YEAH I GET THIS SO MUCH! i really dont like leosagi in pretty much any format. Im also not a huge fan of the shippers tending to be tmnt fans only or tmnt fans first because i feel like they dont care for usagi outside of someone to ship and only learn more about him for shipping. Rise and 2003 fans are especially prominent of this ive seen.

And for ages yeah usagi is very much an adult, has a child, stan says he an adult, and yet we still have people trying to argue for the comics or shows he adapted in going “noooo but you see the age gap isnt that big!” My brother in CHRIST ITS TEENAGE mutant ninja turtles. TEENAGE! I can kinda see where 2003 is coming from but its not cannon if usagi is a teen there. They dont ever state his age so stop spreading like its fact! And no one really listens to it because no one likes hearing that their favorite ship might be problematic.

And leosagi but its rise leo and yuchi usagi both are like the same age more or less so nothing problimatic there those who ship it are fine, i just really dont like the samurai rabbit show. Ive got no problem with yall i just dont want to see content relating to the show in any way shape or form.

Anyway im so happy to hear im not the only one who thinks this because i was beginning to think that maybe i was the odd one out here and over reacting but no.

that’s how I am with the tmnt fandom when I say I think leosagi is problematic now lemme explain on this

now just note I’m not in the tmnt fandom due to the problematic nature it has but I do like tmnt (my most favorite is the 2007 verison) but I am in the usagi yojimbo fandom and been trying to read the comics online and this is just my opinion cause I know I won’t change others minds I just like to express my opinions over the internet cause why not

but it basically frustrates me when I go to look up usagi content everyone is talking about shipping him with the turtles kinda gives me a ick

Especially since in the title teenage mutant ninja turtles there is teenage in the first sentence and the turtles always been told they were teenagers

and usagi is canonically said to be in his late 20s to early 30s now before you say “but 2003 usagi is a teenager” or something like now for 1 it does not say that anywhere I checked myself and it’s nowhere seen

And plus the main comics literally start as him being a adult and he acts like a adult in the adaptions I personally see 2003 usagi being a father figure or a older brother to Leo due to how they interact

now don’t think this is the only unpopular ship opinion I have I mean I shittalk about like shadowpeach in the past

so yeah basically

it’s hard to join fandoms without being attack for a opinion you have (it’s honestly personally why I don’t interact with fandoms most of the time people start to act like people in mental asylums some worse then others (COUGH COUGH GENSHIN IMPACT COUGH COUGH)

ALL THESE THINGS! ALL THESE THINGS AND MORE! I HATE THIS SHOW! ITS A POOR POOR ADAPTATION!

If this show was its own thing completely unrelated to the comics, it would be okay. I wouldn’t like it but it would be okay. However because it’s taking the very good source material, and mangling it into this horrid creation that not only disrespects the original story but the history in which that story takes place upsets me SO MUCH!

One of my favorite things about usagi Yojimbo is the aspect of it taking place in Japan and it having very culturally Japanese things in it because of that. I bond with some of my Japanese relatives over that by making dishes from the book or talking about the history of Japan or some of its traditions. AND WE BASICALLY SEE NONE OF THAT IN THE SHOW!

Yeah sure it has Japanese inspired architecture and clothing, but it’s not the actual thing. Yuchi has one katana in the show. Samurai typically carry 2, one short one long. And the comics go into depth not only explaining that but how swords are made and why they are so important to the samurai. None of that is shown here in the show. And that makes me really sad. And yeah he gets usagi sword willow branch in the 2nd season but it’s more “u must prove yourself worthy ooooo” and gives nothing.

The way they adapt clothing here also really disappoints me. Especially for Kitsune. I love kimonos and seeing her beautiful kimono be opted out for something hardly resembling the original item of clothing is so frustrating. I never get to see the actual outfits from the comics, instead it’s all these redesigned let’s make everything look “cool” outfits that look like they belong more in genshin than an adaptation for usagi.

