sorry for posting so much about the neil gaiman thing im very opinionated but heres my general take on neil gaiman (TW FOR S/A AND SU1C1D3!!!!)

good omens fandom please read this. yall need it

i wanna start with: believe victims. it might not be as bad as it was claimed to be bc the reporter was an anti bdsm terf who considers all bdsm 🍇 (including the bdsm w neil), but there was still clearly manipulation, weaponized power imbalance, and dubious consent. even if it wasnt s/a, it was fucked up. neil did some fucked up things

while we dont know if he actually s/ad those women, neil gaiman is clearly flawed

ive seen time and time again that his fans (specifically the good omens fandom) can get so viciously defensive of him that they refuse to see any flaws he has

as someone who was ruthlessly attacked because of neil, i hesitate to give him the benefit of the doub

when i had just turned 13, id just gotten on tumblr. i was thrilled that good omens season 2 was coming out. i was even more thrilled to see neil gaiman on tumblr. so i sent him an ask where i asked if crowley and aziraphale would kiss. i get why that was annoying. he probably got those asks all the time. but i worded it respectfully, and i was genuinely unaware that he was annoyed by this question

he responded to my ask with a multi paragraph callout post talking about how sick of this question he was. harsh, but not necessarily nefarious

the response wasnt the problem. it was that i got so many hate comments and death threats and people telling me i didnt deserve joy and i was ruining neils life and so many fucking anon "kys" asks that i had to quit tumblr. i tried to apologize to neil, i sent him countless apology asks where i begged him to ask people to stop cyber bullying me, but he never responded. it took years before i was able to communicate to him all the hate id received. his response was a basic "sorry for the miscommunication" and that he wished there was a way to convey tone on the internet (someone said "there is! tonetags!!" and he responded with "i dont like those"). the SAME COMMUNITY who told me to kms was suddenly saying "oh neil your such a saint" (THE TERM SAINT WAS USED MULTIPLE TIMES!!!!!) and "this poor ignorant child"

i was a kid and i was bullied off the internet and neil didnt respond to my pleas for forgiveness for almost 2 years. i was also in the most unstable time of my life. i was EXTREMELY suicidal. people telling me to kms deeply affected me

plus he reblogs a ton of "vote blue no matter who" stuff. i dont agree w that statement but i think its okay for people to say if they actively support palestine. but neil gaiman doesnt post about palestine ever other than reblogging posts that say "sure maybe the stuff in palestine is bad but if you dont support biden 100% democracy will crumble!!!" also im pretty sure he never apologized for some older zionist posts

ive seen a lot of stuff where people are saying "hey shhh its okay i see good omens fans getting sad bc of the stuff with neil but its ok!! youre still a good person even if you ignore this issue!!" and like. huh??? i dont think ignoring it makes you evil but its certainly fucked up to not be critical of the media you consume. pretending nothings going on is immature. you all sound like jk rowling fans smh

his general attitude towards fans makes me uncomfortable. ive seen people bare their souls in his asks (all of them start with something along the lines of "oh sir mister gaiman sir i am nothing but a disgusting peon compared to you you saved my life id die for you!!!") and he gives rude cold responses. i mean of course he gets annoyed and of course he gets spam but no one is forcing him to respond to asks. he doesnt seem to care very much??? this doesnt make him a bad person ofcourse but it does give me the ick

summary: even if he didnt s/a those women his fans need to grow up. he is not a pure perfect person. he might not be evil but he makes some extremely damaging choices. hes not a saint and never has been. at the end of the day, hes a rich cishet white man

bfdkjfdh im cry,,,, just keep practicing my friend!!! i promise it’ll get you where you want to go. the last couple of months have been really nice for me in my ~art journey~ because its the first time i’ve ever really liked stuff that i’ve drawn. ive been drawing for about 7-8 years and this is only just happening and it varies so much from person to person!! some people get to where they want to go in 2 years, some people take 20. just don’t stop practicing!!

additional: went off topic with the hair question a bit. their bright hair is all part of the transformations. regular hair dye does exist though. best way to tell is that if the eyebrow matches the hair its probably not dyed. also, quartz’s hair is naturally ginger.

