ok ok to start i LOVE him so much as a foil to dipper (and to an extent ford too) as examples of what the journals/that kind of power and information can do to people. its why im so adamant that he does actually have albinism, even if its not Technically Canon. dipper and ford both have a like, 'physical oddity' about them (birthmark, sixth finger) i think it makes sense for gideons to be his albinism as something that set him apart. all three are 'weirdos', were ostracised to an extent by the world, had that longing for something special or important, and then found it. and its what they DO with that which sets them apart

especially as a foil to dipper like... from time to time in the show, he gets a bit gung-ho about abusing the journals power for his own gain. but he has friends and family to reign him back in. he has more of a moral compass about not wanting to hurt people, generally. dipper never became like gideon did

this is getting into headcanon territory here but, my general summary of gideons childhood is an isolated one. only child, fairly sheltered, had some medical complications early in life which led to a lot of time on his own in hospital, attended school briefly and was subjected to significant bullying. and without a real support network outside of his parents who were very doting to the point of spoiling him because hes their Little Miracle he wasnt exactly well-adjusted even as a kid

but basically, that kid ends up finding this journal and learns about spells and evil artifacts and suddenly he has the power to make people like him. not only that but Fear him. he goes from feeling powerless to an absolute ego-trip. and his only close relatives would never tell their little boy 'no' about something, so they're not disciplining him in any way. its a perfect storm for a disaster to happen

it stems from this childish desire to go 'look at me im important and special and everyone likes me' and hes become so embittered already by people being dicks that he doesnt care if he hurts people on the way

that only really changes when mabel shows up and is the first person in town to approach him from a like... normal level. shes nice to him but not in the overly-saccharine and doting way his fans are, just in the way a girl who wants to be friends is. she treats him normally and is nice and he thinks she's pretty and that ALSO becomes a perfect storm of 'well shes nice to me and i like her so i must be in love with her and she is with me!' and, of course. kid who has never heard the word No before. so the later rejection becomes a HUGE sticking point and grudge to the point of being flat-out murderous

later in life with a little Introspection i think he'd realize it was less love and more just. basically imprinting on the first person to be normal and kind at him in years

Sometimes I remember the promise I made in a TikTok coment section to write a fix-it fic about ROTT but it doesn't fix anything and instead when Jim goes back in time everything goes horribly wrong.

Toby is the Trollhunter and everything is pretty much the same but since jim is now in the "sidekick" position he doesn't really have a lot of credibility on stuff. Passing his knowledge on as "gut-instinct" doesn't really work since he's NOT THE TROLLHUNTER. There's a lot of arguements because join does NOT want Toby to do that shit because he's scared something might happen(remember he literally watched him die and there's all the trauma from when he WAS the trollhunter). Blinky would treat jim how he treats Toby at the start of the original timeline, maybe even worse because WHY is this 16 year old fleshbag arguing with him over things he cannot possibly know. AND NOT TO MENTION STRICKLER?? HOW WILL HE EXPLAIN THAT NO YOU CAN'T KILL THE CHANGELING. Toby doesnt have that connection to strickler so the only way for him to not be killed on site is for jim to sabotage something(this of course if not helping the fact that trollmarket thinks that jim and Toby are changelings) Claire still joins the gang but she is DEAD set on rescuing her brother and Toby is fully supportive of that but the trolls aren't. So they try to go into the darklands on their own but Jim being the traumatized bean he is absolutely refuses and an arguement breaks out again. Claire is pissed because from her perspective he's stopping her from saving her brother. He's the only thing stopping her from saving her brother. And from Toby's perspective jim is once again underestimating him even after everything theyve been through. Jim is already in a bad spot with him being the overprotective and arguementative sidekick and siding WITH A CHANGELING. He can't even defend his actions because the future is "His burden to bear." Even after the arguement gets broken up the tension is HIGH. Toby and Claire start avoiding him at school for a while and when they do interact it is OBVIOUS something went down. And Claire being friends with Mary, (yk mary wang. The popular girl who likes attention and is also an influencer and-) rumors start. And this is not going well for jim. And you just KNOW rumors will reach Claires mom. So basically the rumors spread like wildfire and you know how rumors are THEY'RE TWIZZLERS IN A WHIRLPOOL.

Jim now has a reputation in Arcadia Oaks but no one actually knows why he has the reputation since the rumors being spread are all different, they just know it's Bad™.

