so idk what that person was talking about but one of their points is valid - that many of us can't afford to donate to help you guys in rural states. so for those of us who can't donate but still want to help our trans siblings, what can we do? how can we help you guys if we can't afford to donate or travel there for protests?
white trans ppl from liberal suburbia in blue states will go on and on about how scary it is to be a trans person right now but the second they encounter a trans person from a red state they’ll be like “ummmmm why would you live in such an uncivilized place lmao maybe you shouldn’t have voted for republicans like if you don’t like how conservative it is then just leave” as if these states aren’t populated by black and brown people who face intense voter suppression and poor people who can’t just up and leave. not to mention the fact that all those articles y’all are sharing about the state of trans safety? those are in our states and we will be the ones who go down first. so instead of laughing at us dumb hicks from your liberal safe haven, consider instead shutting the fuck up and actually doing something to help us. because they’re coming for you next.
#pls i feel so bad every time i have to ignore a donation link#im lucky enough to live in ny#which thanks to nyc and albany is blue#but the rest of the state is red :-/#and most people dont know that cus they only care about nyc#sorry thats irrelevant#ANYWAY#i know a lot of queer people who would Love to help but cant afford to#if there is something we can do for you guys without having to give up getting meds or food pls let us know

i should NAWT be up this late but @a-punchline-on-duct-tape ‘s post about desi johnny and how in the FUCK he got into tulsa had me thinking and it made me realize
it would make more sense for the shepards to literally ALL be immigrants
long story short there was this huge influx of haitian immigrants bc of this dictatorship and it was from the 60s to the 70s, my dad actually came to america in the 60s
HOWEVER☝🏽☝🏽☝🏽
most haitians were moving to like ny, boston, philly, chicago, like places like that so ur probably wondering, how in thee FUCK did they get into tulsa???
WELL ILL HAVE U KNOW, smaller populations moved to places like texas or louisiana WHICH GUESS WHAT IS CLOSE TO OKLAHOMA WOOOOO
the way im seeing it is they tried living in one of thise states, maybe they lived in nyc for a while but they were barely getting by and had to move to tulsa bc there was family there that could help them
OR
they lived in a state close to oklahoma like texas or louisiana, one of em got a job opportunity, and they moved to tulsa
this basically means that around the time of the outisders takes place, the shepards r immigrants, when it comes to their english??? lets say theyre fast learners and dont find english very hard, but they do have thick accents

residency
im going to go by places, since i believe that the place you are in can accidentally have a large impact on what you choose to do with your time:
berkeley, ca -- i used to claim that "distance is mostly fake, since if you ever actually go somewhere, it might as well be a world away," and i still somewhat hold this belief. i was in the same timezone as berkeley but never really went, and i... dont actually regret this too much. but from what it seems, it feels like the most YOUNG energy is running rampant there, compared to the rest of my conception of the bay area. if this city seemed to whisper anything to me, it would have been be young, free, and alive.
san francisco, ca -- i went to school here, in the statistically worst part from crime. paul graham states this city says to you that you need more POWER and you need more influence. i never heard those murmurings, i heard that you always needed to be tinkering, that you always needed to have a screwdriver in the pocket and a notebook in the other.
toronto, canada -- it is close to my girlfriend. a quote from my favorite husband: "long distance relationships are a crime against humanity." and uoft has good eggs, and i convinced a friend to go public with his workouts so he can have more friends join in. id love to be a friend joining in.
london, uk -- i am based w/n the UK now, and it is a lot slower. it snowed! it is beautiful! london as a city feels more fleshed out than san francisco, and it has people that are itching to get out, to do more, to build. i figure if i stay i can do Good Work here.
nyc, ny -- i dont think ive ever been to a city quite like new york. it is a place where you can talk to strangers freely and effortlessly and side quests are found everywhere. i understand paul graham's take on this city.
montreal, canada -- also close to my girlfriend.
vancouver, canada -- close to seattle, but its also on the west coast, which is beautiful. the trees, the mist from the ocean, the everything. how does one simulate the beach, each grain of sand, each lapping of the water. vancouver is quite pretty.
i think id like to be outside of the bay's realm of influence.
right now it feels kind of stuck, where im limited by what my degree offers (more than one would expect -> the engineering building has tools that are simply off limits).
and i love math. but i dont want to be sit here doing math ive been before, slowly losing my grit.
i want to be with people who i can build new stuff with.
philosophy was good, because it taught me that yeah, maybe i do want to do something. maybe i do want to try and build.
living in a residency seems like a good way to do so.

