i think my headcanon of margo’s social awkwardness when it comes to interacting with people irl and my hc of Miles G being seen as a personification of “talking to a brick wall” by people can work pretty well together in this scenario: Margo copies G’s braids on her actual hair in an attempt to befriend him/get closer because of something she read online about making friends (because of my hc). G is like “oh cool” in a casual way, but inside he’s very flattered and happy that Margo thought it was cool/good looking enough to try on her own ACTUAL hair (realizes the importance basically). Margo can’t see the emotion, but is glad it was treated as a normal thing and not a social fuckup, because she ends up liking the hairstyle and keeps it for a while, even on her avatar.

Now I also think Miles realizes how he comes off as if he doesn’t care (because cmon he must be getting told this constantly, which i’ll elaborate on in a diff post), and kind of wants to show Margo that he appreciated that/wants to bond over this, so one day he gets his hair done in a style she likes to wear. This makes Margo overjoyed, both because Miles is doing something she knows how to handle bc she studied it, and because she’s actually bonding with a person irl and hopefully becoming friends, etc. Also because she thinks it looks nice on him, and she realizes that this is Miles’s way of showing emotion(?) or something like that. do you get what im saying

Hey buddies!

What's up with Mollie in Chapter 1?

There's a couple different things I wanna cover, so bear with me as I ramble on a little bit to figure out where to start. Like, I've got something I haven't seen others mention, a few theories tied to it, and other speculation. So I guess I should start with that appearance?

Also note: I'm not going to be going over the mascots as a whole here. They definitely need something all to themselves, so maybe I'll ramble about that some other time.

And just so we don't get too long and clog anyone's dash~💜✨

So! A Mollie thing I haven't seen anyone else talk about!

Well, the other day I saw this post, and as you can see by my tags (under the little "info" tab at the top) I was planning on playing again to see it for myself. I can confirm that exists, and I'll get back around to that in a little bit.

Having played through the game a few times, I've been slowly getting accustomed to the sound of Mollie's voice and I've been trying to make out the words she says. So imagine my surprise when I heard her in the section before where I thought she first appeared in the queue to Rambley's Railroad! You can hear her very faintly in the background repeating the words "set up" after Rambley directs you to the gift shop for your Critter Cuff. (Can be heard here. I've linked to Rambley's last line so you can hear how she mimics it.)

To me, this sorta brings into question how long Mollie was watching Ed. I mean, before it seemed like she happened to be in the railroad's area and was sneakily watching you after you stumbled into the area she was occupying, but now? Now we know she was outside in that starting area. Granted, she sounds kind of distant unlike when we hear her "Closed for repairs" after Rambley and Finley's interaction, but that doesn't mean too much because the little "Hey buddy" she lets out in Lloyd's Mane Stage when she leans around the door to storage. (As demonstrated in the video I linked, you can turn on your way to storage and see her right away once you hear her.)

Now that I've written all those mimicry bits down, it feels a little weird that she mimics only Rambley, especially given she's not directly repeating him when she appears at the end of the hallway in the Mane Stage. Rambley does say it in that area, but it's not in that same call and response manner like the other two. Something to think about.

With all this in mind, I think it's plausible that Mollie could have seen Ed before the first encounter in Rambley's Railroad.

How soon does Mollie know Ed's there?

This is more speculation on my part, as the earliest I can definitively say is the Critter Cuff mimicry being around when she likely notices him. That being said, we do have a gear that falls at a suspicious timing.

That being said, if you've seen David Baron's video on his beta test footage, you'll notice the gear was already there from the start. He makes the suggestion that the gear be out of the way and fall from somewhere above when it's needed so it doesn't confuse the player. It could be argued that that's all that is, but I'd like to point out the whole suggestion was for the gear to fall when Rambley tried and failed to open the door, thus causing the building to shake due to failing equipment just enough for the gear to fall. The timing we see in the final game does not match that. (Whole video can be found here.)

I think it's not out of the realm of possibility that Mollie could have known about Ed's presence the whole time, and could be the reason the gear falls in the first place. It's suspicious enough timing, and I'm not sure what Rambley himself could do to make it fall unless you want to argue something about having a mechanism up there, but this is a pretty specific situation he'd have machinery to deal with considering there's not supposed to be a hole in the ceiling there to begin with.

What Mollie's motivation for helping would be... I'm less sure about that. Especially as it related to my next point.

Did Mollie sabotage the mechanisms we needed to fix?

This is in reference to the Indigo Violet Generator from getting in the front gate, and the machine backstage that we needed to fix in lieu of getting an introduction to Salem. Before realizing Mollie was in the beginning area, only one of them was anywhere near her, so pulling any lines to correlate her and them just didn't make sense. With her being heard in that first area now though...

I think it's possible that she could've been the cause of the gears being out of place. She's present in and around where both are and we don't see any others like it in the chapter.

It's especially interesting because one is in the backstage area for Rambley's Railroad, where we see her pop in and out of while we're on the ride. One could even argue that she could have sabotaged that area while we were already on the ride, though that's between hard and impossible to prove at this point in time.

What makes Mollie aggressive?

While not exactly tying into my previous points perfectly well, I do think the fact that she's so passive and just follows you around until the very end is strange. When she shows up in Lloyd's part of the train ride, Mollie is quite literally within grabbing range of you. If she wished you ill will, surely she could have done something then?

If you want to argue that Rambley was right there at that point, might I raise her appearance in the Mane Stage. As far as we're aware, Rambley might not have been able to see her there, so there's no reason for her to hold back. Lloyd was fended off with a high pitched noise from the Critter Cuff, but it's long stopped doing that by the time you potentially see her after you leave, and that's only if you see her after you leave.

Mollie doesn't get aggressive until you're far into her area, and about to head further in. It's only then that she properly gets in your way with the intent to rip Ed's throat out. So is there something in there?

(It can be argued that Lloyd is similar. Even when it'd potentially be easier for him to attack, he moves away. That's a post for another day though.)

Beyond any narrative design decisions for how to get the player to Oceanic Odyssey after getting spooked by a lurking threat; I have to wonder if there's an in-universe reason for why Mollie stalks along so passively before turning into a threat in that spot.

