I’m not upset Venom died and I’m not worried it’s permanent, I’m mad that their relationship and character development somehow regressed. I’m upset that it looked like Eddie didn’t give a shit that his “best friend in the whole world” just died for his sake in front of him. And instead of giving us any sort of emotional reaction from Eddie we got what looks like a TikTok edit made by a fourteen year old on CapCut. Eddie should have at least, like, cried or something. Though realistically that man should have been sobbing on the ground screaming “please don’t leave me! I need you!” In the first movie when Venom is sacrificing himself Eddie shouts “Venom no!!!” And they had been together for, like, three days. You really telling me that the death of your year long companion doesn’t make you shed a single tear???

Also! All of this is emphasized by the fact that Eddie spent the entire movie bitching and moaning about how much stuff sucked that when Venom died it kind of came across as Eddie being relieved of Venom as a burden on his life. It kind of seemed like Eddie was happy about this outcome and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Both Max and Charles drowned him in champagne, were so happy for him and made that 1st win podium even better with their supportive attitude.

I know he didn't actually leave, but turning his back on Oscar on his first win in F1?! I genuinely expected better than this, the way Lewis acted was such a let down.

Seeing Oscar left there alone made me so sad. He deserves so much more than this.

Before the cultists and Lando's fans jump on their defence, I saw they were both spraying Oscar later and so on, but if you compare Lando's 1st win podium and how Max and Charles acted to Oscar's and Lewis and Lando's behaviour (edit: new source, if the link doesn't work).

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that Retsuko became a love interest and side character in her own show? While Haida took over an became the main character? It feels like they’re the type of het couple where all the development and focus is on the guy and the woman is just there.

Does she even want to be with Haida? Does she actually have feelings for him? There’s not much to indicate that she wants to be with him. They had five seasons to work on that and they barely let the audience know what she really wants. Actually, it doesn’t feel like Retsuko has any agency in her relationship and in the show.

I’m fed up with interesting female characters being reduced to fodder for a male character’s development. The fact that it happened in the titular character’s own show really stings. I genuinely liked them together as a couple in season 5. But I still wish that they focused on Retsuko’s feelings for Haida instead of spending so much time on his love life.
