John and I packed some things and left to meet Jaha at the Dropship. John was determined to get us to the city of light. He wanted us to have a life without judgement. I was mostly curious to see if it’s real or just a rumor like everyone says it is. I thought about Lexa a lot during our trek. I understood why she left me in the mountain, but if she found out that I was weak and fell in love she would kill me. 

“Sir, do you recognize anything?” One of the guys asked. 

“The tent was near here. I’m sure of it.” Jaha answered and I rolled my eyes. 

“Yeah right, it’s all just sand.” I mumbled and John sighed. 

“What’s the matter? You guys got some place better to be?” John asked as he pulled me along. 

“You have a point.” I sighed and he smirked. He stopped by Jaha and looked around. 

“You see anyone?” He asked. Jaha walked towards the wagon. 

“Bak op o ai na frag yu!” (Stay back or I’ll kill you!) A woman said and jumped up with a knife. 

“We mean you no harm.” Jaha said and John held me behind him. 

“Do you speak English?” Jaha asked. 

“What do you want?” The girl asked. 

“Nothing. It looks like you could use a hand. What are you doing out here along?” He asked and I looked around, something didn’t seem right. 

“My brother and I were on our way to the City of Light… when Wastelanders attacked.” She said, removing her face mask. 

“They took our horse. All our water, everything. They killed him. This cart is all I have left.” She answered. 

“Give her some water.” Jaha said and John started taking his bag off. 

“No, no, no. We barely have enough for ourselves here.” One of the men said. 

“Touch me again and I’ll end you.” John threatened, but I held him back. 

“I don’t trust her.” I whispered. 

“You don’t trust anyone babe.” He said and pulled me along. John pulled his water bottle out and handed it to her. 

“It’s okay.” He said and I kept my eyes narrowed at her. She took it and desperately drank it. 

“We’re on our way to the City of Light as well. What’s your name?” Jaha asked and I looked at him with wide eyes. 

“Emori.” She answered and I looked back at her. 

“Everyone in the Dead Zone is looking for the City of Light. Almost no one finds it. I can get you there.” She said and that’s when I noticed her covered hand. She’s one of the freaks… 

“If you pull my cart.” She added. 

“Done.” Jaha said and I gripped John’s arm. 

“We can’t trust her.” I whispered. 

“Caspian, you’re on the first shift!” Jaha shouted. 

“Then just trust me.” He whispered. 

“Thanks for the water.” She said, handing the water back to him. 

“It’s uh- It was no problem.” John said and I narrowed my eyes at her. All of us were walking through the Dead Zone, pulling Emori’s cart. 

“So I gotta ask, what made you ditch your home and risk your life to cross the beach from hell?” John asked her. I was walking ahead of them because I didn’t want to be near her. 

“It doesn’t matter.” She answered. 

“Come on, take my mind off all the fun we’re having.” John said in his usual sarcastic tone, making me smirk slightly. 

“It wasn’t my decision to leave.” She answered and I perked up slightly. 

“Kicked out? Okay, now I’m interested. What did you do?” He asked. 

“If I told you, you would not look at me the same.” She said. 

“Maybe. Then again, I might surprise you.” He said and I glared slightly. 

“What about you? How did you end up in the Dead Zone?” She asked him. 

“I could tell you the gory details, but since you’re one of the few people on this planet who doesn’t hate me at the moment, I don’t think I wanna blow it.” He answered and I felt my heart break slightly. 

“Now I’m interested.” She said with an obvious flirty tone. 

“Okay, you really wanna know? I killed two people. Tried to kill two more. I had my reasons, but nobody cared. I’m the bad guy.” He said and I frowned. 

“Told you I’d blow it.” He said after a moment. I looked back and saw she was showing him her hand. It was mutated. 

“My people saw me as a stain in the bloodline, something to erase. 

“Then screw them.” John said and I looked at him with a furrowed brow. 

“I wouldn’t cover it up. I think it’s pretty badass.” He said and my eyes widened slightly. 

“Ai don get in yu were won kom emo.” (I knew you were one of them.) I growled, walking up to them. Emori took out her knife and I took out one of my swords. 

“Y/N! Stop!” John said and Emori’s eyes widened. 

“Yu laik Heda’s ait meika?” (You’re the commander’s right hand?) she asked, still holding her knife to protect herself. 

“Yu beda na stedaunon!” (You should be dead!) I growled and went to go attack her, but John stopped me. 

“Calm down Y/N!” He said holding me close to him. 

“Let me go John!” I growled. 

“No, not until you tell me why the hell you’re attacking her.” He said. 

“She’s one of those freaks! Heda said they die.” I said. 

“You’re not with Lexa anymore. She left you to die, remember? She left you with Cage.” He said and I shuddered. 

“Don’t you dare mention that name!” I said and shoved him away from me. I could feel tears well in my eyes as the memories that didn’t happen that long again resurfaced. 

“Come here.” He said and pulled me to him, taking my sword from my hand and put it in its sheath. 

“For Heda’s right hand, you’re weak.” Emori said and I glared at her. 

“I’ll show you weak!” I shouted, just John pulled me back. 

“She’s been through a lot recently.” He said and pulled me away. 

“Don’t kill her, for me.” He said and I narrowed my eyes at him. 

“Why? So you can flirt with her more?” I spat. 

“What? I wasn’t-” 

“Save it.” I cut him off and walked off. 

Now it was Jaha, John, Emori, and I pulling her damn cart. It was hot, and hard to pull the cart through the sand. I was still annoyed at John for flirting with her and then lying about it, so we weren’t speaking right now. 

“Dei de’s far pleni!” (That’s far enough!) A man on a horse said, holding a large gun. 

“Chancellor, look out!” The guards shouted and held their guns at the ready. 

“Non gon mov!” (Nobody move!) He shouted. 

“Hold your fire!” Jaha said and Emori grabbed John and held a knife to his throat. 

“Wait!” John said as she pulled him along. I pulled my sword out and was ready to kill her and the asshole on the horse. 

“Everybody, put your weapons and supplies in the cart and nobody gets hurt.” She said. 

“Natrona! Heda was ait hashta bilaik kind!” (Traitor! The Commander was right about your kind!) I growled.

“En em looks like Heda was wrong hashta yu.” (And it looks like The Commander was wrong about you) She said with a smirk. 

“If we give you our supplies, we’ll all die out here.” Jaha said. 

“If you don’t you’ll die right here.” She said. 

“Say the word and I’ll kill her before he could even think about pulling the trigger.” I growled. 

“No, do as she says, now.” Jaha said. Everyone put their stuff in the cart but me. 

“Dula op em don eni techin?” (Do they have any technology?) The man on the horse asked. 

“Oso’ll dig au.” (We’ll find out.) She called back. 

“How’s your faith holding up, Chancellor?” John asked. 

“Shut up.” She said. 

“Unwavering.” He answered. 

“You don’t want to do this.” He said walking towards her and I rolled my eyes. 

“Stop walking.” She said. 

“We all came out here searching for a better life, same as you. Maybe we can find it, if we work together.” He said. 

“She’s not to be trusted.” I growled. 

“Shut up Y/N.” John said and I narrowed my eyes more. 

“Thanks. But no.” She said. 

“Emori, hos op!” (Emori, hurry up!) The man shouted. 

“Now, Y/N put your stuff in the cart and everyone back away and get on your knees!” She shouted. 

“Do as she says Y/N.” John said. 

“Fine.” I growled and put my things in the cart and backed away with everyone else, also getting on my knees. She turned and put John on his knees as well. 

“What a surprise, you’re just like everyone else.” He said. She whispered something in his ear and I glared at her. 

“Good luck, John.” She said then knocked him out. 

As soon as they left I rushed to John’s side. It was getting dark and we decided not to move until he woke up. 

“John.” I whispered, trying to wake him once again. 

“Come on John, we need to get going.” I whispered. John coughed and reached for his head. 

“There, he’s up. It’s about time.” Caspian said. 

“Quiet, Caspian.” Jaha said. 

“Are you alright?” Jaha asked and I helped him stand up. 

“If he’s not, we’re leaving him here. His little girlfriend too.” Caspian said and I glared at him. 

“Say another word and I’ll kill you.” I growled. 

“Easy Y/N, I’m okay.” He said. 

“It’s time to go home.” Caspian said and Jaha looked at him. 

“And where exactly is that?” He asked. 

“Sir, I know you’re trying to take us to a better place, but look around. We’ve got no food, we’ve got no water, and no idea how to find it.” Caspian said. 

“Due North.” John said and we looked at him confused. 

“She said due North.” He added and I rolled my eyes. 

“What is due North, John?” Jaha asked. 

“She was talking about the City of Light.” He answered and I scoffed. 

“Did she say that?” Caspian asked. 

“No.” He answered. 

“Doesn’t matter what she said, we can’t trust her!” I said. 

“Did she say how far due North?” Jaha asked. 

“No, she didn’t, but she wouldn’t be sending us there if we couldn’t make it.” He said. 

“You honestly want to trust the bitch that just stole all our stuff?” I asked. 

“Sir, I really hope you are not considering this.” Caspian said. 

“John, we have no weapons and no rations. If we go North and you’re wrong, then all of us will die. If we turn back now, we live.” Jaha said. 

“So that’s it? We’ve reached the point of no return? You wanna give up?” John asked. 

“I didn’t say that.” Jaha said. 

“You didn’t not say it either.” He said. 

“That is the North Star.” Jaha said pointing up at the sky. 

“After you.” He said and motioned for John to go first. John looked at me. 

“You coming?” He asked and I sighed. 

“You’re lucky I lo- I mean yeah.” I said and grabbed his arm, heading North. My cheeks were heating up as we walked away from the group. 

“The rest of you need to decide for yourselves, but either way, we’ll come back for you when we find it.” Jaha said. 

“Sir? This is a mistake! You’re not gonna find it! You’re not gonna make it!” Caspian shouted. 

“So… What was that you were about to say?” John asked walking backwards in front of me with a smirk. 

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I said, obviously playing dumb. 

“Really? Because I think you were about to say the L word.” He said, his smirk growing. 

“I couldn’t even if I wanted to.” I said and he furrowed his brows. 

“I believe this is what they call having faith, John.” Jaha said, catching up to us as we climbed the hill. 

“Faith? Nah, we just have nothing better to do, right Y/N?” He asked me and I bit my lip. 

“I suppose so.” I said and walked ahead of them. I can’t believe I almost  told John I loved him! I could never say that to him, otherwise I would be weak and I will not be weak again.

I sit in the bar and throw back another shot. My hunt didn't go as planned. Lost a friend and good hunter. Well, he wasn't that great of a hunter, but still. He didn't deserve to go out that way. May he rest in peace. Now to go back to Cheyenne, and tell his wife. I throw back another shot.

The door to bar opens and I feel the cool evening breeze. Out of habit, I look towards the door to see who is walking in. That's when I see him walk in. The red shirt he wears stands out more than anything in this bar. The way he runs his hands through his short hair makes me catch my breath. The way his body moves around, I instantly know he's a hunter. But not just any hunter, this is a Winchester.

He looks around the bar as if he's looking for someone. Even from across the bar, I can see his green eyes flutter this way and that. I have never seen green eyes like that. So bright and that they look almost fake. When he doesn't find or see what he's looking for he makes his way to the bar. He takes a seat a few seats away from me and orders a beer. He takes a couple glances around and those green eyes land on me. With a small smirk, he winks at me.

Quickly looking away, I order a few more rounds of shots. When the small drinks are placed in front of me, I shoot back the golden brown drink. I can still feel his eyes on me. A quick sideways glance, I see that he has turns part of his body towards me. I look away and shoot back that last three shots. I start to slip out of my chair and when I look up I see him standing right there. Beer bottle in hand.

How did he get here so fast? I wonder. I mean, I've heard stories about the Winchesters, so I'm not going to doubt anything at this point. "Sorry," I try to move pass him but his green eyes hold me there.

"Have we met?" His deep rough voice suddenly has my brain sending signal all the way down to my core. Fuck, the sound of his voice was almost better than the whiskey I just shot. I mean, this could be the alcohol talking too.

"I wouldn't forget you if we had." Did I really say that out loud? Yep, I'm an ass who will most likely regret this in the morning.

