alright so i've been obsessing over family man and the more i think about it the more i'm convinced that the cat is gonna come out of the bag at some point. gojo might not want reader to know about jujutsu society, but becoming MRS gojo kinda puts a giant target on her back and the back of her baby and it's unfortunate that she doesn't know it. but. reina is capable of becoming a sorcerer, right?

how do we think familyman!gojo would be like as a dad during her upbringing, especially her teen years, when kids become far more interested in asserting themselves and differentiating themselves from their parents? would he be more controlling of her and if so when? he's so lenient with kids and encouraging them to grow they way they really want to, and i think this gojo would be like that as a dad as well. except. how it could implicate his relationship with reader.

would reina become a student at the tech, or would gojo try to keep her in the dark, too? gaslight her? or maybe worse, let her in on jujutsu society and try to turn it into an 'our little secret' thing, encouraging her to keep anything like that from her mom and sort of delude her into thinking she's protecting her mom by keeping her in the dark as much as possible. (rip kiyo and unnamed grandpa you have no chance at having any serious influence over gojo reina's life now even if you did love her, god forbid satoshi's influence be allowed to surface anywhere)

what would that be like for reader to have her daughter become a sorcerer and not really know it? for gojo to put a wedge between the two of them and keep the two of them from being able to honestly communicate with each other? would he intentionally try to make it a wedge? would he want what's best for reina (having an open and honest relationship with her mom) or would securing reader's ignorance be his number one concern?

what would it be like for him to even become reina's teacher? how would that influence his relationship with her? because canon gojo, i could see him trying to be the best dad he could be no matter what blood relation, and i think out of all the yan's familyman!gojo is amongst the closest to canon gojo in terms of disposition and circumstances (which is probably why he thrills me aslkjjsa),

but. the yan factor. how would reina having more agency and being in the position she is in change everything? and also. this reader isn't dumb. prone to missing things and denial, sure, she's kinda occupied with a LOT. but. i think she'd notice if something was up with reina. she already kinda notices that something's up with gojo, especially after he's made his romantic intentions apparent.

wouldn't reina inheriting her father's cursed technique just about ruin everything for gojo? because as much as she might not want to, this reader can connect the dots.

so like...as cruel as it is to say, the only reason gojo rlly cares about reina is cuz she's ms.sawai's daughter. he kinda sees reina as an extension of miss sawai. as we saw in the fic, he kept obsessing over how similiar miss sawai and reina were. as reina gets older, their relationship with eachother will get more distant. yknow how some parents only want babies and not humans? yeahhhh thats gojo! so he's not gonna be as controlling over her as he would be on miss sawai+any kids they have together. reina gets the best scenario in this case

as for reina, due to miss sawai, i dont think she'll fully become a sorcerer (aka go to jujutsu tech/learn about CE). miss sawai wants reina to live a normal happy life. buuut the same cannot be said for the children miss sawai has with gojo. even if miss sawai tries to plead the case for them to live normally, gojo+ the clan wont accept it. he's gonna consider those extensions of himself and so ya, their all gonna be sorcerers.

strangely enough, Gojo's favorite kid will be reina. again, its mainly due to him seeing her as an extension of you, but he prefers her over his biological children.

the kid alastor au is so sad but so funny at the same time. like its sad because he never got to grow up properly and had to mature and a very young age, but also. imagine youre an overlord who managed to get on alastors bad side without realizing it and then the last thing you see is some ten year old boy with fluffy deer ears torturing and killing you. me personally i would NOT take that level of disrespect. plot twist alastor actually had to get husk’s soul some other way than he does in canon because no one will let him into a casino.

also, do you think he’d get along with some of the cannibal town kids, since they’re some of the few sinner children we see in hell, or does he prefer to stick by adults who dont know his identity as the radio demon, since he’s technically fairly old? would he even BE a cannibal in this au? i doubt he ever got to murder anyone as a human before he died, but since he hangs around rosie still she might have offered him a finger or two and, uh… perhaps he was always just predestined for cannibalism even without becoming a bloodthirsty serial killer in life.

Yeah, this AU is inherently hilarious and kid-shaped Alastor is keenly aware of the absurdity of his whole... thing. But he makes it work for him, especially when he's torturing Overlords. He just loves the looks on his victims faces when he reveals himself as the Radio Demon, leaning into the whole creepy kid aesthetic as he's killing them.

The thing about Alastor is that it's very difficult to keep him out of places he wants to get into. Husk first saw Alastor when he strolled right up to the high rollers table and peeked over one of the player's shoulders to see their cards.