also was gonna keep this in the tags but thought i might as well actually try to answer it: the question i found it hardest to answer was someone the song one. my taste in music is. a mess really. ive been listening to like the same 5 songs on repeat all day. more under the cut because i was rambling again and now its uhhh half 1am

if it helps at the time of answering that specific question i had home by cavetown on repeat, and that song reminds me of both rami and lewis. but that may be because i project onto those two a lot, and as a aro trans dude. who sucks with people skills, yeah of course i love that song.

specifically the vibes of like not knowing how to communicate (rami is fine with his friends but other people are different), the lines “ Turn off your porcelain face, I can't really think right now and this place, Has too many colors, enough to drive all of us insane” idk what the porcelain face line is supposed to mean but im picturing it as like. a mask. that you need to take off and stop hiding and rami does tend to hide when hes feeling upset, and the next two lines kinda could tie into that, like the feeling of when youre overwhelemed and just want the world to stop so you just hide somewhere. also the colours could go with chapter 3 with the chromatic abberation.

also the bit with “ my eyes went dark, I don't know where, my pupils are, But I'll figure out a way to get us out of here” just kinda sums up ramis whole hero thing with his powers and all. anyway this has turned into less what songs rami would like and why this particular song reminds me of him and lewis (lewis specifically has the hair cutting/chest hiding, [big transmasc mood], and also messy haired trainwreck who doesnt know who he is yet. also the ghosts bit)

i did end up picking upbeat songs because ramis a dude who like to try and be upbeat even if things arent. even if hes not really feeling it he will pretend to.

then a giant wall of text reading: “Supers have only existed for a relativly short time, since the early 1940s. momento mori was the second person to have ever gained powers.

Only a small number of the population are supers! the chances are higher in more populated cities, but unusally london has oneof the higher percentages of supers. while nobody in universe has any idea of the origins of superpowers, it does seem that powers are more likely to occur in people who would actually use their powers.

as for what powers are most common, after making a badly catagorized spreadsheet of every superpowered character ive made for this world (70% of which will probably never even be seen), turns out that elemental powers are the most common. although not all elemental powers manifest as the straight up 'controling this element' as seen in characters like lin or tsunami. for example, iris's powers would fall under shadow elemntal powers, but theyre a lot more weird that just controlling shadows.there are some abilities that have never been seen before,such as ressurection or full on time travel (aka anything that could bring a character back to life), but powers are certainly allowed to toe the line eg healing, powers involving undeath, immortality, pausing or manipulating time.

aside from that, anything goes. you could get plain old superstrength, but you could also get the ability to create dogs with your mind. other not quite rules, more guidelines are that supers are immune to their own powers hurting them (unless they were pushing themselves too hard), although the way the imminuties occur may be inconvinient to the super.

while some powers may be 'more powerful' than others, powers dont really get to be way underpowered or overpowered in comparision to others. sure being able to talk to animals may feel a bit useless compared to someone who can lift 4 tanks at once, but nobodys going to end up with a power like 'can turn into a goose but only once' or 'can grow toenails twice as fast' or 'if i sneeze i can change my hair colour'. at the same time, youre not going to get someone with the power to snap their fingers and level a city, or instantly blow up the moon or whatever.

Absolutely yes. Theres this one frostiron fic I've read 4 times now and another I've read twice and will again soon ehe. And then i reread all my favourite Dadriel after i read all the Dadriel fics that existed.

For the frostiron its cause they made me feel. Like i smiled and i screamed but i also sobbed at those two. The one I've read three times is 100k+ words lemme tell you its a ride. And yea in general if i really enjoy a fic ill go back and reread it

The way some ace exclusionists talk about ace people in general like every single ace person looks the same, likes the same things, has the same opinions and that every last one of us is on tumblr is honestly fucking hilarious how wrong it is.

They act like they got the entire fucking asexual community figured out and because they are just " so knowledgable" on it, they have enough proof to satisfactorily make fun of it and judge every last individual in it. Tbh stepping away from both the inclusionist and exclusionist circle jerks has been so refreshing. I was both, ive been in both midsets tbh most of you are trash to other people and that's why im neutral.