He chuckles which makes me wish I had my legs crossed. Fuck. I'm starting to feel the ache and pulling in between my legs. I knew I had to get out of here. Silent rule between us female hunters: Never sleep with a Winchester. If you do, don't get attached because those Winchester men are a love them in the moment kind of man. Then they are gone without a word the next morning.

"Good one," His smile lingers on his too perfect face. "I'm Dean Winchester." He stretches his free hand out.

"Figures. I've of heard of you," my hand, having a mind of its own, takes it and shakes it. "I'm YN YLN."

Dean Winchesters smile gets a bit bigger. He sits in the empty chair by him and without thinking, I do the same. I make sure I cross my legs too. "I've heard of you, too." Damn it, his voice really needs to stop doing that. I squeeze my legs tighter together. "Word on the street is that you're a badass hunter with a tongue who takes and gives no fucks."

"Is that what they're saying about me?" I chuckle and look down. "I get the job done. That's all."

For the next two hours we talk. We exchange some of our hunting stories. He has saved the world a several times and lives up to the stories I've heard from other hunters. As we talk, He drinks and I chug water and snack on some crappy bar fries. Before the clock hits ten, I get up out of my seat and tell him I gotta get back to my motel and get some sleep.

"Do you need a lift?" Deans voice, sexy as it is, is a bit slurry.

"No, It's just around the block," I say.

"Don't like it," He gets up and throws cash onto the bar counter. He takes keys out of his pocket and shakes them. "I'll take you back."

I smile and can't help but feel the tightness in my core. It's practically screaming right now. "I'm a big girl," I say remember that silent rule.

"I'm afraid I have to insist, sweetheart," He gently takes my arm and hooks it around his and walks me out. "You never know what sick bastard wants to get his hands on a beautiful thing like you. Hunter or not, you could get hurt."

So I let Dean Winchester take me back to my motel room.

Sitting in the parking lot in front of my room, we talk a little bit more. I haven't talked that much to just one person before. I have always kept talks with others short. I start to get out and Dean gets out with me.

"Don't say anything," He says walking around to my side. "Let me just make sure you make it inside alright."

I throw my hands up and let him walk me to the door. I repeat the silent rule in my head. Never sleep with a Winchester. Never sleep with a Winchester. Never sleep with a Winchester. I open my door and step inside, Dean watches my every move.

"Do you want to come in?" I catch myself asking.

"Sure," Dean follows me inside.

I don't know what the fuck I just did, but I am not backing out. My body seems to know what I what more than my brain. "I'm going to use the bathroom real quick." Before I close the door to the bathroom, I see Dean take a seat in the motel table chair and pull out his phone. I turn to the bathroom sink and splash my face and see the look in my own eyes. The lust. The hunger. The need.  I pull the hair band from my hair and shake it out.

"Here we go," I smile to myself. I instantly become a whole new person.

I make my way out of the bathroom. Dean is leaning back in the chair. "I hope you don't mind, but I raided your mini fridge." He points to a few empty mini bottles of alcohol.

"Oh that's fine," I walk over to my phone that's on the table and find the perfect song. Setting it down, I open up my bag and pull out the tie that I carry with me. "I hope you don't music."

"I love music," Dean says shifting in his seat. I can see a noticeable bulge forming tightly in his pants.

"Good," I turn towards Dean. "Just feel the music once the music starts." He eyes the tie in my hand. He smirks and raises an eyebrow. I bite my lip as I feel the wetness in my pants start to form. I take the tie and gently wrap it around his eyes and tie a knot so it's secure.

I press play on the phone and lean behind him. "Like I said, feel the music."

As the song starts, I slowly run my hands over his shoulders. Feeling the firm muscle under neath the layer of red. I suck in a soft breath. I lean behind him and press my lips to his neck and trail them to his ear. I feel the muscles tense and relax. I move to the other side and put my lips to his ear and whisper the lyrics to him.

"It ain't my fault you keep turning me on. It ain't my fault you got, got me so gone. It ain't my fault I'm not leavin' alone. It ain't my fault you keep turning me on." I slowly push away and notice a small little smile on his face. I walk around straddle his lap and start on the buttons of that red shirt. Figures, there's another layer under it.

I push this first layer down and when I do, Deans hands grab my hips. With one hand and take both of them and pin them down between our bodies. One of his fingers slips out and starts to firmly stroke the crotch of my jeans. I bite my lip and suck in a breath. Just the touch alone sends sparks throughout my body.

Taking my free hand, I grab the back of his head and grip the small hair. I feel his hands ball into fists. I press my forehead to his and he tries to bring his lips to mine. He can't due to my firm grip. "So if I put your hands where my eyes can't see. Then you're the one who's got a hold on me. No I, can't be responsible, responsible." I softly sing along to the song. I softly and quickly press my lips to his.

Dean's lips part and I feel the tip of his tongue on my lips. I push away and slid off his lap, making sure my hand brushed against his already hard erection. I make my way around the chair again and slowly slide my hands back down his chest. Sighing as I feel the muscles again. As the lyrics of the song start again It ain't my fault you came in looking like that. You just made me trip, fall, and land on your lap. Certain bad boy smooth, body hotter than a sauna. I don't mean to be rude, but I look so damn good on ya. I grip the bottom of his black t-shirt and pull it up over his head. Without the blindfold moving either.

Nothing prepared me for Deans hand to grip my neck gently but firmly from behind. Dean pulls my neck down and presses his lips to mine. He slips his tongue into my mouth and explores it. His tongue runs along my teeth and pushes my tongue aside. Trying to claim dominance.

I push away from him. His hand reluctantly pulls away from my neck and falls back to his lap. I walk around him and un do my pants and shimmy out of them. Dean tilts his to the side as he hears my pants hit the ground. I got back and sit on Deans lap but this time, my back is a hundred percent to him. I grab his hand and use them to run over my body. From my shirt covered breast to my naked thighs. My head rolls back and to the side as he take control of his hands back.

"Too much shirt," he whispers into my ear. He grabs the hem of my shirt and flawlessly takes it off. I hear the fabric fall floor and I bring a hand back to his face. As swiftly as he took my shirt off, he takes my bra off. Both his firm and calloused hands squeeze both my breast and pinches the sensitive nipple making them hard under his hands.  

My head falls back onto Deans shoulder. He takes hold of my neck again and kisses my neck and his free hand trails my body and slowly disappears under my lace panties. His finger slowly circle around my clit and that's all he does. I suck in a breath and bite my lip as my own arousal slowly turns into a climax.

Dean kisses my neck again as the lyrics of the song say So if I put your hands where my eyes can't see. Then you're the one who's got a hold on me. No I, can't be responsible, responsible. Then without warning, Dean pushes me off his lap. I turn to see him rip the tie of his face. Those gorgeous green eye were filled lust, hunger, desire, the whole bit.

He closes the gap between us and backs us to the bed where he pushes me down onto it. I lay on the bed and watch as he takes his pants off and slowly takes my panties off. He smiles at how wet they are. He sets them aside and settles himself between my legs. He takes my hands and pins them above my head.

"You're turn," he nips my ear and he slips inside me.

Gotta put together (some of) my feelings and thoughts about the mandalorian S2 finale so spoilers, can’t put it under a read more on tablet but SPOILERs and it’s tagged so:

I didn’t get it until the x wing landed in the hangar... then I started crying in both hope and fear. I felt Luke was the option to go to but I never thought they would ACTUALLY do it. Then it was him on the cams and you couldn’t see the color but the SOUND. Then you saw the glove!!! And then the shot mirroring Vader with the green in the smoke like...wow (also kinda mirrored Vader’s slaughter in rogue one but with less human murder). And so many of Luke’s moves reminded me of Anakin and Vader that it was just undeniable. Like it all just compiled so nicely and it was just amazing. (the cgi on his face was a lil eh but it was still Luke) AND THEN R2!!! I jumped and yelped and cried again. And then of course Din removing his helmet for Grogu... come on... it’s too sweet. “‘let me look on you with my own eyes” come THROUGH FATHER SON DYNAMIC ITS POETRY IT RHYMES!!! But of course the thought crossed my mind when Luke was holding Grogu... his possible fate to Kyle at Luke’s temple... oof. I mean possibly not but ??? ALSO WHEN GIDEON TRIED TO SHOOT GROGU?!?! I HATED THAT SO MUCH! THAT SPLIT SECOND HAD ME REELING,SEETHING. Also I wonder if Grogu is the first kid recruited by Luke? I think that would be such an interesting dynamic, I mean aside from Ben of course but... that is just such an interesting thought for this to be the first recruitment of his temple. The weight it puts on that scene and Luke’s determination to get to him...like come on. The only thing I wanted more than Luke was Leia, because I am dying for more Jedi Leia, but it’s obviously a bit iffy territory to tread, sadly rip queen. Also also I need to see a Grogu/Din reunion. Particularly I think it would be great to see them years later, I mean I would love Din to have constant contact with his SON, but of course a years later reunion would be so interesting to see the dynamic. Do they settle back in? Is Grogu too young rn to be able to be taken away and have a good connection (without taking into account any force connection type vibes) later on? Grogu didn’t get his ball...

Also i was so engrossed I forgot about the actual kind of... inheritance of the darksaber, kinda due to Sabine giving Bo the darksaber in rebels?? and that was just such a moment. As soon as I saw Gideon smiling/laughing at Bo I was like.. wait a minute... The whole time, from Boba and Koska and Bo’s fight/bickering at the beginning, to when Gideon was holding it up to Grogu, I was just like Din doesn’t care about all this he just wants Grogu. And it broke my heart when he was telling her to take it, and she just couldn’t, knowing that’s not what he wants at all (i mean who knows where it will go now with Grogu gone but :/ still doesn’t seem like the rule Mandalore type but he really almost has a no choice.. also high key feel bad for Bo. She was just feigning for Gideon and the darksaber and made it clear but just happenstance and.. not even back at square one but now stuck in this weird place. She knows Din’s not like Gideon so she can’t justify going after him like that. But also lowkey wanted to fight her after she called out Boba as not a real mandalorian, and talking about him being a clone, at the beginning but I guess he doesn’t really care too much sinc he’s so sure of himself and doesn’t need recognition from other mandalorians). I am so interested in how Din moves forward. Also I love how they allowed Luke and Boba to just pass each other lol because 😬 (also is koska dead??) And according to Gideon they already got Grogu’s blood so :/ but also R2/Grogu recognizing each other??

BOBA SUPREMACCYYYY!!!! RIP Jeremy Bulloch 💕 The after credit omg... Fat Bib Fortuna physically taking Jabba’s place on the throne and manifesting the body to go with it lol but I loved how it mirrored Luke’s entrance at Jabba’s palace, and of course as soon as we see Fennec I know Boba was coming along, and I just... oof. The book of Boba... wow... I am so hype for next December. Him and Fennec running the criminal underworld?? Pls let Cobb vanth show up because I would love to see Boba stare down the dude who ‘borrowed’ his armor for a while. Also I wanna know a bit more of Boba’s escape/survival and time with the Tusken raiders, I loved seeing them a bit more this season compared to the very brief glimpses and Ani’s slaughter. Also Dark Troopers so good. Good love it.

I wonder if the book of boba is the next season, so an installment of this series.. that’s what I think it will probably be... but also Bo and Din on mandalore?? But also explore Luke’s Jedi Temple... him finding the force sensitives and how his methods differ from the old Jedi Order. How he changes it and improves or what he sticks to that works/doesn’t?? And of course we got the set up for Thrawn/Ahsoka/ EZRA??!?!? (pls rahul kohli) show and all the other shows which.. while I am hype for book of boba (the best title) I am still OBVI most hype for the Obi wan because baby boy ani and ewan, like if this?!? Had me crying... I am going to get destroyed when that obi-wan show drops. Dubstep droids... Also I really thought there would be something to the “‘pure Beskar” line, like one of the mando’s armor wouldn’t be pure and they get stabbed... listen I came into this thinking someone was going to die.

I have so much Feelings and Thoughts and just needed them somewhere. It felt like Star Wars... it felt like I was in the theaters. I was crying and talking to myself and silently yelling since it was 3am but... it just felt amazing. It was amazing. Like it’s just kind of insane especially when there were so many times when it seemed like Star Wars was gone or changing too much... which isn’t exactly bad but it was just kind of nice to feel like it used to. The nostalgia...and the love and the hope gosh ❤️

Episode Description: Dr. Manning sustains an injury while helping a drive-by victim and Dr. Rhodes finds himself in uncomfortable waters.

