Wed 2 June ‘21
Louis sent a message to a fan looking for a hello after a major surgery-- “Get well soon mate. Sending you loads of love x”- and added that he hopes ALL of us are doing alright; I never doubted it Louis! Niall got a little more specific with his really lovely message today- “HAPPY PRIDE MONTH, BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. It’s your life, LOVE who you want to LOVE,” he tweeted! THANKS GUYS.
Liam though, Liam was all over today! He checked in on his way to play golf, on his way back from playing golf (with videographer Conor!), posted comments on discord, joined a new chat platform (Telegram; 5 minutes into Telegram and chill Liam was like OKAY it looks like we may need some moderators for this app lol YOU THINK?), he did a whole 25 min live, AND checked in even later to say he’d just had a shower and was about to play a new video game! New news of the day-- he is going to host a Veeps show showcasing new artists in July!! NEAT! His post about how his team forgot to turn off notifications on the phone they set it all up on for him on is really funny, YIKES; “this used to be an iphone now it’s just a bell” he joked, with video of the phone frantically chiming nonstop (“the power of you guys still blows my mind to this day”.) Also he said that he was very busy getting ready for June 15. Why, you ask, what is on June 15? UH? IDK?? He has so many things coming up? But that’s the NFT I think, which I KNOW a lot of people are mostly not that excited about but I will say that while I don’t care about the technology, I am excited to see Liam’s artwork he’s working on for it (which hopefully the purchaser will share with us), and Liam is truly so excited about the platform, he’s really trying to talk us into it. More on that in a sec...
But let’s get to the other parts of Liam’s live first. He has that new song coming, about which he said “it’s one that I’ve written the most on so far actually, as a single, I’m excited to say my own stuff for once a little”, love that. He’s still coughing but says he’s tested repeatedly and it isn’t COVID, and that he’s gone vegetarian recently, and he says the chat channels were inspired by seeing people using the veeps chat rooms even after the show ended, not wanting to leave. And he talks about 1D- about the notifs mishap he said “back in the band we used to wait for people we didn’t like to leave their notifications on and then we would like- oh make sure you follow this person on twitter! And then their phone would break for days- if someone did something that annoyed you.” HAHAHA where’s my masterpost of people who annoyed them 1D told us to follow, PLEASE? And also “it’s hard sometimes you’re watching people stories from afar that you used to know so well and that can be difficult… we’ve all felt this at different times me and the boys… it’s almost like missing a very dear friend a lot of the time but everyone’s so busy… I’d love to get us all in a room somewhere sometime” aww. But also he said he talked to Harry recently, “really a lovely call, he has a sixth sense for if I'm struggling or if one of us is in trouble, I spoke to him and it was a really lovely catch up. I have a lot of love for the man, he's really, really great"; well I wish Liam wasn’t stuggling but that’s lovely. And Louis too! "I spoke to Louis, I wanna say yesterday. We speak a lot, there's just a lot of laughing about random crap," he said, plus some Louis memories- “I can just hear his laugh in the back of my mind. We once broke into one of the stadiums in America and got chased by a woman… on one of those cop type things, a mall cop thing, and that was quite crazy. He also left me on my own while I was being arrested nearly by a French policemen that I had to push over… which that still scares me to this day. [laughing] That’s what friends are for! I helped him over the fence to get in somewhere, he left me with the policeman, who didn’t have a clue who I was and tried to arrest me even though I was just trying to go into my hotel.” UMM sorry I can’t hear anything past LIAM PUSHED OVER A COP?? Go ahead, make a list of ‘1D members most likely to fight a cop’ and if Liam isn’t DEAD LAST you’re just wrong and yet HERE WE ARE!! WHAT A DAY.
But alas rather than fighting cops now Liam is partnering with an entrepreneur (which I have had to type so many times in the last two days thanks to Liam that I guess I know how to spell it now they just keep SAYING it SO MUCH). Steve Bartlett said “the secret” is out, he recorded a podcast with Liam yesterday-- I’d call secret a bit strong, we had actually got that mate, but okay; he called Liam an entrepreneur and said “yesterday I recorded one of the most powerful, honest, REAL conversations on my podcast to date” and “if you love Liam you’ll love this.” I can absolutely guarantee you that is not true, I love Liam and already hate everything about this collab, but his wording does make me think we’ll get a bit of Liam’s trademark emotional spillage which I suppose I might appreciate despite this self help CEO guy being there too. Liam does have one thing to say that could sway me in this guy’s favor though- “he has the cutest dog ever” apparently! Anyway I may as well get used to him he’s suddenly everywhere-- Liam also patched him into his live to try yet again to convince us that NFTs are good by awkwardly relating it to “fans of boybands” by saying you know this could eliminate like fake tickets and such… Sure Steve sure but anyway he also says of Liam, “the guy you see on camera is the exact same guy off camera”.
Harry and Olivia were seen together in London (well, a grainy ass video of their backs was seen anyway), walking, with some people who look to be her parents and Harry’s PA (so romantic! Not at all work related!) I was initially skeptical of the claim that it was her parents since this fandom is obsessed with saying everyone is so and so’s parents (we’ll NEVER top the time the fandom was sure Harry was seen having lunch with Eleanor’s father though) but it actually seems like maybe it was. More for Harry to add to his collection, that man truly loves an extended family! I mean the whole thing is sketchy as hell, from the assurance that that’s DEFINITELY actually Olivia in the grainy video, FOR SURE, to the confirmation that that’s her mom with them which came when a blank insta page produced a random old picture of her mom in the same skirt, but like is it them, sure I imagine so, and people making sure we get the story anytime they’re together isn’t exactly new. In other news, Dave Meyers, director of the Adore You music video, says he originally pitched the Eroda story idea (“I have this idea, of you love- liking a fish”) to Katy Perry and the Black Eyed Peas, ASJKJASKL CAN YOU IMAGINE?

aw, sweet loceit in the evening sun. logan is actually super good at explaining healthy relationships and boundaries and stuff actually, i betcha he could recognize abuse no problem
…aye remy! REMY!! HAve you thought about going to that gay bar more often? who knows, maybe you'll encounter someone nice, make friends with like-minded people, hear some disco, the full nine yards. janus might be there, remus might be there. (just look around for the guy with the blue tie, he's a great guy, if he's not wearing it he'll look like he has that blue tie kinda energy! you could totally just get drunk and unload your grievances on him and i bet he won't even mind!)
(Mentions of U!Virgil but I say beforehand when that happens so those who don’t like U!Virgil can enjoy the rest of the fic up until then)
(Words: 4100)
Remy wiped away a tear while looking at your message. The cold light from their phone was the only thing brightening up the room. Virgil was sleeping beside them, his arm was laid around their waist.
"You just like tots gave me the greatest idea! I'm gonna invite Rem out to the bar! It's gonna the funnest thing like ever! Thanks girl!!"
--
2 days later Remus was dangerously close to eating the moss straight from the gay bar's wall. He had been left without supervision for over 15 minutes while he sat outside waiting for his friend to show up, what else was he supposed to do?!
"SSSSUUUP BABE!!!"
Remy came towards him as fast as they could. They had on a short leather skirt, a neon mesh crop top and a leather jacket over it.
They did a little turn "I just like felt a bit glamorous today!"
Remus choked on his own spit "The world must be a dark place when you aren't feeling glamorous"
"Awwww babbbe"
He sent them a big grin. He'd just put on his usual oversized dysphoria hoodie and matching oversized (:O) sweatpants.
Remus' smile disappeared in an instant as he noticed dark bruises all around Remy's neck. Shades of purple and green collided against each other.
"Ehm did a vampire come and attack you last night? Seriously are you alri-"
"JUst a reminder that it will be loud in there" Remy interrupted.
"Oh. Right!"
He fumbled around in his bag after his headphones. After putting it and a chew necklace on he did a thumbs up. Remy took off their sunglasses and leaned down so they were face to face.
Their face was so close he could feel their breathe against his lips. They put the sunglasses onto him and sent him a soft smile.
“There’s like lots of bright lights too” They explained.
Remus’ heart fluttered. He didn’t understand why “T-thanks”
They moved their arm around his shoulders as they went into the bar. It was past 12 am so some of the daytime furniture had been moved to make place for a dancefloor. There was indeed lots of neon lights flickering all around the bar and fast pop music was blasting through the speakers.
It was hard to see any details of anyone around him so Remus quickly forgot about the bruise. In this lighting it just looked like a weird choker anyway.
A guy with a see through shirt bumped into Remus. He had top surgery scars. For a moment they looked at each other in the most knowing way. The stranger looked away and continued talking with whoever he was with.
Remus whole body seemed to vibrate. There were so many butterflies in his stomach it felt like he was going to puke, in a good way.
Remy sat him down on one of the tall barstools and slumped down right next to him “So whatcha gonna drink?”
“The squashed down organs of my enemies!!!” He shrugged “Soda?”
They burst out into laughter “What? You catholic or something? Not allowed to drink alcohol?”
He slumped in on himself and started fiddling with his necklace “I-I dunno-”
“No. No babe I was just like joking. Like a stupid bitch. It’s okay” They waved at the waiter “Your most alcoholic fruit mix and your finest coca cola please!”
Remus leaned in to whisper “With salt”
“With salt? Please!”
He kept vibrating like an overexcited weasel. After getting their drinks he kept tapping the glass to stim some of the happiness out.
“Honestly I’ve never been to a gay bar before. I’m digging it. Just like how I’m digging graves”
They playfully hit his shoulder “Then I’m tots gonna try my best to make this the  ultimate first gay bar experience! I can’t think of any other lil fucked up gremlin buddy I would wanna have by my side!”
"Muhahah!! I am officially assigned ultimate gremlin buddy-”
“Greetings” A voice suddenly came from behind them.
Both of them flinched away. Remy let out a short yell and Remus was close to throwing his drink in the person’s face when he saw it was just Logan.
He had on jeans and a black button up with the top button unbottoned. He had with him iced coffee from starbucks because he had to drive home later.
“LOGIE!!!” Remy threw their arms around his neck to pull him closer “Babe this is the Log-legend. Once he was like sooo drunk so when he like tried to kiss me puked on my shoes instead!”
Logan grimaced “I am still very sorry about that”
“Oh I already know him through Janus” Remus replied.
“Oh my gawd babe” Remy looked between them all “So like we all know Janny?! Wig! Sad he isn’t here then”
Remus held up his cola “Cheers to J-anus!” The other two held up their glasses in agreement.
“Cheers”
“Cheerio!”
“He is very pretty and charming and cute” Logan dreamily sighed. He stopped himself from continuing to say compliments.
“Yeah” The other two sighed back in unison.
Logan sat down on a chair next to them. Remy looked around the bar before squinting at him “No Patty?”
He instantly started looking like a Very sad seal “Sadly my wife is away on a convention with her magical girl anime fanclub this whole week. I estimated that going to the bar would make me feel less lonely”
“You have a WIFe??? Like a real one???” Remus exclaimed, his eyeballs were close to popping out from surprise.
“Yes. This may be a controversial opinion but when I marry someone I prefer them to be physically real” He replied druly.
He got a smug grin on his lips “Does she peg you?”
“She does far more than just peg me”
“Nice!” His eyes went even wider “IS That a stim toy??!”
He pointed at the tangle Logan kept between his fingers “Correct. If I do not have something to relieve my focus onto I can easily go into senso- OH a chewie?”
Remus nodded while showing of his chew necklace. The two of them started rambling about their favorite stim toy. Until they went off into special interests (star trek/astronomy and art/animal biology respectively).
Soon enough Remus was showing pictures of the animal bones he’d found. Logan ooeh and ahhed at all of them before asking the most nerdy of questions (where he’d found them, their bone density, if any damage had been done to them) which only made Rem infodump which made Lo infodump which made them both happy stim.
Meanwhile Remy sat beside them completely zoned out. They got time to drink 2 more of those fruit mixes and a few shots. The room was starting to spin.
The loud music wasn’t keeping out the yelling. They dunked their forehead against the bar table and covered their ears to try and get it out. The music was supposed to keep it out! Why was nothing working! The bruise ached. Their throat closed in on itself until they couldn’t breathe.
“Remus” They gasped out. They looked over to their friend with a desperate look in their eyes. They just needed a distraction.
“So my theory for why you keep finding bones in specifically that part of the woods is because of the kind of dirt making it take longer for them to deco-” Logan was explaining while Remus nodded along.
“Rem! L-let’s like go up and dance or something. Please”
This time it caught Remus’ attention. He looked over to them “Sure- are you feeling alright? Did you drink too much? You’re looking like a mummy”
“Yes. No. I just like- Like- They’re playing Charli xcx of course we gotta like dance!!”
“I will protect your belongings then” Logan added.
Remy stumbled up on shaky legs. Remus sent them a warm smile that made them want to cry before taking their hand. He let them lead him out to the dancefloor. Honestly he was pretty nervous about it, but being with them always made some of the anxiety melt away.
They stumbled on their own feet and fell forward. Their friend took ahold of their wrists and pulled them close to his chest. Their faces were so close to each other. So so close.
He didn’t let go. They couldn't remember him ever letting them hold him this close. Their chests pressed against each other. Their arms around his shoulders. His hands on their back.
"You’re right. It is a good song. Good to crash a car too" Remus said absentmindedly.
Remy let up into shaky giggles from how sudden he’d said it “Yeah. Yeah I guess”
They kept giggling. He chuckled back. He started spinning around on the dancefloor. They moved with him. His arms wrapped closer around their waist. Their cheek leaned against the slope of his neck (even though they had to lean down to get on his height level).
Remy quietly sang along to the music which made Remus start yelling along to it. The enby threw their head back from laughter. They took his hand and intertwined their fingers.
Remus moved his hand out and spun them around before pulling them close again. Their cheeks were flushed red, his was as well. He playfully dipped them down when the song ended.
It continued on into a song neither of them knew but they kept dancing anyway. They didn’t stay as pressed close to each other but they always had some contact. Holding hands. An arm around a waist. A head leaning against a chest.
When they finally got back to the bar table they were both panting. Remy was completely leaning on Remus since their body had started to hurt, but even through the pain they were both bubbling over with so much happiness they kept breaking out into bouts of giggling.
To their surprise Logan wasn’t sitting alone. A tall person with long dark hair sat on the chair beside him. Xir hand was on his thigh. The nerd had a soft smile on his face as they leant close to talk.
“Uh Lo?” Remus had to wave his arms around to get his attention.
His head shot around to look at them “Hello” He glanced to the person “These are the ones I was protecting belongings for” He stood up and held out his hand “Shall we?” Xir took it. Logan waved at his friends before going off to the dancefloor with the stranger.
“Huh. Good for him”
“I guess”
Remy ordered another high alcohol fruit mix. Remus happily chewed on his necklace while humming along to the music. Between their chairs their hands hang with their fingers intertwined. Holding their hand had started to make Remus feel all funny in the head for some reason.
The enby watched on as Logan and the stranger danced for a bit before moving to a corner to make out. When the stranger started to lead him towards the bar’s bathrooms Remy turned to their friend.
“Yeah okay he’s not coming back for like a while. Smoke break?”
“Of course!”
They finished their drink before leaving the bar. The pair stopped right outside. Remus sat down on the side of the pavement. Remy tried to sit down but they stumbled over themself and fell flat on the ground.
Remus got up to help “Are you okay? Are you sure you haven’t drank too much?”
“I’m fine. I’m fine” They laughed out.
He sat them down on the pavement while dusting off their clothes. He patted them on the head while pouting “You should get some water”
“Naaaah babe. I’m good”
In the moonlight the bruise was visible again. That horrible dark purple bruise around their neck. It looked like it hurt.
Remus put his hand on their shoulder “Beanie are you alright? I do know it wasn’t some halloween monster that got you that bruise”
For a moment their whole body tensed, they forced a smile “It’s fine. me and my boyf just tried like some new kinky shit in the bedroom y’know. Nothing more” They lied.
They took out a cigarette pack and a lighter from their bag. They traced their thumb over Remus’ lower lip and opened his mouth just slightly. Remy leaned closer while putting a cigerette between his lips. They lit it.
Remus took a deep breathe. It’d been a while since he’d last smoked. He leaned so close the cigarette nearly touched Remy’s skin. They parced their lips as he breathed out the smoke right into their mouth.
A smile spread on their lips. He held the cigarette over to them but they shook their head. They looked around in their bag again and took out a small poppers bottle.
“Should you really take that. Won’t your brain melt out of your ears?” Remus asked “I really don’t wanna have to slorp up your brain juice...yet”
“Relax babe. It’s like not dangerous as long as I don’t like take too much and I only take when partying” It took a moment before they quietly added “And I only party when I need to get out of the apartement”
“What?”
They forced on a bigger smile “What?”
Remy moved the popper up to their nose and inhaled as much of it as they could. It took a few seconds before they let up into a giggle. It was in a higher tone than their usual bubbly laugh, it almost sounded like cackling. They could see stars.
(U!Virgil mentions from here on out)
“Y’know my boyfriend gave me like a flashback or whatever last night” They giggled while swaying from side to side.
Remus gently grabbed their shoulders and moved them to lean against him so they wouldn’t fall over “Uhu. Did you stab him?”
“No silly. He just. He’d been soooo sweet all weeek and I just I just ruined it ‘cause i like overeacted to some joke he made while like we were washing the dishes” They were barely even aware they were speaking “And like it just kept going until we were like screaming at each other”
Remy was still smiling and giggling between every word but tears started to form in their eyes. Their fingers felt numb. Bile was rising in their throat.
“And he just like threw the plate he was holding down on the ground. And it like didn’t hit me. He wasn’t even aiming at me. He was just throwing it at the ground. But it shattered and it was so stupid and overemotional and stupid and pathetic but I just I just curled up on the floor and like had a panic attack like a stupid baby”
They smeared their hand across their face to try and get the tears away. They felt sick. Remus quickly put out his cigarette, it didn’t feel like the right time to smoke.
“And I just like- Is that normal? Is that fine? Like throwing stutff like that? I-I- he’s never done it before. Or I mean like not plates” They looked up at Remus “Is it fine?”
He gulped while fiddling with his hoodie sleeve “Well uh did he apologize?”
“Mhmm. He like- like for some minutes he like kept yelling ‘cause he thought I was just like faking a panic attack to like I dunno manipulate him but then he like comforted me and like calmed me down and like held me and cuddled all night until I fell asleep and- and he said sorry a bunch of times and like he said it would never happen again. He uh usually doesn’t lie”
“Well ehm then it should be fine right? Right?” They both shrugged at each other “I mean everyone can make mistakes! And it was during an argument! Everyone does drastic things during an arguments! So it’s fine. I think”
A shaking breathe of relief left Remy’s lips. They stretched themself over his lap and he moved his arms around them. “Thanks babe. I was like tots worried for a bit but y’know i was thinking like that too. So it’s fine”
“Yeah” He combed his fingers through their hair “You do know you can vent to me whenever right? I promise I won’t gross you out with details about how to pull out rabbit teeth ever again so if I can hold that back then I can also listen to stuff! I can super listen!!”
They closed their eyes. They felt so tired. So tired and sick and horrible. “Mhm. I know babe. I know”
Remy sent him a soft smile before suddenly puking. Some of it came on his pants but mostly on the ground. Remus stood up and carefully moved them down to a sitting position.
He rubbed up and down their back with one hand and held their hair back with his other. Their shoulders were shaking and they were taking in shallow breathes between every sudden throw up.
“It’s okay beanie-boo. Breathe. Breathe. You got all the time in the world. Until the sun blows up at least”
“I-I took- too much- too much” They slurred out before lurching forward again. It seemed to stop for now.
“I’m aware” He carefully wiped away some of the puke left around their mouth with his hoodie sleeve.
They leaned back against his chest. They closed their eyes and focused on breathing. He held them so so gently. As if they would break like glass otherwise. He pressed a kiss to the top of their head.
“There you are!” Logan said as came through the bar entrance “What a relief. I assumed you had left without me because you thought my actions were unacceptable” He noticed how pale and shaky Remy looked and got a worried look on his face “Is everything alright?”
“They feel like someone has slammed a fish into their stomach. Not good” Remus replied.
“I see. I suppose it woud be best to get them home”
Logan picked Remy up with ease to carry them to his car. He was quite sure he’d carried dogs that weighted more than them. Remus anxiously followed along.
He sat them in the passenger seat. He shook their shoulders until they opened their eyes. They let out a quiet whine.
He held up 4 fingers “Remy how many fingers am I holding up?”
“Fuck yourself”
“Noted”
They moved to the side and seemed to pass out again. Logan closed the door before turning to Remus.
“Did they take anything?” He whispered.
“Only a popper”
“Good. Do you need a ri-”
“Bus”
“Okay” Logan was about to go but stopped midstep and lowered his voice even more “Oh and Rem...Could you please not ask Janus to hang out next weekend? I am planning a surprise...I hope it will make him happy”
“Good luck comrade....Please text me once Remy is home safe. Please?”
“Of course”
He did a little nod before leaving. Logan got into the car. He couldn’t stop looking at the bruise around their neck. Remy continued to sleep for most of the ride until they they were 5 minutes or so away from their apartment. They suddenly flinched awake.
“Stop the car!” They gasped out.
“Are you still feeling the same?”
“Logan stop the fucking car!” There was fear in their eyes.
Logan stopped by the side of the road. The road was barren and dark. It had to be past 3 am at least. Remy crawled back into the backseats while their whole body shook.
“Don’t. Look. At. Me”
“Sure” He stared down into the steering wheel to not accidentally see their reflection in the glass.
“I just. I just have to change clothes. I just. I don’t want Virigl to call me a whore again. I mean. He won’t. But what if. What if he gets mad. I just. I just have to change” They slurred out.
They stumbled out of the car after changing into a pair of long pants and closing their leather jacket. A cold chill went up Logan’s spine. He quickly stepped out of the car as well.
“Okay bye bye Logie!!”
They tried to move but Logan grabbed onto their shoulders. He forced back a choking feeling in his throat “What do you mean by your boyfriend getting mad?”
“Pff! It’s nothing! I’m drunk!! Byyyeeeeee”
They started to stumble away but Logan easily followed along “It did not sound like he called you a whor-...you know what...with your consent. I am simply going to remind you that calling a partner things like that is not okay. Not in any circumstance”
Remy’s expression turned cold. They walked faster “I don’t like what you’re implying”
“I’m not implying anything”
“Yes you Fucking are!”
“Exscuse me for being worried about your wellbeing. What you just said sounded like a very bad sign”
“Yeah exactly it only SOUnded bad! My boyfriend isn’t bad!” Remy snarled out.
“I am not saying he is. He doesn’t have to be bad to say awful things, as long as he changes”
They shoved their hands into their pockets. Their hands moved into fists “You don’t know a fucking thing about me. You tried to kiss me once when you were drunk and that’s all. We don’t know each other”
Logan took a deep breathe “I don’t need to know you to see red flags. Remy-” He searched for words “Remy you’re bruised. How- you can’t expect me to not get worried”
Remy suddenly stopped and turned around to meet his eyes. “MY BOYFRIEND ISN’T ABUSIVE! I-”
“I’m not necessarily saying he is. I just wan’t to talk-” His voice started to sound desperate.
They looked like a cornered animal. Tears were brimming at the edges of their eyes “YOU DON’T KNOW A THING!”
“Remy-”
“I DID THIS TO MYSELF!” Their hand went up to the bruise “I DESERVED IT! VIRGIL DIDN’T DO A FUCKING THING! I DID! I TOOK A BELT AND HURT MYSELF! OKAY?! VIRGIL CARES ABOUT ME!”
He tried to sound soothing “Remy please take a deep breathe-”
“NO! NO! YOU KNOW WHAT LOGAN?! THERE IS STILL CUM ON YOUR FUCKING LIPS FROM YOU SUCKING OFF SOME STRANGER IN A DIRTY BATHROOM! SO NO! I AM NOT TAKING LOVE ADVICE FROM SOMEONE WHO IS CHEATING ON HIS GODDAMN WIFE!”
They stormed away. For a moment Logan was frozen in place before he forced himself to run after them to try and make sure they would be okay.