Is there something beyond the door she came through that is important to her? Is she trying to protect something? Is that just an area she considered private/safe/hers so this is something territorial? Is there something she wants to protect? Is there someone?

The last one is unlikely, but it's interesting to think about, if nothing else.

Final Thoughts 💜

While this isn't an exhaustive list of everything about Mollie, I feel this is a solid base for discussion or to at least think about. I mean, I barely touched on her mimicry as a whole. There's a whole box of interesting lines with all sorts of interesting implications! Unfortunately, I don't really know how to dig through game files to find them all and listen to them on loop until I understand them, so I'm stuck trying to understand them over the loud - but absolutely a banger - chase music.

All in all, I hope I gave you all something to think about!

Favorite Games of 2023 Part Final: Pokemon Crystal Clear Clown Edition

Pokemon Crystal Clear is a romhack for the Gameboy Color game that mainly advertises itself as Pokemon Crystal modified so now it is entirely playable as a free roaming open world. Clown Edition is just what I called the rom of the game after creating and injecting a pokemon trainer sprite sheet into the game so I can play as my own character, Clown. I played the whole game on my New 3ds XL, it took a quite a bit of effort to get this exact version of the game working on my 3ds. It was incredibly worth it, this is not just my favorite game, but favorite 'game experience', and even easily my new pick for all time favorite pokemon game in the series.

The game itself was fun and a refreshing new way to experience a pokemon game but the overall experience of getting the game working on a hacked 3ds and playing with my own created sprites was in itself a very fun bit of hobby work. It has revived my love for playing older games on real hardware, something that I have found myself continuing to do this year. Also, seeing my own art in the game and said art feel cohesive with the world ruled and I want to experience that more in some other way. This game made me more into pokemon than I have felt with official releases in a pretty long while, and I even liked my time playing Scarlet. I loved playing on a handheld, I loved seeing the really well made art from gen 2, and I loved being able to put a bit of myself into the game as well.

Apologies for how rambley this gets, I really liked the game but still somehow found it hard to really organize my thoughts on why exactly.

I wanted to revisit this hack after briefly trying it in 2018 because of this excellent Hazel video (https://youtu.be/96YimpRHQHs). The video details various life stories while talking about favorite locations in the games getting me to think about my own favorite spots in the games and where I was personally at the time. The video also got me to start realizing that Porygon might be one of my favorite pokemon in the series and caused me to make drawings of them that I'm still quite fond of. This then made me recall Crystal Clear which contains a feature of surprisingly deep character customization including a wide selection of possible starter picks one of which being Porygon. So, compelled by the allure of having a fun adventure with a cyber duck, I picked up my hacked 3ds and started the game again.

Crystal Clear is a game that allowed for me to be even more creative about how to approach building my team and creating my own adventure out of playing pokemon. It's not for everyone, it wasn't even for me the first time I tried this game back in 2018. Crystal Clear definitely lends itself much more to the idea of creating your own fun than typical linear pokemon games where if you're not interested in that more free form exploration, the game would feel aimless. I even felt this when starting this playthrough, but the goal of pokedex completion was what encouraged to explore and discover Crystal Clear's world. The game was always surprising me in both the number of quality of life features it provided as well as fun new areas to explore or to better make the world more connected. Over time, the game felt more at home to me from getting more familiar with locations and developing a new sense of fondness for several towns in Johto I frequented. The change from a linear progression to that open ended one gave me a better sense of the world and towns had a bit more life to them as places felt more inviting to hang around in.

I love this game's implementation of the pokedex. It has been designed so it will display just about every piece of information about a pokemon, where to find them, when they evolve, what moves they learn, and so on. While the presentation is definitely clunky due to having to have all of that information on a GBC screen, I found this such an invaluable tool to have in game that for the first time in the entire pokemon series I was heavily making use of the in game pokedex for its intended purpose. Being able to look up relevant information for pokemon all entirely in game without having to have a phone/computer nearby with bulbapedia open all the time is just greatly appreciated. While the desire to keep some mystery around pokemon and how they evolve or what moves they'll learn can be part of the fun with the series, I think I just prefer being able to tell quickly if this is a stone evolution pokemon or not.

This was the first time I ever completed a pokedex in any pokemon game, something I've always wanted to do but never fully committed to the whole process. This is because of my own laziness toward how challenging that always was in proper releases due to so many pokemon being obscured behind multiple games and others being locked behind real world timed events. That or the fact that later games in the series just outright make the the act of getting a truly complete pokedex feel almost impossible. Instead, I finally accomplished a completed pokedex in a romhack that was made to make that sort of challenge feel reasonable with modified drop pools and changed events so everything within that one game is catchable. While now possible, I still found myself challenged with a game world spanning adventure of looking behind every rock, tree, and patch of grass to find every funny little guy I could. One particular memory was me spending maybe a week insisting on finding a dragonite in an encounter to catch which has a 1% chance of happening rather than spending the time leveling and evolving one instead. A very, very long process of hitting a tree over and over but made hilarious when later repeating the process for a tyranitar, another 1% chance encounter rate, was done in minutes. It was really fun having a plan ahead with how I was going to get every pokemon, constantly using expshare and other things to level guys to get them to evolve while try catching other guys. The ultimate reward of that certificate is still a pretty hilariously small, though I still kind of want to figure out a way to print mine out.

What made this game so special to me was simply just adding Clown to it. A simple change that was a surprisingly complicated process of getting a crash course on how GBC color palettes and size limitations worked and getting my hacked 3ds up to date on its software. Creating the various Clown sprite drawings was fun, I always liked working in those sorts of strict limitations. Then finally getting the injection to work and seeing my own art in game on real hardware felt surreal, something in this handheld game console I've had forever, on a game I loved for years has something I made in it. Even the process of getting all of this working, as tedious as it was moving game saves and getting color values just right, made this whole experience more special to me.

Something I figured while playing this as well as also from now having also played Dragon Warrior 1+2 and also currently Final Fantasy 5, I really love playing things on a handheld. Playing games on a handheld device has been so much more compelling of a thing to me than ever than playing on a proper TV/computer. The aspect of being able to just let the console sit on my desk and simply open and close it when interested made the feeling of investing myself into a game so much easier to approach. I want to just keep playing more old games on a handheld now, I'm already planning on other games to play and how I should definitely hack my Vita. My friends keep tempting me with one of those emulator handhelds and I don't even need one but they look really cool though.