-this is one of the most iconic ava moments. (it’s first thing that pops up under the tumblr tag)

-ava overhearing connor not knowing his date’s last name. and ava walking over, already getting ready to make fun of him. barely concealing her smile

-the confidence with which she set down the file. she was too prepared and too excited

-i know she explicitly says that baseball is boring but i can’t get the idea of ava being a secret baseball fan out of my head. its just so novel

-ava smirking when connor says that he thinks the heart attack was from his sex and not the cocaine

-connor thinking he’s so good at sex he’s going to give this woman a heart attack

-he really drives All the ladies wild in EveryWay (sex, suicide. he’s the whole package)

Dr. Bekker is sitting at the desk in the ED. Well, sleeping, more like it. Her head is resting on her fist, her elbow precariously close to slipping off the the chair armrest, and her eyes open by just a hair.

“Dr. Bekker.”

Ava jolts awake.

“Maggie,” Ava says, strong accent cutting through, acknowledging the person standing over her. Hastily, she adjusts her jacket and scrubs, smoothing them back into place.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this tired.”

Ava shrugs, seamlessly slipping back into easy confidence.

“Rough couple of cases. Nothing I can’t handle.”

“Uh huh,” Maggie says, unbelieving.

She sets a can of Red Bull on the desk with a knowing look.

“You need this more than anybody.”

Ava scoffs. “Those things? They are murder on your heart, come on.”

Maggie hums and walks away. Ava watches her leave, and when she’s out of sight, Ava darts forward, grabs the energy drink, immediately cracking it open and downing half of it.

- rewatching the series and getting completely confused bc norma is 5′7″ but she looks so short next to colin and the guy who plays latham

- AND RACHEL IS ALSO 5′ 7″ BUT THEY BOTH LOOK SO SHORT - WHY EVERYONE ON THIS SHOW SO TALL

- anyway. ignore that that’s not important

- I... the parallels btwn sarah offering this guy the ability to slit her throat (for therapy) and ava cutting her throat... i don’t know what to do with this information

- idk but sarah holding the knife got me feelin some type of way

- the way connor looks at ava with such contempt bc she... does her job (and his but yk) especially during the hug wtf dude honestly just stop looking at her

- this is also the episode where ava pawns off the patient’s hug onto connor. while yeah, it could ava just being annoying to connor by forcing him to hug his one night stand’s husband, but she did give connor due credit. (and something to be said about her being confused and a tad uncomfortable when the patient hugs her, which is why she pawns it off to rhodes)

- she also doesn’t hug the guy back, which is kind of funny, she never moves her arms and just shrugs out of it

- and like after the hug she takes a few steps away from the guy, really not wanting any more physical contact or attention

- there’s something interesting in ava’s expression when connor gets hugged by the guy, can’t quite explain it. i’m gonna go with it’s her trying to keep a straight face while connor hugs a man he just helped a woman cheat on, but that’s not all of it so

- or. okay, I think i got it. i think that that little expression when connor gets hugged is her rolling her eyes at him getting credit when ava did most of the heavy lifting. yes. final answer. i’m satisfied

- and her looking away from them is her stopping herself from laughing, bc connor is obviously not enjoying this

- and he’s so sad and angsty he can’t even play along with the jokes

- and ava smiling at him with pity as she walks in to talk to the patient, bc that’s really what it is. she feels bad for him bc connor is so obviously lonely

- and connor’s annoyed bc ‘dammit she does have a right to pity me i suck rn’

- med pushing the women are tough agenda LITERALLY SHUT THE FUCK UP

- you hate your women characters so much just fucking shut your mouth

- and will being like ‘ i have a lot to learn about women not being objects’

- and nat saying ‘you are way further along than most’ like no, he’s not. the bar is on the ground and he still can’t jump it

- i’m pretty sure this show doesn’t pass the bechdel test. holy fucking shit it doesn’t. you’ve gotta be kidding me. (at least this episode doesn’t)

I can’t believe this episode didn’t pass the bechdel test. The only convo btwn two women were like maggie and sharon and they talk about barry and oh my god this is infuriating god med the bar is so low. And I’m pretty sure most episodes don’t pass the test anyway. Will is literally the representation of med. He gets lots of credit for doing bare minimum things like giving women rights.

Anyway.

This was a good episode. We dissected a lot of unspoken Ava things, which is very good. Ava had a lot of moments where she was there, but didn’t say anything, and when your characters can do that, that’s when you know your characterization is very good.

The moments where Ava isn’t really doing anything to forward the plot of the episode but she’s still just there, doing her own thing, are hands down my favorite. Her sitting at the desk looking at a scan while connor tells latham he didn’t do cocaine could possibly my favorite ava moment in the series, just bc it shows how much of her own character should could’ve been.

I drew an interesting parallel btwn sarah offering the guy to slit her throat and ava’s death. i have nothing for that but go wild

This episode also showed us Ava pitying Connor, another new aspect. she gives him shit but she also pities him. very good ep for little ava moments

Sam, Interrupted: Part Two

In order to figure out how Ted really died��it definitely wasn’t suicide—you needed to go to the morgue and inspect the body. It was easy to get down there, and while you were there, you kept a look out while the brothers inspected the body. If you were correct, then there should be some kind of physical cause for his death besides the ligature marks on his neck. Dean took Ted’s lower half of the body to see if there was something noticeable that would explain what was going on. Sam began feeling his head until he felt wo puncture wounds behind Ted’s ears.

“Hey, I think I found something.”

“What is it?” you asked.

“Right here,” he said, grabbing a Q-tip from a table and sticking it into the hole. It came out of the other side which meant there wasn’t anything in his head—not even a brain. “This hole goes all the way through to his brain.”

“What does that mean?” Dean asked.

“Let's find out,” Sam grinned, eyeing a bone saw.

“Seriously?”

“If my theory is correct, there might not be a brain in there which means the monster we’re hunting eats it through the hole in the back of the ears that he puncture,” you observed.

Dean took a step back and let his brother cut into the man’s skull to see if your theory was correct or not. Dean didn’t want to see this so he exited the morgue and stood right outside while you joined Sam’s side to see what he was doing. Once he cut into the skull, he removed the top of it off. Instead of a brain inside, it was a small, hard, black rock like thing.

“Well, that’s not supposed to happen,” you commented.

“Guys,” Dean rushed back inside the morgue urgently.

“Look, his brain's been sucked dry,” you commented as Sam held up the item.

“That's fascinating. Somebody's coming,” he whispered.

Both you and the brothers rushed to put everything back where it was before the person entered the place. As soon as the last piece was placed, the door opened and the really happy nurse—her name badge only said Foreman—walked in.

“What are you three doing in here?” she asked.

Each of you looked at one another, unable to think of a good enough reason to be in here. Dean did the first thing he could think of and pulled down his pants, exposing everything to everyone.

“Pudding!” he yelled, raising his hands in the air.

Both you and Sam stared at him like he was crazy, but Nurse Foreman only smiled.

“Alright, come on, you three,” she chuckled.

Dean pulled his pants back up and heads for the door. He turned back to you two with a wink.

“Crazy works,” he whispered.

Shaking off that feeling, you followed Dean out the door, but not before you made strange eye contact with the nurse. It was like she knew who you were or something. Now that you knew what was happening, you needed to tell Martin about this since he might know more about it.

“Are those original Gacy's?” Dean chuckled, looking at the wall covered in clown paintings.

“I painted those,” Martin frowned.

“Back on point, please,” Sam interrupted. “Um, so, whatever this thing is, it Slurpees your brain and sucks you dry.”

“Then it makes the deaths look like suicides. Any ideas?” you asked.

“Yeah, a bad one,” the ex-hunter sighed. He led you to one of his tables before bringing out his journal that he kept with him most days. He opened it up to a specific page and showed you the drawing he did.

“What is it?” you asked.

“Well, I bet you a chicken dinner it's what we're up against—a wraith. They crack open skulls and feed on brain juice.”

“You ever tangle with one before?”

“Never. Never wanted to, neither.”

“So, how do we kill it?” Dean asked.

“Silver. You so much as touch a wraith with the stuff, and the skin will crackle. Now, that's the good news. The bad news is they can pass as humans,” he motioned to everyone in the room. “It could be any Peter, Paul and Mary in the joint.”

“So how do we find it?” you wondered.

“A mirror. Lore says a wraith will show its true form in a mirror.”

“Okay, well, we just gotta spot check every patient and every staff member,” Dean shrugged.

“Okay. Yeah. But, I mean, what's it doing in a mental hospital?” Sam asked.

“Come on, it’s a perfect setting. Who’s going to believe a patient when they say they saw a. monster? It's the perfect hunting ground,” you explained.

“Okay, then we need to station ourselves near mirrors and just observe for the time being,” Sam said, taking the lead on this one.

By the end of it all, you were stationed near the entrance where people come and go, Dean was stationed next to the nurses’ station, and Sam and Martin were somewhere else that was out of sight. As you watched people through the mirror, you noticed Dean talking to someone even though there was no one there. It was strange to see this kind of behavior, especially when you thought you saw it when you two were playing checkers. It was really weird, and you didn’t know if you should go over there and talk to him about that or stick to your assignment.

As you watched everyone else, you noticed Dean stand up a bit straighter when Dr. Fuller approached him from the right side. His eyes went a bit wide as he passed by, and he made eye contact with you. He pointed to him, and you knew that you had the monster. Leaving your spot, you joined your boyfriend’s side.

“You think it’s Dr. Fuller?” you asked.

“I saw him through the mirror, Y/N. It’s him.”

“Who were you talking to earlier?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean who were you talking to? There wasn’t anyone by your side.”

“Dr. Cartwright. She’s assigned to my case. Come on, we need to go find Sam,” he urged, leaving your side.

“No, she isn’t,” you frowned, following him from behind.

There was no one here by that name so you wondered why he was saying these things. It didn’t take long to find and locate Sam and Martin, and it took even less for Sam to raid the nurses’ station to get four silver letter openers.

“Alright, I had to raid three nurses' stations to get these,” he handed them off. “They're only silver-plated, but they should work.”

“Thanks—”

Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Wendy, the girl who kissed you before, march straight to the group.

“No, Wendy, not again—” She walked right past you and shoved Dean against the wall and kissed him.

It was a long kiss, but she pulled away eventually. Everyone was shocked at this, so Sam didn’t know what to do when she did the same exact thing to him.

“I want them now,” she said to you. “I like men now. They’re… larger.”

“Hm,” Dean shrugged at his brother when the woman walked away. “You’ve had worse.”

“Fuller is on call tonight, so we'll have to hit him after lights out,” Sam changed the subject. “All three of us.”

“What? No,” Martin shook his head.

“Martin, we gotta get past security, past the orderlies, and then cut the boss-man's throat, okay? It's gonna suck start to finish, but we could use the backup.”

“Oh, I can't. I can't,” he shakes his head and begins to walk away.

“We know what happened in Albuquerque,” you blurted out.

“You don't know the half of it,” he stops and turns. “God, I used to be just like you three. I used to think I was invincible, and then... well, I found out I'm not.”

“Martin, you're still a hunter.”

“No. I'm not. I'm useless. Why do you think I checked myself into the Hotel California? I'd give anything to help you three, I would. But, I-I can't. I'm sorry. I can't,” he sighed and walked away from the group.

“It’s just us three, so come on,” you said, leading the group to Fuller’s office which was empty.

After searching it, you noticed his car keys was still here which meant he was still in the building.

“He's still in the building. Sam takes the west wing, Dean the east, and I'll take the north.”

“Okay,” Sam nodded.

After exiting the office, you three took your separate ways. Since the entrance to the north wing was closer to the east than the west, you went with Dean.

“I have a weird feeling with this one,” you expressed.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean I didn’t get any weird vibes from him when we met him. The only person whose given me the monster vibes is Nurse Foreman, the really happy nurse.”

“I know what I saw, Y/N. Dr. Fuller is the wraith.”

“I don’t think so,” you whispered.

Approaching the entrance to the north wing, you were about to separate when you heard Sam’s screams come from all the way across the hospital. Both you and Dean booked it out of there to get to Sam. When you did, you noticed him struggling with Dr. Fuller. The doctor was clearly terrified since Sam was much bigger than he was, but that wasn’t the most pressing thing. His arm was cut due to the silver letter opener, but he wasn’t in pain at all from it. Rushing over to Sam, you grabbed his arm when he raised it to stab the doctor.