He also has a reputation in Heartstone Trollmarket for being more of a nut than blinky, potentially being a changeling, having nearly no manners(he HAS argued with vendel and others while NOT BEING THE TROLLHUNTER), and there is Strange™ shit revolving around him.

He cant read you, and whenver your around it feels like your taking his control away from him and it frustrates him. He doesnt want to give you the satisfaction of watching him break but he eventually has to cave in at some point, especially as your methods to watch his facade crumble get more and more extreme.

I wanted lucanis to fumble interacting with others i wanted him to act like a man who has been imprisoned for an entire year and has had a demon stuck inside him and doesnt know how to act accordingly and sometimes lashes out and says mean things without really meaning/thinking them just like how fenris would lash out (remember the argument u could get into with him because he assumed things abt orana and u employing her?). I wanted the culmination of his romance to be equal in drama as its set up and expectations, i wanted to feel like what i had done for him mattered in one way or another, that my rook taking a chance on him and believing in him when others wouldnt would mean something to him but it just doesnt feel that way because in the end, he acts closer to the other companions at times than he ever does rook (multiple meet ups with bellara/neve/harding offscreen, the bookclub, going to neve's room himself to offer her comfort over minrathous, offering harding comfort abt her upbringing, inviting davrin to drink with him).

I just. wanted so much from his romance and all it really did was make me miss fenris instead....

Ah okay yes so! I haven't finished the whole book yet but I have doubts it would come up again anywhere else-- overall I've greatly enjoyed it except ONE THING really left me feeling disappointed and kind of confused, and it's (idk what numbers because the pages aren't numbered..?) the first 2 pages of bills backstory, which is before he left/destroyed his home world. I was very much hoping the book would dive deeper into the flatland-esque lore that's been hinted at both in the show and the bill ama that follows the og flatland idea that more sides = higher in society etc, which would imply Bill was one of the more subjugated shapes, and while I can't remember far enough back to the ama about where the 3D dimension came in, it's probably safe to say him breaking into it (be it by intrinsic power he had or power he obtained somehow) was a way he would become a higher being. I found it strange that in the tbob, they story just seems to be that Bill was a normal dude everyone liked, his sight into the 3rd dimension was merely incidental, and like accidentally destroyed the world in the process? Which like, maybe the argument that could be made here is that Bill wrote it and he's lying, which I could believe maybe for the second half perhaps pretending he can't exactly remember what happened or something. But why would he lie about the first part, if in the past he already alluded to how he was seen as lesser in his home world? and wouldn't it only be MORE convincing to make the reader of the book trust him if he were to be truthful about the sad aspect to his past where he was mistreated, because that's obviously something everyone can empathize with? It's strange, it reads to me more like a word of God choice ....but why?

if not for the first time, then a refresher i think the treatment of women in Society and bill's interaction with them is a major highlight in the book; like his interaction with women is a much bigger focus in a way that feels tied to how much hes downplaying the destruction of reality and also his interaction with men as well and what we can extrapolate from like the victorian style culture the book presents but, like entering a space where its intentional and not just an author wiggling material about into a different shape , i think bill's goal with like the narrative crafting is showing the potential Next Guy that hes a really cool dude you want to party with him hes hypemanning himself, like i think it speaks to like the driving force behind his actions and the function/purpose this book really has that he doesnt not even think to play up the victim and crank up the sob story for the reader

keith! the throwaway name in tdpi to you; but to me he's an actual character

younger me is screaming rn, ever since i watched tdpi when it came out, i was super interested in keith as a character (and his dynamics with sky, and with dave)!! finally here we are, some picrews of what i think he looks like & some basic info! (cant do the 16-slide presentation with him rn like i did with gabriel 😔 but maybe i will in the future!)

here's a fic abt him! (plus i do have an rr au idea with him in my drafts)

-> keith is exceptional in almost any sport he puts his mind to! his favorites are baseball and basketball though. he met sky through a school game and they bonded over their love of athletics!

-> keith never rlly considered sports as a career, he's always default thought of it as a hobby. sky was the one who wanted to take her skills farther, and he did support her for it

-> their shakiness started when sky brought up auditioning for tdpi. keith has heard the shit that happens in many reality shows and worried for her, saying they could try another solution. they argued, sky signed up for tdpi (she said she'll miss him in the audition bc he was filming and it was sort of as a 'im sorry for the fights pls try to understand' thing). however, despite keith trying to understand, he didn't watch any of tdpi until the finale episode

-> as a loyal person in relationships, keith was extremely hurt and upset by sky kissing dave and then leading him on. it made him feel quite worthless, and despite any reconciliations, he knows he can't ever trust her again

-> he doesnt like dave bc the guy went ballistic and put sky's life in harm's way, he considers that a bit of an overreaction on dave's end and he does resent him for believing he played a part in sky falling for him

-> this guy places trust to a high degree, if you break it, you're seeing a different keith

-> he's the type to maybe be good/proficient at chess. might have him be good at it actually!