“I am not-”
Remy looked at him for one last time. The look in their eyes made him feel cold. It was pure hatred.
“Logan get the fuck away from me! I am drunk and high and alone on a street with no one but you who is sure as hell fucking stronger than me and all you’re doing is spouting bullshit! So please get why I want you to leave. And why I don’t ever want you to talk to me again!”
He stopped dead in his tracks “...Right....Yes....I am so sorry”
Remy didn’t even respond. They simply turned and walked away. Logan stayed and watched to make sure they got home to the apartment safe before going back to his car.
He slumped down in the seat. His heart was racing and his thoughts were for once an illogical flurry. He sat motionless for several minutes before finally getting some semblence of an idea.
He took out his phone and dialed one of his usual numbers. It took several signals before Emile Picani picked up.
“Mhm? Logie bear? I can’t today I have clients in the morning” He yawned out.
“This is about one of your patients. I am fearing that they are in danger”
In an instant all of the sleepyness in Emile’s voice disappeared “In danger? Physical? Is it urgent? Do I need to call someone? Which patient are you even referring to?”
Logan hesitated. If Remy had reacted that strongly to him just attempting to ask about his boyfriend it was very likely that they would stop going to therapy if Emile brought it up. His throat tightened, he didn’t want to put them in any more danger.
“I....Nevermind Emile....This was just a far too gone joke...Someone dared me to call you. I am sorry. Have a good night”
He ended the call. He leaned his forehead against the steering wheel and let out a long sigh. His hands held onto the wheel so hard his knuckles whitened.
Logan had no idea what to do. No idea at all. All he knew was fear. Fear for Remy’s safety. Fear for their well being. Fear that anything he did would only make their situation worse.

can i get a good night’s sleep? can i PLEASE get a good night’s sleep?!
or: five times peter parker doesn’t sleep + the one time he does
my contribution to the @friendly-neighborhood-exchange! this is for @snarky-drabbles - I hope you enjoy it!
1.
The first time is actually just the first in a while. Peter’s had problems sleeping ever since he was a little kid; it was just one issue of many that stacked up on top of each other, resulting in his personal belief that he must be the most difficult kid to look after on the planet.
Asthma meant hundreds of dollars spent on inhalers, covering what their shitty insurance didn’t. His poor eyesight was the same story and the bullies that used to break his glasses had never helped. But it wasn’t just physical crap, of course: he’s had anxiety for as long as he can remember.
There are cute side-effects like panic attacks and nausea, not to mention the constant sense of impending doom he’s been nursing since… well, birth, probably. When he was younger he’d worry about whether or not the taxi driver had enough gas in his car to get them where they needed to go, or maybe Ben would get shot at work (ironically enough, he’d never worried that Ben would get shot off-duty, and there is a teeny superstitious sliver of him that believes maybe if he had considered the possibility it never would have happened, like some kind of a reverse jinx or something).
One of the other cute things that comes along with it is insomnia.
So here he is, pacing in his kitchen at three in the morning because May isn’t home yet.
Her shift ended at two. She’s usually back within a half hour considering the hospital isn’t far, hence his agitation.
He’s tried calling and texting to no avail, and he keeps telling himself that everything is fine, that she probably just got held up; meanwhile his subconscious provides a great slideshow of mental images that speak to the opposite—her getting kidnapped because somehow someone links her to Spider-Man, her getting hit with a car, mugged, shot, slipping on black ice—and that’s actually not far-fetched considering it’s January, there’s a lot of it, and so he pulls out his phone and types, You didn’t slip on black ice and die did you? to May.
No little dots appear to signify that she’s typing. The message doesn’t even change from ‘delivered’ to ‘read’.
She has her read receipts on. She’s promised him. There’s no reason she’d change that, right? But maybe she accidentally switched them off when she was scrolling through her settings.
He calls her.
“Hi, this is May Parker, I’m unavailable at the moment but if you leave me a message I’ll get back to you as soon as—”
Peter hangs up with a dissatisfied grunt.
It’s only then that he realises, to his great dismay, that he’s paced all the way onto the ceiling.
In his shock he loses concentration and falls. “Ow, fuck.” He pulls his aching knee to his chest. It’ll no doubt be bruised soon. “God has forsaken me.”
He picks up his now cracked phone and texts Ned:
I just fell off the ceiling at 3 AM in the morning
Don’t ask me what I was doing on it
Every bone in my body is broken :(
No reply comes which is pretty typical; Ned probably passed out in front of his PC like, hours ago. Peter can picture it: the light of his computer screen casting a blue glow over everything in the room, his head probably tucked into his arms to muffle his snores (and there’s also probably a bowl of stale popcorn spilled across his floor at this point), his creepy mother lurking in the doorway—or worse, trying to find out how to snoop through his laptop while he’s out of it.
Peter could totally go swing down there and help the guy out. It would be something to do anyway.
But no. The door is too far. His suit… too much work. It’s definitely better to just stay here curled up under the table like a little turtle.
But wait—a blanket.
Is it worth the effort? Probably. Peter scans his immediate surroundings and, oh boy, Lady Fate is actually on his side tonight because there’s a gigantic purple fluffy one hanging off the couch and it only takes a little bit of physical exertion to yank it down and wrap it around his body.
He burrows deeper into it and scrolls through Instagram. MJ posted a picture of a banana today. Literally like, just a banana. No caption, no explanation on her story, nothing.
Peter double taps it and comments: i hope u asked before u took his jacket
No like. No reply. That makes sense. It is three in the fucking morning, after all.
No. Three thirty. It’s been an hour and a half.
What had May said once? That it was okay to call someone if she was two hours late?
Peter tries texting and calling one more time and then just sits there, staring at his home screen and watching the minutes pass. At exactly four AM after much deliberation and stomach churning, he calls someone else.
Three rings later: “I’m in Vienna right now so this better be good.”
Peter feels even more nauseous than before. “Oh,” he says. “I guess—never mind, then. Sorry.”
“Wait, wait, that was just for show and I’m greatly intrigued as to why you’re calling me so… early? Late? Anyway I’m out of the conference room now so lay it on me.”
Against his will, Peter’s lip quirks up. “Um, it’s kind of stupid—”
“Nothing is ever stupid,” Tony says. “Especially when it’s coming from the brain of a kid with an intelligence quotient of 260.”
He feels his cheeks heat up and then it all just comes tumbling out, “It’s really late and May was supposed to be off at two and home by two-thirty, but she’s not and I don’t know what to do. I tried calling and texting but she’s not replying and I know that I’m probably just building it up in my head but I can’t help freaking out because like, what if she got stabbed or slipped on black ice or—”
“Hey Pete?”
“Yeah?”
“Breathe.”
Tony’s voice has softened immeasurably. Something uncoils in Peter’s stomach. He flops onto his side and closes his eyes. “I’m breathing.”
“That’s good, kiddo. Now just hang on a sec, I’m gonna call the hospital.”
“What? Why?”
“Well she works there, right?”
“...Yeah.”
“And you haven’t tried calling them yet, correct?”
“...Correct.”
“Ergo,” Tony says.
“But I—”
“Yeah?”
Peter bites his lip and then he just blurts it: “I don’t want you to hang up.”
He feels like such a child but the thought of losing connection with Tony is literally making his heart palpitate and his palms sweat. He needs someone. He needs an adult.
“Well lucky for us both I have two phones.”
Peter cracks an eye. “You what?”
“I’m Tony Stark, don’t question it. Hang on, let me just—hello, hi, um, I need this room. No, it can’t wait. Yes the whole room. Yes locked. I don’t know, five minutes? Ten? An hour? No, I’m not joking. Thank you. Thanks. Yeah. Okay. Bye now.” Something slams shut—the door to the office Tony just stole, probably. “Okay, just a sec, I have the number for the reception desk she works at in my phone.”
Peter, for some reason, feels immeasurably comforted by that. He sits in silence gnawing on his lip while Tony has a somewhat muffled conversation he can’t hear the other side of. Then, “You still there?”
“Yeah, I’m here.”
“Okay, well, they said she’s covering for someone and can’t get to the phone because a baby had to have emergency surgery so she’s literally in the OR as we speak. Pretty badass and not bad as far as excuses go. Now that you know she’s fine and not dead by ice, how about you get some shut-eye, okay kid?”
Peter swallows. “Yeah. Okay. Thank you, Tony.”
“No Mr. Stark this time, huh?”
“It’s too late for formalities.”
“I see,” Tony replies. “Sleep, okay?”
“Okay.”
The line goes dead. Peter, slightly relieved but not fully consoled, rolls over to face the door. He doesn’t sleep at all that night and is still there when May comes home at six in the morning with bagels and apologies.
2.
The anniversary of Ben’s death is always super weird.
This time it takes him a few minutes to remember what day it is: he’s in the middle of brushing his teeth and then it hits him like a train: oh, it’s been three years.
Then comes May. She usually tries to cook something for breakfast but like always it burns. He leaves the bathroom to the sound of the smoke alarm and fans a cookie sheet at the screeching little device while she swears up and down in Italian.
“It’s okay, May, really—”
“No, it’s not!” She snaps, tossing a batch of blackened cinnamon rolls into the trash. “I just want this day to be easy for you!”
Peter goes over to her and, after kicking the oven door shut with his foot, pulls her into his arms. May starts to cry even though she tries not to; sniffles turn into barely stifled sobs. He knows that it’s harder for her than it is for him. Ben was her husband and they’d been married for thirteen years when he died. Sometimes he still catches her looking to see if he’s laughing too when they watch TV, only to find an empty recliner.
“It’s okay for it to be a bad day,” he whispers. “You know that, right? I mean, I love you to pieces, May, but I don’t wanna see you bending over backwards for me.”
“But that’s my job, doofus.”
Peter pulls back. He’s an inch taller than her now. “No it’s not. We take care of each other, okay?”
Then comes school. Ned usually hovers nervously like an agitated gnat, too afraid to say anything, not sure if he should act normal or be sad in solidarity, which means it’s kind of Peter’s job to set the tone. As he’s putting his combination in for his locker he asks, “So did you beat that level of Obra Dinn last night?”
Ned, shoulders slumping with relief, starts to ramble on about how hard it was to do and how it took him like, thirty whole tries.
They go to class. Peter zones out. He doesn’t bother making more web fluid or ditching and he gets so inside his own head that Coach Wilson compliments him again during gym class. Peter deliberately slows down after that, even if it’s kind of irritating; being physically active actually helps work off his anger.
Because that’s what he is more than anything else: angry. At the mugger, yeah, but at himself more than anything else. It was his fault that they were out that night, anyway. It’s a wonder that May doesn’t hate his fucking guts.
When school is up Peter comes home to an empty house. He thinks about going on patrol but doesn’t really feel up to it, and then he feels bad for not wanting to do it because like, what if someone is dying?
So he puts on the suit and swings from rooftop to rooftop, but there’s no action today. Peter eventually settles on a fire escape with a burrito. A stray cat hops up after a while and, despite his matted fur and crazy eyes, Peter decides he has a kind of quiet dignity about him and names him Charles.
“Do you like beef?” He asks, holding some out for Charles to sniff. The cat yowls and, without any warning other than that, nearly chomps Peter’s fingers off to get the meat.
“Ow, jeez!” Peter shakes his wrist. “I was literally giving it to you for free, but go off I guess.”
Charles blinks his big brown marble eyes and then literally jumps off the fucking ledge. Peter leans over and watches him scamper across the street, somehow not getting hit by any traffic. Sometimes he thinks his spidey sense is more like feline sense in that way: he could probably manage the same thing with his eyes closed.
After a while the sun sets and all of the streetlights turn on. Peter does another patrol around the immediate vicinity but again, nothing. He stays out anyway though because he’d rather do his Chemistry homework behind a dumpster than sit alone in the apartment with nothing but the quiet for company. At least out and about there are sewer rats and mangy dogs and shady characters who actually just turn out to be skateboarders.
Peter is almost done with his assignment when the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end.
He looks up and finds Iron Man himself coming in for a landing. The suit drops with a barely audible clunk; it’s Mark 54, the sleekest and most lightweight model yet.
“Oh thank God,” says Tony’s voice, “you’re not dead.”
Peter frowns even though Tony can’t see it. “No,” he agrees slowly. “Why would I be dead? What are you doing here?”
“Well, your aunt called me in a panic at around four when she got home and you weren’t there, and then I checked the scanners and saw that you’d been here, completely stationary, for like five whole hours—needless to say I had a little bit of a heart attack and here I am, relieved and also mildly infuriated. Care to explain, young padawan?”
Peter opens his mouth to speak. Closes it. Opens it again and, “It’s four AM?”
“Four fifteen,” Tony corrects.
“I didn’t even—I didn’t know! Shit, May’s totally gonna kill me, I might as well be dead—”
“Woah woah woah,” the faceplate lifts, “calm down, okay? No one is mad. Just, uh, concerned, I promise.”
Peter is still frantically packing up his school supplies and not really listening. He only stops when Tony gently touches him by lightly gripping his elbow. “Kid?”
Peter stares down at the older man’s hand. Behind the mask his eyes start to burn. “Ben died.”
“Pardon?”
“Ben died,” he repeats louder. “In this alley. Two years ago.”
All at once Tony’s face falls. He moves to sit by Peter on the grimy floor of the alley while the suit hovers nearby, a hollow shell, just the way Peter feels now.
“Kid,” Tony says, “take off the mask.”
“What? No, I’m in public—”
“No one’s around,” Tony says. “Just take it off, okay?”
Peter does, reluctantly peeling it back to reveal his tear-stained cheeks. Tony stares for a second and then, almost hesitantly, he wraps his arms around Peter. “Do you wanna talk about it?”
“I—” he chokes. “I’m just so tired. I’m tired of having to watch May be strong for me when I can’t be strong back, and I’m tired of Ben not being around. I miss him and it—it’s not fair.”
“Of course it’s not. It’s never fair. That’s why it hurts, kiddo. You’ve got all this love and no place to put it.”
Peter bites his lip to stop it from quivering and looks away, pressing the heels of his palms into his eyes. “I just feel pathetic.”
“Don’t,” Tony says firmly. “I felt the same way after my mom died and it… In some ways I don’t think the feeling ever actually went away, but uh, take it from someone who’s had a lot more time to process: no one is expecting anything from you, okay? And I can guarantee there’s not a single human that thinks two years is long enough to be perfectly fine again. You’re allowed to still be upset about this.”
And Peter is. He’s really, really fucking upset about it and so tired of holding it in. Tony pulls him against his chest when Peter starts to cry and it sort of seems like he’ll never be able to stop. There’s just so much, so much guilt and pain and all kinds of other bullshit that he refuses to lay on May.
So he lays it on Tony. And it’s surprisingly not horrible or awkward or even the end of the world.
“You good?” the older man asks, when Peter finally sobers up enough to wipe his cheeks dry and take a few steadying breaths.
“Yeah,” he says, voice ragged and awful-sounding. “Um, sorry. For freaking you and May out and ruining your shirt, I mean.”
“You know there’s this really snazzy invention called a washing machine—”
“Oh my god, shut up.”
Tony laughs and it makes Peter laugh too, and the tension between them just sort of dissipates. “Speaking of clothes,” Tony claps his hands together, “you got any to wear in that backpack?”
“Uh, jeans and a hoodie?”
“Fantastic, incredible. Throw them on, I’m taking you out for breakfast.”
“But what if someone sees?!”
“Let ’em. I’ll have Pep release a statement claiming you as my personal assistant or head intern or something.”
“That’s totally unrealistic.”
“Do I care? No. Just—okay? Up and at ’em, make haste, come on. What do you feel like, pancakes or waffles?”
They bicker about which is better the entire way to the little diner Tony choses, and Peter comes home full an hour later. May is fast asleep at the kitchen table. He kisses her forehead and starts on breakfast for her.
3.
He’s thirty minutes into helping MJ study for her AP French test when she finally gets a question wrong. “‘Il n'est pas clair que’?” Peter queries, holding up the flash card.
“‘It’s not certain that’?”
He makes a pitying noise. “Close. ‘It’s not clear that’.”
“What’s not clear, exactly? That if I see one more word in French I’m gonna blow my brains out?”
Peter snorts. “No, actually it says more clarification is required on how much you like your boyfriend. Suggestions to improve that include: a hug, a kiss, both—”
“Neither?”
He pouts. “Mean.”
MJ rolls her eyes, but she kisses him first. She tastes like the Twizzlers they’ve been eating and her hands are in his hair and she laughs when he presses his lips to her cheeks and nose and forehead.
They somehow end up in an incredibly compromising position. “You know,” MJ muses, “I don’t think I’ve been studying the right kind of French.”
Peter, hovering over her (oops), nods in agreement. “This kind is definitely way better.”
She wraps her arms around his neck and he’s so consumed with this: her and him and the smell of her jasmine shampoo—that he almost doesn’t hear it.
Almost.
Peter rips away abruptly. “What was that?”
She groans. “God, you’re such a dog sometimes.”
He ignores her, sitting alert with his eyes narrowed at the window and, sure enough, there it is again: a faint, blood-curdling scream. “Someone’s being attacked or something. Maybe four blocks away tops.”
MJ squints. “Don’t tell me you can echolocate.”
“I—” Peter’s mouth snaps shut and then opens again. “I actually don’t know. Anyway, I gotta go.”
He presses a quick kiss to her cheek, throws on his jacket, and quickly ducks out her fire escape (which happens to be the same way that he came in). He slips the mask on and tosses his hood up; it’s raining in heavy, icy sheets and Peter is drenched within seconds of swinging. He remembers the first time he’d gone out during a storm; the webbing he’d made hadn’t held up because the chemical formula hadn’t accounted for the massive amounts of water-based reaction, so the biocables had evaporated as they left his shooters. Thankfully he hadn’t jumped first that day, otherwise he would be a Peter Pancake.
Another scream sounds. Peter follows it and winds up latched onto the side of a two-story brick building. There’s an incredibly dark alley below, but a quick flash of lightning tells him everything he needs to know: one man is trying to wrestle a woman down, while another is rifling through her purse. He’s also holding a gun.
“Oh, cute,” he mutters sarcastically.
Peter tries to time it right: he takes aim and shoots a web right at the weapon with the next bout of lightning, but to his immense misfortune, the armed mugger had already seen him and was aiming right back. The bullet hits Peter in the side.
“Ow,” he says, “that was uncalled for.”
He drops. His side is throbbing and hot but he ignores it in favour of disarming the guy who shot him. It’s a brief struggle but Peter ends up whacking the gun out of his hand and webbing it to the wall opposite. Then he knocks the guy out with a solid upper cross to the temple.
Peter rounds. The assailant has already fled, leaving the woman shivering but relatively unharmed.
“You okay, ma’am?” he asks.
“Me? That guy shot you!”
Peter looks down at his side which is now stained with blood. “Oh, yeah.”
He’d actually forgotten for half a second. Now that the adrenaline is wearing off, he’s starting to really feel it: a burning sensation in his abdomen, an aching that pulses from his stomach to his chest. Ah. Wonderful.
A little dazed, he shakes his head. “Don’t worry about me. Super healing. Are you good? You need me to call you a cab?”
“What? No, um—the police station is like, down the block, I can go get them.”
“Are you sure? Because I can totally do that—”
“I can handle myself,” she says sharply, bending down to pick up her purse and the discarded items within. “It’s just… there were two of them and there was a gun and—”
“I get it,” Peter says, his hand pressing harder into his side as the world grows blurrier around the edges. “You really don’t want me to at least walk you down?”
“I’ll take a taxi,” she says. “You just, um, get yourself fixed up, okay? And thanks.”
“Yeah, sure, anytime! But, y’know, preferably never again,” Peter says, and proceeds to swing away.
Tony doesn’t expect to get woken up at two AM after only just falling asleep five minutes before, but such is life; FRIDAY’s voice bleeds through the speakers above to inform him that Spider-Man is currently rifling through the Med-Bay and bleeding from a wound on his side.
Pepper looks at him. “You heard that too, right? That was real?”
“It was real.”
They both scramble out of bed. Tony takes the lead, throwing on his jacket as he runs toward the elevator. It’s times like these when every second stretches out into an eternity; it takes maybe five of them to get from their floor to the Med-Bay, but it feels like forever.
The doors open and there’s Peter, perched on a gurney with his shirt gone and a whole lot of blood staining his side. He’s bent awkwardly, clearly trying to feel his way around whatever wound he’s got.
“Um,” Tony says, approaching, “What.”
Peter looks up and—yeah, he’s lost a lot more blood than Tony had originally thought. His face is fucking drained. “Hey,” he says, offering a jaunty wave before returning his attention to his side. “I got shot.”
“Oh!” Tony nods. “Oh, okay. What the fuck, kiddo?”
“I know, right?” Peter glances up. “Hey, Pepper.”
“Peter,” she returns. “Do you mind if I wash my hands and take a look at that?”
“If you want. It’s kinda gross, though.”
“Believe me, I’ve seen worse.”
Through this exchange Tony was already washing up, and now he dons a pair of gloves and sits on the rolling stool. “Looks like it’s through and through,” he tells Pep over his shoulder. “Could you grab a couple suture kits and, uh, the stuff?”
Pepper makes a face. “The stuff?”
“You know,” Tony says, “The Good Stuff.”
Her eyes widen. “Oh, that stuff.”
Tony feels around the area. “Do you know what kind of gun was used?”
“Looked like your standard nine mil,” Peter replies. His voice is growing a little slurred.
That’s good though, about the gun. Means there’s probably not any bullet fragments to worry about. Tony grabs a load of gauze and presses it against the wound. He checks Peter’s pulse while he’s at it and finds that it’s slowed considerably. “We’re gonna have to get you some blood, too. A neg, right?”
“Yuppers.”
Tony excuses that because after all, the kid is bleeding out on a table. Said kid actually starts to swing his legs back and forth and, yeah, that’s not gonna fly. “Do me a favour and lay back? I’m gonna put this towel right under you for now.”
Peter doesn’t have any arguments, or if he does, he doesn’t vocalise them. Pepper comes back in with the kits and drugs and, because she’s just smarter than him like that, bags of blood.
Tony grabs the vials first and loads up a syringe. Peter is pretty numb to all of it until the needle goes in. Then he frowns. “Why are you injecting me with alien blood?”
Tony rolls his eyes. “It’s not alien blood, it’s a pain killer. A serious one at that, so you’re probably gonna feel a little out of it for a while, okay?”
Peter frowns. “Is it for Steve?”
Tony tenses, but it’s only for a second. “Yes,” he says, somewhat tightly.
“Ugh. What a turd, Mr. Stark. You’re giving me turd vitamins!” Tony scoffs while Pepper laughs. Peter notices. “See? She thinks I’m funny.”
“You’re not helping me here,” Tony says to her.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Here, have some thread.”
Tony sighs. “Just stay still for me, okay?”
Peter does. Pepper passes him various supplies and they work together to sew up both ends of the gunshot wound. By the time they’re done, Peter hasn’t moved once, but his eyes are open and he’s frowning.
“How do you feel?”
“Wired,” he says.
“Seriously? Bruce never said anything about the side-effects, but I figured they’d be like normal pain-killers; make you drowsy and all that.”
“No,” Peter sits up quickly and doesn’t even flinch. “I feel like I just got steroids or something. Are you—are you actually telling me that Captain America’s drugs are infused with a stimulant? What, so he can keep fighting even when he’s in the middle of dying?”
Tony blinks. “Well that was smart of dear Banner.”
“Yeah, or insane.” Peter flexes his hands. “I feel like I need to go for a run, or like, break something.”
“Let’s avoid that,” Tony says, pushing him back down. “You need to heal, not mess yourself up even more, understood?”
Peter stares. “Is it normal to see sounds?”
Pepper bursts out laughing again. “I’m sorry,” she says when Tony glares. “Really, I am, I promise. Peter, honey, how about we get you to a bedroom where you can rest up? We’ll call your aunt and explain everything.”
Everything is going fine until May asks, “How did you get to the Tower so quick, then?”
Peter blinks. “Hmm? Pardon?”