“Sam! It’s not him!” you yelled. “Look at his arm. That cut's not burning!”

Sam, once he realized what he’s done, he dropped the blade on the ground. Looking behind you, Dean widened his eyes in realization that he was wrong about this. Dr. Fuller was clearly scared of what was going on, so he didn’t move from his spot even after Sam was off of him.

“It’s not him,” you repeated to yourself which meant the nurse was.

There was something really off about her.

The Rise Of Skywalker Review [SPOILERICIOUS]

I’m going to post all the SPOILER stuff way below in section 3, so as not to ruin anything for anybody who hasn’t seen the movie yet.

You’ll get plenty of warnings.

In my old age I’m starting to divide creative works into three groups:  Good, bad, and not-so-good.

A good creative work is any where the strengths overwhelmingly outweigh the weaknesses; a bad one is the obverse.

A not-so-good work is one where the strengths and weaknesses balance each other out.

It’s the kind of a work that will doubtless please those audience members who really enjoy the strengths in it, and equally irritate those annoyed by the weaknesses.

In my estimation, a not-so-good work is one done with straight forward intent and as often as not, a fair degree of technical and aesthetic competency, but fails to jell as a cohesive whole.  

No one need feel ashamed for enjoying a not-so-good work, and no one involved in the making of a not-so-good work should feel bad about their contribution (unless, of course, their contribution turns out to be one of the weaknesses that should have been avoided).

Theodore Sturgeon famously observed “90% of everything is crap.”

I think that’s a little harsh.

I agree with him that only 10% of anything is good, but think only 40% falls into the crap bin.

Most stuff falls in the 50% I call not-so-good.

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker is in that 50%.

The good stuff is really good.

Elsewhere I’ve posted my enthusiasm for Star Wars Episode VII:  The Force Awakens and Star Wars Episode VIII:  The Last Jedi hinge in no small part on just how emo Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) could get, and holy cow, does he ever deliver in The Rise Of Skywalker.

Easily my favorite parts of the picture.

Doesn’t really mesh with anything else in the movie but, hey, ya can’t have everything, right?  (I’ll discuss his performance in a little more detail in section =3=.)

Other performances range from adequate to doing-the-best-they-can-with-the-material to okay-smartass-you-try-recreating-a-dead-actress-via-CGI.

The dialog in The Rise Of Skywalker is the worst of any film in the series, with the possible exception Star Wars Episode III:  The Revenge Of The Sith, which I haven’t seen and have no intention of seeing (but more on that below…).

It’s not an attempt to depict characters talking, it’s a series of shouted declarative sentences.

Elsewhere I’ve referred to The Rise Of Skywalker as the best Jason Of Star Command episode ever made.

For those who don’t get the reference, Jason Of Star Command was a low budget albeit imaginative Saturday morning kid-vid Star Wars rip off by Filmation Studios.

To make sure the youngest kids in the audience understood what was going on, they tended to hammer home plot points repeatedly.

  DRAGOS Jason!  In just sixteen hours my space fleet will destroy Star Command!

  STAR COMMAND Jason!  Dragos is going to destroy us with his space fleet in just sixteen hours!

  JASON Don’t worry, Star Command!  I’ll stop Dragos from destroying you with his space fleet in sixteen hours.

  NARRATOR (i.e., Norm Prescott) Jason has only sixteen hours to stop Dragos from destroying Star Command with his space fleet!

  There is far too much of that in The Rise Of Skywalker.

Ten minutes into the movie, and there was already far too much of that…

The opening credit crawl reveals an off camera plot development that literally deserved an entire film of its own to fully explore.

There is no sustained coherent plot to The Rise Of Skywalker:  

Well, we gotta do this,

now we gotta do that,

first we gotta find this thing,

then we gotta find that thing,

now I’m feeling blue,

now I’m gonna get encouraged,

etc., etc., and of course, etc.

Everything feel frenetic, not fast paced.

There are far too many scenes that exist just to sell action figures and toy vehicles.

There was a desire to tie off loose ends and say good-bye to favorite characters and that was a mistake.

It undercuts the urgency of the story (or rather, the desired urgency; the fact the film is called The Rise Of Skywalker means everybody in the freakin’ audience ALREADY KNOWS HOW THE DAMN THING IS GONNA END!

(This is not a problem unique to Star Wars.  Gene Siskell famously upbraided Roger Ebert for spoiling the ending to the third Star Trek movie, to which Ebert retorted, “Oh, come on!  They’re going to call a forty million dollar movie The Search For Spock and not find him?!?!?”)

There is one nice little breather scene (“little” only in screen time; visually it’s pretty big and impressive):  The Festival of the Ancestors on the desert world Pasaana that gives a nice touch of exotic space opera flavor to the proceedings.

All of the Star Wars movies offer really great art direction and visual design, and The Rise Of Skywalker certainly delivers in that category.

Which makes the occasional mediocre special effects shots all the more obvious.

The Rise Of Skywalker has a few painfully obvious matte shots, a few shots obviously composed in post-production, and a few shots where the audience becomes aware the actors are performing in front of a greenscreen. 

You can get away with mediocre visuals so long as there is consistency in their mediocrity.  

If everything else consistently looks great, a so-so shot spoils the illusion; if everything consistently looks so-so, it’s simply part of the work’s look.

Indeed, you’re better off with consistently mediocre work highlighted by a few great shots than consistently great stuff undercut by a few mediocre ones.

Best thing about the movie is the complete lack of Jar Jar Binks.

Before diving deeper in The Rise Of Skywalker, let’s look at the series as a whole (just the numbered theatrical episodes, not standalone films, TV series, video games, comics, novels, etc.).

I’ve said the original Star Wars was the movie an entire generation had been waiting all their lives to see.

George Lucas wanted to do Flash Gordon but when Universal turned him down, created his own space opera.

Lucas, it needs be noted, is not a good writer.

Whatever visual talents he has, they don’t extend to telling a good story.

One can easily find early drafts of Star Wars online, and while they all share certain elements, they’re all pretty bad.

The development of Star Wars the movie grew organically with storyboard and production art, characters and incidents changing and evolving along the way.

It’s long been rumored that a more skilled writer than Lucas came in to do the final draft; one thing’s for sure, the shooting script is head and shoulders above the earlier drafts.

Star Wars the original Han-shoots-first-dammit theatrical release is very much a product of the 1970s.

20th Century Fox thought they had a good enough kiddee matinee movie for summer release; they expected their big sci-fi blockbuster of the year to be Damnation Alley.

Instead, they hit a nerve and found themselves with a blockbuster on their hands.

Lucas did show one great example of foresight:  He trademarked all the names / characters / vehicles and held the licenses on them, not 20th Century Fox.

This gave him the war chest he needed to build the Lucasfilm empire.

And let’s give Lucas and his crew their due:  They added immeasurably to the technical art of film making, as well as making several entertaining films.

What Lucas did not fully envision was how to mold his Star Wars material into a coherent and thematically cohesive saga.

He started out with grandiose plans -- four trilogies with a standalone film connecting each for a total of 15 movies -- but that gradually got whittled down to 12, then 9.

After Star Wars Episode VI:  The Return Of The Jedi, Lucas put the Star Wars movie series on hold, waiting for film making technology to develop to the point where he could tell the stories the way he wanted to tell them.

Okay, fair enough.

But the problem is that while the film making technology improved, the technology of the Star Wars universe didn’t.

As I said, the original Star Wars is very much a 70s movie in taste / tone / style / sensibility.

While the designs look sufficiently sci-fi, they reflect robots and spacecraft designs of the 1970s -- in fact, even earlier in many cases.

That fit in with Lucas’ “used universe” look and the tag line “A long ago in a galaxy far, far away...”

But compare the original Star Wars with Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Kubrick spent a lot of time researching where technology was heading.

Long before visual displays and vector graphics became commonplace in real world aircraft, he showed them being used in the future.

The first example of what we refer to today as a computer tablet appeared in 2001 as a throwaway background detail.

Kubrick’s next film was A Clockwork Orange and he successfully predicted punk culture a decade ahead of reality (his only mistake being the assumption white, not black, would be the base color).

Star Wars Eps I - III take place a generation before the original Star Wars movie.

Star Wars Eps VII - IX take place a generation after.

Name a two generation span since the start of the industrial age that is not marked by radical technological change that produces an ensuing change in the social order.

Now I grant you, the Star Wars universe isn’t trying to tell that kind of story, but the story it is telling is static.

Characters in The Rise Of Skywalker talk about cloning as if it were A Really Big Deal.

Cloning today is cutting edge bio-tech, to be sure, but it’s already common place.

It’s as if the Star Wars characters were getting worked up over steam engines.

One can intercut scenes from the movies and, unless one is a familiar with each movie, it’s impossible to tell one film from another.

Lucas’ financial success enabled him to issue edicts re Star Wars (and other Lucasfilm projects) that undercut the strengths of his projects.

Lucas is a technological guru and a savvy businessman, but he really struggles to tell a story.

Frankly, I think he would have been a better film maker if he’d spent a decade or so making American Graffiti scale movies, not space operas and epic fantasies and adventure movies.

His decision to make the original Star Wars the fourth episode in his saga and going back to start his story with his villain was fatally flawed.

I grant following the Skywalker saga from Anakin to Luke to Rey could work if it started with Anakin.

But what he did was the equivalent of the James Bond movies jumping back in time to follow the pre-Bond career of Ernst Stavo Blofeld.

(And the Bond movies, at least up until the Daniel Craig era, are all standalone films insofar as one does not have to see any of the previous films to understand and enjoy the one being watched, not does the sequence they’re viewed in matter.  And the Craig films were conceived from the beginning as having a coherent overall arc, so in that case they are the exception to the rule.)

The joyous whiz-bang space opera of the original Star Wars got bogged down in a lot of meaningless politics and talks of trade treaties, none of which explained why anyone would want to conquer the universe in order to rule it as a decrepit, diseased dictator in a dark hole.

Look at Hitler and Stalin and Castro and Mao and the Kim family in North Korea.

These guys enjoyed themselves (well, Hitler did until things went south for him).  They loved the attention and went around preening themselves in public.

The off screen Empire (and implied Emperor) of the original Star Wars served that film well:  It was a story about a tactical conflict, not a treatise on the philosophy of governance.

Lucas’ universe does not make sense even in its own context.

And because of that, it becomes harder and harder to fully engage with it.

A sci-fi movie doesn’t have to explain everything, but it has to at least imply there is an underlying order that links up.

Lucas began subverting his own universe almost immediately.

The Force was originally presented as a spiritual discipline that any sufficiently dedicated intelligent being could gain access to.  (Robots seem to be specifically excluded from The Force, implying it needs a biological connection.  But that would seem to exclude intelligences that may not be organic in the commonly accepted sense of the word, which means such beings cannot appear in the Star Wars universe, which means…well, I digress…)

That was a big hunk of the original Star Wars’ appeal, the thought that literally anybody could become a Jedi if they so desired.

It speaks to a religious bent in audiences from many different cultures around the world, and it offers up an egalitarian hope that allows everyone access to the Star Wars fantasy (“fantasy” in this context meaning the shared ideal).

But already in Star Wars Episode V:  The Empire Strikes Back Lucas began betraying his original concept, sowing the seeds for self-serving deception and innate superiority as endemic in The Force.

By the time he got around to Star Wars Episode I:  The Phantom Menace, Lucas abandoned the hope established in the original Star Wars movie.

Now one has to be a special somebody, not just dedicated.

Mind you, that sort of story has its adherents, too.

Way back in the 1940s sci-fi fans were saying “Fans are slans” in order to claim superiority over “mundanes”.  Today many Harry Potter fans like to think of themselves as inherently superior to “Muggles”. 

It’s a very appealing idea, so appealing that the United States of America is based on it, the assumption being that white people are endowed with more blessings -- and therefore more rights -- than non-white people (add force multipliers such as “rich” / “male” / “Christian” / “straight” and you get to lord it over everybody).

Lucas with his stupid midichlorians robbed audiences of their healthy egalitarian fantasy and replaced it with a far more toxic elitism.

It appeals to the narcissistic stain in the human soul, and encourages dominance and bullying and cruelty and harm as a result.

It’s an elitism that requires a technologically and sociologically stagnant society, one where clones and robots and slaves can all co-exist and nobody points out they are all essentially the same thing.

