“A lot of people owe me favors,” Traysi says with a loose hand wave. “Got intel on Tabantha Frontier conditions from those mushroom hunters by the st—base of operations, made it to the bridge with half a day’s brisk power-walk, hitched a ride with this traveling band all the way to Outskirt Stable, took a quick break to interview them for a comeback story in the Gazette, and then promised a trio of Gerudo women free space in the personal ads if they’d escort me through the canyon. Not my preferred way to find a partner, but they seemed to like the idea of going hands-off with the whole courtship thing. Honestly, those gals seemed much more interested in the journey of finding a man than actually finding a man. If only my sister felt the same way—but nooooo, she says she’s in love, and now I have to tolerate Ponnick hanging around the stabl—base of operations, it is a base of operations, flirting all day like an imbecile while I’m editing down Penn’s alliterative headlines to the three per issue he’s permitted in his contract.” Traysi takes a deep breath, then raises an eyebrow at Link’s stiff posture. “What? I’m just telling you what happened.”

smallidarity highschool au

came up with this au like actually 2 years ago where it's mainly empires 2 smallidarity centric, with Jimmy as a student council member and Joel as an honours student who doesn't like the way Jimmy runs things around the school.

As payback for the regulations Jimmy put up that Joel thought was stupid, Joel does these elaborate 'The Office' style pranks on Jimmy (specifically) while Jimmy retaliates by trying his best to dig up dirt on Joel. This banter goes on for a while— however Joel ends up doing the pranks less as a statement, and instead more just to see how Jimmy would react... with his comical, cartoony villain yells, and... weirdly cute face....? (YAOI YAOI YAOI YAOI)

as a huge unreliable narrator enjoyer i love the fact that the raven tower is narrated by someone who cannot lie. so the narration is not unreliable, and any kind of uncertainty is always couched in "here is a story i have heard" or "i imagine", but it scratches the same itch as unreliable narration because the evidentiality of the narration is still so central, just in the opposite way. stories that don't care about where the narrator is getting their information or what biases are present in the way that information is shared with us are on one end of a spectrum, and stories that do care about those things are on the other end, and the raven tower is firmly situated alongside the unreliably narrated stories even though the whole point is that the narrator is as motivated as it is possible to be to never say something that is untrue. and it's fascinating to see how ann leckie manages to build suspense and subvert expectations without really at any point deliberately misleading the reader. every time i reread one of her books, the bouncing of the dvd screensaver in my brain gets a little more frenetic. how does she do what she does. ann leckie what is your secret.

Pixal still existing, Kai having screen time again, and finally acknowledging Lloyd is the grandson of God? This is too much power. One has not ever dared get their hopes up in Ninjago, not for anything.

And they're gonna be the death of me specifically, because now the chances that they'll acknowledge Lloyd's dragon heritage aren't at zero anymore.

He’s looking at Eddie, and he’s so close, and so- so handsome, and his lips are right there, and- And Buck is remembering everything Karen and Hen said, and thinking about how he can’t just move on and forget about what happened. He can’t let himself go there, not yet, but Eddie is- He thinks Eddie’s hot, that much is obvious. He did sleep with the guy. But he’s scared to take a closer look at his actual feelings. Not when there’s still Taylor to think about. No, wait, he’s made his decision, he- he needs to stop. So he shakes himself out of it, and just as he’s about to turn to the TV, Eddie turns his head towards him, and, oh, he’s closer than Buck thought.

“You okay?” he asks with a small frown.

“Uh-” Buck’s eyes involuntarily drop to Eddie’s lips. Shit, no, what is he doing? “Yeah, no, I’m fine.”

“Buck.” Eddie huffs out a breath. “You’re thinking so hard I can almost hear it.” he adds with amusement.

“It’s nothing.” Buck shakes his head, and then- then he leans closer to Eddie, involuntarily, as if pulled by some invisible string. What is he doing? “I don’t know, this is all-” he scoffs, “I made quite a mess, didn’t I?”

“Oh.” Eddie’s eyes widen. “Oh, are we- are we finally talking about this?” he asks, and the thing is, they did talk, a little bit, that day Eddie asked him to hang out again, but they never really discussed everything. Like feelings, and why it all happened, and what’s next, and Eddie- Eddie said he’d wait until Buck decides. He did. He thought he did.

“I don’t know. I don’t- I don’t really feel like talking.” he whispers, and doesn’t think about it when he kisses Eddie

If he’d come just to tell her off, he’d done a right good job of bursting through her tenuously decent mood. She expected him to lumber off back to the castle, proud of himself for yelling at a stupid little first year. But he didn’t. He dithered for a moment. Then he said, “I’ve seen yeh out on the grounds all day. Yeh must be cold.” Again, Aquila said nothing. She wondered what he was playing at. “Come ‘ere,” Hagrid said, beckoning her away from the water. “Let’s get yeh warm, eh?”

FFXIV WRITE 2024 DAY 24: BAR

“You Ishgardians and your salt.”

Estinien rolls his eyes. “That has nothing to do with this. It’s how I was told they do it here.”

“All right, all right,” Cimorene allows, still grinning. “I ‘start with the salt’ and then what, exactly?”

“Like this.” Methodically, like this is him teaching her lance work and not how to ‘properly’ take a shot of alcohol, her lover licks the back of his hand, then takes the receptacle of salt at the bar and applies some to the damp spot. He then licks it off and quickly downs the clear liquor. Finally, he takes the wedge of lime that has been provided by the bartender with the tequila and bites into it - then, setting it aside he sits back and looks at her somewhere between expectant and smug.

She blinks. “So… how often have you done this since you got here?”

Estinien laughs. “A bit.”

“Mhmm.”

“And I knew right away that you’d like it.” He nudges the salt to her and her set up of drink and lime wedge. “Try.”

Cimorene narrows her eyes for a moment, but if there’s anyone that she won’t say no to a challenge from, it’s him. It’s always been him. She shrugs.

She follows his demonstration as best she can, but she’s overeager for having not done this before, trying to match his speed. She chokes a bit on the tequila - and she never struggles with liquor - but she’s able to swallow and gets her teeth around the lime, sucking on it while she finishes regaining her composure.

It is good, she’ll admit. The whole process is a little convoluted but it’s fun. She likes when drinking isn’t just for getting drunk.

Estinien has been watching her closely and correctly reads her reaction, holding up to fingers to the bartender. Another one for each of them. Wiping the corners of her mouth, she grins.

“We should have Alphinaud try this.”

Estinien laughs one of his rare, full-bodied laughs. The kind where he actually throws his head back. The kind she is always so proud of herself for getting. “Another time.”
