makes him able to easily lie and manipulate people. We know he’s not an entirely good person since he’s already lied to Elias about now knowing that Mats would bring him back to Eagles. I wouldn’t be surprised if he really did hook up with Olivia and ended up being a really good liar.

The fact is that not only did he deny it but he then shamed Felicia for blaming him and causing a scene, ultimately shifting the focus in the argument to her and making Felicia feel bad that she even confronted him in the first place. Jack says that maybe they shouldn’t even be together, which causes Felicia to backtrack and apologize. It’s actually pretty impressive how Jack was able to spin that around to blame Felicia and make her apologize. But it’s not a healthy relationship - there’s this toxicity, the age gap, and I just have a bad feeling all around about how it will end. I really don’t want Felicia to spiral even further down.

As for the fight in the season 2 trailer, that could very well be Jack and Elias! Elias is incredibly protective of his sister and if Jack did indeed cheat on her and it came out that would be a pretty plausible reason for them fighting.

This is a very blurry and low quality picture, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was them. In fact, I can’t see who else it would be. At the time of the trailer releasing I was unsure of who it could be since we hadn’t yet seen Jack in any scenes and how he would fit into the story, but now I’m like 90% sure it’s him.

Elias & Klara

Moving onto Elias and Klara, the unexpected couple of the season. They actually have pretty good chemistry in my opinion, even if they’re not really my preferred pairing.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but we have to consider how much time has passed since that incident. It’s been three months since Klara posted that video and it’s been, what, almost five since she filmed it? I know Felicia is still incredibly hurt but the fact is that three months is actually a pretty long time when you actually think about it. You can’t stay mad at someone forever for something they did, and Elias said himself that he doesn’t blame Klara for what she did. She wasn’t the one who cheated on her boyfriend/betrayed her best friend, and it’s pretty clear that Klara holds some regret to the way she posted the video.

Might be getting sidetracked here, but I’m actually not mad at Ludde and Amie anymore either. They’ve apologized and apologized for three months straight (maybe Ludde more than Amie, but still) and there’s just not that much you can do when the person you hurt doesn’t even want to listen or talk to you. Eventually, you just kind of move on. I honestly feel like Felicia was really annoying when she threw food at Amie and told her to be quiet. Like, yes, we get that they both hurt her but the way Felicia acted and the fact that she couldn’t just be the bigger person bothered me and made me sympathize with her less.

Back to the question - I feel like Elias and Klara make a lot of sense and Klara seems to be becoming a better person when she’s with him. She’s not a complete monster. She’s just a teenage girl with a complicated living situation and probably some jealousy issues. Don’t get me wrong, I hated her back in season 1 for being so nasty, but she’s honestly improving as a person.

I agree. I kind of miss Sara but I like that she doesn’t really hang out with Klara as much anymore. I actually wish that Klara would’ve become more ostracized from her school friends to emphasize how alone she is, but she seems to still be pretty popular so that was kind of disappointing. I thought the fall-out of her posting the video would be worse, but I guess not.

Anyway, I like that they’re taking a disliked character and making her into a better person. Feels like it’s been done a few times before, but I still appreciate them doing it. I hated s1 Klara for being so one-dimensional, but s2 Klara is well on her way to being a pretty good and nuanced character.

First off, I appreciate you too! 💛 But I think I actually disagree a little on the whole Klara thing - yeah, she didn’t really “pay” for what she did, but she’s still aware that what she did was wrong and could’ve been done a whole lot better than posting a video for everybody to see.

If Elias likes her and they’re happy together, I don’t see why they wouldn’t work! I don’t want them to be endgame, but so far I’ve liked seeing them together because they have really good chemistry and they seem to understand each other. 

Ludde & Amie

Ludde and Amie have kind of grown closer this season, not only because they worked on the demo together but also because they both hurt Felicia. I think they’re both feeling really lonely but they’ve bonded as friends. Notice that I said friends and not as a couple, which I’ll explain down below.

So as we know, Amie kissed Ludde in episode 6 when he was in the hospital after having been injured during the hockey game against Karlskrona. She immediately seemed to regret having done that and ran out without an explanation, leaving Ludde alone and confused.

I honestly don’t think Amie has any romantic feelings towards Ludde. I think she might mistake her feelings for a crush or something, when in reality she’s just lonely and appreciates Ludde always being there for her and giving her compliments on her musical ability. Ludde was complimenting Amie at the hospital, saying she was amazing, and I think Amie was just really touched by that and maybe wanted to thank him somehow, and ended up kissing him. And then she freaked out and left because oh my god did she really just kiss Ludde. It was an uncomfortable and awkward situation and that’s probably why she ran out.

However, I really believe that if she had just stayed to explain and apologize, Ludde would understand and they could’ve just laughed it off. But this is a drama show so of course that wouldn’t happen! 

Do I think the writers are making them into a couple? No, definitely not. They know that season 1 was sort of predictable and cliché, so they’re making season 2 as different as possible by including these unexpected pairings such as Klara & Elias and Amie & Ludde. But Amie and Ludde won’t ever be a couple, because Ludde is still very much hung up on Felicia. I don’t see them as a couple either - yes, they have music in common, but they work way better as friends than in a relationship.

I think the kiss was written to 1) be unexpected and throw us off, 2) ensure the viewers that Ludde is still in love with Felicia despite spending so much time with Amie, and 3) to show that Amie is feeling really lonely after having lost her best friend. 

I feel like Amie is getting just as much screentime as she did in season 1, though! She’s got a storyline with Ludde and she’s definitely still a main character. Personally I’m really enjoying the way they’ve divided the time this season.

In the first season, Felicia got way too much screentime and I know they did that to show how many things she went through, but because of the short 20-minute episodes that didn’t leave enough time for everybody else. This time around, it seems more fair and like we’re getting more variety in the storylines. With this change, Elias has also gotten more screentime which I love (because he’s my favorite character, duh) and I feel like if Amie got more screentime than she’s already getting, it would sort of disrupt the whole “balance”.