“If you were at Ned’s,” May says, “how’d you manage to swing all the way across town?”
Peter opens his mouth and closes it. “I, uh… well, funny story, um… I wasn’t actually at Ned’s?”
There’s a pause over the phone. Pepper, who’s holding it, raises an eyebrow. May says: “You told me you were going to Ned’s, Peter.”
His face feels hot. He hopes it isn’t red. Both Pepper and Tony—from the doorway with his hands stuffed in his sweatpant pockets—are staring. It’s almost as bad as if May were really here.
“Well I was going to Ned’s, but then I changed my mind and went somewhere else and oh—look at the time! I think we’re going through a tunnel—”
“Don’t even try to pull that crap! That’s it, I’m coming over there—”
“May,” Peter says, serious now, “you’re in the middle of a shift, there’s people dying. Just—I’m perfectly fine, I took my Captain America drugs and everything is gonna be okay.”
“But you lied to me.”
“No, I changed my mind.”
“And went where?”
“Irrelevant.”
“Peter.”
“May.”
She groans from the other end of the line and demands to speak to Pepper one on one. Tony’s fiancé grins and switches off speaker, before slipping out with a bright laugh to finish off the conversation. Tony stares expectantly. “So where were you?”
“Oh my god, not you too. You know, on second thought, I actually am completely exhausted and—”
“Uh, nope,” Tony flops down onto the bed. “Fess up.”
Peter sighs. He squirms down and covers his pillow with a head. “No.”
Tony joins him under it. “Tell me.”
Peter scowls. He rolls onto his side so they’re facing one another. “I was with my girlfriend.”
“Oooo—”
“Shush! It’s… it’s really not a big deal and I haven’t told May yet because MJ and I haven’t even really talked about it and it all happened super fast and—” he remembers to breathe, “I just… I always tell May everything, you know? But I kind of just felt like… this was something I had to figure out first on my own. Maybe it’s stupid, but I know she’s gonna be super hurt when she finds out it’s been a month and I haven’t said anything—”
“Kid,” Tony cuts in. “Calm down.”
“I’m calm,” Peter promises, because he is. He’s also just incredibly hyper and stressed.
“It’s a normal instinct to want to figure things out and define them before you start announcing them to the world. I get that. But you’re still a kid, Pete, and even if you don’t want people prying into your love life, we still need to know where you are in case something goes wrong.”
Peter harrumphs as he turns away. “There’s a tracker on my phone and my suit. It would be easier to find me than anything else.”
Tony clicks his tongue. “You got a point there.”
“I just wanted time.”
“I know.”
“But I really like her, okay? Like she’s so smart and she’s got this really dark sense of humour and she’s actually kind of terrifying sometimes—”
“Oh, the scary ones are always fun.”
They stay up talking through the night and, when the sun comes up, Pepper joins them with a tray of freshly made blueberry waffles. May arrives around the same time and, looking too tired to be mad, simply drops onto the bed with them and steals what’s left of his food.
4.
Peter is on patrol when he hears it:
a soft, quiet yelping coming from somewhere down below the rooftop he’s perched on.
At first he figures he’s imagining things, but then his ears perk again. He leans over the building’s edge to find the source of the noise.
In the dark it’s hard to make anything out, so he climbs slowly down the side of the wall, squinting. There’s another yelp and a low whine, almost pained. Peter zeroes in on the sound and creeps toward a set of dumpsters; they’re so full of trash they’re overflowing, and it’s underneath a broken down cardboard box that he finds it...
A puppy.
Now, Peter is no liar. He’s wanted a dog since he was like, a fetus. The words ‘A dog’ have been on every birthday and Christmas list for as long as he can remember. It’s only recently, in the years since Ben’s death, that he’s pretty much given up—after all, May is so overworked and they can barely afford to feed themselves. How could they afford a pet?
But also…
This is the cutest dog he’s ever seen.
It’s tiny and fluffy and brown and has the biggest, saddest eyes he’s ever seen.
Peter kind of just stands there staring like an idiot for a good few seconds and then slowly kneels down. “Um, hi,” he says, in the gentlest voice he can manage. The puppy, who can’t be older than a few weeks and looks completely starved and exhausted, whines in response.
Peter holds out his hand for the dog to sniff. It lifts its head lazily and leans forward, nose twitching and dry. “You need water, huh? Come on, I know a place.”
“Shelob,” Tony greets without looking up from whatever project he’s working on. “What can I do for you at… one in the fucking morning?”
“I need your help with something, but you have to promise you won’t get mad or make me get rid of him—”
“Oh, for God’s sake, what have you done now?”
“He was just so helpless and cold and small and…” Peter swallows and reveals the puppy, presently wrapped up in his hoodie. “Meet Nugget.”
Tony’s face is the epitome of Disappointed Dad. He stares, open-mouthed, and after a second his shoulders fall. “Well, fuck.”
Peter snuggles Nugget against his chest and steps closer, but then Tony holds up a hand to stop him. “Nah-ah! Not until that thing gets a flea bath!”
Hope sparks in Peter’s chest. “You mean we can keep him?”
“I mean there’s no way I’m getting near him until I know I won’t break out in hives.”
“That’s not how fleas work.”
“Do I care? No. Come on, let’s go to the bathroom.”
“Why do you have flea shampoo?”
Peter’s inquiry is made tentatively. They both have their hands in the sud-filled sink as they systematically wash Nugget’s fur.
“There was… an incident a while ago. I don’t wanna talk about it.”
Peter stares. Blinks. “Okay. Well, I think he’s clean.”
Nugget barks as if in agreement, and so Peter and Tony lift him out of the basin and set him on a pile of no doubt expensive, fluffy white towels. Tony takes the lead after that. He’s surprisingly gentle and patient with the yapping, impatient puppy—even when Nugget tries to claw at him and shake himself dry, Tony never loses his cool.
A few minutes later they’re sitting on their stomachs watching Nugget stomp around on a blanket. There’s water in a bowl for him at one corner and a plate of chopped up chicken at another.
“I can’t take him home,” Peter says morosely after a few minutes. “May won’t let me keep him.”
Tony raises an eyebrow. “Where does she even think you are right now?”
“...In my bed.”
“Wow,” Tony says, deadpan. “Okay, well, I most certainly can’t keep him either.”
“What?! Why not?!”
Tony sighs. “I’m Iron Man, if you hadn’t noticed, kiddo—”
“Oh, what, so you’re too tough to look after him?”
“No, I’m too busy. I spend like, twenty-three out of twenty-four hours in a day in my shop and the rest of the time I’m on my knees apologising to Pepper and begging for forgiveness. There’s no time in-between to feed the pup, walk the pup—”
“I could come by,” Peter blurts. “Like, once a day, and I could make sure he’s eaten and play with him and stuff. You wouldn’t have to lift a finger—”
“Except to press ‘purchase’ on my shopping cart full of dog food—”
“Tony,” Peter cuts in, pleading, “please? I can’t just drop him off at some kennel so they can—” he covers the dog’s ears, “so they can euthanize him in a week when no one buys him. He deserves so much better, you know?”
Tony frowns, considering it, and Peter waits with his breath caught in his throat until, “God, fine.”
“Yes!”
“But! But! A pet is a serious responsibility, okay? You might as well be adopting a child—”
“What would you know about raising kids?” Peter asks, only jokingly, but Tony just stares and then, for some reason, smiles.
“You have to make sure he’s happy,” Tony says. “You have to be there for him in whatever way he needs, alright? I’ll set up a pen in the penthouse and you can make sure he works off his energy there, and if I have time I’ll even take you both to the park. And if he ever happens to pee on my carpet, I’m counting on you to clean it up.”
“Don’t you have, like, housekeepers for that sort of thing?”
“Yeah, but this is character building stuff.”
“Ugh, fine, I’ll clean up the pee.”
They continue to iron out the details for a while and bicker over whether Nugget’s last name should be Parker or Stark, and it’s only when Pepper walks in—still in her pajamas, bleary eyed and complaining that they woke her up—that they both decide it should be ‘Potts’.
5. (+1)
It starts with a headache.
He’s bent over his desk studying for a Calc test when the throbbing begins. It’s not so bad at first, but after a half hour or so his vision is swimming and he keeps having to take breaks to massage his temples and close his eyes. The equations are all blending together and he can’t think straight anymore.
Peter decides to give up right around then. After all, if he’s not gonna retain any of the information, why bother?
May pokes and prods through dinner. Peter tries to fool her by acting like everything is normal and okay and even manages to make her laugh once or twice.
Inside, dread is coiling through his stomach like an irritated snake. He knows what’s coming next; after all, he doesn’t really get sick anymore, so what else could it be?
Peter tries to sleep but ends up tossing and turning for most of the night. He falls into some kind of half-conscious daze at around four in the morning and rouses about twenty minutes later, soaked with sweat and aching everywhere.
Feeling like he’s gonna vomit, Peter kicks off his blankets and strips the sheets off his bed. He takes his shirt off because the fabric is too abrasive against his skin and it’s like he can feel every fibre tickling against it, grating and chafing. He curls up into a tight ball and covers his ears with his hands to block out the now amplified sounds of the city: car alarms, dogs barking, music playing.
Normally Peter loves the way New York is never silent. Now, he just wishes everyone would shut the fuck up for once.
When he stumbles out of his room a little while later, May is already gone. She’d told him the night before that she had an early shift and for once he’s actually grateful. Haltingly, Peter gets ready for school. He’s already skipped three days this month and if he misses this Calc quiz he’s gonna fucking bomb the class.
May would kill him.
It’s better to suffer a little than die.
Brushing his teeth makes his head spin and the minute he wriggles into his clothes he feels like a caged animal about to claw his skin off. Everything takes so much longer than normal. He doesn’t eat because the mere thought of food makes the back of his throat sting with bile.
On the train, he closes his eyes and rests his head against the cool glass of the window, trying to tune out the constant screeching of the rails. One day, on God, he will make it a personal project to oil every fucking line in the subway.
At his fifth stop, an old lady boards and all the seats are taken.
Peter swallows thickly and stands. Black spots dance in his vision and he grabs onto the overhead bar—something he hasn’t actually needed to use since he was a little kid—and tries not to pass out.
He almost misses the stop to get to school, but slips out at the last second, millimetres away from getting his backpack caught in the doors. Peter is hot all over and lightheaded as he makes his way out of the station. It’s even hotter up above, what with summer coming now and all.
Peter is late and he doesn’t need his watch to tell; Flash’s car is already parked out front instead of zooming through the drop off to run him over (which, hey, silver lining), and the majority of the student body is already inside.
Peter has to stop multiple times on his way to Spanish just to breathe. By the time he gets there he’s at least ten minutes late for roll call.
“Mr. Parker,” his teacher greets, unimpressed. “So glad you could join us.”
Peter makes a noise and takes the proffered quiz. He wonders absently why some people choose to teach. What is it, like, some kind of power trip for them?
He has five minutes to finish the quiz but doesn’t make it past the first question. Ned volunteers to collect them and stops at Peter’s desk while Professor Scott outlines today’s lesson plan.
“Dude,” he whisper-hisses, “you look like complete shit. What on Earth are you doing here right now?”
“Test,” Peter mutters dully, resting his cheek on his hand and closing his eyes. “Here you go. Didn’t finish it.”
Ned takes it carefully, holding it with two fingers like it’s covered in disease. “Do you want me to get the nurse or something?”
Peter hums. “No. Just… headache.”
Slowly Ned backs away. “Um—”
“Mr. Leeds!” Professor Scott says, loudly. Ned jumps. “Is there a problem back there?”
Yes, Peter thinks. You’re the human version of nails on a fucking chalk board. Please, for the love of all that is holy, just start on the vocab.
Only he accidentally says all of that out loud.
The whole class is staring. Flash is slack-jawed. Betty Brant’s eyes are the size of small moons.
“Parker,” Scott grits out—and Peter has denominated him to just Scott now out of reciprocation and spite; “You just earned yourself a shiny new detention. I’d like you to take this slip to the principal’s office. Please.”
Oh, thank God. At least it’ll be quiet there.
Peter stands and brushes past Ned and it literally feels like flames of hell are licking against his skin. He almost vomits. This is decidedly not good.
He takes the paper. “Gladly, good sir.”
When he’s gone, there’s an outburst of muttering that his enhancements let him hear. It only makes the overload worse. Peter covers his ears with his hands again and, overcome with a sudden wave of vertigo, ducks into the bathroom.
He barely makes it to the toilet before emptying his stomach of last night’s food.
Peter sags against the wall, panting. He keeps his eyes closed and waits for the world to stop spinning. About ten minutes later, the smell of jasmine shampoo—normally welcome—causes him to lean over and retch again.
MJ pokes her head inside the unlocked stall. “Jesus,” she whispers. The second her hands touch his body he flinches and she immediately retracts them. “Fuck, sorry. Ned said you wigged out in Spanish. I looked for you in the Principal's office but you weren’t there and... What’s—what’s wrong? I thought you couldn’t even get sick.”
“Bad headache,” he mutters, spitting into the toilet. It’s easier than explaining about his freakish mutations and how they sometimes go completely haywire, leaving him on edge and nauseous and irritable.
MJ grabs him some toilet paper to wipe his mouth with. “Did you take anything?”
“Pain meds don’t work on me.”
“Does May know? You should have called in.”
“Couldn’t. Can’t miss my test.”
She sighs. “Your final is like fifty percent of your grade and you could pass it with your eyes closed. You can miss your test, you’re just afraid of getting anything lower than an A.”
Peter is silent. “You got me there.”
MJ’s hand twitches like she wants to touch him but knows she can’t. “You need to go home. Lie down, get some rest.”
“May is working,” Peter says, “and if I have to take the subway again right now I’ll die. I really will. It’s so—the smell and the noise and I can’t sit down and—”
“Give me your phone.”
“What?”
“Just give it.”
She’s holding her hand out for it and giving him a no-nonsense expression that kind of reminds Peter of Pepper Potts on a rampage. He’s seen what happens to Tony when he crosses her, so he fishes his phone out of his pocket and hands it over.
“Hold on.”
She stands and leaves. Peter closes his eyes again. He tunes out her conversation because if he doesn’t, he’s absolutely gonna vomit again and nobody wants that.
MJ slips back inside the stall. “Okay, solved. Do you still feel like you’re gonna vomit?”
Peter thinks about it. “No.”
“Good. We’re gonna go to the nurse, okay?”
“Oh boy.”
Tony Stark walks into Peter’s school and finds the hallways empty. The classroom doors are shut and the muted sounds of teachers lecturing are the only signs that anyone is here at all.
He finds Peter in the infirmary, sitting on the examination table with the heels of his palms pressed against his eyes.
He’s at his side in an instant. “Kid?”
It’s surprise that gets Peter’s eyes open, but the little spider baby immediately regrets it. He flinches and sucks in a sharp breath. “Tony,” he whispers, like the name is all he can manage and the questions will have to wait for later.
Tony looks him over. There are no obvious injuries. The girl on the phone had said it was just a headache, but Tony is way more experienced with Peter’s brand of bullshit and knows there’s usually something else going on beneath the surface.
“I’m gonna go talk to the nurse and then get you out of here, okay?”
A nod.
It’s always a bad thing when he doesn’t argue. Peter Parker would start a fight about what kind of pizza to order, even if you suggest the kind he really wants, just to be a stubborn little shit about things.
Tony slips out of the exam room. The nurse looks up when he enters her office. “Oh my—Mr. Stark?!”
“Yes, hello,” Tony takes a cautious step forward as she stands. He doesn’t bother to sit. “I’m here to pick up the little gremlin in there.”
Her face flushes. “I didn’t know you’d been called, I—I figured I would just let him wait it out, you know? He didn’t want to be touched, so it was hard to figure out what was up and—so it’s real? About the internship?”
“Of course. Why would he lie?”
She opens her mouth. Closes it. “Well… you know how kids can be.”
“Do I?”
She doesn’t seem to know what to say to that.
Tony sighs. “Look, Nurse—uh, Timms—Nurse Timms, can I please just sign the kid out and take him home? He’s clearly in pain here.”
She starts rifling through her desk for a form. “I mean, I can admit you to take him home, but I really suggest you talk with the principal first—Peter was given a detention before he was brought to my ward, see, and I was—” she shakes her head. “I thought he might be faking.”
Tony stares without blinking for a whole five seconds and then, “Detention? For what?”
“I heard he bad-mouthed a teacher or something. But to be fair, Professor Scott isn’t exactly what I’d call patient.”
“Well, be that as it may,” Tony takes the form she hands him to sign, “my kid doesn’t fake. He has a condition, see. Gets uh… overloaded. Sounds, smells, it can be too much for him. Probably why he snapped.”
“That… that makes sense.”
“Yes,” he says succinctly, and hands the paper back. “You’d know that if you bothered to ask. Anyway, I’ll be going. Thanks for the help, Nurse Times.”
“Uh, it’s—it’s Timms—”
The door shuts behind him.
MJ was forced to go back to class. She’d argued and protested but Nurse Timms was insistent. So, MJ had relented. She’d pressed the lightest of kisses on his forehead and it surprisingly hadn’t felt that bad, and then she’d gone.
Tony Stark had shown up about twenty minutes later and it’s just when Peter’s starting to think it was all just a vivid hallucination that the smell of coffee and motor oil fills his senses again. It’s overwhelming but not debilitating.
“Kiddo,” Tony whispers, “is it okay to touch you?”
Peter cracks an eye. Everything is bright but Tony’s suit is mercifully black, so he focuses on that. “I don’t know. I don’t wanna move.”
“Well I gotta get you outta here somehow.”
“But my detention—”
“I already got you out of it,” Tony says breezily. “Nothing to worry about.”
“Tony,” Peter says, cheeks flushing. “You can’t just bribe my principal into—”
“I didn’t bribe anyone. I just explained the situation and besides, Morita’s an old friend.”
Peter closes his eyes again as he frowns. “You’re friends with my principal?”
“I’m a benefactor for your school, too,” Tony says. “But don’t tell anyone, it’s a secret.”
Something shifts in the air. Tony is sitting now. “Happy’s waiting outside,” he says, “but whenever you’re ready.”
Peter thinks about it for a few seconds and decides it’s gonna have to happen at some point, anyway. Might as well rip the band-aid off now. Slowly he takes a deep breath and manages to sit up with Tony’s help. The older man tries to avoid touching him as much as possible, but surprisingly enough the weight of his hand against Peter’s spine isn’t crushing or aggravating. It doesn’t hurt.
“Baby steps,” Tony says softly. “We’ll take you out the side door, okay?”
Even getting to the door is slow going but Tony doesn’t seem to mind. Right before they open it, Tony stops and pulls his sunglasses off. “Here, try these.”
Peter puts them on. He feels ridiculous because like, they work on Tony who was literally born in the seventies, but Peter really doesn’t dig the groovy shades. Regardless they’re better than nothing and even help a little.
The halls are empty again. Most of the students will be in the gym right about now, or the cafeteria for lunch. They don’t run into anybody on the way out and as soon as they’re in the back of the car, Peter sags against Tony’s side. He feels like he’s just run ten miles.
“Drive, Hogan,” Tony says, and then the partition glides up.
For a few seconds it’s almost completely quiet. Noise suppression tech, Peter realises, and he feels like he could cry from relief. For the first time in hours there’s just… nothing. No traffic, no dozens of students talking at once. The air conditioning unit is filtered, so he’s not being attacked with the smell of body odour and clashing perfume scents and Axe cologne. There’s just Tony and beautiful, amazing, showstopping silence.
Tony shifts a little. “Better?”
Peter nods, figuring it’s still probably not safe to speak.
“We’ll be there soon,” Tony says softly.
Peter doesn’t remember much after the car ride. He can vaguely recall protesting getting out of the Audi, and he remembers Tony assuring him that everything would be okay, and the next thing he knows he’s lying on his back in an utterly dark bedroom. The walls are insulated just like the car had been, so there’s just no sound, and the bed sheets probably have the highest thread count of all time.
Something shifts beside Peter and he realises Tony is there, feeling his forehead.
“What—?”
“Oh, hey,” Tony greets. “I think you might’ve blacked out there. All the noise hit you at once when we got out of the car and you just…”
“I fainted?”
Tony snorts softly. “Relax. It happens to the best of us. How do you feel, Webster?”
Peter hums. “Bad.”
“Let’s try a scale of one to ten.”
“Okay,” Peter says. “Ten.” Tony lets out a little grunt at that and so Peter elaborates, “It was at like, a twenty this morning, so.”
“Ah, I see.” Tony’s grip shifts to Peter’s wrist to measure his pulse. “This okay?”
“It’s fine.”
And it really is. He doesn’t feel like burning his skin off or anything. Tony’s hands are just warm.
“Any idea what brought this on?”
Peter shifts a little. “I uh… haven’t been sleeping a lot lately.” He swallows. “Like, at all.”
“And how long’s that been going on for?”
“I don’t know. On and off for a few weeks, I guess.”
“Jesus,” Tony sighs and pulls his hand away. He rakes it through his hair. “Kiddo, what have we said about communication? Does May know?”
“....No?”
There’s a long pause where Tony just kind of sits there thinking, like he wants to say whatever comes next carefully. He massages his temples and then: “Alright, scooch over.”
“What?”
“Make room for me.”
Peter blinks and then, tentatively, scoots over a little to allow Tony room to lie down. The older man does, arching his back a little and grunting in pain because he’s like, ancient. They’re not touching, but very slowly Peter starts inching closer again. Eventually he works up the courage to try resting his head on Tony’s chest, which is terrifying not only because it’s Tony Stark, but also because he’d rather not have his brain implode.
Nothing happens. “Your fabric softener must be like, super expensive,” he whispers, because this is actually better than the sheets.
Tony snorts. “I’ll ask Pep about it.”
Peter makes a noncommittal noise and before he knows it, his eyes are closing. For once they actually feel heavy, and the steady rhythm of Tony’s heart beat is soothing, dependable.
Tony’s hands brush lightly over Peter’s hair and then thread through it. “Too much?”
“No,” Peter promises. “Good.”
And so Tony’s fingers run through his curls over and over, gently, lightly. His thumb sweeps over Peter’s cheek once, too, and then he starts muttering in Italian.
Peter cracks an eye. “Are you telling me your grocery shopping list?”
Tony laughs a little. “My mom used to do it for me,” he says. “Something about just hearing her speak the language made me feel… relaxed, I guess. Didn’t matter what she was saying.”
Peter smiles and wraps an arm around Tony’s torso. “Tell me something else.”
“You wanna hear about the time I almost blew up a Chem lab?”
“Uh, duh.”
So Tony launches into it, speaking in a low voice and absently twisting one of Peter’s curls around his finger. It feels nice and the headache is fading fast.
Peter sleeps.

can u do one of amelia having really bad backaches in the end of her pregnancy because she’s really big and everyone tries to make her stop working but she doesn’t wanna stop
Third Trimester
A/N: Thank you for the prompt! I’m sorry this isn't great... Hope you still enjoy!
"Jesus, Amelia!" Meredith's eyes widen as she spots her sister walking around the corner and towards the OR board where she was standing, "What?"
"What? I don't see you for a couple days and you suddenly-" Meredith gestures towards her sister's huge bump as it tested the boundaries of Amelia's scrub top.
"Don't remind me." Amelia places a hand on her back, stretching with a groan, "I didn't think it was possible to get any bigger but apparently I was wrong."
"How many weeks are you now?" Maggie, who had been sitting behind the nurses station, asks as she stands up and places her tablet on the charger.
"38." Amelia replies, picking up the eraser and wiping the surgery she'd just completed off the board, "My spine feels like it's being crushed from the inside."
"That would be because you're massive." Meredith laughs, receiving a glare from an irritated Amelia.
"Glad you're having fun with my misery." Amelia states, leaning against the OR board and holding a hand on the underside of her bump in an attempt to alleviate some of the back pain, "It's really painful actually, my back feels like it's on fire 24/7 these days."
"Amelia, why are you still here?" Maggie questions, "Yeah, shouldn't you be on maternity already?"
"Why?" Amelia winces as she feels the baby kick her ribs.