"Ooh, that looks like a good hand!" The shark jolted, surprised by the tiny voice chirping in his ear. The King of Hearts - everyone at the table - stared in sheer disbelief at the little schoolboy-looking brat who'd had the gall to intrude at HIS table. The kid smiled, apparently unconcerned with the numerous glares fixed on him. "What the- Who the fuck are you?" the shark growled at the kid. "Alastor! A pleasure to be meeting you, sirs. Security threw him out, but not two minutes later Alastor was back inside. No matter how many times Husk had Alastor tossed out, he'd just pop back in, as if by magic. Finally, Husk agreed to let Alastor play ONE GAME if he would just stay the hell out of his casino afterwards.

Well, you know how that went.

I won't say this version of Alastor is much nicer to Husk. But by present, Alastor does very much appreciate that Husk talks to him like any other adult. Like, they have their in jokes, the routine with the ID card and whatnot, but Husk of all people knows he isn't just some kid and doesn't pity him.

Well, Husk doesn't outwardly pity him.

And yeah, I do think Alastor has a sort of kinship with demon children. He doesn't consider himself one of them, fully, especially in the case of actual Hellborn kids who won't stay children forever. But since the Pride Ring is primarily made up of sinners, I think the small population of sinners who died as children and survived past their first extermination in hell probably have some sort of community. I'm not 100% certain about the cannibal kids, since I've heard conflicting information on whether Rosie and her people are Hellborn or not. Their entire design seems to set them apart from the rest of the sinners.

Regardless, Alastor is friends with Rosie in this AU, and he does become a cannibal through her influence. Although Rosie doesn't know he's the Radio Demon, she does suspect that he's more powerful than he lets on and treats him no different than any of her clients. Their friendship is pretty similar to canon with them exchanging information and favors over coffee and pinkie fingers. She even gives him details from the Overlords' meetings. When they're in private though, Alastor lets himself relax a bit, and allows Rosie to fuss over him. Alastor is a bit contradictory, and as much as he doesn't want people treating him like a child, he mourns the childhood that was violently ripped away from him and the mother he lost in that moment. When he and Rosie have these moments, it feels for a moment like he really is a kid again.

I do have a theory on the flippancy though, and I may very well be horribly wrong, but I suspect it's intentional. The whole nation is being taught, more or less, that this war they're fighting is a game. It's fine if you die, we'll bring you back. It's fine if you fight the Abyss, we do it all the time. And yet. We see that folks' Ancient Names can be lost and not recovered, that you can't fully recover from Abyssal corrosion, and that hey, actually, Kachina is a terrified kid when we see that projection of her. It may even be part of why the nation is struggling so much with creating their Contending Fire. I also think Mavuika plays into this narrative.

Primarily, I think (or maybe just hope) her overconfidence is going to be her hubris. Traveller expresses concern about the time she has to gather the warriors and she's non-plussed, "eh, I trust the Wyob". She's got A Plan and it's going to work, according to her. But I dunno about that ma'am. She also says weirdly definitive statements that I don't think are fully accurate like "humans can't know their fate" and "the only thing that unites the Fatui are collecting the gnoses" that lead me to believe she puts full stock in her conclusions as soon as she feels she has an answer and doesn't exactly question any further.

Honestly? It would be nice if they set up this whole thing of the nation being so casual and Traveler buying into it only to tear it, crashing down, around everyone. How long can the nation avoid taking things seriously before everything comes to a head? (Perhaps why Capitano isn't interested in brute-forcing things overall? Or maybe I'm giving him too much credit, lol)

It would definitely play the part of being a pyro archon and how pyro vision holders are often extremely confident and high spirited. It would make sense if the pyro archon embodies that kind of value.

She also seems very quick to make MASSIVE decisions like using a good chunk of her power to keep the Contending Flame alive right then and there even with the concerns of some people. Then she was just as quick to burn all the mementos gathered for centuries when the group sent to find Kachina didnt make it.

I feel like maybe she couldve waited before keeping the Contending Flame alive. And while the Contending Flame IS more importang than a single girl, based on the time we spent in the Night Kingdom. It doesnt... feel all that long. She couldve waited. Use her power to save us. Rest for a while then fan the Contending Flame. Saving us from the Night Kingdom didnt feel like a permanent loss of power while keeping the Contending Flame alive does.

To be honest, she IS human, WAS human before archonhood. Shes been human TWICE now due to her reincarnation. I can understand humans wanting to prove to higher powers and beings such as fate that they CAN hold power over themselves. But being human, being NATLANIAN means she has worshipped to Wayob as well at some point. Hence putting her faith more into them and their ancient names.

The Plot of Natlan

I will admit here that i am biased and there is only 2 acts so far. For all i know theyre still setting up the chekovs guns and they may pop oh so beautifully in late acts and i am too harsh on the set up acts.

But i can understand if the people of natlan has been trained their entire life to numb themselves of the true horrors of war. Because they live constantly in it, if they are in constant fear, it is not good for morales or the ancient name holders either.

