Ahhh thank you so so much!! ❤️ I absolutely love writing angst, I don't entirely know why but something about all those raw, painful feelings that come out are just so fun to write. Especially when you finally get to the happy conclusion of things and it feels that much more satisfying after everything!

but mama's boy telemachus sat by her feet as she wove tapestry after tapestry; and penelope told her little wolf stories of his father

how they met, how he tripped over himself to woo her, how he cried his eyes out when penelope became pregnant, how telemachus wouldn't sleep in his cot as a baby because he was so used to being in his father's arms because odysseus would not put him down; and yes, how viciously he defended their family when the atrides came to retrieve him for the war

telemachus? the child of the Unhinged Power Couple? who knew very well how horrible those suitors were, how they treated him and spoke of his mother?

took one look at his dad viciously protecting their home, their family, and thought he was the coolest, strongest person ever (after mom ofc)

ngl i wish there were more books and fanfic in AAVE/Ebonics set during the 21st century. There's something very comfortin' about seeing the way you converse everyday with your family and friends on paper that really puts things into perspective. Even more scenes of family cookouts, talks with grandma about childhood and when you see her recounting instances that you immediately recognize as racism, spinin' da nite with your cousins, flinching from the hot comb, hbcu parties/frat probate practice, etc. Those are little pockets that carry so many funny, sweet, sad moments. We really live in a different world and its something to see it all laid out and be like 'damn we really livin' like dis' whether its on how we influence the whole world, mindin' out black ass business, or how we have to live with the world constantly shitin' on us. But also I wanna see how our languages and dialects have evolved since Black Classics.
