I wonder, for the mermaid au- what is kid's part to play with it all?

Alright, so on Eustass Kid in the Mermaid AU.

I thought about how best to answer this, and tbh, I’m going to say I unfortunately Don’t Know atm ^ ^; The AU parallels canon in a lot of ways, and while Kid has a growing role in Wano, he’s only appeared here and there up till then. And even IN Wano, up to the latest chapters, it’s a bit unclear how large a role he’ll play in the main storyline.

A few thoughts on the limited interactions we’ve had between him and Lu so far though:

-Kid is one of those who really, REALLY doesn’t give a flying fuck that Lu’s a girl and mermaid. He sees her as an equal and a rival, one he’ll have to shove out of his way so he can become Pirate King, the same as every single one of the other Supernovas. He does not treat her any differently from canon.

-As a result, they still absolutely bicker and compete over who can eat more and work harder at the Udon prison camp, while also being on the exact same wavelength to the point they can communicate nonverbally. And when nearby prisoners worry whether the pretty mermaid girl can handle the hard labor, Kid scoffs and says what a joke, she’d hardly be worthy of being his rival if she couldn’t handle a little rock smashing.

-But of course, even if Kid doesn’t see her as anything more or less than his equal pirate who’s gotten a step up on him by beating Doflamingo and pissing off Big Mom, that doesn’t mean others see her that way too.

-Kid’s not exactly the model of a pure moral compass and the thought of him acting as a white knight and Luffy being his damsel in distress gives him HIVES--But, when he hears prison guards making lewd comments about her, and mentioning maybe kneading some drugs into her dango, he does NOT take kindly to that. Straw Hat is HIS prey to beat up when they’re both at full strength, outsiders had better keep their fuckin’ meddling out of it!

-He is NOT concerned for Luffy or anything--Gross!--but perhaps, a few nights into their shared cell life, when he sees her teeth chattering in her sleep, looking a bit blue and curled into a tight ball in their shared stone cell...and perhaps, when he sees the prison guards leering at her exposed skin visible through her tattered kimono...perhaps he sits a little closer than is strictly necessary. So close, in fact, Straw Hat ends up underneath his fluffy feather cloak, pressed directly into his side, tucked under where his missing arm would have been. 

-Fuck, she really IS cold, is it a mer thing??

-Kid usually hates when someone other than Killer is close to his vulnerable side, especially when he’s got fuckin’ seastone cuffs on and can’t make himself a metal replacement arm. He tells himself this is really Weird and Uncomfortable, and that there’s certainly nothing Nice about having a definitely-not-really-actually-kinda-cute mermaid invading his personal space. Straw Hat is all muscle and scrawny limbs with bumps that are freakishly soft that Kid definitely doesn’t want to touch more, and her tail’s not at all slimy like he imagined and--Kid’s keeping his hand to himself. She’s also tiny compared to Kid, and looks misleadingly fragile, and Kid could easily scoop her up with his one hand to put her on his lap and he’d hardly feel a thing--Kid keeps his hand to himself.

-BUT, he’s not going to move either. This is HIS favorite spot in the stupid cell, he was here first, and if someone should move it’s gotta be Straw Hat, who has no right to look so comfortable smushed against someone as dangerous as Kid. Kid ain’t moving though, that would be losing, and he gives ground to no one. Kid nods at his own fine reasoning.

-And then morning comes and the prison guards come banging on their door to get them up to work, and Kid’s awake but doesn’t move until Luffy slowly emerges from his plumage like a tiny animal coming out from its burrow, rubbing her eyes and still definitely mostly out of it, her tail slowly unwinding from where it’d wrapped around Kid’s torso sometime during the night. Kid doesn’t miss its warmth. And then she blinks up at Kid, recognition sparking in her big eyes that are really awfully BIG now that Kid sees them at this hyper close range, what the fuck he can see all the flecks of brown and gold in them. But she doesn’t look particularly alarmed, not like she really should be in this situation, and instead just stretches and gently bumps her cheek against Kid’s chest with a quiet Mornin’ before sliding out of Kid’s cloak, like this is completely normal.

-Kid refuses to act disoriented while Luffy’s calm, because that sorta feels like losing. Losing what, he has no clue.

-They’re completely back to their usual during the day, and they both still eat dango until they look like fat hamsters. And Kid maybe notices fewer disgusting comments towards Luffy that day, and when he sees people looking at her and glares at them, they look away a lot faster than they did before. He doesn’t really care beyond thinking Good, the guards have actually begun to fear Kid like they should have from the beginning, until he overhears the guards who came to wake them that morning gossiping in a corner.