I have so much respect for people who make fan works, hacks, and other unofficial projects it has been just amazing to see passion projects happen all the time in the gaming community. Playing this romhack that's been a years long, ongoing project in two different eras (2018 and then again in 2023) of it's existence has only further cemented my admiration. People wanting to be creative and open about their love for this form of art is such a wonderful thing to behold. These moments of creative passion being shared to everyone feels so important, reminding that the projects with the biggest budgets and names are not the end all be all of the medium, despite their desperation to be so. Thank you so much for wanting to share such lovely things with the world.

Indigo Park With A Twist

Part 1 - The Memory Of Good Times

Summery: The Park was shut down for some reasons and our group taken in by the police for some 'investigation'.

Warning: First of all, my plot and lore are gonna be a bit different from the real deal. Because one, we don't know the full story and lore. And two, I wanna try something. Will be nice.

Rambley and other mascots are real. In their cartoon looks but mixed with reality.

Rambley has electricity powers for lore reasons. (Probably thanks to a chip and improved biology) He can get in and go through electronic objects and can control them when he is in it.

And the reason why Rambley might be a bit out of character is because of the difference of the lore and the events he lived through.

The Memory Of Good Times

“Is the…” Woman’s face crunched as she held her tongue from saying something that could ruin her reputation, “…animal inside?”

One of the cops nodded, “Yes, ma’am. Have you—”

She stopped him, ”Good. I already talked to the Park’s manager. Open the door. I’m going to have a little chat with each one of them.”

The young cop quickly nodded and slid a card next to the door, he quickly opened the metal door for the woman.

Women's heels were clicking under her as she walked inside. The corridor was lit up with bright lights. Her stiff form never once wavered, even when they opened the final door for her. Her expression never once changed when she saw the racoon. Indeed he was not an ordinary one. He was Rambley. Rambley the racoon himself. Sitting alone, a bit frightening over the chair at the end of the room.

The moment he heard the door click open, his eyes widened and quickly peeled towards the woman’s serious figure. She appears to be in her forties. Even though her professional expression never wavered she let out what seems to be a surprised hum, or it sounded more like an acknowledgement to Rambley. She quickly fixed her spotless uniform.

In stress he held his tail tightly and swallowed. He knew she was only going to ask questions but the fear still remains, even though they promised not to hurt them. And maybe he should be right to stay afraid.

The moment the woman cleared her throat he noticed he zoned out for a second which he quickly got himself together to listen.

”Ramble. I—“

He sheepishly and miserably tried to correct her, his voice wavering when she gave a look. He nodded apologizing, as he felt even smaller. The woman seemed to not be even surprised that he could talk fluently like all the other cops that talked to him.

”As I was saying… Rambley. We both know about the… incident, which caused the park to evacuate and close…” Rambley didn’t even react to that, he just went blank. He knew if he let on, they would understand.

”…But, what I am going to ask you about has nothing to do with it.”

Now that confuses him a lot. For the first time he looked right into the woman's eyes.

Seeing the raccoon's confusion she continued. “I wanna learn more about Kayla Allen. A former employee, a technician, a maintainer, previously working with you.”

The woman noticed how the racoon’s ears perked up with the given name.

”Kayla, but- but she has nothing to do with any of this!” Now Rambley was even confused and a bit more panicked.

”Now, what I think is that, that’s what you want me to believe. You might have told the truth but you never explain the whole thing, have you? There were always blank spots. And I want the whole truth.”

Rambley’s face was blank once again, only showing one emotion, resentment. He didn’t feel as afraid as he was moments ago, “Haven’t you guys already have what you want? Why bother with this all of a sudden now?”

Woman huffed out, it sounded like she let out either a scoff or a sarcastic laugh, which made him frown.

”I’m an Investigative journalist and my dad is the head of this place, so, what do you think?”

Rambley was more than confused and upset.

“…So you are like a… Columnist?” With a big ego for sure. Rambley couldn’t help but joke internally. He knew she would have his head if he let that one out.

“No. It’s much different but I’m not gonna argue this with you.” Her expression definitely changed to something worse when he pointed it out. Hit a sore spot?

”Okay.” He muttered.

”Trying to distract us from the topic never would make it vanish away, trash panda.” She hissed.

Ah there the annoying nickname comes. He was wondering when it would come out. But he was kind of surprised. I mean, yeah the woman is extremely annoying but he never thought she would be the type to call nicknames to pick on people. Not as professional as she seems to let on. Well, he shouldn’t have been surprised. He didn’t need to see her childhood to know she was quite spoiled. 

Only his room didn’t have electrical materials in it, like cameras. How does he know? He might ramble on about it a lot of the time but he always knows when to not let out something. But he sure knows how to make people talk when he wants to. Besides he felt there was nothing here the moment he came and it was obvious there are no cams here. Easy. He didn’t even have to ask most of the time.

Why there isn’t any. The park’s manager must have told them that he had a talent that helped him jump into them to move. Oh, how he wished Mr. Indigo was still present. He would never use it though, not without his friends at least. He groaned so loudly in his head. And LLOYD. As much as he doesn't want to, he won’t leave him to his death either. 

The woman didn’t have to act. There are more cops guarding his doors for the loss of the cameras. They were still afraid he would do something inside the room now that they can’t see, he guessed he could never talk them out of all those measures. He sarcastically spoke. Well, he can and will still be optimistic about all this!

He never showed any emotions since her little talk. Years of working as an entertainer has its magic. Like how to control his expressions.

He tilted his head, searching for any expression over the woman’s face also. They both silently sat and waited for a few seconds, challengingly. She was leaning back over her seat one leg over the other, her hands clasped over her lap. Rambley had no issue sitting silent and waiting. He did that for 8 years, he could do that for a few hours too. So, he sat, bored, he never moved since she walked in only leaving his tail to its place the moment the talk got annoying.

“I’m not leaving.” If he doesn't talk that is… She is not even trying to threaten him.

Rambley smirked, “Well, neither can I! But mine never was a choice.”