ESPECIALLY ALL THE NINJA!

Are you seriously going to tell me that these are ninja attire?

Im pretty sure the mogura are supposed to look like modern day gangs in Japan but I’m not sure why this change was needed or why they needed to make a joke of them. Like they are never taken seriously.

Not a fan of the bats either. They are taken a little more seriously but their ninja origins are also not there. It’s just

The Neko ninja at least look like an attempt at ninja, but their leader lady fuwa is a joke, and chizus whole backstory about how she was an orphan and lady fuwa forbid her from having friends is just so, is just not how that worked at all in the comics! Ninja can and do have friends. That’s not like a taboo for them. What does happen is that their friends die and because of this they believe a ninjas duty in life is death. That’s how they cope with their loved ones death.

That’s just another thing I really hate about this show, ideas from the comics are either simplified or completely redone in a way that takes all the maturity and nuance out of the story.

Here’s some examples with the characters.

In the comics gens backstory is that his father takes his duties as a samurai more important than the duties to his family which leads him to neglect his wife and child. Because of this Gen and his mother are forced to live under a bridge and beg for scraps to survive. Gen father gives him nothing except his skills with the sword, which Gen remembers as a painful process to learn. His father was emotionally distant and Gen remarked that it would have been better if his dad has just hated him instead of feeling nothing. When gen was an adult he used his skills with the sword to defeat 2 bandits and turned them in for their bounty. With the bounty he bought himself his first real meal and from that day he decided that he would be a bounty hunter and never live in the poverty he had to endure as a child. This is also why Gen doesn’t care for usagi’s whole thing with honor and samurai ideals. For Gen the way of the samurai only brought him pain and suffering. There’s no reason for him to respect or believe in it. Instead he believes in money as that brought him happiness and food. Gens terrible childhood with poverty and his neglectful father made him into the person he is in the comics. He’s full of anger and rarely allows himself to be vulnerable or show weakness. It’s rare for him to use his skills or money to help others if it doesn’t benefit his own delft interests. Usagi even makes jokes about behind his hard exterior he’s does have a soft side. They are integral parts to his character.

HOWEVER IN THE SHOW THSTS COMPLETELY GONE! Instead it’s because his mother decided to help heal a wounded criminal, and the entire town shaming her family because of that. They leave town because of this. Gen becomes a bounty hunter to pay back the money his sister borrowed from the bat crew. The story is completely redone in a way that takes out a lot of the weight of the original story. There’s nothing about his father, his poverty is still there but it hardly has the same impact as the comics. Instead of being bitter and emotionally closed off he’s extremely fearful and worries about everything to a comedic level (it’s actually just really annoying). All his growth from the comics of overcoming his selfish desires is gone. Instead the character from the show is extremely toned down and nowhere near as interesting or mature as the character from the comics.

ALSO THEY MAKE A JOKE ABOUT THE LOSS OF HIS HORN AND INSTEAD PUT A FREAKING CHAINSAW ON IT!

And that’s just one example of how this show doesn’t allow its plot or characters to be serious. They take out all the parts that might be seen as to mature for a child audience and simplifying or dumbing down the rest to where all the emotional impact is gone. All because the intended audience is for kids.

And that’s just so frustrating to see this comic be dumbed down because the adaptation was for children. I fully believe that a show adapting usagi would be best if the intended audience was for adults like blue eyed samurai on Netflix, which is a great story also about a lone samurai in around the same time period as usagi that is respectful to the Japanese elements. I really wish usagi could have had a show like that.

However even if it is an adaptation for kids there’s no reason why you can’t include those mature themes. Children aren’t stupid and don’t need 30 jokes about everything to keep the entertained. For example avatar is able to deal with mature themes like how abuse and trama affects people without pretending it doesn’t exist or dumbing it down with jokes to where the impact is gone. It’s also able to be respectful to the cultural elements it includes in the show. Villains are scary and a real threat in this show. They aren’t dumbed down or constantly being used as a joke. Other kids shows are able to do this too with spectacular Spider-Man showing Peter’s money troubles and Harry’s addiction and the abuse Norman gives him. The owl house is able to show how amity and hunter view the world because of their upbringing, and how things like a disability or in Eda’s case her curse affect daily life and how while they make life harder, they don’t make you any less of a person and that you can still do the things you enjoy, you might just need accommodations to do so.