-Shit, they say. Turns out Straw Hat’s Eustass Kid’s woman.

-And Kid snorts because that’s both hilarious and outrageous, him and Straw Hat being together like that is absolutely absurd and disgusting--but hey, he’s a busy man. He’s not gonna go out of his way to correct the idiots, especially when it means less harassment directed at his oblivious rival. No, he doesn’t feel smug or satisfied, or a hint of a really weird, freaky warm feeling he doesn’t dare linger on. Nope.

-And at night they’re back in their cell, going to sleep in their respective Spots, and a few minutes later, Straw Hat’s snoring inside Kid’s cloak once more.

-(the thought crosses Kid’s mind that Straw Hat’s so casual about being snuggly because this is normal to her, and it actually bothers Kid a lot more than it has any right to. Maybe she actually does sleep next to someone every damn night? Is it her crew, like that fellow Supernova swordsman? Is it one of her brothers, that sadistic Revolutionary, or Portgas, who’s definitely somehow still alive and marines are stupid to think he’s not? Is it fuckin’ TRAFALGAR, the damn pirate who formed an alliance with her before Kid could???)

-(and when they’re out, maybe Killer notes that Kid’s eyes always seem to be tracking Luffy, and it’s not just heated rivalry in his gaze. Kid tells his partner to shut the fuck up and mind his own business, and then Killer cackles, his laughter genuine for once, and Kid can’t quite get himself to actually shut him up. No, he doesn’t wake up in the middle of the night missing a certain warmth at his side)

So here's the thing. I really really like Legosi x Haru. I dont usually prefer boy x girl ships but here i do. But BUT i also really like Legosi x Louis x Haru, i think thats such a cute ot3 and leaves a way more satisfying ending for Louis then what we got. So i dont exactly not ship Louis n Legosi, I do, I think they are great together and their reletionship is def amongst my fav in the series and they have so many great moments together (which one do you want to eat ;)) But i really really REALLY like Haru and I hate for her to be left out especially cuz her reletionship with Legosi is so cute and developed and they make such a nice couple. I love couples in which the girls is confident n bossy n expirienced n the boy is like '😍 my queen'. And Legosi n Haru is one of the rare ships that is like set to be obvious endgame but then actually also gets developed??? Like the writer doesnt just go 'shes a girl, hes a boy, they looked at each other, work done.' And their story doesnt end with them getting together but actually digs into problems established couples have!!! Imagine that!!! They talk about sex and sexual compatibility, about would they want children and how would that go, Legosi meets her parents, they think about wanting to get married and what they need to do to get there, they constantly worry about being good enough for one another. Funny how reletionship problems really only begin when the reletionship does. The story ends with them getting engaged! N its such a dumb thing fuckin haru asks legosi to marry her n he throws in a uno reverse and asks her to marry him fhdggj they are just so that! I love their dynamic

Writing is so weird for me to be so honest

Like I've been writing for as long as I can remember, fanfic shit before I even knew what fanfic was, me and my friend Sarah used to tell each other stories about our HP self insert OCs in like 5th grade. I have a whole plastic storage tub of notebooks filled with random fanfic and original writing going back to middle school. I'm 29. Some of those notebooks are old enough to vote.

And I've never finished anything lmao. Even stuff where I'm like "this is a oneshot!" I never considered really finished, because there's always some other connected idea.

Anyways I haven't shared any of my writing outside of like, posting things here on tumblr that I know only 3 specific people will read, since like. Before I joined the army??? I think?? Back when I was still using ff net lmao and it was like old Naruto and KH stuff and the one Yume Nikki fic I still wish I had finished, so like 8 years I think.

I hadn't even really been writing much at all this year, outside of a really self-indulgent Warden Surana/Warden Carver Hawke fic that never left my phone notes and will never see daylight bc it's just for me. And then I started replaying FE:A in July and realized I wanted to write about Inigo and Gerome, and I did it! I fuckin opened up my neglected AO3 and I spit out two chapters, and like 300 people read my story and I lost my mind! Three Hundred People! More than my damn high school graduating class. I never in my life would have thought 300 people would want to read my writing lmao

And then of course FE3H dropped and I was like. This is a new fandom, there's not a lot of content out for the ship I want to see, I have a small idea of something I would like to read, I should write it. I'm going to cook this food because the fandom is hungry. And my small idea wound up being a fucking 5k fic, my first smut fic ever, and today it got its hundredth bookmark. 100 fucking people read and bookmarked my horny fic in just one month. Two days after I posted that, I spit out a comedy fic that is currently THREE SHORT of FIVE HUNDRED kudos!!!! Five (5) hundred!!! Like, I'm Math Lady Meme over here trying to imagine 500 different individuals reading and enjoying something I wrote. That is TWICE my graduating class.