It’s always difficult to make sure that the characters are all getting enough time to develop their storylines so I can understand your frustration. It’s especially difficult with so few episodes.

Unrelated topic, but an example of this would be Mats and Petra. They’ve both had a few scenes in season 2 but at this point, when we’re seven episodes in and they haven’t been in a single scene together, it sort of feels like the writers forgot about their past relationship. It seemed like the writers were going somewhere with them in S01E07 - Road trip, but maybe that was just to parallel Elias and Amie’s relationship? Bringing us to the next and final subject -

Elias & Amie

Man, these two are SO incredibly popular despite having only shared a few scenes in season 1. And don’t be scared if you think the writers forgot about them, because if you saw the Q&A with Stefan H. Lindén who is both the creator and one of the producers of the show he had some really interesting things to say about them.

He emphasized that the writers know how much the fans want to see them together and that they did have plans for Amie and Elias in the future, just that it might take some time because of how the character dynamics are right now after the fall-out of the Halloween incident (and the fact that Elias is currently in a relationship with Klara).

This is totally a valid opinion too! They’re two vastly different characters and while that’s probably the reason they’re such a popular pairing, it could also be a little off-putting to some people since they don’t really seem to have anything in common. In fact, Amie has a lot more in common with Ludde, but I’d actually argue that her chemistry is better with Elias.

I think we should wait until we get more scenes of them interacting though, however long that may be. 

All in all, I just wanted to express how excited I was to see the scene in the hospital and how excited Elias was to see Amie (and even complimenting her hair aaaa). He expressed that Amie and Ludde did mess up, but he doesn’t seem upset or mad at Amie at all which was a relief. He just got so adorable around her and I’m really impatient to see them together haha but I have total faith in the writers!

To finish this off, there’s still 3 episodes left so anything could happen. It’s really exciting to see what will happen with Amie in Stockholm and with Ludde having turned himself in to the police, and I absolutely can’t wait for the next episode!

Just a little fic of Matteo and Jonas to mend your hearts! Based on the common theory that Jonas will learn about Matteo’s actions in s1 and my hope that, that won’t lead to a fight. Some loving Jotteo bromance.

Summary : After learning about what Matteo did the past year Jonas goes to confront him only to find Matteo in a shape he wasn’t expecting.

Less Alone

Jonas wasn’t angry more like disappointed and confused really as he made his way through the streets. Why would Matteo do that? Why would he expose Hanna like that to the whole school? He would partly understand if Matteo betrayed Hanna and only told him about it because as much as the other two were close Matteo and Jonas were closer. So if he did that in a way he would have been a somewhat good friend to Jonas. Still, why would he break his promise to Hanna? It wasn’t like Matteo to do that. If anything he was a loyal friend. He could’ve walked away from the absolute mess and a pain in the ass Jonas was last year but he didn’t.

When he finally reached Matteo’s flat he had a million questions in his mind and no idea how to ask them. He knocked on a little more harshly than he intended to. It was Hans who opened the door and he said:

“I was about to call one of you. As much as I’m mad at that little boy I’m worried. He hasn’t left the house for the past four days, doesn’t eat much and walks around in the same outfit.”

If Jonas was confused before then he was now super confused. He got inside and said:

“What?”

Hans gave him a suspicious look, “Have you talked to him recently?”

Jonas shook his head, “No, he isn’t answering any texts but I thought he was studying or something.”

Hans tapped his own head like he remembered something, “Right I guess he broke his phone. Linn saw his screen all broken.”

“How? Why?” Jonas almost forgot why he went there in the first place. What the hell did I miss he thought.

“Okay, let me summarize real quick.” He opened his mouth then stopped. He was about to tell Jonas about David but managed to stop himself, it was best to leave that part to Matteo.

“Waiting.” Jonas said while shifting in his place. His confusion was growing every second.

“He was fine Friday night. Went out, came back, locked himself in his room. Came out for a study date and occasionally to get some snacks from the kitchen. Been smoking non-stop. Hasn’t changed his outfit. That’s about it.”

Jonas thought ‘maybe I should’ve listened to Carlos when he said something was wrong with Matteo’. But he had no idea not even a theory about what might wrong with him. In retrospect, Matteo has been more closed off for some time and maybe Jonas got used to that. He came here to demand answers from Matteo and now he was worried about him. He rubbed his head:

“Do you have any idea what’s wrong? Is it about his mom?”

Hans shrugged, “No. I don’t even know the deal with his mom.”

Jonas sighed. He needed to talk to Matteo but about something else than he planned, at a completely different tone than he planned.

“I’ll talk to him.” He said as he walked to Matteo’s room.

“Good luck.” Hans said after him.

Jonas took a deep breath and knocked on Matteo’s door. When there was no answer he tried to opened the handle but the door was locked. Jonas took another deep breath and said:

“Hey, Luigi it’s me.”

No answer.

“Either you open the door or I break the door or break my shoulder in the process.” The latter was the most probable one as Jonas wasn’t the strongest around.

He heard some shuffling and grouching then the door was unlocked. When he went inside Matteo was back to lying in his bed. His room looked nothing like to when they had the housewarming party and Jonas stayed over. It was a mess even by their standard. He looked at the full ashtray and cursed himself for ever starting smoking because well Matteo only started after him.

He stood on the edge of the bed:

“Hello, Mr.Florenzi.” he said trying to use a lively voice.

Matteo looked up to Jonas and didn’t reply because honestly he didn’t have the energy. He had no idea why was Jonas even there.

Jonas didn’t know how to start the conversation because well he wasn’t going to confront him and that was the reason he came.

“I’ve heard you have nested in here for some time.”

Matteo took a puff of his cigarette. “It’s comfy here.”

“I think it needs a bit of fresh air.” Jonas said referencing to Matteo’s smoking.

Matteo rolled his eyes, Jonas smoked as much as him if not more.

“Coming from you?”