She squeezed her eyes and looked down at him with a curled of her lips, “Well, I can certainly help you with that.” Now that caught the racoon’s interest and she knew it.

She leaned over her elbows, ”If you give me what I want I can guarantee you and your friends safety.” Now that was certainly a change of news. He heard threats but never a hopeful offer. To be honest he didn’t want to lose hope but the light seemed so far away, but today? It felt so close he felt like he could reach it with his hand. How long was he and his friends in quarantine? A few months? A year? He never thought he would lose his sense of time with the humans! He thought he would lose it back in the park years ago! The silence and loneliness was driving him insane but now? He never thought he would kinda miss it.

He thought what she said through, ”Will that include our peace? Our safe shelter away? Guarantee that we will not be disturbed, experimented with?”

She leaned back casually, “Now that is too much to ask for, seeing you haven’t even given me the simplest task I ask of you. If you want something you give something for it first.”

Rambley stuttered his words but stopped himself, he then sighed, “If I told you, do you really guarantee we will be free?”

“Now that is a different story. If you want your freedom you have to give more.” Seeing Rambley’s disturbed and upset expression she continued, “You need to give me credit for it. It's going to need more than just a talk with my father for this to be solved, you know. Might be even impossible. There is a limit to the things I could do.”

Rambley’s ears dropped, but before he could say anything the woman muttered in fake thought.

”Hmm, but not hopeless.”

Rambley thought about this, but before he really could decide on anything he looked up at her smirking face. ”What do you want then? In exchange for our freedom, what do you want from me, from us?”

“Hmm…” she thought about it. “How about… a sweet favor.”

”A favor?” Rambley muttered.

“A favor. Think of it like a free indefinite ticket to a theme park. I can use it once whenever I want. So… Do we have a deal? Make it quick, my time is expensive!”

Rambley played with his finger as he really thought this through hard and long. Every possibility, that she might be tricking him into believing her false hopes just so he could taste the sweet freedom then a backstab. No he can’t handle that… But even if don’t want to admit it, all his escape attempts failed terribly. There is no escape here. And he knew it would get even worse and bigger… when the scientists come and they start the experiments. That is something he can’t endure all his life, killing him is a better choice!

He finally sighed, deciding on his choice. “You want the whole story? Fine."

ive been playing stp for a few hours now. but i’ll say my thoughts here…

holy shit its so good! i love it its fucking great. i think i managed to get some of the new update things but since i held back on playing before the pristine cut came out i wouldnt actually know. i have a guess considering how rare certain achievements are, though…

listing more specific, very rambley, VERY SPOILERY thoughts on the paths ive gone under the cut. do not click if you dont want to be spoiled I know what you are.

so, the endings i’ve gotten! so far:

The Cage - the part of being trapped in chains is a fucking nightmare scenario for me so kinda funny that i got it for my first one. the whole thing of “we can’t control where the story goes” being shown in both our character’s heads being cut off and having the bodies fight was. wow. i didnt say anything to convince her that she was wrong about the lack of free will, though maybe i should have. or maybe i should’ve picked up her head. too late now though… the image of her body walking towards us holding her head in a cage is SO fucking good.

Happily Ever After - hwat the fuck! fuck! ow? so i mean, i got to see a bit of narrator’s “happy” ending even though i let skeptic kill me in the end. so then getting that sort of ending, again, but having the narrator realize that it’s a horrible ending to have, and sounding so broken about it, and that last line from the narrator too…i miss this narrator. he’s the only one so far who’s realized that eternal, stagnant happiness isn’t a happy ending.

and the shadow behind her - smitten i assume - even though she isn’t literally chained this time, the shadow still holds her there - he kinda acts like the narrator does when you get the “happy” ending. does that make sense. this false happiness becoming her new chains - what the fuck. what the fuck!

and i mean, im the one who said we should stay in the cabin the chapter before (though i wasnt the one to rip my chest open Smitten CHILL) because i didn’t want her to leave. but at least we got to dance with her. at least she really was happy dancing under the stars before it ended. this is probably my favorite ending so far.

Mutally Assured Destruction - this one was so good. hearing all the different voices talking at once, them all coming up with their own ideas, and all of them failing until, in the end, we silence them all and having one final fight, with the princess and us stabbing each other, just like it was in the first chapter - fucking cool as hell.

of course!! All under the cut and stuff, all of this is just bits and pieces of stuff because there’s not a super clear like outline of events and stuff but here’s some basic thoughts and ideas and stuff lol. Uh warning its very long, very rambley and kind of just jumps from one thought to another sorry 😭

Okay so basically this isn’t a very nice au to Steven sadly (I do it out of love for the character 💗💗), when I first got back into Steven universe I kept rewatching the diamond days episodes and I really enjoyed them. So basically this au is called diamond years, where Steven ends up staying for a very long time (about I wanna say year and a half) on home world pretending to be pink diamond so that he can change the diamonds ways.

This takes a while though, he’s failed again and again at trying to talk to white, so end he focuses on trying to change blue and yellow’s minds first, on not hurting defenceless planets and trying to stand up to white (they never take him up on standing up to white until about the last year). At first he is completely put off and ignored just like in the show but the longer he stays there the more they begin to listen to him. But despite how well Steven is doing at changing homeworld from the inside, it’s been taking a toll on him.

He finds himself questioning his identity more than ever before, and it really stresses him out. He also feels bad for bringing the gems into this plan with him, he feels like he’s forced them back into their homeworld lives and it makes him feel horribly guilty a lot of the time. In my head it’s like all of this fighting in the rebellion just to end back up here serving diamonds and it sort of starts to make Steven feel like a disgusting person. Like pearl doesn’t belong to him and amethyst shouldn’t have to wear limb inhancers but like whenever he like debates it with blue or yellow they chastise him.

I think eventually he’s permitted to go visit beach city, as a gift for his good behaviour since he came back and it makes him so happy that he finally gets to be Steven again, but whenever he’s there the moments are sort of bittersweet because he knows that if he messes up at all on homeworld, he might lose getting to see his friends on earth. So he throws himself even more into the pink diamond role.

When the first year finally passes and he’s made a significant amount of progress (not enough in his mind) he’s never Steven in public. Only when no one else but his family is around does he consider himself actually Steven, yellow got on him about his pearl calling him Steven still after a year of being on home world officially. They offer to help like recondition her but he refuse’s absolutely. So now pearl calls him pink in public, which sets it in stone in his mind that oh right now I’m not Steven.