Inclusionists have a flawed mindset inherently. Inclusion is not king in a community intended for oppressed people. Your too forgiving, often young, impressionable and just want to be everybody's friend. You want to be accepting and that mindset is great but i dont think its a coincidence that you often over lap with people who find other things excusable. You were the group that was exclusively pro-map. No exclusionists touched that side. You often are fujoshis, anti-antis and other people who want to take advantage of young people to change the world to be more crime friendly, expecially towards pedophiles, rapists and incestors. Who want you to mindlessly nod your head to let whatever in because it makes you seem like a good soul. Its not good. Your not helping anyone and being nothing but a nodding smiling bystander who cant pick a side and is too busy hyperfixating on good omens or other shit made by deplorable people to notice people being killed in the streets.

Exclusionists are abit better but often too have a flawed mindset. They are critical and skeptical and it keeps them from supporting bad people which is good. They often keep a vigilant eye to make sure they know what they are consuming and arnt willing to let a single one of them get away with x-phobic behavior, that is, only in one place and thats aphobia. They often are too critical and are set in their mindsets convinced that anyone new is a traitor and they can only really ever trust their friends. Thats sad cause it means they've been hurt before by new comers, most likely more than twice. But being over critical can be a very dangerous path that usually starts edging on non-acceptance and into bigotry. Thats why its common amoungst transmeds and nbphobic people. Even though rare, can eventually lead towards incelic beliefs, all of it usually based on complete distrust of the individual in question and polical panic. Their paranoid and they lash out to hide it.

So your probably one way or the other and look at me and go " well lefty, your critisim is correct but if neither side is truely correct than what should i be?" The answer is to be factual and critical within reason and still be a good open-minded and kind person. There is a golden median but everyone is so passionate, facts dont see the light of day or are only shown on one side. If your offended by what im saying, your scared and distrusting. Ive been in both communties for a nearly equal long amount of time and i know pretty much how they function. Its cool if you arent ready to accept the toxicity of both of them and you laugh at this old cooke for being stupid cause your obviously 100% correct but you'd only be proving me right.

Both sides have inherent flaws and to ignore them is ignorance. But that's the thing. Everyone is so wrapped on if x group Really belongs here or not that nothing is changing. No one will step away and ask how to fix it. Its the same stupid arguement repetitively and usually results in the same stupid way. Someone says something outright bigoted or pointing out a flaw in the othersides logic and then someone completely ignores them only to point at them, not face the person but instead their followers and usually follow up with one of 4 responces. 1. A meme and nothing but shock, 2. A non-refute other than stating their opinion in a dif, bigger or colored tumblr font, 3. An actual informed responce with no sources or 4. Someone repeating something they read somewhere else with broken/unrelated links and opinionated guilt tripping and manipulating speech.

Its all about being cool to their followers and showing their full rainbow of rage to their rivals. If they appear unapproachable, uncaring and cool, people will be too afraid to approach them for fear of being shut down. They are popular but not because of them but because they reinforce the beliefs of a majority of their audience. They only like you because you are a safe place for their opinions and you are an echo. Your the cave walls that say exactly what they say and they like you. Once they hear too many things they disagree with, they will leave you. They will drop you like a hot potato. I know this feeling. I lived it bitch.

The way i see it, i have the most followers i have anywhere here. Upwards of 400. If they were to drop to 10 overnight, i would be confused and maybe a little sad but overall? Id still carry my own damn opinions and keep making posts like i always have. I dont want a false audience, even if it means more people. My opinions are my own and even though its really nice and validating to see that bit of what i feel is clarity beyond the tumblr haze of people with similar opinions, i still feel confedient enough in my own beliefs that even if they werent there, id still carry on. I want to be honest here. I wont pretend to like, support, hate or slander something just because its popular. Im old enough and mature enough to not give into to tumblr peer pressure. Many people do and that's why we see them lose themselves. I did at some point. But even though a mix of lesbian content and political opinions arent popular, its still what i wanted from this blog.