Jonas was a bit surprised at that because harsh comebacks wasn’t really Matteo’s thing. But like his disappointment of past events he let it go and decided to straight up ask:

“What’s going on?”

Matteo put out the cigarette. “Nothing. Just relaxing, studying.”

Now Jonas understood how Matteo felt last year when all he did was to push Matteo away and in a more annoying way.

Matteo was lighting another cigarette when Jonas caught up with him and took it away.

“Hey!” Matteo protested but Jonas took the packet and the lighter away too.

“No smoking for you anymore, little one.”

Matteo didn’t want to deal with Jonas because he didn’t know what to tell him. He didn’t want to deal with others either. As much as he hated being alone and he hated the state he was in right now he just wanted everybody to go away. This wasn’t like when his dad had left. Jonas couldn’t cheer him up with songs or games. His dad leaving was expected, at least by him, but David leaving wasn’t expected. Jonas couldn’t make things better, he wouldn’t understand anyway. Matteo wouldn’t tell him.

“My name’s Matteo.” He knew he was being a pain in the ass but he needed Jonas to leave him alone. What’s another person to lose? he thought.

Jonas wasn’t going to give up. Matteo didn’t give up on him not even his worst state. Now it was time to help Matteo get up whether he wanted it or not.

He pulled the chair in front of the bed and sat down on it.

“Okay, ‘Matteo’.” He emphasized Matteo, “What’s going on with you lately?”

Matteo didn’t answer. He just kept playing with his pen.

“Okay don’t answer. I’ll just have a rundown of things that happened.”

He started to count, using his fingers too:

“First, you skip Abdi’s birthday party because of something to do with your mom. Second, you broke up with Sara. Third, you stopped communicating with the outside world.”

He added in his mind, fourth before all this you caused Hanna and Samuel’s kiss to spread to the whole school without thinking how it would affect me, her or us. Then he added, in his mind, but this is for another day.

Matteo was still not answering. He was trying to avoid eye contact and was either looking down to the ground or up to the ceiling.

“I’m going to make it a little bit easier for you as a Jonas Augustin service.” He tried to make a joke with a cute voice to lighten up the room. “I feel like all of these are connected. Is that right?”

Matteo finally showed a sign of responding and shook his head to mean ‘Yes.’

Jonas felt like they were finallu getting somewhere. He didn’t want to force things out of Matteo but for Jonas to help him he needed know what was wrong.

“Are you willing to tell me that connection?”

Matteo gulped. He wasn’t ready for this, he wasn’t ready to ‘come out’ to Jonas. It’s not like he would judge him but he feared things might change between them. Also, he didn’t even know how to explain the things that happen and when he had a similar conversation with Hans well, he messed it up.

This time he shook his head to mean ‘No.’

And now they were a step back, Jonas thought. But he was willing to be patient.

“Do you want to talk about any of those?”

Another, ‘No.’

It looked like Jonas wasn’t going to make things better this time. So he did all he could, just being there.

“Can you promise me something, Matteo?”

Jonas pushed down the urge to call him ‘Little One’.

Matteo went back to playing with his pen, “What?”

Jonas put on the warmest smile he had, “When you are ready to talk come find me. You know I’m not hard to find.”

Matteo didn’t know if he’ll ever be ready to talk but still deep down he apprecriated Jonas so much. Old Jonas was back. The Jonas that always cared, that made him laugh, his best friend.

Matteo looked at Jonas fully for the first time since he entered the room, “Promise.”

That was a bit of a relief for Jonas. At least Matteo didn’t shut Jonas out a %100.

After a minute or so silence Jonas suddenly jumped on Matteo’s bed.

A confused Matteo looked at him as if to ask what he was doing.

“We’re having a sleepover Luigi.”

“We are?”

“Yes, yes we are. Now scooch over.” He said with a smile.

Maybe Matteo wasn’t ready to talk yet but there was no way Jonas was going to leave him alone like that. He swears he saw a tint of smile on Matteo’s face.

As for the million questions in his mind about Matteo’s motives of the year before, it didn’t seem inportant anymore.

Matteo didn’t know when or if he’ll be okay but Jonas was there and that was enough to make him feel less alone.

TMA Headcanons

I sort of spoiled myself in terms of headcanons for The Adventure Zone, so now I try to finish/get caught up on podcasts and form impressions entirely in my head before introducing visual ideas via fanart. And lately I've been focusing on The Magnus Archives SOOOO here we go:

My headcanons for The Magnus Archives. A few were originally written after listening through s2. I've added my s3 thoughts below characters or in a new section. I'm only 3 episodes in to s4 so no spoilers after the end of s3.

Jon (I only recently discovered that there's no H in his spelling, whoops) aka The Archivist - Obviously Jon doesn't really have fun ever, so the main word I think of is 'austere.' He's a pale white guy with dark hair and greyish or brownish eyes who basically always dresses formally--collared shirts, slacks, maybe even vests, usually neutral colors. He's thin, but not fit--just the type of guy who doesn't put on weight since he doesn't focus much on food. Rectangular face, maybe has facial hair… I haven't decided, but if he does, it's like a goatee/mustache scenario that's always well trimmed. In my mind, he's young to mid 30s, but could look older. When he's scared or disshevelled though, he looks a lot younger. I think he's also kind of short, maybe 5'8", so he keeps really good posture to make up for it. Ben Whishaw is almost right, but he'd have to be homelier. S3 updates: Not really any? Although apparently it's Jon without an H. I've confirmed that he looks older than he is since the spider picturebook episode (which I would love Don Hertzfeld to animate, perhaps with assistance from Jules Feiffer who is 90 gd years old… that episode is so vivid in my head). Also I forgot Jon has worm… scars? Pock-marks? Not sure how that works, but you probably don't see them much, given I can't imagine him in short sleeves or shorts, although maybe he has a few on his neck visible pretty frequently, above collars. I'm was pleased to learn he is canonically asexual, but not all that surprised. Something about the way he interacted with Georgie in her apartment had me wondering… maybe it reminds me of me and my ex (I'm the asexual one, my ex isn't, but we still get along).