A progressive society -- and here I use “progressive” strictly in a scientific and technological sense (though as stated above, advances in scientific fields invariably lead to changes elsewhere) -- does not let such conditions exist unchanged for generations.

As technology changes and improves, the culture/s around it change (and hopefully improve, too).

As I mentioned above, I’ve never seen Star Wars Episode III:  Revenge Of The Sith.

My reason for not seeing it?  Star Wars Episode II:  Attack Of The Clones.

Little Anakin Skywalker and his mom are slaves in The Phantom Menace.

He saves the Jedis and Princess Padame’s collective asses in that movie.

Okay, you’d think at the end of the movie that Padame would hand Qui-gon her ATM card and say, “Here, go back to Tatooine and bail the kid’s mom out.  He did a solid for us, it’s the least we can do for him.”

No, they leave her there because there is no desire to change the underlying social order of their universe.

There can be no changes in Lucas’ bleak, barren moral universe.

There can be no help, no hope, no improvement.

When an edict is issue -- be it Jedi council or Emperor (or president of Lucasfilm) -- it is to be obeyed without question or pause.

Daring to say one can change their status -- change their destiny -- results in tragedy (and ironically, proof that is their destiny).

It’s dismaying enough that a large number of people enjoy cosplaying Star Wars villains, especially storm troopers, as that seems to indicate they’re missing the whole point of why the rebels were striving against the Empire in the first place.

Originally that could be written off as (at best) just enjoying the cool costumes and props or (at worst) finding an excuse for bad behavior (i.e., “I vuz only followink orders”).

But Lucas’ tacitly endorsing a sense of innate superiority pretty much destroys everything about The Force that the original Star Wars audience found enlightening and ennobling.

The Star Wars universe has become at its core a very ugly thing, and The Rise Of Skywalker doesn’t really clean it up.

Seriously, SPOILERS follow.

Holy crap, The Rise Of Skywalker is a damn mess.

Nice eye candy, but a mess.

It pretty much undoes everything good in the previous two episodes.

I’m glad it’s the “official” end of the original saga because now I never need to see another Star Wars movie ever again.

(Oh, I’ll keep my DVD of the original Star Wars and if I find Solo in a bargain bin somewhere I might pick that up, but as far as the rest of Star Wars goes, I am D.O.N.E.)

The series stopped making sense long ago, so I’m really in no mood to analyze why nothing links up or really works.

It’s full of absurd, stupid ideas, such as space barbarians galloping across the deck of a star destroyed on their space horsies.

The whole back and forth between among Palpatine / Kylo / Rey goes on for two long.  If hating somebody is bad because it sucks you over to the Dark Side, then why doesn’t somebody start building Terminators that can track down beings with midichlorians and kill them?  (They’ve got the technology to detect midichlorians, that’s canon.)

It’s not anywhere near a good movie.  It’s not as bad as George Lucas’ Star Wars Episodes I - III, but it’s clearly the worst of the last trilogy.

The scene where Rey gets off camera encouragement from all the dead Jedi?  It seemed awfully familiar to me, as if the writers consciously or unconsciously remembered the John Wilkes Booth / Lee Harvey Oswald scene in Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins where all the presidential assassins and would-be assassins past and future encourage him to plug Kennedy.

Not what I want in a Star Wars movie.

I think we may be seeing the end of Star Wars.  It’s been crammed down our throats for too long.  I’m aware of The Mandalorian series and how insanely popular it is, but y’know, sooner or later every pop culture craze dies out.

Star Wars has nowhere to go.  Star Trek is hemmed in, too, but nowhere nearly as bad as Star Wars.

We’re about to enter a generational shift in America, and I wouldn’t be surprised if a badly dated 1970s sci-fi concept fails to make the cut.

It ends on a frustrating note, taking much too long to come to a close, far too much self-congratulatory bullshit, and the deliberate planting of clues for a future set of sequels should the Mouse start jonesin’ for that sweet, sweet Star Wars franchise money fix.

It’s a really bad script, and dragging Carrie Fisher’s digitally reanimated corpse into it and then killing her off by suicide is a damned stupid / offensive idea.

Mark Hamill’s ghost walking out of the flames of Jedi hell (thank you for that analogy, David Brin)?  Wow, who didn’t see that one marching down the avenue?

Harrison Ford coming back as a memory / hallucination to tell Kylo to do the right thing?  Skrue dat noiz.

(Though I have to say Kylo Ren is the best thing about the movie and his character turn parallels both Luke’s and Vader’s in The Return Of The Jedi only his is much more believable and poignant so dammit, Disney, you could have done a much better job with this movie than you did.)

The plot and pacing is straight out of a video game.  First do this, then do that, now ya gotta do another thing -- feh!

And unless I misheard the dialog, this whole film supposedly takes place over a span of sixteen hours!!! 

They visit a half dozen worlds, crash and repair spaceships, go undercover, get captured and escape, fight duels to the deal -- all in sixteen hours?!?!?

Yeesh.

And I’ll say this, the last line is wrong wrong WRONG.

If the Star Wars saga has taught us anything, it’s that Force users are a threat to everything.

They should be eliminated for the good of the universe.

Rey shouldn’t have buried the Skywalker lightsabers.

She should have destroyed them -- and the one she made, and any others she found lying around.

And when she’s asked at the very end what her name is, the answer should have been:  “Rey…just Rey.”

I know I put The Rise Of Skywalker in the not-so-good bin, but truth be told, that’s the nostalgia talking; it’s only a eyelash away from being bad.

The whole epic saga is a failure as far as I’m concerned.  One and done is the way to go; the moment it started making money as a toy franchise it went south.

lydia-st-james tagged me in a writing in review meme, which, man. That takes me back. I haven't done one of these in ages.

Main take-aways: 1. 2017 was the year of the long-ass fic titles, apparently. 2. It only took ten freaking years but I can mostly write romance without dying of embarrassment. Mostly. 3. Ten years has not been long enough to teach me how to start something and just finish it already before starting twenty more things. Seriously, there are so many stories that I started this year that I keep thinking ya'll have read already and then I remember that no one has read those because I haven't finished them yet. Oh well. Maybe 2018 will be a year of extraordinary personal growth and self-discipline. Spoiler alert: it won't be.

Anyway. These are the things that I've published so far this year.

Listed in chronological order of publication, with one exception:

new worlds for the weary, new lands for the living Okay, so, I don't know if anyone else thinks of any of their stories this way, but I have a very small handful of fics that are my heartsong fics. I don't think of them as being stories. I think of them as being thousands of words of meta and criticism and gushing and character love and, just, me, pouring my heart out over some aspect of canon that is important to me, and then maybe if I'm lucky, I trick people into reading it and thinking it's a story.

Yeah. This is one of those. I started this story before I had even finished Blue Lily, Lily Blue, which is not a thing I do. I always finish canon (to whatever extent canon exists at the time of my joining fandom) before I start writing. But I wanted so badly to write about Adam and Ronan and how I felt about their relationship that I couldn't wait.

This was something like a five month writing process all told, and I'm really happy with the end result. The moment where Ronan smears ink on Adam's face, in particular, I'm very proud of. I'm proud of that whole fight scene, really, but that moment is such a strong visual, and I'm not generally great at creating those.

don't think about how much it will hurt God, I still hate this title, but I do love this fic. It exists because I had been toying around with a canon-divergent AU that I quickly realized was going to take a shit-ton of work and not actually be that interesting. I ditched the AU, but there was one scene I liked enough that I didn't want to give up on it (Ronan trying to provoke Adam into punching him and then holding his hand while wondering wtf he's doing), and I realized it could pretty easily be made canon-compliant and given the legs to stand on its own.

I briefly considered tagging this as "preslash if you consider fighting and bad decisions to be flirting, which if you ship pynch, you probably do," and then I considered how poorly that would match the tone of this story. I am very happy with the tone of this story. It was hard to write, and I think it's hard to read, and it's a better story for it.

the more we move ahead the more we're stuck in rewind NO ONE ON EARTH READ THIS FIC BUT I DON'T GIVE A SHIT I LOVE IT. There are so many, many, many things in this fic that make me happy: -Clarke being an unholy mashup of my sister and talldecafcappuccino -"You thought that there was an intersection of sentimentality and camp that Miller wouldn't be interested in?" -Just, Murphy. All of Murphy. -The Inseparable, Indestructible Blake Siblings (which is when the Blake siblings are at their best, fuck you, canon) -"Do you ever worry that we're going to turn out to be warped people with unhealthy relationships/Honestly at this point I'm counting on it." -the whole scene where Raven friend-dumps Clarke -Monty taking "gas grass or ass" too seriously -Nate's stupid "you know what they say about those guys with Bigfoot" t-shirt (I would wear that t-shirt)

Like, I know why this story wasn't successful as an item of fan culture. And I acknowledge that there are weaknesses in the writing. But I still fucking love it.

so familiar, like an old bedtime song Ugh, this was called "came in quiet with the rain" right up until the very second I published it and then I changed my mind and I still regret it. Never second gues yourselves, kids. (Either way: "Raising Cain" is a good Adam/Ronan song.) I wrote about half of this on a whim and then shoved it in a corner waiting for inspiration for the longer story that I thought it was meant to be a part of. Then I was sitting around on Adam's birthday/my birthday weekend, a little tipsy in the middle of the day, and I decided, nah, this can be a standalone. I'm not kidding myself that it's great literature but I think it does what it sets out to do well.

The Fake Geek Boy Job This is a rare example, for me, of coming up with a title first and writing the story around it. So that was fun. I was so, so, so happy with the response to this fic. I've written case fic before, but I'm not good at heists, and I was really worried that the way I handle the heavier plot elements here – basically cutting around them and explaining all of the offstage action through snarky banter – was going to feel like cheating. Like, there's probably a version of this story that's 20k words longer and is twice as good, but it would have taken ten times as much work. It seems like people understood the plot as it stands and didn't feel robbed, and it was such a relief to hear that.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name IT IS THE PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT OF MY ENTIRE LIFE that there are only two fanfics on AO3 tagged with the relationship tag "Quark & Jake Sisko" and I wrote both of them. Though I fully admit that "Everybody Comes to Quark's" is the better story of the two. This one feels like the first half is from one story and the second half is from a different story and neither of those two stories is complete, per se. But love a lot of the individual lines, character moments, etc. Also, just, any times spend with my beloved ridiculous giraffe boy Jake is good time.

faith, hope, all that bullshit This is the best thing that I have ever written that is based on a typo. And...I don't really know how to talk about this fic beyond that. It took something like seven months of on-again-off-again work; I am super grateful to Pynch Week for giving me the kick in the pants to finish it. There were so many things that were challenging about this – I hated everything in life the entire time I was writing Matthew. Plus trying to write all the characters as being a little older and more mature and their relationships as having progressed. But it was worth it because there are so many moments in this fic that just are still living in my head, even though I've put the fic down.

I think my favorite scene of all is the Christmas Eve scene, partly because I love Declan and partly because I love the "fucking Cain ruined it for the rest of us" exchange. But from a craft point of view I'm proud of that scene a lot. The first scene is its own contained story with beginning/middle/end; the Christmas Eve scene is what makes the proposal scene the beginning of a longer story, and it happens without the POV character understanding that it's happening. I'm pretty happy with how that all turned out.

People really liked the wedding scene, which is gratifying and totally baffling. That scene was murder to write. I don't even want to plan my own wedding, now I got to make one up for someone else? Of course, I mean. I cheated, because I didn't actually write the reception. Maybe the lesson here is if I don't even want to write a scene then for sure no one would want to read it?

Word on the Street This is another one, like The Fake Geek Boy Job, where I think there's a version of the story that's twice as good and eight times as long and a hundred times more work to write; I'm satisfied with my version. Also, I think the longer version is much more serious, whereas this is a comedy and I am happy with it as a comedy. Adam maybe comes off a little poorly, in the way that comedy characters sometimes come off dickish/rude/sociopathic. But it makes me laugh and honestly if I make myself laugh I'm happy. (That's not to say I'm never going to write the epic tale of how Ronan becomes Greywaren – I know what the first line of it is – but it's a real low priority).

come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls OKAY I WROTE THIS IN LIKE LITERALLY TWO DAYS AND YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW HAPPY THAT MAKES ME. Even just writing something of this length usually takes weeks if not months between when I start it and when I finish it. This was like a dirty little fling, and as someone who never has dirty little flings either in life or in writing, that was a fun change of pace.