Can't even make your fanfic coherent, poor thing. Just some days ago you were saying you were working for him in the beginning of AW era, in 2022. Yet somehow got to see her soooo much in NY already, and, on top of that, got to work on sets - while it's well known his PAs on last few sets in NY/NJ (Sharper, ADM, and DM) were Ethan and Pawla. It's almost like your understanding of PA's job comes from the y/n fanfiction you read, bc only there do PAs spend this much time with their employers outside actual work events/filming.
Personal assistants are there when you need them, through work events and in their personal lives Set PAs (Production Assistants) work on film sets throughout departments within the entirety of the production. It's almost as if your understanding of a PA isnt completely filled out. I even work for people assisting things in their lives while they are away, handling pets, house, pickups/dropoffs, etc.
I worked on a couple of his projects as Production Assistant, I don't recall stating when either production took place. Prior to that and after, I was Personal Assisting someone close to him (on and off when they were in NYC) during the Ale situationship and he saw me on set confused if they were there, which I then told him I jump back and forth between both Gopher & PA. I ended up working with him more than the beginning of AW as PA and I finished contract end of May or early June last year.
Always trying so hard to catch you in things they dont even fully comprehend.

Constantly in a state of unsureness, non-judgmental unsureness, but unsure nonetheless.
Unsure about what? -Whats next?- where am I going? what type of job am I now wanting to find? is it something related to mental health or is it completely different? Do I apply to remote positions again, something that will pay more? If I were to apply and get a remote position- would I want to lesson my hours at PF but stay there for human interaction? What field would I want to apply to for remote work? So everything surrounding work.
-I'm (rightfully) worried about burn out. I know that a large portion of people who experience real/true clinical burn out feel like they've gone through healing and hop into stuff again only to become EVEN MORE burned out than they were before... I don't want that. I am genuinely afraid of that. I do not want my mind and body and soul to feel the way I did again.
-For the first time in YEARS I have very lightly considered the idea of a partner. VERY LIGHTLY VERY BRIEFLY. And the uncertainty surrounding that of -okay but literally men suck. and then there's talking to people and interacting with people and going on dates with people ALL WHILE I AM STILL COVID CONSCIOUS. and currently have no healthcare and my last vaccine was now over a year ago. so... And then theres the fact that I have been on dates while I was living at my parents house, and it is just very uncomfortable. I am very private with my family when it comes to dating and relationships, especially my parents. If I find the energy and time to leave, I have to explain where I'm going and who I will be going with. obviously I could lie but that's not the point. so unsure about dating in general/unsure about even wanting a partner in general. And then there's the thought of 'well why does it have to be a man?' and then I entertain that thought for a moment and think about how I enjoy masculine features and things the cis male body brings and then I think about how if I'm fine now having none of those things for YEARS and YEARS then why the fuck would it matter? And then I think about what I even find attractive in women and then the thought just fizzles and my brain is already done with inner dialogue and is ready to move onto something else.
-Then there's uncertainty about concerts. Which sounds fucking ridiculous, but concerts are my hobby. I can't buy tickets to my hobby when I don't know where I will be. Sure, I could travel long distances to attend said concerts but fucking christ it is so expensive. I like driving, I enjoy driving but like NYC/NJ is over 10 hours of straight driving for me. I would be going by myself. A plane ride from MI to NY is easily $600. Chicago is a train ride away- about 5? hours I think. Atlanta I think is closer to 15 hours away by car. I cant buy tickets for future events because I dont know where I'll be. My mom is sure I'll still be here in July (there's an artist actually coming to Detroit in July) so she feels like I could buy tickets for them. But then there are other groups who havent announced their dates and I would much rather see these other artists.
-I'm reading a book about Burnout and there's so much unknown while reading. I like to read and process and ponder and sometimes I jot down notes, I'm trying to relate it to my life and learn from it that way, but then again I'm thinking like "if its so easy to do these things, and I've done several of them, how did I get the way I did?" and several other questions like that (^that question kind of has an answer, it just wasnt the best fit obviously and that's okay, but just an example as I'm word vomiting)
I'm not stuck like I was a year+ ago (It'll have been a year since I quit my job in LITERALLY A WEEK), but I feel like I'm still stuck in the way that I STILL don't know what's next. I have ABSOLUTELY needed this time to heal from burn out, and have been so fortunate enough to be able to take this time and dip my toe into the world of working again. AND the indecision is difficult to live in. Especially in the current economy. That's another state of unknown and concern.