All these shows and more are able to tell interesting and mature stories to a younger audience without completely dumbing it down or refusing to show it. That’s why samurai rabbit is so frustrating to me. It refuses to do those things. It refuses to actually use its source material to tell an interesting and mature story. And that source material is so interesting and full of wonderful stories. It’s sad seeing something you love so dearly that you know is so good be dumbed down because it’s “for kids” instead of actually getting the adaptation it deserves.

ANNNNYWAAAY, I just realized I ranted about this for so long that I practically wrote an essay on this. There’s so many other things I didn’t talk about like how the other characters were adapted, or like how kuaille mentioned how it’s such an odd choice for usagi to be a yokai hunter or jotaro not being there at ALL, or the stupid FUKING aliens

AND THE ART I NEED TO MAKE ANOTHER POST JUST TALKING ABOUT THAT!

THURSDAY JULY 21ST, 2011 (Who Once Ruled the Streetlights)

9:31 AM Rabbit hole hotel. Rock solid fake beds. I tried calling some room service, a voice on the phone accepted my order, there was a knock at the door, and when we opened up, there was no one there, just a tray of food on the ground. I ordered a mushroom burger. Donnie got a korma.

9:44 AM Eaten. I guess I should write some explanations, huh? Well. I had to leave the library, I had to think things through. It's. Really fucking sad to know that she's dead. She was someone I knew, someone I had history with, someone who, all things considered, did actually help me not feel so totally alone for a while. I had dreamed of getting to meet her one day. I was scared that our breakup would have meant she wouldn't want to see me, but, like, I can't even confirm that. Maybe it wasn't as bad as all that. Maybe she would have wanted to come with us. I could have talked Donnie into it, I think. Donnie would have liked Anna. They're both really sweet and… ..did I even really know Anna all that well? Do I even really know Donnie...? We do talk. I don't write everything down. We chat about the world as it once was, and our gripes with school. Donnie had British schooling, which has its differences. Donnie also grew up with a lot more British TV than I did. And she'd seen a lot more American movies than me, as American movies get distributed everywhere, and I.. well, okay, it's complicated. My parents were film buffs. It sometimes felt like there was always a movie on at my house. But they were often black-and-white movies, or off-beat 2000s comedies that dad found really funny, or the myriad thrillers and supernatural horrors that mum loved. I watched kid movies. And TV. So much TV. Dad did show me Watchmen in theaters when that came out. Donnie's seen all the classics, the Ghostbusters, the Blade Runner, the Bourne movies, the Back to the Futures, the Breakfast Club, something about a Wong Foo. Hell, Donnie watched Samurai Jack when it was on TV. I didn't watch any of those. I did see some Samurai Jack, but it was always too slow for me. What did Anna watch? I remember her mentioning Donnie Darko. Neon Genesis Evangelion, definitely never got around to that one. She talked a lot about musicians like Ben Folds and Foxy Shazam. And she talked a lot about that Homestuck. I think, of all those things, I was familiar with Donnie Darko. Donnie is too. But, like. Media is all I really know of people. And some details about how people feel about their families. A loose idea of what creative things people like doing. Is that, like. Is that just an internet friend thing? Is it also just a me thing? It doesn't... come naturally to me, to just chat about anything else. What is there? Sports? Card games? I guess, for adults, there's jobs. I'm not even that good at talking about food. So, like. So. It's not that bizarre, to feel a little bit of sadness and then move on. ...I hate that I feel it. And I hate that I feel expected to move on. And I hate that I'm.. just.. going to. And, like. Another option is vowing revenge. But she died in the Cipher Realm. And we killed the Cipher. We got that revenge. … Anyway.