The Dragon's Nest Avatar: The Last Airbender is, in my eyes, basically a perfect television show, and it's a lot harder to write fic for something that you think is well-written/complete on its own, because where do you and your fanwriting fit in? As such, this was a challenge, but I'm pretty happy with it. Alchemicink, for whom this was written, mentioned being happy just from seeing the "intergenerational friendship" tag, and I gotta say I was happy just from getting to use that tag. And any day you get to write Toph stomping around yelling at people is a good day.

while we're on the subject, could we change the subject now So credit where credit is due: lydia-st-james gave me the prompts here and put up with my intermittent screeching as I was working on it. It took me a while to get it all done, but I wrote literally 13k words of this in the first four days, which is bonkers; I'm usually much more of a percolator in the early stages of writing. As such a lot of the outlining process is lost to the sands of time. I don't remember making an actual decision to set this in LA; I think my subconscious realized before I did that this was going to be a story about loneliness and depression, and, fairly or unfairly, I associate loneliness and depression with the city of Los Angeles. In any case, it gave me lots of opportunities to throw shade at LA and I'm always down for that, and I've loved hearing people respond to the specificity of the location.

It's funny to me that people are responding to this one so strongly because I don't generally groove on fake dating; I’ve never written it as a trope and I always find it hard to swallow as a reader. I wonder if there's something to be said for writing tropes one is somewhat critical of. Though I don't think, generally, it works out when people write a thing they actively hate. It's a theory I'm tinkering with, anyway.

As we head to the middle of February and Valentine’s Day now in the rear view, let’s take stock of the hottest things in the WWE these days.

On RAW, it’s Edge vs. Randy Orton. That story is white hot my friends, especially now that Matt Hardy has been thrust into it too! But, you could make a case for Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler as a distant second after this past Monday night. That one has legs if they do it right. Add in the Monday Night Messiah, Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens and Friends, the Latin battle for the US Title and oh yeah, Drew McIntyre vs. Brock Lesnar and RAW’s as good as its been in months.

On NXT, it’s Adam Cole vs. Tommaso Ciampa. Close behind is Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair and the addition of Charlotte Flair to the mix. And then, lots of supporting storylines from Keith Lee to Finn Balor vs. Johnny Gargano to The Undisputed Era vs. everyone and on and on we go. Solid each and every Wednesday night.

On Smackdown, it’s… it’s… it’s Mandy and Otis! Now, nothing against the lovebirds, but that’s the problem with what should be the standout show of the WWE trying to deliver to a broadcast base that could and should beat the other two shows handily each week, but doesn’t. It’s an undefined show at the moment and that shouldn’t be when we’re this close to WrestleMania. Friday nights on FOX should be the big ol’ mouthpiece to the World for the WWE.

Maybe The Miz and John Morrison can pick up the slack. Where does Roman Reigns go next, if and when his feud with King Corbin mercifully ends? Will Sheamus do better than Shorty G? What’s in store for Daniel Bryan, who’s out of the mix until after Super Showdown due to his political beliefs. And how about Braun Strowman and King Corbin – shouldn’t that be a feud? Or maybe Strowman and Elias as a team going into the tag team title mix to make Strowman Braun-Two-Belts?!

You know the WWE is a bit concerned when they bring back Goldberg and Hulk Hogan for guest spots, albeit via satellite, in back-to-back weeks. I’ll grant you, having Bray Wyatt be on screen with Hogan is good and was fun for the TV audience, but did it do anything for the Vancouver live crowd? Slapped in the middle of Smackdown, it took a little wind out of their sails. Thankfully, they rebounded well! Cowbell, anyone!

Finally, what happened to FOX wanting Smackdown to be more like sports? Just three matches this week. Gotta give me more!

Even though I would’ve started the show with Becky vs. Asuka, it was still a hot show. They kept the in-ring starting promo to a minimum before clearing way for a very good RAW Women’s Title Match that climaxed after 20 minutes with the shocking, brutal beatdown of Becky by Shayna Baszler (more to come below!).  Good follow by Ricochet’s win over Bobby Lashley to build him up more heading into Super Showdown too.  Who’s next for Aleister Black? Smells to me like a heel turn.

Baszler’s beatdown – We all know that the former NXT Women’s Champion is a true bad ass, but who knew she was a vampire too? What was up with biting a hole into the back of Becky’s neck about? Can’t wait for the explanation on that one! Sure, it’s odd, but it surely got your attention right?

Matt vs. Randy – Loved that Matt Hardy came out to confront Randy Orton on his attack on Edge two weeks ago. Hardy brought emotion, truth and reality to the story. And now, we get a no-holds barred match between these two. Sign me up!

No Rowan squash – Thankfully, we got a week off. The squash quotient was filled by Garza vs. Alexander.  We also got MVP squashed by Drew McIntyre in the return of the VIP Lounge. Here’s hoping MVP sticks around to try to get some revenge on Drew.

What we hated:

Hey, Buddy – Hey, WWE. Stop dropping first names! We in the WWE Universe can handle someone having a full name and don’t need you to shorten Buddy Murphy to Murphy just like you did Mustafa Ali to Ali, Erik Rowan and Luke Harper to Rowan & Harper for a while. Give us a little credit folks!

What made us think:

Becky stealing an ambulance – Someone needs to explain to me why, how and what was the reasoning behind Lynch stealing the ambulance after her attack by Baszler, heading to the hospital, getting treated and then getting back to the arena to address the crowd. None of it makes any sense and surely, limits the brunt of that attack by Baszler.

It’s all about the set-up for TakeOver: Portland this Sunday for this week’s edition of NXT. Nothing was over-the-top, OMG. But, then again, nothing was bad. It was your normal, every Wednesday solid performance from Full Sail. Having said that, everyone did a very good job in setting up the PPV for this weekend. Between the matches, vignettes from Tommaso Ciampa, promos from Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley and more, I was sold on why I should be invested in TakeOver. After all, that card looks absolutely stacked from top to bottom.

Rush to an upset – Count me as surprised that Lio Rush got the duke over the recently surging Angel Garza. Rush vs. NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jeremy Devlin should be fun! Makes me thing there are bigger things for Garza and that a longer stint on RAW could be coming for him.

No Queen – I’m glad they kept Charlotte Flair off NXT tv this week, keeping the focus on Ripley vs. Belair. There’s plenty of time to rev up the Road to WrestleMania for the Queen and the NXT Championship. Bianca stepped up and proved that she COULD possibly win.

The road to Portland – Loved the comedy bits from The Broserweights, Pete Dunne & Matt Riddle. Trying to get cross-country to Portland to face The Undisputed Era was hilarious until the boys finally hopped a ride on Triple H’s plane! Good stuff.

What we didn’t love:

Same ol’ story – You knew it was coming. Full Sail. Big brands need a big showcase. You’ll see it at TakeOver: Portland where the crowd will be off the hook! NXT deserves that big-game feel each week and they’ll get it in a few weeks when Full Sail has a booked commitment, according to Triple H. So, we’ll see if that leads to more changes ahead.

No love for Otis – So much build up just to see Otis walk out on his date with Mandy because Dolph Ziggler was there! Sorry, but I needed more! I get they’re building up to a major moment, but on Valentine’s Day, you must give me more than the 60 seconds we got. Still, breaks my heart!

Main event, huh! – I know Roman Reigns is the chosen one and the face of Smackdown. But how do the #1 contenders to the Smackdown Tag Team Titles, with a title match looming, lose to a team that’s been together only once or twice? Makes little sense to me.

Parting shots:

WrestleMania goes Hollywood again! WrestleMania will be in Los Angeles in 2021 in the new SoFi Stadium. Expect the WWE and FOX to go all out for that one!

Killer Kross signs with the WWE. It should only be a matter of time before we get Kross and Scarlet Bordeaux in a ring together, right!

Charlotte Flair and CM Punk talking on WWE Backstage was really good stuff. I wish they would give Punk a meatier role than just one-liners. I could’ve listened to more of Punk and Flair one-on-one for the full hour. That insight into the nerves and also Simone Johnson was really good! Too bad no one sees the show with it being on FS1 each week to the tune of under 200,000 viewers a week. Why not give it a weekend spot on FOX too?

"GOOD LUCK!!!" The 32nd episode of Kyuranger sends off one of its key member to its final journey...

NOTE: Several unrelated things before I moved on to the recap-view. I couldn't rewatched this episode again (with subtitle) sooner due to unexpected situations at home. Hence why this post takes a bit longer to publish. And one more thing, I'll be off the grid throughout next week to deal with personal affairs, so recap-view for episode 33 will also be delayed until after October 15th, 2017. I'll probably batch that one with episode 34 in the 3rd week of October.

- Okay, let's start. New broadcast time!!! 09.30 JST means I can now wake up later than usual (not that I could do that casually, due to my 'trained' biological clock... -_-). This new time slot however, means more 'noise' issues to the streaming. Both figuratively and literally, as in internet traffic problem that caused delays, and pesky annoyingly LOUD morning aerobic held by the neighbourhood community almost every Sunday. On the bright side, this reschedule means the absence of that usual time stamp/clock! Although it does feel odd (like something's missing or somehow LOL) and took me a while to get used to, this clean footage definitely looks so much better than before because of it. - The show itself celebrates its new schedule with a neat special intro-narration that occurs mid-fight. Opening sequence remains the same though, here I thought it would get revamped like "Kyoryuger". It also debuts a Holy Moly flashy fan-service grin-inducing "Kyulette Chance!" by the duo of Tsurugi who firmly believes he should be the new Commander, and Stinger who tags along for unknown reason. Gotta love Kotarou's reaction to these two, particularly the "You're making us Earthling looks bad" jab to the former... LOL. Not unlike the cool intro narration, I'm not sure if the pair will continue to do this in the next episode (since Xiao already shows up later in the closing scene). Nevertheless, this is a hillarious gem indeed. - Don Armage looks a bit desperate, that he's offering Vice-Shogun promotion for Malistrates who can take down the Kyurangers. This is where Kukuruga's subordinate Dogyun (whose design reminds me of Decepticon Shockwave) steps in. Apparently, the Jark Matter scientist has the ability to control machines, and wants to utilize this skill to activate the numerous Consumarz on Earth. Remember, those machines were all shutdown by Tsurugi when he was awaken from his cold-sleep. - On the protagonist side, Naga confirms that Don Armage is situated in the Crux System. Somewhere around there, at least (Naga with emotions means he can openly cast jokes now LOL). Unfortunately, the team is facing a problem: ORION's condition doesn't allow them to do that. Not only the spaceship is damaged, but it is also beyond repair. Aaaaw... T_T. - Raptor, who is troubled due to her deep connection with ORION, wants to use Dogyun's ability to help repair ORION. Unfortunately, the Malistrate's skill is nothing but a fraud. Tsurugi explains that the appliances only become active due to a liquid organism matrix that triggers their electric circuits. So Dogyun doesn't play a direct role on them. - Things get more troubling, as Tsurugi's premature leadership is already put into question. Raptor feels that ORION is one of their important comrade, while he thinks that's just her usual delusions. This provokes Raptor's emotions, who runs away thinking it's useless to fight. A good example to why an inconsiderate guy like Tsurugi shouldn't be assigned as the new Commander *sigh*. - Spada has always been linked to Raptor (classic Yellow-Pink trope if you will), so it comes off as natural that he would stand up and support her. Aside from confirming that they are the early Rebellion members (possibly after Xiao and Stinger, and before Hammy and Champ joined the group), Spada admits that ORION might've been the miraculous spaceship that Raptor suggests. I don't know about you, but this scene makes me curious to see more flashback to the Rebellion's foundation! - Knowing a brief history that leads towards Raptor's attachment to ORION, Lucky decides to look for her while the away team deals with Dogyun who has rigged another set of Consumarz to level the area. Raptor is about to give up, troubled by the fact that she won't be able to save a teammate. Lucky proves that he's a better candidate to be a Commander, by encouraging Raptor to stand up and do something better for ORION's sake: fight on, to save the universe! - It's really nice seeing Aquila Pink being so fierce and feisty in battle. Not only she (with Leo Red's help) saves the day by using Telescopium Kyu Globe to remove the slimes from the reactivated Consumarz, but her action and strong feeling totally reaches out to ORION. Dogyun combines 10 regular Consumarz into a 'Super Big' Consumarz that's set to collide with Earth, and Kyutamajin is unable to stop it. So who's coming to the rescue? It's none other than... ORION. - The spaceship sentiently lights up its last remaining power, transports Spada, Balance, and Kotarou (the three stayed behind inside the ship) into Kyutamajin for safety, and rams the Giant Consumarz away from its destination. Which also means, ORION is sacrificing himself to save the Kyurangers and Earth. And to top it all, in its very last seconds, the ship sends one last transmission to the team, and most likely to Raptor in person... "GOOD LUCK". Aaaaawww... the FEELS. Dang you Kyuranger, even your ship is giving me misty eyes. Fun fact: Just like what happened to Orion or various other elements of the series, this is another strong nod to "One Piece". In this case, ORION serves as the Going Merry 'situation' for the Kyurangers. - In the end, the other Kyurangers agrees with Raptor, acknowledging that the spaceship is indeed the unofficial 13th member of the team. They pay tribute to ORION as it joins the stars in the sky, while Xiao can be seen overseeing a behemoth of battleship that would inherit its heroic legacy (the official CM for one has already been aired! LOL). Farewell ORION, thanks for taking us through an amazing rollercoaster ride throughout 32 episodes. You shall not be forgotten!