So of course, not satisfied with what I had produced, I went out and wrote a 6k fic of a rare pair that was basically entirely smut and the start of a series, because my brain is 100% on Clown Hours, and then made the second part a complete left-field crackpair, and people. Still love it. No one has come to end my life, no one has come with the torches my LJ and FFnet childhood promised. Instead they are praising me and I appreciate it but I still feel like a huge fool lmao!!

Like I'm so scared of negative feedback that I have literally stopped myself from writing things or sharing things for years, and in just one month of sharing things I have gotten so much positive response its overwhelming. I've seen my fics mentioned twice now in the wild while scrolling Twitter, by complete strangers. I bit the bullet and recced one of my fic to someone asking for my rare pair and people like it! I am pretty sure my first smut fic spawned a gift fic for someone else who commented they were interested in a rare OT3 I hinted at!

Anyways I've spent the last week alternately rereading everything I've written this month and going "fuck what the hell this is bile" or feeling like the Palpatine "Unlimited Power" gif even though this is the most attention and 'success' I've ever known in a fandom space, so. This is literally the most productive I've been with writing in years, I've put up 20k words on AO3 since the end of July and I still have like. 6 chapters of this story finished and waiting to be posted if I can just get the damn 2nd chapter out of the way and one of them, all by itself, is 4k. I've been writing like crazy lmao.

i assume this means the Rival characters right... i like komaeda and ouma. in my danganronpa rp server, i had my oc rob and also humiliate and cyberbully togami, and drew a squirtle on his stupid bald head because hagakure asked him to, so there’s that

entire sdr2 cast (except t*ruteru), most of the dr1 cast (hifumi is gross, i don’t honestly care either way about leon or sayaka, and for clarification i like togami as a character but dislike him as a person), most of the v3 cast (i haven’t actually played v3 yet and once i do it’s probably gonna be more like all of them or all of them except one. i do know the general plot and characters, it’s just that i get way more emotionally invested when i actually play the game)

i have multiple favourites but because it was the first one i thought of, i’m gonna give kudos to the third trial in sdr2. it was especially interesting because the murderer seemed obvious if you only took in the basic facts, but when you know what kind of person mikan is, it seems completely preposterous that she’d do such a thing-- which makes the solving of it all the more DELICIOUS... oh it was so good i loved it... the whole time i kept searching and searching for any answer other than mikan and coming up with nothing, and knowing that, i knew that it had to be her, but i couldn’t fathom the why and that alone was enough to keep me in doubt for ages... the very end when she starts to break down eliminated my doubt but my questions of “why” only increased tenfold and it made it even MORE delectable i fucking LOVE puzzle’s and mystery’s

i am physically incapable of summoning empathy for t*ruteru even with his sad backstory. i hope they tossed him in another volcano after the dr3 anime was over

i refuse to acknowledge the fandom for long enough to notice which characters are classified as underrated for the most part because i live in my own brain palace where i can love every character and that is all that matters. that being said, i think it is fairly obvious that hoshi from v3 is underrated just... factually speaking? people do not pay attention to him very much it seems but it also seems he is a good little man. i know little about him, but that is the technical definition of underrated, so that is my answer i guess

again i don’t know if he even IS overrated in the fandom but i think leon is kinda boring. i don’t hate him or even dislike him necessarily because i don’t... care enough about his character for that... i could probably be influenced by someone who is passionate about him, but right now he’s just kind of      existing

the most brutal and ultimately chilling? leon’s, by far. it was EXTREMELY well done and sets the tone for the game so well

and then there is only one that fills me with a sort of mysterious, enigmatic emotion-- very strong, but indescribable and neither positive nor negative. junko’s. really, junko in general elicits this emotion from me, she’s very interesting. what an excellent villain

since you don’t really Go Here I’ll try to provide a bit more background than I did with Naoya!

do I like them: yes, though I’m not gonna pretend he’s this super complex character or anything. Doesn’t stop him from being LOADS of fun, and having sick as fuck themes.