And if they were written to be so chill so that hoyoverse can pull the rug under us even harder then well good on them because i will be COMPLETELY honest.

I cannot see them pulling this without making it cliche or shallow.

Because we all already know SOMETHING is gonna go wrong. The abyss will reach natlan. The contending flame will die. The 6 heroes will reawaken and help Mavuika fight off the abyss for good. We know it will happen. The only issue is how to get there and how to not make it cliche as fuck.

Because for one they pulled the anime training montage for Kachina where we get told she is actually really good, she has been training so hard with Mualani but we literally dont get to see or feel it. But oop she defeated mualani.

They pulled the power of friendship when Mualani talked back to lector in the night kingdom.

They already spoiled how Ororon was the traitor because HE WAS STANDING NEXT TO CAPITANO IN THE TRAILER.

It feels way too messy for me, way too unserious and uncoordinated both in game and advertisement materials. I almost feel like capitano, 1st of the fatui harbinger, probably shouldnt have been responsible for natlan because dude can out espionage them (or maybe natlan and capitano are both as equally uncoordinated who knows).

Well for NOW i think they have a generic base plot. I would be very willing to declare how wrong i was about natlan if act 3-5 managed to fucking mindblow me. But yeah as you can see i am not hopeful that hyv have half the brain you have about the plot.

I once read a fic where dick, Jason and Tim are not human and that Damian and Bruce are the only humans (Alfred doesn't count) in the manor basically the fic was about how bruce took care of non human dick jason and tim and when damin came he had issues with them but came to accept them in the end and that got me thinking an au where the batfam are not human except bruce. like hes the only FULLY human in the family. like the in the fic dick was a doll that cam to life, but i also read somewhere that dick was a tentacle monster thing because of hugs (i dont remember it well because i read it when i was half asleep) Jason probably had something to do with gotham, like all the chemicals made him immune to most things and also being in the streets probably messed up his health and also he might be born? Made? Not human and that was before he DIED and was dipped in the Lazarus pit, which probably has supernatural consequences, and made him even more not human. Tim was probably cursed by an artifact that his parents brought home when he was young or he was just born (maybe bred, I'm pretty sure rich people can breed their own child) that way that makes people question if he is human or a sickly Victorian child in the wrong era, he also must be good with the shadows if he can follow batman around (and we are not yet talking about his age is he forever 17 or did he age, if so how old is he?)

Steph is the child of a supervillain and is probably an ally kid, so she is kinda similar to Jason but with more drugs and the spoiler thing. (i dont have any idea with her) Cass was probably trained and experimented by David Cain to act the way she does (nobody know if she's human or not and it freaks people out) Damian probably was the most human among Bruce children as he is made by his DNA, but if he was also dipped in the Lazarus pit then maybe there's a chance that's he's not human, but that can just be league training. Duke has powers and was living in the streets when is parents got joker gassed and was also living in the zero year when riddler was mayor and made a we are robin movement (sorry if i got his character wrong) Nobody knows actually if Damian and Cass are human as they possessed abilities that no Normal human can like blending in the shadows too well that that can't be seen (even when it's a light shadow you can't see them unless they want to be seen) but they were also trained assassin's and maybe those were the consequences of their childhood (at least most heroes or people hope)

The same can be said to the others, dick can perfectly blend in the shadows and when he fights he tends to pull stunts that no normal human can pull (does he even have bones how can he bend like that). Jason is like a tank and somehow is quieter than he looks, he can be stabbed and will still keep fighting like nothing happened. Tim doesn't sleep and he lost his spleen and still doing okay. Steph knows where to go, Cass can read you like a book and can probably kick superman's ass without a sweat, Damian was raised by demons and duke can bend the shadows to his will.

To summarize, you want to think about an AU where Bruce is human and the rest of the Bats are not? We can definitely explore that, but first, I think I know what fics you were talking about.

For the Dick is a doll one, I can't find it. It's making me sad cause it was a great one of Bruce continuously adopting kids that others want to harm/kill due to their nature. Just Bruce fighting against his instincts so he can provide them love. It's cute.

For the Dick has weird hugging abilities, I think "you can swear in my hoard" by Inkpotsprite is the fic you were thinking about. Tim and Dick are the only confirmed non-humans, though.

For a fic where the batkids are born as a variety of angels or demons and Bruce is a human, the "heaven sent//hell bent" series by AstraEllis is good.