I post what i want to post and say what i want to say and im confedient enough in my opinions, beliefs and self that i dont rely on others to tell me how to feel. Thats not to say that im not open minded and vigilant to important issues that do not effect me such as racism, anti-semitism, transmysogny, biphobia, etc but it dosent mean i cant relate, understand and help dismantle the belief systems that people like me on this axis of oppression have created and be sure not to contribute to them.

In the end be vigilant and critical but dont be so lost in the negative you cant be kind and understanding.

I think Patreon sends its emails at the same time each day, regardless of when I post. I certainly don’t type there early in the morning.

Sometimes I’m on nightshift and can get kinda bored at 3am sometimes.

Sometimes I just can’t sleep, especially with the changing day/night cycles.

So her normal vet takes the approach of having one of us hold/console her while they do all the poking and listening and whatnot and muzzling her if they need to and just getting it done as quickly as possible. But this last time she saw a new vet and this vet took the approach of hand-feeding her almost an entire bag of treats and called it "stress-eating" and tbh you should have seen the look on my dogs face. She was so weirded out. Shes highly food motivated so it was like heaven to her but she was simultaneously very suspicious. Her face was like"i love this but idk if i trust it" it was great.Have a greatday!

If you an reinforce the behaviour by arranging frequent, short visits to the vet clinic where nothing happens but lots of treats, she may start to associate the vet clinic with positive things (food) ad no scary things. This might make the rest ofher life easier.

I would like to suggest that any surgery on a rat is likely to be not simple, because they do have particular anesthetic requirements that can make their recovery difficult. Also that a lot of traditional rat medicine hinges on using post mortem examination as a diagnostic tool, which is not useful at all with pet rats.

In dog and cat medicine most of our equipment and even medications are not suitable for rats, or very difficult to adapt. We simply have fewer options, and generally less experience with these species Most vets I know will attempt to treat them, but with a great big disclaimer saying I don’t do this often, and a quick question as to whether you’d prefer to go to a nearby clinic that does see rats more often.

You can use capstar on kittens from 4 weeks of age, and Revolution from 6, probably earlier. Talk to your vet.

She is probably not going to have any long term personality changes from being desexed, though might be out of sorts for a few days after the anaesthetic. If anything they tend to be less stressed because they’re not attracting Toms.

We send our patients home with aftercare instructions. We have a default one that we print for routine surgery like desexing, and a customized one for non-routine procedures.

We also read it out to our clients when they pick up their pet, and point out that all these instructions are written down, because it’s easy to forget details when you’re worried.

It may be stress, but you should consult your vet to rule out any underlying urinary tract issue before assuming so. Your vet should be able to discus the various stress reducing techniques, changes and treatments that are available.

I have said many times before that if it’s working, keep feeding it.

Novel protein diets, and ideally single proteins source diets, are more use for allergies than just going ‘grain free’.

‘Grain Free’ labelling on food particularly vexes me because it’s not regulated. You can find ‘grain free’ food that really mean ��corn free’ and either use grain byproducts or straight up use rice. Last time I checked, rice was a grain.

It’s like ‘Hollistic’ - it means nothing on a pet food label. Neither does ‘Organic’, pet food companies do not have to use all organic products in pet food to label the food as organic. These are marketing ploys like ‘all natural’ which are targeting your emotions and don’t mean anything when it comes to the food.

If you’ve come across a novel protein diet, or a minimum ingredient diet, that is beneficial for your cats then stick with it. But recognise what’s marketing and what’s useful.

I would suggest that you potentially need to figure out what motivates your dog most. Consider using positive reinforcement to encourage him to heel on the lead, instead of wandering and pulling.

You might also want to consider something like a halti collar, which pulls the dog’s nose downwards to their chest when they pull, instead of something that goes around the neck.

No. And here’s the thing- all modern dog breeds are equally distant from their wolf-like ancestor, unless they have been recently mixed with wolves again.

Their health problems are different to those dogs with more extreme anatomy, but dogs that look like wolves are not inherently healthier.

Certainly.

This is called line breeding, where the offspring of a ‘perfect’ individual are repeatedly bred back to the same individual generation upon generation to try to recreate it. All you really do is lose genetic diversity very quickly and allow recessive deleterious genes to proliferate in the population.

This is why just about everywhere else that’s not the purebred pet world, this is considered a bad thing to do.