When Steven turns 16, is when he not only updates his pink diamond outfit to something newer and slightly different, but his eyes look like pinks and it doesn’t go away even after he stops living on homeworld. Pearl is the first one to notice it and tell him and he’s horrified. The next days when some of the other gems starts to see his eyes, he can tell they’re a little shocked, a little uncomfortable. None of them bring it up besides amethyst who’s like woah cool eyes Steven cause she’s trying to be jokey. It doesn’t work but he laughs.

All this time he’s seen white maybe a dozen times and she’s barely even talked to him. He’s making changes, blue and yellow are more merciful but it’s still not enough. So around the end of the second year blue and yellow finally actually help him go confront white, and he has relief all of this all of this horrible pain and issues and pink diamond stuff wasn’t for nothing and so when they go confront her it starts the yk white diamond confrontation in the show except she’s like oh starlight you’ve been doing so good, why did you have to mess it up now. And this is the first time in so long that he’s protested about being pink, he’s Steven and he gets punished for it with white pulling his gem out to prove that pinks still there and that he isn’t.

It plays out mostly the same as the actual show except what happened in like the third episode of the diamond days arc, happened 2 years after the first episode of the diamond days arc lol.

And so now after that huge fight stuff he’s free, he’s Steven. But he still has the lingering feelings of being pink for so long. When he steps into his house for the first time he doesn’t even know what to do really. He hasn’t seen some of his favourite foods besides the things Connie sneaks in for him, he hasn’t watched tv in so long. he hasn’t seen almost all of his friends on earth. They all celebrate him coming back, he’s fixed everything but why does he still feel so just empty, like he’s living someone else’s life. It’s horrible, that’s how he felt when he first had to act like pink and now he feels like that for his own life.

His friends tell him he doesn’t have to act so formal around them when they’re out in public. People don’t greet him by saluting their diamond. And he doesn’t miss it at all, he’s happy that he’s finally home but it takes so long for him to get used to being himself again.

Anyways sorry for like dumping a pile of random thoughts on you lol, I hope you find it good. I don’t know how good the ideas are at all, it just started from my fascination with characters pretending to be someone and then the lines blurring between them and the person they’re impersonating

We got a new hyperfocus, you know what that means…

Ok, so, who else is super excited about this game? The little cliffhanger we got at the end of chapter 1 has me stoked for the next one!

But there’s some things in the ending song that caught my attention, and I wanted to share my theory on here.

What initially got me going down this road was the way Rambley’s voice splits into two during the song. At first, it only happened when Rambley got worked up or distressed (asking us if we’ll come back and if he’ll see us again), but then it becomes a part of his regular singing voice in verse 2.

At first, my theory was that Salem was imitating him somehow, and that the real Rambley was the second voice speaking in the background. However, after listening to the song a couple more times, I decided to rework my theory.

Rambley opens the song with a bit of dialogue, stating that he “could go for a nice, relaxing defragmentation.” … Defragmentation? Out of curiosity, I looked up what that was (because it honestly sounded like it would be painful for him), and what I found was interesting. To me, at least.

Defragmentation is the process of piecing together a file that was split into parts (fragmented) because the computer didn’t have enough storage in one spot to keep the whole file together if it was to be saved.

This is where the theory comes in. I propose that, at some point, Rambley was fragmented into different versions of himself. There are a couple of ways this could happen, but my ongoing theory is that Rambley somehow convinced one of the staff members to try and transfer him into his mascot suit only for something to go terribly wrong. When that happened, it messed up Indigo Park’s entire system which then lead to the park being shut down because none of their ai’s were working right. Unfortunately, the damage was irreparable. The park shut down due to the loss of revenue, but Rambley’s fragments kept terrorizing the other mascots; spreading across Indigo Park like an infection trying to “fix” everything and get his fame back.

Why is this my theory? Well, the main reason I went with this theory is because Rambley is shown to be incredibly insecure about his image, presenting in the game as narcissistic and jealous of the other mascots, even after the park’s closed and no one has gotten any sort of attention for years. I feel that this might’ve been a good motivator for Rambley to want to push for his real-world mascot body like all his other friends had despite the fact that it’s a delicate process.

Just to note, I know next to nothing about programming. This is just a fun theory I thought up in my free time. Constructive criticism and conversation is welcomed!

after flowers died tucker and church spent a lot of time just dicking around bc they realized that sarge decided that 4 on 2 wasn’t a fair fight and therefore the reds wouldn’t attack so they just hung around inside with their armor off while they waited for their next recruit and this results in them roughhousing a lot bc they’re both repressed men with the desperate need to be touched by another man and so tucker gets a semi and he’s like you can’t fucking blame me i haven’t touched a woman in ages and church thinks it’s the funniest thing in the world that tuckers turned on from this so he keeps him pinned down and makes fun of him and tuckers like. man it’s really weird that i’m making literally no effort to get church off of me huh. this surely doesn’t mean anything.

and then for like a week afterwards tucker keeps trying to needle church extra hard to tick him off into fighting again but church just keeps getting annoyed and screaming at him until tucker pushes it too hard and they end up ACTUALLY fighting and church gives tucker a bloody nose and tucker wants to be pissed but church is like “oh goddammit” and starts cleaning him up and tuckers like uhhhhhh bc he has a little bit of a concussion and church keeps touching his face and when he leans his head back church yells at him about not leaning back with a bloody nose and holds his head facing downwards and tucker is like UHHHHHHHHH

and if before this church constantly threatened to enter tuckers sexual fantasies now he’s the only thing on tuckers mind. so tucker starts REALLY focusing hard on the one swimsuit mag they have to try and drown church out but all that actually manages to do is make the version of church in his head that’s holding him down and being mean to him a chick. so he starts begging church to get actual porn in the next supply drop because clearly the issue is that he needs some new exciting women to think about and church is like. yeah okay whatever.

then church is able to finagle some of grifs pruno by promising to hide it from sarge and they get wasted and tuckers like haha church you would be so hot if you were a girl… if you were a girl i’d fuck you…. hahaha,,,,,, church i wish you were a girl so i could fuck you and church is like. fucking okay??? and then tucker kisses him and he’s like what the FUCK are you doing dude and tuckers like. dude i can’t stop thinking about chick you fucking me. and church is like. yeah okay i’m gonna get you those porn mags.

so next shipment comes and church is like. here you go. stop being weird now. and tuckers like. okay haha yeah this fixed me (spoilers: it did not. the fantasies have now turned into fem church AND masc church double teaming him. oh also at some point i forgot to mention church and tucker talk about sucking dick and church admits that he’s sucked his ex girlfriends strap and also gotten pegged. so THAT works it’s way in there too.) and church is like awesome.

