We waited three years… for THAT?!

All that buildup in Season 1 regarding the war between Piltover/Topside and Zaun/The Undercity essentially meant jack cause apparently Noxus was the true enemy all along.

Heimerdinger? Dead.

Jayce? Dead (Allegedly)

Jinx? Dead (Also allegedly)

Viktor? Dead (again, allegedly)

Warwick? Dead (A L L E G E D L Y)

CaitVi got their sex scene but in the most inappropriate place possible. Did it have to be in the place where Vi was repeatedly abused and Jinx was thinking of offing herself??

MelJay… oh meljay my beloved you guys truly deserved better holy shit. All so that the focus could be more on JayVik. And i dont hate the ship, but it was clearly established that MelJay had a strong bond. And for them to end like that??? Really????

I don’t care that Mel didn’t end up pregnant, but her reunion with Jayce was so half-assed. Like, i get it, they’re both traumatized and have changed as people, but after all of their moments, after everything they’ve been through THATS IT?????

I know SkyVik isn’t canon but Sky deserved better wtf. Having her establish a relationship with Viktor just to be brushed off again???

TimeBomb isn’t technically canon but it is canon that Ekko had/has a crush on Jinx, and they weren’t totally fringed so that nice i guess. But it still would have been nice to see how Ekko convinced Jinx to team up with him instead of just cutting to the next scene.

Overall, this season wasn’t the worst I’ve seen, but the writing and pacing could have been soooo much better. If there was just one extra season and some tweaks in the writing then perhaps it could have been better.

Not only that, but I came in with the knowledge that the show was now canon, so i assumed we’d have the characters develop into their game personalities and then they just… didn’t.

We could have seen how Vi struggled with being an enforcer and eventually accept her new position as a way to help both Piltover and Zaun and make the enforcers better alongside Caitlyn.

We could have seen Jinx decide to live by her own rules and not be beholden to anyone’s expectations of her, to do as she pleases, and just go wild.

Where was Viktor actually becoming the actual Machine Herald with his mechanical parts? Where was Jayce becoming more like his game counterpart? Where was Warwick mutating into his final wolf form?

Everything just felt beyond rushed and hectic. I’m not saying I regret watching this show and i still very much love it, but i will always mourn what the finale could have been and cherish Season 1 for the masterpiece it was.

Small vent cause I swear I keep seeing this, and it just bugs me. Im not angry, I'm mostly just sad that this is where we are right now.

Guys, can we not harass others. Unless they are hurting others, what is harassment going to do? Make them sad? Make them hate themselves?

People can, in fact, have different likes and opinions than you. As long as they are not actively hurting people, hating others, or being mean, what is wrong with what they are doing?

Liking sfw vore, extreme cuddling, or any of its other names is not something that one should be harassed over.

Likeing vore in a sexual light is not something to be harassed over.

Liking it both ways is ok, too.

Also, the fact that some people are going out of their ways to harass people who like vore (sfw or nsfw) in a fatal/digestion context is so sad.

I personally dont find vore sexual. I personally dont like fatal (in the sense that the prey is dead completely and isn't a ghost or anything that still has a presence).

But here is the thing. I dont need to like and/or understand it to respect it. I dont need to like spiders to respect people who keep them as pets. I dont need to like the idea of having children to respect those who do.

If I were to give any advice, it would be to wait a minute before you post a vent, rant, or anything along those lines. Walk away for a minute, come back, and reread it. You may find that some of what you type is your initial anger, fear, or hurt speaking, not you.

I want your real voice to be heard, yall, and sometimes to do that, you need to step back for a moment. So before you send that hate message, before you post that rant, please ask yourself:

"Is that me, or what I was taught"

* I want to elaborate on what I mean by anger filled rant.

What I consider an anger filled rant is when someone finds something they dont like, and decid to attack it.

Instead of making something informative, they make something emotion filled. This isn't always bad. But this can be bad if the thing they are attacking is something that is not hurting others or themselves.

