A character playlist that Judge Claude Frollo would burn me at the stake for haha :o) I always had a problem with finding a satisfying music playlist for this old man. Sadly none of the ones already created on Spotify fit with my idea of the character and didn’t caress my ears. And so I decided to try myself (to take up the same old ways, so to speak). It's up to you to judge whether I succeeded. (Pun intended)

hbomb's blast of james somerton really makes me think back to other older youtubers who have been doing their good work, performing critical research and analyses into niche fields who then had their work plagiarized from their videos and henceforth wanted to stop making content.

yeah and also they got pushback from the internet saying the degree of plagiarism they'd experienced is a made up problem.

hardly a hot take in the year two thousand twenty-four but the original "part of your world" is so incredible. the emotion and earnestness of jodi benson's performance, the simple sweep and swell of the orchestration...it was written for a very specific visual accompaniment, but even divorced from it, it is so married to its setting and characters in everything from the lyrics to the choice of instrumentation. it pushes! it pulls! quiet moments flank every big swell, yet the song never loses its momentum, never forgets how strongly ariel feels about the surface world. howard ashman you will never be forgotten, this song truly changed the world

When I was younger, I used to think that I didn't like musicals. But now that I have grown and matured, it just turns out that I held in my heart an absolute burning hatred for Frozen. And I still do.

literally the only complaint i have about the little mermaid is just how much i wish they had used at least SOME of the broadway songs

"wild uncharted waters" was really beautiful, but "her voice" just has such a special place in my heart, and paired with the "if only" quartet???? if they had just included those two songs i think i would have died happy

(also triton's words to ariel of "you shouldn't have had to give up your voice for me to listen" would have been the absolute most amazing callback to his final lines in "if only" where he sings "i should have started listening to you long ago")

however "for the first time" had me crying in my seat, and the shift where everything disappears except for ariel to represent us being in her mind so she's actually singing, then going back to being a voice over??? are you kidding me??? and the way she reacts when she sees eric?????? one of my favorite scenes in the entire movie

These two mice have my heart and so does epic the musical, I absolutely love both of them and everything about them, and learning to draw these mice the way I wanted in 2024 was one of the best achievements of the entire year for me. ❤️🩷

The Mufasa movie was really good and really bad at the same time but it wasn't bad for any of the main reasons people are saying it was bad for, y'know?