As far as the AU, I agree that Bruce pushes his body past what's considered human limits (they all do). It would be funny if the JL had discussions about that in confusion (the humans and non humans trying to figure out how he manages to do everything he does without powers).

hi i just wanted to say, thank you very much for all of your posts and perspectives on the church hurt tags, it's very validating. the religious people around me are always pushing me to physically go to church and I've always been reluctant to despite feeling like im much closer to my faith and God as my best friend lately (all thanks to the numerous queer affirming religious blogs on tumblr btw!) and it's because of all the disagreement i have with the church and what they teach here (i live in a conservatively religious country where even supporting the queer community is frowned upon)

it makes me feel incredibly guilty that i don't feel the desire to go. not to mention, another reason is i work 6 days a week and also an introvert with not that many spoons and so i dont quite have the energy to go because sunday is the only day i get to recharge. but everytime i think about these reasons, i feel guilty as if im making excuses and that im just lazy, I can't never tell which is the truth and that only adds to my guilt.

everytime someone tells me to go to church, i long to find one where i am accepted for who i am, a place where i dont have to be afraid to be myself, a place that doesn't teach outdated beliefs that doesn't resonate with me. i long to feel the desire to go and to sing worship.

and at the same time, for me, worship and my faith lies in the small things that i do everyday, like looking at the sky and admiring the clouds, sending a quick prayer of thanks when the light turns back on after a blackout, enjoying the food that God has given me, listening to music on my way home to work, scrolling through affirming blogs and crying at the amount of compassion shown to me. but it feels like everyone says that's not enough, that we need to diligently attend church to truly be a christian but i just.. cant? which is shameful for me to admit.

Hey anon, I'm sorry the people around you are pressuring you to go to church, rather than doing any work to make the churches around you somewhere you could actually find spiritual flourishing. You deserve spaces where you can worship in community, but when those spaces don't exist, that is never your fault.

Well, your first mistake was taking what people on reddit say seriously and letting their opinion affect the way YOU think about this episode and how it affected you!!!!! One day one room is indeed, an amazing episode, it really is one of those times where we see House truly open up. One of the rare times where he opens up to someone other than Wilson, or Cuddy, someone who doesn't actually even really know him. And he opens up for the patients benefit!! He only does it because she asked him to!! He doesn't have much to gain from this but she asked for it, she basically begged for someone to connect with her pain and he happened to be the one she chose for the task. Even tho this sort of thing does NOT come naturally to him at all.

Theres just something about how uncertain he is about all of this too. The way he asks his team for help (tell her your life sucked - it didn't, tell her nothing bad has ever happened to you - but it did, dont tell her anything. and don't these answers say some interesting things about the people who gave them), the way he settles for a half truth at first and almost loses her trust because of it. The way he eventually just lets it happen. The way he is still so uncertain about whether he did the Right thing even when the impact of his actions seems to be mostly positive. The way he is still not sure if he truly helped her or if he just made a traumatised girl remember the horrible things that happened to her. The way he had to unearth his own past to do that (did it make any difference? Wouldn't it have been better to just forget everything?). The way he is clearly bothered by it. "Because i don't know." What a way to end this episode. All of that uncertainty, the fact that human connections are one of those things that he will never be able to fully understand or control, the fact that he will never know if he made the right choice. Its honestly been a few months since i last watched the earlier seasons but you made me think about this ep again and yeah you are so right, this is probably one of the best house md episodes. Me (insane) to you (also insane): you are not insane and neither am i. Take my hand. Strangers on reddit don't know shit.

Originally, my assumption was that each timeline contained a duplicate of the entire multiverse. Doomed timelines don't seem to let you communicate with other universes/dimensions, though, so they don't need to contain other sectors of reality. I'm currently of the opinion that doomed timelines only contain an instance of the dimension they were doomed in. The only timeline which contains the entire multiverse is the Alpha.

This mechanic keeps doomed timelines simple, but in-universe, I don't know why it exists. Much like the Alpha itself, it's a mystery I can only speculate about.

Tavros is barely a presence on the Land he's ostensibly the hero of, and all of his actions are being dictated by a third party who can physically control his body. This third party does not acknowledge or respect Tavros's own desires, effectively forcing him to play the game in a way that she personally approves of.

Shit, this is such a dilemma. I'm honestly really torn.

See, I'd probably find old fandom theories absolutely fascinating to analyze. I'd love to know how closely my ideas align with those of the early Homestuck fandom, and whether I'm saying anything really out-of-pocket. My analysis of Sollux's ~ATH script was apparently an original theory, and it's honestly one my proudest moments.

But that's also sort of the problem, isn't it? If I dive too deeply into other people's fan theories, they'll start to affect my own - and if I'm introduced to a really compelling fan theory, it could end up replacing any homegrown theories that I could have developed in lieu of it. If someone had send me a well-reasoned ~ATH theory before I did my own analysis, I'd probably have been less motivated to make the analysis in the first place. After all, many of my questions would already have been answered by a clever theory I just read.