So in short, what I mean by anger filled rant is, a rant that attacks something that is not harmful.

I dont condone harassment towards anyone, but I do understand an angry rant if it is about someone who is hurting others. Again, that is not the thing I am referencing. I am not saying someone being angry at another for hurting people is wrong, it isnt. People should be angry at people getting hurt.

i do sometimes forget most white americans cant necessarily tell what version of white someone is. and to be very clear this is not me at all criticising - homogenous whiteness is part of american culture and that has an impact on how european features are percieved, it makes total sense they have a different perspective. But like personally i can look at most white people and take a pretty good guess what region of europe their familys from, and so can most other europeans. I remember studying in america and finding out the girl i was sat with was irish american and saying 'oh i could tell. you look irish' and her being shocked, saying she was surprised i could tell. like girl you are the most sterotypically irish looking person i've ever seen. There are always exceptions obviously, but as a general rule you can at least take a good guess.

I think maybe this why some movies seem so badly cast to me sometimes. They'll be casting for a movie about ancient greece or something and it'd be fine if one or two actors looked more western or northern european... but all of them? I just cant concentrate. It takes me tf out. I'll be sitting there like "that is an anglo saxon i can tell just by looking at him". I remember being so not okay with logan lerman getting cast as percy jackson when i was a kid, because the book described him as mediterranean. And i felt gaslit because everyone else was calling him the perfect percy, when he looked so british/irish to me. Like e.g. I can tell Emma D'Arcys heritage is likely scandinavian, just from looking at them. They have a mix of features you can pinpoint on a map somehow. Its just something I know immediately upon looking at them without having to even think about it.

Maybe this is why some americans seem confused by where 'tall, dark, and handsome' comes from, and the concept of dark features in general. "Olive-skinned" as well. Like these terms dont really work very well with a culture that enforces homogenous whiteness. My cultural experience with the term "olive skinned" has always been that its used as a way of referencing the green undertone (i.e. has nothing to do with the depth of colour) usually seen in the countries around the Mediterranean. It suggests that that person's skin tans easily, but it doesnt necessarily mean it IS tan. It can go very pale without sunlight, but even when its pale its yellow/green tinted. But seriously, where does that term fit in when it comes to homogenous whiteness? It just doesnt really, it wasnt made for that.

All i can think is Europeans dont really have a concept of overarching whiteness amongst ourselves the way white americans do (please dont think this is me saying we dont benefit from whiteness, we do). Im not saying this is better or worse than the american concept either btw, Im really not making any kind of moral or political statement here. I just think its kinda fascinating how much culture affects our ability to categorise certain traits. Our perception of stuff like this depends sooo heavily on culture/how we're exposed to it, and I think maybe this is something we need to keep in mind when we're having cross-continental conversations, instead of assuming our way is the only way to percieve something and the other person is stupid for seeing something different than what we see.

IF YOU WRITE INJUSTICE AND DONT HAVE A CHARACTER GETTING UPSET ABOUT THE INJUSTICE THEN YOU ARE CONDONING IT

*takes a deep breath* lets dissect that

What I'm saying is that if something happens and there is not a single character that gets upset about something happening (and like throw out the "but reading literacy" bc this involves the SET UP before interpretation can occur)(its not "spelling it out for readers" when you fail to set up the moral message you wish to get across for your world setting) then you are saying its OKAY for that to have happened.

And I count "upset" as something that has some kind of thought out of it. A rumination that leads to some kind of agency or recognition of the lack of agency because of society or circumstances. It is not a character being "upset" if it is played for laughs and forgotten, with the emotions not taken seriously by the author.

For example:

The sidelining of female characters in mha.

Class 1-A has twenty students. There are SIX girls in 1-A. That is 30%. No one questions this?? Unless I've forgotten a scene, it is normalized and accepted that only 30% of the class are girls. The reader might register this as something that might be upsetting but for the author to not discuss this or make the characters realize this it makes it seem that the author is OKAY with this. That they did this without realizing their own misogyny. Horikoshi made it normalized in the world without pointing out that the normalization is WRONG.