You're from/live in New York right? I think I remember you mentioning that or I maybe mixing you up with another user. Anyway, what about Unova makes it not feel like a NY based region? Just curious!
Yup that's me!
In a general sense the whole fucking vibes were off lmao. Like I think when I first played it the only reason why I would have connected Unova to NY was because of the skyscrapers but even still wasnt good enough to make me remember.
Also NY is a grid system, not some weird semi circle like it is in Castella City. Like even the name of it doesnt give the vibe, you know? Like New Unova. That simple.
Also where the fuck are my subway rats? wheres my subway and path train? Where are my ratattas....where are my trubish...my little goobers...
It also just felt...jarring? like its just randomly there?? 9/10 times a place ins inspiration for a region its like REALLY obvious but it seems like they forgot it was supposed to be based off of NY until the last second. Not even like the pokemon there felt like they came from NY. It's just a random city in a random region with no central theme.
I am highly aware that NY Is more than just NYC but when you think of New York you think of the boroughs you dont think about the rest of the state as its pretty much just small towns and farm land.
And even then they could have done that. Make like 5 super close towns each with their own gym leaders while the player starts in a more small town/ farm-like village. Hell even add fucking NJ in there while where add it. The NY skyline is usually the one facing NJ across the Hudson. Speaking of that where's my Hudson!! where's my river!!
And you can tell they tried to do like a central park thing and it does work well.
overall pretty fucking poorly done, I mean did they even hire a consultant or even think of doing that?
COULD THEY NOT EVEN BE ASSED TO MAKE A STATUE OF LIBERTY KNOCK OFF???

okay actually ill give info just in case. there are photos also
--
schenectady - eastern NY, 15 miles away from albany (the state capitol). city population 67k. pretty sure ive been here but i have no opinion on it. i included it because it's fun to say. ska neck tiddy. s'connected-y.
--
elmira - southern NY, right next to pennsylvania. city population 26k. i guess mark twain is from here?? ngl it looks like it sucks and i dont want to go here im sorry
--
binghamton - also southern NY, city population 48k but the greater binghamton area has like 300k overall. prob a lot of college students bc of the university
--
ithaca - southern part of the finger lakes region. beautiful, but super impractical and the hospitals lowkey suck. really nice trails and parks and stuff. people wear tshirts that say "ithaca is gorges". because of the gorges. theyve got cornell university. population 32k
--
cortland - idk it's cortland. about a half hour drive from ithaca. part of the southern tier but getting closer to central new york. ive been here. its fine i guess. population 17k
--
rochester - jenna marbles is from here. western ny / northern part of finger lakes region. population 211k. arguably the most convenient place for me to move if im leaving the [redacted] area because there are more jobs here, esp in the medical field. rent is more expensive though. i heard rochester people are mean but i literally live in [redacted] there's no way it can get worse unless i go to nyc, which. no.
--
buffalo - western NY, part of the buffalo - niagara falls metro area. population 278k. ive been to buffalo, not very exciting. but there's a lot of stuff here and it'd be nearly as convenient as rochester
--
niagara falls - fun fact, this is in both new york AND ontario, canada. the ny part has a population of 48k. touristy as fuck. im. not sure there's a whole lot here thats relevant to me, other than the falls? and canada maybe if i ever decide to fuck off out of the US? it's like right next to buffalo
wait i just remembered i can do whatever i want