9:50 AM So I left the library, I went out the Door, I came to Utah. I felt what I was going to feel. And I found the slender man. A slender man? He watched me from a doorway as I passed through. I didn't even notice him at first. I just noticed a lot of fallen leaves gathering under my feet. The last thing I remember is looking around, noticing him. Then.. Donnie was sleeping next to me in this hotel. My journal is blank for those missing days, except for those tally marks again. I can.. I mean, I can take a guess as to what happened. I went with the slender man somewhere. I killed for him. I marked each kill. He's the slender man. In the stories, that's the kind of thing that he causes. I guess it doesn't have to have been kills? It could have been fucking pill bottles stolen from college students, for all I know. Masks bought from Wal-Mart and decorated with creepy black marker. Donnie says she doesn't know about all that, that when she couldn't find me in Castle Dale she ultimately decided to head west. First she walked, dragging her rifle on the ground behind her, my journal in a pocket in her now-tattered combat suit. Then she found a car and drove until night fell and she slept in a gas station. She considered sleeping in one of the many department stores or supermarkets she passed, but the bigger buildings out there could hide all sorts of threats. That night, she didn't notice anything, but the journal still had the tally marks come morning. So she kept moving, driving through interstates, switchbacks, and national parks. She occasionally saw small packs of travellers, and even less occasionally passed another moving car. More often, she saw a dog, always waiting for her at the towns she drove through, always already there. She didn't stop for it. In between CDs on the car stereo, she could hear cawing, sometimes screams, and sometimes gunshots. Night fell for the second time, and she started looking for good empty buildings, when she drove through another road-sized rabbit hole and ended up in a desert at daytime. And she kept driving, at least until the car got jammed by sand and she couldn't get it unstuck alone. And that's when the Thunderbirds came. Blacking out the sky in a tremendous storm, convincing her to stay in the car and grip her gun. They flew in circles, cawing a cacophany, whipping up a wind that morphed the sands in front of her, building a hotel of desert brick that rose out of the ground. Immaculately carved. And then there wasn't a single bird in the sky, and the hotel's lights were on. Sign said The Lookout. So she waited a few minutes, bracing for jump scares, before going inside and getting a room. And this time, late in the night, she heard the door open. And saw me walk in. And saw me collapse on the bed next to her, writing the tally marks in the journal, then pass out. She says she stroked my hair a little before she fell asleep. She says she's just glad I'm back. ...me too.

10:00 AM I talked with Donnie as I wrote all this down. I thanked her for keeping my journal safe. And I apologized for going off by myself, which was dumb. "I had the feeling you weren't gone for good. I'm starting to.. get used to how all this works." All the Fear stuff? "You." o_o;; "I never did tell you, did I? That.. friend of mine, who I wanted to go to Nebraska for. He was my ex." Oh… "There's been anxieties in my head, for sure. I've wondered if, in our travels, we'd find him... dead. Or even alive. Honestly I don't know which makes me more anxious. Because, I needed him at the time to help me get through a.. thing with my mum. My parents' divorce... my mum's alcoholism." Yeah. That makes sense. "But, did I really know him that well? Was I just using him, in a hard time?" I don't know about that. I don't know how friends work, I guess, but that also means I don't know if taking advantage works that way. I mean, I guess I don't know the whole story? But I don't need to. If he's willing to focus on you when you need the company, that's... friendship. "Is it romance, though?" Uh. o__o;; I'm even more ignorant on that one. "When his own life got stressful, he didn't depend on me. He just cut it all off. Said he didn't need me around for this." That's.. different, then. So you thought maybe you'd be able to find him and show him that you can help? "Yes. That's.. pretty spot-on. I'm sorry I didn't tell you about this." holding my hand. I think we do understand each other. :) "Was it like that with you? And Anna?" Y'know, I.. don't.. actually know? I think it's more likely that I proved I was too caught up in my own problems to be able to help with hers. Or maybe even.. to even really listen to her. "You think? So you don't actually know." No. I didn't want to. "Then you're being too hard on yourself. And you clearly want to know now." Now when it's too late, yeah. "I think you're going to feel that for a while." Yeah.