The six hero costumes of the girls do not have the progression that many of the boys do. Momo's costuming is very revealing (which she has repeatedly not really been comfortable with as I can tell???) and Hagakure doesn't even have a proper costume. She is fucking naked for most of it (an underaged girl) and will be extremely vulnerable to anyone who attacks her. Instead of applying the same quirk-future-science shit that they pulled with Mirio, Hagakure was happily left naked. And any talk of "hey they can't do the same thing with her yadah yadah" I find so annoying because you realize that the author is writing this right? The author makes the rules??? The author is the one who creates the set up and rules and logic of the universe, so if that was correct, that would be even WORSE. To make it so she HAS to be completely naked is TERRIBLE and definitely cannot be used as a defense. The other girls costumes also don't really have the same thought that you can see in some of the guys (support options, things like that). When any part of the girls costume is mentioned to not really be okay, they or other characters seem to be only upset for a second as if its only for comedy's sake. This cannot even be counted as them getting upset bc it doesn't even feel genuine, a feeling only included to make fun of the circumstance than address it.

When the sports festival arrives, it seems to yet again enforce the idea that the girl's issues are going to be thrown to the side. Yes, I am really happy the treatment of uraraka for Bakugo vs. Uraraka was called out. But this is only one instance of a character (Aizawa) getting upset and actual agency shown from it. (Love agency from a man!!) And it doesn't make it better that the girls in the same event are tricked for laughs. They are put into cheerleading outfits bc of two boys who wanted to see them vulnerable and dressed for them. They are put into cheerleading outfits, recorded and on television for the world to see. They are put into cheerleading outfits when each and every one of them is there for a REASON, to be a hero just like everyone else. The girls are mad about the trickery but nothing comes out of it. It is instead a "haha" bc omg look they were tricked and are wearing cheerleading outfits!! The girls were uncomfortable. They were tricked into wearing revealing outfits. They were underage and televised in outfits they were uncomfortable in. The situation was not taken as seriously as it should have been and because of this, it is seen as okay to have happened. It's the same for every time before or after that that Mineta made comments about them. It's allowed, its normalized, and it is okay. It is condoning it instead of making a point that THIS IS NOT OKAY. It makes you question why it was even included if not to acknowledge that.

To make this worse, internships roll around. Momo and kendo are fooled into taking an ad internship. They might be "upset" but they aren't upset. It isn't taken seriously. They don't think about how unfair it is. It is played for laughs and they do not get any agency from this. This is no dissection about how unfairly women are treated in the hero industry. This is no discussion about how women must appear a certain way in hero society to be loved (midnight vs. mount lady could have been a wonderful way to tackle this but NOOOO). THIS IS CONDONED.

Then there's Nejire. Don't get me wrong, her loving feminine things and beauty pageants could have been a wonderful way to show that female heroes can be feminine. They don't have to disavow their femininity to be accepted and they SHOULDN'T. But then Hirokoshi fails to give her the time Mirio and Tamaki have. You can't make a statement about her being really happy with her femininity then FAIL to give her the same weight as the two other boys in the friendship.

I understand that Horikoshi has a lot of characters to juggle. Its not only the girls who fail to have adequate development. The problem is that Horikoshi is the one who CHOSE to have all these characters. He is the one who decided to make the class that big. And when you only have SIX girls in class 1-A, its noticeable when for most of the story, they have an arc and then are sidelined.

Many aspects of these girls treated badly do not result in they themselves or the people around them getting upset. Nothing comes out of it. There is no agency. Instead, it comes off as bad treatment on the author's part instead of misogyny from the world around them (although the world around them does treat them that way). It is not a way to say "the way women are treated in hero society is wrong" and instead seems to say "this is the way women are treated in hero society and I (Hirokoshi) am okay with it".