"Maybe because you look like you're going to pop any second?" Meredith laughs at her sister's stubbornness, "Yeah, don't you think it's time you slow down?"
"Ugh not you guys too. I already have Link on my back about reducing my workload and taking it easy. I don't need it from you two as well." Amelia rolls her eyes, rubbing her palm in circles around her swollen belly.
"He's just worried about you. He doesn't want you to push yourself." Maggie pouts at her sister, watching as she steadied herself on her feet and places her hand on her back again, "I knew he would put you guys up to this!"
"Now; if you'll excuse me, I have a surgery." Amelia smirks, beginning to walk away from her sisters.
"Amelia, you're waddling!" Meredith calls after her, chuckling to herself, enjoying being able to wind her sister up so easily.
"Shut up!".
--------------------------------------
"I hate you so much right now." Amelia announces as she walks into her boyfriends office, closing the door behind her.
"Um. Good morning to you too?" Link laughs, closing the lid of his computer and turning his attention to his heavily pregnant girlfriend who was now slowly lowering herself onto his couch.
"This really is not funny." Amelia groans, leaning back into the couch cushions and resting her hands on the top of her bump, "I'm miserable here."
"I am very sorry." Link pouts sarcastically at her from across the room causing Amelia to roll her eyes, "You better be.".
Link gets up from his office chair and makes his way over to the couch, sitting down next to Amelia and throwing an arm around her shoulders. His other hand rests on the bottom of her bump, where the skin was being exposed by the riding up of her scrub top. Link kisses her cheek softly before looking at her with sympathetic eyes,
"What's wrong?" he asks, pouting for real this time, "I'm huge."
"I mean, you are about to give birth. Like, any day now. You have a fully developed baby inside you, you're gonna be big."
"I'm huge and my back is killing me and my feet hurt and my ankles are swollen. Mostly, it's the constant backache because your baby is so heavy." Amelia leans her head back against the couch, relaxing against Link's touch.
"Amelia, I really think-"
"Don't say 'I think you need to stop working'" Amelia imitates, annoyance evident "I've heard that enough today."
"I wasn't going to say that." Amelia rolls her head to the side, raising her eyebrows, "I wasn't!"
Link leans in closer to her, rubbing his hand softly across the underside of her bump, feeling their son kick back, "I know you don't want to stop working and that's okay but I think you should at least cut down your hours, slow down a little. Amelia, you're 38 weeks pregnant. You're going to give birth soon and you're going to need energy for that. Right now, you have none, you're exhausted. You deserve a break, you work so hard and I know you love your job but I need you to put yourself first, just this once."
Amelia groans, and leans her head on his shoulder, "Fine. But, I'm not stopping until this baby literally comes out of me. I'll cut down my hours a little but I still want to cut."
Link laughs, smiling at his stubborn girlfriend, "M'kay, I guess I'll take that. Thank you."
"Now, can you rub my feet?" Amelia smirks, kicking her shoes off and groaning as she lifts her legs over his lap, "It's the least you could do."
Link smirks back, winking as he starts rubbing circles into the soles of her feet, "If this is punishment for knocking you up, I won't do it again."
Amelia rolls her eyes, "We'll see about that.".

Love potion AU
Part 1
Peter Parker x Reader
Words: 2k
Summary: Peter Parker, infatuated with an uninterested MJ, creates a liquid potion to have her fall in love with him, but what if the wrong person drinks it???
Warnings: lowkey angst, Peter is a desperate fool, Ned is a supportive friend and MJ is an absolute queen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hey Pete-” You blush, books clutched between your arms.
“Hey.” You notice Peter glancing behind you constantly, barely acknowledging your greeting. A forced thin tight smile replaces your shy smile, but soon recovers when you see Ned beside you, you give him a grin, readjusting your backpack strap,
“Hey Ned, new hat?” You chuckle lightly at the boy with a red fedora sitting on top of his hair.
“Why Hello, m’Lady, and yes- I do have a new hat in the collection.” He beamed, you laugh at his response,
“Well it looks great on you-”
“Hey, have you guys seen MJ? I haven’t seen her enter the school yet-” Peter interrupted your conversation with Ned, His eyes scanning the hallways and the entrance doors.
“Peter, give it a rest- MJ made it quite obvious that she’s not interested in a relationship right now-” Ned seemed tired of constantly lecturing his friend about his crush on the girl, but that didn’t seem to stop him from ogling her from afar.
“Yeah- I know Ned, but maybe I can convince her to-” Ned was quick to shut that down,
“Absolutely not- Peter, do you realize how insane that sounds?!” It sounded like Ned was about to patronize the boy some more before you decided you heard enough and walk away, sad and in a way- feeling a bit rejected. Although you did nothing that would cause you to become rejected, you felt like Peter rejected your presence in general. It’s not anything new, it’s not like it’s the first time either. You fell for Peter when you first met him, the boy was an absolute sweetheart, you had no idea why every girl wasn’t head over heels like you were. The kindest and most genuine smile you’ve ever seen resting upon his face with adoring puppy brown eyes. With a heavy heart you went to your first period class 10 minutes early.
Ned finished his lesson with his friend, Peter grumbling under his breath- Ned spun around in your direction just to find that you weren't there, even glancing around hoping you haven’t left… again. Again and again, every day- you always left early and Ned noticed, he also noticed when Peter didn’t. Dejected, Ned sighs loudly before glaring at his best friend,
“Well, are you happy?” He huffs
Peter cocks his head to the side, brows furrow, clearly puzzled, “About…?”
Ned was getting frustrated, “Oh, you know- the fact that you’ve technically been a horrible friend and blatantly ignored Y/n’s existence.”
“Y/n was here?” Ned reached over and slapped the back of Peter’s head.
“Ow! What the hell Ned!” Peter rubbed the back of his head realising a groan.
“You deserve that, and more-” Ned then turned on his heels and walked to his first period as soon as the bell rang, a slightly disoriented Peter ran after him, his curls bouncing along with his small jog,
“What? Why? Ned!... Wait- god, Ned! What does that mean?!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*y/n*
“God, I don’t even know what to do anymore! It’s like- It’s like I don’t even exist! Not even as friends! He couldn’t even look me in the eyes! I’m not that ugly… am I? Maybe-” You lay on your bed with your legs up against the wall while a bit of your head peeks off the side.
“Alright let me stop you right there.” Michelle interjected, looking up from her book and placing her book mark before shutting it closed, “You are not ugly- don’t ever second guess that, plus the fact that you question your value because of some boy is just plain stupid, I mean like, women have been subjected to a society where our beauty and our worth is determined by men, and that’s honestly disgusting, like who the hell do they think they are-”
“MJ~” you grumble, plopping a pillow on your face.
“Right right, my bad- point is, you’re a bad bitch- and no boy should make you feel like you’re less, I mean this is Peter we’re talking about right?” MJ reaches and nudges the pillow away from your grasp, hitting the ground with a soft thud, you nod in agreement,
“That’s the thing MJ, like I understand I’m not supposed to let a boy make me feel less but when I look at him, it’s like the whole room lights up,” your hands flailing above you, occasionally tangling your fingers through your h/c hair, “and he has the most beaming smile and it just melts my heart, and I just can't keep that ‘I don’t give a fuck what you say’ attitude with him.” A smile creeps on your face a tthe thought of the adorable boy with the brown locks and puppy dog eyes, “I just wanna tell him that he’s the sweetest and he makes my knees go weak and my heart swoons and wants to jump out of my chest at the sight of his beautiful fucking face.” you finish with a sigh, as if you’d been holding that in all day, and you kind of were.
“First of all, give me a second to hold back the urge to projectile vomit all over your room-”
You let out a chuckle as you cover your face with your hands, your ears burning in embarrassment, “MJ, stoooop” Your hand’s muffling your words
“No seriously, that was the cheesiest thing I've ever heard in my life- did you rehearse that?” She laughs. You don’t reply to her question.
“Y/n, tell me you don’t rehearse that in the mirror-” She gasps with a smile
“I mean sometimes-” Before you can finish, Michelle is bursting with laughter, your laugh shortly joins along.
You adored these moments with your best friend, and you appreciated how forward and comfortable she got with you after a bit in your friendship, you guys were such great friends, anyone could see it. Not a lot of people saw this side of Michelle, the funny, goofy, and loving person you know now. You could understand why Peter fell in love with her, I mean not only does she have a great personality, but she is absolutely stunning as well without even trying, wearing no makeup and a simple jogger and t-shirt and she could be on the cover of Vogue.
Michelle’s laughter died down, wiping her tears that were at the edge of her eyes, coughing a bit from the force her lungs gave out, “god, who is this girl Peter is so ‘In Love’ with, as you put it, anyways?”
Your laughter died down, clearing your throat a bit, you sat up, your legs crossed beneath you, “um, well- it’s kinda hard to explain-” your eyes drop to your fingers that tug on your cuticles, a habit you had if you were nervous or anxious, Michelle notices, “Stop picking at your fingers, you know that they’ll bleed,” you jerk your fingers away and instead start playing with the loose strings from your socks, “and what's complicated about Peters crush?”  her eyes squint as if she’s trying to get into your head.
“Well, i-it’s not that it’s complicated- it’s just, i dunno… I- “ your eyes are on your shirt, your teeth nibbling on your lower lip.
“Y/n, would you quit stalling and just tell me?” MJ stands up and sits on the bed, shifting to lay her head on your lap, you softly chuckle at her antics and lightly slap her forehead, “God bless that forehead” you giggle as Michelle groans.
“So?” her finger reaches up and boops your nose. Dejected you sigh.
Might as well tell the truth, lying will just get me into more shit anyways. Besides, MJ’s my best friend, she deserves the truth.
“Liz.” god, you felt like a dumbass.
“Liz?” MJ cringes
Alright, now’s your chance to come clean-
“Yup! I know right.” Your voice definitely went up a couple octaves, your palms instantly clamming up.
“Huh, I guess that makes sense-” She shrugs
“Y-yeah, I definitely think so too... “
Makes sense?? What is that supposed to mean??
“No you don’t, listen- don’t stress about it. Liz has nothing on you, “ MJ smirks up at you, sitting up and placing her hands on her shoulders making you face her, “ You are stunning y/n, like genuinely- I’m not saying this because you’re my best friend- because you know that i’m brutally honest 24/7, i’m saying this because it’s true.” Your ears burn pink and you cast your gaze to the side, “Hey, look at me- I mean it. You are so beautiful, no matter what- all those imperfections? All those flaws? They are beautiful and they are real. They prove that you aren’t a fake ass bitch who replaced everything with plastic surgery, it means that you have flaws and that you love your own flaws. Ok? And if Peter can’t see your beauty while accepting your imperfections, then he's absolutely not worth your time.” Hearing MJ talk so highly of you made your eyes brim with tears, MJ smiles in adoration.
You let out a choked up laugh “Thanks MJ” you sniffle
“Of course, y/n. And remember what I said about boys?”
“Boys aint shit” You burst into giggles
“That’s right queen, and don’t you forget it-” She stands up and holds your hands in hers, dragging you to your feet, “Now let’s go get pizza or something- I’m starving.” she begins pulling you towards the door, You laugh once again and follow her out.
*Peter*
“It’s honestly incredible how he just suddenly comes back to life, I mean what a plot twist-” Ned was ranting about the End of Skywalker, Peter couldn’t bring himself to care honestly so focused on finding a way to make the girl of his dreams fall for him. Was he looking it up? Yes. Every wikipedia article, witchy craft site, fuckboy sites, everything.
“Peter, are you even listening to me?” Ned sighs and puts on the spiderman mask.
“Sounds fantastic, ned.” a mumble leaves Peters lips as his fingers mindlessly tap at the keyboard for more results to his search.
“See, that response right there doesn’t make sense. I mean I asked a yes or no question and you replied with ‘fantastic’-”
“Woah. no way” Peter once again mindlessly interrupted his friend.
“Oh for the love of god, Peter! Give it a rest bro! This is deadass everyday, like all you talk about is having her fall for you! Besides all those sites won't help, to make MJ fall for you would take some magical miracle!” Ned burst, feeling lightheaded.
Finally Peter stops his rapid typing and spins to look at Ned, eye’s wide and his jaw to the floor, “Ned! You absolute genius!” Peter shoots up from his seat, grasping his coat and wallet as well as his house keys.
“I’m- what is going on-” Ned removes the mask, confusion written all over his face.
“Magic, Ned! Magic! I’ll be right back, dude- Bye!” and with that Peter left in search of a magical wizard.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“No absolutely not.” Dr. Strange muttered as he read his book, probably a spiritual thing.
“Oh come on, Mr. Strange-” Peter pleaded, nearly pouting.
“It’s Doctor Strange, and my answer is still no.” Dr. Strange stood up, his eyes glued to the book as he swirled his hands in a graceful motion to create a small table with more books and a glass of tea of which Dr. Strange takes a sip of before walking around some more. Peter right on his heels.
“Look, all I’m asking is to have a small enchanting spell of some kind, or even a potion-”
Finally Dr.Strange finally looks up from his book and turns towards the young spiderboy, “Peter, you do realize that you are asking me to enchant a human-”
“Of course I know-”
“No you don’t, you are tampering with the emotions of a human being. This could cause some real trauma to the one being enchanted. Are you aware of that?” Strange seemed to become frustrated with Peter’s persistence.
“Well… I am now-” Peter’s gaze fell at his feet, fidgeting with his fingers, a habit he had when he was nervous, “Listen- I understand if you don’t want to help me, but all I want is some time. Just.. I dunno, a week- to prove that I can be the perfect boyfriend for her. I just want time to show her, and when the time runs out, if she’s still not interested, then I won’t insist. Please.” Peter’s soft brown eyes gazed up at the wizard, his pout showing itself.
“Oh no… not the pout.” Dr.Strange groans, he rubs his eyes in frustration, inhaling deeply before muttering, “One week. No more than one week.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------

You. Are. A. Man!
Five Hargreevs x Trans!Male Reader
Tumblr media
Plot: The reader is a transgender male who is struggling with body dysphoria and tries to deal with being reminded that he was once a female. Five is there to support him and remind him that the reader is indeed a man.
Author’s Note: To be honest, it felt weird writing this. I’m a female and I don’t feel like I should be writing this. I feel like someone with these actual experiences should write this. This is also why I’m turning to my friend Axel, who is transgender and having him help me write this. I would love to write more stuff like this in the future, so please send in more requests! Also, if you’re struggling with body dysphoria, please feel free to talk to me about what’s going on. I love you guys and I wanna help ya’ll! I love you guys and remember that you’re all special in your own way! Also go check out my Wattpad!
Warnings: BODY DYSPHORIA! Basically, if you’re sensitive to any content regarding transphobia I guess.
Requested: Yes by @rainbow-depresso-expresso
Key: E/C = Eye color; B/T = Body type; S/C = Skin color
                                                         ⁂
     My chest ached at the feeling of my binder crushing the two lumps of fat that remained hanging on my body. Then again, it’s my fault for making it so tight, but I’ve been wearing it all day. I just wanted to look completely flat; is that too much to ask for? To be born with the correct body and to have people accept you for who you are? I just want to look how I was meant to be born; I wanted to be born a man. Is that too hard? Is it too hard to be accepted for who I want to be, who I was meant to be? I’m not harming anyone, yet only a handful of people in my life support me rather than everyone. These people are the only reason why I stay sane. They’re the only reason I haven’t given up my dream of having top surgery. Though, the topic of transitioning from female to male didn’t settle well with my parents.
   Here I am, standing in front of my body mirror with tears brimming my (E/C) eyes which were glaring at my (B/T) (S/C) body. I hate it. I hate my body. I hate every damn thing about it! I couldn’t even look at myself without feeling the dysphoria creeping up my back like it’s a damn spider. I can’t even look down without seeing the two lumps of fat on my chest and what lies between my legs, I can’t even tell my parents about what I’m feeling because I know what their views on transgender people, and they’re not positive.
     It hurts to know that you can’t become who you want to be; who you are meant to be. It fucking hurts to hear people call you something that you’re not and to be constantly reminded that you’re different, and when people think of different, they think, “Oh, that’s weird.” Weird eventually leads to people thinking the people or things that are weird as inferior to them. It’s beneath them. Do you know how much it hurts to hear your loved ones bash the people in your community just because they’re different and think that they’re weird? They say those things then turn right to you and tell you that they love you for who you are. No, they don’t, but then again, they don’t know I’m the very thing they despise.
     It’s scary to know they if they found out your secret, you’ll change right before their eyes into a hideous, mutated monster. They’ll kick you out, act like they don’t know you, humiliate you and force you to wear the clothes they want you to wear, and they’ll do whatever they can do to convince you it’s a phase and you aren’t who you think you are. I’m terrified of the day they remind me constantly of the things that make me what they want me to be.
     I’m so fucking insecure about how my shirt hugs my body, and how I can’t wear underwear without wanting to bawl my eyes out because they’re not boxers. Sure, I have other insecurities that everyone else has, such as how some people don’t like the size of their nose, the color of their eyes, or even the amount of fat they have on their bodies. I can’t change myself though without anyone really noticing what I’m trying to achieve. I had to convince my parents I was just going through a phase just so I could get my hair cut short enough to where it chopped off some of the dysphoria I carried around.
     You wanna know what hurts the most, though? Fearing that the love of your life is going to leave you for who you are. You fear that soon he’ll realize the mistake he’s made and walk right out the door. He’ll lose feelings and start to distance himself, whether he realizes it or not. He said he loved you, but he can’t just be with you. Maybe somewhere he still loves you, right? He loved you, did he though? If he really loved you, he would’ve stayed and worked shit out, but instead, he became disgusted with who he associated himself with.
     It first starts with him not wanting to kiss you in public. You think that he just hasn’t been comfortable with PDA lately and wants to limit it, so you brush it off. You don’t even point it out to him when you’re alone and continue to tolerate it. Soon enough it escalates into not wanting to hold your hand in public. It hurts, but you don’t bother him. It’s not until he stops doing these things even when you’re alone that it starts to bother you. It hurts, but you’re too scared to bring it up and accidentally start a fight. This isn’t the first time something like this happened to you, so you didn’t push him. You’ve learned from your mistakes, haven’t you? Your world comes crashing down and the nightmares you’ve been having for the past week finally come true. He doesn’t bother saying that he’s sorry, or that he wishes you two could just stay friends. No, he just walks right out the door without even looking back at you to see if you’re okay because he knows you’re not. He knows he broke your already cracked heart into dust, and he couldn’t give two shits.
     Why would he though? Why would he want a monster like you? An abomination, that’s what you are. He couldn’t stand the thought of associating himself with you. He couldn’t handle the stares the two of you received in public. At first, you both just assumed it was because you were both men, but now he realizes it’s more than that. It’s because you’re trying to change yourself into someone you’re not. He was ashamed to be seen with you; to love you. He had to leave, he needed to. It was for the sake of his reputation he had said. He couldn’t stand to be with you because of the fact of who you are; of what you are. It’s all because you’re transgender.
     As these thoughts ran through my head, my eyes grew increasingly more blurry due to salty tears blocking my vision. I felt both my bottom lip and knees tremble as my breathing grew more ragged, and it suddenly felt as if all air was cut off from my lung. My eyes screwed shut and my lips tightened shut, forcing myself to conceal my sobs. My legs gave out from underneath me, causing me to collapse to the carpeted ground of my bedroom floor and lower my head. I couldn’t look in that damned mirror anymore. A heart-wrenching wail forced itself from my body, and the sobs just came pouring out. My hands found themselves buried in my short (H/C) hair, tugging so hard at the strands that I thought I was going to rip them from my own scalp. Sob after sob, I continued to cry for what seemed like forever. Both my head and heart pounded in agony. My hands trembled and my chest heaved up and down at an increasingly fast pace as I tried to gasp for a single breath between my cries.
     Fear shot up my spine as my chest ached for a different reason. I couldn’t breathe. I tugged harder at my hair and clawed at the back of my neck, hoping more pain would force my body to fight for its life and help me regain my breath. It felt like a lump of some wort was lodged in my throat, causing my body to heave forward as if I were gagging. Not to mention my nose was clogged up with snot. My vision grew foggy and my face grew hot. Would this be how I die? A pathetic mess?
     I felt two arms quickly wrap around my waist and pull me into their chest. I could feel the rough texture of their jacket, but their shirt under the jacket felt smooth and soft. I could faintly hear their voice, shushing me and telling me something. They sounded calm, not panicked at all. Their touch was gentle as they brought my head to their chest, gently stroking my back with one hand and using the other to pull me close. It was still loose enough to where it didn’t feel as if I was suffocating.
     I saw the familiar umbrella tattoo on the person’s wrist and the logo I had seen so many times on the person’s jacket. Only one Umbrella Academy member still wore their jacket, mostly because they were stuck in a teenager’s body and those were the only clothes that fit him. Not to mention he was too stubborn to go out and by clothes for boys his age. Physically his age, that is. I never pushed Five too many times to buy the clothes I’d die to see him wear because I just wanted him comfortable and happy. Plus, who am I to hell him what he can and cannot wear?
     I was able to faintly smell the cologne he wore daily, calming me down just a tad. My throat finally ceased and allowed me to gasp for a small bit of air, but it didn’t stop me from hyperventilating. Five gently rocked me back and forth as best as he could, continuing to softly shush me and rub small circles on my back. I could finally make out what he was saying.
     “It’s gonna be okay,” he mumbled, humming a soft tune that always seemed to calm me down. “I’m gonna need you to do something for me, dear, can you do that?” I whimpered pathetically and managed to nod in affirmation. He nods and continues. “I want you to breathe with me, okay?” I nod once more, desperate to come down from my panic. He starts his breathing off at a moderately fast pace, almost matching with my own. I was able to match my breathing with his own as I gripped his dark blazer. His breathing gradually slowed down, and as did mine. This wasn’t the first time Five’s had to help me, so I knew what to expect.  Once my breathing was stable enough, he spoke again. “Do you need anything?” he softly asked, reaching over and grabbing a soft blanket that laid upon my bed.
     “You,” I managed to choke out. My eyes burned from the salty tears, and my head ached from crying. He nods and drapes the blanket around my body and tilts my head up so he can see my face. His eyes are glazed over with empathy and care. He gently strokes my cheek with his thumb and gently presses his lips against my forehead.
     “I’m not going anywhere my dear,” he assures me, tightening his embrace just a tad bit. “Do you want to talk about what happened?” I shake my head no at his question. “Do you want to talk about something good that happened today?” I’m silent at his question. Taking a deep breath, fluttering my eyes shut and trying to focus on speaking properly.
     “I-I was able to put to...together an outfit that-that made me feel really masculine today,” I start off, pausing as I felt my voice grow shaky as I spoke. I breathed slowly through my nose and continued. “It-It was a pair of khakis that stopped at my knees, and-and the polo Klaus had given me for my birthday.”
     “The light green one with the lemons on it?” I nod in affirmation. My heart swoons at the fact he remembers something as little as that.
     “Yeah, I-I was also able to finish the load of homework that the school gave us,” I added. He smiles softly and kisses the top of my head.
     “See, I told you you could get it done! I’m so proud of you,” he praises softly, keeping his voice low. He continues to ask me questions about my day, focusing on the positive aspects of it.
     With a clear and calm mindset, I know none of that would happen with Five. Sure, it’s happened in the past, but Five’s different - very different considering he can teleport and he’s mentally an old man. I know I can always rely on him when it comes to shit like this. He knows I can be a bit much during times like these, and he knows that I’ll end up looking pretty fucking gross. He doesn’t care though. He’s seen a lot of shit in his life, so a red face covered in tears and snot isn’t gonna bother him. He loves me, and he’s told me this an abundance amount of times.
     After helping me clean up, we both lay down on my bed with my back against his chest. He wraps one arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. His chin rest on the top of my head, humming the same soft melody he sang earlier. I felt my eyes droop as a wave of exhaustion came crashing over me. My eyes would fall shut and snap back open as I would realize I was slowly falling asleep, but falling asleep meant I wouldn’t be able to hear his voice anymore.