5 good qualities: Frieza is actually a very hard character to describe why I like so much, since unlike Naoya he’s not this extremely complex walking disaster of a human being, nor is he particularly unique. He’s a fairly standard evil overlord type, but the thing is that he works the role SO well. What makes him fun is that unlike, idk, the empire from Star Wars, he’s not an evil space fascist. No, he’s an evil space capitalist. He was literally based on the loan sharks that were profiting off the Japanese housing crisis. Except with planets. That’s like, the best concept for a shounen villain ever.A lot of it is just his overall aesthetic, though. I LOVE the bored arrogance he oozes most of the time, coupled with his sophisticated, polite mannerisms and the absolute bottomless terror he invokes in his subordinates at just the slightest hint of his wrath. Despite being, like, half their size? It’s great. He even has a motherfucking ojou laugh, my one weakness. He’s the type to let his minions do all the dirty work, but like you get the impression that he’s actually just that lazy. Most of his attacks only require him to lift a finger (and they’re still massively powerful), and he’s stated to have never actually trained a day in his life to get to where he is. Then when he gets serious and/or pissed off, he actually lives up to the hype and cleans house. Sure he usually spends too long flaunting his dominance or torturing his foes to actually snag victory, but still. So it’s like, sure he plays all the cliches straight, but they actually fit into his personality rather than existing just to be cliches. He’s simultaneously the most “human” (alien, but still) of the three main DBZ villains, but also the most genuinely evil. It’s fun as hell.Also, he’s had… actual character development lately? He’s not really any better of a person, but he’s more stable and less lazy. He’s kind of getting over his crippling gifted kid syndrome and showing that he’s surprisingly good at working with others with whom he shares a mutual goal. I’m curious to see where it goes and praying fervently that the writers don’t screw the pooch and throw it all away for no reason, or take it too far and try to shoehorn in a redemption arc.

3 bad qualities: He gets brought back too much, but more than that, he’s often not utilized correctly. I’m not talking about the Tournament of Power–the “fight alongside your worst enemies or you all die” angle was hella promising from the start. That was actually doing something new with the character, leading to the aforementioned character development. But like, bringing him back as a cyborg to get owned by Trunks, who then proceeded to do nothing for the rest of the arc? Having him come back as a ghost to be a shitty gag villain in filler/GT? Even Resurrection of F, to a lesser extent, failing to take him seriously as a threat despite nailing his personality so well. Everything between his famous fight against Goku and the Tournament of Power was just kind of samey, at best. Even during the tournament itself, aside from a couple high points, I get the feeling that the writers didn’t actually know what to do with him and kinda just kept him in the background until it was time for him to get owned or do Goku a solid. Which is a damn shame because he could have SINGLE HANDEDLY SOLVED DAMN NEAR EVERY PROBLEM IN THE ARC IF HE WAS ACTUALLY UTILIZED FULLY but that’s a rant for another day.

favourite episode/etc: MOTHERFUCKING EPISODE 95 OF SUPER. Oh my god this episode was SO good. It’s the first, and arguably last, time since Z that he’s handled any situation so competently and seemed like a genuine threat, and it was the perfect note on which to end the tournament recruitment sub-arc. Whoever wrote this episode nailed his personality PERFECTLY, and clearly had a blast doing so. Really the only problem is that this episode was SO good, and set up SO many good things to possibly happen later in the arc, that when none of it happened it was a major bummer. Frieza obtaining god ki and becoming a serious contender in the tournament, for starters, totally should have happened, and was set up PERFECTLY in this episode, but didn’t.

otp: for the longest time I didn’t HAVE any ships for him, really. Then the Tournament of Power brought us this, and I’ve been on the Frieza/Goku train ever since. ESPECIALLY after the finale.

brotp: Whis, through roleplay, is pretty funny, though they haven’t interacted extensively in canon. I’m also a fan of his banter with Cell in FighterZ.

ot3: Goku and Android 17, the MVP trio.

Too young for him to be really emotionally affected by its loss, but old enough for the image of the God of Destruction destroying an entire planet with just the power in his fingertips to be seared into his mind forever as the pinnacle of power.

First impression: Kinda dickish but I really liked his character design. And pretty funny tbh. I liked how Steven thought of them as bffs and Lars thought he was just some annoying kid. Ok ngl I just like dickish characters so I was always a fan of him from the start.