Martin - I immediately imagined Marty (Terry Gross Waters-Waters SAT tutor in Gayle) when I learned more about soft, sweet lad Martin, so Matty Cardarople has always kind of been in my head. That is probably just a similar name situation, but it's kind of perfect. Since Martin said he wasn't the smallest of guys but still made it into a basement window, I imagine he's kind of tall and chubby, but doesn't seem tall, slouchy, not the most confident person. Sort of a Neville Longbottom situation (before the glow-up). I think somewhere between Matty and Nick Robinson is around the correct appearance: a little more clean shaven and formally dressed than Matty often is with shorter hair (but still flippy), but softer than Nick is. This guy wears sweaters a lot. I guess he's canonically 29 at the end of s1--I had imagined him in his mid 20s somewhere, but I guess he was pretending to be older since he claimed he had a master's degree. S3 updates: Martin is probably the one who was most easy for me to imagine. I never really thought of his fixation on Jon to be a crush, which I'm really intrigued by in terms of character development. I was parsing it more of Martin being a bit of a subservient character, that he was like that to everyone in the office, but we only saw it from Jon's POV as the primary narrator. If I do a re-listen, I'll be very interested to pick out some Martin/Jon moments now that I have a different context.

Sasha (or maybe Sascha) - I sort of had Sally Donovan from BBC's Sherlock in mind initially. I tried to stray away from that and looked up "half black actress." I picked out Zawe Ashton without even realizing that she had in fact played Sally (in one episode, so not her main actress) because of her hair and skin and the fact that her face is pleasant, but not the typical hyper-button baby doll face that some actresses have. Sasha has natural hair with light curls (sometimes straightened). I originally pictured a small afro, but I think in s2, they refer to her as having long hair, so I guess not? I'm also not clear if that was Not-Sasha imitating her, or just straight up not looking like real-Sasha at all. She's slim, pretty posh/minimalist in style--grey herringbone peacoat, umbrella, boots. I imagine she's half Russian heritage-wise, since is a common Russian diminutive for Aleksandra. I would put her in the 25-27 age range. S3 updates: I caught on to Not-Sasha (partially because I saw the name in the voice actor credits, whoops), but I think I also caught something in Lottie's flat affect that clued me in. I thought that the imposter was just good at disguise, not that people had been cursed to forget what real Sasha looked like, so Melanie's introduction and take on Sasha/Not-Sasha threw me off a bit. I don't remember if the "long hair" comment was for real- or Not-Sasha. But I don't have any headcanons about Not-Sasha… just that she looks nothing like the original.

Tim - In my head Tim is the tallest main character, maybe 6'2", and pretty fit. He's imposing at first glance, but since he's so congenial and laid back (at least in s1 before Jon totally pisses him off) everyone who knows him knows he's a nice, fun guy. He's black, with fairly dark complexion, short hair, clean shaven. He probably wears sweaters too, but like… the thinner kind. None of this bulky knit from grandma that Martin rocks. I first think of Alan from Russian Doll (Charlie Barnett), but darker, just black instead of more mixed. I'd say he's around Jon's age. S3 updates: RIP in pepperinos. I guess him being fit is not unreasonable since he is… canonically? (does Alex and Jonny joking about it make it canonical) an outdoorsy adventurer. I certainly missed his friendly nature, but my headcanons didn't really change. He just looked a lot more tired up until the end of s3.

Elias - He is older than the rest of them, I would guess in his 40s or 50s, but given that it's canon that he rose in the ranks kind of quickly, maybe he's not that old after all. I don't really have a good mental picture of him, maybe because I can't differentiate his voice from John's a lot of the time until I piece the context together. In my mind he has a beard and mustache though, kind of full, and maybe dirty blonde hair that's greying a bit. S3 updates: I wouldn't be surprised if he carried a cane that was actually a sword or a gun (I'm American, so having a gun seems very easy to me, so I'm not sure if that would be rare in England). Also, did I hear something about having a grey bun? Maybe I'm completely confusing it with something else, but I'm chuckling about man bun Elias.

Michael - Well, he isn't human… but he looks kind of like a really pale guy who is mishapen and thus wearing a lot of clothing at first glance? He probably wears a lot of clothes so you can't really make him out under the trench coat, scarf, hat, etc. (I might be confusing him with someone else). I think it's canon that his hands are large and maybe have too many bones. For some reason, Michael reminds me of tourmalinated quartz--black and white for the most part, striations cutting through the clearer crystal--sort of like a metaphor for how he kind of… dimension hops? Ends up where he isn't supposed to? I imagine striations of his appearance sort of blip in and out when you look at him based on the static he causes on recordings. S3 updates: I now know that he was an assistant to Gertrude. I guess my idea of his human form is basically the same color and demeanor, just not other-worldly in proportions and bone count. Probably the tall gangly type of white guy. ALSO I guess he's kind of Helen now…? I'll do a separate one for Helen.

Basira - I assume she is a Muslim woman, based on her name. I imagine she wears a hijab. I picture her as Middle-Eastern, perhaps Iranian, but she could also be black (there are a fair amount of black Muslims in America, not sure if it's common in England). Other than the hijab, she's not very feminine in her styling. Being on the force probably means you want pretty functional, utilitarian garments. I don't remember if she talked in great detail about how she joined the police, whether it was straight from school, but in my mind she's late 30s.

Daisy - I think I recall she has a back tattoo? She's a murderer so she has a tough air about her, but she's also a subtle murderer, so nothing about her screams that she's dangerous… you just get that feeling, you know? I imagine a white lady, short blonde hair, blue eyes. Kind of like Brienne of Tarth, but more plain than ugly. She's maybe early to mid 40s. I'm not sure if her relationship with Basira is supposed to be romantic or not. I kind of prefer this weird closeness that doesn't always equate to trust given their specific experiences. Regardless, I imagine they are around the same age.