People are free to send me their own off-the-cuff opinions on what's happening in the comic, or their own takes on any meta I write. I get a lot of asks like that, and they're some of my favorites.

Obviously there's a fine line here, and whether a given ask is a theory or just an opinion is a little subjective - but in my opinion, the influence that asks and submissions have had on my analysis has been relatively minor. I don't think many of my theories have been spawned from an ask, or killed by one.

This is a little different, though, because it's part of a theory that was crowdsourced over several years. It doesn't sound like something that could be inferred by an individual, so I'm not sure if it's something an individual liveblogger should necessarily know about? If I start crowdsourcing my analysis, my theories will be less Wertsearch and more fandom consensus, and I don't think I'd enjoy that as much.

I really want to know, but I think I'll enjoy the liveblog more if I don't. When I finish the comic, I'll gleefully analyze any fan theory that anyone sends me - but for now, I'll just have to wonder, and come up with theories of my own!

Yeah, we've really been getting into it with Vriska lately. I've enjoyed trying to explain and predict her actions, and I'm glad people don't think I'm going overboard when trying to analyze her.

When a character does something interesting, I don't like to move on until I have a theory about why they did it. Sure, it may be refuted later, but it needs to be something that's consistent with what I currently know about their personality.

Vriska takes a particularly long time to puzzle out in this way. Her motivations are derived from a complex web (lol) of factors, including Scratch, Spidermom, her rivalry with Terezi, her horrendous relationship with Tavros, classism, teenage hormones, quadrant politics, highblood society and the Alternian culture of violence. They all inform her decisions, and any combination of them could have been the catalyst for the latest Vriska Incident.

I want characters to make sense to me, and Vriska is written to deliberately challenge my attempt to achieve this. Her meta is fun to write, so I'm glad it's also fun to read!

If Dazai is a bad person, then Ryunosuke is just as bad. I feel like this fandom babies Ryunosuke so much, but the completely ignores the fact that Dazai and Kyouka, too were also. Yes, what Dazai did to Ryunosuke was fucked up and he still manipulates him. That's disgusting. But Ryunosuke is just as bad, having abused both Kyouka and Higuchi. And l dont wanna see you Ryunosuke stans going "but - but he said he was happy for Kyouka 🥺"

THAT DOESN'T MEAN HES SORRY, AND HE STILL, ABUSES HIGUCH! Yes. Dazai hasn't apologized to either Ryunosuke and Yumeno, but: Ryunosuke has done just as bad. If we're going to see things in black and white, then both are horrible people and neither of them deserve to live. You see how wrong that sounds? Let me just get more into the abuse web for a minute.

Mori abused Yosano and Yumeno both physically and psychologically, meanwhile his abuse to Dazai was mainly physchological. Mori abusing Dazai was the result of his fear of Dazai (as stated in some novels). Yosano and Yumeno ended their branch of the abuse web, but Dazai went on to abuse both Yumeno (this isnt even slightly confirmed, it might just be abandonment, because there are multiple results on how he acted with Yumeno. Some say they were friends, but Dazai abandoned them after an incident, and the others say he neglected Yumeno. Some say he treated him the same way as Ryunosuke, but I'm not sure bout this yet.) and Ryunosuke. Ryunosuke abused Kyouka and Higuchi And not to mention, Kyouka was also abused by Kouyou. Now, in my opinion, none of the people in this abuse web (except for Mori) are bad people. Of course, Yosano, Yumeno, Kyouka, and Higuchi ended their branch of the web, so I don't need to explain that. But the others actions were fucked up as hell but understandable. Dazai was a kid in a bad mental state, with suicidal tendencies and being exposed to the Mafia at the age of fourteen. And, not to mention, had to be the witness for a murder. He became an executive at 16, and was regularly exploited and dehumanised- not to mention psychologically abused by Mori. l don t think anybody can expect a person in that situation - ESPECIALLY A CHILD (and I don't wanna hear anybody saying "he was fourteen, that's old enough." HE WASN'T EVEN AN ADULT YET, AND NOT TO MENTION, THE HUMAN BRAIN DOESN'T FULLY DEVELOP UNIL A WHILE AFTER ADULTHOOD! Hes a child in every way at that part of his life) to have a good patience, and good training methods, to mention.

And, we only saw Dazai physically attack Ryunosuke once and that was as a punishment. And before you say it was still abuse- I KNOW

But I feel like we ignore the fact that other than those punishments, there was no mention of Dazai injuring Ryunosuke. And after Odasaku's death, which was a big wake up call for Dazai, he left the Port Mafia and hes great with children, and is attempting (AND SUCCEEDING!) in somewhat redeeming himself. And no, Ryunosuke isnt a bad person either. He was also a kid when Dazai abused him, and grew up with 'survival for the fittest', not to mention the fact he already knew it was unlikely for him to live much after adulthood (lung disease) probably made him desperate to accomplish something before he died.

