I don't know when exactly Nerdanel left Feanor, so I am choosing to believe that they 'divorced' when Feanor was banished from Tirion and Nerdanel refused to go with him and their sons to Formenos. But I also headcannon that things between them were bad long before that. As in, Amras and Amrod suffered from "Our Parents Should Divorce Already" situation.

I even decided to not just draw Alexis with them but also revamp her Enchantix at the last minute because the other girls were totally outdoing her, especially in the wings department and we can't have that! I mean all I really did was reshape her wings and add a tiara but still lolol 🤭💕

now, i think dokja would be a bit possessive of all his group (kimcom) in a kind of “mama cat” kinda way. they’re his PEOPLE, and they’re only his. if someone hurts them, any of them at all, that someone will disappear real fuckin fast. he’s the leader of the group and he’ll be damned if he can’t protect his children and his friends.

this kind of goes the other way too, the rest of the group will kick in his shins (metaphorically) and force him to stay in bed using any means necessary (remember in canon when they literally sedated him to force him to take a break?) if they believe he’s ever in danger of fucking up his own health to pursue an outside goal. (which he’s absolutely allowed to do, but NOT at the cost of his sleep or his nutrition or his mental health.)

but christ, yjh and kdj to each other?? now, they have no worries about cheating or anything god no. but god fucking forbid you hold one up for too long while the other’s waiting for them. ESPECIALLY, good lord, if you flirt with one of them? you’ll be lucky if a sword held up to your face is the only thing you get lol.

these guys are a fucking menace to their local neighborhood, it’s basically agreed upon fact that you just shouldn’t talk to one if the other isnt in the room. especially dokja, his companion is downright terrifying if he learns you talked to HIS partner without him in the room good lord. nice guy with a scary boyfriend.

this is more er. soft yandere i suppose. i explain my thinking more in the tags but basically i think they arent as murderous as your typical sorta “crazy in love” story because they’ve stabilized each other enough that they dont feel the need to do it so much. because if the one you love is Right There next to you why would you separate from them to chase after Another Person?

what do you consider the heart of californication? like really carries through the series & makes it compelling

thank you for this question, i really love it. to me, it's a number of things, starting with that the show cares deeply about hank and takes him seriously in a way that the culture doesn't. in a way, yes, he's their dog and pony show with the funny one-liners and the salacious pull. but the arc of the series is unequivocally aligned with him and his desires and his needs and his values.

hank wants to be with his family, wants to be better for them, wants to not let them down- and the show needs him to fail at all of those things. for the dog and pony of it all, for their viewership and for their thesis and for the food in their mouths, but it simultaneously feels bad that he is failing. simultaneously knows that this isn't what he wants, and that it's sad. and it can be as simple as a dream sequence or a look or a quiet final scene, but every single episode is ultimately going to remind you that everything you're laughing at is a loss.

which, like i said at the top, speaks to a level of respect that the show had for the character that is just gone in discussions of the series. they take the time to recognize that he is missing something. he is losing something and he is without everything that means anything to him, this is the cost. equally important, duchovny respects that character and understands the same.

i was listening to an interview last night (trish you heard this) where he was speaking with some podcast dudebros and one of the hosts said that he always wanted to be just like hank moody, and then he made some "bad decisions" and got there, and he doesn't like it. and duchovny said that every time people come up to him saying "i'm just like hank moody," he says "i'm sorry."

men watch and they want to be just like hank moody and women watch and they want to fuck hank moody so bad, and all of you miss what the source comprehends: that it's an irreparable deficit.

other than that, i feel like what roots that show is that it really isn't all that cynical. not in the way that it could be. and the show believes in hank.

there is a lot of kindness and hope (often false hope) that runs underneath most every relationship and interaction and dynamic in the series and i really really appreciate that about it. it's like in the pilot when hank is being mean and he wants marcy to yell at him and she just says "go home, honey. sleep it off. tomorrow's another day."

there's always a little bit of understanding and grace amongst the crazies and i think there's something really special about that

Ok I'm putting this here under a cut as explanation for my sudden breakup :p

Also I'm still astounded by how bullshit it is. But oh well.

The overall summary is that she realized a few days ago that she's "in love" with one of her coworkers after only a few days of thinking of her like that (I feel like she's just blinded by infatuation, but she won't listen to reason on that). It's been an open relationship that I Would have been open to poly negotiation with, but she just went blazed earth about it since she doesn't think she can feel with me what she feels for this girl. She stood me up yesterday, then ignored me for half the day. Came back with apologizes and a promise to talk it out today, but then ignored me for the rest of the night and much of this morning until I was basically begging for her to just respond to me. And even though she says she knows she'll regret this, even though this person she's choosing over me is ALREADY dating someone else (all parties know) and is planning on moving soon, she's so blinded by her infatuation that she's throwing away a nearly 6 month long relationship out of the blue. Honestly, I think it's impulsive, stupid as hell, and a form of self harm for her. I recommended she talk with her therapist about it :p

But at this point, she said she doesn't love me, so what's done is done.

Put me thru a hell of a morning and I was a spiteful little shit about it, but I'm feeling surprisingly better about it now