Melanie - Melanie is probably the youngest, early to mid 20s. Typical build and height, maybe a little chubby, but not unable to climb fences or anything (gotta hunt them ghosts). She has a short, asymmetrical bob, dark hair, but part is dyed a bright color of pink, purple, maybe green. I imagine she has a go-to windbreaker that has some neon colors.

Helen - I'm so sad that we had to lose Michael to gain Helen. I really love the Spiral and the characters we've met who are involved with them. Helen in my mind was a badass realtor, ready to close a deal, very driven… and that carried over into becoming SpiralHelen. She sort of outsmarted it with the locked door, didn't she? I can't imagine that's very common for humans/avatars to get the better of their entities. She seems really strong willed, so I'm excited to see where she goes as a human who is becoming an avatar. I think her personality translates into her being 40-something but like lowkey hot? She probably rocks a suit with a skirt in bold colors that men's wear usually doesn't offer (all over red suit, tailored to her, pumps, straight brown hair, nice makeup). I'm not sure how the Spiral would affect her… maybe her angles just get a little more pronounced? She's probably not yet to the point of disfiguration that Michael was anyway.

Georgie - She is like a terrier who will bark at a big dog because they don't know to be afraid of it (or… how to be afraid of it, in her case). She is short, 5'2" or less (I just remembered that a lot of the listeners probably use metric measurements, so sorry for that, but I'm not going to bother converting). I imagine she is cute--she dresses up for her dates to Hungarian restaurants (my favorite detail omg girl get it) and wants to look hot, but really she can't get away from cute. Brown curly hair, big brown eyes, button nose. But resting bitch face… gotta ward off those catcalls and get taken seriously somehow.

Jergen? I can’t spell, it’s Jurgen - Jowly white guy. Wispy caramelly colored hair that's going white. Probably pretty tall, which I'm sure what an annoyance in those tunnels.

Gertrude - At first glance, just some old white lady. But after you get to know her, you realize she can probably murder you and is nowhere near as frail as you think. Curly, wiry grey hair.

I'm sorry, I know I don't usually post discourse on my blog. I'm just... really hurt right now.

At the age of 24, after spending my entire childhood forcing myself to believe I was straight because that's what my family and religion said I was supposed to be, I finally acknowledged that I was bisexual. Even then, I was still second-guessing myself: What if I only think I'm bisexual because the internet/social media makes it seem like the "In" thing? What if my sexuality is just a mask and not who I really am? What if, what if, what if. It was hard.

Then I saw Voltron. Lance seemed to have a bisexuality arc laid out for him, and it was obvious that he didn't quite know he was bi and/or wasn't emotionally ready to acknowledge it.

That was just so validating. It made me happy to know that being confused about your sexuality -- not being sure if you're the sexuality you think you might be -- was common enough to include it in a kid's show and it made me feel so much better! I was so happy, and with Lance's help (and the help of my friends and therapist), I was able to finally accept my sexuality for what it was. And I'm an adult. Think about how many kids his arc could have helped! Kids who were questioning, kids who were unsure, kids that might not being surrounded by a good support system and have to hide who they are. Lance was shaping up to be someone kids could really look up, admire, and in turn accept themselves for they are because of him.

And now that's washed down the drain. It meant so much to me, perhaps meant so much to a lot of kids that needed that role model, but it clearly meant nothing to the writers and that is just so disheartening.

This isn't even about shipping. I love K/ance with all my heart, but I would be okay with any endgame ship so long as it was written well. This includes keeping the characters in-character and allowing the romance to help in their character development. Keith was the most likely candidate -- he really did make Lance a better person and vice versa -- but if someone else filled that role and filled it well, I would have been perfectly fine with that! But that's not what we got. Instead, the boy who has been insecure ALL SERIES has to spend his only romance building up his partner and have that not be reciprocated. That most-likely-candidate boosted him up more than Lance's actual romantic partner, and that is just bad writing. That's not a good relationship. Relationships are two-way streets; you can't have only one of the partners be supportive -- they have to be EQUALLY supportive. And A//urance was not that. A//urance was rushed, did not help the characters develop in the slightest, and took away TWO great role models.

I don't like Allura. I think I've made this clear before, but I really don't like her. I was neutral to her in s1, then the whole Not-All-Galra arc happened in s2 and my opinion of her started going down at that point.

But she didn't deserve the hand she was dealt. She was the only woman of color in the main cast, and they KILL HER??? WHY????? I may not have liked her, but that doesn't mean she was a bad character! On the contrary, she was a great role model and I'm sure many girls of color looked up to her. And then they just kill her? First they take away the great role model Lance could have been as a confused bisexual character, and then they take away the only woman of color on the main cast. WHAT. THE. FUCK. You can't just do that! I feel so horrible for the kids who looked up to those characters only to have it all ripped out from under their feet.

Oh, but there was a random gay wedding at the end, so that makes it alllllllll better~

Except it doesn't. Adding in a gay wedding/kiss with little-to-no build-up is more likely to cause confusion than anything else. And it doesn't erase how dirty they did Lance and Allura. Both characters deserved better.

On the topic of shipping, yes, it was queerbait. I refused to believe the showrunners were doing that -- I absolutely refused because I trusted the showrunners completely. Surely they wouldn't have ALL OF THESE ROMANTIC PARALLELS between K/L with other canon romantic couples for nothing. Surely they wouldn't have developed K/L's relationship more than any other relationship unless there was a really good reason for it. SURELY THEY WOULDN'T BE OKAY WITH VAGUING ABOUT THE SHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND BEING OKAY WITH DW USING K/L FOR MARKETING PURPOSES IF IT WASN'T GOING TO HAPPEN.

But nope. All of the media techniques to subtly hint at a romance used specifically for K/L meant nothing. It was just bros being bros nothing gay here.

And that is BULLSHIT.