Like they're trying to sit, like regular humans. donnie "Did.. they just save us?" "It has no power here. Not in our hotel." 11:43 AM So, uh.. we’re definitely in Las Vegas, Nevada. It looks completely normal. The cars look a little more beaten than normal, but they all pretty much work. And people all look.. human! We went into a restaurant and asked around about this place. This city has been renamed New Sanctuary. It’s kept safe by the local police force– privatized, mind you– which is the NS division of the Rise Against Fear Anon guys. They do a really good job. When Donnie asked about the blue sky, the guy we asked said it’s provided by the “ants of the sky.”

12:34 PM Nobody’s wanting to talk much. Everyone does their job, carries onward ever forward. The advertisements, in newspapers and on billboards and on TV, allude to Fear presence, though never anything specific. It makes me want to just get a job somewhere, myself, so I’m not left in the open for Fears to get me.

Like they've been talked into working jobs so much that they don't really consider there's a world outside anymore. There's just no time to. Is that a thing? 1: Buddha (ror/snv/ records of Ragnarok)

Reason: He is the first God to openly say fuck the other hods and fight for the human. His style, his attentuide i could marry this man i love him so much.

2: Alucard (hellsing)

Childhood crushes goes hard and I never stopped loving this character. It's also partially because of his voice actor both the original and the abridge version. Shout out to Taka and Crispin Freeman.

3: Gojo (jjk)

Here man hate this man but I am in love with him. It's his everything! It's the way he is going to lose everyone he loves. I foam at the mouth over this guy.

4: Denji (chainsaw man)

I firmly believe I could bully fugimoto into marrying me and that why I like Denji. Nah but fr it mostly because I love like sad pathetic character and have a bit of a savior complex. Denji just a wet noodle of a boy and I wanna hug him!

5: Hisoka (hunter x hunter)

This one is pretty contentious because everyone has something they want to say about this character. As if they haven't misinterpreted both him and illumi. I just like a character who doesn't give a fuck but is full of spite. Like this bitch so so full of hypocrisy, we love to see it.

6: Naraku (inuyasha)

This one super old crush, I wish there was a reason. But their not I just remember really likening him as a kid so it's just followed me into adulthood.

7: Gaara (Naruto)

Again another childhood crush that followed into adulthood. This one stems from the fact when me and my friends would make OC. They would always pick the main guys and I wouldn't have anyone cool to pair up with besides the lame side characters. So I became more aware of what side character did because I wanted them to be just as important that the main character my friend picked. It's the favor of childhood trauma.

8: Rin (texhnolyze)

The only female on the list and she does a horrible death and spirals the main lead to die as well. Rin is just the stand it for the whole cast in this anime. Don't watch it unless you are in the right mental state. Cause I wasn't :D

9: Medcine seller (Mononoke)

Just- watch the anime and and the movie this guy comes from. It's hard to put into words what I like about him.

10: Naota (FLCL)

This one was hard to pick because I have a lot of old character I like. And someone were fighting for this last spot. But I decided to pick Naota simply because I invested so much time into his story. Into the world. It's how I met one of my best friend. This character holds a dear place in my heart.

Honorable mentions: Kyo from samurai deeper kyo, Kuzuma (S-Cry-Ed), Shinji (EVA), Ibrau (kuuchuu Buranko I also bought the book) imma just put the name of the anime cause i love it (Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai) that whole cast. I can't remember if I've asked you this already or someone else has if so I'm sorry. I'm looking for some anime to watch and wondered if you could reccomend me some of your faves.

Hoo boy, that’s a seriously long list 😂 (please make sure to check them all out if you have any triggers, because some of these are pretty messed up).