[ID: A digital sketchpage on a gray background. The main focus of the drawing is a cartoony drawing of a person (Sonder) with pale skin, blue eyes, and curly brown shoulder-length hair that turns to hot pink near the bottom. Sonder is smiling and doing finger guns. They are wearing a pink shirt that says “Lets Go Mills Baby Love Da Mills” in light blue, dark blue leggings with blue ripped shorts over them, and pink sneakers, and they have white glasses, a pair of blue headphones with music notes on them around their neck, and a pink flannel tied around their waist. White words with arrows pointing to various parts of them read “never seen without glasses” “shirt changes based on hyperfixation”, “noodle limbs”, “painfully pale”, “flannel is still cool right”, and “pink doc martens (SO COOL!)”. Across the top of the page is a “mini version”, which is an even smaller and simpler version of Sonder. The mini version is labeled “full of love”, and is shown in four different outfits: the outfit in the large drawing, an oversized pink top over dark blue pants, a purple t-shirt and blue shorts, and a darker purple shirt and red pants with a black coat over them. All the mini versions have a mischievous :3 face. The rest of the sketchpage is line doodles in various colors. The doodles are: Sonder at his computer, saying “weeeee hehehe im having so much fun writing!!!!” and smiling, while his computer screen reads “emotional devastation”; Sonder saying “i didn’t come here to make friends…” with a solemn expression and then saying “i came here to make BEST friends :)” with a comically goofy smile; Sonder looking angry and saying “massachusetts drivers come into my state, on the day my store is to reopen, and ask me to get run over. for no money”; Sonder with a neutral expression holding a piece of paper and a pencil, with the words “its me boy im the ps5! speaking to you” over their head; Sonder running with their hands raised and a triumphant expression, headphones on; and Sonder offering a piece of paper to someone with long hair and cat ears and saying “will you…beta read my fanfiction”, while the other person says “yes”. Near the top there is a doodle of Sonder looking frustrated/annoyed, with screenshots of text over them reading “i had the like. cognitive dissonance of ‘sonder is from NY’”, “sonder i know you’ve told us multiple times you don’t live in nyc but you kind of have the energy” “sonder i fully thought you were a new yorker”, and “sonder: i dont live in new york!! (other person): you dont??? sonder: no!!!!!!”. Along the bottom is a line of faces labeled “smile types”, ranging from “goofy silly time” (squinted eyes, big smile) to “excited!! good!!” (closed eyes, open-mouth smile) to “neutral! probably fine” (small smile) to “Hehe” (mischievous eyebrows, grinning) to “you have fucked up. run” (hands folded, very toothy smile). Finally, there are three Sonder doodles labeled “hair reacts to emotions”, showing her looking surprised with spiky hair, her looking sad with less curly, floppy hair, and her covering her face with a delighted smile and extra-curly hair. Down in the corner is the url “bread--quest.tumblr.com”. End ID.]

Lucid this is a mess
I will say one thing am noticing. People are really mad at Robbe's clothing choice and IDK I think expecting a 17yr from belgium to know the nuance of Native American culture is expecting alot. First I grew up in California where native american history is included heavily within the curriculum because california has active reservations but in NYC for example its not part of the NY state curriculum. Most east coast raised Americans cant even name 5 native american tribes or where they are located. No joke I could ask a born and raised new yorker to answer that question and they simply wouldnt know(Virginia doesnt count as the east coast btw). The exposure to these groups of people is so limited they dont prioritize it. Most wont ever step on a reservation in their whole life. Do I think these are bad people for not knowing?? No I don't. Do I think its pretty embarrassing on their behave to not even try to learn about the nations? Yes because keeping the nations protected is super important especially to the states they reside in. I think Americans expecting Europeans to prioritize learning the nuances of our nations when we do very little to learn about theres is coming off hella entitled. Like how dare this European boy not sit down and learn about American history. Like honey he doesnt care he doesnt live here why the fuck should any european teenager prioritize that? They have their own issues and we do very little to inform ourselves about the nuances of their general history above from surface information. Also Washington FB literally changed their name last year. Like it took white americans that long to admit it was offensive you think instantly someone who isnt even from here is going to be informed on this topic??? Guys europeans dont care about our shit that much we arent that important to them. Like if you asked Robbe what that logo is even for I am not even sure he wouldnt know its for an NFL team or the rules around American football. They dont prioritize our shit like that. We arent that relevant to them.