     “Get some sleep, my dear, I’ll be here when you wake,” he mumbled softly. That was the last thing I heard before falling asleep peacefully in his arms with a small smile on my face and a heart full of love.

[AO3] [WATTPAD]
NOTE: This chapter is even more NSFW than the previous, including actual sex. Reader discretion advised.
Stalemate. For ten full, agonising seconds, Rise and Ai were locked in place, staring into each other's eyes unblinking as their bodies remained flush with each other. Burning with an arousal neither was prepared to deal with.
"Morning," Rise finally managed to respond quietly.
"So… so this isn't- I wasn't trying… to… what is going on?"
"You rolled on top of me while you were asleep," she told her immediately — purely so she wouldn't spend any time worrying that she had done anything wrong. "And, um, your little friend decided to let me know she's already awake! S-so, um… so that's a thing I know now!"
"OhmyGOD," she blurted, starting to push upward against the futon beneath them. "Rise, I am so sorry, I can't believe-"
"Nnhhh!"
Well, that shut them both up. Knowing her cheeks were flaming pink, Rise turned to one side to stare off toward the door. At least Ai could only see half of her burning face this way.
"Rise?"
"I'm fine! It's all good, I… were you saying something before? About, like, being sorry… and getting up?"
"Wait." Ai shifted her hips again. This time, they both groaned, even though Rise's was higher-pitched. "W-wow, you're into this."
"I a-am not!" she squeaked.
"No, you are." But for once, Ai wasn't teasing her mercilessly about this. She just whispered, "I… could… keep going."
Rise glared up at her with a slight pout as she squirmed a little. "Don't- nnnhh -don't you dare! I… this situation isn't my fault, I was… I was trying to get out from under you!"
"Fine. Forget it then." Ai sighed and rolled onto her back. "You're free to go."
"Thanks." Rise sat up, taking a few breaths in relief. "I'm sorry, I just couldn't breathe, and… this is… I'd like to be married first, y'know?"
"Right. Because a couple of lesbians are about to get married. In this country? I doubt it."
A little "oh" fell from Rise's lips. That was a very good point; she had never heard of any same-sex couples having an official marriage under the law before. And sure, they could get married if Ai just went by what was on her birth certificate, but that presented its own downsides. "Well… that's just not fair."
"Yep. So unless you meant marrying somebody else besides me…"
"I didn't," she told her flatly, which surprised Ai into looking upward at her. "It's going to be you. I guess this just means we'll be… roomies forever? Or whatever that looks like."
Ai sighed and reached over to take up Rise's hand. "Listen to both of us, talking like this is going to last longer than the stories in the tabloids." But she was still rubbing that hand with her thumb tenderly. Words at odds with actions; that was a very Ebihara thing to do.
"They will if we try. So… I want to try, Ebi-chan. Really."
"Isn't that what we're doing n- WHOA! EXCUSE ME?!"
Rise's other hand came to a stop on that bulge beneath the sheet. "Um… yes?"
"Maybe you could ask before trying to perform the Tatsumaki with my secret joystick?!"
"The what?!"
Ai's look was so nonplussed. "How can you have never played Street Fighter? Where the fuck have you been for your entire- nevermind, nevermind — we are from a younger generation, not everybody's a retro gamer like me."
"Hey, just- just hold on before you get too sidetracked! I thought… didn't you want to…?"
"I don't know! But you could at least ask!"
"But it's all hard! I thought that meant you wanted it."
"Not necessarily," she sighed, though at least her anger was clearly abating. "I get why you would think that, and it did feel nice. I just don't know if I'm ready for all that yet."
Feeling thoroughly chagrined, Rise withdrew her hand entirely and whispered, "Wow, Ebi-chan, I'm really sorry. I just wanted to help, and to… to get closer to you, I never meant-"
"Tch." But Ai looked thoughtful, not irritated or hurt. "It's just… what if it's too soon? Or what if I like you doing that, and I get used to it, and then I don't want to go through with bottom surgery?"
"Well… so? If you like it and it feels good, what's the problem?"
"Tell that to Past Fatass Aihiko. Like, stuffing my face to the point of obesity felt good, too… in the moment. Then later I realized it wasn't the best thing for me. See also 'purging'."
Rise grimaced as she hugged her a little tighter, and she hugged back. "I get that. Not that I think this is the same thing, but maybe it is. I guess I can't know that one."
"Neither do I," she admitted quietly, accidentally grinding on her a little as they embraced. Rise tried to pretend she didn't notice. "Mmm… it is… pretty tempting."
"Do you do it for yourself? I heard guys normally do, and you used to be one…"
Ai squirmed, which only made it worse for both of them. "Well, um… I guess I have done it sometimes since I started transitioning. Not as often though; usually I just don't give a shit. But… it's been worse lately…"
"Really? In what way? Or I guess, why has it been worse?" Her girlfriend glanced up at her, then away. "Me? It's my fault?"
"No, not just you. Narukami before you happened, but… y-yeah. It's just really unpredictable; I don't get horny all the time but having people to be attracted to does make it a lot more likely."
"Mm. Makes sense, I guess." Rise tried to think of something encouraging to say, but she wasn't sure because the situation was so alien to her. Then she chanced a tiny smile. "Well, anytime it gets so out of hand you can't stand it… I'm here. Even though I don't know what I'm doing at all, I guess I could help you."
Ai smirked a little as she rolled her hips. "You just wanna hop on this dick. Little slut."
"H-hey!" she squeaked, even though it came out mostly as a gasp. That didn't help any argument against being a slut.
But she didn't have time to be angry for much longer. Ai's hips were still moving. It seemed that one provocative action, even though clearly intended to tease, had awakened something within her girlfriend that she was having trouble putting to bed. Their eyes met as they tried to suppress their desire — and they weren't doing very well. Too much tension had been building for too long.
"So… so you could keep going," Rise finally whispered — and even her whisper was shaky. "I heard what you said about… u-um, maybe not being ready? Which I totally get! Believe me! But I think I'm ready for this, e-even if this is all… you…"
Ai swallowed hard, finally looking truly distressed at their predicament. "It's weird… doing this… I mean, like… okay, you want me to be gross? It might even stop me from doing this if I gross both of us out."
"Go ahead," Rise giggled weakly.
"So… um…" Contrary to her words, she was still grinding on her with mounting purpose. "Like I said, I do jerk it sometimes. It's normal, everybody does it, but I… still feel weird about it, because of… my body. But more often than that, I'll wake up and I'm kinda… trying to do this to my bed. Like I'm having sex in a dream? Maybe? But I don't remember the dream most of the time — and a lot of the time in my dreams, I'm the one on the bottom, anyway…"
Everybody did it? Rise never had - not on purpose. A few times in the bath, or rubbing up against her teddy bear out of instinct. But that was beside the point. Licking her lips as she tried not to think about just how well Ai was hitting her in a place no one had stimulated before, she cleared her throat before saying, "On the bottom? Like… with anoth-" That was too close, but at least she tried to catch it. "With a boy?"
She could see the slight smirk of Ai recognising she tried. "Yeah. Like a boy pounding me in the pussy. Or the ass; sometimes my brain is nice and gives me what I really wish my body was like, sometimes it isn't nice. It… it usually depends on how I'm feeling that… mmhh, God I wish this didn't feel so good…"
But it did. Rise couldn't even pretend she wasn't getting off; she was on fire from nose to toes, the latter of which were clawing at the futon for purchase — trying to latch onto some kind of stability. This was too hot to be allowed.
"Is… is that…?"
"Huh?"
Ai visibly swallowed. "Are you wet?
"Wha- hey! You sh-shouldn't be asking things like that, it's so rude!"
"No, but I can feel it… through our…" She gulped and looked away. "Maybe we should stop. Like, I feel like I… I don't know, you didn't sign up for all this."
"You didn't, either, Ai-chan… I… I'm okay."
Ai drew back to look into her eyes again. "Really?"
Then they were kissing again. Both seemed to need it thanks to how fragile the discussion was making them feel. Partly because of how much they talked this out, partly because of their bodily movements below, but Rise knew she definitely was a lot less capable of pretending this was just 'friends hanging out really closely while they make it look good for the cameras' or whatever line she had fed herself in the past; this was love. It was sex. They were about to do what so many teenagers naturally do when they find themselves alone together. She almost found herself wishing that someone would come knocking at the door to interrupt them, give her an excuse to take a breather and decide if she was really ready, but…
But no. She was ready.
"Can…" Rise was having trouble due to breathing hard; they both were, considering their lips had been joined for a minute or so beforehand. "Can I see… again?"
Ai just blinked at her for a moment before she managed to hiss, "My dick? Why?!"
"I… I know you wish you didn't have one, but this is the first time I've really been this close. So…"
"God." She swallowed hard. "No, no, I get it. I don't even really mind because… it's you… so yeah, I guess that's completely fair to ask."
Rise backed off, and Ai sprawled back against the futon. That overlarge t-shirt was all rumpled and bunched up so that she could see the bulge in her panties directly, and she couldn't help swallowing as she noticed the glaringly obvious wet spot in the center. She didn't even want to check her own underwear now; it would just be horribly embarrassing. So instead, she tentatively started curling her fingers around the waistband.
"Whoa, just like that?" Ai burst out with a breathy little giggle. "I… don't get any flowers first?"
"No. But um, I'll buy you some later, if you want."
Not having expected that, Ai was so distracted that she only breathed, "Really? You would?" as her shaft was revealed to the air once again.
"Really, Ebi-chan. I… I wanna treat you right." She kept pulling, scooting backward as she dragged the garment past trim thighs and slightly-rising knees. "Like you keep trying to show me you're a girl, and I… I might be a girl, too, but I have to do some of the boyfriend things if we're gonna be a real couple. So flowers, right?"
"Well… yeah." The dazzling smile was so rare on Ai's face that she barely was aware of pulling the fabric down past her pedicured toes. "Thanks, Kujikawa. I can't believe Risette is legit sitting there, telling me she's gonna treat me like a girl deserves, it's… it's crazy."
"Yeah, for sure. I mean, the Risette?!" They both laughed as she crawled back up. And then…
There it was, right in front of her for the second time. She had been too weirded out by the whole experience then to form much of an opinion, but now… now she was starting to think it might even be cute. Weird as that was. She had always been intimidated by the idea of these things on men if she were truly honest with herself. Probably because of the stories of how some of them used those; rabid fans, subway perverts, stalkers and back-alley lurkers who would prey on innocent women. But Ai wasn't any of those things; she was a woman who didn't even want to own hers, much less had anything to prove.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer," Ai grumped.
"Don't tempt me." She glanced up and saw the priss queen's face was full of mixed feelings about that, so she cleared her throat and looked back down at the tapering shaft. "You're sure… you don't mind if I play with it? I can stop if you need me to."
"Okay. Like, uh… I don't need you to now but I'll let you know."
"Cool." So she kissed the shaft. It was warm and soft, as the memory lingering in her fingertip could attest; she actually thought it felt silky smooth, perfect. Like most of Ai Ebihara. The scent of arousal she had caught a hint of before was starting to fill her anew, and she breathed in deeply as she kissed again and again, changing spots on the underside. She moved lower…
"Wh-where are you going?"
Rise's head came up quickly. "I- I'm sorry, did I mess up?"
"No, no, like… I just thought you might have been… nevermind, it's dumb."
"No way! Whatever you're feeling isn't dumb, I… I was going for these." Her lips pressed gently into the sack below the main attraction, glancing up past it curiously. "Do you not want this played with?"
"Oooh… I don't really… go ahead. Like I said, I'll stop you if I panic and need to quit."
At least she had the green light, however tentative. Somehow, the loose skin covering those little spheres was even softer; she smiled a little when she felt some tiny hair tickle her lips. Considering the varying shapes and contours, she wasn't surprised Ai had missed a hair when taking care of her personal grooming.
"Ugh, shit!" Ai burst out, covering her face with her hand. "That's horrible — I already hate having a- and now there's a hair, and you're probably really grossed out."
"I like it," Rise giggled as she kissed her again. The shaft twitched a little above her. "Oooh… did you do that?"
"N-no… I just… your breath on me, and your kisses, it's like… makes it really ready to go."
Swallowing hard, she tried to ignore the amplified feelings that was shooting down into her own tingling sex. Ai was ready to go and she was pretty sure her own body was not far off. "Um, good, that's good. And I don't mind this little pube; she's my favourite. I'm calling her… Inmo-ko-chan."
Ai couldn't stifle a little "Pffft" as her cock wobbed a little from body movements. Rise tried not to pass out then and there. "You would say Pube Girl gets a cutesy nickname."
"I would if it's cute enough!" Then she kissed it again… before sliding her tongue over the two spheres in their protective enclosure.
That finally changed the game subtly. Neither of them seemed to be able to keep bantering once she had licked Ai down there; she couldn't quite keep doing it right away, but neither was it easy to recover. So she went back to kissing, her lips parted so she left more and more wet marks on that soft flesh. Gradually, she worked her way up the twitching shaft — and tasted a slightly salty tang when she got to the wrinkled skin just beneath the tip. Did she like that?
Yes. So much, in fact, that she immediately tried to press her tongue to the same area.
"Hmmhhh," Ai sighed as she weathered the treatment, muffling the noise with her hand. Rise kept going, sliding her tongue all the way around the head… drawing it between her lips tentatively. She had heard of this so she knew exactly what she was doing — in name, anyway. Ebihara was one of two humans in the world she would have done this for. Really, she didn't even feel like a slut as most men would have made her feel; she just felt like a girl trying to please her lover.
Lover. Wow, that was where they had wound up without ever meaning to do so. As the warm head of the shaft began to find its way deeper and deeper into her mouth, touching the back of her throat, a couple of tears leaked out when it hit her fully that she and Ai had gotten past every obstacle that seemed to crop up along the way: they were together-together, and that wasn't going to change. It was only going to get better as long as they worked at this, remained open to the possibilities.
"Y-you don't have to," Ai suddenly breathed. "I-if it's that hard… I'm sorry…"
Rise didn't even bother to pull off long enough to answer. She knew it was the crying; they would get past it. Now she was beginning to bob up and down on that slender cock, delighting in how the heated skin dragged past her lips and tongue, at the pungent, oddly-satisfying taste. Yes, she could definitely get used to this.
And clearly, Ai wasn't in disagreement. She had been able to mostly just twitch and suppress her reactions until she started moving; now that she was really going down on her, she was panting and letting out quiet squeaks, trying to keep from overreacting. Rise felt like she got about halfway down the shaft before her gag reflex tried to take over, so that was about as deep as she was going to get — not that it bothered Ai. Harder and harder, she slid up and down as she felt it pulsing more often, listening to those delightful moans she earned in return. This was definitely the hottest thing she had ever experienced — and she had been in close proximity to K-Pop and Visual Kei guys.
Ai had them all beat. Easy.
The last thing she wanted to think about was how wet she probably was. Even just shifting her legs the tiniest bit, she could tell it was getting bad. But she tried to remain focused on the task at hand. Experimentally, she tried humming while she was bobbing her head up and down on the-
"NNH! FUCK, RISE!"
Paydirt. Instant reaction, and one Ai had seemed not to want to slip out. Instead of backing down or stopping to ask if everything was alright, she started ramping up her actions. Just because she had thought they might do another something this magical morning didn't mean they had to; she wanted to hear Ai finish now. She wanted to be the one that made her feel that good.
A wish that was granted after only a few more seconds. The sensation of cream spurting into her throat was so unexpected that she felt herself gag a little, her head came to a stop — but now Ai was moving. It seemed she had at least grown that comfortable with what they were doing, so she managed to keep herself from coughing for a moment or two. Probably something to do with all her vocal training over the years. However, eventually she hit the point where she couldn't hold still anymore, and…
"Oh… oh no, wha- Rise, are you okay?!"
Rise nodded as she coughed up the climax into her open palm, shivering a little while supporting herself on her other arm. Then she took a few shaky breaths before gagging out, "F-fine!"
"You don't look fine! Shit, I killed you- this is it, I'm the horrible bitch who killed Risette with my stupid little dick, and now I'm gonna have to throw myself off a bridge! Great, fucking great!"
But by the end of that, they were both laughing a little — even if Rise's were half-coughs. She swallowed hard and managed, "Just… get me a tissue!"
Ai was back with a purse-sized pack in no time at all. They cleaned off her hand and dabbed at her mouth, then Rise started using another on Ai's softening length. She shivered and she paused in her motions.
"Is… this okay?"
"Um… I don't really know. It's weird. It almost feels nice, but I also feel like I should smack you away…" Her face was more apologetic than usual as she finally sighed and said, "What a fucking spaz I am. You sure your throat is okay? You didn't have to swallow it!"
"Y-yeah, well, um… I didn't know what else to do if I didn't," she admitted with a shy laugh. Ai shook her head and smiled a little more before pulling her into a tight hug. "Oh! Awww, what's up?"
"Nothing. I just… never had that. Anything like that, so now I'm all emo." She drew back after a second or two to peck at her lips and whisper, "That was amazing. I almost thought you must have done it before, man, you just drove me crazy but you told me you haven't, so…"
Rise shivered a little as she asked, "You, um… you don't care about kissing me? After I was…"
A slight pause. "Oh, on my dick? Dude, I'm still bi; I wouldn't say my own dick is something I wanted to taste but it's not like I'm all that averse."
"Really? You sure?"
"I promise, girl." Then she kissed her deep, as if purely to prove something to both of them.
And she did. Not just that she didn't mind her own aftertaste, but that this was far from over now that Ai got her rocks off. In fact, Rise felt like they had finally moved past the trial period for this relationship and into something real. And she was ready for way more, as soon as was humanly possible.

Michael Myers x Reader || Oneshot
Tumblr media
Title: I’m Weak
Notes:
Could be considered the second, much later part to the smut oneshot I wrote but only if you want it to be.
Based off this quote, which has bene used in the Oneshot: ‘You’re scared of the way I make you feel because you don’t want to feel anything.’ by Maya Banks.
I dunno where all this inspiration for Michael is coming from.
I love how acclimatised to all of Michaels insanity reader is
Plot:
Dating, or whatever the relationship can be classified as, the infamous Shape reaches its horrendous peak. You’re frustrated and if he doesn’t help you out here, then not even the truest, biggest love in the world can stop you from leaving- because if he isn’t really there, it isn’t worth it.
Warnings: Slightly Yandere themes, I guess? I mean, if this were a Hetalia Oneshot I would say severely yandere themes but this is already a horror character so. Yandere, I GUESS??
~~~
“You’re scared of the way I make you feel because you don’t wanna feel anything.” I say, not like it’s a revelation or because it needs to be said. But because it makes me feel better. Because I’m spiteful, because I’m allowed to be. Because it makes Michael breath- you can see his chest rise and fall as soon as it sinks in, and it is a glorious feeling to know that I’ve made his unfaltering, never ending emotionless composure stutter. “And I don’t understand it, but I know that engulfs you.” I take in a breath, stepping back. Every word that gets past my teeth and bashes off my lips is steely and cold, wholehearted. “And I know you’re failing.”
He doesn’t move apart from the breathing, but he will. He’s feeling more then he has since- probably since he was a kid. And I’m feeling more then I want, then I ever thought possible because by some twisted miracle I love him and I’m gearing up to leave him. And he’s aware.
“Well guess what, you can’t go through life that way, Michael, you’re human. You have to feel, it’s like breathing. And sometimes you have to feel your guts get ripped out but that means you care, and that can feel really, really great.” Its worth every tear. “Now, I care about you like that. But all I get from you is the pain and that’s just not good enough, I’m sorry.”
And I am sorry. Not for him, but for me. Because I know if he lets me go and I get out like I want to right now it is going to h u r t. But I’m not going to kid myself into thinking that it’s the end all be all of my life. He’s just a man, and he won’t kill me.
Michaels fists clench tighter and moves from the doorway -he was about to go out for the night, - back into the room. But only momentarily.
As if he didn’t even need to think about it, like I didn’t mean a thing to him, he reaches forward and yanks and drags his black t-shirt off of me, leaving me in the long sleeve I was wearing underneath. “Michael!” I gasp, as the collar scrapes up my face and the warmth and his smell disappears from me. My present and my memory.
And then, with that nasty little act, before I can even really focus on him again, the door slams closed and it feels like it shook the floor and the walls around me, and he’s gone. For a moment, I dumbly look at the door. I’m shocked- I mean, I knew it was coming. I initiated it. But there’s a big difference between waiting and experiencing and it is awful. I can’t believe it’s over. Michael’s gone. The behemoth that eats all my food, squishes my fingers until I let go of the TV remote, and keeps me tight against his chest at night is… gone. And all that, with it.
All of a sudden, surprising tears blur my vision and sobs clench at my chest and I feel… so, alone.
___TIME SKIP___
A week later, it still hurts that he’s gone and I desperately want him back. On the way to work and on the way back, the highlight of my day is driving by the places I know he would hide out, to look for any sight of him as I slowdown and drive by, and I can’t sit and watch TV, or… or, sit and anything because that leads to thinking about him because, evidently, my brain can think of nothing better then the most painful thing for me at the moment. But I’m not crying about it. I have a life, I bake. I work. I walk. I bought expensive ear plugs so I can blast nightcore in my ears as a distraction so loud that my brain goes white and blank. And, there’s always this dull, terrible aching deep in my chest full of dread because, ha! My heart just can’t get a grip and understand that he’s gone.
I’m just crocheting a scarf or… maybe a funny shaped blanket, with my loud ass music on-its some YouTube playlist of those frighteningly painful and addictive nightcore songs. The one I’m listening to now is a Carrie Underwood redo. ‘Choctow County Affair’, - and occasionally glancing up at the TV to see the news headlines when my fingers suddenly go spectacularly numb at a certain picture.
No, its not of Michael. But Loomis. That bastards on the telly, probably griping about how he shot Michael however many time’s and Michael isn’t human, but I have to wonder why he is on TV. They only bring him out when Michael’s been caught again and it causes me lose the breath in my throat for a second and hurt my ears as I rip out the earplugs. My ears ring as I try to listen in to what Dr Loomis is saying, as the headline at the bottom says ‘Deadly Scrape with the Shape’- news anchors think they’re so clever. Fucking hell, poor taste.
The newsman, Clive Weatherman-yeah, this guy gets made fun of a lot. Went into the wrong area of news,- waffles on with the same question and my head hurts. “What was he wearing, Dr Loomis? We heard he wore the same Captain Kirk mask he has the last consecutive times he’s broken free of the hospital- is this true? Does this say anything about his mental state? Its pretty freaky, to me. The viewers want to know.” Oh my god, shut up! I need to hear Loomis’ information, that’s trustworthy at least.
“Yes, he was wearing that terrifying mask, concealing his soulless eyes from me. He should still be wearing it, so if anyone watching sees a man in a mechanics uniform and a bleached Captain Kirk mask you should immediately alert the authorities.”
A relieved breath escapes me at Loomis’ warning. Michael hasn’t been caught, he’s still out there. I don’t know why that relieves me, he’s a menace to society and is better off in an asylum- I just know he’s free.
And… while he’s free… he can find m-
“I shot him twice, also. So, the man you’re looking out for will be bleeding quite badly.”
“Oh, fuck.” I exclaim, pushing off the couch immediately and zipping up my jacket, barely stopping to put shoes on before I’m at my front door ready to search for him- but a heavy thump at the door before I can even touches it stops me immediately in my tracks. Damaging, floor shaking bangs vibrate against the door harshly, and I open it. Michael nearly falls through it because of the loss of solid wall to keep up his weight, but stands up tall again, heavily.
My eyes go wide as a look on. He certainly is bleeding a lot, both his hands covering the wounds just above his rib cage and holding tight, shoulders rising and falling at a steady, much faster rate then usual. But, still solid and tall. Somehow.
But that’s not surprising.
Swallowing my fear and a good portion of air at the same time, I take him by the wrist and drag him the rest of the way in which is heartbreakingly easy to do due to how weak the blood loss has made him and close and lock the door behind him. Then I get to work stitching up the wound the best I can.
When you’ve known Michael for… I dunno… even just a couple weeks? One week? You learn the basics of surgery quick, so this is routine. Once its over, and my hands are idle again is when things get hard.