Honestly, the whole season just screams, "SHOCK VALUE," to me. They wanted to shock people, but I don't think they really considered the repercussions of how they were doing it. I get shock value, bringing up the interest and encouraging audiences to rewatch the series to understand why the shock was actually built-up from the beginning, but there's right way to do it and a wrong way to do it. Voltron took the wrong way and screwed it up royally.

To be clear, I am not against straight ships. Far from it, some of my favorite ships are heterosexual. Nor do I fetishize mlm relationships -- K/L is only the second mlm relationship I've come to really love (the first being Hau and Gladion from Pokemon Sun & Moon). It's just that K/L really struck a chord with me and with so many other people, and to take that away for the sake of a straight ship and some shitty shock value? Dirty thing to do to the show's audience. Don't build up proper LGBT+ rep UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY FUCKING HAVE IT. The only rep? Shiro, and a hastily-added Zethrid/Ezor ship. Blaytz, too, but that was glossed over tbh and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the audience (not on tumblr because we analyze everything to death lol) completely forgot about Blaytz's interaction with that make Galra. That's not proper rep. That's throwing it in and thinking, "It exists so our job is done."

Media in general has being doing LGBT+ rep dirty for SO LONG. Even when we had positive LGBT+ characters in media, they were still characters based off of gay stereotypes. They were good positive characters, but were still perpetuating a certain bias against LGBT+ by displaying these stereotypes as fact. Times are supposed to be different now. We're supposed to be progressing, making it BETTER. I really thought Voltron was going to be part of that progress, that it would give us a well-written, well-developed, well-loved LGBT+ representation for kids of this generation to look up to and admire and learn acceptance -- about themselves and about others -- from. Instead, the showrunners three half-assed, tacked on LGBT+ reps and called it a day.

THAT'S NOT COOL.

This isn't about ships. This is about proper media representation for the LGBT+ community -- something that is really scarce, even now -- and how it affects the LGBT+ community when it's done badly. This also goes for racial rep. You can take two misrepresented groups and treat them horribly and then call it good rep. IT ISN'T. The poor representation of the LGBT+ community has proved to be detrimental in society's view of them. THIS DOESN'T HELP.

Off the topic of that, can we talk about how shit the writing was? Because it was really shit.

I'll admit that while I like s7, it wasn't written amazingly-well. Still, it wasn't bad and did have plenty of interesting episodes. Even with all of the asspulls we got in the last episode, it was still awesome because we got to see Shiro back in his element after losing almost everything in prior seasons. It was a mix of good writing and bad writing, but the good writing made up for the bad.

The seasons previous to that were well-done. Maybe not s4, but the other seasons were well-written and really enjoyable! There's a reason the show took off; the plot maybe standard, but the characters, character dynamics, and relationships were fantastic and were the true driving force behind the series and its success.

So why was s8 so all over the place? Why were plot threads that had been hinted at or outright confirmed left hanging or tied together hastily? So many things were alluded to in previous seasons only to lead to NOTHING. WHY???

Why did everyone BUT Lance get an arc?

What was the point of Lance getting a sword if it was never going to be brought up again?

Why was Keith's arc suddenly thrown to the wayside?

Why did Allura have to DIE for her arc to reach its conclusion?

WHY?

So many people complained about bad writing in Voltron, but I had always believed that the writing in Voltron was relatively good. Sure, it had its problems (like the entirety of s4, and the MFEs being boring as shit), but it was mostly a well-rounded show with well-rounded characters.

And s8... just threw all of that away.

All of that potential, all of those good arcs -- wasted.

The writing went downhill SO fast, and it's just such a shame. Something that meant so much to me has dissolved into the mess s8 was. It's disheartening.

I also want to apologize to all of my followers who followed me because my K/L optimism and metas. I'm sorry if I got your hopes up; I really thought K/L was the logical conclusion -- everything was building up to it, right from the first episode and even continuing in s7 (hell, even s8 added to it) -- and I truly thought the writers were going to follow through with all of the logical conclusions the previous seasons built up. I had faith in them, but I was wrong. For that, I apologize. I know it's just a cartoon show, but I also know how influential and meaningful media can be -- especially for marginalized groups -- so if my hype bringing you up made your fall harder when s8 was released, I am so sorry. You didn't deserve that; nobody in the fandom did.

I'm so jaded and disillusioned right now. Voltron has been a major inspiration for me; I originally decided to be a cartoonist to bring LGBT+ representation to children's media because of Steven Universe, but it was Voltron that really motivated me to reach that goal. I looked up to Voltron -- it was my muse, my main inspiration. I've learned so much about writing -- writing character arcs, relationships, etc. -- from Voltron and all of the analyzing people did. Seeing it devolve into what it did is upsetting. Something I loved so much has let me down, and I'm hurt and disappointed.

But more than ever, I want to create cartoons that don't do this; cartoons that tie up its loose ends, follow through with obvious character relationships, puts the main characters through complete arcs, and give proper development to them all. Cartoons that have proper LGBT+ and racial representation -- with LGBT+/characters of color that can be admired, that won't fall flat, that will teach the children of the generation about acceptance of others and acceptance of yourself regardless of sexuality, skin color, gender identity, etc. Voltron failed in that aspect; it was a compelling show that failed in everything it needed to succeed in. I refuse to make that same mistake.