Overall: Personally, I think this was a good episode. Wasn't at the heights of the previous ones, but an overall good one nonetheless. It put Raptor283 in the spotlight, progressed her personal character journey that have already begun since episode 4, but at the same time, affecting the whole team in a major way. Of course, not every audience would take this kindly, nor in a positive way. The barrage of long and pointless heated complaints for this episode on RangerBoard, firmly reminded me why I walked away from that forum (glad I never rejoined and served only as passive spectator until now... totally forgot my password anyway LOL). This wouldn't please those who kept on arguing about her lack of focus episode and exposure. Completely ignoring the fact that they have ironically been downplaying her crucial importance to the show (seriously, Kyuranger would be nothing without Raptor's presence, eventhough she largely operates in the background), under the disguise of 'her defense'. Some people just could never be satisfied with anything! If you ask me, the fact that this episode was able to slip in a moving moment as a climax, and made us relate to the struggle of an android (who is portrayed by suit + voice actor), is an amazing achievement on its own. Do I want to see more development and focus story for Raptor? Yes. Will we get any? Probably not, because the approach to treat female characters as secondary at best is a common thing in Super Sentai franchise. Then again, Kyuranger has surprised us plenty of times before, so let's hold our horses and don't jump the gun just yet... Next week: Eris! Orion! And the Kyurangers' search for a place called home... PS: Just restating what I've said above. I'll see you again with the next recap-view after October 15th! NSFW #07: Second Chance

One last check. John Bishop Church and Mike McGuire stood before the vanity mirror of a makeup table. John winced slightly as he adjusted the knot of his tie so it laid flush against the collar of his dress shirt. In the silence of this prelude, John’s soft breathing was ragged. His cheeks were pale and cool to the touch despite a layer of perspiration already accumulating on his forehead. He retrieved a handkerchief from the inside of his suit jacket and dabbed away the sweat before returning it back to its pocket. He averted his gaze from Mike even through the reflection. “Okay. Let’s do this.” “Hold up. One sec.” Mike looked to their partner with furrowed brows, an expression of genuine, heartfelt concern on their face. Reaching out, they place one hand on his arm. “It’s not too late to not do this. I mean if you want to hold off for this week I totally understand, and I bet Ashley and Iggy would too. I mean, no offense, you know that… but you look kinda awful.” “They don’t make that decision.” John looked down at her hand and smirked. The expression, imagined possibly, brought a little color back into his face. “I’ll be okay. I’ll have to be.” “If you say so, then I believe you. I mean, shit. I know how bad we both want this. Like, real fucking bad, more than anybody.” “Then, let’s show them.” The camera moved through a pair of doors into a magnificent reception hall, all vibrant, lush red and gold-veined white marble. Gilded alabaster pillars line the balcony, bordered by elegant black wrought railings. It took the viewer up the claret carpeted stairway, beneath the grand crystal chandelier, through another pair of doors into a gorgeous theater in the same color scheme, the high ceiling decorated with gilded scrolling and the seats upholstered in ruby. Finally, the camera stopped, its wielder taking a seat in the front row. The stage’s ceiling was blocked in burgundy and slopes back, the backdrop also deep red and white, the wooden planks of the stage floor slightly scuffed from years of use. The house lights dimmed, and at the center of all this majesty two spotlights hit the stage, one at each side. Into these, Bishop Church stepped into the left one, Mike McGuire the right, and the lights trailed them until they met in the center. Mike slowly, deliberately slipped her aviators off, grinning a bit. “Evening, EWC faithful. Look at where ya boys are at tonight! Check these digs out. Fancy, huh? Just perfect for a big occasion, and trust me on this- this is a big fucking occasion. And we were gonna pull out all the stops for it too. You wouldn’t believe the sheer level of ridiculous hijinx we had planned for this. But…” She gave a glance over to her partner. He, however, did not remove his shades. “Better reserved for our opponents. That is, after all, their modus operandi.For fun. Remember that? Mr. Lutter assembled a group of super friends that failed to live up to that ideal. And after a purge, he seems to have it just right.” John shrugged. “Swango. Brizzie. Don’t take that as a dismissal of your talents. Your detractors will label you inexperienced, ineffectual, and irreverent. However, at Night of Champions, they could only call you winners.” The lights rose just slightly, the ambience brightened a bit. From somewhere unseen, a soft, uplifting tune began to play. Not loud enough to be obstructive or drown out the words the pair were saying, though- just audible enough to be heard clearly. “You two got magic. The same kinda magic we had when we first started out. You literally just got your kite off the ground and you’re flying like a couple’a fuckin’ pros, and that’s badass. It’s not easy to do that, y’know. Tag teaming ain’t easy. Contrary to popular belief you can’t just throw two people together, no matter how capable, and expect them to win goddamn matches if they ain’t got a drop of chemistry. Heh, ask Merc and Jerk about that.” “You won’t get a real answer out of either of them.” And then John removed his shades as well. Normally his gaze was passive and distant but at this time, blue eyes stared at the viewing audience. Perhaps at NSFW’s opponents. “But that night. The very night that we broke The Limit, the landscape of the tag team division started to change for the better. Many will attribute it to our new Tag Team champions. Some even to Mike and myself. I would say that a bit of the credit belongs to the efforts made in the face of seemingly insurmountable adversity. So it is no surprise to me that you stand opposite of us. With the opportunity that we have been fighting every inch of the way for.” The lights brightened a little further. “You’re the challenge we’ve been waiting for. This division as it stands right now? It’s the division we’ve been wanting to fight in. And right past you? The chance we’ve been working so fuckin’ hard for, since day one. I’m pumped for it. Church is. We got electric in our veins, but… do you?” Mike’s brows furrowed, the lights dimming back down almost somberly, with a slight blue tinge. “Brizzie. You don’t have that For Fun mojo going on much right now. And I get it. I got nothin’ but respect for Nos, and I don’t blame you if your head ain’t in the game. But you gotta understand… you ain’t gonna beat us like that. Not by a long shot.” “As your fellow employers. Perhaps even your friends, we are deeply concerned with what has happened. But understand something.” He stepped forward. The lights began to brighten, the blue beginning to fade away. “Monday Night. Houston. The main event. Our very first main event. With the chance we’ve been asking for on the line. If your music plays. If you two walk out. If you get into the ring with Mike McGuire and Bishop Church, you are telling us one thing. That you are ready. The bell rings. Our concern takes a backseat. Losing this match means that we are deprived another chance to represent this division. This business means everything to me. It is the most important-” Mike reached out. Her hand rested comfortably on his jacket-sheathed bicep. “It is one of the most important parts of my life. I think I understand my partner enough by now to know that she agrees. I am not content to be on the sidelines however. That’s what losing that match will do to us. Losing means we sit back another night and watch other people take what we have earned with our blood. It would be foolish to make ultimatums. The world doesn’t end with one shortfall. But after all this time, it doesn’t feel right. So ask yourselves? With circumstances as they stand, what would a defeat mean to you? Chalk it up to inexperience. Momentum not being on your side maybe.” “Yeah. You guys are brand new, right out of the box. We ain't exactly old news ourselves, but we kinda got the ‘new car smell’ knocked off us by now. We got, in a way, more to gain from this than you two, and a hell of a lot more to lose. I don’t know how much you guys want the tag titles, but I can fuckin’ promise one thing. It ain’t near as much as we do.” The intensity of the lighting was almost at full house strength now, the coloring shed of its melancholy blue and, instead, tinged with gold. “We came here with two goals. Revive the tag team division, and be its fucking champions. I think we can consider Goal One met. Two? Like I mentioned. Runs right through the Rockin’ Dreamland you got going on. But we can’t stop. We WON’T stop. No Sympathy For Wifey- at least, not in between those bells. And I’m sorry if that seems mean. Trust me, I wish to fuck this thing with Nos wasn’t happening at all, much less now, but gold waits for nobody.” “So that is what I meant. You two come down and you forsake all of that strife for that moment in time. Iggy, Ashley, you took everything from two teams that didn’t give you a chance. We consider you two our greatest challenge.” He turned his head and addressed his partner eye to eye. “Mike, remember the last time we had a chance like this? We thought of ourselves to be the heirs apparent.” “And we came up fuckin’ short. Just by a hair, but you know what they say about horseshoes and hand grenades. We played it cool, y’know, ‘tomorrow is another day’ and all that positive happy crappy B.S. but you know what? It fuckin’ stung. And it’s a feeling I never… and I think I can safely say, WE never… want to deal with again. The fuckin’ feeling of seeing a golden opportunity slip through your fingers. We ain’t gonna let it happen again, no matter what we gotta do.” The soft gold illumination intensified, became sharper. “So come out. For Fun. And we’ll take everything you have and throw it back at you. No jokes. No time machines. No more silly names. No song and dance. No more platitudes about respect.” “This is our second shot for a shot. And it’ll be our last one, because after this one, we won’t fuckin’ well need another one. We’ve been put through a fucking meat grinder this summer. We’ve been table’d, chair’d, thrown off shit, beat to a fucking pulp, my partner damn near got disemboweled, and in the middle of all that, we’ve gone through damn near the entire division that WE rebuilt. Our literal blood, sweat, and tears are all over the fucking place.” More intense now. The entire stage was bathed in vivid golden light. “You guys got the magic, but you haven’t paid your dues. You haven’t earned it. You don’t have the rights to it, not yet.” “So we offer the same courtesy that we did to the Unholy Two. Sure, we’ve met. But we haven’t been formally introduced. Where it matters. Iggy Swango. Ashley Brizzie.” John put the aviators back on. “I’m Bishop Church.” Mike followed suit. “And I’m Mike McGuire.” “We are NSFW.” “And we’re the next EWC Tag Team Champions.” The golden light intensified so brightly that a bright, gilded flash was all that the camera could pick up. When it faded away, NSFW were gone. What does a team do after they rent out Heinz Hall for their own personal statement on their most important match to date? Go grocery shopping. John’s hands were ringed with the loops of plastic grocery bags. He let them slip from his fingers gently on the kitchen table. So I just wanted to know a little about the pay brackets with motorcycle. Im not talking specific numbers cause I know to just get a quota for that. What I heard is for things like scooters or bikes under 150cc there is a bracket. Then it goes up for anything between 150cc to less than 400cc. Then after that you can expect insurance to go up more when you get into the 600cc supersports and so on. I know im wording this kind of poorly. It makes sense just like how insurance for a Ferrari is going to more than a pickup truck or economy car. I just remember someone saying on a forum that they got a ninja 400r and they were happy that its technically a 399cc engine bucause if it was just a bit more the insurance would have gone up to the next class in motorcycle insurance. I just wanted to know if someone can help explain how this works. I wouldnt mind having something stronger than a 250 or 300 motorcycle but if it means that insurance is going to double or something for a 600 or 650 then I may stray away from it because I still have insurance for my car. Also on a side note how exactly does super sport insurance typically compare to standard bikes? For example maybe a gsxr 600 or CBR 600 vs something like a SV650. Had my car insurance cancelled. What can I do?

