The most interesting part has been watching conservatives react to all this unfolding, because inevitably one of the many many cut things will affect them directly. They're losing benefits, jobs, opportunities, etc. And that is, very slowly, starting to turn them around on the whole thing. (And then some conspiracy magas think those people are a psyop, but you know what theyre like)

Firing Park Rangers got a lot of them because of hunting/fishing/outdoor hobbies, and it's one you can verifiably tell as an outside observer that they're well run. Anyone who's been to a park can tell there was no bloat to be cut.

You know, the Elon Husk recklessly cutting so many jobs from the federal government has really reminded me of just how much the government does.

A lot of people ask “what has the government ever done for me?” and it turns out that well until like two weeks ago when the Husk cut so many people from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau it was making companies that charged you random illegal charges refund you without you even noticing and suing companies that break the law

#ramble #cw politics #us politics #itll be funny to me and me alone #also i assume we've all seen the leopards ate my face song guy who actually turned around and listened more to the left.#i should probably reblog that post too actually #anyway my point is that this is the best opportunity we'll get for actually talking and deprogramming these folks #i get the schadenfreude and im not gonna begrudge anyone their “you got what you voted for asshat” spite.#but if you can. if you have the resources and energy. try talking to them. start small. show them the 'dead birds dont lay eggs' comic.#then tell them about good things that have come from the democrats. keep it small and personal if you can. dont jump to “abolish capitalism #but like “obama made the cfpb which protects you from fraud”. “joe biden made it so seniors only have to pay this much for medications”#point out that a lot of these things happen behind the scenes which is why we may not know about them #maybe point them to a resource that breaks down some of that government work. and who installed most of it vs who tore it down #small steps deradicalize your local boomer