With that, let's all look ahead to future and enjoy the fanworks that do these wonderful characters justice. Let Voltron's failure inspire you to create and make something better, something that will be much more impactful, much more meaningful.

since you haven’t specified which one I should mention and I know you well enough to know what you expect from asking me this so…

skam france: season 4 was well-written. yes, there was sometimes too much drama to handle but there weren’t any plot holes and everything that happened actually made sense EXCEPT MARLES GETTING BACK TOGETHER UGH but other than that yes. and AT LEAST they gave imane all 10 episodes and in two clips that had somewhat switched pov she was still the main focus of them in the end. some remakes should learn.

they seem to just pick all the songs from billboard top 100 list from years 2003-2019 and put them randomly in the clips only to have a Known Tune and it makes no sense for the story shown on screen

cutting clips that could’ve easily be long into short clips and then ending them abruptly disrupts the flow of the story and one longer clip would work better than 832882 long ones (for example see: wednesday clips from s3e3)

what they’re doing now with sander and robbe without showing us practically any interaction between them but giving us hints that yeah they talked with each other and spent some time together is not cutting through, they can’t cram 3 weeks of interactions and longing into one week (or more like 3 clips where they actually talked) and be like “yeah, that’s good, great job, jeff”

which brings me to my next point: it kinda seems now that they don’t have any lgbt writers in the team and it shows

skam espana: s1 was the least skam-like in terms of experience and acting and the work of camera of all the remakes

skam austin: it’s not even skam anymore, it’s another american show for teenagers and yeah, no, it doesn’t work

druck:

first of all mia and queerbaiting saga - the only reason why they made her bi was because fans wanted her to be and so first in s1 she says “i don’t like labels”, then the writers made her KISS HANNA, only to make her say like two or three lines that she’s bi in s2. AND THEN they made her break up with alex after they were kinda okay together (as much as a noorhelm couple can be) and literally 5 minutes after they broke up they queerbaited with mia and this other girl.that’s like… not how you write bi characters and it’s very, very harmful to the community. so stop.

secondly: the constant focus on boys and talking about relationship with boys only like that’s the only thing girls can talk about. spoiler alert: it’s not! first they made the bechdel test clip and literally the next day they forgot about it all and released a clip of girl squad (except mia who was too busy kissing alex) talking about boys and relationships only with boys (but not for mia because “mia has a choice”! yeah so do you!!!) for 7 minutes straight. love that for them.

thirdly: contrary to popular opinion season 3 was a complete mess and the writing decreased tremendously and acting wasn’t good either. matteo had all the signs of depression but they just completely ignored it and just made him smoke more weed and meet with his weed dealer and he was practically stoned through the whole season. also his outfits were plain awful and whoever says otherwise has no taste at all sorry not sorry

still at the third point: if you want to change MI storyline to trans storyline that’s amazing BUT you HAVE TO adjust the timeline to this and if you really want to make it right and use your show as a platform to raise awareness and normalise stuff just do this and actually show stuff and talk about them and mention it. one dialogue isn’t enough. all in all what druck did wasn’t good at all, there was no point in waiting for so long for matteo to meet with david again plus making david being outed their “big reveal” at the end of ep8 (aka clips when evens have an episode) was only there for shock factor

let’s move on to season 4 aka “amira where?”. it was basically kiki’s season first, then they literally changed pov to mia and hanna and made it even worse and more pointless. love that.

i think that mohammed was borderline creepy and some of his interactions with amira reminded me a lot of noorhelm?? and yeah, i wasn’t buying that

also sam. she was in like 1/10 of all the seasons and it seemed like they put her in the clips only when kiki really fucked up and someone had to deal with it OR for comedy relief. she was the least developed character in the show

oh and the person handling youtube comments in the show and some members of the cast saying “just wait :)” and “yeah amira’s season is over but there are still some episodes left with other characters so just shut up and enjoy”… yeah, it doesn’t work like that. they can’t expect us to be thrilled that they made even more mess of s4 than any of the remakes or og and gave their poc character only seven (7) episodes. you don’t do things like this. you just don’t

Hmm okay, honestly Penny and Julia are the only ones I remember clearly and am sure of. Like, I remember that the main blond guy’s name was Quentin but very little else about him because he’d come on screen and I’d sigh aggressively like dude I don’t care about you at all, I recognize that you’re trying fairly hard to get me to but I just don’t, there’s no spark, I’m sorry its not me its you nah its probably you tbh. Wait I already said that.

I mean, I know there was that blond girl, but I can’t for the life of me remember what the fuck her name was? I just remember that she and Quentin were love interests and then something happened halfway through the season where he had a threesome with Elliott and Margo I guess it was? And then I was ticked off for the rest of the season because the threesome was literally only ever brought up again to cause drama between Quentin and the blond girl and it felt gross and exploitative because at that point Quentin was like....he’d self identified as straight at least once early on, which is why we knew the threesome with another guy was supposed to be out of the ordinary for him except it was only treated as out of the ordinary BY Quentin in the context of like ‘oh but I didn’t mean to cheat on umm fuck why can’t I remember her name uggggh this is gonna bug me.’ 

But yeah anyway my point is it pissed me off the entire rest of the season that nobody ever brought up like.....soooooo do you have any kind of reaction, response, thoughts, feelings, ANYTHING about the fact that you slept with a guy and by all previous accounts that’s definitely not a usual Friday night for you and thus SOME kind of reaction to like....one’s first or likely first same-gender sexual encounter...would usually be at least expected to be touched on? Even if just a little bit? But noooooope. So I distinctly remember already being annoyed by that when that season’s Bury Your Gays happened with Elliott and his new LI just a couple episodes later...esp when that STILL didn’t prompt any kind of actual dialogue between Quentin and Elliott or even Margo about oh yeah, so about that thing that happened that actually does or should have significance to me beyond just omg we were on a break no we weren’t yes we were ugh SHUT UP Ross. Wait where did that come from. Ugh I should probably like, sleep soon.

Anyway, I know Quentin ended up bi and in an actual relationship of sorts with Elliott later? Or at least that’s what I heard? So apparently, that did at least get revisited and explored after I dropped the show, but whatevs, I’m still pissed. It shouldn’t be too much to ask that if you have an otherwise straight-identifying character cheat on his girlfriend with a guy for the sake of boyfriend/girlfriend relationship drama halfway into a season, like.....you can’t find ANY room anywhere in the back half of that season to have that guy at least spend ONE scene acknowledging that this has implications for him beyond just the cheating and even if he can’t unpack it all right now like, at least code into his storyline some indication before the end of the season that it WILL eventually get revisited and won’t just be totally swept under the rug? Because there was nooooone of that.