I love mha. I love a lot of its messages and characters and fights. That doesn't change the fact that its disappointing how this isn't taken seriously on many fronts and is a failure to reinforce the morality of the show.

Morality for a society in literature is built from the author's views. To be able to view "this is wrong" or to make an audience think and IMPACT their morality, you have to flag it as a disconnect. "This is happening, but it isn't GOOD that it is happening."

It isn't okay that Shigaraki got treated that way.

It isn't okay that Paradis got treated that way. (AOT)

It isn't okay that the cattle children of Gracefield got treated that way. (TPN)

How do you know this? Bc someone got upset. Bc there was agency. Bc there was thought.

This can even be tackled by parallelism and foils. It doesn't need every event to be acknowledged or each event of injustice. What matters is that it is established as wrong at one point and reflected throughout.

It shouldn't be taken for granted that these things are seen as wrong. In all kinds of literature, characters and civilizations are dehumanized because they are not allowed to feel upset. The author is the one who establishes morality. When you are creating a world undefined by the exact boundaries of our own (even by the exact boundaries of our own bc my morality is not the same as your morality) it HAS to be established.

This is not to say that characters are not allowed to disagree. Moral issues do not have to have a singular answer or an answer at all.

You still have to be able to say as an author that this is WRONG and even if I do not know how to change it, it must be changed.

HELLO!!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR ASKING!!! WELCOME TO VAMPIRE POLITICS 101 EDWARD TWILIGHT IS SO SO FASCINATING TO ME and i have no idea if charlie did any of it on purpose because i dont know if he actually looked that deep into the politics of vtm to plan for any of this.

how do i start this. youre getting an essay. dear lord this is going under a cut. because i gotta explain the normal politics before i can get into why edward politics is so fun for me personally.

everything below comes with a massive banner of context that i have been obsessed with vtm for a literal 13 years. so i have a lot of opinions on how stuff can be explained mechanics and lore wise. that charlie might not agree with and/or might not have been intending the read to be because we are two different storytellers.

SO in world of darkness (the book setting) there are three main political parties. there are the Camarilla which are traditionalists who created the rules of the masquerade and they want kindred society to be united and for there to be a hierarchy. this is the governing body that charlie has implemented and plays around with. then there are Anarchs who obey the general masquerade because they recognize its usefulness but they do not believe in a true hierarchy and bending the knee to The Prince of a city. and then theres the Sabbat who think the masquerade is stupid and think that kindred should live openly and blatantly rule over humans.

charlies camarilla is so interesting from the get go because queens are not a thing. thats a charlie thing. so were already off to a fun micro politics of what the fuck? hey charlie? is The Queen part of the inner circle and the head of the camarilla of the entire world? and you just invented a title? bro? because why would she as just prince of LA be called queen? female princes are still princes. so i work under the assumption that she is part of the main governing body for the entire world camarilla not just LA. because normal princes live in their cities. if she lives in fucking romania in umber castle shes not just a normal prince.

so within the camarilla theres a bunch of jobs but the main ones charlie plays with is primogen, sheriff, and prince. and he does a decent job at explaining them. primogen are voices of their clan. they are the most powerful person in the clan in a given city and serve to represent the needs of the clan within the camarilla. not every clan gets a primogen as it depends on if theres enough camarilla kindred in that clan to warrant needing a primogen. the sheriff is the front facing enforcer of the rules. who is elected by the primogen and prince together. and then the prince is The Prince. they are like a dictator mayor. they are the one who creates and expands the masquerade rules of the city to make sure that mortals do not become aware of vampires. princes are typically not elected; they come about from coups or if the old one wants to abdicate they endorse/instate a new prince.

theres also keepers, harpys, scourges, seneschals, heralds, archons, and justicars. but explaining those does not help with my why edward is fascinating so i can go into those a different time. also because we only have maybe two examples of those within suckening.