He was also worried for his sister, Gin, and in just as bad a mentality as Dazai was. His actions to Kyouka and Higuchi were the same motives as Dazai's to him, him simply not knowing better. Again, I DO NOT CONDONE ANY OF THIS! I agree with the rest of the fandom when they say that: Dazai and Ryunosuke are abusers and need to face their actions. And for Kouyou, she has a similar ability to Kyouka, and she's also similar to her. She saw herself in Kyouka, and didni't want her to suffer like she did, so she started self-projecting, not realizing that she was hurting Kyouka instead of protecting her.

It's very obvious that she's sorry for her actions, and when Kyouka left the Port Mafia, her healing began.

I find it honestly sad that our fandom just views BSD in black and white, when it's just all shades of gray No black or what AT ALL. Kenji isnt completely innocent, and Fyodor and Mori arent completely evil. Before somebody says "yOu'Re oVeRrEaCtInG", Bungo Stray Dogs, in psychological and some physical aspects, is a lot like real life. In real life, nobody is truly evil, and nobody is truly innocent. If you simplify everything even in a show, I feel sorry for the people who have to live with being seents thet view of life. For example, a person would get mad at somebody for stealing, but what if that person had a child to support but no money? The action was shitty, but the motives were understandable. I think it's an important detail on how realistically Asagiri and Harukawa represent realife aspects to BSD, and especially in the abuse web.

I think she is smart but is also very impulsive and emotional, maybe?

Oh definitely.

To be fair, the rebellion was only successful in that it killed Arturia. It also got Mordred killed and destroyed Camelot. So it wasn't entirely successful but the fact that Mordred knew how to appeal to people despite how inexperienced she is in general shows that she is smart.

That's not the only time though. In the London chapter (specifically in the chapter they meet Anderson but before they do in it), Mordred makes an insight about the enemies they are fighting and how the summoning of Heroic Spirits was being used. It's to the point both Ritsuka and Mash are surprised and a bit confused by what she is saying. This isn't a one off thing from a subpar chapter- In Enkidu's Interlude, Mordred is capable of recognizing the magic that was used to make Humbra is the same magecraft used to make her. It's safe to say that Mordred is actually well versed in magecraft. Which makes sense since the London chapter gives a subtle implication that she knows it from her time with Morgan.

And this isn't the only time either. In that same interlude, Mordred figures out Enkidu was questioning her because she's a homonculus and tells him that he can't give them answers or meaning, they have to do it themselves. In the finale of Arcade's story, Mordred acknowledges the ephemeral nature of humanity and how destructive they are while reaffirming that they're still worth fighting for. This also coinsides with her talk with Sieg in Apocrypha. With Sieg asking if humanity os worth fight for and Mordred suprisingly tells him that she can't answer that for him.

And in the first Grail Front story, Mordred is asked whether Chaldea should focus on long or short term warfare and she responds with a quick but effective comment about their lack of supply lines and how they should focus on gurellia warfare and targeting weakness (which matches with how Chaldea fights). It's so insightful that everyone is stunned for a moment hearing it for a moment. Everyone being Iskander, Hektor, Altera and Cu. All of whom are experienced warriors and at least three of which (excluding Cu) are noteworthy commanders.

So Mordred isn't just knowledgeable about just magecraft- she's also fairly insightful on philosophy and warfare.

The only indications that we have that Mordred's dumb is that Merlin thinks she's the idiot of the Round Table and Mordred favors brute force in her fights. And Merlin's view isn't fully objective- he doesn't like being around Mordred because she apparently 'smells' like her mother and he could be talking about her impulsiveness. And Mordred's a person who loves to fight; she's basically an adrenaline junkie. No shit she isn't gonna come up with big plans-She wants to fight for the sake of it.

So yes- Mordred is smart. It's just that, again, she's still very young and lacks many things that make a person stable like a healthy family...and self esteem...and any kind of self image.

Favorite Thing About Them: Can I be so damn honest. We share trauma. Like okay not like 1:1 but her parents """died""" when she was young and she had to deal with that. ok so like. i just think their dynamic isnt as wholesome/lovely as a lot of shippers make them out to be especially on furina's side. i believe they both care for each other BUT they don't understand each other.

neuvillette wishes her well and respects her BUT until focalors explained her master plan to him he didn't fully understand the depths of her stress and trauma. remember how in 4.1 furina was nervous about meeting arlecchino by herself and at first neuvillette thought she was just being dramatic? yeah. also he respects her and knows she's more than her public dramatic persona but he also doesn't like being seen as The Same as her (him telling traveler and paimon he doesn't agree with her on everything when they didn't even mention her) and publicly he even praises nahida more than her praises her, since he usually plays the "role" of being the Actual Responsible Man vs. furina.