Impression now: I like his chara design even more now! He’s so pretty and aesthetically nice. He’s also developed a lot though. He is a lot more confident now, and becoming aware of and compassionate towards other people/gems. And he’s learning to embrace himself and to deal with new situations and environments. And hes making friends and suporting his new team. I am VERY proud of the pink boy. My fav side character. He’s up there now among my top 5, mayyyybe even top 3, charas in the show. 

Favorite moment: Prob during his big moment trying to save Steven. And then that binch fuckin died I can’t believe it. But now hes pretty pink so it all turned out good lol. Also the entirety of Lars of the Stars was a great episode. It even debuted MY birth gemstone, Emerald. 

Idea for a story: When he returns to earth, I think it would be funny if he was still kinda nervous to talk to the cool kids, despite having died, returned to life, become a space captain, met countless alien lifeforms, visited other planets, and fought battles throughout the galaxy. To be scared by something as trivial as being seen as a cool kid is pretty silly. But I think the cool kids would dig his new look and all his new space adventure stories. 

Unpopular opinion: idk if I have any unpopular opinions of him? I guess if anything, I liked him before he even got chara development? That was just a sweet surprise we got for him. Its not much of an opinion tho lol.

Favorite relationship: I love the dynamic between him and Steven (platonic, just to clarify lol). Steven is so optimistic and believes in everyone always. And Lars was always so pessimistic and trying to keep people out of his bubble. And now hes even happy to see see Steven and gave him a hug that was so adorable. Hes come so far I love it.

Favorite headcanon: Secretly a giant weeb. Considering, he used to be best friends with Ronaldo. AND the minute he was away from earth/other people he dressed himself up like Captain Harlock and became a space captain and started talking like a cheecky anime protagonist. 

Akira

First impression: Before I watched the Devilman series I was seeing it on here a lot. I assumed I would prob ot3 him with Ryo and Miki, considering how much I saw those 3. 

Impression now: HOLY SHIT that ending tho rip. That was one of the most insane endings I have seen in a while! Very emotionally captivating. Boy still was trying to make the best of that fucked up situation and create a little family of Devilmen for himself. I love that and support him fully. Ryo’s been kicked out of the ot3 for bad behavior. 

Favorite moment: His big emotional speech? And when the kids were coming up and hugging him? THAT was fantastic. 

Idea for a story: Akira, Miki, Miko, and all those rapper dudes get moved in a nicer, happier anime where nothing bad happens and they can just be happy and chill together like they deserve.

Unpopular opinion: I can’t ship Ryo/Akira until Ryo learns to behave himself. I don’t HATE it as a ship tho, and the pairing has some fantastic artists. So aesthetically yeah, but as a Good ship, no way ahaha. 

Favorite relationship: Akira/Miki/Miko

Favorite headcanon: Miki was never that into Akira as anything other than a friend before. But she was also a lowkey freak and into monster transformation stuff like Werewolves and Beast (from beauty and the beast) hence her interest in the devilman series within the show. So when she saw Akira and Miko in their Devilman forms she SCOREED

Eri

First impression: Poor baby who need to be rescued. I figured she would be more of a plot point, like Kota. 

Impression now: MY DAUGHTER. I love Eri. I adore this child. Shes such a sweet little baby despite all the terrible things done to her. I don’t think I’ve ever become so attached to the “helpless child” character type.

Favorite moment: That scene, with the cape. And it was like “a heros cape is to bundle up a child in pain”. That scene still hits me hard. Just the emotional impact of that.Turning such a mundane item, a hero’s cape, into such a powerful and protective and important thing.

Idea for a story: Eri gets a candied apple at the festival. She loves it and smiles for everyone. I go into cardiac arrest and die. 

Unpopular opinion: I don’t want her to restore Mirio’s quirk. Ever. I really want to see him become a great hero without it. Its also important within the context of the series, like a hero is about the quality of the person, not the quality of their quirk. 

Favorite relationship: Her and Mirio obv. I want her to grow up with him and share all her biggest life moments with him. Learning about herself, gaining her own sense of individuality, finding out what she loves, her first crush, birthdays, favorite movies, favorite books. Just everything. I need her to have someone to share these things with. 

Favorite headcanon: Shes gonna grow up to be very selfless and supportive and caring. Even if she doesn’t become a hero, which may be too intense for her, she’s gonna be a medic or something along those lines. She will want to help kids who have suffered, like she did, and help rehabilitate them into society.