SO IN ANARCHS which charlie never brings up to my memory theres a lot less official titles! you have the Barons which function similarly to a prince but they will kill you if you say that; hate princes with a passion. cities depending on their size will have a number of barons who control neighborhoods/sections of the city. they all work together but compete with each other to maintain their footholds in the city and to resist the princes rule. and then the other main one is Proctors who just keep tabs on whos in the territory and doing what. which can function as mini sheriffs. 

so using LA as an example edward rules over the entire city but unless he killed all the anarchs in the city the specific territory of santa monica has a baron who also imposes rules on the kindred of that specific territory.

and then we have the Sabbat who charlie also never brings up. who also have their own chain of command in cities but also the world at large! the most important titles here for this talk are Bishop and Archbishop. a Bishop is going to be akin to a primogen it is a title that is given to a powerful kindred who then leads a large group of sabbat within a section of the city. bishops answer to archbishops. and an Archbishop is akin to a prince. they are the sabbat ruler of an entire city. every sabbat within that city ultimately answers to them.

a big thing with the Sabbat sect as a whole is they do not care about the masquerade. they commit mass masquerade breaches be it mass turning events or just having them run around in the wild doing whatever not caring if kine see a vampire using their powers or feeding.

Edward Twilight is a serial masquerade breacher. like theres no way around it. like yes he is a toreador so he is going to want and demand the attention of everyone. but theres a line. and one of those lines is mass ghouling an entire city and making a large portion of the mortals in your city look like you. that is an insane massive breach that is going to get the inquisition/grimslayers to raid your city because thats not normal. that is a massive red flag that vampires are there. that is a thing that only sabbat would do.

because even with charlies camarilla being his own spin on it and not 100% by the book. i can not bring myself to accept that a genuine camarilla member would pull the shit edward does. like it does not make sense to me. and thats slightly compounded by the fact that camarilla traditionally; even the toreadors; want to stay hidden. they do not like mortals knowing vampires exist they LOATHE cellphones because cellphones put a camera in everyones pocket and is the easiest way to make the entire world aware of your existence and status as a monster. and then your meet your final death when the city gets raided. camarilla toreadors chase fame and beauty but theres still a line ya know.

a sabbat on the other hand? loves a cellphone. doesn't give a shit if the world is aware of them because being known isnt a threat, its the goal. it is the goal to have humans aware that vampires are real and you can be one or to serve one.

so with all that said. i genuinely believe that Edward Twilight is an Archbishop of the Sabbat who has been playing the longcon with the Camarilla. because he is involved in the camarilla, theres no denying that. he has underlings that are clearly real camarilla and work in camarilla terms and conditions. but all of his goals that we know about just scream sabbat to me. he has been vying  for the prince position trying to get that endorsement from shilo to further legitimize himself and his hold on the city, that is a fact. but the amount and types of breaches he commits are the kind no right minded camarilla would commit and he does not have an affliction that drives him to madness. so to me he comes off as a sabbat agent trying to destabilize the cams.

theres also the factor of viv and vex. traditionally in VTM, clans are predisposed to certain political sects, with special cases made for individual vampires. in lore this is because the different sects will consider entire clans just a walking masquerade breach that they don’t want to deal with. so having them be a part of the sect is rare and special. now every storyteller handles this differently some are rigid by the book and some just do what fits best for the story they want to tell. charlie ran this in v20 and by v20 lore tzimisce are purely sabbat because they are an inherent breach. they are a clan who makes weird meatball creatures and turn themselves into literal flesh monster that barely look human. and in v5 tzimisce as a whole are welcome to anarchs but only individually welcome to camarilla. charlie mixes a bit of v20 and v5 because he read them both and touchstones are a thing so we know he pulled some v5 things. but with the shit viv and vex do i just find it hard to believe theyre genuine cam who respect the masquerade. those are edwards fellow weird little sabbat guys who are helping him destabilize and take over. they made edward sexy. they are the ones performing the procedures to turn ghouls and bloodbonded vampires alike into edward clones. that is the most sabbat ass shit ive ever heard of besides mass turning events and weird meatball snuff films

edward twilight is fascinating to me regardless of if m right. because knowing charlie and his love of bits and “well wouldn’t that be silly” it is likely that edward to him is just a genuine camarilla toreador primogen who climbed the ladder and his version of the camarilla are a little more lax in some regards. or because of the bloodbonding the other primogen and deacon won’t go against edward and his mass breaches.