One Piece - all time favourite, could not recommend it enough (but be aware you’d have over 1K episodes to catch up on lol).

Fairy Tail - it’s a walking cliché of fanservice and friendship, but by god I love it (also Natsu/Lucy is my all time favourite ship).

Gintama - so weird, so crude, so funny, it’s a comedy/parody anime that may confuse and baffle at times, but a lot of the bigger arcs that follow a linear plot are so good.

Full Metal Alchemist(: Brotherhood) - I’ve watched both versions and Brotherhood was imo superior, but the 2003 version doesn’t slack, so if you’re willing I’d give them both a try (can never get enough FMA is what I’m saying).

Wolf’s Rain - my first anime and the one that led me into the rabbit hole, kind of surprising because I was like 10/11 and this shit was deep.

Bleach - okay, I have a real love/hate with Bleach but you can’t go wrong with everything up to the end of the Soul Society Arc, after that I will take no responsibility lol.

Jujutsu Kaisen - if you haven’t watched this (or read it), you need to go do that now.

Hunter x Hunter - top tier anime, it’s as popular as it is for a reason. The Chimera Ant Arc…yeahhh.

Bungou Stray Dogs - I binge watched every season without issue, kept my focus pretty much the whole time.

Blue Exorcist - many peoples gateway anime, it’s fun, it’s angsty, and it’s not a good idea to trust your favs.

Banana Fish - this fucking manga/anime…(please be warned that there are a lot of triggering scenes and topics involved).

Nanbaka - another parody/comedy anime that smacks you with the feels, seriously it’s a good one.

Akatsuki no Yona - look everyone is really pretty, I want to marry my own Hak, and Yona is a bad bitch (although don’t listen to people screaming about character development, there wasn’t actually a lot lol).

I truly wish I could say more about this but I don’t actually know all that much about the Samurai culture. (although I did go down a few interesting rabbit holes that I am looking forward to digging into later.)

Eros had a bad habit of going out in the cold without proper protection.

He wasn't sure WHY he was incapable of just checking the temperature before he went out- part of him just assumed he was always immediately dressed correctly.

One day he's learn. Maybe.

Today, however, was not that day. It was the middle of fall, getting closer to the colder weather. He expected it to just be the regular chill, so he'd only worn jeans and short sleeved t-shirt. Of course, he was fucking wrong, and it felt more like winter.

But he was stubborn, and refused to go back to his apartment to grab a coat or something. He'd rather freeze than divert from his path.

Luckily, the town therapist seemed to realize that.

"Forgot to check the temperature again, huh?" Archie asked as he came up next to Eros, an extra coat and scarf draped over his arm, just like always in the colder seasons. "You really should make a habit of it."

That drew a laugh from Eros, as he took the offered coat and shrugged it on. It was a tad too big for him, but comfy, and it held the distinctive scent of old books, which undoubtedly came from Archie's office.

"Here, don't forget this," Archie added, hooking the scar around Eros's neck and loosely wrapping it around. "There. If we're lucky, you're less likely to freeze now."

Eros took a second to make sure he was comfortable, before leaning forward to press a short kiss to Archie's cheek. "Thanks, doc. Dunno what I'd do without you."

Rabbit hated crowds. He hated feeling trapped, like he couldn't escape. It didn't help that he could no longer see Jigen and Lupin, which immediately made him think he was alone.

Until warmth engulfed his hand, and he realized Goemon was still right next to him.

Feeling significantly more calm, Rabbit let out a huff of breath, glancing over at his lover. "Do you think they got trampled? Seems pretty likely to me."

Goemon nodded slightly, though Rabbit knew him well enough to know that he didn't genuinely believe it.

"Perhaps more likely, Lupin has been distracted by a woman and Jigen is just standing the middle of a group, waiting for a chance to slip away," Goemon said, looking over at Rabbit with a quirked eyebrow.

Knowing him, he was probably right.

"In that case, we should probably find our own way out of this crowd," Rabbit replied, tightening his grip on the samurai's hand before he started to navigate through the crowd.