My car insurance company recently cancelled my policy due to unpaid direct debit. Here is what happened. My direct debit didn't get paid on the 8th Jan 2013 due to my bank refusing as I didn't have enough funds. 3 days later I recieved a letter through the post stating they will try again in 7 days. 10 days later they tried again and it said that it successfuly went through. It's now February, I just checked on the MID website and my car is uninsured! I checked my bank account and no payment went out this month, and last month, when the payment did go out succesfully, I notice on the same day the payment went back into my account! I can't phone my insurance company yet as its 6am but I assue they've cancelled it and are wanting me to pay the rest in full. Now, when I take out a new policy, will this effect me? I have been getting quotes already and I can see an option asking ''have you been refused insurance beofre?''. My answer would be no, I haven't. I have had it cancelled due to non payment but not refused. Or does 'refused' mean cancelled due to non payment?""

A couple weeks ago I was involved in an accident which was not my fault. The claim adjuster figured that it would cost 10k to fix my 03' VW Passat. Angels have always fascinated you no matter how much of a dick they can be. For one, they knew how to pack in the alcohol. Castiel decided to be a showoff and down eight full shot glasses, three of which have already been downed. Castiel goes to grab the next shot glass and began down them like they were water. You, Ellen, and Jo watched with amused smiles, but you had other things to do than watch an Angel try to get drunk.

Patting Castiel on the shoulder, you left his side to join Sam and Dean who were by your father’s library.

“It's gotta be a trap, right?” Sam asked.

He was sitting on the right side of the desk, and Dean on the opposite side. Placing your ass on the side of the desk that Dean was sitting on, you joined in on their conversation.

“Sam Winchester, having trust issues with a demon. Well, better late than never,” Dean scoffed.

“Thank you again for your continued support.”

“You’re welcome.”

“You know, trap or not, we got a snowball's chance. We gotta take it, right?” you asked after they clinked glasses and drank.

“Yeah, I suppose.”

“Besides, I'm not sure it is a trap. Check it out. I mean, Carthage is lit up like a Christmas tree with Revelation omens. And look at this,” Dean slid over some papers to Sam’s side, and you craned your neck to look at them. “There's been six missing persons reported in town since Sunday. I think the devil's there.”

“Good,” you nodded.

“Look, when you think about it... you can't come with,” Dean spoke to his brother.

“Dean,” Sam rolled his eyes.

“Look, I go against Satan and screw the pooch, okay. We've lost a game piece. That we can take. But if you're there, then we are handing the devil's vessel right over to him. That's not smart.”

“Since when have we ever done anything smart?” you scoffed.

“I’m being serious here.”

“So are we. Haven't we learned a damn thing? If we're gonna do this, we're gonna do it together.”

“Okay. But it's a stupid fucking idea,” Dean sighed, looking away.

Castiel, Jo, and Ellen caught the attention of you three, and you chuckled when Castiel was still downing the shots.

“Boy, talk about stupid ideas,” Sam laughed.

“Good God. True, that,” Dean smiled.

“I’m going to go get another beer,” you patted Dean’s shoulder, got up, and left for the kitchen.

When you got a bottle, Dean was standing right behind you with a look in his eyes that he only got whenever he was in the mood.

“No,” you shook your head.

“I didn’t even say anything.”

“I know that look in your eyes, Dean. I’ve been knowing it for four years now. You think this is the end of the world, well, we’re going to spend it fighting. I will say this though, if we come out of it, then we can talk about what’s really going through your mind, yeah?” you winked.

“Deal,” he grinned, leaning down and giving you a loving kiss.

“Everybody get in here! It's time for the lineup. Usual suspects in the corner,” your father yelled from the living room.

Everyone got up and did as they were told, only to see a camera set up to face the corner.

“Oh, come on, Bobby. Nobody wants their picture taken,” Ellen groaned.

“Hear, hear.”

“Shut up. You're drinking my beer,” Your dad said as he fumbled with the camera.

Once he got it to be where he wanted it to, he rolls his wheelchair back. The order everyone got into was first Castiel, Sam, Ellen, Jo, Dean, you, and finally your dad. Your hand was placed on your dad’s shoulder, Sam’s was around Castiel’s, and Dean’s was around Jo’s.

“Anyway, I'm gonna need something to remember your sorry asses by,” your dad said. Everyone was smiling for the camera as it ticked down.

“Ha! Always good to have an optimist around,” Ellen chuckled.

“Bobby's right. Tomorrow we hunt the devil. This is our last night on earth,” Castiel said, ruining the mood.

Everyone’s smiles disappeared just as the camera took the picture.

The town the demons were settling in was strangely quiet. Missing posters were tackled to almost all the telephone poles, and much like the town that had the Croatoan virus and the town in 2014, this one was trashed. The Impala drives slowly into town followed by a car that had Jo, Ellen, and Castiel in it. You, Sam, and Dean held your cell phones out of the open windows, trying to see if you could get a signal as the car moved on.

“Either of you getting a signal?” you asked.

“No, nothing. Nice and spooky,” Dean sighed, waving at Ellen to pull up next to him.

“Demons should be on our ass right now. Where are they?” you asked.

“Place seem a little empty to you?” Ellen asked.

“We're gonna go check out the PD. You guys stay here, see if you can find anybody,” Dean instructed.

“Okay.”

Dean took off to the police department while the other three stayed where they were. The police department, the pharmacy, grocery store, and nearby houses were all empty. You had a gut feeling that something wasn’t right about this. After checking out all the basic areas, you met up with Ellen and Jo only to find Castiel gone.

“Station's empty.”

“So's everything else,” Jo sighed.

“Where is Castiel?” you asked.

“We were hoping you’d know. He went after the reapers.”

“Reapers?” you asked.

“He saw reapers? Where?”

“Well, kind of everywhere,” Jo shrugged.

“That’s not good,” you sighed. “Well, we’re not accomplishing anything just by sitting here. Gear up.”

Everyone got out of their cars and gathered all the weapons they could carry before continuing on foot. You were in the lead since if anything was to happen, you could at least deflect the attack while everyone else got their weapons ready. Castiel was nowhere to be found, and that usually meant something bad happened to him.

“Well, this is great. Been in town twenty minutes, and already lost the angel up our sleeve,” Dean sighed.

“You think, uh, Lucifer got him?” Sam asked.

“I don’t know what else to think.”

“There you are,” a woman said from behind.

Everyone stopped and turned to face the new presence, and your eyes narrowed in hatred.

“Meg,” you growled.

“Shouldn't have come here, girls and boys.”

“Hell, I could say the same thing for you,” Dean threatened, pointing the Colt at her.

“Didn't come here alone, Deano,” she grinned.

From right next to her, something splashed in a puddle. The sound of dogs growling and barking could be heard. As much as you wanted your magic to fix this, you couldn’t see hellhounds. They were invisible to everyone but demons and angels.

“Hellhounds,” Dean stated.

“Yeah, Dean. Your favorite. Come on, boys. My father wants to see you.”

“I think we'll pass, thanks,” you stated.

“Your call. You can make this easy or you can make it really, really hard,” she giggled. Looking back at Ellen and Jo, you got your answer when Ellen nodded once.

“When have you known us to ever make anything easy?” you asked.

Dean smirked and shot the Colt at one of the dogs, taking it in the dark. He apparently hit one of them because blood spurts from one of the hellhounds next to Meg’s feet.

“Run!” Sam yelled.

Without thinking, everyone took off running in the opposite direction. Meg just stood there with a dumb smile on her face while the other hellhounds chased after the group. Since Dean was the one closest to Meg, the hellhound got to him first, tackling him to the ground.

“Dean!” both you and Jo yelled.

Balls of magic formed between your hands, and you threw it at the hellhound on Dean which encompassed the entire dog. Now that you could see the outline of the body, you threw off the hellhound as far as your magic would allow. While you were busy with that, Jo went to help Dean to his feet. Before she had a chance to escape with him, another hellhound rushed towards her and knocked her down. Its claws ripped into her side, and she screamed out in pain.

“No!” Ellen screamed.

Knowing where the dog was, you dug your hands into its back before ripping him off Jo. Throwing the dog as far as you could, you made a half-forcefield around the group to keep the dogs away. Dean scooped up Jo, and Sam led everyone into the nearest store which was a hardware store. Meg watched in disdain as you used your magic to deflect her animals. She remembers when she first came face to face with you, you were nothing but a pathetic human.

Now, she had something to fear.

After everyone got into the store, Sam made sure it was locked up tight so that no hellhound could get in. Dean leaned Jo against the counter, and she was whimpering in pain. Now that you had some time to think, you rushed to her side to see the damage. It was pretty bad, the damage, and you knew you needed to do something to heal her. Sam and Dean grabbed rock salt to line the doors and windows with it while you stayed with Ellen and Jo.

“Jo, you’re going to be okay,” you repeated, pulling back Jo’s hand from the injury to look at it.

Due to there not being a barrier to hold in the blood, it began spurting out haphazardly. Ellen gave you a look of panic, and you tried to use your magic to heal her. Your hands glowed bright blue, and they ghosted over the wound. It was healing, but not fast enough. Jo was losing too much blood for you to heal her quick enough.

“Jo, you’re going to be alright,” you cried. “I’m trying to fix this.”

“It’s okay,” she whispered.

“We need bandages!” you yelled.

It took some time, but Jo was all bandaged up. She was bleeding through the gauze, but that’s all you could do at this point without any proper equipment.

“Gonna be alright,” Ellen whispered.

She was holding her daughter in her arms as they both sat on the ground with their backs to a counter. Sam was helping with them while you and Dean tried to make a radio to get in contact with your dad who was probably ripping his hair out from stress and worry. Dean would make one, and you would be the one to give it the power it needed.

“How’s she holding up?” Sam asked when he joined the two of you. “Salt lines are holding up.

“Safe for now,” Dean sighed.

“We have to do something.”

“Hey, you heard Meg. Her father's here. This is our one shot, Sammy. We gotta take it, no matter what,” Dean said. He fumbled with the radio before turning to you. “You’re up.”

“Sam, some help here, please?” Ellen called out.

Your right hand glowed blue, and you placed it on the side of the radio which sparked it to life.

“K C 5 Fox Delta Oscar, come in,” Dean said into the mouthpiece.

“K C 5 Fox Delta Oscar, go ahead,” your father said after a few concerning pauses.

“Bobby, it's Dean and Y/N. We got problems.”

“It's okay, boy. That's why I'm here. Is everyone alright?”

“No, dad, it’s Jo. Dad, it’s pretty bad,” you cried when you reminded yourself of the circumstances.

“Okay, copy that. So, now we figure out what we do next.”

“Dad, I don’t think she’s—”

“I said, what do we do next, Y/N?” your dad urged.

He knew you were in a great deal of pain, but you needed to focus.

“Right, okay right,” you sniffled.

“Now, tell me what you got,” he said.

It didn’t take long to tell your dad everything that was happening here, and when you finished, he spoke. “Before he went missing, did Cas say how many reapers?”

“I don't—he said a lot of things, I guess. Does the number matter?” Dean asked.

“Devil's in the details, Dean,” he sighed.

A bloody hand tapped on your shoulder, and you turned to see Ellen standing there with a stone look on her face. Nudging Dean, he passed the mouthpiece over to the woman to let her speak.

“Bobby, it's Ellen.

The way he was looking, and the number of places Castiel's eyes went, I'd say we're talking over a dozen reapers, probably more.”

“I don't like the sound of that.”

“Nobody likes the sound of that, Bobby, but what—wh—what does that sound like?”

“It sounds like death, son. I think Satan's in town to work a ritual. I think he's planning to unleash Death.”

“You mean, like, as in this dude and taxes are the only sure thing?” Dean asked.

“As in Death. The horseman. The pale rider in the flesh.”

“Unleash? I mean, hasn't Death been tromping all over the place? Hell, I've died several times myself.”

“Not this guy. This is—this is the angel of death. Big daddy reaper. They keep this guy chained in a box six hundred feet under. Last time they hauled him up, Noah was building a boat. That's why the place is crawling with reapers. They're waiting on the big boss to show.”

“You have any other good news?” you asked.

“In a manner of speaking,” he said, shuffling through some books or papers. “I’ve been researching Carthage since you've been gone, trying to suss out what the devil might want there. What you just said drops the last piece of the puzzle in place. The angel of death must be brought into this world at midnight through a place of awful carnage. Now, back during the Civil War, there was a battle in Carthage. A battle so intense the soldiers called it the Battle of Hellhole.”

“Where did this go down?”

“On the land of William Jasper's farm.”