but for me it is so much more interesting to think of edward as an archbishop who decided to infiltrate the camarilla god knows how long ago to become a prince and then probably climb up even higher into the Inner Circle because literally too many details line up and point at that being a possibility for me to ignore as coincidence.

because we do know that this campaign was supposed to be about the political climb until they all started playing and charlie realized that the boys ended up being more interested in the relationships and personal mysteries than an actual political power struggle against each other campaign. so i KNOW he had to do some amount of research into the camarilla i just dont know how far into the other sects that research went to have him genuinely on purpose make edward a sabbat.

and i cant wait for season 2 to drop eventually so i can learn if i put in waaaay too much thought into all this because i know too much about this system. or if charlie actually did an insane amount of research on vtm politics and i picked up on clues that are genuinely there LOL

okay ive been thinking about it long and hard because its been on my mind but the more i think about it the more i get genuinely angry at staff over the controller thing. they dont have the RIGHT to say using a controller is against the rules. fucking genuinely. that's like fucking saying that you can't use a fucking mouse and you HAVE to play with your track pad. it's a piece of fucking hardware. it's a physical fucking object. there's no advantage or disadvantage to have there. "oh someone could bind more than one key per button to make it auto" yeah. and you can do that with your fucking keyboard and mouse too. what makes controllers different? genuinely. it makes me furious. what about those custom keyboards made specifically for people with motor issues? are THOSE against the rules, staff? because they're not your cookie cutter keyboard? what about mice that have side buttons you can map? are THOSE against your rules, staff? because apparently, the hundreds of controllers made specifically with disabled people in mind, are against your rules.

fucking despicable.

i dont even NEED to use a controller nor do i have any DESIRE to. but im fucking disabled in other ways so when i see other disabled people talking about how they can't play coli without a controller, and staff is over here saying "controllers are against the rules!!!1!!1!!11!" to them it makes my fucking blood boil.

they have NO FUCKING WAY to enforce such a fucking rule. they CAN'T TELL when you use a controller. it registers as a keyboard press. so they're over here telling people to follow a rule they CANNOT ENFORCE. they're DOUBLING DOWN on a rule they CANNOT ENFORCE. and it's making disabled people feel like they can't do the one thing that'll let them be able to play the coli without being in a lot of pain.

fucking. flight rising is the ONLY GAME i've EVER seen that has a rule that you cannot use a control system that makes it easier for disabled people to play. you do not see fucking. first person shooters or whatever. go "no you HAVE to use the controller that came with your console/you HAVE to use keyboard and mouse it's against the RULES to use your controller made with your disability in mind!" because that'd be fucking ridiculous and fucking insane of them.

Imagine if fucking. fornite. started going "no you have to use your keyboard and mouse no matter what." or fucking. minecraft. did that.

how is it okay when it's a browser game? how is it okay when it's flight rising? to think you have that kind of control over someone?

please. genuinely. if you are scared to use a controller because it's against the rules. use the controller. they cannot detect it. it will register as keyboard presses. just don't say anywhere that you're doing it. please take care of your body. it's the only body you've got. and you're the only you we've got. even if you AREN'T disabled, and it's hurting to coli normally, don't play through the pain. it's not worth it. use the controller. it's not worth it to hurt yourself because of staffs bullshit rules. please. you're more important than their rules ever will be. staff might not care about you, but i do.