I know an update isn't nessecary, but I still wanted to give one: I sorted the situation out!! I ended up feeling overwhelmed that night (which prompted the rambley and not properly formatted ask, so many missing details, whoops!!) and so I drafted out mentally a way to tell him what was going on.

The next morning, we talked a bit until he was fully awake, and then I explained the issues. I explained why, he talked, I talked. It lasted a good long while. I'm now doing much better at entertaining myself when he's asleep, he's agreed that when he can he'll tell me if he feels drowsy. I still have my down moments, and I'm definitely NOT the best boyfriend at the moment, but I can confidently say I've drastically improved from that moment.

I would like to clarify however, since I saw this in some comments: this was a previously communicated issue that had been brought up numerous times, however I did not make it clear just how severely it was affecting me, nor did I communicate it healthily. Furthermore, my issue wasn't starting fights over this, but I was the AH because I kept keeping this issue internal, which was harbouring resentment.

I have definitely realized how dependant I am, and while he has taken a higher duty of care over me due to my disabilities (a different story), it doesn't excuse how possessive and dependant I had become.

I also wanted to clarify what I meant by the read receipts. Possibly the most unimportant part, but simply every time he fell asleep, his phone was still on, so it looked like I got ghosted. Again, I was 100% the AH. I just wanted to give an update since I very happily sorted the situation and we're both working with each other to make long distance work easier. :)

And when they first revealed the title for the fourth episode I didn't really knew it was the name of a song by Ella Fitzgerald, it's only recently that I read the lyrics of the song and it must mean something right? Hi there! Sorry for the delayed response! As typical of me, my opinion on episode titles is gonna be on the realistic side and this answer is kinda rambley. Obviously, episode titles reflect the content of what the episode will be about, but it isn't always exactly what it seems on the surface. And that's on purpose, we usually get episode titles in advance before the episode airs and they don't want it to spoil the entire thing (hence why I don't think "placeholder titles" like "henren begins" or "buddie begins" are real).

911 has been known to borrow some of their titles from well-known movies. Examples: "Love, Actually" -> "Buck, Actually", "Oceans 11" -> "Oceans 9-1-1". "Brawl in Cell Block 99" -> "Brawl in Cell Block 9-1-1".

They've also been known to copy super common phrases. Examples: "Careful What You Wish For", or "The One That Got Away".

They also use quite a lot of questions in the titles. Examples: "What's Next?" and "9-1-1, What's Your Grievance?" and of course a million 911 puns.

When it comes to song titles, that's a little harder to judge. Song titles often have common phrases like the ones mentioned above in them, so some titles could coincidentally overlap with song titles. One example is "Wrapped in Red" which is also a Christmas love song. Or they have episodes like "Love Is In the Air" where the song is also played in the episode ending montage. These are also just common phrases and don't necessarily have to be associated with a song.

"Buck, Bothered and Bewildered" is a bit of an odd case (as is "You Don't Know Me" but for a different reason), because it is undeniably the title of a very well-known song. But plenty of other shows have made use of the title and song in episodes before so it's not exactly unprecedented.

In my opinion, I don't think we should be taking the song lyrics themselves 100% at face value and expect them to translate point for point into the episode. That's just a bit unrealistic. BUT I do think the overall vibe of the song, and the general meaning of the phrase "bothered and bewildered" can be taken as a general idea of overall themes that will be explored in the episode, but not just for Buck, even though his name is titular this time. Episode titles almost always refer to the general themes that ALL prominent characters with arcs in this episode are feeling. So chances are it will apply to Athena, Chimney, and Eddie too. My speculation is likely that Chimney is also going to be confused by Buck's actions (and possibly something to do with Maddie) And Eddie will likely also be very very bothered and bewildered by Buck's actions and feelings in this episode. Maybe Tommy too?

I am fairly positive this episode will provide huge hints and steps in the right direction toward buddie canon. And I also want people to remember that characters DO NOT always have everything figured out. Just like normal humans, they can misunderstand their own feelings, not recognize the truth/gravity/context of their feelings, and even LIE (straight to the audience's face) about their feelings. Here is where learning how to (realistically) read subtext and not be afraid of it comes in.

As for "friends wouldn't do that" moments, well I think @useramor explained it best with their post here. ALL of buddie's moments could have a platonic reading to them, but it's the extra layers of desperation, hiding feelings unnecessarily, the lack of boundaries, the merging of entities, and the way they can never actually acknowledge or define their relationship in any true way, that makes almost all of their moments ALSO read as romantic. In my opinion, if writers want a moment to be read as entirely platonic with little to no room for romantic readings, there are ways to do so where at least most of your audience will understand. Instead, the 911 writers tend to place nearly all of buddie's interactions in a platonic-romantic limbo, and I personally think that's on purpose. Biding time, if you will.

So now that's the final chapter of the Villain Arc/Paulo's arc is fully out, a summary of my thoughts. This'll probably be long-winded and rambley, so please bear with me:

Cons:

We waited 3yrs for Paulo to snap and become a villain. He was only a villain for, like, 1.5 Interludes and 3 to 5min into a roughly ~40min story chapter. Talk about underwhelming for just how long we waited... (A friendly rival being corrupted into a villain is something I always wanted to see Pokemon do, too.)

Paulo is shown to be very observant, so it feels foolish that he would charge right into Giovanni's base after seeing how TR's played the other villain teams like a fiddle. You think he won't do the same thing to Hoopa?

It was kinda lame that it took just one line from Giovanni to sway Hoopa. I guess because Paulo had taken that power from Lear, while Giovanni had power of his own with being an experienced villain boss and the guy who tamed and commanded Mewtwo? 🤔 I just wish we got more of a fight out of it.