and while furina does respect neuvillette and tries to rely on him (as like the aforementioned arlecchino meeting) she also finds it incredibly hard to open up to him and thinks he might hold some anger towards her post-4.2 AQ. and im not just talking about furina not being able to tell neuvillette about her whole masquerade. she doesn't even tell him about arlecchino's assault, leaving him to at first assume she just didn't want to go to the meeting by herself, and then eventually coming up with his own conclusion after the meeting. and after seeing furina's whole deal i think it's safe to assume she didn't tell him because she didn't want to be seen as weak or have any doubts cast on her which is like. really fucking sad.

it's like... frustrating as both a neuvillette AND furina fan (but especially as a furina fan) to see people gloss over the complexity of their relationship and just shove them into a feel-good "archon and her loyal dragon!" dynamic when canon pretty much beats us over the head with "yeah these two work together and trust each other but they don't really KNOW each other." maybe if they had more of the actual dynamic in the ship i wouldn't dislike it so much but anyways.

there's... a lot more stuff i could complain about re: most shippers talking points (conflating focalors with furina, saying she's the only/main one who helped him understand humanity) BUT that's on them and not the canon dynamic itself lol. and also we would be here All Day.

in summary i really don't like it when complex, close relationships are just grossly oversimplified or straight up ignored for an easier time with shipping to the point where they become a common or at least noticeably significant fanon interpretation. especially since a lot of it in this ship (imo) ignores a lot of furina's feelings and her own insecurities and view of neuvillette and how she thinks he feels about her.

oo this is interesting! okay i have quite a few thoughts bear with me here.

also just for ease, i am only referring to emotion route unless i say otherwise

will they have any big plot impact? i personally believe that every character has pretty big plot impact, but i know thats not what you mean so i will give an actual answer. im not sure if they will have MORE plot relevance than other characters, especially since theyre only there in one route (although, i have seen people theorise that emotion and logic will have seperate plots completely, which is interesting). i think plot wise, there isnt alot that they CAN impact yk? midoris gone, hinakos gone, and those were the big moments. i mean, that was a huge moment in alice lives route, the hinako reveal was such a huge plot moment, and to my knowledge it wasnt as big boom powpow in rekos route as it was in alices. i think that reko'll have one of these moments (please she needs a w). we still dont know her first trial. i think we'll find out what it is in 3-2 (the same applies to gin and kai but this is about reko). and i feel like alices first trial was pretty plot relevent so the same could apply here. as for alice specifically, i have a feeling that the memories that safalin erased will come into play. yttd has established a pretty big theme of humanity/how can humans be altered or changed and alice erasing his memories of reko is a pretty huge example of this. i highly doubt that it wont be relevant. also again, hinako moment was a pretty big plot impact. im not saying that he won't have any more plot impact, but i feel like in 3-2 he won't have a single big reveal moment because, well, it's already happened.

big defining moment this is just me elaborating slightly. i think all the first trials we dont know about will be relevant, and that includes reko's. on top of that i do think that while her arc is mostly coming to a close, i think she very well could have a big personal character moment, this may be wishful thinking cuz i love her and want to see more of her but whatever. to be honest, i don't fully see HOW her first trial is going to be relevant, but there has gotta be a reason for it being hidden this whole time. alice's first trial seemed irrelevant until it wasnt so! alices big moment, as i said, has gotta be related to his memories. i refuse to believe that he just erases his memories and moves on with his life, it just seems like a copout and i trust nankidai more than that!

will they die? to be honest, i dont think so. they very well MIGHT but i dont know! i think there will be at least one route where they die, but i think itll be avoidable. again. very well may be wishful thinking. but truly i think that either of them surviving to the end, possibly even escaping, would be a huge win for their character arcs. particularly alice who has very little to get back to. for him to fight on, to move forwards, despite knowing this? i think that'd be hella cool thematically! the idea of hope, and the idea that being human is to fear death are pretty big themes for the game, so for character like alice: a prisoner, who's already lost his sister and hasn't talked to the rest of his family in years, to not give in and to escape anyways would really fit into that. he doesn't have too much to live for, but that doesn't mean he should die, yk? (also would be an interesting parallel with kanna). reko, similarly but also on the other hand, HAS people to get back to, she has her band. and her fans. shes a public figure, her kidnapping was probably a big deal, making national news headlines, so it'd be nice to see her escape, also playing into the idea of hope both for her personally, and for everyone else; everyone in the death game and, yeah, her fans. additionally, because she is famous, her escaping could be detrimental to asunaro. she could out them completely as criminals, it would be a huge fucking deal. realisitically, im not sure if thats going to happen but its a possibility!

