I love the "he asked for no pickles" meme with doorkeay bc I've only ever seen it with Gerry being the one talking and u just KNOW it's not bc Michael doesn't want to correct the food staff, but that it wants to correct them a little too much. Gerry has to step in otherwise they'll be there for at least another hour of Michael spinning some philosophical bullshit and scaring some poor fast food worker, and while Gerry doesn't necessarily mind Michael doing that in and of itself (he knows the thing he's in love with), as the only one of the two of them who actually needs material food he would like to eat that food before it gets cold tyvm.

#I like to think that the first time it happened Gerry did let Michael reorder and quickly learned his lesson as he spent the next 2 hours of #his life sitting in an incredibly uncomfortable and honestly kinda gross fast food booth while Michael would not stop fucking talking #yk the feeling as a kid when yr parents run into a friend and it feels like yr stuck there forever while they talk? same vibe #it's when they're both finally leaving (Gerry is still thinking abt how the cashier's hands shook and idly hoping they don't get swallowed #by a door anytime soon otherwise he'll have to find a new cheep fast food place to frequent while hunting and that'd be disappointing)#when he just freezes and is like WAIT MICHAEL WTF DO U EVEN TASTE FOOD THE SAME ANYMORE #(no it does not)#and Micheal gears up to go on a spiel abt Michael Shelly and glimpses of humanity seeping thru the cracks of the Spiral #but Gerry just sees this and throws their food bag and it and refuses to talk to or aknowledge it as he speed walks home #(when they get back they make out sloppy style regardless BUT it's the principle Gerry wasted so much data so he wasn't entirely bored out #of his mind and that shit is expensive Michael)#the magnus archives #gerard keay #michael distortion #doorkeay

anyone else keep slipping back into bad habits and unhealthy coping mechanisms not because you can't do better or you don't have the skills or motivation to stick to a better lifestyle but because the vibe of your life just feels wrong if you try to be like, healthy

#this was the hardest thing about quitting smoking to be its just a loss of so many vibes that i enjoy. like obviously i was #psychologically and physiologically addicted to nicotine so it wasnt vibes but like i think the sort of #loss of the feelings in my life that smoking caused and the vibe of being a smoker was much hardeer to cope with than like #nicotine cravings or whatever #its kind of interesting bc a lot of this stuff i KNOW it makes me feel worse and i know its not good for me and i dont particularly WANT #to be doing it but also i do want to be doing it bc it gives me something i just cant get otherwise. and like #the experience of being a healthy good person isn't the same. it doesnt feel as interesting #its less novel and less stimulating yk #ugh its all the adhd isnt it

I think Rand went too far a lot with his jokes to Rolan, especially when they were younger like there were times when he would do something that Rolan would get genuinely upset at like "this is no longer a joke" kind of upset or he would make Rolan cry and this happened so often but Rand kinda dialed back a LOT after Rolan wouldn't talk to him for a few days bc of a bad joke n he's kinda got a gauge a bout what he can do or how far he can go with Rolan but at first he often went too far (I cant think of jokes that he would go too far buyt you get it)

yess i think that sometimes rolan would have some trouble understanding jokes and tone shift and irony, and since he's an easy target for bullies he's doesnt deal well with people laughing at him bc he didnt get something, or because he made a social faux pas without noticing. its even worse with pranks, he doesnt understand why people would make them. rand ofc just wants to tease him a little, he finds it cute when rolan is annoyed and frustrated, but he never meant any harm.