Oh and also I remember that after he cheated and had that threesome, the blond girlfriend slept with Penny specifically to get back at Quentin and make him jealous...like I think she even said something along the lines of now we’re even to him? Because I def remember my eyes narrowing into slits and being like oh hahaha okay, so you’re just going to use that other dude you’ve spoken maybe five other lines to all season JUST to fuck with your boyfriend or notevenboyfriendanymore and like, who gives a fuck that Penny’s like...actually into it right? Cool cool, that’s fun.

OH! NOW I REMEMBER! Okay, so I don’t know if Kady’s actress is a WoC or white-passing or white, tbh I’m having trouble picturing most of the characters right now, like visually, and I don’t think I ever recognized that actress from anything else. But I FEEL like, and maybe I’m misremembering still, but I feel like the confusion there was because Kady’s mom was one of the hedge witches and I think she was definitely a WoC, Latina I wanna say? And I almost feel like I vaguely recall posts talking about the fact that they cast a WoC to play her mother but Kady’s actress was white or at least of a different background than the actress playing her mom, and there was a whole thing there, kinda like with what happened on TW when they cast a Latina actress to play Malia’s bio-mom, but just in reverse here? Oooooooooor its possible I’m totally pulling that out of my ass and inventing it wholesale from like....misassumptions and random stuff from elsewhere in the series. 

But I remember that Kady’s mom was like....brutally killed off halfway through S1 and Kady didn’t even know about it for awhile, and I feel like I remember that as some of the racist crap they pulled that season because the mom was a WoC, and that all got intertwined with how Kady’s storyline was all about her being exploited by people using her mom as leverage and then her mom was unceremoniously killed off and nothing changed for Kady or her situation because like, nobody even knew or acknowledged it? Idk. I need to not try so hard to remember that season because everything that comes back to me just pisses me off hahahaha I forgot it all for a reason clearly ugggggh its just the worst. That show, man. I hate it so much lol. That writer’s room was like HOW CAN WE DOUBLE DOWN ON BEING AWFUL THIS WEEK!?!? I mean. That’s like....just my opinion and stuff!?!?!? LOL.

Oh anon, no. SB actually happening wouldn't have stopped those crazies. If anything, it would have made it a million times worse because they'd actually have canon to base it off of. So instead of looking stupid because there's no canon basis, they'd potentially have "well, you never know what could happen!"

I’m wondering what the plan was for SB. Maybe they were supposed to start dating at the end of 1x12 hence find someone new to be crazy about. But how would that work w Ronnie returning? Was it going to be a love triangle with Caitlin/Ronnie/Barry w Ronnie winning? 🤔 It’s odd she kissed Bates then married Ronnie a few eps later. I imagine 1x15 would still play out. So Barry would be cheating on Caitlin with Iris? How do you think it would have worked out?

TBH, I don’t think there was much of a “plan” at all, per se. I think they floated the idea casually and it was shot down. I think they would have nipped it in the bud themselves because how are you gonna have Caitlin working with them after being dismissed by Barry in favor of Iris? Nah, they did themselves a favor by leaving it at idle talk. 

I feel like at most it would have been one attempted date, but Barry’s busy thinking about Iris and Caitlin gets Ronnie back the next ep and it’s never brought up again.

I was talking to someone else about this mess and told them I kinda feel turned off now from the show due to grants behavior. But I was reminded that we have other excellent actors to watch the show for. It’s true Carlos and Candice do such a good job.

Don’t think this is hate but I’m really confused. You and others are saying GG is intentionally not supporting CP which I’m guessing makes him pretty horrible. What I don’t get is why does CP want to be his friend and speak so highly of him? We know CP has no issues with cutting someone like DP off for lack of support. I dunno I feel caught between two extreme point of views where one says GG doesn’t support CP at all and the other where they’re close friends. I’m wondering what’s the truth 😅

There’s a large gray area between GG not speaking out against the racial abuse Candice faces and him not being a good friend at all. Candice clearly respects and appreciates him, so he’s doing something right in her eyes.

Mr Flash man might have a hard time putting his words together right when talking about racism. On the other hand, he knows what to say on MLK day and he knows what to say when it comes to mental health like the I Don’t Mind campaign from Chris Wood. This is why I suggested to someone else that maybe he and Candice (jlm and cv if they want) should do a joint statement, post, whatever to show people they stand together against hate. Given the country’s divisive climate right now, it’d help.

A joint statement isn’t a bad idea at all, if he has a sincere desire to help but doesn’t know where to begin.

FYI people saying GG deleted comments saying he should support CP against racism is a rumor or straight up lie. When those who were claiming that was what he was doing were asked for info or proof their became very silent or ghosted. There’s a lot of reasons to be frustrated by the situation that doesn’t include making up things to use against GG.

I haven’t been on the twitter timeline or IG today, so I haven’t seen one way or another. Neither him blocking nor someone exaggerating surprises me, but in the end it’s about something bigger than him. It’s more relevant that media outlets be made aware and then proceed to make others aware about the situations for black actresses.

The one person who did get block said some rude as hell things to GG and called him a racist. I get people want to stand up for CP but if you go to a person’s post being aggressive and looking for a fight then guess what you’re going to get blocked. I agree with the points people are trying to make but attacking someone in their comment section gets nothing done.

I don’t think anyone would be surprised at G blocking over that. 

Depends. If it’s the same people that jump on every post he makes about any kind of deeper issue with but what about C is going through? comments I could see getting tired of that and blocking esp after he brought up something vulnerable to himself. honest? this has been discussed since S1 and I think fans that keep @ing G about it are only setting themselves up. Doing the same thing expecting different results. Drama about the same thing. Years ago he said smt like C knows I love her (= I support her in real life). Right or wrong, we already got our answer. I like G and I’d probs cry happy tears if he posted how C deserves better than the racists, but 4 yrs in we know the deal. Puts on glasses: now young lady, go enjoy your weekend ;)