-> he and sky are both bisexual. sky is bi with a preference for women; keith is bi but used to pretend he was straight due to the environment he lived in

-> sky and keith's relationship tropes: friends to lovers, mutual respect for each other, relationship for convenience

-> in actuality, sky & keith's relationship is more of a friendship. they only made it like they're dating bc of their families, and when their individual sexuality crisis came up, that caused some issues. prior to tdpi, sky already had a feeling she liked women, but she kept it to herself; keith, for his part, already was aware of his bisexuality when he and sky started dating but he thought their relationship would "get rid of it". in the end, sky got the courage to push aside the veil in front of their relationship first (hence the dave moments), and keith tried to hide behind their relationship bc he didn't know if he had the guts to confront the implications

-> keith's fully ready to confront/fight anyone who gives him bad vibes and isn't afraid to show that--all except for his father (the man gave this guy too much trauma for that)

-> he got his piercings as a nonverbal 'eff you' to the old keith he used to be. back when he was worried abt his parents judgements and his friends. before tdpi, before sky and his breakup, before he made an effort to come into his real self

-> his mum and he have a complicated relationship. she's low-key homophobic at times that he cant get a proper read on her. but he does love her (def more than he does his dad), and he hopes she's willing to accept him

-> has heterochromia; one eye is dark blue, the other is light hazel (he tends to wear contacts, making it seem like he has two blue eyes)

-> he shaved part of the side of his head in a fit of impulsiveness at a concert with several friends, but then he realized he looks good in it and he likes the style, so he kept it that way

-> the type to wear sweatshirts/shirts/hoodies with lowkey memes on them (as shown in the pics with him wearing the orange hoodie with the two fingers almost touching)

-> he and sky were the epitome of 'what we have is better off as a wonderful friendship than a romantic relationship'

-> he and sky tended to help each other sports-wise in various ways; like she'd play scrimmages with him, and he'd race hurdles with her. this helps both of them grow and bond at the same time. it's a fun pastime they both enjoyed and feel nostalgic for now

-> clothing style: the stuff in the pics, along with jeans (not rlly baggy jeans though) along with sports sneakers or light brown hiking boots

-> one time sky twisted her ankle and refused to get help, and keith had to literally piggy-back her to his car bc she said she "can just walk it of, its fine!"

-> strong emotionally/mentally/physically. more so abt the first two, he's good at hiding his feelings bc of the environment he grew up in and his family (his dad more so). if he and dave ever have a heart-to-heart they can discuss their shitty father figures and how that lack impacted them lmao (the dave in my head has a shitty and distant father)

-> this also makes him more suppressed emotionally and more uncommunicative

Now Ive been led astray by my gut feeling many many times before when it comes to minecraft roleplay but i just have this feeling that q!fit isnt going to be as badly affected by the corpse hole as we thought.

Like on a meta note i really can’t see cc!fitmc doing long depressing rp, it just doesnt feel like his style. The closest id say weve gotten was the off putting vibes during the march 12th stream but even that had moments of levity.

And on a more lore wise note, the whole reason madagio recruited him is because he has “The ability to resist both madness and toxicity.” (His words not mine). This isnt the first time q!fit has gotten attached and lost those attachments. He had multiple factions he was apart of during different time periods on 2b2t, people he even called his friends and he has left/been betrayed by them before and come out of it. Yes it was rough and he was definitely affected by it but never broken.

But on the other hand, those attachments were never to the level of the ones he has now and i wonder if the whole point of telling us madagio’s reasoning was to set up a sort of “everybody has a breaking point” plot line instead of establishing a strength.

To me it feels like theirs no real way to predict what will happen on that next qsmp stream but i just have a feeling that we’re jumping too quickly to the most angsty scenarios

i honestly don’t know which way ccfit is going to take the lore (like is ramon’s ‘deep sleep’ going to affect it?) as there’s strong arguments for both sides - depressed arc and happy go lucky arc - and honestly i kinda love that we don’t know, makes it more exciting!