I’m pissed that he came here, after leaving like that. Because it was me, too. I wanted to him to piss off, and he wanted to piss off. We made a decision and he can’t come back and take it back whenever it fits for him!
And, I’m… also, glad he’s here. I don’t know how I’ll let him leave again when he has to. I sure won’t be letting him in ever again, after this.
At least that’s what I tell myself. I truly do not know if I’ll ever get better from him.
It mustn’t be more then an hour later when he truly shatters my soul and my heart. God, how did I ever think this would be easy? Not just breaking up with him, but loving him. Not because he’s a killer, either. Or unstoppable force. Just, plainly because he’s Michael, and my hearts done the worst thing ever in loving him.
He’s all stitched up and I’m getting ready to leave the room, go to bed. Pretend I’m pretending he isn’t here on my couch. This is when he gently, so gently, so heartbreakingly gentle compared to his… everything. Like this, this gentle, he takes my hand in his. Not even my whole hand, actually. Just his fingers, wrapped around my fingers, and as the moment goes on his thumb starts to rib circles into my palm. I try not to melt.
“Michael… what, the hell are you doing here.” I ask, and try to be firmer then his hand around mine. His grip twitches.
I watch, curiously and unsure of what to do, as he shifts on the couch and digs with the hand that isn’t holding mine into one of his pockets, and brings out a folded sheet of paper. He hands it to me, and as we hold hand’s he watches me assess it.
On one side it’s a Chinese restaurants menu, written in clichéd curly red script and clearly he found this in the garbage somewhere or in a gutter because its dried all bubbly like it was wet and there’s a yellow colour formed on the top half. But on the other side is familiar handwriting that I could recognise anywhere.
‘Y/N’, it says. And he’s written my name the biggest out of all the other stuff and twice as bold. Like he wrote it over a couple times. The rest is in messy scribble like he couldn’t get it down fast enough. ‘I didn’t know I could miss someone, but I do. I hate it. Not only do I miss someone, but I also wish to take something back that I did. I wish I hadn’t left you alone.
I’m going to let Dr Loomis shoot me, and then you’ll know I won’t do it again. And neither will you.’
Well… It could be worse, I guess. Slowly, darkly, I turn to Michael. “Michael… “Holding the note up, my hand steady from many months of Michael and his ways. “You can’t do this.”
He pulls his mask off and looks me in that vague, insane way. No emotion.
Coming back to him, because I’m weak, I lower the note and furrow my eyebrows. “You can’t get yourself hurt to prove a point.” Kneeling down by the couch and running a hand through his hair, I sigh. “I’ll worry.” I whisper.
Not even a quiet moment passes, of me petting his hair, before its not enough for Michael and he lifts me up onto the couch with him, our chests and everything else tight together as one of his arms hooks under and around my middle. Like it used to be, like I needed it to be. I’m weak.
Letting go of any last remining reservations, because even if I did want to leave or kick him out which I most certainly don’t he would never let me, I lean my face up to nuzzle in his neck. He shudders out a sighs, and tries to bring me impossibly closer. Its so warm and I missed this and I’m weak.
Finally, I’m weak, and this will be the rest of my life I think.
Love of my Life
Hey guys!! This is the third chapter of my series. Ypu can read it on wattpad too! Enjoy 💞😉
Pheromones
Amelia's PoV:
I have to give Link some credit. He really knows what he's doing in the bedroom. I can safely say that he's the best I've ever had. But he can't know that. Male ego, you know. As far as I've come to know him, he'll start floating ;) Even Owen wasn't ever able to bring about that kind of a reaction from me even after the many years we were together which Link was able to do in just a SINGLE NIGHT !!
I have to say I'm quite surprised.
The amazing sex helped my mood quite a lot. All of the sadness and despair just vanished in thin air with his touch. So far I've been able to successfully avoid him. It's been two days since the conference in San Diego and still I just cannot take him off my mind. I've just seen him around the hospital once or twice. I actively run away whenever I see him. I just dash in the opposite direction. I make sure he doesn't see me. Just one look in his direction brings back all the memories of that night. I just know it in my soul that my self resolve will break and I will jump his bones as soon as I see his muscular arms, his full lips which seem to draw me in unintentionally, his soft eyes, his ton...STOP!! UGGHH!! I'll kill him. I can't even think straight. Ufff.
Maggie has recently introduced three rooms in the hospital as part of her research. I personally like the Blue and Green rooms more. They seem to have a calming effect on me, the green one more than the blue one but it's fine.
Link's PoV:
I've never experienced this feeling before. Not to brag but I'm accustomed with women throwing themselves at me and not the other way around. This woman has been haunting my dreams since the moment I laid eyes on her. I find my eyes searching for her even though she's not in the room. It's been two days since I've seen her. I really think she's avoiding me. I've caught glimpses of her in the hospital but as soon as I reach there, phuushh she's vanished. Ughh. I know she said it'll be a ' one- time thing ' but I just don't want to lose a friend like her. Maybe hopefully in the future things might be different but at least now just being her friend will be enough.
When I heard that Dr. Pierce has introduced three 'mood rooms' , I have to say my interest was piqued. I decide to check those rooms out. Maybe I'll even find her sister in the process, you never know right? ;)
Currently, Maggie and Amelia are sitting in the Blue Room finally having a much needed 'Sister Moment'. Maggie is telling Amelia how the Blue Room works. She wants Amelia to feel better as she knows how she had been recently. If only she could strangle that ginger man and the mother of his child for time and again hurting her beloved sister. Her whole life she had been a single child and now that she has been gifted with two amzaing sisters, she finally understood that she had needed them all along and can't help but feel fiercely protective towards them. No one can hurt them on her watch, she'll make sure of that. She loved them too much to see them hurt.
So here they are in the Blue Room, Maggie trying to uplift Amelia's mood that had been somber for a few days. If only she knew about the conference....
The room has definitely made Amelia curious. She wants to know what this room does. While languidly spinning in her chair, Amelia asks, " Sooo, blue light lowers blood pressure? "
"Significantly. And some studies even suggest that it could even improve your mood." Maggie wants to help Amelia in any way she possibly can and adds, "Well I'm not saying that it's a cure all or anything but you might wanna spend some time...", she trails off after turning her and noticing that she most definitely has lost her audience. Amelia is in her own world lazily spinning in her chair thinking God knows about what. Maggie is surprised to see Amelia in such a good mood after all the Love Triangle fiasco.
She curiously asks Amelia when she sees that she has yet not gained her attention, " Okay the room doesn't work thaaatt fast. I deserve an award if it did but...what's going on? " she smiles looking at her happy expression.
"Nothing" is her only reply. Since when did AMELIA of all people become a woman of a few words? Huh, astonishing.
Maggie probes further, " Nothing?? I can't believe it 'cause the last time I saw you there was a fair amount of crying and absolutely zero chair spinning. So spill, sister."
Finally getting her to answer, " Fine. I might have had some insanely good sex at the conference in San Diego " she says while stretching lazily.
Shock is written all over Maggie's face. How can her sister have sex with a stranger at a complete unknown place? She sometimes just cannot believe Amelia. Many a times Amelia's antics force Maggie to question Tom Koracick's surgical skills. Did that arrogant man leave a part of her tumor behind in her sometimes highly illogical brain? Guess she'll never know.
Chuckling nervously she asks, " Wait, WHAT? You had insane sex with a complete stranger in San Diego? I knew you should not be left alone. I definitely should've gone with you!! Ugghh "
" Hey!! That's mean." Amelia laughs. " By the way, it was not insane sex, it was insanely good sex. And not with a complete stranger. It helped my mood a lot more than your precious Blue Rooom" she sings trying to get under Maggie's skin.
" Oooh, so like a rebound !! "
" More like muscle-bound ", both laugh.
Link's PoV:
I just checked out The Game Room, I realised it can be useful for my patients who have trouble doing PT. Games are a form of PT only. I have to keep that in mind. The Plant Room was actually soothing. I really liked it. Only the Blue Room is left now. I step towards the room when all of a sudden I hear giggling inside the room. I immediately recognize the voice. Amelia!! Finally I found her. I enter the room with a grin on my face, " Knock knock..."
Meanwhile in the Blue Room:
The door suddenly opens to reveal none other than Link, " Knock knock...", he says with a goofy grin on his face. Ugh that mouth!! Ehhhh. What do I do now? I can't even run away! Thank God there's Maggie here.
Link's grin is replaced with a nervous smile as soon as he spots Maggie sitting on the other chair.
" Oh hey. Dr. Pierce!! ". He's just standing there like a dumb person nervously looking between the two when he suddenly recalls Dr. Pierce's email. Now there's a topic.
" Dr. Pierce I took a look at your sternal reconstruction thing and emailed you some thoughts.", all the while avoiding eye contact with Amelia because he knows as soon as he'll look into her eyes, his smile will give away their secret.
" Sorry it took me so long. I was at a conference in San Diego.", Link says, subtly glancing at Amelia's way.
Amelia's eyes widened at his slip up and she jerks her head towards Maggie. " Oooh ", is her reply. Amelia can practically see the dots connecting in Maggie's head. Her back straightens and she moves towards Link quietly scrutinizing him, silently letting him know that she's aware of their shenanigans. Maggie then looks at Amelia with humor and playfulness in her eyes and then looks at Link.
Link gets extremely uncomfortable under Maggie's scrutiny. He chances looking at Amelia to see her reaction but her head his down in embarrassment and she is trying her best to avoid eye contact with either of them. Oh shit Maggie knows!! Link then goes on to ramble, " Umm, nice room...very blue. Uhhh it's very cool", chuckling humorlessly. He quickly acknowledges Amelia's presence in the room, nodding in her direction, " Dr. Shepherd " and leaves hurriedly.
Oh my God that was awkward.
Maggie swiftly turns towards Amelia judging her slightly, " OH MY GOD!! "
Amelia tries to redeem herself by justifying her actions, " It was a one-time thing!! That is it. I just needed some pain management." Amelia then nervously rambles to escape Maggie's questions, "Does this room change colours? Does it do pink? "
Maggie just looks at her smugly, " Didn't I ask you to totally hit that Ortho God in the beginning? Okay so now you realise I was right all along? Heh? Ohh, this is so great. And to answer your question, no it doesn't do pink", she laughs with mirth.
"Oh shut up Maggie. I have a surgery. Bye ". She quickly leaves to avoid Maggie's further questioning and the look of smugness on her face. Yeah yeah yeah she was right. But I can't just say it to her face. She won't let me see the end of the day with her boasting then. I'll just kill Link. It's all HIS fault!! Why did he tell Maggie he was in San Diego? Where is that gorgeous, no wait, scratch that, stupid man?
Maggie can't contain her joy. She is exultant. I have to tell Meredith! I just don't understand why these two stupid sisters of mine don't acknowledge the fact that I'm the smartest and the most intelligent of them all? On top of that, I'm always right. Heh heh heh. Look in Amelia's case, I just knew Link is right for her. I guess I'm the most sane sister in The Sister Lafy Chiefs or The Lady Chief Trifecta...whatever it is that Amelia likes to call it. With a smug look on her face she leaves to search for Jackson.
Amelia gets paged in the pit. She bumps into Link on her way and corners him with accusations.
Link leans down slightly to hear her better as she is whispering and her body is too small and petite in comparison to his tall, muscular figure. He is smiling at her when she says, " I thought we agreed we weren't gonna tell people? "
" Yeah we did" , he looks at her quizzically.
" Why did you tell Maggie you were in San Diego? " Is she blaming me? He can't help but smile at her restlessness.
" Cause I was. At a conference ", he slightly raises his eyebrows.
" Yeah but I told her I had sex at a conference. She obviously connected the dots! "
" No no no, wait. Hold up. So you told her about the sex but I'm in trouble for mentioning the location?!", he teases her. Amelia realizes how unreasonable and ridiculous she sounds.
That teasing gleam in his eye is distracting her. She starts walking away and says, " Okay. Can I just reiterate that it was a one-time thing. It was..."
" Pain management like you said ", he says in a sing-song voice, completing for her.
" There's more to it. For acute pain, not a chronic. One dose. Do not refill ". She stops. Wait. That sounded really really wrong. " Ew. Sorry ".
Link laughs at the unintentional innuendo. That woman is too damn funny sometimes.
She again quickly walks further away from him. He follows her. " I think to be safe, we need to steer clear of each other for a while."
Link panics. How much longer does she want to avoid me? Why? " You have already managed to successfully avoid me for 2 days. Did that help? "
He asks incredulously, " You really think that's necessary? "
" I do. Because...", she trails off and turns towards him. Her eyes slightly glaze over and she stares at his muscular arms and sturdy chest, her mind obviously in the gutter while saying, "...pheromones"
Her answer somewhat shocks Link but he obviously notices Amelia staring at his chest whilst speaking. He then decides to mess with her a little and steps closer to her, " What about them? ", he says with a teasing grin.
She takes a while to answer, still looking at him.
" I really like yours " , she says straightforwardly. Ooh I like women who know what they like.
" Okay then. I'll avoid you completely ", he whispers seductively. Amelia stares at him a second longer, nods and then turns around sharply. She thinks, I have successfully managed to embarrass myself twice in less than 15 minutes. What is the matter with me today?!
" You paged? ", both simultaneously question Richard entering Trauma Room 2. Both of them look at each with surprise. Link has a very happy and teasing grin on his face. Amelia is a different story. She just wants to run away from there. How will I survive this day around him? I know I'll jump his bones before this day ends if he keeps looking at me like that!!  She has a shocked expression on her face.
Both of them now put their game faces on and examine the patient. But the whole while Amelia keeps bumping into Link. Is he doing this purposely? He just knows I cannot resist. Ughh I don't like him at all!
Link is just having a blast. He finally came to a conclusion that the patient needed and MRI stat.
He informed the orderlies, " I'd like to take her for an MRI". He realised that he was not the only one saying this sentence. He turned towards her to realise that she had said the exact same words as him at the exact sa.e time. He smiled at her in a flirting way and she got extremely flustered and turned her head away softly whispering. " Oh God ". Thi bwas going to be an interesting case.
In the Scan Room:
They are waiting for the scans to come up. Amelia is sitting on the chair with Link leaning on the wall behind her. Both of them are painfully aware of each other's presence but don't say anything. Link gets tired of the wait and rests his hand on the armrest of Amelia's chair. Amelia glances at his hand and sharply turns away her head recalling all the beautiful things his hands are capable of doing. She blushed fiercely and quickly whispered, " I have to get off this case."
Link obviously understood why Anelia said what she said and smirked. Before he could say anything, the scans were up. They were disastrous. The patient was at an increasing risk of paralysis if they didn't do anything soon. They agreed that the patient needed both of their surgical skills and put aside their feelings and teasing for a few hours.
In the OR :
It would be an understatement to say that Link was impressed by Amelia's surgical skills. She had precision, stable hands, perfection, calmness, confidence and she knew exactly what the patient needed. This made her even more attractive to him.
He complimented her surgical skill and engaged in light flirting with her. He noticed her obvious smile behind her surgical mask which reached her eyes making her eyes gleam in a very captivating way. For a second there, they got lost in each other's eyes and seemed to forget that there was a patient open on their table. They quickly recovered and the surgery was going really well.
Suddenly a nurse informed them that the patient just lost motor signals in all of her extremities. Both the surgeons looked at each other in panic, double-checking their work but they had yet to make any mistake. What had happened?! Did they do something wrong? But we were nowhere near those nerves!! In the end, the patient ended up quadriplegic.
Both of them were deeply disappointed and disheartened. They were continuously thinking what had gone wrong there? Both came up with nothing. Amelia was more bothered by the surgery and was devastated. She quickly disappeared after updating the patient and her daughter about the outcome of the surgery. Link was worried for her. Where did she go? He was feeling oddly protective towards her and wanted to take away her pain. He wanted to comfort her and quickly found her in the only place he knew she'd be at the moment.  The Blue Room.
He silently entered the room to find Amelia leaning on the wall dejectedly. He closed the door and leaned opposite to her, near the door. She noticed him and walked in his direction. Link saw her sad expression and wanted to wipe that expression off her face. When she came face-to-face with him, he clasped her hands in his and held on to them tightly.  Amelia freed her left hand from his grasp and locked the door quickly. She then held his hand tighter and started leaning towards his lips.
He quickly understood what she needed. He could really use some pain management himself. When their lips finally touched, the failure of today quickly relieved their body and the whole world seemed to just vanish until there were only the two of them holding each other. The kiss soon became heated and Link let go of her hands to wrap his arms tightly around her slim waist. He swiftly glided his hands up her back, one rested just above her hip and the other just below her shoulders eliciting a long moan from her.
She quickly wrapped one hand around his neck to deepen the kiss and the other hand held onto his arm for dear life. Her knees grew wobbly. Link pressed her body to his until there was no space left. Amelia could not even describe this exhilarating feeling. He changed their positions so that she was now pinned  to the door by his sturdy chest. They continued kissing desperately. She slowly started backing him towards one of the chairs until he was sitting. He pulled her to him, deeply aroused, until she straddled his lap. The were sitting chest to chest vigorously kissing in the Blue Room taking away each other's pain. They stayed there taking away each other's pain until there was no hurt left and laid there in each other's arms in peaceful silence for the long night.
Fic: 31 days of whump (2/31)
A/N: Oh, what the heck, I might as well rapid-fire the first two or three.
Word count: 3 764
He knew a good portion of his character flaws. One was dyslexia, although he didn’t really consider it a flaw anymore. Another was what someone, sometime, had argued had to be ADHD, or at least ADD. He didn’t really care about that, he knew his attention span wasn’t the world greatest, but it was alright.
Some would call it a character flaw to be as tied up to his job as he was.
And there was a bunch more.
Eating like a medium sized industrial vacuum cleaner…
Maybe a bit more quick-tempered than one should be…
Right then and there, chasing a suspect, only one of those flaws he could come up with from the top of his head came back to bite him in the ass. -Or rather, the ankle.
He heard tires squeal against the hot asphalt. And quick reflexes was the only thing that saved him from being hit head on by the Mercedes-Benz star, but it wasn’t quite enough for him to avoid being hit by the car all together.
The first couple of seconds after he landed, he was in a sort of numb state where pain didn’t register yet. It was almost like a land of denial, as long as it didn’t hurt yet it couldn’t be that bad.
At the same time, he wasn’t sure if he could force himself to look towards his ankles.
The car that hit him didn’t stop, the next car didn’t either. But then again, it wasn’t even sure that the second car had seen what happened.
And then his right ankle started letting him know something was seriously wrong.
Tan came running up to him, and Luca managed to convince him to bolt after the suspect.
Next came Hondo.
SWATSWATSWAT
“Are you hurt?” Hondo asked as he kneeled down next to Luca, who was in the process of propping himself up on one elbow.
Luca blinked a few times and chanced a glance towards his legs.
“Luca, are you hurt?”
“My leg’s broken.” Luca answered with a 1000 yard stare.
“You think your leg is broken?” Hondo asked, “Which one?”
“No. My leg IS broken.” Luca swallowed.
Hondo frowned, “Which one?”
“Right one.”
“Lower leg? Upper leg?”
Luca swallowed hard, “My ankle’s toast. My lower leg in general feels wrong.”
Then random cars which had been further away, and had a better view of the whole accident started slowing down and stopping.
Hondo called in the accident, and Luca’s suspected injury. Agreeing that they needed an ambulance to come pick him up.
“Hey, I barely saw what happened…” A guy who had parked his truck came up to them, “Are you alright?”
“He likely broke his right leg.” Hondo answered for Luca, “Dispatch said the ambulance was ten minutes out.”
The guy nodded, “Anything I can do?”
Luca shook his head.
“No, nothing I can think of…” Hondo shrugged.
“We’re good here.” Luca ground out, “You can move on, no need in being parked on the side of the road and making LA traffic worse.”
The guy chuckled a bit, “Okay, alright. I wish you a speedy recovery.”
“Thanks.” Luca nodded, he was uncharacteristically pale by now.
The guy left.
Hondo looked back down at Luca, “How are you feeling?”
The blond shook his head.
“Still not a mind reader…” Hondo reminded him.
“My leg’s pounding.” Luca grimaced, “And I feel like I’m either going to pass out, or puke.”
“Well, please don’t do either…” Hondo smirked, hoping that he’d pull a short laugh from Luca. A short laugh from Luca would make it feel like everything was going to be alright.
“Man, it hurts.” Luca admitted through gritted teeth.
“I know…” Hondo nodded and placed a comforting hand on Luca’s shoulder, “Do you want me to start untying your boot? So that we can take a look at your ankle?”
Luca shook his head, “Nah. I think the ambulance people has more experience in that. Let them do it.”
Hondo nodded, “Okay, that’s alright.”
SWATSWATSWAT
After work they all went to visit Luca at the hospital.
He was basically just laying, waiting for swelling of his ankle and leg to go down enough for the surgeons to piece it back together.
“Hey, how are you feeling?” Deacon asked as soon as he had stepped into the room.
“Been better.” Luca admitted, “But they give me enough painkillers to make laying here semi-comfortable…”
Deacon offered up a brief smile.
“So, what’s the damage report?” Street bumped in, nodding towards Luca’s leg, which was covered in a temporary cast and rested on a mountain of pillows.
“Definitely broke it.” Luca shook his head, “Don’t really remember the fancy explanation for it, but I broke my leg six inches above the ankle, straight across both the bones… And my ankle is in multiple pieces. No better way to put it.”
Street nodded slowly as he tried to imagine the fractures in his mind. “So you’ll be laid up for a while?”
Luca shrugged, “I don’t really know what’s going to happen. Except that I need surgery to give all that a chance to heal…”
“That sucks, man…”
Luca bobbed his head in a nod, “Sure does.”
“On the plus side, Tuana might come visit you…” Street teased.
“Tuana?” Tan asked, as Luca blushed bright red.
“Kelly’s mom…” Street answered with a shit eating grin.
“What?” Deacon’s eyebrows shot up, “Are you dating her?”
“No…” Luca shook his head, “N-”
“Not officially.” Street chuckled, “I’m really tired of the way the two of you are doing your best futile attempt at keeping it hidden.”
Luca shook his head, “Well, it’s not, -official-, yet.”
“Well, maybe you two can finally get a move on, now that you’re off duty.” Street shrugged, causing most of the other S.W.A.T members to laugh.
“Dude, stop it.”
“Never.” Street answered smugly, “Not unless you come over here and stop me.”
“You’re punching a man while he’s laying down.” Luca said as he gestured to his cast clad leg.
“Only unfair fight is the one you lose…” Tan chuckled, “Isn’t that what you said to the recruits last year?”
“Yeah. I also told them to not kill each other, because they weren’t in the streets.” Luca pointed out.
Right then there was a knock at the door, before it opened up and Kelly and her mother entered.
“Hey team!” Kelly beamed, she saw most of the team first, before she came far enough inside the room to see Luca, “Hey Luca. Mom said you got hurt.”
Her eyes went wide when she saw the cast on his leg.
“I did…” Luca nodded, “But I’m going to be alright. It’s just going to take some time.”
“Wow, hey…” Tuana nodded at the guys and Chris, “I should have known all of you’d be here…”
Hondo smirked, “Actually, we were just about to leave… But our boy here could use the company…”
Tuana blushed a bit, but recovered quickly. Then she looked over at Luca, “Hey there… How are you doing?”
Luca shrugged a little, “Gonna be a rough couple of months… But I’ll be okay.”
“You didn’t really answer my question, now did you?”
Luca chuckled, “Well, no. My leg hurts, and I have to have it elevated and completely still…”
Tuana smirked a little, “Can you actually lay, or sit, still?”
The whole team chuckled.
“She really called you out there…” Chris grinned.
“Well, my girl texted me that she would have dinner ready when I came home. So I gotta leave now.” Hondo said, looking at the other team members in a hope that they would take the hint.
“Yeah, and we have that thing at… At…” Chris rolled her hand in the air, like she was searching for the correct word.
“Oh, yeah…” Street nodded when he caught on, “Yeah, you, me and Tan are meeting Derek and his girl…”
“Exactly.” Chris nodded.
