In both versions of them (canon and modern au), what would be Machete and Vasco's ideal date?

I think both of them prefer mostly quiet and chill experiences that don't involve a lot of loud and hectic crowds. They'd probably enjoy going to the movies, or theatre if they're feeling extra fancy. They like museums, galleries, antique markets and book fairs, and do a little bit of casual entry level hiking every now and then. Restaurants, bistros and cafes are a mixed bag, because on one hand eating out is such a classic low-stakes bonding activity, but Machete is a notoriously picky eater and doesn't like surprises when it comes to food.

lord its so dark in here the sahara desert of tsaritsa content you are like a shining oasis. your characterisation of her compels me & mihoyo would be hard pressed to top it imo.!! caaaaan i humbly request yr thoughts on her first meeting w a reader of any kind, or maybe even multiple kinds (sagau, sagau god au, isekai, etc) if you so desire...

it really is like a desert here. being the fan of a character we aren't getting until the last damn nation is driving me up a wall but i will persevere bc if nothing else i support morally bankrupt women in media. we r in a severe drought over here but i do my best. unfortunately nothing i say is ever coherent so pull out your translation notes its abt 2 be messy

also this got out of hand but thats bc first meetings w the tsaritsa are tricky to write + a LOT of her characterization lies in deeper exploration then just surface level yknow...NOT A DIG AT YOU this is just my excuse for rambling. gently pats the tsaritsa she can hold so much complexity i do not have the word count to delve into it completely :]

gonna talk cult au for a bit here though because that's 99% of my content. and honestly? she thrives in sub au's of the cult au like villain au + imposter au. it's basically made for her. i mean, early days, the imposter au had been going around for a little while but one of the first few ideas was the Fatui taking reader in so like. it kinda technically actually was. pretty sure cult au Tsaritsa popped up because of the imposter au. a lot of it's writers kinda left though which. man am i getting old or.

anyway.

there isn't much of a chance her first impression is all that positive. at best it's usually neutral, imo, but rarely if ever positive. specifically because i view the Tsaritsa as someone who isn't as fanatical as most of the acolytes typically are towards the creator. she's not exactly going to worship the ground you walk on unlike a certain geo lizard. which is partially why i think she thrives in the sub au's i mentioned.

imposter au, for example. she meets you at your lowest. there's no gaudy extravagance or pampering from the acolytes waiting for you because your own acolytes have turned on you. for all intents and purposes you aren't a "god" at all. which is why i don't think she meshes well with normal cult au reader. the Fatui are made up of outcasts, basically, and imposter au slots right in just perfectly. you're weak, at your lowest, when you meet the Fatui in the imposter au. and the Fatui can help you, too.

a mutual exchange, really. the Tsaritsa sees a tool she can use to one up the rest of the nations and especially Archons, and she has no qualms about you using her and the Fatui in turn. you both want something out of it, after all. whether you just want to be safe from the rest of the acolytes, or you want revenge, or whatever else..she'll give you the power to fulfill it, and she gains the strongest piece on the chessboard when all is said and done.

the best way i can describe the first meeting is "practical", i suppose. she sees an opportunity in you. the ultimate gamble. because if she "saves" you, and you dont trust anyone else because they tried to kill you, well..she holds all the cards, doesn't she?

but the Tsaritsa, imo, is just as capable of being just as fanatical towards you as anyone else. she just won't worship you as the creator. but as yourself? clawing your way back to your divine power and taking back what belongs to you? the Tsaritsa is, to me, a character who's character flourishes in long-term fics more because she changes a LOT between "just met reader" and after having been with reader for some time. she's practically apathetic at the beginning but a lot of her character, in my characterization, shines through LONG after the first meeting.

Summary: Inspired by The Dreamers, except make it 2010s and ｖａｐｏｒｗａｖｅ. Zagreus is a university student who feels aimless in life. His girlfriend dumped him, things between him & his best friend are weird, and he lacks ambition in his studies, all while the optimistic visions of his generation’s future are becoming lost. Until one day, he falls into the orbit of Achilles & Patroclus―a charming, yet eccentric pair who completely alter Zagreus’ outlook on life & death, love & loss, past & future, and the transitions in between. (Chapter 6 Summary: Zagreus, Achilles, and Patroclus all reconcile after the events of the last chapter, but soon Zagreus starts to become uneasy as they retreat further into isolation.)

Excerpt:

The next morning, Zagreus awakens to the same feeling as he had the day previous: of warmth, and of firm bodies snuggling up against him from both sides. He cracks an eye open to see Achilles’ smiling face staring back at him, his golden curls lying tousled across his forehead and cheeks. From behind, the pleasant, soft scratch of Patroclus’ beard tickles at Zagreus’ neck and back, and his gentle hands are wrapped around his torso.

“Mm?” Zagreus grunts, too sleep drunk to make much sense of these unexpected guests in his bed. Neither of them have ever come to Zagreus in his room before now.

“Good morning,” Achilles murmurs sweetly to him. “Did you manage to sleep all right?”

“Mm… I’suppose,” Zagreus mumbles sleepily.

“That’s good.” Achilles pauses, and tucks a lock of hair behind Zagreus’ ear. “Look, Zagreus. I’m sorry about what happened last night. Both of us are.”

“We feel as if we put you in a position where you became caught in the middle of our disagreement, and that wasn’t fair of us,” Patroclus continues for him. “Please accept our apology.”

If Zagreus had woken up here alone, with only his thoughts and the time to think on them, he might have slipped out and away on his own, without the two of them needing to waste their breath on apologies. Yet despite the fact that he is still groggy, unable to give this all of the consideration that it probably deserves, he finds it meaningful that they came to him first, both of them eager to make amends, despite what they put him through. Zagreus realizes he really doesn’t have the heart to throw it back in their faces. He still doesn’t quite understand, precisely, what caused it all to go wrong last night, just as he isn’t sure how the two of them managed to make amends with one another so suddenly and quickly. Regardless of whatever caused a rift between them, it has already been bridged, and they both seem content to put it behind them. Zagreus supposes that this is all right with him too.

“S’fine,” he slurs out.

Achilles’ sigh of relief is broken in half with a hitch. This close, Zagreus can see how his eyes fill, but not quite overflow with tears. Achilles presses a kiss to Zagreus’ lips that’s contrite and gentle.

“Oh Zagreus… you really are so good to us. More than we deserve, perhaps. Though truly, we are sorry. It won’t happen again.”

Behind him, Zagreus allows Patroclus’ guiding hands to roll him over so that he can offer his own penitence. He kisses Zagreus softly as he strokes at the back of his head.

“We wanted to make it up to you,” he purrs against Zagreus’ mouth, “So we have a surprise for you.”

Zagreus is more fully awake now. He sits up, turning his back to them. His movement is sudden, and so when he looks back around to eye the two of them over his shoulder, they are wide-eyed, as if apprehensive that Zagreus has decided not to accept their apologies after all. He grins.

“Show me,” he says eagerly.

Like, for example, Jerry is a lot more awkward and nervous than normal Buddy is

And also, King BB’s origins were different, I like to think he was a completely normal person, before getting stuck in the cave (somehow), breaking his legs while falling down the stairs, losing his marbles and having to eat snails to survive down there, and then transforming into … whatever big, blue, blobby creature King BB is due to the radiation- (idk how I thought of that, I feel like it’s a bit dark, but hey)

… also, King BB is larger than he is in the pic, I had to make him smaller so he would fit lol