Missed opportunities for the player/Lear to have interactions with Paulo as the villain. Like, we didn't even really get a reaction from Lear to Hoopa getting stolen/forcibly driven into a rage-state, until everything was said and done??? And even then, Lear's praising Paulo for drawing out Hoopa's power??? It just feels very weird.

I feel this is the only game that they could do the sort of storyline in, where the rival-turned-villain wants to eliminate all the world's evil, even if he must become evil himself, since we have almost all of the series' major villains on Pasio.

I was hoping for more cross-game villain interactions since it was something that I wanted to see all the way back in RR, and then they give us Lusamine, Lysandre, and Rose all teaming up over Team Break. That was really cool, but it would have been hype if we got more villains banding together to defend themselves and their organizations from Break.

Several villains don't have alts still, and we're missing most of the admins aside from TR's, Plumeria, and Courtney. Team Flare's are still MIA (at least Xerosic, since Mable, Celosia, Bryony, and Aliana aren't really that notable) Moreover, the various grunts themselves were datamines with all the regular dialogue, so it seems like they're expected to be Scouted at some point.

It's also notable that it feels like the BW arc ended pretty openly with it never being clarified if N retrieved his Reshiram. I know I wondered about there being a Pt3, with alts going to Ghetsis, Rosa, and Nate, at least until they announced Kalos. Even as the conclusion was coming, I was thinking we might get Ghetsis with W-Kyurem as one of the anniversary pairs, and him/Giovanni trying to take advantage of Paulo creating chaos with the villain teams on Pasio would be one of the driving conflicts in the next storyline.

I feel they could have added AZ in a VA Pt2 arc too, given him and Lysandre are related? I always wanted more interaction between them than what we got, plus there was that whole established parallel to Lysandre and Paulo (with Paulo even about to attack, or potentially even kill, some disarmed grunts in a similar manner to how Lysandre did), and there's a bit of a connection between Paulo and AZ with how they were willing to go to such extremes, since the two of them were driven to do what they do because of a loss of their beloved Pokemon partner.

As for the final chapter itself, kinda a missed opportunity to see the villains again when the tide against Rocket finally turns, and any other possible interactions we could see. Some after-the-battle dialogue would have just been fun.

It's frustrating because Masters generally has pretty solid storytelling! They've even fixed problems I've had with a few mainline game portrayals, like with Sycamore, and given development to characters the mainline games failed, like Cyrus.

A few pros to balance things out:

I loved the villains joining the fight all over Pasio. Including Lys when you think that TR's rampant greed is just the thing that would make him royally snap on everyone again (since Flare was developing some new weapon), but nah, he means it about letting the chosen ones decide the future.

I loved the interactions we got with Archie/Maxie and Colress/N! It's nice how Archie and Maxie continue to be the two (divorced) dads of Hoenn with their dialogue to Paulo about the similarities to them and him, and how they didn't want him making the same kinds of mistakes.

Ghetsis showing up to help, largely because he was salty about Giovanni doing what HE wanted to do and throwing a bit of a tantrum over it was the funniest thing.

I like how Gio is out there, still scheming. He even seems to take an interest in Paulo still, going by him watching the battle with you and Paulo at the end, focusing on him specifically.

I know I answered in that ask game about how Rhysand is a bad High Lord (aka bad at his job), but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it's just a world building oversight of SJM. It seems, to me at least, pretty clear that SJM loves to give characters tragic backstories or tragedies to overcome without fully thinking through the implications and big picture of what she's creating.

Like, you have Illyria, this brutal, sexist place. And Rhys's mother suffered there until his father swooped in and saved her, and his mother's trauma is still something he shoulders. And Cassian's mother also suffered there to the point it literally killed her and he was thrown into the snow and forced to fend for himself without a scrap of anything. And even Azriel's trauma is rooted in this terrible, awful place. And it's this big triumph that they banded together and they conquered Ramiel, that they escaped and are now living the dream in Velaris.

And that's great and beautiful... in a bubble. But Illyria is still there. It's still brutal. They overcame these tragedies but the tragedies now still exist for everyone else once you step back and look at the big picture. That's the implications created with these backstories.

It's the same for the Hewn City! You have this horrific place where Mor rarely saw sunlight because she was stuck underground. Where women are literally auctioned off into marriages where they're beaten and worse. And it's so great that Mor overcame that, that she got out and was a dreamer who escaped. But again, by creating this horrific place, it implies all those horrible things are just... Still happening. SJM gave Mor this beautiful story of rising out of that but what does that mean for all the other women?

You even see it in Velaris. SJM has Nesta in a literal rock bottom to reflect her figurative rock bottom, and isn't it so great she's able to pull herself out of that? But okay, you've now created a seedy, slums of Velaris full of sketch people and run down houses and awful taverns in order to do that...

Honestly, even Feyre's book 1 story shows this oversight. SJM gives her this tragic life and these horrible sisters and all this hardship for her to overcome. For her to find happiness and a better life and a real family in Prythian. And again, a beautiful story in a bubble. But then she brings back the sisters into the story and wonders why so many people hate them and don't care about Nesta's or Elain's own journeys.

And I know this is rambley and ranty, but the way I just want to shake SJM and her editor. Like please. I don't need crazy, intricate and detailed world building, but at least think it through a bit more.

Tragic backstories are all fun and games until you've now ended up with a High Lord who looks like he's absolutely terrible at his job and taking care of his Court...