Deacon smirked, “Well, I’ve got about an hour before I have to pick up the two youngest from kindergarten… That gives me a chance to grab a coffee and sit down in peace and quiet for a spell.”
The team members who weren’t confined to a hospital bed up and left, switching between goodbye hugs and fist-bumps on their way out the door.
SWATSWATSWAT
“Well, the team acted weird…?” Tuana shrugged after the team left.
Luca chuckled, “Yeah, you should’ve heard them before you guys came.”
“Oh yeah?”
Luca nodded, then he tried to shift a little in his bed, ending up with grimacing and groaning, fighting not to let out every four letter word he could think of.
After half a minute he pulled the pillow from below his head and placed it over his own face, finally allowing himself to whisper a silent ‘fuck’ into it, before removing it and placing it back under his head.
“-Are you alright?” Tuana asked, “Do you need anything?”
Luca shook his head, letting his right hand dart up to wipe away the remnants of smeared tears.
“I’m alright.” he choked out, “I just need my leg to stop aching so much.”
“You’re acting weird…” Kelly said with worry in her eyes.
“I’m sorry Kelly-girl…” Luca sighed, “It’s just that my leg hurts really bad. And I don’t want to… I don’t want to say bad words in front of you…”
“Like, Hell? Or, Damn?” Kelly asked, “Some kids at my old school cussed really much. Some kids at my new school says some bad words every now and then… It’s not like I haven’t heard it before?”
Luca chuckled, “Well, I’m trying to be a good role model here…”
Kelly chuckled, “Alright. Okay.”
Tuana chuckled, then she looked at Kelly, “Kelly, maybe you could go down to the lobby and buy yourself some snacks? Since we didn’t go home to eat before we got here…”
Kelly’s face lit up at that, as Tuana pulled out a few dollars to give to her. “And bring me back a coke.”
Kelly nodded before she headed out the door.
SWATSWATSWAT
“So, how are you really doing?” Tuana asked after the door closed.
“I’m a little freaked out…” Luca admitted, “But I know that’s mostly just because this hurts like a motherfucker right now.”
Tuana nodded.
“Wanna hear something funny?”
“What?”
“Street kinda mentioned that we had been seeing each other a bit more recently…” Luca admitted, “To the rest of the team… That’s why they acted weird…”
She smirked, “I kinda guessed it had to be something along those lines…”
“Yeah…” Luca nodded, “He’s getting impatient…”
“Well, he’s not completely alone…” Tuana winked, then stood up and stepped over to Luca’s bed, placing a hand on top of his.
“Maybe we should… Y’know…” Luca’s tongue darted out to wet his lower lip, “Maybe we should…”
“Make it official?”
Luca nodded.
“Maybe we should…” Tuana smirked and leaned down to place a kiss on Luca’s lips.
Luca met the kiss eagerly, running a hand through her dark hair.
“You had me worried.” She said as she pulled away a little, “I heard it on the news before I got your call.”
“I’m sorry…” Luca said, rubbing a calloused hand against her upper arm, “Someone left my phone on the other side of the room, with my clothes… And I didn’t exactly know where it was…”
“Not like that…” Tuana shook her head, “You were in great pain, of course your first thought wasn’t to call your secret girlfriend. And besides, I bet the doctors and nurses kept you occupied for a while…”
Luca nodded at that.
“I meant, I know I don’t want to lose you…” she admitted, “Actually, I’ve known that ever since you helped Kelly get into her new school…”
Luca’s lips curved at one side.
“But, I also want to be able to be proud of you in public.” She winked, “Not… Not real public, but… Amongst our friends…”
“Darling, it would make me so incredibly happy to just… -To just tell my friends that I’m with this amazing woman and mother…” Luca gave her arm a squeeze, “And to be Kelly’s… Kelly’s… Step-dad?”
Tuana chuckled, then nodded.
“About that…” Luca looked down at his lap for a bit, “I never asked, ‘cause it wasn’t my place earlier…”
She nodded slowly.
“But…” he looked back up, “Is Kelly’s dad still in the picture?”
She shook her head, “No, he’s dead.”
“I’m so sorry…”
“Relax.” Tuana rolled her eyes, “He’s never been in the picture… He left as soon as he heard I was knocked up. He died before Kelly was born.”
“I’m sorry to hear that. Must’ve been rough on you…”
“It has made me cautious with men…” she chuckled, “You must’ve noticed.”
Luca couldn’t help but chuckle a bit, “And here I thought I was the one playing it safe…”
“We need to talk about your definition of ‘playing it safe’…” Tuana chuckled and jerked her head in the direction of his busted leg, “You’re more of a crash-test-dummy…”
Luca blushed a bit, “I deserved that one…”
She let her hand come down at his hairline, and brushed his hair back a few times before she leaned down to kiss him once again.
They got lost in it.
Lost in it, and they didn’t even notice Kelly opening the door and returning to the room.
Not before she let her presence be known with an audible squeal.
Luca and Tuana both froze, then Tuana stood back up.
“So you two ARE together!” Kelly grinned, “I knew it!”
Luca and Tuana both still had the deer in headlights look for a few seconds more before they simultaneously broke out laughing.
“How long have you been together?” Kelly wanted to know.
Luca shrugged, “A while.”
“Since my birthday…” Tuana clarified.
“That’s…” Kelly started counting on her fingers, “That’s four months!”
Tuana nodded.
“Why didn’t you just tell me?”
“-We wanted to know that it would work out between us first…” Tuana answered, “We were planning on telling you soon.”
Luca nodded, “I hope you’re not angry…”
“Why would I be angry?” Kelly frowned at the thought, “I’ve been wishing for this for almost a year!”
Tuana and Luca both visibly relaxed a bit more at that.
“Does the team know?”
“Not really…” Luca answered, “Street might have started to spread rumors, but they haven’t been confirmed yet. I was planning on telling them after we had told you.”
Kelly grinned.
“Well, now you know…” Tuana chuckled.
Kelly nodded. “So, are you going to move in together?”
The two grownups looked at each other for a moment, neither really knowing the answer.
“That’s something we haven’t talked about yet…” Luca said, scratching the side of his head.
Tuana nodded towards Luca, “Yeah, we should probably talk about that soon…”
“-Amongst other things…” Luca nodded back.
“Am I going to have siblings?”
Both Luca and Tuana froze once again.
“That’s also something we haven’t talked about yet…” Tuana answered.
Luca nodded.
“But is there a chance of it?” Kelly asked. Hope was audible in her voice.
Luca shrugged, “We haven’t talked about it yet. So we don’t know what to answer…”
“Can you talk to each other about that a little quick?” Kellie prompted in a voice only a girl in her pre-teens could manage, before realizing how she sounded and added “Please?”
“I think that’s something we have to talk about alone…” Luca thought out loud, and gave Tuana a questioning look.
Tuana nodded.
“If I went outside, could you talk about it now?” Kelly asked, still very excited about the idea.
The two grownups looked at each other, scanning each other’s expressions for what the other one thought.
Half a minute later Tuana nodded, “Sure.”
Kelly grinned, “I have my phone on me. Call me when you have an answer!”
Tuana nodded, and Kelly headed out the door again.
SWATSWATSWAT
“So…” Tuana started, pulling a chair over next to Luca’s bed, “Guess we have to talk…”
Luca nodded, “Yeah…”
“Do you want kids?” Tuana asked, tilting her head.
Luca trapped his lower lip in thought for a moment, then he looked over at Tuana. “Well, yeah… But as long as I get to be a father figure for Kelly, that’s enough. I mean, if you don’t want more kids…”
Tuana’s face softened, “But if I’m up for more kids?”
“Then yes. Definitely yes.” He winked.
“How many kids would you like?” Tuana followed up.
“I don’t know, never really thought about that…” Luca rubbed his neck, “Always figured I’d have to start with one anyway…”
Tuana laughed, “Think about it… Do you have a maximum limit?”
Luca thought, then chuckled, “Well, I guess it’s probably an idea to slow down if we’d have to drive two cars to go anywhere as a family.”
Tuana chuckled as well, “You’re probably right about that.”
“That being said, I can’t really come up with a number right now.” Luca shrugged, “What’s your number”`
“Well, growing up I always wanted a big family.” She answered, “But I guess two to four kids would do…”
“So, four’s your max?”
“I wouldn’t say that…” Tuana shrugged, “I guess my actual max is when I start feeling that I’m losing more grip than is okay.”
He chuckled, “That’s a nice max limit. Mind if I adopt it?”
She chuckled, “No, go ahead.”
“Then that’s my max as well, whether that means two or ten…”
“So, at least one sibling then.”
“As sure as we’re able to, yeah.” Luca nodded, “I mean, you’re obviously able to… You’ve got a real life proof of that walking around… I can’t exactly point to a definitive proof like that.”
Tuana shrugged, “Just because I have one kid, doesn’t mean it’s going to be just as easy to have a second one. Not this many years later at least.”
Luca nodded, “Well, at least we can have some fun trying.”
Tuana chuckled, “Yeah, after your leg is better.”
He nodded, “Yeah, there’s not going to be any ‘trying’ for AT LEAST a month. Maybe longer.”
She nodded, “I think you’re right about that…”
He nodded.
They both fell silent for a little while, then Luca cleared his voice, “About that other question…”
“What other question?”
“If we were going to move in together…”
Tuana nodded.
“What are we going to answer to that?”
She shrugged, “I don’t know…”
“I mean, there’s three possibilities I see.” He shrugged, and started counting them off on his fingers, “First one, I move in with you guys. Second, you guys move in with me… We might have to figure out something to do about Street then… Or the third option, we continue living in separate houses, but I sleep over at your place every now and then, and vice versa…”
Tuana nodded, “All three are valid options.”
Luca nodded.
“Just because we chose one for now, doesn’t mean that it has to stay that way…” she mentioned.
“That’s true.” he nodded.
“How about we go for option number three for now, and then we just roll with it? See what happens?”
Luca nodded.
“But of course, if you want option one or two…” she shrugged, “I mean, we could keep the other house and rent it out…”
Luca shrugged, “Whatever is fine by me. Sticking to status quo and just seeing where that leads us sounds good.”
She nodded, adding a reassuring smile.
He smiled.
“But maybe you’d like to stay with us for a little while now?” she asked, “I mean, Kelly and I are probably at home more often than Street, right?”
He nodded, then tried to shift ever so slightly. His right hand darted down towards his leg, and it took everything he had to not start sobbing. “Dammit.”
“Do you want me to go ask the doctor if you can get anything stronger?”
He shook his head, wiping at his eyes as salty tears rolled from them.
“Luca, you’re in pain…”
Once he was able to speak again, he looked at her, “Well, I can’t really have opioids.”
She tilted her head, “Have you had a problem in the past?”
He shook his head, knowing what she was thinking. “Not like that… I just have a really low tolerance for that stuff, it often makes me sick… And I don’t want to add ‘nausea’ or ‘throwing up’ to my list of troubles right now.”
“Oh, I’m sorry… I thought… That was dumb of me…”
“Don’t think about it… It was a bad choice of words on my part.” he chuckled.
“So, do you want to stay with us for a while when you’re discharged from this place?”
He nodded, “Could I borrow the guestroom? I’m pretty sure it’ll probably hurt too much to accidentally get bumped into… -And you move around a lot when you sleep…”
“Of course…” she nodded, then she glanced up at the clock hanging on the wall, “Maybe we should call Kelly now?”
He nodded, “We probably should, but I’d like to sneak a kiss from you first…”
She smiled, stood up and stepped over to make that happen.
SWATSWATSWAT
“Now? What did you decide?” Kelly asked, almost bouncing where she stood.
“What do you want to know the answer to first?” Tuana asked.
“Everything.” Kelly grinned, “But I guess it makes sense to start with if we’re all going to live together first.”
“We decided that we don’t know the final answer yet.” Luca shrugged, “But I’m going to stay with you guys for a while now that my leg is injured.”
Tuana nodded, “After that we’ll have to wait and see. We might decide to live like Theo’s parents. They don’t live together all of the time, but it seems like all three of them like the arrangement.”
Kelly nodded, “Theo’s parents fight less than most of the other parents, so that’s cool!”
Luca really liked Kelly’s way of reasoning.
“And babies?” she then quickly switched over to the next question on her list, “Am I going to be a big sister?”
Luca and Tuana laughed.
“Well…” Tuana started, “If everything works out well, then you are going to be one.”
Kelly’s grin grew wide, “Really?”
“Yeah.” Tuana nodded, “But we can’t make any promises before you actually have a brother or sister, you know that? Sometimes it can be really hard to get pregnant.”
Kelly nodded, her head going up and down at a comical speed. “But you want kids together?”
They both nodded.
“But if it doesn’t work out for us, you are enough.” Luca pointed out, “Remember that.”
Kelly smiled, “Thanks.”
Chapter 2: Clarissa
You ignored Ransom as you talked to Harlan, it was amazing how much tension was in the room, Marta shifted uncomfortably around, fiddling with the books, Harlan tapped his fingers against the velvet chair, doing his best not to pry in the business of the both of you. You sat on the loveseat, facing Harlan with a smile on your face as you talked about your research paper, Ransom was burning holes in the back of your head, he chewed loudly on the biscuits he got from his coat pocket, doing everything in his power to think of a way to make you leave, or just torture you.
"Excuse Grandpa," Ransom said getting up, "may I have a word with Y/n? Please? Alone?"
You gave him a look like he had five heads, about to protest, Ransom took your hand and pulled you to a door that lead into a different hallway from where you came in at.
"You wanna tell me what you're doing here?" Ransom asked, "and you can't run this time honey."
"First off, don't ever call me honey in your life again or it will be short." You waved a finger in front of his face, "second off, I'm here because it's the main priority of my class, like I said to Harlan, it's my research literary paper, that has to be twenty pages and I don't see you doing any sort of work Hugh."
He clenched his jaw, "I don't have anything, my main priority is the football team,"
"Of fucking course it is, and what girl you sleeping with?"
"She's my girlfriend, not some girl, it's love, her name is Clarissa."
"Clarissa Monroy? That insanely too happy cheerleader?" You cringed
"She's the captain, and I'm working on being the football captain."
On the other side of the door, Marta and Harlan listened closely, mainly Harlan.
"Harlan, you shouldn't do that!" Marta whispered, trying to pull him away from the door.
He shooed her off, "This is my house I can do whatever I want."
"Just stay out of my way and we won't have a problem, honey." Ransom smiled
"Whatever you say Hughie, it seem like you're always in my way though." You turned around and grabbed the door handle, Ransom had his hand blocking you from leaving.
He leaned down, close to your face, "get your paper done and go, I don't want people thinking I have anything to do with you."
You rolled your eyes and pulled open the door with all your strength, making Ransom stumble slightly. Harlan was sorting in the same chair smiling at you, Marta was facing the bookshelf.
"Everything alright Y/n? I hope Ransom isn't giving you a hard time." Harlan knew exactly what was going on, he had a plan that would be put into action very soon.
"I'm good, me and Ransom were just catching up." You smiled, looking back at Ransom in the doorway, looking a little peeved. "Let's get back to work shall we?"
Over the next few months you were between, school, work and Harlan's house. You started to see Ransom more around, whether it was a passing glance at school or walking around Harlan's. Harlan often invited you over for lunch and would ask you to stay and use his study for your paper. You were happy to take the offer of course, but that offer also came with Ransom who would creep over your shoulders while you typed.
There were a few incidents with Ransom and you, the first was when you were in the bathroom, he took the opportunity to take your items and place them on the top shelf of the library and taking the ladder, leaving you to look around, panic and finally trying to climb up the shelf to get your stuff. He stood in the next room laughing, watching you dismay for about half an hour until Marta begged him to help you.
Another incident happened, this time it was from you, you waited around a corner in the house with the dog's toy, Ransom sat outside on the patio by the pool smoking until get finally got up and began walking back in, "Hey Ransom, catch!" You yelled before throwing that toy at him, he caught it with ease and rolled his eyes, until he saw the face of two dogs jump him and fall into the pool.
The last incident that happened was just about the same, except you were talking to Harlan by the pool, "Hey Y/n! Catch!" He yelled, you fumbled with the football but was able to catch it, you looked at Harlan, confused.
"Ransom, you know there's no throwing-" Harlan was cut off by your shriek as Ransom tackled you into the pool, he had to admit, it was rather funny, but he kept a stern face.
Marta came running out, gasping at the situation, "Harlan is everything ok?" She asked rushing to the edge of the pool, "are they ok?"
You and Ransom came back up, you were pissed and you swam over to him and began splashing water at him, "YOU PIECE OF SHIT!"
Ransom laughed, blocking himself from your attacks, "that's what you get!"
"Every is going smoothly" Harlan assured Marta, smiling at the two of you fight in the pool.
 Another two months passed without a fight from either of you, Fran, the maid, made sandwiches for the both of you in the kitchen, Ransom always called her "The Help".
"You really shouldn't call her that," you said one day, taking a bite of the sandwich Fran made for you, it's been about 5 months since you first came over and the tension between the both of you was normal, you both welcomed the challenge of fighting with each other.  "she'd probably stop calling you Hugh if you did."
Ransom huffed, sitting across from you at the table in the kitchen, trying to ignore you by playing on his phone.
"Don't you have homework? What the hell is end your Major? All you do is play football and fuck-"
"Shut up!" He slammed his palm down on the table "are you always this annoying?"
"Are you always a little bitch?" You smirked
"Why does my grandpa even let you come here? You're always annoying with that loud music in your headphones." He pointed to the headphones around your neck, the music was just loud enough for you to hear without putting them on.
"It's called metal, you should look into it instead of listening to all the same rappers," you turned down the volume, "you look like the guy that says he listens to everything, but once any kind of rock or metal plays, you're crying like a bitch."
"I do listen to everything," he said, turning his phone to you, showing you his music library, "I listen to rock."
You couldn't hold back the laughter, tears were coming from your eyes as you pushed his phone away, "oh Hugh, you can't be serious, your library is mainly trap, and not the good kind. Not to be rude, but you listen to shit."
Ransom took his phone, furrowing  his eyebrows "If you mean all that screaming and growling shit, then no, I don't listen to it."
"What a shame, you should try it sometimes."
You and Ransom talked a bit more, learning more about each other, he lived on his own while you still live with your parents. You told him that your mom was a doctor and your dad was a realtor, that you still work at the bakery, even though you could live comfortably off of them. He even offered to buy you an apartment, you politely declined. You wanted to work for what you needed, even if it was a part time job. He told you that his major was engineering, which made you laugh, you could never see Ransom living a finger to do anything. He said that football was his main goal, though, engineering was to fall back on. You applauded him for his plan, at least he was smart enough to have one.
You both were so deep into conversation that his phone ringing surprised you both, he looked at it and held up a finger.
"Clarissa, babe, how are you?" He smiled, "oh? Really? Ok, I'll be right out." Ransom got up from the table and began making his way to the front door, "Clarissa is here." You got up and followed him, he opened the door and waited on the porch.
Clarissa had been over a few times with Ransom, you've never ran into her before, she was the exact image of what a rich white girl would look like. Petite, long, blonde hair and blue eyes, had plans for plastic surgery to get her boobs and ass bigger. She drove up in a newer model BMW and parked right next to Ransom. She stepped out of the car with a gift bag, still dressed in her cheer uniform. Normally the dogs would run up to people, but for some reason they stayed by you in the foyer with you.
"Ransom!" Her high pitched city girl voice called out, running up to him and jumping in his arms, "I got you a present." She winked, holding the bag out for him.
"I can't stand that damn girl," a voice from behind you said, it startled you but it was only Harlan, "she's sweet but so disrespectful."
"Thanks sweetheart" Ransom dropped her and opened his gift, Clarissa walked in, seeing you and the dogs.
"Aww," she smiled, reaching her hand out to pet the dogs, but they snarled and growled, "guess your still getting used to me, it's ok." She turned her attention to you, "and you must be Y/n, Ransim told me that you were a high friend of his."
Friend? Yeah, right.
"Yeah, something like that, he told me a bit about you, even though I've seen you on campus." You held out your hand to shake but she didn't seem to care.
"That's right, we go to the same college, you must be really smart, it's like, really hard getting into a college like that, it's very expensive."
"I worked hard to get into it, unlike some people who can just buy their way in."
You could already tell that she was looking down on you and you didn't like it. Ransom came up from behind her and held her, almost like he could tell the tension in the room, "hey, we're gonna go, we have dinner plans tonight."
"It's at the restaurant on 5th, The Wine Bottle," She winked and held on to Ransom, "maybe you could try it one day."
Ransom looked at you with sorry eyes as he started to drag her out, "see ya,  gramps, Y/n."
The door closed behind, leaving you, Harlan and the dogs alone, "I told you, she's rude, I don't see what Ransom sees in those women."
You sighed and shrugged, "I guess if they look like a sex doll, it works for him." Harlan let out a hearty laugh. "I should get going, thanks for having me over again Harlan."
Packing up your stuff you headed for the front door, but could hear two people arguing on the other side.
"You didn't have to act like that Clarissa, I'm trying to make my grandpa like you, ok?" Ransom said, clearly aggravated.
"Be like what? Did I hurt the feelings of that bitch in there?" Clarissa, not sounding like the squeaky city girl she was earlier.
"Be nice." He seethed, "I'm doing this because I want to, not because I have too."
"Be nice? So you're taking up for her after she was rude to me?"
"No. I'm saying that you can't treat everyone like dirt, if you want to be part of my family you need-" SMACK!
"Miss goodie two shoes making you act nice all of a sudden? You fucking idiot, you're lucky that I'm still choosing to date you." She said, "you told my parents that you wouldn't be a problem, remember?"
"Yeah."
"Good, let's go to dinner babe."
You held your breath, hand covering your mouth. It made you angry, a rage burned all over your body, she can't just do that, she can't treat someone like that!
"Something wrong Y/n?" Harlan said walking up behind you, the dogs coming up to you and whining.
You swallowed the lump in your throat and turned to Harlan, all smiled, "yeah! Of course! See ya!" You said, rushing out the door behind you, both BMW's were gone as you ran to your car taking a moment in the driver's seat to breath, punching the steering wheel out of frustration. You couldn't let that happen again, not to Ransom.
chapter 21 of don’t read the last page is here!
masterpost
[kristanna / m / multichap / modern au with actress!anna and vetstudent!kristoff]
“Happy birthday, Kris.”
He reached into the bag and pulled out a square of fabric; he let it fall open and, after reading what was on the front of the t-shirt, looked at Anna with a mixture of shock and amusement.
Ellie squinted at it from the far end of the table. “Best dad ever? Why does it say that? I don’t get it.”
march
"Call me as soon as you're done, okay?"
"What if you're in the middle of saving a bunny's life or something?"
"I won't be. I'll probably still be at lunch."
Anna sighed in relief and stepped closer, leaning her forehead against his chest. "Oh, good. I'm nervous as fuck."
"Why?" he asked, settling his arms around her.
"I don't know. Just...now that I'm excited about it, I'm worried it'll be a false alarm after all or like...that something's wrong."
Kristoff kissed the top of her head. "It's going to be fine, baby. I'm sure of it."
She tilted her face up towards him, propping up her chin on his chest. "Why does everything sound so reassuring when you say it? Tell me something else that'll make me feel better."
"Uh...like what?"
"I don't know. That I'll never get morning sickness and only be in labor for five minutes."
"I don't think either of those things can really happen. But," he said quickly, seeing the disappointment on her face, "it'll be worth it. Because then we'll get to meet our baby. Who, just saying, is going to be the coolest kid of all time and will definitely be a Mario Kart prodigy."
She smiled and raised up on her toes to kiss him. "Love you."
"Love you back."
And then, because that seemed to be the way of things in his life these days, he had had to miss lunch in order to help out with an emergency surgery and missed lunch. The dog in question, thankfully, was completely fine, but his heart was pounding as he scrambled to check his phone. Ryder raised an eyebrow at the way he rushed into the break room. “All good, man?”