will choice affect logic route? honestly i have NO idea. i think most realistically, no, considering alot of people play chapters seperately to each other and will be starting from 3-2 without any link to any previous saves. there wouldn't be any point in having a "who died" choice for the yabusames at the start of 3-2. hopefully speaking, maybe. i think it could be interesting seeing how it affects sara, especially because she was incredibly close to reko. reko's death in logic route would obviously hit her alot harder than alice's so it'd be interesting seeing the differences there, but very likely the choice won't matter. emotion route on the other hand, i have a feeling theres gonna be a big difference in 3-2 between alice and reko lives, not sure what it'd be but. something's gonna happen. might be first trial related who knows

this is like half "what i think will happen" and half "what i want to happen" and i cant tell which is which.

tldr: alice gets his memories back, we find out rekos first trial, there is at least one route where they survive their respective routes, and the choice is relevant in emotion (all theory)

i'm happy that they work for you! let me rephrase the post. some people think that microids are inherently stupid and invalid. i think they are stupid and invalid for thinking that. meanwhile, i do not understand microids, like at all, and i have seen people get fixated on trying to find a hyperspecific label that explains them perfectly, and either succeed and say things like "i can't fully relate to anyone :(" or fail to do so and think that they're weird and wrong for "not understanding" what's going on w them, as if the human/queer experience can always reliably be neatly sorted into little boxes.

those things don't inherently mean that microids are bad! some people (like you! mwah!) have a blast with them, and you understand that you still have a place in the wider queer community even though you describe your experiences differently/in a hyperspecific way. that's cool as hell and i'm glad that they help you, and they help a lot of other people too. i don't get them at all but that doesn't mean i think they're invalid. like i said. on the post.

i have been SO excited to reply to this!! i just wasn't sure when the right time would be, because ideally, i would like to be at a point where we know a bit more about one mister sampo koski before i start going on about details of his past. my biggest fear for characters like him that have obscure pasts and unpredictable futures is crafting a backstory for him and getting really attached to the idea of it, only for it to be disproven at a later time once more story is revealed to us. however, i do want to still talk about a few key things that i have for my sampo that tie into his past that i've never explicitly stated on this blog yet! according to natasha, she claims that sampo "just appeared one day" as though he was never actually from belobog at all. by saying so, he also appeared on her radar, meaning that its very possible that sampo first made himself known in the underground. i think he used the jobs given to him by natasha to help scope out the world better and when his true colors and talents shined through, thats when he was used for both tasks and intel gathering. which, benefitted him as well in the long run, as you can imagine. sampo's reasons for doing so are not entirely selfless either as natasha says in the story that sampo owes her big-time; which means she might even be the reason he's down in the underground in the first place at all, or she's been doing all kinds of favors for him on the side to accumulate such a debt. i also use this to help justify that sampo is a masked fool theory, which i'm quite partial to! sampo's ending scene in the story of jarilo-vi has him communicating with some entity, asking if they liked his performance on the planet as a tagalong now and again in trailblazer's story which implies the entity's omniscience in knowing what sampo is doing at any given time. sampo isn't one to answer to authority, as seen by his constant meddling with the silvermane guards and amused reluctance towards natasha about doing certain things he is asked of. he seems pleased to be acknowledged by whoever was being transmitted on the screens though, making me think it's either the aeon aha themselves or another entity of high ranking amongst the fools on the other end of the screen that he seeks the approval of. as a masked fool, sampo is an absolute husk of a person. he is jaded towards people and to the point of life, to people who love so carefree and wear their hearts on their sleeves. he doesn't understand people like that, people who can be selfless and unabashedly vulnerable to a world where their existence is as significant as a speck of dust to the grander schemes of the universe. but you wouldn't know that, because he hides it very well. he hides behind masks of exaggerated emotion, ones that he doesn't particularly understand or feel himself but has learned to replicate appropriately in social circumstance. or willingly inappropriately. sampo fully embraces the ideals of masked fools and pursues pleasure and laughter in excess, its the only thing he really understands and the only thing that makes him feel that rush of being alive. sampo is not completely heartless though! as we see him wanting to intervene when bronya is in trouble when she first came down to the underworld, as well as hook's line where she says that he plays games with her sometimes. sampo would never admit to himself that he feels and emotes like other people do though, not genuinely, he would internally argue that he's not like other people. but that's not entirely true, he does feel some things like empathy too, like towards those underworld kids that can also indulge in laughter like an adult can. who dont have a grander scope of morality and can do harmful, wicked things like he can but shouldn't strive to become like someone he is. sampo koski won't accept that he is, at his core, human too. a human that feels more than emptiness sometimes, like empathy and envy for what he cannot ever be and cannot ever have.