You dont happen to have a ref for your NY do 'ya? 🥺👉👈
shshah yeah, it’s from April though and the hair color is a bit outdated cause I made it lighter & so is some of the info. But there’s always more drawings of her on aph ny or New York tag on this blog or on my art blog @eggwardramenart
I do want to explain a few things about Jennie while I’m here.
- so she’s of like a Dutch- English- Ashkenazi (New York has the oldest Jewish population in the USA) background & she’s a big ol’ lesbian. And she’s meant to be more representative of the whole state rather than just NYC
- when I was making her I was thinking a lot about like old rich New York and the gilded age. (Check out Million Dollas American Princess)
- She’s pretty idk cryptic? She’s like “heck yeah capitalism” & she has a massive ego &ngl she’s pretty rude (although as she’s gotten older she’s been more subtle abt it, but on occasion she does just let the rudeness fly out). She’s also very cut throat competitive.
- Although that being said, she doesn’t really spend too much time in the city anymore. She lives in Kingston, NY and she did spend most of her childhood growing up in the Hudson Valley. So she is a bit of a nature lover. Her sister is Elise (NJ), and like Jennie can make fun of Elise but you can’t make fun of Elise.
- Jennie does spend a lot of time working though, and it can be to the point where she’s neglecting her feelings and needs in the name of business. She’s had a rocky relationship with some the boroughs, but they’re all on pretty good terms now. They’re not exactly friends though. That being said she will make fun of Will (Albany) though and she is more likely to side with the boroughs. She’s also not very good at controlling her cities like she just kinda let’s them do their own thing.
Oops anyways, here it is

I understand your point about the masks, but in NYC (in all of NY actually) you're required to wear masks if you're going outside at all. Things are very dire there, I have lots of friends and family there, and I rly dont appreciate ppl making excuses & encouraging ignorance for that kind of behavior. Dont have a mask? Dont go out. And yes - they're easy to get, you can get a cloth one. Sebastian isn't wearing a mask so that he cld be photographed. Pls pls stop encouraging such reckless behavior
Nobody is making light of the situation, it is dire and serious, no doubt. A friend actually sent me an article yesterday in all this discussion of how NY handles things. They are very strict and yes, people need to cover their faces when going out by wearing a mask (or scarf/bandana, whatever you have at home is fine is clearly stated in official sources). The article also said it isn’t necessary when you are in a quiet area with no other people around but you should cover your face when entering shops or more busy areas or streets and you can get fined if you don’t.
I’m all for calling out reckless behavior, it pisses me off when people don’t follow the guidelines, but Sebastian walking an empty street by himself, wearing gloves and a scarf so he can cover up when he runs into other people is NOT reckless behavior. Get a grip. In fact he is doing EXACTLY what authorities say he should be doing.
And “Sebastian isn’t wearing a mask so he can be photographed”? This is 100% your assumption. My assumption is he’s just out for a very early morning run. He lives in an apartment, he can go out for fresh air and exercise whenever he wants, even during quarantine. In fact it is advised to stay active and take care of your mental health. (Even if this was a “planned” pap photo all previous statements still apply, he’s still not doing anything wrong when it comes to following Covid-19 guidelines)
Seriously, this guy is doing everything right, we saw in interviews how he claps for the workers, how he gets genuinely pissed at people still going out to parks and ignoring the rules, he wears gloves and a scarf when going out. He obviously takes this whole situation very seriously, I honestly don’t know what more people want from him. The standards this guy is being held up to are completely insane and unrealistic and I’m so tired of it. He’s a human being doing the best he can under these circumstances, just like the rest of us.

New York! New York! So good you gotta say it twice! What it also so good is this epic New York playlist I put together. Took me a while. I had many bands, musicians, artists to research before deciding on songs. Not to mention the endless list of talent that hail from that part of the world. Harlem, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx just to mention some of the surrounding areas with their own unique musical history. This list took some time.