“Great,” Kristoff said absentmindedly as he flicked open his texts from Anna.
hey no worries that you didnt pick up sure u just got busy but congratulations dad🎈🎉👶
nov 12 is the due date but they said prob will be late since its our first
!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love you
For a moment he just stared down at the screen, hardly daring to breathe. So this was really happening; by the end of the year, he’d have a one-month-old baby. He was going to be a father.
“Stop mooning over the girlfriend and come help me in the kennels,” Ryder called.
“Fiancee,” Kristoff said absentmindedly before typing out a quick response, ignoring the exaggerated gasp of shock from the doorway.
I can’t wait. Love you back :)
---
“Kristoff?”
“Distractions won’t work this time,” he replied through clenched teeth.
“I’m not even racing this time, dumbass. What’s in 209 days?”
“Huh? I-- fuck!” he shouted as he drove right off the edge of the track, to Anna and Ryder’s delight, and promptly fell to last place.
“Watch out, Nattura,” Anna growled. “I’m coming for your ass.”
“Was she always like this?” Honey asked, amused, from where she was sprawled across the armchair.
“Yes,” Elsa replied from her spot on the floor, not looking up from her phone. “It was worst when we played Candyland, because there’s not even a point to being competitive at that.”
“Hello? Does anyone care about this ominous countdown on the fridge?” Sven asked again, huffing when he was drowned out by Anna’s cheering as she threw a banana peel in front of Ryder’s kart and secured a last-second victory.
Kristoff, at last, glanced at him. “Will you get me a beer while you’re over there?”
“Yes, if you tell me what the fuck is in 209 days and if I need to like, buy a Geiger counter or something.”
“Anna?” Honey asked suddenly, sitting up. “Everything good?”
“Fine,” she said distantly, suddenly the same shade of white as her t-shirt.
 Ryder, his eyes wide, put an arm around her shoulders to keep her from swaying off the sofa. “Jesus, is winning Mario Kart that exciting?” he asked.
“That’s like, November…” Sven said, frowning. “Why is Thanksgiving making you pass out?”
“I’m not passing out,” Anna said, her voice distant, and Kristoff swore under his breath, hastily getting to his feet and crossing to the kitchen himself to get a glass of water. “I’m pregnant, though.”
No one reacted until Elsa’s phone hit the floor, and then they all burst into a cacophony of questions.
“You’re what--”
“How long have you--”
“What the fuck--”
“I think I am going to actually pass out if you don’t all shut up,” Anna said, her voice suddenly nearly a shout, and they all froze and turned to look at her.
Kristoff handed her the glass of water then, and she took a long gulp before meeting her sister’s gaze. “I was going to tell you tonight, Elsa,” she explained, “you know, family and all. And the rest of you guys in a few more weeks when, you know, it’s less…” She waved a hand. “Risky. But...yes. We’re, uh, we’re having a baby. November 12th, mark your calendars for Anna Arendelle’s performance of a lifetime.”
Sven was the first to speak. “Damn,” he said, taking a sip of the beer he’d finally regained the sense to crack open, “you’re really gonna do that to some kid?”
“Do what?” she asked with a slight frown.
“Make him be a goddamn giant and a ginger.”
--
april
“You don’t have to stay up with me,” Anna said hoarsely as he passed her a glass of water. "You only signed up for morning sickness duties, not every hour of the day and night sickness watch."
“I won’t be able to sleep knowing you don’t feel good.”
“Yeah, but now you won’t be able to stay awake at the clinic tomorrow.”
“That’s what coffee is for,”
She sighed and wiped her hand across her mouth. “I think it’s over for now.”
Kristoff leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her temple. “Are you sure?”
“No. But I hope it is.”
“Me, too,” he said, getting to his feet before reaching down and offering a hand to help her up. She stumbled slightly, and he caught her, eyebrows knitting together with concern. “Come on, let’s get you back to bed.”
“I wanna brush my teeth,” she said, yawning.
He waited while she did, and she couldn’t help but smile at him in the mirror when he let out his own yawn, rubbing sleepily at his eyes under his glasses. “I love you,” she said around the toothbrush, and he laughed.
“Even though it’s my fault you’re sick right now?”
“Both of ours, really. Your fault for being so handsome, and my fault for taking full advantage of that,” she said, cheerful again now that the nausea had passed as she bounced back to bed. “Or maybe it’s the baby’s fault.”
“We’ll have to give her a stern talking to,” Kristoff replied, lifting the blankets for her as she clambered in. “Put her in timeout and everything.”
Anna laughed, nestling against his chest the moment he was beside her once more. “You really are convinced it’s a girl, aren’t you?”
“Mmhmm,” he said, kissing the top of her head. “Who’s going to look exactly like you.”
“I don’t know,” she hummed. “I’m kind of hoping for a little boy.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know. I just...sometimes I think about what it’ll be like when they’re here, and I just...I keep imagining how it would feel to look over and see you holding a little boy and think ‘that’s him, that’s our son’.”
Suddenly there was a lump in his throat. “Well...well, I guess that would be okay, too.”
---
Sam was surprisingly misty-eyed when she told him. “Look at you, kiddo,” he kept saying, over and over, and she was half-tempted to get up and walk around his desk to give him a hug around the neck.
Lena, though, was so efficiently business-like that Anna just sat silently in her chair, grateful for Kristoff’s hand in hers. “Do we have a timeline?”
“Yes, November twelfth is--”
“Not that. For when you want to go public. Although that does give us a firm deadline.”
Anna let out a surprised little laugh, but Lena just raised an eyebrow; apparently that hadn’t been a joke. Kristoff squeezed her hand and said, “The sooner the better. Might as well get it over with.”
“Well, if we go ahead and go public now, it’s going to hurt Anna’s engagement numbers and detract from the film’s first trailer coming out next week. If we wait until, say, June, it’ll fall perfectly in the lull between the first and second trailers and give us time to start setting the narrative on track well before the press tours. I’ll see what I can do to make sure anything out of state is done before you’re not allowed to fly. When’s the wedding?”
Anna blinked for a moment, trying to process the rapid-fire stream of information. “Um. We didn’t set a date yet.”
“Hmm,” Lena said with a frown. “Well, let’s try to get on that. People will want to know. Too bad you’re not already married, I’d say release a picture of you in the dress and you’d be on the cover of People. For now, though, just a picture of both of you is enough.”
“We don’t want to do that, though,” Anna said quickly before Kristoff could start to get nervous. “Just let them know that he, you know, exists. I don’t want to make it easier for them to find him.”
“Alright. I’d suggest social media, since your fans feel very close to you and will appreciate hearing it directly. But an interview is always a good default if you want a pro’s help putting it in the best way possible.”
She shifted slightly in her seat. “Um. I’m kind of...out of my depth here. Sam?”
He blinked. “Oh, sorry, I was just-- do you remember the day you wandered into my office for the first time, kiddo, with those roller skates?”
“Of course I do,” she said fondly.
“Anyway. I’d do the interview. Better safe than sorry.”
Lena nodded. “Right. Let me find someone willing to do a feature on you,” she said, diving back in to her laptop.
The rest of them sat in awkward silence for a moment before Kristoff cleared his throat. “So,” he began, “what do I need to do?”
Sam shrugged. “Be on good behavior. Don’t do anything that would embarrass her. Don’t go out in pajamas or get a DUI or anything. If the fans are getting too pushy, help her get out. If paparazzi starts shouting, don’t ever shout back. Even if they say--”
“Done,” Lena announced suddenly. “Tomorrow afternoon downtown. No lunch required, just tea, so no need to worry about getting sick.”
“I haven’t been that sick,” Anna said defensively, and beside her Kristoff coughed.
Sam grinned again. “Look at you, kiddo,” he said again.
“Look at me what, puking?”
“Getting ready to be a mom,” he said, and suddenly she felt a little misty-eyed, too.
---
may
“Jesus!” Anna yelped. “I was dead asleep!”
“Sorry,” Kristoff mumbled as he sat down on the warm spot on the sofa she’d just been evicted from, settling her on his lap and promptly burying his face in her shoulder.
She frowned, carding her fingers through his hair. “I was having a very good dream, I’ll have you know,” she said, though there was no real irritation in her voice. “About puppies, I think.”
“You can go back to sleep,” he said, his voice muffled against her shirt.
“I will when you tell me what’s wrong.”
His arms tightened around her waist. “Give me a minute.”
She hummed her agreement and turned to press a kiss into his hair, relishing the feel of him so close against her, enough that their breathing was slowly syncing up as their chests rose and fell together. Worry was tugging at her, to be sure, about what could have upset him enough to not bother with even a hello, but it helped more than a little to know that he would tell her before long so she could help fix it, instead of letting it linger like an untreated wound in his heart.
“Sorry,” he said again, pulling back with a sigh to rest his forehead against hers. “Just needed a second.”
“‘S’okay, baby. No rush.”
He closed his eyes, moving the hand that wasn’t supporting her back to rest against her still-flat stomach. “At the store...there was stuff in the tabloids. About this.”
“But I...how would anyone know?”
“It said ‘a source from the set of Arendelle’s new movie’.”
“Fuck. I knew people were going to start being suspicious of me being sick all the time. Well, they were going to find out soon enough anyway, weren’t they?” she said, hoping she sounded reassuring despite the pit that had just opened up in her chest.
“It said the baby is Hans’s,” he said bleakly, and a little gasp slipped out from her before she could hold it back.
For a moment they just held each other, letting the news sink in. Anna ran a hand up and down Kristoff’s back, and he sighed, still keeping his forehead pressed against hers. “I’m sorry you had to see that, Kris,” she said quietly.
“I know with...with you being famous and stuff, you’re always going to kind of belong to other people. But the baby...she’s just ours. And I guess it was stupid of me, but I was kind of hoping it would always be like that. That the whole time people knew about her, they would know the truth.”
“About him,” Anna said, and he huffed out a laugh. “Sorry, too soon to be teasing you?”
“No. It helps. You’re definitely wrong, though. I’m certain of it.”
She laughed then, too, and kissed him. “The interview will be out soon. And then everyone will know it’s been you all along, and that it’s your son in there.”
“Daughter. And...okay. If you’re sure.”
“Yeah. I’m ready for this part to be over. I know it’s gonna be hard on you, and I’m sorry you’ll have to deal with the bullshit, but...damn, it’s been hard keeping you a secret. I just want to parade you around town and be like ‘hey guys, guess who got lucky and convinced the hottest guy in the world to marry her?’” “Now you’re just being corny to cheer me up. Literally last night you called me Grandpa again when I put my glasses on.”
“Yeah, but you’re a sexy grandpa. Which is how we ended up in this mess in the first place.”
“Not a mess. Just an...unexpected journey.”
Anna grinned and kissed the tip of his nose. “Is that your way of asking me if we can have a Lord of the Rings marathon tonight to cheer you up?”
“You know me too well. And yes.”
“Did you get popcorn?”
“Mhmm. Think you can keep it down?”
“Nope,” she said cheerfully. “Good thing I have a fiance to hold my hair back, eh?”
---
“Wait!”
Everyone turned and looked at Anna as she dug through her purse. “I want to take a picture of this,” she explained. “So I can remember the face he makes.”
Kristoff raised an eyebrow, one hand still in the gift bag. “Should I be nervous?”
“No, just--” She grinned and held up her phone. “You’ll see.”
“Can I open it now?”
She nodded, bouncing on the balls of her feet with excitement. “Happy birthday, Kris.”
He reached into the bag and pulled out a square of fabric; he let it fall open and, after reading what was on the front of the t-shirt, looked at Anna with a mixture of shock and amusement.
Ellie squinted at it from the far end of the table. “Best dad ever? Why does it say that? I don’t get it.”
And then she did get it all at once, her eyes going wide as she clapped a hand over her mouth. “Oh!”
Kristoff’s mother was already weeping and throwing her arms over his shoulders, and his brothers looked awkward but pleased all the same as they clapped him on the back, and Ellie was already squealing and tugging on her sister’s hand and spouting off something about names, and beside Anna Kristoff’s father smiled and set a hand on her shoulder.
“Congratulations,” he said, his eyes kind and full of warmth, and suddenly she was wishing her own father was here, wondering what he would have said, how broadly he would have smiled.
“Thank you, Mr. Bjorgman,” she said, and when he saw her lip start to wobble he pulled her into a tight hug.
“You can call me Cliff, you know,” he said softly. “Or whatever else you’d like. Shoot, might as well go ahead and help me get some practice in, start calling me Grandpa if you want.”
She laughed at that. “Cliff for now, I think.”
“Fine with me,” he said, gently patting her back. “I hope you know we’re here to help both of you with whatever you need. And that you’re welcome up here anytime, with or without him. Don’t even have to call ahead, just come right in the back door and tell me you want pickles or something, whatever it is. Don’t have much experience in this department of parenting, but I’ll try my best.”
“Thank you,” she said, holding on tighter for just a moment before pulling away to face the rest of them.
lena had a copy mailed to the house
He squinted at the photo she had texted him, scrolling through the full-page article dedicated to Anna’s rapid rise to fame. He couldn’t help but grin at the mentions of her tampon commercial and unexpected viral fame; she had to have been irritated at that being brought up again. There were photos of her in that blue gown, too, the one she’d worn for the Netflix movie and been so excited to show him. And then there, at the end, was the all-important “what are you doing now” section, the one she had rehearsed with him over and over the night before the interview.
“What’s next for you, Anna?” I ask, and she gives me a bright smile as she sets down her cup of (herbal) tea.
“Well, I’m going to wrap up filming for the sequel, of course, but then I’m going to take a step back from the spotlight for a little bit to focus on my family.”
“Your sister?”
“My fiance Kristoff, actually, and our first baby. We’re really excited,” she adds with her trademark bright smile, and I can’t help but smile back at her.
He grinned and closed the picture so he could type back a response, but before he’d even started a phone call came through. He frowned; it was just a number, no name, but it looked familiar somehow. “Hello?” he asked, expecting it to be a telemarketer.
“Kristoff? It’s Sam.”
“What’s up?”
“I, uh, I don’t know if you saw yet, but just...don’t panic.”
Hectic First Meetings
OOPS guess who wrote 2,000 words! I didn’t even mean to go that long or anything. The pacing might be a little off but I never said I was a good writer!
Day 6: First Meetings
---
“So, wait. Run it by me again? I’m gonna meet everyone at once for..?” “So they can know you. I won’t be surprised if the Administrator has you sitting down between deliveries. And, of recent, you’ve been doing more forgery. She thinks it’d be good for you to know the others in case you spend an increased amount of time at the base.” “Right.” Messenger nodded, “Makes sense.” It, in fact, did not make sense to him. “Also, I apologize but once I drop you off you’re going to be on your own for the rest of the day. They’re a nice group though, don’t worry.” “Oh, this’ll be so much fun.” Messenger was silent the rest of the ride, face turned to stare out the window. He only spoke again to softly thank the driver, getting out with Ms. Pauling, carrying a small briefcase of personal items. “So, there’s 9 mercs,” Pauling explained to Messenger as he opened the door for her, letting her walk in first. “Don’t worry about learning names the first day. Just look at the shoulder emblems if you need too.” she looked up to see Scout already by the front. “Hello Scout.” she gave him a quick smile. “Hey, can you show Messenger around? He’s the new guy I was talking about. I need to go, goodbye! Messenger, I’ll be in touch.” she waved, walking out of the building. “Wow, that’s as fast as my parents kicked me out.” Messenger laughed, looking at Scout. “Uh-howdy? She already told you who I am but, hi. Call me Messenger.” he held his hand out, and Scout shook it quickly. “Man, you’re short! Engie’ll get a kick outta that. Sure you ain’t a kid?”
“I should ask you that. What’re you? The CEO of baby face?” Messenger smirked, as Scout dropped the handshake. “Watch it, newbie.” “Sore subject?” Messenger asked, handing the suitcase to his other hand. Ms. Pauling had said he’d get his own little room, but he had a feeling he wouldn’t be seeing it anytime soon. “Sorry.” “It’s fine. Already in the past. You actually brought stuff? Well, if you keep up I’ll show you that room Pauling has us finally using.” Scout was off like that, and Messenger had to speed walk to catch up. “Slow down?” Messenger asked as he trailed behind him. Scout did not do that. He did eventually stop in front of a door. “Get longer legs, short stuff.” Scout was smirking, entirely too happy with that insult. “Anyway, there ain’t time for you to just sit around ‘n do whatever you do. Put your stuff down, so I can just get the introductions done an’ over with.” Messenger rolled his eyes, opening the door. The room was small. It had a bed, a closet, one lone little window, and a desk. “Well, you know. I’ve been in worse. Also, Scout, are you from Boston or somethin’? You got the Boston accent. I’m from Maine.” he plopped the suitcase down on the desk. “Proudly born and raised.” Scout was smug about that. “You don’t got a Mainer accent,” he said, looking at Messenger. “You know, I’ve never really heard anyone with the whole, ‘Mainer accent’” he waved a hand, “but also I have? Weird whatever. I dunno. Maybe I’m just used to it.” “It’s kinda nice to have someone closer to home. The other guys are from all over. You’d be a few hour drive away.” “Yea I guess. Especially if you’re drivin’! Boston drivers don’t care. Hell, any Massachusetts driver don’t care.” that earned a chuckle from Scout. “Yeah. You shoulda seen my Ma drivin’. She was the best as gettin’ through the Boston traffic when we had the car.” Messenger nodded, following next to Scout as he talked. Jokes aside, he seemed like a cool person. Very talkative. Which, he found nice. He could be friends with someone else who couldn’t shut up. “The rest of the team should be here. It’s the hangout spot between rounds ‘n all that. Hey guys! I got that new guy Ms. Pauling told us about.” Scout clapped a hand onto Messenger’s shoulders, as Messenger looked at the others. A quick scan left him to recount. “Scout, isn’t there 9 of you guys?” “Eh? Spy’s probably off in his smoking’ room. He don’t matter anyway.” “There’s a smok-” Scout shoved him forward, making Messenger stumble on his feet. “We don’t got time for questions. Introduction time!” The introductions were something else to say the least. Too many names to keep a track of. Scout, however, was right. The man who introduced himself as The Engineer did have a small smile on his face seeing how short he was. “And I thought I got the short end o’ the stick.” Messenger had to tell him the boots gave him an extra two inches because, at that rate, being the shortest out of all them seemed like it was going to be brought up a lot. There was another man -- he smelled of alcohol -- who called him Shortstack. Messenger barely caught half the words out of his mouth, but he assumed he’d get the accent down with time. There were other members who didn’t talk as much. Heavy was very curt. A hello and his name, and that was it. The Sniper barely gave him a hello. There was also the Medic. When Messenger shook his hand, he had to make the joke. “Medic huh? Would you do top surgery? I can’t offer much of anythin’ but I can fake a legal document if you need any.” the Medic’s grip had tightened at the mention of surgery, and he gave Messenger a big smile. “If you are offering, I will find payment don’t you worry.” Messenger wasn’t sure what to make of that. “But, if you are seriously asking, I can! I did Scout’s way back when I joined the team.” Scout nodded as Messenger looked at him. “The Doc did a fantastic job.” Messenger nodded. “Well, if Scout says you did a good job, he can’t be lying. I’ll keep you in mind Medic.” He’d seemed pleased with that and gave Messenger a nod as he released his hand. After the wave of introductions, Messenger stuck close to Scout. “Well,” Messenger said, looking to him. “You said Spy? Can you like, tell me anything about him or should I just not bother?” “Don’t bother. He’s probably listening in like the creepy fuck he is.” “Alright.” “Scout, I see you are once again making me sound worse than I am.” there was a new voice, and Messenger heard Scout groan. “What’d I tell you?” there was another man. He wore a neat suit, and there was some fancy smelling cologne lingering in the air. He was ignoring Scout. “You must be Messenger, Ms. Pauling said you’d be here.” he held out his hand and Messenger shook it. “And you must be French.” Messenger just said it, he didn’t even think. “My family spoke it, but man, you have the accent an’ all.” Spy let go of his hand after that. “Perceptive,” he said, obviously unenthused with Messenger’s direct comment. “Ah, I’m sorry if I made you upset?” he couldn’t read Spy’s face, the mask hid it, and he was good at hiding his body movements. Although, Messenger wasn’t surprised at that. To be a spy he had too. “I don’t think when I say things half the time.” he rubbed his left arm. “Forgive me?” he asked, flashing Spy a smile. “Don’t wanna get off of the wrong foot or anything.” A funny thing to say, seeing what the future held. Messenger wouldn’t be as kind to Spy as he was now. “I suppose I can let it pass. Just this once.” “Sweet! Thanks.” *** It was later at night. Messenger sat on the arm of a couch, holding a drink between his legs. Demo was to his right, telling him a story as the others talked. Messenger smiled at the story. It was something about him blowing up the other team with his bombs. “I won us the match ‘cause of that!” he yelled it excitedly, only for someone to jump in and say he always tells that story. Don’t let him make you think that’s every fight! Messenger sipped from his drink. “Well, I think that’s pretty sweet. Do you make your own bombs? Is it hard?” “Not at all, 3 ingredients and you got yaself a bomb that’ll blow up a body clean.” Messenger nodded, listening intently. He, of course, had no plans on making a bomb but Demo seemed to be very interested in telling him. “What about you, Messenger? What’s a guy like you do? Other than climb up counters to reach anythin’ like yer some kinda little creature.” “I’ll have you know I’ve only climbed a few counters, thank you!” he laughed at the joke nonetheless. “It’s all in my name, no? I deliver things, I intercept delivered things, I can forge just about anything that needs to be written or typed. I’m pretty good with a knife too.” “Are ya? Spy’s good with ‘em too. You think you could take him?” “Oh! Uh, no? Probably not.” “Don’t sell yerself short.” Demo clapped Messenger’s back, “I bet ya could get that backstabber.” “I’m flattered?” Messenger chuckled, taking another sip from his bottle. “That’s probably one of the nicer things someone’s said to me.” Messenger spent a good chunk of time listening to Demo. It was still a little hard for him to catch everything he said, but he had the feeling Demo would be a good drinking buddy. *** By the time Messenger wiggled away from the remaining mercs, he was drained. He didn’t expect anything to really go on after the introductions but boy was he wrong! His social battery was drained, and all he wanted to do was promptly pass out. Despite that, he walked outside to get some fresh air before he hit the sack. Messenger did a double-take as he saw someone else outside. “Sniper?” he guessed, grabbing the person’s attention. “You all done drinking with the party?” “Oh! You speak? I thought you were the stoic one of the group?” Messenger smiled, joking. “I don’t find the need to talk when half of the lot is doin’ it for me.” “Do you ever loosen up?” Messenger asked, “It won’t hurt you know.” “What? I am loose.” Messenger laughed. “No way! You’re actin’ like there’s a stick shoved so far up your ass it’s making you stand straight.” “Listen here kid,” Sniper couldn’t help the smile on his face. It was uncharacteristic of him, but maybe it was just because Messenger was the first new face in a while. “I gotta be the cool one, how else will I do a good job sniping huh?” “By just doing yer job? And don’t call me kid! I’ve heard enough short jokes to last me 2 lifetimes I don’t need any more baby jokes. And you’re probably not that much older than me. You’re like, what, 29? You’re a few years ahead of me then.” “You’re a baby,” Sniper said again, earning a groan from Messenger. “Am not! I’ll show you baby when yer the one crying!” “Oh, real scary. It’s a little hard to take you seriously when you’re that much shorter than I am.” “All the more for me to kick you in the shins!” Messenger shot back, feigning a kick to Sniper’s shins, who let out a breathy laugh. “You got spunk Messenger. Don’t let anyone take that from ya. It could come in handy. You oughta head back in. Get some sleep. Mornings here are...somethin’ else. Half the reason I sleep in my van. If you aren’t a mornin’ person it’ll be worse. Don’t kill Soldier jus’ because he wants you up early.” “Oh, that won’t be an issue, I’m a heavy sleeper.” “They all say that. Night Messenger.” Sniper walked towards his van, and Messenger turned to go back into the base. Sniper waited to see Messenger go into the base before he climbed into the van. When Messenger found his room again, he walked in and promptly fell onto his bed passing out. It had been quite a day.