So just to let everyone know this askblog is not to be taken serusly. i may get some (or alot) of stuff wrong with edward- or any charater for that matter.. sooo this is going to more or less be my little au of how i think all of them will act..you know like fanions/headcanons. this will include charaters likes, dislikes, personality, and how they react to differint situations. also i am also not going to fully go off of the popular head canions as well.. i dont wanna have to research alot for something ment to be fun- soo uhh yeah it is going to mainly be my crazy head cannions :3

yeaghhhh the sasha nein topster in no particular order !! at least what i think he'd listen to. infodump maple ramblings of his music listening headcanons under cut::

i think he'd probably have fairly eclectic tastes. i infer from the weird alien electronic/brass sounds of sashas immaculate mind that he'd like more experimental stuff . n obviously he's gonna adore kraftwerk!! every time he gets to do the music during his carpool with milla he's putting on the entirety of autobahn. the 20 minute one. but then he's shown to have a fondness classical stuff too given the censors unleashed just being an interpolation of eine kleine nachtmusik + the music his mother listened to being classical so he probably listens to a wide range !! he's on his own whenever he's working in the lab so he probably has a bit of background noise on. i also like to infer a wee bit of new wave from him given the eyeliner and him just generally reminding me a lot of gary numan

he's a lame semi-pretentious music nerd sort of. if he likes/dislikes a certain song you WILL be hearing a thorough explanation as to why, to the point where his infodumps can last long enough to where the song's already ended. he tends to save the more long-winded speeches for the stuff he likes though. better use of time focussing on what he likes. also hyperfixation.

him and milla have a surprising amount of overlap in their music tastes !! the most prominent ofc being talking heads. they've definitely had a silly cute little date where they watch stop making sense together,,, if he's not got milla to keep him in check, sasha probably solo dances like david byrne anyway. the weird, precise movements remind me of him. but anyway anyway their musical affections find a little overlap in new wave/synthpop stuff !! and they both enjoy björk and broadcast, albeit different albums. (mildly off topic but tmtltt by björk reminds me of milla's dance party music somehow). and milla's love of disco has rubbed off a little on sasha - he'll catch himself quietly humming abba as he gets dressed. it's not particularly his cup of tea, but the association it carries and the thought of how happy milla looks when she's dancing makes it all the more important to him . accidental sashamilla sidetangent they make me so sick anyway .

a lot of the stuff he listens to is wordless genres in order to help him focus better while he works. and just because sometimes it's too overwhelming to listen to anything that's not ambient. i like to think he has a little cassette player that he takes to work sometimes on the slow days where he's writing up scientific papers or having to do more boring, menial tasks. like the sony walkmans with the fun orange headphones;;; they match his glasses :]

also the dialogue where he's singing/humming after getting hit enough times under the stamp is so so real to me. obviously he was very light-headed there but i like to think he'll very quietly sing along to a song he's listening to if he's alone ... hes so sweet i hope he dies

[So in case someone's reading this thinking ???? we sometimes throw a spinning wheel of songs at each other and then just go rambling yelling analysing whatever it gives back. I've kept track with this tag, feel free to copy any of them wheels links and go off or bug someone with it actually pls do]

Oh you mean that song I for some reason like some total idiot put on first thing in the morning and just bawl my eyes out, you know when its so early you're just so vulnerable and everything feels raw and there's no thoughts just something primal happens and it's me drowning myself in this song and then the day can start I guess am I fine nobody knows. It's now my Saturday morning ritual where before coffee I see some sun and I just bawl there's something therapeutic about it. I'd recommend it. Just some sun some coffee brewin some confused pet wondering if you're OK yeah.

Anyway. The song I can place extremely easily in like "1d ended and it sucked" context, but it works with a lot. whatever I can think of him, or anyone, writing about, whatever it means to me. (general Louis' songwriting ramble incoming:) I'm looking at FITF differently compared to Walls and previous work and he's approached it differently, I feel like what he's been saying about his discography fits that as well. I think (this is a mash of what i think to hear in his lyrics and in interviews, so heavy paraphrasing:) before he had this idea he should be writing where the whole thing makes sense to be about this one situation/idea and it has to be about him too and sure perhaps a context might have been written around it, but i think in the past hes been pretty perfectionist on having every single line fit the thing he was thinking of what that song is, and now thats no longer the case. Now it's whatever works, whatever hits, feels, does it. It doesn't matter one thought/situation flows into another.

I guess that was a long rambley way of saying I wanna do line by line lyric analyses of his stuff but I don't know how to make that work as it did previously, for me at least. But on the other by temporarily running with one interpretation and seeing what you can find in the lines can really help see more angles, bring more depth to the line, and consider other meanings and stuff so.. idk not much wrong with it. I wanna do that too I think. This is I guess A Promise I'll do a Holding On To Heartache lyric breakdown. At Some Point. :D

But I think his choices of words and soundscapes and perhaps all them being little references are just wonderful. I cherish it so much. I'm slightly afraid he did the same in Perfect Now (like after seeing a web of possible perfect now lyrical referencing that song did become one of my favs as I love that idea like it gives so much more body depth meaning whatever to a song to me even if not on purpose lol its not even relevant at that point anymore anyway) and long term didn't value it much so now I'm afraid my new little more poppy fav will be his new neglected child but time will tell. Just... have an itch. Rip. EDIT yeah that itch got worse because of the track by track we got now.. it's got that bit about HOTH being a poppy one and the way he's talking about it sigh i feel him but sigh also hes sigh i dont wannt start that discourse over that shit so no. but itch. I uh... luckily don't let how I interpret his reactions to his own songs affect the way I feel about his own songs haha brainpayne this.

ok ok ok last ramble it sounds so fucking liquid? so wet?? how do I explain this why does it sound w e t EDIT: help me he said the sound is like a guitar under water like he's drowning it's flooding we're in a puddle of tears this song, it's what makes me bawl I think, because the song sounds like bawling, and your cheeks are puffed up and we,t and you find a moment of quiet and stare up at the sky with your wet lashes exhausted defeated but you're still here you're still breathing. Also the bridge with the "space between us just comes FLOODING back" at the end of it, it's not the bit that hits the hardest in an obvious way, instead it kinda gets overlooked a way, theres no moment to sit and waddle in the SHIT FLOODING BACK RIGHT THERE it just goes right into the quiet bit again,there's no time given to recover from getting crushed by the wavesm and it just does something to me... I can't leave that bit as the little end of a big thought it sounds like, but the way its sung... time just keeps ticking and we're at the end. I'm almost sure that wasn't intentional and like @ me why focus on this of all the overwhelm that's in this song, but that just feels like a reflection of the feeling I get from this song, you're just fucking sitting there in the middle of this overwhelming ache these waves of hurt and shit just moves on and youre just there stuck there with but i wasn't done? But I guess I should be? Like there's no room for me drowning in this even more but I feel like I need to still?