Eventually, they safely made it out, even though Goemon had to pull Rabbit back a few times so they didn't lose each other. And even when they were free, their hands stayed together, until they found the other members of their group.

Holding hands in crowds became a habit after that.

Rabbit was slow and quiet when he got dressed that morning, listening intently to the voices in his living room. He figured Gallow was doing the same in the guest room. It wasn’t hard to break into Rabbit’s apartment, but normally he’d be warned.

His best guess as to why he didn’t get a call from the woman working at the counter was because these strangers hadn’t come in through the front door.

Once he was dressed in something that wasn’t that dress, he carefully opened his door, knife in hand, and made his way to the living room, only to be greeted by a band of thieves he hoped he’d never see again.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” he asked loudly, his voice making Lupin flinch and all three men look at him. “So it’s not enough to ruin the job I’ve been planning for months, you have to taint my personal space too?”

“Now that’s just rude,” was Lupin’s almost immediate response, even crossing his arms like an offended child would. “We just wanted to pay you a visit, is that so bad?”

“Generally, yeah,” Gallow spoke up next, coming up behind his older brother. “You broke into a thief’s apartment. That’s pretty shitty.” He was smart for taking Rabbit’s side.

Lupin let out a dramatic whine, going so far as to lay back on the couch he was seated on. His friends, Goemon and Jigen, didn’t say anything, but Jigen did have the audacity to try to light a cigarette.

“No smoking in my apartment. I have a sign and everything,” Rabbit told him as he snatched the awful thing away, tossing it in the trash can. Before Jigen could complain, he cut him off with, “If my own flesh and blood can’t smoke in here, neither can my newest trio of enemies.”

“Enemies!?” Lupin forced himself back into relevancy, faux heartbreak on his face and a hand on his chest. “Why, Rabbit, we simply want to be your friends!”

Rabbit stared at him like he was insane, leading Lupin to finally understand that he didn’t believe him.

“Oh, come now, last night was an accident! We didn’t even know you were there until Goemon found your stuff. It was supposed to go smoother but then you were there and your amor was there-” Lupin explained, not noticing Rabbit’s instantly tense form at the mention of his “amor”.

“We fully planned to be in and out,” Goemon spoke up, actually gaining Rabbit’s attention. He expected the samurai to sit there quietly, to be honest. “I was outside to be the getaway. I did not expect to find your bag there. I barely got the chance to warn Lupin.”

Rabbit let out a soft sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose as he processed what the fuck was going on. Truly, this was awful. Three famous people were in his living room, trying to get the same thing as him but for money. 

He was already planning how he was supposed to recover from this. The location of the third scarab was unknown to the public, he had to stalk the person moving it in order to find it. That was good, it meant there was no way Lupin and his gang knew where it was.

… Unless they followed him when he went to grab it. Which would mean he needed to take them out of the running before he went for it, to ensure there was no chance of them fucking it up.

“You sure got quiet fast,” a new voice spoke up; Jigen’s voice, he quickly realized. “Thinking about how to get rid of us?”

“You’ll be lucky if I don’t kill you to ensure the safety of the rest of the scarabs,” Rabbit replied without hesitation, moving his hand to gently bite down on his thumb nail. There was silence after that, before Gallow awkwardly cleared his throat.

Before Rabbit could ask why, his brother had him by the sleeve and was dragging him away, into the guest room. “Dude, I know you hate them for last night, but consider for a moment: they could help us.”

“No they can’t,” Rabbit immediately fired back, his voice a low hiss. “They’re disorganized and can’t roll with the punches. Didn’t you see what happened just from me existing? I haven’t been hurt on a job in years, years.”

He needed to wrap his wrist, now that he was thinking about it. It was throbbing in pain, but he refused to show it on his face. He was older, he needed to be stronger. Besides, he was a quick healer.

