Teaching kids about transness won't make them trans, and in my case it did the opposite. It took me 17 years to figure it our because my parents were so chill about gender roles and queerness that everytime I would have a thought that shouldve been telling, my dad would pop up in my head like "men can look like anything and women can look like anything, and nonbinary people can look like anything. And you can be whoever you are and we love you regardless." And I was like "oh sick, a masculine woman who looks like a goblin and enjoys being called sir, that's me". And I also had nearly no dysohoria because of that also.

So I hope someone out there can benefit from my dad's words of wisdom that accidentally held me hostage in the closet for years