Gallow let out a sigh, glancing at the door. “Rabbit, he’s the best thief in the world. If anyone can help us get the scarabs, it’s Lupin and his crew! They can be helpful, and it stops them from getting in the way.”

“But we’re a duo, Gallow, we’re not a team,” Rabbit replied, practically pleading with his brother to drop it. “We don’t need them, we can do it ourselves. We already have the first one-!”

“You can’t be afraid of people forever, Rabbit,” Gallow cut him off, nothing but sympathy on his face. “Not everyone is out to hurt you. They can help. I’m going to let them. You should too.”

And with that, he left, gently closing the door behind him. Rabbit stayed a little longer, staring at one of the paintings on the wall. He’d never accepted help before. And working with Lupin’s gang would bring the ICPO down on them.

On the other hand… Lupin gets everything he sets his sights on, except when Fujiko Mine is involved, and then it’s a 50/50 chance. There was no doubt Fujiko would get involved, but her tricks wouldn’t work on two gay men.

Maybe… this wouldn’t be so bad.

Finally, he let a huff of a sigh escape him, and followed Gallow to the living room, where the gang was still waiting.

“Any of you like tea? I hate being a bad host,” he said, making his way to the kitchen. He didn’t wait for an answer, pulling down five mugs and filling his kettle up, before setting it down on the stove and dropping the tea leaves in.

That was when he returned, taking a moment to observe the group. 

Daisuke Jigen, the world’s greatest gunman, known for his perfect aim and his ability to almost never miss. He always covered his eyes with his trademark hat, but it never affected his sight. He would work well with Gallow.

Then there was Goemon Ishikawa XVIII. He was a samurai, and a descendent of the Ishikawa clan- a long line of thieves, according to Rabbit’s research. He always had his sword that could cut through everything it strikes by his side. A fellow bladesmen, Rabbit could use him.

And then there was Lupin III. Grandson of the master thief Arsene Lupin I. He stole everything he set his eyes on and was a master of solving puzzles. Incredibly smart, and incredibly weak to women. Annoying. But useful.

“I know the location of the third scarab, and Olivier will no doubt bring the second one to the same location as the fourth. If you help me, I will pay you, but you will not be selling the scarabs. They’ll be returned to Egypt where someone trusted will put them on display in a safe place.”

“You’ll be paid out of pocket, to put it simply. I don’t steal for money, I work for it, so don’t worry about that. I am in charge of this heist, plain and simple. Anything you bring up will be a suggestion at best, and will not be set in stone unless I think it can work. Understand? You are nothing more than temporary work partners.”

There was quiet for about a second, before Lupin grinned and gave him a goofy looking salute. “Aye, aye captain!” Wow. What a fucking freak.

Goemon and Jigen simply gave him a short nod, but since the cooperation seemed out of character, he would be keeping a close eye on them. “Jigen, get used to Gallow. He’s a damn good shot himself, and you two will be working together a lot.”

Jigen grumbled, but tilted his hat a little. “And Goemon, we both use blades, so I’d like you to stick with me. We can help each other a lot.” That got him a nod from the samurai, and then heard the kettle.

When he came back with the tea, Lupin looked expectant. He handed out the cups, set some sugar and cream down, and sighed.

“The vault is on a puzzle system. Lupin, I’ll need your brain.”

alright I just decided to look up an episode of the TMNT 2012 series because I vaguely remembered there being an episode with the baby turtles & I need me some cute found family feels in my life right now

then I just see this

so now I’m just sitting here like “hey I’ve actually watched the movie Yojimbo a while back & that’s a pretty neat reference to make” & I find out this is also a crossover episode with another comic character so now I’m intrigued because I didn’t realize this show did stuff like this (the fact that I’ve only watched a few episodes of season 1 might explain it)

and let me tell you, I was not prepared for how much this show had changed

i didn’t expect a lot of this from this show going back to it. i definitely need to finish these crossover episodes in addition to the Lone Rat episode. maybe i’ll watch the whole series. eventually. after i watch ROTTMNT.
